I walked this path several times during my visit, and saw something new every time. There's not a bad view!

From the Bar Harbor Pier, we took the leisure stroll. I imagine it would be very crowded at an earlier time of year. Its not a long walk along the shore then you can head up a gravel road to the shops and loop around. There is no fees to walk this path. There are also no guide rails along the path so hold on to the kiddos.

This provides a scenic view of the water. Breathtaking sunrises and sunsets and nature. Everyone on the path is polite and courteous to others. Walk free

We’ve walked this beautiful path every time we visit Bar Harbor. It’s a “must see” for all visitors.

If visiting Bar Harbor I definitely taking the time to walk the Shore Path (especially at sunset). Starts downtown at the waterfront and takes you along the ocean before bringing you back to your start point along Main Street.

The shore walk is an easy path along the Harbor with spectacular views of the bay and islands. Don’t miss it!

Easy walking underfoot with lovely sea views. If you wish to do the whole thing I recommend that you start in town and walk down Main Street as far as Wayman Lane, turn left to pick up the shore path and finish up at the pier. Plenty to see on the way.

Take a walk courtesy of private and public property owners on the shore path, downtown Bar Harbor, Maine. This flat scenic dirt path takes you along the edge of the bay and its a privilege to have it open to the public. Spare you the details of its mega history (shore path/Frenchmans Bay/WWII/Bar Harbor), you can do that homework on your own. Don't forget the Bar Harbor Historical Society on Ledgelawn Avenue, sure they can helpya understand it wicked good too! At its end the shore path will take you uptown to exit on Wayman Lane. Thats the end of the path but thats best part. Now you can walk back down Main St., till your downtown once more. There are a few other chances to exit the shore path between its beginning and end... Those too will bring you back to Main Street.

Nice easy going walk along the coast. Well signposted from the cruise tender point and some interesting houses to walk past. Scenery impressive too. Suitable for buggies and wheel chairs too. have done this walk twice now off the ship ending up in a cafe or bar afterwards.

What a great way to get your exercise done! The shore path offers excellent views of Frenchman’s Bay. The path is easy to navigate and offers several different locations to take photographs. It is also located near the harbor so there is easy access from the town.

Walking the shore path was one of the highlights of our trip. We took our time and stopped quite often for different views of the water and the cliffs.

If you are up for a way to avoid the crazy busy downtown traffic and shops of Bar Harbor, I would recommend a nice walk along the shore path. It starts right behind the bar harbor in and goes along the beautiful coast line.

This is a must do if it's your first trip to Acadia or the the Bar Harbor area. The path is an easy stroll that all ages can enjoy. We even seen some people with chairs sitting and enjoying a favorite spot. The views are spectacular, I do recommend you either go early if driving yourself or take the free bus service the park offers because parking is limited.

We walked the Shore Path almost every evening in Bar Harbor. The light was just right to do this in the early evening just before dinner. This is an easy level walk, on a sand/gravel surface. Some interesting properties, but the main focus is the ocean, the islands, and the big ocean liners.

Really pretty walk (about 3 miles but go as far as you wish). You can turn off and make a loop back through the town at several points. It was cold when we walked but it would be stunning in the summer.

The shore path is a nice way to walk off lunch. Start by the Bar Harbor Inn and just keep going along the waterfront. Level all the way. Nice water views on one side and well kept properties on the land side. Very pleasant.

This is a beautiful easy walk to take from Bar Harbor especially on a quiet evening. It passes along the ocean front and some beautiful homes.

Great way to start the day. Walk is along the ocean and then into town. Be sure to go to second lane to down town for longest walk.

We do this walk every year that we visit Bar Harbor. It is a good way to get a little excercise in, and it is beautiful.

Great walk for the early morning! Park at the shore and walk in the path! We enjoyed the beach after that! It takes you past Thunder hole and otters creek.

This is a short mostly level walking path beside the coast. There are great views of homes along the path and water front views of the harbor with cruise ships and sail boats.ht of

A reallyu nice feature of the downtown area, being able to circumnavigate the town's waterfront by a walking trail with terrific views. Great for the town to have such a free walking path, with excellent views.

It was an amazing walk along the Shore Path starting and ending from the Town Pier. Around 3 miles long (go and back) along the scenic waterfront with seabirds flying over the calm water. You could sit down underneath the apple tree and took photos around. No hurry but just to enjoy the environment. Recommended.

Great path right along the water. Nicely Maintained public access and trail. The shore path is a mere .75 miles (so 1.5 miles to and back). Big you want a loop, where it pop out on a quiet street, just follow that for quarter mile and will pop you onto Main Street and you can head towards the harbor. that circle will make it closer to 2-2.25 miles. So nice and scenic whether high or low tide.

Anyone traveling to Bar Harbor cannot pass up the beautiful and breathtaking sights along the Shore Walk. I believe it’s about a mile long but not positive. You walk on a smooth sidewalk which is very well maintained. Sights along the way include the Bar Harbor Inn, inviting large green spaces, beautiful yachts and other boats. There was a cruise ship docked when we were there. This is a pleasant stroll in the early morning or anytime of the day with park benches in some areas.

This is a lovely easy walk which goes about a half mile from the Bar Harbor Inn south along the coast. There are nice views of the harbor and bay on one side and private homes on the other side. You don't have to walk the entire way. There are paths and streets you can take from the Shore Path west to make a loop back to the harbor and town center. There's plenty of 2-hour free parking in Bar Harbor. This is definitely worth doing. It's best to do it early in the day before people from cruise ships arrive in town.

Shore Path was our first view of the Bar Harbor coast - we walked right over immediately after checking into our B&B. Highly recommend this for your first taste of the beautiful scenery this area has to offer! Lined with the most fragrant wildflowers, the path overlooks the harbor for great views of the islands, boats (including a massive cruise ship!) and waterfront areas in town. We started at the opposite end and walked towards the pier during the day, and came back, passing the Bar Harbor Inn outdoor dining veranda and firepit, at night. Do take the time to experience Shore Path by moonlight - the stars, Egg Rock lighthouse, and reflections of sailboat lights on the water are peacefully mesmerizing.

This walkway allows you to take a scenic stroll whilst enjoying views of the ocean. We were able to enjoy a great view of our cruise ship from this pathway and the path eventually leads you back into the charming village with its many shops and restaurants

scenic flat paved dirt path that starts at the end of wayman lane following the water to the bar harbor inn/pier. from there you can go down main street, take a left at wayman lane to complete the loop. or from the bar harbor inn continue walking parallel to the water to the bar island path (check the tide times)

The trail is not paved. It is mostly wide enough for two but there were places where I had to stop and let someone pass. I was running (super slow) and it was spectacular. It is short so I just doubled back a few times. My husband runs faster and longer than I so he just added the Shore Path at the beginning and then ran through town and back up the Shore Path to find me. We loved it.

We walked up the shore for about 3 miles and the views the water, everything was amazing. It is scenic and there are different views from every angle. Walk and enjoy.

I loved this walk because of the views and all the flowers along the way. Also, everyone we met was so friendly. And, I loved reading the Shore Path plaques; they were very informative and so well written. The history here is incredible.

So much to see on the shore path. It was my first time visiting Bar harbor and I kind of found it by just walking around. There are some parks in between.

After watching the huge waves crash against the cliffs in Acadia National Park, the calm waters of Bar Harbor can be a let down. But the path is well groomed and there is a 4 mast sailing ship in the harbor. There are also occasional signs along the way with interesting local history. There is free, three hour parking at the pier along with restrooms.
So, a pleasant, but not spectacular spot for a stroll.

This was a nice easy walk. It was cold & rainy when we went but it still was a nice stroll. The path didn’t hold water so there was no puddles. It led us right back to our stay at the Cromwell.

Such a lovely walk and great way to spend a morning or evening walk. Plenty of places to stop and rest or take photos. The walk is easy for any age. Nice to walk here after a meal

Fun, never the same because of fog, boat traffic, other walkers, high or low tide. Good for round trip to get your steps in. At 9:00, you pass the yoga class. Take a picture at the tilted rock for fun

Lovely ‘there and back’ stroll, though you can get there from one end of Main Street. Definitely no bikes allowed - some reviews say they are as we had thought about cycling it before we returned our rental bikes but bikes are forbidden (with good reason as it’s only wide enough for pedestrians)

If you can't find another means by which to explore Mt Desert Island, the shore path can suffice, but I recommend you travel further and explore Acadia National Park

Best part: you can grab a take out from one of the restaurants in town, climb onto the rocks off the path and have yourself a picnic. While on the path, however, there's no possibility of social distancing or even to just walking without having to step aside to let someone pass by. The view is worth an attempt though.

Lovely shoreline walk along the water with peeks at the backyards of some amazing homes in the area.

This is a nice walk from downtown, and some nice views along the path. The whole thing is not that long, less than a mile.

Start in town and enjoy the beautiful views of Frenchman’s Bay. Make sure you stop by the Balance Rock and enjoy the rock precariously sitting as if it will fall.

Beautiful walkway near the shops in down town Bar Harbor. Easy walking for anyone. Great view of the ocean and boats. Benches are available along the path.

We took a great walk along the path, so quiet and peaceful and just time to reflect on our stay in Bar Harbor.

Excellent walk from the port area of Bar Harbor along the shore. Very peaceful and very scenic. You end up near the end of the shopping district on Main street. This was a nice break for us. We did right before luch and then stopped at the Salsa Verde grill from lunch.

We took this walk on the morning that we were leaving town. It was raining. We only took the path until it stooped at the shore. We did not walk along the road. It was great to see some of the beautiful old mansions on the shore.

A beautiful walk around the shore! Without this, you wouldn't get to see as much of the amazing scenery around the island. Its a short, flat, easily walked path but very peaceful!

Really enjoyed the half mile shore path. It runs along the sea wall between the hotels and private residences and the sea. Very seanic and relaxing. Especially nice if your a photographer.

A great and scenic path in Bar Harbor. An easy walk for any age with plenty of places to sit and admire the views. Easy to get to from the Bar Harbor center. We stayed at the Mosely Cottage Inn and it was only a couple of minute walk to there, the shopping and places to eat.

Great hike! Beautiful ocean views! Some of it is on the road but so worth to see this part of the park up close!

Delightful walk along the water. You can park at the park. There are benches to sit on along the way. An easy walk.

We enjoyed the Shore Path and found it to be quiet a busy place. It allows dogs on the path and there were many the day we walked. I think it is to narrow to accomodate dogs and people. Several times we had to yeild to allow someone with two dogs on leashes to pass by in the the opposite direction. It does have fantastic views of the harbor, the ships and working boats there. Along the path are lovely homes, inns, flower gardens and sculptures. There are a few benches to sit on also. You will find the balance rock here too.

nice walk along the harbor, you can see the balanced rock there, also a hotel, a leisure walk, good for family

Follows the shore awesome walk and views! Saw some deer as we left to walk back to our hotel many others enjoying it as well.

This is a beautiful walk along the shoreline of Bar Harbor. I have walked it numerous times and it never fails to help me unplug from the stresses of life. There are several places to stop, rest, read, take photos, drink your coffee or enjoy a picnic lunch.

Nice easy going walk along the coast. Well signposted from the cruise tender point and some interesting houses to walk past. Scenery impressive too. Suitable for buggies and wheel chairs too.

Every time I visit Bar Harbor, I take a walk along this path. Beautiful views of the shore, including a great opportunity to get some exercise in. Highly recommended, and easy to access when you are down by the waterfront.

This path is a nice easy walk from the harbor to approx Mt Desert street. It runs along the bay with great scenery over the bay and old mansions along the way on your right. Well maintained and smooth, even wheelchairs can do this .Nice interlude during sightseeing, etc. Recommended.

This is a lovely stroll, but a bit crowded during the summer. The landscape is worth the crowds. Just beautiful.

Safe scenic path for walking or running. This path was great for daily walk in the morning or in the evening. There were several stops along the way describing some of the homes in the area.

We walked from south to north. The most spectacular scenery was definitely on the south end. We wanted to end the walk downtown, and it was convenient, but I think if we were to do this again we would have walked both directions leaving and ending in the town. Definitely recommend.

My wife and I were in Bar Harbor recently. I happened on the Shore Path. If you like to walk and/or run, don't miss this scenic path. It is a gravel path built up on a retainer wall that runs along the shore parallel with Main Street. One side is lined with landscaped Inns and homes. The other side is the picturesque harbor. If you are an earlier riser, don't miss the sun as it rises over the harbor. Breathtaking.

This is a nice little walk. Good path so it is easy to walk. Beautiful views and very relaxing. It was nice to walk down by the waterfront.

Short enough that it’s a comfortable and manageable walk, long enough to help make room for ice cream after a large meal! The rocky shoreline you expect to see in Maine, a quiet and beautiful place to stop and enjoy the smell of the ocean, bird watch, and enjoy the scenery of sail boats and lobster boats. Definitely worth the stroll, the path is straight and comfortable and the rocky shore is accessible for the more adventurous souls. Path can get crowded when the cruise ships come in but typically a perfect afternoon activity on a beautiful day. Bring good walking shoes!

How could anyone visit Bar Harbor and miss walking the shore path nad absorbing the ocean air and the fragrance of beautiful flowers. I was on a walker and stilled enjoyed this outing daily.

A pretty walk on the coast of Bar Harbor. You can see boats, the shore, and houses and hotels. We saw locals, a wedding, and of course a lot of tourists.

Strolled along the shore path before dinner on evening. Safe and easy to walk and say some of the old mansions, gardens, and of course the ocean. Would be beautiful to watch the sun rise in the early am. Convenient to catch at harbor where we ended and went to dinner.

Shore path is a good option for kids, families and seniors. Seniors walking with a cane are able to walk on shore path, which has large stones lining it. These are good for seniors to sit on to take a break

This path along the shore downtown in Bar Harbor is a beautiful stroll. Especially in the morning when it is not that busy. Once you get to the end of the path just keep going and it will bring you back to Main Street and you can continue to explore the shops. If you are going during the summer of 2020 most places are open and it is not very crowded.

I thorougly enjoyed the Shore Path. I walked it every morning at about 5 AM. I took my camera and each day it was a different walk depending on the weather. Peaceful and beautiful

The Shore Path is an easily found and accessible path that winds along the harbor just off Agamont Park in Bar Harbor. It is flat, easy, with places to rest along the way. When we were there in June, the strong and lovely scent of beach roses was intoxicating! Even those who are not strong enough to walk far will enjoy this very lovely path.

Easily accessible from The Terrace Grill and was not crowded when we walked this on a overcast and gray day. Able to sit on furnished benches and walk down and go into the water as well.

The Shore Path runs from downtown Bar Harbor by the coast and past the Bar Harbor Inn. It is a fairly level path and the views at dusk are picturesque. The evening of our walk, the path was fairly busy which took away from our enjoyment. There are a few benches along the way to enjoy the view. It was worth it to see the ocean. We also spied two deer in the yard of an adjacent property which was a nice treat.

The shore path is a light trek along the beautiful coastline of Bar Harbor. Circles around to the village where you find great eats & shopping. We loved it!

From right in town it is an easy walk along the water. We saw a mink and watched the tide roll in and out. As easy a walk as you want with periodic benches. Just a beautiful relaxing place.

Step away from the hustle and bustle of the shopping areas and take a quiet stroll along this path. So pretty and serene. Highly recommend it - easy walk, can go at your own pace, nothing treachous and there are some benches to sit and enjoy the view as you walk along.

The shore path was a wonderful walk along the coast. Great for a morning walk. Or take a walk after dinner. Very peaceful.

Located right in downtown Bar Harbor, it's a nice little seaside stroll. It is a very easy walk with the seashore on one side and beautiful houses and gardens and the other side. We noticed many shrubs with red bulbs and though they were some type of apple , then we saw a gardener and asked and he said they were rose buds and that they are edible. He picked one and we tried it. When the trails ends you can walk back or do what we did ,took the side street and returned to town along Main St. and hit the shops

This is one of my go to places, I love to paint the rocks and there is such a variety. the only exception is when a cruise ship interferes with the view.

Perfect place to start the day and stroll along the bay. Beautiful view of Frenchman Bay and Bar Harbor Inn. Trail circle along the waterfront and back into town. Absolutely lovely!

Great weather and we had some time to kill. Just an easy casual walk on the harbor side of town by the pier and the cannons and we grabbed lunch on the other side of town.

Staying at the Bar Harbor Inn, we were literally able to stroll out our back door and onto the Shore Path. It's a beautiful walkway along the coast. Beautiful views of the harbor and the surrounding coast. Only a couple minutes walk from town center.

Walk the shore path any time of day but it is just magical at night! We were lucky to have arrived in town during a Full moon and nothing could have been more romantic than an evening stroll on the shore path with the moon reflecting on the water lighting the path and the cool breeze with all the lovely gardens and "Cottages" as you walk by. It is a lovely flat walk, no hills and well paved. There are benches to sit down if you need. We made this a part of our nightly routine while we spent 5 days in town.

This path is just gorgeous! You have the beauty of the ocean On one side and beautiful homes on the other you can walk from behind the bar harbor in and continue and end up coming out on the main road at the other end of it or you can turn around and just walk along the ocean, however you do it it is beautiful!

The Shore path begins below the park in Bar Harbor and goes along the shoreline along the harbor. It is a nice short walk in the evening after dinner. There are a couple places to walk back into town from the path. We enjoyed watching boats coming back in, as well as seeing and hearing the waves along the shore.

Acadia National park is a must see! Bar Harbor is great also. We enjoyed the scenery, trails, Cadillac Mountain, and fresh seafood.

We picked up this trail right outside of the city one evening and I could just kick myself that I did not insist we do it earlier. I think we could have hiked forever. Love this place so much. Do the walk! Stop for wine at the fireside pit at the Bar Harbor Inn (i think)

Water, water everywhere. But, its a whold different experience seeing if from town or in a wilder surrounding. It was great to have stately homes or hotels on one side, the ocean on the other. Bar Harbor has done a fantastic job of maintaining this path.

This was a great nice short flat walk after dinner! The homes are beautiful and I love that they have signs telling about the history of some!

A good way to relax after a day of hiking and shopping in the village. Perfect for families even with little kids. An easy walk with great views.

This is a lovely walk. Great for tourists, which explains why there are a lot of tourists on the walk!

A short but lovely walk on the shore of Bar Harbor. Pretty views—we especially liked the evening view of a full moon. Really worth it.

This is a very scenic path along the water. This is not a hiking trail! There are several areas where you can walk on the cliffs which are amazing. We took our digs hich was nice but the path was very crowded. Well worth a visit.

This is an easy trail with beautiful views. If your on a cruise ship, I recommend going on this trail to grab a photo in front of your ship.

We were lucky enough to be able to stay at The Balance Rock Inn which has access to the Shore Path from the back lawn. Walked it in the evening, but it was even better for going to watch and photograph the sunrise. The harbor is so peaceful at the beginning of the day and the views are spectacular.

This is an easy path with breathtaking views!! We explored Bar Harbor for 3 days and could not get enough of the views or the islands, bays, paths etc!!!

We always visit the last two weeks in May so please note this review is taken during the “off-season”:
This is the path I walk in my mind when I need to relax and become calm. Even during rainy weather, this path is walkable and only about a mile. During our annual 2 week stay, I would do this path at least once a day (even the year I caught the flu, I walked the path with a 104 degree F fever to the hospital, where I received excellent care from a very kind P.A.) located at the beginning or end of the path depending on where you start.
Most days I would walk the path with my dog in the morning and again in the evening. I almost always leave my husband to sleep in as I very much enjoy this path in relative solitude. It is extremely dark on the path at night with some relatively steep drop offs- nothing deadly, but enough to turn your nice vacation into a trip to see the above mentioned lovely hospital.
On this path you can see Bar Island and all the “Porcupines” the SHEEP BURNT so LONG it was BALD (islands) and Egg Rock Lighthouse. I took advantage of my insomnia to watch the sun rise over the water in the morning and the sight is breath-taking (figuratively, not literally- or again, a brisk whisk-away to the delightful hospital).
There are many benches to sit along the way and take in the sights including a few Glacial Erratics (seems like a pretty decent folk-rock group name) some lobster boats heading to and fro, and a lot of the time, the 4 masted schooner, the Margaret Todd (which we always joke and call the Mary Todd).
I think the path has been recently “improved” by adding a better wall (only about 6” high- will not prevent you from dropping off the edge in the dark) and steps leading to the rocky sea-shore in a few places -including one near Balance Rock (lead singer for the “Glacial Erratics”).
All in all- if you are lucky and blessed enough to catch it during a quiet time you will hear the ocean against the shore, the clang of a few buoys, and the cries of sea birds above. You will smell the ocean, pines, and freshly cut lawns. You will enjoy spots to cuddle up and contemplate life with your sweetheart, dog, ice cream cone, or new walking cast and have that perfect mental image to take home when you need to “find your happy place.”
If you feel like stretching your legs some more but are up for a “hike,” also check out “the Great Meadow Loop” which begins near the “hospital” end of town.
I have never done the shore path during the “on-season” - late, June-end of August, so I can’t comment on an experience along the shore-path, during this much, much busier time of year.

The Shore Path is a simple, rather short walk along the harbor which is pretty to walk along in the day or at night. We came over here and sat on a bench with our ice cream and then walked along the path.

This is worth doing while in Bar Harbor. You have great views of the ocean and the mansions/houses along coast.

This easy path is especially beautiful at sunset when the light hits all the boats in the harbor! We walked down the path and then cut up and walked back through downtown Bar Harbor where there were plenty of outdoor areas for a drink!

This walk along the back side of many beautiful houses is so relaxing. The noise of the Bar Harbor shopping area is left behind as one looks first at the beauty of the bay, then at the manicured lawns of the large Bar Harbor homes. A very nice way to end a busy day.

This was an easy walk that leads to thunder hole and the sandy beach
It gets busy in the afternoon. You can park at thunder hole and walk to the beach

This path is wonderful for a short walk with amazing views. We fully enjoyed our walk to and from town. Great pre or post dinner walk.

If you go to bar harbor it’s so fun to take this little trail. We ended up doing a picnic outside by the trail and then walking it. It’s an easy path and super pretty.

I think it was Waymann St that leads to the beginning of the Shore path that leads you to downtown Bar Harbor- at the BH Inn. It has some benches along the way to stop and take in the beautiful views.

This paved path divides the Maine coast line from preserved older homes in Bar Harbor Maine. The path is flat and easy. Perfect for wheel chairs. The scenery is very beautiful and the walk takes about an hour.

We stumbled upon this path after walking down an empty street while waiting for our dinner reservations. What a find! Great walk along the water's edge past some older "mansions." Reminds me of the cliff walk in Newport, RI. Take some time to discover the shore path, you'll be glad you did!

I noticed on the Bar Harbor map an arrow on Main Street that said To Shore and decided to check it out. I was expecting a beach access but what I discovered was a scenic, well maintained gravel path that runs along the shore. It is .5 miles long and is a flat and easygoing stroll along the rocky shore line. There is an area about midway through with several park benches for enjoying the beautiful scenery. There are numerous places where you can climb down to the rocky beach below for a little exploring. It was a fortuitous find to spend a few moments with nature.

Hiking the Shore Path revealed the natural beauty I imagined Main, and specifically Acadia National Park to be. It's an easy hike that has gorgeous views of the harbor and ocean, with lots of places to climb out on rocks and explore. This was the primary hike we did, and we loved it.

Nice way to see the shore into harbor. Better if you take the village walk then catch the trail to the walk from the village.

Easy hike for families or people wanting to take it easy. Great views and plenty of places to stop off for a rest or a quick lunch on the rocks.

If you want a gentle stroll along the seafront to Bar Harbor, then this is for you. The path is well signposted, flat, and picturesque. There are display boards along the way detailing the history of the area. It is best to start at the top of town and end at the harbour. We did the walk by moonlight, and it was beautiful with lights of a cruise ship against the moon giving an eerie feeling. Finish with supper at Galyn's.

This is a lovely area for a short but beautiful walk amidst nature. Take your camera and enjoy the harmony in this spot.

The Shore Path in on the east side of the park and can be accessed from a parking area near Sandy Beach. The path generally follows the road, which doesn't sound very exciting, but provides for a very nice walk, is very accessible for people with disabilities, and provides numerous opportunities to take short (10 meter) trails to views along the coast on rocky cliffs. One of the easiest hikes in the park, and also fairly crowded. Perfect for smaller kids, strollers, and older couples.

Great walking path that runs along the water. Perfect distance to stroll after dinner. We were lucky enough to spot a deer on one of the private properties that abuts the path.

Made our way down here just after sunrise (well-worth making the effort to do) and the journey was spectacular. The walk from Bar Harbor is nice and an easy way to enjoy some beauty.

This was a nice walk around the harbor and ability to watch ocean liners and the local boats/ tour boats moored. You can exit the shore path to shop or eat or just people watch as you take in the scenery. What is special is seeing all the little guest houses and inns and peeking into beautiful flowered yards..

A paved path in town along the shore. Views of some really nice homes. Perfect for a relaxing stroll.

This is a short, easy, and beautiful walk along the shore. It has great views, a little history along the way, and you can walk right to the water if you want. We went in the middle of day when a cruise ship was in port (which we came off of) and it was not crowded at all. It is a simple left turn when you get off the tender from the ship.

Bar Harbor was a stop on our recent cruise. This is a tender port and you tender docks right by the town. The "Shore Path" is located just a few minutes walk from where the ship tenders dock. Just make a let turn and you are there.
This is a easy trail that is located between the shore and residences (and hotels). During the summer you will see many colorful flowers.

The Shore Path is right in Bar Harbor and is an easy, relaxing stroll along the harbor with fabulous mansions on one side--several places to sit and rest and take in the views along the way. We are old and have mobility issues but we were able to walk the entire path both ways and thoroughly enjoyed.

We enjoyed walking this one early afternoon. Very easy on paved surface, great harbor views and the Balance Rock. Folliage beautiful along the path.

We parked at the town pier yesterday and walked the path and then back through town. The path itself had some icy spots which is to be expected this time of year but the upside was that we were able to enjoy the beautiful views of the bay and islands literally by ourselves. The path ends at a road that takes you back to the town pier past stores and restaurants. Although many are closed for the season Peekytoe Crab Provisions is a comfortable place to enjoy a warm lunch year round. Parking is not an issue this time of year. There is plenty of it throughout the town. The entire circuit which includes the 1/2 mile shore path and the walk back through town is about a mile and takes about 1/2 an hour at a leisurely pace.

This is a nice short trek starting at Agamont Park along the shoreline. The path is not entirely paved but is well maintained. There will be many opportunities to leave the path for the shoreline or to climb some rocks and enjoy the vistas. A wonderful short trek.

Beautiful views of a gorgeous coast on an easy to walk path only steps from downtown Bar Harbor. Don't miss this opportunity if you visit Bar Harbor.

It is a very easy stroll, and the scenery is lovely. Hiking shoes are not needed. If you happen to be in Bar Harbor, I highly recommend it.

Walking is the supreme way to enjoy and take in the sights of Bar Harbour and Desert Island. Shore Path is a treat to see some of the private residences and now inns/hotels.

This is the first thing we did when we got to town. Shore Path - Circa 1881 the sign says, wow almost 150 years. It goes on to say it exists and is open to the public due to cooperation and generosity of the property owners and the village, wow again. It’s a beautiful walk along the coast and past the Inn. We walked up to where it was closed for repairs, but we were going to turn there anyway to loop back into town. We had perfect weather and really enjoyed it!

A nice way to see the shoreline in Bar Harbor. A must-do when visiting the area. Not too long and not physically demanding. Lovely ocean views on one side and grand old homes on the other.

We were in Bar Harbor for two days and I did this walk six times. It’s an easy walk, about half a mile long one way. You can just walk back on the path or go through a residential area and end back on Main Street. I walked back on the path every time except once.
The path is possible as the local land owners have provided an easement for the path. So you get to enjoy the harbor on one side and well maintained houses and gardens on the other side. Flowers were blooming everywhere especially sea roses. There is also an old apple tree along the path with delicious apples. I got one with some difficulty but well worth it.
The mostly rocky beach is also accessible from the path in a couple of areas. Please notice the large rock that is perched on a smaller rock. It’s unlike any other rocks in the area. It’s believed to have been brought down from 50 miles north by glaciers about 10,000 years ago.
The path starts right by the shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor. So a few times I walked while my wife shopped.

We walked this trail twice during our Bar Harbor visit. The first time was evening with a misty fog. It was still beautiful. The second time was 4:45 a.m. for a June sunrise. It was nearly empty and gorgeous! A clever homeowner has set up a self-serve drink stand along the way.

Great to have a relaxing easy path to walk or run after or before busy active day at the Park. Great to have an area right in town for everyone to enjoy beautiful place.

More of a stroll than a walk. We did this toward sundown and it was a great walk - flat and level - good for anyone not wheel-chair bound. The city has placed historical markers that add to the interest. At trail's end either retrace your steps or loop through town.

We strolled this walk on a few occasions. It was a good way to work off all the butter consumed with the lobster. Beautiful views of the water and downtown areas.

Walked with dogs and teenagers after dinner at Bar Harbor Inn - so beautiful - not a picture of me after 7 glasses of water with dinner! :)

I’m very impressed that Bar Harbor and the volunteers offer this really nice walking path along the water. Someone had a great idea, and now it’s there for all to enjoy. Good for families, romantics, and ‘vintage’ folks (like me). Fun and interesting. Take it in, you won’t regret it.

We hiked this path early in the day before the park got roo crowded. It was peaceful and the views were breathtaking.

This shore/ocean path is easy to walk along the beach edge and a nice way to see residential areas of Bar Harbor while enjoying the water views.

I love this walk. It’s just the right length and even when there are a lot of people, they are so spread out that you have times by yourself, spouse and ocean. The views and sounds are so relaxing. We usually make a loop through downtown and usually walk this at least twice during our time in Bar Harbor.

The walk begins at Agamont Park and round the harbor hugging close to the shoreline rocks. The surface is well cruised gravel and shells so it is easy underfoot. There are such pretty views of the harbor, with graceful sailboats and schooners and stylish cruise boats coming in and out of the harbor. The houses and hotels on the shore side are also impressive. The walk turns back inland and brings you out along a lovely shaded walkway to the other end of Main Street.

Shore Path was beautiful. We walked it on our first evening in Bar Harbor. The views were simply breathtaking. One must experience Shore Path when visiting.

We took a stroll one morning and was pleasantly surprise. It was a much longer walk than expected, but it was well worth it and the weather was perfect. The homes were beautiful and the scenery was just awesome.

The shore path is a peaceful pathway along the waterfront. Walkers and joggers alike will find this to be a nice place to start (or end) a day in the area. It was just outside our door at the Bar Harbor Inn.

What a great way to start your day. A nice walk or jog with a beautiful view of Frenchman’s bay, the islands and nature. Check out the gorgeous giant rocks. Great photo ops too. Easy treading for all. (You may see a large cruise ship though too)

This 1 mile (RT), easy, paved walk from the landing pier around the northern bay is beautiful. Don't miss it.

Our innkeeper made a point of telling us to use the Shore Path as an actual means to get to a destination. That is to say after he recommended we have a drink at Gaylin's downtown, we were instructed to use the Shore Path to get over to McKay's for dinner. What a fun way to enjoy our first night in Bar Harbor.
Whether you use the path for exercise in the morning, as a romantic moment at dusk, or as a practical means to an end (like dinner!), it is a must do event in Bar Harbor.

The idea that this rock from somewhere else travelled with the glacier and eventually dropped down fascinates me. I love to see the geological variety in this area. The colors are different every time I come here thanks to weather, tide, time of day, season and where I decide to set up to paint. Seldom do I see someone walk past without being drawn to it, even for a moment.

We took a stroll along this path while waiting for our dinner reservation, and thoroughly enjoy the stunning views of the water and the beautiful greenery. It was calm and un-rushed despite the crowds, and had many places to sit and enjoy the scenery. We also got nice views of the harbor with the cruise ships coming and going.

The Shore Path is accessible from several points in town, but we accessed it mid-town by following the sign on Albert Meadow street - just across from the Village Green - to get to the shore path at Grant Park. We walked towards the path exit at Agamont Park on West Street. This short walk took us under 20 minutes, but it was sufficient for us to experience this shoreline walk before we caught our tender back to our cruise ship. If time permitted one could walk the entire length of the Shore path - 1/2 mile - and then return on one of the residential side streets to the Main Street to walk back into town. The Shore Path is not paved - has crushed gravel as a walking surface.
The Shore Path runs right along the shoreline on one side and, on the other side, it abuts the lawns from nearby private residences and public accommodations. There was a drop to the water level along this section which would hinder most people from getting close to the water. One sign informed walkers about the appearance of a large whitish boulder on the shore. Glaciers from the Ice Age had dropped it there 40 miles from its source - the Bangor area. The views out to the bay, the surrounding islands, and cruise ships anchored in the water can be enjoyed at one's leisure on this walk. The homes and hotels, located further back from the path, were not opulent. The ocean breezes were cool on our late September afternoon walk, but, without shade trees, sections of this walk could be hot in the mid-day sun. We come from an area where shoreline walks are common so I can't really rave about this walk along this shoreline. However, I enjoyed walking on it more than I enjoyed the walk on Main Street.

The Shore Path is an excellent walk along the sea wall in Bar Harbor. Great place to watch the boats and look for seals

This is a gift to us all; some of it transverses private property with easements granted for our public good. Admire the mansions from a distance only.
Begin walking the 1880's trail near the Agamont Park and travel the .75 mile trail along the eastern shoreline; it passes the Gazebo, the Bar Harbor Inn, balancing rock, and other beautiful viewing spots.
Don't stop there: at the end of the Shore Path (near Wayman Lane) the path connects to a street ... well, it's kind of like a dirt street but it is a great way to hook into Main Street (it passes the hospital at this point). Main Street will lead back to the pier as it passes Village Green park.
There's so much to see and the Village/Downtown area has oodles of character and charm. Ivy covered buildings, historic treasures, fun shops, and get a little taste of Bar Harbor life.

Spouse and I took a walk after breakfast. As others have mentioned, very nice walk with a great view of the water and scenery. Walk can be modified based on ability and desire. We took a number of photos along the way.

Beautiful walking path that takes you along the water. Many flowers and colors with a great scenery to take pictures. Highly recommend to walk this especially on a beautiful sunny day.

Acadia has always been on our list and made it this year. We like to hike. This trail allows you to walk along the road and take little side paths out to the rocks along the shore. We would take one and then walk/climb the rocks to the next path. It was strenuous at times but for the most part it just required balance and concentration. It made the walk a lot of fun and got us away from most of the people. The fall colors were fantastic and worth the visit

In that it was off season there were no charges for parking. We started at the town pier and came back along Main Street. The views along the path were incredible, both out to sea and the houses along the way.

We took this walk on a beautiful sunny day, quiet walk with amazing sea views. Don’t miss this place. The walk is about 20 minutes.

Walking the Shore Path is one of those things in Bar Harbor that you have to do. It’s a scenic and easy walk on a well maintained path that has a mostly packed stone dust surface. The path itself ,as it’s name implies, is directly on the shore and begins at the harbor in front of the Bar Harbor Inn and stretches for about 3/4 mile along the bay. All along the shore side of the path there are fantastic water views of the islands, lobster boats, yachts, and sailboats. On the land side of the path, you will walk by some upscale resorts and impressive private homes. There are historical and informative signs along the way that describe the sights or tell the history of some of the homes, resorts, or points of interest, which I found worth stopping to read. About midway along the path is the grassy Grant Park that has a few picnic tables that are perfect for a take out dinner with a view. Almost in front of the park is a bubble rock (boulder) that stands balanced on the beach. It’s sign says it was transported for miles by a glacier. Along the way there are a few entry points to the path that are accessed from some streets that run perpendicular to it. One of which is at the paths end. The Shore Path makes a great early morning walk before it gets busy or take a walk there after dinner like we did. It’s a Bar Harbor bucket list item that you need to cross off.

Took this walk on the day we arrived to stretch out after a long car ride. The Balance Rock is fun to see and there are signs along the path with some local history. If you start behind the Bar Harbor Inn there are several options to exit at various points in town.

A must do in Bar Harbor. Beautiful public space well maintained. About a half mile, easy walk. Lots of beautiful photo spots.

While in Bar Harbor take some time to walk the shore path. Especially during low tide you’ll see a lot of great rock formations and tide pools. You will walk past some of the historic lodging facilities that face the water.

I love this path, you get to see amazing views and it is an easy walk. You can choose to walk only part or all or the path.

Easy, convenient and beautiful. Everything you could ask for. Close to everything yet you feel like you’re miles out of town.

We stumbled on the Shore Path and it was a wonderful way to learn about the start of Bar Harbor tourism and vacation spot. Informative placards along the path were very well presented.
This is also a nice change of pace from the busy sidewalks in town.

Compared to the rest of the island this path is not really all that great but it is flat and easy to get to. That’s about it. There are so many better walks on MDI this just doesn’t compare.

This is a short easy flat paved walk, with nice views and interesting historical signs. Unlike the Ocean Path, it has unobstructed views the entire way.

The shore path is a quiet Oasis on the coast of Bar Harbor. Wonderfully maintained path along a stunning coastline.

Great path right on the ocean in down town bar harbor! Great change compared to walking down town with all the shops. Easy paved walk way can accommodate strollers and wheelchairs, mainly flat. A bit of history with signs and historian houses.

This is only about a half a mile, but a sweet walk near the ocean. It's not diffuclt. Walking, bicycyling and it leads you right back into town.

I was a bit disappointed with this walk compared to the hikes we did in Acadia. Views were so-so and the walk was very short, only 1 mi round trip

This is an easy walk that leaves from town. Can be navigated by just about anyone. You will great views along the way, and you can walk along Main street on the way back to town.

We walked the Shore Path during our stay at Bar Harbour. It was an enjoyable easy walk although not very long.

This was our second visit to Bar Harbor and we made sure we walked this path again. It is short and easy and has amazing views. Let's out at the main street shopping area and village green at the end!

This is a lovely, very easy walk that allows you to view the water, other islands, birds and mansions of Bar Harbor. There are benches to sit and enjoy the view! This is certainly a treasure!

The views you see along Shore Path are just stunning. We took many photos, though I know looking back at a photo cannot capture the beauty captured in memories made here. Don't miss the opportunity to soak in the beautiful scenery!

What a beautiful walk! Watched the lobster boats come in and all the boats and sail ships! Sat and relaxed on the coastal rocks. Highly recommend for sure.

We only walked a portion of this 1.5 mile path but thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely stroll along the coast. The scenery is beautiful, loved hearing the waves crashing, interesting rock formations, roses were in abundant bloom along the path.... nice escape from the busy town. I guess it can get pretty crowded but it was not bad when we were there. The path is gravel and there are periodic accesses to the rocks and tidal pools below. If you are up for a walk this is the place to go.

Great leisurely stroll after a meal, or during a beautiful evening. Views are great, and atmosphere relaxing.

A lovely path along the harbor. You will view all kinds of yachts in the harbor, older beautiful homes , views of Frenchman’s Bay. Beautiful flowers and benches to sit and admire the views.

Great place to walk and catch your breath. Fabulous views of the harbor and islands. Historical markers along the way. Easy access to beach if you want to explore. Great for dog walks.

We fell in love with Acadia 33 years ago and if health allows we will continue to visit for the rest of our lives. The shore path allows you easy access to wonderful views and right in the town of Bar Harbor

This path is very easy, very scenic and very close to downtown. This was a perfect activity to do after dinner. We watched the boats set sail for the evening cruises and also were able to watch lobster traps being checked. We probably spent about an hour on the path as we stopped frequently to take pictures and enjoy the scenery. Probably best described as a stroll. Highly recommend.

We have been visiting Bar Harbor and hiking in Acadia National Park for 12 years. We walk the Shore Path every morning before breakfast. Have photographed so many fishing boats, Margaret Todd, the rocks at low and high tide, and an occasional deer. Many others also find this a perfect place to start the day as there are folks walking with dogs, running or just sitting with a cup of coffee.

This was a very easy, romantic walk. Please take the time to do it. Plenty on benches to sit and enjoy the view.

Pretty place to take a nice walk and some photos. It wasn’t crowded whatsoever so it was nice! I would recommend it if you are done with the park for the day.

This is just a paved walkway that goes along the waterfront. There are a couple benches here and there to sit. Be careful in spots where the pavement has cracked and you can lose your footing if you are not watching where you are going. I didn't take it to the end, but it was nice to have a free place to go. It is not a hike, just a walk over pavement. The coast is not as rocky as Newport, RI, rather flat with stony beaches.

Not sure what to do before your dinner reservation? This is an idyllic pathway to take in bar harbor. It's a little busy near the town pier but gets quiet as you move further away from town. You can see glimpses of backyards. And its perfect light at the sun is setting.

The 1/2 mile along the shore is lovely with great views of the bay. The houses you can see are somewhat interesting.

You just can’t skip this easy hike, it encapsulates all of the varied gems that are Acadia national Park. Gorgeous mansions, sail boats galore, fascinating rock formations, it begins and ends at the veranda restaurant at the Bar Harbor Inn which is always a treat.

Take the time to walk along the bay. The scenery is beautiful and you will learn more about Bar Harbor history. Definitely worth your time.

We did early morning walk at 6:30 am before the crowds descended on the park so we were able to park by Thunder Hole. Beautiful views.

Scenic way to walk and enjoy the harbor views where you can view islands and various boats. The level path is about 1/2 mile long and has beautiful landscaping, historical signs and benches to sit and rest. The walk takes you past beautiful homes and yards overlooking the harbor. I highly recommend this brief walk while visiting.

We loved this little junket along the coast accessible from the waterfront. Easy walk for a couple of seniors and great views along the way. Wanted to do it again but ran out of time.

This is a very easy and beautiful path to take a walk on. The views of the oceans are great and houses and large gardens along the path are grand as well.

The views of the water are great along this path but we enjoyed the beautiful mansions and resorts in the other direction too. There is also a nice park along the trail that has a grass area and benches with a view of the water. Pleasant place to take a walk.

This is a relatively easy walk with beautiful scenery.. lots of flowering plants and shrubbery. Our shipped was anchored close to shore and the path is very near the dock. We visited this park before touring Acadia National Park. After we walked through the park we continued on to downtown before our National Park tour.

If you're looking for a peaceful view to read a book or sip your coffee, this is it! This was a perfect shore path when we wanted to walk to the main harbor to board cruises without walking down the busy main strip of Bar Harbor.

Easy walking path with the water on one side and the lovely cottages on the other. It is right in town!

We enjoyed this peaceful easy lovely stroll along the shore path. Great photo ops along the way. A must do when in Bar Harbor!

If you’re staying in Bar Harbor, you need to take a walk on the shore path. I would recommend doing it every morning. It’s a nice way to start the day. Either watch the sunrise or just watch the boats and the nice scenery out in the horizon above the water if you don’t want to get up that early. Don’t forget to check it out at sunset too. It’s just a nice path to relax and take in the views, weather you want to get some exercise or just stroll around lazily and relax.

Sometimes you need to get away from town and enjoy the neighborhood along the coast. This is the short trail for you. It can be done safely late in the day or early whenever and it is flat with enough interest to drag children along (if needed). Tip: We saw deer up close one evening.

Go up Main Street and look for signs pointing the way to Shore Path. This 1/2 walk is easy, a level one experience back to the docks downtown.

A great morning walk ! We stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn and would watch the walkers and runners from our balcony. We loved walking that path !

Start out at the docks at Agamont park and look to your left -East (with your back to the dock), you will see the start of the path. It is not long (.5 miles) but will show you great views of the water and historic homes and take you by some beachy areas.
The path was built in 1880 at a time when Bar Harbour became a popular spot for holidaying. Pictures steamboats bringing in the elite from neighbouring cities.
Walk to the end of the path - if you are looking to come back on a different road, just turn off at the end and find your way back on one of the town's main streets.

In on a cruise ship, in the morning we birded with a professional guide. In the afternoon we had lunch and headed here for a peaceful stroll. Along the way I captured photos of birds and nice gardens. I do recommend this, it’s free, it’s exercise and enjoyable!

Had a balcony that bordered the shore path so we got to watch many walkers and joggers take it. A beautiful walk right along the ocean! A real bonus for staying at the Bar Harbor Inn.

We arrived late in the day. Mission was ice cream and a walk along the shore path. Ended at the Town pier for a fabulous dinner.

Beautiful stroll along the water; very very close to my hotel. Loved this path- you can see the terrain. I woke up at 5:30am to see the sunrise and take pics. It was worth it!

Great views of the harbor and easy trail to walk with family or less mobile folks. It begins by the Harbor Inn and dock area and extends past some pretty properties.

We had a great walk along the seashore with a lovely view over Frenchaman Bay, that's takes about an hour to do. You can watch the cruise ships come in and some beautiful private homes on the Bay. We really enjoyed the Shore Path. It is really a lovely, memory making experience if you visit Bar Harbor. Probably better during the week and off-season than on a busy summer weekend where there should be less people.

Had a dinner at Havana, that's where this path starts. Walked all the way to town pier - that's where out hotel was. It's a walk along the shore - nothing more than that

Wonderful walking trail along the harbor . I walked this path every night after dinner and a couple times in the morning . Easy to get to from the Bar Harbor Inn or West St we got up the first morning here to see the sunrise . Nice benches to sit at and relax lots of seagulls eating along the way . Just be careful if you go down the the rocks they are very slippery . Small boats tour along the harbor .

As a local who used to live in town, the shore path is a lovely and short jaunt that one can extend or shorten depending on one's mood. Sunsets are better from the bar to Bar Island, so better to walk the path early in the morning or midday to enjoy the light on the water. We've seen harbor porpoises from the shore path, loons and other seabirds. Avoid the path when there's ice on the ground--it can be quite treacherous.

This is a pleasant place to stroll along the ocean and learn a bit of history from the signs posted along the way. Look for the huge "erratic" rock left here by a glacier 10,000 years ago. The 1/2 mile long, out and back flat gravel path provides a great view of the harbor and some beautiful properties along the waterfront.

Wonderful little walk with easy access from several locations in town. I have seen some beautiful sunrises here and it’s a good start for a great day.

I loved walking this path every morning. The views are breathtaking and it's just a quick walk to shops, restaurants and hotels.

A must if visting town. Easy walk 45 minutes with lots of informative signs about the history of this fabulous town.

This is a quiet and easy walk along the shore. Wonderful view of the harbor. The day we were there, a cruise ship was docked at Bar Harbor and the views were excellent. There are joggers all along and it was not very crowded early in the morning. There are places where you can climb down to the edge of the water as well. There are signs all along the path about Bar Harbor.

This is a lovely walk to take as you explore downtown Bar Harbor. It isn't too long and we walked it several evenings with family and friends. If you start at the Town Pier you can loop around to Main street south of the Village Green. The path is gravel and it is just wide enough to accommodate people walking in both directions. We had one child in the umbrella stroller and it was a tiny bit bumpy in some spots but managed just fine, a larger stroller will fit on the path and bigger tires may make for a smoother ride. The path has some steep drop offs and does not have barriers near the edges so kids can climb down to the water and explore but keep a close eye on little ones that are unstable on their feet or that are prone to running off.

Great place to see the sunrise. Very easy to get to for a nice stroll after dinner in downtown Bar Harbor.

My wife and I were only in town for one day on a Celebrity Cruise Ship. After lunch we took a stroll down the shore path. We walked all the way to the end and enjoyed every second. It was low tide and The was lots to see. Beautiful scenic path for people of all ages to enjoy

Nice oceanside walk from the town pier to Wyman Street out by the hospital and YMCA. See some of the old time cottages from an ocean side view. Make it a loop by starting out infront of the Bar Harbor inn - walk the Shore Path then walk out to Rte. 3 and turn right and walk back into town. May take you about a hour.

This is a peaceful walk along the shore with views of the harbor. Flowers, rock formations, ship activity, and peace away from the hustle of the downtown. Well worth the stroll especially after dinner!

Took a brisk walk of Shore Path when I got off our cruise ship. Nice, quiet leisure walk with beautiful land scape.

Scenic paved walk easily accessible from anywhere on main St. Amazing views of the porcupines, balanced rock and the Atlantic ocean. Great place to see all sorts of birds and the stars at night. Highly recommend it as well as dinner at the veranda bar at the balance Rock inn on the shore path

Great photo ops here, with interesting placs along the path that have pictures and history. Take the pat at the foot of the Bar Harbor Inn, just past the marina

It's so great that the property owners have allowed us access to the shore and a peak at their lovely yards!!

I would reccomend doing this more than once. We did it the first time in the evening and then came back during the day, had lunch and walked it again. Beautiful area and easy walk.

It's an easy walk in town that is as much about architecture as views of nature. It was not crowded at all around sunset. Most crowds during the day I think. I like that we could smell the ocean and have the big open views, then turn to the city and not be far from a drink and a lobster. Worth it.

Excellent place fior a great walk, paved walk way, along the coast of Maine. We were very fortunate as there were 3 cruise ships in the harbor, what a sight. The walk starts in front of the Bar Harbor Inn, where they have outside dinning. While the Shore Path is short 1/4 of a mile it is worth taking the time to visit it. The walk is very easy on older folks.

Family friendly. Easy going walk. Lovely way to spend a half hour.
Hugs the harbor giving you breathtaking views!

Super easy 1/2 mile trail along the water. A must for your trip to Bar Harbor. Once you get to the end, turn around or walk up the path to downtown.

The view of on the Shore Path is breathtaking. As are many of the beautiful "cottages" that make Bar Harbor such a special destination. So grateful the landowners and the town have creates such a special, nature-inspired experience.

A salute to Bar Harbor for this jewel of a walk, affording multi-million-dollar views of Frenchman Bay to all! Even on a rainy day, the seascape of rocky/kelpy shore, a wide variety of vessels on the move or secured, and wooded islands is the equal of many available in the adjacent Acadia National Park. In the other direction, magnificent estates and gardens, maintained to a widely varying degree that only adds to their charm. The interpretive signs are also lovingly maintained little works of village art. Parking at a very reasonable price can be found; just follow the signage leading you off the main tourist thoroughfares.

This is a very easy, scenic walk and I suggest walking the entire length and back down the street through the shops. It’s not too far and the scenery never gets boring. Stop in at The Independent for a coffee and blueberry muffin!

the rocks, mansions, and scenery out on the ocean was special. We enjoyed this walk more than the other attractions.

This is a nice change from sitting on a bus. You walk up the trail and see beautiful ocean scenery and old homes and then turn in and walk down the Main Street. A nice walk and exercise.

One of our favorite activities during our stay in Bar Harbor! We looked up when low tide was and arrived early to watch the shore path reveal itself. Once we were able to walk across, there was an easy two-mile hike on the island with a slightly elevated view of Bar Harbor. Highly recommend for a nice stroll!

Took this early in the morning from the town dock. walk the path to the end make a right and go back to Main Street which brings you to downtown Bar Harbor. approximately three-quarter mile loop. Path is 1/2 mile. Not advisable for small children as there are no railings and very easy to fall ten or more feet down onto the rocks or into the water at high tide

This path is about a mile long and runs along Frenchman's Bay from Agamont Park in front of the Bar Harbor Inn. It offers great views of the water, shoreline, and boats in the bay.

This was a fun stroll around the busy street in town to walk from our rental to the harbor. Nice views.

A nice walk at your own pace along the coast line from the Park by the Pier to the opposite end of Town. Gives a view of the cruise ships if they are in port. There are some historical signs along the way to view. It's worth the walk.

We used the path to view the sunrise over the harbor. We decided not to try the crowds on Cadillac mountain. The view from the harbor was fantastic. Catching the lobster boats as they headed to their traps was an interesting bonus. If you are staying on that side of Bar Harbor, there are a couple of pathways back up the hill versus going all the way back to the port area.

A hidden gem. Lovely path from Grant Park and the parking lot there into town that goes along the harbor and in front of the Bar Harbor Inn property. Path may go beyond Grant Park.

Beautiful stroll down the path! Exceptionally good when you stay at the bar harbor inn! Short path but worth the walk

You get great views of the harbor, the channel and when you look the other way-many beautiful manors and b&b's. Do not stop at the end and turn around like most-continue back into the village and make a loop.
Great way to walk off dinner, eat an ice cream, or in the fall drink a cup of coffee. At sunset you can get lucky and see the Margaret Todd at full sail.

Not a lot to say here other than it is a beautiful walk along the coastline. It is peaceful and serene. The path is about a half a mile long, with historical pieces of information posted along the way. I highly recommend it. There are a couple places where you can get off the path and head towards town.

It was a nice walk around the ocean shore. It was a great view and short walk. I would recommend this walk

We thought this would be a quick walk to see Balance rock but it turned into a long evening stroll. The pathway was an easy flat path with lots of benches so you can stop if needed…or just sit to admire the scenery. The views are beautiful and there are some neat areas to explore if you venture down off the paved walkway. Balance Rock was definitely a highlight of our walk but we appreciated everything we saw.

Stroll down the shore path located behind the Bar Harbor Inn. It has breathtaking views and is about a mile and a half long. It was a highlight of our stay!

Easy, level path along the shore. Easy to walk the whole length. Nice places to stop along the way. Gorgeous views of the water, beaches, sailboats, rocky shoreline!

Great way to see the beauty of the shore, the homes along the way & the ships in the harbor. It's an easy walk with flat paths and nice spots to stop along the way. I highly recommend taking the walk.

Shore Path is a lovely path along Frenchman Bay. One may stroll leisurely along the coast or use the path to go to and from town. It is especially convenient for those staying at the Bar Harbor Inn as it goes right by the Ocean Front building, pool area, and restaurants, or take the path to and from the harbor area.

Bar Harbor is known for its stunning coastal beauty, its many yachts and lobster boats. So in town for the day on a cruise and wanting something to do? This is an easy walk, from the town pier. The Shore Path winds along the bay overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Porcupine Islands, and then heads back into the town. It's a great way to spend the time on shore. The town is really quite quaint and has lots of shops and restaurants. We had the lobster dinner (for lunch) at the Route 66 restaurant. It comes with clam chowder, lobster and blueberry pie, very yummy!

The views are spectacular. The path is very easy and narrow which contributes to the congestion. If crowds aren’t a problem you’ll really enjoy the walk. Be sure to visit the sand beach after you finish this!

After doing the tour at the Breakers mansion we took a short walk to the cliff walk. It was a shore walk to the cliff walk. The cliff walk was so enjoyable the view of the sea on 1 side and beautiful homes on the other plus you walk by this university and from just how it looks you would want to attend.
The walk was not to long and there are benches along the way to rest. At the end of the walk we jump on a cab 5 minutes later we at he tender for our ship

A great easy path with incredible views. Great spot to watch the boats go by. Plenty of benches and even restrooms at the end. Even a spot to buy cold water from a self-serve cooler.

As you pass the pier, and the big inn at the edge of town, you walk along a beautiful path that over looks Frenchmen’s bay. It’s an amazing walk, level and great for everyone.

Great start of the day. Best pictures for memories. Walk off breakfast and or dinner. Experience the views the ocean has to offer

There are lots of trails to discover in Acadia National Park. If you're not looking for a very strenuous one, park at the Sand Beach and walk a few (mostly flat) miles to at least the Thunder Hole

This path has wonderful views of the water and the harbor as well as unique old inns and houses on the other side. Doesn't take long and it's easy to loop around through the downtown quaint shopping area.

We walked this path late morning. I found it to be very beautiful and plenty of things take pictures of. DH only walked the path, where went down onto the rocks to get better pictures. There were a few benches and a small park to sit down to catch your breath.

Great way to see a lot of the big highlights of Acadia. Flat and easy path - some slightly difficult cliff areas that you can explore if you would like.

An easy stroll by the sea. You will see various Mansions and if you are interested take one of the side lanes(the one at the end of the shore) and you will see the house where the Hope Diamond lived for awhile. Also on the shore you will see a rock (huge huge) it was left there when the ice receded during the ice age.

We had beautiful cool weather, Bright sunny day and enjoyed the Shore path which is an easy walk for 1/2 mile, 1 mile roundtrip from the Harbor pier. My wife and I love to walk along the sea shore and this was a very scenic walk looking out on the bay with the boats and ships going about there day. The path follows the rocky shoreline with Mansions on the opposite side of the path.

Worth setting the alarm. We parked at Otter Point around 7am, took our time walking the shore, stopping at every outlook. Sat on rock ledges, watched a seal hunt a school of fish. Finished at Sand Beach parking and caught a shuttle back to the car with our dogs. We started early enough that we had the view points to ourselves. It was getting busy by the time we reached Sand Beach.

This is a simple trail along the shoreline in Bar Harbor. There are numerous signs along the path providing historical context, but the path has been around since the late 1800s.
It’s an easy walk with several areas to stop and sit, if needed. You’ll have lovely views of the water along with views of several resorts and large private properties along the coastline.
There are several areas where you can leave the path and climb down to the water over the rocks. Beautiful, scenic, and relaxing!

Nice way to see some beautiful homes and enjoy the view of the islands off the coast of Bar Harbor. It’s a gravelly path and you can also see Balance Rock on the rocky beach.

Easy walk. Maybe a mile one way. Worth the time. Climb down onto the rocks. Safety first. Great pictures. Scenic and great.

A great place to walk a bit after you have eaten your fill of lobster and desserts. This is an easy walk and gorgeous views of the ocean. It is fun to see the historic homes as you walk. A perfect place for a stroller, but might hold hands with walking kids as there are some places close to the edge of the wall that could be dangerous. We needed just a little bit of exercise but didn't want to have a serious sweat or exertion. This fit the bill perfectly.

Great walk for the evening to see some beautiful old homes with gorgeous views. Short flat path from the town park to the residential area.

So our hotel is on the path and we stroll down the path every night. Relaxing, great views, just enjoyable.

I really enjoyed the scenery and the opportunities to go out on the rocks in different areas. The Bar Harbor area is beautiful.

This path is not too long and not at all challenging. While you are walking between the water and some beautiful homes, don't expect to get too many views of the homes. The shoreline however is very pretty and on a gorgeous day, a lovely place to walk.

Great way to see some beautiful homes, shoreline and read some history. Easy grade and lots if benches. Right off of the waterfront. Nice way to get a stroll in.

Beautiful walk along rocky shore line. Loops back into town. Enjoyed the peace and quiet of nature. Easy walk for almost anyone.

The shore path has historical markers and information along the way. We didn’t have a brochure to accompany us but just ambled and read what interested us. Lovely views and informative boards.

It was a nice easy after-dinner walk in the evenings. Just can't beat the scenery. The path is wide and smooth.

Went on this walk with our 4 kids ranging from 19-9 they enjoyed walking down on the rocks at low tide. They thought balance rock was very cool. Nice coastal walk

The walk is approximately 1/2 mile along the shore leaving from the waterfront park in Bar Harbor. You may walk back along the park or return by walking back through the town (which we did). It provides a great view of the shoreline and there are various signposts to read along the route. It is basically flat and comfortable for most strollers.

I took a walk down shore path yesterday and it was lovely!!!!! Places to sit and rest and also some off paths going back into town, should you find yourself tiring. The path is wide with a lovely view the while length! Great walk in the fresh ocean air!!!!

The afternoon was beautiful...sunny, clean crisp air, a beautiful day to walk. I meandered down the shore path which starts at the Bar Harbor Inn and skirts quite a few private homes along the shoreline. Perhaps two thirds of a mile or so...views are sensational...
The walk itself doesn't take much time...there are benches for those who would like to sit and reflect. Enjoy!

We walked part of Shore Path while waiting for the sunrise. Great early walk to do plus there were plenty of places to take pics of the sunrise and see the lobster boats go out. Some beautiful houses on the way.

Lovely stroll along the shore past mansions, B and B s, a park. Rocks to climb on , high and low tide both beautiful. Side path to walk back through town if you do not want to walk back along the shore.

We love this path and walk it Every time we come to the island. There are some high spots so be sure to hang on to your young children. The rocky coastline is so beautiful any time of year.

Most of the path is closed for work. The area we could actually get to was nice. You can go around the hotel at the harbor and pick up the path in one of their parking lots.

Even though it was a foggy, chilly evening, the walk along the shore path was wonderful. It is relaxing to walk along listening to the crashing waves. The rosa rugosa were starting to bloom - amazing that this beautiful rose is salt resistant. All in all this is a great place to take a stroll in any weather.

This walk borders the harbor and waterfront. It is lovely and flat with tremendous vistas. The walk is posted with informative signage. You can walk as much or as little as you wish.

Must see and easy walk!! All ages. Beautiful to watch the water and boats. Places to sit along the shoreline. Not very long of a walk. Homes that back up to the path are gorgeous. Go on a cool breezy day.

Every day while in Bar Harbor I went for a walk in the path
It is a very easy walk if you like walking.
Flat and even though it is not paved is very well taken care
And the view!!!!!! Nothing to compare.
Sunrise or sunset it is a must to be seen

Rented a home by bbanys@gmail.com that was amazing to start off with. Right down street from path, which is a beautiful, easy walk to downtown. We did the walk in the evening and never felt uncomfortable. The whole week in Bar Harbor was wonderful except for COVID-19 closing so many businesses. But we still managed to have a great time.

We walked this several times, enjoying views of the ocean and schooner departing. It was never crowded. We found this to be a nice way to see the ocean and get some exercise for free! About 1.5 miles round trip. Easy walk. We didn't do it, but you can walk it early and see the sunrise. Highly recommend!

This path doesn't show up in any of the hiking books. Snobs they are. It seems this walking path does quite match up to being called a hiking path. Ok. But it is a beautiful path along the shore of the park. We walked the full length, and then made our way to the bar island land bridge.

Walk along the beautiful shore surrounded by gardens, so peaceful. We enjoyed seeing so many families together. The path is very wide and goes I. Front of many beautiful hotels and homes

Really beautiful walk with excellent views of many Acadia must see. Sand Beach, Lighthouse, Thunder Hope and lots of picture opportunities.

on an unbelievably windy and misty day, the path provided what I believe to be quintessential Maine! rocky coastline, crashing waves, heavenly fresh air, beautiful vistas, fantastic homes, and an easy walk for a non-energetic traveler!!!

Shore path is a must see in Bar Harbor. The path is beautiful and the views amazing. Take a seat on one of the benches and watch the boats pass by. Great place for a walk in the morning or late afternoon.

The shore path is a great way to see Acadia National park. It begins in town, however you can drive out the Park Loop and catch it out in the National Park. Pretty easy walking if you stay on path. There are areas that you can get off path and walk down onto the rocks if you feel a bit adventurous. Great views of Otter Cliffs, Shore path in town offers views of great older homes along Frenchman's Bay.

This is a very nice walk to see part of Bar Harbor and I loved the signs with the history/information about the area on them. The views were amazing!
Nice walk with beautiful views
We loved walking the Bar Harbor shore path. It's well cared for and the views are spectacular! We especially enjoyed the smell of the wild roses growing along the path. It's a must do.
