This place is awesomeness all wrapped up. Breath taking and more. They were setting up for a wedding expo so we were able to look around uninterrupted. I'd love to actually see a show or movie there. Weddings are on expensive side but it would definitely be memorable.

I have been to the Rialto for both plays and receptions. It is a most interesting venue, something right out of the 1920s and filled with history, glitz and glitter. The detail in the ceiling, wall and flooring is amazing and it is truly a benefit to Joliet to have this historical gem preserved. If you have never been to the Rialto, get yourself tickets to the next event and enjoy the event a a rich piece of local history.

Gorgeous European grandeur for this historic venue with mirrors and chandeliers. Wedding reception would be memorable here. Near train station to Chicago and nearby casino/hotel complex. Comes with reported friendly spirit(s).

By lzolecki |

everyone should have the chance to visit the Rialto. It is absolutely beautiful. I have been there for movies when I was dating. I have been there for concerts, plays, recitals, classes with Community Leadership School, Festival of trees and other events, including an Anniversary party and a memorial for Rob Calcaterra

By far we were not only thrilled with the beautiful Rialto setting and location to lovely architectural photos for my daughters wedding. But when our church had another commitment and we couldn’t use the sanctuary for the ceremony the Rialto’s stage was just beautiful and so much better having the entire event in one location. Our guests didn’t even hear the storm raging outside while we were in the ceremony. It was a beautiful dance floor and dinner fit perfectly in the hall. Just beautiful photos to remember now!

We have attended this lovely theater many times, and just went to see Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas Spectacular here! We sat back pretty far, but there are no bad seats in this theater. They sell pop and alcohol there, and fare like cookies and cakes. Space is utilized well for autograph sessions, and the floors sparkle with cleanliness. Memberships are available for various events, and there is an elevator open to the public should there be a patron who cannot handle stairs. Beautiful lighting, marble walls and fixtures. Park in city parking garage two blocks away. It's a gem in an old city on the river!

We were recommended to come here to see a play. WOW this ole time theatre is and was great. Comfortable seats and great staff.

By catsmeow22 |

This is one of those beautiful old theaters saved from the wrecking ball. It is unbelievably ornate, with huge crystal chandeliers, winding staircases to the upper level, marble floor and columns in the lobby, and detailed, gold trimmed carving throughout. There is not a bad seat in the house. Joliet and the southwest and western Chicago suburbs are lucky to have this Grand Dame in our midst.

If you are looking for a stunning venue then you have found it. The Rialto Theater is the GEM of downtown Joliet and is utilized for a variety of functions. From weddings, fundraisers, theater and concerts. The auditorium is of a large capacity and definitely a rare find to be able to sit in such a beautiful venue. The Rialto Theater will take you back in time as you take in the elegance.

The Rialto theatre is a rare beauty of the past. I have seen many amazing shows here. If there is something to see that interests you, go!

By Jeff S |

IDEAL venue for concerts. Vaudeville era theater restored to perfection; this was built before sound amplification so audio is excellent. I've been here dozens of times.
Rialto also provides tours and if you have the chance do not pass it up.

By Edward M |

Wonderfully restored Grand Old Lady! One is transported to the past when you enter the beautiful lobby. It transport you to a time when life was more gentle and gracious. All too few buildings are being saved to show our history. Joliet has a fine gem!

By pd7 |

Unfortunately, the main building was closed when we visited. However, the vestibule/foyer area was open and is well worth seeing. The outside is also very attractive so we did not count the trip as wasted - especially as we lunched at the nearby Route 66 Diner (good food/friendly staff/inexpensive).

"The Duchess" Is the largest Austrian Crystal Chandelier in the United States.

Awesome to see !!

This Performing Arts Palace Has many different nationally known performers annually.

By beezdee |

Beautiful venue. Intimate setting. Great place to see shows and concerts. No bad seats. Highly recommended

By darlita |

beautiful, beautiful, looking around is GREAT. brings back bygone eras.

By travelgirl1NewYork |

Beautiful Theater in downtown Joliet. The only bad thing I can say is parking is not the best ~ but that is what you get when you are in a downtown area. Great comedy show!

By Adesso23 |

I live in the area and have been to The Rialto for several events. It feels very grand inside with old fashioned elegance and drama. The Christmas Tree event in the winter months is always fun. I've seen Jeff Dunham the ventriloquist, Stomp, and a few other things here. Theatre is beautiful and you can see pretty well from all the seats. A downtown Joliet favorite!!

By Kenneth M |

If you have experienced one or more of the renovated theaters in Chicago (Like the Chicago Theater) and liked the atmosphere of a vintage 20th century theater, you need to consider attending a performance at the Rialto Square Theater in Joliet. The beautiful and ornate venue offers an annual performance series and many special appearances as well. Rich in tradition, this theater boasts one of the largest theater organs found anywhere, and a bill featuring a wide variety of professional talent. Add to this the wonderful acoustics and you are in for a treat. Upon entering, you will wish you had arrived in evening dress in a limosine.

By Itravelalot2011 |

If you have not seen a show here you must, this place has so much history it is just beautiful. A must see if you come to down town Joliet.

By Arunas B |

This is a beautifully restored theater that has a variety of entertainment venues that are scheduled during the year and the size is great, since you can still see the folks on the stage even in the "cheap" seats so to speak. Parking is good and not expensive like Chicago is.

By purplegirl20 |

This theatre is beautiful and has so much to offer in terms of entertainment. This fall there is a wide variety of shows being offered to satisfy many tastes. October winds up their summer monthly $5 movies. Christmas us right around the corner with the Nutcracker, It's A Wonderful Life, organ concert and the local VFW Band.
Check it out!

By eppshel |

We did not expect the theatre would be this drop-dead gorgeous. When we walked inside, our jaws just dropped! We would be glad to make the 3 hour trip again. What a beautiful theatre!

By M W |

This is truly a classic theatre. We had excellent seats in the middle Row V for a comedy show. Great acoustics and temperature was fine for our weird winter/spring weather. The biggest complaint is so few women restroom accommodations. There was a huge line prior to the start of the show. Because of the age of the theatre they are probably limited to be able to address this issue. "Go" somewhere else before the show.

By TAXGUY_10 |

Recently went to see Glen Campbell. We had never been to the Rialto before. The theater was easy to find with ample nearby parking. The inside is beautifully refurbished, and the lighting and acoustics were great. My main complaint is with the seats - not the width, but the distance between rows. I am about 6 feet tall, and my knees were pressed up against the seat in front of me. We got there early, and it was interesting to see the reaction of other tall people as they tried to sit down. Luckily for us, we were on the aisle, so I was able to swing my legs out into the aisle to stretch out. This is also one of the few places I have been where there was a huge line to use the mensroom at intermission.

By Terry D |

We have seen many shows concerts and movies from Tony Bennet and Vice Gill to Jerry Seinfeld and love the
venue the seats are comfortable and the in and out of the shows are very easy with ample parking close by.

By bardock578 |

This place has been a place of wonder for me since I was a child. I absolutely love it here. It's beautiful and the staff is very accommodating.

By Marcy D |

This beautiful theatre was designed by the same architect that designed the Chicago Theatre. The main entrance is designed after the "Hall of Mirrors" in the Palace of Versailles. The huge chandelier in the main area is called the Duchess and is a work of art in itself. The Gold leaf design and figures in the theatre seating are is a story in itself. The theatre has stage plays, movies, artists and in the week before Christmas they also host the Festival of Trees.
I love this theatre!

By Bill M |

This is a classic Midwest 19th Century Opera House. It's ornately decorated and well-maintained. Rialto has a regular schedule of acts ranging from the unique to the famous. This is a great place to visit just to walk through, but it's an even better venue for one of their shows.

By Pasm28 |

This place is gorgeous! It is very nostalgic and comfy for seeing shows, but they also host events such as fundraisers and weddings.

By Sheila G |

We've been coming here since I was a young girl!! Love to come here for concerts. It's a beautiful place to look at!!
The artwork in this building is really something you have to experience.
Great employees. Small venue, not huge at all, the good thing about that is the seats that are farther back aren't that bad. If you get a chance go see something at The Rialto!!

By Anne D |

John Tesh and the big band sound. His Christmas special. Great show and would do this again. His participation with the audience was a lot of fun. Some of the old songs by Glenn Miller was great to hear since I grew up with that type of music. Great!

By RexGermanorium |

We went to see "Away in a Basement" a one night stand play. We enjoyed the play and also enjoyed a good excuse to see the refurbished Rialto Theater, the Jewel of Joliet. We ate about a half block away and walked to the Theater.
The entrance is a long hallway with mirrors and crystal chandeliers. In a cost effective society it seems like an enormous waste of space, but they managed to hawk tickets for a raffle to support the theater.
The rose colored marble columns were impressive until you touched it and realized this is not marble, perhaps a plastic laminate. Oh, well, tinseltown was never very real either. I thought the gold paint was a little flat, gold leaf would have been quite expensive.
The seats were alright, row Z seems a long way from the stage. The sound system could be improved. I heard some backfeed humming from time to time and couldn't undersand all the dialogue.
Refreshments are available and fairly reasonable, although $2 for a pint of water seems a little high, but it all goes for a good cause.

Went to the Realto Square theatre in Downtown Joliet as part of the Broardway Series and went to see Ragtime on February 7 and it was outstanding. This is a beautiful theatre and the shows are very good. This one was outstanding and the cast was excellent. Going to see a tribute to Carol King next which I think will be just as good.

By Jon L |

What a great historical site! Enjoyed the show, and didn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. Will be back.

By LindaSD35 |

This is a great place to see theatre productions and musical talents. The place is old fashioned and beautiful and hosts a large selection of shows. A great family venue.

By Shauna-AaronA |

This is a great place to enjoy entertainment without having to go into the city. They publish their schedule of events well in advance, so that you can plan when to visit. They have something for everyone from comedy to magic to music and more. I love the inside, too. I can't wait to go see Colin and Brad's comedy show later this year.

By Angie_Ohio |

The Rialto Square Theatre opened in 1926. The theater was designed in the Neo-Baroque style. The ornate theater is gorgeous! It was originally a vaudeville movie palace. It now has occasional shows for plays, concerts, etc.

I just wish the theater would be more accessible to those that journey down Route 66. Considering the theater is on lists of sights to see, it would be nice to be able to stop in. I'd even throw a donation in a box. :)

By Ron E |

You got to see it for yourself to appreciate its beautiful. More beautiful than the theatres in Chicago.

By Mary D |

I have been attending events at the Rialto since the 1950's when as a child we used to go watch movies. They have completely overhauled and restored this gem of a theatre. The seats are comfy and I don't think there is a seat in the house with a bad view. This theatre is comparable to the Paramount in Aurora, Il. They used to book acts like Crystal Gayle , Jerry Seinfeld, and Oak Ridge Boys and other comedy and singing groups. The past few years the talent has waned and there have not been many shows I personally care to see.
They do host a beautiful festival of Christmas Trees and tea with Santa and the holiday decorations go all out. I wish they would bring in some more interesting talent for the shows. The theatre is just georgeous
and it's a shame they don't use it more for shows that are more interesting.

By yvonnekM6330IF |

There are many events going on... I was there for the Christmas trees around the world... it was Beautiful

By 940SJ |

Saw a play at Rialto. The seating was very comfortable. The accoustics were great! The setting is just so gorgeous! All the gold, the chandeliers, the artwork on the high ceilings...so romantic! I could imagine weddings/receptions in the foyer. Love it!

By Gina C |

You have to see something here at least once. I don't think there is really a bad seat in the house. The lobby and theater are absolutely beautiful with chandeliers and carvings on the ceiling.

By ajsgrammy |

The Rialto is a beautifully restored theater originally built in the 1930s Good entertainment venue.

By Bruce M |

It's a similar experience to Chicago's great theaters, but an hour away in Joliet. Of course, what counts most is "Who's there?" If you notice that someone you want to see in playing, I recommend checking out the Rialto. I'll be you'll go back!

By harold m |

Don't miss this place if there happens to be anything you're interested in seeing--and that's an issue. Because the programming is erratic, it's hard to plan a visit from out of town. Easy parking. Free. Admission varies, but is never too high. And the place is an architectural treat from the 1930s.

By wennmac |

I have seen concerts here as well as comedy. A comfortable place to see a show and a great small venue.

By Chandlerk7 |

We had tickets to see Olivia Newton John perform in this theater, and sadly, her performance was canceled and rescheduled. Unfortunately, we will not be here in August for the rescheduled performance. We went down to the theatre this morning to see if they had any tours we might take, so we could actually see the theatre. Once again, we were out of luck. But, one of the theatre employees overheard our conversation about coming all the way from Utah to see this theatre, and he offered to let us in for a few minutes to look around. We were so grateful for this kind offer. The theatre was beautiful and it is an credit to this community to preserve such a historic site.

By Norma S |

Just revisited the Rialto last week for a show. Though I’ve been going here since I was a kid, it still never fails to amaze me. The architectural detail is remarkable. If you visit Joliet and miss the Rialto, you’ve missed the best attraction in town. It’s breathtaking.
Street parking is widely available and there are 2 lots very near by.

By skacian |

This is a wonderful old theater in downtown Joliet. I used to go there all of the time as a young girl to watch current movies. It is now a venue for concerts. It is worth a visit just to see the decor.

By Paul L |

I have been to the Rialto Theater a number of times in the past 15 years and every time I go there I am amazed all over again at the opulence inside this place. This place was built to impress, and it does not fail in that. It really must have been something to see in its' heyday, although it isn't half bad these days either. Whether you are going to see a play, a comedy act or a musical act I'm sure you will enjoy just looking at and wandering around the place. The only drawback that I can speak to is the tight seats. If you want to be comfortable in them you really have to almost be Twiggy ( who was a very skinny model from the "good old days") but other than that I highly recommend visiting this place for a show if you are in town. The experience is worth it. (P.S. - I indicated January 2015 only because I could not choose a month in an earlier year.)

By Earlmuck |

The Rialto has been restored to its past grandeur. What a beautiful hall and theatre! And their are bringing in better performances each year. We went Saturday and saw Mojo and the Bayou Gypsies. The hall was decorated for Mardi Gras, staff gave out beads, and vendors sold hats and masks so everyone could get in the spirit. It was a very fun night.

By 856RobertS856 |

I am a lifetime resident of Joliet, Il. Grew up as a child going to the Rialto and did not appreciate its beauty. I have traveled a lot in my lifetime and believe we have one of the most beautiful theatres in the world. There is not a bad seat in the house. I you can make it to Joliet you must see the Rialto.

By Joe Z |

Opulent, classy, like stepping back in time. Sight lines are excellent no matter where you sit. Acoustics are excellent.

By Rmangun |

Great location. Parking was easy at the bank lot south of the Rialto (on Sunday). A "live" family holiday event for our grandkids. Christmas decor and lighting provided many photo ops pre and post show. This theater provided a fantastic vehicle to present a live performance.

By William U |

Saw an amazing look alike performance at the Rialto theater last night called "Let the Led Out." Stairway to Heaven, Dazed and Confused and a Whole lotta love was excellent.

By Kathy C |

GREAT show! Even though I was at Woodstock 50 years ago it was wonderful to travel back in time! The sounds the clips, the music and of course the people! I made several friends there t and our friendships have lasted 50 years! What a different time that was! I’m thrilled I got to live it! This program truly does take you back to a time we will probably never get to experience again!!♥️♥️♥️

By 1988Steph1988 |

I went 4 times leading up to Christmas for variouss shows. I live the Rialto. I wad once a caregiver for one of the 2 original builders. The place is beautiful and historic. It's a must see if you are in town. Look up in advance who might be there playing. They promote different celebrities.

By Lilysmom665 |

We visited the Rialto when traveling to Joliet to visit family. A very nice place, but not in a great area. Understandable as it is old and historic, and the area around the Rialto was not kept up well. We really enjoyed comming here and seeing such a historic place.

By shoppergirl624 |

We attended the late show of Jim Gaffigan on 3/22/14. There is not a bad seat in the house! The theatre is beautifully restored. They had snacks and reasonably prices drinks (alcohol, soft drinks and bottled water) that you could bring into the theatre. The ushers escort each group to their seats so that slows things down a bit, but makes for fun people watching. We sat in section 3B row D which is the first row after the isle, and has a railing, not a wall in front of it so it offers more leg room. A nice venue for any event. The parking across the street is $3.00, a great value, and convenient.

By Debbie Greene |

I have seen hundreds of shows at the Rialto! It is spectacularly beautiful! If you are in town be sure and check it out for a show or a tour!

By sunrise124 |

I have been here for many concerts, plays and to see the Christmas trees. My first experience was when I was a chaperone for my daughters class and we toured the theater and saw how everything is run behind the scenes. I loved the wardrobe area. The costumes were so pretty.

By Bobolator |

going to the Rialto as a child makes it more special as an adult. What a beautiful facility. The seats are a
little tight but the venues take your attention. A true Joliet landmark.

By Claude T |

We attend several times each year and have always enjoyed the event/program.
A beautifully restored landmark for our area.

By Suz K |

The only outstanding architectural open venue is this amazing theater, unfortunately located in downtown Joliet. It offers an intimate setting and beautiful accoustics for any performance and the amazing details of the entire theater are a sight to behold. Even the changing of the light bulbs in the huge chandelier is an event here. It is also available for meetings and weddings.

Every seat is good, staff is knowledgeable and courteous and parking is reasonable and semi convenient. There are only a couple of dining choices downtown, not much better on the West side so it's better to plan ahead for meal options if you are planning an entire evening out.

By southernchef |

one of the best if not the best old time theatre in the state if not all the states

By Cathy K |

I have been to several events at the Rialto. There is not a bad seat in the house. Arrive early as there are often raffles and refreshments to set the tone for an evening of fun and relaxation!

By Gledia1 |

Let me just say Rialto Square Theatre was nothing short of AMAZINGGG! I just got married here on 08/18/2018 and let me tell you...from start to finish everything was PERFECT! I want to say how amazing of a person Nancy was to work with. Every question i had (and i had many) and every detail i wanted she made come to life! She answered my questions the same day if not the day after. She was so so great to work with and im very lucky i had her to help me with everything.

Planning a wedding at Rialto was very customized to everything I wanted because you have to book with a vendor to get everything. I worked with Mike from Polonia Catering for the food and they were GREAT to work with as well. They made sure everything i wanted came to life on my magical day.

Walking in to my wedding on my big day was nothing short of a fairy tail. My guests are still talking about how BEAUTIFUL the place was. No one had ever seen anything like it. There is no need for many decorations because the place speaks for itself. its BREATHTAKING.

To say Rialto Square Theatre wasn't a dream i would be lying. NANCY YOU ARE TRULY AMAZING and i cant thank you enough for making my day, the best day of my life.

By 219jeanie |

Rialto is simply gorgeous. Great place to see any show, there is not a bad seat in the house. Highly recommend. Been there several times. Off street parking and Several parking decks near.

By Jake M |

Great place to capture a show! My wife and I have seen comedians, bands, and plays here. It is a very beautiful theater.

By oscarbuzz |

We have attended several events at Rialto. From theater, to music to even old movies, it is always a pleasure and very price friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

By Timothy J |

Joliet should be proud. What a beautiful theater. It is wonderful to see places like this restored and cared for.

By jaddante |

Everything was handled first class. The service and prices were very good. street parking was available.

By MoMomof5 |

We really enjoyed seeing The Wiggles, in concert here.
We sat in the first balcony, and had a great view.
The theater is on The National Historic Registry and is absolutely beautiful!!!
It looks as if every seat has a good view of the stage.
The theater has been lovingly maintained .
Very elegant.
We parked in a public parking garage just around the corner, for free.
Great experience, friendly ushers.

By Jcmc_12 |

show was pretty good - slow start but got better during 2nd set. sound system either wasn't that great or the presenter mumbled at times since couldn't hear everything clearly

By picturethat1 |

Beautiful venue if you like historical settings. The staircase was an interesting background for photographs. The theater area was in need of some TLC. Needed better lighting.

By Bernardo F |

Even if I don't catch a show, it's still a nice drive or walk by attraction to see this nice old historic theater. They keep it up nicely both outside, and if you can get inside to look around even better.

By ibrpfarr |

Most beautiful facility in the Midwest. Auditorium is fantastic acoustics. The shows are reasonably prices.

By mountainoutin |

If you visit Joliet, you must visit the Rialto Square Theatre to experience its breathtaking "hall of mirrors" entryway, and also the elegant lobby and grand theatre. If possible take a guided tour with organ recital for a journey to the elegance of the 1920's.

By FamilyTripPlanner__9 |

Parking only $3 right across the street. Lots of police directing traffic, so we felt safe even with the show letting out at midnight. The lobby and theatre ceiling are gorgeous. It's one of those old time theatres. The bathrooms were not adequate to handing the ladies, so they opened some employee bathrooms behind the stage to accommodate. Easy in and out before and after show.

By Lucia P |

Good place to see different shows without paying an arm and leg. You can pretty much see from anywhere in theater

By jolietjeff |

Probably most beautiful theaters in the world 1930s carved statues, huge chandeliers really unbelievable and great views from every seat

By KC4444 |

Rialto Square Theatre is beautiful and comfortable venue for whatever is one stag. Have seen several shows - not a bad seat anywhere in the theatre.

By Kay V |

Not friendly to my family. Myself and young child are sitting seperate as that is all that was left for ticket choices. One week prior to show over 30 tickets "became" available - great seats and pairs that would allow a family to sit together. The manager of the theater would not allow me to change my seat in order to sit with my young daughter. It didn't matter that I paid top full price for my tickets, or that the tickets available were discounted, or that I offered to pay up extra fees for the curtesy, and it didn't even make a difference when ticketmaster tried to plead my case with the manager. Not nice and not family friendly. This is my first experience with the Rialto - I should have stayed with Chicago productions!

By DaBaronVH |

The Rialto has been around for over 70 years at least. My grandfather helped build it. The craftsman that were involved took tremendous pride in their work and the results are proof positive. This facility is gorgeous and provides a great background and venue for weddings, parties etc. The acoustics are very good and so is the seating in the theatre. Without a doubt a fine establishment struggling in a weakened economy and a dieing downtown to survive. It's not the fault of the facility. Perhaps just needs new management. Don't miss an opportunity to visit!

By Brian R |

This old theater is very cool. Went there for a concert and the sound quality is great. Very ornate, room upstairs was good for pre concert bar and buffet. Great place for a concert as it is not a huge concert venue and you can enjoy good views and feels personal. Parking was a block away and not very expensive.

By SharyK27 |

Awesome venue for plays or concerts! The older décor is charming & welcoming. I've never had a bad experience here.

By notimpressed764 |

The Rialto is a beautiful Theatre. They have many concerts playing and we enjoy going to the Rialto to watch special movies, after the Easter Parade.

By good2dogs |

I have been there for several concerts and never had a bad experience. Seats are all good, the acoustics are good and the volunteers who run the place are very friendly. My only suggestion is that they desperately need more bathrooms.

By Annaline |

One day I have to come back to experience it from the inside. I only saw it from the outside but it was still worth it to come to see it. The facade is so unusual with all this recessed niche and details. Awesome!

By LadyG1010101010 |

Beautiful theater. Really something to see, whether for an event or on a tour. Visited one time for a concert. Seats were average theater chairs but legroom was plentiful. Theater was clean.

We purchased our concert tickets in person at their box office. Friendly staff member took care of us and gave us a lot of her time in helping us select seats to purchase.

We hope to take their tour next visit to the Joliet, IL area.

By Bryan and Kevin O |

Seen Sinbad here
Nice cozy place, been around along time, if you watch the movie The Babe - staring John Goodman, Babe Ruth went to a show here, and this is the place where Boston Red Soxs owner decided to sell Babe Ruth to the Yankees.

By Johann20172017 |

The Rialto shouldn't exist. It was built years ago when beauty and grace where assumed in public buildings. In addition, there is a concert organ that is thrilling to hear. When you walk in you are in the midst of a palace. Light. Colour. Good. Opulence. It is now multiuse for concerns, parties, movies.

By Flyby0161 |

Incredible architecture, refreshed and top condition for musical venues. This is one of the most beautiful theaters, perfectly designed for intimate concerts, great acoustics. Grand venue and worthily of the best performers.

By Diane K |

My daughter had her wedding reception there this past weekend and we were all in awe of how beautiful the building was. There were many options of how to utilize the building: she choose to have her cocktail hour on the stage, then the guests were asked to take a seat in the theater and a short slide show of the bride and groom was shown on the "big screen". After that, all the guests were seated and the bridal party was announced from the balcony as they entered the reception from one of the two spiral staircases. The decor is so ornate that it felt like such a glamorous event. The primary purpose and the managements priority and interest is the arts- shows, concerts and entertainment. It is not easy to plan a banquet there- all of the vendors must be brought in (although they do have a preferred list) They do not have full kitchen facilities which makes dinner for 200 (or more) a challenge, but it can be done, and done well. Another nice touch was displaying the bride and grooms name on the theater marquis.

By circl8r |

There is nothing to dislike about the Rialto. The host great Broadway productions and current musical acts. Very much a family venue and soooooo beautiful!!

By Dorothy T |

Awsome shows with beautiful atmosphere. Don't get to go as often as I would like but when I do it is the best entertainment around.

By b0nnienedza |

A very inexpensive tour, and very enlightening. The tour guide was quite informative, with interesting tidbits about the entertainers that came through. Spent too much time in the kitchen. There was history there, but the air wasn't on and I was sweltering. I understand that for a couple a bucks( what the tickets costed), they don't turn on the air. I get it. All and all a very interesting tour!

By Laurel B |

This is one of the most beautiful theaters you will find in the world. Very flashy and historic--reminiscent of the 1920's--I bet it's older than that--don't know the history.

By Pat F |

Beautiful facility, like a trip into the past, amazing to see something like this in a small town like Joliet, beautifully restored and maintained

By Laura M |

I love going to events at this JEWEL, unfortunately the selection of entertainment doesn't interst me in the least. They did have a touring ballet troupe which we enjoyed very much...need more classical options.

By fitz49525 |

There was an event there so we could only peek in briefly. The hall way is absolutely spectacular and takes you back to an era of class and grace. The theatre is beautiful as well.

By Penny L |

It is a beautiful work of art. The auditorium is comfortable and acoustics have always been great.
This is a place used to hold many different venues. It is ideal for weddings and receptions. It is the major place for plays and musicals in this area.

By klb9876 |

Historic theater with great seats Throughout the house. Arrive early so you take in the architecture before the lights dim!

By GADFLY714 |

The theatre was built in 1926. Very ornate a beautiful building inside, Typical of the grand theaters of the era.

By Mary Z |

I went here to see the Ghost Hunters show. It was my first time at this theatre. What a beautiful theatre! It's small and the people who work here are very helpful and friendly. I kept staring at the walls and ceiling because it was all so breathtaking. I would highly recommend going here.

By DebDeGroot |

This place is gorgeous! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is there’s no organization when a movie releases. It’s kind of dangerous

By RUDY WOLF |

a beautiful restored theatre, well received by the entire region, plus a nice run show. and very clean inside too

The Rialto theater in Joliet is an historic landmark and is just beautiful inside with all of its gold features.

The inside of the theater is surprisingly intimate and smaller than I expected, but it was perfect for the comedy show we went to see with our girls.

The theater has a variety of shows all the time and I highly suggest you visit if you ever are in the area and have the time.

By Sewolf04 |

Staff was ultra accommodating. We had hoped to exchange a few words with the performers. When we arrived, it seemed there were just two local groups who would be afforded the opportunity. Since we had met with the performers at a previous concert, and occasionally correspond with them via email, Staff managed to successfully request admittance for us to the meeting area, where we spent about 10 minutes chatting with them.

Certainly a great rememberance of an enjoyable visit.

As usually I find the elegance of this theater to be beyond words. My girlfriend's grandson had a dance rehearsal there and it was wonderful.

By pastordarius |

I was present for my daughter's dance recital. The venue is absolutely beautiful! It is an historic site, therefore the seats can be considered somewhat tight. Other than that, it is a wonderful venue.

P.s. There is ample parking! I strongly suggest calling in advanced to see which lots will be opened and how much theyre charging to park.

I've been here so many times, and each experience is really magical. The Rialto is Joliet's crown jewel. It's beautifully preserved, and you fee like you have stepped back in time when entering the doors. It's like going out on the town in Chicago, but much closer to home and with far better parking rates. I just saw Sinbad there this October. Great show, great staff, and the theater is still in amazing shape. This should be at least a yearly tradition for everyone in Joliet and the surrounding area. They even get some pretty big names here. If you can see a show here around Christmas time, all the better. It's really enchanting for kids. The decorations set against the backdrop of the Rialto...well, going to the Rialto around the holidays are some of my favorite childhood memories. I felt so special when my parents took me there. And I still feel special going there today.

By nickrys |

My sister and I attended a concert on a cold snowy night. The warm atmosphere allowed us to leave the cold outside. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The venue is beautifully kept and clean. I can't wait to go back! We hope Wynonna will be back too!

By Bernice V |

Very beautiful place. Very enjoyable venue.Very friendly volunteers. A very beautiful place to go and enjo yourself

By dakotajude73 |

The Theatre is a very nostalgic piece of Joliet's history and is very beautiful on the inside. There's a parking garage across the street from the theatre as well as street parking and parking lots close by for evening shows. Seating was comfortable and view from the balcony was excellent. I was able to go there for the first time to see Yanni in concert. He is very talented and personable with the audience. Definitely will go back to see another show.Tickets were reasonably priced

By felechiam |

Great place to visit and see. Landmark for Joliet area. Great shows are held there. Christmas is the best time to see the place.

By marcym3804 |

Great theatre. Love the old charm of the decor, especially during the holidays. If you get a chance to hear the organ played, take it!

By joseph n |

this theater is completely renovated back to when it was first built.Seating to view a show is great.
sound is excellent.Going to an event there will be a very enjoyable time.

By Sharon R |

We have been customers for many moons. The theatre is stunning and the celebrities have all been amazing! The staff are so warm and kind! Just a beautiful theater with a lot of history!!

By hehldq |

We had will call tickets for an event and arrived 1/2 hour early. The line for the ticket agents was out the door. The ticket office looked as though they had never handled an event before. They should be embarrassed for not being prepared and professional. An entire lobbyful of attendees missed the first 20 minutes or so of programming. We had children with us who would have been dissappointed or we would have demanded a refund.

By Sandy H |

It's nice to see the Rialto offer a greater variety and quanrity of quality performances. The Paramount offers a greater value theater package, but it is very convenient to go to the Rialto. Still a beautiful theatre with amazing sound quality.

By Ron S |

I've been to a lot of shows and many many theaters in the past 40 years, but this has got to be the most beautiful theatre to see live performances that I've ever had to pleasure to see! We recently saw "Straight No Chaser" perform there. They're fantastic show was definitely enhanced by this beautiful performing venue. We will definitely be going back for one of their tours!!

By Sophonpanich T |

First time to visit this theatre. It's elegant and classic to let me enjoy a show in Joliet. Sure that I will come again when I stay in Chicago.

By Lisa P |

We have been here several times for concert, but most recent in December. This venue is a historical land mark and the inside is really something to see! It is a true throw back to the way theators use to be designed! They did an amazing renovation!

By Jeff R |

Attended the Mannheim Steamroller concert at this elegant and classic theater. The acoustics were great and the venue was comfortable. Take the time to explore the inside of the theater. Parking was easy. The surrounding area did not offer much after concert places to go - a quiet area. Will return for other concerts.

This is a beautiful historical theatre. I went here as a child and now accompanied by my granddaughter. The venue offers architecture , plenty of leg room in aisle rows, comfortable seats and great entertainment.

By Andrew V |

If you like to see a show, in a beautiful old theater, this is a great place to do it. Have seen Rain, Cheap Trick, American English, and other shows here. For music performances, you have a good seat in most of the place.

By Panama Heavenly Spices |

I went to a concert. I truly enjoyed the paintings, chandelier, admired the decorations. Staff was friendly and helpful in giving directions to your seating area. An evening well spent.

By Steve B |

Having been born and raised in Chicago land area, I left the Rialto Square Theatre last night wondering, why have I not been here sooner? This theatre is so special, you have to experience it at least once, you will be amazed! The architecture is breath taking, the staff were extremely friendly, informative, and helpful. The prices are very reasonable, there is easy in and out access with lots of parking all around. A must experience !

By John I |

Stopped by after Labor Day. Tours only on Tuesday. We got lucky!!. The work that has been accomplished by the citizens of Joliet is amazing. Complete renovation of an American treasure.. Every detail of the building is as good as new. Chandeliers are totally impressive. The voluteers have kept everything in pristine condition. Floors are immaculate! Glass has no fingerprints! Carpets are perfect. This place is too good to be true. The tour of the make-up area, the green room and the "stars" dressing room were impressive. I am so thankful to witness this fantastic undertaking.

By Bernardo F |

What a beautiful classic theater. Search history here. It's really beautiful. The building is very well kept.

By Susan C |

When going to the movies was an event - this building captures that feeling and they have interesting shows

By Jennifer H |

I have been to several concerts at the Rialto. The best experience is when there is a small band or performer. It is a beautiful theater and is easy to get to. Unfortunately, the Rialto has a tendency to book acts that are too loud for this Venue. a couple of years ago I saw Kansas there and, if though my husband and I sat in the second to last row, it was way too loud. I have been to Summerfest, First Midwest Ampitheater and the Venue at Horseshoe Casino and I have never been injured by the volume. At the Rialto the Kansas performance left me with ringing in my ears for over a week.

By AlanD9635 |

We visited the Rialto Square to see "Celtic Woman" and enjoyed the theater as much as the show.
As others have said, the theater was built right before the depression and is breathtaking, no other words describe it. I was impressed not only with the theater's ornate design but the fact that it has been beautifully restored and has the same grandeur it must have had in the 1920's, i.e every bulb in the huge "Rialto" sign and marquee was sparking just as it must have looked in the twenties. It was well worth the drive from northwest suburban Chicago to watch a show in this magnificent palace.
The only slightly negative observation I'd point out is the theater has the original 1920's seats. Although they're in perfect condition, they ARE smaller than what we expect today, due to the fact that almost 100 years later we've all unfortunately gotten bigger. It's just an interesting fact I thought I'd point out here.

By IllinoisSnowbird |

It' a beautiful theater with first class entertainment.

By Marilyn D |

The Rialto Theatre is a wonderful place! We had a tour of the Theatre. the Lobby is very impressive a must see, the Theatre has an organ and we were able to get a concert it was the songs of the times! We went on the stage and also had a tour of the Green room where all the performers signed the walls, Soony Bono, Carol Brunnette, Harvy Korman etc.......... The tour was given by a volunteer and was very knowledgeable.

By Jeanne M |

The opulant deco speaks of a long ago elegance. It is a must see if you enjoy old architecture. If going for a show, there doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. We enjoyed the old pipe organ, too. The volunteer staff are very helpful and seem to love to be there.

By Beanctr999 |

I have been here many times. I have seen the ballet, comedians, musicians, plays....
The architecture of the building is incredible and worth going to the theatre alone. Like others have said, there is not a bad seat in the house.

By CherylS2216 |

I've been going to this theatre since I was a little girl. My grandmother saw "Gone With The Wind" here too. This was an old vaudeville theatre during the 1920's and is decorated to mimic "Versailles."

By martinlucy |

This theatre is a treat to see a show in a lovely historical building in downtown Joliet. Really worth a visit!

By Sarahawendel |

Beautiful theater for any event. We were there for a dance recital. All the seats have a great view of the stage, no obstructed views. I just wish the dressing rooms and backstage area was nicer.

By LifeisgoodChicago |

Its hard to describe how beautiful the Rialto is to the average person. One of the most beautiful theaters in the country. If you ever have an opportunity to attend anything there, do!

By Cass C |

The Rialto in Joliet is a well preserved place of beauty. If you should have the chance to visit for a show or a wedding or maybe a holiday fest you should most definitely do so

By Tincanpuller |

The Rialto Square Theatre is a place you really should spend some time enjoying. It's a great reminder of the way things used to be

By Craig L |

The Rialto Square Theatre in downtown Joliet, IL is a gem. This beautiful theatre began life as a movie palace with a gorgeous pipe organ and hosted Vaudeville stage acts. Today the Rialto is big enough to attract big names and host private events year round. But it is small enough that every seat is close to the stage. Tickets are often half the price of Chicago theaters and you sit closer.

This classic theater along Historic Route 66 has a mirrored lobby designed like Versailles. The main floor, balcony and ceiling create great acoustics giving great sound quality. And the Duchess Chandelier is the largest in North America. (See photos.) Call ahead to see about a guided tour. The Rialto is just a block away from Harrah’s Casino with good rooms and food for cheap.

See rialtosquare.com for schedules of events and concerts.

By Roy K |

They don't build them like this anymore! A beautiful 100 year old theater with ornate decorations. A good concert or play venue, with balcony seating. I believe you can also rent it for business or wedding receptions. Mirrored entrance evokes feelings of the Palace of Versailles in France. Plenty of nearby parking and Metra rail station is also walkable.

By Lor018 |

It is a beautiful historical place. Not a bad seat in the place for concert, play etc. Highly recommend everyone to see this historical landmark.

By Jsin55 |

A beautiful building inside and out. We were able to take pictures from the outside from top to bottom. The details on the building were beautiful. The lobby was like stepping into the past.

By tyrolgirl2015 |

The Rialto Theater offers many interesting and entertaining programs . We have enjoyed seeing many programs over the years. Recently discovered that they no longer have will call phone orders for tickets unless it involves a large group. If you are unable to get to the Box Office during the week one is left with Ticketmaster. On a $35 ticket the handling fee from Ticketmaster is $15 which seems a bit ridiculous. Please consider bringing back the will call phone tickets since you already have someone there that does group tickets and sells tickets at the Box Office .

By cruisin*tigger |

Had tickets to see Jim Gaffigan and this was our first visit to this theater. Very nice. Love the old vintage feel inside. Well maintained.. We ate a nearby restaurant so were able to park there, so don't know about any other theater parking.

When you leave the theater, its okay because there are large crowds; however, don't know if I would want to be around there when it wasn't as crowded. Blue flashing police cameras mounted on various light poles don't install confidence of a safe neighborhood.

By Bernardo F |

What a beautiful theater. It's definitely a nice treat when in downtown Joliet. The sound system was nice, the place comfortable and very nicely well kept.

By KampOC |

We saw American Idiot in April. Theater is beautiful and surprisingly comfortable seats. We were in left section on bottom level but view was great even from the left. Appeared at least on bottom level there were no bad seats.

By Lisa S |

We have been to the Rialto a few times and it is a really beautiful place. Gorgeous inside, we went last night to see Engelbert Humperdinck who did not disappoint. My first time seeing him,my only complaint like the last time were the acoustics a few times I had to strain to hear because it would be a great sound and then it would fade. we were 10 rows from the stage so with great seats or not the sound should not have been a problem, other than that. 81 years young Mr. Humperdinck you were awesome.

By Cathrine138 |

I see a lot of shows at this theater and it is beautiful inside. There are many shows and live entertainment things you can see. You can visit the website to see more.

By Rdhatfield |

The outside of this place good but the inside is beautiful. Kinda takes your breath was the first time you walk in.

By Norma S |

as a Joliet native, I have been to the Rialto for weddings, fundraisers and numerous shows. The theater is absolutely beautiful, and worth a visit under any circumstance. The size of the theater is smaller than those in Chicago, which gives a closer experience when watching shows there. Highly recommend.

By RealityConfuses |

Went to see the "Hit Men". The show was incredible! Playing in a nostalgic surrounding was impressive.

By REDPetersburgIL |

What a beautiful theatre so well preserved and felt just like Scarlet desending down the staircase. A Gem!!!

By DawnZHebron |

The building was beautiful and the show was great. We seen Bill Cosby.

By jeepurz23 |

A truly beautiful theatre that is intimate and a great place to see any type of show from concerts to stand up comedians and everything in between.

By GrantHay |

Walked in off the street and was blown away by the amazingly detailed architecture. Beautifully maintained. Worth a visit just to experience.

By 355annr |

Catch a show or enjoy a really festive holiday event at the Rialto- this is not like most theatres, Truly opulent and I feel like Cinderella when i go there. All seats are good seats.

By MarkECubFan |

Beautiful venue with one of the friendliest staffs in the Midwest. A real pleasure to see such a well restored movie palace.

By Lor018 |

Went to a couple of concerts in Feb. The Rialto remains a great place to attend a concert or probably anything. Beautiful setting, the performers express their high regards to the venue every time. It is good to see the recent good shows being scheduled here lately. We had a long drought there for awhile. Keep the good shows coming and people will attend. Everybody working there is friendly and helpful. Never a bad experience here.

By Claire R |

Absolutely beautiful restored building and all worth saving. Seating was ample and comfortable. The bars were plentiful and easy to get drinks. Great atrium area for before event cocktails.

By Fred M |

This Theater is defiantly the Jewel of Joliet. The Theater is Beautifully restored. As the other posters have said there is not a bad seat in the house, the acoustics are great.
I would Highly recommend this Venue.

By Massimoo |

Have been here a half a dozen times over the past few years for concerts, plays, comedy, etc. . Beautiful place with comfortable seats and good sight lines/great acoustics. Easy free parking, bathrooms and pre-show/intermission food and drink all excellent. Their selection of shows could be a bit larger but I would recommend getting on their mailing list and you can pick from their varied offerings. The immediate local neighborhood revitalized and relatively safe but not too many pre-theater dining options...... more of a "destination theater."

By voicegal |

One of the most beautiful theatre. A must see in person. I try to find something to see there just so I can look around and the architecture.

By lee f |

If you like the lavish theaters of an era gone by you will love this restored theater. The chandilers, inlaid gold. the paintings, and the grand old beauty of this place is beatiful. They offer tours or you can attend one of the many shows they have all year.

By 857BradM |

Wow is all you can say when you goto the Rialto. Everyone is so friendly and the place is just beautiful. I have seen several movies here as well as several bands and I have never left disappointed.

By Dan R |

Great show! Intimate setting, From the cheap seats was a dynamite view! Next show I’m going to the same balcony seats! Friendly volunteers working, always helpful.

By Mmmidwesterner |

My camera club had a wonderful opportunity to photograph this theater. We paid a small fee and had a private afternoon to run around and photograph the mirrors, crystal chandeliers and stairs. Normally, I don't think you can bring your tripods but since it was a private event, we were able to use them, and took wonderful photos.

If you ever have chance to tour this building, jump on it!

By termexico |

We've been here a few times. It's a beautiful place, I'm so glad they have restored it and kept alive. Not too many places around like this. All seats have good viewing an it has quite comfortable seating.

By Susancoari |

An amazing place to see a concert or a show Great acoustics and not a bad seat in the house. Easy to get to and parking available close. I definitely would recommend it to anyone.

By ellieg486 |

We have enjoyed attending shows at the Rialto. It is a lovely building and if you go for the first time be sure to enjoy the architecture. Looking forward to going again.

By jvmurph |

This theatre was built in 1926 and has been refurbished but kept its original look. It is full of sparkling mirrors & marble and has a beautiful chandelier called "The Duchess". The theatre seats 1,900 with main floor seats and balcony seats. There are a number of different shows that reaches out from small children to the oldest of baby boomers. Just go onto Rialto.com to check the upcoming schedules.

By George G |

Beautiful theater, great acoustics sat in the balcony area and had a great view!! And can also bring your drinks to your seats!!

By Darryl M |

Rather than review one particular Night, let me say I have experienced the Rialto back when they showed Movies what a wonderful experience not to mention the timeless elegance of a magnificent Building the Rialto is such a treat. I have seen Blues Bands,Rock and Roll, BB King Ko Ko Taylor Buddy Guy, Led Zeppelin tribute band and comedians. Its always been a wonderful experience. DLM

By JJKFETP |

This is one of the most beautiful theaters you can find in the world. Very little is modernized, perhaps just the bathrooms, so you are seeing old, elegant architecture. The grandeur and beauty is stunning. I had a great tour with Carmon and got to see anything I wanted and ask anything. At just $5, the experience is much better than many more expensive museums (of any sort).

Support Joliet. Support this theater. Learn, gaze, take photos!

By Sandy N |

This theater is like no other. It is more than beautiful. You have to sit in the audience and just look around and take in the beauty and craftmanship of this old theater. Not a bad seat in the house.

By Dave K |

Beautiful as always. The gem of Joliet. The architecture is beautiful in an ornate way that just works. The mirrors extend the beautiful gold ceilings and the rest.

By K.b. E |

So many great have entertained at this beautiful and architectural Theatre. It was wonderful to see this amazing place as an adult. Seeing as the last time was as a child. Yet the magic awe and wonder were still so prevalent as an adult. I couldn't keep my eyes from roaming from the wonderful stage and act to the amazing ceilings, seats, and architecture or this amazing place. This is still to this day one of my favorite theatres I can't wait to bring my children soon. Thanks Rialto square Theatre.

By Lisa S |

We came to this theatre for a dance Competition. The theatre itself is pretty, but wasn't very clean. Also, when it came to dressing rooms, the space was few & far between. They set up dressing rooms in another building, which made thing difficult.

By writergirlHouston |

Husband's high school reunion took a tour of this, and WOW -- I had no idea there was this kind of treasure in Joliet, Ill. I've been to Europe (once) and seen gorgeous chapels and palaces but this theater ranks as high in its beauty. Amazing craftsmanship and artistry and about an hour from downtown Chicago. It's a wonderful venue for concerts, comedians and Broadway shows.

By Mariianne |

The Rialto is a beautiful theater that was refurbished several years ago. This is a wonderful venue for weddings. It also is a good place for concerts

By Robin K |

I took my grandson to see The Wizard of Oz on the big screen at the Rialto. It was a wonderful experience for both of us, and I am so thrilled I was able to share it with him. The Rialto is a wonderful theater for movies, musicals, plays, really anything, including rock concerts.

By Michelle L |

I love the beautiful architecture of this theatre. It is a wonderful setting to view a show! I have seen many artists here and every time is enjoyable. I recently graduated college and it was held here. It was too beautiful for words! A little advice..if you can use the bathroom during the show..there are only two and they get crowded during intermissions.

By Bernardo F |

It's always a nice stop, such a beautiful old historic theater. And now they have tours on Tuesdays. It's such an architectural treat.

By Claude O |

Located in Joliet's downtown, next to the casino, the public library, and the court house. The Rialto theatre is a gem, a staple of Joliet's architecture, culture, and entertainement. It was built at the turn of the 19th century. The building is well maintained, restored to it's old glory, but the city struggles to keep it afloat financianlly. There are plenty of parking options around. The entrance opens into a foyer well lit with a chandelier and stairs on both sides leading to the balcony and the VIP suites. The seats are comfortable and there is enough legroom. The only drawback was the restroom with limited amount of urinals.

By drlmtz1985 |

I took my 7 year old, she had never seen the movie and this was an Excellent opportunity to see a classic movie at a VERY CLASSIC LOCATION like the Very Beautiful Rialto Theatre. It is a wonderful facility that has year long events to attend. Music concerts, Plays, wedding events and much more!

By roadtrippinchick |

This is one of the most beautiful theaters in the state. Inspiried by various European sites, this theater is a stunner...gorgeous chandaliers, impressive architecture, beautifully restored. Go for a show or book your event here. It is a fantastic venue for a wedding. The building is so beautiful, that it's well worth going just to take a tour.

By Val N |

Love this place, it has such history and just a beautiful venue. We saw Craig Ferguson and he was hysterical. The sound was a bit off for the opening act, but it got better. There isn't a bad seat in the house.

By Ruth K |

Absolutely gorgeous theatre. Hard to describe. It's old........originally had vaudeville acts there. Has been refurbished but not remodeled. Everyone visiting Joliet must stop at the Rialto. Go online to see upcoming events and make your plans to attend. You will not be disappointed.

By James C |

Great show, but concessions should be limited to lobby and not be allowed inside the beautiful theater, people make too much of a mess throwing trash on the floor under their seats

By foodlover560 |

We attending the Josh Turner concert at the Rialto recently. While masks were required upon entry only about 10 percent of the people in the actual theater were wearing masks with no enforcement of masks performed. While the website states otherwise regarding mask wearing, we felt extremely uncomfortable during the show given the entire theater was full without social distancing between seats. We got dirty looks for wearing our masks at the performance. In the end we decided to leave because it was impossible to enjoy a show when you're concerned that you may end up in the hospital because of it.

By Salon David Anthony |

You definitely cannot go wrong when you attend an event at this establishment. Take in all the elligant art work and decor. Stunning and spectacular vibes. Great place.

By dalady |

This building is absolutely beautiful. It was a movie theater in the 1960's when I was in High School. I'm so glad they restored it to it's original beauty and are using it for live performances.

By Tina F |

My daughter's dance teacher dreamed of having her recital at the Rialto and her dream came true in a big way! It was spectacular to see the local children performing on the grand stage!

By Theshad63 |

Beautiful theater - built in 20's, seats are very narrow and will not comfortably fit anyone who is not smallish in shape

By Murph211 |

What can you say about a beautiful, fully-restored theatre that is in a class by itself among theaters in major metropolitan areas? Salvaged from the threat of the wrecking ball in the 1970's, the majesty and charm of the Rialto lives on through the generations. The acts vary from big names to mid-level, but the beauty of the Rialto is that their schedule offers often mirrors those in Chicago without the $45 parking fee and the gas/mileage that comes with it. Big city entertainment close to home.

By MidwestAlpinist |

The Rialto Theatre is an incredibly beautiful and historic venue. The property itself gets 5-stars. The seats are comfortable. The staff is friendly. Prices for drinks are reasonable, and you can enjoy your beverage in your seat. They have handicap seating and even an elevator for the balcony seats.

The only downside to my experience was the sound quality, which was terrible for the rock concert that we attended. I don't know if that is a result of the band having a poor sound system, poor acoustics in the building, or both. Note this is probably not an issue if you're attending a play or classical musical performance like it is for a rock concert where they have 40-foot high speakers blasting loud music.

By Kevin M |

Wow what a beautiful place, the architecture and style of this old theater are awesome. Very ornate ceiling and great for concerts. I was there for the 3 Doors Down Acoustic concert and the sound was awesome!!

By ClermontRealtor |

Had a private event there for university of St. Francis . Gorgeous building and old school marquee outside.

By cooley25 |

We have attended many concerts here. This theater never fails to inspire us. It is elegant with a curved winding staircase and chandalier. No bad seats anywhere. Last concert attended was Perpetuum Jazille!

By Shannon C |

Love visiting the Rialto. It's such a beautiful and historical place to visit. Even seeing the lady in white was quite an experience!

By BettyBoop6666 |

Magnificent! Its a truly the gem of joliet, a must see. Shows are intimate, there just is not a bad seat in the house.

By Ramona D |

This historic and beautiful theater was in danger of being torn down in the early 70's. Thank goodness for a lady named Dorothy, who spearheaded fundraising efforts to renovate the theater and save it. You enter the front doors and walk down a mirrored hall, was designed to mimic Versailles. You get to the rotunda and see an incredible chandelier called the "Duchess". There are two curving staircases on either side going to the next level. They have recently installed an elevator for handicapped access to the second floor. This theater was built in 1926 by the Rubens brothers. They also designed the Chicago Theater which is similar in appearance. During shows, the theater is staffed by volunteers (I used to be one). They offer $5 tours during the week which includes an mini organ concert on the Barton Grande which majestically rises up from the orchestra pit area. We had out of guests who recently took the tour and they said it was marvelous. The theater has roughly 1900 seats and any of them would be good for seeing one of the shows. Before Christmas, the Rialto hosts a Festival of Trees which has locally decorated trees for silent auction and raffles. This festival shows off the grandeur of this wonderful gem. If you are ever in Joliet, try to stop here. You won't regret it!!

By JackofPBFL |

We had the opportunity to visit this beautifully restored movie palace. It is absolutely amazing. The lobby is huge and patterned after the hall of mirrors in Versailles. The auditorium is in perfectly restored condition and the detail is something to behold. The crown jewel of the theater is its original but expanded Barton Theater Pipe Organ. It is a fantastic instrument kept in top form. Incredible venue!

By Phyllis V |

What great line up of talent that comes into Joliet! Awesome shows without driving into Chicago. Not a bad seat in the place, beautiful decor, you feel the history all around you! If you have not been. Put it on your to do list! A must see!

By catstheword |

This theatre group has really thought things through! They had cookies, coffee, water and other snacks for sale. There was a cash bar. Seats were easily found. I don't think there is a bad seat in the place.
Parking was wonderful. Handicapped parking in lot across street with a policeman there to help get across the street to the theater! Regular parking was also very close!
Several restaurants open and offering great food to the theater goers!

By Sandseeker_60 |

The renovation was amazing. Took a lot of effort and love to bring that theater back around. They always have a good variety of entertainment. The seating is comfortable. We always sit in the balcony to really appreciate the whole experience. I'm signed up for e-mail notices and am kept informed of upcoming acts. Small by theater standards of today but makes up in character.

By Michael A |

Wow! What a great venue. The location, the inexpensive parking that is convenient, the atmosphere, and the stage, all made for a great night.
I saw America here last night and I would not hesistate to go back!
I was disappointed with America, but I think this place would suit any artist.
I would recommend getting balcony seats because the sound system is loud upfront.
We sat in row 11.

By voicegal |

I try to go and see either plays or comedy acts here as much as possible. The inside is so beautiful. It is local so I try to patronize it and much as I can. Very nice place to see productions

By Susan S |

The Rialto is a beautiful theatre that really is quite grand on the inside. It has been beautifully taken care of and is a great place to see a play or a concert. Not to big just big enough.

By Secretariat1973 |

Joliet Jake, Joliet Correctional Center, The Blues Brothers - all have at least one thing in common: the unforgettable John Belushi. On March 5, 1982, the world of comedy senselessly lost John Belushi to drug intoxication at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, CA. He left behind his lovely wife, Judy Belushi, who has been successful in keeping his memory alive through wonderful projects including books and 'best of' Saturday Night Live videos to mention a few.

On March 5, 2012, 30 years from the date of his untimely death, Judy arranged for a wonderful tribute to John at the beautiful Rialto Square Theatre. She magically returned the music of the Blues Brothers to Joliet, Illinois through The Official Blues Brothers Revue and with a litle help from John's friends and former bandmates: Blue Lou Marino, Matt Guitar Murphy, Paul Shaffer and Tom Bones Malone.

The Rialto opened on May 24, 1926, an ornate $2M project designed by the Chicago firm of Rapp & Rapp Architects and built by the construction firm of Kaiser-Ducett. Its magnificent European architecture is the signature work of the late Eugene Romeo, a Sicilian immigrant who settled in Park Ridge, Illinois. A sampling of buildings in the Chicago area which bear his work include the Board of Trade, Chicago Daily News Building, Soldier Field, Merchandise Mart, Blackstone Theatre, Wrigley Building and the Joliet Township High School Auditorium.

The former "vaudeville movie palace" changed its costume to a "performing arts center" on November 27,1981. Actual restoration began in April of 1980. Conrad Schmitt Studios of New Berlin, Wisconsin, restored and renovated the theatre beyond its original magnificence.

A campaign to "Save the Rialto" for future generations as a performing arts center was initiated by Dorothy Mavrich, president of the Cultural Arts Council of the Joliet Area, formerly known as the Rialto Square Arts Association.

"Save the Rialto" involved the entire community. With the assistance of local businessman, Christo Dragatsis, support was sought from city, state and federal officials. Former State Representative, LeRoy Van Duyne, was instrumental in obtaining the necessary funds for purchase of the properties.

The Will County Metropolitan Exposition and Auditorium Authority, a unit of local government, was created in 1978 to own and operate the Rialto Square Theatre complex and surrounding properties. The Rialto Square Theatre is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Rialto Square Theatre Foundation is a non-for-profit 501 (c) 3 organization and accepts donations to support the Rialto.

Thank you, Judy, for bringing the Blues Brothers back to Joliet for one special night at the magical Rialto Square Theatre.

We nabbed last minute tickets to Straight No Chaser and headed downtown Joliet. This hotel was BEAUTIFUL! We arrived before the auditorium doors opened but the attendants were so friendly and told us historical nuggets about the place. It's a must see if you're ever in Joliet and have a bit of downtime. Such a lovely piece of history!

Every performance we have been to at the Rialto has been a most pleasant experience - from the easy access ticket office, the most pleasant ushers, right down to the free assessable parking, this place is tops in my book!! You will not be disappointed.

As a part of our Route 66 tour, our tour group of about 35 visited the Rialto Theater on Sept. 8th of this year. What a gorgeous theater! We enjoyed a guided tour of this gem which was originally a vaudeville movie palace. Beautiful chandeliers and other details fill this beautiful theater. We were provided with a delicious lunch after being entertained with an organ concert. Be sure to visit this 90 year old theater which opened on May 24,1926.

The interior of this building is worth the visit. It's great to see American architectural heritage from the early 20th century being restored and respected.

I saw lisa Lamanelli here like 3 years ago and stayed at Harrah's. It was fun, but I am 6'3. Be careful.

We saw Alton Brown there. Every seat was good and the atmosphere was great. The architecture was beautiful. I just wish we knew more about the area before we went for dining options.

We went here for a concert. This place is absolutely beautiful. It is a well kept older building and definitely worth a visit for a show/play/concert or any other event

See first rated plays!! Very well kept theatre. Great seats wherever you sit. Even Balcony is great. We sat in first row of balcony and loved it. So beautiful!!

I have been going to the Rialto my whole life, I remember seeing King Kong with Jessica Lange there with my mom as a young child. In high school I was working at Byron's and we had to cater a dinner for The Bozo Show there, Cookie and Wizzo had full face makeup on, sitting in their white undershirts grouchy as all get out. I was crushed by how mean Cookie was, 30 years later I still remember that day, lol! My children have performed there so I had the pleasure of being backstage and in the green room hearing stories about all the stars that have performed there over the years. If you have a chance to visit the Rialto, please do because it is beautiful inside.

Even though I haven’t been there in a while, I stilll highly. recommend it. Alll the shows I’ve arreended were most enjoyable. The seating is. great! The architecture is amazing

We came here to see Dave Mason's Traffic Jam show. The theatre is beautifully ornate, and well kept up. The ushers, hat check man, etc. (all volunteers, I'll bet) were helpful and cordial.

We had seats in row M on the main floor. The sound was as good as I've experienced anywhere. Wonderful venue!

This is one of the most beautiful theaters you will ever see! They offer tours, so you can appreciate the architecture and beauty even if not there for a concert or theater presentation. Also available for weddings and private events.

The Rialto is an incredible venue for a true old world experience. The seating is comfortable and not crowded. A favourite to visit again and again.

This is a wonderful theater to see anything at. I have seen concerts, comedy shows, plays and musicals. The theater is beautiful! Great sound! And there isn't a bad seat in the house! Plus they do a 50/50 raffle at every event. The other half goes to the theater.

Saw a concert her last visit. ..the walls...ceilings. ..the whole building is incredibly beautiful...... for concerts the sound is great in here no matter where you are seated.

I perform with my orchestra, the Joliet Symphony Orchestra every year for the organ extravaganza. The theatre is absolutely gorgeous and the Staff are very professional.

I have been to several of these old theaters, all very pretty. This is one of the largest I've been in. Nearly twice the size of others. I didn't get a good look at the seats with the lights on but in a dimly lit theater, this ranks up there as one the nicer ones. Sound quality was spot on and accessibility was easy both in and out. If you are considering a show here, I would strongly encourage it.

Very beautiful and a lot of history behind it must see. The architecture is beautiful. Down from there is the joliet library which is another land mark that visitors would like to see while in joliet.

Amazing and stunning is how I would describe the Rialto! It's simply beautiful! The grandeur and splendor harken unto days gone by but the Rialto maintains its elegance throughout time! We drove into town to see "The Wiggles" and I was taken away by the spectacle that is The Rialto! Stunning! The staff were friendly and eager to help. There truly wasn't a bad seat in the house either!! I've been to a few theaters but this one tops my list and makes it hard to go watch performances anywhere else! Thank you Rialto for taking my breath away!

There is absolutely no way to adequately describe The Rialto. Pictures do not do it justice. Built in 1926, it was lovingly restored in the 80's and with the help of incredibly dedicated volunteers, it is still the most beautiful building I have ever seen. I love old theaters and have toured many. The Rialto tops them all. Take the tour. There really is not any other way to understand how precious the building and its history are to Joliet. When Liberace came to perform, he went out onto the Rotunda balcony, opened his arms wide and proclaimed, "Finally, a Theater to match my wardrobe!". You will only see architecture and detail this fine in the old buildings of Italy and France. This is a the closest you can get without leaving the US. There is not an obstructed view in the house. If you have never been, make a point to add this to your list of special places to visit, whether it be for a tour or to enjoy a show.

We enjoy every thing about going to this place, the beauty, not a bad seat in the house, sound excellent, stage and lighting fantastic

Originally opened in 1926, this theater is one of the most beautifully ornate theaters I've ever been to.... and to think it was nearly torn down in the 70's.
Area residents, businesses and local politicians luckily would have none of that and funds were obtained to restore it to it's former glory in the early
80's.
Now the Rialto is host to top entertainers and events throughout the year.
I have been going to the Rialto since I was a child and am very glad to say I can still go there today thanks to the people who saw the enormous cultural value and beauty of the Rialto Theater and fought to save it.

Excellent acoustics, not a bad seat in the house. We have been there several times for concerts, never disappointed.Nicely resored lobby.

Theater, opera, dance, professional children 's performances, solo performances, movies, and weddings are some of the things you can experience at this grand old theater. Beautiful chandeliers, mirrors, and draperies remind one of European opulence. Well worth the money with a variety of prices.

I have seen many events.the last was A Capella group Home Free. There is not a bad seat in the theater.

A visit to the Rialto Square was part of the American Theatre Organ Society convention this year. It has been amazingly and lovingly restored. The lobby is meant to look like the palace at Versailles and the auditorium is beautiful. The organ is brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed the concert.

This is a beautiful old theater, where I spent many Saturdays as a kid for 50 cents. Now it houses great live entertainment, including concerts, plays and children's shows. The last show we saw there was Brian Setzer's Christmas Show, which was amazing. If you're in the area, it really is a great place to see a show. Our next event we will be attending is Craig Ferguson on March 20.

Wonderfully restored REALLY old school theater features fabulous gold leafed sculpture and decor, grand staircases, a huge organ that sinks into the stage, the coolest antique chandelier you will ever see, and great entertainment for the most part. Unfortunately, they serve THE WORST alcoholic beverages anywhere- stale wine, bad whiskey. UGH. Forget the $30 VIP drink/h'orderves lounge thing- I wouldn't drink there for free. I am not kidding. You have to go "pre-lit". Even still, a fabulous theater you should patronize.

By christinebowers |

Very beautiful inside. Enough seating for venues and weddings. Gorgeous staircases. The only thing is no parking excerpt public and it's expensive.

By lovesaroadtrip |

This truly is the 'jewel of Joliet'. The theatre is absolutely gorgeous inside. They don't make them like this anymore. This is a great venue, up close and intimate with the performers. The tickets can get a little pricey do to the small size, but worth every penny. It's worth going just to see the theatre and the Barton grand organ.
The only thing I can complain about is the lack of manners by the audience, whom never seem capable of shutting up during performances,

By JV12013 |

I love going to the Rialto for shows in Joliet, but the parking is terrible. I have seen several shows there and enjoy the restaurants that are in the area.

This theater is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. We love to see shows here and often arrive early just to look around and admire the architecture! Tickets are reasonably priced especially for a professional and beautiful theater. Buy tickets today!

Without a doubt this is one of the nicest theatres I have ever attended. This is very easy to recommend. Beautiful and comfortable. Great setting!
