Great park close to everything. Clean renovation. Have numerous events going on all year around from concerts to food festivals

I used to love taking my kids to the wooden playground, but it's still nice to see the views. I enjoy the fiestas and boat parades. We like the craft shows & baby pageants that used to happen there.

By Amanda Renee |

They did a great job re-doing this park! It's no longer the scary dirty wood park! I love the rubber flooring in the kids area. My son loves the splash pad! Great job NPR!

Sims Park has been updated over the past few years and has become an oasis in the middle of the small city.

By JJWaterside |

What's not to love? They have redone the playground, added a splash park, the bathrooms were clean and this is a great spot on the water for a family picnic, fishing, playing and relaxing!

What a wonderful place to walk along the river in New Port Richey. Dog friendly. Lovely live oaks, boat launch, and much more. Check it out!

By firetamer57 |

Sims park has really become a place for families to let their young ones burn fuel or for people like me walk around the park that takes you around ORANGE lake it's perfect for a stroll in the evening

By Piranha44 |

I'm sure when my kids were younger they would have lost their minds at seeing the amazing play space this park offers. As for me, I greatly enjoyed the walks and being able to go down to the water and see manatees and beautiful birds. Easy access and ample parking. I now see why this park rates so high.

By brendabO7697FZ |

My granddaughters love playing on the playground and splash area. I also love to walk the area. Love seeing families out together in such a pretty place

By Jeff L |

I have been to Sims park many times over the years as I use to live nearby on the river. The upgrades make the park even nicer. My kids enjoyed the playground and I have been part of many community events and concerts at Sims park. One of the best things about downtown New Port Richey.

By 286gregorys |

What`s not to like about this park. It has everything. From a boat launch up the river to toilets and playgrounds for the kids. It has been recently renovated and has something for every one -.from children to the adults .Plus it is situated in a beautiful natural setting in the heart of New Port Richey.

By Fwdmotion131 |

We host a fishing tournament every year at Sims Park as well as attend lots of events there and it is always well kept and a great place to visit.

We visit Sims many time during the year to feed the squirrels, ducks. ibis and turtles, especially when young children are visiting. One of the first visits was with a 3 year old who saw 100 ibis running at her and begin screaming "I'm Ellen, I'm not food, I'm Ellen I'm not food." She is now 6 and especially loves the squirrels that will take the peanut from your fingers, run up the tree, eat it while you watch and return for another one. Great place for a Sunday stroll. In the winter they display large greeting cards with festive messages. The Cotee river flows on the edge and makes for a beautiful walk. There is a playground for the children and many festivals use the grounds during the year for even more fun and games. Nice perk for a small town.

I made a wrong turn in 2018 into this beautiful park sims must be a lot of remodeling going on the riverwalk seems to be the place to walk your dog.I've been here in 1993 on the stroll amazing scenery atmosphere full of nature Manatees, and wild life. The events here I can hear all the way from hwy 19.The Museum with the exercise machine is a newer feature orange lake is the crowds favorite.Does anyone have the Bush Speech in Sims park video tapes? I heard it was almost as good as the KIng's speech.I didn't see anyone smoking pot so it must be a safe area. Thanks for the advice about the fishing license because I was about to go fishing without one. This Park looks like it's for families, and a place in the evening to see the lunar eclipse.-Anthony

By jmerkfl |

Very pretty, beautifully updated park in downtown area, directly on the river. Super events put on during the weekend, from concerts to benefits to fairs. Very relaxing place to take in the wonders of a really pretty area.

By Jennifer M |

It doesn't look like much from far away but when you get in the park you can see how well maintained it is. There is something for everyone here with the plants and wildlife, seeing the fish and turtles in the water, the birds looking for food, the veteran memorials and the playground for kids. It's a nice casual walk that took us far longer than expected because of everything there is to see along the way.

By Karen O |

Something for everyone, all ages, at the new park. Nestled among the large trees and on the Cotee River it is a most beautiful addition to the city.

By Toni F |

Love walking my dog in this park in cool of the early morning hours. Park is extremely dog friendly. The walkways by the River are beautiful and Orange pond has a lovely fountain. More towns should follow New Port Richey's lead and have parks like this one.

I just wish it was a little bigger

By Sanford D |

Sims Park is a nice park for a walk, lunch, or reading a book. If you have children they have a nice splash pad that everyone seemed to enjoy. They do have a stage and I understand many festivals during the year. We will come back. It was nice.

By Troy123456123 |

Since the completion its a very pleasant place to walk and see lots of birds. Weekends almost always something going on.

By Bradley K |

Free boat launching area to travel down the river to the Gulf. Out door theater and plenty of Picnic area with free parking. Multitude of restaurants within easy walking distance. There is limited shopping and playground for children

By Ted P |

From great concerts in the park to getting prom photos. Always a great walk to remember well maintained. Sorry to see the castle get removed

By Debra M W |

Currently under construction. Great place for a family outing. Bring your pick nick basket and enjoy the serenity around you. Kids have a great time on one of the many playgrounds. Located in the heart of downtown New Port Richey, take advantage of the beautiful walkways including the Pithlacoochee River.

By Novakvicki |

New port richey received a grant and did a lot of improvements,. New play ground equipment and cleaned up the area. Downtown looks great

By Lisa M |

My wife and I drive down from Bayonet Point to walk around Sims park in the evening. It is so peaceful and pleasant by the river, and a lot of walking paths.
This is our first winter down here from Canada and we discovered the park through the Chasco Festiva, which was a wonderful event. We will be back next year for those 9 days of fun, food and music (and great Native American dancing and performances).

By Sam |

So much work has been completed on this park in the past year or so. It has become a beautiful tranquil spot for the whole family. Walking, play area, various concerts and festivals during the year keep it a vibrant community park..

By janeandfamily |

It's a nice park with a jungle wooded gym area for the little kids to play on. We would love going there and walking right up to the sea wall and watching the fish swim and to see if we can find turtles swimming too.. It's very clean and a wonderful place to just relax and enjoy the breeze from the Gulf of Mexico.

By Eric P |

the park has something for everybody, play ground for the kids with new water area , views for the river watch boats go by, and tables to have a relaxing lunch or watch the sun set

By Veggout |

Very large park on the river with a small lake. A popular venue for special events or a family outing. Shady with access to the river.

By John L |

I always bring some old bread to feed the ducks around the pond. The kids absolutely love the splash pad and playground. I do kinda miss the old wooden playground though that I grew up playing on.

By Lesle34652 |

The park is nice with lovely views of the river, but playground is currently under construction (Dec 2015). Nice place to go and sit and read a book.

By PAtricia Z |

A lovely place for a stroll. Always fu when there’s a festival going on or concerts. Christmas decorations and lighting is wonderful.

By FalconClan |

Before the city renovated this park it was a very scary place to visit. Thanks to the city investing in it -- it's wonderful! Great playground and water area for kiddos -- and the dogs even have water available at the bottom of the water fountains! Great place to visit -- and not to mention it's a Pokemon Go! hotspot!

By Bill Astroturf D |

The park is very nice, well done ,BUT there is no place to park! We over saw the
chasco Fiesta Market place and were invaded by a rude public who didn't honor our territory and Vendor Parking! The drove over our border ropes, pulled out or stakes etc! We also let in many Handicap people to park because there was nowhere for them to park! It's this way each year and getting worse! The city needs to FIX that!

By joellwitt |

I love when I have to time to escape from work and everyday busy living and come walk around Orange Lake and sit on the bench and take in all the beauty. From watching the ducks swim to hearing the birds chirp and wind blowing in trees with sunshine on my face. This place always brings me peace. My teenagers love to still play on the playground. Great alone time and great family time!

By J_Brown2028 |

I grew up playing on the original Sims park play structure and I was glad for the chance to have my two kids play on the same structure. At first I was sad that they tore down the old playground; I was sad to see it go. However, I am VERY impressed with what they did with the park! The new playground is AMAZING! There is plenty of shade thanks to many oak trees and a massive shade structure. The play equipment is rarely in the sun. The ground is spongy rubber not hard cement. There are wheelchair accessible ramps and swings. There are very clean bathrooms right next to the playground and several pavilions with metal picnic tables. A small simple splash pad completes the package. The only down side is that parents are letting their soaking we kids play on the playground equipment right after playing on the splash pad resulting in wet walkways. My kids have slipped and fell a couple of times. Sometimes tears are involved. For that, I wish the splash pad was a little more separate from the playground. Or have some sort of sign that says no wet children on the playground. All things considered, the city did a fantastic job with the renovation and my family is very happy, we go there just about every weekend!

By Tyrone D |

Car shows, fireworks, free converts, vendor stands, boat's. This park does a great job. Just love the town. My wife and I really enjoy the area and what they do to keep people entertained and it's enjoyable. Thumbs up

By doofusforreal |

Great for a family picnic,or to listen to the summer concert series,BUT avoid at all costs during Chasco Fiesta!!!

By HOLLY486 |

Always something going on at Sims park. Events for all ages right on the Cotee river, downtown New Port Richey.

By Gabe10101 |

This quaint small park in the center of Downtown New Port Richey is a great example of what every small city should aim for. It's not too big or complex yet offers 90% of what any local resident or visitor needs in a park. There is plenty of parking, a great accessible playground, splash pad, several hundred feet of paved trails, small open fields, and pretty scenery. A large open amphitheater occasionally hosts concerts and draws huge crowds. Otherwise, Sims Park seems calm, peaceful and is well-maintained.

A trail system connecting to other parks would be nice, but paved sidewalks are plentiful and will have to do. A small museum and the old Hacienda Hotel border the park. Ottaway's ice cream is a great local businesses. Several restaurants are also nearby. Enjoy!

By Audrey A |

This is a very clean Park/ beach! The setting is very peaceful! They have kiosks where you can get snacks and drinks. Parking is very close! There is plenty of parking spaces.

By evefrSI |

We needed a venue to attend and what comes up? The Cotee River Seafest !! There were vendors in tents of all kinds, activities for the kids, an art museum and a discounted boat ride down the river for family and friends.

By pat22444 |

Sims park is a wonderful place to have some time out side sense they have redone the park with all the new things they have up graded and added

By ktturner |

They have many festivals at this park with amphitheater for bands. A great place to enjoy music, great local cuisine and ice cold child and adult beverages.

By Robert E |

We had breakfast then drove to old downtown to explore and had a great walk around the lake through the veteran memorial and down to the waterfront. There were kids playing at the playground and a lot of folks walking their dogs in and around the lake ant the amphitheater

By rosiebegonia619 |

This park has many regularly scheduled--some free, some with fees--and is well set up on the cottee river, places to sit, restrooms, good view, walking distance to several good places to eat.

By aesdrumman |

Really nice park where City holds a lot of fun events, concerts, fairs to enjoy.
Walk around a small lake or stroll along the waterfront. Even feed the local birds.

By leventino1 |

It’s nothing really big it’s just a park that has maybe a little bit a water on one side and a couple ramps that you can walk up and down metal ramps once in a while they have concerts there believe it or Not. They have concerts there one time there was ABBA

By ElisabethGaffney |

It's a fun place to hang out with your friends, bring your kids, have parties, go feed the ducks, or simply just enjoy the Florida warmth in! Definitely recommend it. Travel photographers could get some good shots from this park too!

By Courtmomof5 |

I am a wedding officiant and photographer. Sims park is one of the most beautiful places ive conducted business at. The river is beautiful. The nature is welcoming and peaceful. I love the trees and i love the hacienda. This is a beautiful place to be part of your marriage.

By Don P |

With all the new addition to the park it has become a beautiful place to just park and vist or bring kids to play in kids area or watch a movie at night in new seating area .The made over park and lake are beautiful with parking and handi cap acsess available.

By Ellwood07 |

Well kept gem of a park that is adjacent to downtown New Port Richey. Shops, restaurants, ice cream, etc. Also situated alongside the Cotee River. Enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee, collect your thoughts, enjoy the peace and well kept lawns.

By TheUntetheredTourist |

In all fairness the negative reviews of New Port Richey are almost 10 years old. I can not recommend the city as a vacation area such as Tampa or Orlando, but it does have some redeeming qualities in its arts attractions and restaurants.

The downtown at Main Street is quaint and bustling. Much attention has been, and is being, given to restoring and updating its presence. The future will hold even more delightful destinations.

It is just east of Route 19, which can be madness. The river lazily and gracefully winds its way through town and leads to the Gulf at several wonderful restaurants. In the winter, an occasional well-informed Manatee or two appear at the mouth.

It isn't high hype. It is a delightful spot for those who enjoy quietness, culture, and fun dining.

By Robert N |

All ages will enjoy this beautiful meandering oasis in the city. Set along the river there are walking trails, picnic areas, benches for relaxing and a variety of play areas for kids. Close by are nice restaurants and an ice cream parlor. Very nice area!!

By jay j |

The little water area with tables around playground is awesome and no more wood (splinters) equipment! I was here when the community banded together and built the last playground but this is definitely a better place for the entire family!

By Linda S |

Nice place for a walk, lots of birds. Beautiful spot to sit by river. Has an exercise area...childrens play areas. Always has a lot events there a lot also. Concerts etc

By Steve K |

Sims park is undergoing renovation. It is and will become a good venue for kids. there is a band shell, It is river front. Festivals are held there. Once is complete it should be excellent venue. The old hotel in front of the park will be getting renovated and restored.

By marylou p |

Been waiting a long time for a safer park for the kids to play. The new play area is not as visible from main street as it was before so turn left just past the old spanish building and parking is .3 miles down on right. They have a water play area .Rental areas for parties and some have BBQ grills, play equipment is new and very safe. Not enough seating in shade around playground and there is a back open gate so if u have more than two kids to watch it can be nerve racking at times. Lots of locals all the time. Duck pond is nice and adult workout area too. Bring your own comfy folding chair if u need to sit and towels for the wet kids. The kids love it and makes for a great time outside.

By ronmatthies |

Recently updated site. Lovely water arcs and great children's accoutrements. The river location is calm and refreshing. Another polis is almost weekly events

By Michelle v |

Asthetically lovely. Great downtown improvement! My suggestion is foot patrol with city police. There is still some riff raff that hangs out there.

By Joe A |

Recently completely renovated. New playground walking paths, kayak rentals onto the river. A great band shell for special event entertainment. I've been coming to this park since 1975 it's been totally updated since first coming here they have a beautiful duck pond too. A wonderful family park to enjoy your day with local restaraunts within walking distance. I brought my children here and now my grand children.

By BobbiT66 |

This a beautiful park in a small city. Activities for kids and adults and you can walk your dog too.

By Lisa K |

Nice family park with benches to sit by the water. Most events for the city of New Port richey take place at or around sims park. The Christmas parade, the seminal Indian festival and many many fairs.

By nataliegriffin743 |

Sims Park has a new look, a splash park area, new playground, a big field to throw a football or kick around a soccer ball. You can walk around Orange lake and find painted rocks from the facebook group #NPR Rocks which is awesome for the kids as well as the parents. This is definitely a great family park.

By Catherine S |

I've been visiting this park since 2004 and used to take my kids to the old wooden playground when they were small. The park has gone through some major renovations and while we'll miss the old playground, the improvements are very nice.

By Lulabelle521 |

Been coming to this park for many, many years. The park, over the years became very old, dilapidated and a hang out for hoodlums. The renovation breathes new life to the downtown New Port Richey area. The playground is amazing. Gone are the old splintered, broken wood, that was an eyesore. It is now a family friendly atmosphere. and safe for children to play. They also re-routed the road to extend the park and speeding cars are no longer an issue. So glad to have this great little park by the water right here in Pasco County.

By Cassandra G |

There is a small trail that goes around the lake. The park is always clean and there are frequent events hosted by the city. There is a small area with exercise equipment. Dogs are always on a leash. It is close to downtown, so you can walk to the park from several businesses. There are many squirrels and ducks in the area, as well as native birds, turtles, and occasionally other animal species.

By Merrill M |

I go there most every day it is a great place to walk around the little lake and down on the river walk. It is a very peaceful there is special events such as car shows, music, etc. The 4th of July fireworks display is there and I can sit in my yard and watch them. which is very nice.

By pchaplin2 |

Sims Park is a delightful and picturesque place to stroll through with your children or sweetheart. Nature at its best!

By David C |

It's a great park. The city just invested a lot of money in the park and Main Street. Sims Park is a great place for kids to play, or have a picnic. It's a nice place to take a walk, and it's dog friendly. Please pick up after your pets. It is also walking distance to restaurants and pubs. They hold events on a regular bases. Live music, fireworks, etc.

By L Roney |

Clean park. Holds great free events and festivals. Nice playground and fountain park for kids. Recommend highly for visit with the grandkids

By Michael T |

The area has come along nicely with the addition of a water park for the kids, and recently remodeling of the nearby hotel. The downtown scene has attracted a lively crowd and the concerts and movie nights in the park are always a big hit!

By joanna P |

We had a great time. New playground
is wonderful beautiful park. Bandshell for great concerts. We visit often👍

By KTP585 |

I would say that this is the best place in Pasco county for young families. The playground is great , but even better is the water park. Kids just love that. Also, they have so many activities there nowadays, mostly free. Lots of restaurants nearby.

By Terry G |

they have redone the childrens playground in sims park and it was just wonderful..went with a 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 year old and they both had a wonderful time...as a bonus...some very kind people have painted rocks and leave them "hidden" for the children to find
they both had a ball looking for the rocks and them rehiding them for the next child to find...i was in the library in hudson and they graciously shared the rock info. a big thank you to hudson library

By J8651PHlindab |

I attended an outdoor church service at Sims Park. The covered stage area provides a good view and a great sound system. The river nearby is beautiful and peaceful. There is ample room for lots of chairs.

By DartmouthNsBrendamj |

By trish D |

i walk my dog there and he loves it and so do i . lots of shade and doggie doo bags available. when i take my grand daughter she can play in the water spring or on the playground equipment which is varied and always very nice.

By Lou F |

This is a beautiful park off of main street in New Port Richey. It has a nice play area for children and there is a band shell with plenty of lawn seating. They do hold various different events there thru out the year. Nice place for a family get together.

By Aaron S |

Too many homeless people, they run this place, if you go early they are sleeping under the bridge, around the lake, in the open, under the playground, even on the main stage.
Nice river setting, big oak trees, manatees and dolphin sightings sometimes.
The park is now under renovation, to be finished Dec 2015, looks promising, can't wait.

By Willie G |

Sims Park is a wonderful Family place to visit, next to the river you have a wonderful park to take your children to and great places to eat at close by as well, and don't forget to stop and get Ice Cream next to the park as well.

By Steve K |

City of New Port Richey has done an excellent job renewing and expanding Sims Park. You can walk along the river, picnic, take kids to splash pad, attend an activity or concert. A road was closed to expand the park to include a lake making area much more ascetic. Great place for family fun, bike ride, etc. On the site work is being done to restore a boutique hotel. Close by ice cream, sandwich shop and multiple quality places to eat.

By Sandra T |

Sims park hosted a festival that we attended in the spring. The park has a winding layout with nice paved walkways, pond, and trees. There's area with a stage to host music events. Plenty of vendors with food and drink and enough room for kiddie rides and vendors. Kids seemed to love the water feature and the playground with padded surfacing.

By jayfsh |

The restoration of Sims Park was a great investment! great place to relax and enjoy Mother Nature no more worries for parents who bring their kids to enjoy the playground

By Stacy B |

Great for any age group as they have a nice playground, a small splash park for children which is awesome for our Florida summers. They also have some workout equipment for the adults

By georgefebish |

We always enjoy this park. Last week was our annual boat parade. The fiver through Sims Park is very beautiful. There are free concerts and a wonderful children's park. This is a family place to be enjoyed.

By JayLisaP |

Sims Park recently went through an upgrade which was much needed. The additions and improvements are nice. The neighborhood is nice as well. I would recommend going during the day. There is no night time security which I feel is needed. Has a great river view, new play set for the children. Bathrooms need more up keep, boat ramp is awesome to use.

By jennifer t |

My kids love this place. Great for a picnic or a romantic walk. who doesn't like the park? Beautiful scenery.

By bluecookies |

Located at the corner of Main Street and Bank Street along the Cotee River in downtown New Port Richey, Sims Park attracts many people of all ages and hosts events year round, both small and large.

One of the main attractions is the large children's playscape. It was built in 1990 in a matter of a few days with over 3,500 volunteers! It features multiple swings, slides, monkey bars and other things to keep kids entertained. It even has built in stadium seating benches for mom and dad to sit and watch their kids.

On the other end of the park you'll find a covered stage pavilion that hosts local bands and other events during the summer. Beyond that you'll find a small parking lot. However, if you want to park closer to the playscape, park behind the old Hacienda Hotel that sits on the corner or across from Bank Street in the Gloria Swanson parking lot. Parking on Main Street is very limited. This is a city park and parking is free.

You'll also find a number of benches to relax on that face the river. It makes for a pleasant atmosphere to watch people fish from the banks or simply enjoy relaxing. There are multiple boat docks you can pull your boat up to as well and you'll find a boat launch on the other side of the river.

The park closes at sunset, which is best anyway. On occasion this area can be populated by teenagers who are up to no good which ruins the family-friendly atmosphere. Watch out for bike riders and skate boarders who might come around corners too fast. It's a potential safety issue. There are rules in this park, but rarely enforced.

I've included several pictures from our most recent visit including the playscape, river, band stand, etc.

I am not sure the town of New Port Richey realized the nirvana they were creating when this park was conceived. From the free concerts to the children's playground to the varied events centered around this park it is the centerpiece of downtown. What can I say it is an awesome place. Make sure to experience it.

By PATTY R |

Right now you will have to find alternative plans as the park is closed due to a renewal project of the area. They are going to put a splash pad in the park and revamp the play area for the children. I know that there will be many more upgrades to the park and for now the Suncoast News reports the park will be closed until late in the year.

By Randy S |

Concert was excellent. Had a great time. & It was free!!!! Every body loved the atmosphere. Real nice music.I understand there are more concerts coming. Will sure be there.

By Oni-oni |

Went for walk the place was beautiful with ducks and a lake. Excellent for picnics or just a walk. Plenty of parking.

By nannymil3 |

We go to Sims all the time to just sit by the river and relax. We are so happy that this park is in our neighborhood. The renovations that were done make this one of the best parks we have been to in Florida.

By Steve K |

Great relaxing atmosphere near river. There are benches and shade. Across the river is a boat ramp. Playground need major upgrade. Has events scheduled with clam shell outdoor stage which is a good music venue. bring your own chair or blanket.

Nice park in center of New Port Richey on Cotee River. Under construction until September. Band stand, picnic areas & kids activity/playgound area.

Beautiful little park in downtown New Port Richey. Nice little playground for children, safe feeling just to walk around or sit for awhile.

By trenthamgirl |

This park is ideal for little ones plenty to do,great seating to watch the children play, very clean please try

By thomas f |

Since the park has been Renovated it seems to draw a nice mixed crowd of Young-Old , Gay-Straight . I liked the park before but now i love it there

By Hrishishinde |

Liked that that park was well maintained. The park has a lot of old trees dating to 1800s.The lake had dried when we visited.

By GREGORY Y |

The park has been renovated into a lovely park. Easy walkways. Splash pad for kids to cool off and have fun. Plenty of places to sit. Shady places. Nice bandshell stage. Right by the river and handy to all the downtown shops. We've gone when there was a festival. The music was good with a big area to set up your own lawn chairs or blankets. There were a good variety of vendors. The local boat ride was discounted to just $5 to take a cruise down the river.

Sims Park is in the heart of New Port Richey, FL and has undergone dramatic changes over the past couple of years. It's a great place to stroll along the Pithlachascotee River, affectionately called the "Cotee River". There are areas for the children, the splash park is one of the new items. There are benches, tables, covered shelter and attractions offered throughout the year, such as outdoor concerts and festivals.

By Myrna S |

Sims Park is a very pleasant place to go and sit by the water, very relaxing, quiet. There are many activities that go on there thru out the year, my favorite one is Chasco that goes on there in March each year. Good food, good live entertainment, rides for the kids. Interesting booths selling different items, something for everyone!

We stayed an evening in New Port Richey and in exploring the small town, ran across this beautiful and busy little park. The park surrounds a lovely lake with Monuments to all the Branches of Service. There is plenty of water foul making the lake their home, so it is very pretty, including two beautiful gazebo'd docks. The park offers shelters and a water play area to cool off. There are water fountains with dog fountains conveniently located as well as public restrooms. The opposite end of the park lines the river and is cooled by large and old shade trees. The most ideal part is that we could bring the dogs...the park has poo-bags available as well. We were there on Memorial Day weekend. There was an abundance of people enjoying the park with picnicking, play, and sunning. The day we were there was very hot, but the shade trees and the various water features helped with a nice cool-down. The dogs loved the abundance of squirrels and all the people. Additionally the park is located near a cute older downtown area with various shops and restaurants including a coffee shop and an ice cream shop. The small park turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.

By Darian W |

The park has quite a scenic view with nice places to walk. The renovations were much needed and have turned the park into a much better place to bring kids, wife/gf, or the whole family. I hope the changes continue to bring more people to the park and create more changes in the area.

By Rosalin S |

Park nearby my home.Safe and relaxing since the The Phitlacochee River is next to it.Clean and equipped with good facilities around.Kids and pet friendly, too.

By TTTTTTTT |

This was one of the 1st parks I fell in love with. It was my go to park. Sit down enjoy a sandwich in peaceful atmosphere. The are friendly people and clean restrooms. Plus plenty of lizards that do push ups for you. 😁

This park has improved a lot over the years, and they recently added a new playground (with shade!) and a small area of water sprays that squirt up through the ground, a good place for little ones to play and cool off.

Also next to the Cotee River and Orange Lake. Clean and quiet on non-festival days.

By Bean03 |

Really nice little park to bring visitors and check out the old hotel being restored next door. This is the place that New Port Richey has their events. Nicely shaded and great place to relax and enjoy the sights.

By Reece W |

Old wooden playground. Great for the kids to play on. Has the river right there and a big open field for playing.

By Mr5stars |

We have been there for a couple festivals. Good little town feel and a pretty good stage area for local bands. It's on the water which adds to it's charm. can be pretty packed for festivals but not too packed. I will definitely be back.

By gary h |

I would recommend this this park to anyone. They have recently remodeled this park. It has everything for a family visit. They have plenty of things for the kids including swings, slides, monkey bars, and a wet place where kids can play whit water shooting out of portals. It's a park for everyone

By Joseph T |

It's a quite park around the lake and a nice walkway along the river. There is an "ampitheater" that is used for concerts. There is a playground on sight that has rubber matting. An exercise area is also present. Within walking distance of historic downtown New Port Richey with plenty of nice places to eat and drink.

By Joseph_Cerreta |

I Love Sims Park. Throughout the year you'll find numerous concerts, craft events, Native American celebrations, and in between all these offerings, it's a great place to just hang out or to take a relaxing stroll along the river. There's a great play area for the kiddy's too! Check it out - you won't be disappointed!

By liz m |

haven't been to Sim's park since they had the wooden playground. Was there early on Barktoberfest Sunday. Vendors setting up, very nice playground w/soft ground. Everything well placed. Bathrooms typical for park bathrooms but in a good location. River always nice to see.

By Sue R |

I take my Grandson there all the time as he just loves the playground and being able to feed the ducks.

By Bill W |

we went for a kids birthday party and it was fantastic with a play ground and a small jumping water park they could play in. was very nice to reserve the table area so we new we didn't have to get there hours before just to save a table

By Candy S |

Beautiful park next to the river, with fun activities for kids and social events for adults. The local ice cream shop across the road is lovely, additionally if you care to you may rent a boat to explore the river.

By Suzette B |

this park was recently remodeled and it looks gret. it now has a exercise area and many new features. a great place to take the family.

By Anne H |

beautiful park on the river! Were there Sunday for sefest. car show, music, arts and crafts, and of course food! Nicely landscaped, with lots of park benches, and water fun for the kids!

By Kelly C |

Sims park is such a beautiful. Great to stroll arm in arm with your significant other. Great for your family.

By Beverly61 |

Love that is has my maiden name! Beautiful fountain in middle of water, great for walking, super kid area - for all sizes, great for picnics, nice museum. Movies on sat. nights in outdoor screen.

By Road66034943769 |

Great to relax on benches along the river. They also hold many fun events at the park. We love it! Very clean park.

By Blanglois |

Great for walking, a picnic or just relaxing. Quiet, clean and appears very safe. Just a block off main street. Stroll up for a cup,of coffee and a cupcake!

By greenandblacktea |

We usually spent at least 4-5 hours there. Splash pad, park, large grass field, lake, fishing, river walk. Must visit!

By Tristen C |

I just had the police called on me because, I had my Chihuahua with me on the playground. The only sign posted was for the splash pad and not to have dogs on there. There is 2 dog water fountains, one at the playground entrance and another at the exit leading me to think this is a dog friendly environment. I had one of the park employees tell me to leave because, I had the dog under my arm as I pushed my daughter on the swing. His name is Todd. When the police arrived they told me Todd had received a complaint that my dog was nipping at people. That was a lie and could have led to my dog being destroyed if true. I was told to leave by the police because it was his word over mine and they weren't there to see if my dog nipped or not. If you love your pet never bring them here. You will have the police called and your dog possibly destroyed.

By Linda E |

I visit this park often. I live in the N.P.R area and I enjoy the free concerts as well as walking my dog on the weekends.

By Sam44Ohio |

Enjoyable place to visit. Walk along river. Museum very interesting with friendly staff. Walking distance to fun food. Ice cream shop across from hacenda hotel or sno shake for best shaved ice ever.

By DrFloyd001 |

I have been in scores of city, state, and national parks, and Sims is a sparkling example of a city park. It is nestled along an easy-going stream, with greenery everywhere, and footpaths that go hither and yon, with no need to hurry. If you like to walk, solo or with a friend or beloved, this is the place to be in Pasco County, Florida

By Desiree F |

Sims park is a nice area to take the kids. Recently redone and is very pretty. We went for one of the movies in the park, only downfall was the speaker system did not compensate for the sizing of the area. Difficult to hear the movie. But overall was a nice experience

By Cuin A |

The improvements are well worth the trip. Sprinklers and a new playground for the kids. Nicely landscaped. A fun day out.

By scott16 |

Great park for young kids to run around and play. The water sprouts are perfect for cooling off and the jungle gym is covered to keep the sun off. Plenty of benches is sit and watch the kids play. The set up is made for kids with disabilities to participate as well. Great job by the park commission.

By jmbaxter1 |

This park sits next to the cotte river. it has a small ampatheater. and is very clean an quiet.Nice place to relax.

By Shelly Tinder |

Sims Park is located along the river. The playground is wonderful for young children. The festivals held at the park are well laid out, and with a large variety of food, beverages, and crafts. Sims Park is located right downtown New Port Richey, so parking is seldom a problem...one can find parking on an off street somewhere, if the provided parking spaces are full.

By jaybeeFL |

We had dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant (Zen Kitchen) and was surprised to see how busy downtown Old New Port Richey was--place was mobbed with diners, theater goers, partyers... Parking was at a premium--had to park 4 blocks from the restaurant in a lot adjacent to Sims Park--was pleasantly surprised to hear music coming from a live group performing in the amphitheater located there and a large group of folks in the park enjoying the entertainment. Definitely had no idea that NPR had done such a great job revitalizing this area--will certainly return but will try to avoid the weekend crowd!

By raymanrossi |

Thousands spent on consultants and architects, millions on renovations and yet no one noticed that there are only 2 swings on the playground? My niece and grand children commented on the lack of equipment right away.

By Daniel S |

The updates to Sims Park are a really good thing for families and dogs. The only drawback is that infants are allowed on the fountain pad, but dogs are not.

By Thompson-Bombay |

Love the park in downtown New Port Richey. On the water, Paved walking, Amphitheater hosts music groups from time to time. Young children play ground and splash Pad. Walk to local restaurants and the local theater. Ice cream shop on the corner that calls my name every visit.

By saltlife80 |

Relaxing place to sit and watch the boats and wildlife along the waterfront. Bands and fireworks some times.

By Gary E |

I am really impressed at what the city of New Port Richey has done to improve Sims Park. It is a pleasure to go there now. The kids all seem to have a lot of fun with the new water area as well as all the climbing toys.

By Dan B |

This park is pet freindly and provides water fountains for pets and clean up bags. The city also made exercise stations, playgrounds, and kids water feature.

By John T |

Sims Park was remodeled for the family now. Great Kids areas including A WATER park for them to jump in and enjoy. for adults , there's a small exercise area. The river is beautiful, great boat shows and they have Bike festivals now and then for the motorcycle enthusiasts . You'll find great restaurants and , Dance clubs, also a dinner theatre. Don't miss it.

By Richard K |

This is a must visit park. Kids love the water splash part. Nice pond to walk around, or stroll along the river. Feed the birds if you like, I'm sure they will be happy.

By Mike T |

What a sketchy place, I would never go back. Punk kids hanging out smoking pot... Woods all molded over, not a place I would recommend to my worse enemy

By Tamy |

My boyfriend and I live in downtown NPR and often go to Sims park on a bike ride or a stroll. This park is so great for everyone. It’s great if you’re flying solo or with your family/friends. They have a playground, an area to fish, workout machines facing the water and a whole lot of open space if you just wanna have a picnic or do a workout. It’s really convenient and I love how many different situations it can accommodate.

By Eve I |

If you live in New Port Richey, this is the place to go for festivals. There is always a huge crowd and lots to do. On days there are no festivals, you can walk around the riverwalk looked at the trees, and feed the birds. It is a tranquil beautiful place. If you have kids, there is a wonderful playground.

By Sylvia H |

Great for everyone. I took a walk with my dog, saw other dogs. Saw kids playing, People jogging, or just enjoying a stroll. Right next to the boats and the water. They also have a band stand. Love it! Great job!

By Holli W |

The renovations are on point! It's a wonderful place to take a blanket or lawn chair and sit. There's a great playground w/ a water play area for the kids. But, if you go solo or don't have kids, the park is plenty large enough to find a peaceful spot to sit away from the family area. I take my dog (on a leash) and sit close to the river.

By TravelAlotUnMe |

This a great park with playgrounds. This is home to may festivals and events that take place in New Port Richey.

By Jan |

We visited the park because it was recommended on trip advisor. My husband and I sat on a bench overlooking the river. We watched many Boats, kayaks, birds, dogs, and people pass by. Everyone was friendly that walked past. There was a play structure for kids and Clean restrooms. There was a museum on the property although we did not go to it. The paths could be used as a walking path to get some nice exercise. If you want a spot to relax for a while I highly recommend this wonderful park!

By lisa b |

Very nice redo! They have a nice playground and even a special playground for the little ones! Definitely the best part according to my granddaughter and I would have to agree is the splash pad. A perfect way for the kids to cool off for free and close to home.

By golinskd |

Sim's Park is a great place to relax overlooking Orange Lake or take a nice stroll along the walkway. If you bring your children or grandchildren they will be delighted to play in the water part area. Don't forget their bathing suits.

By H R |

Since the renovations, Sims has become our favorite park! We love the festivals, music and events. The view around the river is very pretty- especially at sunset. The park is very clean and well kept. The perfect place to go for an evening stroll with the family. Love this place!

By Floyd M |

I've lived all over the country, and I always hunt out the local parks. Sims Park is one of my all time favorites. It is on the banks of one of the many rias in the watery Tampa Bay area. We love to stroll along the concrete path on the banks of the ria. While we haven't attended many of them, there are frequent events, with music, vendors, and excitement. One time we saw a 'gator floating along in the water.

By John R |

We walked through here during Chasco Fiesta, so some of the area was covered with booths and rides. Still, the layout with the bandstand and covered seating areas, the places to walk and just enjoy the river, were enticing on their own.

By Fast-Eagle01 |

They have added many family friendly features and lets you savor the river while picnicking. There is a brand new boardwalk around Orange Lake

By familytimes2012 |

Beautiful park moved to a better location. Lots for kids and adults to see and do. Roof over park makes it nicer year round. Enjoyed the rolly slide.

By Charity H |

Love all the updates they've done. Can't wait to see more. Quiet days or big festivals it has the feel of the little downtown but in a clean modern way.

By flawill48 |

Great place to take the kids to play or watch a movie and even go fishing. They annual events all year like Chasco Fiesta and the Christmas parades.

By FloridaGirl4340 |

The city finished a major revamp of the park a little over a year ago. The playground has all new equipment and a cushioned ground. There is outdoor exercise equipment as well. The bathrooms are new and well maintained. There is a splash pad for the children and water fountain for the dogs. There is parking nearby as well as family restaurants, ice cream parlor and a cupcake shop. Walking distance to local shops, restaurants and art gallery.

By pattiemarie |

We've been taking the gran-babies here quite a bit lately....they love it....can't get them to leave...they cry all the way to car...during the week its less crowded which is nice. Clean & relaxing place to have lunch, feed the ducks, safe playground area !!

By Nece R |

the view is so welcoming very nice people visiting too. Hang out on the bridge for a nice time to read too

By Tara pickett |

This prick is great for young children I want to say from 12 and under but if you are a teenager I do not recommend this park for you my daughter is 14 and she goes to the park to hang out with her friends because it's a safe place for them all to hang out and big enough so they're out of the streets not creating problems my daughter is upset because the cops there do not want them there they say their music is too loud and they're running around running around I said isn't that what you're supposed to do at a park is to be a kid and run around she is Mom I'm not a kid I'm a teenager so I guess this park does not welcome teenagers it's nice to know they really need to post this on their page recommended for children not teenage kids it's sad because there's a pizza place and ice cream shop a coffee place a great place to rent scooters but it's not recommended for teenagers to hang out there these kids go and hang out the Bell Tower so they're away from the young little ones out of respect but yet they're not allowed to hang out at the bell tower anymore they're not allowed to hang out at the theater and they're not allowed to hang across the street on the other side of the river because they're just too loud what is a parent to do is there a teenage park nearby if so please let me know sincerely Mrs Pickett one of the parents of the children that were kicked out of the park because they were just too loud :-( tPickett 07@gmail.com

By Michael D |

Recently had a facelift of the park with many added elements, park benches, shelter houses, sidewalks, flowers and landscaping done along with several walking choices, along the river and also along the armed forces memorial area!!

By Mortyy |

This park has a new look to it and offers great shows all year long ... Car Shows...Motorcycle Shows...Holiday shows ... And plenty of concerts...There is a lot of different food places to eat at and it is bring back what a real DownTown looks and feels like..Love it!!!

By Mizchef22 |

I'm very happy with all the upgrades to the park and the activities that keep our community busy . I believe this is a healthy and happy environment .

By Debbi S |

I love the updated park. I took the little boy I was babysitting first thing in the morning & then went & got lunch & then had to go back , it was so much fun. Make sure you take your little one's there to have some fun.

By Vickie T |

This is a great little park on the river in downtown New Port Richey. They have festivals and free entertainment all year round. They even have movie night with a large screen for the whole family. Just bring your chair and snacks. There are restaurants and ice cream to enjoy. It has a wonderful playground with a splash pad. My grandchildren love it here. Take a walk through Sims Park and enjoy!

By Rosanne T |

The new park has great shade areas when the brutal summer arrives. And that foundation in the kids play area is injury proof. Still miss some of the intricacies of that wood park but I like that adult exercise area.

By Kim D |

This park has great walking trails along a beautiful lake that also allows you to house hunt in envy!!

By MAK K |

The park underwent a renovation within the last 12 months and is improved. The park sits on the riverfront and that is a pretty, short walk. The park has a very small playground but overall, the park is quite small.

By Jennifer K |

The city of New Port Richey got it right with the park, and the rehab that they did. It is great to see life coming back to this are of New Port Richey!

By Leena M |

This park used to consist of one wooden playground with swings, an outdoor theater, and a small public bathroom. It has since been remodeled and modernized giving it a new playground with cover from the sun, a water-fountain splash area, new overhead cover on the lawn in front of the outdoor theater, an outdoor workout station, and larger public restrooms. There is a small pond with a sidewalk around it for walking or jogging and lots of birds to watch. It is located on a river and by local businesses and restaurants off Main Street. There is a small historic information center on premises as well.

By Rick H |

My organization, Pasco Kids First, does an annual "Family Fun Day" at Sims Park in November. Our day this year was the first after the park's recent renovation and it was a tremendous success. The renovations have made this spot by the river even more attractive for families with a playground that always seems to be crawling with kids. Thanks City of New Port Richey!

By NikkiP231 |

I must say that they did a great job on the rejuvination of the park. It is a peaceful lovely spot to sit and dream, or walk awhile. there is a new playground, but it appears to be for older children and is not as imaginative as the old fort style wooden playground. Those were the days. We will never forget them.

By William C |

Water sprinklers are a God send for ther kids in summer, nice bandstand/stage area. A highlight in an overall trashy town.

By Wade F |

Quiet, peaceful and natureful. This is the best place to go to relax and enjoy one of the great Florida days.

By emmyf1 |

Don't visit this place! I brought my 3 children there a few times and with each visit the place got worse. Smoking, fighting and no adult supervision was abundant. I did not feel safe and headed out immediately. They say that there will improvements made, I'll wait and see on that.

By Carla C |

This park has been beautifully renovated with nice walking areas, playground with water park for the kids, and built in exercise equipment. It is located on the river where you can fish. Free concerts and movies are also held there occasionally.

By phoenixwych |

I lived close to this park and I took my grandchildren there to play when they came to visit me. There's a great climbing and exploration attraction for them there and also a little area for the smaller children. The rest of the park is great for picnics and just lying back on a blanket to enjoy the fresh air.

By Tony T |

The park hasn’t looked better in decades! The new play equipment is fantastic! It is wheelchair accessible, super clean, and big enough for kids of all sizes and abilities. The investment made by the city here is wonderful and I am so excited every time I’m able to share time there with my family.

By georgefebish |

This park has it all. A playground for the kids, exercise equipment, stage area for free movies and great concerts and fairs that bring people out.

By Sheyla M |

It's a clean and safe park.
Live to walk along the water channel. There's a picnic area, a place for children to play and much more. Not to mention all the events they have for us.

By Gary A |

Every year that we visit New Port Richey we discover improvements to this city's little gem.
There's always something to do, between the festivals, the new water park and play ground and the leisurely walks along the river, you never want for nice time.
We've bought ice cream down town and sat in the park to eat it, taken the grandchildren to the new play ground and attend many festivals there.
The mature landscaping coupled with the beauty of the river makes this a wonderful spot to spend an afternoon.

By CanadianAmericanGirl |

This is a very pretty park downtown New Port Richey right next to the river. Love picking up food from local restaurants and have a picnic at the park. Nice chairs to sit in with a good book on the little piers. Nice, paved walking trails. Dogs are allowed and people are respectful picking up after them. The park is clean and well kept. There’s a nice play structure for little kids.

By FingerLakesTraveler1 |

This park has been nicely renovated with a splash area, exercise equipment, performance area, and plenty of places to sit and read. Good views of the river and an easy walk into NPR for ice cream or a meal.

By 621katherinej |

We have attended several free concerts at the Amphitheater here and were impressed by the excellent facilities and the caliber of the entertainment. The events are organized by the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center and they do an outstanding job!
The park is nicely landscaped, has a lovely playground for children, nice benches to relax on and watch the world go by and is clean and inviting.

By Anthony K |

The soft surfaced play area is a treat. These things bring the community together. My favorite spot on the Cotee River, with families gathering every day.

By Barbara C |

First visit since newly renovated. Easy access for handicapped parking & the handicapped. Lots of activities for the children. Nicely refurbished picnic area. Nice walking paths along the river. Relaxing area to be for all ages.

By Starviagera |

Lots of birds in the lake. Many children’s areas and many places to have a picnic. Didn’t see any manatees. Very nice downtown area to take a walk and have lunch

By Emily N |

This park used to be high in the scary side! The city has done great things to improve it and make it a great focal point in an area always in need of positive points to focus on!

The kids love the park and splash pad! New equipment and pavilions makes it an enjoyable time for the whole family!

By Mark |

Absolutely Love going to all the Free Concerts at Sims Park, And Festivals
Such as Chasco Fiesta, Kiafest Main Street Blast, Cotee River Bikefest, Cotee River Blues and Seafood Festival, Christmas in The Park Etc

By Mary A |

If you are visiting in the area of New Port Richey, FL, Sims Park is a nice place to bring your children or attend a concert or other event that might be taking place. It is not however, a place to make a point to visit if there is any real driving involved. Having said that, the leaders of our city are really trying to recreate downtown New Port Richey. There are several quaint restaurants and clubs close by and it's only going to continue ti get better,

By Rich G |

Great place to hang. Have a picnic. Walk around for some exercise. The big stage makes it a great place to see music!!

By ThePurpleKrow |

We go here often for picnics & to play Pokemon Go. It's a nice, clean & large park with a nice playground for kids, a splash pad, clean bathrooms, & a nice area for adults to get away from the loud playing kids, haha. Pond is always clean. We enjoy going here often

By GailRB |

Have lived in this area since 1977, have been to Sims Park on many occasions. Great park for the kids, plenty of shade. There could be a few more benches, but there are great things coming for Sims Park, as it is presently closed for a total "make over". there will be a new playground, a new stage and bandshell, which will be awesome for concerts in the park. There will be more seating throughout the park as well as more picnic space. Can't wait to see the new park when it is done.

By Tal L |

Cute place, beautiful view, playgrounds and shops, restaurants, concerts and parades sometimes and fun things to do and gatherings

By joane678 |

The county has really updated and upgraded Sims Park and did a great job. Such a nice place to walk or enjoy fairs, fests, boat parades and even outdoor movies. Check out the schedule for upcoming events. It's very family friendly and right on the Cottee River. I love walking my dog there, so clean and peaceful in historic downtown New Port Richey. Within walking distance to local eateries. Don't hesitate to come on down and enjoy this beautiful park.

By Laureen F |

free concerts plus chasco fiesta kid friendly and you can stroll along the river walkway! Plenty of place to eat in downtown New port Richey as well

By Carlos V |

Nice weekend event with seafood and live bands presentations and small-scale boat show. Free parking

By Dianasaurus97 |

This park has always been a hallmark of the city, but now it's even better. There's more shade, nicer greenery, a better playground, and it's safer in it's distance to roads. It's also conveniently located next to Main Street, so after playing, you can walk to the cute ice cream or coffee shop!

By fdaynawest |

Surprising large park with lots to do. Walking trails, fitness trails, wildlife, benches, playground, water. Very clean, easy to park.

By John V |

New Port Richey has done a great job with revitalizing Sims Park. It is a great venue for concerts, a hub for civic and local celebrations or just a place to relax. My wife and I travel extensively through out small towns accross the US and Canada and have found only a couple of community parks that rival Sims. Keep up the goid work New Port Richey!

By Dgeigs |

They totally redid the park, ripping out everything except the main stage, and put in a beautiful new playground. They even rearranged the roads around it. They added a splash park and are doing more events there. Check it out.

By jmanning16 |

Lovely time of year and things to do in the area Take a nice stroll or work out They have different events during the year

By 1955breezylou |

Bring the family and feel safe in a newly refurbished park with brand new facilities and a brand new playground for the children.

By phylliswilliams |

Sims Park is very beautiful and they have many different events throughout the year and most of them are free to enjoy including concerts and festivals. It is the site of the famous Chasco Festival which is such a wonderful event. Definitely recommend a visit here.

By meandsue |

This is a cute park with lots of birds. There are plans to upgrade it and with a little work it could be a real treasure.

By Maude S |

Sims Park looks so much better and more modernization. The park has some picnic tables, benches, stage for performances, brand new and very nice restrooms which are located right behind the stage, brand new playground with right cool floor which has some kind of memory foam feeling when you stand on or walk on. There is a nice little museum right in the park. You can bring your kids and/or dogs for walks or play.

By Leighpbaird |

Lots of fun for grandchildren. Very clean and nice playground. Also enjoy all the planned events at the park .

By Florida_Pat2010 |

This park is pleasantly located on the river and has ample parking and good washroom facilities. It's a nice venue for concerts or other special events.

By Lee R |

Just got back from walking through the New Sims Park and its the best that money can buy. Very family friendly and new and better, with the new playground, not just for the kids, but for the parents to sit and relax while watching their children play. Also the lake on the east side is much nicer to walk around and even bring our pets, with the convenience of trash cans and plastic bags. New Port Richey has done well in fixing Sims park up.

By Richard s |

Nice place to sit and relax on weekends. Scenery fantastic. Sit back enjoy a picnic, fish or read a book. A place to unwind by yourself or bring the kids and head to the park.

By daveandkathy |

Concerts are held here frequently, Chasco Fiesta in the Spring, Bike events, car shows, good family fun activities!

By schna1850 |

Sims Park is in a beautiful riverfront setting. It has great shaded areas with benches to sit and people watch or read a book. A lively walk around the lake either alone, with friends or your dog is a great way to get exercise. It plays host to many New Port Richey activities throughout the year. There's something for all ages, including playground and splash pool and a very active boat launch.

By CAIBDIA |

Nice grounds to stroll. If you want to see a concert, you must bring your own chairs. Inadequate parking available.

By cgraz513 |

they have a children's playground plus an area where water shoots out and children can play..You can barbecue and picnic there. You can sit along the river and just relax. Clean park and has restrooms....

By Anne F |

Great city park. Lots to do. Perfect for family pictures. Right along the river. Events throughout the year for family and all. Very clean and kept up.

By Victor Z |

This is a very clean and protect the park. My wife and I walk through here all the time with the kids playing in the water park we never see anybody doing any drugs we never see anybody doing anything illegal the police are always nearby and there's an ice cream shop right on the corner.

By Renzie315 |

We live in New Port Richey and Sims Park is a weekly adventure for us. The kids' movies are great, the monthly cover bands for us old folks are terrific and the playground is THE place to be for the under 12 crowd!

By TashaSch |

It's a great place to play during hot Florida summer days. My son loves to play and splash there. Would highly recommend it for all the kids.

By GUY A |

Chasco festival and free Saturday night concerts. Loved taking in the concerts. Bring a chair and enjoy the event.

By Carrie S |

Great little park to go for a walk and they have exercise machines now too! Love the outdoor concerts too, bring a chair.

By monkeymommy66 |

Movie night is great! My grand daughter loved it. Just make sure you make a vehicle for your child out of a cardboard box to enjoy your movie. They have a contest for the kids to choose the best one. The kids love it.

By Judybeenpr |

The center of New Port Richey. There are many scheduled activities (such as the Chasco Fiesta) year round. I like to walk my dog along the river wall, then take a rest and sit under the large trees. Playground and restaurants nearby.

By Sheila M |

Well lighted after dark. Design renders a relaxing stroll around Orange Lake. It is a no age limit delight!

By Evelyn R |

We too our family to the Caribbean Festival where food and drinks were served at reasonable prices. There also were vendors selling their wares and a steel drum band playing good island music.
For the younger kids there was a safe playground and sprinklers to cool them off.
However, there wasn't much in the way of park benches in the shade, only two or three of the many there. THose who've been there before brought their own lawn chairs or blankets.

By Lori Ann L |

Now that Sims Park has been completely redone you will enjoy a perfect place to take the kids or to just spend some time alone. Sims offers a variety of things to do for all ages. You can use the out door work out machines that face the lake or have your children run through the sprinklers go on the swings or just sit under the covered shelter. Being right on the river you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon and see dolphins and even a manatee!

By Trevor S |

This park is about one of the best small town parks there is in the area. Its hard to list all the amenities but let me try, it has character since it has been around since the 1920’s and is a beautiful peaceful park made for walking around and exploring.
- It has an amphitheater that is used all the time and there are festivals that are centered on the park and its amenities.
- It has a Lake with a sidewalk and rocks on its bank for kids to play
- A large playground with an included sidewalk water spray area
- A built in exercise equipment area
- A River walk
- Two boat docks including a kayak launch/dock
- A Boat ramp across the street
- An Old school Ice cream parlor within one block.
- Plenty of large old oaks with hanging moss
- Plenty of ducks and birds to feed
- A veterans memorial
- Free Movies in the Park Events
- Plenty of Dog walking space including Dog waste containers
It is also a very quite park that is great for walking and exploring including a local rock hiding club called New Port Richey Rocks…..so if you’re lucky you might even find a rock painted and hidden around the park by local community residents. And if that wasn’t enough. There is also a museum, which features New Port Richey historical artifacts, photos and more and an old 1920’s church that can be rented out for parties and other events.
So much to do in such a small space that you can almost spend an entire day here. If it is during a festival then it is even more exciting and fun.

Great playground and play in splash fountain so bring a towel cause the kids will love playing in the water. Picnic table with shade and a lovely walk along the Cotee River. Dogs welcome on leashes so there were a number of people walking their four legged buddies. Orange lake, right next door has a outdoor exercise area and small memorials to reach of the four branches of service.

Recent renovations have put this park over the top - Nice paths, great outdoor concert venue, and many festivals and activities on a regular basis. Dogs on a leash are welcome. You may even find a brightly colored painted rock (google New Port Richey rocks). Adjoining boat ramp and lots of shade.

Wonderful for a walk and/or regular outdoor events and concerts. It is located near the water. For children, they have a great playground park too.

We walk this park and downtown every early morning, we walk from down town to uptown and all around the park. The walks go buy so fast when there is so much beauty to look at. I highly recommend visiting this park!😍

This just a relaxing place to spend time. If it watch children play, fishing of the sea wall or a casual walk this is the place to do it.

Although it's going through a remake. This park is just the right size, for a day when you just want to be with friends, or just by yourself.......... My wife and I visit quite offten. Bring your own chair or use the benches that line the river walk. Rest rooms are kept clean. But, can get caught up when there is an event going on. Of which there are many. During the week is the best time to visit. Weekends are a little busy. Oh! by the way you can also fish along the riverwalk. Make sure that if you need a fishing licence you have it with you. Main street is just a short walk away. All kinds of good food to be had....... Come and enjoy yourself.........

Always a great time at Sims Park! The park was recently renovated and now has a great playground and splash pad for kids, walking trail and outdoor excercise equipment for adults, boat launches, fishing spot, and an ampitheater for outdoor movies and concerts. Great venue!!

By Jay P |

Nice park depending on when you go there and what maybe happening. Different activities and festivals depending on time of year. I could take it...or leave it... Know before you go...and it could be hot..dress accordingly.

They really have cleaned this park up. It used to be a bit of a pit. Now it's clean, has a nice playground, great short walking with beautiful views of the river.

By coopscal |

Many local events planned here, good to check out the area and see the "happeneings". A newly renovated park in the center of downtown. Sit by the river and relax or bring the children for a great day's outing, splash pad, play areas and lots of room to roam and run.

By MJ |

Set on the Cotee River, this park if beautiful, safe and fun for everyone! A boat ramp, water sprinklers, and a riverfront walkway are just a few amenities Sims Park offers. Dogs on a leash are welcome, too!!

I run many different county and community parks, but nowhere do I find friendly people also out enjoying the scenery and morning air.

Since they built this new playground and splash pad at Sims park, it's been a great place to take children during the day. Love how the new playground is covered with canopies to help block out the sun and keep the playground equipment cool. Splash pad isn't nothing "impressive", just water squirting up out of the concrete. But the kids sure do enjoy it! They also built brand new pavilions to host BBQs and or birthday parties. Best times to go is during the week, weekends are really packed there.

By JacobConnie |

Love the live bands during events, the play ground for the kids, the river that has a walking path . Sim's park is very close to all the little cute down town area of New Port Richey, which hosts several bars and restaurants for anyone's liking

By dbingDayton_OH |

New playground for downtown New Port Richey; great surface and good choice of equipment. Smaller equipment for smaller children but little for the 'older'( @12 and up) kids so when they start running on the large bridges and chasing each other, it is dangerous for the younger children enjoying it.
Love the soft rubberized footing; no "I have wood chips in my shoes".
There is also water spouts, picnic tables, benches for parents to sit and exercise equipment for older kids and adults to use.

I'm single and have attended several free concerts with friends from my community. We bring a large crowd, there are usually enough chairs for all of us, but it is still an intimate setting on the lawn area. Most events have food trucks too. This is a great place to walk your pets; they have a water fountain for them and a disposal site for their waste. There is a great playground for kids and a water fountain area to play in.

This is a really great place for all members of the family. The City has done an excellent job in the renovation of the park. There are places for kids, benches to sit and look at the river, pining areas and a great walking track.

Very nice park for families. Good fun with water splashing area and great playground. Definitely recommended.

Went to the park for Chasco Fiesta and ha so much fun we are thinking of having a birthday party there. The recently renovated park is beautiful with a huge shaded playground, a water play area for the kids, the band shell and pavilions available for rental. There is also an outdoor fitness area with an elliptical, a bike and some other equipment. I really resented the fact that they cut out part of the loop around Orange lake but now that I have seen the park in action I understand. The park is now wide open, sunny and great for the whole family.

Very nice park to walk around! Clean people seem to be nice! You can watch people putting in the boats Kayaks! Grab a Cornerstone Pizza and have a picnic! Or get some ice cream and enjoy life!

By Unicorn207 |

This is a gem of a park with nice walking paths along the river and thru the green space. There is an outdoor theatre where there can be entertainment, once a year they hold a classic car show ( perfect venue) and there are birds and turkeys by the lake. We also visited the Historical Society Building ( donation) and look forward to touring the Hacienda Hotel which is being renovated as a long term project.

If you don't mind hunting all over to park you may like the park. Was very nice then it was remodeled for some reason. I know the city may like what they done but lots of us don't. Lots of mindless renovations. I'm sure the city of NPR had lots of money wondering a way to waste it.

The park has been upgraded A LOT! It truly IS a good experience to walk around or just sit and relax on the benches or even the grass near the pond. Just a nice and Peaceful place to visit...

There are several special events planned throughout the year. Very shady and the new play yard with a water feature is very nice. Just strolling can be very pleasant along the river. Many nice little restaurants are within walking distance.

Beautiful park right on the river. The place is very well taken care of. Many oak trees give nice shading. Park benches, outdoor concert area, nice bathrooms & a great play area for the kids. We visited for their annual seafood festival. The festival was a bit disappointing. Only a few seafood stations which all but one was like fried FAIR food. A few beers & wine to chose from. Both required buying tickets first which was off putting. There were also many other vendors selling merchandise, food & apparel. The live bands however were excellent. The park had overhead canopies on the lawn in front of the stage for shade. People set up their own chairs early for the best seats. Free entry into the park & parking nearby. Dogs were also welcome.

Shaded updated, safe playground equipment. Riverside walkways. Open air amphitheater. So perfect for an afternoon with the family or a stroll of solitude. Clean and well kept, this place is a jewel of the City of New Port Richey.

By grannyck2016 |

This park is beautiful with the Cotee River there where you can sit and enjoy the view. There's a new play area for the kids. Many events are held there over the course of a year.

By rench99 |

This is a place that always has something going on, wether a concert, bike fest or food fest. There is plenty to do in Port Richey which is in walking distance.

By Luv2TravelNEGirl |

We were visiting the Anclote Park and by chance we googled for a local ice cream place and ended up at Ottaway's Ice Cream Parlor in the downtown area of New Port Richey and saw Sims park from outside there and walked over. We are glad we did! our toddler had a blast here. Great playground with lots to explore and some different equipment than the standard playground. They have bathrooms here too and a small splashpad. There were lots of kids and my son loved it! He didn't want to leave. We also saw a notice that they do movies in the park on select dates so we may check that out too.

This park has undergone a wonderful renovation. It is small but it's in the heart of downtown right off the river, within walking distance of shops and restaurants. There are plenty of sidewalks for walking around, benches, a few pavilions with picnic tables, a great playground under shade, work out area, fountain play area, and even a stage for events. It has been a great hot spot for the area. As my husband and I got in the habit of playing pokemon go, I have to mention it is also the hotspot for pokestops as you walk. We especially enjoy circling around the large pond with the fountain. We visit regularly now.

Good clean place to bring the family hang out. most weekends the have something going on and its mellow cool water front.

New Port Richey is a unique place. At the center is a terrific park that usually has something for everyone. It is wonderful to see young families taking advantage of the wonderful fenced playground, with a water feature for kids to play in, picnic tables, a path around the pond/lake. And then all of the events they plan for the amphitheater like free concerts, free movies, carnival events. It is well situated along the Cotee River where there are walking paths. It is a comfortable spot, away from the maddening hustle and congestion on Route 19.

Had not been to Sims park in a couple of years. Went last week and WOW. It is beautiful. Dog friendly and very clean. Beautiful place for a walk in the park and a picnic lunch.

By cozmicallygood |

The city has really fixed this park up. There are water fountains for kids to play in. The grounds are beautiful and nicely maintained.

By Gator58 |

Visit Sims park; it is a sparkling waterfront gem in the City of New Port Richey now. Before it was an aging silent movie star hanging on to the past, now it has been connected to Orange Lake and the History museum and Peace hall are more connected in the park. The new playground and splash pad are great and the location is much better. The flow of the park and walkways really improved the versatility and the new entrance from Main Street connects the park more with the Downtown area as well. We were there for the Cotee River Seafest and it was the best one we have been to, tons to do and see and plenty of parking available all around the park and in the lot where the old church was.

By Dawn C |

The transformation of Sims park and the surroundimg area is nothing less than amazing and welcoming. The park os clean, well, lit with plenty of room to enjoy a nice walk or stroll around the park.

By Gary L |

I used to really like Sims Park, aside from the parking problems. Instead of fixing the parking problems... and maybe building seating/steps in front of the ampitheater, the powers that be decided to do a complete makeover. I don't like different, but I do like better. This makeover is the former, not the latter.

Beautiful upgraded renovated park
Nice sidewalked path for walking
Splash pad for kids
Clean restrooms

Had my 2 year old grand daughters birthday party there. Rented a pavilion for the whole day and had a great time. Cooked on the grill at the pavilion right next to the splash zone. Kids all loved it. Parents could sit in the shade and be close enough to watch the kids play. Park is on the river and is a nice place to go and relax as well. They have concerts there and festivals several times a year. Nice place.

By Scott34652 |

Since they rebuilt Sims Park it is a pleasure to bring the Grandkids there to play. They just love the jungle gym & the splash area. I really nice place to bring the kids for free.

By Patti D |

Sims park is a great place for family gatherings. They have a lot of events there as well. It is centrally located to downtown New Port Richey, which is a great little city with many good restaurants!

By Munjokeevis |

This always was a beautiful place to take a stroll along the river, but since the upgrade it is a park for all ages. A great place to listen to a concert, watch a movie, exercise, watch the children in their new area, or listen and watch the hundreds of different birds.

By momarketer |

Over the years, the city has invested to keep this a great place to visit to relax or have fun with your kids.

Beautiful Park with lots of walking paths and a wonderful play area for the kids. The lake area has lots of wildlife to enjoy as well!

By Sue C |

A pretty park along the Cotee River. Take a walk along the river with lots of benches for resting or watching the boats and birds or have a picnic at one of the many covered areas.
Restrooms are nearby. There are a variety of activities throughout the year in the park from boat parades to concerts and much more.

Love Sims park, a fun place to visit, rest or take a nice walk. Good place for children to play, very nice setting.

By pcsmith351 |

We took our grandchildren here for the children's park area. It is a fabulous area for kids! A great splash area and safe, fun, playscape for children of many ages. The only negative is the swings are too close to the other play park and younger kids can easily get kicked in the head running from one place to the other. Such an improvement and making New Port Richey an exciting, growing, family community with an enchanting downtown!

By rickbrennanrn |

Beautiful setting by the river. Nice shops and restaurants close by. Playground for the kids, picnic areas too. Parking is not the greatest, especially during bigger events. Neighborhood on other side of river near boat ramp is a dump.

By Alloutt4one |

Very nice place to bring children. Very clean, and water view is beautiful, also has places to bbq food. Thumbs up!
