great views

By laura m |

Best view in Chicago. We went for 9am entry so was quiet. I personally didn't do the skydeck but my husband did. He doesn't mind heights but was still a bit shaky at first. He said it was worth it.

By MrMrsW50 |

We booked online, so no queuing. Loved the interactive displays before ascending the elevator. The views are unsurprisingly excellent, and the photos from the glass floor really good . Be prepared to queue for the glass floor tho, but it’s worth it !

To do absolutely. And attentive and flexible team.

Perfect weather. Incredible view. Sensations guaranteed.

I had booked a ticket for a time that I had to change, I wrote on the site, they made the change without problem within the hour.
A big thank-you.

Anyone who hasn't been to Willis Tower hasn't been to Chicago!

By Erna |

The Willis / Sears Tower is THE attraction par excellence in Chicago and I can only recommend it!!! A ticket is not quite cheap but is right in the US average for such attractions.
It is recommended to come in the morning, before the big crowd! We were able to get relatively close by bus, so the accessibility is good.
We got there way too early! But on request we were able to exchange our ticket and immediately up! A great service!
There's a kind of mini-museum with Chicago facts until you get to the elevators. These race crazy fast up, but I never felt uncomfortable.
Once at the top, you can walk 360 degrees around and take as much time as you want, except on the glass balconies, there is a great system there, every couple/family has 90 seconds. This gives you the guarantee that you don't have other people in the most important photos and that it goes on at some point and you don't queue forever! This is very well solved! I do not understand the criticism of this handling!

Incredible. Worth the money!

This was always a bucket list of ours to do, and we decided to pre-book (which is essential!) and decided to go an hour before sunset. This would allow us to see the transition from day, sunset through to night. We got to the tower early and spent some time exploring the gift shop whilst waiting for our slot. Once our slot was called, there was then a 20min exhibition of how the Willis Tower was built which was interesting, before we boarded the elevator. The view from the top is spectacular, but even more so during sunset. We would highly recommend you go at this time! There is a long queue (at least 30mins) to get into the glass box, so be prepared to wait in line for this, it is included in your ticket price and well worth doing if you aren’t too scared of heights! The only disappointment was that once at the top, there was no bar, or anywhere to buy a drink or snack, this could really be a good idea! Overall, we loved our trip to the top, and would highly recommend you do this when in Chicago!

Amazing view from the Skydeck

By JCKLA |

One of the best views of Chicago city... The experience in the SkyDeck is one you can't miss... This is a must go, when visiting Chicago

Never go there

By gema m |

It is the saddest dinner experience in my life.

Nobody at the bottom knows about it, it is difficult to find even after asking several people downstairs. When you finally are getting out of the elevator, you find a totally empty office, nobody there, and a very small table with salads already prepared and placed there who knows when.

We were 3 people having this lonely lunch, and when we left, there was another small table aside with 2 salads prepared and waiting for another lonely to be couple.

I would not pay even 10$ for an experience like this. There are better ways to see Chicago from the top in other buildings.

Excellent - must do when in Chicago

By Docbot_Sydney |

I picked a gorgeous day to go up to the skydeck - it was clear so I had an excellent view. The staff were friendly and supportive. Highly recommend as an experience in Chicago.

Best View of Chicago

By Fa-HEE-tahs |

Plan to stand for awhile but it will be well worth the wait. There is an amazing view at the top. A note, the time in each deck is limited per how many people are in each party. You don't have to buy photos from the company themselves, you can take your own, just make sure that you are ready because they time you and the time goes by fast to let everyone have to chance to take pictures.

Chicago seen from the 103rd floor

By Pure_Diamond |

I'm afraid of heights and thought that I can't do this: stand on 103rd class floor and look down. We had 90 secs time to stand on that floor and I sneaked there and looked down. Wow... I did it👍👍👍. Very proud of myself..

What a view.... I recommend this experience👍

By SDombrowski |

Breath taking view of the city, lots of photo opportunities throughout your & history displayed. Clean facility, professional & friendly staff.

Must see sights

By Bull City Eats |

I’m not a fan of heights but I put my fear aside and went anyway. I’m glad I did. It was amazing to see the views, especially at night. The tickets are easy to buy at the kiosks, there is a history of Chicago display as you wind your way up to the Skyview area. The lines weren’t too bad, but we didn’t go until after 8pm. There are gift shops obviously to buy nice mementos. There’s also an opportunity to have your picture taken by staff and purchase them before you leave. In addition the building itself has other shops and places to eat, on the 4th floor there is an outside terrace to sit and there was live music the night we went. Over all it was a lot of fun, a great experience for the kids, and something we can check off our bucket list.

View and Adventure!

By Aparicio D |

An adventure. On the 103rd floor of Chicago's largest tower, the Wilis Tower, they built a deck, from where you can see the entire beautiful city of Chicago. In addition to a store with many souvenir options, the highlight of the tour is taking photos on the decks, which are glass platforms that extend outside the building. It's about 470 meters high on glass!!!!! Unmissable.

Bad experience

By Claudia perna |

Bad experience. They give you 90 seconds to take pictures and the staff when you ask them to take the picture click in burst without even waiting for you to position yourself. Result? All photos are blurry because they waste your time taking the photo with their camera on the balcony and selling it for $35.

Do this !!

By Joyce S |

When visiting the Skydeck, we took in the Ledge ... I couldn't really look down (until I was back inside the building), but I would definitely recommend doing this. You get a specific time to be inside the "ledge", so everyone has a fair chance of taking enough pictures - if you want to take more, you just re-join the queue!!

By Lisa D L |

8am slot purchased through TripAdvisor for expedited access. Waited an hour as venue opened at 9 and didn’t recognize our tickets and issued general admission tickets instead which were less $$ than what we paid TripAdvisor. Very unhappy. Don’t know which company messed up.

By Qbtrav |

Very good. Great view of expanse of Chicago burbs. Went into glass viewing location. Great views at night. Could see all the buildings lit up for st Patrick’s day.🎉

By Pompeylad |

It’s a must in Chicago. Bit pricey, but the views are spectacular. We picked a beautiful morning & thoroughly enjoyed our time at the top…. Museum interesting

Must do in Chicago!

By Jenny H |

I highly recommend the Skydeck as a must do experience in Chicago, especially with kids! We booked a 9am slot and it definitely become more crowded when we were leaving around 10:30am. The views were spectacular. Definitely book your tix based the weather. We had clear skies and could see for miles, plus the sun reflecting on the lake was stunning.
PS - I don't love heights or crowded elevators so I was on the fence but I'm SO glad I did it. The elevator ride is smooth and fast and they play a video on the walls during the ride. Once you're at the top, there is plenty of room to enjoy the views without going right up to the glass.

Good Experience, a bit overpriced

By Cryptic_Tourist |

I will say at $46 a ticket its a bit pricey for what you get. The view is great and all, but the real draw is the ledge which you only get 90 seconds to take photos on. If you want to pay the extra $20 per ticket for expedited photos you can, but, yikes. Thankfully, the line for the ledge didn't take us super long on a Saturday afternoon, maybe 15 minutes, but I bet at sunset it's insane.

By Hans Z |

The entrance fee of $40 is much too high. The view is magnificent, provided the weather plays along. When you enter the exhibition area, which you have to walk through before you get to the elevator, photos are taken. At the top there are several glass floors where more photos are taken. You can then buy these at the exit for $45. I think 4 photos (2 each) cost more than the entrance fee, which is completely overpriced. In my opinion, it's a complete rip-off.

Cool! But the name should have stayed "Sears Tower".

By Ken |

"Do one thing every day that scares you", Baz Luhrman sang. Visiting the Skydeck checked that box. (Acrophobia is REAL!) We got there in broad daylight and stayed until it was dark. Both were sensational in different ways. We saw some amazing things, in more than one sense! Plus, visiting on 9/11 made it extra special. Chicago, we were really impressed. Never forget!

Kids will love it it. Adults may find view underwhelming.

By JESMizzou |

I think this is a great spot for families -- the kids will love the ledge and theres a bunch of places to eat inside the building and the elevator ride is part of th fun.
Def worth a go to experience once of the tallest buildings in the world. The ledge is a cool photo spot but the views are a little lacking since its so far away from the lake. I say if you have a City Pass you may as well do it, but Id probably skip.

Great experience despite the weather!

By GillRouch |

We visited during a torrential rain storm so visibility was zero. We were offered a change of date/time but this didn’t work for us. We decided to go up to the tower anyway. The museum walkthrough tour was very enjoyable. Staff were helpful. Good experience but wished for better weather!

Hermosoooooooo

By Yenobis Sarduy |

Fascinating views and beautiful photos. The line is fast and everything.very well organized. You can repeat if you want more.photos

Pretty cool

By Christina F |

Cool experience and a must do if you’re in Chicago esp for a first timer. I went solo and I also liked the experience before you got in the elevator to head up - there’s a lot of info on Chicago history, pop culture, food, etc

Interesting, but expensive and long

By jaime c |

After six days of cold and rain we went to the Willis Building. We arrived at 12:15. The available tickets were for 13:30.
The first row to enter, lasted 30 minutes once inside we made a second endless row, which lasted 2:40 minutes, in which you are snaked through countless dark corridors with photos of Chicago.
Once we got on the elevator we reached the top floor and again we found a long line to access the glass balconies, because of the tiredness and time.... we did not. So we prefer to see the different views of Chicago...
Interesting. We finally left the building at 16:10...
One detail... Basic ticket costs US$ 50 PER PERSON, (tax)
You decide...

UNBEDINGT

By EH6695 |

We were also here as it was included in the City Pass. It should be a must if you are in Chicago. great view of the city.
With City Pass you can get in quickly without long waiting times

By Ian G |

This is one of the must do experiences. There is an exhibition to travel through on the way to the elevator. This is enlightening and good way to manage the queue. The lift to the 103 floor moves swiftly. The views from the deck are amazing. The queue for the ledge was so large we skipped the opportunity.

Great experience!

By Melissa F |

We purchased our tickets before our trip to ensure that we did not miss out on this experience. The crowd was managed very well, the staff was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed exploring the museum before heading up to the Skydeck. The view was beautiful and The Ledge was a must do. We highly recommend this to others.

Breathtaking Views and Smooth Experience!

By adriana |

Great! On time, no issues whatsoever! Absolutely worth it! The Skydeck offers stunning panoramic views of Chicago—truly breathtaking, especially from The Ledge. Entry was smooth and well-organized, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A must-do for anyone visiting the city!

Great views of the city

By stzi |

We used our CityPass to go check out the Skydeck. Going up 105 stories was easier with the little movie they show on the walls of the elevator going up. What a view! The sky ledge freaked me out a bit, but makes a good picture. It wasn't busy when we went, but with the CityPass, you get a special line that goes faster.

A Breath taking experience: Skydeck Chicago

By Mrudula |

Visiting Skydeck chicago was a daring experience. You are supposed to go to the 100+ floor in lift. your ears would pop! From the moment I stepped onto the observation deck, I was greeted with the stunnng chicago skyline view. The highlight is obviously the Ledge. Four glass boxes extending out from the building at 103rd floor. You must have lot of courage to see the street down from the skyline but it is truly fun. Stepping onto the glass floor was thrilling and terrifying. We visited in summer and there's lot of crowd. The city is most beautifully seen when you see it from skyline at night with all the lighting all over. It's a must visit and amazing experience for anyone who visit windy city.

Long Weekend in Chicago

By DianaL6232012 |

This was my favorite part of our weekend getaway. Yes, it's a bit nerve-racking to be standing on a piece of glass jetting out from a building 103 floors up, but it's definitely worth it! I highly suggest the City Pass for this one! We were able to get in the expedited line and cut probably about 50 people, just one of the perks of a City Pass! We were able to spend as much time out on our ledge as we wanted. They take professional pictures, but we were also allowed to take our own. We did end up buying theirs, just because it was a great picture of all of us!

A recommendable activity for whoever visits Chicago.

By Abel R |

A great experience for my first day in Chicago. Skydeck takes you to the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower and take in the amazing view of the city. There is an area to take pictures over the ledge of the building - you have 90 seconds to take photos and if you want to take more you can simply get back in line.

So much fun

By Todd Y |

This was my first time back to the Skydeck in 5 years. It's a great experience! Going through the exhibits before getting to the elevators was fun and informative about the history and culture of Chicago. It's interactive so take your time going through it. Once you get to the elevators and head up, there's no way to go back and see the exhibits again, unless you want to pay for another admission.
Of course, the Skydeck is an amazing experience. The first step out onto the glass floor platform is freaky! The glass floor experience is timed, which is great, so the line moves quickly.
The admission to the Skydeck is definitely worth it.

Great experience minus the poor visibility

By Shawna |

The Skydeck at Willis Tower is definitely a must-see when visiting Chicago! My daughter and I loved the overall experience — from the fun elevator ride up to stepping out onto The Ledge, it was exciting and memorable.

Unfortunately, the visibility wasn’t great the day we went due to cloudy weather, so we couldn’t fully enjoy the incredible views we were hoping for. That said, the staff was friendly, and the interactive exhibits were still worth checking out.

We’d definitely go again on a clearer day, but even with the limited view, it was still a cool experience!

By GGpierro |

The former tallest building in the world dominates the Chicago skyline. On clear days, the observation deck, located 413 meters high, has an impressive view. For the bravest, glass cabins stand out from the structure of the building and you have the feeling of flying 103 floors above the street. And, of course, you will be repeating the scene of Ferris Bueller leaning through the glass.

90 seconds picture opportunity

By Susana c |

You will only have 90 seconds to take your pictures on the clear balcony. They fit 2 groups/ families per balcony. Make sure you have a plan and your camera ready! That time includes the picture they take of you for you to purchase.

By Gabriel |

The experience is very good, with easy access and friendly staff. You can stay as long as you want, and they have a gift shop with nice items.

By Ryan W |

Super cool history tour as you make your way to the sky deck elevators. I wasn’t expecting that and it did a great job of setting the stage for the experience to come. It was crowded, but that was to be expected, and there was still plenty of room to move about and enjoy looking out in each direction. That glass windows that you can walk on were fantastic and a little nerve wracking. Great experience with teenagers and a toddler!

👍🏼

By Hiba K |

The view is impressive but you should plan to go one day without fog to avoid unpleasant surprises

By Freya123456 |

Very quick lines and professional staff! The skydeck was awesome!! They give you 90 seconds; which trust me is plenty of time!!! The elevator experience is lightning fast and educational. Loved it

By Darren L |

We came here for a 9 am time having booked our tickets online. We had a little bit of a wait but near the front of the general admission line.
There are a few interesting exhibits before you enter the elevator. This goes up very quickly and you enter the observation deck. This is a big area with big glass windows so didn’t feel too crowded. We liked the glass boxes on the edge. The views were fantastic and luckily the weather wasn’t too bad on the morning of our visit.
They take your photos which they offer you to buy at the end but thought they were too expensive on top of the admission price. We enjoyed our visit and feel it is probably a must see attraction while visiting Chicago.

By PWMcC |

Fantastic.

If there is a tall building to visit in any city i have to do it !

The Willis Tower dis not disappoint !

Fantastic views across city.

A Chicago must do

By Cheryl J |

Really well done. Lots of signage and lots of available clean restrooms. Plenty to see and read on your way to the elevators. Well organized. They will even take pictures with your phone! Felt like we had plenty of time on the actual ledge! A MUST DO when in Chicago.

Cool experience

By BriannaW2323 |

Worth going up and seeing the views. It’s organized but takes quite a while. Look into getting express passes if you can. You only get a short amount of time to take pictures at the top so know which poses you want ahead of time.

heartbroken

By susie s |

I took so long to write this review becuse i was GOBSMACKED. This is nothing like the movies! Wheres the singing and dancing i am extremely dissapointed. Chicago is my favourite musical and i feel the following: heartbroken, betrayed, lied too and taken advantage of. I cant belive this

By Aerowing |

We haven’t been to the top of the Sears, yes Sears Tower in a long time.
We decided to go with some friends from out of town and it was a fun experience.
The tickets are expensive though, we paid $187 for four tickets for four adults. I think it’s cheaper if you go online to their website and buy them which is just as easy to do.
There’s a lot of information about Chicago before you go up the elevator. There’s lots of photo opps as well before you go up.
The elevator ride itself is fun and you don’t even know you’re moving because all the walls in the elevator are video screens.
Once at the top, you can stay as long as you want and admire the views. There’s bathrooms and even a gift shop at the top.
The Ledge part was fun, they allow you 90 seconds per group to experience it. It’s not really scary but fun to do anyway.
Overall it’s a fun time if you’re visiting in Chicago, just want something to do.

for 1st time visitors, not worth to go second time

By ELKW |

it was quite expensive, we booked the ticket at 1pm on a weekday, but it costs almost $40 per adult (I believe it's at least $40 including tax), but you may just stay less than 2 hours, so it's an expensive attraction comparatively. I would rather going to the Color factory which is cheaper, more fun, and have things for you to spend longer time, moreover the photos are included without extra payment. Talking about the Skydeck, luckily there was not much people at the time we visit, no lines for the elevator and the queue for the ledge is not long, we can line up again and again for 3 times to take pictures (as only 90 sec each time). It may be due to the foggy weather on that day, that's why not much people go there. The sunset period and night time will be more people. There are 5 ledge area and all facing West. For the photo package, it costs about $35 for a single one, but $45 for all digital download. It may be worthy if you have 2 families together, with different combination of photos. But you can take picture there with your own device, so there is no need to buy the photos if you think it's not worth. The museum is ok, but once you go up to the Skydeck, there is not much to see except the view.

What a sight at the top.

By matl2022836 |

This building does not disappoint; it is a structure giant, with a fast ride to the top. Nice lobby as well when you enter.

Exhilarating trip into the sky

By Jason F |

The attraction itself is very clean and straight-forward, allowing the 360-degree views to do the rest. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and plenty of photos are available. The Ledge was a nice combination of exhilarating + terrifying for me. They have even marked the iconic location from the Ferris Bueller film. A must-do if you're in town!

Racist and rude person Rocio

By Alexander R |

Hi
I need to complain about Rocio working on 10/25 around 1 pm
She is inviting her friends at the glass floor and insults another people to leave the glass floor for them, a very racist person

Chicago Classic

By wallace014_12 |

It is worth going as an experience I climbed at night but it is better in the day x what I imagine. It's a classic if you visit Chicago.

By Julie C |

The views were spectacular. We went early and had no wait. Spent as much time as we wanted in the sky deck up top. The museum you walk through to get to the elevator is one of the best as well. Highly recommend as a must do in Chicago. The staff were also so friendly and accommodating.

Worst customer service

By chicagosvetlanas |

Dear Skydeck Chicago Team,

I recently visited the Skydeck and wanted to share some feedback. While the overall experience and the views were truly impressive and memorable, I was disappointed by the level of customer service I received during my visit.

Unfortunately, the staff I interacted with were not helpful or welcoming, which took away from what could have been a perfect experience. I believe customer service plays a huge role in how guests remember their visit, especially in such a world-renowned location.

I hope this message helps improve future guest experiences, as the Skydeck itself is absolutely worth visiting.

Go on a slow day and enjoy the views

By Kristy D |

Nice experience. We went on a very slow day, it was not crowded at all, which certainly made the day more pleasant. You could tell by the ropes set up that it does get very crowded at times and this review would probably be very different if that had been the case. you get 90 seconds on the ledge, but can queue up as many times as you like. There are some basic but fun displays set up to look at and take photos with on the way to the elevators. It's a one time thing but worth doing. there is very convenient parking right across the street from the Willis tower.

By cmpjddr |

The weather wasn’t good, it was clear, but the time allowed encouraged us to ascend as soon as possible to the top. We were even helped to take our tickets, 164 euros for 4... and we could contemplate a beautiful cloud puree without seeing the shadow of a tower nearby at more than 413 meters... in short 164 euros thrown out of the window if I may say... without warning or even Trip Tip from those who “help” you: we probably call it business at Uncle Sat but here we call it f... the mouth of the world....

worth the cost

By Robert Camper |

I went with my family to Chicago, this was on the "recommended" list I found. The Willis tower, formerly known as Sears tower, is visible from all over the city. It seems like one of those "can not miss" attractions. And the view was incredible. There is a little glass outcropping you stand in, so you can look 180 degrees, and straight down. There are regular windows on all sides of the building, so you can look out all around, but only a few "booths" where you can also look straight down.

Like so many attractions today, they are "pushy" with their picture sales. You start at the ground floor, at your assigned time, and there are some displays to look at as you wait for the elevator. Then you are quickly brought up to the observation floor. You get in a line to wait for an open booth, wait was not long, but your family has "use" of that booth for up to 5 minutes (I think they said please move on after 5 minutes), it was enough time. Immediately you are told to stand against the outside wall and look up, flash, a camera takes your picture. And of course when you get back to the ground floor, your photos are printed and ready for you to buy. From an environmental standpoint, I really wish that they had your picture on a screen and you could say "yes or no" rather than putting out the printed pictures in front of you to buy, or throw out. And after the cost of tickets, cost of parking (or public transportation) to get there, pictures are just one more expense.

So certainly is a great attraction, should be on your "must do" list when you visit Chicago, they just lost one star for the "pushiness" of shoving printed pictures at you as soon as you get back to the ground level.

Not Worth the Price

By Gerta |

I don’t think it’s worth the money. In my opinion, you can skip it altogether. There was a long queue just to take a photo, and you’re only allowed 90 seconds alone for the picture. Plus, they tell you that in one corner you’ll be by yourself, but in the other you have to share the space with other visitors.
For me, save your money and enjoy the view comfortably from a rooftop restaurant or bar ,no waiting, no time limits, just relaxation.

Must in Chicago

By Daniel K |

Everything good . interesting entry and nice views above city. I recommend go there 1h before sunset and stay for couple hours so you can do pictures at day and night.

Beautiful view of Chicago

By marcoaureliobertoli |

The view from the Skydeck is very beautiful - you can practically see the entire city of Chicago. The feeling of stepping on the glass makes the visit more exciting. It's worth going in the late afternoon to see the sunset and early dusk.

Great view

By Edwin H |

The view is really great up there, and it is nice to learn about the (sometimes quite literal) rise of chicago whil on your way to the skydeck. So it is more than just a view. It is rather expensive though

Must do

By Gaetano P |

If you're in Chicago you can't miss the Willis Towers where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the city. Recommended.

Unusual experience

By Jen R |

My husband and I had a fun experience visiting the top of the Willis Tower. The views are almost as good as the people watching! There are fun interactive displays on the way to the elevator with selfie stations with major landmarks, which was a cool bonus. At the top, you get 60 seconds or so to sit in suspended glass cubicles. Not something you get to do everyday! And the restaurants at the bottom are great - try the Rick Bayliss restaurant Tortazo - the mushroom tacos were the perfect finish to an unusual morning.

It is the third-tallest building in North America after One World Trade Center and Central Park Tower

By sanju_222323 |

More than 1.7 million people make their way to Willis Tower's Skydeck Chicago each year, and it's easy to see why. (I have been to both Skydeck and 60 Chicago and I guess, I will choose this).

Occupying the 103rd floor – (that's nine floors higher than 360 CHICAGO) of the 110-story Willis Tower, Skydeck Chicago boasts breathtaking views of the city
It is the third-tallest building in North America after One World Trade Center and Central Park Tower and is home to the highest public viewing area in the United States. cool!

Long lines quickly form for Skydeck Chicago, so plan on arriving early or purchasing a Chicago City PASS, which covers expedited admission into the attraction. If you'd like to enjoy the sunset from the tower, plan on arriving 30 to 45 minutes before sunset to ensure you have enough time to get through the elevator line and up to the top.

Coming to "The Ledge"

Queue: I suggest going there as early as possible. I bought the 10 AM slot and straight away we hit for ledge, not many people in the line and we got 90 secs to experience it. after that, we were exploring the city, Lake View, and spent around 30 minutes. wife suggested, can we go again one more time (yes, we went to the ledge 3 times) - but it was too crowded, and they were accommodating 2 couples in one ledge.
45 secs - one couple at one side and then switch for the next 45 seconds. They keep a timer and will be rude sometimes if you don't follow the rules.

some facts: The Ledge’s glass boxes extend out 4.3 feet from the Skydeck on the 103rd floor. Each box weighs 7,500 lbs. and is comprised of three layers of half-inch thick glass and is built to withstand five tons of pressure and can hold 10,000 lbs.!

I found it cooler than TILT. in tile, you can’t carry a camera for safety reasons and your friends/relatives can’t take pics. they are outside the room. here in Ledge, I can go banana and do anything.

Immersive history & great views—just mind the wait and photo costs!

By Bartlett Fin |

Fascinating, immersive history tour with vivid visuals and a photo-worthy ledge—but long waits due to groups overstaying their 90 seconds, and $32 for a single staff-taken photo is steep. Still, a memorable experience overall!

Great View!

By CharlieinTexas |

Worthwhile stop while in Chicago. Nice exhibit before you get to the elevator to take you to the observation deck, which was very worthwhile, although fairly pricey. I would hate to come on a really busy day and wait in line for an hour or more, but it was pretty easy access for us on this day. Very enjoyable to do on a nice day where you can see things at a distance.

An amazing experience!

By JustAAdventurer |

We went with our family that is visiting. It was amazing! Not only the top, but the museum at the bottom, too. Definitely lots to see on a clear day, highly recommended and a must-do. Can be pricy however, as you add more people.

Great view and nice experience

By Girish D |

Great view of Chicago skyline. The museum is interesting & well visualised. The ledge has great view and exciting. You get only 90 seconds at the ledge after long queue but enjoyed the experience. Pricy place to get into however great experience.

By Linda K |

Wow, we had no idea what a great exhibit this was when we took our 10 year old grandson. It starts in the basement with a fascinating history of Chicago as well as what Chicago is famous for. Our grandson enjoyed all the displays and info before we even went up the elevator to the skydeck. And that in itself is amazing. Beautiful views and the sky box was so fun!

By Cathy B |

This was the absolute best stop of the day!! Looking out you can actually see the curvature of the planet. It is breathtaking and a must see if ever in Chicago!!

Stunning views and a special experience

By gerobrienscn |

We loved the Ledge Experience at Skydeck. We were torn between Tilt 360 and Skydeck and chose the Skydeck after sailing past Willis/Sears Tower on the architecture cruise.
I would highly recommend this experience. We booked an early morning slot - 9am. This was a quiet time and we headed straight to the Skydeck without delay. You can walk around the entire floor at your leisure. This allowed plenty of time to enjoy the views from all perspectives and plenty of time to take photos. I’d imagine you get better views of the city from this experience over the Tilt 360. Having time to spend on floor 103 also really helped to get used to the height and scale and build up the confidence before heading to the ledge!
We progressed through the queue to the ledge very quickly. Each stay on the ledge is limited to 3 mins (I think) and this kept things moving well. The staff were very pleasant and encouraging. It’s nerve racking stepping out but staff were great and we got brilliant photos. I would recommend buying the photos from the Skydeck team. The angle of the camera on the ledge gives a great view of the city and the streets below your feet. We paid 30 dollars for 6 photos.
A super experience and definitely worth doing if you are in Chicago. Even if you are nervous, book it, spend time exploring the 103rd floor and enjoy the views from there and decide about the ledge when you are up there!

Overselling times entry

By Deborah N |

Don't let the timed entry fool you. They oversell them so that you still have to wait in line for 90 minutes. It is NOT worth the wait.

Terrible experience

By Orlando A |

Looks like they sell tickets without considering their guest. I bought tickets in advance for a Saturday at 5pm. Got in at 4:30. The line for the elevator to go up was over 45 minutes. Once got to the top, another long line for the glass decks. And then, more than ½ hour wait to catch the down elevator. Which they cramp more than 20 people inside like sardines. I spoke to supervisor and he apologize and just offer tickets for next day (Sunday). I've been to NYC Freedom Tower and Empire Estate few times and never had an issue like that.
Very, very dissapointed.

A must stop in Chicago

By maifun |

I don't love heights but went on this anyway with family. It was honestly not as anxiety inducing as I worried it might be. The elevator up is a trip, in the very quick minute or two it takes you to go up that high (while your ears are popping) there are graphics showing you how you've now passed the height of other several famous tall landmarks. Once the door opens and you're out on the observation floor, it's not really all that scary. No more so than sitting in the window seat of a plane and looking out and down, and here you get to take your time and there are lots of signs and guides to show you what you're looking at. It's actually very cool to see the city from this viewpoint. I'm an 80's girl but I hadn't known that this was the building where they filmed the scene from Ferris Bueller where Ferris and Sloane stand and lean up against the glass looking out over the city... here they have a sign up on that corner of the building and little footprints on the floor so you can re-create it for yourself :) There are lines of people to take their turn in the actual ledge boxes; if you pay extra for priority you can bypass the lines and get in whenever you are ready, but once you're there they time you for about 2 minutes I think? And they'll take one pro shot of you that you can buy later, but you get the rest of the few minutes to take your own shots in the glass box. Altogether a fun experience, if only to just be that high up!

By Dave & Steph |

Great view of the city from over 400m down. The glass boxes are of course the highlight and we had plenty of time for our own photos. We also bought one of the photos taken by the company, they are really good! We would put the Skydeck on a par with the John Hancock Tower. If you have the chance, visit both!

beautiful sights clear, glass box hovers

By Themillionaction |

I have visited Skydeck Chicago, it has the best view of the whole city with glass windows. Skydeck building has 103 floor which is very tall. It has an amazing sights. Any one wants to eat there are restaurant and shopping stores in the building. There is a ticket to purchase in order to pass to the 103 floor. Any one who wants the city, i would recommend here to visit.

By Conny G |

The best views in the entire city. We went at 9:30 in the morning and it seemed like a very comfortable time since at that time there are not so many people, you can explore the entire observation floor without crowding problems. At that time you don't need to wait so long in line to get on the elevator, or to take the famous photo in the glass-floored painting. A highly recommended visit.

I was in Chicago for business when I visited the Willis Tower. I really liked the museum and the views at the top where really amazing.

You Can See It All

By Cameron C |

The views were amazing and you can see to the edge of the horizon, but the price was a bit high for the experience. As you approach the elevator that takes you to the Skydeck there are immersive sections throughout the lower floors that detail out heritage and events throughout Chicago's history. It is a fun way to make the walk a bit more interesting. Once you reach the Skydeck you do have 90 seconds (a timer is set when you walk out) to look at the view below you and take pictures. It was a fun time to say you've done it, but there is no reason to visit a second time, unless you want to see the city lit up at night.

By Michael G |

Although a bit pricey, this tour was well worth it. The museum was colorful and informative, but the cherry on top was the 103rd floor and it’s majestic views!

Slick and Sensational

By OldWulf |

Having done New York's Empire State and Top of the Rock, I was impressed with Chicago's Willis Tower effort. The display of Chicago's history, the very smooth and modern elevator, the organisation of the queues on the 103rd floor.... all very good. The whole experience was slick and the view from the top is sensational.

By Johannes |

The skydeck has also a small exhibition in the entrance area worth seeing.
I visited the skydeck on a weekday afternoon and no reservation was required. Cool!
From above, the view was amazing (Yes, there were no clouds on the day). The glass cubes on one side of the attraction are probably very unique.but it takes a lot of courage to walk across the glass floor! Ideal way to push one’s boundaries ahead ;-). There is constant music played at a not low volume. The songs are well selected and I found a new favourite band I’ve would never come across on Spotify.

One tip to the operator: Please let your visitors know that the Willis Tower isn’t the highest skyscraper in the US anymore.

Should be booked in combination with a Chicago Pass from GoCity!

By William Kim |

If you're tight on time and are looking to choose between going up the John Hancock Center or the Sears Tower, I would definitely choose the Sears Tower. (Yes, people, it's the SEARS TOWER. Don't make my ears bleed by calling this place the Willis Tower.)

Now, don't get me wrong, both towers are great, and you won't leave feeling disappointed at either one, but Sears Tower wins for me, and the biggest reason why is the interactive exhibits the Sears Tower has for people while waiting in line. While the John Hancock Center does have posters showcasing the history of the tower and the city, it does not have the interactive exhibits I'm about to mention, so when waiting in line, it can get pretty boring. For example, you will be able to sit inside a clone of a Chicago subway and feel as if you're on an actual one, or you might be able to see a mini replica of Downtown Chicago. There's also several photo ops along the way. (And for those who may be sensitive to flashing lights or feel uncomfortable from the constantly changing screens, there are doors available for you to skip the exhibits.). And the views are simply jaw-dropping amazing, especially at night. I recommend coming here at night so you can truly enjoy Chicago from above with all its lights.

Make sure to also check out the Ledge when here - you'll stand on top of a glass floor 103 floors(!) above Chicago. If you're scared of heights, beware! Do note, however, the staff will limit you and your party to 90 seconds to ensure everyone has a fair opportunity of enjoying the Ledge (but you can line up to enjoy the Ledge as much as possible).

This place may be a tourist trap, but it's one of those places you can't miss when in Chicago. So, what are you waiting for?

Great views of Chicago and amazing photos!

By Cosmic Sand Travels |

Great experience. The staff was nice and welcoming. Stepping into the ledge for the first time was a little scary but you get comfortable quickly. Once it’s your turn, you have exactly 1 min to take pics so think ahead what poses you want and be ready. You can go back in line as many times as you want if you have time and patience to do the line again.
We took lots of great photos! Highly recommended especially if it’s your first time in Chicago.

Lovely views and museum type but yo start with

By Zoe H |

I didn't realise there was a small museum section to walk through first which was really nice. The views from the top were amazing.

Stunning Views but The Ledge feels a little rushed

By Elias |

We had a great time visiting the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) in downtown Chicago. As the highest observation deck in the city, it offers breathtaking views in all four directions. Thanks to our Chicago CityPass, we enjoyed expedited entry, which was a huge plus since both the ground-level line and the wait for The Ledge seemed quite long.

While The Ledge is considered the highlight, we found ourselves more captivated by the experience of watching the city transition from daylight to the beautifully illuminated nighttime skyline. The 90-second limit per group on The Ledge felt a bit rushed, though still thrilling and absolutely worth doing, a more relaxed attitude really lets you soak in the views.

If you're debating between the Willis Tower and the John Hancock 360 Skydeck, we've visited both and found them equally impressive. Both offer a 360 degrees view over the city so you can’t really go wrong with either. If you’re using the CityPass, we’d recommend sticking with the Willis Tower, as visiting both observation decks might not be necessary unless you have extra time to spare (the John Hancock center is also included in the CityPass, but as an optional activity as opposed to the Willis Tower which is non-optional).

By Stefan B |

We visited the ledge together with our 10-year-old boy.

Well Summit in NYC top, nearby the WillisTower including the ledge experience.

We did it ☺️

By Travel_by_S |

Beautiful views of Chicago. Walking out in the glass box is an experience, but if you are scared of heights, the views ares still great if you don't want to walk out on the ledge. It's a must do when visiting Chicago.

Amazing Views

By Potomac_11 |

Skydeck at Willis Tower is a must for any first (or second) visitor to Chicago. Beautifully set up for awesome views of the city.

Great experience despite the limited visibility!

By Gill r |

We went up the tower in a rain storm so no visibility. We were offered the chance to amend to a different time of the day or date but that didn’t work for us. Despite this, we had a great time doing the history walking tour even if the views were non existent at the top. Staff were helpful.

By Ashley D |

By far one of the coolest places to visit. The elevator is super fast and the view from uptop is breathtaking. So many cool views. Well worth the money.

must-see sights!

By Fatima L |

this is a tourist must see attraction. 103 floors and skydeck is 90 seconds. you get pictures which you can purchase at the end. gift shop is nice too. the entire building has food and tables to relax. I bought general admission timed tickets and was fairly empty when I went on a Friday at 11am.

Stunning views

By Laurence P |

Very high and stunning views.
One of the better viewing platforms we had in America.
The information at the start gives all teh history you need to know.

Great night views

By ProfHannah |

We purchases our tickets ahead of time...just in case but there seemed to be plenty of spots open when we arrived at our designated time. The museum they wind you through is very interesting and we enjoyed the interactivity of it. We did have a later time and the food court locations were closed already so be mindful if that is where you are planning on eating. You recieve a QR code at the beginning that they use for your "official" photo. You get a single group photo but can requeue and take your own - which we did. It took me a few times to make it on the ledge - back in if you are nervous. Back in and keep your eyes straight ahea. It was fantastic at night.

Lovebirds’ on The Ledge

By Wandering Lovebirds |

My wife and I visited the Willis Tower on a Monday midday and opted for the Skydeck Expedited Entry. This was an excellent choice as it offered the fastest path to the Skydeck elevators and The Ledge, and we didn't have to wait at all. The express lines were well-organized, and we were able to select our date, time, and ticket in advance, which I highly recommend doing as spaces are limited per 30-minute period.

The views from the Skydeck were absolutely breathtaking, and stepping out onto The Ledge was a thrilling experience. Despite being terrified, my wife was a good sport and managed to enjoy the unique perspective of the city.

The only downside of our visit was the photo taken by their crew. It didn't turn out well, so we decided not to purchase it. For $55 per person, the overall experience was worth it, but the photo quality was disappointing.

Pros:

No wait time with expedited entry
Amazing views from the Skydeck
Thrilling experience on The Ledge
Cons:

Poor quality of the photo taken by the crew

Overall, we had a fantastic time and would recommend the Skydeck Expedited Entry for anyone looking to make the most of their visit to Willis Tower. Be sure to check out the museum on your way out!

By TheTravelingBoyMama |

Go first thing in the morning to avoid the large crowds later in the day. If you buy the CityPass that includes 5 attractions, this is one of them, and it lets you cut to the front of the line. Several people in front of us were upset because they had the CityPass with 3 attractions, and it did not let them cut to the front of the line. Employees were friendly and helpful. The views of the city were breathtaking. You have a time limit to enjoy the ledge, but you are allowed to enjoy looking out the other windows as long as you want. I’d love to visit this attraction during different times of the day. I bet it’s stunning.

By Madison R |

For $46 per person, I was expecting more. Yes, the little museum is cute, but it would’ve been nicer to do after - most people rushed through in order to get up to the deck. I loved that they took our picture twice, we got to the end, had them all nice and printed out prior to our arrival… only for it to COST $35-45 EXTRA FOR TWO PHOTOS?!!! Why have them already printed out… just to charge an arm and a leg? Please don’t spend $100 on this basic experience. Just go up a different tall building for free.

Chicago memorable must tours while in downtown Chicago.

By Craig S |

My wife and I would give the Willis Tower Skydeck tour a 10+, a must see for anyone visiting Chicago. The views from top of the tower (103 floors) were spectacular.

Exciting and Informative, but Not for the Faint of Heart

By Makar D |

The experience was fantastic, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone with a true fear of heights. The museum before the elevator ride was a lot of fun, offering unique photo opportunities and plenty of fascinating facts about Chicago’s history.

Disappointed.

By Celina B |

The view was very nice. The time on the deck was unfortunately hard to enjoy as we only had a maximum of two minutes. After we had overcome ourselves to go on the deck and take some pictures, the time was over again. Unfortunately very sad as we were looking forward to it in particular. Recommended for a stopover, but we would not schedule an evening for it anymore - especially not for the price.

AMAZING!

By kasey l |

Awesome, 100% worth every penny!!! Memories made to last a lifetime ! My kids loved it and we took so many pictures ! Can’t wait to do it again!

By Leann L |

For me this was mediocre at best. We had admission included in our CityPass or I don’t know that we would have spent the money to do this separately. I will say the CityPass afforded us expedited entry which was nice. If I had to wait in long lines to do this I wouldn’t have waited. Views were neat and the glass ledge definitely put perspective on how high we were but overall it just felt lackluster to me.

By Jeremy |

Great experience! Highly recommended to book around sunset. Beautiful views and the pictures end up looking amazing!

Great for views of the city

By BellaGirl2011 |

My third time to visit with a family member. This time my 12 year old grandson. He enjoyed getting his photo taken on the ledges, with all the views behind him, and leaving his mark on the wall set aside for that purpose. If you don’t like heights, go and avoid the ledges. A nice way to see the city lights after dark. Maps tell you where you are while walking the tower.

A must visit

By Gabo G |

City is awesome on this time of the year, good food, clean, and the weather is very good for July (temperature was in the 80's). Always be aware of where are you going, not everywhere is safe. Was a great experience!

Recommended for eat: Slurp Slurp in Chinatown, Giordano's, Café Cubano in Oak Park, Johnies fornitalian beef sandwich and ton of ice cream places.

By plfdakar |

To fully experience Chicago at a glance, this visit to the Skydeck is a must. On glass 420m above the ground vertigo guaranteed but UNFORGETTABLE

By AdventureMN95 |

Willis tower was a lot of fun, little pricey since it was a weekend and a holiday. The view were spectacular an amazing 360 of downtown Chicago. Before getting to the top there is a very fun interactive museum with the highlight of Chicago. The Willis Tower is also very good about keeping the lines moving for be walk out and they set up a timer so you don’t have to worry.

By Delatorrellc |

The sky deck above the Willis tower offers spectacular views of the city and if you do your research you'll find that from floor to rooftop it is the tallest in the Western Hemisphere above the World Trade Center or the Hancock 360. Just try to avoid going on a weekend or holiday were
The crowds are large. It took us 2.5 hours to get to the top and once there there are lines to take pictures in the skyboxes. It's great to see the city from such a height but if you've done the Rockefeller, the Hancock or the World Trade Center you can bypass this if your time in the city is short..

By Kelly |

This is a fun way to get a different view of Chicago. We enjoyed the museum as well as the spectacular views from the Sky Deck.

Long lines, not worth the wait and $$

By donih |

We purchased tickets at the kiosk for an 8:30 appointment for the sky deck. It was my misunderstanding that there was not a bar up there, so that is on me. However, we waited in lines like Disney World until after 9:30 as they routed us back and forth through the “museum” of sorts they called it. I think perhaps we should have gotten expedited tickets to avoid some of this, but it cost $144 for 3 of us to go to the sky deck. After spending over an hour in line, we reached the top where they said it would be another 45 minutes to actually get out on the sky deck. We had been in line so long and were so over it by then, we just looked out the windows and looked at the view of the city which was pretty but definitely not worth the cost to just see it out the windows with what seemed like a hundred other people vying for a spot to see out the window. It was absolutely horrible. We did not wait. If the view wasn’t somewhat pretty, I would have given this one star. Save your money. Take a architectural boat ride instead and get a great view of the city from the water.

By AlexanderD |

I enjoyed my trip up to the 103rd floor for the views. I also liked the museum you pass through on the way. I didn’t need to go out on the ledge because I don’t like heights.

By Kelly C |

Our family really enjoyed the Ledge and the Skydeck. We highly recommend spending the extra money for the express pass. Worth every penny, my husband and I commented several times how happy we were to be able to skip the long lines, especially to get onto the Ledge.

Amazing - a must visit!

By LaurenSCO |

We visited at 9am on a Wednesday, it was quite quiet and we got up to the 103rd floor very quickly!
We had expedited entry which I would recommend. The staff were all lovely! So friendly and helpful. There was no wait for the ledge and the staff allowed us to spend as much time there as we wanted! We were not rushed at all.
The views are amazing and the whole experience is worth every penny! Would highly recommend if in Chicago!

Great view but seemed little pricey.

By LE |

Great view from 103 floor. People were all nice. Easy to get tickets from kiosk. Think price was a little high. Maybe needs to offer senior discount and overall lower prices.

By Jérémy P |

What to do if you go to Chicago. The view is top and the experience above the void is nice with possibility to make beautiful souvenir photos!

By andreaesposito1990 |

What a view! The skydeck is impressive, if you go to Chicago you can not skip the visit to the Willis Tower. To do absolutely

By Joanna |

Weather was rainy so very low visibility. They ensured we were aware, including live video, before we agreed to go up. We were offered rescheduling but was our last day in Chicago. Glad we did because it wasn’t packed and short wait for the sky box so we were able to go in multiple times. The clouds opened up for us each time so we got some views and pics. Think it would be scarier during clear skies.

It was simply fantastic! I can only recommend it to everyone!

By This W |

It was a wonderful experience. Besides the view, the very intimate setting is particularly noteworthy. There were only five smal groups, and we had the entire 103rd floor to ourselves. Simply magnificent and worth every penny.

By Rosaria A |

A breathtaking experience that I would repeat also because the organization was impeccable. Not recommended for those who, of course, suffer from dizziness. Before getting to the “glass box”, from which you can take beautiful photographs, there are steps in which you can take funny photographs, for example with Oprah, With the famous Deep pizza is much more. Along the way they also ask you to take pictures, in all there are four that we picked up at the outgoing desktop for the modest amount of 45 €, this is a bit exaggerated.

A MUST SEE!!!!

By Joelle A |

WHAT A TREAT!! Amazing views, the TILT was epic!!! THIS IS A MUST!!!! THE views are breathtaking! Relax, enjoy drinks at the bar, learn about the City and see the beautiful views!!!

I didn't love it

By KARLA GIL DE P |

The cost of going 90 seconds to take your photo is very high, I think what they want is for you to buy the one they take of you, but it is a very high cost

Amazing!

By Arielle |

The Skydeck Chicago experience was super cool! I was very scared since I am afraid of heights, but I still went up. My friend got into the little glass box, and I took pictures of her. It's so cool knowing that it is only 1.5 inches thick. And, it's a great view of the entire city.

Plan for a wait to get in the actual glass boxes

By Jeffrey B |

This isn't an inexpensive attraction but the views are truly outstanding, especially on a day with weather good enough that you can see to the horizon. I'd budget about 90 minutes - the displays you walk through to get to the elevator don't take that long but seemed interesting (we were short on time so kinda had to rush this part). Views are outstanding - wish we'd had more time to enjoy. There will be a line to get your 90 seconds (which is long enough for most) in the glass boxes, which are clearly the highlight, though you can repeat the line and your 90 seconds as you see fit.

Great Views of the City

By Steven K |

The views were really spectacular, and it it wasn't too crowded. The price seems comparable to other similar skyscrapers. I think it's probably worth it to go to the top of at least one building like this at some point, and additionally if you have some particular familiarity and interest in a city that has one. I don't know that you need to go to the top of every one.

You can see way out onto Lake Michigan, as well as several landmarks in the city and the highways.

Stepping onto the ledge is a little bit of a rush, but it's ultimately not that different from looking out the window. I couldn't imagine anyone actually paying (I think it was $40?) for a photo package from the ledge. The people downstairs didn't even seem to seriously expect anyone to get them.

By Gest |

Years ago there were no cubes. At 5 am fairly quiet at the elevator and in a short time to 103. View is fantastic. At the south side large crowds and virtually no possibility to get in between.

Do It! You won’t be disappointed

By Kabreesha M |

Skydeck was awesome. We paid for the expedited entry and didn’t have to wait in the long lines to take out pics inside the glass. Would definitely do it again.
They give you the option to purchase souvenirs in the store as well as a picture or two that was taken during your visit. Great experience.

Overrated - Dirty windows, unfriendly stuff, not enough time for photos

By Andreea S |

The museum before the elevator was very nice, but about the 103th level I was expecting something more.
The windows were very dirty considering that on that day didn’t rain. You have maximum 90 seconds to take photos on the Plexiglass and everyone is looking at you.
From the google photos i was expecting something similar as Summit in New York

By Shantamr36 |

We had the best time. We learned so much about Chicagos history before we entered the SkyDeck.
The views are amazing. It’s best to go in the evening. You can literally see Chicago, the river, as well as the deck.
The cost was $40.00 pp. Simply Amazing!!!!!!!

Sky deck at Willis( Sears) Tower

By Terry L |

Be ready for waiting in a few lines, but it’s worth the view and experience. Before ascending the elevator you have an architectural and icon overview of the city. Once on top…. We’ll on the 103rd floor, take in all the angles at your leisure, then ponder what poses you want to do in the glass ledge. Don’t be annoyed with all the photographers at least there’s no pressure to view your pix when you exit.
This tower is different from the 360 experience which is the Hancock Tower. I was confused as to which is which or if they were the same attraction

A true highlight

By Liam Murphy |

A true highlight of our trip to the Windy City, if a little daunting!

We thoroughly enjoyed heading to the Skydeck at Willis/Sears tower. The views area amazing. Just back far enough from the lake to have a real 360 panorama and to stand in the spot made famous by Ferris Bueler was awesome.

what can I say about the skydeck? the queue moves fast and you can queue as many times as you like. I dislkie heights and to be honest this spooked me but I was thrilled that I breaved it and even knelt down for a photo! Worth getting the tour photo also. A top highlight of our stay.

Overpriced

By Mark G |

The views of Chicago from a height of almost 1500 feet really are breathtaking, but $45 for this is really outrageous. You really are paying just for an elevator up and back down again.

Most tourists seem to come only for the gimmicky "Ledge", which is a set of small glass platforms upon which you can stay for 1-2 minutes for photo opportunities. This really doesn't justify the rip-off price.

Book Ahead of Time

By Christy R |

Enjoyed this, book ahead of time if you can. Cost.over $100 for two adults but we had to pay about $15 more per ticket for expedited tickets so that we could make our next adventure. The expedited tickets were still about an hour and a half from when we bought them but we didn’t have to wait in the long elevator line nor in the line to go out on the sky deck. You only get 90 seconds on the sky deck so be prepared, the sign says you can wait in line to go again if you want. Also, there are restaurants in the building while you wait. I’m glad we did this but we were there on a clear day and you really can’t see the four states that they claim you can see.

By TL*Gulley |

What a cool view of the city! This attraction was more than just looing out of a window. We purchased tickets online to save a few dollars. Once you get your tickets it's like you go through a maze of attractions that tell you about the city & there are several spots to take photos. I wish we would have had more time, to take it all in so go when you have time to take it all in. We arrived for the 10;30 am slot on a Thursday & it was still packed. When you finally reach the spot you stand in line and are pointed to a spot where the employee takes a pic & you are given time to take some pics. The views were awesome & we got some nice pics. Admission is kind of of pricey but it's just one of those tourist things you do.

Spectacular views of the city

By Elizabeth |

This had some interesting Chicago history tidbits before we even rode up in the elevator to the observation deck. At the top, there was a spectacular view of the city from all directions and a chance to sit out on the glass viewing platform. The tickets are timed so you can't stay too long, but it was sufficient for viewing and picture taking.

Great.

By Augusto |

Beautiful, I did it in winter despite the cold the view was clear and breathtaking. 100 times better than the 360 observatory.

By M C |

We visited Skydeck first time in many years with Family from Europe and was very nicely surprised by great changes implemented on our way to Skydeck. We all loved displays of Chicago attractions/neighborhoods/foods, which made our walk on the way to the elevators much more fun. In addition, we came before our alloted time, but ticketing agent was very nice and changed our time so we did not have to wait long. Get ready to take pictures quickly, because once you will get to Skydeck you will have 90 minutes, but everyone working there is ver helpful and will make your experience great.

By Nisy19 |

Me and my partner went to the skydeck on our visit to Chicago. He is scared of heights but took one for the team. It's nice! There's a museum before you got to the deck, and it was hard taking pictures as people were taking forever taking pictures. It's worth it. You have 90 seconds to take your pics. ✔️ of the bucket list.

By Brie C |

Don’t make this reservation through trip advisor only bc the weather is iffy and you can change the time. We arrived at the sky deck and it was so overcast you couldn’t see anything. This is the first time I planned through trip advisor and I won’t do it again. I would wait until you get to Chicago bc you can always go and get your ticket last minute when the weather is nice.

By Mauricio S |

The place is quite high and you have a great idea of the city.
The glass spaces are great for photo.
You have to have the courage to step in there.

By Melabaffi |

It’s a must-see Attraction, I love skyscrapers and I’ve climbed everywhere I’ve never been so excited. Already outside the elevators you can take some nice shots but when you finally set foot on the glass balcony your heart really feels in your throat. You do the first step slowly because the fear of falling into the void I think is spontaneous then the euphoria takes over, the amazement. The skyscraper was the tallest in America for several years then the New York skyscrapers arrived but still remains a considerable height able to give visitors wonderful shots and emotions. Not to be missed. I booked it before leaving because there is a risk of not being able to get tickets

a Chicago highlight

By Leah S |

Highly recommend going to the skydeck if you are in Chicago! The views are amazing and stepping out on to the ledge was so cool. We booked our tickets for 9:30 and we were a little afraid that we wouldn't make it on time because it said to arrive 15 minutes early, but we found that wasn't a problem at all. They still took our tickets even though we arrived a little late. There is a nice small museum area that talks about Chicago and the willis tower history that you can walk through before you get to the skydeck. The skydeck was pretty crowded, but I feel that the staff did a great job trying to accomodate for that. You only get 90 seconds in the the deck, so be prepared for the pose you want for pictures! I like how you were able to get back in line after you go through to get on the ledge also.

Amazing view of Chicago! You can see the city in every direction. Easy to get to from the CTA. A really good donut shop in Willis Tower. My son loved their chicken sandwich.

Worth the time and expense - FANTASTIC

By ABACUSES |

What a pleasant surprise for a tourist money grab. It really was a lot more than that; I promise. I honestly expected a ride to the top, quick view, and then back down. It was that, but a whole lot more in between. It was more of a museum than anything else. Great history of the building but also of other spots around town, the city's history ... I learned a lot of neat stuff. Plenty of great photo opportunities. This attraction is fantastic for ANY age visitor to the Windy City.

By Maggie Moreno |

The views that this location has overlooking Chicago are amazing!
A must do while in town, but if you are afraid of heights, I recommend you stay a short distance away from the windows!

A Must-Do!

By Sarah F |

Wow! What a FANTASTIC way to see the city! We went for a night view and it did not disappoint! I’d like to go back to catch the view in daylight.

go for the view! don't buy into the extras

By msgirl79 |

The view is incredible. But that is where it ends. The drinks were awful-like a watery cruise line drink. The tilt was just anti climactic. Go up for the view. Don't add the extras. Def. not worth it.

Re-Visited After 30 Years

By CaledoniaFam |

It had been more than 30 years since my last visit to the Sears/Willis Tower. Although the price of admission is considerable ($35) and finding parking is a bit of an adventure, the visit to the Willis Tower was a very worthwhile stop. I had distant memories of only being allowed on the 103rd floor's viewing area for a limited amount of time (perhaps 30 minutes?) but there is absolutely no time limit now...we were in the viewing area for a good 90 minutes+. A bit of a sense of Chicago geography is helpful, but the views were great and our group of 2 adults and 7 teens had a great time.

By Andy P |

We had the city pass so had expedited entry which was very handy as we went straight through, both at the queue for the lift and at the sky ledge. It would be better if they had additional seating up at the top. The ledge is spectacular and the photos are great from it.

By Peter B |

Booked through Tripadvisor and that was a good thing, there it is full. Down to the basement, nice story about Chikago and then with schellest lift ever up. Nice walk, lucky with the weather and then out on the platform. You have 90 seconds, but you can line up again, can take time. Photo is also available, depending on the number between 35 and 45 dollars. It was worth it.

Great view, small crowd

By Sabs |

Really expensive but a great experience. October was great because there were not that many people as we imagine would have been there in the summer time. We went at sunset and it was a great view

not to be missed

By Stefano M |

It is advisable to book the visit in advance, as it is always crowded.
Very strict entry controls.
View nothing short of spectacular at over 400 meters high.
Possibility to take pictures on the two glass blocks outdoors

amazing experience

By Eugine K |

It amazing experience for us. looking out from Skyscraper incredible with glass floors. It has cool city day time. We love it and recommend it when you visit windy city

By Vacation19111 |

This is well worth it! You can see all of Chicago high-rises is pretty cool. The employee took our pictures. They turned out awesome. We had time to take our own pictures too.

Thrilling sky-high views

By Frazer H |

A definite must-do in Chicago. The thrill of the glass ledge at over 100 stories and the multi-state views on a clear day are unforgettable.

By Martina Tili |

Skyscraper that on the 103rd floor offers you the skydeck experience that are transparent balconies where you can observe the Chicago skyline.
Very interesting is the path that traces the history of the construction of the skyscraper.

Skydeck experience was wonderful. We booked 7:15 pm slot so we did day and night both the pics during sunset time. It was crowded but again and again you can go in the line. You will get 90 second time to click the pics at the ledge. Crew was little rude and not helpful. But we managed to click beautiful pics. Washrooms are available upstairs. Must do experience when you are in Chicago.

Yes, By all means - Do It

By GBoseman |

On a short Mother- Daughter (Young Adult) trip to Chicago for Memorial Day week-end – a city we had never visited, included a must see visit to the Willis Sky Deck. It was just before it began to rain heavily that Sunday – however we arrived early and there we no lines, so we were able to leisurely view the exhibits – which were interesting, informative, engaging and interactive ( I loved the simulated subway (the L)) - good for a lot of picture taking and the guides and assistants are generous to take pictures and give information - we were early so visiting moved well but it started to pick up with more people- we finally get to the deck and the views are breathtaking = and then on to the Overview Deck which is very organized - the assistant places you in a Kiosk where s/he takes a professional picture and the leaves you for a timed 90 seconds to take your personal pictures- the entire visit takes about one and one-half hours to two hours – the gift shops are nice and this tower was one of the highlights of the Chicago trip – not to be missed and I highly recommend.

By Freedom468957 |

It was a great experience and we got wonderful pictures from the sky deck!! There was also a section that had very interesting information about Chicago. We had a great afternoon!

Fantastic museum and ledge experience!

By Patricia M |

We visited Willis Tower on a weekday in October and there were very few visitors. We had no wait. The museum was fantastic. Several times staff members offered to take pictures of us on our phone, including on the ledge. The ledge was an incredible experience!

Willis Tower and The Ledge a super experience

By GabrielaSeevetal |

Willis Tower has 110 floors and a height of 442 m. The tip of the antenna reaches a height of 527 m. Skydeck is located at 103rd Street. Floor. The entrance fee was 41 US incl. The Ledge, without a drink voucher. After a Spectacular Experience on the way to the lift, you reach the Skydeck. The views over the city and Lake Michigan are breathtaking. The windows were super clean for beautiful photos. To use “The Ledge” we had to wait about five minutes. Three glass boxes are available. Each user may stand/sit/lie in the glass box for 90 seconds for photographing. It takes some time to step into the glass box and look at 412 m below you – but a super experience. A Chicago-based company installed the 600 kg glass panes measuring three times 2.54 cm. The panes were laminated and hardened to form a seamless unit.

The View!

By louisy596 |

This experience was everything I hoped it would be. Initially I was intimidated by the Ledge; however, once stepping onto the ledge, it was really exciting!

The building itself is one of my favorite buildings in Chicago. It was worth the visit and I recommend this for anyone who loves heights.

Family trip

It was an awesome experience!!! Definitely recommend!! The views and sights up so high are memories youll share forever!

By doctorfoxtrot |

This is a must see attraction. Wonderful displays highlight the city history . Interactive segments enlighten the senses . Finally the views at the top are worth it . Don’t miss the photo ops at the glass bottom exterior, the Ledge . Prepare to queue. There is a time limit . Going back don’t miss out on the merchandise.

Great Experience - A must do while in Chicago

By Shirl |

We were pleasantly surprised by all of the history that you learn as you go through to the top of the skydeck. We had a great time. What a fun experience!! A must do while in Chicago.

By JFWhite |

Very cool experience going up Willis Tower. Great views if clear. A bit expensive, but worth it. Lots to see and a must do.

By mandiv27 |

What a stunning experience for us and the kids. The que was quick and well managed though we took the expedite pass to surpass the wait. The lifts 🛗 were the fastest we have ever experienced 103 floors done in seconds.. WOW!! The experience was worth the visit. The view to die for and the see through floor is an amazing creation. Must experience while at the windy city, Chicago.

By Jddme26 |

The Skydeck at Willis Tower offers an unforgettable experience with panoramic views of Chicago that are absolutely stunning! Standing on the glass ledge and looking down at the city below was thrilling and surreal. The interactive exhibits inside provide fascinating insights into the history and architecture of the city, making the visit both fun and educational. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the experience was seamless from start to finish. Whether you’re a local or visiting, the Skydeck is a must-see for anyone looking to take in the best views of Chicago. Highly recommend!

Tourist rip-off for $78 👎🏽

By Gasballonfahrer |

The view is great, but we were rushed around by the staff in a way that could be described as rude. At the actual destination, an employee took 2 minutes to take photos of us that he wanted to sell. We were given 1 minute for our photos and were then thrown out with very rude words and the next group was simply placed in front of us. That was tourist rip-off👎🏽for 78$🙈

Expensive but an expereince

By sammatthews6 |

It was fun and a really cool way to see the city, we went around 11 am, had advance tickets so no line to wait in. You wind through a museum that's cool and then stand in line to enter the skybox. Have a plan, you have 90 seconds, my 13 year old didn't shut up so ended up with about 30 secs to snap a few photos. Pretty expensive to not get a photo, we could have gotten back into line and waited but it was just too long to justify it.

Service was good but cold.

By Explore32442662873 |

View was really good. However, there are no safety devices on the balcony, so family trips with children require caution. The heater broke and it became cold.

5/5 So worth it

By 🍓 |

We spent like 1-2 hours in the building, it was so worth it. Such a beautiful panorama, with nice staff and great places to take selfies at.

Great view!

By Hira R |

Purchased the expedited entry, definitely worth the money. Lines for general were really long. expedited entry had depart lanes throughout the experience. Beautiful view overall.
That being said, ledge was not the best experience because of how rushed it was . I suggest going as a party of two in the ledge of you want individual pictures. We were given 90 seconds for a party of four so the pictures were really rushed.

What a View!

By Brandon |

This attraction is amazing to get a 360 view of the city. The ledge is an exciting experience that lets you stand over the city and get a picture of you above the clouds. Definitely get the city pass because it gets you into the expedited entry and lets you skip the line.

Wait in line forever! Horrible experience.

By Porter S |

The line moved SLOWLY and was taking FOREVER so we QUIT before ever making it to the elevator. After 45 minutes in that horrible line, an employee told us we were still “quite a ways” from the elevator.

By Sven R nine T |

In advance: Here a European spirit writes...

The Willis Tower in Chicago, formerly known as the Sears Tower, is the tallest building in the city and one of the tallest in the world. An absolute highlight for all visitors is the observation deck in 103rd floor. Floor known as Skydeck including "The Ledge"

From here you have a breathtaking panoramic view over the entire city and its surroundings. On a clear day you can see up to four different states! Particularly fascinating are the glass balconies that extend out from the building (Ledge) and allow you to look straight down – a real experience for the adventurous and vertigo-free and those who may become so.

.As someone who has seen a lot of the world and comes from a big city in Germany, I found the Willis Tower impressive.

Especially the queue entertainment program was beautifully designed, so the waiting time flew by. Inside, everything was very well maintained and clean, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The American staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, even to visitors who have never had such experiences and do not find their way around the building well.

The service was really outstanding here and made my stay even more memorable. All in all, this is a unique opportunity to admire Chicago's skyline from a bird's eye view and take unforgettable photos. For German travelers curious about the architectural wonders and impressive size of the city, visiting the Willis Tower is a must, in my view - even if photos cost $35.

Here you get not only a sense of the vastness of the metropolis, but also an unforgettable impression of the innovative power and pride of Chicago.

Thrilling Views with a Glass Edge

By Paul G |

Skydeck Chicago at Willis Tower offers breathtaking views of the city skyline. The iconic glass ledge is a thrilling experience. However, long wait times can be a downside. Overall, it's a must-visit for the stunning panoramas.

Spectacular views

By 236gerardom |

Spectacular views of the city of Chicago. If you have vertigo, don't even think about getting into the glass box. If there's no filling, it's worth it.

impressive views

By Jan U |

Not a cheap excursion destination with a wonderful 360 degree view of Chicago. We didn't have to wait because we booked a time slot in advance. The security checks and the elevator ride were uncomplicated and when you got to the top the view was fantastic. You can walk around and move outside the building in the glass boxes at "The Ledge" more than 400 m above the ground.

By kbobefun |

My wife and I visited the Skydeck Chicago on a quiet Sunday. There weren’t a lot of people when we went. We bought the tickets at the attraction but if you plan on seeing multiple attractions in the city you might consider getting a ticket package.

It’s a bit of a maze at the bottom of the tower. If you are short on time and it is busy you may want to get the preferred ticket. The maze has some neat photo taking displays and history of Chicago. It is really well done.

If you like to take photos this is a must stop. Even on a somewhat cloudy day, the views were incredible. The main attraction is the ledge where they take your tourist photo, and you have 90 seconds to take as many photos as you like. The attendants are very nice and do take shots if you ask. We usually don’t buy tourist photos but the one they took was a great impulse buy.

There are some higher end fast food shops in the lobby like shake shack, seafood, bento box/asian food, and a donut shop.

We were a $5 cab ride from millennium park.

Enjoy!

Superb experience
A wonderful view of Chicago!
No queue to climb, exciting pictures on the desk!!super recommended!

Sky deck

By TiAndria S |

The views were great. I went with my husband and we had a blast. The elevator ride up was hilarious. Your ears are definitely going to pop. Great place for photos although you only get 90 seconds on the ledge. It was perfect for our date night!

By jaquan c |

The views were amazing. Looking at all the buildings from the 103 floor was amazing. Standing on the ledge was great. You only get 90 seconds to take pictures, buy you go back if you want. The elevator is fast.

By Cynthia S |

A must see in Chicago! Military veterans receive a free g.a. ticket w, ID. You walk around the floor & then head to the skydeck where you’re given 90 seconds to look in your designated see-through cubicle. Keep the tick with the QR given after your picture is taken prior to heading to the elevator. You can pick up pictures taken for a price.

Great view

It is great.the view and photos, I only get very short the time available, it is understandable pot the amount of people.

Mixed Impressions at Skydeck Chicago

By ashishb |

I recently visited Skydeck Chicago for the third time in the past decade. While the attraction itself remains impressive, my recent visit left me with mixed feelings.

Positives:
Entrance Experience: The new entrance from the -2 floor was a pleasant surprise. It added freshness to the overall journey.
Engaging Exhibits: The exhibits along the way, from the ticket counter to the elevator, reintroduced me to Chicago’s rich history and neighborhoods.

Areas for Improvement:
The Ledge Staff: Unfortunately, the staff at The Ledge (glass-floor observation box) fell short. Their rudeness and lack of assistance impacted my experience.
Limited Photo Opportunities: The 90-second time limit for photos was frustrating, especially when the modeled pictures displayed on screens set high expectations. Actual patrons don’t get the chance for those iconic clicks due to the time constraint. Rejoining the line for another 90-minute slot isn’t always feasible.

In summary, while Skydeck Chicago offers breathtaking views, addressing staff behavior and enhancing photo opportunities would significantly improve the overall experience.

Put it on your list "to visit" places

By Eva T |

Before we travelled to US we made a list of places which we would like to visit - after researching the cities we were going to visit - and this skyscraper was on that list. First we saw Willis Tower when we took part in an architectural boat trip. Amazing, we thought how they built it in such a short time. The online tickets for its biggest attraction - Skydeck with the Ledge did cost for two of us around $90 (I think it was $88 but I am not absolutely sure). The tickets are timed to be sure you don't miss your slot - we came a bit earlier in order not to miss it and waited a bit in the lobby where are several restaurants/eateries. Then we went 2 floors down to checking area, after going to the elevator they made a photo of us and we proceeded to excellent exhibition about the city and history of the building. I would recommend to read the panels, the information is very interesting. Within a couple minutes in one elevator (!) we reached the observation floor on 103rd floor. Wow, we got the same feeling like we had a week before visiting Empire State Building observation in NYC. But here it was something more special - the Ledge. Everybody had a limit of 2-3 minutes standing in the glass box sticking out of the building. I remember stepping on the glass floor was like walking "on the egg shells" - it was something between excitement and fear looking down and under my feet I saw the the street and other tall buildings. When we went out we waited a bit in front of several busy computer stands with staff and visitors around only to realize that they shouted our names and offered us a two photos of us for $35 - that was reason for making our photo before going to the observation floor. Sorry, we considered it quite cheeky, we should be asked if we would like to have photo made for us - we would say straight no as we had our camera.

Beautiful Views

By Stephanie M |

Great way to get a beautiful panorama view of the city! Definitely a must-do for first time visitors. There is also a very scary yet once in a lifetime glass observation deck.

By Francisco D |

The view is really good but I feel that the capacity can control it much better. The number of people overshadows the overall experience around the entire skydeck. The part of the glass cases is also supremely fast so you have to know how to take advantage of the 90 seconds.

Sky Deck

By Charise T |

Really not worth $100. Wanting to have my kids experience things but the costs of these experiences have become absurd. Neat experience but was a free one 20ish years ago

By auchris |

Price was high, but enjoyed the view and experience. But, if you dont have the extra cash to spend you won't miss this experience.

Terrible experience

By Manu G |

It was Just a Rip off!! They just give 90 seconds and only half portion of the ledger!!
More over the ledger is in a place from where the down buildings are not visible. Avoid if u can!

By Jennifer Q |

Absolutely loved the experience! We went on a Thursday afternoon so it wasn’t as busy. Bonus was that there was an interactive exhibit that you weave through before getting on the elevator to go to the top. Once you’re at the top your breath is taken away! We were lucky that it was a clear day, but you could see the clouds rolling in from Lake Michigan covering part of the city which was cool to watch happen. The ledge that you go out on was so much fun! You get 90 seconds to take as many pictures as possible and then you can hop back in line for more. They take a professional photo of you that you can buy at the end of the trip if you want it. The pics were so good we went ahead and bought ours. I don’t know if the experience is worth the $40+ per person to go to the top, but I will say it was the one thing we had to do as visitors to Chicago so we can say we had the experience!

By Lisa J |

When we finally got to the Skydeck the views were amazing as was the glass booths to stand on. However, totally disorganised. We arrived at 5.15 for a 5.30 ticket time, we queued and queued with no staff around and eventually overheard that only 1 lift was working as we were taken to a service lift after queuing for 55 minutes. We spent about 2 minutes on the deck where taking our picture was more important and then you guessed it, then had to queue to come down, again after another 20 minutes of queuing we went via 4 lifts into the shop. There where more staff manning the photo booths than we had seen on our way up or down! The queuing did kind of kill of the experience and we were late for our 7pm dinner reservation!!!

Great time well worth money

By Pete S |

It isn’t just the ledge and a tall building they have many exhibits to walk through and take pictures down stairs have them take your picture upstairs on the ledge it is definitely worth it they take a much better shot than you can unbelievable view. Enjoy. One of the 4 or 5 things not to miss in Chicago

Cool

By Eriecka K |

Definitely enjoyed this experience. There is so much to see and do before the sky deck. I was too afraid to stand on the ledge, but I still enjoyed the experience. Would recommend and do again.

Worth the ticket upgrade to skip line

By Anne S |

We had gotten the express tickets so had very short waits for elevator up and for the glass boxes. Great views and the signage puts things into perspective.

By Henry Howard |

We went for dinner at Skydeck's pizza, which was a disappointment. The view from the place is wonderful, but the service is poor, late and despite presenting it as dinner, and pizza served on tables set up when the Skydeck closes. No drinks option and everything is too simple to charge USD 100.00 per person.

Breathtaking view

By Watzmannsfeuerwerk |

Once you've made it through the reception and waiting area, which is a bit too long, you can look forward to a breathtaking view of the whole of Chicago. There is also the option of standing in a glass box that has been installed outside the building. A great experience. Of all the skyscrapers in Chicago, this was the one I liked the most.
The price-performance ratio is average, although the entrance fee is very expensive.

The Ledge

Great views

By Gregsky |

My wife and I visited here recently (at dusk) after visiting with our kids ~9 years ago. Guessing that the views are better during the day or at night, but it was still fun. A bit steep at $32pp.

Brilliant experience!

Amazing place to understand Chicago icons and History. Wonderful view. Outstanding customer service. Special thanks to Andres Carino who could locate a lost scarf and sent to me in Indianapolis prior to my departure back to Brazil.

Did the Sears Tower as we like to still call it right after breakfast no lines and went right in. A must to do on a trip to Chicago. Be sure to send pictures back to friends as they all wanted to comment on them.

Incredible views of the City, and we loved the Ledge!

By Roch65 |

We love observation decks, and the Skydeck did not disappoint. The views of the city are simply beautiful. We highly recommend the Ledge. You step into a glass balcony where the glass floor provides views of the city 103 stories below. It's definitely a breathtaking experience. After we had done it once, we got back in line to have a second opportunity to be on the Ledge. This was one of the highlights of our trip.

By Sarah |

The pizza was cold.. the cheese was hard. The pictures online make it look nicer than what it is. Looks like the best place for a date or to show someone a good time in the city. For the price I expected way better. They blasted corny music like I was shopping in Walmart and the lights were so bright that we just got to see the reflection of ourselves and not actually out the window, at least dim the lights for the people?! Not even for just viewing but just for the ambiance as well . It was like we entered a bright office. Plastic plates and forks everything was just so cheap. No liquor, you get the drink you pre-order and that’s it. They deliver the pizza and by the time it ends up to your floor, it is stale and not even WARM. Yikes. Pls if you are reading this go to an actual deep dish place and see the sky deck through general admission. Bate and switch, trust all of these negative reviews.

By Micaela B |

Bad experience. Not worth it. They make you pull out a ticket with a schedule and then stand there lining up for over an hour. In our case, we choose the time of 20 hs to be able to appreciate the city during the day/sunset and also to see it at night. This did not happen as we were directly able to enter after 21, being completely at night.
The skydeck is nothing otherworldly, I having known the one in New York, this one seemed crap. And for the famous photo, they give you less than 90 measly seconds. Which doesn’t allow you to enjoy the place as one is watching to take a decent photo. There goes the worst of my experience, we asked the girl who worked there coordinating and that, to take a picture of me and my partner, I took it unwillingly, throwing us out in a terrible way (pushing us), and what happened? THE MOVED PHOTO. An hour and a half waiting to have the blessed photo and I have it MOVED.
Really bad experience, don't come, spend the money on something else.

Worth It

By mrjobs2016 |

Four of us went in together. We all enjoyed it. I encouraged our party to move quickly through the exhibit that everyone goes through before going up to the Skydeck. The exhibit was good, but I wanted to pretty much keep moving so as to get to the top. It might have been helpful to have an idea how long it would take before we could go up the elevator. Maybe we would have spent a little more time at the exhibit.

The day was clear, just slightly hazy, so views were excellent. I was surpised I could see Midway Airport so easily. The Ledge was cool. Although it seemed some people were allowed a lot more time out there than others.

Wow, so high!!

By Susan M |

Oh my, what can I say.....this was a fantastic experience in the tallest building in the West. We were really scared going onto the platforms, it's a long long long way down! The views of the city and beyond are fantastic. Coming from Scotland we were amazed at how flat it is, no hills in sight!!

I Love a Good Skyline View... Especially in a Glass Enclosure!

By inspiruption |

Visit the Skydeck, located on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) with this pre-paid admission ticket. From the highest point in the city, look out on Chicago's skyline for panoramic views of the sprawling Windy City. Peruse the interactive displays and exhibits showcasing Chicago's history, which are geared toward curious learners of all ages. Then walk out on to the Ledge, a glass balcony that allows views of Navy Pier and Wrigley Field from one of the world's tallest buildings.

Having done this before, it was great to go back and see that they've added a museum experience that helps lessen line waits. If you're a Ferris Bueller fan like us, go find the plaque. If you love a good skyline, there's not a bad view. If you don't mind heights, the ledge is so fun! It's worth the admission

NOTE: The Ledge is not for everyone. We saw many a person have a tough time wanting to stand on the glass enclosure!

By Una C |

Very long queues throughout. We visited in the evening and though the views were amazing the brightly lit interior caused a lot of reflection on the glass making photography difficult. Our visit was during a busy marathon weekend so the resultant long waits in line for entry and the lift put a dampener on the whole experience.

By life traveler |

The views, it is all about the amazing views of Lake Michigan and downtown Chicago. Once I was up there I ordered a drink and took a seat to admire those views. I went at sundown and bought the ticket ahead of time.

By Trip606325 |

It was fun going out in the deck, but I was surprised at all the information panels leading up to the elevator and on the sky deck floor. They provided a lot of interesting historical information about Chicago. Just wish I would have had more time to really absorb it all

The Willis Wow!

By Charles S |

The Willis Tower is 1451 feet tall and still commonly referred to as the Sears Tower. It opened in 1973 as the world's tallest building and is now the 23rd tallest. It is a popular visitor attraction, buy tickets in reception and then go up in the speed lifts to the Skydeck observation deck level which provides fantastic views over the city. Worth a visit for a wow factor!

The ledge experience is great but a lil too expensive

By Ashwini |

Standing on the ledge feels great. But if you are spending the 90s assigned to you taking pics, you can’t really enjoy the feeling. If you don’t care about pics and here for the experience it’s definitely worth it

Visit at Sunset

By Toodles4now |

We went at about 8:00 PM. We got to experience the views during daylight, see the beautiful sunset and the night lights. We would highly recommend going at sunset. Our suggestion if you are there at sunset would be to head fairly quickly to the ledge. There is a line to visit the ledge. 2 people can go at a time, and you get 90 seconds to enjoy the view and take pictures. After visiting the ledge, we were able to go back to the rest of the viewing area to see the view at night and take pictures. Once admitted, on the way to the elevator to go up there are displays and information that we found engaging and informative

Highly recommend!

By Passenger215450 |

Loved this experience! Even though I am scared of heights…it was something you just have to do in Chicago. The views are incredible!

By EastCoastCanada |

We reserved our timed entry ticket for 6:30 pm using City pass and had no issues. We used the Citypass app to make the reservation and felt we got value from using the Citypass during our stay.

We were a little late due to dinner running long but there was no problem getting in when we arrived and no line. There were quite a few exhibits to look at on our way to the elevator about the tower and local history, so we were about 20 minutes before making it to the elevator- but we could have walked past this if we wanted as there was no large crowd here on the day we visited.

The elevator ride was quick and there was information provided on the way up. The views were amazing from the top.

There was a much longer wait for the ledge/skydeck, and those with priority tickets were able to get express entry (not us). We waited about half an hour but it was worth it and the skydeck experience was awesome! The glass floor was very cool and after the photographer’s shot we took as many pictures as our 90 seconds on glass ledge would permit. Attendants are present and they time the 90 seconds so be ready!

Because of when we arrived and the wait for the ledge/skydeck, we were able to get both daylight and nighttime views- good planning tip for future.

It was a fun and unique experience- would highly recommend!

Book tickets for a given time but lots of queues no matter what it seems like no one has an overview. Absolutely not worth the price. They have an elevator and windows in the hotel...

Great views of the city

My wife and I visited here around dusk during a recent trip to Chicago. (We'd been here in 2015, during the day, with the kids.) The pre-ascent activities as you line up for the elevator have been significantly improved, with some cool facts about the tower and photos ops that were fun. The view from the 103rd floor was great, as it was last time. $42/person seems a bit steep for something that takes ~1 hour, though.

By Aquiles M |

Really poor experience. It's too bad that something that could be a beautiful night turned out to be a hilarious situation.
The pizza was served cold and after asking for heating it up FOUR TIMES they weren't able to make it hotter, the dessert was presented in a plastic cover and the beverages were just a glass of soda, we asked for water and they only gave us the bottle without even changing or cleaning the glasses.
They only argue about the fact that we didn't choose the options on time... I don't know why that should be related but I wouldn't ever pay again for something like this.

My advice is to eat the pizza in Giordano's and then just pay to go up to the skydeck. You'll save a lot of money

Great for first time in Chicago

Great experience. Good staff and took lots of photos. Great way to see the city. Highly suggest if first time in Chicago and want to see city

Willis Tower

It was amazing, the view, the food and everything else was just exceptional...love it there and would really visit again.

Woah - so good

By Karsca01 |

Thought the downstairs part was something you should do early in your trip to Chicago . We were lucky to have a clear day with views for miles. Spectacular !

Wooooow!

By FedeDavide4 |

The immersive experience that takes you to the elevator is beautiful. The small balcony suspended in the air is fantastic. Too bad you can only stay there for 90 seconds.
Wi fi throughout the property. Several places to eat inside.

By Baron Barrett |

This has been top of my travel plans for many years.. and boy it did not disappoint..buy your ticket on line ( direct ) and not through the many agents on-line.. try going mid-morning, there is plenty of allotted time spaces and usually any bad weather coming off the lake has blown through.. a great story of how the tower was constructed along with a little history of Chicago before you head up to the viewing platform..once the lift doors open the views just hit you.. take time to breath in all the different aspects of the glorious Chicago skyline and most definitely step out on to the glass box.. a little bit scary at first, but what a experience… In conclusion: a must do experience when visiting Chicago and great value for money..

By Paz G |

Very good, easy access, not so much line. We had a lovely day and we could enjoy it, you miss something like a coffee shop or something else besides just taking the pictures, like staying for a while

Sensational

By DaniGina27 |

Just amazing. The view of Chicago is stunning, every window you look at has an amazing look. At the entrance everything super organized, with schedules, quite quiet, we took the elevator and went up to the 103rd floor... a wonderful feeling. To enter the "glass cube" has a well-organized queue and goes super fast because each group that enters has 90 seconds to take the most amazing photos possible. I confess it gives a fear when you step for the first time, but then it's too much fun. It is very worth it and the amount charged is fair. It was a unique and unforgettable experience.

A special experience in the Windy City

By SimpleTravelBlog |

The Skydeck at Willis Tower is truly a highlight and definitely worth a visit! Although ticket prices are quite high at $36 for normal admission and $55 for the so-called "Expedited Skydeck Ticket", the outlook more than makes up for it. The more expensive ticket is especially worthwhile if there is a lot going on, as you can get ahead of the line here – in winter, when Chicago is a little quieter, the cheaper "Adult Timed Ticket" is quite enough.

Important tips for planning:

In summer: Be sure to reserve your tickets online in advance! Spontaneous visits could be difficult if the desired time is fully booked.
Find a ticket office: The counter is a bit hidden – go to the ground floor, look for the large hall with restaurants and go down one floor. There are also toilets and drinking fountains.
Once at the top, you can enjoy a breathtaking view:

East: Lake Michigan stretches to the horizon.
South: The Chicago skyline overlooking the planetarium.
Northwest: With clear visibility, you can even see O’Hare Airport.

Apart from the photos, you can also just take time to enjoy the view in peace. Schedule about 1 hour or more to fully enjoy the experience. There is also the possibility to refill water bottles at drinking stations.

Conclusion: Despite small organisational challenges – such as finding the ticket counter or limited photo time – the Skydeck is an unforgettable experience. For the best views, it is worth visiting in clear weather, and those planning a bit ahead will not be disappointed.

Did not follow the ADA

By Catherine M |

As a disabled veteran with a service dog. I was appalled to be asked what my disability is. They broke the ADA law. Very humiliating to be asked this in front of others.

By EduardoBreda |

Impressive the kindness in the service, as a business card for a very cool observation deck. I know several others, but this one left an excellent impression.

The dazzling and well-organized night view of Chicago is a must-see when traveling to Chicago.

By Nam-Sub kim |

The dazzling and well-organized night view of Chicago is a must-visit when traveling to Chicago. We recommend visiting after sunset.
You must purchase a city pass or go pass to enter very quickly. Everything from riding the elevator to taking photos is a free pass.

Military is admitted for free with military ID

By Mickie M |

Service was great at the box office and with the staff directing the path for visitors. They don't seem to advertise that active and retired military enter for free, but they do (with military ID / paperwork). Access to The Ledge is now limited to 90 seconds. You have to line up to access and then you're literally timed for the 90 seconds. The souvenir shop at the end is fun and has a lot of great options.

Don't rush through the exhibits on your way to the skydeck elevators!

By Traveler |

We had visited the tower many years ago and were pleasantly surprised by the revamped experience provided on our way to the tower elevators. The multimedia exhibits about Chicago's history, culture, and arts were a great lead-up to the skyjack experience. At the skydeck ledges, we had ample time to look and take photos.

Views from a 103rd floor.

By Miguel Gómez |

The Skydeck experience was so good, we enjoyed a lot. You go in a super fast elevator right to the 103rd floor, and you see the entire city of Chicago from the Willis Tower. The Ledge experience was good, but the one thing that I didn't like is that you have a very short time to be in the ledge in order to let the others to be, but is understandable. The photos you can take from the skydeck and the ledge are unmissable.

Great views of the city!

By Shailey S |

The views on the Skydeck are amazing!!!! I wish we could spend more time on the Ledge, but I understand why they keep it short. Overall, a MUST visit in Chicago!! I definitely recommend the CityPASS for expedited entry - it saved us tons of time! Great views of Chicago and it’s beautiful skyline :)

Nice view and more museum down at the entrance very impressive

By _S1278FY |

After being in Manhattan, the view here is not impressive. The museum below before the ascent is very impressive. The service at the cash register is bad, just an oba who answered me. And the windows were very dirty.

By bkahveci |

“Skydecks”, where you have to queue for hours, covers the sunset side which leaves no chance for normal photography. Decks are dirty, again resulting in poor shots. Staff are rude.

Whenever I visit a city I tend to climb up to its most famous tower. This one has been my worst experience so far.

Worth it

By lufc1993 |

Very good. Pre booked tickets but was very little queue, could enjoy it without it being too busy. Would recommend to anyone. Just needs a coffee shop at the top

By Westyjase |

When in the USA, go up a tall building! We were in Chicago so just had to visit the Willis Tower using our CityPass. With it being Memorial Day, it was pretty quiet and no queue to enter. Once at the top, there are spectacular views. There was a line for the SkyDeck but not long. You get 90 seconds on one of the five decks so don’t mess around! A great experience. Unlike other tall buildings, there were no refreshments at the top. Maybe, they are missing a trick?

Get out there on that glass deck!

By Kate N |

Loved this tour, including the history and highlights of the city of Chicago. I would consider this a "must-do" for any first time visitor (like me!). The views were incredible - we were lucky to have a lovely clear day. The glass deck made my heart race but it was completely surreal to be out there and look down!

The Willis Tower in Chicago

By J. Bakker |

Take the elevator to the 103rd floor. What a height. We didn't have a sunny day but the view was still amazing. Everything went well organised. You were given 90 seconds to take the photo in the glass bulge.

Staff tried to make us spend more 🚩

By Oscar O |

The views are perfect, right what we were expecting when we decided to visit SkyDeck. The only issue is that the staff tried to make us buy the more expensive ticket (express pass), as they said there was a lot of people waiting so we would have to wait a lot. We decided not to buy it, and we chose correctly, as there was barely a couple persons waiting to get to the elevators. The experience is worth it, just be cautious.

By Kim S |

For those not afraid of heights, this is a must-do thing while in Chicago. Not only do your ears pop on the way to the 103rd floor, when you get to the top you can see all of Chicago! The sky deck is fun to go out on and snap photos looking down. A good activity for teens.

"On Top of the World"!

By Phil B |

The entire experience was great! Learned a lot about Chicago, some history, and some interesting facts and figures about Willis (a.k.a. Sears) Tower!! A great addition to any Chicago visit.

By Ian C |

103 floors up in the elevator and no better view of Chicago than this. You get 90 seconds in the Skydeck to take photos and enjoy the experience of looking down. The floor around is open to take photos orotund Chicago, and there is a gift shop and toilets on the floor too

Loved it!!

By Melissa N |

We went on a Tuesday morning in October. There were extremely low crowds so we were able to take our time and take as many pictures as we wanted. We had expedited entry due to CityPASS, but we didn’t need it.

A must when visiting Chicago

By stephanie_bergstrom |

A must if ever visiting Chicago. Views are amazing. Pay extra to get the front of the line pass. I was scared to death stepping out on the clear (enclosed) ledge, but it was worth it. You will love it.

Nice view !

By Daydream01846103196 |

The views were absolutely stunning, but the photo-selling policy was a total scam. They sell multiple copies of the same image without giving you the option to choose or combine your favorite pictures. For $35, you get two duplicate images and one large print—no flexibility. If you're with friends, they assign separate QR codes, so you’re forced to make multiple purchases for each person’s set. I found it incredibly frustrating that you can’t mix and match your favorite shots as a group to keep as memories.

Museum, Skydeck and the Ledge...Highly Recommend

By DeeDeeJack |

A beautiful view! The museum you trek through before entering the Skydeck is a concise history of Chicago's architecture...I took the time to read everything; very interesting and visually stimulating. The Skydeck offers excellent views. The Ledge experience is great as well. You get 90 seconds on the Ledge to enjoy the view, take pics, etc. And best part is you're allowed to get back in line as much as you want to experience the Ledge as many times as you want. This 90 second limit is great for keeping the line moving and ensuring everyone gets time.

WOW!

By Rebecca M |

Better than I expected! I didn't kow there'd be a little museum-y thing on the way in. The views were amazing and I did inch my way on to the actual sky deck- barely! But even with not doing that, it would be fun. The only thing is, it is expensive.

Rainy/Clouds

By Rebekah L |

I didn’t know the 103 floor would be directly in the clouds on a rainy day. Considering I bought the tickets while it was raining, I feel like someone should have told me the visibility would be 0.

Great guide to the Skydeck

By Thomas C |

Laurie did a great job of guiding my group through the Experience and onto the Skydeck and ledges. She was a wonderful host and a fountain of facts both great and small. I want to thank her and recommend her to anyone interested in a guide to the Skydeck Experience. Tom

Impossible not to go

By daniele c |

If you are in Chicago it is a must to go up here to enjoy a unique and spectacular view.
Then at night it is something incredible.
I entered with the city pass and it was very fast and everything was excellently organised.
The very small influx of people that day allowed me to spend more than 10 minutes in the suspended glass boxes. Fabulous!
I recommend booking online!

Great views of Chicago

By sjbeacham316 |

The views were fantastic! We lucked out and were there on a clear day. You can see 4 states and the lake view is awesome! I chickened out and couldn't bring myself to step out onto "The Ledge". Massive fear of heights! But, my daughter and husband did and we have some great photos. April was a great time to go, no lines, no waiting. It will always be the Sears Tower to me! Highly recommend.

Kind of expensive but a unique experience

By Karen I |

The day we went seemed kind of busy but the operation was pretty streamlined so it really wasn't rushed or inconvenient. We purchased our tickets there but had to wait an hour for our time so if you want to make use of every moment in Chicago, purchase your tickets in advance. They definitely pack you into the elevator to get to the top so just let your claustrophobic friend or family member take some Ashwagandha or something to help them chill a little because it's definitely worth it.

unkind and rude photo man

By 7marthalu10 |

My experience could have been better if they would had a kinder person when people stand on the glass deck, those people there, the only thing they want is to take costly pictures and that's it. A young Hispanic man was extremely rude just because I wanted for my husband to take me a pic, and the time (90 seconds) ran off, that man should not be there since it seems, he does not know nothing about how to treat senior customers. He is also short of hearing, I asked him a couple of questions in Spanish, and he looked at me like as I was talking to the walls, yes, he speaks Spanish. This is an only time experience, and they should be more considerate. I understand the rules, but please be kind!

By Jeffrey S |

First of all this is tallest building in the region . Second they have great views . Third like the Sky 🌌 Tower in Auckland there parts of top that is glass Bottom . Lastly, I this site is good 👍 for first timers .

Great views of the city even on a cloudy day!

By chey |

What a beautiful view. It was cloudy and the clouds were around the building, but we still had a great time and enjoyed the view! I was nervous because of the cloudy day but still was a great experience. The tour you go on on your way to the elevator/sky deck was very informative and fun to see as well. Get there early so you can take your time and look at all the displays.

By Roberto V |

Nice to be but something was missing
I went to NYC or Toronto and the explanations were much wider and profound
Be proud of what you are and have like other cities

SUSPENDED IN THE AIR

By lola400 (@lola400) |

Visiting this building is worth it because before you reach the viewpoint you have a tour of different corridors with very didactic explanations about the building and the city.
Most attractive are the glass viewing points where you have the feeling of being floating in space.
A visit and an unforgettable feeling.

Great time!

By Amy L |

Super views and a fantastic experience! Highly recommend! Lots of fun for us and no wait at all. We would come back and do the same thing. Definitely put it on your list!

Sky-high thrills with a side of panic! 😱

By Yardley D |

The interactive pre-elevator experience was brilliant—fun facts, photos, and lively history. The ultra-smooth, fast elevators hide the height with engaging video walls. Glass bump-outs thrill the brave with a rush of panic! 😱 Weekday visit = no lines!

Overrated, overly packed

By Michelle C |

Before my review I'll note that my favorite view of Chicago is free, looking back at the City from the walkways near the Adler Planetarium. Just beautiful -- the skyline makes a statement. Unless you feel an urge to see the city sprawl beneath you, save your money and check it out!

We paid for the expedited tickets in order to skip the line. It was a warm day (July 4), and the attendant packed us into the hot, stuffy elevator. It was overly packed and very uncomfortable. Upon exiting, my son felt lightheaded. There is nowhere to sit, so we tucked into the gift shop area. He was fortunate we had brought water.

We walked around a bit and checked out some views. There is no information provided about what you're seeing. Your visit is accompanied by a pop music soundtrack. Occasional narration about the city's architecture would be nicer. There's a lot of open space, but the areas by the windows tend to get crowded.

I've been to the Empire State Building and the original observation deck at the South Tower at WTC years ago. This experience was "ok." I base my reviews on value and experience for the money, and this was just not worth the $64.

By Kable003 |

A great experience that started with an interactive “museum” of Chicago’s history and culture. Covering all five senses, everyone will find something interest on their way up. The sky deck is simply amazing! Only complaint is finding the entrance but that is minor and didn’t take away from the experience at all. Floor arrows may had been better but the people in Starbucks were happy to point us in the right direction.

Enjoyable and informative l

By Daniel C |

Very enjoyable and informative tour the tour guide Alan was every pleasant and friendly always interacting with everyone one the tour and interested in what people were talking about

By John M |

This is definitely a must do when visiting Chicago, and we were told this was the best Tower to visit, although we thought about doing the other Tower with the tilt experience but chose the Sears tower, as the locals call it. The experience can be a little unsettling and after you get to the observation deck you can become a bit lightheaded as you step out of the elevator. As you can imagine the views across the city are amazing and the Ledge is so cool. Definitely worth the money to experience the tower.

Not For Scaredy Cats

By egwanderlust |

The experience is great, but I would not recommend this to anyone who genuinely fears heights. The museum before the elevator ride was a lot of fun - unique photo ops and many facts about Chicago's history.

The elevator ride was quick, and the views from the top floor were beautiful. You really can see the whole city! The queue for the Ledge on a weekday wasn't bad - 5-minute wait for the two of us. As much as I tried, I only stood on the Ledge for about five seconds before getting vertigo. My husband had a wonderful experience and loved the look-down. I'm not saying this isn't worth it, but for someone with a fear of heights, I think the ticket price is too high.

By Ashley L |

This experience is pretty expensive. $45 a person after taxes.

It was very cool to experience it though! Being that high up is nerve wracking and fun! I also liked how each group gets there own window for viewing and picture taking. Although you only get 90 seconds per round (you can get back in line though).

The whole thing didn’t last very long - like 30 min. We went on a not very packed day. So we didn’t have any wait times and definitely didn’t need to purchase the more expensive ticket that skips the line. Just get normal GA

Terrible customer service - will over charge you and not make it right!

By Samantha V |

The view was great - Tuesday night was the perfect time.... but customer service absolutely dropped the ball! I tried to pay for our tickets online. The payment went through on my end, but I was never emailed tickets. I called, they told me to come in, in person and we could get it worked out. I went in...they told me that that their daytime office staff could help me the next day, just to call in. I went ahead and paid again. I paid. The system did it again. My card was charged - but the transaction never went through on their end so tickets weren't issued. They apologized. Said customer service would help work it out. We tried one more time. It went through fully! Over the next 2 weeks, I called numerous times, spoke to different people, finally found 1 person via email who seemed to be able to help. I ended up being refunded for 1 of the 2 "duplicate charges".....and when I asked for clarification about the second charge they have ghosted me. The view was great.....but the 90 seconds in the "ledge" wasn't worth the headache it has caused or the price they ended up charging me.

Amazing

By Brian S |

So I was walking around downtown and I was approached by two awesome individuals Adrian and Joshua. They both worked for the skydeck and were handing out pins. They both said amazing things about the sky deck so we decided to check it out. What an amazing experience. The view was absolutely amazing. Thanks so much for the recommendation Joshua and Adrian.

Divinoooo

By Lina Beta |

Great visit, the photos are divine, the panorama is great, we enjoyed it very much and it is not as frightening as it seemed lol

Never again

By Khristopher S |

Just down right terrible. They pick and choose who can take pictures and the amount of time. It was four of us together and they put us with other people, and started our time after the other's was already up there... never again

No need to do this twice

By ktkadish |

Your timed entrance experience begins with a professional photo where you are handed a barcode to collect the picture upon exit at the gift shop. Tourists continue through an immersive history and cultural guide of Chicago (and history and feats of the Willis Tower) before boarding the elevator up to floor 103. Even though guests are packed in like sardines, videoboards highlight your current elevation while comparing the height to structures worldwide. Upon reaching the SkyDeck, guests have floor to ceiling views to the South, East, and North. Each direction has maps and points of interest which help orientate your view. The West facing view has the four ledges. Here you queue again and wait for a 90 second period to be on a ledge. Each ledge has an employee for tracking time and taking another picture to pickup at the conclusion. Other guests make it a spectacle, posing and laying down for "the ultimate shot" - instead of appreciating the engineering marvel. More disappointing was that our family of three was grouped with another family of three for our ledge time, despite multiple other parties of one or two having an exclusive time (which remained unexplained). Signs do point to the time limit, even suggesting guests may wait to get on the ledge again. After the ledge, lines bring you to queue for the elevator back down.
This is a one time experience, don't believe it is worth a second visit - unless included in a package like the Chicago CityPASS.

Nice experience

By SDCA888 |

Unless you pay for an express ticket, the line to get to the top took as long as the time we spent at the top. This is my second time visiting. My first visit was before they added the ledge. The ledge is a nice addition. I'm scared of heights, but I managed by not looking down when I first set foot in the glass box. Unfortunately, it felt like I was getting herded to the ledge, so it was hard to just enjoy the views from other parts of the building.

Beautiful view of the skyline!

By TraJohncey T |

The view was wonderful! Couldn’t look down on the ledge of the attraction, but the professional photos were worth the anxiety! 😂

Ascending and learning

By CristinaMinas |

Even though it was raining and you could barely see the city, I loved the visit. The exhibition halls illustrate the city's past and its architecture, as well as culture, with an interesting mix of creativity and technology. The subway simulator is a well-made attraction. On the other hand, the elevator, which is very fast, allows the visitor to compare the height with different buildings in the world. On the upper floor, in addition to the glass balconies, there is a shop with souvenirs at good prices. I would return.

Fun to do once!

By Leila S |

It was great to see Chicago from that vantage point.

We ended up going early in the morning which meant that we could take our time and get the views we wanted without worrying about the other people in the way or being part of a crowd. The ledge was fun to do.

I would recommend doing it later on in a trip to Chicago so that the sights mean more.

Bird’s-eye view of Chicago

By Dorothy M |

The initial entry into the building is a little poorly marked for the SkyDeck. You go down to go up.
We went on a cloudy day but they showed us the camera view from the top and were willing to change our reservation. You need a reserved time entry.
It is not a glass elevator, for those who aren’t fond of heights. Of course, the views are exceptional and the Glass Ledge was fun.
You have to have the usual cheesy photos taken at 2 points.

By jlomein513 |

Great views all around. I purchased tickets through Chicago City pass. Traveled with a ten year old and 15 year old. Entry is timed and organized. We didn't wait long. Looking down through the glass floor was fun. The souvenir store was nice.

By Richard Ritchie J |

I was in two minds about this attraction but I was massively surprised, really really informative and interesting series of visual and interactive displays before getting the elevator up, when up there, amazing views and super photo opportunities

Photos Are A Rip-Off

By Fred |

Climbed the Sears Tower for Charity for 11/4/24. The Skyjack was great. The Vendor that either the tower has to take photos or that Shirley Ryan had taking photos for sale is a total rip off so beware. There were photos taken on the ledge as well. I paid for photos but cannot access them. So while the experience from the Skydeck is great--the photos are a scam. Once you purchase, there is no way to acess them and there is no customer service to help you out. The only way to avoid the charge is to contact your bank.

By 339leonardt |

Getting their early helps avoid the big crowds and enjoy the views more. The sky deck is an engineering marvel and can be a bit disorienting but is fun.

By yopinhu |

I tried to climb it with a city pass. First thing in the morning. A window will open up for the general public and the expedited, and of course the special. In the elevator after the photo shoot, the top in no time. I look downstairs normally. At the end of the experience, the transparent box sticks out. It was really 60 seconds, but I could experience it as much as I wanted in the morning, without the help of the staff. But at first I was too scared to stand on the transparency. You should definitely go.

By Steve L |

The actual skydeck lacks in anything that is standout from any other observation deck, even The Ledge experience doesn't have the level of excitement it should for queueing up for 90 seconds in a glass booth overlooking the city..
A standard interactive display takes you through to the lift up, which isn't particularly exciting, although could be informative if not going to any other museum.
The lady waiting at the queue for the lift going up was also exceptionally rude and that tainted the experience from the offset.
Overall it was disappointing.
Nice to see the Chicago skyline, however I've definitely had better times at other observation decks.

By ReviewsbyRyan |

Tips for a great Skydeck experience!
- Get the CityPass and expedited entry
- Line up in the expedited entry line by 8:40am
- Get off the 103fl elevators and skip the lobby/gift shop
- Go straight to the skydeck ledge. Enjoy extra time on your ledge!
- Go to the 103fl lobby/gift shop and spend as much time as you need, with less stress

Do not waste your money !!!

By Jose G |

We we were there yesterday for the Pie on the Sky experience , the 103 floor was closed due to high winds which they couldn’t control but at least they could of contacted us and gave us the option of still going for the regular view or have a refund but they didn’t and we found out about it once we were informed the elevator, the food is cheap quality, I know is pizza but everything from the salad , pizza and dessert wasn’t good quality the whole experience was not worth the $125 we paid each , if you still want to go get the regular ticket for $32 and if they close it at least you are out $32 and not $125 or like us $250

Fun to see the city

By SAT925 |

I am very scared of heights but went up the Willis tower. It was wonderful. Only thing that was bad that is was not completely clear but we did get to see pretty far. My husband and I even got to go to the glass enclosure. Very nice.

Long Lines and Wait Times

By Kat T |

Prepare to wait in crowded lines for hours if you want to visit the Ledge. We had 8:30pm tickets and waited almost an hour in the basement exhibit to take the elevator. Once we reached the Skydeck, we were told by an employee the 4th of July weekend is the busiest (and worst) time of the year to visit and it would be at least another hour to see the Ledge. We decided it wasn’t worth the extra wait for a 90 second photo op. This was a disappointing experience for the cost of admission and long wait times despite having timed entry admission.

A unique experience in a unique city

By Roberto A |

Unique experience and breathtaking view of Chicago. The entire path leading to the Skydeck is very well looked after and makes the experience at the Willis Tower like a visit to the museum. It all starts with a route in which the salient points of Chicago's urban history are explained, and then continues on a fake subway train towards the elevator that takes you to the Skydeck - Ledge floor. This gives you a breathtaking 360 degree view of beautiful Chicago and, the icing on the cake, access to the box ledges. Wonderful experience of being suspended in a glass box (tempered, laminated and absolutely safe) whose duration of 90 seconds can be extended, just get back in line! I absolutely recommend sitting on the "floor" inside the box, the sensation is truly unique! Everything is really well looked after, as in almost any American attraction or museum. The cost of the ticket is absolutely justified, but I recommend purchasing it at least one day in advance! Also check the partner platforms, you can save a little. The only negative point: the excessive cost of the official photographs taken inside the boxes. Almost no one buys them precisely because they are absurdly expensive.

As expected great views

By Peter M |

Bit pricey for what you get but the views are amazing on a sunny day , approach has various Informative presentations and some fun activities . You get appx 90 seconds on the ledge but they do make it clear you can rejoin the queue as many times as you want to get that perfect photo!

Definitely Recommend

By Elizabeth P |

This was a real highlight of the fun things I did around a conference trip to Chicago. The views are obviously spectacular, but the whole experience is good from initial entry to the lift going down. There is a lot of information about the City as you walk to the lifts, with fun photo ops and immersive experiences. The lift ride up is also really informative. Once at the top the views are incredible and the Skyledges were a test of my vertigo. The staff were super helpful in getting me out onto the ledge and I wish I had thought to tip them (you only have 90 seconds so not long to conquer your fears!) There is a gift shop at the top but no cafe and it was not at all crowded with only a short queue for the ledges themselves. Photographs cost a lot extra, but actually they were pretty good. I'd definitely recommend this - but book in advance online as it is a lot more expensive to turn up and pay.

Seen-once is enough

By Eulchen63 |

What really bothers me are the visitor centers - in this case, being forced to look through various pictures of Chicago for 10 minutes before you get to the elevator.
The Ledge is well done. If you're traveling alone, you only have the chance to take selfies or buy pictures of yourself. The employees don't take any pictures with their own cell phones.
Overall - it takes too long to get to the top.
The view is still good.

Even though the weather didn't cooperate, it was worth a visit

By beegal |

The day on which we'd purchased advance tickets was rainy and cloudy, with no visibility. To our surprise, they offered us money back or rescheduling the next day (even though the website said they were sold out - they reserve extra tickets for this purpose.) We returned the next morning and saw a few tops of buildings through the low clouds - which was still an awe-inspiring view. But we'll have to return to really see the full view someday.

It is recommended to drive up because from there you can have fantastic all-round views of the city, plus see the streets under your feet

A pretty cool tour

The entry to this has quite a few cool things to walk through. The tower is quite fast to get up, you get a good look around and then head down

Lo único que le sobra es el personal.

The viewpoint is wonderful, BUT the staff is pathetic. Unfriendly people, unwilling to work, and incapable of smiling. I’ve visited many attractions in Chicago and many other places, and I must say this is the only place where I felt uncomfortable. Chicago and its people seemed wonderful to me until I visited this viewpoint. Would I return? Yes, but only for the views. If it were up to the employees, I would never go back.

A must visit attraction

A must visit if in Chicago and worth the cost. There was quite a lot of information about Chicago's history and then you were able to go to the viewing area to see Chicago in 360. The views are amazing and it was nice to do this on the first day and then walk around later to see the same buildings up close. The ledge is a bit of a gimmick and you're only given a small amount of time in there and if staged photo ops aren't your thing then it's a bit awkward. Otherwise a fantastic attraction!

A must when you are in Chicago!

It is absolutely worth it when you are in Chicago.
Ma has a gigantic view over the whole city. Especially in nice weather.
