Great ski resort

By Bunny59 |

We loved this resort! It had several lifts and well groomed trails. The gondola takes you up 3/4 of the mountain and then another chair takes you up to the top. The views were spectacular, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and there are many amenities, shops and places to eat. We loved the Taco Beast near the top of the mountain. It’s a takeout restaurant on top of a snow cat! It had delicious tacos for reasonable prices. At the bottom of the mountain, the T-bar restaurant offered excellent food as well. It is take out, but on a sunny day it’s perfect. We saw three moose on the trail towards it.

Great resort with great slopes

By PAHWestfield |

Love the skiing here. Trees and glades. So many great runs. And the 2019 snow dumping made for awesome slope beauty.
Ambassadors and ski patrol friendly and helpful. Will return again and again.

Radar Love

By Paul R |

The city is dedicated to speed traps. Purposefully under posting the speed limits with patrol police. Restaurants are so-so. Skiing is good but pass on supporting the local municipality with your fine $.

Our favorite ski resort

By Cabby222 |

We love Steamboat! Enough terrain to satisfy our family of expert and intermediate skiers. With exception to Saturday on our week’s vacation, we hardly had any lift waits. The ski instructors are the best and there is a nice variety of restaurants and things to do when not skiing.

Heaven

By 203lindat |

We had the best snow, best weather and everyone was so friendly and helpful... The area is great! There is so much to do...go to the Hot Springs or go shopping or dine in the town

CO ski home

By Park M |

Always crowded, but lots of fun if taken with ease. Great town with good transportation and lots to see and especially to eat. Also, don't forget about Howelson Hill.

Favorite place to ski

By HDL |

Celebrated recent birthday with family at Steamboat ski resort and couldn't have asked for more perfect conditions. Stayed at the Steamboat Grand and enjoyed the convenience of proximity to all activities.

Terrain for all

By Mark H |

A great mountain and terrian for all levels of skiers and boarders with some of the best tree skiing in the world. Plenty of places to stay near the resort from condos to hotels. With the city of steamboat providing free buses, the mountian is only ten minute away from nearly every location

Great spring break trip

By Thomas R |

Came in for a week of skiing over spring break. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a group of 20+ they were very accommodating. This is a beautiful resort. Fun for all!!!

Nice Laid Out Resort

By Gerald C |

Even though it is not winter the resort area is really nice to visit. Most shops and the gondola begins operating again Memorial day. It is easy to drive the mountain and view the shops, skiing area and residential areas. This is our first time to Steamboat Colorado and we will definitely come again.

Nice resort expensive lift tickets

By MMGreg |

Nice friendly resort. Well groomed runs. Noticed it probably could have used a few more green runs for beginners. Lift tickets VERY expensive - not a lot of options for discounts

Way over priced! Didn't give military discount to me!

By James W |

Second time, I've been here, last time was 2003. I purchased my lift pass at the entrance the day I planned to go.....Big Mistake!, they charged me 199.00 for a one day pass! I'm a veteran and asked for discount, with a photo copy of my DD214, and they wouldn't take it.Said I needed a veteran card, even though I could prove I was a veteran. Everything is over priced and pretentious, restaurants in town are over crowded, i will never go back......

Well Run and something for all levels - my new favourite

By Dave B |

We were lucky enough to be in Steamboat when the early snow came.

We aren't expert skiers, but we are OK. We got our lift tickets and rentals gear and headed off to the lift to the lower (green) slopes for a warm up.
The guys at the lift were all helpful and friendly. The snow was great. The lower runs perfect for learners and for re-establishing yourself if it's been a while.
Not all of the lifts were open (it was the first week of the season) but there was plenty of options - and it wasn't that busy just yet so plenty of space!
The storm had passed and the weather was perfect for the first two days. It started to get a little icy in patches by the end of the second day, but still, it was perfect for us.

There was Black and Blue trails open as well.

The whole layout seems to work really well, although the last run at the bottom can seem a little flatter than some would like, although I thought it was spot on. A nice easy way to finish.
The Gondola and Chair lifts were fine. The bars and coffee shops within easy reach and the people all seemed really friendly.
For novice skiers, it is perfect. It looked pretty good for the experts as well and there were plenty of trails yet to open so when they really get going this place will rock.

Loooong Runs

By Bill N |

I have been to about 8 different major resorts in the Rockies and I have never encountered runs as long as at Steamboat. There was even a green run over three miles long. Slopes are steeper than some places, but a "blue" skier will have no dearth of trails to explore. COVID protocols in lift lines were very good and the masks worn properly were a must.

Great Intermediate-Advanced Skiing in a very transportation-friendly town.

By garritye |

Great skiing on fairly steep and wide Blue trails (your choice of with or without bumps). Everyone was very friendly! The longest lift line was about 3 minutes, even on the weekend we were there (although I've heard that the gondola can get long earlier in the day). Although we experienced unusually early Spring skiing due to some warm weather, we also skied in snow, receiving about 6 inches of powder over 2 of the days..
Free local buses are very convenient, hold skis and boards, run frequently and predictably. No need at all for a car! We recommend Storm Mountain Express shuttle from Haydon Airport (great small airport that holds large aircraft and has great food and beer). The ski patrol and mountain ambassadors are very approachable, helpful, and professional. There is also an excellent medical center located only about 2 miles from the gondola.

Beware of crowds

By J J |

I have loved going to Steamboat over the years with my wife and kids, but this year, the crowds were unbearable. Saturday 2/6 was like I was at Disney in the summer. Initial lift wait > one hour and no lift less than 40 minutes. I quit and went inside at 1200. It was not fun, and quite dangerous on the slopes. Sunday was slightly less crowded but 5 of their high speed lifts were shut down, so same result. Every other CO resort limited the number of folks on the mountain except for Steamboat. Thus, all of the folks that couldn't get in at the other resorts came to Steamboat. Such hypocrisy for the resort to put up COVID warning signs and to have the workers yell at you if your nose wasn't fully covered, then open the resort to everyone and have us packed closely in lift lines for an hour. Mind you, I don't think you should go to a ski resort if you're really worried about COVID, but the contradiction in words and practice was irksome.
I would have certainly been willing to make slope reservations (and even pay a little more) back in September when I booked my trip.

Anyway, if you there is new snow at Steamboat and its a weekend day, be prepared - the whole state is coming your way.

Steamboat needs investment

By LamaFood |

Steamboat ski area has a nice selection of terrain from the chutes off of Storm
Peak to Closet/Shadows to the Sunshine area. Unfortunately, the facilities are not competitive with other Colorado ski areas. The restaurants are substandard - and there are only 2 1/2 of them on the mountain. The lifts also need serious investment as they suffer from constant mechanical issues.

Best ski town in Colorado

By 645audreyw |

I've been skiing in Steamboat for over 25 years. The mountains appeals to skiers of all levels. The kids ski school is unsurpassed - my three kids all learned there. I've already skied 2 times there this season!

My Favorite Ski Experience So Far - Something For Everyone

By Suz_Expat |

My husband and I took our two children (both boys, 11 and 15) to Steamboat Springs to ski over the Christmas holiday this year. We had a great time! We were lucky as there was plenty of snow, and we had a grand time finding our way around the mountain. We aren't expert skiers (except for my husband, who is quite good), but we've been skiing for years and know how. We got a guide the first day, and she was great, helping us figure out where we were comfortable and where we weren't. We did not have much trouble with lift lines or any bad customer service problems. We were just happy the whole time. We left on Dec 29, and were told that every day after Christmas the crowds get bigger up to New Years day.

Great Skiing Weekend

By Nigel |

A little bit of powder on the first day, sunshine the next. Love the resort, but the restaurants are really expensive for cafeteria food $65 for 2 burgers and a salad and the they were not that hot, in fact the buns were so cold, because they had been left out in the cold air, it chilled the burger. But overall a great resort, just be prepared to spend a lot of money

Great resort, long runs and great access

By AbsolutelyDubrovnik |

Liked this resort - first time here. Lifts are good, pistes well groomed and long, so litle time wasted in lift queues.

This Ski Resort is the best!

By Tucker O |

This was the first ski resort I have ever been to and this place set the bar to high.I went to a couple of ski resorts a couple of years after and I could say for sure this was the best ski resort. The ski equipment was very easy to access and the people working in the ski equipment were very patient with trying. The had the best skiing trails and the best ski school. The ski school is totally worth it if you are a beginner. The ski trails were perfect for the colors they labeled them in.They were also great restaurants in walking distance. There was a ziplining thing that was also a part of the resort and that was my first time going ziplining and it was amazing.

Great time!

By rissdan |

Something for everyone! Skiing, snowboarding, rollercoaster rides over the snow, sledding, tubing. The snow is great!

Excellent Ski Resort!!!

By Angel V. |

My first time skiing was an unforgettable experience, The Instructor was a very friendly and Ski Lessons were very fun. Super Highly Recommended

Over priced and under serviced. Not worth the trip.

By Joseph C |

I found Steamboat Springs Resort to be over-priced and what’s worse over-crowded and under serviced. There was no lesson availability whatsoever. I visited last week of December and while there (after waiting in a ridiculously long line at their ticket office) was told there was nothing until January. I had called prior to visiting (when I bought the lift tickets) and had been told that getting a snowboard lesson the same day or next day wouldn’t be an issue so I didn’t reserve one. I’ll be sure not to make that mistake again. Super disappointed but determined to get a lesson elsewhere, on our way back to Denver we stopped at Keystone and got a snowboard lesson and rental the same day with no issues. Obviously the management at Steamboat doesn’t have a handle on their staffing issues.
I have skied most of the areas around Denver and Steamboat has also got be one of the most annoying mountains to get off of. It was super confusing to get down (not straightforward at all) and seems like you could either brave the ice ridden run of Heavenly Daze or suffer the really long green run to get down.
In addition, there was open unmarked water (I saw at least 3 spots) on the mountain, which is obviously extremely dangerous. I saw multiple skiers and snowboarders trying to scrape ice off the bottom of their equipment after they unfortunately ran through water and it froze. I have never seen open water at a ski resort before. It’s a deal breaker for me.
Finally The on mountain restaurants were a total mob scene. There were food shortages and service was unbelievably slow (it looked like there were staffing issues here as well).
I could go on but the bottom line is that for the price changed the experience wasn’t up to par. First and last time for me. I would stick with Beaver Creek in the future.

Back again after 7 years and it has gotten even better!

By susandO9489RZ |

Last time I was here I gave the resort 4 stars - they have certainly upped their performance to an even higher level. They offer many different activities on the mountain for skiers and snow boarders. You can watch the sign for a chance to ski with Billy Kidd, sign up for a mountain ski tour, catch early tracks or just enjoy the mountain. The Mountain Ambassadors are every where and very helpful for directing you to different runs or letting you know about changing conditions on the mountain. They also hand out hot chocolate and donut holes at the end of the day (at least they did while I was there).

I went Monday - Friday the last week of February and again the third week of March. Both times there were hardly any wait times at the lifts. They were great getting you loaded on the gondola all through the day and adjusted the line barriers based on the number of people. The lifts themselves seemed to move reasonably fast and i only experienced two stops all week and they were for short periods of time. I like the lifts that had the maps so you could determine where you wanted to go next. It was very easy to get from one side of the mountain to the other. People were courteous on the mountain and I never had an issue with rude skiers/boarders like some other resorts.

The mountain is great for those of us who are Blue/Black groomed slope skiers and they have plenty of green runs all over the mountain and even at the summit.

I was blessed with great snow on both trip which made it special. That being said - the grooming was done well and the runs were well marked.

One of my trips was with girlfriends and one was with extended family. Both trips were great and I will be back next year for two trips also. My grandson loved the ski school.

Check it out

By SymnCwl |

Very nice resort for family activities in the summer. Hiking, gondola, restaurants, bike trails, and many shops. Should at least check it out.

Ski Town USA

By drozowski |

Steamboat Ski Resort is located in a beautiful mountain town. Most of the other resorts are off a freeway and don't have the acerage that Steamboat does. We love hiking the mountain in the summer and skiing the same trails in the winter. The resort staff are friendly and kind. For instance my husband dropped his ski pole on his first run yesterday and one of the ambassadors lent him one. Just nice people. Especially they all seem to be working double time to keep everyone safe during covid. Skiing here with my family this past week has been incredibly relaxing and fun. Thank you Steamboat Resort!!

Not up to It's Reputation

By hitch |

I've wanted to ski Steamboat for 30 years and finally made it here. I was a little disappointed. I expected better. I'll be brief:
- The best intermediate and novice area is on the right (East) side of the resort. The verticle for these runs is barely 1,500 feet. For the best uncrowded middle intermediate, I recommend taking "Flintlock".
- The mid-mountain lodges are beautiful but have some of the worst and most expensive resort food I've ever had. Bring your own lunch.
- There are many better food options at the base, but why waste all the time going to and from the base? Besides, the base area always seemed too crowded.
- This was the most expensive US ski resort I've ever been to. The lift tickets and the food were far more expensive than any others. Perhaps this is because Steamboat seems to attract a lot of affluent, older people. I've never run into so many doctors, lawyers, and independently wealthy people at a major resort before.
- Finally, Steamboat Springs is nice but is not as quaint as Park City, Aspen, Telluride, Stowe, North Conway, or even Durango.

2020, even better than last year

By Greg G |

This year, Steamboat ski hill was particularly empty. We ended up renting a condo near the mountain so that we could walk in/walk out directly to the slopes. Both daughters were able to ski, despite their young ages.

Great Conditions

By Cori W |

The condition of the mountain was par none. I was recommended to go there while on a trip to Denver and did not regret it. We had two days there and my wife and I got most of the mountain done with great difficulty, as it was so big. There are 5 peaks an we didn't make it the top of any due to my wife being a novice. We skied all day and ate a few times on the mountain. Because they were busy the lodges can get packed but the staff was friendly and the experience was a good one.

GREAT Place to spend a ski vacation

By Denimo9 |

Been coming here since 1990. Lots of changes in the town and surrounding area, but they have done a great job keeping the lift lines short and people moving. The city bus service is second to none. Don't need a rental car here. Just take the shuttle to town and ride the bus all week. Then the shuttle back to Hayden airport. Plenty of great restaurants and things to do. Horseback riding at Saddleback Ranch, Snowmobile rides, tubing, night skiing, dinner sleigh rides etc. Hot springs.....

Fabulous skiing!

By Gail W |

Lucky to have great weather and great snow coverage.. There were so many runs and most of them were long with beautiful views and varying terrains and difficulty levels. Lift lines were fast and mostly short!! I would definitely come back here again!!

We had the best time!

By JillHiggins54171 |

We can't wait to visit here again. The resort is the perfect size with a great variety of trails and very friendly staff.

Nice Resort

By llhtexas |

Clean and beautiful with new gondola. Several eating options on mountain. City bus system allows for easy conmute from condo &/or downtown. Friendly staff and several shops to accommodate visitors needs.

Free bluegrass concert to enjoy during Happy Hour after skiing.

Great Resort

By Jeff B |

First time and we love it. Easy access to resort, easy parking and great people. Well maintained and groomed. Easy to navigate. Good restaurant selections. Nice area around the big gondola.

Steamboat ROCKS

By LoveToSki16Dive |

We just spent 4 nights at Steamboat Springs, skiied for 3 days. It was AWESOME! I can't wait to go back!

Mountain Bliss

By Darlene P |

I live on the East Coast and this our first trip west. Loved everything about it! The mountain had good groomers for my husband and I and lots more challenging moguls, glades, and ungroomed terrain for my young adult kids who are way more daring! The views are gorgeous, the people friendly, and lift lines were virtually non-existent. Download the Steamboat app before you go to get up-to the minute trail/lift reports and to track your runs!

Champagne snow second year in a row.

By MICHAEL F |

Beautiful mountain, great people stayed in a VRBO only issue was the rental van from Denver. The beer was cold and the snow was soft. There’s a little bar on the mountain with great tacos!

One of our favorites

By cmcolantonio |

Steamboat is one of our favorite ski resorts. Great beginner trails for the kids, easy to use lifts, and a great atmosphere.

A skiers mountain.

By lowtidelove24 |

Steamboat is a true skiers mountain. The terrain is challenging and the more difficult trails Arte plentiful. It is not as great for novice or beginners as compared with Beaver Creek or SnowMass. It is a very good place for more experienced skiers who enjoy a variety of trails and challenges. Sadly, I visited on the most crowded time of the year so the lift lines were rather lengthy. I look forward to returning on an "off" week someday.

Best Ski Resort in the USA

By brian i |

The mountain is absolutely beautiful to ski at all levels. Steamboat Ski School is the best run school of any ski resort. I highly recommend giving this mountain a try.

Thanks for opening a week early!

By ogerkan |

Got lucky in that Steamboat opened a week early while we were in the area. It was limited skiing (one lift and 9 or so trails) but it was a pretty good day. Plenty of ski shops and dining options at Gondola Square.
Tip - Christy Sports did a great job getting out outfitted for the day on great demo skis.

Fantastic Ski Resort

By Jeanne M |

This place is fantastic! There are trails/slopes for everyone! The conditions are so diverse from the bottom of the mount satin to the top. They move people so fast between the gondola and the high speed lifts - there really aren’t hardly any lift lines. With the diverse terrain, there is something for everyone!

Super fun and more affordable ski spot!

By MK F |

Steamboat is a hidden gem. If you want to get on a mountain but skip the higher-priced more popular locations, check out Steamboat Springs. We only visited the ski resort for one day of lift passes but we had a great time! Highly recommended.

Love the Boat.

By skier1970 |

Tough year with the snow and skiing in December you have take the bad years with the good years. This year was a bad snow year and the skiing was limited to man made but over all fun. Skied the Boat for many years and when it snow like it always does this place cant be beat.

Skiers Heaven

By CaptainJohn58 |

The Sheraton at Steamboat has everything and more you could possibly desire. The location of the hotel is just a few yards away from the Christi Chair Lift which will take right up into the mountain. The hotel has a Free shuttle that will drop and pick up up at any location in the downtown area. The downtown area as well as the hotel itself has great restaurants. The rooms are spacious, clean and had bed mattresses to die for. The kitchen is completely stocked with any and all things you need to turn your hotel room into a small condo for the duration of your stay. can't wait for our next visit.

19 inches of snow did help in my experience

By bigw1313 |

The layout of the mountain was helpful in giving everyone a run to their level of experience. All of the staff were very helpful and nice. My thanks for the dumping of snow while we were there.

Steamboat is Beauty and the Beast … Beautiful resort but horribly grotesquely overpriced at $309 a day

By BandwagonPa |

$309 a day. $618 a day for 2
$1,232 for 2 days skiing for 2
$1,827 for 3 days skiing for 2
It’s a beautiful resort but we are 1 and done.

Great resort with many great trails

By Karen F |

I am more of a green/blue trail person and there was a good variety of nice long trails for me. My husband and daughters are more adventurous and found plenty of black and tree skiing as well as bowls. Saw moose by the side of the trail which was a big plus!

Very cool

By san_mvb |

We were there and the mountain is very good in general.
The back part (back bowls are not worth it at all) but the rest of the mountain is very very good.
The weekend is very crowded

Great Ski Resort!

By John F |

I really like the varied terrain here. The base altitude is only around 7000 feet so adjustment is easy. The resort doesn’t feel snobby. The new gondola gets the morning crowds up the mountain 3 minutes faster than the old one. Lots of good eating options on the slopes. The snow quality really is awesome. Still not a lot to do at the base. The majority of restaurants and shops are a shuttle bus ride away in the town.
The coaster is fun.
One of my favorite resorts!!
Very family friendly.

Spring Skiing at it's finest!

By Nancy B |

Spent the 1st week of April skiing at Steamboat. The lines were short and the snow perfect! Take the gondola up in the morning and ski the upper mountain and you would never know it was Spring! At the end of the day the snow coming down was pretty soft, but if your legs were tired you could take the gondola back to the base.
EVERYONE was SO NICE! Lots of yellow jacket ambassadors to help you around. Lots of great places to eat and drink and best of all....NO crowds...just enough people around to feel homey! The bus service in SS is terrific - no need for a car...can take a but to and from the slopes and then to town or around the area after skiing for dining or shopping.

Champagne powder spring break

By Jigsawed |

Fantastic time in the Rockies. Everything within walking distance, wonderful ski school, and tremendous snowpack. We had a wonderful vacation and can’t wait to return.

Love the direct flight from EWR

By lifeimprovised |

Flying direct was a major timesaver. The resort is family friendly. Everyone here makes your stay enjoyable and wishing to return. The mountain gets very good snow in winter that lasts well into April

Huge crowds on snowy days.

By David S |

I have been skiing Steamboat for 20+ years. I have never seen this place as crowded as this year. It felt like half of the state of Colorado converged onto this mountain for the weekend of 02.05-07.2021. Whoever is in charge needs to control the crowd numbers out of respect of all the people visiting from out of state.

Ski Steamboat Springs

By gussterling |

Steamboat is a large mountain. It has 3500 feet of vertical. It has many amenities and a gondola. The upper mountain was fantastic. This mountain is expensive however. The good news about that is that the mountain was not crowded. It is also a long drive from Denver, 3 hours. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Road Scholar tour group

By charles819 |

Early March is a good time in Steamboat. Good cold, relatively fresh snow. I arrived Sunday, skiied Monday thru Thursday. I'm told that due to the new pass for multiple resorts, the weekend crowds approach the resorts near Denver. While I was there crowds were very manageable and weather was ideal.

So much fun in the summer

By amfair |

The summer land up activities are a lot of fun and taking the lift up and hiking down the Thunderhead trail was a lot of fun with our 6 year old. A great and full day!

Secluded ski and other seasonal resort

By Joel K |

NIce city way outside of the hustle and bustle of Denver. We enjoyed the off season time that we went to Steamboat.

great snow

By N I |

great snow. nice people. lodges on the mountain get a bit too crowded and hence hard to maneuver when you are tired. they probably need more to help spread out the crowd. the price is reasonable if you book in advance but obscene if you are trying to buy a ticket at the window at the last minute.

A definite stop for any skier!

By Michael M |

The week I was at steamboat I had two bluebird days, one cloudy day and two power days so it was a good week. The mountain is big with multiple peaks that offer different terrain. I especially enjoyed the tree skiing off the back in morningside. The bars and restaurants on the mountain were nice with the expected pricing.
I stayed in town and took the local free bus to the mountain everyday which was quick and easy. The mountain is close to the Hayden airport which is small which makes it easy to get to.
Overall a good trip at a good mountain.

A ski resort with a perfect ski hill layout and runs

By Robert W |

Steamboat Ski Resort is one of the few perfect ski resorts.
The runs are amazing and has great runs for all levels with amazing snow are excellent grooming.

The village is huge and has a great selection.
The transportation from your lodging or the town to the ski resort is fantastic.

This place is much better than Copper Mountain and Winter Park and worth the extra drive from Denver City.

Back after 2 years, just as great

By LoveToTravelBoston |

How you enjoy a ski resort depends so much on the snow. Steamboat has lots of it, especially this year. Combine that with lots of up hill capacity, a wide range of trails and off-trail skiing, good food & drink on the mountain and friendly staff and you've got one of the best ski resorts in the country.
We're here as an older family, ages 30 - 60. Some of us look for tree skiing, some look for bump runs and others look for smooth, steep groomed slopes. You can probably guess which ages prefer which. Anyway, we're all happy at Steamboat. Lots of all of the above. We keep coming back.

Not a Top Resort

By Kundry |

I skied In Deer Valley, where I owned a condo, for 13 years. I was curious about other resorts and decided on Steamboat for it's consistently high ratings. Since this was my first time, I had questions about the different trails. There were no ambassadors to be seen and the lift operators have their own jobs to attend to, so they can't stand around talking with guests. The trails are poorly marked and I inadvertently ended up on trails I hadn't wanted to ski. The food needs improvement and the menu should offer more vegetarian options.
Airport transportation options to and from the resort are exorbitant!!!!!

Steamboat Ski trip

By Michelle Bedoya |

Amazing trip! Hospitality was awesome, felt Covid safe the entire time, food was fantastic! Skiing was even better.

Steamboat is The Best!!!

By lovedelishfood |

Not Fancy But Clearly the Best ... even during the holidays, this mountain never feels crowded and there are all different terrain to please everyone in your group! Ambassadors offer great advice for skiing as well as free clinics! Free tkts for kids and awesome ski schools & lessons for all ages ... fireworks, concerts, food ... only great things to say about Steamboat!! We exclusively ski here for over a decade (we took a detour one year and wish we hadn’t) ... it’s low key for a ski vacation yet offers VIP treatment everywhere!!

Fantastic alpine skiing with a back country feel!

By Laurie B |

We hit the jackpot with the champagne powder this weekend and it's always fun to enjoy the Steamboat tree runs! Everyone is friendly and the mountain is beautiful with all of the Aspen and Pine trees! One can feel all alone on the mountain with the number of tree runs available!

JUST SAY YES!

By Jennifer K |

Steamboat is an amazing resort with a ton of different terrain for all ski levels. There are lots restaurants and bars to keep you fueled during the day. Our favorite was Slope-side Bar and Grill. Just off the base to the left you can sit outside and watch people ski down. Super good food and cold beer!

Greedy intermediate mountain

By Eric_ski_and_bike |

Conditions weren't great when I was there, but I can't blame them on that, though grooming could have been better. Crowds on Saturday were pretty bad, thought they calmed down a bit after that. Not a lot of what I would call real expert terrain (I didn't go to the new Mahongany Ridge area due to the mediocre snow conditions and also not wanting to hike out) The biggest issue to me was their constant attempts to get more money out of skiers. I couldn't find a place (like a lodge) to change into my boots and store my boot bag, instead I had to rent a locker for $20 for the day. Overnight ski storage would have been another $20 (my primary mountain has a lodge where I can put on my boots, free daytime bag storage, and overnight ski storage is low cost). All the mountain lodges that I saw had signs saying outside food wasn't allowed, meaning, if you wanted to eat inside, spend money. It just got kind of wearing fairly quickly.

Great mountain

By heatherds |

Great family mountain and super friendly staff! Plenty of places to eat on the mountain, ski school instructors all very good, well run program. Lifts run well and there terrain for all levels and usually plenty of sunshine!

Best in the Wesst

By Michael L |

Steamboat ranks #1 for me for all around ski and resort in the west. I love the family atmosphere in town and on the mountain. It is easy to avoid the lift lines by skiing where everyone isn't. This year is another year that Steamboat has the best snow. The resort does a fantastic job of grooming and has bump runs to suit all skiers.

3 days of great skiing

By Brian M |

There was a ton of powder and plenty room for everybody to ski, even on a holiday weekend. All the employees were very courteous and the ski patrol was very professional

Good mountain, spoiled by bad management in crisis

By highlander001 |

Have enjoyed Steamboat for a couple of Seasons. Probably would have come back, but for the terrible way the parent company (Alterra) handling the Corona shutdown. Overnight; no warning. And worse, we were stuck in their company hotel (Steamboat Grand), which closed the dining room overnight with no notice. Some empty promises about refunds on paid accomodation. I submitted a claim almost 2 weeks ago and no word. No word on how they will reimburse seasons pass holders either.

Mediocre mountain, ultra premium prices.

By Seymoure B |

Steamboat prides themselves on being family friendly because they literally have nothing else to offer. Real mountains speak for themselves. The powder and tree skiing her can be good but powder is becoming more sporadic and trees are fun one day a year. It's far from anywhere, ridiculously expensive, and built up with ticky tack condos everywhere. The bus around town often runs an hour or more late and there are no taxis in town. Rideshare almost never except weekend nights. It is not a small mountain town like Park City or Breckenridge but really just kind of a dump in north central Colorado. Almost $300 for a lift ticket, group lessons an extra $500. Add first tracks to access the lifts up to an hour early and pay an additional $75. Don't forget another $50 or $75 for night skiing and you're ready for the most mediocre ski experience of your life.

Amazing

What a wonderful ski experience. Wyatt gave us an amazing tour of the mountain. Lots of different levels for every skiers ability. Will definitely ski again.

We enjoyed the week at Steamboat Ski Resort. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Our kids went ski school and loved the instructors. The resort was well laid out and had several areas to eat and shop.

Annual visit

By M H |

We have been coming to Steamboat for 14 years. We started coming because of their “Kids ski free” program. It’s beautiful in Steamboat. Just small enough and the mountain is very easy to navigate. My boys take off each morning and I see them after the slopes close! It’s friendly and quaint. I’ve been to other mountain ski towns but I LOVE Steamboat ! Housing, condos, food, lift tickets, ski rental is cheaper than the big popular places. Downtown Steamboat has great restaurants and fun shopping !!
If you have never been —GO! You will always want to go back!
Strawberry Hot Springs, Fish Creek Falls, Steamboat Snowmobile Tours, Saddleback Tubing and exploring downtown are great places to experience Steamboat! Fly into Hayden and it’s a short drive or shuttle or fly into Denver - 3 hour beautiful drive !!
Black Tie Ski Rental is the best! Safeway grocery is better than Walmart-cheaper than City Market.

Favorite place to ski

By Becky M |

If I had to choose a favorite Colorado ski resort, Steamboat is it. Even on a holiday weekend with 15 inches of fresh powder, lift lines were basically non-existent. There is so much terrain, feels like you're always exploring a new area.

Amazing

By rebeccabrabb |

We had an amazing time. My teen boys really enjoyed the ski school for snowboarding and really liked the teacher Gillian. She made it fun and interesting.

Awesome place, we love it

By SRG53 |

Have been to Steamboat many times over the last 30+ yrs and always come back. The mountain has something for everyone and snow is amazing. Mountain staff is very friendly from ticket office to lift operators.

Great user friendly mountain!

By sharitravelbug |

We love the atmosphere, and the people, and the customer service at Steamboat Springs ski resort.

Usually some of the best skiing in February!

Great ski area

By Travellots |

Steamboat is a great ski area. It is easy to navigate with runs for everyone. You can ski all day and take a different run each time. Lift attendants are friendly and attentive. The hosts are super nice and helpful.

What Happened?????

By AvidTraveler35 |

Everyone we encountered that worked for Steamboat mountain was the absolute worst. The customer service of every person we encountered was rude and dismissive. Luckily, we knew a ski instructor from previous years who is excellent, but every other encounter with everything from gondola operators to other ski school instructors was unbelievably rude and dismissive. We will not return.

Satisfaction Guaranteed!

By Dee T |

Wow! Steamboat is BEAUTIFUL and really has something for everyone! The “Bear Claw” is my new favorite place to stay! Phenomenal service and great views. Skiing in and out of the condo was a real blessing with all of our kids. The ski instructors here are amazing and showed our kids a great time. By the end of the day our youngest had made it further up the mountain than any of us and had never skied before. Her instructor, Peter H. is highly recommended! Our adult daughter had a ski instructor who competed in the Olympics twice. Thanks to all and kudos on the mask and Covid enforcement! Felt safe 100% of the time. 💯🙌

Ski School and First Tracks both disappointing and poor value

By Richelieu-Drouot |

I do not expect to pay an equivalent $200 per hour and rearrange my life for this downgraded “experience “. No signage “oh, we moved it to the other lift”. Great. Put up a sign that says so instead of making us wait in the wrong line with no info. No staff to ask questions of, they appear oblivious to guests. Also you can’t ski the Twilight trees anymore, it’s all boring runs on Sunnyside with worthwhile terrain off limits. A complete waste and another example of Steamboat getting worse and more expensive despite Alterra’s massive investment.

Ski school is massively overpriced compared to similar resorts and instructors are worse (cf Snowbird, Jackson, Taos are lots cheaper and better.) You’d think they’d at least pay the instructors something at a $1700 private lesson rate. I can heliski for that.

Sorry to write this as I generally like the resort and have property here.

Summer activities galore!

By WildthymeAZ |

Young families with strollers and dogs are playing in the stream at the base of the ski mountain. There is also a putt putt course and a roller coaster ride down the mountain. Folks come from surrounding condos to hang out in the red Adirondack chairs scattered around the lawn. And of course there are the hiking and mountain biking trails weaving all over the face of the ski area.

Beauty Is All Around...

By Brewster2014 |

What a beautiful place to visit. The snow was just beginning to pile up while I was there so I was unable to ski. However, that didn't hinder my trip, the hiking was absolutely amazing. Everywhere you look, beauty is all around! I can't wait to go back and ski, it will be amazing!!!

Did not disappoint

By Melissa B |

This was our first time in Steamboat, and it surpassed our expectations. Our adult kids skid 3 days, and my hubby and I skied one. Wish we’d had more time. Loved all the long easy runs....and the Gondola was pure magic.

Ski trip!

By sanman54 |

Brought daughter to learn to ski....her first trip. Best ski resort I’ve been to! Staff is everywhere and extremely helpful!!!

Very nice in Summer

By kellyandlarry |

We went in the summer and this whole area is buzzing with activities for the whole family. Gondola; Coaster ride; kiddie rides and jolly jumps; kids play in the slow stream running thru. Great Restaurants.

NBA reviews Steamboat Springs Ski Resort

By No Boundaries Adventures |

We went here the first week of February. Crowds were not a problem. Some morning congestion around Wild Blue Gondola, but dispersed as the day went on, leading to very little wait time anywhere on the mountain. Nice mix of terrain for our skill levels and we even got some night skiing in.

NICE RESORT, BUT CROWDED WITH QUEUES AND RATHER POOR SERVICE EVERYWHERE

By henristetter |

My wife and I are spending a month together in Steamboat in December 2018 and january 2019. We very much enjoy the resort, the base of the mountain, the gondola and some of the high altitude restaurants. It seems however that Steamboat has been over-marketed and therefore over-sold:
- there are queues everywhere. We went to Rendez-vouos, hazies and 4 Points for lunch and all these venues were crowded, somewhat messy and with long queues.
- most restaurants and facilities either have too few staff or poor service.
... this may be a ransom of success, but we feel that Steamboat has reached a delicate balance between a friendly, Western resort and another overcrowded, busy tourist town with poor levels of service...and yet, Steamboat is such a beautiful place and it has so much potential.

Poorly Managed

By C S |

Skied Steamboat Resort today. You might think after almost a year of COVID, their management would have things figured out. They do not. Weekends are out of control. Far more people than ski patrol could possibly handle if a lift needed to be evacuated IMO. I thought perhaps a weekday would be better. It was better than a weekend but not enjoyable. Still disorganized. This resort puts higher priority on restaraunt and shopping dollars than skiing.

Winter visit

By Park M |

Always a winter checklist. Wonderful resort supported by a true western town.....one of the last. Great lift system with good grooming and lots of different types of runs to choose from. Dinner on the mountain offers several high end experiences.

A bad experience

By Shelly W |

I am hoping this was just a bad day and not typical of the resort. The lines were huge for lift tickets and the gondola. The cashier knew nothing about lift ticket options and sold me the wrong ticket. The worst part of the day was when a child skied through the slow sign and hit me. He was in the ski school and the instructor just laughed and said" no harm". Really?? A bad experience all around. I don't think I'll go back.

Amazing spring ski and board vacation

By Mercedesct |

Lovely runs, super kid friendly and easy
Night skiing was a huge plus
Ski in/out as good as any we’ve visited anywhere
Saw moose and other wildlife

Snowboarding in steamboat

By Jordan O |

Steamboat is an excellent mountain while I was there we got a great amount of snow. I was not very impressed with the double black run there just cliff runs to flats. You got to be careful not to get caught at the bottom.

So much potential, but way too crowded

By Susan |

The crowds are unlike anything I have seen in Colorado. The lift lines on Friday-Monday were so offputting. Before you even got to the top of the mountain you felt like you had been corraled into a cattle car. But worse than that, when you did get to the top, the slopes themselves were crowded to the point of being unsafe. I saw mulitple collisions, not surprisingly.
This is a shame because the mountain is fun and varied. The grooming is good, but not great. Quality of snow in 2022-23 was great.

Beautiful area - good skiing for us (intermediate level)

By Rhonda P |

We enjoyed the experience of Steamboat Springs for the first time after Christmas. The staff was friendly, and the weather was great! Levels of skiing expertise were available where we were skiing. The runs were crowded at times, but we expected a large number of people.

Beautiful skiing in early December

By kelly C |

We rolled the dice and scheduled an early December trip to Steamboat Springs. Had over 1 foot of fresh snow and beat the crowds. Great prices into Yampa Valley Airport. Took Thunder Mtn. Shuttle directly to our condominium. I highly recommend Condos at Steamboat management company for finding lodging. Great service and super clean condominiums available.

Great Mountain and Friendly Staff

By JerryBerry |

My first visit to Steamboat and I enjoyed it to the fullest! The mountain has terrain for all ski levels and the staff is very friendly. I particularly was impressed with the staff in the ski rental shop below the Sheraton. Being that it was NYE, the rentals line was busy. There was a “I want to talk to the manager” type of customer in front of my party who did not have the patience to wait and be helped out. Kyleigh B (the manager on duty) took the initiative to grab everyone’s boot size and fill out the rental forms so the line could speed up. She was very calm throughout the entire situation. Just one example of the great employees who work here! How can you not love your job when you work in paradise??

Amazing resort

By Laura C |

No lift lines once you leave the base. Long beautiful runs. Something for everyone. Great restaurants. Lift ticket expensive but the mountain is huge. Holiday weekend and never felt crowed.

Always great skiing

By john |

Fantastic Resort. Varied terrain for all skiing abilities. Friendly atmosphere and without the large weekend crowds. Great apres ski for the afternoons at the base.

Eating on Mountain is expensive and fair

By BarryL |

Title says it all - food quality is all over the place and expensive - although seems the food at th gondola was pretty decent.

A visit to see our son interning in Craig, CO

By Rich6142 |

Top notch hotel/resort. It's obviously geared to those who ski, nevertheless there was plenty to do. The hotel is part of a larger resort complex, containing, among other summer amenities, a dirt bike trail, hiking trails and a miniature golf course. The commercial district is completely open with rafting, horseback riding, etc. While we were there there was a hot air balloon festival. Our room in the hotel was a mini-suite complete with a kitchen. Only negative was the fact that Marriott had purchased the hotel and it was undergoing significant renovations and so on site restaurant was not open. Also, be prepared for a sales pitch for Marriott's Vacation Club (no pressure - we went on our own because of the 20,000 free Mariott points). We almost committed because belonging does make sense if you tend toward luxury vacations annually. If you leave emotions and impulse actions back in your room and ignore the "if you sign up today" pitches, it might be worth looking into.

Steamboat Ski School is the BEST

By Dana T |

I'm delayed in writing a review for Steamboat from our March 2022 trip because we are actively planning our March 2023 trip, so it's now top of mind. Steamboat is a beautiful place, and I have to provide an especially rave review for adult ski instructor, Bridget Ross, who had a way of simplifying and making skiing fun for this adult learner. Thank you, Steamboat Ski School, and especially, Bridget!

Note: Our children also loved the kids' ski school. It was a great experience for all ages!

my fav in the USA

By mtxprim3 |

I love the mountain and the town, it my favorite ski resort in the US. this year had a LOT of snow, so it was superfun!

Beautiful Ski Town

By c0astalgirl |

So much to do here! Past the obvious of skiing, snowboarding etc., this small town had so many fun restaurants and activities we needed several extra days to do everything we wanted to do. Managed to experience music, snowmobiling, horse drawn sleigh ride and did I mention shopping in town!

Great time at steamboat

By Joncd |

We spent 2 weeks here. The slopes offer a diverse range of difficulty with few queues for lifts. The town is quaint and there is a wide variety of restaurants. We would definitely return.

Summertime Fun!

By Chris L |

Great place to visit in the summer! We took advantage of the chair lift ride up and back down; you have access to mountain bike trails from the top or hikes if you wish. We also took part in the mountain coaster which was great fun.
The patio area was bustling with activities, music was playing and it was quite festive. There is a stream running through and the kids were playing in the water. Shops were open as well as restaurants.

A family favorite!

By Karena H |

We get up to Steamboat for skiing at least once a year. The views are stunning, we love the glade/tree skiing, and when the powder is fresh, it just doesn't get any better than Steamboat!!

Made our ski trip perfect!

By nikki1232008 |

Our friends try to do a group ski trip every year and this year we decided to switch it up and check out Steamboat. We got very lucky and they had just gotten 2 feet of snow in 48 hours! The app is so cool to track where you've been and vertical feet but the maps to steamboat are a little confusing and takes just a little to get used to. We went back into the Morningside area and it was amazing with the fresh powder. Be aware however, night skiing is NOT included on your regular day lift ticket, you have to buy one separate and we wish they would have made that clearer. Other than that, great experience and definitely will consider coming back again!

Excellent Skiing

By MMiller53 |

Fabulous conditions great skiing, beautiful views.
MLK weekend a little busy but crowds thinned out monday and ski down jump on lift back up ...repeat. Staff excellent

wonderful first time skiing in the West!

By mark h |

Steamboat is a great mountain, lots of different terrain. never seemed crowded even on weekend we skied. It snowed every night we were there, 6 inches one night. Some of the best conditions I've skied. My 3 grandsons never have skied like this!

Nice resort. Good for family. The new gondola for 2019 will be a welcome addition to offset the long gondola lines.

Clean ,close ,beds super comfy , staff amazing!!
Free Shuttle to gondola and town !!
Rexs restaurant next door
Awesome food !!
Will go again

Beautiful mountain!

By Portia I |

We very much enjoyed our weekend in Steamboat. We kicked it off with the Bridgestone Winter driving school, which was one of the coolest things that I have ever done. We finished with a few beautiful sunny days on the slopes and a few drinks at T-Bar. Great vibe on this mountain.

Beautiful place but tricky skiing terrain

By Careful Skiier |

I have skied here two times at different times of the season and both times have hit debris under the snow. The last time I hit something, possibly an ice chunk, I ended up with a concussion and had to get a CT scan. I was unable to ski after that which put somewhat of a damper on my ski vacation. I may go back but will be very cautious about where I am asked to ski in a lesson and the conditions of the trail.

Awesome Skiing

By lostntravel |

Our son suggested we try Steamboat for our family’s ski vacation, and we couldn’t have been happier. The skiing was wonderful, love the trails that offered something for everyone. We plan on making this our families go to place!

Best skiing in Colorado!!! Tons of snow!!!

By Phil G |

Great ski resort for all abilities, wonderful ski school, comfortable easy to get on and off gondola and ski lifts. Beautiful mountain, tons of snow and everyone is friendly and nice. Comfortable accommodations walking distance to slopes. Totally recommend for families!!!

Skiing 2020

By Pat H |

Very fun, good mix of trails and conditions were great. On mountain food was very good. Gondola square area also offered great apres-ski.

Great ski resort

By Plano_TexasGeorge |

Snow and skiing were excellent for early season (Dec 22-Jan 4). So many groomed blue and black runs to chose from. Gondy line short before 9:30 and after 11, should get better with faster gondola for next year. New Torch and Timber at base is ice with outside bar. Lots of friendly staff around to answer questions. Good food choices up the mountain at Rendezvous and 4 Points. Stoker bar at gondola top has excellent happy hour.

Fun stuff to do during the summer months

By 2thesea |

I love taking visitors to the resort base for all kinds of fun during the summer. The highlight is typically the Outlaw Mountain Coaster, but also enjoy happy hour prices for a refreshing beverage while sitting near the stream. Also the views from the top via the chairlift are worth checking out.

Great ski resort (and beginner friendly)

By Julia K |

Great ski resort - lots of beginner friendly trails, and though crowded at times, you can usually spread out among the lift/mountain terrain to get to less crowded areas. Would recommend getting there a little past opening, as it is quite crowded as folks are waiting for the first run. Definitely very pricey, but sadly that seems to be the case with a lot of resorts out west now.

Superb

By Pat C |

Our second visit, and Steamboat just keeps getting better. Friendly staff, fantastic facilities and awesome slopes for our beginner to intermediate levels

Wait for COVID to End

By Stacy T |

It's hard to fault the resort when the weather refuses to cooperate, but the lack of snow coupled with the COVID restrictions made this the single worst skiing experience yet. It didn't help that the resort seemed to make every effort to create additional challenges to show they are on top of COVID, just in case the poor conditions and additional restrictions were not enough. My favorite example was the rollercoaster, which my son loves and is inevitably a part of our Steamboat ski experience. The attraction is located in a separate area, past the entry point for one of the lifts. Inevitably you have trudged out there with ski boots on at the end of your ice skating/ski runs down the hill only to find that you cannot purchase tickets at the roller coaster "because of COVID". So you will then trudge down inside the village to get tickets, waiting in line indoors where you could actually contract COVID, in order to get your tickets for the rollercoaster. You bombed this one, Steamboat. The only reason I'd ever go back will be my son wearing me down because he loves that roller coaster. Until then, we're going to Montana. . . .

prices are getting out of hand!

By Kestrel |

$700 for a 3 hour lesson, then add your lift tickets....fun but WOW !
the choke point nears...thank goodness for all the snow this year; much better than last.

Beware Base Camp Ski Lessons

By Leon P |

Let me say firstly Steamboat Springs has been mostly an amazing experience and coming all the way from Australia it literally is a Winter Wonderland!! However as a first time skier / snowboarder I was definitely in need of some tuition. I decided to head to Base Camp at the bottom of the mountain to purchase a private snowboarding lesson to avert any early disasters. The lady at the desk quoted me $585 US Dollars for a 5 hr lesson which although crazy expensive I could justify it as the price I needed to pay to at least gain basic skills . This is where it all went wrong the lesson was good and the instructor very pleasant , however out of a five hour lesson we broke for lunch for an hour which was strongly recommend by my instructor I didn't actually realise that hour was being taken out of the lesson and when I found out I had actually been charged $755 US Dollars for the lesson , I definitely wouldn't have paid $250 Aussie dollars to eat lunch with a stranger lol....The $755 was also a suprise and definitely not what I was quoted so when I went back into the office to ask about this I was shown a brochure which did in fact have $755 price tag and basically told too bad ! So here is my warning for people wishing to take lessons here be extremely cautious when quoted prices ask to see brochures and double check as I never would have paid $1000 Australian Dollars for 4hrs of basic training .....and make sure you ask whether you are being charged while you take breaks at your instructors request as it seems ludicrous to be laying $250 an hour for someone's lunch break. I would highly recommend YouTube tutorials or finding a friend with a little knowledge over ridiculously over priced basic instruction. Base Camp definitely left a bad taste in what otherwise has been a wonderful experience.

Steamboat rocks

By movtcharova |

We were in steamboat for Spring Break, skied with our kids and friends. Great slopes, great terrain, friendly staff. I loved how from the minute we landed at the airport Steamboat ambassadors were there with trail maps and information. The kids loved the free hot chocolate and donuts at the gondola in the afternoons. Even in a season when CO didn't get as much as snow as usual, there was plenty of good powder on the mountain.
Ski lessons were great.
Just a lovely place to take your family.

Ski Trip

By Amber J |

Great powder which made for fabulous skiing conditions. Had a blast. Food options were spectacular as well. Will definitely visit this ski town again.

One of the best

By travelmaven_7 |

This was my second visit to Steamboat Springs Ski resort. My first was in 2011.

It still looked the same, except lift ticket prices have gone up quite a bit. I have an IKON Pass, so it was convenient for me.

Lots of nice wide open runs. There is also plenty of free parking with shuttle service to the resort.

Great snow

By Grussingtravels |

We lucked out getting here when lots of great snow hit. We will be skiing for 3 days throughout the week. So far we have really enjoyed the mountain. We’ve never got to experience a gondola and it was nice to get a break from the wind. We will plan to visit here again in the future when our daughter is out on skis.

summer in steamboat is fun for everyone

By CoSparrow |

Whether you are a family with young kids, or teens, outdoor-loving families will enjoy a getaway in Steamboat during the summer.

The ski resort has mountain biking, a "roller coaster" hiking, shops and restaurants. Downtown Steamboat has great places to eat, enjoy micro beers, as well as easy access to the hot springs and much more. During the week, even busy weeks, the town still feels like a quiet Country Town. Weekends can get busy and traffic can get crowded but there's so much to do you'll never run out of Adventures.

Amazing overall experience

By John Doe |

I decided to snowboard here back in February 2021. I was already excited as my friend who had been said amazing things about the place. We went up on a Wednesday so the crowds were manageable. The thing that stood out though is the staff went above and beyond to make my experience a great one. When I got off the main gondola from the base I was asked to put on a mask (understandable, mid covid at a ski resort) but the guy went out of his way to ask in a really nice and calm tone. Right after that as I was putting on my bindings another staff member recommended I try something different with my setup. I tried it and have been riding my board that way ever since.

Fantastic Family-Oriented Resort

By Jenny-Jetset |

Beautiful views across the valley from the top of the mountain. Long ski runs and a variety of terrains. Gondola line in the morning is long. Once on the mountain, it seemed like there were a good amount of chairs and the lines were short. Staff on the slopes and in services surrounding the slopes were super friendly.

Most lifties are not personable as in the past

By Park M |

We love the mountain and availability of food and beverage support throughout. Yet, the attitude of the lifties has changed. We generally say goodmorning while loading and most lifties don't respond. For the most part, the South American employees seem extremely aloof. Too good! I stopped snd asked an older lifty what's up...and the response was...yeah, we know...but they hate their jobs. So sad, as it used to be a totally enjoyable experience. Also, the younger lifty crowd at Christie Peak care more about playing with each other and not paying attention to safety and newbie skiers.

Steamboat Ski Resort Has Skiing for All Levels

By stardustdrive |

I found the Steamboat Gondola to Thunderhead Lodge a quick ascent to some great champagne powder found on many beginner and intermediate trails. There were trails for all skill levels, and I never tired from the variety of runs and restaurants on the slopes.

$189.00 per person + tax

By ventureahighway |

You read right.
It is now $189.00 per person, per day plus tax to ski.
Adding extra days DOES NOT lower daily cost.

Great in Winter AND Summer!

By Justin H |

Great restaurants and bars at the base! Convenient hotels and places to stay on site as well. Free buses around town.

Steamboat Springs Ski Instructor

By Michelle K |

As a family of four (2 adults and 2 tweens) we spent a week in Steamboat Springs and had an absolute blast! We stayed at the Grand which was a lovely accommodation that is walking distance to the slopes. There are several places to eat at the base. We favoured the patio outside at the Sheraton called Saddles. Kids loved the pizza!

We had a brilliant ski instructor named Laura Fisher. We skied with her for four days as a family. We skied as a family in the morning then my husband and I left Laura with the tweens after lunch for the afternoon as we were too tired to keep up! The kids had a blast and they definitely improved their skiing too!

Great customer service, great quality food, and great trail grooming and terrain for families

By Cyril L |

We spent February 2019 ski vacation with 4 families of avid skiers ranging from intermediate to expert skiers and all really enjoyed the overall mountain experience. We had an issue with our pre reserved tickets we had bought online and the supervisor, Lee at the customer service desk resolved our issue in a friendly and very accommodating manner, despite the fact that it was our mistake. Definitely a very customer service oriented ski resort with high quality ski experience, food & dining in the mountain lodges, friendly and efficient lift attendants, and a wide variety of terrain for skiers of all abilities. Great overall mountain that rivals other top notch ski resorts across North America. Steamboat, I’ll be back

Look around and be thankful you live in Colorado, no Comfort suites here. Bring some money and live like the rest of us here in Colorado.

Big Mountain Lots People Mostly Intermediate

By Jerry B |

The grooming is really good but snow was lacking. there are a lot of intermediate runs, mostly intermediate but as stated really good grooming for that ability. the worst thing was the fact you cant see the mountain at the bottom due to all the development and the lift ticket was very much over priced. Better value at other ski areas. Took lot of extra effort to get to harder runs, the good was due to the difficulty had them alone a lot. that was fun.

Wonderful vistas!

By goobagooba |

Three from our group of four skied 3 days mainly on the greens (some greens here would be blues in Breck). Be sure to check the live-cams if your location gets socked in with clouds. Conditions vary widely. We had fresh powder every day.

Lots of snow

By Chris H |

It was snowing most of my time here. The skiing was good and the town was nice. We were expecting $150/day lift tickets they ended up being $198. The towns public transportation made it easy to get to the hill from the hotel.

This was my third visit for one week of skiing

Great Skiing

By Carlos T |

It's been a long time since skiing at this resort and the overall experience was very good. The staff at ski resort were helpful and attentive to your needs . The trails are in great shape! The ski resort ski trails are nearly at 100% open! Just be aware that a one day ski pass is expensive.! The slopes are in great shape!

great mtn after big snow, prior to dump of 12-16 inches runs were limited without trees available. after new snow and trees in play, as if twice the mountain. great tree spacing and pitch to mtn. on mtn dining fair and crowded at spring break

Amazing friendly skiing

By Veuve99 |

Fabulous first ski resort to visit from Australia. Such a friendly welcoming place. Loved the Mountain Masters - great chance to have a guide show you around the mountain. Everyone was so helpful, great restaurants, lifts, retail.

Great all-around mountain for snow skiing of any level!

By Douglas P |

They have a high speed gondola that take 8-9 minutes to get to mid-mountain which gets very busy in the morning so sometimes the best option is to take the Christie lift then ski over to Thunderhead Express then to Four Points to get on the back side of the mountain. Typically the best runs for intermediate and beginners is the south side of the ski resort under the Sunshine and Sundown high speed quad chairlifts. There are plenty of places to get food and beverages and all good but busy during lunch. I have been here 5-6 times over past number of years. As a rule, try NOT to go over President's Weekend or New Year's -- VERY busy! One of the best parts of riding is that you do NOT have to remove or even show your lift ticket. They have readers that can scan it through your clothing. Just don't put it near your cell phone.

More Expensive and Fewer Trails than Vail/Beaver Creek

By Tom D |

Steamboat has very nice snow and some attractive runs, but it is somewhat small and more difficult to get to, especially when the weather is bad, than any of the I-70 corridor areas like Vail and Beavercreek. Also, the lift tickets, which are pretty expensive everywhere, are about 30% more expensive than the I-70 areas that offer more trails, better scenery, and easier access. It is true that the town of Steamboat is 'less commercial' so if that is your thing, fine; and the people of Steamboat are very nice and small town, which is a plus. But based just on skiing, I think there are better places.

Not A Lot To Offer

By eatwell2live |

With short runs, little vertical, limited variety, inattentive staff, huge weekend crowds, and mediocre grooming, Steamboat just doesn’t have much to offer when there are so many excellent ski options in Colorado. Even the ski patrol seemed disinterested. We ran out of mountain to ski by day 2. The mountain layout is not intuitive, leading to short runs and too many lift rides. Even the city of Steamboat Springs is disappointing when compared to other ski towns. Really, with so many excellent options in Colorado go elsewhere to spend your ski days or ski vacations.

Great Skiing but no seating at Lodges

By Heather M |

Amazing powder and lift lines weren't too crowded for the amount of snow.

One thing I will not understand is why these big resorts that host thousands of people can't seem to build larger lodge with more seating accommodations. I have been to almost every resort in CO and every-time we have an issue with seating and having to leave because we are hungry but there is absolutely no where to sit.

Great skiing!

By Don M |

An enjoyable and very friendly resort with a wide variety of ski runs and difficulty levels. Lodged are very nice.

Great out of the crowds ski mountain

By Joyce T |

Steamboat ski area has plenty of terrain for beginners to experts, snowboarders and skiers. After hour activities are great even in the winter. There is a rock climbing wall, roller coaster over the ski slopes, outdoor concerts, fireworks on Friday nights.

We really enjoyed Steamboat. The skiing was great with lots of snow. The elevation of the resort area is at about 6k feet so it was a little easier to get adjusted to it compared to some of Colorado’s other ski resorts.

My local spot..what more to say

By Chris H |

People say this resort is flat....Absolutely not true..even more so if you tap a local with knowledge..Consistently high inches of snow per year. Best powder in the Rockies..Best tree skiing in the country. 300 days of sunshine per year in Colorado. A nice base area that caters mostly to families....Some resorts do a better job catering to all people. Did I mention the mountain biking? Fantastic ride up and lift accessed trails in the summer..but the base area can be quiet then...

Nice resort, fun area

By jctravelgirl |

We came during spring break and bought 3 day springalicious passes at a good price early $155pp. Since there was good snowfall this year, skiing has still been good up the mountain. On some of the green runs and runs near the base it's heavy slushy snow. Higher up, the snow is good with many trails to pick from. We skied right up to all the lifts with no wait.

The scenery is beautiful and people at lofts were all nice. My daughter panicked once and ski patrol came right away to help her down a run.

There are lockers up the stairs to rent for $8 or $12 large that you can enter multiple times that day. We did that once.

They did appear to have equipment storage overnight which would be convenient but didn't want to pay $10pp x 4.

We did eat lunch 1 day for me and my two teens at the mid mountain food court style place (Thunderhead lodge I think) and each got chicken tenders with fries, 1 juice box, 1 power aid, 1 vitamin water = $61. They did have a gluten free pizza for $12 individual size or regular slices for about $9. A burger and fries will set you back $14-$18. Drinks even bottled water are all $4.95. There is a hydration station near the bar with free water and cups. The food cost is simply outrageous though! I knew it would be high but that's obscene pricing. Day 2 we didn't give them any more money and didn't pay for a locker at $12 either. If it was reasonable, we would have eaten there again.

The free buses will take you there and your equipment either from nearby condo bus stops or from the free parking lots with a free shuttle. There looks to be an underground ramp near the front of the resort but I doubt it's free.

I love to ski, but these resorts just suck out your money. It makes it hard to go very often. One guy said his wife got a group lesson at $235pp and a private lesson runs $900. FYI bring LOTS of $$

A great ski resort

By peter c |

My wife and I spent five days at the Steamboat ski resort staying at the Sheraton Hotel. There are two chairs and a gondola all located within about a 40-50 yard walk from the hotel. Lift lines were no more than five minutes (we skied Monday thru Friday) and once you were half way up with the gondola you had a number of trails (I think 169) and lifts along with a restaurant near the top of the mountain and a number of eating facilities at the gondola. Snow was abundant with fresh powder every single day. The city has great restaurants. A fine experience.

Fun, lots of activities so close

By Nomad400362 |

We stayed on the mountain but went to town often since it was so close. Groceries are close and reasonable.

A week of family fun

By wonderwoman |

We skied here for 6 days and although we did not experience a huge powder dump (it snowed only 4 inches during our stay) we truly enjoyed exploring the mountain. The runs aren’t super steep and strong intermediates like myself had no problem going down the black runs. My favorite areas were the Triangle gladed run off of Storm Peak Express and the The Ridge gladed area off the Morningside Lift. Pockets of soft powder in those areas. Lift lines were very minimal and we spent less than a couple of minutes waiting for a chair. Food options on the mountain and at the base were pretty good. We enjoyed eating at Timber and Torch and the Thunderhead Lodge. Kids Vacation Club was a great experience for my five year old son. After 5 full days of lessons, he went from skiing pizza to skiing parallel and learned to hockey stop. The lessons cost us a pretty penny; however, it was worth it since he won’t listen to my husband for skiing tips! The instructors were really great with him. Since we all have the full IKON pass the money we saved from daily lift tickets($225 daily ticket) was spent on lessons for him. Overall, I recommend Steamboat as a great family ski destination.

Take a free mountain tour!

By Kristy C |

My sister and I are recently retired and although we are advanced skiers, we don't always know the best places on the mountain to ski. That has changed since we took the mountain ski tour and then the mountain masters tour (for those of us over 50, and advanced skiers) We so enjoyed our tour guides, Kathy, Curtis R, Jerry and Jeff. We feel like locals now! (And plan to return often)

Fun ski resort

By elisea746 |

Decent snow and a fun place to ski. The Gondola is perfect to download after skiing our legs off at higher elevations. Always on the list to return

Great skiing

By Smsafety1 |

We had a wonderful time skiing over Christmas break. The lift tickets were very expensive but the mountain was in great condition. Highly recommend the outlaw mountain coaster it was super fun.

Steamboat is my favorite Colorado resort!

By Jennifer G |

Excellent place to visit with family- and the skiing is epic. The snow is perfect and the park is huge.

So much fun!

By Abigail R |

We absolutely loved it here!
Took a snowboarding lesson and AJ was awesome! If you want someone who knows what they are doing and gives pointers, he is the man.
Staff was super friendly and helpful! My favorite bartender was JC! That dude has spunk!
My only complaint was the ticket office, but I understand they are dealing with countless customers. Customer service and knowledge could have been better by the manager. I was told one thing the day before and something different the next day. No worries, the nice desk lady helped and was trying her best.
Can’t wait to come back next year!

Great place to ski

By Antonia D |

We love Steamboat! We have been skiing there for 14 years. Awesome value. Kids ski free, Great restaurants and awesome mountain. So many fantastic places to stay. You will be so happy you went.

Steamboat Ski review

By Frank P |

The Steamboat resort is well run and the employees are all very friendly and helpful. the mountain has 169 runs and has something for all levels of skier ability. The snow here is consistently good year after year.

Steamboat Colorado!

By Jerrod D |

Most beautiful restaurant over looking the slopes, and of course the old historic town of steamboat!one of the best places to just get away , and enjoy the peaceful rocky mountains! The Yampa river runs through the town and has some of the best fishing north of the town towards elk river ! Make sure you check the specifications ...

Great day skiing with the trees

By Kim A |

We normally ski the Epic resorts but decided to try something different. steamboat didn’t disappoint. They had a lot of snow for the last week of March and lots of tree runs that aren’t packed too tight. We will come back.

Great skiing but WAY OVER PRICED

By Ted K |

This is our second trip to Steamboat. Unfortunately, the weather gods did not smile too favorably on us but no one has control over that aspect of any trip. I have to agree with the reviewer that the price of lift tickets ARE OBSCENE!!!. $199.00 per day is insane. We had IKON passes and made it slightly more palatable but honestly, if the price of lift tickets keep going up, more and more people are going to give up this sport.

No matter what your level of expertise, Steamboat has runs for every type of skier or snowboarder. If you happen to luck out on a day when Steamboat gets blessed with its famed champagne powder, be prepared for two things, first, absolute insanity at the gondola lift line. It seems like every skier and snowboarder in a 50 mile radius descends on the mountain. The second is you will have great time skiing and snowboarding.

Ski School is Worth It!

By Derek W |

My wife and I went out to Steamboat in February for a week. While I have spent my entire life skiing, this was my wife's first time so I looked into Steamboat's Ski School as a way to introduce her to the sport. I am so glad I did. We signed her up for a full-day 'never skied before' beginner lesson. She had Rob Mattern as her instructor, and he was fantastic. She learned all of the basics and was skiing greens by the end of the day. By the end of the week she was skiing blues confidently. Thank you Steamboat Ski School for helping my wife fall in love with skiing!

Moonlight snowshoe dinner

By Jeff S |

This review is about the Moonlight Snowshoe Dinner activity offered by Steamboat Ski Resort. You might have to search for it on their website. We did this on a Friday night in January, 2020. I can't recommend this enough. You meet a Steamboat ambassador at the welcome center around 5:30, get set up with included snowshoes, take the gondola to the top of Thunderhead and started on the snowshoe portion of the evening. You go around various roads near the Elkhead and BC lift terminals. Very interesting being up on the mountain after dark. Ambassador will tell you many stories about Steamboat history and the lore of the area. You return to Thunderhead for a dinner at Hazie's, which I will review separately (but it's great.) Price is excellent for what you get, but it's even lower if you are a pass-holder. The activity level of the snowshoe isn't too bad -- not flat but not killer either. Just basic mountain-hiking level of exertion.

❄️ Best snow ❄️

By MelMaui |

Colorado snow is the best! Steamboat was awesome, easy to get around, nice runs. Lift lines move quickly parking was easy and lots of restaurant options to choose from. First time here and I’ll definitely come back!

Steamboat Summer Fun

By Sarah S |

We came here and did it up. First we tubed, which was fun. You never knew when you would spin. One of my sons did the walk on water, which is the big hamster ball on a pool of water you get in and walk/run (fall). Next he did the trampoline bungee jump. We went to Gondola Joe's and redeemed the passes for root beer floats we got with the tickets, but they were out of a lot of their sodas. My boys ended up getting an orange float and a lemon Coke float! We skipped the climbing wall and went to a jumpy castle place. We next took the chairlift ride up (especially beautiful and we saw a lovely buck) with the intention of hiking down, but my son realized he had left his backpack at the jumpy castle place, so we took the gondola back down and raced to lost and found. (They had it.) Next we mini golfed on the prettiest course ever. Finally, we did the mountain coaster. Fun! It was crowded when we were there so there were pretty long lines for the tubing, trampoline bungee jump, the walk on water, and the mountain coaster, of course.

A fun mountain and nice change

By Aikane B |

Although I would classify the ski mountain as “small” (we normally ski in Snowmass), it was a really fun time. Even the really long lift lines did not dampen the overall experience. Many of the runs were groomed and there is a nice mixture of blue/black runs at the top, with a few greens mixed in for the family/newbie. I will say my only negative was the sheer number of people skiing out of control, I don’t think I have ever witnessed quite that much. It certainly made me avoid that side of the mountain. I thought the on-mountain restaurants had good meal selections (esp. for someone with a restricted diet, like me) and the outdoor seating was excellent! The base was a really fun spot to grab a drink and listen to live music while sitting next to a fire pit. Our group even saw moose clopping down the street! We did eat lunch one day at the Sheraton, the food was quite good and different from the on-mountain options, and a little cheaper, but they had a huge fire pit and wonderful bar area to relax in. For dinners, we mostly cooked but did eat out in the town one night at Low Country Kitchen, ok but not great. A must try is the Coaster at the base village! It’s a one/two person coaster that is between a few of the runs and the half-pipe. It was a ton of fun and something unique. Overall, a fun time in Steamboat!

One of my favorite places to visit

By travelgal1994 |

We have not been here for a few years and to come back and feel “at home” the trails familiar the restaurants awesome and the friendly folks!
Ok yes the snow is amazing! As well as the mountains! If you have small children this is the place for skiing!!

Great ski trip!

By KStaterWillTravel |

We had a fabulous instructor, Leon, and my 2 teenage daughters learned to ski very quickly. The snow was fantastic and we had fun. A gondola ride up the mountain for lunch was a great way to see the landscape and relax. Staff on lifts very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our trip!

Not pet friendly.

By Frank A |

I was working in the area and my dogs were nervous and would bark when a new person would park and I was asked to take them to work with me or to leave. Very unprofessional and waste of money. These people are NOT dog friendly despite their claims.

Excellent Ski Instruction

By Tropical Vacation |

Mike Malone is the best ski instructor with whom I have ever skied, and I have now skied with many. He is world class. When I visited Steamboat a few years ago, I was an inexperienced skier. As a result, I just assumed our experience with Mike was the norm for private lessons.

I showed up in Steamboat with only three days of experience from a year prior, and it was my wife’s first time skiing. I had booked one day of private lessons to get my wife comfortable, but she needed a little more help so I booked Mike for the rest of our trip. (We were super lucky he was not booked)

I would spend the mornings skiing with Mike. (My wife liked to sleep in). After three days, he had me skiing blacks with confidence. It actually felt somewhat easy. I was just using the same skills on blacks that I had been developing while skiing easier runs. He had me moving from edge to edge with pretty good tempo.

My wife’s biggest problem was fear. But, Mike got her skiing. She skied every day. She even skied a few blue runs. (Well, she kind of skied blue runs. She made it down with Mike skiing the run backwards in front her while she held onto a ski pole he was holding as a cross bar—amazing!) She was skiing greens on her own while still having fun.

Here is the best and worst part of this review. Since that trip, my wife and I have had multi-day private lessons at four other high end ski resorts. My wife would make an effort on day 1, but she would give up after an hour or two. Skiing is not her thing, but I am 100% convinced she would have learned to love it if we had just spent this additional time with Mike.

I have picked up a few things skiing with pros at other resorts, and I have a lot more experience than I did, but I still believe I did my most technically proficient skiing a few years back in Steamboat.

Great winter spot

By Jktchorne |

Obviously, we did not ski in August but I have many times during the winter. It a great ski resort. My kids have all gone ski school here and loved it. Highly recommend it! It all can be very expensive so budget well.
As a skier I stick to green and blue runs since I am not all great a skiing. Most my family snowboards and do harder runs then me.

Family Ski trip

By hollihan256 |

Great ski resort. Walking distance from Condo (Dulany at the Gondola) to Steamboat Ski Resort. Transit service to downtown (Red Line!) with beautiful mountain views and tons of sun & snow!

Summer Fun For All Ages

By jaybeeFL |

Highlight was the mountain coaster speeding downhill with its many turns and hair raising drops! Kids of all ages (we were 7, 44, and 75) can enjoy this venue. They also have the chairlift, dry tube run, mini golf, bungee jumping, rock climbing to name a few of the other options available. All staffed by friendly, helpful folks. You can purchase an all day all activities ticket for $59.95 (adult) and $49.95 (child). Get the coupon in the guide book and get a $5 discount on each ticket. Best to do this during the weekdays as weekends get very busy. We did it on Monday and had little or no wait time for any of the activities.

Best Colorado Ski Town

By Lisa R |

This is my 6th time skiing at Steamboat and the service of the ski hill staff is amazing. Everyone is extremely helpful, friendly and curtious. Excellent terrain for all levels of skiing and the lift operators are excellent! The staff is trained better than the Disney people.

Good Trip

By Southerngirl |

As others have mentioned, the price of lift tickets is absurd - $200/day! Book online at least 7 days prior to receive a discount - we weren't aware of this. We were here for a full week and the weather wasn't the best, which is out of anyone's control - from several very cold, low visibility days with snow to a bright, sunny day at the end of the trip. Many runs remained ungroomed & a few were icy. The mountain wasn't too crowded until Friday, when lines were long and runs were congested. Food on the mountain was good. Mountain staff was just ok - a few were quite friendly, but most said nothing at all. Scenery is beautiful and a nice variety of runs. There are several parking options: we chose the free lot which had frequent shuttles to the base area. Plenty of dining options at the base as well as an on mountain food truck (snowcat)! Our family had a great trip and would certainly return to Steamboat.

Best Ski Trip !

By lucius o |

We visited Steamboat in January and couldn’t be happier with the whole family experience. As you’d expect at a resort location everyone is friendly and keen to help.

The skiing was epic fresh powder long time and minimal waiting times.

Highly recommend !!!!

Tried other locations but always come back

By Curt S |

We’ve tried other ski resorts over the years but always come back to Steamboat for the laid back atmosphere and superior facilities and trails. There is something there to challenge all levels of skiers from beginners to back country. The staff at all of the facilities are professional, friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a great place for family and children this is the place. When you tire of skiing try all the other activities in the area. We’ve gone snowmobiling, horse back riding, dog sledding and made the trek to the hot springs in the mountains. More things to do than time to do it.

Unprofessional and Unsettling Experience with Ski Patrol

By Meander33185332275 |

I had an extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience with a ski patrolman named Kevin during my recent snowboarding trip. Instead of offering assistance, he made condescending remarks that made me feel anxious and unwelcome on the mountain.

At one point, he said, “The amount of times you’re falling, you won’t get off the mountain until 8 PM” (it was only 3:50 PM), followed by “I have a family to get home to,” as if I was an inconvenience rather than a guest at the resort. He also told my friend, “Go wait for her at the bar,” completely dismissing my struggle instead of providing support.

To make matters worse, Kevin started arguing with us about how expensive it was for him to be there, implying that our presence was somehow a burden to him. We reminded him that we had paid $300 per ticket to be there, yet he continued to make us feel unwelcome and as if we were inconveniencing him. His hovering, close proximity, and unprofessional attitude made me feel nervous and unsafe rather than supported.

This was an incredibly frustrating experience, and I hope the resort takes action to ensure their staff treats guests with respect and professionalism.

Great Skiing-long powder runs and lines were not long.

By jean t |

Wonderful ski resort in fun community with excellent restaurants. The runs ski runs are long and the snow was perfect in February! The lines were not long considering the powdery snow on the mountain. Will definitely come back to ski and stay for a few more days. Its worth the 3.5 hour drive from Denver Airport.

Ideal family ski resort

By Mfandml |

Laid back non pretentious, excellent terrain and champagne powder. The ski school is expert at teaching children beginning at age three

Magical Ski Experience

By Anonymous |

I skied Steamboat on a powder day and my life was changed. A local buddy took me to No Names and it was the best powder and cliff skiing I've skied in Colorado so far. The resort is nice and the gondola square has nice shops and a lot of employees to help you with questions. I was surprised how few runs are groomed there, really only the main blues and greens to get you down from the top. Overall great experience, I love coming to Steamboat and finding that powder!

Nice week with our club

By Marilyn A |

Our ski club spent a week out at Steamboat. Good skiing, snow that came the last two days made it even better. Fun activities around the Olympics that were going on.

Excellent mountain and friendly staff

By Jeremy F |

One of our favorites resorts in Colorado. Extremely disappointed they started blacking out the resort over most local’s long weekends.

Love Steamboat

By DKISS76 |

We chose Steamboat because of the location and the proximity to the airport. The ease of flying into an airport and having a 30 minute drive to get to the mountain and resort was a high priority for us. The ski resort is nice, the lift lines were not long and the trails well groomed. It has a nice amount of easy runs and more difficult runs. There is a run for everyone.

Steamboat

By Varina Karen C |

Plenty to see and do while in Steamboat Springs.. Fish Creek Falls was spectacular.. Bruce's Trail for sledding, and many local favorites for any meal

We had a fun week skiing at Steamboat

By SeeTheW0rld62 |

This was our first time skiing at Steamboat and it was a lot of fun. We skied for 4 days. We spent the first day figuring out which lifts and runs we liked best. I'm not a fan of moguls and at first the steep runs I saw were all moguls. Later we found steep runs that had been flattened out, they were fun. There's a good variety of terrain for skiers of all abilities. I heard that they pass out free donut holes at the end of the day but we didn't see anyone handing them out.

Awesome ski resort!

By Kim H |

By far my best ski experience in the U.S. SUPER friendly and helpful staff. Not crowded at all. New gondola is fabulous. Groomed runs exceptional. As a solid intermediate skier I had a wonderful experience.

Amazing

By Lizbeth K |

GO to Steamboat if you want great skiing, authentic location, lovely accommodations, easy on/off mountain, yummy food, fun apres ski, quaint town with fun shops, and super friendly and helpful people that embrace tourists. Love the BOAT!

One of the few perfect ski resorts

By Robert W |

Fantastic runs with lots of snow and perfect grooming. Much better than Copper Mtn and Winter Park. Definitely worth the extra drive from Denver City.

Beautiful, fun skiing

By Moose Family |

It's not as fancy as Vail or Deer Valley, but it's just as fun (at least for intermediate skiers like us) and just as beautiful. Everyone (staff and skiers) was super friendly too.

Great skiing, short lift lines, great atmosphere

By Shauna N |

Came here skiing with a group of friends of mixed abilities, and had such a wonderful time!!! Great variety of intermediate to advanced runs... less beginner options than some places, which made it a little difficult for one member of the group. Definitely recommend a lesson... I went from tackling blues nervously and slowly to pinging down all of the blue runs confidently, tackling the Nastar race course and the terrain parks (small ones) and surviving my first black run, so an awesome investment!! Town has a great laid back vibe, and some nice little apres ski spots. We will definitely be back!!

Awesome vacation!

By drewmac52 |

Is a common vacation for my family and I. Great area and tons of friendly people. All staff are great, from waiters/waitresses, ski instructors, lodge staff, to lift operators. Will continue to visit over and over again.

Our Favorite Ski Resort

By Lloyd T |

We have a men’s ski group of ten men. Some father and sons and other relatives and friends. We have been making an annual ski trip for the past 30 plus years. We rotate from year to year. We have skied most of the slopes in our Western states and several slope in Canada. Some resorts we have been to only once over the years. That is not true of Steamboat Springs Resort. We make sure we come here every 4th or 5th year. We love the varied of trails nad condition of the snow. Also, great restaurants and services on the mountain. Highly recommend, you will love it.

Customer experience still great during COVID

We love this town and resort and have been very impressed with how they have handled COVID and enforced rules to make everybody feel safe.

Great Sking

By Greg W |

This is my hometown ski resort and I have watched it grow over the last 30 years, great for friends, families and first time skiers it's a must do place if you visit there.

Beautiful resort

By LVioletD |

Ski lift tickets overpriced!!!!!!!!
Otherwise well groomed with LOTS of variety. I like the rolling hills & gentle blues & green runs. Worth it to study the trail map or enjoy a free guide to get to know the different peaks.

Pre-Trip Issues Taken Care Of!

By Kelly |

I am traveling to the resort next week with a group, and I unfortunately tore my ACL 2 weeks ago. Aisha with customer service was AMAZING and helped me figure out a solution to my issue with my prepaid lift tickets and rental package. THANK YOU, AISHA! I am still very much looking forward to participating in other events and experiencing Steamboat!

Steamboat; Ode to Wester Ski Town...no longer

By Michael K |

Many say Steamboat is starting to lose it's charm as a laid-back western ski town with year-round activities and a relaxing, easy-going culture...it was always worth the drive to spend time at a place that was friendly, scenic, and offered a wonderful alternative to the I-70 corridor resorts. Regrettably, after 25 years of visiting this town, I would say Steamboat has already lost that charm, and has joined the ranks of the over developed resort destinations specifically designed to extract as much money from visitors as possible. The exorbitant prices on skiing, food, and accommodations combined with the mind-numbing traffic, construction noise and dust, and irritability of both people and workers here really opened my eyes after being away for many years. Every square inch of the mountain is being developed in high-rise properties, blocking the view of what used to be such a majestic mountain...now only the top half of the gondola is even visible, hidden behind the mass of monolithic towers built by out of state developers leaching as many green dollars from the red Colorado soil as their payoffs to local government can purchase. California money and culture has taken over Steamboat in a race to see who can build the largest and most Kardashian-type house as high on the mountain as possible...pathetic. Sorry Steamboat...your best days are behind you...it's no longer worth the drive...here's my advice to trip planners...go to Vale/Breckenridge/Copper, etc.; you'll get the same customer experience, but with better skiing, and will save money on gas and time on the highway. Steamboat sold out...it's over.

Excellent Staff and slopes

By David P |

Well kept slopes and equipment. Even when crowded at the base, once you are at the summit, you'll feel like you're all alone. High Speed lift is awesome. Christy's practice side is awesome too, especially for a warm up. Lot's of greens and blues to explore. Very family friendly.

Beautiful views and fantastic skiing!

By mw368 |

Every year I travel with a group of 9 men to ski. This year we went to Steamboat and it was awesome. The terrain and size of the resort help to keep the slopes open and skiable. The base village is terrific with shops, bars and plenty of places for Apres Ski. Great place for family too with plenty for young kids to do.

Love these slopes!

By Lynn LaTour |

One of my favorite ski places. Champagne Powder is fluffy to land in. Lifts are not to crowd and quick to climb the hills. Hotels and restaurants are close. Ski rental equipment is easy to get at the base of the hill so you don't have to carry back to rooms. Sheraton is the closest hotel to lifts. Steamboat Grand is about 50yrds further.

Enjoy

Dolton is your ski instructor!!!! ☃️🎿❤️

By sarah m |

We put my daughter who’s 5 in ski school for the first time . She was so lucky to get Dolton as her ski instructor. I was so impressed we hired him the next for a private lesson for the entire family. He is so unbelievably patient, kind, sweet and incredibly talented. If everyone had a Dolton skiing they would be so happy. You may leave hungry. Lots of talk about fries but mostly pizza. lol 😂 The most genuine man I ever met. He’s a special soul. My daughter who’s five said “mommy I’m going to my ski instructor.” “Can we take him home with us.” I said “ I don’t think so honey.” We live in Florida.”
Please ask for him and we will miss him. Thank you Dolton!!

Skiing was great!

By FoodieDallas |

This was our second time to Steamboat Springs, and we enjoyed it as much this time as we did the first. The snow was excellent, the employees friendly, and great restaurants at the base as well as on the mountain. The guys at Christy Sports were great at fitting our equipment as well as storing it. Made it so convenient to store our boots in the lockers each evening, so we didn't have to take them back and forth.
We enjoy going into the Sheraton during lunchtime and after skiing for food and drinks. It was reasonably priced and excellent food and drinks. They also have a Starbucks in there which is a great trip on a cold day. We never had to wait in any lift lines.

Beat vacation EVER!!!

By Lisa H |

If I could just say AWESOME enough times to get to 100 characters, that’s what I would do! If you love to ski, come here! Simple as that!

Great Skiing!

By skicolorado2day |

We were lucky enough to have really good snow. It snowed a lot during the week we were there, making visibility a little difficult at times. Steamboat has a lot of terrain. Great runs. Lots of variety. Skiing with the Mountain Masters on the first day was a great way to learn the mountain. Would highly recommend that.

Steamboat is the best

By 614andbeyond |

My family and I have gone on an annual ski trip out west for the last 10 years. Although we have gone to Beaver Creek, Snowmass, Park City, Deer Valley, Alta and the Canyons, we keep coming back to Steamboat. We have been here 4 times now and every year we have had good if not great snow - even during the holiday break when there are many people on the mountain. We’ve had beautiful powder days - and the powder really lived up to its reputation and better then anywhere we’ve been. There are some really challenging runs, back country runs, and happy groomed blues and greens. Everyone in our family (8, 11, and 19 year old boys, 12 year old girl, and two over 40s) had a great time on the slopes. What makes steamboat really great, though, is the ski town vibe. It has a laid back and western vibe that is welcoming and relaxing. More Arcterix then Bogner.

Ski scapade

By macmanion |

My first time in this ski resort. Lots of nice trails for all levels, and long hours of operation with some of the slopes illuminated for night skiing. The station has a gondola to take you mid way up and from there in other lifts to the summit . If you get tired and need a respite there’s plenty of food and drinks options. Apres ski is always fun in any ski area. The town is a few miles down the road for other options
I will try to make it back next season

Fun

By hlosacco |

Ski resort was very nice. We took snowboarding lessons. Fun restaurants are atop the mountain that you have to take the gondola too.

Don't Waste Your Vacation here

By Larry H. |

Awful. Spend your hard-earned money someplace else. Skiing is fine yet people are plain rude. Florida is where we are headed next. Friendly people there.

Great even for non-skiers

By rnnaua2013 |

Out of our 12-member group, I am the only one who does not downhill ski or snowboard, so I was looking for other things to do. I took a lovely snowshoeing tour that included a gondola ride up the mountain, hike, and lunch. The guides were knowledgeable and very nice. The lunch was good at Hazies. But beware, you should book this at least the night before. I was told, I could just show up on that morning, but that turned out to be somewhat debated among staff, so it's best to go ahead and reserve your spot.

The après-ski is nice to do with families and overall, the village has some good coffee and food options. We stayed in a house walking distance to the village, which was great! We all enjoyed this location for skiing!

Never Too Old To Learn To Ski

By 317noscreenname |

I turned 50 this year and took my first skiing lesson at Steamboat Ski Resort. Instructors do a fantastic job and it's such a beautiful mountain. I don't know why I waited so long to take my first lesson!

First timers

By Jgrtz |

First time I’ve skied in Steamboat Springs. Only third time I’ve skied in my life. Of course, I went to ski school, so I wouldn’t break my neck attempting to ski with my husband (skiing double blacks). JC was my ski instructor, and he was very informative about the mechanics of skiing. This helped me understand WHY you stand, WHY your arms in front hello with balance, etc. He is the best instructor I’ve had (of the 3 places I’ve taken lessons). Next year, I hope to have him again... to reiterate what I’ve learned... and to help me gain confidence in going down the green runs faster!

What a fantastic ski resort!

By Andy P |

Loved this place. Runs for all abilities. The snow was great and not too busy either. Everybody was friendly and super helpful. Possibly too many snowboarders buts that’s me talking like an old guy. Apres ski we tended to go to the Truffle Pig where the truffle and Parmesan fries were tasty as hell and we were always well looked after by the serving staff and never had to wait long for either food or drinks to turn up.

One thing to be aware of though is to make sure you have your restaurant reservations made several days in advance if you want to eat your dinner at a reasonable time. When we tried to make reservations on the day or even day before it was virtually impossible to get in before 8.30-9.00 pm, especially in the top rated Trip Advisor restaurants.

Great mountain

By Gordy P |

All levels of terrain available, so somethung for everybody. Also multiple sections of mountain to choose from, so you can keep moving and exploring. They do a good job moving people, so even on busy days long waits don't happen often. We've come here for part of spring break 3 years running, and it's becoming our favorite.

Great mountain

By Twukguy |

Wow, big mountain skiing and great staff. Cant wait to come back. Tremendous resort! Long runs, good grooming, very good food.

Skiing Colorado

By Leonid L |

One of the nicest skiing area in my opinion; great terrain variety for all level of skiers, famous ‘champagne powder’, gondola, multiple lifts - almost never long lines. Several rest stops/restaurants over the three peak mountain, great skiing.
Cross-country skiing, sledding, tubing available. Excellent restaurants in town.

Great manageable mountain

By bikingmom |

We spent 4 days skiing here. There has not been any snow for a while so near the end of the day the runs can become icy. We were also there during sub zero weather which did not help. The good news is there were no crowds and the sun was shining all day long. We parked at the Knoll lot and walked to the gondola. We did not have to deal with paying for lockers because our Condo came with a private locker. There is terrain for everyone.

We love Steamboat

By GibbsesFamily |

Steamboat is my favourite resort, not just the great snow, the fast lifts and well laid out mountain, but everyone is super friendly, the restaurants are great and and you feel welcome sitting down and just having a glass of water. We had fantastic snow and just skied and skied, I averaged 5 hours a day, my husband 7!

Beautiful Mountain

By Jeanne S |

Fun was had by everyone. The mountain had fresh snow, skiing was good, lesson was great! The condo, we had was pretty good. I would definitely come back again!

Best ski holiday ever

By vic4pic |

Excellent terrain for both ski and snowboarding. Great variety of tree skiing for all levels. Great country atmosphere, very short or now lines/ waiting time. Beautiful snow. All staff very hospitable and polite

Great Family Ski Resort, 3 Mile Green Runs, Low Altitude, But Darn Hard To Get To....

By Sherry M |

We loved Steamboat. It was a great mountain with all types of terrain. You can ski all the way from the top on a Green and we never waited for more than a few minutes in any line (even with spring break).

The snow was amazing with over 300" this year.

We stayed at Kutuk Condominiums (walk out, ski in) - super handy since we had some non-skiers.

The resort base is fun with bands, food, and lots of people watching.

Our teenage granddaughter took a 2 hour lesson during night ski and was well on her way to blue runs when finished.

It's expensive (maybe they all are now) @ $199 / day and $159 for half day. I know you can save money with multi-day passes - but we had beginners who weren't sure how much they would ski. Night skiing is a bargain @ $39.

We had terrible travel due to spring storms and the bomb cyclone. Our flights to and from Steamboat from Denver were cancelled - so we rented a car and drove the 4 hours (or more depending on weather) each way. A beautiful drive - but not how we planned to spend our time. Will probably stick with a resort around a major airport like Park City next time. :)

Awesome Skiing

By TaniyaARNP |

Had a great time with the family. Many trails to go on with all level types. Next year they are getting a new gondola. Would definitely recommend this spot for skiing.

Absolutely Enjoyable

By Peter S |

This was our third family trip to Steamboat to ski and enjoy each other's company. We have found the terrain and the snow conditions to be unbeatable. We skied for three days while it was snowing and when the sun was shining brightly. The lift lines were not long, except for the gondola on Saturday morning. The other days of the week the lift lines were short, including the line for the gondola. The runs are long and accommodate all types of skiers, from beginners to experts. My favorite part of the skiing experience is the free transportation to and from the ski area and to and from town. The transportation system provides a stress free vacation.

Best reason to visit Steamboat

By Aaron W |

Visit in March was great! Worried about snow in March but it was good. Snow at this time of year was similar to Michigan...many days above freezing so probably not as much powder. Still, with lower crowds, I would definitely do it again and probably will.

Getting a bit pricey, but the friendliness always wins me over

By nuts7hawk |

The staff at this resort all the way from the ski boot fitters at Christy Sports to the ski school instructors keep me, and apparently, tons of other people coming back. Great snow, facilities and sunshine can't be beat! Watch for free concerts, night skiing and hot chocolate.

Excellent mountain, luck of the draw on crowds

By TravelYogi2 |

Spent two separate weekends in Steamboat. Colorado had amazing snow this year so the crowds may have been worse than usual, I'm not sure as these were my first and second time in Steamboat. 1st weekend in March we had a huge dump of 36" of snow. The mountain was near blizzard conditions and the line to get on the base gondola was over 1 1/2 hours. Dreadful...the snowboarders boarded off trail and landed on the run right in front of me. I'm a returning skier and not comfortable with large numbers of people zooming all around. So my weekend in March was very soso.

Second weekend in April. Again visibility was a challenge but the gondola was not more than a few minutes wait! We were able to ski non-stop the entire weekend. As can be expected with spring skiing, there was some slush near the base but we had off and on sun which allowed some views this time. A lot less crazies on the slopes too. I actually had a couple of quiet peaceful runs by myself. Awesome day.

Ski School: My 13 y/o son had a snowboard lesson, one of many all over Colorado. The instructor was AMAZING and we would go to her again in a heartbeat. It's an expensive ski school but worth it. We'll definitely go back.

The only reason for 4 stars vs 5 is that the resort should have a better check on boarders skiing off trail and landing on green runs. If this is allowed it should only be allowed on black/blues or above for the safety and enjoyment of all.

Skiing with an incredible valley view!

By luv4phood |

This is a great mountain for a group with a variety of ski levels. From beginners to more advanced skiers, everyone found an enjoyable run. We found the "Sunnyside" to be particularly fun skiing for the whole family. We never encountered a long lift line and the trails were wide with lots of room for cruising.

Good family resort, but hard to navigate

By GED-California |

Steamboat is a great family resort-- good groomers, forgiving bumps runs, great snow. Also, the tree skiing among the aspens is some of the best I have ever seen at a resort.

The downside is that there is very little that is particularly challenging. Even the "chutes" were not particularity technical. Also, getting around is confusing. Getting almost anywhere requires multiple lifts and getting lost is super easy. There were a couple of times where I popped out of a tree run to find myself on the wrong side of the mountain with no idea how I ended up there.

Base and apre were both solid. We had the advantage of having a music festival coincide with our visit so there was a band on the outdoor stage pretty much constantly.

Rude staff ruined it

By S B |

On day 1 I was yelled at—literally screamed at—by a staff person because my husband dropped me off to go buy ski passes for my family. At $220 a person, I was not expecting to be screamed at! She was extremely rude and kept yelling even after I tried to explain that the vehicle was already moved. She was relentless! She was walking a gray, very intimidating, pit bull as if she might have it attack me. And then she yelled at me to “have a nice day, ma’am!” Such a bad first impression by this young rude lady. She could have handled it much much better. We did ski, and the rest of the staff was helpful and friendly but first impressions are lasting. I’m not in any hurry to go back.

Excellent skiing

By Ken Q |

Great ski area! Everything was open and the lift lines weren't too bad. Lots of variety for advanced and intermediate skiers.

Best and relaxed ski resort in Colorado.

By Kevin B |

Love the town of Steamboat. People are super friendly. Restaurants superb! Easy access to the mountain from any spot.

Wonderful

By Travis M |

Great skiing, great town, beautiful scenery. Lots of places to get great pictures. You can't go wrong going to Steamboat.

One of the best ski towns!

By Danielle H |

We first visited Steamboat in 2013. During our short stay, Steamboat received several inches of their infamous champagne powder and WOW! We have been back several times since and each time we've been there has been fantastic. The resort is easy to navigate, fun and friendly. The staff is amazing and very helpful. And the runs! They have runs for all levels. I have been able to improve at snowboarding and become more comfortable with more difficult terrain at Steamboat. Flintlock became my favorite this year!
The lift lines could get a bit long but I feel that's to be expected in one of the best ski resort towns in Colorado!

Top instructors

By Cabby222 |

It’s not easy learning to ski as an adult. I found the instructors at steamboat be to be excellent compared to some of the other top rated resorts where I’ve taken lessons. They are supportive, motivating and push you but not over your limit which can ruin the experience.
There was enough variety for me to ski as a beginner and my partner at the expert level. Nice skipping the lift lines as part of a lessons - they can get long. We booked the 3 day $199 lift ticket and plan to return next year if this deal is available again as it is a bargain for a top tier ski resort such as Steamboat.

Food & Beverage Major Shortage

By NCskierGSO |

Great skiing but you will fight for a place to get some food or drink a beer. The Moutain lodges are scarce and poorly laid out (tons of steps). The local restaurants are not very good and jammed packed. There simply is too many people and not enough food and beverage options. The CEO was spending his day today helping load skis in the Gondola and what he needs to do is spend his time fixing his major F&B issue. Won’t come back to Steamboat.

Best ski destination!

By Kyle M |

New favorite ski resort! I have skied in a few places over the years but Steamboat is now my favorite. Friendliest people. Great base layout and they are renovating and adding new slopes!

Great for the whole family

By Sunil P |

We stayed at the Sheraton Steamboat. The airline lost our luggage and our trip started on a bad note. When we got there they told us that our room was not ready but they changed our room and gave us another one. We weren't happy with that room and the manager was amazing and changed our room the next morning. We got a 2 bedroom and it had a small kitchenette. The space was perfect for the 4 of us. The room was clean and had great views of the mountain. The Sheraton is right at the base of the mountain. The ski rentals are in the building on the basement and they let you pick up your equipment the night before. You can store your skis at the rental place and pick them up on your way to the slopes.

We took a private lesson with Mike Malone from the Ski school. He was awesome. We have a 5 yr old and a 9 yr old. My wife never skied before. He got us all up on skis and everyone skiing by the end of the trip. I was thrilled. Worth every dollar. I would highly recommend him.

We thought the food wouldn't be great in a small village but we were wrong. There is a good selection of restaurants and we were lucky that every restaurant was great.

I would recommend that you fly into Hayden. Denver is a 3 hour drive. We drove in from Denver and flew out of Hayden. If you drive from Denver -You need a 4 wheel drive car in the winter. We got lucky as the roads remained open. They do close the roads if there are storms. The road closed just after we got into the hotel.

Family get together

By Kevin C |

Was lucky to enjoy new snow from previous weekend. Received few inches while there and a sunny day in middle. Stay was after festivals and before school break so no lift lines to rate. I find majority of runs a little short and intermediate. Lodging in Storm Meadows is remote from town and dependent on shuttle service. Never made it to Main Street in Steamboat Springs, that’ll have to wait until another trip.

Ski 🎿 Town

By CaptainJohn58 |

Mountain was Great. Wished it had been better groomed. Lifts very fast even if there was a little crowd.

Good skiing, good snow. Better than average runs. Very overpriced.

By BJerome |

I've been to several ski resorts with better skiing and a more interesting town. I have never, however, paid nearly this much for a lift ticket. $215 a day per person. Bought two, two-day passes for my wife and I: $860. I could understand if this was the club med of skiing but it's not. We had a good time. The snow was great. The mountain is good. The value is poor.

Great FUN!

By Appleramos |

Love this resort. Easy to get around and the right size. We skied and snow shoed on our trip. The Gondola works fine (it seems they are updating it soon). I am very impressed with the Steamboat employees.

Best Ski area in Colorado!

By Yenesis A |

The runs were amazing and all of them were open to accommodate the number of guests there. The Village had great restaurants, live music and a great place to hang out when you don't ski.

Friendliest folks in CO

By Stephen F |

Steamboat has been a favorite ski area for our family for years. We have visited a lot in the summer also. The runs are perfect and the snow is reliable. I recommend this for any level skier and for young families. Great ski school.

Ski School

By Özlem A |

For Skı School Review:

I will not be back here for lessons or ski camps. Ski school communication was bad when I text them they dont answer my complaint because it is complain of course they dont. Secondly my expectation didnt meet during experience. What a disappointment waste of money $$$ I guess only thing money not learning or improving

Steamboat has the best employees.

By GlobeTrotting398795 |

I want to start off by saying that I have been to quite a few ski resorts. The experience I had at Steamboat was awesome. The ski shop at the base went beyond and above for my family. I can not say enough about every employee I encountered. WOW ! Wish every resorts had such great employees.

Gorgeous resort!

By Lauren Butterfield |

I skied here on Saturday and had such a great time! The one bad thing I would say about this ski resort is that a left ticket for an adult was $215 and I think that is beyond crazy for a lift ticket. Also, you have to pay for parking all over the resort so that just brings up the price of the whole day. The resort doesn't get as crowded as other resorts off of I-70.

Skier's Paradise

By acruiser |

Friendly staff and efficient pass scan to get you up the mountain quickly. Great mountain with plenty of trails for skiers/boarders of all levels. Well groomed trails, moguls for those interested, and half pipe for boarders. Family friendly if you're traveling with children. Several lodges mid-mountain for those meal breaks.

Outstanding ski area...if you can afford it.

By Joe F |

I have been to Steamboat several times over thirty years. The snow has been consistantly good. With an over abundance of condos, the stay is very reasonable at most places, even close to the entrance. The lift tickets are a different story, I paid $200 a day for days which I did not pre pay. Overall a very good trip.

Good Old Steamboat

By IvanK67 |

It has been five years since I was last at Steamboat. Intrawest chose not to recognize seniors at 65 - forcing the issue to be 70. So for five years I boarded elsewhere. This season Steamboat was on the IKON pass so I headed out hear after boarding in Keystone, Breckenridge, Winter Park and Copper Mountain. The mountain is still a blast to board and ski. Plenty of runs for all levels. The staffing from the Sheraton Hotel to the lifts and Ski Patrol and Advisors on the mountain are all top notch. Steamboat still posts the largest Ski Patrol I have ever witnessed at all of the mountains that I have boarded on. Safety is important to the mountain.

I missed Steamboat - but am glad they are now part of the IKON pass which opens up my willingness to return.

Steamboat for a great ski trip

By kakcjk1996 |

We had such a great trip from beginning to end. Plenty of great skiing and fun for those who don’t ski. It was nice to take the gondola up to mid mountain for lunch and not have to ski down. A great family destination

Amazing!

By Heather D |

This resort is a lot more than meets the eye. First, the snow here is better than most all of Colorado. Fluffy and light and wonderful! The variety of runs keeps you busy for days on end. I have been coming for six years and still find parts of the mountain I haven’t skied before! Also, an excellent family location!

Awesome

By frank d |

I guided skiers for 18 years as an Over the Hil Gang Ski Guide. Guided 2592 skiers. Get their early, go to Wally World before the crowds, ski the powder stashes and the trees, then rendezvous restaurant upstairs at 11 for hot chocalate, the to thunderhead cafeteria by 12:15. Out 1 and do mt werner, morningside, buddy's ,and sunset, maybe the trees in shadows and closet, no crowds, do bar u e lift.then descend from Mt Werner, 3600 vertical feet, 25 minutes to the bottom. order a corona, thank the mountain, it let you have fun, be humble

Champagne Powder is a Thing

By David W |

The hype is true regarding the powder. It is the lightest snow I've ever experienced. The resort is well run with helpful staff. My friend and I are intermediate skiers and we found plenty of terrain to keep us busy. I'd say Steamboat is perfect for three days of skiing. The town is fun too and easy to get to given the free buses.

Ski School

By NancyKW64 |

Ski School was a great experience for our 4yr and 7yr old grandsons. The 4yr old was in Kids Vacation Club and they did a great job keeping up with the little kids.

This was the 1st the 7yr old had been in Colorado so we thought ski lessons would be good. His instructor, Taylor, was very patient with him! He’s ready to again next year.

Nothing Beats the Snow at Steamboat except Utah

By SarahG |

I grew up skiing in Utah on the dry, lightweight powder. Nothing beats this type of fresh snow and a clear, blue windless sky. Steamboat has it all with great fall lines, plenty of acres and short lift lines, even on the weekend. The new gondola quickly gets large crowds out of the congested base and distributes them throughout the mountain. Runs and other resources, like bathrooms and restaurants, are easy to find because they are marked on the trail signs (!) The staff is very friendly and welcoming and taking the public bus to and from the resort made getting there really easy. We had two great days here.

This place is tired

By nlskinner |

The snow is always good here, but the resort is very tired. Prices are ridiculously high. The single day lift ticket was $165.

The seats on the Four Points chair lift are so worn you can see the stuffing coming out.

The ski school for our grandchildren was very good.

Lunch items in the restaurants are very expensive, but the places were packed with lots of food being consumed.

Skied in the winter, hiked in the summer

By Y6960BVsusanm |

year round resort with wonderful historic town nearby. Full service everything and great hill for skiing. History here too.

Don't rent equipment from Steamboat Sports

By Ana_San |

I reserved my ski package over 7 days before my visit at a discount. I chose Steamboat Sports because it was on the same website as the lift tickets I purchased. I chose the Sheraton location because it's the most central. I was fit for boot by a young and inexperienced fitter, I came to realize by boot was too big and VERY uncomfortable. Never have I ever gotten blisters from my boots in my 20+ years of skiing until this time. As for getting fit for the skis, I had a very rude fitter who didn't even ask my height or measure the ski length to my body height. I had to ask for my helmet and interrupt her with the next guest she took on and she didn't even explain the pole situation to me (essentially go outside and pick your own).
They were accommodating in changing my boots day 2/3 when I came in, but again, a rude fitter who I killed with kindness and eventually got nice on me.
Overall - worst rental experience ever. Go with someone else!
@Steamboat Sports you should look into getting better equipment to match the caliber of your resort.

Got lucky

By SirHenry |

We got lucky with a lot of late powder but even so this mou tain is well run, with good ski options. Not too bhsy although it was late season. Loved it Steamboat!

Best winter resort in the world

By Randal C |

We’ve been to every ski mountain in North America and Steamboat is by far our favorite. The small town atmosphere is real and the people are friendly and unpretentious. Not like snooty Vail or Aspen. All the restaurants are fantastic and the skiing is unmatched. Other places claim to have champagne powder but this is where the term was invented. We always stay at Edgemont condos. It is the best ski in and ski out place we’ve ever seen. There is not a nicer ski place in the world.

Right where you want to be

By David B |

Stayed a week here before the rush of the snow season. Staff(Tucker) was on point. Valet (Scott) was very helpful. Due it being right before the ski part of the resort opening, It was like having the place to ourselves. Close to any stores or shopping you may need to do. Villas are well maintained and had all the amenities needed as if in a condo. Will be back in the future to do some snowboarding.

Beautiful but Hard to Navigate

By KentuckySunLover |

Pros-beautiful mountain, good snow, minimal lift lines, nice friendly on-mountain staff, low altitude makes breathing easy, free water (no really, this is great!)

Cons-savage lighting/flat light, tough to navigate if you're not an expert skier

Ski vacation

By Laura S |

Great place to take families! Locals are very friendly, plenty to see and do. Thanks Trip Advisor for all the great recommendations. Ore Restaurant, Old Town Hot Springs, Western BBQ, Saddle Back Ranch. All. Highlights. On our trip!

Crowded

By L H |

In terms of major ski resorts, this is smallish - making for long lines/crowded slopes. At times utter chaos; ~ 1000 people in the gondola line on an early March Sat. Multiple chairlifts without footrests highly annoying. A few lifts (and lodges) with laborious uphill grades, ditto with slopes almost completely blocked with slow-down fences; signage needs updating, grooming during high snow volume needs to be stepped up. There are several bigger/better resorts out west more worth the cost. The best part about Steamboat is the lifties: noticeably more friendly/engaging than most resorts these days, they are also artists (other resorts should figure out how to inspire this)!

Gondola and snow shoeing made for a great trip

By Lindsey N |

Having never skied before, I didn't want to spend $100+ to ski, but snow shoes and a trip up the gondola, admiring the ski talent of all the others there, made for a fun adventure.

Heartbreaking

By Danna H |

Go back to the way it used to run in the 90s, the locals the town are acting more like Jackson Hole, should rename it Steamhole, this was my favorite ski town, but now it’s gone never to return< crowded with rude inconsiderate people, and they no longer represent a family style ski area, or value they have gotten greedy and stupid, also the base needs updated. My family will never come back here......

Great city and amazing Ski snow

By pesto242 |

Our favorite place to ski. Our daughter learned to ski there last year (2 3/4 yr), and we love the perfect light snow and tree skiing. We ski morning to night and there is a lot of acres to ski and not get bored. The town is not at all like some of the others. It is not just pretty, but more of a real town that we love staying. We spent almost a 100 days there last year between November to August 2018.

Great Town and Ski Mountian

By Jarrod R |

Steamboat is an awesome town with lots to do in the winter from, skiing, tubing, snow mobiles etc. Summer months has even more to do. We have not been to a resort like Steamboat with a small town atmosphere with very friendly people.

Steamboat Ski Resort

By MTCD61 |

Steamboat is a beautiful ski resort with breathtaking views. It’s not a big resort by all means and the terrain is not geared to extreme skiing. Lots of intermediate runs and the advance terrain is totally doable if you are solid on blue runs. They groom the whole hill everyday, even part of the blacks get groomed leaving you a choice to ski soft bumps if you choose. We had great snow conditions, fluffy fresh powder. It was incredible. Steamboat is known for its tree skiing, therefore a great place to go to learn. The morningside chair area has some wonderful tree skiing and don’t forget to bring an extra granola bar to feed the Whiskey Jacks. They will eat right out of your hands while on the chairlift! A real joy!
The food on the hill is good. We especially loved stopping at the 4 point lodge for lunch. Lots of healthy food options. If you have an Icon pass you receive 10% off.
On a sunny day everyone sits outside. The view is lovely.

Amazing family-friendly resort

By Greg G |

Normally, mountains are characterized by intermingled green, blue and black. Steamboat has wonderfully segmented sub-ski areas linked by their own lifts. This allows a whole day of skiing at whatever level of skiier or boarder you are without the risks of highly skilled skiers speeding through a green or a beginner suddenly finding themselves with no way down but through a challenging mogul field. For the family, they have all day ski classes and even normal school for the kids so that parents can get in snow-fun too. The distance from airports provides a bit of a barrier which also lends to the sense of safety for the whole townsite.

Ski holiday

By CCWhippet |

Beautiful ski resort. Very accessible restaurants and ski supplies available. Saturday was more crowded than Sunday. Lift lines had a lot of people but lines went quickly. Good access for all ability skiers. Mountain restaurants had good selection of food

Lots of skiers!

By Travelers330 |

Didn’t plan to attend their opening day. Just included as part of activities for our 4-days vacation. The opening day wasn’t that grande. Lining up for the expressway lift is cumbersome. People will cut in-front of you even it is not their turn or just arrive. Lots of narrow long trails which can be easily be congested with both skiers and snowboarders, maybe at the beginner’s trails. Still packed of ice in some area. Getting our lift tickets is a breeze. Ticket counter agents are mostly friendly

Absurd crowds and a disregard for safety at all levels

By rebecca k |

I have been riding at Steamboat for over 20 years. I am so disappointed with the lack of management and control of lift lines and mountain capacity, especially during COVID. Other mountains have limited capacity by requiring reservations. Because Steamboat did not the crowds over the last several weekends have been unbelievable. In addition to the absurd lift lines, the crowds on the mountain have resulted in noticeably more collisions on the mountain. I no longer feel safe having my kids on the mountain and being there is no longer fun. I am very sad.

Nice resort with smaller crowds

By Donna R |

Great resort with lots of options for different ability skiers. I love the runs up on the top because they are spread out and less crowded but great snow.

First Ski Vacation

By Michelle F |

What a beautiful ski resort! Our first time skiers had a blast! If you're not a skier be sure to try snowshoeing!

Best year ever in Steamboat!

By Broc N |

Another great trip to Steamboat! Stayed at the Trailehead Lodge that had a Gondola to the base bill age, very convenient! Snow was awesome this year, kids ski school is fantastic, and on mountain dining is delicious. Recommend the Bison Chili at Four Points and happy hour at Stoker Bar at Thunderhead. The new Timber and Torch is a great apres ski atmosphere with an awesome view.

Steamboat - Still Great But Bursting at It's Seams -

By Tom N |

I spent a lot of time with a wintering '76 and family ski and summer trips over the years. The town was attractive as it has been a 'real working' town with a history and nearby ranches still operating unlike Vail or Aspen et all. I had not been here in summer for many years and BOY has it grown, with lots of traffic and congestion unlike the sleepy summer town I remembered. Traffic HORRIBLE at peak hours.
That said, many great restaurants and summer activities and great venues like the Botanical Gardens and National Forest and wilderness areas.
Concern is the resort is adding a second mountain gondola and aims to become the second largest ski resort in NA. IMO bigger is not always better and I have concerns about Resort able to handle even bigger crowds.

Fancy, but fun

By Jilly Billy |

Steamboat lift tickets and lesson prices are outrageous, but, with an Ikon pass then it is affordable. That being said, it is one of the nicest ski resorts I've been too. The gondolas, lifts and general atmosphere is great. In some ways, you get the bougie feel of Aspen, but without the pressure to wear the latest, most expensive ski wear and equipment. Everyone that I met there was really nice and friendly from the guests to the employees. If this is your first ski trip and you plan on taking lessons, especially if you have a whole family to pay for, go somewhere else for your first trip. Come back here when no lessons are required. We will be back!

WHERE’S BILLY?

By Emmet |

Nice intermediate mountain with really nice snow and tree skiing. Being a former Vermont skier, I wanted to see Billy Kidd but didn’t get the chance.
Instead I had to listen to a bunch of whiny radiologists complain about everything.
😎

Not the best Colorado has to offer

By SangPei |

I’d classify the resort as just ok. It’s a beautiful spot however the thing that disappointed us most was the trail condition. They had lots of snow but the grooming was awful. By late morning all trails had bumps with lots of ice. Being from New England We come to Colorado to escape icey skiing! During the week there was very little trail grooming. We found it a little better on the weekend. We’ve been to so many resorts in the west that had perfect conditions and perfect grooming ... Vail, Beaver Creek, Copper, Breck to name a few. We probably won’t go back to Steamboat.

Love the mountain - Hate the cost

I have been going skiing at Steamboat for the past 24 years. I love the mountain, they have a great variety of trails and really good grooming. The price though has gotten to be beyond ridiculous. If I did not get a special deal, I would not be going there anymore. Not at 159-199/day. As awesome as I think it is there, They have priced themselves out of reach for many skiers.

It is a ski area but don't ignore the fun summer has to offer. The ski villages has numerous activities for adults and children of all ages. The entire Steamboat area is full of adventures for all ages. Highly recommend for a summer vacation ranging from 3-7 days!

Skied at Steamboat Ski Resort. Snow was as they say "champagne" and it was great. There was plenty of slopes to explore and things to see and do. Great food and lodging and the people were great!
