Great place for the kids

By glennsaddress |

Here for a couple of days with family. My daughter, her husband and my grandchild went her so he could enjoy the rides as I did when I use to come here. Nice was to spend an few hours. Ride prices are expensive. But we all enjoyed it.

Tired looking amusement park with limited rides

By BigMerk |

We only made a brief visit here as we had no interest in taking any of the rides. The Ferris Wheel is not working (looks like for a while) and the rest -of which there wasn't much -was expensive in my view. Nice to see these pier places still exist but this looks a bit tired.

Good for kids?

By HangingWithMyGnomies |

Basically a fair like the ones that pop up in town at random. Pretty much just kids rides with the exception of the slingshot. Tickets are crazy expensive.

I guess you've gotta be a kid

By Nitvoyodelo |

My husband had fond memories of going to the Steel Pier as a child. It was an unbearably hot day in early August, a Sunday, and we decided to take a ride and wound up on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Not smart. Once we hit the boards, and felt the heat coming off of them, we headed for the Steel Peer because it was right there, and nostalgia is a magnet. This honky-tonk, cheap crap prizes and shooting ranges, where youngsters are trained to fall in love with guns and shooting totally disgusted me. And the noise! People shouting at you to come over and try your luck or whatever at whatever, while music blasted from every corner. If this reminds you of your childhood, by all means go!!

Fun family day

By Lani S |

There are lots of rides for both young & older kids. Lots of games, although they are on the pricey side and other things like sling shot & helicopter rides. They have some classic rides like the double decker merry go round & the swings that lift up & tilt, by far my favorite rides. There isn't any shade so if it's a hot day expect to sweat. Overall is a great place to spend time with your kids & it's right next to trump Taj Mahal hotel & casino.

walk on the pier

By Barbara F |

Have old memories of the Steel Pier and wanted to see how it looked today. They have large ferris wheel on Pier and really wanted to take a ride on it, but found the price to be more than I thought I wanted to pay, $15 pp. Really feel they would make more if they charged less for a ride. I would have been willing to pay $5 pp but not $15. Therefore, I was disappointed.

They have fixed it up

By bluejeanfood |

This place was falling down, but the Hard Rock Casino really pumped some money into the pier this year and we have a nice time here with the family.

Family Christmas trip

By Veetz_J |

We visited Atlantic City for the week of Christmas 2019. Two families of four, all adults. Only the wheel was operational at the time, I’m guessing because of how cold it was and it also being their low season. We got there in time for sunset and it was absolutely enjoyable. The staff were very friendly and the park itself is beautiful. The views of the water and the tall chairs that sit alongside the water is absolutely relaxing.
Definitely worth visiting.

Disappointed

By Rosa C |

So I came to Atlantic City with my grandkids 7 and 9 on Sunday April 13th, I was talked into buying the better deal $80.00 for 160 tickets. I guess it's my own fault, first of all there aren't many rides and many of them have height requirements which my granddaughter did not meet, which was fine, I figured my grandson would be able to use them the next day, well the next day my grandkids were very disappointed that the pier was closed. I feel we should of been made aware at purchasing the tickets that the pier was only open on the weekends in April. Now I have over 60.00 in tickets that I won't be using since I don't plan on coming back to Atlantic city any time soon.

Nostalgic but needs a revamp

By Sunny P |

Most of Atlantic City needs to be revamped, this also mean the pier. Dont get me wrong, it is nice to see kinds having fun, people calling out from the stalls asking you to come along and play. Does take you back a bit which is very nice. I just think, to grab more younger people, they need to upgrade most things.

A Movie inspiration

By Arthur Mills |

Great classic US fun. It is strange that the Pier Amusement Park gave inspiration to so many parks in so many movies!

Ferris Wheel

By Linda S |

We ride the Ferris wheel during late afternoon. There were only 4 other people also riding. Ride was smooth and you go 2 rounds. We had better ocean views from our hotel.

vacationing

By adaobz |

Free entry. You buy any amount of tickets that you want / can afford to pay for rides. The lightings at night are colourful

Still an exciting pier to visit

By j0ya0 |

Fun for young and old. An awesome double decker carousel to enjoy. 'The Wheel" if you enjoy Ferris wheels of gigantic proportions.

Fun for children

By irene g |

Rides for children, but of little interest for people over 13, except if interested in throwing balls or shooting guns to win stuffed animals.

Fun place

By Carey J |

What more could you want rides and games on Boardwalk!! The rides are for all ages. Great place to take kids and give yourself a break in casinos!!

Family visit

By Pam A |

My grandkids had a ball
i purchase the tickets on Groupon for 42
Worth every dime with all of the laughs

Just another amusement park...

By Marge R |

Nothing special, all around a decent place. Everything was working and in good order. We had fun. They were open until about midnight mid week.

Best Time!

By myW0r1d |

My son had the best time at steel pier! We purchased 80 ticket booklet via groupon. It was worth it. We even used the coupons for the sausage sandwich which was good for carnival type fare.

rides!!!

By Monzzly |

there was a ride for everybody!!! We so much enjoyed the go karts!!! the kids loved the Ferris wheel and the little rides they have for younger fans!!

Only Amusement Park in Atlantic City

By guitarmannewjersey |

The only real place for kids in Atlantic city in addition to the beach. Really just OK. Have a nice selection of rides and arcade games. the view from the end of the pier is well worth it. You can have drink at a little bar there. For kids go to Ocean City NJ which has lots of family attractions for the little ones. It's only a 30 minute drive from the casino's.

Super fun but be prepared to spend $

By disneyboundmom66 |

Went last week with kids 9, 11 and 13. They enjoyed the rides and we enjoyed saving $5 off an 80 ticket strip from a coupon book we picked up earlier. The big ride, Mix, was 10 tickets and needed two people to ride so one of our brave ones could not ride it. Down side was it would have been nice to walk around with a beer but it looked like you could consume only in restaurants and their patios.

lots to do for all!!!

By Mary T |

I brought my grandkids and they were so excited!! The staff was great. All the rides were operating. The games were fun too.

Great place!

By weekendcruiser2015 |

My kids love this place. The only downside is my daughter was about a inch away from riding the big kid rides you must be 48'. We've been to numerous amusement parks and the same rides she could get on.

Fresh air, Bright Lights and Music too

By Beside Water |

Fun to walk at night.. various bands ,at pier entrance. Good break from time spent in casino. Fun rides

Review of the Steel Pier Pub

By zzyzzx |

This place seems to have the only happy hour type prices after 7PM in this part of the boardwalk, so we thought that we would give it a try. The GF liked the wine, but for $3 the draft beer cups were small, like the small cups of beer you get when gambling, so I really can't recommend this place as anything special for beer. Now if you happen to have really good weather for sitting outside, then yes it's very nice to sit on the boardwalk and have some beer. This pub also has an indoor section, which nobody was using when I was there. The pictures I took were the next day when it was closed, but the pizza place was also open when the bar was open.

I rate the bathrooms there as below average.. Try to make it into the Taj if you can.

for kids

By elmahelmah |

we thought it would be a little more fun, or whatever, if you have children, this place is perfect for them

More Carnival Than Amusement Park

By TiMason |

The Steel Pier rides haven't changed very much over the years. While on the expensive side for the rides and a bummer that wrist bands can't be bought for evening hours, at least the tickets never expire. There were a mix of rides available for both short and tall riders. Most of the rides were well attended, however for rides that required an adult to ride with child, I think a lesser ticket fare or caregiver ticket should be available for purchase so that the tickets don't get spent so quickly because "Mom has to ride the train too" when a child rider doesn't meet the height requirement alone.

Lots to see and experience

By Kathy P |

Good old-fashioned games & rides. Took me back to when I was a child and would go to the local and state fairs. Not for the faint of heart as it can be quite overwhelming and loud for some people and children. There is a beautiful ferris wheel. If you want some "nostalgia" then this is the place for you!

Not sure if opened

By Joy02748096 |

Signs on the boardwalk showed the Steel Pier opened in March. We were there in May during the week. During the day walked by and nothing opened. At night the Ferris Wheel lights were on but it wasn't moving. Did not bother in the evening to check it out. Was not appealing and felt unsafe walking around the boardwalk at night.

Take the kids

By mark15780 |

Great place to take the kids. Lots of rides and games. Avoid the food stands. The ff place not bad. Not bad.

Fun but definitely more for kids

By Heather J |

We went in the off season so knew everything wouldn’t be open (only open Saturday and Sunday) but seriously there was almost nothing open for adults. We bought a groupon that included 80 tickets and ended up using 34 tickets. I gave the rest away to some families. We rode the Crazy Mouse and the Ferris Wheel twice but the swings were closed and we weren’t a fan of the pirate ship and felt the merry go round and rest of the rides were too childish. They charge extra for a few of the rides like the slingshot and the helicopter tour of the shore. It’s worth walking in and going to the end of the pier for the view (for free). Glad we saw it and checked it off the “life list” but wish I would have checked out what we wanted to ride and just bought a few tickets.

Atlantic City Amusement Park

By adrianf23 |

It is an ideal place for casino player parent. u can have a balance plan of both casino gaming and family entertainment around the corner during warmer season. It offers varies play rides for children.

Not worth it

By gany1969 |

My wife had a burger from the pier. Ended up getting sick from it. Horrible. Employees were all basically just there for a paycheck. No real customer service. The games were a ripoff. Typical carny type place. They did have a helicopter ride

Fun! Fun! Fun!

By skylightspirit |

Nice small amusement park for kids of all ages - including adults. Offers games of chance and snack foods at reasonable prices. Nice variety of rides and lasted a good enough time to for the riders to have FUN! Worth a visit.

Some fun rides but overpriced

By Craig L |

The pier is always fun for the kids and they have rides for all ages and levels of adventure, but the Pier is expensive. Most rides will cost at least $3 buck and many of the rides more. The large Ferris wheel is $15 per person which becomes pricey quickly when there are three or more of you. Granted the ride is long, but still expensive. The games cost what most carnival games cost and the prizes are about the same. It's a fun place to spend a few hours, but be prepared to spend a few dollars.

WEC/MPI response to continue the fun

By Caren J |

great way to network with fellow associates, fun, clean, nice variety of rides to choose from regardless of age

Carnival on the pier

By RonL40 |

Kids will enjoy the old-time feel of the rides, arcade games. Built in the 19th century -- old-time amusement park Atlantic CIty style. Plenty of things for everybody to do with the restaurants, shops, kitsch stores on the Boardwalk.

clean and great for kids

By Lori R |

My grand children had a great time. Everything was so clean. 80 tickets for 60.00 most rides are about 3-4 tickets. ok value . will return

A Good Time

By taurus044 |

Great place for kids of all ages. Not a huge place, but big enough to spend an hour or two. Every Tuesday, all rides are 2 tickets before 5 pm. Take advantage of that! Funnel cakes and ice cream are a must-have.

Disappointing

By Mike K |

Finally did this after living here for 16 years. Not much I must say. Good views of the AC beach and skyline but very bush and could be a lot more interesting with some better games and rides. Didn't stay long as it was really for young children

Fun - try at night!

By 711carolr |

Enjoyed the rides, even though my kids didn't ride very many and there really aren't a lot there. Cost is a little pricy. Helicopter ride would've been great if it wouldn't have been so expensive (but understandable).

Nice addition to the boardwalk

By shelbz |

We were there on Memorial Day weekend so they had the amusement park all lit up and all the rides and games were open. The ferris wheel lights up in bright multi neon colors which are super neat to view at night. The games and rides are geared towards the kids so it gives the parents a break and the kids a fun time. Prices were'nt to bad either.

Steel Pier Amusement Park

By LilJamm |

Was surprised it had so many rides that toddlers could enjoy. My granddaughter loved it. Tickets prices are a little pricey, but it's the summer season!!

Fun. Fun. Fun

By Ruth B |

Really awesome amusements. Overlooking the beach and Boardwalk. Free admission. Pay per ride. Or pay to play. Great atmosphere. Really enjoyed ourselves!! Highly recommended. Fun day for all

Worth visiting

By Jay H |

Happened by chance to stop here while staying in AC, at the urging of my daughters.
It turned out to be a memorable experience.
The Steel Pier is a long time staple and historic site.
It is right off the AC boardwalk, and has plenty of attractions and rides.
You have a wonderful view of the Atlantic ocean, and all of the hotels and casinos from the pier.
Worth visiting if in AC

walking tour along beach

By Jarrod T |

the boardwalk is filled with t shirt shops and quick food joints. Along the way you might consider stopping at the steel pier for entertainment. I feel that this is a carnival atmosphere with a lot of canrnies trying to get you to play there games. At the end of the pier is a helicopter ride that will take you up the shore to see the city. I think its reasonably arounf $40 per and they seem busy. I did not take the ride because Ive been on helicopters on less than ideal situations. Overall, OK

Great park on the pier!

By junglequeenrfc |

This place is awesome! Took a ride on the sling shot. I have been on these a few times but the view here is incredible.

Fun place for kids and family

By KY1982 |

This place was fun and affordable for my family! We enjoyed ourselves, there was something to do for all of us. Our kids range from 3 to 12 and they had fun. Pretty cheap too. We will come back

Steel Pier Amusement Park

By 816jodip |

The ride prices are sky high, it was absolutly ridiculous the amount they charged for each ride, if I remember correctly, for my 18 yr old son and my 9 yr old grandson to ride the mouse roller coaster it would have been 17 dollars!!!, the games are priced reasonably but you need to win alot of games to get a bigger prize so in essence you are still spending a lot more money

Some great food to be had here .

By tcgray177 |

We had a blast here food was great people gave you a feeling of home . Food prices were a little high but you get what you pay for a ton of good food. The stores and food places are very clean .

a historical Pier with amusements

By ermagertz |

I enjoyed visiting this pier for the amusement rides as well as the history. I visited at night which is a great time to see all of the lights of Atlantic City also. There is a nice assortment of rides for adults, families and children so if you are going to be in the area it is worth checking out.

Beautiful Ferris Wheel....make your trip fun

By Sheri M |

Smile and laugh again as you try to win a prize, scream on a ride, or watch your friends and loved ones enjoy the pleasures of the Steel Pier. There is a helicopter ride at the end of the pier - super fun! There is also a cage that is sling shotted into the air! What a feeling!!! Whatever you choose to do....just do it! You will love the memories.

Old time fun

By Darinann |

Took my nephew here last summer and had a ball. I was hemoraging money but I guess thats par for the course. After hurricane Sandy had her way with this historic site it has been restored to its former beauty

Fun rides and games

By jkc1231 |

Steel pier was enjoyed by my kids.... wish there had been a group for cheaper tickets thks year though.. every other year there has been one... but I didn't see one this year. Still, they had a blast. The new ferris wheel is running.... air conditioned cars... it is super tall... couldn't get any of my group to go on though. Quite a few kiddie rides and bigger ones as well. Many carnival like games to choose from also.

A Former Icon Just Mediocre Today

By Richard C |

This once famous landmark is decades past its glory.

It is boring and needs an entire rebuilding.

It is too commercial and mundane.

Historic Games/Rides and Great Views

By Joe S |

Steel Pier, right across from Trump's place, is a classic and historic, old time-y AC stop that you have to check out. They even offer rental helicopter rides sometimes at the edge of the pier. Basic carnival rides and games, but there is something seriously fun about stepping back in time and playing carnival games on the boardwalk.

Good visit for kids for couple of hours

By Rocky3636 |

We spent couple of hours here and kids loved it. Each ride is certain # of tickets and we bought 50 tickets for something like $45. Not a bad deal given our kids had fun going on the rides. For a Saturday afternoon, the rides are all pretty much with no wait time and very few riders. Not sure if that is usual. There is also a helicopter ride for $50 per person if you like . We did that as well and the experience was ok and it's something like a check box if you ever wanted to go on a helicopter...

Old style fun that is still fun today.

By Whimpy B |

This place is a very traditional outdoor amusement pier. They have the carnival food and rides and a lot of fun for adults and kids. Just to walk out to the end and back and see the ocean view is worth the trip. Great place and must see in Atlantic City.

I JUST DISCOVERED FRIED OREOS!

By JK128xoxo |

...and they were amazing! It helps that it was after a dinner on the Boardwalk that involved alcohol...but these are craveable!

Expensive but if you are on vacation-Enjoy!

By sjmcmurray77 |

We went there in september on the weekend. I realize that this was not busy season but was almost empty. All rides were open but they were expensive. I can say that I did crossbow, shooting, basketball games while I was there. We also took he helicopter ride which was beautiful if short. They were up front about how long it was and the route. Again, since we were on vacation what the heck. They got us up right away and the pilot was extremely nice while on it. Sad that they whole town seems to be closing up despite the beautiful temps outside.

A great amusement park

By marisolymaelo |

It is great amusement park for the family always visit when I go on vacation with the family have lots of fun great rides n ummm the food shops they have different food to pick from from pizza funnel cakes ice cream etc.

Helicopter rides

By weazy |

Great amusement area. Family fun. Lots of rides. Watched helicopter land and take off from a very close viewing area.

Not family friendly

By EILEEN A |

Cool place but the rides were much too expensive for it to be fmily friendly. Lot of people walking around, yet rides were empty.

So-so

By Ronald M |

Your typical amusement area. Prices seemed outrageous to me. Fun to watch the people ride and throw basketballs. Nothing to write home about.

awsome management

By beckyevansevans2016 |

had my service dog with me and wanted to ride the merry go round the girls working said no, they didnt know ADA laws. Asked for manager and he led me and Zeus to ride and said let them on. It was first time for Zeus to ride that and we had a great time

MUST go on the Ferris Wheel

By DreamsOfMusic |

We only ventured onto the Steel Pier to ride the Ferris Wheel. OMG this was such an awesome experience. It's $10 (plus tax) for a 15 min ride. While you wait there is a beautiful area to sit and watch the ocean. The ride is enclosed and very cozy (there is a fan overhead, & music playing). It is a very calm ride with an amazing view. This is now on my list for every visit to AC.

Daughter & Friend

By PatriciaD102013 |

I took my daughter & her friend to AC for two night stay I brought tickets from Groupon 80 for $40 great deal we went both nights it all the tickets I needs for them, I would definitely do this again the girls had a blast at Steel Pier. They Loved seeing the ocean from a lot of the rides. We went at Day & Night and the lights from the boardwalk was pretty.
Beware Do not feed the Seagull birds they will try to surround you & take you food no joke!

Fun Time!

By Megan V |

We visited without any knowing of what to expect. It was perfect for our 4 year old who likes to go on rides. There are tickets that need to be purchased, but it was worth it!

expensive fun

By Ella M |

much like santa monica pier and coney island. very crowded, lots of kids. games and rides are relatively expensive. quite a few rides and 98% all spin a circle of some sorts. fun way to spend and afternoon but be prepared to part with a lot of cash.

Great for the kids

By V2242QNjohnm |

plenty of rides and games for the kids. A good stop day or night. Better for the 8 to 12 y/o kids then Teens

Very amusing amusement park

By Lyrce |

You must check this out. They have upgraded it and it is very fun. It's not cheap but worth the money.

Steele Pier

By Kathy S |

Folks, This is not the original Steel Pier, the original burned down. The old pier was the coolest place, to much to mention. If you read , read about it and look at the pictures. It was the most memorable place to me as a kid and adult, miss it terribly.

Not what I remember...not even close.

By William0731 |

Sorry but my recollections of the Steel Pier of old were of the diving horse and all the wonderful rides and amusements of old. Although some new rides exist, perhaps my memories are slanted with time but it seems more like the boardwalk of Seaside on a pier over the ocean.

Few rides, more games

By Ron J B |

Rides were overpriced and the games were ridiculous. The cost to ride was more expensive than a good quality Disney ride!?

Nice on a Tuesday

By JFG0180 |

used a groupon here and kids had a lot fun. Tuesday has half price offer on tickets until 5:00pm and not a second later. Really liked the bumper cars and ferris wheel and they have one roller coaster.

Kid's Delight

By Yvonne D |

My grandchildren always get me to bring them to the Steel Pier whenever they are visiting during the summer. They really enjoy it there.

Not huge, but still fun

By Wine30 |

Lots of fun to be had. Rides and games galore. Look up the history before going to really enjoy the full experience. The helicopter ride seemed very expensive for the time people got on the tour.

Time spent together

By carolynr688 |

My grandkids had a great time there. If you go through Groupon you can get tickets at a discount. There were was just the right amount of rides for the kids. They had places to eat and they had gift shops to get souvenirs from.

the kids love the arcade and the rides

By sally p |

kids had a blast in the arcade spent about forty dollars not bad all of us were playing games with the kids. taffy shop and walking tacos were a hit the kids loved it and i must say adults had fun too

despite the prices, it's STEEL a nice place

By Angie L |

Lined with carnival food and games, the Steel Pier is a small outlet into the ocean, mounted with a decent handful of amusement rides and other fun shenanigans.

My brother and I rode together on the Crazy Mouse, which cost us $7 each (I know, it's pretty bad). We were predicting something mild and sufficiently fun, but the dinginess and the abruptness of the ride blew past our expectations in a good way. I thought I was going to fall out of the car multiple times throughout, which I suppose is a good thing if you're looking for an adrenaline rush.

I don't have a lot of insight into the Steel Pier considering I rode on only one of its attractions, which WAS enjoyable though I am skeptical to say it was worth the price.

Rides and Games

By Lori A |

Steel pier has a lot of kiddy rides and carnival games to win stuff toys - great for families with kids - right on the ocean.

Kids had a great time! Worth going to!

By Marie Y |

My children, ages 4 and 7, had a wonderful time on the rides and playing games. The park is suitable for children of all ages, and it's definitely worth the cost of tickets.

Rainy and Expensive

By avgjoey |

Need to be on the pier, don't suggest to visit when raining or wet. The tickets for the rides were fairly expensive compared to other amusements visited. Still neat to be above the Ocean

Great rides, too crowded

By Sandy M |

Lots of rides for riders of all levels. Pier was too crowded to enjoy. No soc ial distancing or mask wearing.

Very nice Amusement Park on the water

By ELSUSHI921 |

They have rides and games for everyone, all shapes and sizes, there is plenty of cotton candy, ice cream, frozen shaved ices and more, its just a good time and the Pier is clean and kept up well.

The view from the Ferris Wheel was amazing-esp at night.

By Betsy D |

all rides are with tickets you must purchase. Deals were better before 6pm. good variety of rides and other entertainment

Crowded, dirty and smelly

By UrbanMonkey48 |

This is not the icon of old Steel Pier days. It is crowded and filthy and over run with the smells of greasy carnival food smells. Sorry, but not our cup of tea.

sightseeing with husband

By Gwenette H |

I really love this amusement park, after the storm they have rebuilt the Ferris Wheel, and added more attractions very family oriented. Plenty of rides and games of all ages.

Fun for the family

By Ginmimapey |

Lots of games and rides for all ages. Both kids one large stuffed animals. Nice location too. Rides are a bit expensive, example; one ride was 5 tickets each (1 ticket = $1) so a $10 2 minute ride for 2 kids. A bit much

The Wheel!!

By BizCat |

Came here at night with my family and had fun. The Wheel is a must if visiting AC for the first time. Otherwise, the rest of the rides and games average - much like a local carnival. Tickets costed more than they should but kids had fun and it's something to do. They do have a banner about a new roller coaster opening next year, so I'm anxious to come back for that.

Great view

By dianap2012 |

We visited the steel park- it was fun to walk on the pier. We paid the $15 a piece to do the Ferris wheel. It was fun but pricey for 3 turns around. Was worth it since we are not sure if we will ever come back to Atlantic City.

Nice

By MRS.TRAVELS.OFTEN |

This place is by the Hard Rock Casino or Ocean and it has rides and carnival games. It’s open till like 2am and is sooooo pretty at night. At the end of the dock they have helicopter rides along the boardwalk.

Boring

By Joann V |

This Amusement park is for children.Pricey and everything is crammed together. My children wanted to leave as they said the rides were boring.

Fun for families

By Lynn M |

A carnival atmosphere makes this a great place for families. There are amusement park rides for kids and risk takers (like the giant sling shot and helicopter rides) plus amusement park games. It overlooks the ocean, and has wonderful views. A little bit dirty, but great fun just the same.

Fun when you need it

By Joanne R |

My feeling is it needs some modernization done we like taking our grandson there. I hope they add some new things this year.

still beautiful

By PP0270 |

the peer is still beautiful. there are rides for all ages and the tickets to go on is reasonable. the place is well kept and there are no hassle to go on the rides.

Magnificant Views From the Observation Wheel

By Barbara W |

I've been on other observation wheels, and was looking forward to checking this one out as well. At $16 and change (after tax), this ride is a bargain. The view of the beach and boardwalk is spectacular -- and the slow moving rotation allows riders to relax and take it all in. On the day I went, we got a three-rotation (15-min) ride, though I am not sure if that's always the case. Highly recommended!

Nice amusement park

By Bernardo F |

They've definitely crammed as much as they can onto this pier. There's a kids area, and then lots of good adult rides. The prices are a bit high, but then again, it is a tourist destination. It's safe to be there at night.

Fun for all...

By Family#1 |

What a wonderful way to spend the evening. The rides were so much fun and spectacular to look at during the evening hours. Our older children loved the bigger rides and the younger kids were so entertained with their own rides. Going back for sure!!!!

great family spot

By Zayde Joe |

Kids wanted to go on rides - many to select from for children of all ages - clean - and it's size makes it easy to take kids and watch them

Fun Day On Steel Pier

By 777scoop |

Steel Pier Amusement Pier is average in rides. Not to many games there for children. Pier space is the problem of how many rides they can put on the pier..

Kids always love this stop

By JG717 |

It has special operating hours, so check them out before heading over. But we love to pop in. You can get a wrist band or pay for rides as you go (but that can get expensive).

Enjoyed the Steel Pier

By K B |

I really enjoyed our first visit to the Steel Pier Amusement Park in Atlantic City last Friday. Although I do not ride amusement rides, they had lots of games to play (which I played and won a nice stuffed animal). They also offered helicopter rides that I might take advantage of on my next visit. Had a great time!

Was ok

By John |

Went there on a Saturday night. Was way overcrowded. No one was wearing masks. Pier was clean and rides appeared well taken care of. Wish I could say the same for the large crowd that was there. Would definitely go back during a weekday to enjoy the pier more.

Mini Vacation

By Dawn N |

Took the kids to the steel pier ... a lot of kid rides and games.. fun for the family .. The Pier also has few rides for the older children

A Good Place For A Boardwalk Stroll

By Willow1223 |

My husband and I took a stroll after dinner on the boardwalk ( we stayed overnight at the new Ocean Resort). and decided to check out the pier. I remember it from the early 1960's when my parents took me there. It's certainly different with some crazy, high tech rides but we enjoyed all the activity, the crowds, the ocean breeze, the foods. Pricey, yes, but it's a tourist spot. Nice for families. Nothing out of the ordinary but a real Jersey landmark. Try the funnel cake! Just 4.00 and plenty for two! Yum!

fun times

By 26michale |

Fun things to do Took our grandson Labor Day weekend. He had a great time. Can't wait to get down there again to ride the ferris wheel It was not opened yet. Hopefully before Labor day of 2018

Nice brand new ferris wheel

By Bernardo F |

it's a nice amusement park. a decent amount of rides and a nice new ferris wheel. It's priced for the tourist area. but its a decent park.

Old and Tired.

By ramblinvan |

Old and not in a good way. Whole pier looks tired and in need of major renovation. (I see new roller coaster is on its way next year) Rides not evenly spaced out for kids of all ages. Good for the little ones. We went at night during the air show week and the pier was empty. Pretty sad. Used to be a huge draw for the families. Now its entrance is overrun by homeless and middle-aged drunks smoking. Walked in and out in less than 15 minutes.

Nice "hidden" ocean-view bar and patio at Ferris Wheel

By David M |

Kids or no kids, check out this patio location at the Ferris Wheel. High-top patio chairs provide a great view for enjoying a drink while overlooking the ocean. Always a breeze even on the hottest days. The bar is not well advertised although there are signs on the pier if you look for them. Happy hours specials daily.

A must

By Kiad816 |

I can never visit the Atlantic City Boardwalk without stopping by the pier! I have been going since I was a child and now my children enjoy it. There are your typical carnival/fair rides and attractions, foods and it is all overlooking the Atlantic ocean. You can purchase tickets for all the rides. They also have a helicopter ride and a slingshot which I would never have the guts to try lol. Those cost extra. We can't wait to visit again!

Under construction currently

By oceanguy2821 |

Much of the Steel Pier is under construction right now but it is still worth a visit while in AC. At the end are nice views of the boardwalk, especially at night.

Feels like we went 40 years back in time ...

By CudaJeff |

The Steel Pier is located right in front of the Trump Taj Mahal ...

Built and opened in 1898, the Steel Pier extends 1,000 feet (300m.) over the ocean. In 1904, a storm washed away part of it.

In 1924, a fire caused significant damage to the pier and got renovated. The pier used to be much longer, but another fire, in December 1969 shortened its size by about a third.

The original wooden pier with steel underpinnings was destroyed in a 3rd fire back in 1982 ; the current concrete structure dates from 1993.

Following a $23 million renovation, the Pier now features 25 rides, games, food kiosks, a family pub and a bar located on the water's edge, providing the best view of the ocean and frequent live entertainment!

When you start to walk on the Steel Pier , you feel a blast from the past ... as if you went 40 years back in time ...

All the rides are vintage ... you'll see a Carousel ... the Crazy Mouse ... a traditional Observation Wheel .... a "Flying Dutchman" ... and much more!!

Also all the classic games to win some stuff ... and you can get a ride in an old helicopter

The "fast food" shacks on the pier are very affordable too ...

Perfect for little kids and toddlers!

By N42429180 |

I have been to a lot of boardwalks for kids rides and this one is by far one of the best. Its the perfect size and the rides are very enjoyable for my 4yo. Best Ferris wheel I have ever been on! Its got its own bar!!

New rides...a fun location

By NYDiverAmy |

The Steel Pier is a great way to spend part of a day or night. Many of the rides are new and the kids loved them. The location, the pier in front of the Taj Mahal is convenient, as well as festive as you experience an amusement park (although it is small) and the beach in the same spot. The rides are pricey, but still worth checking out.

Coming to this pier since 1968

By TonyFinzFan |

Mom used to bring me here for the rides and shows. We saw the diving horse, gorilla lady, and plenty of entertainment. As a kid I loved the rides. I watched this pier rust and rot in the 70s. Fast forward to today. The life is back. Bustling and fun. My five-year old had a great time on the rides but the best part is people watching.

Cons: I miss the aquarium

Axe Throwing was a lot of fun

By Shawn830 |

The Axe throwing was a lot of fun they guys give you suggestions and hints would definitely recommend. Always a fun time at the Pier.

Why construction now?

By Christian C |

I was there around 4th of july and the back part was closed until 3pm and there was alot of construction ongoing. This is the worst time of year to have construction and late openings. We looked around and did not return.

Old and Run Down

By Travel25346533585 |

An old and run down attraction. Homeless people everywhere, begging for money. No Security or Police to be seen. either. Gave three stars just out of respect to those trying to make an honest living there

Ferris wheel! Bar at end of pier-

By Laura G |

3rd largest Ferris wheel in the wold! 227 ft- newly renovated! Speakers and air conditioning in enclosed cabins with comfortable seating and a small table. My friends and I got a beer from the bar at the end of the pier and had a great ride! The views are awesome! Friendly workers and attention to safely. Great experience! Will do again. I have a moderate fear of heights and had no problem with this top notch ride.

Carnival style fun for all ages.

By Sandra H |

My husband and I walked to the end of the pier to have a drink at the bar. We watched everyone on the rides and enjoyed the cool breeze and evening sun out on the water.

They need to do better - Don't go after labor day

By ROCHELLE J |

Games are overpriced. The rides were closed because the season was over. The fries and funnel cake was horrible and the stands are dirty. They need to open the rides based on the weather and not the season. The weather was gorgeous and a lot of stuff was closed. Don't go after labor day and especially if you have children.

Family Fun

By Joni W |

Entire family had a GREAT time! So much to do, so many rides to enjoy! The kids loved the rides & the games. We all loved the typical Boardwalk food! Great way to spend the day!

beautiful scenic vistas

By Indeed111 |

Make certain you go just before dusk because the sunset is beautiful from the pier. The amusement park rides are varied so all would enjoy. We didn't eat so I can't comment on that. A fun evening

Ho, hum...

By Tom P |

The rides are about average by today's standards. Very large discounts are available via Groupon's mobile site. Steel Pier was no more tacky than the rest of A.C.

love the observation wheel

By kennethh330 |

great view of the ocean and the boardwalk on the new observation wheel. perfect scenic attraction for atlantic city

great for the young AND old(er)

By Steve S |

wife & I had fun like a kid..highly recommend...great food too. plenty of rides...decent prices...will be back

Happy days are back!

By Go2Warp |

After being closed for a time, the historic Steel Pier is back and better than ever! A must-do place for families with rides for little ones and some thrill rides for teens.

RIDE RIDES RIDES

By Michelle S |

Took my 11 year old nice. She loved all the rides and the price to ride was very reasonable. Had a great time

Still a fun time!

By Mrsoleary928 |

All boardwalk games, foods and drinks anywhere are overpriced so this was no surprise. Even if you go just to walk around and people watch you can have a nice day/evening here.

Great for the kids

By rochellemcelroy |

Great for the kids, Great kids activity for them to also have fun because they cannot be on the casino floor so this makes it very fun for them my children love it

OK Amusement

By KrispyDonut |

Small amusement park. Rides for young children however the ticket prices didn’t quite match the amount of time per ride. Inconsistent on that was a bit disappointing. No music on the carousel ride. For the 50 or so tickets we had the kids had fun, but we’re ready to go.

A long walk but worth the effort.

By Vinny V |

Ok this is something that will bring back memories from your childhood that you thought were gone . I recently stroled down the boards with my family taking in the ocean breeze . Once we got to STEEL PEIR it was the smiles on my grandchildren that made me a kid again.

The Steel Pier

By Wanda c |

Steel pier is basically a year round carnival with games rides & food. It has a Ferris wheel that must have 1,000 different ways to light up it is constantly changing. Relaxing to sit on a bench & just watch. for being a small place it had a lot there.

Steel pier visit

By Cat544 |

Super place to visit. Amazing rides and games. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there. So different to our amusement parks in England.

Our four-year-old loved it

By frani48 |

Our four-year-old loved it. Many of the rides are new, some are the same as before the storm. It still has the same “carnival “ feel. Was really pleased to see what was up and running as it was really damaged during the last hurricane

To Old to Enjoy

By lauraenglishbrewer |

The 6 girls from the wrestling team (ages 9-12) loved the thrill, but if there were 6 rides, it was a lot, they were very expensive, so you only rode the ride once. The usual crap was available for $3 for two balls, or $3 per person to squirt water into a clowns mouth, and you know how little kids are......I hate those things.

Old place

By mike1957 |

It's a good nostalgic place to be but it needs to be cleaned up a lot the wear and tear is starting to tell good to keep the kids busy

Small but fun!

By Sandi Z |

We recently took our grandsons there, they had 4rides for 2-4year olds. The games were difficult, but the bungee ball with people on it kept their attention. The new observation wheel looks like fun, but expensive for the kids.

Its ok

By Cook125 |

Hard to review when you spend your life on that boardwalk I knew it in its hay day it was over the time .Now its a small operation . I like it but i knew Steel Pier trust me this is not steel pier

It's ok

By MissShaina |

It's a little dirty and smells like a garbage can. The people watching is great. My husband and I went here for a long weekend, definitely stayed to long. We did the helicopter ride and that was REALY cool!

Kids Just Love It

By millardp2 |

The rides were a little expensive. The kids enjoyed them tho. Again we do this every year.Great idea.

Cute entertainment area

By Renee M |

We walked the pier during both day and night. Although fairly small it was an interesting location with a few rides. I would recommend this for those with younger children or young teens. The park does look beautiful at night against the oceanic backdrop full of lights and sounds. Rides and carnival are fairly pricy as expected. The park was clean as were went during the off-season.

Just Another Run Down AC Activity

By Samantha Netzband |

Run down and expensive. If it's busy don't even bother because it is so crowded you can't move. Attendants for the games were rude. If you have kids I'd go during the day, but for adults this can be skipped.

An Hour of Fun

By DutchLace |

Typical amusement rides and games. Nostalgic feel. There is a helicopter ride offering at the end too. Made us feel like kids again.

Steel Pier

By Dolphins256 |

Kids had a great time, plenty of rides, got a great discount on Groupon. We did not have to wait in any long lines. Friendly staff.

Fun For All

By LiketoeatCincinnati |

Lots of rides and food at iconic pier. This is good fun for adults and kids. Right near Hard Rock on the boardwalk. This is a must see.

Nice & small but pricey

By Ayelet B |

We have been there with our 3 boys 11,13 & 17 one evening in August.
Overall it was fun but pricey....

On my Bucket List- I made it once!

By Heather A |

So every year, I try to made it to the pier. I look at it on the Internet and each year I try as I am there on business and staying just across the boardwalk. It is near the end of their season so it is always close.

Finally one year I got there just in time. Went to the gate, paid for the ticket, jumped for joy and said to my husband how I amazed I was that we were finally there.

I likened it to the gates of heaven because...

Just as I set my sights on the rides, a man told my husband we would have to leave.. It was to close too closing time. They gave us a refund of course.

So it was like heaven and then they tell you something about time and you find yourself on the boardwalk again.

Anyway, it was great. Not their fault that it takes me 5 hours to drive there, I just need to get an earlier start and make sure my business trip includes a free evening before.

Kind of funny really, how I was there but only for a few moments. The anticipation is unreal, but one day before the next hurricane takes its toll- I will see it all!

Fun for the kids, but rather expensive.

By RicChris_Brown |

The Pier has an arcade the kids were excited to visit, but were disappointed because it was 90% claw machines. They wanted to see the arcades like the movie Pixels.

The Slingshot was awesome. If you go at a slow period, they will offer a second ride for $10 each. Hold out for their second offer of $5 each. That would be worth the second ride.

FUN SPOT

By DennisBeatleboy |

This has been here since I was kid. loved to go then and still do...Go for some fun. The rides are not like the big parks but certainly fun

Come one; come all!

By Ryan Codine |

Want to take a break from the casinos and walking on the boardwalk? Go to Steel Pier to ride some rides or play a game or two. Ferris Wheel at night is surreal with the led lights overlooking the ocean.

Awesome!

By boogity |

Walked through it at night - was like a carnival! Surprised there were helicopter rides at the end of the pier. Loved the atmosphere. Did not look at prices, but my teenagers would have loved it!

Fun for famalies while visiting AC

By Annette P |

The Steel Pier is always garunteed to keep the kids entertained while visiting a city known mostly for gambling.

Always fun, good rides and games.

By Bernardo F |

Right across from Taj Mahal, it's a fun arcade and pier with lots of good rides, skill games, and snack bars. Yes, bring your money

Quick family getaway

By TravelingClearwater |

I let my 11 year old son decide what to do with his own money. First he wanted to check out the Steel Pier and go on the rides. After walking around he decided he would save his money. Lines too long and prices too high. He played a couple carnival games the gentleman with the archery game was nice. $5 a shot to play the carnival games (archery & b-b gun). 5-10 tickets per ride at $1 each or 50 tickets for $40. We did waste $10 in the arcade playing games and winning tickets. 200 tickets= 10 lollipops. Not a bad place to stop if you catch bracelet night but otherwise overpriced.

Beautiful at night

By cindycardona |

The amusement park is packed but not so packed that you can't have a good time. I would go at night because of the beautiful lights. Plenty of fun.

All ages can enjoy!!!

By tameekaa2016 |

My kids had a great time! It reminds me of a small Coney Island in NY. We played lots of games. They can get pricey being ,$5 per person a game. I feel it should be cheaper a game. My younger and older kids got on the rides. I wanted a candy apple so bad but they never had them available. Its best to go on a Tuesday because buy one ticket for the price of 2. I would definitely go back again.

Need new management team

By YanThePink |

Too old school. And not enough animation. They have a lot of old games but they need people to animate the spaces. Even at the 3 points basketball game, the guy with the mic was talking to his friends around…

Missed opportunity- Helicopter

By JlcLind |

My husband & I wanted to do the shoreline Helicopter tour. They went over pricing and then weighed us. I made sure I was allowed to ride since I’m pregnant & they said I could. The woman at the front desk handed an iPad type device to a man in a yellow coat. After reviewing, what I assume to be our weights (500 pounds total), he told us he needed an hour or so to burn more fuel before being able to give us a tour. Basically, he was saying we weighed too much. From my understanding, it’s a 300 pound weight limit per person, up to 3 riders. That’s 900 pounds, nowhere near our 2 weights. I was extremely embarrassed & walked away without a our. Safe to say, we won’t be back.

Great for Kids.

By Road756523 |

Mr. Trump built the amusement park so children would have a place to go. Since he left town no-one has done anything. Time for the city to step up and add things.

Enjoy the Pier. Avoid the Wheel

By Ronald Fairbairn |

Avoid the ferris wheel but the rest is all fun. The ferris wheel is not what you expect. You are enclosed in a glass chamber for four people. The windows are all very dirty and you have no way to clean them, so it is like looking out of your car window when it is smudged with dirt. The ferris wheel made one very slow turn - stopping often to take on new people - rather than simply going around and around like a ferris wheel is supposed to and then took another very slow revolution. The view of the ferris wheel itself from the ferris wheel, is cool, but there really is not much of a view of Atlantic City from high up that is different from ground level. If you take this review seriously I've saved you about $20.

Kinda cool

By Richard C |

Kinda cool and fun but man what a ripoff price wise, its like a roadside carnival on steroids worth a look

So much fun

By hollifieldabc |

We had a blast at Steel Pier. Loved how you could see the ocean from a lot of the rides. We went at night and the lights from the boardwalk was pretty.

A great setting

By scott g |

Some rides were closed, but there was a variety of rides and games for the family. $15 for the wheel, but the views were incredible.

Ok if you have kids

By PLANABC |

This was a typical fun fare pier for kids and adults who wished fun seeker rides. Not much else to do otherwise, although at the end of the pier is a helicopter ride that you can go on to see the shore line. It takes 4 mins and we watched it come and go. Cost was $49 and was such a short quick trip - shows in the small cost.

Closes mid week and opens at weekends for when the families bring their children

This is a great family place, but......

By Jerseybob175 |

While working in the area, I decided to talk a walk out on the Steel Pier. This very friendly, clean and exciting amusement area offers fun for very young children, teens and adults. The rides are reasonable in cost and they even offer a helicopter tour at the end of the pier for that awesome AC view from the air. I arrived late in the evening and the pier was very busy and active with families, groups and just everyone having fun. SO what is the “but”? While watching the giant bungee launch, (very cool) a young man approx. 20 years old wearing a Steel Pier employee windbreaker approached me from behind aggressively and closely. I turned around quickly and he continued to be aggressive about taking a ride on the amusement. At one point we were almost chest to chest despite my requests and direction to move away. No booze on my part but based on his aggressiveness and unwillingness to back away I can only guess he was under the influence of something. I ended the event by pushing past him. Sadly this left a poor impression. The incident was probably less than a minute and very few seemed too noticed despite his raised voice. I would still think a family or group can still have fun, just keep a close eye on all in your group.

Seems to be under construction

By Robert M |

We usually have a good time on the pier but this past weekend it seemed a lot of rides were closed or under renovation - which is a good thing. The game room at the entrance needs to be overhauled - it's very outdated but fun boardwalk gemes nevertheless.

Entertainment on the boardwalk

By mrice13 |

Fun times for the kids. Not hard to find discount tickets regarding this amusement park. A nice change from the normal sites. Not a large attraction enabling the parents to still find some time for the casino later on.

Beautiful place to visit

By Jeanine Waddell |

Great place for the family. Funnel cakes were the best. It needs to have some more rides. Make the pier a little bit bigger or wider. But I had a great time.

Just like the good old days

By Ryan Codine |

Yesterday when I sat down in here for the 1st time in a while I ordered food. They haven't changed a bit and I mean that in a good way. Too bad I'm too "big" for the booths otherwise they'd be more enjoyable for me to sit in. Staff were friendly as they were over the years of me dining here.

What a Wheel!

By Elman1952 |

Finally got to ride the wheel on the Steel Pier. It was midweek, so the pier was not too crowded. They have bumper cars, carousel, the wheel, small roller coaster, etc. Lots of games of chance to win stuffed toys. Typical shore amusements. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The rides were well maintained. The crowd was having a good time. An excellent experience. The reason for only 4 stars is the cost. Including the taxes, the wheel was $12/person with a group discount (3 or more riders), the Crazy Mouse roller coaster was $8. To me, that seems just a little steep for boardwalk rides, but we had a great time!

Good for a quick visit, but could use some more rides & some newer rides!

By Bruce F |

Good for a quick visit, but could use some more & newer rides! We found that an hour or two was all that we needed here, just wish they had some better rides.

NIce

By luv2camp2007 |

I walked out to the end of the pier to the bar, tried ordering a pina coloda since I was on vacation but the lady was fresh out. So I had a mango daquri instead and sat at the rail watching the ocean and moved to the other side to look down towards Resorts Casino. typical rides and games.

kept looking at the wheel and on my second day bought a ticket to ride the wheel. Sign advertised $9.99 per ride but with taxes it was closer to $11.50. Some really amazing views from on top of wheel looking up and down the boardwalk. Car felt very stable. I am a little fearful of heights as I get older!

Helicopter Ride and Ferris Wheel

By Stephanie |

Steel Pier is always very crowded and bustling but we have always had a great time. We just did the new Ferris Wheel and the helicopter ride for the first time and both were definitely worth it!

Nice park!

By Bernardo F |

Lots of ride choices, and not super super expensive. From kids to adults, you'll find something for almost everyone. Lots of crane machines and places to eat too. Thrilling new rides and a few older ones as well too.

Fun time

By Sanjeev_Sharma |

Thought the place is small but is packed with lots of games for all ages

Kids and adults both can have a lot of fun

If you are the adventurous tule try the sling shot its sure to set your heart racing

Once done just chill at the beach of take a walk along the broad walk. Lots of eating options along with fun n more games

Nothing exciting

By Auss1e63 |

Much like all the other fun piers along the Jersey shore. The Wheel, an impressive 227 ft Ferris wheel opened in 2017. I was looking forward to riding but at $15+ tax for a 15 minute ride, it seemed overpriced to me.

Fun for the kids

By Elisabeth C |

Bought a groupon which was well worth it. Paying full price for tickets would have been pretty pricey for the type of rides on the pier. My 9 and 10 year old had a great time.

Vacation in AC

By A C |

We had a lot of fun at Steel Pier, the rides were great!!

Took advantage of the 80 ticket deal on Groupon in advance. We managed to save alot, by purchasing a ticket package prior to going on vacation.

The only thing left to pay for, was food, and they had great options to choose from. Especially liked the funnel cake!!

Great activity for the family and the young at heart.

Like a carnival on the ocean

By Frank P |

Busy place with a giant ferris wheel. lots of rides and booths for the young and the young at heart. A little pricey, but its along the boardwalk and jutting out into the ocean.

Good Time to Spend with the Kids.

By WnyCoqui |

This Park has a wide variety of different rides for small children primarily. There are a couple for the older kids but they might get bored. Purchase your tickets via groupon to save a couple of bucks.

fun spot on the boardwalk

By JP-in-MD |

Numerous rides that can be accessed via tickets or a wristband. There is a really good junior coaster (Loco Motion) and a good wild mouse coaster (Crazy Mouse). Parking is available at the Hard Rock Hotel just behind it.

Way too expensive

By Jewell de Lis |

My husband and I walked through here in hopes of entertaining ourselves, but everything was too expensive to even consider riding the rides or playing the games.

Lots of Rides for All Ages!

By Gina T |

We brought my 7 year old grandson here on Memorial Day Weekend. He loved the bumper cars and after a hard hit, the space-maintainer in his mouth was broken and fell out! But he really enjoyed the rides and even went on the bumper cars a few more times! We had some ice cream and fried Oreos which were pretty good. The rides had a height chart & you could ride if you were the correct height or taller. Some rides were for children, some could be ridden with an adult or 2-4 riders and other rides were for teens/adults only. There were also 2 person helicopter tours over the ocean! Just outside the entrance to the rides, as well as inside the ride area, there were a few arcade-style games you could play to win prizes.

Needs to be maintained

By amit803 |

Nothing very attractive about this place. Looks old and worn out! Definitely needs attention to be redesigned or remodelled!

Ferris wheel

By M-F_Trackers |

We were here for the day and the only amusement that was open was the giant Ferris wheel. It is 237 feet tall. It costs 22.50 with the 12.56% amusement tax. You get to ride in an enclosed temperature controlled car. You go around 3 times. Do it once

Reawaken Your Inner Child….

By blackeldo |

….AND FOR EXISTING KIDS - A GREAT VENUE

Only hardened gamblers avoid the BOARDWALK** at ATLANTIC CITY. And only curmudgeonly 75 yo non-gambling visitors like me will think about avoiding the iconic STEEL PIER fun fair. But l didn’t think about avoiding for long – once the BOARDWALK TROLLEY** pulled up outside and I saw all those bright lights and crowds of people in holiday mode having a good time, I bailed out and joined the revelers.
I thought this the perfect time to relive my youth when I did in fact visit a fun pier or two.
I haven’t seen enough of the opposition to say STEEL PIER is the best fun pier – let’s just say that it seemed to have all the activities and drink/eats/merchandise outlets I associate with such places. Certainly younger people had great smiles – I’d say this is the perfect place to bring your kids or grand-kids.

TIPS
- the pier shuts down at slow times but the WHEEL remains open 7/365.
- be prepared for a line for the WHEEL popular dates (my visit was on the LABOR DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND). I figured it took me about 40 minutes to reach the gondolas.
- ACCESS is OK – towards the northern end of the casino strip on the boardwalk. Lotsa street parkiig and paid lots in the area + casinos have plenty parking. If relying on public transport, the ATLANTIC CITY BUS TERMINAL which gets buses in from all around the coast not to mention interstate, is a 1900 yard walk. If you don’t wanna walk that far (boardwalk itself 650 yards) the boardwalk trams** go by frequently.

Fun place for the kids

By UncMB7337 |

We enjoyed our time at the Steel Pier. While the rides could be seen as a little pricey, the kids like them. They have kiddie rides and rides that are geared more toward older kids. They also have a handful of high thrill rides, many of which you have to pay extra for (helicopter, sling shot, sky wheel, etc). There are also some cool games on the Pier - very much like your typical festival/carnival games. You’ll spend some money in there but overall the amusement park is a good place to get away from the beach for a night or two.

Sling Shot

By Cookie |

As I stepped up on the Steel Pier it looked a little dated and congested. We walked through and was amazed at the price of one of the rides ($20). We thought what is the Sling Shot that it cost so much money. We continued on because there was nobody at the ride. On our way back through we saw what the ride was about. I couldn't believe that the ride consisted of being slung high in the air, several times on a cable. I'm not knocking it because everyone has there own thought of fun. However, I couldn't help but think, how do people think of these rides to take people's hard earned money. For some people it's hard earned.

Not big or impressive

By Jennifer S |

Too many kiddie rides and too expensive for the good ones. 8 tickets ($16 per person per ride) is too much for a 2 minute carnival ride.

the rides and food

By Jayson H |

this place is exciting with thrills and chills the rides are cool and the food is not very much and everybody there is nice

Fun!

By Barbra039 |

There is a wide selection of amusement rides for all age ranges. Ticket purchase price was as expected.

Boardwalk Pier FUN!

Very large selection of rides and amusements for kids of all ages. Ticket packages can get expensive but there's an affordable "all-day" bracelet option.

Summer Fun

This is so great having an amusement park which is actually on a pier over the ocean, definately a must see/do

Lots of simple, nostalgic fun for our kids...

By clo110 |

After avoiding the Steel Pier for a number of years during our visits to Atlantic City, we finally relented to the requests from our kids who had seen the rides from the beach below. And it was exactly what we had anticipated, super expensive for rather simple, common carnival rides. After one or two rides per kid, we wandered off, expecting never to return.

Thankfully, I poked around on the Steel Pier webpage and noticed their Two Ticket Tuesday special, which when combined with purchasing a big batch of ride tickets, allows our kids to enjoy rides at $2 per ride, rather than $6-$9 per ride at full price on other days. That's a game-changer for us.

So, we've now made it a regular routine during our vacations in AC to spend a few hours at the Steel Pier on Tuesday afternoons to allow the kids to jump around from ride to ride. From ages 5-10, they absolutely love it. It's a highlight of the week. The rides are mostly old, rusty, and weathered, but our kids don't care. They have favorites, and they find new favorites each year.

Overall, Steel Pier is crowded and dirty and overpriced. But it's not terribly unlike any local country fair or small-time amusement park, except it's located on the ocean. I don't think it's worth the expense at full-price, but if you can utilize the deals, it's a great way to spend a few hours with kids without getting sand in your britches.

Great place to people watch

It's fun to walk on the pier over the ocean. It's also pretty hot during the summer. There is little escape from the sun in the park. Games are a bit expensive. I can't imagine taking a family . Buy the wristbands. I would assume that if you're going to spend any time there it's a better deal. Play the claw game at the INSIDE gaming parlor. Go to the one with the boxes. You'll be surprised what you can win. I won $30 worth of ride tickets with $1.00 put into the machine.

Sunset at the Pier

By 4Deboranne |

Expensive, so we didn’t go on any rides instead just walked the Pier at Sunset which was enjoyable and a must for all visitors.

Avoid it if you can.

By tracys2007 |

They charge an arm and a leg for tickets for your typical “carnival” rides. But then make adults go on a LOT of them for 48”- 56”. So tickets go fast. My 50” daughter goes on a lot of these same rides at other parks. For less money. The ones for her height are baby rides in comparison to what she’s done, so it wasn’t much fun for us. Nothing too special, and nothing horrible. Typical carnival.

Cool location

By Skye1207 |

Didn't ride any rides, but walked through to the end of the pier and looked like typical fair rides. Not sure about the pricing, but how cool is it to go up on a Ferris wheel on a gorgeous ocean pier?

Not bad

By lecterit |

Small and old place but well laid out. Quite enough rides to enjoy for a good hour or two. Nice games to play as well. Easy way to spend lots of money..

The new Wheel at Steel Pier is the best non-gambling attraction in town!

By 845Greg |

The Wheel At Steel Pier is hands down the best non-gambling attraction in Atlantic City! I was eagerly awaiting the completion of the Wheel and just barely missed the opening of it last year. After waiting almost another 12 months to go back, I was greatly rewarded with a beautiful sunny day to visit. It doesn't matter how old you are because you are guaranteed to enjoy the spectacular views from the top of the ride. And one of the attendants there (William Kennedy) made it extra fun with some much appreciated humor. If you are in town, make sure to set some time aside to visit before leaving! I will definitely be going back, and next time I will try to time it with the sunset.

Small and Expensive

By Alyssa W |

The pier rides are rather expensive. You must buy tickets to ride there are no wrist bands available. The ferris wheel is not included in the tickets you must pay separate. The games are rigged. We played a water gun game and we could clearly see the winner did not win but the person in charge of the stand insisted they did. Typical. We've seen this happen many places other then here. There aren't many rides for toddlers. It's definitely a small selection of rides for kids, half of the pier consists of rides that children are not tall enough to ride. On the motorcycle ride we had to yell to the man in charge of the ride to let our daughter off because she was clearly falling off of the motorcycle due to it being too bouncy and dangerous for a little girl her size with absolutely no straps holding her in. We asked if we could have our tickets back since she didn't get to ride the ride for more than 10 seconds and he wouldn't give us our tickets back. I'd recommend raising the height requirement on that ride, this could be very dangerous.

Bday Weekend

By Jagger L |

Rides for kids are great couple rides for adults . Music great workers very friendly and encourage u to ride.. Games good Packed the entire weekend.. Helicopter rides stayed packed entire time

Highly underrated!!

By BronxBomber42 |

Atlantic City gets a bad rap. It's a wonderful place to take your friends and family even if you don't gamble. Tje Steel Pier is a wonderful place to take the kids and PopPop as well. Enjoy an adult beverage at the Landshark Beach Bar after the rides.

Need to reduce price of newest ferris wheel.

By Mike K |

If you are going to Atlantic City in the summer, go to Steel Pier Website in the winter. They have "Buy one book of tickets/get one free". Saves you a ton. Also, on Tuesdays from 12pm to 5pm, all rides are only 2 tickets(some rides are normally 10). My only complaint....and it's a big one......they charge $15 for a ride on the newest ferris wheel and you can't use your tickets you bought...it's a separate charge. Too expensive!! Didn't go on it for that reason.

FAMILY FUN

By NANCY A |

FUN for all ages, many rides and they have a helicopter ride that takes you over the ocean. Nice boardwalk to the rides, and great pizza to eat.

Fun for all!

By kidzilla |

This is an exciting and festive place to visit. It offers great shops, arts and crafts, clothes, sun goods and also restaurants.

Only as fun as you make it

By BigTimeTravelFamily |

Best to do the wristband or you'll be spending 5 tickets for rides which comes out to about 1 dollar a ticket. Nice atmosphere. Safe. Look up special days before you go. Very cool to ride the rides over the beach.

Fun Times

By mzlapi |

My daughter enjoyed themselves for the most part. Lines were not long for rides. I did feel that some rides could have been longer. Also, quite a few rides were not in service. I felt that the ticket agents should have mentioned this when trying to upsell packages. Arcade employees seemed to be irritated when we used our free ski ball ticket. Why offer it if your employees will make customers feel bad?? Other than that, I've been to the steel pier many, many times. We will return again. Hopefully everything will be up and running.

Pretty nice

By Vi11ageGrl |

Fun place to visit. Felt like a long walk for us from the Tropicana...perhaps because we had 3 kids in tow and then decided to walk back. We got there a bit late so didn't see anything for the kids. Would definitely go back.

Some of the Rides are DAMM GOOD

By Anupam B |

Most of the rides are good for kids but 2 of them are for Adults one of them is like big Sling shot and other one big Giant wheel, must try for those who like adrenaline rush :)

Tax on ride tickets! Only in a Democrat run city!

By Haywood16 |

The pier has your typical amusement park games. Complete rip off! Some games were $10 to shoot 3 basketballs for a dollar store prize.

My kids were excited to go on the giant Ferris wheel. That was $15 a person plus a democrat fee of 10% tax. We passed. They also had your tickets for rides. Each ticket had a 10% tax. So a $1 ticket was $1.10. You need 5 tickets or more for each ride. Do the math!

No wonder Atlantic City keeps failing. They tax not only the local businesses but the tourists right out of the city. Vegas is so much better.

Steel Pier not the one from my youth

By davidwF69YZ |

If you are over 50, you might remember the Steel Pier of diving horses and show, well that pier is gone. It is now the typical amusement pier of rides carnival games but more. At the end of the pier there is a helicopter ride(real helicopter) that will fly over the city or down the shore line for $50+ per person. Also there is an excellent spot to view the

Lots of Fun

By Ella411 |

Its a fun kid friendly place. My kids loved most of the rides. The prices are ok too. However, some rides are old and need updating. Also, it would be great if they added some more rides for Tweens and Teens. For example, the bumber cars...my 12 year old was not allowed on because she is too tall.
Overall, we had a great time.

Helicopter tours are the best!

By Brandon R |

Friends and I have ridden many of the Steel Pier rides (Slingshot three times now), but nothing compares to the helicopter rides offered at the end of the pier. For about $53 a person after taxes, you get a really brief but utterly beautiful tour of ocean, beach, and a skim up and back from the entire boardwalk. We lucked into an almost sunset tour time with beautiful lighting and dolphins playing by the base of the pier. The staff are upbeat, friendly, informative and honest. The pilot is friendly and in perfect control. Worth every single cent. Loved it!

Needs TLC DESPERATELY

By snitzer |

This area looks as though it used to be a nice area however it now is pretty dirty day or night has a large homeless population. Tried a few of the different food vendors wasn’t able to eat any of the food and the drinks along the boardwalk were not good either.

Enjoying The Day Out At Steel Pier Amusement Park

By cenzt |

Average trip. We arrived at approximately 1:30 pm and enjoyed a meal outside of the amusement park. The food was a bit pricey and we spend around 15 dollars for nachos and cheese, a slice of pizza and two sprites. The entrance of the amusement park consisted of rows of games on both sides of the entrance. Some of the games featured were squirt guns, shoot hoops and work the crane. We bought our tickets inside and spent roughly 40 dollars for 50 tickets. The park itself was very small and there were not many rides to choose from.

We went on a Tuesday and the rides were only 2 tickets a piece. The lines for the rides were very short, and I never had to wait more than 2 minutes to get on a ride. We went on the carousel, flying dutchman, rock and roll, locomotion, and the crazy mouse. All of the rides were short, but fun. The crazy mouse was my favorite ride. Several of the rides were broken or out of service, which was very disappointing.

There were several places to eat inside of the amusement park. On several of the ride, you got to see breathtaking views of the ocean. At the end of the day, we had approximately 20 tickets left over that we did not use.

Tip: I recommend spending 3 hours here if you truly want to see everything.

Ferris wheel

By oarfin |

Absolutely loved riding on the Ferris wheel. Watching the sun set from up there was incredible. Thus is a definite cool thing to do when in Atlantic city

Closed 3 hours early

By 464jacquelined |

We went in off season, after labor day so they where only open on the weekends. I called aheard to check their hours and was told they would be open until 10PM weather permitting. We got there about 4:30 pm. My granson rode 3 rides and was getting on a 4th when the loud speaker announced they would be closing in 15 minutes - really! It was only about 6:15PM. I found a manager type person and asked him why they where closing was bad weather coming in. He said no, its not busy enought for us to pay our employees and make money. I told him I had called and was told they would be open till 10pm, his response "well they never should have said that" , "we close whenever we want there are no set times". I asked if I could get a refund for tall the ride tickets i bought (thinking we would be there a few hours). The answere was not - no refunds period. No sure I would go there again

Fun, Great staff, Friendly atmosphere

By Aphilly215 |

Our family had a wonderful time at the steel pier. The employee that ran the game post "the bow and arrow" game was incredibly kind and pleasant gave my child pointers and made it such a fun experience, and really left an impression on our family. Food was great, I had such a good time! Rides lines were short (we visted during the week early afternoon) We will definitely be back!

Amusement park by the sea.

By Allie514 |

Decent selection of rides; however, the rails of many were wet from the ocean spray the night we visited so they were closed for safety reasons. Still a nice amusement park with the usual games and extras. The helicopter rides are pricey but worth it if you've ever wanted to try it. Looking forward to the Ferris Wheel being open next summer!

Fun for a short time

By teachermom2000 |

This was beautiful with all the lights. The games were fun and they had lots of activities that looked enjoyable. The atmosphere was very carnival like.

AC

By Lolly’s Look |

The Steel Pier Amusement Park is an Atlantic City Tradition. The colorful Ferris wheel lights up the boardwalk.

Late night fun

By Martin C |

We had fun on our trip to AC and we rode the Ferris wheel at night and it was fun to see the city from up high, would do it again in the daytime to see out in the ocean. Lots of games and other rides. Nice thing to do and see

Fun for the kids

By UncMB7337 |

There were several kid rides that my son and his friend enjoyed going on. The whole front part of the pier is for smaller children. They went through them pretty quickly though and were not tall enough for any of the rides beyond that point. You really have to have a lot of tickets to enjoy the whole pier. Some rides are 5 or more tickets for one person to ride, necessitating a large book of tickets being your best bet. There is a lot of construction going on right now for the gondola sky wheel, which looks like it is going to be pretty cool. Unfortunately, that has affected a lot of the look and feel of the pier and also other rides were closed because of it. I think that you can have fun with the rides and carnival games and food but it's going to cost you. We do make a point of getting to the pier at least once every time that we visit AC so I would recommend trying it out.

Rundown and expensive

By lookingforwhattodo |

This may be the only option for rides in Atlantic City, but hey, it's not worth it! The rides are dilapidated and extremely expensive. Nothing worthwhile. I was not expecting Six Flags, but I would not waste $10/ride for a drop tower that is 15 feet high! One saving grace seems to be their helicopter ride which was only $50 for a quick shoreline tour. That did not seem too pricey for the experience.

Worth a visit! Lots of games!

By Megatronnn8 |

My boyfriend and I visited AC and stayed on the Boardwalk. We often walked around Steel Pier after dinner--it was quite the experience! There were many families visiting and there was a wide variety of games for everyone, and all ages. We did not participate in any games and it was still a great experience for us :)

Amazing aspects

By Curious45078776956 |

We had fun visiting these places day by day. The city has amazing aspects. Food in amazing places, beautiful views... I give my holiday a ten out of ten.

Pleasent surprise

By Ron K |

we walk down to Steel Pier on a Sat night, lots for people to watch on the way. Went by Hard Rock Café before it closes at the end of the month, got to Steel Pier and was pleasantly surprised, Not over the top, few rides for kids, few for older folks and a couple that will scare the crap out of you, (we did the ferris wheel, wonderful view at night) Seen lots of people win teddy bears ect.

Been coming to Steel Pier since the 1960's

By pertzel |

They still have the BB machine guns, lots of great kids rides, great place to take the family for the day!

Just ok

By KC Gypsy Explorer |

Took my seven year old granddaughter here. The tickets are pricey but I expected that. The rides were ok. Most of the ones she wanted to ride required an adult to ride as well. Seemed silly for most of the rides. Several rides were shut down so there wasn't much to choose from. The rides take 3 to 5 tickets with the bigger ones costing 7. Nothing we rode was really worth the price. She had fun

The location makes it for sure...

By Ridethewind95 |

Really it's like any other typical Carnival atmosphere, but being that it has a nostalgic charm of practically hanging over the ocean, it's definitely a must-visit for 1st timers especially. Nothing spectacular abut the rides or games themselves, and of course everything from ice cream to ride tickets are overpriced, but that's to be expected, I suppose in this area. Still worth a look even for just strolling around.

Love the addition of the Sky Wheel

By M0uche |

It really was not fully operational because it was off season, but from what we saw, it a great place for kids and adults.

Fun getaway

By Mark Barnes |

Kids loved the rides. This was a neat place to see for somebody who lives in the Midwest. We did the helicopter ride. A little pricy but it is worth it. They let our daughter ride in the front with the pilot

A Survivor Through the Decades

By fluffnfold |

Atlantic City’s Steel Pier is a 1,000-foot-long pier that houses an amusement park built out over the Atlantic Ocean. The pier is located on the boardwalk across from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino (formerly called Trump Taj Mahal). First opened in 1898, it was one of the most popular entertainment venues in the United States for the first seven decades of the twentieth century, with concerts, exhibits, attractions, and rides. It billed itself as the “Showplace of the Nation” and at its peak, it measured 2,298 feet long.

During its illustrious history, it has experienced some obstacles. In 1904, a storm washed away part of Steel Pier, after which many engineers stated that it could not be rebuilt, which proved untrue. Then in 1924, a fire caused significant damage, but it was renovated a year afterward by a man called the "Saltwater [version of PT] Barnum”; the pier hosted dance bands, several theaters (Music Hall Theater, Marine Ballroom), exhibits, operas, children's shows, a water circus, stunts (high diving horse; Rex the Wonder Dog, a water-skiing canine in the 1930s; the diving bell), musicians (Frank Sinatra, Al Jolson, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Bill Haley and the Comets), and other attractions. John Philip Sousa performed annually, and a large exhibit was hosted by US car manufacturers (first General Motors, then Ford). Miss America was crowned on Steel Pier for a few years. In 1962, another storm damaged parts of the pier, and another fire in 1969 decreased its size by about one-third. In the late 1960s, tourism began to decline, and the pier changed hands several times before a final fire in 1982 destroyed the wooden pier completely. It was rebuilt of concrete in the 1990s at its present shorter size.

Today, Steel Pier offers some carnival games, snacks/food, rides (including a Ferris wheel), helicopter sightseeing flights, and two bars (one mid-pier and the other at the far end over the ocean; the latter location sometimes offers live entertainment). It was fun to experience the nostalgia of Steel Pier.

Scary

By PittGrad |

Don't do it! Not only does the entire boardwalk have an eerie ghost town feel but the amusement park is now equally run down and deserted. Walked in to check it out and was greeted by several foreign vendors yelling at us to play a water game. Bathroom ammonia smell was overwhelming. Horses on carousel were rusty and jagged metal undersides were exposed. Saw that and decided to go no further.

A fun evening watching people

By Traveller & Foodie |

The Steel Pier has so many activities for all ages. You can even get a five-minute helicopter ride of the view for a fee. They have rides with some thrilling sensations. They have the typical things they usually have at an amusement park: a Ferris wheel, bumping cars, and the famous pirate boat. It was a pleasant evening for our family.

Amusing Pier

By Charles S |

We visited Atlantic City in early September so our visit to the famous Steel Pier amusements was a little late as some of the rides and attractions were closing for the season. However, many were still open including the big wheel which provided amazing views of the shoreline, boardwalk and city beyond. At night we dined at a restaurant nearby along the boardwalk and enjoyed the lights of the pier attractions lit up.

Nice

By Leonardo A |

Good for children, but not so much for grown ups. The most exciting feature costs U$ 23,00. Only opens at 1 pm.

Great for young people!

By shila G |

A good variety of children's rides and some for adults. It is right on the beach and offers a great view. There is not much in the way of food, but right outside there are options. It is across the street from the Hard Rock Casino, which offers a variety of food and drinks.

Basic carnival on a pier

By CFM |

Helicopter tour was cool to watch but the rest is basically a carnival on a pier great for teens I would imagine.

Eh Not for adults much anymore

By Worldatyourwhim |

It's great for kids but there is basically nothing for adults anymore. I mean cmon the only thing you have for the adults anymore are the casino's and clubs and beach.

Average - like a mini carnival

By LunaLove |

I am sure that kids would like it (it was only open on the weekend as it was out of season) but to me it just seemed a crowded mid-level county fair on a pier.

Fun and lively

By 515bethe |

Fun and tacky with neon and funnel cakes. oh yeah! Everything you want on an amusement pier. Rides that make me sick to look at - up and around lol.

Lots of fun at steel pier

By Tfjone |

Walk to the almost end and you'll find an amusement park that's based on the pier over the water. $1 equals one ticket and the tickets vary depending on the amount needed for each ride. All of the attendance for each of the rides were friendly. There is a slingshot ride there as well but it has a separate price from the tickets. They also do helicopter tours which is not included in the tickets as well. Ticket prices for the helicopter tour range from $49 to $75. No extravagant rides like great adventures. The rides are enjoyable for kids and adults. There are a few arcades games and classical amusement park games were you can win prizes. I like the view that you could see while on the Ferris wheel of just about everything on the boardwalk. I had a good time.

Just Wasn't HOT enough!!!

By trenafather |

well. we got to Atlantic city excited about getting my daughter on the SLINGSHOT ride and I wanted to get on my favorite ride the Crazy Mouse but all the rides we closed. for the 2 days we were there, not sure why, so no rides the prices for rides are expensive anyway so i wasn't that upset they did have the games area open so we played a couple of games

OVERPRICED

Too expensive kids rides should never cost that much at least do a wrist band thing so parents can afford it.

Family Fun With Many Different Experiences Available.

The Carousel is attractive with 2 levels of seating & is well used especially by young girls.
The whirly rides on seats that swing way out is for young thrill seekers.
The Rotator ride that was mainly occupied by groups of boys is the most scary & you'd better not eat before going on it!
It's from here that helicopter rides are taken.

By researchladynyc |

After visiting Atlantic City since 1983, I finally took my young adult children and toddler grandson for visits in May and September this year. The first time was Memorial Day weekend. The Steel Pier offered a pre-season ticket sale where I was able to buy one set of 80 tickets and receive one set free with free shipping. It was a great money-saving deal. There were also tickets for discounted and free food. My daughters rode on nearly every ride and had a blast. There were also rides for my 2 year old grandson to enjoy. We all had a great time.

Like the city itself, so much potential!

By psudino |

The Pier is a classic. The rides are classics. The games are classic. I'm giving 4 stars because the people running it are doing a really good job in a city that desperately needs to be reinvigorated. There is so much potential for this pier!

Abundance of activities.

By Kim1415 |

We enjoyed the Steel Pier and they have activities for young to old. We took a helicopter ride and my daughter and her boyfriend did the slingshot. It's convenient and plenty of options for the entire family.

Cute but incomplete

By Nikki R |

The giant ferries wheel was still for construction. All the rides are pretty outdated. The place has so many stuff toys hanging in the arcades. The rides are great and secure. I don't have a small kid but surely my older kids will go for this place. Place is next to Taj majal- which had closed down

By Cindiz34 |

Overall the pier was just ok. It was much larger than I expected. The Boardwalk reaked of weed everywhere. Atlantic City behind the pier was like a third world country. I did not feel safe at all. The food in the city was just ok but overpriced. Beware of the interstate tolls. They are ridiculous and they will come in the mail after you return from your vacation. Seriously, map the trip and see how outrageous the tolls are. I will never come back to New Jersey because of it.

I visited Atlantic City for my birthday with my band mates. We stayed at the Hard Rock and we had a great view of the Steel Pier . It snowed while we were there so everything looked magical . There was not a lot of things open because of the weather and the time of year. I still enjoyed seeing this charming historical pier .There is always something special about Jersey boardwalks and this place is surely full of character and breathes old time charm.

A group of us adults spent time on Steele Pier during a sunny June day and had a great time. We dared friends to ride the slingshot and they did. Its the best $25 I have ever spent watching them do what I wouldn't!! At the end of the pier is a nice bar area to look at the ocean and have a reasonably priced beverage. Definitely will go back.

Great place for an afternoon of fun.

By Jolie C |

We bought a groupon for discounted unlimited ride wrist bands good from 1-6pm. August visit was hot and muggy but an awesome constant breeze. Pier opened at 1 and we were there right at 1 and went through all the rides we wanted with no wait. There is a booth on the right when coming in that sells $1 hot dogs, good for cheap eats but not the finest hot dog you've ever eaten. At the end of the pier is a bar they have some reasonably priced beers and happy hour specials. They had $1 hot dogs and $4 burgers during happy hour. Great view of the ocean, wonderful breeze, nice place to sit and hang out. The rides are typical canirval rides which they kids enjoyed, some typical carnival games, funnel cakes, ice cream, etc. There is also a little bar at the end of the pier with decent priced drinks and happy hour. We come here every time we visit because the kids enjoy the rides.

Great amusement park with oldtime rides

Fun for the whole family

By cookiebox |

When some folks think of Atlantic City, NJ... they think only of it being an adult area, with casinos and gamling. But please don't let that be your only image of Atlantic City, because it truly is a family vacation spot. A fun beach, the Atlantic Ocean to play in, the great Steel Pier Amusement Park, fun restaurants for everyone, gift shops, a helicopter ride - you name it. Pack your stuff and hop on a bus trip for the day, or spend the night and come back the next day.

Fun place!

By Denise L |

They're still working on the observation wheel, but it's still fun! It was nice that they only needed 2 people to play the boardwalk games instead of the usual 3!

Enjoy the walk and amusement on the steel pier

By Desparado |

Take the time to walk on the steel pier and enjoy the amusement along to the end of the pier where you can see up close the helicopter returning and taking off again.

On Thursday night, we were pleasantly surprise by a singer who was located at the entrance of the steel pier. Her name was Beth Tinnon, she had a great voice while performing popular songs and this was a free performance! We just loved it!

Fun,but know the details

By MissBehavior81 |

I have traveled yearly to Atlantic City for 12 yrs. This was my first time coming to this attraction. Perfect area for small kids and teenagers. It looks really cool at night, and there are multiple games and rides. I rode the sky wheel which was really neat, and would provide amazing views if ridden during the day. Those are the good points. Know the fine print before shelling out your money. Tickets are for rides only. They do not accept tickets at the game booths. Most game booths are $5 a piece. Tickets come in packages or you can buy individually for around $1.25 a piece. Tickets never expire from what I was told. The sky wheel is an additional fee.

Nasty people. No social distancing. Way overcrowded. People not wearing masks

By endlesslyrocking |

That sums it up. They say masks are required and even sold at the entrance. Wearing them is not enforced. Way too many people crowded into a tired, scummy place. So ghetto

Cute Place

By Madison L |

Nice place, pretty clean, tons of food options. SEAGULLS EVERYWHERE! Keep your food close! Plenty of rides to enjoy, very family friendly. Lots of people walking dogs, my dog loved making new friends!

A summertime must!

By Brandon R |

The Steel Pier is one of those expensive activities that actually delivers more thrills than expected, has more variety in activities and age/skill/courage groupings. I bought a ticket book that was discounted through a coupon offer, but we still managed to buy refreshments, play games and ride rides that had separate pricing. For two adults, an afternoon at the Pier cost us about $100, or in gambler's terms, we were at a blackjack table breaking even until a bad shoe...

The games are nothing different than those found at any carnival or amusement park. The concessions are pretty much the same basic carnival/fair foods you'll see everywhere, including a dozen or more places on the Boardwalk.

The rides are well run, maintained for safety, and seem to offer enough time per ride so you get the thrills without feeling cheated of time. Of the ticketed rides, the mousetrap mini-coaster actually has plenty of thrills, spins and dips. The Ferris wheel is beautifully lit at night and has great Pier, water, Boardwalk and ocean/beach views. The classic fair rides are all to be found, including the high-rise swings that spin out over water

If your fear factor allows, one of the best rides to be found is the Slingshot. Strapping two riders in at a time, they are shot skyward about fifteen stories seemingly untethered (the open cage and the cables out of peripheral vision, truly lends support to a sense of flying, doing aerial somersaults, and then falling). This ride costs a separate single ride fee of about $20 or so, but it's worth it! This was an incredible sensation. At the far end of the pier, there are also helicopter rides offered that pick up from the pier and then do a dramatic cityscape sweep of all the major casinos, Boardwalk greats, and the Atlantic Ocean and AC beach.

Clean and well run park. Excellent, though pricey, adventure

Amazing !!!

Fun for the kids

By Harris G |

We stayed at the hard rock over the last weekend and the steel pier is right next to it. My kids 4 and 6 loved the games and rides and is looking forward for our next trip to atlantic city to go again on the big wheel.

Fun afternoon with kids

By bezat2016 |

Steel Pier was a great surprise. The kids (aged 2, 4,7,11) had a ball with plenty of rides but the real appeal was the staff. The people that managed the rides were kind and engaged. Eyra deserves a call out of his own. He “handled” my very frightened grandchild with understanding and humor .
It was a very fun activity for all.

Filthy waste of time

By kingofpoker |

Dirty & depressing. Not what it used to be, like much of AC. Helicopter ride cost twice the price shown online, with rude jerks at ticket counter. Imagine the worst carny you've ever seen, if run by drug addicts.

Fun for Adults Too

By LadyDiVineland |

The kids will love the amusement rides. Adults will like the large ferris wheel and have the option to purchase beer on the ride. Wish they still had some of the older attractions like the aquarium exhibits and diving bell.

fun right at the beach

By chi sevca |

we mostly people watched because we didn't want to spend too much money on the rides and games. not because they weren't reasonably priced - we just really get into our zone when we start.

since we didn't stay at a hotel here, we had to find parking on the street. we walked quite far to get to the amusement park. but once we got there, we had fun walking around before we headed off to lunch.

Kids had a great time

By JFandFamily |

A lot to do, you can easily spend a fortune there, with all the rides and games. Better off buying a bracelet that includes all the rides. You can even go for a helicopter ride (no idea about the cost though)

The Wheel

By MFG1291 |

The wheel offered a 15 minute ride in an air conditioned car that provided 360 degree views of Atlantic City, the Boardwalk and the beach, all for $9.00 each.

A Few Real Games And Rides

By Vmeister |

Of course this is geared to kids. We did the go-carts. They were cool. But most of the things they offer are the arcade and claw games. It has changed a lot.

Steel Pier Helicopters

By Harry & Tamaura Scheeler |

We did a city tour with Steel Pier Helicopters. The tour was so much fun. We went over the entire city, bay, and ocean. The tour was about 6-7 minutes. We have been on several helicopter tours all over. This is a very bumpy ride being over the ocean but they have a brand new modern R44 helicopter with a glass cockpit. You are in good hands!

Great deal 1-6 Tuesdays

By Ashntorsmom |

All rides were 2 tickets on Tuesday from 1-6 pm. They enjoyed the pier more than Moreys in Wildwood. The food was also cheaper than Moreys. The Ferris wheel is seperate and costs $11.

Family fun zone!!!

By Tu Blessed |

Tickets and amount needed for rides are very reasonable. Good variety of rides for the entire family! Bar on premises!!!

It's alright for the kids

By Enfamale |

If you need something to give the kids while visiting Atlantic City then take them to the pier. They will enjoy themselves and play games and rides. Most adults walk thru and find a ride or take the helicopter ride around the boardwalk but other than that it's for the younger folks. Prices are high like the rest of the boardwalk but you are in Atlantic City so expect that. I would rate it about a 3.5-4.0 stars.

Lots of fun
