Easy bike ride

By Stumatter |

Easy ride with plenty of places to stop and relax along the water with beautiful sights. Well maintained and clean.

Great, long walking/biking trail

By Dobeman |

We caught this just outside of town. This long trail goes from town, up into the hills, along the water. Lots of great scenery.

Short visit

By bani83 |

Good little bike ride . The park is not very big. Ended up biking out of the park and through downtown Stowe. And back to the golden eagle hotel. Nice little 35 min bike ride

Have come to Stowe for the past 5 summers. I always spend time on the rec path, it never gets old. Beautiful views. Perfect for a run, bike, stroll. It is very well traveled. One of the highlights to this quaint town.

Very relaxing place for a walk or bicycle ride

By timekeeper13 |

We first rode this trail from end to end on a Sunday morning and it was very busy. Lots of walkers. The path is shaded and follows the river. We walked the path during a weekday and it was much quieter.
Don't plan on getting any speed due to the many curves and crowded conditions.

Great for walking and bike riding!

By lbkeefe |

This is a beautiful path to walk or ride your bike. We easily accessed it from our hotel and strolled to a restaurant and then walked it after dinner to the end. Not sure how long it is, but I would guess 2 to 3 miles. Bring or rent a bike!

Fantastic

By Robert A |

Epic family bike path with amazing vistas. Lots of good parking. Restaurants half way. Do be careful of bike speed demons

Convenient Recreation Area

By Janet S |

This area is in a very convenient place and is excellent for cross-country skiing. We usually go there at least once a visit to ski. It is free too.

Lovely walk through nature

By elder87 |

I always love walking along this path when In Stowe. It’s paved, and fairly flat and goes along side the river through forested and agricultural areas. Lots of folks run or bike the path as well. Would recommend this as an activity on a nice day.

Friday afternoon ride

By pbrod9 |

My wife and I drove to Stowe to ride the rec path on a beautiful Sept Friday. The path is very well maintained and since it was Friday, it was not crowded. The path is fairly flat. We started downtown and road toward the mountain which is a very slight uphill, this makes the return trip a little easier. The round trip is 10 miles with 200 feet of elevation. Their are a few bars/restaurants along the path that have bike racks.

WOW, WOW and more WOW

By devonroamer |

This was the number one activity we wanted to do on our 3 week New England Tour, we hadn't cycled for many years and we wanted to do it all, we started at the top, cycled down to Stowe, enjoyed the town and cycled back. It is very easy, the gradient is not difficult and there are plenty of stops. The views of the town, river and surrounding countryside are very special and the trees in the Fall, quite stunning. A delightful day, except the arrogant users of electric bikes, the bikes can travel very fast and some use it as a race track and are very dangerous to walkers and genuine cyclists. The authorities need to stop them being rented out before someone is killed.

A nice amenity for the locals...and even a visitor

By Matt C |

There for a conference at Stowflake and this was a nice distraction to walk along. LOTS of bikers and walkers use it and most are pretty courteous of each other as some of the areas are a little narrow and congested. Lovely scenery.

Amazing and easy ride!

By ribar1en |

I haven't biked in 5 years or more but rented bikes from a local place. We easily did the 11 miles roundtrip. We did stop for a cider at Stowe Cider and stopped to do a quick dip in the river. But, it is a very easy ride, but can get very busy in the afternoon.

An OK place for a walk

By Richard H |

My opinion, just to many people. It is a nice walk, well taken care of{it is Stowe}. Lots of acivities going on around, some just seconds off the path.

Nice ride all day long

By Jerome P |

We rent bikes at Pinnacle Ski and sports and we hit the bike path for our ride.
Woaw ! This is a very nice path along the river and between corn fields.

This is a pleasant path with toilet at some places, picnic tables, banches, great spots to relax and enjoy the landspace and peaceful moments...

We also stop by Cady Hill trails which was really great if you have a mountain bike !

What a nice day... !

Perfect path

By AllisonLear89 |

The recreation path is not only beautiful, but it’s kept nice and clean. It’s not super packed with people, but the people you do see are very friendly and courteous. Plenty of trash cans and benches in case you need a rest. And gorgeous views.

Great path

By Louisa G |

Great paved path to get a walk in or ride your bike, connects to open space and different sections of town.

Great Resource for Locals and Tourists

By David H |

What a wonderful resource for both locals and tourists! Great for biking, walking, and jogging. Absolutely beautiful.

Great for running, walking and biking

By Anand K |

Lovely flat paved trail adjacent to a stream and largely shaded by trees. Quarter mile markings along 5.5 mile (one way) duration

Beautiful ride

By kitty H |

Rented bikes start of trail, ride 3miles, stopped had lunch, continued on to the end. Bridges a blast, not too much traffic, love that cars yield to bikers!! Lots of places to stop, appreciate scenery. 11miles pretty painless.

Perfect bike outing!

By puppyburrito |

While on a recent visit to Stowe, we rented bikes to enjoy the Rec Path. This was one of our favorite activities while in Stowe - the fall foliage was absolutely beautiful and the path was well maintained. Lots of bike rental options that have easy access to the trail. Wholeheartedly recommend if the weather permits!

A must do in Stowe

By AureliaRam |

A beautiful path that meanders through beautiful Vermont countryside. We walked this on a beautiful clear winter day - imagine snow covered fields, an icy brook, bright blue skies and Mt Mansfield in the distance - it was truly a beautiful experience

Nice biking route

By cliff2026 |

This is a great path to ride with kids. It is not very difficult so we were able to finish it with a 5 year old. The bridges are great as they go over streams.

Always a highlight of a visit to Stowe

By jarenatravelwithme |

We rented bikes at AJ’s sports and took off out back to the bike path. The views are incredible! There are 10 bridges on the path that cross the winding river. We stopped, along the way, at the Alchemist to sample some delicious beer. There are many restaurants to stop in for a lunch or early dinner. We also stopped at multiple spots for a dip in the river. There are picnic tables and porta potties throughout the path. Before returning the bikes we walked in Stowe. It is a great half day activity!

Daily walks are a fabulous way to start your day

By Michael M |

My wife and I love to get up and hit the trail---its a fabulous way to begin the day and its enjoyed by people and families of all ages---lots of walkers and bicyclists with joggers too. This is truly a great amenity in the Stowe area. Just beautiful.

Stowe Recreation Path makes me smile!

By Marty H |

Stowe is a smart town allowing visitors to enjoy the outdoors via a paved pathway meandering through the woods, along a river and allowing city dwellers a way to enjoy the outdoors. For those who are true hikers, there are lots of trails with all levels of difficulty. It was great to stay at a hotel on the recreation path.

Stowe path

By J Sallila |

Path is well maintained and very accessible. Although it is busy at times it functions well. Nice rest stops and parking along the way.

Great Bike Ride

By Shai L |

One of the best recriation bike path I ever rode.
Great for novice bikers as well as for children. Lots of green forest areas and small bridges over the river alongside the path.
Several bike rentals shops along the path. We rented very good bikes from MountainOPS.

Beautiful!

By Gerrie L |

My husband and I rented bikes and rode this recreation path. What a great choice! It is absolutely beautiful and fun to ride. Highly recommend it for everyone - great for families!

Enjoyable

By Jane S |

We enjoyed our walk along the river through Stowe. Though it was hot the trees and the breeze provided some respite. It’s a very popular path with cyclists and walkers.

best bike trail for any level biker

By Heejin Y |

Coming from a large city, my little boy (not so little, 9 yr old) didn't know how to bike until a few days ago. Upon learning how to ride, we were looking for a place to go for an easy and fun ride. Stowe Rec Path fit that bill perfectly. The surrounding is a park-like continuous atmosphere with wooded shady parts, short footbridges, and botanical experience. It can be busy with many riders, but it's still manageable.

Beautiful Walk

By pattid0726 |

We enjoyed every moment of this walk. The foliage was absolutely gorgeous. It was so nice to fit in a brisk walk while seeing the beauty of Stowe.

Beautiful Scenery

By wally37 |

The Stowe Bike Path is a great place to run, bike or walk. We parked in the center of town and walked for an hour before we turned around to return to our car. The path meanders past woods, interesting buildings and creeks. Not too crowded, but not too isolated either.

Family friendly bike path

By Cocotkh |

Clean & safe, beautiful bike path. Distance was perfect for me too! There are restaurants you can stop by and also covered bridge & river stream. Picturesque and enough shade in case gets very hot! Fall must be nice too!

Great views whether you walk, job, bike ride or cross-country ski

By Marvin G |

If you're in Stowe, Vermont, be sure to take a trip down Stowe's Recreation Path. This multi-mile path winds its way along the shores of a local brook and is a great place for low impact exercise such as 'walking the dog,' a light jog or just meandering along enjoying the wonderful views of distant church steeples, flora, fauna, and occasional animals such as chipmunks, squirrels, or rabbits. What a relaxing way to spend a spring afternoon.

Lovely ride with wonderful views

By heesacw |

We had a great time doing this on a bike, it has ten bridges and is a lovely bike ride. The views along the water are wonderful.

Ahead of its time. A masterpiece.

By Brent W |

When in Stowe, walk, run or bike the Rec Path. There is so much to see in so many places.

5.3 miles from Stowe Village to around Topnotch up the Mountain Road, but so well engineered that you can bike it all at whatever fitness level you are. You don't feel like you're slowly climbing a hill. And heck, the ride back down is a blast!

When it's quiet, it's great for a slow, picturesque walk that can be very romantic. If it's busy, say hi to people and enjoy the fact that so many people are out in the fresh air! Take a brisk swim in the river!

Be ready to be wowed by some of the views of Mt. Mansfield that seem to open up out of nowhere. Take photos! You'll be happy you went out. We live having this jewel right here for us in Stowe

Agree with all Five Star reviews!

By TravellingBs |

Just an amazing recreational path for walkers and bikers-but not for avid cyclists looking for a fast ride. Patience goes a long way when riding on this trail but there’s no need to rush, and with the turns and narrow sections and bridges, you have to slow down. Lots of people renting bikes that don’t know enough to pull off the narrow path if they stop or that you can’t ride side by side, but...that’s where the patience comes in. Lots to do, see and snack on from one end to the other.

Cold and snowy and beautiful!

By JLM0528 |

We enjoyed a long walk through snowy woods! Beautiful scenery, calm, and peaceful. The river runs along the walk and in the summer I am sure this is stunning.

Wish I Had a Path Like This Back Home!

By BillyBob66 |

Great walking and biking path--couldn't be any better. Weaves through the trees and river with parks and restaurants along the way. Highly recommended!

A highlight of our trip!

By Elizabeth S |

We rented bikes from a local shop that was near an entrance to the path. One of the best parts of our trip! So many beautiful views of the mountains. Be sure to follow the street signs and walk your bike’s where needed.

Great, easy bike ride!

By MRHP |

Rented bikes from a local bike shop and had a delightful ride up and down the waterway. The scenery was beautiful including the corn field as you look up to the ski slopes. Very easy ride and pretty busy.

Getting a little crowded

By McRenn8 |

We always ride the path our bikes at least twice a day, but are rarely in Stowe over a weekend. The path is crowded on Saturday and Sunday with a lot of people with little of no experience in trail etiquette. I came to a crawl for long stretches, so be patient.

Nice trail

By vicki039 |

This is a very nice bike trail that ends up in Stowe village so you can park your bike and do some shopping. You do have to cross the road once but people are very nice and stop to let you cross

Calm and relaxing

By Anantha |

Saw easy parking options at Thompson park and Chase park. Went for a leisurely stroll for couple of hours. The river running along with mountain background made a perfect setting.

A great asset to the community

By MikeFee |

IF you feel like taking a leisurly bike ride, hike or a dog walk, this is a great place to head out to. It starts behind the tall steppled church on main and roughly follows mountain road (108) up just past Topnotch Inn. Most of the time it is a tranquil peaceful place to spend some time in Stowe.

Relaxing, easy walk.

By dcfans6 |

Well maintained paved walkway, several parking areas for easy access. Good views on the northern end.

Bike ride

By Ranger1Travler |

Very nice path. Liked the verity of plants along the way. Construction was going on so we missed a small section but no issue. Hopefully they will continue to lengthen this or add other connecting trails.
Looks like a nice number to restaurants along the way. We did not stop since it looked like it could rain any time. The 10 miles was great.
Would recommend this trail.

Beautiful

By 4nonni |

A gem of a walking, biking, running trail. Busy from daybreak til dusk. Start from town and follows a river up the mountain.

Winter trail

By danamc01 |

Good place to snowshoe in winter. The path winds all around the area. You can access it at different points in town.

Excellent paved trail for running / biking!

By Rick-Cathy_M |

Well maintained paved path to walk, run, bike! We were in Stowe for two days and did the path three times! Twice on bike and once for a run in the morning. Beautiful views of the mountains along the path, a river/stream, and some woods. It's a little over 10 miles round trip when doing the whole thing.

Great way to spend a few hours!

By HollywoodHuskies |

Bring your own or rent bikes in town and ride along this great path through the woods and along the river. Mostly flat path with some subtle hills make it suitable for all riding levels. Make a stop at the corn maze or at any of the many restaurants/breweries that line the path through town. Great way to spend a morning or afternoon to enjoy the great weather and beautiful town!

Beautiful, saw bears

By Lisa K |

It’s a really fun and beautiful ride, about 5 miles each way. I’d recommend starting off riding towards the mountain, as it’s a bit uphill that way, and then you can zoom down on the way back.
One note- we did run into a couple of bears on the trail in the afternoon.

What a wonderful surprise!

By Gina A |

Stowe has created a wonderful place for biking, walking, jogging or roller blading. Through forested shady areas crossing the river over several bridges and through areas with corn crops. All peaceful and lovely. Nice job Stowe! We parked in town and biked the 5+ miles and then biked back. Wonderful way to spend a morning.

Very pretty scenery.

By Mary B |

Loved walking on the recreation path, the scenery was so pretty and relaxing. The fall colors were beautiful!! Also it was very safe.

Relaxing

By Flyer184930 |

Beautiful peaceful walking or bike trail through Stowe. Connect from many parts of town. Stay at Grey Fox Inn and walk across the grass for access to.

Love love love!

By jk11190912 |

This path made me fall in love with biking again. I biked the entire path with my daughter and it was amazing. The sights are quintessential Vermont: little bridges over streams, fields of cows, mountain views...all gorgeous. There are several places to park your bike so you can stop at restaurants along the path or the Stowe Farmer's Market (on Sundays in the summer). Or park and enjoy lovely downtown Stowe before heading back. Seriously, one of my favorite things I did in Stowe.

Stowe offers amazing year round activities

By CaptMakai |

The recreation path for runners and bicyclers is awesome with a variety of good restaurants and awesome views.

Beautiful path but caution on a couple of turns

By Mike R |

Like biking this path, even though a I find couple of turns onto or off bridges a bit tight. Several convenient places along the path (Mountain Road) to park and join the bike path if you don't start out right in the village center. Beautiful scenery, mid-week much less crowded (can be a bit tight with families on nice weekend afternoons)

Scenic bike ride

By thomasjY860OV |

We brought our bikes to Stowe for a wedding after we saw that a bike path was close to our hotel/wedding venue. The trail was easy to find and generally paved and flat, traveling along the Little River with 10 bridges to cross. We stopped for a rest at a riverfront gazebo and also at a tavern that backed up to the trail. The Tavern was crowded outside, so we sat inside for an app and a beer.

Awesome path!

By bnow |

It was great to see and take pictures of beautiful Stowe. Saw alot of dogs enjoying the parks along the way. Would be great for shoes, skis or bike.

IT was a just trail

By Swapnik S |

It is just a regualar trail for walk or biking. You dont need to waste 1 hour time to walk the trail to see a low steam river

Beautiful walking and bike riding trail but...

By VAD859 |

Beautiful walking and bike riding trail but...signage as to trailhead(s) a d parking are lacking. As many folks visiting Stowe are tourists, it would be great to have signage indicating the best Trailhead, vehicle parking lot, and directional signs on the main road dedicating folks as to where they "hop on" the trail.

How lovely and peaceful

By Noraatc |

Stowe Recreation Path is a great opportunity for walk and relax after a vigorous hiking day. The path is pretty long, 5.3 miles, but you can make a turn back at any point.

We enjoyed the green meadows and lovely brooks, dogs playing on the grass, birds chirping... and iconic views of rural Vermont and mighty Mount Mansfield at the distance of course.

The path is good both for walkers and cyclists; people are very polite and respectful to each other.

We enjoyed the walk in June and will return in the fall to see gorgeous colors of Vermont foliage.

Nice walking path

By alohacjm |

For those who like a paved walking path with nature around this is great. You can stroll or walk quickly or jog.

A great way to get into town.

By Kathryn978 |

On an extra-cold winter day when it was too cold to alpine ski, I X country skied into town on the Rec. Path. I was able to pick it up at my hotel. In town, there were plenty of places to hide my skis and I was able to have a nice lunch before I skied back.

Run with beautiful views

By Kella141414 |

We went for a beautiful 8 mile run here. We started and it was easy to find a place to park in the parking area. The run went through many parts of Stowe that allowed you to be in the middle of fields, next to streams, and then behind a few restaurants, and then the views of the mountain... Wow! It was gorgeous. As I was running toward the mountain, I just kept looking at the snow covered beauty and was amazed that I get to run in beautiful places. Once we were done, we walked up the stairs to the coffee house for a warm cup of tea then walked around town. It was perfect.

Beautiful for walking, exercising, cycling, dog walking. Bear Watching!

By Sharon Biron |

Definitely come here and unwind. You'll love the green fields and grass, the trees and rivers, the clean clear roads, and the little stores offering unique items.

Beautiful nature path

By Patricia T |

A great path behind the church located on Main St. where you can walk, jog or ride bikes (either rentals or your own) for miles, crossing bridges, viewing fresh mountain water creeks (wet your feet in the creeks) and eating fresh raspberries picked from the raspberry bush lined pathways and spend lots of mindful time in nature.

Early morning stroll

By Lucy |

A lovely morning or afternoon walk along the West Bench Little River is refreshing. There is a horse farm along the path with the most beautiful horses

We need more of these

By Faith_and_Me |

This is a great path. Plenty to see as you cross the stream multiple times. Goes past plenty of places to get food and drink, then finishes ata covered bridge. Wide enough for both pedestrians and cyclists. We need more of these everywhere!

Beautiful path

By Jake23 |

Beautiful path that runs for approximately 11 miles. Great to walk, jog, or bike and is dog friendly. You get a great view of the scenic Stowe as well as the iconic Stowe Community Church.

Great place to bike

By JMD1232014 |

This path is approximately 5 miles long. It winds through parks, farms, woods, and over bridges. It is great for biking, walking, running, etc. Beautiful scenery with rolling hills. We rented bikes from AJ's which is on one end of the path.

A Stowe Must

By Two trees and a Sprout |

Looking for a fun summer activity that keeps you right in the heart of Stowe? The a bike ride along the Stowe Path is the perfect way to see lush Vermont greenery, crystal clear babbling brooks and rocky running streams. Enjoy finding new spots as the path meanders through meadows and crosses The main road up to majestic Mt. Mansfield. We usually ride the path just beyond Pinnacle (where you can rent bikes) and pedal right into town. You can stop along the way to rest either in the peaceful stretches along the stream, ensconced in the palms of maples, birches and spruce trees or closer to town where art sculptures and smartly placed benches beckon amongst fragrant wildflower patches. One of our favorite activities and if you have your own bikes, free!

Charming place

By Carol M |

This is a beautiful pathway. Picturesque and a place to find peace or workout. Great for bike riding, running (good flat paved pathway). Grounds are very well kept. Wished my stay in Stowe were longer. Will return soon in fall.

Great Trail for walking or Biking

By 46er5811 |

The hotel we were staying at was on one end of the trail. They supplied bikes for the trail. It was September and the trail was not crowded. The leaves were falling from the trees. It is about 5 miles one way. There are multiple bridges. If biking slow down as people may be walking on the other side. It is relaxing and there are no hills so no need to worry about having lots of gears on your bike.

Nice walk

By Shaune P |

After a long drive, this well maintained walk was a perfect place to take in the views and fresh clean air.

Great for rollerblading! (with a caveat)

By Kimberly B |

A well maintained path with gorgeous views! It's hard to find a paved paths smooth enough for inline skating, but this fits the bill.
I am an adequate skater, at best, and this trail was easy to manage... with the caveat that you have to basically walk over the bridges. The boards are uneven and loose, so you can't roll over them. And there are always slight hills going down as you exit a bridge, but if you're uncomfortable with the steepness, you can walk along the grass to get down. There are about 10 bridges along this 5 mile path... so there's plenty of long stretches in between to get a good groove going.
I visited in October on a beautiful cool afternoon, and while the trail was populated, it wasn't so busy that I couldn't skate freely.
The asphalt is well kept, though there are always spots on paths like this that have cracks, rocks and debris. Nothing unmanageable, just keep your eyes peeled!
The length is perfect for 1-2 hours of skating, if you take the trail from start to end, and back. Would absolutely skate here again if I came back through Stowe!

5.5 miles nice bike trail

By CMSC |

Scenic ride, along West Branch Little river, starting from behind the church in Stowe, crossing many small bridges, close to restaurants. Suitable for younger kids as well. Good for walking, biking and running as well. If time allows, take a detour and walk on the Quiet path next to the bike trail.

Great path, better biking than walking

By cant83 |

Often along the river's edge, this path is a great way to do something easy and outdoors in Stowe. Cycling preferable to walking just because parts of the oath are "boring" (it's not all along the river).

Beautiful fall walk

By crazy_canuckOttawa |

For our visit, we could not have asked for a nicer day. Leaves full of colour, 18 degrees and wonderful sunshine. Very nice path for a leisurely stroll!

Fabulous walk

By Peter D |

Amazing scenery on a smooth even path, what’s not to like?
Clearly sign posted you can go as far as you like.
Good to burn off the pizza!

Fun with my Son

By NeHiker85 |

My 6 year old loved this trail and we could keep an eye on him the whole time. Everyone said hi along the way. we love this town.

Beautiful views

By Dee G |

Had a great time on the Stowe Recreation Path last month. The path is easy and well-maintained with a variety of things to see on the way - including a corn maze!

Do it...

By Itay G |

Rent some good bikes and do it. Did it with family, youngest is 10. No probkem at all as the entire path is pretty much flat and paved so it is really easy to ride. Beautiful scenery all the way through, and some really magical spots to stop and admire the area.

Easy Ride

By Bden99 |

This is fully paved trail that runs a little over 5 miles. The grades are easy and the scenery is great. There are a number of bridges and the trail tends to be very busy. If you are looking to avoid the crowds earlier in the day may be your best bet.

Lots of bikes and camp groups

By b w |

This is a beautifully paved trail going through Stowe to the north along 108. We were walkers though and had many bikes and groups of bikes so we had to move or stop. The quiet path is a better walking option

Good views.

By LondonNefertiti |

This is an easy path just over 5 miles long with good views of Stowe. Starts alongside the famous church and continues along the river and through fields and woods. Lots of locals walking dogs and going for a stroll as well as tourists like us taking photos.

Scenic and convenient!

By kristin t |

This path is really beautiful and oh so convenient! You can walk or bike it through town and up to a lot of restaurants! Pretty bridge over the river and nice places to stop and dip your toes in the water!

Nice level path (use restrooms at visitor center depending on time of visit)

By C L |

We visited on a weekday and it wasn’t overly crowded. The porta potty was practically filled and yeah, just no. I figured/hoped the visitor center (51 Main St, Stowe) should have restrooms, which they did. It was a quick .2 mile walk from the parking area. Obviously, this isn’t an option depending on when you visit, but definitely worth a minute walk for better facilities.

Great trail!

By ginnybrett2014 |

Easy enough, great family outing, rented bikes across from Topnotch, rode to Stowe for ice cream. Picked berries along the way.

Relaxing walk

By FinickyNewYorker |

Nice, relaxing walk. Dog friendly. Just be careful because you have to share the path with bicyclists. Benches to sit on along the way. Paved path.

great for walking / biking

By Adam |

have been on the trail in the fall and in the summer.
in the fall it was a very nice walk on a paved trail.
in the summer we were able to stop at a farmers market, as well as go for a swim.

Fun and great view

By Shani T |

Recommend for sports or for a lazy walk with the kids. The view is very nice. Corn maze, restaurant....I want to go again.....

Very enjoyable

By Jayne G |

We picked up our bikes from Butler House and took off along the route
It was beautiful and so enjoyable to see the deer and beaver as we cycled through.
It is a well used, safe and clean route with joggers, walkers and roller bladers making the most of the fresh air and sunshine
Highly recommended

Winter wonderland

By Jim & Bea |

Walked here a couple of times and it was beautiful. You can park behind the Stowe church and walk to the Mountain Market for coffee and a sweet. Then walk back. Or park there and keep walking out of town and stop and the next coffee shop. Not too icy but be aware.

A Relaxing Walk

By kenl431 |

Not to miss a walk along this path. It is an easy walk of several miles. We began in Stowe Village right behind the church where there is free parking. The path is mostly level and was a great way for our family to spend time together while getting some fresh air and a bit of exercise.

Adventure!

By Corrine S |

So a fun adventure! We took the entire path all the way to the end, and you arrive to many stores! Such a fun thing to do!

Beautiful Bike Ride through Stowe

By W M |

We rented bikes from AJ's and enjoyed an afternoon biking down the Rec Path, which brings you by brooks, corn fields (and a maze!), breweries, shops, horses... It was such a nice, relaxing way to enjoy Stowe. The path is paved and good for all biking levels. I went on a weekday, so it was not too busy; I imagine during peak season/weekends, this place could be crowded with bikers, walkers and joggers. Great activity for all skill levels and ages. It took us about 3-4 hours to leisurely bike most of the path (path is about 5.5miles each way), with stops along the way to take photos, eat ice cream, and sip cider.

A disappointment at the beginning of October

By grn11 |

We went to the rec path because of the great reviews around Oct. 9th. We started at the Community church side. What a disappointment! The path is surrounded by 5 ft. tall dead weeds, and is really ugly right now. We walked for a 1/2 hour, and it got better, but Stowe is such a beautiful area I would definitely pick somewhere else. If you go on the path maybe another area of it is prettier.

Awesome

By Jacquelyn V |

This is one of our favorite places to walk, ride bike or Rollerblade. It's also one of the best with scenic views along the trail.

A Jewel!

By Kathy E |

No matter what season it is, the Rec Path has something for everyone. Magnificent mountain views, streams, rivers, meandering paths through fields, across bridges, through woodlands. Walk, hike, snowshoe, cross country ski, bike, picnic, rest on benches along the way- something for everyone. Parking in town behind the community church and taking the path all the way out and back is 11 miles. A must see for all to enjoy when visiting.

Beautiful Path

By Rebecca H |

Beautiful trail for walking or biking. Just be warned that it gets very busy as the day goes on. But I’d love to return and bike the whole trail!

Awesome!

By Bri |

Very fun path. We rode mountain bikes. Several bridges to go over (which seem a bit narrow but can fit a walker and biker). All business have signs on path so you can stop, and all have bike racks.

Beautiful path

By winendiningduo |

This is a wonderful picturesque trail at the base of Mt Mansfield. It is easy riding or walking and well maintained. Along the path there are interesting places to stop, including an outdoor lawn sculptures museum.

Enjoyable place to ride

By RAlleman |

The trail is so beautiful this time of year (late September). I biked from AJs where I rented a bike, and had to keep stopping to take pictures.

Wonderful Path for All Ages to Enjoy

By qscdts465 |

The Stowe Recreation Path is a wonderful walk or ride or jog in the woods and farmland in and near Stowe. It is over five miles of paved path, suitable for walkers, joggers and bikers in the warmer months and snow shoeing in the winter. The local folks use it year round and visitors can be found in abundance during the tourist seasons (summer and fall). Bike traffic is heavy in the summer but most are respectful ("Passing on your left!") of the walkers. It is especially beautiful in the spring when increased water is flowing under the many bridges on the path.

Excellent condition mostly shaded

By IRWilmDe |

Walked 2.5 miles from Luce Hill road past Bouchard Farm to the large tent for catered events next to Tennis center & 2.5 miles back. This way towards the mountain and back (away from Stowe center) is very much less populated. Very well maintained paved path, a few portapotties along the way. Lots of benches and gorgeous stream vistas. Past erosion fixed with large boulders. See photo of recreation path.

Lots of Urban Amenities

By MaggieY |

Quite varied, lots of bridges across the river, nice woodsy sections. Good for the town, maintaining such a valuable corridor!

Great walk with the our dog

By michael_cruises |

We are early risers and this path is a great place to enjoy the scenery and fresh crisp air in the early morning.

Great way to enjoy getting around

By gkelly80 |

My husband and I recently visited Vermont for a weekend getaway. While in Stowe we spent some time walking around the little business area. To return to our car we took the recreation path which has many entrances and exits. It was a great path although when we took it there was still quite a bit of mud and snow on the trails and the last hill we had to climb was quite an adventure with how slippery it was! We made it though. I'd highly recommend checking out the path (on a nicer day) :)

Great sight seeing!

By Mauro |

Nice public park and great for fat bikes or snow raquete walking. We built our first snowman there! Great for kid’s who enjoy outdoor activities. Don’t recommend to go there with kids less than 8 y.o.

Better to get a map and to grab additional information before getting there.

It is also recommended a 4x4 car to get there, specially if snowing.

Great walk

By frugalarnie |

The Stowe Recreation Path is a wonderful place to walk or ride a bike. It runs along a beautiful winding stream. Places to walk, sit, relax. It made my early winter trip great. Don't miss it any time of the year.

Favorite rec path anywhere!

By jbg |

This path is over five miles of twists and turns and such varied scenery, with mountain views, babbling brook, bridges, farmland, restaurants and shops, and access to center of town, great for walking, biking, and roller blading

Must do.

By MamaOfThree |

Great for cross-country skiing in the winter if the conditions are right. In the Summer, the rec path is the ultimate must-do to get out and enjoy nature in Stowe.

Beautiful Path

By Tina B |

Always fun to come and stroll or bike along the River! 11 miles round trip but there are many places to get on or off the path. Idle Time Brewing Co also has seating along side and is a great place to stop for a drink.

Ride !

By dcadventurer2018 |

Had to stop at the farmer's market. Rode the entire path and it's all paved and very scenic. Over the river and thru the woods we went. Saw the mountains, red barns and horses grazing in the field! Yeehaw!

Great Path

By Spikeskony |

Loved the path and all the businesses off of it! There is lots to do along the path and once you get to Stowe there are businesses and restaurants to enjoy!

Great path!

By Indiana_Traveler |

This is a great recreation path! Lots of it is shaded, which is nice for sunny days. The only complaint would be that at times the path gets very narrow so you have to be very careful about cyclists or other users coming up behind you or coming toward you, especially on the bridges.

Taking a Toddler out for a Stroll

By Hui Chieh H |

I needed something to do with my son for an hour so we decided to explore the bike path near our hotel. It takes you near a river and has lots of nice views of it. We ended up next to Tres Amigos before heading back to the hotel. The path takes you all the way to Main St if you follow it to the end. I'd like to explore this path some more during another visit.

Awesome Stowe Bike Path

By dapalmers |

Definitely a great way to get around town, with wonderful access to the river! Great for walking, biking, trips to shops, and restaurants.

We waled into town on the path and were treated to an otter playing in the river and beautiful scenery.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

By puggy48 |

The Stowe Recreation path is probably beautiful all year, but i have only used it in winter. It is easily accessible from several locations. There is parking downtown behind the church and parking on Luce Hill Road if you can’t access from your lodging. We stayed by Sushi Yoshi, so i was able to walk to path. This is a great way to get out and enjoy Stowe if you are not a skier. You can rent cross country skis or snowshoes to enhance the experience- just know some of the path accessed from Luce Hill Road has stairs up and down over bridges. This is a beautiful walking/biking path. Now one con😕 the part of the path closest to downtown is utilized by many dog walkers. They do not keep their dogs on a leash and the dog owners do not pick up the dog poop. This is a real downer, as otherwise, the path is fabulous. If you want to avoid the doggie doo, park on Luce Hill Road and walk that end of the path. You can park at Chase Park free and enjoy a long walk or bike ride.

Wonderful path!

By elpealto |

We frequent this wonderful rec path. We always use it for biking, but quite often I see walkers, runners, families of all ages. The bike path is fairly flat so you do not need to be too skilled to ride it. That being said, if you have more advanced members in your group they can ride ahead and do all 10 miles while the less “in shape” members enjoy taking breaks along the way and enjoying the views. We tend to park in the middle and head north first then head back. There are lots of places to stop and enjoy the river view and peace and quiet. A favorite place to stop!

Beautiful winter walk

By PJV78 |

We were in Stowe for the weekend and wanted to snowshoe. We were staying in Stowe and the path was recommended for that. We could have snow shoed there but in fact it was more of a groomed walking path and easy to walk without putting on anything but boots. Beautiful views and definitely pet friendly.

Worth Doing

By Chris L |

A shortish walk that is well signposted, we then walked back along the road with the shops with is safe and has pathway

Beautiful running path

By Kathy G |

I had never run in snow before, but it was fun! The path is right in town and weaves through town, very wide and beautiful for running or walking.

Beautiful walk through the town

By Colleen D |

Nice easy walk around Stowe - goes along the river and has beautiful scenery. Great for families, kids, athletes... really anyone!

What A Find

By Totty |

We lucked up and found this trail and it was great! Well maintained; beautiful route. The only negative was a few cyclists who thought they owned the road or failed to advise they were passing.

fun for all ages

By js4evah |

we went every day. there are also swimming holes along the trail.

so much fun and great for all ages. food available along the way. can rent bikes on the path. I rec Pinnacle or AJs.

A wonderful surprise that the owner of Riverside Inn made possible!

By mackassoci |

A wonderful surprise that the owner of Riverside Inn made possible by providing the bikes for free! My wife and daughters had never seen or been near a corn field having come from CA.

Amazing Trail! Beautiful and Clean!

By Leslie P |

This trail is such a great benefit to those living in and visiting Stowe! It's heavily used by walkers, runners, families enjoying a bike ride and serious cyclists, as well. The scenery and mountain views are amazing, and so many establishments in Stowe are accessible right from the trail. Also worth noting is how well maintained the trail is. It's a nice smooth pavement, no litter anywhere and many benches along the way to sit and rest. Periodic restrooms would be nice, but overall this trail is fantastic as-is.

Stroll along the path

By colu28 |

A lovely footpath with cycle lanes. Meander through from the town with lovely views towards the church and mountain. Great for a picnic with friends. Lots of places to stop and sit and people watch

Beautiful path for walking, jogging, biking

By rob1764 |

This 5+ mile path meanders through many wooded areas north of the main street. It is just beautiful with lots of places to park, picnic or relax. Lots of benches allow for people to sit and rest.

One of the main reasons for visiting Stowe

By mtmonadnck |

The bike path is great for walking or biking. Just have to be cautious going over the narrow bridges. Small children will need a little extra attention. Start at the center of town as the ride back allows for a lot of coasting.

Bike path

By Lindamcd2016 |

Great bike path for the whole family. You can stop by the water stream for a quick dip in the cold water however only feet as the water is not deep enough for the whole body

Great bike path!

By Hoarj |

Fantastic bike trail!! Can get around the entire area and enjoy eating/drinking spots along the way.

Great trail! Absolutely beautiful but tight on bridges

By Mischka1628 |

Would consider parking a car on either end of the trail (start at the end nearest Stowe Mountain Resort, by the covered bridge parking) so you can bike downhill and not have to turn around and head uphill the whole way back. Or, if you don't have 2 cars, start at the Stowe VILLAGE end and bike uphill first and then have a nicer downhill ride on the way back to your car :) All the bridges and water crossings are beautiful but TIGHT so if you have others coming towards you, unless they are confident bikers, it's worth stopping to do one-way at a time. There are many low-experience bikers on the path that can make biking a little stressful since many take up a lot of the path or don't follow rules/etiquette of biking so no heads up when passing or turning on/off trail, etc. If you are there late summer/fall - there is a wonderful corn maze you can stop and do right off the path and lots of swimming/splashing opportunities in the river.

Best Bike Path

By Anne V |

The views are amazing and it's a fun ride. The only downfall, on any bike path, is the amount of discourteous people. For the most part though this was one of the best bike paths I have been on. Take it all the way to the end, or better yet start at the end like I did. There are plenty of restaurants if you want to stop along the way. Also plenty of river/field pictures - a picturesque ride. Just the right length too - 10 miles round trip.

Nice walking/biking path

By Colleen S |

A variety of interesting parts to it including small bridges, woods, water view.. Easy to access in various places around town.

Great, easy path for all

By Katie Wragge |

Beautiful path! Rent bikes, walk or run, it’s nice and flat with beautiful scenery. Hop on and off at many spots throughout town.

Winter Wanderweg

By RPM9 |

Great, snowy winter walk crossing the river about 9 times from Topnotch to the centre of Stowe, took just under 2hrs in heavy snow.

Thoroughly enjoyable trail

By Previa1994 |

When vacationing in Stowe, I rented a bike and spent a beautiful morning riding on the wonderful Stowe Recreation Path. The paved trail is relatively flat most of the 5.5 miles (one-way). The path is very well-maintained. At the beginning of the path in town, street artwork is beautifully painted on a short section of the pavement. The path is popular with walkers, runners, and cyclists. Beautiful sleek bridges cross the river. Several restaurants and shops can be found along the path including one brewery. Picnic and rest facilities, including a gazebo, along the path make for leisurely stroll. Stowe Recreation Path is thoroughly enjoyable through any trail activity. A gem in Stowe!

Wonderful walking path.

By Newman |

Bike, walk, run, its a terrific place to enjoy the Vermont scenery. Very well maintained, kudos to the Town Council.

Not great for walking, bikers are aggressive.

By Kelli L |

Thought we would take a leisurely walk on the Rec. Path; however, be careful not to have a collision with the dozens of bicycle riders. Walkers, stay to the right, single file or be prepared to get yelled at. Nice walk, there are parts for walking only, which I advise if you are walking, otherwise be careful of the multitude of bikers. Also, there isn't a lot of shade. Pros - it's flat and has potential.

Great Walk

By DJMEG |

The rec path is a nice gentle walk with beautiful scenery. Just watch out for cyclists. We found that only a few warned us when the were coming up on us

Nice paved path for runners, cyclists, etc

By devils4ever |

This is a really nice paved path that winds back and forth across the West Branch Little River with 10 bridges. It is such a picturesque path that starts in the center of town and winds up near the mountains. Beautiful. They are walkers, runners, bikers, roller skaters, etc on this path so be a little conscience of you surroundings. Keep alert especially during the busy summer months and enjoy!

Biking or Walking a pleasure

By armarmsra |

This path connects so many interesting places to stop and "smell the roses" or have a bite to eat or just cool one's feet. Sundays are special days in the summer when one can stop at the Stowe Farmer's Market which offers a great variety of local crafts, foods, and even entertainment.

Nice walk

By Shauna P |

Great place to take a brisk walk in Stowe. We saw a huge woodpecker with beautiful colors. We are from California, so this was a treat!

Easy riding path of about 6 miles

By Tlonz |

This path is super flat so doesn't matter if you park at the northern end or start down in town.

The path winds around next to a pretty brook and many beautiful fields and well as good shops and many food stops.

It's about 6 miles in length from top to bottom. Only cross the main road once. It does cross the West Branch Little River a few times via a small bridge that serves the path only. The bridge can be a bit tight and users should look out for oncoming path users before crossing.

Lovely

By Renee J |

We rode bikes this morning along the path. It was an easy ride/route. The scenery was beautiful. A perfect way to start our day.

Great walk

By Eric |

This is a beautiful walk along the river that is much flatter than one would expect going up the mountain road!

Great path in winter

By Louise N |

Free cross country skiing on the bicycle path you don't have to pay $28 to the Stowe resort. Or $25 to Trapp family. He goes for a long distance and you can get off and have a coffee or food

A good walk

By BlackandWhite1885 |

We are not what you would call out and out walking enthusiasts but we walked the full length and back from Stowe.

Most cyclists, and there were plenty of them, were good at warning of their passing but others didn't.

Path is well surfaced and mainly well signed. Distance markers could be better and we took the wrong route at Cape Cod Road. Be sure to cross the main road to avoid our mistake.

Only disappointment was the lack of facilities at the top end. Could do with a nice coffee shop for a rewarding beverage.

Idletyme is a great stopping off place for lunch on way back.

a very picturesque area to walk or bicycle

By Uncle Jack |

I enjoyed the beauty of this path, but I have to admit, that as a bicyclist, I found it a bit crowded with walkers and other cyclists, that did not understand the basic rules of being on a mixed use path. That said, it was wonderful to see so many families of all ages enjoy the benefits and exercise of being in such a beautiful area.

Great Bike path...

By amigobailey |

...and if you don't have bikes rent at AJs. Good bikes reasonably priced and right on path. Be careful going around the turns. Path is well marked to stay in lane but there is always a chance of a stopped stroller around bend just out of sight

Great place to take kids, or, even yourself

By gearcase12150 |

This is gem in Stowe with miles of access to walk, bike, skate, or cross country ski in the winter. There are plenty of places in the summer to stop and wade in the river and let the kids enjoy the water. There are several restaurants that the path goes by making it easy for a nice break for food and drink.

Great walk

By Bill S |

a beautiful path along the river and through the woods. great for walking, running, or biking any time of year

outstanding

By Matthew C |

This is one of the top reasons we come to Stowe multiple times a year. Outstanding views of the mountains and meadows and a great way to "travel" by foot or bike to shops and restaurants.

Awesome flat trail, perfect for families

By Ruth M |

This trail is a perfect way to see Stowe without overly exerting yourselves. It's ideal for families with young children those with mobility challenges. We rented bikes and stopped for lunch at Piecasso. So glad we did it.

lovely! scenic

By M5asl |

Loved the afternoon on the path with our family; rented bikes at AJ's nearby which was easy access to the path. Criss cross the river and enjoy the view of farms.

Super. Really nice ride

By TheOpsDoctor |

Plenty of pretty views. Best part of the trail is from mile 3 onward (when departing from AJ's). One thing though is that the trail jumps the road at an unexpected spot. If you get to the spa, turn around and go back about 100 feet to cross the road at the crosswalk to continue on with the trail. The ride back to town felt easier than the ride out. It felt a little down hill on the return. Highly recommend this trail. Also highly recommend AJ's for renting the bikes.

Great path through town

By Katie B |

We were staying at the Green Mountain Inn and wanted to venture out to Idletyme Brew Pub for lunch, it was about a 2.5 mile walk on this path. Perfect way to earn your lunch!

Nice

By Caratach |

I was happy it was so accessible close to wear we stayed. My wife ran and walked on it every day. There were a lot of hearty locals out all the time, but they were great about wearing masks; much better mask usage by runners in Stowe than on the Burlington rec path! The occasional outhouse was much appreciated. If they could put one more on the north ending of the path, that would be even better. Thanks.

Not your typical "rec path"

By Rob H |

Rail-trails and rec paths sometimes are flat, straight, and monotonous - nice for a predictable workout, but not offering much else. The Stowe path offers shade and sun, views of fields (and the opportunity to venture onto the bike-less "Quiet Paths" that surround it), and the steady presences of Little Brook. Markings are regular, in 1/4 mile increments, and there are a number of access points. I went out early, before sunrise, so there were few others, and only one bike (I was running). At busier times you might encounter groups that hog the path or cell-phone users, but I met with none of those on this trip to the area.

Scenic walks

By jdean12345 |

Such a wonderfully maintained area! We had great walks along several of the paths. Lovely scenic views and lots of benches to stop and soak in the scenery.

beautiful trail, very suited for families!

By Dror S |

very smooth easy trail, the family rode through with ease, and there are places to stop and relax, perfect day out!

Very easy ride!

By Linda L |

Beautiful ride next to the river and close to town. We rented from AJ's as recommended from our hotel.

Great walking trail in Stowe

By kim |

Lovely quiet walking path in Stowe giving you easy access to coffee shops and a view of the lovely fall foliage.

Beautiful peaceful area

By Jaime H |

This is the second time we’ve cross country skied on this path and every time we traverse it we love it. We spent about 4 hours on the path and loved every second of it. We’ve only seen it in winter but I can only imagine how beautiful it is during warmer weather months.

I wish I we had a path even close to this at home!

great bike or walking path

By al22218 |

We walked this path with our dog and it passes right by Idyletime Brewery, as well as goes into the center of Stowe. It is very well maintained and very accessible. It is nice to be able to stop and have a beer or a bite to eat and continue on your way.

Best part of our trip!

By Melissa W |

We rented bikes and did the full 10 mile bike ride. It was seriously the best part of our trip. It takes you throughout the town of Stowe and you get to ride by the meadows, Main Street, and across bridges. It was so much fun! Definitely recommend in the fall!

Peaceful

By KobeH38 |

This is nicely maintained paved path. Good for bicycling and walking. We tried from Stowe Downtown side. BUT it was mistake. So we tried from the other end next day. Scenery was much better. We enjoyed 1.5 hour walking there.

Beautiful bike ride

By HelenA365834 |

We rented bicycles and rode about 4 miles down the path. It is scenic, and there are lots of places to stop along the way. It was a good way to get outside and enjoy some fresh air and exercise. We did get stuck in the rain, but it was well worth it. We would do it again, rain and all.

Stowe is in the Know

By KKwanderwoman |

The Stowe community is charming to be sure, but it’s also just lovely in every other way too. The Stowe Recreation Path, which wraps around the community in a nearly 5+mile loop, is fantastic and nicely maintained. It’s safe and easy to use, suited for walkers, cyclists, locals and visitors. I immediately felt more peaceful from the first step onto the path.

Great community resource

By Andy C |

While we were in Stowe the place we rented was on the path. What a great thing to have in your town. My wife used the trails several times while I was skiing to snowshoe.

Great bike ride

By CharlieC5 |

Great bike ride! Good for walking too! Only thing to watch is the narrow bridges with bikeriders. Great way to see Stowe.

Scenic and mostly flat bike ride over bridges and around corn fields.

By ThriftyTravelingDad |

Perfect for a family bike ride, run, or stroll on a nice summer day. Paved pathway that is mostly flat as it winds it's way through town. A real treasure that we look forward to visiting whenever we're in Stowe.

Week Vacation with friends

By Night_Owl1026 |

Stowe's bike path is as an all year round recreational trail. You can bike, hike, stroll, and ski on it, 365 days a year. The 5.3-mile paved trail starts in Stowe Village, winds its way through the woods and meadows, and crosses the West Branch River. Numerous shops, lodges, and restaurants are accessible from the path. Easy walk and bike. Be on the lookout for bikers, they come up on you fast and may not follow the rules.

Biking on the path

By Gabriela M |

Great scenery, the path is easy on beginners, except for a few slopes. It's a good way to know a bit more about the area without the use of a car.

Just Go!

By Beth M |

This is as good as they say. We parked behind the church on Main Street, and started walking. We turned off the path at AJ's Sports to rent bikes for the rest of the distance. The path is really a beautiful space. It is not a difficult bike ride, for us the 5 miles passed very quickly. You can easily make a longer outing by stopping by the river in many places, and just pausing to take in the views.

Bring your bikes - best path around for biking, walking, roller blading, etc!

By Caesar Rowinski |

Its really a gorgeous path to simply stroll or ride on. Goes along the stream in some areas. Really beautiful. A must visit even if its just a short period of time.

Wonderful 5.3 mile paved path from downtown Stowe, Vermont

By Cathy P |

Great for walking, Cycling, Roller Blading. We stopped along the way at the Corn Maze...FUN! Runs 5.3 miles from downtown Stowe to North of town. Lots of great stops along the way!

Awesome Trail

We enjoyed a great walk here one afternoon. It’s a five mile path with lots of bikes and walkers. The scenery is just beautiful with benches to sit and enjoy. You can get on the path at several parking areas and walk whatever amount you wish. The path also offers picnic benches. So pack up the bike, picnic basket, water and more and enjoy this awesome area.

Beautiful paved trail from downtown Stowe to near the ski resort. Several bike rental vendors near the path.

Really nice "sidewalk"

By wiffee |

Kudos to Stowe marketing for the great name! This is a very nice, well-msintained ashalt path that gives a great place for walkers and bicyclists to safely enjoy the greater Stowe area without being on the main road. Pretty locations, creek-side, park, etc. Not sure what other "recreations" are included though ;-)

Great Recreational path

By Elizabeth S |

The path offers approximately 9km of safe track for walking, running or cycling. It starts in the centre of Stowe and follows the river. You cross over 10 bridges. There is parking available at various points along the path so you can do sections of the path or the whole path. Very picturesque and very enjoyable.
Perfect for families as well.

Easy walk

By Navigate04170290423 |

Beautifully maintained - excellent asset to the community - you can walk as little as you want or do the whole path- very popular -

Excellent path for biking and walking and pet friendly.

By gmgoldeneagle@gmail.com |

Sometimes you find unique things on the path, scavenger hunt items. Restaurants and bars easily accessible from the path.

Beautiful paved path through Stowe

By CanadianAl |

5 miles(8km) long along a winding well paved and conditioned path through Stowe. You can't ask for better views, places to stop, lovely bridges that cross the Saco River and you never stray far from civilization so no need to prepare. Walk, run or bike from the main village up a mostly flat trail that will leave you wanting for nothing.

We bike this path with the kids every single day we are there. The car stays parked for our entire stay because this path gets you close to whatever you need and it's safe off the main road.

Beautiful paved trail through woods, streams, and fields

By Cindy B |

This is the best trail ever - for biking, walking, running, walking the dog, etc. Beautiful setting, winds through fields, woods, with mountains around you. Trail is mostly level. Several wooden trail bridges that cross over the stream. Very long trail, but you can choose the distance you want. Quite a few users, but that didn't present a problem at all. When you are done with your exercise, you are in downtown Stowe, near coffee shops, restaurants, stores, and a lovely downtown for strolling through.

Absolutely Beautiful

By Brenda |

We absolutely LOVED the Stowe Rec Path. We rented bikes from AJ's Bike Shop for 4 hours and did the entire trail (approx. 5.5 miles). The view was just stunning...we enjoyed every minute of it. We also took our backpacks and packed up sandwiches, snacks, and a water bottle. We stopped at one of the picnic areas to enjoy our meal, go to the bathroom, and chat for a while. I also packed my Go Pro so I could videotape a portion of our ride. We stopped and took a dip in the creek and stopped to do the corn maze and pet the goats/calves. And, we just stopped at various point of the trail to enjoy the view and nature.

A Fun Morning Activity!

By Jess.C |

We got up early and rented a bike for a half day to take on the Rec Path. It was so much fun. Some parts were crowded and other parts were so quiet with not many people. It was awesome because some restaurants were along the part so we were able to take a break and have a quick snack at Idletyme before jumping back on the path.

Loved it

By CousinsIslandgirl |

This is the way a Recreation Path should be! It was paved all the way, and so meticulously maintained. Loved being able to tour the beauty around Stowe on this Path!

Beautiful views of Mt Mansfield

By CapeCodgirl71 |

We always visit the Stowe Recreation Path during the week, when it's slightly less busy than on weekends.

Wonderful

By Chad Bauer |

Easy hike/walk. For everyone. Nice views and the large stream is beautiful! From the iconic church to out of the city . 5 miles in total.

Lots of fun

By Donna |

Rented bikes and rode entire path. So many places to stop and take a break. Had a drink on an outdoor patio, cooled off in the river, and played mini-golf. Great way to spend a day.

Fantastic.

By rdrozd7 |

Lovely path for jogging or simple walking. Winding along the stream and meadows. Very safe with so many active participants enjoying beauty of the nature. Leads to the town.

Smooth, functional, 5mi path to town

By rdski17 |

Wonderful ride through the woods that’s also a great way to get from resort/hotels to town. Very smooth, paved path that is plenty wide for small kid safety. Views are great and the many stop offs along the way give easy access to the river for a break from the riding or walking.

Beautiful. Picturesque.

By Paul R |

This is a beautifully maintained walking/biking trail. We walked for a little over an hour. Just beautiful and VERY easy. Well worth the time. We had lunch in town.

An amazing 5 mile loop ~ with kids, dogs, bikes, roller blades ~ you name it!

By Tammy D |

This is one of our favorite places in Stowe! We love that we can take our dogs on this (paved!) path and take in beautiful views, mountains, fields, horses, the streams, you name it! The wooden slatted bridges are fun to go over and make for good picture taking of the stream below. There are spots that are shady, and spots that are sunny. There are little walkways hidden amongst the the brush and trees on various spots of the path the lead to the streams. Our dogs love wading, splashing and swimming (depending on the water depth)! Be advised, though, that depending on the time of year and/or day, it can be very busy...lots of bikes. There are picnic tables and benches scattered along the path as well. Various locations along Route 100 that you can reach the Path from; signs clearly mark this. You can drive your vehicle and park (no charge!) in these locations. If you can't walk the 5 mile loop, but want to see the entire thing, just keep popping to each parking area and start your next walk. We highly recommend you check out the Stowe Recreation Path!

Smells bad

By Sabrina J |

Pretty area and path looks maintained well, although a bit small for biking for the multiple ppl using it. It also just smells awful here ( like manure).

Beautiful path through Stowe, can take it to restaurants.

By Susan M |

We rode our tandem on the Stowe Recreation Path to have lunch. It was a nice ride, beautiful scenery and brought us right to a number of great restaurants.

It was also fun to watch people on the path as we sat outside to eat.

Great resource for the community!

By Brittany L |

We stopped at this path several times to walk along and take photos. It runs mostly along a little creek and you can walk, bike, or rollerblade on it. It pretty much connects the entire town of Stowe and keeps folks off the roads so they'll be safer. Most portions are well-shaded, there are plenty of places to sit and rest, and even some places to hop in the water. I'm kind of jealous...we don't have something like this where I live.

Winter time walk along the river

By Nancy V |

We try and get a couple of walks in on the recreation path each time we visit. This past weekend was extremely cold 13 degrees in the daytime so we only walked once but it was beautiful. The parking lots were cleared so parking was easy and once you got over the piles from the parking lot the path itself was compacted and fairly easy to walk on.

So gorgeous and well maintained

By Erlene |

We love walking on this path which meanders through forests with amazing views of pastures and the town of Stowe.

Too Busy

By Pamela C |

Extremely busy. While path snakes along the brook, it is narrow with bridges only wide enough for 1 way at a time crossing. There were lots of benches along the way.

Scenic Ride

By Bden99 |

The Stowe Recreation Path runs for about 5.5 miles, basically following rt 108. The path is completely paved and has easy grades. It runs past several restaurants that have bike racks in case you want to stop by for a bite to eat or a cold brew. The trail passes through farmland and crosses a stream several times on wooden bridges. The trail can be rather busy, but is still a fun ride.

Lovely, easy walk meandering over bridges and through fields.

By MommyofTwoGirls |

Extremely easy walk with benches strategically placed along the way. We ambled into the river and dipped our feet in, and also just spent time relaxing in nature.

Great way to stretch the legs after a long drive

By Patricia C |

The recreation path was across the street from our lodge and the perfect way to walk off miles of sitting in a car. It is paved, well-maintained, and quiet

Great place for a stroll

By 655donl |

Nice paved trail that meanders along Mountain Road. Watch for traffic at road crossings, but there is nice scenery in a number of spots.

Well maintained path that is stroller friendly

By Ashley A |

The recreation path is a 5 mile long plus trail that winds through Stowe. It was one of the few options for a stroller friendly walk. There are many stopping and entrance and exit points. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys a nice, scenic walk.

Scenic Walk

By LoriP02828 |

We chose a morning walk on an overcast and cool day which turned out to be ideal for the trail. It is completely paved and allows for walkers and bikers. Plenty of room for both. It starts in town and ends at the Top Notch Inn 5 1/2 miles away. (We only walked halfway.). There are several wooden bridges crossing over the Little River and lots of scenic vistas for picture taking. (There is also a “quiet trail” unpaved trail for those who prefer to get into the more wooded areas.).

Good spot for summer and winter recreation

By Jim W |

Paved path for walking, biking or roller blading in the summer, with opportunities to picnic or go wading in the streams. Also good for snowshoeing or XC skiing in the winter months. park at either end of the path or or one of lots at midpoint.

A short "quiet path" alternative gets you off the main route, which can get crowded on weekends and holidays, rejoining the main path a short ways later.

Nice views of Mt Mansfield and local farms along the way, with access to a private corn maze near mid-path.

A stroll in the country

By brmcdermott |

This path beginning in town and continues for approximately five and a half miles. This path, which is basically through flat terrain skirts route 108 and at times is adjacent to creek. If you like to walk, bicycle ride or skate, you'll like this path through farm land and country landscape. Parking areas are available at a few points along this rout.

Easy Walking and Biking plus Nordic Sking in Winter

By Robert F |

The "Rec" path is a great entry level walking and biking trail easily accessible to visitors to Stowe.A number of parking lots along the six miles of trail allow access to all sections of the path.

When the shuttle bus is operating you can walk or ski from the village up towards the mountain and take the bus back.

Plenty of benches to rest and admire the view. Most parking areas have picnic tables.

It can get busy so ride slowly and check for traffic coming up behind you.

Nice place for a stroll

By Lara D |

Stowe tends to be a very busy, popular place, and I usually choose places to walk that are a bit less popular. However, I must admit to an affinity for the Stowe bike path! The views of Mount Mansfield are special, of course, but what I really like about walking it is its pleasing meandering through meadows, over brooks, past woodlands. Unlike most of the bike paths one encounters, this one isn't a repurposed railroad bed. It has been built to be pleasing to one traveling under one's own speed, not to be efficient for the use of a speeding train. No long, overly straight stretches to contend with. Loopy, curving, interesting, and pleasing to the mind and eye. The only downside is all the other people who enjoy it, too! I try to go in the off-season. I don't like having to share with the mobs on a warm August Saturday.

Beautiful!

By Resort319784 |

This convenient path is absolutely gorgeous in the fall. Picture perfect, in fact! We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Stowe.

Scenic ride

By Joe and Terri T |

This is the best bike path in New England. It is well taken care of and is fun for all. There are plenty of spaces to sit and relax if you want a break.

Explore Stowe!

By Sarah S |

Either walk the path or ride your bike, this is a great way to get outside and enjoy the town of Stowe. We enjoyed the corn maze, the walk along the river and met lots of nice people on a beautiful fall day. A great way to explore and see the sights. Areas to step off the path to go to the shops in Stowe, too!

A beautiful way to take beauty of Stowe

By JLa611 |

The recreation path in Stowe Vermont is at once breathtaking, charming and scenic any time of year. It is a multi-use path. Great for walking, running or biking. It meanders over a beautiful river, with 11 charming bridges that criss cross at various intervals. Plan to stop alone g the way at a variety of quaint shops and restaurants. A must-do while in Stowe.

A Stowe Highlight

By shalmunzies |

Great for biking, running, walking - for a treat try some of the quiet paths - I put in a 40 min. run and had the trails all to myself.

Magnificent Winter Wonderland

By Susan S |

Please see photo attached! I have been ‘hiking’ this path for years and it always brings new delights. After a 14” snowfall the night before-it was magical!

Biking

By NHgardengirl |

The path is a great way to get around the traffic on the street. You can walk, jog or ride bike on the path . The best part is the path leads you to all the different establishments that are on the main road.

Nice long path with multiple access points

By LakeGirl |

We were visiting Stowe on a day with light rain showers and wanted a walk with our dog. This path was perfect, following a stream, with trees and cornfields. Where we parked there was a porta potty and .75 later there was another parking lot with porta potties. Everything was clean and well maintained. Locals recommended this path, and we would too!

Very well maintained

By kvwilliams |

We have walked this path for many years while vacationing in Stowe. It is well maintained with no motorized vehicles allowed along the 5+ miles that is follows a river. There is a lot of wildlife along the path as well as pleasant views as you cross the river in several locations.

10/10 so gorgeous

By Kelsey O |

So much fun, beautiful, definitely stop off in town and at Stowe Cider! I highly recommend checking it out and bringing bikes or renting them in town, you can also walk it and farmers market is sundays just off the path.

We love this trail!

By irishgal48 |

A great walking and bike riding trail for all ages! scenic, fun and well maintained. goes through meadows, woods, over bridges, etc.

Nice path

By DbacksFn |

We enjoyed walking around the path one afternoon. We saw a mother deer and her baby in an open field. It was hot and muggy in areas where air doesn't circulate. But overall a nice addition to the area.

Beautiful.

By Joseph S |

Well maintained beautiful trail. Enter behind the big white church. Lots of little stops along the way. Puppy friendly.

beautiful running path

By Greg M |

This is about the prettiest 8.3 km run you can do. Beautiful scenery, lot's of bridges, and spectacular views.

A nice riverside pah

By MarkfromtheIsland |

How do you review a nice riverside path?

It's a path.
It's on the riverside
It's nice. Paved even.

Go walk on it.

Stowe Recreation path

By Manny K |

Average bike path, views are average. Bike paths are smaller. If you are looking to ride the bike with amazing views and better experience definitely Burlington bike path is much better where you will be riding close to the lake with amazing Mountain Views.

Easy path throughout Stowe

By Tess_NJ |

We only walked on the path, though I imagine it would be more fun to bike or roller blade. It was somewhat crowded on the weekend, which makes sense since it snakes through much of Stowe. Overall, nice way to get through Stowe with many stores and restaurants along the route.

Always lovely - not too busy

By michael_clarkeNYC |

Love it here. We often swim in the water if it is too hot. Bring a mask. We walk and bike. My son sometimes scooters. In the early morning or dusk is my favorite time. Lots of shade so even if it hot the temperature is not too bad

Bike rental and run along the recreation path

By Lisa J |

We couldn’t get enough of the recreation trail. One morning we went for a run on the trail and it couldn’t have been more peaceful or beautiful. There were lots of friendly faces on the trail and beautiful sights to see. Later in the day we rented bikes. So many great spots to stop and sight see, shop and eat and drink along the path. Many of the businesses along the path have bike racks to encourage riders to stop. We had a bite and a brew at Idletyme Brewery and it was a lovely respite. Great bartender and great ambience.

Great bike ride

By Peter1533 |

Beautiful path along a river that goes down the mountain to the village of Stowe. It is a gentile down hill and an easy bike back up the trail. Several parks along the way.

What a wonderful asset to the area!

By MrsT201022 |

We were so pleased to find this path right near our hotel! -- the Innsbruck Inn. We took a lovely evening walk along part of the path. It goes right beside the river and is a level, relaxing place to walk.

The next morning, my husband used one of the complementary bicycles from the Inn and biked nearly the entire path and back. He saw many lovely views along the way.

This path is such a great asset to the area. Being able to use it made our stay in Stowe even nicer.

Beautiful bike path

By Judy C |

It's a great bike path, very scenic, from Stowe Village north along Route 108. We didn't stop at any, but there are some cute little restaurants/bars along the way. Great views of Mt Mansfield and Vermont scenery. It would be good if the bridges were a little wider.

Biking running walking

By BdosCaptain |

Nice path by the streams and woods of Vermont from town out about 5 miles an easy stroll uphill & stores along the way.

lovely place to run

By nidkirm |

Went for a jog there this morning, and really enjoyed it. Very green and picturesque. Would be even better on a bike!

This is a very pet friendly, easy and enjoyable place to stroll along!

By Aud E |

The parking areas for this trail are very nice with picnic tables and well shaded. The path itself is nice, wide, level and paved and you are treated to wonderful riverbed views from bridges and spectacular views of the mountain countryside behind the fields of corn stalks. Depending on where you take the trail, part of it meanders right behind the main drag in Stowe and you can stopover at the incredibly pet friendly IdleTyme Brewery for a beverage and nice meal on their outdoor patio, you could also hit the Farmer's Market and if you walk further, you'll run into an awesome outdoor sculpture park. While the majority of the bikers were courteous (we were 4 adults walking with 3 dogs) and warned you when they were coming up behind you, there were some (and kids were the worst offenders) that didn't and were a hazard on this very busy trail (it was Labor Day weekend). I imagine that trail would be incredible in the winter with less traffic cross country skiiing or snowshoeing. Well worth the visit!

Amazing Recreational path

By Mark A |

Had an amazing ride on the Stowe Recreation Path in September. The path is easy and well-maintained, lots of nice restaurants and bars to stop for lunch. We stopped at Pie-Casso Pizzeria and it was delicious.

Leisurely stroll, jog, run, or biking paved trail

By born2bthe1 |

This is a scenic route in Stowe. It may take longer than walking on the side of the road but its safer since there are no cars that run there. The only people you have to watch is the bikers. We met a nice lady when we stopped for a rest at the benches.

A gentle walk with birds, butterflies and vegetation

By dawntreader22 |

The walk is quite relaxing and gentle. It was interesting to read about how the Stowe Recreation Path came to be. It's the kind of walk I would do with a coffee to enjoy twenty minutes of quiet contemplation, surrounded by birds and the occasional butterfly.

Lovely walk

By Brenda |

This is a lovely walk to the village along a managed path . Watch out for the cyclists who are enjoying it as well

Awesome

By 837julieq |

Went with the entire family, ages 7 - adult. Great time had by all. Lots of great scenery along the way and bridge crossovers that make it interesting.

Long walk (hike)

Excellent recommendation from the front desk of Stowe Mountain Inn. Trail nice & clean, easy going. Enjoyed it. Very relaxing actually.

October

By Mary S |

We loved this path for a scenic ride through the area. It crosses bridges and provides gorgeous scenery. It’s flat and easy for casual riders too.

Great path and well used.

By Stoneywifie |

Great idea to have this path running almost the length of the resort. Such a shame there is no shuttle bus so you could walk one way and get the bus back. It would also be good to highlight which bars/restaurants are located at each stage of the walk.

Beautiful

By Kyle D |

This path is so beautiful and it is very easy to access. Whenever I am around here I always take my dogs for a quick run. Plus, this path is next to the Lamoile River, which is great for my dog because she loves going in the water. This path is paved and it is a very easy walk.

Beautiful grounds

By Nancy B |

Took a hike on a path near stowflake resort met nice people along the way grounds are beautiful it was a great weekend will visit in summer

Beautiful, relaxing way to get out in the outdoors!

By beb_sanders72 |

Beautiful, flat path for biking, running or walking. Very pleasant and worth the visit if you are in the Stowe area.

Pleasant Walk along River

By TrainManDan10 |

My wife and I walked along this trail with our Golden Retriever, who was leashed. Starting at the northern part of the trail, we enjoyed the river and countryside for probably a quarter of a mile.

Despite the recent rains, the trail was dry because the surface was asphalt.

Tip: Because of the high volume of bikes, keep to the right, including any dog, because it is sometimes difficult to hear these two wheelers coming. Everyone was courteous.

Easy and Picturesque Walk

By travelbug091011 |

This is an excellent and well-maintained walking path with pretty views. If you want to attempt walking off your beer calories, this path will take you most of the way from the village to the Alchemist Brewery.

Great walking/bike path

By bud909 |

We walked on the path a couple of times trying to hit different sections and were impressed by the path. Everyone on the path were friendly and we didn't have any problems with bikers.( Great scenery between the trees ) There were moms with carriages, elderly people and kids on the path having a good time. Would take the path again if we are in Stow in the future

Great ride

By Courtney W |

A great way to start our time in Stowe. Really beautiful. Easy to rent bikes. Get to see the town and plenty of places to stop.

Nice Walk

By Sean M |

Good walk with lovely scenery. We even saw a beaver, which was a first for us as we are from Ireland.

Really enjoyed the walk

Beautiful nature path- cyclist/walker/jogger...each should learn to share!

By Rudy1818 |

Intended to offer respite from fast-paced city life, the Rec path has good intentions. For years we cycled the path, always aware of the safety and courtesy to those using the path, while never understanding those who: blocked the path walking/cycling several abreast;stopped to chat in the middle of the path; cycled rapidly across the narrow bridge crossings; neglected to notify with "passing on your left" call. Courtesy goes a long way to make this path a safe and very enjoyable experience. Mother Nature has taken care of the rest!

Nice path

By wacotom |

We actually veered off the path to let the grandkids aged 2 and 3 to play in the rocks in the little stream next to the path. They enjoyed it a lot . The path looked well maintained and offered a long walk or blue ride area without worrying about car traffic. Certainly would recommend this to anyone visiting Stowe

Hiking the Path in Winter conditions

By rrainiel |

This trip was unexpectedly snowy, but we hiked 2 mi of the Path anyway round trip with hiking boots. In the past we have biked the whole 5.3 miles round trip in summer conditions and loved it. This trip we enjoyed many animal tracks after a fresh snow, good protection from the wind, and woodsy surroundings near the town. Mostly flat with minor rolling grades, and lovely brook and bridges with ducks below. It's a gem.

Beautiful, multi-purpose path

By QuickWhitTravel |

This is a stunning, well-maintained path for running, walking, biking, etc. It's very long, so you can really get some mileage in, and the views from the path are beautiful!

Nice walk when too cold to ski

By hallidayny |

We walked on the rec trail when skiing was not an option due to cold temps and wind on the summit of Mt. Mansfield. This path provided decent exercise and lovely views of town.

Best part of the trip

By Rina F |

This path was the best part of the trip. We rented bikes and enjoyed a picnic lunch. The paths are well maintained and the scenery is beautiful

Cycle rude

By Teapotsandy |

We borrowed bikes from our hotel The Golden Eagle resort and cycled the full route it is only 11 miles and mainly flat but it was a good ride and we enjoyed it

not to be missed bike ride

By frank i |

my wife and i rode this last friday, five miles each way. barely any hills so a real easy ride. views are spectacular. follows a stream. lots of places and bridge overpasses to stop and take pics. a must do if staying in stowe. rented bikes at mountain opps at the very beginning of the path

Excellent mild ride for families

By roscoepcoltrane |

This is a beautiful and easy trail for a relaxed ride. It runs from the center of town north along the river, and provides really easy access to a ton of markets and local businesses. It's a very flat ride, with great scenery. Not at all challenging if you're an experienced cyclist. I think it would be a good ride for a family with kids, or folks who prefer something milder than the off road trails. Only drawback is that it's an "out and back", rather than a loop, and honestly, it could be longer. Its a great way to see a lot of the local businesses and scenery in a relaxed setting. Most (all?) of the businesses have bike racks for those stopping by.

Lovely walk in a commercial area

By kshavin |

We enjoyed the fall colors, light and air during our walks on the path. It's fun to stop at the stores along the trail, too. Mornings are best, before it gets too crowded. It's an easy bike ride, too.

Quaint walk

By Traveler |

This was a great little place outside of downtown to take in the beautiful Vermont and Stowe scenery. Easy walking path!

So beautiful!

By Marla J |

Easy walk. So well done. Absolutely beautiful. Our compliments to the people of Stowe for creating this treasure.

By Samkate |

A lovely way to see the surrounding areas of Stowe. It is nice for cycling or walking, pity its not a circular walk.

Family fun on the Rec Path!

By WalFam170 |

One of our fav spots in Stowe. Whether you bring your own bikes or rent from one of the many bike rental spots, this is a must-do. The Rec Path has amazing views...go as fast or as slow as you want. Make stops along the way - restaurants/shops. It's a great activity for your vacation in Stowe!

walking stowe rec. path

The path and the walk even in December provides beautiful views of the mountains and the stowe area!

The Walk

By barryfc41 |

Stowe’s Recreation path is a must do if your walking or riding your bike. I walked and enjoyed 2.5 miles of Nature. I encountered families and individuals out for a morning ride on their bikes. There was even a quiet area set aside for walkers, which I thought was interesting because it was my first time seeing one.

Loved the path!

By Bri |

My favorite part of Stowe was the Rec Path. We biked and ran on it. I loved how the businesses had signs on the Rec Path so you could decide where to stop. All businesses also has bike racks right off the path. I wish every city had something like this.

Wow! What a beautiful adventure!

By andychiry |

We never thought we will have so much good time biking! We saw goats, we biked by streams, we dipped our feet in waters, we collected rocks and we biked all the way to 7.5 miles in a couple of days! What a gem! Totally recommended for families with kids all ages. Some people were walking, some were jogging, biking or roller blading. There is room for everyone.

Japanese Knotweed in Danger of taking over!

By 28Bruce |

The Stowe Recreation Path is a great idea and we walked a lot of it as well as the Quite Path. It remains very nice but we were horrified at how much Japanese Knotweed there was all along it, in the river and spreading into the town. There was nothing to suggest it is being dealt with and unless something happens soon I would be concerned over the future of the path and the surroundings

Enjoy the Stowe Rec Path and the Burlington Rec Path!

By GlobalVillage |

Background: Having lived near Burlington, Vermont for almost 30 years, I never made it to the Stowe Rec Path, since I live on the Burlington/South Burlington ("Burlington") Rec Paths. I finally loaded the bike in the car, drove to Stowe, and tried out the Stowe Rec Path!

Verdict: Better late than never! Whereas the Burlington Rec Path has some world class lake and Adirondack mountain views, the Stowe Rec Path is more bucolic, as it meanders along a stream or through verdant woods. When bicycling on the many Burlington or Stowe bridges, the Burlington Rec Path bridges are wide enough to accommodate two riders cycling in opposite directions; the Stowe Rec Path bridges are narrower and a bicyclist either needs to wait for the bridge to clear or to walk his or her bike on the bridge. I enjoy both the Burlington and Stowe Rec Paths and ride them both regularly.

Tip: In the Summer and Fall, both the Burlington and Stowe Rec Paths can get filled with loads of people, particularly on the weekends; best to ride or walk early or later on the weekends or during the week if you don't want the crowds.

I'm looking forward to riding the Stowe Rec Path in the Spring!

Great hiking path

By Dale S |

This trail goes along a river with picnic areas and trees and pastures with horses and cows. It is relaxing and scenic.

Lots of bikes, easy walk

By NH-Enigma1989 |

Easy walk with a lot of benches along the way, unique sitting areas, and forested, next to river. Lots of bikes come through here, so please observe the keep right rule and be respectful of bikers/walkers.

Beautiful and pitcuresque

We were in Stowe for a wedding and had a day or two to go off on our own. We found this path right around the corner from our hotel. The path is lovely. A lot of beautiful scenery along the way and a safe path with plenty of sun and shade along the way. I recommend this path for a leisurely walk.

did the hike twice. it was gorgeous, peacful and quite

By mnsp1964 |

hiked down the river twice in 4 days when we came up from Texas to go skiing/snowboarding . once with my adult son, next day went back on my own as I loved the quietude of it so much
saw almost no one except one day the horse drawn carriage went by
the next day went back again on my own. safe. it was beautiful to sit by the river and hear the flowing water. peaceful and serene.

Flash, splash, and yummm

By Daniela J |

This path is fantastic to rent some bikes and bike down to the city while stopping to play with pebbles in the river, maybe even have a picnic. But the best is to end up at the ice cream place and have a delicious ice cream and then peddle back up!!!!!

An easy slice of nature

By 2Vagabonders |

Easy, convenient, paved path for walking or biking from downtown Stowe - used several times during our time in Stowe.

Awesome!!!!

By leolszewski |

Walking on the recreation path during our visit to Stowe was fun. From our hotel, we were able to access the path easily, and it led us to some restaurants near by. The scenery on the path was beautiful.

A must-do while visiting Stowe. I real gem for walking, running, biking, and xc skiing!

By Destination87805 |

Enjoyed a wonderful bike ride with my grandson today. Spectacular views of Mt. Mansfield and a great way to visit attractions along the Mountain Road.

Interesting walk in the snow.

By Michael B |

Mostly follows the picturesque river that flows through this beautiful New England village. Groomed after heavy snowfalls to make getting about easier. Car parks at each end and at intervals throughout.

Great relaxing ride

By Tony C |

About 5 miles in length, the recreation path offers a nice relaxing bike ride that is relatively flat throughout. Ride past meadows and over bridges and come across a few nice places to grab a bite and or a drink. Don't have your own bike? No worries, there are few local places that rent them. We rented from AJs.

Lovely surprise

By Lisa_Pineda |

Next visit to Stowe we will definitely make more time to enjoy this gorgeous park/walk. The path meanders through some lovely fauna, has gorgeous views and occasional benches to sit and look.

Really lovely walking and biking path

Wanted to get a light workout in during a fall weekend in Stowe. This path was a lovely walk through a scenic wooded area. The pathway is paved and mostly flat. Great for a leisurely stroll, jog or bike ride!

Loved to bike around

By Surupa B |

Its great for biking, walking. Bike rentals were readily available. Great 10 mile path. Just gets very crowded with so many bikers and runners

Great path for walking, jogging, and biking

By Dom S |

If you are staying along the path, take time to get out for a walk. There is lots of gorgeous scenery and you walk along a creek in some sections. Just be wary of the cyclists since they don’t always warn you they are nearby. The path is 5 miles long and there are many locations to access it. Best part...it is free!

Great walking path

Stowe recreation path offers 7 miles for walking or biking along a river surrounded by lush vegetation. The path is paved and crosses the river several times.

Nice walk

By NetnEric |

This is a lovely path and mainly flat. It’s 5.5 miles long. The only disappointment was that when you get to the end there is nothing. We were hoping for maybe a café and toilets but there’s just a bench and boulders to sit on. It makes it long trip back but we called in to Stowe Cider and had a refreshing drink. Beware of the portable loos at the car parks. They are not very pleasant but when you have to go…….
