This is a beautiful location with a breathtaking view. The building at the top affords a nice place to cool off and also provides food and a fair amount of history. Unfortunately when there during a rain storm, the funicular doesn’t run in deference to lightning. It can get a little boring under those conditions. When foggy, the view is nonexistent.

When you visit Stone Mountain, you must ride the sky lift.
The ride only takes about ten minutes one way. You get to see the carving from a different view point plus roam around the top of the mountain and see a fantastic view of the city of Atlanta.

By Stephani G |

We always take our visitors here! It’s a great way to get the view for those not in the physical well being to hike. The ride is fairly smooth but fun enough to keep kids thrilled yet not scared. We always have very informative guides who gives us some brief history and cool facts as we see the view. Worth the money- same price as a movie ticket but so much better!

The cable car is frequent and a quick ride up or down. The walk up or down is not overly difficult for most but would present some challenges to anyone with any kind of mobility issues so you can ride up and down. Best views of the carving on the mountainside is from the cable car. It is easy to wlk around on the top because it is relatively flat.

By kythoro |

A fun ride that was quite crowded but still had a good view of the mountain and carving. Shops, food and lookout areas on top of mountain. Great view of Atlanta and surrounding areas. Smooth, quick ride on cable car.

By PW1958 |

Yes, definetely do this! So worth it! You can also hike up the mountain but we had our grandson with us, so we took the shylift up. You can walk all around and the views are beautiful!

By mo75jo |

Going to the top is I believe the most exciting ride. It is an awesome view from the top of the mountain and great area to take picture. Plus you can have a little history lesson reading all the history placards in the visitor area. I believe that if you are visiting Stone Mountain that you have to visit this even though it’s extra.

By Looby2015 |

Went late in day so missed some of the attractions. Lightening storm closed a lot of the rides sky train etc but worth seeing the waterfalls off the mountain.

By Jerome M |

It was a nice smooth ride to the top of Stone Mountain on the sky lift. Photo opportunities are plentiful as you ascend or descend the mountain. Once on top you can walk out on the top of the mountain and take in a scenic view of the surrounding area. If you choose, you can walk down the side of the mountain to the bottom, wear good shoes if you do. Overall, a pleasant experience.

By Henry R |

The SkyLift vehicles were made by a Swiss company and looked well-maintained. In minutes it is over. The views are great and you get really close to the carvings for super picture moments.

By Rita S |

Thoroughly enjoyed the sky lift cable car to the top of Stone Mountain. Hiked back down the mountain. Gorgeous views from mountaintop. Nice gift shop.

By Steve B |

Really enjoyed the views of the mountain and area around the park from the skylift. Ride was smooth and a little on the crowded side.

By natedogg78n |

This is a must if you are at Stone Mountain Park. Gives the best view of the carving and park. Very cool if there is fog on the mountain.

By charleslambert392 |

Car is nice way to get to the top of the mountain. One or two way tickets available.
Nice building at top for mobility challenged.

By stellerette |

This is an amazing experience. It is a bit pricey, but you can get it in a pass for Stone Mountain. I have been on different summits and I liked this one because it has fencing all the way around so that you feel completely safe. Beautiful.

By hbh1559 |

Great way to get up, fun ride and safe the employees are friendly and het in line quick as they have a couple of benches if it is busy they fill the car up ,

By CamperCrawdad |

very afraid of heights, almost panic attack type of issues, but i had no issues at all with the ride! It was very smooth and quick and didnt rock or shake like i thought it might. I almost didnt go on it but wow would i have missed out on a great view at the top!!

By Linda S |

The sky ride was fun and Stone Mountain was beautiful. But we were very disappointed to find out that nothing else was open the day that we went. We would have loved to go on the train and maybe a few other things. Wish the website would have stated that.

By Vicki S |

I was conflicted about how to rate this since I HATE cable cars in general. But I preferred riding the cable car to hiking up the mountain on foot. My laziness overcame my fear of being dangled above the ground on a cable. I just didn't look down. But it IS pretty neat to see the carving up a little closer if you can dare look out. And once you're up on top of the granite mountain it's neat to walk around up there and get some great pictures. Plus, the cable car operators were very friendly, making it a much more pleasant experience.

By EMW422 |

It was a smooth ride up with a great conductor. The views are great and the breeze was a nice change in temperature. It is a great place to sit and reflect. Souvenir and snacks are sold up top, too.

By Cynthia M |

This was so cool. This lift takes you to the top of Stone Mountain if you can't walk or just don't want to walk. It's very much a gondola-type ride. It quick and very smooth. We enjoyed it both ways as it also offers unique views of the carving. It runs frequently enough that you don't feel like you are waiting around for a long time. Please note, it was still the off season when we were there. I'm uncertain just how busy it could possibly get.

By Tim K |

I like the sky lift but can be kind of $$$ for my taste. However if you walk up the mountain and are all burned out, what are you going to do.

By Anna G |

The day we visited it raining and you could see nothing but fog, but nevertheless we enjoyed the sky ride. It was very cold on the summit, so we could not really walk there, but it was an experience.

By Sam |

Forget everything around the mountain. The trip up and spending time on top of the mountain is the main draw. It is a quick ride, but gives you a good view and saves you a mile hike up.

By M R |

Wouldn't pay for this individually but it is a part of the all day pass. I preferred walking up but many can't so this is an alternative.

By Susan H |

Beautiful trip to the top of the mountain. It takes about 2 minutes to get to the top. Then you can walk around and see views from all sides. There is a trail if you would rather hike up and or down. Would definitely recommend!

By Waunderlust |

The conductor was hilarious! The ride is fast and smooth. Worth it if you don’t want to hike to the top.

By L0vinL1fe62 |

The scenery from the top of the mountain was gorgeous! We had a super pass so it was included in the cost of our ticket. I would not travel to the park just for this attraction but it was well worth going on since we were already at the park.

By heatherdufner |

Love this ride, such beautiful views!!! It's such a good fun ride to the top and then suggest walk down!!

By danda1118 |

The ride is only a few minutes long and very smooth sailing. The views from the top of the mountain are simply breath taking! It was so worth it. Beware that there are ticks EVERY WHERE up top. I wish we had known that and would have brought bug spray. It was extremely hot when we visited but there are so many air conditioned places with things to do that it isn't unbearable.

By Denis O |

The summit skyride takes you up the mountain very quickly, yet smooth as silk for filming. Goes right past the carving, too.

By Laurie Ann C |

This was part of the VIP Pass to the park so we took advantage. The ride up and down really gives you some great views of the mountain and the surrounding park. I am not overly fond of heights but found this tolerable. The operator of the car does give you some insight into the park and the mountain and quite entertaining. There is a great breeze that goes thru the car on the way up and down.

By Loretta S |

Besides them packing you in like cattle this ride to the top of Stone Mountain was very cool. The view was incredible and it was a great place to get some nice pics!

By Kelly |

Scenic tram ride up and down Stone Mountain with entertaining and informative tour guide! Great views of the park and stone carving! Wonderful time walking around the top of the mountain and enjoying the breathtaking views!

By M0mB0mb |

Much quicker and easier than a hike up! When you are on the way up, make sure you sit on the right side of the car in order to see the carving. On the way down, sit on the left and look behind you.

By Ramblinrebel |

Brother and I rode up the mountain while my wife viewed from below.
Reasonable price for a great view. The carvings were great. Similar to the Presidents at Mt. Rushmore.
Will go again next time we are here.

By Helenfbp |

Best thing we did all day! The ride up was fun with a friendly and interesting sky ride operator. Loved walking on top of the mountain!! Fascinating to see the carving so close and from the side angle.

By Wayne H |

This was a very smooth ride to the top of the Mountain. It was cloudy so we couldn't see far at all. Once on the top, we went outside and walked around. It was very cold and windy! Would recommend dressing in warm clothing if you plan on visiting the summit.
On our decent back down, it was very cool to come back out of the clouds and to see around again!
You also go right past the carving on the way up and back down. Great photo ops!!
If we would've had the time we would've hiked up and rode the tram back down, to experience the hike as well.

By MattOz1959 |

The cable car was fast and efficient. We didn't want to hike up the trails so we opted for the cable ca. We bought the package deal for $20 to also include the museum and farmhouse exhibits. All the fun stuff at Stone Mountain was closed at this time of year and only open on weekends.

By Perry V |

if you have a window space you are ok but they pack u in like sardines on a hot day very uncomfortable now like most attractions if you pay extra u are guaranteed a front row space

By waynewalker52 |

I'm impressed by the staff. On our ride down, my wife lost her wristband - admission ticket. One of the staff picked it up, turned it in and we were able to recover easily so that we could complete our visit.

By Oziland |

Car park charged $15 per car, Allow yourself to spend plenty of time to explore the mountain by combining sky lifting and hiking down the mountain. Skylift charge $7.00 one way. The scenery is endless when you get to the top. Fireworks was great, bring a blanket to set on the grass. The show starts at 9.45 pm on summer time. We were excited about the laser show at first but It got boring as it was full of advertising. Did not enjoy it at all

By Chris W |

To find out that Stone Mountain is just a very big Rock and all the festivities throughout the day... This was a really cool place to visit. The concert on the grass, the laser show against the rock, and all the other fan fair made for a great day. I recommend this for families or just a You and the Wife getaway...

Not much to say here. The ride is short but my issue is they decide to shut down when they want. The kids enjoyed it but it wasn’t overly impressive.

By readytoretire3 |

We went there our last day in Atlanta. Called 1st to make sure it was open, got conflicting info. Parking was $15 not $25 we were told maybe because most of attractions weren't open yet for season. Another $15 each for cable car. Spent 6 hrs there, drove around park and did a lot of walking to various sites. Had a great day regardless of train, boat, one gift shop, restaurant and golf course not being open. Still pricey though

By Betsy B |

I was so mad, the skyride COST is $15 one way, $20 round trip!! Site says $7 and $12! $60 for 3 round trip!! I had to do it because I promised and they were so excited, but will never do it again. They need to UPDATE the website!

By Renee H |

We got to Stone Mountain around 2. When we bought the tickets we specified we were only there for the train and SkyLift. Gave us a brochure that stated SkyLift closed at 5 p.m. There was a long line so we decided to ride the train first. We did other attractions and then got to the SkyLift a little before 4:30. Don't know how long the SkyLift was closed but they closed going up to Stone Mountain due to capcity. There is no getting a refund. There should be no reason that Stone Mountain gets to capacity and visitors at the bottom get turned away. There should be some type of set time limit unless you walk up to the mountain. With that said, I have been up on the mountain and it is worth seeing. Just remember to make this your priority if arriving in the afternoon.

By Waunderlust |

Love hiking but in this cold windy weather, I was super happy there was a lift! It goes really quick, it’s really smooth, and gives you a great angle of the carving. Really cool!

By Rhonda S |

What a ride! Nice big car with an attendant who gives a good talk on the way to the summit. On hot days, it's the best way to catch a quick breeze on the top of the mountain.

By Jen R |

Take the time to ride the cable car to the top. The ride is fun and the view of the surrounding area is incredible.

By kingj24 |

We have ridden cable cars before and this one was like the others I haven't had a bad ride. It was smooth going up and down. The engineer was very personable and gave a little history going up. You can see the carving very close up when the car goes by. I would suggest the ride.

By ndnpassferfer |

If you are afraid of heights, I dont advise trying. I found it beautiful and breathtaking. My 7 yr old loved it and thought he was on top of the world.

By BigTimeTravelFamily |

If you are afraid of heights - this will be nerve wracking. My kids were like statues up there afraid to fall off!

By Dan B |

This is a must to do if you are in Atalanta. Breath-taking view of ATL and Stone Mountain. Absolutely amazing to sit out on the mountain.

By Jeanne H |

1st day there the skyride was shut down because of thunderstorms in the area. On our 2nd day we got up bright & early to make sure we got on the skyride, we did, and it was amazing! The immenseness of the mountain was huge. Also, I was not aware that you can hike it. Great experience!

By andrea c |

It was scary but it was well worth the ride up and the view from the top of the mountain of Atlanta and the mountains. We went in the evening and it was empty we rode up and then took some pictures from the top and then walked around and took one of the last trams down. I am not one for hights but this is a must do. It goes very quickly to the top and back down again. I wish you didn't have to stand siting would have made me feel better.

By kythoro |

Cable car ride was fun with lots of views but with very few seats. Most customers had to stand. Views of the carving, mountain and surrounding area were awesome. Well worth a trip but if you have a fear of heights, don't look down!

By Sandra H |

We love Stone Mountain and my four year old grandson loves the Skylift so much we usually plan on at least two rides up and down the mountain

By Gramie |

Cable car is a short but nice ride to top, passing close to the carving, with audio info about the history of carving. Conductors very nice and knowledgeable of area.

By radx4 |

We rode the Summit Skyride to the top of Stone Mountain. This was considerably easier than hiking, and we enjoyed a nice narration from our pilot on the rides up and down. At around 2 minutes it is a short and mostly smooth ride.

Although it was a nice ride, $15 for round trip tickets is a bit of a ripoff especially after we had to pay $20 per car to enter Stone Mountain. The tram also sits idle for long periods of time. It can be as much as 30 minutes between tram departures.

When we visited, the computer systems were down and it took more than 45 minutes of waiting to even be able to buy tickets. Customer service was not a priority.

Overall, I did like the view from the stop of stone mountain, and the tram saved us quite a bit of time and effort.

By Anja M |

We used the skytrain to get up there as we were with friends and a baby. We did not have to wait too long but I guess there might be a line to go on the train. It is only 2 trains that go up and down. The ride is about 2 minutes and the view is amazing.
It is pretty nice on the top of the mountain, I would probably walk one way next time and take the train either up or down.
Still definitely a recommendation.

By Greg R |

What a great addition to the park to see the carving up close as well as take advantage of the top ofthe rock. Enjoyed very much..

By Mimi P |

I'm afraid of heights but didn't want to miss this adventure with my kids.
Wonderful ride up & down. Nice stop at the top to walk around, eat, use restroom.
Very happy we did it!

By CFL-gal |

The cable cars take riders to the top about every 15-20 minutes. Beautiful views of the area and of the Stone Mountain carving. This can be purchased separately or in the adventure package. The guides on board share the story of the area. Fun Times for All!

By Kathy A |

Nice, quick two minute ride to the top. “Driver” provides a bit of history on sights and carving...best they can do, in less than two minutes. It is the best view of the carving, for picture taking. Need to stand in the front going up and, in the back, going down, to get the best take.

By Brian B |

This is a must if you are going to see this fantastic park. You see not only the far off city of Atlanta, but a nice up close view of the carvings themselves. Wonderful!

By John M |

A pleasant ride to the top of Stone Mountain. We were there during Winter Festival -wait was not long and ride operators very good.

By Lady St.Claire |

I love the lift at Stone Mountain park. Its cool if you can climb up one side on a relaxed hike and get to the top, then relax and enjoy the magnificent view and then ride down from the top.

By Caroline F |

Take a picnic and have it on top, a real experience. It was nice to walk round the whole mountain and find our own little spot to sit.
If you don't have much time go and do this on it's own, all you'll need is an hour and a half.

By Jennifer O |

This was my first ever Gondola ride of this type. We had the VIP experience so we were able to choose our place first. Then the loading of people starts. It was as though sardines were in this car.

If you are concerned about COVID I would either A) wear a mask or B) skip this attraction.

At the top of the mountain the ground is very uneven due to erosion of the rock. The view was beautiful and I would do this again!

By Frauke |

Had arrived in the park shortly after 10am. Of course we had to pay admission to find that the cable car was not running, allegedly broken. No hints were given beforehand, all other attractions did not open until 2pm.
Is it possible to communicate

By 123lovetravel2013 |

Even though it was a very hot day, we took the ride on the Sky Lift Cable Car to the top of Stone Mountain. It was very much worth it since we were able to walk around the top of this mammoth mountain monument. The views from atop this rock were wonderful and we could see quite far off in various directions.

By Jayaprakash G |

Great place to visit with Family
Train ride and sky ride is awesome

Lighting in the night time is good

Overall it’s good …..

By Dr. Mark Y |

Excellent views from above and on the way up. Way to crowded to be comfortable and no air on the actual ride.

By 455michaelvictor |

So it cost about 15 bucks per person to ride up and down the Lyft. It's actually really cool and only takes about 2 minutes. You might get a better value if you ride up and walk down. However oh, I'm too lazy so I really enjoyed the ride. do yourself a favor and bring a small backpack and eat lunch on top of the stone. Great view l. There are no tables so bring a blanket and plan on sitting on the stone. Don't forget to bring an extra twenty bucks to park.

By Robert V |

Going up and down in the cable car gave a great view of what detail there was in the carving of this monument....

By chelelosgirl |

Takes you up the mountain in about 3 minutes. Saves the walk, gives great views...my one and only complaint would be the number of people on each car. Even with VIP and being able to board first and have complete pick of seats we ended up crowded in. That being said it is the perfect option for those who for whatever reason can't hike up, as was the case with one of our party.

By orlandobop54 |

The close up view of the carving is Awesome! You realize the hardship the artists and other people dealt with to create this beautiful artwork.

By grits_are_good |

Short but dang it beats walking up. Walking down was fine. View from the top is great. Definitely do it

By Retired TN Grammie |

Awesome ride it is hot waiting to get started. (Well in July it was) it a very quick ride though. Not much sitting lots standing room. Top of the mountain as awesome.

By edandmary2016 |

After spending four wonderful days in Atlanta we had made reservations to visit Stone Mountain on our way home to Florida. We left Atlanta on Thursday 9-22-2016 for the short ride to Stone Mountain Park. Driving up to the entrance we paid our 15.00 entrance fee and drove down to the Sky Lift Station only to find that it was not operating. The cafe was not open and the gift shop was not open. We then drove to the train ride station and again found it was not operating. We drove to every area of the park and found that there was not a thing open. No restaurant, no gift shops, even the rest rooms were locked. The carving on the side of the mountain cannot be viewed from any place because the views are blocked by a stand of trees. What a terrible disappointment. We paid our entrance fee and then could not even have a cuo of coffee or use a rest room. The only information we received as we left in disgust was that most of the employees are school kids and the park is only open on weekends at this season. Might be nice to let people know this prior to anyone making a special trip.

By Chris M |

Great experience!! We had 3 groups on the skyride including ourselves and they had us social distanced, as much as possible!!

By Laura A |

It's a short ride but you do get to hear about the carving. The tram operator gave history, dimensions, helpful hints, etc. it would've been very difficult for me to walk up the mountain b/c I've not been excising for long & I'm over-weight. But I made the hike down ok & felt like I had accomplished something & got my exercise in for the day too.

By wayside824 |

You have to do this if you go to Stone Mountain. The view is amazing and the ride is truly fun. My grandson had a blast.

By Melissa M |

Had a great time, lots of things to do at the park will definetly return. The walking trails are a must.

By scruise2017 |

The Skyride is not cheap - $32.40 for two - but it is worth the price if you don't have time to hike to the top. The ride is smooth and very scenic - we got a great few of the carving from the car.

By Mary L |

Loved riding this up and down the mountain. Not scary and my children loved it as well. Beautiful view.

By Ed M |

This will cost you $12.00 plus tax but it only takes about 3 minutes to get to the top of the mountain. From the top the view is wonderful. It was hot on top of the mountain when we were there but this is a little snack shop on top.

By WendyMinSC |

It was really cool to see the park from above & the carving close-up at a different angle. We love hiking, but it was a really hot day, so riding the SkyLift up & hiking down was a great option. I'm terrified of heights, but felt safe & secure inside the cable car.

By JimS628 |

Great view and really nice breeze from the top of the rock. There is a nice gift shop at the top and a 360 view of Georgia.

By Holly Marie |

This is an awesome was to get to the top especially for people who can’t hike the mountain. I thought it was going to be a scary ride but it was awesome and they talk about facts and things around the whole way up so your focus on the facts and not the fact that you’re going so high up. I love it and can’t wait to take my boys to experience such an awesome place.

By Abused Customer |

NO REFUNDS.....REALLY??

Purchased tickets but Skyride never opened.
They do NOT give refunds.
REALLY?

They 'claimed' it was too windy.
In reality, they were just to lazy to open the Skyride for the last 3 hours of the day.
There was rain and clouds in the morning but beautiful skies for the last 3 hours of the day.

If you don't want to open....your call.
No Refunds because you don't want to open...JERK policy.

If anyone wants tickets, they are good for a year.
This place was too lame to drive 600 miles back for a disappointing location.

By KNM |

If you get a chance, stop here. Amazing view and experience.. The gondola ride is an amazing experience. The views are stunning.

By barbara |

Top cable car, from our home country. Short and unique ride to the top. Great views the whole way.

By bbwv31a |

Great place to go on a warm clear day. Great view of Atlanta and the surrounding area. One option it to take the cable car to the top of Stone Mountain and then hike down.

By Pam C |

My husband and I rode the Skylift on a pretty windy cool day. I'm glad we took the trip in spite of the weather! There are magnificent views from up there! And, the mountain alone is something to see with all the depressions and cracks. We went later in the day otherwise we would have ridden the SkyLift up and taken the hiking trail down.

By AshleyKPeach |

It doesn't take that long to ride to the top of Stone Mtn, but all along the way the "conductor" describes the carving, mountain activities, and gives a bit of history. Once at the top of the mountain, you can immediately ride back down in 15 minutes or walk around the top for awhile grabbing a later gondola, or WALK DOWN (we think it's harder to walk DOWN than it is to walk UP the mountain). We appreciate that the conductors will alert passengers to anticipate The Swing of the gondola- WHeeeee!!

By jazzysolo |

We got there just at dusk and we're o e if the last trips up. So beautiful at sunset!!! We loved it!

By grits_are_good |

2.5 minute rude vs slightly over a mile walk up in the sweaty heat = no brainer. We did walk down. Felt terrible for those trying to walk up. Worth every penny. View from the top is great.

By Lilhermans04 |

I am so so so afraid of heights. But this was not so bad. Very little swinging. Ride up was pretty smooth. The kids loved it. You can get a view of carving on mountain better than anywhere else.

By Rsavell |

Great views! Opportunity to take some great pictures of area. We have never tried to hike up, but we are going to do that next time.

By lhjm1213 |

To me, this is something everyone who visits the park should do. The views are amazing and the ride is fun. It does cost extra, but I thought it was well worth the added price.

By bbwv31a |

Provides a great view of the Atlanta skyline. For the moderately athletic take the tram to the top of Stone Mountain and then take the trail down and around the mountain to the various parking lots.

By toody703 |

If you’ve ridden a cable car before it’ll be exactly what you expect. It has amazing views and is a definite must see. There is a fee to ride but there is also a hiking trail for the more in shape & adventurous. There are lots of other attractions & things to do with the kids as well.

By ChanceMan00 |

There wasn't time to walk up the mountain and the sky lift was fun as well as convenient. You get a great view of the stone carvings on the way up.

Being on top of the mountain feels like being on the moon. It's solid stone with water puddles in the craters, although some trees have managed to grow despite the environment. Walking around up and down is good exercise.

There is a little store at the top where you can buy snacks and drinks.

By marinjc |

Great way to see the carving up close. And a great view from the top of the mountain. You can take the cable car back down or you can walk the back side of the mountain.

By patty1981553 |

Took the Skylift up to the top of Stone Mountain. Wanted to walk up but the day was too warm. Great view from the top and the ride up was great.

By Tony E |

Other than Gatlinburg, this is the only skylift in the south. Smooth as silk, well operates, with clever attendants who talk you all the way up and down.

By gjk777 |

My wife and I enjoyed the attractions of Stone Mountain, learning of the amazing Carving if the 3 Confederate Officers relating to the Civil War between the South and North.

Also enjoyed going up onto the biggest Granite Rock on Earth of which like a Iceburg only 10% is visible above ground and is over 800 feet high. Great view from the top and some interesting facts on wildlife and plants up there also.

What we really loved though, being kids at heart, even though we are in our 60's was visiting the Giant Bug World which is also at this location and as you can see, we barely made it out alive... ok maybe we had a little too much fun, but life is to short not to enjoy fabulous locations such as these..

Enjoy... Greg& Evelyn Keyes visiting from the Outback of Victoria, Australia.

By BadermanTowson_MD |

got a ride to the top of the mountain via a smooth ride complemented by travel info supplied by the 'engineer'

By ben h |

This climb was recommended by the hotel staff in Atlanta but what they didn't say that there was a cable car you can take to the top, it is a hard walk for the unfit of simi unfit people but the view from the top is worth it, you can see 360 degrees around from the top like the city of Atlanta when you are ready to go down you can return on foot or take the cable car, if you choose the cable car it takes you into a theme park which is good for the kids from there, there is a free shuttle bus to take you back to where you started the walk I did see an old train but do not know where it goes.

By Mike A |

No ac in the cabin and they pile in as many bodies as possible in the cable car. Short ride but it needs air conditioning.

By BchBaby21 |

Fun to do once with the kids, made them feel on top of the world. Enjoyed the views. Since there was no wait in line was worrth the trip, wouldn't want to wait in a long line as once at top you spend a few minutes walking around taking photos and that's it.

By Mahanna M |

The scenery was great, but the carts going up top the top was way to crowded and packed! I wish there was much more to do when you get to the top of the mountain.

By ranger505 |

The car was crowded going up and coming down, there weren't enough bars or straps to hold on to. The lift operators in both the red and blue cars were interesting and amusing. The view from the top was spectacular.

The carving was beautiful, but hard to get a grasp of the size of the bas relief.

By jostvan |

The ride up the mountain is moderately priced, and is an absolute must if you visit the park. (Unless you actually want to hike up, of course) At the top, you can walk about and see forever in 360 degrees. How could you go and not go up?

By muddneck79 |

We purchased our tickets through the hotel which gave us 2 for 1 (days) instead of getting the price of 1 day. We really enjoy going up to the stone mountain park sky lift, the kids didn't really think much of the cart but when we got to the top it was super cold. So we didn't stay to long.

By Ron C |

The cable car is a great way to see the area and make it to the top of the mountain. I recommend a day pass rather than individual tickets to all the things you may want to do.

Short ride, very scenic, wish more information of what we were seeing was provided. Would have also liked more information regarding the actual caring.

By Leigh B |

This activity is a must do for the family. You're able to see that stonecarving up close from the Skylift. At the tops you can walk around and have 360* view.

By Richard D |

It's a great view from the Skyride. The only way to appreciate the carving. Highly recommended. Bring binoculars.

By Linda P |

I visited this park when I was a child and had to share with my husband , the cable ride to the top of the mountain was amazing, a great state park and a must see. We were there May 16, very little crowd, the train ride was informative , the mini history movie about the mountain was informative. We bought an annual pass and look forward to our next visit. I did not walk down the mountain but my husband did, truly a challenge, need good shoes, this walk is from rock to rock not a path.

By ROB555 |

If you visit the park use the sky lift cable car to see the great views from the top (car parking is expensive)

By Connector28876545584 |

Im pretty sure i almost died. if i leaned a little to the left it would've fallen over. wish i could give a 0/5. 6 more rides on that till it falls over.

By JoyceMacCormick |

On my list of things to do, ride the Skyride at Stone Mountain. It was a smooth ride both ways. Birds eye view, was not disappointing. Beautiful day in December to be on top of Stone Mountain.

By Jonni H |

This is the best attraction in the park. I wish we had just gotten this instead of the all access pass which was not very useful due to the crowds at the skyhike and laser tag.

By natedogg78n |

This is a must do when visiting Stone Mountain. Offers the best view and is a great option if you aren't into hiking the mountain. We always make it a stop for us.

By Laurie W |

So this Skyride is for one purpose.. So you can see the monument and get to the top. My sister-in-law did not ride bc she's afraid of heights but it was so smooth and so short that my other friends who are also afraid of heights were standing to take pictures. Do it! It's super cool!

By Melanie L |

The ride up was smooth and once at the top the views were just fantastic!!! You can spend as little or as much time as you'd care to. You can walk all the way almost to the edge or stay close to where the cable cars are. There's a small snack stand as well as gift shop up there.

By Rafidah A |

I went to the top of the mountain by hiking it. It will take you approximaty 30 minutes to reach the top of the mountain.

From there, I enjoyed myself with a cable car ride to the bottom of the mountain. It was a short and fun ride.

You can see the whole park from the cable car. The fare is $12/ person

By Wend Jay |

This was a neat thing to see not far from downtown. The view was amazing and the mountain was something worth checking off your list while nearby.

By pbskateso |

Breath taking view you can see the city of Atlanta off in the distance and a few other States when the sun comes up it will take your breath away for sure a must to see.

By Robert V |

We enjoyed our ride up to the top of the mountain then walking on this huge piece of rock was awesome.....

By Jenn C |

Historical Stone Mountain is certainly the center of this huge park. The carving on the mountain was thing we most wanted to see. We weren't interested in the amusement park type offerings in the park, but really wanted to see and learn about mountain itself, even though it is representative of the Confederate States of America. It is still a part of American history, and the carving itself is beautiful.

The SkyLift Cable Car is the very best option. It offers the best views of the mountain and carving, and while on the trip up the mountain, the cable car operator gives facts and information on the mountain itself, how large it is, what it is made of, and how the carving was created. Really interesting! Once at the top of the mountain, there is easy access to the fenced area visitors can walk on and enjoy the view. Amazing!

If you want to see the carving, don't miss the SkyLift Cable Car. Best way to see it!

By Road660460 |

Cable car ride was very good. The wait time was not bad at all. Staff was good. The top of the mountain was great. It's great for a sightseeing opportunity and the kids loved it. You can take great pictures as well.

By Adrian H |

A lot of things I don’t understand about Stone Mountain other than its a unique place that has totally ruined a wonderful creation of nature. Great that the cable lift takes people to the top that cannot walk up but other than that is ruins the view spoil all natural aspects of this unique place.

By SamS678910 |

PRICELESS view! Can't wait to go back and walk back down the mountain again. The weather was perfect. We'll hopefully make it back for a light show the next go round. The kids are itching to go back too.

By CyndiLynn |

The kids and husband hiked up the mountain. I rode up the skylift and we all rode down. The wait time was minimal and the ride was smooth. The operator gave a mini history on the way up. I wish they had done it on the way down too, so my family could have heard. The gift shop and refreshments at the top were nice.

By whimisical |

This was a really fun way to see the mountain. There is limited seating on the car. Get there early if you don’t want to stand in line. You can walk around at the top. It is quite a sight to see.

By Bill H |

I did this Sky Ride in the 1970's. I went back on that now that Im over 50. Still the same great ride. The view of Stone Mountain Carving of Robert E Lee was worth the ride. . The view at the top of the Stone Mountain was good. Atlanta somehow looked smaller from the top than what I remembered.

By Luvsviolet |

It was a short ride up to the mountaintop, all 800 plus feet. The cable car fits over 60 people comfortably and takes less than 10 minutes to get to the top. You can see all around as you go up. The cost is included in the park entrance fee or you can pay for it separately. Once at the top, you can enjoy walking around, enjoying the scenery, decide to come down by following one of the trails or take the ride back down.

By Bernad Powell |

ALways a cost effective meant to take in the sight sof the Atlanta are,a family friend local, with prices that will fit ever budget, the food leaves alittle for the palate, stay close to local restaurants, your stomach will thank you

By Deborah Lucas A |

We wanted to see the top of the mountain, but with the heat and some of our party having health issues, we opted for the cable car. It was worth it!! A fast travel, if you want to get up to the top but can't walk it--take the gondola!

By MaryKop |

If you don't want to hike a mile uphill, then this is the way to go. Quick 2 minute ride take you from the base of the mountain to its summit. Fun little dipsy ride and the guides give some interesting history along the way. Ride up in the front of the car for a better view of the carving.

By Richard D |

What a view. It was simply amazing even in the low clouds and rain. It was well worth the money and the time.

By galindo216 |

We took the SkyLift to the top of the mountain and walked down. Excellent combination for moderate exercise. However, beware the parking lot is nowhere near the bottom of the mountain. You either have to walk and additional mile or so purchase the train ride back to the area. Otherwise you have beautiful views!

By BLuelotus725 |

Getting on the cable car is only $12. You can stay on the mountain for as long as you like and can come down when you are ready. This is also a great way to get a better look at the carving on the mountain. The height is very steep, so if you are afraid of heights it is better that you take the view from the garden below.

By Abcfamily01 |

You absolutely must ride the Sky Ride. This is the least stressful route to the top of the mountain. This smooth ride is about 5-7 minutes long and gives great views of the Stone Mountain Carving, the lake and surrounding areas.

By Wiseguys4jc |

So i hate cable cars of any kind yet this was very fun. Our lift conductors were very knowledgable about the mountain and carving and very funny so they helped make the trip easier both ways for this scaredy cat. Thank you! In all seriousness, this is an easy ride and the scenery from the new vantage points on the ride are beautiful. Dont pass on this ride. You will love it and love walking around on the top of "the rock"

By Neondolly |

The ride up and down are very smooth. The views from the top are beautiful and they have a snack bar on site.

By T G |

Hadn't been here for 15 years, now with kids we took them to Stone Mountain and the loved it, too much todo in a day.

By Jen G |

The red, riveting car of the future is here! While the wait might be a little difficult for families with young children, the experience is unforgettable. The air-conditioned, small, and window-walled car of the future is here to stay, so get on those jackets and effortlessly move your way up the famed stone mountain!

By Dan |

My wife and I took the Skyride while we were visiting the park. If you do not want to walk up the trail to the top this is a great way to get there. Not much seating inside the car, so plan to stand but not to worry because it is a very short ride to the top. Car operator shares a lot of useful information and you will have a great view of the carving along the way. On top there is fencing around the entire perimeter to help keep folks safe. There is also a gift shop selling typical tourist items as well as snacks, water, etc. The Summit is 825 feet above the ground so views from the top are stunning. You have a 360 degree view including views of the Atlanta skyline and the Appalachian Mountains. If you decide to walk down, the trail is about a mile and is very uneven as you walk over the natural rocks. Parking for the Sky Lift and the walk-up trail are in different locations so if you plan to do both you would need to plan a way to get back to your car. There is a $20.00 entrance fee to get into the park and the Skyride was an additional $12.00. We spent an entire day at the park. Definitely worth the money. Lots of attractions at Stone Mountain but many are seasonal and operating hours vary. Before visiting I recommend you call or check on line to avoid disappointment. Plenty of parking.

By AnnualAdventurer |

It is a beautiful ride up and an excellent view at the top. The hike down is do-able for moderate physical activity. Very interesting and worthwhile trip.

By whitmire1954 |

The view from the top of Stone Mountain is stunning. I took the sky ride, but you can also walk. The views are unlimited according to the weather. There is restrooms and a snack bar. Well worth the price.

By Donny W |

you can hike to the top of the mountain but this is much easier. You have fantastic views of the Atlanta skyline.

By Charmain D |

The cable car lift is a great way for travelers to get a view of the surrounding area. The ride to the top is quick. There are only a few seats on the car so if you are someone that needs to sit you should purchase the express ticket that lets you go to the front of the line. Otherwise you will have to stand on the way up!

By Charity B |

It was a little bit hazy the day we went but is still a fantastic view. We got some great pictures. Riding through the fog was also very interesting.

By JimSuds1 |

We visited the Stone Mountain park this week and enjoyed it very much. Even our 88 year old mom came with us. She is very limited in her walking and yet was able to enjoy the park. We took the gondola to the summit and had a lovely ride up. The gondola was not scary - very solid and we'll designed with great views out of every side. The operator was fun to listen to and made it enjoyable. The views from the summit are breathtaking, and the breezes were perfect for a summer day. We watched the large vultures soar on the updrafts -magnificent! Even the views from inside the airconditioned building at the top were great. We could see all the way to the Atlanta skyline.
After the gondola ride we drove around the park - crossing the wooden covered bridge, and enjoying the woods and views of the lake.
An enjoyable visit without much walking.

By PaleoGypsy |

This is because you, along with many other people, are going to be raising your arms in the air to hold onto the stirrups. Summers in the American South are extremely hot and humid. Bring a hand sanitizer if other people’s germs bother you. Seating is limited. Most people stand. On a hot summer day, those armpits become awfully ripe. Peeyuwww. If you are short or have school-aged children, try to stand close to the windows so you may have a view. Once you’re at the top of Stone Mountain, walk around if your fitness level allows. I especially enjoyed the view of Atlanta. On a clear day, you can see for miles, and there is a 360 view. There is a bathroom and a small facility for snacks. Pay attention to the weather so that your experience will not be cut short.

By Debbie L |

Short ride to the top. If you dont want to be close to people this isn’t for you because they pack them in. If you dont like heights dont do this because the idea is to get out and walk on the rock.

By Edsalldw |

I compare this to Other trams. But since there is nothing like it in the area it is a must see. Palm Springs Blackcomb lake Como. Snowbird All are better but this is still a must see. Surprising how how big 3 acres is on the top. That is the size of the carving - 3 acres Lots of free parking close by

By 133cjones |

This was a great ride up the mountain and an excellent view of the carving. The cable car driver gave us some great information about he history behind the carving. If you are scared of heights this will not be a big problem. We had three people from our group that were and they handled it fine.

By PamRoad |

The cable car ride is the best way to get a close view of the carving and get to the top of the mountain for the beautiful views. It is quite smooth and moves quietly and quickly to the top. Cable cars going up and down are both to the left of the carving, so keep that in mind if you are looking to get some good photos from the car.

By Sai Tax A |

We went on a very windy day, so could not do the sky ride. The trail up the mountain is not fully paved , so not accessible by strollers and wheelchairs. The place is really spread out and is very well planned to accommodate bikers and joggers on the road. There is also snow tubing and a skating rink created with artificial now for those craving for winter snow experience. There is a very scenic walkway to the curved bridge with lake all around. Great place for picnic and lots of options for people all ages.

By 409gingerg |

If you are going to SMP, take the sky ride. One price ticket included several things. Price was reasonable. Great views of Atlanta from the top.

By Emily G |

Fun and educational! Great view with a history lesson. Our conductor was super friendly and a good presenter and helped ease the nerves of the youngest passengers with light hearted humor.

By slrig2009 |

Bring lots of water to drink. If you don’t like strenuous activity, take the tram to the top of the mountain. If you don’t mind a strenuous walk up, and down the hill, I’d recommend taking your time and walk the mountain. You need to plan at least three or four hours for the round trip. But it’s definitely worth it.

By Didojen |

This is a real treat to find in a park. It is an additional cost to what you pay to enter the park. You can pay for a one way ride or round trip. We chose to do round trip only because the walk back to the car would have been about a mile and a half. You get the best views of the carving from the ride.

By mrskristiner |

Loved the sky ride! Awesome views. We bought an online package so was able to do a bunch of activities. Worth the price. The sky ride was s great way to quickly get up to the top. Kids loved it!

By Ane R |

This is in my humble opinion, the best way to get to the top of the mountain. The ride is short but effective. You can hike up the trail, of course, and many do. The ride is short and pleasant, but there are a few moments when you might suppose you could hit treetops or the side of the mountain. We didn't. the view is spectacular.

By Carlos G |

Took the skylift to be on top of the mountain but unfortunately it was a very foggy day, it is a must activity if you visit the park.

By Carol S |

Had an enjoyable ride. The cable car operator had some fun and interesting facts about the mountain.

By Katie |

It is a preferred way to get to the top of the mountain. It is smooth riding and fun when getting to the end of it.

By 423kimberlyn |

Great food friendly staff great variety for all taste . Awesome flooring all done in Canadian pennies it’s in a small town Stoney Mountain Manitoba. It’s been on a tv show you gotta eat here great variety for everyone very nice little place . We went with family my sister lives in Stony Mountain she said it’s always busy great place my late husband really enjoyed it as well as the rest of our group . Strongly recommend this place for those who like great food friendly staff and great atmosphere.

By lynnestwins |

Great experience. But do know that if you go in the summer it is hot. This is a cable car ~ no air conditioning. And another thing ~ if it is busy, they do pack you in. Once on the top of the mountain you can stay as long as you want. It is spectacular!

By vladsuperman2 |

line wasnt that long but better than hicking up the mountian, it's free and great view.the cars can be a bit crowed but get a spot by the window so you can see on the way up and down.

By dvltrucking |

Important tip: When going UP the mountain stay standing/seated on the right side of your Skylift/cable car. This way you can see and take pictures of the 3 Civil War heroes as you ascend Stone Mountain.
Another tip: Don't buy souvenirs at the top of Stone Mountain; wait and buy them later in your visit as there are several other gift shops in the park.

By johnf20162016 |

Suggest riding the cable car. Great views from car. You can walk to the top of Stone Mountain if you want a great hiking workout. Cable car much easier.

By Michelle S |

This was my 3rd trip to Georgia. Each time we tried to go on the tram to the top. There was either weather or it was closed. Granted it was later in the day, so it got pretty busy/crowded in the tram cars. But once you got to the top, it's a pretty awesome view.

By 863candisw |

We had a wonderful time riding the lift and walking on the top of Stone Mountain. We had 10 year old grand-daughter with us and she loved taking pics of the view!

By John S |

I rode up and back with my wife and friends. It was a very nice ride, the conductor gave some very interesting facts and it was a smooth and quiet ride.

By 725michealb |

you can either climb the mtn or take the sky lift to the top. you can see for miles and get a close up view of the civil war carving

By bkkred |

Don't waste a trip to the park - and going without a ride to the summit would definitely be a wasted trip. Going later in the day seemed to eliminate the crowds, so definately think about that.

By WhiteCatWriting |

Brave the lines to ride this Swiss cable car to the top of the mountain. It is a remarkably short ride but you do got a very close up view of the carving. There is very little at the top other than the 360 view. Sunglasses and other sun protection highly recommended. Cold drinks and some snacks available at the summit. Cars hold approx. 80 passengers so expect to be crammed in, especially during peak season. Expect to spend about an hour start to finish.

By DayBreeze |

Short little enclosed gondola ride to top of mountain and back.
Bathrooms, food and drinks are available on top of mountain.

By B F |

I haven't been here since 2009 however, I have such peaceful memories of the gorgeous color in Georgia parks in fall and summer. Sitting in the balmy weather and listening to the wind is a joyous day for me. The experience for anyone afraid of heights should come here or take someone who is angry uncomfortable and allow them to bask in the glory. A pair of blue jeans rolled up, summer shirt with a light cotton cover(if needed) and a fanny pk for change or a water is all that's needed. Just peaceful day wrapping up the heat.

By LN |

The view is magical and worth the climb! Such great exercise and not too challenging for new hikers. Once you are at the top, you feel you have truly accomplished the task!!

By Fiona P |

great views from this lofty venue, wear appropriate footwear as the top has many different tiers to scamper over. Quite breezy so dress according to climate. If you're lucky enough to be situated at the back end of the cable car going up or down you can get a birds eye view of the carvings to take photos, otherwise forget it. They pack you in like sardines.

By PnE |

We want to commend the staff on keeping all riders safe an making them all aware of the rules and hazards of the ride.

EM

By khammock |

We had a great time and went on Thanksgiving Day it wasn’t busy at all! The lines moved so fast the view was extremely pretty still had lots of fall leaves. The ride up and down was fun my kids loved it. I would suggest for sure

By Ed H |

what a ride you can see across Atlanta this is the biggest rock I have ever seen. fun ride worth the money

By Pam R |

This was one of my better trips; Stone Mountain Park has so much to offer! We took the cable car to the top of the mountain and once on top of the mountain walked around this amazing place! You can see for miles and miles! The next time we visit, we will walk down the 1 mile trail to the bottom!

By MsKass |

WOW!! Nature has a great visibility through this cable skylift. It is crazy to see this type of beauty from high above the attraction.

By Arbysims |

This is a huge lump of granite! You can walk/hike up the mountain it's about a mile but I chose this way to conserve my energy and also you do get to see the carving twice - going up and coming down! :-). The windows of the cable car could do with a good wash so you can get a clear picture! The ride doesn't take very long about 3 mins or so, but you do get some great views. At the top of the mountain apart from the great views, there are also little pools with water with tiny creatures, plants growing out of the rock. There is also a restaurant and rest rooms at the top. Be sure to wear proper footwear as the rock can be slippery.

By mick412 |

Skyride gondola is a great way to view the mountain as well as the countryside surrounding the mountain - can even see the Atlanta skyline from the top. Skyride can be purchased separately (not offered on-line unless you purchase the "Attractions Pass.")

By Love2travelthree |

We have been coming to the park since 1980 about every 5 years or so. This last visit was quite a disappointment. The park setting has been taken over by commercialized areas. All those areas have too MANY protect your valuables signs posted for us to trust our car would be ok. I will choose to remember what I knew as the park. I can think of a better way to spend the $15 it costs for a car to get into the park.

By Antonio |

After a nice drive through park Stone Mountain was an amazing view and experience, the Top view of mountain was a great scene. There is refreshments and small trees to seat and relax while enjoying a picnic. Very recommended

By Stephen B |

The ride allows a very unique perspective on the Stone Mountain carving, as well as a live, narrated history of the carving itself. Try for off peak times to visit this, as they do try and pack the car for the trip up and down the mountain.

By Cee Cee |

Enjoy the ride up. Took several photo's of the area. Go every year. One must get the mountain pass, it's worth the money.

By drrosenthal |

I decided to take the cable car to the top of the mountain before viewing the laser show. There was nobody waiting when I got there and was surprised at how long they wait between runs. The ride is smooth going and a decent value for the ride. I chose to walk down the mountain.

By Cheryl C |

I have a horrible fear of heights but the skylight cable cars were very easy for me to do. The staff that operated the cars were great! They made it so much fun for children as well as adults. Even though I couldn't walk to the edge of the mountain, it was a beautiful view from the top!

By Grace C |

It was an amazing day at the park and amazing ride going up, enjoyed the breathtaking view from the top, but when it was our turn to go down, they said that they will be making a few test runs, then after 2 they had said that they have a mechanical problem. So we decided to start to walk down, it took us one hour and 11,900 plus steps in my friends fit bit. But it was not bad, it was an experience and we got to watch the sun set. We were at the bottom of the mountain by 7:30 pm and there was a shuttle that take us to the park, to have dinner and watch the laser show.

By Jenn Adele K |

I took the ride up the mountain because the day was too hot for me to hike... and WOW! Terrific views!

By creole6684 |

Who doesn't enjoy a sky ride? The views going up are nice and fantastic on the top! The operator was engaging and there were workers on the top to answer questions.
This is a must if visiting the park!

By Eileen A |

Really loved this cable car ride to the top of stone mountain. It's about $12 return or you can choose one way ticket and either walk up or walk down. There is a cafe at the top which is convenient. The 360 degree view from the top is quite wonderful.

By Rick B |

being a hiker I would have walked up but my group was older so we rode. The advantage to that is that you get a history of the scope of the carvings. well worth it.

By Carrie D. |

We had a nice ride to the top of Stone Mountain in the Sky Lift Cable Car. We got to Stone Mountain much later in the afternoon than we wanted and knew we didn't have time for the hike up so we took the cable car and it was a great, smooth ride.

We spent a half hour or so walking around the top of the rock and taking in the amazing views. And then we took the cable car back down.

I wish I could remember the name of our cable car driver. He was an awesome kid, full of interesting information and very helpful.

If you're in the Atlanta area, I'd definitely recommend a drive out to Stone Mountain (it's an easy 35 minute drive) and the entire park is gorgeous...the views from the top are one of the best assets!

By Frank C |

We have always loved the cable car ride to the top. Great views on the way up and down. The line to get up and down was kind of long but worth the wait

By BaronFoer |

The ride up was nice although the gondola was absolutely packed. The clock at the start said 10minutes and we were told it was correct it was actually more than 35. Little seating up top but the view was impressive.

By Margolf53 |

The view is spectacular. You can see downtown Atlanta and surrounding areas. It is the only way up and down to the mountain easily unless you want to climb it and that will take you an hour and half same going down.

By Sedrick G |

Luv it! the Skylift takes you up the mountain and down. It operates every 20 minutes. A must see and must do if you’re near Atlanta.

By JCKey |

We were here to visit Snow Mountain and took the lift to the top. it was a crisp and clear day , but surprisingly not too windy. It was really neat to be on top of the mountain and so easy too. The lift swayed only just a bit leaving the stations. It was spacious, seemed safe and stable and also provided an AWESOME view!

By laneys |

On a Saturday, the lines are long: both at the ticket booth and then at an additional line to get onto the cable car. There is only one ticket taker who does everything by hand so the wait is about an hour.

I recommend buying a one-way ticket: take the cable car up if you don't want to hike up the mountain. The descent is about 45 minutes and good exercise! Although there is no sign, you have to leave all strollers down at the bottom if the lift is crowded.

It's great going up and down the sky lift. Although you need to do this when weather is great. Thunderstorms can close this site and you can be stuck up the mountain until they start operating it again. The lift is too crowded that you can't see the carvings on the side of the mountain.

By ready_2_go1986 |

This lift provides amazing views all the way to the top and a tour guide to answer any question you may have.

By Happy Traveler |

The Tram to the top of the mountain is fun. You can take it to the top for $12 and walk down if you like or you can take a round trip for $16.

Great views 360 degrees.

By wdfltrdr |

The sky lift is included with the adventure pass for $29.95 or you can take the lift separately for I think $16. The view from the summit is spectacular. There are 3 cities you can see, one of which is Atlanta. This was the highlight. Don't miss it

By pakkrajewski |

The skylift is a very short ride past the carving in the mountain taking you to the mountain top. The guide gives you a nice description of the carving during the ride. If you don't want the challenge of walking up the mountain yourself (if you aren't athletic you don't want to take this on) you will need to take the skylift in order to get to the mountain top.

By 981keithy |

Definitely a short, fast ride. The view of mountain was amazing. Once on top you can walk around. $15 per person is a little costly just to ride the tram. So just to see some historical sights, a covered bridge, grill mill, tram and parking you are looking at $35.

By bud942018 |

The Stone Mountain cable car was our big draw for the park. I am afraid of hights but I was going to go with my kids. Until we got to the front of the cable car and the said the put 80 plus people in the car. That was way too many people for me so I chose to stay back and take pictures.

By Steven B |

I love waking up and down the Mountain. You can only get a close up view from the cable car. You have to ride at least once for the unique view. We rode it up and hiked down.

By CandyfromCalifornia |

We rode the tram both ways as I have a bad knee. The views were beautiful up and down. I brought walking sticks which really helped walking on the top of Stone Mountain. There are snacks and a gift shop on top of the mountain. You can also hike both ways.

By Brenda P |

Plan for a minimum of an hour. The ride up is fun and a bit exciting.
Lots of great spots to relax soak up days and take pictures. True panorama of Atlanta

By NativeDina |

Ok so I am terrified of heights but I had to do this. The ride itself might be a whole of three minutes (if that) and very smooth. The attendant could tell I was scared so he said when we would swing and when we wouldn't. Gives you a great view of the carving if you can look out - which I did on the ride down. Once on top there is a building if you want to view from inside a secure site or walk out to the edge. I didn't do that but I did walk outside and sat next to a tree.

By redtruckie |

Let handicapped on 1st. Great views easy ride. Was very knowledgeable about park and the carving. Great history.

By 2fromWi |

The tram is wonderful but to really get the feel of the mountain, take the foot trail. Unbelievable experience! It is a mile to the top by trail and you can walk up and down or take the sky lift one way.

By John A |

What a waste of money just pay for parking and lift. It's a real tourist trap. We bought package and nothing was open the scenic train supposed to run at 11am was delayed till 2pm. Crazy prices for food and drinks

By Bob M |

If you walk it is a good mile up, and steep at times. No pets and don't go if it has just rained (slippery). The Skylift runs $12.50 one way. Some people walk up and ride down. There is a place at the top to purchase refreshments while you look around at the incredible scene.

The geological wonder provides the best views in the area. Our kids (11,4) so enjoyed the ride up as well as the top of the mountain. We timed our trip for the best weather to see the sunset and surrounding areas. Seeing Atlanta to the west and the foothills of the Appalachians to the north is truly something I won’t forget. This is a must do!

By AhmedElghonemy |

cale cars and staff are well organized and care about guests safety and put it as first priority. lines are bit long so I recommend VIP passes which will see lot of times specially for families. the top has spectacular view of the area and great for viewing , picture's background

By 86MissyJ |

Neat experience to get "up close" with the carvings. Neat overlook once you get to the top! We went early in the morning, to avoid the large crowds. Well worth seeing when visiting the park.

By WonPaul |

You have to pay to go on the skylift but I would say it was worth it. The view from the top of the Stone Mountain was amazing and you are able to walk around at the top.

By michaelsE3409GW |

Stone Mountain Park was a nice day excursion. A bit pricey for what we actually did. The skyride to the top was pleasant and the kids enjoyed seeing everything from the top. Staff were all very nice and knowledgeable. There isn’t too much to see around the base of Stone Mountain when you ride the train.

By JTMoore1014 |

Kid loved going to top of mountain. Be prepared to walk and get your exercise. Excellent views! Lots of photo opportunities!!! Glad we went while weather was cool.

By MaeRodgers |

To get the full effect of how big the mountain is you must go to the top. The ride up is fun and not scary and I have a fear of heights. When you get to the top it is a cool experience to walk out on the mountain and see the views of the whole city. You can see for miles, especially if you bring binoculars.

By foreverart |

On a good day, the view is nice. It isn't anything special. It's just a ski lift ride. I would consider it dangerous with little ones.

By Barbara A |

Typically I’m afraid of heights , but the sky ride
Are me feel at ease and was worth the trip to the top of the mountain. The attendant was very nice and gave us some fun facts about the mountain and the area.

By GoingFarFarAway |

If you come to Stone Mountain you have to take the cable car to the top. We saw many people hiking up the mountain but they seemed really tired by the time they got to the top. Recommend the cable car ride unless you are very fit.

By MaryKop |

The day we visited, the weather was a little iffy, so instead of the mile-long hike to the top, we chose to pay for the Skylift ride. It was actually kind of fun!
The guides gave a couple of brief tidbits about the history of the carving, and then a warning for a couple of bumps in the ride--which were really kind of cool--and we're familiar with gondolas as we're skiers. Worth the ride.
There are other attractions at the base of the mountain that you can purchase a pass for--if you're going to be in the area for the whole day, you might check out package deals.
And we read the hints--you want to be at the front of the car going up, and the back of the car going down for the best photos opportunities.

By sukieakie |

Nice ride up to the top of Stone Mountain, but its fast and crowded, making it sumwhat hard to get a good picture of the carving.

By oceanquest33 |

There are many things to do at Stone Mountain, and a climb or cable ride to the top is well worth the trip. Cable Ride parking location is in different area than then Walk/climb. So if you plan to ride up the mountain and walk down, make some arrangement to get back to the parking lot

By julilee93 |

This is a fun, engaging way to see the monument up close, and there is even an exciting little "jolt" at the end. The car has few seats, so you may be standing, even with small children. It may be hard for little ones to see the monument as you ascend, but it is a lovely view. They pack the car down, so this is not for the shy person. You can walk around on the mountain, which is lovely.

By JRDurden |

If ever anywhere near Stone Mountain I’d say it’s a must but when coupled with the Christmas parade, tree lighting & laser show the experience is elevated a ton. The trolly ride to the top is only about 2 minutes & I highly recommend going while the sun is shining or right as dusk for some truly breathtaking views. On this particular day we could see the city of Atlanta. Prices are relatively cheap & please opt for the “V.I.P” option to ensure you don’t have to endure the long lines.

By Bob Dean |

Top of a really big rock - 600 feet above the Atlanta sky line - 360 degree view of the surrounding area. You can walk up but my suggestion is take the tram up and hike down the mountain - a very easy hike, wear the right shoes.

By fancypants2014 |

The only good thing about this is that after climbing up the mountain in 94 degree heat o got to ride down. Very crowded so couldn't see the carving out of the window because of people in front of me.

By JJCupp |

My husband and I went for our second year anniversary. We tried to climb the mountain which was a mistake!!! It's not easy... If you try it, please make sure you have proper shoes and water. We did ride the cable car back down. It's a very short ride.. Which you have to pay for. They have different things to do and see. We stayed for the laser show which was not that impressive. Elvis singing Dixie land was the best part of it..

By Geoff H |

Certainly the quickest and easiest way of getting to the top of Stone Mountain is by the Summit Skyride (or, to give it its correct name, the Stone Mountain Aerial Tramway) and it is well worth the cost. The day we went, in October, there were no queues and the carriages were not too full, although I would think that it would be a different story in summer. The ride was smooth enough, with good views all around, at, at the top, there's an exhibtion with information about the mountain. If you miss the carvings on the way up, stand on the right on the way down and then you will get a good view.

By LouisePearce |

We visited here on the off chance as we had seen some friends has been here previously. Unfortunately we arrived on the first day of the maintenance closure so could not use the Skyride but even without that it is an amazing thing to see. The mountain itself, the carving, the history and the grounds too. So much to take in, a beautiful landscape and a walkers paradise.

By grocksmom |

We took the ride to the top of Stone Mountain. The ride was very short and nice. Once you get to the top you can see all around and explore the view.

By Cathrose864 |

Great smooth ride up to the top of the Mountain. So glad we took it to go up on top and see the view of Downtown Atlanta and the region. Go early in the day as the services on top close early. Wonderful views of the carving.

By Kevin B |

A little pricing but unless you like to hike up to the top it is still a must ride for any visitor to the park. The view is awesome and if you stay on the right side of the cable car, you can take awesome pictures of the sculptures in the mountain both on the way up and on the way down.

By Christina B |

Awesome ride up & back. Very close up views of the carving. We had no lines. Easy on and off. Walked around the top of Stone Mtn. Very nice.

By Kristy M |

We decided to take our 4 year old up the mountain on the Skylift because she has a hard time walking and her balance is off. The crew was amazing and the run every 10-15 minutes.

Our last time riding the ride for our trip that day, we had to wait a few minutes because of a wind warning. They didn't want the tram swaying back and forth. I love how prepared they were for simple stuff like the wind.

The only downfall is; is that I don't like that the workers take precedence over guests on the trams.

By Bob P |

you can see for mile, Atlanta to buckhead. hard to believe its a solid rock. the kids loved it. try the walk up

By Roderick G |

There are only two (2) cars, one goes up while the other comes down at the same time. They do move quickly. Also, the cars hold lot of people at the same time.

By Luna M |

My knee was out, so the beau and I decided we'd take the lyft up to the top. We barely waited any time, less than 10 minutes, and boarded. Once inside, we were able to be seated and enjoy the ride up.

The autumn is gorgeous up here in Stone Mountain, and the colors are just changing, so the view was incredible. Everyone got a little thrill as we hit the tower and the car lurched a bit.

We were told to mind the gap as we stepped out of the car and into the waiting platform and gift shop to the top of Stone Mountain.

By Lynn M |

We had a free afternoon and decided to visit Stone Mountain. The cable car was worth the money, since we were pressed for time. It was a great way to see the carving and the summit of the mountain

By John G |

Very cool spot, you can see downtown Atlanta 20 miles away, exciting ride up and down, walk around the whole top for a 360 view

By Sundncr |

The big stone looked impressive from the ground and I decided to use the Skyride. On a Sunday afternoon, the lines were not that long. You should purchase the roundtrip option as it will be a long walk down the mountain.

The attendants were efficient in guiding tourists into the skyride. There is a VIP option too. There are two skyrides that operate and cross each other on the way.

You can see the Stone Mountain Carving on the way.

There is a museum at the entrance to the Skyride to purchase souvenirs.

If you suffer from heights, I would not recommend this ride as you do look down thousands of feet to the ground.

By blk v |

You can most certainly hike the mountain if you want...and that has it's own rewards...
However, of you want to see the grand scale of the carving and the mountain...the skylift is the only way to go... in less than 3 min your at the top.

By Flizzer |

I was surprised how disinterested the employees were in their cargo. Both staff members just got off and left an old guy w his wife in a w/c on the tram. No info given at all. Except “we,ll be departing in a minute.”

By Cindy B |

The ride to the top was great, skyline attendant was very knowledgeable about the mountain, and carving.

By 409gingerg |

Definitely a great a must if you are at Stone Mountain. Amazing views from the top. Trip up gives you a great view of the relief.

By Ken R |

The line moved quickly, the ride was smooth, both up and down. I was able to enjoy the top of the mountain with this feature.

By Douglas N |

We were last at stone mountain some 20 years ago when my kids were very young. My son and I went up on the sky lift way back then. So this time I talked my wife into going up. We had fun. Some things are fun no matter how many times you do it.

By Kate N |

The ride up and down is amazing, but the highlight is walking on the rock at the top. The views are amazing. I just wish that the skyride had some air circulating. We were there on a 95 degree day and it was hot in the car when they cram so many in.

By johnsoutham |

Absolutely fabolous views going up the mountain and at the top . Seems to be surrounded by forests . Told a very informative story about the sculptures in the mountain and the battle for Atlanta ( This was in the museum )

By Precept123 |

We lucked out and got on first going up and coming back down. We did not realize how fast the car moves, so it is a short ride. Great view of the carving. We watched some men repel down to work on the carving.

By orlandobop54 |

You really get a close up view of the carving. It was awesome to walk around the top of the mountain. The view of the surrounding area was cool too!

By Jodie S |

The line to get on a cable car was quiet long but we are glad we waited and made it to the top... what a view!

We spent half an hour walking around stone mountain and sitting for a while to just take in the sights.

By Shawn Angela W |

The main reason I wanted to go here with the ride this thing and it was down so super disappointed over this.

By Ashleigh P |

Without buying a family attractions wrist band for $30 the price of SkyLift tickets alone are high, but it is well worth purchasing for people who can't hike up and down the mountain for free. The view from uptop is beautiful and your operator on the SkyLift gives a brief history of the carving on Stone Mountain. If you are able to hike up and down the mountain, I would recommend hiking instead of the Skylift. The hike is only a mile long. It is a wide, beaten path with crowds of people that hike up and down. So it is perfectly safe and secure. The path gets a little steep towards the top but there are hand rails at that point if you don't feel comfortable.

By Mike O |

This is an awesome ride to the top of Stone Mountain. Smooth ride, informative as well if you get the driver that actually knows the history..

By David B |

Great views of the mountain and surrounding areas. Up on top you can walk around and explore this freak of nature where small pools of water actually contain a type of freshwater shrimp. Strange flowers grow from the cracks and deformed trees grow from weak vantage points. A wonder to behold!

By donna p |

I am extremely scared of heights and anything that takes me off the ground but I have to say, this was a great ride. The operators are well informed and even told me about when there last safety check was done on their cables. Once you leave the station either way, you have a wonderful view of the surrounding areas. You also get a very up close view of the carving. The cars are huge and can hold a lot of people. There is limited seating but the ride is short.

By mannnw |

This of every thing in the park was th he best ride, relaxing, and view at the top really a site to see....very cold late December but a hot chocolate hit the spot while waiting to go back down the mountain...take the family or kids a must do.

By Omni F |

I'll be honest -- when I read it cost $15 just to park at Stone Mountain Park, I almost didn't go. But then I figured the Parks Department could use all the financial help they could get. And I'm glad I went!
I spent the entire day at the park and didn't see everything. I purchased a round trip ticket for the sky lift, but I suggest you think twice about this additional purchase. The ride is very short; possibly only 2 minutes. I rode the tram up but walked down the mountain. It is a relatively easy walk down, and if you have bad knees, wall along the path instead of walking directly on the granite.
Also, stop into the Education Center. They offer a short film (maybe only 11 min. long) about the carvers of the monument. Very interesting!
The park is definitely worth the parking fee.

By Malissa S |

Taking the lift to the top of the mountain is fantastic. Can get a great view of the mountain and everything below. And the view at the top is unbeatable.

By Leigh M |

The cable car goes to the top of the mountain quickly so it is the easiest way to reach the top and well worth going. It is a little bumpy near the top but not scary. You get a great close up view of the carving on the ascent.

By Sunshinelife |

I would recommend hiking one of the ways, for the experience. The line moved along quickly. The employees were funny and friendly. It was stunning to see this all. The car felt very safe and was not overcrowded. I loved the many windows.

By ExpoNationals |

The Summit Skyride is one of the attractions at Stone Mountain Park in Georgia. It is a high speed Swiss cable car that takes passengers to the top of Stone Mountain and back again. It really is a very quick ride. Views are cool.

If you do not have the time or physical ability to hike up to the top of Stone Mountain, then take a ride on the Summit Skyride. It is included with an Attractions ticket to Stone Mountain or you can purchase it for the ride only.

The views of the Appalachian Mountains and the Atlanta Skyline are beautiful from the top of Stone Mountain. I recommend taking the Summit Skyride to get to the top. Hopefully, the weather will be cooperative. The ride is subject to closure if the weather is bad.

By Bbqman3341 |

its quite scenic ride up to the top and much faster than hiking to see the same views. why walk when you can ride?

By Forrest H |

You can take the cable car up, or you can hike up from the East most part of the mountain. Either way, the views from the top are AMAZING. Be Safe, there's fencing, but every year someone jumps over the fences and falls off the mountain.

By Sonworshipper |

We visited on Christmas Eve so the crowd was large but we still enjoyed the park immensely. We got a gorgeous, warm & sunny day for December and it made it really nice for enjoying the sky ride and walking at the top of the mountain. The stone face carving looks so much smaller than I remember it from previous visits and was nice to see closer up from the sky ride. The line was long but with two cars running, the wait wasn't too long...maybe about 1/2 hour. Was a bit windy at the top but very nice to enjoy our time up there. My hubby even found a Geo-cache on top! Worst complaint was that the drink machines were NOT kept filled and working...MANY of the drink choices were empty and patrons were NOT happy as many were looking to refill their purchased drink bottles after trapsing around the mountain top in the sun. The park management needs to do a MUCH better job at this. If they are going to charge a high price for refillable cups...then the machines should be kept filled at all times! Otherwise, we enjoyed the experience.

By Camiam |

Very disappointed to find that after paying to get in and walking straight to this attraction, it had been shut down due to storms 7 miles away. No warning at ticket booth. Never did reopen for the day. What a ripoff!

By Emily Q |

this was awesome, well worth the $20. the mountain was amazing. 10/10. the sky ride was pretty scary not ganna lie

By kart1907 |

The cable car is big, spacious and gives you little thrill if you are scared of heights. It's $12 for the round trip and $8 for one way. I took one way to reach the top and did a hiking while coming down. Lot of breath taking views both on the top as well as climbing down. It was close to a mile and a half walk where it ends near to walking trail parking lot. The adventure pass as advertised more on the Stone Mountain website is not required if you are in Stone Mountain just for the cable car. Most of the attractions are open to all. A daily parking fee of $15 is charged at the gate. Worthy enough to spend 3 to 4 hours.

By Toni K |

It's the quickest way to the top! Can't be more than 6-8 minutes. We had a family member who is terrified of heights and was scared the whole time, but the ride was smooth with no jarring. We also had two small children with us and there was no problem feeling safe within the car and having them with us there. The ride gives you a beautiful view of the mountain carving up close. The car operator had plenty of useful information like bus stops and schedules from The Sky Ride and information about the upcoming events and times later that night.

By shamr0ck01 |

Great way to see the Mountain up close! Wasn't too scary and you can see the whole park! You can either ride back down or you can walk down the mountain.

By Hspringer1 |

My family really enjoyed the skylift! They loved getting to walk out and enjoy the view from so high up. Their are snacks and a gift shop at the top too!

By gatorhoosier |

The skyride was one of the best parts of the park. You can hike up and down the mountain, but why bother?

By Myles313 |

We stopped by for a little bit, this was our first time visiting the park and there seemed to be renovations under way but the SkyLift was operating and it was great. Even our 8 month old had a blast up on the top as the weather was windy. That alone was worth the park admission fee. We’d definitely come back.

By Joyce S |

Very enjoyable. Smooth, not scary. Once ar the top you can get off and take as much time as you'd like to enjoy the scenery. There are food/snack vendors there if you need it. We brought a snack and ate enjoying the view. I personally, along with our grandchildren thought this was the best park of the park experience.

By bsmbudy |

The lift makes it a quick trip to the top...of Stone Mountain! You could always hike up via the trail but if you are not up to the task the lift will take you up. Hope you aren't afraid of heights! The view is amazing.

By Nimisha P |

This is for people who cannot clime up the mountain, and only want to see views for the carving. It was good service.

By Sherri O |

These arm bands are the most ridiculous things ever! They are way too large and the manner in which they fasten is just plain dumb!! Why on earth do they need to be this large and why on earth do they need to have a plastic back that makes them stick to you in the heat!! Also they are barely big enough around to fit a full grown man!!! Not happy with this method of entry ticket!!

By hummyJ |

If you can’t walk up the mountain, this is a must. The ride was short and easy. The views from the top are awesome.

By Francis X R |

We took it up and down the mountain, you can also walk both ways or walk one and ride the other way. The fee for round trip was $15.00 per person, a one way ride was $12.00. There are various spots at the top to see the local area and you can get a small snack up there. You get to see the carving in the mountain as you go up and down. You have free time at the top which was nice.
