Soak up the Sun

By Deborah T |

Wow!!! I haven't been to Sunset Beach in over five years and was pleasantly surprised to see it looked more beautiful and bigger than when I last visited!!!! The water wasn't very inviting to me, in particular, but people did go in and play and cool off. It seems to be very popular... People of all ages were sunbathing and just enjoying what nature has to offer. More parking is always a plus. That's new!!! They have a beverage vending machine too, just in case you stay longer than you were planning!! It may just happen when you're at such a peaceful place. Bring your lunch and enjoy it in one of the many pavilions they have to offer...All Free....

Beautiful white sand beaches

By Patriklise |

Long stretches of beautiful beach with powder blue ocean
Clean well kept and maintained
Parking available nearby great for picnic or sunbathing

Beautiful at dusk

By ec0bb |

I like it here because you can sit with your feet in the water all day. Places to picnic, close parking and public restrooms.

Luis 61- el guapo

By Melanie D |

My son and his fiancé came to sunset beach during the weekend when we couldn’t tour the different wedding venues. Luis 61 took us to the three places on resort we were curious about, no questions asked. He was such a wonderful host and spokesperson for the whole resort! Thank you Luis!

Lovely beach

By MARY K |

Nice soft powder sand, just enough stretch of beach. Feels very private and relaxing. Nice place to have a picnic.

Parrots

By Tracy W |

Gorgeous. So glad we stopped here. Quiet beautiful waters. There were dozens of parrots in the trees!

Go to the next beach - Howard Park.

By EASYNOVV |

The place is good, but only if you haven't been to the nearest beach called Howard Park Beach, that is much way better.

Disappointing Visit

By Evelyn R |

The water was stagnant and we didnt find any waves to move the water. Nice showers outdoors to cool you off. Good picnic tables under awnings though. Clean restrooms.

Perfect for Sunset

By russ |

This tiny little beach is so gorgeous. If you're a tourist this is where the locals watch the sunset 365 days a year. Beautiful, Serene, cute, quaint.

Incredible views

By bnj728 |

Easy to find when in Tarpon you can drive, walk or ride your bike here. Small beach but incredible views of the sunset every night weather permitting. Gets busy so get there a little early if driving as the lot fills up. Occasional entertainment at the small bandshell.

By T2115VMkimberlyc |

This beach is small and filled with locals, includes a boat ramp and is where to go for amazing sunsets

Sunset Spot

By Emily |

Beautiful place to watch the sunset however not a “beach”. The “sand” was like muck. There are playgrounds and areas to sit.

Local spot

By Jessica K |

We love Sunset Beach. Small, clean and generally not overly crowded. Free parking is also a plus. Locals come here to view the sunset and relax, away from the more crowded, popular beaches of Fred Howard or Clearwater. They also have live music on certain Thursdays. There is a small playground and a couple of shelters, as well as areas to launch kayaks or canoes.

Boat drop off has been dredged

By Jewel D |

Free concerts on the beach the first Thursday of each month.
Boat ramp has been enlarged and the canal was deepened. New cement drive put in.
No charge for parking is the best ever secret! New shower heads and sand wash off stations were added also.

Amazing Sunset!!!

By Peter A |

What a great beach to watch the Sunset. It was absolutely amazing. It is free to enter and park. Don’t miss it if in tarpon Springs. It’s a must see!!!

Great Secret Find

By Dianapipana |

We live super close to this beach. Love to bring the grandkids to play on the pirate ship playground then walk over to the beach which is very small but very well put together with benches, walkways, water sources for clean up and restrooms. Nice to know Beach Day can be any day!

Lovely Beach

By Krista V |

This beach is small but very nice. We has so much fun here. The beach is free to get in. They have a playground for children. The water is calm and quiet. Many people were out on kayaks and they looked to be having a great time. We found some hermit crabs and some fish. There are restrooms on site, along with picnic tables and a covered area to get out of the sun.

A Beautiful View!

By jimmo620 |

Went to watch the sunset, which in summer is further north than optimal, because the sun sets over one of the coastal islands instead of straight out over the water, but it was still spectacular. Hope to return in winter or fall when it sets further south. The facilities were great and very accessible. No charge to visit.

Awesome views

By RobbinJim |

This beach was very relaxing, great views and social distancing was being followed. Very clean, washrooms were clean and the area was inviting. Awesome day at the beach

Favorite Beach

By Diana M |

Our favorite beach out of all the local options. It has a nice walkway out, public restrooms, and a wash off station. Limited free parking, but there’s a huge lot next door where you can park all day for $8.

Secluded and private and wonderful

By Deb H |

Took my sister from Buffalo here and she loved it! It was very quiet and it felt like our own private beach spot. It’s not the best spot for swimming but ok for wading and cooling off but to just sun and read and relax it’s perfect!!!

Lovely place!

By Karin B |

Great place to enjoy the sunset!☺
No costs and enough space to park!
Also tables to have a picnic available.

This a cool little beach

By Frank B |

This little beach has a ramp for boat launch and a great beach area. This is also a beach that has concerts and is a great place to relax. Small but nice.

Small but nice

By Terry T |

This is a nice beach option for viewing a sunset or sitting on the beach. Free parking and bathroom facilities. There are benches and picnic pavilion.

It Is What It's Called

By steve y |

If you are looking to spend a day basking in the sun on a large, sprawling white sand beach, this is not the place.
It is very small, ants & sand fleas biting feet & ankles. Restroom fairly clean. Rocks along the shoreline as well as in knee deep water. Need to watch were your walking. Hard on the bottom of feet.
Excellent area to view spectacular sunsets!

Had the beach to ourselves!

By jaybeeFL |

Sunset Beach was virtually vacant of beachgoers when we arrived with grandkids in tow. They had the place to themselves so were able to have a quiet time wading, building sand castles, having fun on the small playground... Parking was easy, access was on a well maintained causeway and marine life was readily visible (dolphins, marine birds...). Being on the intracoastal provides some protection from wave action which is important when you have young ones in the water. Great place to spend an afternoon.

Beautilful Setting

By Beth R |

This is a great beach near downtown Tarpon Springs. The sand is white and powdery, just a lovely spot to soak in the sun.

Nice little hidden jem

By Les K |

Most people dont know about this place. Its a nice little beach. You can bbq here. You can fish here. Relax and soak up some sun. Water is clean and clear. You have a good view of fred howard park. Very impressed with the place.

Beautiful small beach

By Marc Griffith |

I really enjoy Sunset Beach. Location is close to me, plenty of free parking, and it is very clean. Take a bag lunch or dinner and watch the sunset! Always a good, relaxing thing to do!

Wedding at sunset

By SGG2013 |

We went to watch the sunset one evening and caught the end of a beach wedding. It`s a lovely beach and worth the drive to watch the sunset.

Loved it

By Yazz |

It is family friendly, free, peaceful and beautiful. The beach area is small. They have facilities. Do not depend on the vending machines.. you will starve. There are covered picnic tables, walking path... just loved it.

Lots of space and beautiful sunset

By Scott K |

This is a state park with lots of parking and room to roam. There are many late rocks. Watch your step. I with went for done metal detecting. The Ranger told me detecting is allowed just not on the dunes. It was a good time but the rocks ad an extra challenge. The sunset was stunning. The park closes shortly after. There are places for food and public bathrooms.

A pretty little park and beach at the end of a peninsula

By Ann H |

We enjoyed a quiet walk on the beach and some birding. The view was pretty but I imagine it would get very crowded in the warmer weather, it was about 60 today.

Nice visit

By OnAir756465 |

Interesting with great restaurant choices. Unique local shops with friendly service. Rusty Bellies restaurant is a must

Great city beach

By Bill N |

Free parking and beach is right at the edge of the lot. We have a condo within walking distance and go here often.

Hidden Gem

By Retirers1950 |

Stay on Sunset Beach-quiet end of town-next to St Petersburg Florida. It’s off the beaten track-away from all the noise and bars of Treasure Island, but if that’s what you like it’s only 5 minutes away. It is set between the Gulf and a canal. The sand is Shelly but you can work your way to the water

Locals beach, barely

By D D |

Sunset beach is very small, lots of grass & boulder edged waterline. This seems a locals hang out for the over 40-60 crowd in b-y-o chairs. There is covered table area, but lots of birds. Not sure they would let you eat your food in peace. Pros: a help yourself library, free parking

Beautiful Place To View The Sunset

By Paladintgk |

Sunset beach is a wonderful place to go to enjoy perfect Florida sunset. It is free but it is a very minimal beach, not really good for swimming, snorkeling, etc. There are numerous picnic benches, bathrooms are available and there are often concerts in the small gazebo. The park is free but closes at sunset. It is easy to get in and out of and it does have a small boat ramp. This is not a glamorous beach but it is a perfect place to take your beach chair, a picnic for dinner and to enjoy watching the sun setting into the Gulf of Mexico.

Nice

By jalyssa m |

Very nice clean beach also has a small playground for kids only thing i wish it had was a place for purchasing food and drinks

Nice but Howard is better

By Ck M |

Nice beach but Howard is a little nicer and less crowded. It's nice for a free beach but it's worth spending $5 to go to Howard. This beach has tons of rocks and sea grass making it slimmy in the water.

First time here! we watched the sunset!

By Selina P |

Was a small but beautiful park! there are shelters for shade or picinis! the sunset was just beautiful! We also saw dolphins!!!!!!!!! was a great park free parking as well!

A stunning view of the coast

By Alan M |

This was our second visit to Sunset Beach. We went on a Sunday afternoon after lunch at Rusty Bellies in Tarpon Springs. We took our Son and Daughter in law from Michigan. The Park was full, but we found a parking place in a grassy area not intended for parking but several other vehicles were doing the same. There is no charge here. The views from several angles were simply awesome. We didn't stay for the sunset, but would be the perfect place. You have to see it to appreciate this location that extends prett far out into the gulf with water on all 3 sides,

Super spot for going barefoot

By cloudstuff |

Lovely location at this time of year to have a splash in the Gulf and watch all fish and birds doing their thing. Good parking nearly right on the beach ($5) very clean and well maintained restrooms and outside showers to rinse off the sand. Great end to a visit to Tarpon Springs!

Gorgeous site for sunset

By Coral G |

Sunset Beach is appropriately named. It is a small park-like beach. Once monthly there is a band concert held here. Cars are parked everywhere. People bring their chairs and listen to the music. There are also areas where you can cook your hamburgers, etc. Kids play volleyballs here, too. There are modern bathrooms. The beach is out on a point. On the left side of the beach is an area where boaters can place their boats into the water. I've seen beautiful kites here, as well as sailboats and water scooters. As sunset approaches, cars begin to arrive. People line the beach to watch the beautiful sunset.

Relaxing

By Liz |

It's a small beach, somewhat hidden out of the way. Parking is free and you definitely can sit on the sand (a narrow strip of sand), and just watch the world go by!

Sunsets abound

By ageraldX |

It's a small park, as it says good for sunsets, nice for birnging a chair and a book
There are covered eating areas, but they are usually taken early by families
Not really a swimming area I would recommend,

Unexpected gem

By beed_ee77 |

If you are looking for a smaller beach this is the spot. As the name eludes, the sunsets here are amazing. Great area for kids as well as long as having a nice picnic area. This is a great beach to go to if you are looking for some breathing room.

Perfect for Sunset

By MermaidKu |

This park is aptly named. It is an amazing place to take in a Florida sunset. Panoramic views are beautiful. The park is clean and nice with ample picnic tables. Bring your boat, paddle board or kayak. It’s so easy to launch from here. The beach is really not great for swimming. But it’s good for sitting your chair on or in the water to keep cool. The shallow calm water is fine for little kids to play in. I suggest water shoes as the shore tends to be rocky.

Small and interesting

By Larry K |

Being used to the spacious beautiful beaches of the east coast of Florida. I visited this beach as I viewed the area.
This is a cute small family local beach.

Love it bring your chair and watch the sunset boat ramp under construction I'm not sure how this will effect the water

By JCC6260 |

Nice area to enjoy the sunset and or have a cook out enjoy a day with the family there is currently a boat ramp under construction hoping this doesn't effect the quality of the water as this is an amazing location

Luis 61 :)

By Parker D |

My fiancé and I came to sunset beach during the weekend when we couldn’t tour the different wedding venues. Luis 61 took us to the three places on resort we were curious about, no questions asked. He was such a wonderful host and spokesperson for the whole resort! Thank you Luis!

Nice Little Beach

By Penzilart |

Bicycled from Palm Harbor to Sunset Beach, nice ride. Beach is very cool almost like a small island attached by a causeway. Quite a few sheltered area areas for picnics, number of benches located around beach for observing the view. Noticed a person snorkeling and fishing was apparently very popular. Very nice small park, would imagine that it could get quite crowded on weekends and holidays. Only down side was that dogs were not allowed, so leave fido at home.

I wish I could say something nice

By PaulDav23 |

It was a big disappointment when we got there and say the beach covered with all that sea weed. We didn’t enjoy the water either. It was all a mess. Apparently this beach is on the bay where the sea weed grows. If you can avoid the bay and go to the beaches on the golf. You’ll be better off. Honeymoon beach is close by and beautiful.

Relaxing

By tropicale57 |

Small but a beautiful beach in Tarpon Springs. Quiet and peaceful. A few picnic tables. Restrooms are available.

Gorgeous Beach and Concert Venue

By belindasv |

I have attended several events here. The beach is pristine, has ample parking and ideal sunset concert venue.

Beach

By diane M |

Beautiful beach!!! Has a lot of things going on. Thurs they have movies. If you want to watch kite riding in ...it's great!! It's a family friendly place. They have grills to us. Rest rooms are clean. Love this place!!

Bad beach, nice wildlife.

By Jon C |

This is NOT A BEACH.

There was a lot of cool sea life I found in knee deep water nearby.
Blue Crab
Rock Crab
Dolphin playing with its food (unlucky fish)

Again, NOT really a Beach but could be fun. I would NEVER let children swim here!!!

Sunset Beach

By tropicale57 |

Small but very clean beach including bathrooms and picnicking areas. Has a playground for the kids and a boat launching area.

Beautiful

By Kathy C |

Great concerts the first Thursday of the month. Great place to sit and relax with a front row seat to awesome sunsets.

Nice place to see the sunset

How to Enjoy Sunset Beach

By Gabe10101 |

This review is easy! Sunset Beach is easy to access, free, and attractive. It's hard to take a bad photo here. Parking was available on a December evening when we visited, but I suspect the limited number of spaces fill up many days and evenings. There is a picnic shelter, bathrooms and showers, but no food is available. There is no swimming beach to speak of and almost no sand, so don't bring the kids here expecting a day at the beach. What Sunset Beach is good for is relaxing by the calm waters, having a picnic, and viewing the namesake sunsets. Plus it's away from the popular and crowded regional beaches. Enjoy.

Small beach.

By Allie W |

The beach was much smaller than expected but my 3 year old daughter enjoyed walking in the water and looking at all the different rocks. Very close to outdoor shower and bathroom area. Also there is a very nice playground close by.

Beautiful beach to watch a beautiful sunset

By treeface |

Nice secluded beach close to Tarpon Springs. Free parking and no admission fee to the beach. We took some beautiful photos of the sun setting. It wasn't hot when we visited, but if it had been, there were some trees there which you could sit under.

Small but quaint beach

By aggsys |

We went during mid morning and not sunset but it is free and a nice place to take children because parking is very close to the beach and the water was shallow and calm. Pretty spot for yoga too and there were a few doing yoga when we arrived.

Small but free Gulf park

By Neil S |

As you can tell from its name, it is western facing, a place to see sunsets. There are some benches and small pavilions, a boat ramp and restrooms. Not a true swimming beach.

Easy to get there by Google maps- you have to wind your way around the big lagoon here. Not really a big deal though.

Enjoy a daytime breeze or a sunset.

It’s a Beach...5 dollars to park!!

By Clive R |

With so many amazing beaches around this amazing area why would you pay to visit a beach?

Ok you have to drive over a causeway to get here but it’s no different from other local beaches.

Do yourselves a favour and park for free elsewhere and enjoy the same!!

Great Place to Spend the Day

By Ginny0871 |

Free but limited parking. Open dawn to dusk. Boat launch currently closed. Places for covered picnicking. Gravel parking spaces and roadway so u need shoes. Beach a bit small but adequate. No concessions but restroom facilities. Limited security patrol. Would bring children to Howard Park.

Quiet lovely Beach on the tip of the Gulf

By Kim C |

This is a state park free to enter and closes after the sun goes down. You might get to see the dolphins go by like we did. There is a family picnic area and boat lanching free of charge, also pavillans and BQ ,s to use and a library to exchange books for free.washrooms also here and change rooms.Check it out off 19 hwy in Tarpon Springs on GULF RD. by Howard Park.Donot feed the seagulls or look out.

Such a beautiful beach!

By Jennifer D |

The water is much warmer at this beach! Gorgeous sand, lots of "treasure" for kids to find like shells and sand crabs. It's located on a peninsula so there's almost 360 degrees of access. Parking is $5 just to warn you. This has been one of my favorite beaches since I was a little kid and never fails to impress me when we visit. At the base of the beach are trails and a park with structures for kids to play and picnic areas. Stunning beach!

The beach and the rain.

By 360Rocket |

Clean park, good parking but it would be nice to have a shower head to rinse the sand off before getting in the car. They used to at least have a low mounted water source but now it has a lock on it. Please have some amenities for your guests. The bathrooms are usually in pit shape as well, is there and maintenance? The atmosphere is really nice and the American flag posted is awesome! Give us a standup shower head to rinse please.

Gulf of Mexico water at this area is "like bath water"

By Janis H-P |

Tom's daughter and granddaughter who were visiting from Wisconsin wanted to wade in The Gulf of Mexico so we took them to Sunset Beach. Upon entering the water Vicki said "It's warm...like bath water". We all had a memorable time wading in the clear, warm water under Florida's blue blue sky. Beautiful, sandy beach where families were playing, kids were running, laughing and throwing a beach ball to each other in the shallow water. What a pleasant site.

Local Favourite

By cdapanda |

Unlike other great spots for viewing the sunset, Sunset Beach is free! Go early to get parking. This seems to be a popular spot for locals and tourists. You will see people lighting Taiwanese lanterns and alighting them in the sky. Others are flying kites. One girl sets up a hammock. Some are combing the beach. And still more are chatting in groups. Others are out for a stroll. While some are setting up for the perfect shot of the sunset.

But when the sun starts to set, there is a hush and then a cheer erupts. The cacophony begins again as people head off to their respective lives doing whatever they were doing before taking a moment to take in a beautiful sight.

Sunsets at sunset Beach Tarpon Springs

By Ken S |

This is my favorite place, and believe me I have been many places and many beaches. This is a free parking nature beach, raw unglamorized but genuine natural beauty. Includes a boat launch site, bathrooms and a perfect westerly view for sunsets. I have seen many sunsets but these ones even top 7 mile Beach in the Cayman Islands from which we just returned. Tonite I just came back from a free jazz concert held there at the very nice shelter stage on the west end. On cool nights the city lights a huge bonfire there. My wife and I along with many snowbird friends hold worship nights here before sunset and we stay together until way after dark. It is a great place for kite boarding, kayaking, paddle boarding and launching out into the ocean , to find all the local islands. You can notice Honeymoon Island to the south 10 miles, or Three Rookers Islands straight out to the west a few miles, or even Anclote island with the lighthouse visible to the North. My wife and I did our photo shoot for our CD release,' Lord of All' (Ken and Debrah Smith) here at sunset one evening. Very appropriate scenery for a tribute to our Creator, as people gather here every evening 365 days a year to watch the amazing orange sunsets, hence the name, Sunset Beach . Tarpon Springs is one of the only nature coast towns that has 2 excellent west facing causeway/beaches and wind surfers/ kite boarders claim it is the most ideal place any where to experience these sports because of the orientation they have to the Ocean here in North Tampa Bay. Enjoy!

360 degree view

By I4535KDcherylh |

Sunset Beach is special as it juts out and allows you to look far out or across the bay. Clean and people friendly. One of my preferred spots.

Small beach in lovely Tarpin Soring

By Mindy D |

This is a small beach and fine to just put your feet in the water. I love Tarpin Springs for the food and soap shops so when we come I do like to visit this small beach and dip my feet in the water and walk on the sand

Spectacular show for all ages!

By BJjourneys |

We arrived early enough to get a good parking space, walk around a while then find seats on a beachside bench. And, what a show it was! Seabirds skimmed along the water looking for dinner or cruised by a bit higher up. Children played on the beach and folks strolled by watching the main event slowly develop. The sun played hide and seek among the clouds and lit up the sky with all shades of gold, orange and red before dipping below the horizon. Great stop for all ages!

Excellent hidden gem!

By Tara C |

Really lovely and clean beach with fabulous views. Great place to relax and watch the sunset or play all day in the water!

A more laid back beach

By Chrissy1113 |

Bring your own food and drink has bathrooms and changing areas. Much more laid back and quiet than the beaches along the southern beaches no waves just deep enough to cool off
relax and enjoy the day See you Tube Sunset Beach for an overview

Swim in Gulf of Mexico

By Kjm2167 |

Went to Sunset beach to give the kids an opportunity to swim in the Gulf of Mexico. It was an educational experience to compare to swimming in the Atlantic.

Love!

By Carol S |

This is my happy place. It’s nice to find a quiet spot near the water and just relax in euphoria for the day. Beautiful sunsets and quiet.

Beautiful small beach in Tarpon Springs

By Al Y |

Very nice , quiet , clean and well maintained small beach with boat access , large shelters , excellent place for kite surfing .

Perfect as advertised

By HarmonyW22 |

I visited this beach about four hours before sunset with my family and found it to be really everything we wanted. The parking lot was full, but the beach was still quite empty--plenty of space for yourself. The water is very shallow, as to be expected in the Gulf, and we had a ball for about two hours. We returned about thirty minutes before sunset and it was nothing short of spectacular.

Nice beach areas

By Sunshinelife |

Wonderful views. Clean& we had no issues parking. There was an ice cream truck to complete the overall charm here. Very few small shells. Sandy soft beach went on and on. My only regret is not being able to enjoy the beautiful place longer.

Could be a romantic sunset!

By Maryann R |

We were hoping to see a beautiful sunset at this park, but the weather was cloudy and windy so we just walked around and enjoyed the playground and picnic area. The bathrooms were sparkling clean and all the tables and benches were in good repair. I've watched the sunset here before, with a friend, and it was so beautiful!

A Really Good Everyday Beach

By IthePerson |

If you're visiting the Gulf Coast of Florida, you might find a place like Clearwater Beach more beautiful. But if you are in Northern Pinellas County, or even farther north, in Pasco and Hernando counties, this is a shorter trek and even on the weekends has very little traffic, free parking, a shaded pavilion, and showers.

Sometimes the water will be shallow at low tide with a sulfuric smell, but the water is clean and calm. There are plenty of palm trees and picnic areas.

And, after all, it's on Florida's Gulf Coast, and that alone means this is in the 99th percentile of American beaches!

Good

By MarlyeGC |

Great place, nice and quiet. Excellent to take photos and enjoy the sun. Perfect time to enjoy by yourself or with your friends.

Nice beach to relax on

By lovebug |

Arrived early to be greeted with a group of girls playing music very loudly! They soon quietened down, thank goodness. Very relaxing on the beach until someone started playing their music very loudly (why do people do this??). My OH did ask him to turn it down which he did.

Overall an enjoyable visit but prefer some of the other beaches in the area.

Pretty crowded on Wednesday afternoon

By JanetScottB |

We came from Fred Howard so it wasn't as large comparatively. All the parking was taken up so we just made a quick loop through. Glad we stopped at Fred Howard first.

Breathtaking View

By Jennifer S |

If you’re looking for the ideal spot to capture the last light of the day this is it!
It’s a beautiful beach but it does attract a lot of people.
It wasn’t overly crowded though so I was able to capture some snapshots and a video.
If you’re around the area you should check out the sunset there at least once.

Beatiful beach park, great for watching the sunset

By Susan M |

We stopped by to watch the sunset and were so impressed by this local beach park. There were some benches to sit on (plus the sand and rocks), playground, volleyball net, covered picnic areas, bathrooms, sand rinsing areas, and lots of parking. There were lots of people in the water and playing on the sand. It is also dog friendly.and the owners we saw cleaned up after their pets.

Very small and hidden away!

By Pamela4th |

This tiny beach has picnic tables, restrooms and plenty of parking. If you want something more scaled down than Clearwater Beach, this is worth consideration. Shallow water is good for the little ones.

A peaceful afternoon

By Rorojo79 |

Spending a quiet afternoon with my friend. It was very relaxing and peaceful. There are no motors of boats to take away from the sounds of nature.

Sweet Beach!

By RetireFL |

Sunset Beach is about a 2-mile walk from our house. The beach setting is very quaint and very clean. Nice place for families or just going alone.

A little piece of heaven..

By Angel P |

This beach is what the local name implies .. a great place to see the sunset.. it’s a state park with walking areas and a bike out and back lane. You can fish on The sides.. you can rent kayaks and paddle boards, bikes and, more. The parking gets full for the sunset so I’d advise you get there early as the park closes after and the rangers clear you out.

Beautiful area

By Rob W |

One of the best sunsets I have seen. We got there about a hour and half before sunset. Got a good parking spot and found a perfect bench to view the sunset. Not a cloud in the sky.

Great quiet little beach!

By Tana G |

This is a great beach to watch the sunset, launch a kayak or just relax! It is seldom crowded and tucked away just enough that you almost have to be looking for it to find it! I have been here alone, with my son and with family and friends. It’s a great atmosphere for everyone!!!

Great with small kids

By dorisgoldman |

It’s free and parking is easy.
Small, but cozy in tarpon springs.
Toilet and shade available .
No food and chair/ umbrella service.

Lovely spot to watch the sunset.

By Keyna W |

There are benches at the beach area to make the viewing more comfortable. You can also bring your own chair. Be agreeable to sharing your bench and you can meet interesting people, as well.

Nice Beach for Chilling

By kater523 |

We go here often and enjoy the sunset, clear water and beautiful views. It is good for a short walk or just to chill out.

Charming, Clean, Great for Families and Relaxing

By Palmtree B |

I like the separation of the beautiful play area for children with the gazebos and grills from the larger portion of the water. Decent restrooms and a nice flow of palm trees all around and it gives a great vibe. I understand that on the first Thursday of each month for 10 months of the yr there is a free concert on this beach! This is a nice well groomed beach. But it's a small one. It never seems to be too packed so it's been easy to find my own little space to relax!

Great Sunset!

By Middlechild |

Saw rainbows in the sky. Clouds created this amazing sunset. Beach was quiet and we had a peaceful sunset.

Gorgeous!

By ghstuart |

There's even a bench to sit upon and get photos taken. It does get very busy though, lots of people. But, so beautiful.

Nice little beach

By sheriffCarter |

It's a nice little beach, free parking and many locals, it's very good for small kids - shallow and small waves.

Sunset Beach

By Cshine7777 |

Well maintained, clean park. View of the sunset just spectacular. Easy to find. Clean restroom, picnic areas.

Small but nice.

By M V |

A very small but nice beach nestled in the neighborhood area of Tarpon Springs. They often have concerts in the summer months, and is very family friendly.

Pretty little beach area

By Janna64 |

Unlike the beach and park just up the road, this one is free. There is not even a fee to park. The water is shallow and nice for kids and very clean and has a great view. It is a nice place to enjoy the sun and sand and a great place to see the sunset. It does not get busy and loud like some beaches and I like like so I can enjoy the sound of the wind and waves

Quality not quantity

Small nice white sand beach good for a dip in the GoM. Sand in the water has slight clay content. Found by accident while looking for Tarpon Springs' main drag. Clean sand and clear water but there are patches of sea grass as you go farther out. The 3 freestanding changing / restrooms were also clean at the time; main restroom facility under renovation. Outside rinsing shower was adequate. Wasn't too crowded during our weekday visit, seemed to be almost all locals there. Ironically, Sunset Beach closes at sunset.

Perfect name for this spot

By Meghan T |

Perfect spot to catch the sunset. Mostly locals. Not your typical beach but it will do the trick. Loads of crabs to catch to entertain the kids.

Free parking

By Cynthia F |

Quiet the day we visited despite it being a weekend in April and a gorgeous day. It was late in the day; maybe 5PM? There were available parking spaces close to the beach.

Found several different available benches with different views. I saw numerous people enjoying picnics on picnic benches in shaded areas, and there were shaded picnic tables available at that time.

Family beach visit

By jackiehaneli |

Small beach but quiet and pretty to visit for the day and gorgeous sunsets as well , families were everywhere...it’s a local favorite spot ❤️

Beautiful place

By anewman1 |

We went before sunset and the kids did some snorkeling and were able to see crabs, clams. We found some beautiful shells and enjoyed the sunset at the end of the night. Beautiful must see if in the area

Ok for Free

By JustMeFlorida |

Nice place to watch the sunset for free. Not good for swimming; beach has mucky sand and lots of seaweed. I'd rather pay to park at Howard Park.

THE reason we moved to this area!

By StaceyIsMom |

Sunset Beach is my favorite little beach to spend the day or to watch the beautiful sunset into the Gulf!

Peaceful and serene

By Fern Poyser |

This is a small 11 acre park surrounded by water. There’s plenty of wildlife and palm trees. The place is calm and serene a perfect place for an afternoon picnic or just to relax.

This is a wondeeful place to go to see a Sunset. .

By mainemike62 |

Go in early June and catch the sun setting behind Anclote Lighthouse. Even with clouds on the horizon this is a beautiful and easy spot to get to for taking pictures.

This is a hidden gem

By Florida Shenanigans |

This is mainly a location that locals go. Very quiet, peaceful and away from tourist. Beautiful sunsets. Keep it private, locals enjoy having spots that aren't overrun and mistreated by tourists.

Jimmy Buffet tribute band concert

By Lou F |

Went to a Thursday night concert. They played jimmy buffet songs sound was too low. They need a better sound system.

Amazing Sunset Views

By Virginia A |

Bring your lawn chair and camera. You won't be disappointed. Better shots when there are some clouds. Relax and enjoy.

Enjoyable Picnic Area

By Bernard W |

Free site. Plentiful picnic tables, clean restrooms, parking, access to the water and a small sandy beach. Unfortunately we did not experience the sunset here, but did enjoy our picnic lunch and walk along the shore.

Great beach for sunsets!!

By Charlesp P |

My wife and I went to Sunset Beach on Valentine's Day to watch the sunset, absolutely beautiful! A must see for anyone in the area.

Nice park

By Jktchorne |

It was a small beach that over looks the gulf. It has nice park with plenty of picnic tables. Also, a pavilion and benches around the beach. The sand has a ton of broken sea shells, that hurts a bit to walk on.

A Clean and Beautifully Maintained Park in the Gulf

By callcri |

At the end of Gulf Road, down the street from the Tarpon Springs High School, is another one of the many great parks in Tarpon Springs. This is a town beach beautifully maintained by the City of Tarpon Springs and patrolled by the Tarpon Springs Police Department. The park has a playground, covered pavilion with tables and benches, picnic tables, benches, volleyball court, outdoor showers and clean restrooms. Launching from the beach people go canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, kite surfing and wind boarding. Fishing and barbecuing is permitted on the beach and grills are available for use. There is a boat ramp but parking is very limited and the best time to use these facilities is during the weekdays. The beach is a great location to bring a few beach chairs and watch the sun go down. The water is very clean and clear so it’s easy to see the fish and marine life swimming about. One year I even saw two Dolphins playing of the beach! The causeway and beach was man made and as you go out into deeper water the sand transcends into the natural rocky and muddy bottom. There are no food and drink facility so definitely bring your own. The Tarpon Springs Recreation Department holds regular concerts that are very popular with the younger crowd. I do not believe pets are permitted on the beach but they are in Howard Park down the road where there is a small hidden beach and many paved walking paths. Trash cans are readily available helping to maintain the beauty of this park for others. This small little park has everything needed for a day of sun and fun at the beach.

watched sunset

By david b |

every visitor should go at least at sunset. it does get crowded right before sunset, kind of a carnival atmosphere.

Loved it

By Likeshisf00d |

A super relaxing beach. So quiet, ideal place to chill out. Lovely water and sand. I wish I could have spent longer or found this place earlier.

Beautiful Beach with Terrific Views!

By Paul F |

We love to walk over to sunset beach and watch the beautiful sunsets that the area offers! It is a recommended beach with parking and places to eat nearby.

Great place to view the sunset

By Grandma43Penny |

We had two evenings at this beach. I love how the park has several benches facing the west so folks can sit and enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Beautiful classic Gulf beach

By Brian P |

My family has enjoyed Sunset Beach for many years. We are regular visitors to the area since 1980. It is just assumed we will visit this beach. Very nice sand, family friendly, nice breeze. More crowded on weekends of course.

Great place to watch the sun set

By wolmoz34 |

Great viewing for sunsets. Beach is OK for swimming, etc. Lots of picnic areas with grills for cooking. Occasional live music.

A locals beach

By islanddreamerdublin |

What a great find. Wonderful beach, boat launch, picnic area. Free. No pets. Lots of kite boarders the last time we were there. Fun to watch.

Visit on a cold Dec day

By Travel_the_world11 |

Stopped by while in the area. We were visiting Howard park when I noticed the peninsula type beach to the south and drove here. It’s a beach with a gorgeous view almost 360. On the small side, restrooms available.

Nice shallow beach

By Starviagera |

Unfortunately there was no swimming due to red tide. Liked the facilities with plenty of shade and picnic tables with BBQ. The water was warm to the touch. Plenty of parking on a Monday.

Small, quaint beach

By RDRReview |

You pass thru some beautiful neighborhoods, but the beach is clean, has numerous picnic areas and sandy shoreline. Plenty of parking, but we went during the week. Will be back for a picnic lunch!

Quiet easy beach

By Kathryn G |

Been there late afternoon into the evening for Thursday evening free concerts. Gets quite crowded, hence the going in the afternoon for a good parking spot. Clean rest rooms. Grills. Not a deep beach but nice. And of course the reason it is called Sunset Beach is amazing.

Best place to beach launch a boat!

By MarionsMen |

Absolutely best shoreside park in Tarpon Springs. Not usually busy and there is a place to launch small boats. Just know that at low tide the water is very thin!

Cute beach

By teamflames |

Small beach with free parking (have to pay at the more popular beach). Cute spot but the water is shallow and more like swimming in a mangrove than a sandy beach.

Pleasant beach and picnic park.

By Carol M |

Great little beach and picnic park with Gulf vista, and palm trees. Nice sandy beach. Not too crowded .

Cute small beach

By FloridaNYSP |

Cute beach with limited parking but a beautiful location to watch the sunset. We really enjoyed our time there. The water is very calm.

Great beach to relax.

By Dorothy M |

Drive down to the beach and stay for the day. Bring food and drink. Surfing, boating and swimming are great.

Great family beach.

By Tandy B |

Super family beach with young children. The sand gives way to very firm mud rather quickly but the exceptionally gradual decline makes for very shallow water, just what I want with toddlers and young kids. Small, inshore and nit much surf, good for kids and not attractive to the surf crowds.....all the better.

Great beach relaxxxxx

By robbylab |

This is a great beach for locals to and vi stores as well its clean has restrooms the sunsets are great bring your people that are visiting you from up north they will love it lost of birds and wind surfers to watch we did bring some wine and wernt hassled with just keep it in a cup we also brought a radio and just had a great day its only 30 mins from our home so it nice alt. to going to Fred Howard beach which also is nice

Nice, relax place

By MARTA G |

Nice and relax place, good for those looking for a more quiet beach away from crowds, and a pretty sunset view. Clean, well kept, with restroom and parking facility.

Off the beaten path

By SiamGator |

Great hidden family friendly beach. The water is shallow & calm..perfect for children. If you can find it at the end of Gulf Ave it can be a treasure...barbecue pits, pavilions and sandy beach!

"Loved this Beach"

By sandbeachandsun |

What a beautiful beach! We came here late afternoon on a Saturday. It was a nice atmosphere. Wasn't crowded at all! There were people of all ages here! What a nice relaxing beach. There are benches to enjoy the sunset! There are also restrooms and pavilions for picnics. There is no charge to park, which was nice. There were signs saying "no alcohol" though! Wish we had this beach in our neighborhood! It was very clean too! Be sure to take time to enjoy Sunset Beach!

Kids Love It And Adults As Well

By jaybeeFL |

When our grandkids visit we would take them to Sunset Beach for their Florida beach fix and they loved it. The place is great for adults as well as it is significantly less crowded and has spectacular sunsets to boot! The county has it well maintained, equipped with a boat launch, parking, restrooms, outdoor showers, covered picnic areas, and a beautiful beach on the Gulf. What more could you want?

My favorite beach

By SharOnMader_13 |

Lovely small beach to enjoy beautiful sunsets & monthly concerts. Bring lawn chairs &/or blankets. Free parking, but it is limited. Parking & bussing for the the concerts from the H.S.

Beach Day

By Donna M |

A lovely peaceful beach. We go to the beach at least once a week and this was the first time here. The parking is free and there is plenty of it. Love the palms tress on the beach. Bring your own chairs and lunch. This reminds me of a beach from past times, quiet and serene.

Great (free) place to catch some rays and then a sunset.

By Brian B |

This a small beach with somewhat limited parking. It can get busy at sunset during the season. The sand is nice and clean and there are a couple of shady spots and a covered area if you want it. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained. The water is pretty shallow and there is sea grass close by so it might not be your choice for swimming if you are squeamish

There are concerts and other local events there periodically. All in all a hidden gem. .

Memories are made of Sunsets at Sunset Beach

By Tink B |

Retirement keeps getting better with each adventure we take.
Four days in Tarpon Springs allowed us to enjoy many wonderful places and Sunset Beach did not disappoint.
Breath taking sunset, beautiful breezes and lots of friendly folks.
I rated 4 out of 5 only because the beach was a bit narrow for our taste but still very useable and clean.

The place to go to watch the sunset

By Tony_From_Callahan |

We have taken sunset cruises in Tarpon Springs before but skipped this year.
We decided to take one in from the shore this year and were not disappointed.
Luckily we got one of the benches facing directly towards the sunset, be sure to get there early because a lot of people gather here.
A nice cool breeze off the ocean and a beautiful sunset made for a great experience and some really good pictures.
Another bonus is parking is free.

A good family beach

By _ssroy1 |

On Thursday the weather was a perfect beach day, so we drove the 95 miles to Sunset beach in Tarpon Springs from the Villages. The parking lot was near capacity. The people and families all followed proper spacing. The playground areas were closed. The seaweed was piled up on the shore. But, the water was warm and inviting. It's a really nice family style beach.

Beautiful

By franinflorida80 |

Florida has many great beaches, and this has to be one of the top 10 prettiest spots. Kick back and relax and enjoy the world in which we live.

Great little beach

By jingleshell |

This is an easy access local beach secret. There are bits of sea life for kids to engage and learn. Mind bringing home the shells which are occupied. The most beautiful thing to see are dolphins coming close to shore as the gulf waters cool down. On windy days this is thee hot spot for kite surfers on the north side. It's fun to watch these courageous folks. No worries you can escape the wind on the south side and comfortably catch some quick rays or spend the day. There's also a playground for kids, shelters with picnic tables to enjoy your snacks, and restrooms with rinse area so you can attempt to leave the sand at the beach.

The Best Sunsets (and hermit crabs)

By Scott C |

The family and I come here often... normally after work/school to unwind, search for hermit crabs, and of course watch the amazing sunsets. Lots of benches to watch the big event.

Great place to go with family.

By Isabella W |

I whent here every weekend with my dad and would stay here for hours on end fishing, tanning, exploring, and swimming. There is also a park to play at next to a pear. So you can fish while your kid plays.

Fun day

By Capephotobug |

Took my 4 year old grandson here and he played on the playground on the ship and had a blast! Then we went to the beach and he played in the water and sand. There were outside showers so I got him washed off and then changed into dry clothes in the clean bathroom. Next we got to watch a fab sunset while listening to someone play taps on a horn. It was a great day and we can't wait to go back!

Beautiful at Sunset

By Melanie |

The absolute perfect place for family photos or just to enjoy the views. Plenty of space so it doesn’t seem crowded. Loved our visit and will definitely be back.

Well worth the trip

By WonderWoman20162016 |

Very clean beach with safe walking for families. Clean rest rooms with ample parking. Lots of others around fishing and wind surfing

Aptly Named

By FloridaMeister |

We wanted to see the sun go down over the Gulf. We figured it was named Sunset Beach for a reason. There was quite an assemblage of families, seniors, lovers and others who gathered the night we were there.
As much as watching the sun go down, people watching was just as much fun. This is a small park, but they do have quite a bit of beach area, benches looking out over the water a pavilion and a volleyball net among other things for daytime activities.
Best of all - there was no admission charge. Worth the drive to find it.

August Evening

By Jason Till T |

Visited one evening to be surprised with a live local band playing... seems like a lot of the local we’re out enjoying also which was lovely.... what a fantastic area to watch the sunset

Hidden Gem

By chel-belle |

We discovered this little piece of Heaven through TripAdvisor reviews and were not disappointed. After an entirely too-crowded visit to Clearwater Beach, Sunset Beach was the perfect place to get our beach on without all the chaos. The beach is smaller and rockier, but the benches are fantastic, parking is good, and the views are spectacular.

End to a great day

By Nbty |

We just moved to the area from Denver and Iove this place. Today was kinda cool cause of the big waves a lot of surfers out this evening. Waves big cause of the Hurricane in Texas. Anyways a great beach to bring the family u can walk out really far from the beach there is no drop off no life guard in duty. But sunset beach is really safe....

Muddy

By midiala l |

This is really a park just to see the sunset and play volley ball. I have been to many beaches and this one is not good. There is no sand, but mud. The mud smell bad. The water is not clear. It is not w good beach for snorkling which is what I love to do. The entrance is free and if you want to take a pizza and sit in the benches to look at the sunset it would be a great afternoon relaxation trip. Nothing to die foor.

Fun for family

By dianap2012 |

This is a great free beach. It has seaweed on the beach but we enjoyed the shallow beach. this is a perfect place for kids.

Small, Nice Beach

By mariaaba |

Great setting, with lots of space to plant yourself for a day in the sun! Enjoyed the entire day at Tarpon, with dinner afterwards..

REST & RELAXATION

By Capephotobug |

Love this place, you can swim, fish, relax and they have bathrooms and showers. You can also put your boat in water or kayak from here.

Great park

By Connector301341 |

This was our favorite other than Fort Desoto. I highly recommend it. It's small, usually not very crowded.

Beautiful Beach!!

By nmclemente |

Lots of parking, great views, white sand, and a decent sand bar but then it looked like good depth. We only came to take a peak, it was crowded. We'll be back.

Topless beach

By Ron S |

Great secluded little beach. during the week it's less crowded. Seems to be popular with European tourists who come here to sunbath topless.

Hometown

By Travel43550 |

Nothing fancy, but the best place to go for a townie. Most people do not know this is here. Family friendly. Always go here for great sunsets

Gorgeous sunsets

By Roseanne C |

We go once a month for the concert on the beach. It's a beautiful area to sit and listen to the band while watching a gorgeous sunset!

Old memories with old girlfriend

By RRJTWC |

Great beach. Great sunset. Especially with someone you love.
Excellent wildlife viewing.
Can't wait for the monthly music concerts.

Free, and well situated.

By Gordon S |

Took some other reviewers advice and tried this out on a busy holiday weekend. Not that well signposted for visitors but maybe no bad thing as we were able to park car ok. Small but Sandy beach with good swimming. Great Gulf view too, and plenty of shade, tables, and toilets.

Free Concerts 1st Thursday of every month

By GregB052148 |

Sunset Beach is a great little beach to go and just hang out. The beach and parking are free. Usually plenty of parking except when monthly free concert is going on. Alchohol is not allowed in the park-----but if you are NOT a jerk, cover the container, and don't waive it in front of the police and park rangers they will leave you alone. The evening concerts draw a big crowd,,,, bring your own chair, a sandwich and enjoy,

Nice

By Clc2012 |

This is a great little beach and it's free! We enjoyed spending a few hours here relaxing in the sun and water. It was clean and nice. They have changing rooms and toilets so that was good.

Idyllic location and free, but not the best sand

By Cherry_Wonderdog |

We were headed off to Honeymoon Island State Park one afternoon when a local recommended we shorten our drive, save a little money, and check out Sunset Beach instead. The drive was probably half the distance from Dunedin, and the location was idyllic. It was like a little inlet, surrounded by palm trees, with multiple benches close to the water, and a small area of sand to sunbathe.

What Cherry Wonderdog thought was a bit disappointing was, in fact, the sand area which paled in comparison to a hallmark beach. Even in the water (which was too cold for swimming), there were a few rocks and protruded sharp edges that left me slightly uneasy. While many seniors had flocked to this area for quiet solitude to bask in the Florida rays, I am in the contingent of beach goers who need white fluffy sand, big waves, and greater intensity. It was peaceful to read a book though.

Beautiful Beach

By Sonia F |

Sunset Beach is a beautiful place to spend time with the family. The waters are gorgeous and the setting absolutely stunning.

Sunset Concerts on the Beach

By Linda E |

This is a charming little beach. This is a beach that is for nature lovers . We love this beach for the free sunset concerts that they hold once a month[usually around the full moon] on Thursdays evenings starting around 7 p.m. Great for a date night or a family outing. We have been going to Sunset Beach for the last 18 years. The concerts are held during the warmer months ,April -November.

Sunsets and Beach!

By Courtenay O |

This is a lovely park with accessible beach. There is a lot of parking, but it can fill to capacity for the sunset. This beach also has a Free Little Library, for exchanging books to read. There are picnic tables, if you forget chairs and tables. A volleyball net was being used for sport, even though a sign said no organized sports. A nearby pavilion was used by young children doing summersaults.

For the sunset, you can sit or stand on the beach. You can sit in your own chair. Several benches are available on the beach or in the concrete before the beach. It is much cooler here than in town, so we enjoyed the breezes. It wasn’t very crowded, and there is no admission fee. Palm trees were all over the place, adding shade & atmosphere. Since most every stranger is 6 feet apart, we felt it was not necessary to wear our masks.

There are bathrooms, water fountains, and a playground, too! Very nice place to hang out!

Beautiful

By JVM-Milford-MI |

Located on the far end of town, Sunset Beach is a great place to visit anytime of the day. Nice sand and great views.

Hidden Gem

By ladyjusticesusan |

The views of the sun set are stunning. A real hidden gem of a park. Small but mighty in its offerings.

Free to visit, but watch out for the biting bugs

By TravellingAZTeacher |

We visited one time while we were on vacation on Monday, July 3, 2017. We arrived about 8 in the morning and found it a very small parking area. However, parking is free as compared to the Howard Park less than a mile away.

There is a playground for kids. Remudas (Shelters) for picnicking and a launch ramp. There is one bath house. Also there is no life guard on duty.

We pitched our chairs near the water and stayed until it became too hot about 10:30 in the morning.

The next morning, my wife woke to find her legs and arms covered in bites. Within 24 hours they had developed into the characteristic no-see-um bite rash. I had applied a repellent before we left while I was working outside at the RV Park and I was not bit.

There is very little 'beach' at this beach, but the water is shallow and warm.

We Were There During The Day

By Jacklyn W |

I can’t speak for the sunsets, but as far as a beach it is very narrow and not very pretty. It was rather quiet for a Saturday afternoon which would be a plus and there were many picnic tables. But I would not go to Tarpon Springs for this particular beach.

Appropriately named to watch an amazing sunset

By Helen M |

Beautiful beach tucked away. Great for sunsets. Wonderful Sunset Beach Concert series on the first Thursday of the month, several months of the year. This is a wonderful smaller scenic beach without all the hassle of a large jam packed beach.

Beautiful Sunset!

By Ramboandoc |

We ventured over to Sunset Beach to enjoy the sunset and it was well worth it! The location of the beach is a perfect spot to see the sunset. The beach area is small, had lots of rocks and dried seaweed. There are several benches and some picnic tables but we would advise bringing chairs. Snacks and drinks are a good idea if you get there early and just want to take in the gulf aromas and serenity of the surroundings. The water was sooo warm and a few people were swimming. We walked in the water along the beach and picked up some shells. The sunset was breath taking! A must see if you visit Tarpon Springs!

Unimpressed

By stacey f |

We spent all of 20 minutes here. It looked "shady". I am sure you could see a lovely sunset but we didn't stay to find out. The sand was minimal and not nice and clean. There was trash everywhere and the water was not pretty. It looked like a bay, not a beach with waves.

Night

By Shona |

We saw so many crabs on this beach! I had a 10 year old and 13 year old boy and they spent hours catching crabs! They are tiny ones too!

Just a relaxing time

I love this beach more that anyone around this área.....from NPR TO LARGO OR INDIAN ROCKS.
Brings to me happy memories, along, with my grandautgers....ahhh and Vico my dog.

Not Fancy But Nice n Quiet!

By Peter G |

We have been exploring the many beaches in the New Port Richey, Tarpon Springs area and found Sunset Beach to be a quaint and quiet beach. There is plenty of parking and it’s free, unlike Howard Park which is across the bay. This is a great beach to just sit and soak up the sun or use as a base to launch your kayak or SUP from. There are a couple of shelters with picnic tables as well as rest rooms. A great beach any time!

Nice beach with good parking

By HARRY P |

It's certainly a lot easier to get to for us than say Clearwater with all the traffic. It's a little tricky to find with the winding roads but that's what GPS is for.
It's only $5.00 to park all day and they have plenty of spaces.
The scenery is amazing. We wanted to stay and see the sunset but a storm rolled in.
The beach itself is easily accessible.
My only complains are that the sand is mostly large sea shells so not as nice as the sugar sand in Clearwater but then again, most sand isn't that nice. Also they had a lot of sea weed both washed up on the beach and from about 20 feet out in the water.
Everything looks well maintained and it's a really nice alternative to some of the crowded places.

Warm Gulf water, sandy shell filled beach, Florida Sunshine.

By Janis H-P |

Warm Gulf water, sand and shells on the beach, Florida's blue, blue sky, parasailers dotting that blue sky above, families enjoying it all...delightful.
Paul and Patty (visiting Minnesotans) totally enjoyed getting those feet wet in The awesome Gulf of Mexico. Patty has a broken knee so she gets around in a wheel-chair or on crutches. She waded in the water using her crutches for my photo taking...what a 'good sport'

what a wonderful sunset

By asheffrin |

We just saw a fantastic sunset, The parking is free and there is a lovely beach right on the Gulf. A locals favorite.

Great neighbor beach.

By Richard C |

Once a month the first week of each month they have a beach concert there on Thursday nights and depending on the band will depend on how well attended it is. It starts at 7 PM. If you’re looking for a great neighborhood beach with free parking and this is the place for you. I love this little beach it’s always a fun time for me and our family. It’s a great hidden gem in Tarpon Springs visit this beach and you’ll definitely enjoy it

Open For Pleasure

By jaybeeFL |

Back open after long recovery from two hurricanes (Hellene and Milton) last Fall. Damage was significant but the County has done a super job repairing and restoring what is a genuine asset to the local area and a magnet for the many beach loving tourists visiting our area this year. Stopped by over the weekend and the place was packed. Loved it!

Stellar place to view sunset!!!

By Teacher20052013 |

This is a great place to go and watch the western sunset!!! We were not the only ones to find this gorgeous beach and wonderful location to sit and watch as the sun set into the horizon. We took snacks and drinks to munch upon while waiting for the sun to dip down low. There were thunder clouds off in the eastern sky making the whole evening magical.

1st. time there

By Elizabeth D |

This is a very nice beach close free and clean. Tarpon Springs has Concerts there once a month and when we go back to Tarpon I will go to one.

get there early

By Bill Christy M |

Nice beach but get there early to watch the sunset. There is nice parking and the route to get there is nice. There is plenty of sand space to park yourself and enjoy.

Love!!!!

By Wanda B |

Was there recently and was so impressed with how clean and well-maintained it was! It was my daughter's first time EVER to see the ocean or visit a beach, and I am so glad Sunset Beach was the place to make that memory.

BEST SUNSET LOCATION and FREE

By 1961Cynthia |

I checked into my hotel and asked for a spot to take pictures of the sunset. I was directed here and it did not disappoint. Just know that a lot of the people who go here don’t realize others are trying to take pictures and tend to be in the shot. Cool thing, everyone claps when the sun sets!

great hidden gem

By eileen c |

Went there to watch the sunset with other families. Great little beach that isn't costly and the parking was easy to use. Not a long walk to the sand.

Beautiful sunset, beautiful beach

By LookingGoodinLight |

It is a small, quiet beach away from the touristee stuff. Parking is free. Volleyball net is set up ready for players.

beautiful beach and park

this is a must see place to visit and enjoy.....Wonderful beach as well as a great place for a sunset..

White sandy beach!

By nicbo78 |

This was a lovely stop on our kayaking journey. The sands were so white and circled around the island. It would make for a wonderful pano shot but I didn’t take phone b/c of water

A perfect place!

By Sal V |

My wife and I love going out to Sunset Beach! It's small but has a great beach and a boat launch too! They just added a children's play area and also have several covered picnic areas with grills. They also have a bandshell that has concerts once a month. The best thing about Sunset beach is that it's free- no parking fees! Get there early as fills up fast and is a favorite with wind surfers.

sunrise ---- sunset

By 200boba |

This is a regular on our morning bike ride and a number of evening we go out for the sunset or the monthly (thursday) music night.

It is a great spot for kids during the day. The beach is shallow and clean. I pu my kayak in here at times (high tide) and there is great access to the Gulf.
People SUP and Kite from here. There are picnic tables and washrooms.
Sunsets are our favourite

Friday afternoon at Sunset Beach.

By teachertal |

Quiet beach with plenty of parking...for free! There is a Pavillion, bbq grilles and a band shelter. I was here on a Friday afternoon at low tide. If you enjoy the water, come when the tide is high because when the tide is low the deepest point is about 1 foot. Still looking for the outdoor showers. Gorgeous views. Clean.

Quick visit for beach fishing

By Chris S |

I love the peacefullness of the beach. Usually peeps are just laying around relaxing. Nice low key spot to watch a sunset.

Beach Visit

By Emmy Kay |

Smaller than Fred Howard Park, a nice park with all the necessities and amenities. Just not as nice as Fred Howard Park up the road.

Quiet spot

By Lauren A |

I loved finding this quiet little spot away from the main beaches. It wasn't crowded the day we went (Sunday late morning). Although it's not large, it's great for a relaxing couple of hours or a game of sand volleyball. The public bathrooms were cleaner than expected and parking was easy to find.

Lovely spot

By Smooty86 |

This is a great little beach! Clean, quiet and plenty of close parking. It wasn’t crowded, but there was an “interesting” fella wearing a banana hammock, asking women to take photos of him... with THEIR cameras!

The Sunset Beach

By jimandsusan |

Very nice park, free parking, restrooms, and sand. This place was donated by a Greek couple who immigrated here many years ago. I think the Tarpon Springs Parks folks keep it up and they do a great job! What a great spot for sunsets!

Shhhhh locals only!

By corkyb12 |

Our little hidden treasure. Total local beach. Great place for wind/kite surfing. So fun to watch. Concerts once a month. Don't tell!!!

A perfect spot to see the sunset!

This is a quiet beach to relax and enjoy a beautiful Florida day. Don’t forget to bring a picnic and enjoy the sunset. Always plenty of free parking! This is a getaway from the crowded beaches. Enjoy!

Nice sunset view

By nnmercman |

The beach got quite busy near sunset time but there's plenty of parking. Unfortunately there was a bit of low cloud on the horizon so we didn't see the sun going down that clearly. However, everybody seemed to be having a good time waiting and watching and there was a wedding as well. As the sun disappeared a slight breeze developed and it got quite chilly. By the look of the sand I think there's probably better places for a daytime visit but hey it's free to park so that's a bonus!

Fred Howard park is just up the road and you'd probably get an even better sunset view but there is a $5 parking charge although I doubt anybody checks tickets in the evening.

Vews looking 300 degrees around the surrounding Gulg waters

By Legstrat |

Causeway road to a point out in the Gulf with panoramic views in this public park makes for fabulous views as the sun slowly sets to the west into the Gulf's horizon.

Excellent!

By Bella R |

The beach is an exellent place to watch the sunset! Just as it's name suggests! There are a few trees, but none of them block the view. The beach is open 'till sunset. It's so beautifull, words can't describe!

Great small beach

By mahhk |

Great place to kitesurf, shallow, good beach area, outdoor bathroom stall. Free parking! Small area, doesn't seem to be a place tourist flock too

Wonderful little tucked away beach

By Txtransplant |

Our new favorite beach! It's nothing fancy, not even particularly spectacular, but it's sandy, and calm, rarely crowded. Plenty of calm water, albeit with sea grasses just offshore. There's a great large pavilion and several covered picnic areas, along with a playground and clean bathrooms. We've been several times in the past 3 weeks and it's now our "go-to" beach. Oh, and it's Free.

Beautiful Sunset

By AleliMiami1 |

Spend one afternoon enjoying the sunset and peaceful beach. The sand is light brown and it had some see weed .

Spectacular

By SueandDaveWells |

We had taken a ride to Sunset Beach during the day and found it to be probably one of the most popular areas we had seen. First, there is no charge and yes they do have facilities there. There are many benches to sit and relax, some picnic areas, and a very nice beach. It is not a large place, there is a place for people to put their boats in though. The sunset, speaks for itself, amazing...we had driven back out there just to check it out. There are beautiful palm trees and you see silouettes of those on beachside as the sun sets....Makes for some beautifu memories and photos as well.

Gorgeous!!

By sanrob2 |

The Beach is absolutely beautiful! It's white sand and is just so nice and the sun shine on you with the beautiful views you don't want it to end. So This is a place for a picnic lunch and swimming and laying out to get a tan Just beautiful!

Family Friendly Atmosphere

By pchaplin2 |

Attended children's birthday party. Perfect! Pavilion facilities; small, but very nice beach- very scenic with palm trees and shrubs for shade; comfort station, free parking and more. I'll definitely think about Sunset the next time I want to go to the beach!

Beautiful

By Casey M |

Was absolutely beautiful, free parking. Really enjoyed it I would suggest checking it out. It has the best view of the sunset

Relax and soak up the sun

By _ssroy1 |

Beautiful views, nice family friendly beach. The gulf water was quiet, serene. Great for floating and shelling. The people we met there were friendly .

Quiet

By tmsot |

Nice little beach. Not too many people as it was rainy and cool. Has nice play area for the little kids too.

Pinic Date at Sunset

By Scott C |

Last night we had the most amazing time at Sunset Beach. We brought a blanket, chairs, and a picnic and joined a plethora of families and sunset loving tourists to watch our mid-February day come to a close. At 76 degrees on a “Winter” day, this little island beach was a perfect temp for playing in the sand (many kids did) throwing a football, or wading in the water (as we did). French and Spanish speaking families were all around as, further reinforcing the family mood and as the sun began to sink, the beauty of the area transformed from silver mirrored water to firery sky, a night time rainbow of colors. Be sure to wait another 30-45 minute after the sun has set, as the sky continues to paint an endless scene of watercolors.

Nice place to see spectacular sunsets

By BMZ |

The beach was accessible from town and easy to reach by car. Ample parking is available. There are several benches for sitting to watch the sunsets, which are really beautiful to see from the beach. A very popular destination for locals and tourists alike.

pristine surroundings, beautiful beach

By arleneb5900 |

I love this beach. It is gorgeous, has a lot of wildlife, many exotic birds and sandpipers sitting on the beach. the sand is beautiful and scenery is outstanding. It was an overcast day when we travelled there. It is a great area to walk and hike. It is a swim at your own risk beach. Parking is ample. A very clean and beautiful beach to visit. bring your beach chairs and take in the gorgeous view.

Nice walk area

By wrpupkis |

We parked our car and walked around for a while. It's not the powdery white sand at Siesta Key but quite nice.

Smallest Beach ever!

By jleannarda |

Very small beach (less then 2 acres!), a few benches and a restroom. Yes, if you arrive just before sunset you can watch and experience a beautiful sunset, but for anything else go to Fred Howard which is just a short distance away.

Beautiful sunsets

By grismons |

We go to this beach all the time when here. They have the most beautiful sunsets you've ever seen. They offer concerts in the park all the time. It's a can't miss place to go.

Beach stop

By Donna S |

I am not a fan of small beaches that remind me more of a beach at a lake. So I was not impressed. It would be good for local families with kids to enjoy the day. But if it's nice sand and surf you want this is not the place. They do have pavilions you can grill and picnic and there is a playground area. I am not saying don't go just saying it's not for me. I am more of an east coast sand and surf person. I feel like I could go to a lake in Ohio and get this. Not what I am looking for in Florida.

Stunning sunsets

By 5698tammyh |

Amazing place to catch a stunning sunset! Great place for families or couples, play volleyball or just watch the beautiful scenery

Small but pleasant

By babynurse21 |

I think this is a county beach. There are restrooms, playground structures, and a shelter. There is no concession. There is a soda machine that takes $1 bills or credit cards. Bring your own food and beverages!! There is not much sandy beach area, but the water is easy to access and shallow.

It's a nice place.

By Wendy B |

We were early for sunset, so we had no problem trying to find a place to park. This is a SMALL beach area with very limited parking. It could be a place, if you came early to spend the day, bring your picnic, and a good book. Nice shady areas.

Perfect Beach!

By lynn34667 |

I love Sunset Beach anytime of the day but it is named Sunset Beach for a reason. Plan to stay for the sunset here, you won't be disappointed!

Great small family beach

By Traveler |

Come here to watch amazing kite sailing or just to relax. Picnicking is available and sunsets are always free! You may need to bring your own chairs at certain times. Wonderful place to enjoy old Florida.

Small Hidden Beach

By Kara S |

Sometimes I need beach time that doesn't entail a big production. Sunset Beach fits the bill. For one, this small Tarpon Springs beach is walking distance from where I usually stay. If I do happen to want to drive, perhaps to take a chair or a cooler, the parking is free. If my visit is earlier in the day during the week there usually aren't too many people (however it is a small park with limited parking and so can filled up quickly on the weekends).

It is a great place to go if I just want to grab my book (an ebook on my phone these days) and spend an hour reading, wading and watching birds.

Beautiful any time of year!

By wanderwoman |

Our family has been visiting Sunset Beach for the past 16 years. In the winter or in the summer, it never disappoints. Enjoy!

Peaceful, clean and lovely!

By sadiedust |

Just a perfect spot to walk around the beach and not run into crowds. There were shady protected spots and full sun spots. You could bring your beach gear and plop down on the sand or sit in one of the many benches. The restrooms were clean and there is a spot to launch a small water vehicle and a children's playground. There is a volleyball section and plenty of picnic tables. I recommend this beach and on Thursday evenings they sometimes have live music!

Best sunset

By Ronnie M |

So glad we listened to the locals….. they said get there early, it will get busy.
Right before the sun was to set people started pouring it and they were gone shortly thereafter.
The park is beautiful and well maintained …. We spent the afternoon there and enjoyed ourselves.
It was the mist beautiful sunset we have see in a long time.
It’s a must stop location.

Nice place for a picnic

By omatrishafreitag |

We had a large family gathering at Sunset Beach. The picnic area is great. The coverings over the tables is an added bonus. Restrooms are clean and a reasonable distance from the eating area. The beach is clean. The water is a bit shallow and not as clean as other areas but the kids had a blast. It's a fantastic place to spend time with family and watch the sunset.

Beautiful sunsets

By Kelly D |

Beach not the greatest for swimming and a bit smelly but sunsets the best in the area. Washrooms available and barbecue areas.

Great beach

By Richard W |

Great beach for water activities but not a whole lot of sand. Swam the entire time. Lots for fish. If you go get there early (before noon).

Small piece of sunshine

By e1h2m3o4 |

My husband and I were in town for a very short trip. We wanted to squeeze a tiny bit of beach time in our short weekend. It was not as “beachy” as we expected, but still found a comfy bench to sit and enjoy the view for a half hour.

Ok for a quick stay

By Lisa L |

Definitely a solo beach, not enough room for much else. Water is muddy & not good for swimming. Sand is nice & good for a walk, but keep it solo or couples for some peace & regeneration. Very little parking. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR GROUPS OR BIG PICNICS! Head north to Fred Howard for that.

LOVE this park!!

By 4ReelPete |

FREE parking, fishing, swimming, & concerts first Thursday every month @ 7pm February through November. Volleyball, net picnic pavilions(no resv), playground, plenty of parking. And of course the sun sets can be spectacular.

The name says it all

By Ivan M |

You definitely get what you expect which is a absolutely picturesque sunset, have a fun day of exploring early evening of dining and top it off with a romantic kiss on the beach with the Sun Painting a masterpiece behind you. Definitely one of those romantic comedy moments that only seem real in the movies

Pretty Beach Kind of Crowded

By Bynska |

We visited this beach to go shelling and have a picnic lunch. Didn't find any interesting shells, and there weren't any open picnic tables, so we left. It is a really pretty beach, which probably explains why it was so crowded. I think we'll stick to Honeymoon Island State Park from now on.

Everything you want in aptly named medium-sized venue!

By Susan G |

I LOVE this place - one picnic table is literally steps away from the water. That was important when we went with my aged mother. The sunset view is unimpaired. Just a cozy, relaxing getaway!

Best sunset for free

By George T |

Nice benches to sit on while watching sunset, has bathroom and rinsing facilities, nice shell picking and unobstructed views..

Free parking @ Sunset Beach

By Barbara N |

Great beach for spending the day, windsurfing, kayaking, sail boating, picnicking. Not a large walking beach, but free parking. Restrooms, but no other services. Great free concerts on Thursday nights. Check with Tarpon Springs commerce for dates. Across the bay is Howard Park, no fees to park in the park, but $5 fee to park on the larger beach.

Nice Little Hideaway

By mike e |

Went the other day for the first time and before heading back North unfortunately. The Beach was perfect, quiet and a few people hanging out. It was a lovely day at the beach.

Enchanting

By mimi1125427 |

What a place to enjoy the romance of the sun setting. You sure don't need to go to Key West to see a beautiful sunset if you are in this area. Free access with plenty of seating. Just beautiful!

Wonderful place to watch the sunset

By Theresa M |

We love this little beach. On a windy day you can watch the windsurfers and para sailors just off the beach. There are also evening concerts on the beach but you need to check the schedule for that. You can bbq there but the shelters are limited, and there is a boat launch. Great little place.

Watched the sunset

By BeaK888 |

We had the most lovely evening watching the sun setting over the ocean, so peaceful and relaxing, even visited with the neighbors

Beautiful beach

By line10 |

Enjoyed time on this very pretty beach and saw a beautiful sunset. Plenty of benches to sit on and watch the sun slide into the Gulf of Mexico.

Ok, Fred Howard Park is better

By Michele R |

I would not recommend this park. I participate in the yearly beach clean up that Tarpon does. Due to the items I have found I would not bring my family. Fred Howard Park is less then give minutes in a car.

Sunset Spark

By ChairmanJon |

A beautiful secluded beach close to Tarpon Springs. Quiet, picturesque, clean - everything you would expect. Some shaded areas for picnic and a respite from the sun.

Nice place to see a sunset.

By maggie068 |

Certainly a nice place to see sunset. Unobstructed and comfortable place with benches and picnic tables. Get there early to get a good parking place. They do have facilities.

Brilliant Sunset

By Pasoporaqui |

I go here a lot when I need to relax or think. The roads were a little bumpier than normal, but you have to drive slow anyway. I went extra early and have the beach pretty much to yourself.

Great spot to catch sunset.

By Luis H |

A tiny city beach at the end of a short causeway. Mostly only locals go there. They have a boat ramp, a several large concrete gazebos, a central facilities building, a beach volleyball court and plenty of free parking. They have nice white sand beach and the water is really shallow and transitions to algae and muck 20 feet from the shore (designated swimming area = no boats). This beach is a popular with kite surfers.
With the free parking and boat ramp, many small fishermen and jetskiers like it as a put-out spot. (Note the water all around is very shallow, so you must follow the boat lane and watch the tides, unless you want to get stuck in the muck). There is showers around the beach to wash-off the sand and salt.
The park gets a good crowd at sunset for the view, and during the week there even is a Sunset Yoga session.
Park is open, dawn til dusk.

Great way to end the day

By ronnie m |

I have been to this little spot on many occasions and i am always glad i made the trip. If you don't live in Tarpon Springs, it is a little effort to get here, but worth it. Small beach with simple accomodations like rest rooms, and a separate area for a playground. There are a few places to grill and covered picnic areas. On a windy winter day i once watched some parasurfing at this beach. It can get a little busy at sunset, but it's a great spot to watch the fiery ball slide into the horizon.

Definite hidden gem

By MAG |

This is a really lovely, city beach park. It's tucked away in the back of a neighborhood, so it can be tricky to find. It's definitely worth the work. This little beach park is a throw back to old Florida! The bottom gets a bit mucky past the white sand beach, but it's nice and calm so perfect for those with littles. They also have a natural sand boat ramp, bathrooms, and picnic pavilions. The best part though.... no parking meters or parking fees! In this day and age, this is unheard of!

I highly recommend this nice park and beach.

Beautiful sunset

By onthego066 |

Thursday night outdoor concert, food trucks and an amazing sunset!! Don’t miss it, it’s a friendly and fun environment.

Quick visit before cruise

By Claudia M |

Beautiful sunset. Parking is not free, not too crowded in the beginning of summer. Bring your own chair and umbrella, guys on the beach rent them, but they have a very unkind attitude, especially if you are a foreigner.

The name truly says it all...

By Janet H |

We have lived in Tarpon Springs since 2002 and just found this little jewel of a place last year. Excellent place to go experience a beautiful sunset without the clutter of electric lines and buildings. It has never felt "crowded".
There are benches or bring your own chairs and picnic.
Also, there are restrooms and picnic tables.
We have not yet attended the Sunset Beach Concert Series which occurs on the first Thursday of the month (February through November) and start at 7pm. Bonfires, weather permitting, at the February, March, October and November concerts. Concessions are available for purchase. Alcohol and pets are prohibited. Parking is limited onsite, so a courtesy shuttle delivers concert goers to and from the beach and Tarpon Springs High School. FREE!!

Paradise - I was here every day!

By Lynda B |

What a lucky find - we were here every day, packed a lunch and sat for 2 hours to get our sun fix! Handicap accessible, many park benches, book share drop box, restrooms, all wonderfully maintained and so local for Tarpon Springs. AND WILD parrots - so beautiful to see. Loved it!

known by locals

By Steven Zimmerman |

You will enjoy this off the beaten track Gulf front beach. Known by the locals, and family friendly. Its not private (like our own Gulf Harbors Beach), but its nice all the same.

Local beach

By PJLOBBY |

A local beach about a mile from our Florida home. At the end of a 200 yard causeway that extends into the gulf. Great place to watch the sunset. Only about 2-3 acres but has many amenities other beaches lack, pavilions with picnic tables, a playground for children and restrooms. Plenty of parking.

A lovely little beach

By Ann H |

This beach is sweet and nice in cooler weather. Walk to one side and it was windy, the other side was warm with minimal breeze. Decent sandy beach.

Popular family beach

By Gail C |

Small beach area with benches, pavilions, restrooms. Pay for parking. Can be crowded on weekends or peak season. Lovely beach with nice views.

Nice for sunsets

By Dana S |

I would not recommend it for a full day of beaching it but for a quick sit by the water or a sunset view it is nice. It is really on a bay before getting to Fred Howard Park. They have a band 1st Thursday of the month. Free parking

Hands down best beach EVER!

By Berdy1220 |

We have been visiting Sunset Beach every year for over 10 years. Best Florida beach EVER!! White sandy beach and very clean and un crowded! Best Sunset you will ever see!

Local "secret" beach

By Christopher M |

Great little public beach with boat ramp. A good place to go watch the sunset. Nice little sandy beach for a quick place to swim or sunbath.

Average beach

By aspiringtraveler2016 |

An important thing to note is this is a man-made beach so it's not what you think of when you think beach on the ocean. It's a very family friendly spot and good for small group outings. One major drawback is all of the seagulls swooping in to grab food left by little kids. They were everywhere!

If looking for a true beach vibe, head elsewhere. If looking to relax near an ocean for a couple hours, this will work.

A beach for locals

By kathryn b |

On the day I visited, you could tell that the area is making an effort to revitalize . The beach is very narrow and man-made. Parking is tight. On this narrow strip, locals bring their kids and family groups occupy the picnic tables. There are Friday night musical performance opportunities posted.

Just like the name

By Steady2015 |

Checked out the beach in tarpon Springs just to see what it was about! Nice and clean with beautiful views! They have a play area for the kids with swings and slides ! Nice clean bathrooms and it was clean all the way around! People were launching their water crafts and I think you could do boats also but I’m not sure! I’d return to the beach for a day of relaxation!

A great place to go relax and watch the sunset.

By Richard M |

My wife and I have been many times.
A great beach and a wonderful stress reliever.
The grandkids also love to visit this beach.

Nice, but not the best.

By Caitlin C |

Go to this beach to witness a beautiful sunset. The sand was a mixture of sand/dirt and there were not a lot of shells to find. Lots of seaweed. We had fun watching fish jumping in the water and we were grateful for the park benches. The bathrooms were disgusting.

Love Sunset Beach

By FionaMoonBlossom |

Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs is a great smaller Beach. They have free parking and a few picnic tables. There are restrooms. once a month Tarpon Springs recreation department offers a sunset Beach concert starting at 6 p.m. the first Thursday of every month. They have food trucks and drink carts for purchase. It's a great place to watch the sunset. It closes every night right after sunset.

Surreal Sunset Beach!

By Wander Woman |

Definitely come visit this tiny beach for the sunset after a day of exploring Tarpon Springs! It is lovely!

Let's keep this little gem of a beach to ourselves

By 266dorisb |

A wee sma' bit of sand, tables for picnicers, launch area for boats and other water enthusiasts. Easy to get on a board or kayak and paddle away. Just watch the tides or you'll be paddling in place for a long time. The water is truly never more than 3 feet deep so get out and walk! Lots of eco-friendly sea grass. If you prefer sand on your toes in the water, this is really not the beach for you but you can walk out fairly far without getting tossed up in the sea grass.

Breathtaking sunset...

By Guru |

This Beach is gorgeous. It is completely stress relieving and it has beautiful sands and clear waters. Really a sight to see.

Used to be the best place now just dirty

By rsamick98 |

No longer a nice place. Used to be the best secret in Tarpon but no longer a secret and it just dirty

Shhhh, don't tell anyone where the locals go!

By Suzanne W |

I"m a local and this is my beach of choice. Very small, and quiet. Don't expect phenomenal parking when it is busy. No fee to park! Yay!

It has a public restroom centrally located, just a few minute walk from the beach areas. There are pavilions and charcoal grills if you want to have a beach cook out. If you look over you can see Howard park from sunset beach. Also there is a ramp to put in small boats, canoes, or wave runners.

Many times this park offers movies at night for free and local concerts for the public. If you are looking for the high volume activity of Clearwater beach, then this is not your place. No restaurants, clubs or hotels here. Perfect for laying out all day and watching the sunset.

That’s why they call it Sunset Beach

By Scott W |

Nice small park, not too crowded. Stay for the Sunset, you won’t regret it. Sometimes music and pipers add to the fun.

Great little afternoon activity

By Garrett |

We stopped here for a few hours one afternoon and swam though it wasn’t the best beach we had ever visited. Though it was fun swimming off of what was essentially a island. The sunsets are pretty amazing worth the side trip alone.

First time visitor

By David T |

The lack of waves and quiet surroundings make it a perfect spot to relax and just sit in the water without being beaten by waves. We went at least 4 times during our vacation in July 2021 and enjoyed every single second.

No crowd

By Sonja B |

We visited the beach on a Sunday, there were no crowds, lots of space, the waters are calm and beautiful.

Beautiful beach

By shannon s |

I took the kids here to just be outside. We didn't swim but we did enjoy the view and the sand. There were lots of places to sit and enjoy the water. Its such a beautiful beach.

Gorgeous sunset

By FrankLeigh |

We visited this beach twice during our stay. The first time, our view was spoiled when clouds moved in an hour before sunset. The second time. the sunset was spectacular.
The beach has beautiful white sand, pavilions and barbecues, as well as showers and washrooms. It seems to be a favorite spot for para-surfing, as there were 10 to twelve both times. The water is not the best for wading, however.

Great Sunset

By ROCtraveler30 |

It was breezy and cool the night we were there, but the sunset was very nice. You get good views of some of the off-shore islands too. The park has free parking and seems to have some basic facilities too. It is a bit off the beaten path as you drive through a residential neighborhood to get to it. Because of this our friends say it is one of their favs.

Beautiful place!

By Erwin F |

A perfect beach at the backyard! The house full equiped and marvelous views, specially the sunsets! Enjoy guaranted!

Small, pleasant beach

By DCtravels11 |

We came up here to try a different type of beach than Clearwater. This beach is small but pretty and has a different vibe. There was a wedding party taking place at one of the picnic shelters. There was ample place to have a picnic. The views to the sea were great. After the sun was heading down, we went off to adjacent Tarpon Springs to check out the Sponge Dock. Nice day!

Great Sunsets

By Denis B |

We are fortunate to have several local beaches from which to enjoy our sunsets. This is one of the smaller ones but I like it because for part of the year the sun sets behind one of the further islands. That makes for some great photos. Also most of the other beaches charge for access or parking. This beach has all the same amenities, but for free.

Nice for Tarpon Springs residents

By lilysparrow |

Small city beach area with ample parking, benches, picnic tables, playground, and restrooms. The beach isn’t sandy but composed of dirt. Families were enjoying this setting on hot summer evening. However, it doesn’t compare to the beaches south of Clearwater.
