Nice panoramic view of the woods and water body. Good place for a little hike and fishing. There is an 3 mile hike to visit the castle, which is a good place for photography. Photo enthusiast will find the the woods interesting..

Beautiful backwoods trails for all levels of hiking, from easy to moderately challenging. Have not checked out the mansion yet, but looking forward to it.

My family and I hike here all the time, our dog's enjoy the open field of grass and we enjoy the beautiful views. Great place for a romantic picnic or to go for a run. Tarrywile is great for the whole family to enjoy =)

Beautiful park for a short walk or a day spent on a picnic. There are many trails that you can take and great photo opportunities. This is a prime spot for family and engagement photo shoots. There is a nice trail that wraps around the pond that is fairly flat and easy. I haven't explored the entire grounds but there is a trail that leads to the old Tarrwile Castle. I believe it is fenced off and dilapidated but still a cool photo opportunity! The Mansion itself hosts weddings and other smaller parties. Great place to take your dog- as long as they get along well with others, the park can tend to have many people walking with or without dogs. Dogs must always be on a leash. I believe there is also a longer, and tougher trail with a great lookout over Danbury, CT.

Beatiful and historic mansion with amazing grounds. Great spot for hiking, biking, picnicing, dog walks, and even weddings.

This is a lovely, and pretty sprawling property located in the heart of Danbury. When you are there, you are surrounded by gorgeous landscape and vistas, as well as an extraordinary mansion. Whenever we visit, we look around and say, "Wow I feel like I am in a different state, like Vermont or something". Sweeping hills and fields of tall grass, with mowed pathways which are well-maintained. Trails of varying degrees of difficulty throughout the property, going in and out of the woods. Mature trees, flowers, berries, a body of water to sit near and reflect, and rolling hills to hike. There is something for everyone. Many people bring their dogs, on the leash of course, and be sure to clean up after them. The Danbury High School Cross Country teams have the pleasure of using Tarrywile Park as their Meet locations. It is a great place to visit during any season; I have gone with my family for winter hikes which are also beautiful.

I love hiking here! Great trails, with some being easier and faster with the more difficult going to the top of a mountain that overlooks Danbury and you can see out for miles and miles. I hate the cold so I haven't been since the temperatures have dropped, but can't wait to be back out here all the time from April - October.

We stopped in on our way home from an eastern Mass trip . We were trying to find something to do about a third of the way home and I just found it off a map . It looked good but was great . The weather was great and it made for a fun time . People at the park are well spread out and you feel like your alone .

If your looking for somewhere to run wild or just someplace to relax and think this is it. Tarrywile is the best dose of nature you could get. Dozens of different trails to walk and breathtaking views as well. Great for the whole family!

If you're looking for a flexible walking area -- anything from less than a mile to several miles -- Tarrywile Park is perfect. Great parking, really nice scenery, including lakes, beautiful wild flowers along the way. You can tailor your hike to avoid strenuous hills, although the climb to higher ground is worth it. We took six kids, a couple of grandparents, and a dog and a good time was had by all.

Had our wedding there almost two years ago. A beautiful old place. Staff was wonderful. Becky was the greatest. Plenty of parking. The only thing is that you have to bring everything in.

What a beautiful place! Only thing I wish they would restore the castle. Everything is so beautiful The gardens and lawns. The wedding was beautiful as they were married in one of the gardens

Nice way to spend the day. The trails are clearly marked. If you like to walk in the woods then this place is for you.

It's a great getaway spot in the middle of the city, with lots of great hiking trails - level loop around the small lake, field walks, and rugged mountain hikes. There are plenty of places to picnic. It also has a charming old "castle" that's worth checking out, but it's all boarded up. There have been talks of fixing it up for years, but nothing much ever seems to happen. As for biking, it's only suitable for mountain biking.

After staying in Danbury for a dozen years we've always headed north in search of points of interests. It was nice to find a closer attraction. The gardens are lovely, we enjoyed a picnic. Miles of hiking trails but it was a little warm to attempt them.

There are several routes to take here, and several go way way back into the deep woods. I've enjoyed many hikes here in the past 3 years I've lived in CT, including several in deep snowfalls. Tarrywile is one of my favorites.

Beautiful area with PLENTY of trails!! 2 parking lots for plenty of cars and maps all over. Visit the castle its pretty cool!

I've been to Tarrywile Park & Mansion for various functions many times. Small events can be held inside the Mansion. Larger events can be held outside under a tent. This past time we went to take pictures for my son's prom.

Good trails and family fun. I really enjoyed my trip and did some great hiking. This is a great place for a day trip.

My teenage son and I visited Tarrywile on the recommendation of a friend. If you enjoy hiking then you will enjoy this park. Well kept with some moderate elevation to get your heart pumping. Enjoy!!👍🏼

This park is perfect for lazing around on a sunny day. It has a scenic lake overlook and also a fairly decent trail. For ambitious walkers you can go around the park which is visited by exotic birds.

beautiful lake and easy walks. i loved the view of the lake and the fields. it was a very easy and leisurely walk and the mansion at the park wa also lovely.

The hiking trails are great for a day out. You can see deer and fish in the ponds. It is a nice way to spend the day

This is a beautiful park in the grounds of an old estate. The trails run through fields and woods and around two lakes. You can run your dogs off the leash and enjoy a picnic in shady spots.

We enjoyed a long hike around the two ponds on a warm Sunday afternoon. The trails were very popular and well marked. Somehow we were on a very steep trail but well maintained and we all had fun. We didn't find any maps at the trail head. There was a photographer taking pictures of hikers for a local newspaper and we posed for him. Will come back again to explore more trails. Very nice park.

Numerous trails - open fields - lovely ponds - loads of wildlife. All of this just a few short blocks from Main Street. Please keep dogs on a leash and clean up after them. No one wants to spoil this gem.

The park is so much fun to bring the kids when the weather is nice. Park up near the greenhouse and follow the trail thats to the left of the greenhouse. The trail will lead you to an open field with a large pond. Tons of families set up blankets and picnic and the kids enjoy running around the open area and dipping their toes in the pond (no swimming allowed). If you dont have kids it a very romantic spot to spend the afternoon lounging and picnicing, there's enough space to find a spot tucked away.

This is truly a great experience for beginners and a journey for people who enjoy the thrill of hiking and being in the wilderness. I went with my family and it truly gives you the feel of climbing a mountain and you hear the sounds of animals, which is a nice part of the experience. Definitely want to go back!

Went there for a fundraising event. The grounds are beautiful and the mansion is wonderful. The grounds have a Children’s Garden as well as many other beautifully planted areas. It is a wonderful place to host an event, wedding, etc.

Moderately challenging 4 mile loop on the Blue/Yellow trails with great views of Danbury at the summit of the Yellow trail.

Beautiful place for weddings.
I am big fan of this park and mansion. Whether you're out walking running or doing any event on the inside it is always great to be there.
The staff are the friendliest. Sam One of the workers are the nicest and most helpful person.
I'm very glad of my experiences in there!

Grounds are well maintained, trails are great. Dog-friendly-always a plus.

Tarrywile is a beautiful park and great for hiking, walking, relaxing outdoors, etc. The mansion is also quite beautiful, and is really nice place for weddings and banquets. The grounds of the park are much larger than they appear at first and really do deserve a couple visits to fully appreciate the beauty of this park.

This is for anyone who is considering using the Mansion for their wedding; the mansion itself is absolutely gorgeous but the actual staff there, specifically, GiGi is an appalling, rude, aggressive and absolutely just mean woman who, if she runs the day of your wedding, will show those true colors from start to the very end. She has yelled at our guests and party at the very top of her lungs like they were toddlers because they were mingling past our end time. Guests remembered her actions more than our wedding, which was a small guest count to begin with. Be cautious and ask specifically to not use Gigi

I am never sorry I came for a walk or hike at Tarrywile Park. Dogs must be leashed. Weekends can be busy.

This beautiful mansion and park are situated on over 700 acres, with several ponds and lakes, miles and miles of trails, and plentiful space for picnicking. I think people sometimes forget that this is a park as well as a mansion/wedding facility, so it generally isn't as full as some of the state parks, making this an ideal destination for walking and enjoying the gorgeous scenery. You can also fish here during fishing season. The trails are still open for COVID, although you're not allowed to use the picnic tables due to concerns over sufficient disinfecting.

This is a wonderful area for hiking by yourself or with others. There is also a beautiful white cabana where I've seen couples get married and also take wedding photos there. There is a little creek that runs behind it.

The grounds are lovely and the house as a venue for events in Danbury is a welcome alternative to corporate banquet facilities. Access for events needs to be revamped as the driveway is narrow and one way and tall vehicles cannot pass under the portico. Parking needs to be closer to the building and the path to the current parking lot needs better lighting. The interior needs some professional help with color, the parlor room off the conservatory is painted in a hideous color that does nothing for the atmosphere of the house. The upstairs rooms are nicely decorated and have a warmth that the downstairs rooms are lacking. This house has a fabulous porch that must be seen to be appreciated. All in all, it is a well maintained house, a tribute to the Hat Baron who once owned it.

I found this park by accident as I was travelling along the back roads. I entered in by the large open field and wandered toward the lake. The path led along the water into the trees that surround the actual mansion. I did not go to the mansion itself because I was captivated by the natural beauty of the grounds. So much variety in the landscape from water, to open fields, to wooded hills, to rustic farm buildings. I wish I had more time to spend exploring, but the park closes at sunset.

Wonderful place to hike - trails are well marked. The loop around the lake is perfect for families with small kids - easy enough hike for children. Beautiful views. A treasure!

After living for two years in Danbury, we discovered Tarrywilepark and we did a Sunday morning hike. I was amazed to discover that in Danbury, beautiful, peaceful nature. A must do.

Visitied for a wedding and reception. lovely setting. interesting history all of the property was avaialble to us as guests.

Great place to take a hike and dogs are welcome,,, Beautiful scenery especially in the FALL . very clean and nature at its best in New England

Great area for walks and hikes. Beautiful nature during every season. Good place for a group catered affair too.

it is good for kids good place to enjoy with family has beautiful scenic trails lots of butterfly's nice house for weddings and fun

The trails at Tarrywile are very well marked, and kept, and are easy to explore. The views are fantastic and there are levels of difficulty for all levels of hikers - from a leisurely stroll to a challenging hill climb.

The mansion and grounds are wonderful. I went here for author readings sponsored by the Western Connecticut State University MFA Writing program, and it was a terrific setting.

The development of this site was primarily due to the love and foresight of Sandy Moy. Although Sandy is no longer with us, the park is a fabulous tribute to her devotion. There are several trails to choose from; all of them lovely. There are fields, woods and water to enjoy.

Tarrywile is our go-to dog park hiking spot! It is local within Danbury, has beautiful scenic views from Danbury's highest hills, and nice hiking trails that are great for even the beginner! Our dogs think of it as "their" playground, as they get the opportunity to meet other dogs and sniff out the park. There is a good sized pond that our border collie lives for! She could swim in it for hours! There are even a few picnic tables available for a quick bite or just sit down and relax a bit. The mansion on the grounds is a great place for gatherings or parties. Tarrywile has it all!

Great hiking trails, everyday of the year! Just a few minutes from downtown Danbury and you are in a nature preserve! We are blessed to have such a wonderful retreat to meditate, jog, or just to walk at your own pace enjoying the view.

Lotsa dogs but picked up after. Pretty pond nice people...country in the city...fair amount of parking

This is a great place to go and take your dogs for a walk. With various trails it's great for pretty much everyone and has some nice things to see.

Came here for my stepson's wedding. The grounds and mansion are well maintained and beautiful. I cannot say enough about the staff- friendly, professional, organized, and guest-oriented. During the dinner service, we were looking for some hot water for my mother, who has a sensitivity to cold beverages. The staff noted it, and a few minutes later, a staff member appears at our table with a glass mug. That they went out of their way during the dinner service to accommodate one person tells you everything you need to know about how focused they are on their guests. Very commendable.

How could you not love this place ! It is well kept up and the scenery is fantastic. Myself and my dog enjoy hiking there and we meet nice people there every day. The maze in the field over rolling hills gives your body a good workout. A true treasure of Danbury, CT.

Went here for a wedding it was a beautiful location, plenty of parking. There was also hiking trails in the court yard.
The inside was lovely and it was a great setting for such an occasion.

Some really fine restorative work has been done here, and I am looking forward to visiting here again in the late spring, when all their gardens are in bloom and the mansion is open. A really beautiful setting.

Easy hike with lots of birds! Saw deer on the trail and enjoyed the sightings. The symphony of birds was enchanting. The trails were easy to follow and very family friendly.

There are a lot of acres to cover and quite a few trails. There are a couple of ponds also. I have seen people riding horses in the trails and there is local wildlife that can be observed.

Went to the most beautiful small wedding ever. Married in the vineyard. Drinks on the veranda. One of the most stunning sights ever!

Always a pleasure to take the dog for a walk thru the grounds. Of course when there is a ceremony going on you need to be considerate and not go near the mansion. Peaceful, quiet and just beautiful!

Great hike around both ponds- about 2 miles, some flat trail, some rock scrambles, great for those who like a little bit more of a "challenge" than a walk. Wouldn't recommend the whole hike around BOTH ponds for really little kids or elderly, but the walk around the smaller, first pond would be perfect for both. Took a little over an hour, then we headed to Pepe's for pizza! A great afternoon with my 2 teenage kids.

Pleased to report a fine walk on a blazed trail around Parks Pond, part of this extensive estate open to the public. Trail slightly rough to begin with and even more so with fallen limbs from recent storm. A great getaway in a surprising location within an urban area.

We spent a few hours hiking the trails and it was beautiful. It was really helpful to have printed the trail map although it was a bit lacking with specifics and we could not find a specific trail. The trails that we did find were well marked (ie. white or blue markings on trees, arrows, etc). It was a very hot day so important to bring lots of water.

Easy to difficult walk. Very pretty and lots of wild life. Deserves several visits to explore and enjoy this park. Very beautiful in the fall. Plenty of parking, not limited to initial parking lot. Drive above mansion if main level is full. Worth the effort and very nice treat within Danbury City limits!

This is a former dairy farm. There isa mansion on the property which is used for events and many miles of hiking trails. Very relaxing place

Many diverse options for hiking. Many people just go to walk their dogs. Some walk around the ponds, it's a fairly flat walk. I try to hike up the mountain at least once a year just to convince myself I can still do it. Beautiful views from the top of the mountain. Planes landing at Danbury Airport are just above your head!

The park is awesome for hiking. Gives a feeling of a thick tropical rainforest in summer, sans the bird calls. Multiple trails offer varying degrees of distance, terrain and difficulty. Offers an excellent view of the meadows in the middle. Has picnic benches, bird watching places. Great for artists to put up thei easels for Plaine Air painting.

Great hiking trails and scenery. There’s a nice lake with waterfall that’s fun to watch. The kids love it and it’s a great day trip for the family if you want to get exercise outdoors.

We attended our nephew's wedding 2 weekends ago at Tarrywile Mansion. Lovely spot in a park like setting. Charming mansion with a nice wrap around porch sitting on a small knoll. Not terribly fancy but quite charming. I don't think a very large wedding/event would work there but the approximately 110 people had plenty of space to mingle. It was a bit too chilly to linger long on the porch, but I can imagine that in warm weather, it would be delightful. The staff were terrific and pleasant. A thoroughly enjoyable place to have a special event.

This is a great place to take a hike. You can make it as short or long as you'd like and it's really fine any time of the year. It's a good size area as we rarely ran into other hikers on our path, but really just the right size for a good workout. It's tranquil and a nice way to spend your day. Parking isn't the greatest as it is limited, but worth it if you can get a spot.

Terrywile is known for it's many hiking trails and historic castle on the property. There is a beautiful garden and mansion as well. The hiking trails are well maintained and provide both quick hikes or lengthy ones.

Tarrywile Park is on the south side of Danbury, with extensive hiking trails and scenic vistas. We stopped here on our way from Cape Cod, and we were pleased with the park and its scenery. There are plenty of ups and downs on the trails, and several small ponds and a lake to enjoy. The mansion is open for special events only, but it is worth visiting the park because of its natural beauty.

There is a nice trail that runs around the property. It makes for a nice afternoon walk. Dogs are welcome. There is also a small fitness area setup with places to do pull ups and other various physical activity. The lake is also very pretty.

I love this place. You can see downtown Danbury from the higher ground. Love it in winter when the water freezes. My dog loves to come here and hike.

Interesting park to hike in. Two large parcels with about a dozen miles of trails. There are open fields, a lake to hike around and longer trails along a ridge that have a few viewpoints of surrounding area.
We take the dog here often

I visit there pretty often to walk my dog. It's always clean and peaceful! I recommend people to visit Tarrywile!

Good place to just walk and hike. Sometimes it gets loud with people there, but other than that good place to scape.

Despite being in the middle of downtown Danbury, this island of the great outdoors really is a quick way to escape from hectic life. Decent trails.

Plenty of easy hiking trails, tranquil massive outdoor. No amenities, though.
May need to have insect repellent, water and good walking shoes. Good family outing.

Just went for a quick afternoon walk on a sunny October afternoon. Easy to find, good parking, several map boards. We did a circuit of a small lake/ large pond and came across a few chipmunks, which always make us smile

The old mansion is often rented for weddings and other festivities. It's grounds are very pretty. The park itself encompasses many acres of meadow, pond and woods. Great place to hike.

First, I'm biased having grown up on what used to be my family's property. I likely could be one of Tarrywile's worst critics, that said, it is a great place to hike, trail run, picnic, dog walk, etc. Tarrywile Mansion (once my Great-great Grandmother's home) is a perfect venue for a wedding or really any type of party, celebration, large get together. There's plenty of parking, either in the lower lots or up top behind the Mansion. The saddest waste of a perfect place is the collapse of Hearthstone Castle (once my Great Grandmother's home, whom I am named after), tragically the City of Danbury did not seize the opportunity to maintain this beautiful building despite having many chances to do so. Overall it is a beautiful property that I love and enjoy!

We were looking for nice hiking trails, that were near the Danbury area and Tarrywile Park was suggested by a staff member at LLBean. We were pleasantly surprised to find beautiful fields and hiking in quiet wooded trails, minutes from the Danbury Mall. Plus it is pet friendly, on leash. Been back regularly and love it.

A lot of land to explore. I just wish the map of the hiking trails were more clear and easier to read/understand. Very nice place to go relax by the pond or just do the simple hike around the pond or the field.

Nice walk with great views from the peak of the hill. There are lots of fitness minded folks as well as Dog walkers, but not crowded by any means. Good place to get back to the Great Outdoors!

I rented the mansion for my wife's Roaring 20's birthday party, and it could not have been a more perfect setting for the party. You don't even need to decorate the place, it has so much character. Like something out of a movie. It's no wonder so many people get their pictures taken here.

If you are looking for outdoor activities and good old fresh air this is the place.

A beautiful park with several good trails for a nice walk or even a hike. In good weather, this is one of the most beautiful locations you will find in Danbury.

Enough trails to get lost. Open fields. Great place to fly a kite. Dog friendly. Take a blanket and a picnic and enjoy the great views.

Beautiful place, very spacious, my daughter got married here about 4 years ago. Very pricey to rent but we had a beautiful day.

This is a nice place overall, if you like walking, some nature and a simple mansion tour. It's free too.
We unfortunately went on a very hot day and the grounds are huge. We were going to walk to the nearby lake, but didn't make it all the way ... just too humid (upper 90's).
The house tour is nice and the office gives you a sheet for self-guided tour. The air con runs very well in the building, so it gives some relief.
Overall though, unless you enjoy walks, I wouldn't make it a must see visit.

While my daughter-in-law was having a baby shower, my son and I visited this quiet Park, outside of the Mansion. Though the Mansion wasn't open, we enjoyed the walk. My son and his then future wife even considered this location as a possible place for their wedding. On my second visit to Danbury, I would like to tour the inside of the Mansion and the gardens when in bloom.

We were in Danbury, CT for a grandson's weekend football game and when we researched what to do in Danbury spending time at the Tarrywile Park & Mansion was listed. We spent Saturday at the football game and so we were looking for some quiet on Sunday and so we visited Tarrywile Park. The park was easy to get to from our hotel. The park had sufficient parking which was great. So, we were off for "our walk." There were a few placards noting the history & importance of the park which was informative. There were a few different trails and because we wanted to be outside, we ended up walking between 4 and 5 miles. We walked up to the Tarrywile Mansion and although it was closed, we could peek in some windows to take in the grandeur of the 1st floor. The weather although crisp was enjoyable and we ended up really appreciating our choice to visit Tarrywile Park & Mansion.

We ventured off with our two grandchildren as we heard this is a nice place to hike. We had ample parking and there were plenty of people on hand. The weather was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
I would highly recommend this as it is not a hard hike with easy to follow trails.

Great place for walk, breath fresh air, stretch out, jog, or simply read a good book. It's always good to have a place like this close by.

It's all in the name....Tarrywhile (Tarry a While)
This Danbury City Park is a great place to hike, enjoy a picnic, take photographs, or just relax.
The mansion is also available to rent for a special occassion. If you do hike, be sure to walk out to the lake and the trail that wraps around it.

Great hiking trails! Love being there it's clean and well maintained. It's not well known but you won't regret making the trek to this small park.

Went here on recommendation from hotel staff and glad we did. Was a nice walk (even though a little hard to get down the hill when you have a disability) but really pretty and scenic.

Came upon the castle which was a nice surprise. This was our first time on that trail because we usually hike around the pond. Different levels of hiking trails.

If you're looking for a place to hike in Danbury,CT. This is it. From easy to difficult, the trail are clean with beautiful view. Great for birdwatchers as well.

Various hiking and walking trails surround visitors with beautiful New England scenery. Dog friendly as long as you keep them on a leash and make sure your dog is ok with other dogs since some owners do not obey the leash rule.

This park hs nice paths to walk the dogs and even take them around the lake. Very peacefull. A little to croweded for our taste in the summer months, but very nice in the spring and fall

I really enjoy this park! Large enough to enjoy a walk or picnic with out others right next to you. Whole Foods & Panera by the mall make it easy to grab a nice lunch to picnic.

Nice venue for a wedding. Beautiful grounds. Nice outdoor porch. Great for small spring/summer weddings

The mansion is nice too, if there is a special event like an art show. I don't think you can just show up at the mansion. It is cool, but the park is definitely worth it. Most beautiful in the fall.

We were there for a Valentine's day Dance sponsored by the church we were attending at the time. THe setting and decor were beautiful and if given a chanceI would definietly go back again.

I take my pup all the time, great place to hike, a lot of trails. Only issue you get some people who care when your dog is off the leash. Once you get a mile or two back in the woods though it doesn't matter much

There are over 15 trails with varied difficulties for everyone. Some are guided and others are not. You can hike for an hour or two or the entire day. The area is very pretty as well with a mansion on the grounds.

I always go here with family and friends for a hike. Beautiful, quiet place to be. If you need a place to relax and get your exercise on this is the perfect place.

You can take a leisurely walk around the grounds or take the yellow trail and wish you had just walked around the grounds. Either way you will enjoy the visit.

I love taking a morning walk at Tarrywile. There are a number of trails to chose from, and you can put these together to make a hike as easy or strenuous as you'd like. A walk around the hay field is a nice easy walk in the sun. A walk around Parks Pond is another easy one. I prefer a power hike from the top of Parks, following the purple trail on the map, then to the yellow trail to the top of Mootry's Peak. Very nice view! Then down the other side and back up by the water tower. Even on a hot day it's a nice walk in the woods. I've seen plenty of deer on this hike and they don't seem to be especially afraid of me. Interesting birds, water like and squirrels are always there too.
Not much there as far as facilities go. I think the only bathroom is a portapotty. And that is only near the parking area. Plan accordingly.

Since we had some spare time, we searched our navigator for attractions near our hotel, the Crowne Plaza in Danbury. We found this 1897 Shingle Style/Colonial Revival mansion come community center. We followed some signs to the office and were handed some informational papers, and turned loose to a self guided tour. it was free, and we were, too, to enjoy the architecture at our own pace. The site is used for weddings and other events and would make for some great photographic backgrounds. Walking trails on the property could make for a whole day's outing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tarrywile has so much to offer! There are trails for all levels of hikers, several geocaches & letterboxes on the property too. It's a great place to bring a picnic or book, there's tables & benches located near the parking areas. The whole property is very picturesque, the gazebo & meditation garden past the Mansion are very peaceful. Hearthstone Castle is worth a visit to, I remember taking a tour of it when it was still open in the early 80s, it's amazing what a toll time has taken on the structure. During the warmer months there is a story walk in the children's garden.

nice park for kids, young folks and adults of all hiking levels. Dog friendly, on leash. Trails well marked and nature on fiull display

Tarrywile Mansion and its grounds are lovely. There are several easy hiking trails you can do in an afternoon, even with a young family. The landscaping is well maintained. There are areas where you can picnic and the remains of a castle on a hill (watch out for the poison ivy). There isn't a lot to do in Danbury besides shopping, and Tarrywile offers a pleasant surprise. We've visited many parks and Tarrywile is not among the best, but it is local and it is free.

Great for outdoorsy people. Lots of hiking trails. Go for some exercise, to relax or just to study!

My daughter had her wedding at the mansion and it was delightful. The setting was so lovely and not hideously expensive.

Tarrywile park offers several hiking routes, marked with colors on the trees and it is a quite nice area with some ponds and lakes. We did a 2 hour track yesterday which was a demanding one as it is quite rocky and with many part uphill but it was a really nice exercise after the long office hours.

The trails for the most part are well marked and maintained. Same thing goes for the park. The bathrooms however are to be avoided.
The mansion is okay but appears to be a little run down and dated. The park is the strength of this location - it can serve as an outing for a half a day if so desired.

The Mansion is an incredible venue for weddings, fundraisers, or other galas. The charm is beyond compare. The park is enormous and offers miles of terrific hiking and nature observation.

this large city park has been left in its original state and is one of the best places for hiking, frisbee, and kite flying in Western Ct.

Well marked hiking trails or just a nice place to eat lunch or read a book. Well kept and safe. Mansion can be rented and is also well kept and beautiful.

Nice to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Wife and I loved it! We have visited once many years ago and everything still seems unchanged, which is lovely!

Amazing place great environment , if you a nature lover the place to be went to a wedding outdoors and after ceremony the mansion was well set amazing place

nice place to go hiking even with your kids! We went in september and it was just nice and calm and nice place to do a mini hike with the dog and my 10 year old.

I love hiking in Tarywile. It's one of the best places to unwind on a weekday evening after a stressful day at work...with my guy. Pretty sunset over the pond!

My son and I enjoyed our hike here today! The trails are well-marked---once you finally find them! But it sure would be helpful to see some direction from the parking lot as we wasted some time/energy just trying to figure out which way to go to find the trails. But so pretty once we figured it out!

Best natural place in danbury. A Lake, couple of trails, jogging route and multiple places to sit and on top of that the mansion. what else do you need to spend a day. Awesome place to visit early morning and spend complete day there.

The mansion is a beautiful place for weddings and events, nicely done . In the front if mansion is children's garden . Which has story time tours in July and August. An added addition to children's garden as of 2012 , gold award girlscout Allison Murphy developed a signage and scavenger hunt for small children . Also at the beginning of the hiking trails near parking area , she posted a history of the old dairy farm on the red silo and added a geocache feature to the other geocaches . Hiking is just beautiful around the pond and through the fields . Plenty of wildlife as you pass by the old castle . Hiking along the Ives trails is just fabulous .

Park offers nice hikes for people of all hiking levels.

lots of great trails, well-marked and well-cleared. yellow trail is very steep but a great workout and great views from the top!

Really nice place to go for a hike. Nice trails, good upkeep on the property. Dog friendly people. Great for families.

Beautiful trails, great for dog walking, hiking, jogging, or geocaching. Well maintained with beautiful surprises, both natural and man made. Easy to get to, ample parking, just one of the prettiest places around.

I'm not sure how far the hike is, but regardless of how far you want to go, it is beautiful and scenic!

Had a nice walk around a bit of the park but I'm sure we could have made it a much more extensive hike. The pond is nice and the house looks beautiful but since it seemed like a wedding was going on, we just looked from a distance.

I am a Danbury resident, so this is my go to spot. Nice hiking trails, bird watching, great views, and benches along the way to take in the scenery.

Though the hiking trails here have long been on my list of favorites, they are more so now that quite an effort to improve and maintain them has been so successful. The ponds are in wonderful shape and the trails are easy to follow. The blazes are clear and are spaced nicely. I attended a wedding in the Mansion many years ago. It was a lovely setting, and I especially enjoyed being able to be among the plants and flowers in the solarium.

Over 700 acres to explore. The Director of the Park and Mansion, Becky, keeps everything in the most exquisite condition. A must visit if you are anywhere in the Danbury area.

Seriously..this is the best, sprawling, local, hiking terrain. Beautiful and fun to explore! Not stroller friendly but you can bring toddlers in and after a maybe 3 minute walk there is an open field for running and picnics, etc.

I have been to Tarrywile Mansion for several weddings. The park is also very nice. Many people hike and walk their dogs here. It is also the home course for the Danbury High School Cross Country Team.

I’ve been goi g to Tarrywhile for years. If you like to hike there are plenty of trails. If you want to just go and read a book there is a beautiful mansion with a garden and gazebo and wide open fields. I love hiking around the pond.

We had a christmas party here and the place was great. we had 100 guests and there was room for all!

Tarrywile Park is a tranquil, scenic, clean park great for hiking with the family and dog. Many different levels of hiking available from easy, rolling hills, to more difficult wooded climbs. Great year round too!

Best money can't buy in Danbury! Beautiful structure and 722 acres. Gorgeous hike with a castle hidden in its hills. Great cheap fun!

Wonderful hiking trails through fields and wooded areas and around ponds. One of the best places to hike within Danbury.
Great for kids and families.

They man the phones Monday thru Thursday 7 am till noon. Just happens no one ever answers them. Oh well.

I live five minutes from the park. It is beautiful, clean and amazing trails. Yoga is hosted by yoga culture studio in Danbury CT every Sunday in the summer at 11am. The teachers are great! Go hiking after on many of the trails and bring your dogs! Just make sure they are leashed for their safety and it is a park rule. There is also a lake/pond (not sure what it is). The dogs love to go for swims.

This is a lovely park with nice opportunity to hike relatively flat trails. There are opportunities to walk/hike. Clean, lovely vistas. A nice hideaway from suburbia.

Well worth a stop to walk around & check out the property & the mansion to visit & the haunted house up the hill

Tarrywile Park is a beautiful spot pretty much in the middle of Danbury. It has great hiking routes and well as paths for the less ambitious person. There is a lake some benches to sit and relax. There are also picnic benches near the Southern Boulevard parking lot. They are more in the shade. Picnic benches a little further down (near the silo) are sunny and great places to just sit and relax.
You can bring your dogs (leash law in CT). It's a great place to just take a time out and enjoy yourself. Top of the mountain has great views over the area.

I go there for a walk sometimes. Clean, well kept, some uphill climbs but overall very beautiful and quiet locale. Family friendly

Many acres of meadow, pond and woods to play in. There is also a house and grounds off to the side which are picturesque. The house is often rented for weddings, etc.

I have hiked the park on numerous occasions and have had many beautiful experiences at the Mansion. Weddings, cocktail parties, or meetings whatever the event the Mansion is perfect.
If hiking is your favorite thing to do, you will want to discover the enchantment of Tarrywile Park. Just a wonderful place for the Danbury area.

A good choice of hikes with a good level of challenge which we really enjoyed. However, the toilets were the most revolting ones I have seen in a very long time. Surely they can do better than temporary cabins with smelly, unflushed toilets, which must present a health risk. Had it not been for this I’d have given them a five star rating.

Nice place to long walks and relax, not too many people know the place and during the weekdays is perfect

What a quaint place for a wedding. The property is full of charm with a large wrap around porch for the cocktail hour, and inside feels warm and historic. A perfect place for a small romantic wedding.

I went to this park to walk one hour and there are many trails. I tried the one that surrounds the pond. When you are in this park you forgot that you are minutes away from the the town centre. It is wild and beautiful. I don't give the park more than three stars because I'd like to have more facilities (playground for kids, restrooms, more tables for picnic...) The mansion is nice but since I'm used to beautiful and (really) antique architecture in Italy I'm not very impressed by this one.

Love it, use all the time. A great park, wish people kept their dogs on leases. Great views. Well maintained trails

The park area was beautiful. There are plenty of walking trails and good views if you climb the hill behind the mansion. When we were there a wedding reception was in progress and the mansion area was off limits, but it looked impressive.

Hundreds of acres with well marked trails (maps available) with ponds, hills, fields, a mansion and a castle. Plenty of free parking and no admission fee. Very close to downtown and a short drive from I-84. Bring your dog. Bring a picnic. Beautiful views and gardens.

WasmOK shame about the airport ! Drowned out the birds but was beautiful and green and tidy

My husband and I enjoy spring through fall walking the trails and enjoying the outdoors at this well-maintained park. We loved the grounds so much that we even got married at the mansion. What a fantastic location, we couldn't have picked a better place. the historical mansion is beautiful and the grounds are perfect. spend a weekend day hiking and picnic at one of the many available picnic tables, take your kids to the children's garden, it's so cute! be aware that there aren't any bathrooms other than a few port o pottys.

I considered using this place for my fall wedding. It is very pretty, epically in the fall. It ended up being a little to small for the amount of guest I had, but if you have a smaller wedding guest list, this place is perfect.

The trails here are well marked and not difficult. The are many spots for a nice picnic. We visited in Autumn and the view in all directions was amazing. The meadow, looking to the old dairy farm buildings is really lovely.

Love this park, a true Gem in Connecticut, some beautiful trails and just an all around great location and venue for many different events or just to walk around and enjoy.

a ton park with a some decent walking trails available. if you walk to the back some nice woods and a good degree of privacy. Town related nature talks and focus

Tarrywile has many hiking trails at various levels, from an easy walk around the pond for kids and beginning hikers to the more challenging trail to the beacon, which takes many hours. I rented the mansion for a family reunion and it was a wonderful experience. We ate in one room, and danced in the others. The children played outside happily. It was a glorious experience.

Great hiking trails. I went to a wedding here once, but it's so long ago that I'll just rate the hiking trails. Many options to choose from as far as degree of difficulty. Scenic, all kinds of nature and on top of the hill there are tremendous views - hard to believe you are in the city of Danbury, albeit the edge of town, proving the Hat City has lots to offer.

My boyfriend and I took our dogs for a walk early May in Tarriwile Park. We enjoyed a short hike around the lake. The hilly terrain and grounds offers a little challenge. Would love to come back again for a longer hike.

Well marked hiking trails with fantastic views from all of the high points. Whether you're looking for something relaxing with the kids or the dog, or more challenging, this is a great local place to spend some quality outdoor time.

Hiked all the way to mootry peak. You can see Danbury hospital and a lot of downtown Danbury. Overall the park is beautiful. The grass fields, the ponds, the nice paths that are great for walking. After a hard day at work it's nice to go here and just relax in nature. It's so pretty whether it's winter, fall or middle of summer.

Tarrywile Park is a gorgeous 700 acre public park in the city of Danbury. It's wonderful place to hike, walk, or run. The grounds are beautiful and on a nice day especially it's a lovely place to find a refuge from whatever is troubling you or to just enjoy a big slice of nature's beauty, solace, and peace. And it's all free. Explore Tarrywile!

Went after park closed for hike , signage to trailhead from parking lot was non existent and figured it out eventually, once on trail system providing you had a map it was great, hiking is good , lots of variation , and steep wooded terrain, need good shoes or boots, very clean no litter or dog poop, highly recommended

My wife and I were going to be in the Danbury area and wanted to take a hike. Tarrywile Park was the perfect spot. We weren't sure what to expect but thoroughly enjoyed the blue trail. One part of the trail was steep but overall it was exactly the type of hike we were looking for. We've recently gotten into Geocaching and found that there was a geocache to find in the children's section of the park! We were able to find it and log in which made the trip there that much more fun for us.
We were there for about 2 1/2 hours and enjoyed every minute.

I was walking through the main park and came upon the entrance to the small children's park. I was with my dog that day and we enjoyed walking the winding paths and stopped to listen to the loud sounds coming from the toads in the pond. It was a delightful visit.

I love Tarrywile. One of my favorite places. They haven different trails for different levels. Great place to spend a beautiful day! (Although I go a few times a week throughout the year)

The best climbing and forest , there are very nice mountains and artificial lake. This park is free of charge , for money you can book barbeque and exclusive event. I walked with my son (1 year) it was nice with additional device for baby on me. I have seen there place for camp and big square for play games. Near from this plase is huge house and sofisticated park with place for siting.

I visit regularly to go for walks or simply sit by the pond and relax. It is one of the few places in the city that is quiet and peaceful and away from the incessant sirens and honking of car horns. I have also attended a wedding in the mansion and it was a fantastic evening.

This really is a fantastic place to hike, walk, maybe have a picnic and generally spend the day in tranquil, peaceful surroundings. My family and I love this place a lot and would recommend it very highly. Free to enter, this place is owned by the City of Danbury. I believe the mansion is used for special events.
Tarrywile is a beautiful setting. The grounds are stunning and the mansion is equipt for a catering service to come in and handle an event.
