My wife and I go to Grand Lake every year so this review is more general to the beach in various seasons. This beach is a nice spot for taking your kids and usual people bring their dogs too. It is NOT a huge beach--probably only 100 yards (?) long, but is has sand and shallow waters. There are picnic tables, public flush toilets (though I do not recall if they are open year round), and an 'L' shaped dock with a couple of bench seats on it. There is public parking, but in the summer it is typically packed. There are grassy areas for picnics and I seem to recall a small picnic shelter across the parking lot from the beach. One of the soft serve ice cream vendors is also across the street from the beach area (catty-corner). There is a boat club marina on the left (as you face the water) and another marina/boat tour pier on the right along a boardwalk area. The beach is just one block or so from the main street running through town. In the winter the lake is usually frozen over and you can sometimes see snowmobile tracks going from the beach out onto the lake. In fact, in the winter the snow on the beach merges with the snow on the lake to the point where you don't know which is which so be careful!

My kids loved the beach at Grand Lake. The water was cold but they didn't mind at all. It's a small beach area but didn't seem overly crowded. It's close to the town shops and restaurants. Public restroom was pretty nice and clean to change.

Awesome views combined with a clean sand beach and crystal clear water makes for a great spot. Saw plenty of fish by the docks. Lots of water to explore to via boat rentals also. Nice big dock to walk out on for pictures also. We happened to be there for the regatta. Dragon boat race was fun to watch from prep to finish. Beautiful at any time of day.

Tiny beach, but a beautiful lake. Some kids did go into that cold water. We rented kayaks next door and fought the wind. One should do that when the wind is still.

The marina / beach area of Grand Lake feels like a trip back to the 50s. The beach is indeed small, with a roped-in swimming area (for play, not good for laps/exercise etc), a decent L-shaped pier, a sand/gravel beach & a grassy picnic area as well. There are a few picnic tables but in summer you have to get there early to nab one. The demographic is decidedly "family," which is fun & friendly, but can also be loud & chaotic. We love that dogs are allowed, tho they do add to the chaos & of course we all depend on owners to manage & clean up after their pets (usually but not always the case).
The view across Grand Lake itself (deepest & largest natural lake in CO) is absolutely gorgeous. The water is cold, & the weather can change from warm & sunny to dark, cold & windy within minutes.. so be prepared for anything.
Various watercraft can be rented nearby, & the lake in season is very busy with motorboats, paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards & so on. It's a short walk to food & shopping & the museum, as well as public restrooms right across the street.

The lakeshore walk is a pleasant walk with nice view of the lake and surrounding nature on one side, the city on the other...

Even thought he water was cold, I wish we would have brought a suit for our 8 yo who was driving us crazy to get in the water. Lots of duck/goose poop all over the beach. It is very pretty. Grand Lake itself was very crowded, looked like parking would be impossible.

Highly recommended to take a stroll and take a look at how beautiful it is here. Parking and public restrooms available. Historic home next to the beach available to tour. Nice experience

Spent one afternoon here with our 2 kids on a sunny, warm day. They had a blast playing in the sand and swimming. Nice picnic tables and shade trees, and close proximity to public restrooms.

Water was freezing but with temps in low 80s no need to get on water. There were a ton of people paddle boarding and even some kids swimming BRRRR

We were there over Memorial Day weekend and there were a lot of people (and dogs) around. Good place to play in the sand and wade (too chilly on our days there to be in the water). A few trees on the outside perimeter. Room to play volleyball and toss a ball. Picnic table too. Not a large area but nice sized.

We stopped here for the kids to play in the water after lunch. They had a great time playing in the sand and in the water. It was clean, safe, and also had picnic tables to sit on to watch and to have a picnic.

Beautiful Place to enjoy a day with the family. Very Scenic and lots to do. I love hanging out here with my family!

What an amazing place. Early morning the lake is glassy and calm. As the day goes on there is activity everywhere. People rent sailboats, kayaks, stand up paddleboards, canoes, and pontoon boats. Horseback riders brings their horses into the lake to cool off. People enjoying ice cream cones and dogs swimming and fetching toys. What a great place!!! Nice city park with clean bathrooms across the little street. Lots of great shopping and restaurants in walking distance.

What a great place to relax and enjoy the lake. There are lots of places to sit or entertainment isn't far away. Personally I loved watching all of the recreation on the lake and the views are simply spectacular! This is walkable from the main street that runs through town and there are eating options and lots of places to stay nearby. Can't wait to return!

Nice little area with access to picnic tables and piers. Has grass to put a picnic blanket or a towel down on too. Very close to downtown (just one block over). There are also water rental shops nearby if you want to not just look at the lake, but get out on it. Cute, well-maintained beach area. Keep in mind - it's a lake beach, not a tropical one. :)

Beautiful sandy lakeside beach. A bit small. Amazing mountain views. You can rent kayaks, paddle boats, motor boats. Dog friendly. Snack stand nearby along with clean public bathrooms.

My family and I were just wandering around exploring Grand Lake when we stumbled across this little gem. It’s very small but clean and well maintained. We weren’t prepared with swimsuits or sand toys but we rolled up our pants and wadded in. The water is cold but refreshing. My kids had fun digging in the sand. We only spent about 20-30 min there but we could have spent hours of fun. There were clean bathrooms right across the small street. We were thinking about renting a paddle boat but it started raining so we thought we’d better not. They also had SUP rentals.

Beautiful little beach area. Mountain lake so it’s not the sand you’d expect at a ocean beach. The kids still had fun playing with sand toys and swimming on the shallow end. The water is very cold even in July on an 80degree day! Lots of families having picnics, paddle boarding, kayaking and pedal boating. Tons of dogs! Most are on leases unless they are swimming. I’ve never seen so many dogs on any vacation. The beach area is small and very packed on a weekend. During the week it was quieter. The public bathrooms are very clean and well maintained. The whole area is very cute and lots of fun little shops.

Great place. Water is clear but cool. The beach has swimming and a lot of non motorized boat. Great takeoff for launching a kayak

Every summer we go to Grand County to get our outdoor fix. We stay in Grand Lake or Granby. Make sure to rent a stand up paddle board, kayak or peddle boat. Or just swim in the beach area. Bathrooms are really clean. Beautiful with the clouds hanging over the lake. Restaurants are great with good pricing for a resort town. Head into Rocky Mtn National Park for some hiking. Or go see the wild life at dusk.
For rafting we go to Steamboat and get our thrills on the Elk River. Many mountain bike trails and fishing spots in Grand County.
Groceries are the best at City Market in Granby.
Love this place.

I took my daughter and her friend's to The Beach at Grand Lake and we had a great time! Good food, great service and wonderful service!

Great place to relax, take a kayak ride from or let the kids play. Its very rarely hot in Grand Lake so bring some layers.

We were there on a weekday and it was not at all crowded. I imagine it would be crowded early on a summer day. Nice place to have a quick lunch break between stops.

When we need place to relax in peace and beauty we go to Grand Lake in Colorado. We forget about the noise and headache of everyday life. It's so clean and quiet and beautiful. We sit on the beach and enjoy the lake .

I stumbled upon this town, and I’m glad I did. The beach is small, but in a town this size probably is large enough, unless tourists take over during the holidays. Beautiful views.

We were excited to learn upon arriving at the beach, that you could also fish off the dock at the beach. Swimming, check. Fishing, check. Parent score. Ice cream and boat rentals all in very close proximity. Parent score again. Free parking, and free beach access. Game over. 👊

Grand Lake is a town that had it's hay day a long time ago. It is very over rated as a place to visit. Yes the view is great. Most of the places to stay are terrible. The land prices here are ridiculous. The Beach at Grand lake is about 150 feet in length. There are a few good restaurants, but the rest are over priced for bad food. I could have gone to my dying days and missed Grand Lake Colorado, and would have been better off for it.

We have vacationed in Colorado for the past 15+ years taking an annual family photo on a large boulder near the boardwalk at Grand Lake that ends up as our Christmas card. When we started visiting Grand Lake there wasn't even a boardwalk. On this particular visit the weather was clear but extremely windy. We sat and watched the sailboats sailing back and forth on the lake. There was a boat parade (which we missed because we were in town shopping) that day. It was crowded but we visited on a Saturday. We came back again on Wednesday to hike Adam's Falls trail and afterwards enjoy the lake and an ice cream. We prefer this side of RMNP because it isn't as crowded as Estes Park. We will be back!

The lake is gorgeous, although a bit cold most of the year. The beach is sand and maintained to perfection. There are picnic tables, water sports available, and a restaurant/ice cream shop across the street. For the "older" crowd, the boardwalk offers very comfortable benches to sit and watch the activity.

As one might expect in a mountain lake, the water is cold--the kids didn't mind at all, but it was too cold for my husband and me. Cute beach, restrooms and food nearby.

The beach is not very big but it's a peaceful place to visit if you're at Grand Lake. Lots of benches around

What a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the amazing views! Could honestly sit there all day! There are public restrooms on-site as well as places to grab a snack!

Beautiful lake tucked in the mountains!! Lots to do..beach, rent boats, walk around the lake. Worth the drive from trail ridge road!!

We went in the evening and watched children play, people and dogs walk by, and the sunset. There were life-jackets available to borrow. We did not enter the cold water. We heard and then saw some Canada geese. There is a "T" pier with lots of goose poop on it. The water was very clear.

The beach itself would not have gotten such a high rating if it weren't for the one of kind views of the beautiful surrounding mountains, including Mt. Baldy the long extinct volcano.

An overall great spec to eat dinner, relax, and play! We brought our pizza down and my son had fun in the water after eating just easy and relaxing!

We love places like this off season.
The views here are beautiful, and the atmosphere is quiet and serene.
The water may be too cool for immersion; but it is still wonderful to view and reflect upon.

This was a very nice place to just go and sit down and hang out. The Marina area was very crowded with families even for a monday morning in summer. I ended up just sitting over in the boat docks area and it was significantly more peaceful to enjoy the view.

This beach is not the sandy kind, but more with small stones (we are in the Rockies after all!). The view is gorgeous and the beach has some picnic tables and a pier you can walk on. The swimming area itself is small, and when we were there, the water was so cold, only dogs were going in swimming. If you continue down the main road in town to the end, then you can turn right and head down to a big parking lot. There are also marinas and boat/kayak rentals down by the beach area, a volleyball net and of course, ice cream! I would only say this beach itself is average, but you can't beat the view and it offers a nice place to sit down and relax.

This is just beautiful. It's small but clean. Best time to visit it is through the week. Great ice cream place just across the street. Make homemade ice cream

Wow ! The best part of our visit to Grand Lake is the beach and the various activities around and in the lake. The nice weather, the services, rental boats, ...etc. Full of enjoyment especially for kids.

Not big, but a cute little beach spot. Picnic tables for lunch or snacks and parents to sit. Shallow area with nice beach sand for kids to dig, splash and play. Also great area to take in the lake view and watch boats, kayaks and skiers.

Not as grand as we had hoped-probably because the weather was cloudy, overcast and cold. The shopping was nice and views pretty.

We loved our quick visit to Grand Lake on the way back from Rocky Mountain National Park. The lake itself is stunning and the town is like nothing I wouls see in Australia. Very frontier American style with cute souvenier shops and some fantastic icecream down by the lake. Wish that we had more time to spend here!

The kids and the adults had fun here and it was a great day. The beach is clean and the water is really cold, my daughter rented kayaks and had a great time

If visiting Rocky Mountain National Park from the west entrance do not pass Grand Lake without stopping. It is a quaint town with a boardwalk on the lake. The Beach is great for photos, renting a canoe or paddle boats and there is an ice cream stand too. Beautiful scenery around a naturally made lake. It is deep and the water from the mountains make it very cold. July & August are prime season but visit in the Fall to see the Aspens change color!

Beautiful is an understatement. This was my second trip to Grand Lake and I am already planning my next trip. The lake was a little low but that was due to the wildfires. Water has been gathered from helicopters to drop on fires.
The scenery is amazing and the homes around the lake are incredible.

off season a great calm place , have been there many times , also for a stop during day trips to rocky mountain national park.... we saw elk and moose next to the road ... :-) wonderful pure nature !
use the trash cans !!! could be a bear walking by !

Peaceful place with pic nic tables. Some shade under the trees. Great for families with children of just for a break after dinner. A part of the lake is secured for swimming.

First time to Grand Lake. We have enjoyed it more than our previous times in Estes Park. More to do and more laid back with no stop light at all in Grand Lake. Many trail head's near by, some long and other short. Nice. Shops with friendly local people .

Enjoy this beautiful lake. You can rent kayaks, paddleboards, pontoons, paddleboats. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake. A wonderful experience. Highly recommend it. Close to the main street so we can stop for lunch, grab an ice cream, and do a little shopping.

be on the site where the Rio Colorado INICA, is itself a pleasure, its size, the color of the water, do a walking or just stand to look at your landscape, is wonderful. the town is pretty nice

What a sight! The lake is absolutely breathtaking. There are multiple businesses at the lake that rent water equipment and motor watercraft. The prices range from reasonable to a little pricey. On average the equipment is rented minimum for an hour. On holiday’s and weekend those businesses are very busy, get there early. Parking is also limited. The lake itself is amazing and is set up for people to get in the water. Be prepared the water is cold. The kids seem to not mind it. There are several picnic tables at the lake. It is a beautiful place and great for all.

Small beach w picnic area
There is a nice homemade ice cream place across the street The flavors keep changing Definitely worth a trip

Perfect little spot for public to enjoy the scenery and water. It’s cute & quant. The views are breath taking. Nice walking path too.

We love to bring our kids to the swim beach at Grand Lake - the atmosphere is second to none, and the beach has been well-kept and clean each time we have visited.

After a long day of hiking in RMNP on a particularly hot day, we took our toddler to this beach for a soak and some relaxation. The beach was plenty large for everyone there, and dogs were also allowed here! We sat at a picnic table while our daughter played in the water. We enjoyed wading in the cool lake ourselves, and the dogs enjoyed a good drink!
Probably wouldn't recommend spending an entire day here, but it's definitely worth an afternoon or evening visit!

Perfect in every way.Ample parking, dog, kid and family friendly with a super homemade ice cream/snack shop across the street...who could ask for more?

Whether you visit for a few hours or stay a few days, Grand Lake is set in the mountains with the lake being the largest natural lake in Colorado and the headwaters of the Colorado River. You can enjoy the beach, rent a boat, paddle boat or kayak or just dip your feet in the cold water to cool off. A great park and playground in downtown and lots of shops and restaurants.

Best Lake in the mountains. Kids love it and the views are spectacular. A great way to spend your time.

Really cool place but the whole town is run down and not worth the drive, very tiny and very limited
Looks picture perfect in the pictures..... Very well at taking all the right pics

This is a small but perfect spot to swim and get your feet wet at Grand Lake.
I'd say this spot is best for people with younger kids but it would work for teens as well.
Perfectly situated in the middle of town so while here you sort of have to hit this spot...

Lots of families come here because it has easy access, is protected and there is a small beach and a grassy area as well. Nice Ice Cream place across the street. Kayak, SUP and boat rentals nearby. Parking can be a bit of a challenge when it's peak season.

Knowing that is a mountain lake, did not think there could be a beach so attractive.
Superb views over the lake and mountains.
Well cared for and maintained.
If in addition, time permitting we can swim...
Not always, but better to have a spray antimosquitos.

Cold water at the beach and small beach, but man was it gorgeous! Ice cream/snack shack across from the beach had good food and friendly staff. The marina right on the lake offers easy access for boat rentals, kayaks, etc and reasonable for a tourist destination in my opinion.

My wife was looking for a place to lay out and catch some sun. This is not really a place to do that apparently. its mostly family walking around and people frown upon bikini tops on this beach. it is a very nice place however. great views

Baseing this off the fact that there are very few lakes of note in Colorado and even fewer with a "beach"... this one is great. Perfect view, free, family and dog friendly. It's tiny yes. It's cold, yes. But come on your at the base of the Rocky Mountains. This is what summer is about. Live it up!

Shoulder season but a great visit! Moose and elk were out. Beautiful trails. Lake is beautiful. Might not be summer or winter but still Great

Its a wonderful sight to see ! The crisp mountain water is very refreshing in July and seemingly bitter cold the rest of the year. Watch the blue lipped children frolicking in the snow runoff, whilst in attentive parents drink hot chocolate.

Even though the water is a bit chilly, this beach is a great place to go and have quality family time and a cool dip in the water. Parking can be tight if you arrive during the busy afternoon but it is a great place to spend a few hours.

If you are in Colorado got see grand lake village. Easy accessibility to the lake. Quite lay back vacation beautiful view good food. Great place to see.

Beautiful view, nice place to sit and hang out on a warm summer day. We loved the sound of the boats and kids playing.

A busy beach - boats, people and dogs. The staff were friendly and helpful We used our own kayaks and paddleboards.

There is a small "beach" in Grand Lake where you can kick back and relax, read a book, bring your dog, or enjoy the view. I was surprised at how small it is but I was equally surprised that there even was a beach. It was a very nice and welcoming surprise to see this cute little beach at the end of the town. Also, there are paddle boats nearby you can rent too. Stop by, relax and - Enjoy!

We visited the lake for a few minutes as we were passing through. I grew up here and it hasn't changed other than a few more buildings and road diversions. It was disappointing to find large piles of animal feces on the pier. I have never seen that before. The water was clear and cold in the beach area and the sand was clean.

This is one of the best places to go see the lake and experience what it has to offer. Out of our group of about 15 two of the guys we were with did jump in. It was more of a polar plunge but they did it. We were there in middle June. It was very windy when we were there and thought about paddle boarding but the thought of possibly falling in made us all rethink the idea.

Nice stretch of beach on this cool (temp) lake. In the morning it is calm and glassy, but by 11am the winds whip around the beach, making perfect weather for sailboats. There were a ton of little sail boats manned by kids a couple mornings when we were there. Great to watch. You can rent Peddle Boats right there for roughly $35 an hour. A couple benches on the pier, and tables on the beach make for a good place to sit for a while. It does get cool in the afternoons and early morning so you'll want long sleeves even in July.
Saw lots of kids playing in the sand, but the water is too cool to enjoy a swim (as others have noted). Public Restrooms nearby, as well as ice cream shop.

The area was quiet with not too many people when we arrived. It was so beautiful and peaceful. We spent a couple hours walking and hanging around the area. There is a place for hamburger and ice cream right by the beach.

Very beautiful view from this beach and a nice area to relax after shopping. Very clean, bring some bread to feed the ducks-they are very friendly. A clean bathroom at the beach is nice also.

The beach area is really nice with lots of room to spread out with your things it wasn't crowded the day we went because the water is freezing!!!!! My husband and kids took a quick dip but that was it!!

Hiking, waterfall within a short distance. There are picnic tables for eating and the view is very good.

its free free free - waht part of NON touris trap do you expect, the cafes are reasonable prices, hotels are not since they get nobusiness after summer time , lake is cold not for swimming, boats to rent are available

We rowed in the Spirit of the Lake Regatta as a rowing team then a few of us hung out at the lake for a couple hours after our Regatta. It was a nice beach area. Good park across from the beach for storage of our boats. Rowing around the lake we had to focus on rowing but sneaking peeks at the water front homes, the Grand Lake Yacht Club and the docks was so beautiful. Definitely a more rustic and low key place then summit county. I think it is such a gem.

not much of a lake beach, but you are in colorado. it is rather large in length but not so much in depth. fairly clean. easy access from most of the city. a lot of dogs around so watch for poop.

You can rent any kind of kayak, canoe, paddleboat etc here on the dock at Grand Lake. Beautiful sail boats to watch, paddle boards and fishing boats on the lake. Pioneer Garden is lovely to see and the landscape and mountain flowers were breathtakingly beautiful.

This is a small beach area with a small roped off swim area that doesn't get more than a few feet deep. it would be very good to take small kids to wade in the water but that is the extent of it.

Family fun year round....gotta watch the New Years Fireworks from the beach. Check out the ice cream shoppe in the summer...home made flavors.

A last minute appointment in Estes Park has me staying the night and turning around to go back through the park tomorrow. I got a room and decide to go for a swim. Well... I didn't swim too much. It was more like a plunge. The water was cold. Being July, it causes one to wonder if the water will ever get to a tolerable temp.

Nice but on the smaller side. It was nice to be at beach on a hot day in the Rocky Mountains. Clean beach and familly friendly.

We again visited Grand Lake last week and it was just as beautiful at the last visit, although very busy at the height of the tourist season. Located in the heart of the Rockies, Grand Lake beach is right off main street and easily accessible.

We spent quality time near Grand Lake Colorado and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Great amenities, spacious room to enjoy the lake and plenty of places to stroll the beach, enjoy water activities ad so much more.

Small sandy beach wit beautiful views of the lake. The swimming area is roped off and there is a dock there too. Plenty of picnic tables and a small grassy area with some trees and shade. Get there early as it can get crowded.

Beautiful area. Several picnic tables, Grab a to-go lunch at one of the many restaurants And enjoy the lake up close. Grassy area for play nearby.

Loved this little hidden beach, what a great use of town tax dollars. The park is beautiful, small, clean, well maintained and provides the most incredible view!

Grand Lake has the extra benefit of providing a beach experience right in the town. The lake is beautiful and swimming beach is great. Boats are available for rental which allows people to spend time absorbing the beauty from a different perspective. Very well kept and a great way to

The Grand Lake is simply grand and gorgeous. The beach is cold (water) and small, but who cares when you see all this beauty and kids can still play in the sand. Both the town of Grand Lake and the lake are so inspiring. We spent a marvelous weekend there. The downtown (boardwalk) is really cozy and special, touristy but not as pretentious as other mountain towns of Colorado. EXCELLENT place!

This is not a huge beach, I say again this is not a huge or big beach. The view however, is very nice with the mountains in the background and the marina on the right, it was worth it. You can rent a paddle boat next door or even go on a boat ride around the lake for around $20.00 per person for around 1.5 hours. We went on a slightly chilly day but we still had a great visit. Oh and the downtown is a great place to walk around, reminds me of one of those old western towns.

Very nice view of the lake by the main marina. Use bugs spray as there lots of mesquitos by the lawn. The lake is very large but is the smallest out of 3 adjasen lakes. That said Grand Lake is the more developed of the three lakes with the town a short 2 min walk away.

We walked to the beach several times a day, so much so that we started to make friends with others on the small beach. The locals and visitors are all very friendly. Lots of dogs playing in the water too. Very safe day and night.

Visited Grand Lake Beach. Clean and pristine!
Took part in the boat tour of the lake. Great experience with history/ fun facts of the area,
Back on shore-Great burgers and ice cream!
Loved every minute!!!

We came here every night after hiking all day. This is a small beach area with a short boardwalk and seating along the way. Beautiful views! There is an ice cream place with homemade ice cream - yummy!

Grand Lake is the beautiful water feature that inspires the town and gives the name. On the shores in the downtown district, just outside the west entrance to RMNP, there is a beach and marina where you can get down to see the lake. If you are brave enough to enter the cold water you can swim. In addition, there are boat and paddleboard rentals here for you to enjoy the lake without the cold. Again a beautiful place outside the park.

Grand lake beach is very nice and worth spending some time if you have the time. Can have there a picnic and have a nice walk.

We were lucky to be there on a regatta day - Dragoon Boats were memorable. Kayaks and the boards you stand on and paddle were both in races around 3/4 of the lake - impressive. Followed by the mayor of Grand Lake vs. the mayor of Estes Park kayak race!!
Other days , it was quieter. Sandy beach, cold water for swimming for brave souls, boat rentals, fantastic scenery.

We hiked to Adam's Falls and around Mountain Shadow lake as well as canoeing at Gand Lake and beach. Went to Rocky Mountain Park one day. Awesome restaurants for the whole family to enjoy.

This lake has a very pretty sand beach, yes in the mountains. There are kayaks and paddleboats if you are concerned regarding the cool temperature of the water. Really nice, pretty and relaxing.

Our three-year-old and six-year-old grandson had a blast playing in the sand on the beach…gorgeous it was nice to have a little screen snapshot down the street for a midmorning snack

The beach at Grand Lake is really nice. We rented an Air BnB and stayed there for 4 nights. You gotta go to Grand Lake and enjoy the sun and water or rent a paddle boat or take a cruise on the lake.

Great place to take a walk. Nice views. Sunset is beautiful here. Sit on the dock for a while and enjoy the water. Might even see a moose walking by.

I absolutely adored this park, and so did my kiddo! What's not to love about this very picturesque park. Cute little beach, plenty of tables, marina on both sides for your paddle boat or motor boat enjoyment, plus life jackets loaners, and very clean bathroom nearby and snack shack within walking distance.

A cold water lake, full of fish, boating and kayaking fun, surrounded by mountains. Beautiful dock to sit and soak in the Colorado sun and breathe in the fresh Rocky air. Too chilly for swimming, but dogs and kiddos love it the same. Just a short walk from the main drag in town.

I proposed to my wife on the dock, very cool lake with stunning views and public access. Free lifejackets on the beach available.

Yes, we walked the beach in the winter and took an awesome sunset picture, this place is fantastic anytime of year, amazing views of the surrounding mountains, over 9000 ft in rocky mountains and adjacent to the Southern Entrance to Rocky Mountain Park, There is ranger station near town. Loved the beach in winter, we walked with winter micro spikes to keep from slipping around the area, Snow Mobiles passed one time, they are in heaven in Grand Lake in winter! Fantastic mountain downtown too.

I absolutely love Grand Lake! Stopped on my way back from RMNP. It is such a laid back, cozy little town. Perfect place to stop, relax and have a bite. Views are picture perfect!

Great place for kids. All water sports available. Crowds are there. Water is 55 degrees in summer. Great scenery in the Rockies at 8500 feet above sea-level.

Accessible right along the edge of Grand Lake with parking steps away. The beach has a nice dock with benches, well kept sand area, and a great place to relax with the family after hiking in Rocky Mountain in the morning.

I lovely place to visit and stay before or after going through
Rocky Mt. Nat'l park The lake park and walk along the lake
in the town of Grand Lake, Co. is a wonderful place to relax
and enjoy the scenery of the lake.

We strolled down to the beach at Grand Lake. There were numerous families with children enjoying themselves in the sand and water. Some were lounging on the beach while others were boating and boarding. There were various types of boats and jet skis available to rent. There are a few areas of shade but mostly sunny spot. If you enjoy a beach, it is a nice place.

Very small beach but nice views. Enjoyed walking along the beach area. Enjoyable place to take a walk.

Rent one of the paddle boats for a fun excursion. You do not need more than an hour of paddling to complete your fun or exhaust your legs.

Obviously, you can stay here and there are plenty of hotels/motels/homes, etc. We stay in Estes Park and make at least one trip over every time. This last time we went over, had homemade ice cream shop at the place on the lake, rented kayaks for the boys and sat on the beach and waited for them to come back. You can rent kayaks, paddleboards, boats, etc. If you contact the Grand Lake Yacht Club I think they even have sailing lessons. The shopping in Grand Lake is great too. Lots of local restaurants and ice cream parlors. Cute town.

Grand Lake's beach is a great place for families to enjoy a picnic and swim with beautiful views. You can rent paddle boats, stand-up paddle boards, kayak and boats.

A great place for a picnic and a dip in the lake. The water is a bit chilly even in the summer but still fun. Lots of places to eat and shop within walking distance.

Smallish beach but a nice touch and definite bonus for visiting Grand Lake area with kids. There are several picnic tables and a little bit of shade, grassy area. The kids enjoy building in the sand and wading in the water each time we come here.

Nice, clean beaches with picnic tables for parents and grandparents to watch their kids enjoy the cool, clear water.
Also, have boat and paddleboard rentals very close. Plenty of parking spaces cloe, too.

We love visiting Grand Lake for the quaint wooden sidewalks, the shops, restaurants, parks, and the headwaters of the Colorado River is Grand Lake. The walk along the lake has plenty of seating to relax. Rent a boat, kayak or paddleboard. You can also schedule a guided tour of the lake. There is a beach and picnic area too. The mountains around the lake allows one to watch the seasons change in technicolor.

Enjoy a beach in a small mountain town where children can play in the water safely. But go in the summer months. Water gets cold early in the fall. Often windy as this is a mountain lake.

Grand Lake is such a great place to visit in the Rocky Mountains. The lake is beautiful and the beach is a great place to spend the day, right off the main street and shopping. They also have fireworks for the fourth of July and new years. Be prepared for some cold water!

Great little beach, great views, food across the street. Open green grassy area for blankets and umbrellas - lounge around and enjoy Grand Lake. 1 street off main drag. Kayak rentals right there, kids can swim (if they dare - cold water).

Sit on the bench facing the lake and watch the world go by! Rent a boat or kayak or paddle boat and enjoy the lake!

If you have not been, let me tell you this Beach is lovely. Boat rides, dining, shops a theater, wonderful any time of year. I go here several times a year.

My husband and I had such a great vacation in Grand Lake in July and part of that were the daily strolls we would take along the waterfront. It was so beautiful along the Lake with the mountains right there. We thought it was so charming to find a beach with children building sandcastles and playing in the water. It was just another example of how family friendly the whole town is.

This is such a beautiful area. The lake is so peaceful with people enjoying kayaking, boating, people relaxing on the pier, on the beach, a really lovely spot with great views and not far from the main street at all.

Grand Lake is a gorgeous area, great place for strolling around. The lake itself is beautiful and is surrounded by amazing natural beauty!

We were in the area for a family reunion and took a day trip to Grand Lake. The water was a but cold but the kids still enjoyed getting their toes wet and building castles in the sand. The beach is very small, but also not crowded, with plenty of shade. The restrooms were modern abd clean. Reasonable rental prices on paddle boats, ponyoons, speed boats. Lots of good fishing and plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. We would recommend!

Fun place to people watch on the lake and onshore. There was a great mom and pop ice cream stand as well as a museum and restrooms.

We stopped in this little town after spending the day on Trail Ridge Rd. It was a quaint little town with Beatiful views on the beach. I was shocked at how cold the water was and couldn't believe people were on boats. I definitely wouldn't swim in it as it was far to cold for this Ohio girl but being on a boat would be nice.

This is a small public "beach" with sand, a dock and a swim area. In the summer it is ideal for picnicking and letting the kids role up their pants and dip their toes (water is VERY cold for much else).
In the winter the lake is frozen and this is a good launching off site for snowmobiles and ice fishing. Saturday they had a pond hockey tournament with four little rinks.
Public bathrooms are nearby and a snack and beverage are up the hill at Ponch and Lefty's in the winter.

Kids will love the sand beach and "refreshing" cool water to build sand castles, play in the water, watch the birds, interact with the many dogs brought to the beach, as well as being able to visit Miachi's snack stand across the street for treats or lunch.

The beach and boardwalk area of Grand Lake was beautiful. We rented a pedal boat and cruised the lake. The sights and peacefulness on the lake surrounded by mountains was refreshing. Beautiful lake that we will definitely visit again!

You just can't beat the view, and the food and service is very good too! They have recently changed owners, but the quality and service are still good. A wonderful brunch on the weekends.

Fun day in the Sun. Location has everything you need for a beach day in Colorado. We were able to do some Stand Up Paddle boarding, kids and dogs played in the water at the beach and there was a place to get ice cream near by.

The beach area of Grand Lake is very nice and clean; parking is difficult during peak times but you can easily park in the downtown area and walk DOWN to the water.

We came to the beach initially as a public access to put our kayaks in the water. I was surprised to see there were free life jackets to borrow for water play. The dock was fun, and there was plenty of seating. We saw lots of people having picnics. It’s also within walking distance of downtown Grand Lake so we were able to leave our cars there for lunch.
I’d definitely return for those views!

There were so many dogs in the water which made me uncomfortable with my 2 year old grand-daughter. The sand is more gravel than sand....view is great however.

Grand Lake, the lake? Grand Lake, the town? Hopefully, if you see one, you see them both. Grand Lake, the lake, and the surrounding mountains, and scenery is spectacular! Enjoy and unwind!. Grand Lake, the community, is a quaint tourist fed little town. We entered several shops, and almost without exception, were welcomed and greeted by shopkeepers and locals. Park, walk the main street, as well as the lake front. If your are staying for a week or a month, shop locally and help this picturesque little town survive.

The actual beach area is nice and situated near lots of boat rentals, marina, shops etc. It is very small and probably better for younger children to swim. We enjoyed renting boats nearby and did not go to the beach area because it was too crowded. There is a ton of space to walk around the lake or enjoy it from other areas than the beach. The water was clean with great views but not really a place for a lot of people to enjoy at once.

Now, mind, Grand Lake's downtown is about two blocks but one block from it and down a bit of a hill is this delightful beachfront. Kids. Dogs. Kayaks. All bright with summer spirit. The water is deliciously cold.

Beautiful little beach on Grand Lake. There a boot rentals and a yummy ice cream shop there too! Every time we go it takes just a short time to feel relaxed!

As mentioned by other reviewers here on Trip Advisor, the Beach at Grand Lake is very small with cold water, but the view was stunning and you can't beat the location close to eateries, shopping and plenty of benches to relax and even picnic tables. Dogs are allowed on a leash, and doggie bags were also available to clean up after your pet.
The Beach was clean and well kept and was actually fairly crowded the afternoon we visited, but not many people were in the water, just the few kids who would get in and out rather quickly. Again, the water was cold for average swimmers.
This is a great place to spend some free time on a lazy afternoon and enjoy the scenery. Bring your shades, sunscreen and beach towel; just don't expect a large sandy beach front or warm water.

we walked to the beach and even though it was a bit chilly in May, It was soo nice. The mountains were snow capped but the area nearby was just chilly.

There was just a strip of sand. Rough water in the afternoon and very cold. Park adjacent was nice though.

What a surprise, a beach in the mountains!
The Grand Lake is a beautiful natural lake nestled on the western side of the continental divide. It sports a very nice, small beach area where kids can splash (though water very cold) and families can picnic under shade trees. Well maintained public restrooms are very close, and an ice cream parlor is handy too. Come and enjoy.

This is a great place to bring your kids and let them play in the water. You can even take out a peddle boat at the marina next door. There is a great ice cream restaurant there too. Bring along a picnic lunch or watch the sunset and fish.

What a surprise this little town is. Very appropriately nicknamed "The Western Riviera" we came over from Estes Park and spent the day. Nice shopping, people watching, you can rent a boat, we saw a Bull Moose. Beautiful lake, beach, great little town.

We rented a home close by. Our group decided to make it a day to go shopping and our youngest wasn't into window shopping. A quick walk down to the beach was worth it. The view is gorgeous. Even in August, the water is cold but very refreshing. Being from the midwest-the scenery is just breathtaking.

This is a great place to go and splash around in the water or sit along the bank and watch the boats, mountains or people.

We spent several years going to the beach while our kids were in theater camp.Delightful little spot but the water is COLD

The lake located in a small nice peaceful town, there are lovely houses and mountains surrounding the lake. It's a great place to enjoy a kayak, canoe or paddle on the lake

This beach gives you even more to love about the mountains. Here you are right at the foot of the top of the world Rockies , and yet you can rent a paddleboat or pontoon to enjoy this spectacular lake. Next time I will have us all wear bathing suits to take a dip. The place is very clean. Just be careful because the sand can be bumpy at places. I could have stayed here all day and maybe next time we will!!

Cute small beach with picnic tables, the water was fairly chilly in August. You may rent kayaks, boats, paddle boats to take onto Grand Lake. Lots of fun! There are small chipmunks in the area. They're cute to watch.

If you are looking for a large beach this isn't it. My wife and I did enjoy sitting by the lake several times, at this beach. It was very clean and well maintained. It was really for small children.

Beautiful place for a stroll, with views that are awesome. Its a little sad, the last few years, that so many of the evergreens have turned brown. But, that is just nature taking its course. The lake is still gorgeous.

We wouldn't have gotten in the water, but loved sitting on the benches in the park area. It's across from a great museum and shopping. The beach is right between boat rentals and small.

We had a group of 15. Ages from 2 to 65. It was nice to sit at the beach area and just relax. The kids played in the water. Lots of stuff to do. Paddle boats, wake boards and more. We had an hour before dinner. Lots of close parking and a nice clear area.

This is beautiful, no doubt. I would give it a 5, but prefer the Estes Park side of Rocky Mountain National Park and their lakes the most

The beach on Grand Lake is a relaxing way to spend time with friends. It is NOT huge, but is family friendly with a laid-back atmosphere. A really great snack shack is right across the street as are restrooms. Need a break from the routine? Kick back on this beach and enjoy the mountain views!

Great swimming and nice beach. Our kiddo had a great time making sad castles with three other children she met at the beach. Of course Grand Lake is beautiful and this beach is right in the edge of downtown so it's a great location. Walking distance to everything.

What a magical spot in nice sunny October weather. Our grandkids waded in shadow mtn lake while we enjoyed the view. An added bonus was the playground across the street. Beautiful and relaxing. Stop, sit, and soak in the beauty. Rent a boat if you can
Man it's cold
My husband and I took a little stroll down to the beach to check it out. It's a nice little beach, but man the water is cold. So cold only people under 10 years old would swim.LOL But seriosly it was a very nice place to kick back and relax. Beautiful scenery.
