So much fun! Just go. You won’t regret it. We saw/participated in Inspector No Clue’s Murder Mystery Show. Wish we had time for another show!

By Kristina Allen |

This show was so fun! Interactive with the audience, funny without being corny and the actors were great. I would do this again if I came back to Charleston. Highly recommend for your 'to do' list in Charleston.

I've enjoyed the Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theater twice now, and both times were quite enjoyable. The ticket price is reasonable and the entertainment is always fun! My only "complaint" would be the seating is a bit cramped, especially if you're not slim/trim. Wouldn't keep me from going back, however. Everyone there is wonderful and engaging, even outside the performances.

We saw 2 shows - "Murder at the Redneck Reunion" and "Help! I Think My Characters are Trying to Kill Me!" Both were extremely funny and well done. Lots of good, clean laughs. Would have loved seeing all the shows, but ran out of time. We'll worth the time and money!!

My husband and I saw the Inspector NoClue’s Murder Mystery show and it was so much fun! We had NO idea going in that there was audience participation involved and we were very pleasantly surprised! I highly recommend volunteering for a role at the beginning- it makes the experience SO much more fun! Even if you’re introverted like us. The cast was talented and engaging. Very good at delivering their lines. Family friendly fun!!! ALSO they have the most reasonably priced food & drink in all of Charleston. Only $5 for alcohol :,)

By Stacie B |

A friend & I recently heard about this place so we thought we would check it out. The wait staff was friendly, nice selection of drinks & desserts. Parking garage is a 5 minute walk. The cast was wonderful! We loved how you could volunteer to play a part in the story. So much fun! We will definitely return for a different show in the future!

This was a very fun and entertaining evening. We laughed and the time flew by! The cheesecake was excellent!!! Highly recommend for adults and for families with older children that can sit through a two hour program - but reserve your tickets - they sell out fast!

By Debra J |

This was, hands down, the highlight of our trip to Charleston. My only regret is that we weren't in town long enough to attend all of the current shows!

By rebelee |

Fun for the entire family. We came with our 10 and 12 year olds. They said they wished we had something like this back home. It was a great last night to our Charleston vacation.

And thank you for having a gluten free dessert for our gluten free kiddo! It was the “icing on the cake” so to speak.

By dgrave69 |

My wife and I took our 3 children (aged 15, 13 and 12) for a red neck murder mystery night. We had such fun! The space only allows for a small audience which makes it nice and intimate, with everyone getting involved. We could also order food and drinks which made it even more pleasurable. A fun family night out.

By Vacationeer_9 |

Had read the reviews and we were eager for a great time. We actually witnessed three people get up and leave before intermission and one more person leave before the ending of the play.
The play was so poorly written that it didn't make sense and it wasn't even funny. The thing that made it super fun were the audience members who participated in the play. That was great.

On the snacks, drinks, and desserts: The apple pie dessert was wonderful, the chips and sauce were cold.

Great fun. Highly recommend if you are in Charleston. Actors were great. Lots of audience participation. …………………………..

By Fran M |

What a fun night we had! This is an audience participation theater, but no one is in any way forced to participate. I had the opportunity to participate as Aunt Pauline and several in my group also participated. We had the best time and laughter for the entire time. Laughter is good for the soul, so our must be I great shape Thank you so much for a wonderful night.

Great show with a funny cast! We went to Black Fedora on our one year anniversary trip and had an amazing time! It was an interactive show with audience volunteers and funny cast members. It is a small crowd so it feels much more personal. You are greeted at the door and get to work on a fun scavenger hunt while you wait. We saw “Murder at the Redneck Reunion” and we’re laughing the entire time!

Honorable mention to Crystal who was a great server!

By ttspears |

We enjoyed the play! Very entertaining! Also, the dessert was to die for! I had the warm caramel apple pie with ice cream which I shared with my friend. My other friend had the Chocolate chip with ice cream! So wonderful, huge size too! You have to have one when you good, you won’t regret it!

By MountainGoats2 |

This is not a fancy theater experience, or fine dining, but if you want to just laugh and have fun try this out. We had a great time there on Valentines Day!

By Jodi P |

This was a great off the path little theatre. The audience is involved and my family loved it. My husband and 16 year old had parts in the play. Very intimate.

By pkandinov |

After reading reviews i wasnt sure what to expect(some loved it ...some didnt) but i took a chance and we LOVED it. Audience participation made all the difference. This is the first time i attended such show and if im ever back to the city i will make sure to visit them again.

By GBashsmith |

We came to Charleston at my daughter's request, her high school graduation trip. The first thing she said we Had to do was visit this theater again. It is an absolute treasure of the city and we Always have a great time! It's never the same. Thank you for making her trip great!

By daynasu |

This was our most favorite part of our vacation. We didn’t know what to expect and half expected it to be cheesy, but it was just perfect.

The theater itself is pretty small but they make good use of the space. Not much room for distancing at all. The booths along the edges had plexiglass between them, but the center tables are pretty smooshed together. And that’s the absolute worst thing I can say about the evening. Everything else was complete perfection.

We haven’t laughed this hard in a long time. We did the Redneck Reunion and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants to forget about the world and just have a good time for two hours.

They offer reasonably priced apps and desserts and drinks. It’s all just really nicely put together.

There is quite a bit of audience participation. Might as well volunteer for a small part (they give you a partial script and tell you EXACTLY when you need to say your lines, and how to say them), because you will be dragged into the action one way or another. Almost everyone participates in some way. It’s hilarious and not awkward at all. Loved it!!!

Our evening here at the Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Showcase was filled with laughter. The shows here feature a cast of 4 plus 20 volunteer actors from the audience to fill out a mayhem themed night of sleuthing the scene of a murder. The entire script was riddled with clean jokes, puns and ad libs. It was a hoot. The volunteer thespians added a degree of variability to the show. Families roared with laughter as people stepped out of their seats in characters that surprised those who knew them. The room holds 50-ish people so wear your masks ( vaccinated or not)! @BlackFedoraTheater #BlackFedoraTheater #FamilyFun #LaughTilItHurts

It was not my first time, and definitely not my last! Great laughs and lots of fun. We celebrated our anniversary here.

By Shannon H |

The highlight of our weekend vacation in Charleston! This small venue was the perfect atmosphere for a fun evening. My two kids, both teens, volunteered for a role and had a blast. The audience, the actors, and the wait staff were friendly and funny. I truly appreciated that they offered a clean (but not juvenile) show. We laughed the entire time. My only regret was that we purchased our tickets for the last night of our vacation, because we all wanted to come back for another show. We will absolutely return on a future visit to Charleston.

By sparksboys |

In a city filled with so many "things to do" and phenomenal restaurants, who would have thought that the highlight of our vacation would have been this amazing small theater? Such a great experience...so much so that we booked a return trip to Charleston just to bring our family here. Highly recommend.

By Debbie S |

Great show! Great cast. Great audience participation! Very funny! Must see if your downtown. Bring your suspicious mind.

By Vernman |

Not your typical theater experience. Very small space with no real stage. Shows are scripted but with a audience participation. Don’t take it too seriously and it’s a fun evening. Light snacks, beer, wine, and soft drinks available to purchase at reasonable pricing. Participation isn’t required and they didn’t have to push very hard to fill all the roles.

By Mike |

Great fun for the whole family. The cast is very talented and the audience participation makes it even more fun. All ages were involved and it was a great way to spend the evening. Our son lives in the area and we will be back. Black Fedora hat tip to the cast and supporting team! Thank you

By Lynne M |

Fabulous way to spend an evening. So entertaining. So much fun. Anyone going to Charleston must put this on their list of things to do. Lots of laughes!

By Kim L |

It was so fun and interactive! My 15 year old boys even enjoyed it, and they hate everything! We all got to play small roles, and it was really engaging.

By Tania M |

The experience was great and the acting and audience participation was amazing too. It is something to remember for sure.

By Mel C |

A very entertaining comedy act that involves audience volunteers. What a hoot! If you want a good laugh, watch hilarious actors, funny participants, and relax with drinks and snacks, this is a must see!

By jmb5138 |

We recently attending the Sherlock's other brother by a southern mother show and it was a riot. The small audience and audience interaction made for a fun atmosphere.

By Mark S |

Charleston has A LOT to recommend it as a place to visit, and we stumbled into yet another reason - The Black Fedora, "comedy mystery theater". It is a storefront venue that features home-grown, audience participation whodunnit plays and reasonably priced tickets. Food and drink also available for purchase. The performance we attended was led by four staff/actors with lots of energy and humor. They quickly involved the audience, enlisting most of the attendees to take on roles, handing out scripts, explaining how it all would work - and it worked great! Everyone had fun, the secret thespian/ham in the audience participants quickly came through (actually most did an excellent job). The two hours flew by. Definitely recommend this as a worthwhile investment of your time and money.

Doing a world cruise from the UK our 2nd stop was in Charleston, so I emailed to find out details and from that moment on they couldn't have been more helpful.
A few days before leaving my wife had an operation so might need frequent toilet trips, so they put us adjacent seats.
Upon arrival in Charleston at around 5pm we found the location and when the owner (Daryl?) saw us looking through the window came out and introduced himself before telling us what time the doors would open. He also told us a little about the local area that we could visit in the short time prior to the show starting.
Arriving back at 7pm we were made very welcome as we were shown our seats. The drinks and 'nibbles' were very nice and quite inexpensive.
Part of the show involved audience participation, which I was 'persuaded' to join in with! It was hilarious.
On conclusion the actors and other customers were all very receptive with one lady giving us their prize of a fridge magnet for guessing most of the sleuths that were displayed around the walls. Her comment was - 'for our guests from across the pond'.
All in all it was an excellent experience - thanks guys and long may your shows be successful!

By Kimberly Burns |

What a fun night! Our family, with teen, pre-teen, and young child, had so much fun with a large room of strangers! The cast really got the volunteer actors excited to participate. This was such a fun night and the desserts are delicious! Thank you for the one of a kind experience!

By Bailey M |

My wife and I attended a 7:30 showing and it was a perfect ending to our honeymoon in Charleston!!! If you’re someone who loves theatre, cheap laughs, and being a part of a show, this is for you! It’s a fun outing for both couples and families as the show does ask for volunteers to read from scripts which make it’s even more memorable and adds laughter!

We will be coming back to another showing when we get the chance to!

By Linda R |

This is a WONDERFUL experience !! You must go !! We laughed so hard the entire production of Inspector No-Clue !! And everyone is so nice. We accidently arrived an hour before we were supposed to. With 2 ladies with bad knees, I asked Crystal if we could just sit somewhere out of the way & she brought us to some very comfortable seats that we were in during the production. Some places wouldn't have cared & turned us away. We are very thankful she didn't. The food was pretty good too with lower prices than we thought. So all in all, it was a fabulous evening.

By Steven R |

We had a great time. Great atmosphere that is inclusive to everyone in the audience Excellent way to spend an evening!

By Jill M |

Very funny experience. Much better than watching a movie. Desserts were surprisingly good. Would definatly Riley come back again.

By jakeandtara |

So much fun. So creative. The story was funny and the dessert was yummy. It was great fun. The whole night was full of laughs. Great show, if we got the chance we would go again. Awesome.

By S S |

What a fun night out with friends and the interaction of the audience made it even more fun! The experience was well worth it. We would definitely recommend The Black Fedora!

By Patrick S |

We had a great time! So glad we came. The cast was fantastic and loved how they involved the audience in the play. If you are looking for a fun way to spend. Two hours while in Charleston, this is it.

By Kathleen B |

What a fun night full of hilarious fun! In a world where so many “comedy” shows depend on vulgarity; this was a treat! Thank you to the team and to our talented audience! Chewbaca deserves a “sidekick of the year award”!!!

By kerry f corcoran |

We wanted something different our last night in town and we were happy to stumble into the Black Fedora. If you like plays, good stories, a good laugh and hilarious audience engagement…..make a stop. We were able to get tickets the day of and had a wonderful experience. They serve drinks and some light snacks.

By rosef11154 |

I wasn’t expecting such a low quality show, especially for the cost. The Audience is the major part of the show. There are only 4 actors and the rest are audience participants; holding papers and reading the scripts.
The venue is extremely small. No stage
so the show goes on all around the tables in the sitting area. The staff admitted this was due to high RE costs in Charleston.

Pros: the people who participated seemed to really enjoy it. Many were very good. Some lost there place, spoke too quietly etc
And some lines in the play were entertaining.

This is mostly my fault. I saw 4 stars and didn’t read reviews. Obviously some folks are willing to pay a lot of money to participate in a play. I was expecting more of a dinner theatre experience.

By Betty R |

We had no idea what to expect and had more fun than we could imagine. The audience participation was awesome. The actors were hilarious and VERY entertaining. We would highly recommend this to everyone! It is definitely a “must do” in Charleston!!!

By Y6194MFedwardp |

My husband and I went with another couple while visiting Charleston and we had a great time. It was interactive and we had such wonderful audience participation, that really made it enjoyable. The cast was very welcoming and high energy. Waitresses were very efficient. Good time had by all!

By debra p |

This show of seriously poor so called actors relied primarily on the audience. Handing out scripts to the audience to read was the substance for the majority of the show. At one point, the paid staff left the stage and relied solely on the audience to continue reading the script.

By pixiestix |

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Charleston. Our group had a great time at the Black Fedora Theater. We participated in the play and haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Thank you to the cast and fellow audience members for the great experience in Charleston. Would highly recommend!

By Charlotte P |

An enjoyable experience - not just for couples, but also friends and families from tweens to grandparents. Cozy atmosphere & clean laugh out loud fun.

By DIANNE J |

This is a theater where there are few in the “paid” cast with the audience filling in the rest of the parts. We had an absolutely fun filled evening! 2 of us took part in the play and everyone who said they would do a part played their roles perfectly. Ours was “ ......The Gin Club” and there were about 20 extra parts. This comedy who-dun-it was well written and cute. You could tell everyone had a good time.

By Jennifer B |

My husband and I were looking to do something fun on our last night in town. We found this on trip advisor and had a blast. I would definitely recommend this and suggest you to participate.

By Karen W |

I was in charge in finding things to do while In Charleston; so I did some research and by far the Black Fedora comedy mystery theatre was the best thing we did while we stayed in Charleston!!

The actors were funny and personable! If you like a live show and you have a sense of humor…..go and check it out …. You won’t be disappointed

Myself and my friend volunteered to read lines and become part of the show and that was so much 🤩 fun !!!

By Twin2009 |

This was something different with 15 year old teens! Tight space but customer service was awesome! Appetizers and standards drinks good for the show setting! Located around city market and parking not too far. Great show for the price! Hope they expand as time grows for them!

By T L Hardin |

This was FUN! A unique approach to a comedy whodunnit that encourages audience participation. They don’t gouge you with their food and drink prices either. Friendly wait staff and funny entertainment. Great evening of fun!

By Shelly K |

This comedy mystery was a hoot! I went there, along with four of my cousins, as part of our annual reunion. The actors were hilarious and the play kept us laughing during the entire show. I would highly recommend this experience for the whole family! You won’t be disappointed!

By Deb Z |

Very funny. Actors are engaging. Small, intimate venue. Reasonably priced, good value. Good time. Would recommend it.

By zp0pba |

Had a fabulous time!!! Well worth the time, it was so much fun! The cast and crew did a great job to make sure it was fun for all!!!! Be a part of the show!!!!

By Alexandra S |

The comedy mystery theater was a delightful experience for our family – hilarious, engaging, and thoroughly entertaining. We all had a wonderful time participating and are eagerly looking forward to going back for more laughs and mystery-solving fun!

By Barbara C |

This was a really fun, lighthearted evening! Lots of laughs, including audience participation in the show. Casual, comfortable, affordable, and the volcano cake with ice cream was the best!! I highly recommend this for a fun activity in a lovely city!!

By Marlie F |

I saw an ad for this in a travel book and decided to give it a whirl. It was such a great decision! The show was hilarious, including the audience in every aspect, which made it even more hilarious. This would be even great for families with school-aged kids. Clean fun and lots of laughter!

By Alan W |

We went to the 8 pm April 4th show and it was actually a lot better than I expected. I don't know if they are just really good actors or if they truly love doing it but it definitely looks like they enjoy what they do. It was entertaining. We will definitely be booking another show with them next time we visit Charleston.

By Loretta M |

We had so much fun and laughter at this play. The audience participation just added such a fun element to the play. The actors looked to be having as much as the audience. They were very adept at enhancing the audiences skill levels. This was a highlight of our trip.

By CaminoCFrey |

My husband and I were ready for some belly laughs and there were some to be had here. The food looked pretty good too, especially the chocolatey desserts!

By Janeth O |

My family enjoyed a great evening at the Black Fedora Mystery Theatre. The show was fun and entertaining. The actors were engaging and energetic. Being able to watch and participate in the show was so much fun. It is a family friendly place and we would definitely go back again! A great way to spend an evening.

By Mark S |

This is a real gem. We were not prepared for how much fun we would have when we stumbled across the place just walking around the area. Got tix on a whim. Turns out these 4 actors create a fun activity for 2 hours and engage the audience throughout. No time for boredom, you are part of the fun. Great fun, great desserts. A shoestring budget and an Armani suit of fun. Just go! Support local theater. Price is a bargain.

By Tracy S |

OMG! What an epic time! Hilarious. Amazing. Fantastic. We were laughing so hard it hurt! A must see.

By JFG |

What a fun, unique experience! Intimate venue, interactive and fun staff. Very engaging and fun for our whole family (including a teen). Appetizers and desserts (very reasonably priced) were available. Innovative theatre concept and very enjoyable. Highly recommend as part of a visit to Charleston.

By Roberta W |

A fun night out with friends. Audience participation is important and this audience did not disappoint! Drinks and snacks are reasonable, the cast was friendly and entertaining. Service was great.

By Connie Trusnovec |

We totally enjoyed!! Audience and Staff were great! We’ll be sure to visit this Mystery Show again when we come back to S.C.

By Eric G |

Lots of fun. You can volunteer to take part or just sit back and enjoy. Desserts and drinks are entirely optional, no pressure to buy, and very reasonable. Our group was age 12 and up and everyone had a great time.

By ChloeSydnie |

My friend and I went and had an outrageously fun time! We laughed so hard throughout the night our cheeks hurt. The audience participation is the soul of the show and their energy that night was phenomenal. And yes, the script is kept simple so everyone, no matter their level of reading aloud experience, can participate. I am already looking forward to going to the next one! Fun for ALL ages!

By Steve D |

The Black Fedora is equal parts comedy, mystery, and audience participation. We had so much fun, we’re going back tomorrow night.

The mystery is different, so we’ll get a surprise, a lot of laughs, and try out the chocolate lava cake.

By Mary B |

Lots of laughs, good acting from the actors and audience, very friendly, great food, great prices and casual (best part). Very cozy atmosphere with tables close together and the resident actors/owners keep the whole audience engaged. Had a fantastic time and will return. This is coming from Washington, DC, where I attend some of the world's finest theatres. Can't wait to come back.

By Edward C |

Great time. If you are trying to see a show and they are sold out, email them. If they have a cancellation and if they have the space for your group you just might get in. It worked for us. Family of 3. It was a little tight but totally worth it. Be sure to tip the server’s generously because they are doing some great work as well. Would definitely see another show again.

By Kimberle S |

The place is cute, the staff are wonderful and the concept could be fun, the majority of the cast is audience members,ànd they all did an excellent job,(better than the 4 house players in fact) but the script was awful! It felt like they were reading a 4th grade paper, instructions for which are "write 8 pages", so the wise 4th grader uses very large letters, repeats themselves, and double spaces...The play is based on the theft of a gem, and a cat loose in a museum. For the first hour the thieves bumble and museum guard chases a cat (guard runs around yelling, audience member/cat is meowing: she did a great cat, but...) I We're pretty go with the flow people, but by the time intermission arrived all we could think is this is an hour we'll never get back.

By GardenCItyTraveler |

Great way to spend an evening in Charleston. Entertaining, funny and engaging. Inexpensive refreshments and small bites and well as dessert. Highly recommend.

By Hannah R |

This was just the experience I was looking for. It was fun, it engaged the audience, and it had some real laugh-out-loud moments. I would definitely see another show here!!!!

By She'll |

We are fairly local and have seen most shows multiple times. Audience participation is a must. Great laughs in an intimate setting. Fun for all. A must do if your downtown. Located right by the market. Stop in and enjoy the show.

By Curious54027872894 |

The club is small, as is the staff. But, the service is outstanding The comedy performance was excellent, and the troupe was very good at soliciting audience participation. Much fun was had by everyone there! And the prices are reasonable! A can’t-beat combination.

By Cheryl C |

What a great time! We found this place while exploring Charleston on foot, made reservations, and had an evening of belly laughter. Audience members volunteer to play along with the four house actors. We had an absolutely fantastic time and highly recommend this for a light hearted, no vulgarity, night of comedy. We laughed so much.

By Terri Balchen |

If you have the chance, then GO! If you don't have the chance....go anyways!
But be sure to volunteer for one of the parts. We are still talking about it and what great fun we had!

By Jeff P |

A very good way to spend an evening in Charleston…or any city for that matter. Lots of fun and laughs! We will be back for their other shows.

By scott |

It was a fun show. The actors did a great job, as well as the participants from the audience. It starts off slow, but gets better as the show goes on. Definitely something to consider to make a unique traveling experience.

By Josh Coffman |

My wife and I had a Great time! Was very funny and everyone did a great job. Would definitely recommend and will be back soon. Thanks guys for making us laugh.

By everlyba |

The murder mystery play was hilarious. Tons of audience interaction. The actors were really good and some of the audience members were too. I would highly recommend this place. If I lived in Charleston, I would go here all the time!!!

By Roam06132145786 |

Fun time! Well run. Funny story. The main actors did a fantastic job. Bringing in some of the audience to participate was done well and brought extra life and jokes to the mystery story.

By T H |

Great show. So much fun. We have attended two shows. We have teens who love the show. Great date night or couples night out kind of place too. Audience interaction is key. So quirky.
Highly recommend. Oh and refreshments at really reasonable prices ;).

By James C |

Had a great time. Fun participating. Reasonable prices. Very engaging staff. A little corny but everything was done right.

By StephenCross |

The Black Fedora Comedy Show is set for all ages. Really enjoyable on all counts. Great cast, including most of the audience. Food and drinks all reasonably priced as was the ticket price. Owners and cast were very accommodating as we were on the wait list. This is simply a great fun event and moderately priced for a family. Great fun and strongly recommended. Book in advance !!

By Travellingdoc |

Decided to book a ticket as passed it while exiting the hotel- the French quarter inn.

It was a interactive performance with the audience taking part! A really fun night good to do in a group.
Could be fun even if your travelling solo.

Something different whilst in Charleston.

By susanmil |

My husband and I went to see Inspector NoClues Mystery last night. What a great way to spend the evening. In an intimate setting 4 cast members and volunteers from the audience presented a Clue like murder mystery with a lot of laughs, improvisation and just fun! And in the end you get to try to solve the mystery. Relax and just enjoy, you won’t be disappointed!!

By David L |

Wonderful experience! We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary in Charleston for 5 days and this was the best time. Alot of laughter and an all around good time. Would recommend this to anyone and wish we had more time to see the other shows.

By Tamara L |

We went to the Mack Black show. There is a large amount of audience participation with lines. It was awesome!! We had a blast! Fun for all ages & groups. Not a bad price for a show. Light apps, desserts, drinks, and bar a la carte. It is NOT a dinner theater NOR the dinner prices. Small & intimate. We enjoyed it so much and it was a much better show than in Orlando and much cheaper. I would suggest for friends, family, co-workers, etc. They are super nice & fun!

By haskelljam |

The show, "Murder at the Redneck Reunion" was a HOOT! We had so much fun watching the audience's participation with the actors. Even my husband got in on the action playing "Grandpa." Inside this cozy theater, anyone can become an actor and be a part of the story giving each performance's audience a unique experience. You never know what's going to happen next, but one thing is for sure, you'll be laughing!

By Lewis S |

You must participate, it is 90% of the enjoyment. I didn't think I was going to volunteer for a part, but after my wife and daughter received their scripts, I had to raise my hand. Participate and have an enjoyable two hours.

By Christine T |

This was so much fun!! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was entertaining and our friends had a blast! We would definitely return

By melanie brown |

If you are looking for an original way to spend the night and have lots of laughs to boot, then you must buy tickets for Black Fedora. What an utterly creative and amazing concept! I thought this was such a brilliant way to spend an evening and it’s very well executed given that a room full of strangers come together and act in a play they have never seen before! If you go, you really must try and play a part, you will be given a script and very clear instructions on when to do your bit and the audience are everything. The setting is intimate. You can order drinks and dessert at your table and the whole thing is run like clockwork. We had a fabulous time. It has a really nice feel and it’s such an original way to spend an evening doing something other than chatting at a bar. If you are in Charleston, you have to go!

By Melody C |

My Mother, sister cousin, and I took a family trip to Charleston and we were looking for something new and Souderton to do. We had an absolute amazing time! Small intimate place but well worth it! I was lucky enough to get an amazing part of the play! I got to show my acting skills, or maybe the lack of those skills! We all had a fantastic time and is now a definite on out next trip! Highlight of our trip! The actors and staff were awesome

By Wayne H |

A great idea for a night out. Family or for adults only. Actors made it a lot of fun for everyone- the audience particpates in the mystery drama action. Lots of laughs for a good price - great location on Church Street.

By Pat S |

I enjoyed the atmosphere, characters, and plot of Hey! I Think My Characters Are Trying to Kill Me. As an author, I could connect with the main character's plot dilemma—great and witty performances.

By noproblemIpavaIL |

Never laughed so hard! Inspectors No Clue was fantastic with interaction with the audience participants. He was quick whitted and clever with all his comments as play unfolded. All the cast members were funny. Hilarious evening not to be missed. Wish I lived in the area so we could go again and again and again.

By Fred V |

This was an amazing experience! I have never been to audience participation theater and you blew my mind! The actors were fantastic and the snacks and dessert were so tasty. Will absolutely come back!

By Candy301 |

We just returned from the Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theatre. I wanted to write a review while the evening was fresh in my mind. What fun!! We didn't know what to expect but the four actors and Crystal, our outstanding server, helped unravel any mystery about how the evening was going to unfold. Those who wanted to, volunteered to read parts of the script to participate in the telling of the Redneck Reunion murder mystery. No pressure if you didn't want to do that. And if you did, the instructions and queuing of your lines were well outlined. The actors were awesome. They didn't miss a beat in their lines to facilitate the entry of the volunteers. And there were some great accents and nuances coming from the audience to make the evening fun and engaging with lots of laughs. Thank you Darryl and Sherry for bringing this entertainment to Charleston.

The "Charleston" Lockwood's (wink, wink)

Attended The Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theatre on our last evening in Charleston. What a great way to end our trip! We enjoyed being part of a fun group of patrons who zealously participated in the show. I highly recommend this charming little theater!

By Buffy P |

This is a great place to go!!! We had such a blast! Love the layout of the room, the staff, the size, the length of the show, the admin fee(I think they can increase it, honestly!). I had a part (cousin Shelby Joe) and my husband was a backup dancer. LOL
We will definitely bring friends and family and come back again!!! Ya'll were great!

My wife and I attended a performance of The Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theatre while visiting Charleston this week. It was a very entertaining experience. It is a small, intimate theatre with voluntary audience participation. The staff and actors were very friendly and entertaining. We enjoyed lots of laughs and had a very entertaining evening. The script was PG-rated and was suitable for older children. The theater offered drinks - soft drinks, wine, and beer and an assortment of desserts and snacks. Our only disappointment was the quality of the dessert we chose - the hot volcano cake.

By tfleming75 |

This was fantastic! It's an interactive show that involved many of the guests. Some people really got into their part which made it even better. They provide you all the instructions and cues--my kids participated and had a great time. The story is funny and the staff is great. It was a fin night out and something different from anything we have done before. They have some snacks and drinks available. I highly recommend.

You will not regret visiting. Please give this place a chance we had a ball!!!! 12 Year old twins absolutely loved it. We will be going back next trip.

By TravelingQueen |

Limited number of seats, make sure you make it to this one if you are visiting Charleston or just looking for a fun night. The staff engages all audience into a plot of murder mystery in the funniest way possible.
Our entire family including our two teenage daughters were part of the act and we loved it.
Don’t miss it.

Amazing experience!!! The atmosphere was so much fun, the hosts were warm and funny, the performances were genuine and the audience interactions were phenomenal!

By yek531 |

The theatre, actors, servers and audience were amazing. Such a diamond in the ruff. We didn't really know what we had signed up for, but what a surprise. Such a great night, the actors were hilarious, the games were clever, food and drink wonderful. Plenty of audience participation, lots of laughs would highly recommend going if your in Charleston.

My wife and I were in Charleston with some friends looking for something to do the night before our cruise. My wife found The Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theatre on Tripadvisor and we decided to book our tickets.

What a great time the four of us had. On a Sunday after Thanksgiving, this theatre was packed. The staff, actors and audience all made this comedy mystery a fun and memorable experience.

By Douglas C |

The actors were funny. It was at most PG rated, which was a good thing for our group of six. The chocolate lava cake and ice cream were delicious. I got to be a part of the speakers from the audience and that was fun. It is a small, intimate setting and very easy to a lot of the downtown attractions. They were very accommodating to my 92-year old, mobility challenged mom. I would see another of their shows if ever in town again.

By Mike |

Simply phenomenal. What a great venue and even better show. We saw Inspector No Clue’s Murder Mystery Show and were in stitches from the beginning to the end. The cast and audience participation was great.

By niceandcoollesbian |

Really awesome time, all the actors are clearly passionate about their work and really funny. I bet the shows could totally depend on the audience participation, but this audience was great too, and everyone in the room was in high spirits after we got warmed up by the cast. Also, they have 30-something pictures of detectives on the walls and they give you a sheet to fill them all out with- our family had a lot of fun guessing who they all were while we were waiting for everything to start. I’d love to come back again!!

By Sue K |

We went to the Black Fedora on Thursday, March 7, 2024. It was a very small, intimate theater. We knew it was “interactive” but we all decided we were going to just sit back, enjoy the show and not participate. Before long 2 of our 4 party group volunteered and one of us got the non- speaking part of the “sicko”. We had a blast and laughed the whole time. You definitely get into the enthusiasm of the cast. Oh, and the drinks and snacks were good too. At the end, the cast/staff greeted and talked to everyone on their way out. I love good local theater. If you do too and you’re up for stepping outside the box a little, this will be a great night out.

By Katie L |

We went to Charleston for our honeymoon and this popped up as something to do while there. We liked it so much, we ended up booking a second show that same week!! The actors were funny, the stories were great and the staff were all beyond kind. My husband and I aren't too outgoing but we decided to participate anyway, so glad we did! It is definitely a good time and we HIGHLY recommend!!

By Andrea S |

This was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done on a vacation! Aside from the beauty and great food in Charleston, The Black Fedora was definitely a highlight! I would recommend it to everyone, and I would certainly return again.

By Dclarkson |

The comedy was stellar. Great audience participation. My friend and I saw “the McAlister family reunion”. I highly recommend this venue. You will laugh yourself to death. I will definitely be going back in the near future to see another production.

By Cara H |

Highly recommend this! You don't want to miss it. We went with 2 other couples and had a great time. The actors were hilarious! We laughed the entire time!

By Excursion782215 |

What a wonderful way to end our night! On our trip, my daughter surprised me with tickets to The Black Fedora. She even volunteered and had such a fun time interacting with the actors/actresses. What a great night for everyone involved! The whole crowd had a ball! We would highly recommend and do this again when we are in town next time.

By Linda E |

Tremendous fun! A small cast of enthusiastic actors on stage but the unexpected best part was the audience participation. They ask for volunteers and hand out mini scripts, and boy do some folks do a great job! And others just have fun... Limited menu but very reasonable prices. We enjoyed it so much we went back later the same week to a different play. Definitely recommend!

By malaykah |

This was cute with family (3 kids ages 7-15)and memorable. The actual play was a bit hard to follow as the southern accents were played so heavy. But it was fun to participate. Even my 7 year old had a part dancing in front of the crowd. It was truly adorable and some parts were funny.

By thetravelorganizer |

The Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theater puts on audience-interactive comic mysteries most evenings for $27/adult, $25/12 and under. A small cast of professional actors is complemented by audience members who choose to play a character using provided scripts. Reasonably priced drinks, munchies and desserts are available for purchase before the play begins and during intermission.

By Harrietmk |

My sisters and I went to the Black Fedora for a show, "We Three Thieves". We had such a good time. The actors and the staff were so friendly and made the experience a blast.

By Karin H |

My daughter (18) and I visited the Black Fedora for something different to do during our first visit to Charleston. The actors (& audience participants) were entertaining in this comical play. The audience was ages 18-70's. Mostly groups of 4-10 and couples. I highly encourage garnering your courage and come in with a positive attitude and consider being one of their volunteers as I think that increases the enjoyment of the show. I think coming as a big group would probably make the experience better as well. Show was quite clean; although, not sure if it would have held the attention of children younger than middle school (story kind of jumps around a lot). Definitely worth a visit if you live in Charleston or are visiting.

By Chris Z |

Had a great night out with family, the audience participation was off the charts wonderful. So many participants got into their characters and made the whole experience so much fun. The script ("Redneck Reunion") was one of their best so far!

By Oh Danny boy |

We attended a Friday night performance and had a great time. It was fun watching how those in the audience that were selected to participate took on the character roles. You are not pressured to participate and it is up to you. It is a small venue which made it nice as the scenes are acted out right in front of you. Food and drinks are available for a fee.

By Dawne B |

A must do when in Charleston!! The show was amazing and the atmosphere was wonderful!!! It is 2 hours of laughter!!!
It is also wheel chair friendly!!

By Tearsa S |

What a great night! We laughed so much and will come back again when we visit Charleston in the future!

By unhappy Local |

This show was amazingly funny!! The storyline was so cute and how neat it was to include people from the audience to play a part! It was written with much detail about ordinary and played out fabulously! It was definitely worth the price and was SO entertaining!!

By wvmtmama |

audience participation murder, mystery, comedy. a great night out. a small,(very small) maybe 50 guest, locally owned play house, a dream come true for the owner & his wife

By KCanty |

We enjoyed the entire show. Loved how they used the audience for parts in the play. We will be coming back.

By Renel L |

This was my fifth time to The Black Fedora Comedy Theatre and I was new to Charleston. It is the best event in the Charleston area period! There is audience participation that really makes the show. It is an intimate area, so no problem with hearing and feeling like you are part of the show! The actors are very skilled, hilarious actually! We drove up from our new home in Florida to see Mack Black! Checkout the guy with the neon green suit and his sister, we were highly entertained!

By a-travelin-foodie |

Such a fun evening, even just as a couple! We were unsure about adding this on a short trip, not wanting to miss a big dinner or something more particular to Charleston, but maybe this should be particular to Charleston! How much fun and we've never seen anything else like it!! We laughed the whole way through and one of us participated (and it was a hoot!) and for the other of us (who has ZERO desire to participate), was not at all pressured and truly enjoyed the watching! We had an early dinner elsewhere, and that worked out perfectly - this is just drinks and super basic snacks.

By ReneaMacko |

Great show! Had a blast would highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed. It was a great audience interactive comedy nursery mystery show.

By Cgm R |

Great fun! Relaxed theatre show with maximum audience participation. Great for preteens and up. Script is great! Even my 12-year-old participated!

By Gary H |

Awesome. This was our 2nd time there & will surely go again, if we are back in Charleston. We LOVE it!! Gary& Sue Haywood, Danville,Pa

By dsbe83 |

Absolutely great entertainment! Humor fine for family event! We attended Mack Black: Ghost Detective and had a blast!

By Summer H |

We had a wonderful time at Carin Jack’s Flapjack Shack. Yes the comedy is a little silly and slapstick but that is part of the fun. The staff was wonderful and we loved the audience participation. The employees actors were entertaining . The script was simple, but that’s is exactly what we expected given the nature of these productions. It always for the audience participation. If we are I Charleston again we would go back.

By needmorevacations1 |

This was an awesome event. We had so much fun and will definitely go again. The audience participation added so much humor. Redneck reunion is a must!

By oilcoach |

So much fun! We saw Sherlock’s Other Brother. It was playful, funny. Plus, there’s audience participation. We had a great time:)

By Steven R |

After our first experience at The Black Fedora we gave it another go. Besides it has been along time since we went to a family reunion. The whole concept of audience participation in a play is imaginative and well executed at the Black Fedora. This time even my wife took a part. We have a wonderful time at our "Redneck Family Reunion". We will be back. Great job guys.

By Elizabeth V |

What a great evening with my 13 and 16 year old kids! The cast was so funny and engaging, and my kids really enjoyed participating as volunteer cast. Actually, so did I. We enjoyed the desserts, and the laughter. I can't recommend this enough as an activity to do with teens while in Charleston. I will remember this evening forever! Exactly the kind of moment I was looking for on vacation with my teens, who can be kind of hard to reach (typical teenagers.)

By Kerribear17 |

This event was such a fun evening! We had ages 10 - 71 and everyone enjoyed it so much. My kids definitely want to go back. Laughs all around. We did the Inspector Noclue. Staff was friendly. The audience had great participation too!

By Daniel G |

Really fun and different evening out. Very entertaining and good vibes!

By Andrew |

We weren't expecting to find a place like this; we were walking down the street and the merchandise in the window looked cool. They have some awesome board games and other cool merchandise based on Sherlock Holmes and other detectives and suspense figures. They also put on live shows; we watched and participated in an original Sherlock Holmes mystery. There's only a handful of actors; most of the (small) parts are played by audience volunteers. I ended up in the role of Dr. Watson for this play, which led to a bit of embarrassment as I had to do some ridiculous things in front of a large crowd of people. It was a lot of fun. You can feel the love the owners have for this unusual business venture.

They really pack in the audience; there are some chairs (like one of ours) that are not in great locations, with a poor view of the "stage." It's a small space that they try to utilize, but there's a lot going on. The food is nothing to write home about, just some light snacks and beer bottles.

By Christina H |

We had a great time. This was a clean comedy show that kept my attention. We had a ball laughing for over an hour. I had a wonderful lava cake the best I ever eaten. Jon had a apple dumpling that was great. This show and dessert were well worth the money.

By Kim C |

We loved every aspect of this experience from entrance to exit. Reservations were super easy online. We were greeted and seated promptly by a cheery hostess and she explained the evenings simple agenda. We were served chilled drinks and delightful desserts. We had a great time, the show was hilarious, and will definitely catch another show when we are back in town.

By cmhall9 |

Great night of entertainment. Cast was fun. Loved the audience participation. Great date night. Would recommend.

By kirsten c |

We had a great evening at the Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theatre over election weekend. The show was interactive and very fun with audience participation. Patrons were very entertaining in the portrayal of their respective characters which made for a fun filled experience with lots of laughter. The actors who also helped staff the kitchen and bar were talented and engaging. All the more impressive was the fact that the owner wrote the script himself. Being mystery and detective show aficionados, we loved the guessing all the characters whose portraits are on the walls. Well done! Highly recommend the show!

By Zautman |

I brought my wife here because she is a huge mystery fan, but we were both disappointed. We saw the Redneck Family Reunion. The best part was the audience participation, but we were both disappointed. We were hoping for a legitimate mystery, but the mystery seemed like an afterthought tacked on. It mostly was a Hee Haw sketch that was stretched out to 90 minutes. If you think 50s sitcoms are the heigh of comedy then maybe you will find this funny, but I never cracked more than a smile.

By PV |

This murder mystery meets comedy club was pure entertainment through and through! We had a pleasant surprise in store for us- as it was totally interactive show! Audience members were asked to be volunteers for different parts! It was so much fun to have different amateur actors match dialogue to dialogue with the professional actors throughout the play :-)
Loved that it was totally clean. You can take your whole family easily.
Highly, highly recommend! It will be the feather in your Charleston trip cap!!

By ashaleethomas |

This "hole in the wall" comedy club is a spot that many tourists pass every day due to it's central location, but once you step inside, you'll find a show full of laughter, audience participation, and wonderful entertainment! We saw the No Clue show on a Sunday night and the quaint spot was filled with an audience ready to have a great time! There's only a few "real" actors and the rest of the scripted parts are given to some audience members. You can order drinks, snacks, and desserts, and all looked very appetizing! If you're looking for something to do after dinner one night in Charleston, I'd highly recommend!

By FarAway360243 |

Loved our experience at the Black Fedora! The cast was great and captured the audience in the fun and witty story of Murder at the Redneck Reunion. Participation by audience members was off the charts! So much fun!

By Christine C |

Don't be shy. Volunteer for a part. It was a blast!! Bring yhe whole family. The cast is fun and friendly. Close intimate area but NOT jammed together.

By Marlene J |

Funny show with audience participation! Hilarious crew and great experience. Food and drinks available too.

By Kendra H |

This theater is small but mighty! It was cozy, engaging, funny, and smart. First time to South Carolina and it was so hot, my friends and I wanted to do something inside. This show was funny, witty, and the audience participation is not intimidating, but motivating. I played two parts and felt welcomed, part of the action, and that we were all (the audience and actors) having fun doing the same thing. I would for sure recommend this theater for anyone visiting Charleston. It's in the historic district, many things to do and see before the show. They serve desserts and drinks and it was such a fun and unique experience!

By Javier Alverson |

Very enjoyable show. I love seeing local theatre acts. They also had affordable and tasty food to eat during the show too.

By C R |

The act was amazing and they let the audience act with the actors. The scrips the give you is easy to read and follow, plus you can eat and drink while watching the actors perform

By Harvish |

Had a great time this evening!! This is a fun, funny, audience participation type show!! Very relaxed and fun atmosphere.

By Luke |

We saw "Inspector NoClue's Murder Mystery Show," and it was fantastic! We had so much fun. Next time we're in Charleston, we will be returning.

By Torrey G |

If you love great entertainment and love to laugh, The Black Fedora is a MUST see in Charleston! We had a bus group of 33. Sherry was fantastic to work with. She helped us pre-book our visit months in advance, responded to all our questions and made sure our experience was exceptional. We had the best night of clean entertainment, fellowship and laughter. It was a trip favorite and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

By nantz |

The high energy cast and participatory audience were excellent! Good story, funny lines. Well worth an evening in Charleston.

By Monta B |

You can’t miss this one! It’s one of the most entertaining spots in Charleston! My sisters and I went on a Wednesday evening and just had such a fun time. It’s interactive and the cast are a talented few that make the whole experience such a wonderfully fun one! Be a part of the play… or not! Up to you but you can’t miss this fun little endeavor. Get your tickets now for a barrel of fun that won’t break the bank!

By katie M |

We didn't know what to expect upon arriving, and when asked to be part of the play, everyone at our table declined. (Which is totally acceptable, they won't randomly call on you either. You have to volunteer!) The play itself is pretty basic, but it's hilarious when you through a bunch of inexperienced people in the mix. We had the pleasure of watching a great group of volunteers.. I laughed so hard. I do a ton of local theater back home in Steamboat Springs at the Chief theater.. I'm totally going to suggest a similar structured evening like this for the theater, cause it was such a blast!!! Also, $5 giant pours of wine.. after a week in Charleston of over priced drinks and small pours, I was excited for this!! The lady kept calling on my father in-law, almost like a random shout-out.. the funny part was, she kept calling him Shawn. At the end he went up to her and asked how she knew his name... And she laughed saying, "that's really your name?? I just guessed something!!" ... It totally made our night.

By Tom J |

Our second time at The Black Fedora and it was fun. The play was goofy with audience participation only adding to the comedy.
Will be back again next year.

By Howard G |

Don't be shy and raise your hand to be one of the many audience members who become the cast! So much fun. So many laughs. What a treat! We went with our 12 and 14 year old kids and it was perfect. Enjoy!

By Krystal turner |

I love how the audience was included, and the comedy level was on point! Servers and actors were awesome, and my family had a blast celebrating our daughter's 16th birthday here.

By Mandy |

This was the most fun!! The cast was amazing and hilarious. They brought the mystery to life and having the audience involved was the best!! If you are in Charleston, I highly recommend The Black Fedora!

By RHewett |

Absolute ton of fun with excellent food, great ambiance, and friendly staff.
The show was laugh-so-hard-your-face-hurts funny. The interactive side of it certainly adds to the fun, and you'll probably see that most of the people really throw themselves into their roles. They get some people in the crowd that add as much to the show as the pros.
The food was very good, and at incredibly reasonable prices ($1 for a bottle of water). All of the staff was very friendly, and the location was clean and comfortable.
We're hoping to do this again. My wife would actually open a franchise if it were an option.

By Carolyn F |

Great time celebrating our anniversary! Pro actors and volunteer audience members act out a mystery play. It was a blast! When we get out this way again we will definitely put The Black Fedora on the top of our list of things to do!

By Curtis N |

Awesome! So absolutely fun! The audience participation was second to none! It is a must experience place!

By Steve R |

What a great experience. Enjoyed the show plus we all had a part in it. Different from anything we have done in the past, but we will definitely go back again. A great night of entertainment at a reasonable price. You will not be disappointed.

By Valerie R |

Oh my goodness, we had so much fun at Black Fedora!! We saw Sherlock Holmes Brother From Another Mother and it was incredibly funny, interactive, and such a blast!! We all had so much fun, it’s a MUST DO when in Charleston!!!

By PATRICK S |

This is a fun, audience-participation theater. The play is original snd entertaining. Photographs (no flash) are encouraged. The performance takes place amid the audience so it is a very cozy theater. A fun evening.
After the performance the cast are available for pictures with the audience.

Seating is at bistro tables with snacks, dessert, and drinks offered for reasonable prices. This is a "BYOB" theater but that might be tongue-in-cheek for "bring your own body".

There is a nearby pub for those wishing to continue the fun after the show.

By nancyaC5 |

This was the first time that my husband and I have been to a theater show, we had so much fun!! I love how they engaged the audience in the show. The actors were great! If we were not going back home ( we are from Virginia) I would go to there other show the next night. The price is reasonable. We had so much fun that I am looking into finding a theater were we live.

By 24Beeb |

We had a very fun evening at the Black Fedora in late Feb 2022 while visiting Charleston. I encourage you to participate and coax out your acting skills (or not) but in any case, it's so fun to try. Even the guy who kept missing his cues was funny. If you enjoy a good laugh, a great ice cream sundae and a few drinks, go and enjoy! Good for all ages. Especially loved the kids faces when they watched their mom or dad participate, and had kids participated too! OK, it's not esoteric or philosophical or even a high school play, it's just fun to go.

By Barbara W |

The show was great. It was funny and smart. The prices were very reasonable and the service was fantastic too. All around great experience. Highly recommend

By Cat |

We loved everything about this show. We did not know anything about how this show was going to be done beforehand. Loved the pre activity. Loved getting the audience to serve as supplementary actors. Can’t believe that the show could be done with only four actual actors. The show was super funny, suitable and relatable for pre-teens to adults. Food was very tasty and service was excellent. Although not your typical play, this was 4 stars all around.

By mortgagelady500 |

Different and original. Very entertaining. Felt the kindness and sincerity of the actors. Lots of fun with audience participation

By Brigitta C |

They had lots of good food and drink- though you should get a meal beforehand because it’s not a full dinner menu. It was a fun story, it kept my whole family engaged for 2 hours so I see it as a win. If you’re going to Charleston I would recommend stopping by, it’s a blast!

By Terry K |

Awesome program. Very funny and very family friendly. The desserts were excellent. Highly recommend.

By Aidan D |

It was incredible and amazing. Writing is brilliantly funny if your a fan of Mel brooks or month python. 10/10. Seriously try this place out and you will not regret it.

By Gjhgirl |

Just got back from a show at the Black Fedora. It is soo much ft!!! They get the audience involved by reading different parts. A fun and inexpensive entertainment. Well worth it.

By Eppi1954 |

Instead of retiring early to your hotel room, go to the theatre! It was hilarious, simple, and fun! They rely A LOT on audience participation. It's an intimate and comfortable setting. They have a very limited, but tasty and reasonably priced, appetizer and dessert menu. They also have a mini shop selling mystery games and such. Very fun and very worth it!

By Smita L |

Went with my parents who are seniors and my niece (teen) - all of us (3 generations) enjoyed the show. Audience participation and the way the team of actors invites and includes everyone (that wants to) Is amazing! Shout out to all the actors and especially to Jamie- great performance and lovely sense of humor! We are visiting Charleston and this is the best. It’s the highlight of our visit so far. If you are local(or not)- this show is not to be missed.

By Short O |

Intimate location with live interaction between cast and audience participants. Audience cast members become part of the play. Laugh out loud funny and over all good time. Some food available and some alcoholic beverages, tea and sodas. Will be back!

By Scott |

My family and I had a great time at the Black Fedora. We went to the Sherlock show one night and had a blast. We enjoyed it so much that we went back two nights later to see the family reunion show. Each time one member of our family participated, including my teenage daughter. It is a nice family experience you will remember.

By CathyK |

Fantastic evening of clean, good fun! The theatre is quaint and pretty, cast is wonderful and talent! Audience participants were hysterical-one of the actors took my flip flops🤣 We will definitely be back next year!

By Wander50639718363 |

Fun and interactive show that immerses the audience as part of the show. The actors have a great time and the audience enjoyed being part of the story.

We will definitely come back for another show.

Food and drinks were reasonable priced and the intimate venue makes for a wonderful evening.

By Rod J |

This is a really fun place to spend a couple of hours. The audience participation completely made the play, Cast was great and the production suited the intimate atmosphere of the room. The plot kept us guessing the identity of the murderer until the very end. A highlight of our visit.

By Don M |

What a fantastic show! The actors delivered their lines so well and its enjoyable for the entire family.

The audience participation really is a great wrinkle to the performance. Highly recommend.

Love the detective clue game before the show to give you something to do while settling in.

Great time!

By Susan J |

We had done quite a few of the traditional activities in Charleston, South Carolina and was looking for something new and different. We chose The Black Fedora Mystery Theater, right in the heart of the historic district. We saw the fun play entitled “Sherlock’s Other Brother by a Southern Mother.” It was an audience participation event and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening!

By Deonne C |

We love this place. We have been here the last two years on our way to Florida. The staff is friendly. The show is always so funny. The owner is wonderful. It is a must do.

By LysaAlex |

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Light hearted fun for all ages. Staff keeps you entertained during the whole time with games and audience participation. Most enjoyable venue while in Charleston, S.C.

By Kevin R |

First time to the Black Fedora and certainly was a great experience
Small space made it an intimate time and the actors were very funny
Loved being involved and enjoyed everything

By Steven R |

I wasn't sure what to expect when I made reservations for The Black Fedora, and I wasn't prepared for a fun filled evening which exceeded our expectations. We arrived early on a cold rainy night. We arrived early and talked to one of the actors. It turns out to be an audience participation who dun it. I agreed to do a part and was given the best part from my perspective or at least I made it fun. Hallelujah! I actually sang part of lines. Something different for everyone.

Highly recommend. Join the cast and read a part. My wife and I plan to return and do the other plays offered.

By bigfinklefan |

This place is awesome!

I went with my wife and we had an absolute blast! We saw the Professor NoClues Murder Mystery show.

Many from the audience are volunteer participants and have lines to read during the performance. It’s VERY fun!

Impressive improv, creative ambience, high energy, and so many laughs.

You can tell that the owner is a genuinely nice person too…which made it even more fulfilling to know that we were supporting his “mom n pop” style small business.

Can’t recommend it highly enough- just a really good time. And great for such a wide variety of ages.

Thanks for the entertainment…(and for not pulling too hard when attempting to remove my shoes during the “nobody” scene given my ankle injury from earlier in the day having fallen off a horse…insert eye roll haha).

Bravo to this team!

By Tom J |

Actors were very fun! If you don't have anyone that wants to participate still worth coming (But participation is a big draw and encouraged)

By Clark Warnock |

Seeing my 11 year old Grand-daughter so excited about being part of the play. the audience had at least 15 speaking parts during the play. They all left their shyness at the door. it made for a delightful family evening. The deserts and appetizers were very tasteful didn't hurt the evening either.

By FellowTraveler717744 |

Great show with lots of audience participation and fun. Highly recommend for all age groups. The staff are all kind and make the show very enjoyable.

By J W |

What a great place to go after dinner. They have appetizers, desserts, beer and wine, and softdrinks.

The audience gets to be part of the show given scripts to say lines while the actors guide us through their play.

I saw the My Characters are trying to Kill Me mystery comedy.

The lava cake was good and the entertainment was top notch. Highly recommend!

By kateted |

The is a fun, interactive experience in the heart of the historic district. You have to like corny comedy, but who doesn't for one night? Everyone looked like they were having a great time when we were there. The paid actors and staff worked hard to keep everyone engaged. The audience members are seated at small tables. The food selection of appetizers, desserts, beer, wine, and hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks were available for purchase You start with a 'can you identify this person?' matching game when you are seated which is lots of fun. You should consider including this on your bucket list of things to do in Charleston when you visit.

By Wayne A |

My wife and I love interactive theater and Black Fedora was among the best things we did on our visit to Charleston. What started out as a very rainy day, that rained out some of our plans, was turned to a great day when we found this little theater in an online search. Ticket prices were very reasonable, as were the prices for snacks and drinks. They even had a delicious gluten-free dessert. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, bringing my wife and her wheelchair in though a side door to avoid the 2 steps up from the main entrance. The show was a lot of fun and very amusing and well written, allowing for many of the audience to participate by taking parts. The audience scripts have clear instructions and encourage the volunteers to "get into" their roles (which we most certainly did) The only negative thing I can say is that we live so far away (N.J.) that we won't be able to go back for a while.

By lilwendigirl |

Dad and teen daughter date to the black fedora was a big success. Not only was the show a hit but they said dessert was good too!

Fun evening. The pre show detective picture quiz gave us something to do before the show. The show was well done with audience participation. The staff actors were engaging and made everyone feel at ease. The food options were good and very reasonably priced.

By kathryn w |

This was our second visit. We were here 2 weeks before Christmas. And now New Years Eve. The room is small, but because it's an interactive show it has to be. Snacks and drinks for every taste. I'm disabled with walker. And both times they accomadate me. Help me to my seat, then stores walker in bookstore/cash register area. You will not regret the small ticket price and you will laugh your funnybone off.

By Alyssa C |

We had SUCH a great time!! Nonstop laughing! The cast was awesome and our audience "cast" was also fabulous and everyone really got into character! It was a smaller theater but just perfect for the show...cannot wait to go back for another one!

By Deirdre K |

This was my second time at the Black Fedora, and I'm sure it won't be my last! I had a great time. The cast was fabulous, and the audience participation was outstanding. I'll definitely be back again. And knowing I'm supporting a small local business just puts icing on the cake.

By NinaKEsq |

We went to the Black Fedora Comedy Mystery Theatre with out-of-town friends and had a blast. The comedy was light and clean and fun--a perfect way to end a day of sightseeing in Charleston. The staff was super-friendly ... and you could see how much the owners, Darryl & Sherry Wade, love this business! The shows change regularly, so we will definitely be back.

By wendymD5731JB |

What a fun show! Great intimate atmosphere and the audience participation was engaging as well as hilarious! Drinks and snacks were fabulous and very reasonably priced. Overall, this was a wonderful evening and a lot of laughs! Would absolutely do this again!

By KTK |

My daughter and I LOVED this! It was so well done and so much fun! From the detective game you play while you wait for the show to start, to the end when you’re trying to solve it…so many laughs and auch a fun night out! a very memorable experience! Thanks for a great night out with my teenager!

By Liz-RonB |

We thought this would be fun and weren’t disappointed. Small floor space is ‘stage’ and acting takes place among the small tables setup for guest. Guests volunteer for parts in the production which seems awkward but as many appeared to be return visitors, it went really smoothly. The ‘service’ of beverages and snacks or dessert went smoothly and the chocolate lava cake was great!

By Aaron C |

This is a dessert and drinks comedy show. They have a small but very good appetizer menu and beer and wine. Prices are great. You are asked to be part of the show if you want to be. We laughed the whole time.

By robertrC3199BC |

We had a fantastic time and a most entertaining evening. Our son and my wife received scripts for parts in the mystery play and they nailed it. All the other guests in the theatre wo got parts also nailed their characters. So much fun. Every seat has great view of the stage. We loved it.

By Paradise50512442761 |

The Black Fedora is an excellent family friendly night out. Ticket prices were very reasonable along with the price of drinks and snacks. The cast was friendly and talented. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and hadn't laughed that much in years. It was a true pleasure wish we could have made a second performance they do not have shows every night so plan ahead. The audience members have parts and are part of the show. The show is suitable for youngsters as well, go and enjoy.

By Erika W |

We saw "Murder at the Redneck Reunion" and really enjoyed the casual atmosphere. Just about everyone at the show became part of the show and we shared many laughs! Highly recommend!

By Mike |

OMG!!! We booked a show without really knowing what to expect and were absolutely blown away. It was that good. Great cast and love the way they interact with the audience. The audience members that got to participate really made the show. Great lines and the perfect amount of interaction. This is a hidden gem of Charleston. I can’t wait to see another show. Simply phenomenal!!!!

By Dbev |

The Black Fedora may be tucked away in a small space, but the crew excels at warmly welcoming guests at the door and finding them a seat. The cozy atmosphere adds to the camaraderie that develops throughout the night among the crowd. It's advisable to have dinner before the show since the tables are small and it can be challenging to enjoy a full meal comfortably. However, The Black Fedora does offer excellent appetizers, food, and desserts, alongside a selection of wine and beer. I highly recommend prioritizing a visit to The Black Fedora when you're in Charleston, SC. The staff consists of incredibly talented creators and actors. It's also worth raising your hand and volunteering for a part in the mystery, as I was amazed by the number of skilled customers who attended and fully immersed themselves in acting and developing their characters. It's a truly fantastic experience with a great team!

By Marie w |

The interaction with the audience was fantastic- we had a great group of people that played along well. Not disappointed

By Carolyn A |

The play we saw was audience interactive and was so much fun! Would definitely recommend this theater!

By Beth F |

What a fun night. Lots of laughs. Audience participation ONLY if you volunteer. Affordable. Great location. Not to be missed.

By 01ritz |

Wasn’t really for us. Other people seemed to enjoy it. We thought it was kind of hokey. Some people were WAYYYY to into it that it made it a little weird. Guess there is something for everyone.. just wasn’t for us. Seats were uncomfortable and I was freezing the whole time.

By Larry D |

One of the best times in Charleston! One of a kind experience that is fun for all ages. The audience participation makes every show unique and uniquely funny. Cast was top notch as were the drinks/food. I have not laughed this hard in a long, long time.

By CWillison |

Laughed so hard my side hurt! Delightful entertainment with some amazing actors. Appreciated the clean humor and the mystery storyline was easy to follow. Well done!

By Sarah D |

Such a fun evening!!! The play was very funny and interactive. They have a light menu but what we ate was pretty good - especially the chocolate lava cake. The room is pretty tiny and they get lots of people in there…we found the arrangement to be uncomfortable at first but the closeness of everyone added to the overall experience. There is plenty of parking across the street and make sure to look for the sign “Performance in Progress” before opening the door. I didn’t do that and ended up interrupting in the middle of the whole right before ours!

By Richard G |

A small local theater company where you are part of the show. Fun for everyone, even if you bring a teenager that thinks this is going to be stupid, they will walk out with a smile on their face.

The actors are a fun group and the theater is small and quaint.

The food is exceptionally good and reasonably priced

By Lyne Fletcher |

We laughed so hard our cheeks hurt when we left. Soooo much fun! Don’t be shy, take a script. Somehow, they match the parts to the audience. Definitely recommend! We can’t wait to go back.

By Dana B |

We had such a great time, we came back the following night for another show! Very fun time. Great interactive show!

By Incog82 |

The most fun I've had at a theater, we laughed our asses off! This totally MADE our vacation! I can't recommend this enough, participate!!! You will regret it if you don't!

By TerryLu |

What a fun unique theatre with audience participation. Employees very friendly and accommodating. Easy to see & hear. Storyline was fun and easy to catch on!! And no bad words For a nice change. Snacks & beverages priced very fair. We shared a $6 Chocolate Volcano which was large and delicious. It’s a mom & pop business, the building is very clean and nicely decorated. Definitely Go you’ll have a blast.

By Holly G |

Highly entertaining, funny, interactive, engaging, and fun! Small, intimate theater that allows audience participation (voluntary), interaction and engagement.
Hubby and I had a lot of fun and are so glad we got tickets while we were visiting Charleston. Highly recommend and something we'd go to again! Loved it!

By Tony D |

It’s a must do when in Charleston. Funny interactive and extremely entertaining!!! I highly recommend the venue.

By blaineyblue |

We really enjoyed this it was very entertaining. The audience participants were so good they could have been planted. You can order drinks before and during intermission. Food options are snacks like chips and salsa.

By JJBandCAB |

Went to see "Murder at the Redneck Reunion" last night. It was a blast! Fun, approachable cast and a lively audience. Highly recommended!

By MrsP |

Oh, my goodness! This experience was SO MUCH FUN! We all agreed this was the best thing we did during our entire 4-day stay in Charleston. It was as interactive as we wanted it to be - accommodating both the introverts and extroverts in our party. We laughed so hard with cast, volunteers, and audience members. The Black Fedora will DEFINITELY be on our itinerary next time. As a bonus, it's an arts oriented small business, totally affordable, and we come away with wonderful memories. Thank you, cast and crew of the Black Fedora! ❤️

By NCCurlygirl |

It was an enjoyable experience. Very engaging experience. Time flew by and the audience was fully engaged. Would go again!

By virginiab10550 |

Good fun! Silly "plot" written for audience participation. Very much enjoyed the relaxed family feel. Prices reasonable.

By Nick W |

We really had a great time. If you go and aren't expecting Broadway (because it's Charleston, SC) and are able to go with the flow, then you will have a fantastic time. I'm not the kind of guy to volunteer for things or goof around in front of folks, but they suckered me into a part and it was a blast. I highly recommend, unless you are the type of person that doesn't often laugh and are always looking for the bad.

Oh and EVERYTHING else in Charleston was closed because of a storm, but these guys made it in and performed fantastically.

By Linda H |

This is our 4th visit and we are never disappointed. The shows are hilarious. It is obvious that they enjoy their job. The location and times are very convenient. The food and drinks are a perfect complement to the show.

We tell all our friends visiting Charleston that The Black Fedora is a must see.

By MaggieH118 |

We wish this group, concept and scripts could be sent to more cities. Having some audience members participate as characters was a great idea. They all did good jobs, but seeing how their friends enjoyed it, made it special. The script was very funny. And the four actors did wonderful jobs. We want to come back here to see another play.

By Alyssa M |

A great way to spend an evening! Delightfully campy and fun. Be prepared for audience participation! I would definitely go back to see another show.

By Rowerbabe |

This venue is such a hoot! Lots of audience participation and laughter. I highly recommend this theater for a change of pace and a more local feel in a great southern city. Very friendly staff and small but good menu of deserts and drinks.

By Chris D |

This was an excellent way to top off our day in Charleston! We went to the show after dinner had some dessert and laughs. Go ahead and book the tickets!

By digiacomosteven |

We attended the Sunday night show over Presidents’ Day weekend and we had a terrific time. It’s an interactive who-dun-it comedy play with full audience participation. The actors were really good and very funny. I guessed the person and the weapon but I missed the motive. We will definitely return and try again.

By Joe D |

This was a very, very fun night. The show is very interactive for audience members who want to participate. The theater is small and intimate and filled every night so make reservations. We went twice the week we were in Charleston and almost fell out of our chairs laughing. You will not be disappointed.

By Gary G |

Wife and I really enjoyed it. Lots of audience participation. Food and beverage prices very very reasonable. Will go again next time we are in Charleston

By John K |

Interactive "play" with energetic actors/cast of characters. Don't be shy! Join in the fun and you will have a great time. Nice activity to do while in Charleston.

By Francis P |

I have enjoyed their shows in the past but this time encouraged friends to join me and we ultimately bought out a performance. Everyone was great to work with and we even suggested who some of the audience should be involved as characters in the mystery. Lots of laughs. It seems their actors have fun and love interacting with the audience. They have the timing down to a fine art too, with very accomplished servers can take drink and food orders tableside before the show and during the intermission and then collect payment just before the mystery is solved - by audience participation. It is a fully engaging show masterfully directed by the actors and a fun night in Charleston.

By Kenneth M |

We went into this club on a whim, and when we drove home, my 11 year old said it was his favorite part of our trip to Charleston. The show was so much fun for our entire family (mom, dad, 11 and 8 year old boys), everyone was laughing. It’s definitely something we will do again in Charleston to see their other shows.

WE LOVED IT.

By Chris L |

So much fun! If you’re looking for something unique, interactive, and funny, this is it! The characters who work there are so nice and entertaining. We will definitely go again if we’re back in Charleston.

By Pioneer199854 |

Lots of fun. Great atmosphere and very entertaining. Be ready to participate with a fun cast and enjoy some laughs. A nice couples activity.

By Tour497548 |

We got tickets at the last minute for date night. So glad we did. Lots of fun interacting with the cast and laughing along with the rest of the audience. Will be back for other shows.

By philruff |

Fun! My wife, myself, and my mother-in-law went last night. We had a blast. Never a dull moment from the time we got there to when we left. We arrived as soon as the event opened, which is 30 min before the event started. This was a good call because there was a game at the beginning that kept us busy until the show began. The staff is friendly, they wore masks when not acting, and most people entering wore masks. Food was limited, but good - I had buffalo wings and my mother-in-law had hummus/pita. We all had wine. Honestly, it is probably better to avoid the food so you can maximize attention on participation. Ensure at least one person in each party is willing to ‘volunteer’ to participate - it is worth it.

By luvrson |

Quaint atmosphere, fun guess who before, loved having a part to act out and watch other patrons act. Actors interacted well with everyone even if they didn't have a part. Cost was reasonable.

By John B |

Volunteer to play a part, makes it much more entertaining. The cast was great and server did a great job, cost was very reasonable

By jean-claude |

So much fun. Audience participation was HILARIOUS. We saw " murder at the redneck reunion" . It was so enjoyable that we are talking of going back tonight for a different show. Drinks and snacks were very reasonably priced . We HIGHLY recommend.

By Michael D |

So much fun! Great date night; got to participate as a volunteer actor... lots of laughs and yummy food!

By deborahmG3532US |

We visited The Black Fedora for my birthday, the interactive comedy was well written with lots of references to popular culture. The four actors worked well together and interacted often with the audience while ad-libbing throughout the script. We saw "Mack Black, Ghost Detective*, each of the actors embraced their role and truly became the character. The audience members who participated in the play were very well matched to the character they portrayed. Erin, the server was very good at keeping up with the number of guests, and the appetizers and desserts are very reasonably priced. The cheesecake with strawberry sauce was luscious and the Chocolate Volcano cake with vanilla ice cream was to die for, (I didn't even give my husband a taste.) We are looking forward to returning to see the other productions offered by the cast. If you are in the Charleston,SC area, don't miss out on a great time of fun and laughs at the Black Fedora.

By Heather S |

So much fun! I laughed more honest laughs in the 2 hours we were here, then I have in a very long time. The prices for food and drinks was the cheapest of any place we have been in Charleston! Go see this show early in the week so you can go back for a second show!

By Florence H |

Awesome fun for the whole family. My daughter (9) loves going there. She loves to be part of the show. We plan on going again SOON !

By Dave M |

What is a trip to Charleston without a little murder? This is the BEST murder mystery theatre I have found in all my travels. This review is from a writer/director/actor of murder mysteries for many years. This operation knows their stuff and handles the audience interaction, comic timing, and hospitality VERY well. Get your tickets early because they sell out. Fun for all!

By Craig & Vicki W |

Great evening of fun!! They hand out scripts (very easy to read and follow) to anyone willing to participate. I was the werewolf and had fun howling! No acting experience needed, just a fun heart. At the end of the show we all guessed, who was the killer? Also, appetizers, desserts and drinks were very reasonably priced. Highly recommend for an evening of laughs!!

By Deidra M |

What a fun night! We loved the audience participation! Everything was reasonably priced. What was really special was how we arrived during a downpour and they had towels waiting for us so we can could be dry and comfortable during the show! How incredibly thoughtful! This is something I’d recommend to anyone coming to Charleston!

By Gator58 |

So fun! Right next to our hotel, the French quarter inn. Small venue interactive or not as you choose. They offer light snacks& drinks

By JR A |

This was one of the coolest, funnest activities I've ever done! So entertaining and absolutely hilarious! The actors were amazing! This is a MUST DO!!!

By traveler53719 |

Our group of five enjoyed the interactive nature and intimacy of this setting. We had some wine during show for a reasonable price and did not feel pressure to buy anything. It’s super close to the market (market street) and is conveniently/centrally located. Getting 15-20 minutes early is adequate and they had our group assigned seats so no worry about staying together.

By AnneMarie E |

We were given a gift certificate to attend a 'play' at the Black Fedora and really had no idea what to expect. What a delightful evening. The way the cast is able to utilize the audience as part of the over 'cast' of the play was entertaining and amazing. Very well thought out and executed. Also, we had a bite to eat before attending, but there was actually food served that would be plenty for a lite meal and reasonably priced as well. Definitely worth going to.

By Melinda H |

I found this by chance through Tripadvisor and was so glad I did! My kids were reluctant performers at first (teens!) but then loved it, as did the adults. So entertaining, and the food was great on top of that! I loved the small setting and how accommodating and friendly everyone is. I guess if you had an audience full of soft spoken, reluctant people, it could be a damper on it. We definitely had some talent in our group!

We were travelling as a family of 8 - with 5 kids ages 8-17. Read what this theatre is "about." That's the only way I can see not giving it 5 stars. It is NOT traditional theater.

By Constantina W |

The cast and crew were very friendly, and reservations were available the morning of. It was easily accessible from public parking, and the show was great! They involve the audience and it was hilarious. We will definitely do this again when we return with the kids.

By Pauljudim |

Please add this activity to your Charleston trip! we went 9/2 with another couple and were so entertained, the cast is talented the story was unique, everyone was engaged, the setting is very intimate and nicely decorated, it was my favorite evening event of the trip!!

By daisy s |

We took our kids and parents last night to a show. The audience participation combined with the comedic talent of the awesome actors was so entertaining! It was totally family friendly. The food was excellent and well priced. I wish we could’ve seen another show but ran out of time. Thank you for providing such a wonderful service to the community, we could not have enjoyed it more!

By Carrie M |

This is just a fabulous show! The mystery is fun but structured around audience participation. Even if you dont participate, it adds to the hilarity of the show. This was such a wonderful experience that we will do on every visit to Charleston. Yes…it was that fun! Many thanks!

By alamom |

Our family attended show last week while on vacation. Due to inclement weather, we were delayed, and right at show time in arriving, however, the staff could not have been more helpful or courteous in getting us to our table.
We enjoyed the show, which was a lighthearted-slapstick-comedy-whodunnit with voluntary audience participation. Show is just short of two hours as there is a brief intermission about midway through the show.
The theater is very small, which wasn’t evident to us from the street view but we found this to be a plus. Being in close proximity to the characters, one has unobstructed view, and makes experience more fun and personable.
We were happy with our choice and I’d recommend this show for anyone in need of a few good laughs while visiting Charleston.

By Joanne A |

Very fun time! The performers were very engaging with the audience, and if you have the opportunity to participate in the performance, you should! We had a lot of fun and I highly recommend it!

By funkdoctor8 |

Wonderful experience! Funny, lively, moved along quickly, one of my favorite things we did during our visit. The interactive nature of the show was great. Laughed the entire time. Enjoyable for the whole family, from 8 to 80! Highly recommend!

By Michael R |

We would highly recommend this venue for anyone who wants two hours of fun, entertainment, drinks, appetizers and dessert at the most reasonable prices in Charleston. The theater is small and intimate allowing for great interaction between the audience and the actors. It is unpretentious and just delivers as advertised.

By ddmelch |

We enjoyed a great evening, with funny actors, a lot of love to famous detective characters, and a lot of audience participation.
It is a relatively small theater, with a focus on detectives (including an introduction game of identifying TV/movie detectives). Refreshments are available (can drink during the show) and they have a small gift shop.
Highly recommended!

By Joanne G |

We had so much fun at The Black Fedora! A comfortable atmosphere to enjoy a funny murder mystery. Several audience members are asked to participate and given a script, totally voluntary, but so worth participating! We had a blast and will return to Charleston to have more fun at The Black Fedora!

By Meander47053804059 |

This was fantastic, funny and superbly ridiculous! We loved it! Perfect for all ages! Would recommend for anyone! And priced well.

By Cori B |

We unknowingly booked this show not knowing it was right across the street from our hotel! We arrived about 15 minutes early and the place was about half full already. While you wait, you're able to order food and drinks and play a "guess the detective" game, which makes the time fly by. They ask for volunteers from the audience before the show to participate, but there's no pressure to raise your hand. The cast was engaging and hilarious, and the small bites and drinks were well-priced. We enjoyed the evening, and it seems most did! The show was fitting for all ages, some of the young ones even got to participate. We attended about a week into their reopening post-pandemic, masks were not required but seating is a little close so some still wore their masks (which was totally cool). Definitely recommend!

By Michele M |

We did the Christmas mystery and had a blast. Very interactive lots of audience participation. Had a great time from beginning to end. Mystery guess who started the night as a time filler and was a fun filler. Will definitely go again

By Wendy H |

Super laid-back and friendly fun from this intimate mom and pop theatre.

The acting was top notch and classically corny. (That’s a compliment.). And the owners even write their own material (and whip up a mean dessert.)

You can tell that they really love what they do, because at the value priced admission cost, it’s a labor of love. They also don’t do that typical two-drink minimum requirement or gouge you on what you do decide to order.

If you are shy, don’t worry, they won’t put you on the spot. However, it felt like even the most reticent audience participants were glad they were good sports and delivered a line or two.

Get there about 30 minutes early to check out their wall of detectives and perhaps see a few show specific clues on various signs. I think we spotted a few.

We ate dinner before we arrived. There are tons of restaurants in easy walking distance. We made the mistake of not saving room for dessert.

Have a great time.

By MTB46 |

Did I expect to be a part of this, a melange of Agatha Christie and the best of ScFi? I was enchanted to read a few lines in this production and so were others expressing their new selves through a few polished lines. Really, you have to do this after you've wearied of carriage rides and garden tours. I was the Terminator for a few brief instants. I got caught on tape; I will be remembered forever. Go! Do it.

By Nick hammond |

I’ve attended many school plays and the content and delivery was far superior.
Very poor script, response from audience seemed was more pity than earned.
Great location could and should do better.
Sherlock the legend I’m sure is turning in his grave by such a performance

By Marla |

We went to see Inspector NoClue's Murder Mystery Show and it was truly a fun experience. The actors engage the audience well and are entertaining and talented. Would absolutely do it again. Also love how they get the audience to participate with the show. Well done!

By Robert B |

My teenage son and I loved this - team very welcoming and the show very entertaining - edgy but not too much - and audience participation was fun without people feeling pressured - thoroughly recommend

By Jan S |

We visited the Black Fedora with our friends this week and had a lot of fun with "Sherlock Holmes' Other Brother from a Southern Mother" - a silly spoof, where you are invited (but not pressured) to take a role. The audience and cast had lots of fun. Snack food and drinks are available.

By Gary F |

A lovely way to spend the evening. We watched Sherlock Holmes Brother by a Southern Mother. There is extensive audience participation and the serve drinks, snacks and desserts. It was a cool place to escape the Charleston heat but bring a sweater/jacket in case you need it. The cast really poured their hearts into the performance and it was very enjoyable

By Bullmastiffmom2max |

Overall it was ok. A lot of audience participation. So if you volunteer for a part, you must follow the script they give you carefully so you will know when it’s your turn and you need to speak loudly and clearly. You are reading from a script. Desserts and coffee were very good and reasonably priced. Only big downfall is that the seating is VERY close and the room is too small to accommodate everyone.

By Aric W |

Seriously the most group fun you can possibly have in Charleston. It’s interactive and you will cry laughing!

By Pat |

Favorite stop on our vacation in Charleston! This experience is great for all ages. Tickets & concessions are very reasonable. Just like the other reviewers have stated, you won’t feel pressured to participate if you don’t want to. Our show had plenty of great volunteers and each received plenty of applause after reading their part. My husband is always the life of the party so when he put his hand up and received a non speaking role, I knew that the actor passing out the scripts had already figured him out! A role made just for him 🤣 & he didn’t disappoint. He even came home with a new nickname- Shakira! Our teenage daughter made sure to video tape his part and now reminds him that she has TikTok material if she ever needs it! If you are looking for non stop laughter and a great night out, look no further! They offer several different themed shows ( all like a game of Clue though)so be sure to check their on-line calendar to plan ahead. We went on a week night and it was a packed! house! Get your tickets early! Oh, and don’t scoot in right before curtain call if you hate sitting front and center.

By Milinda_Georgia |

This was so much fun and family friendly !! The interaction with the audience was unexpected but hilarious !! The price for the show was very reasonable and there are a very limited amount of seats, so book early. They also offer wine, beer and appetizers if you're interested, for a reasonable price as well. It was a very unique show, written by the owner, I believe. They also had good entertainment before the show and during intermission.

By lewis2600 |

Great time and funny skit. Also fun participation by lots of people in the audience.
Would definitely go again

By Jim W |

My wife and I went last Thursday the 13th. We had a great time, participated in the show which was very funny. Great staff/actors, the whole audience seemed to enjoy themselves. Highly recommended.

By Jodi M |

Prior to my trip to Charleston with a friend I searched for fun things to do in Charleston and the Black Fedora was suggested a few times so I checked it out & made a reservation. I am so glad that we got to enjoy this experience! It was so much fun! I have been to a few other murder mystery shows before in the past but the Black Fedora was hands done the best! I was so excited to be a part of the performance, I had never been to a show that was interactive with the audience in this manner. The cast was exceptional, and very funny. This find was a treasure and one of the best parts of the trip. Made for a wonderful evening out and I definitely needed the laughs. Bravo!

By Carolyn K |

Such a fun experience! Everyone is friendly and fun! Great shows to be apart of. I would definitely recommend this place!

By lady jayne |

had such a great time love darryl. and sherry wade they are so amazing. and there so funny. and i love each and every show..
