Really impressive

By Karen L |

I happened to see an advertisement for this at the airport. Since reviews had mentioned that it really caps out at age 8, I figured we should try it - my son is 8, and we probably won't make it back to St. Louis again before he's 10. What fun! It is much bigger than I had imagined. One wing is geared more toward younger children. The other wing holds more for the older kids. Due to the reviews, I really thought we would be there for about 2 hours. We were there 5 1/2 hours. He loved it! He said it was equally as fun as the City Museum and the Science Center. He is an only child, but if you have multiple children, it is even more engaging. In warmer months, they also have some outdoor exhibits. It was $24 entry for the two of us. We brought a lunch (in the car, because they didn't serve anything my son would eat), but they do have a cafe. The place was very clean. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with kids 2-10. Tip: Go to the bubble room first. We got there toward the end, and most of the solution was gone in the exhibits.

Awesome & Busy

By Reagan R |

The Magic House Was an amazing experience, especially the children's village, the Oval Office, and solve the mystery. Just be warned it was packed on a Tuesday, to the point where you spent 20 minutes driving around the parking lot trying to find a spot. Very Affordable for spending 4 hours there. We arrived at 1:30 and stayed until it closed. Really wished we arrived earlier. There are things to do for a variety of children interested in many different things.

Love!

By Jennifer V |

We stopped by prior to heading to the airport to catch our flight. What a nice children's museum! It is the largest we've been to So far. Lots of things to do for little ones of all ages. We were there for over 2 hours and didn't do everything they had available. Definitely will go again.

My son loved this place

By BBN2424 |

We took our 5yr old here today and he loved it. We were there for 3 hrs and he didn't want to leave. Lots of crafts and lots of hands on activities for kids. They have a little cafe in there as well so you can eat lunch or even bring your own lunch and eat outside. The o my thing we didn't like was when you went upstairs I don't think the air conditioning was working well. It was so hott up there. Other than that it was fun!

Great day trip

By Kristie M |

My son (3) and I have been a few times and he’s loved it every single time. There are places for little ones to enjoy without bigger kids. Now that he’s a “bigger kid” in his mind he gets a kick out of the whole place. A lot of learning and science experiments that are fun enough the kids just love them. I would say this place is great for kids from walking age up to about 10 or 11, so it would be great for families of multiple kids.

COVID: they are restricting the people allowed in at one time. You must purchase your time slotted ticket online before coming in. Everyone over 5 is required to wear a mask. There are a few areas where the kids need a car to play with (train table, for example) and they give each kid their own set of trains to play with, when the child is done they turn it back in and an employee sanitizes them. There are hand sanitizing stations all over and employees are stationed at a few to ensure their use before touching certain exhibits. Employees also go around regularly and wipe things down. I felt very safe while there.

SO WORTH IT!!!

By SwissFamilySaunders |

Don’t read this-just go!!!!
It’s definitely worth it no matter your age!
So many different displays, activities, exhibits, etc.
We went in the afternoon on a weekend when it’s supposed to be least busy but it was still packed.
Definitely give yourself many hours if it’s your only visit. We were took our 5 & 2 yo’s and were there 4 hours but didn’t get through everything. The kids were spent so we had to head out before any meltdowns.
We agree this is much more friendly for younger kids than the city museum but it definitely fits for all ages!
Don’t miss this fantastic place that makes everyone happy!

Here are a few pics of the Kenyan section:

Truly Magic !!

By Sreeranjini |

A very beautifully and we'll organised place for the kids to explore and get creative !! They have this Daniel Tiger house, in which every character and play and the places in Daniel tiger has been set up for the kids to explore and love their fav Tiger !! They have a small cafe which caters to very healthy eating styles and options for kids. It's a house mixed with different themes for different age groups to explore. Don't miss the fun !!! It's unlimited :)

So much to do!

By TimNHolly |

We went with 6 and 8 y.o. children and they had a blast! Little pricy but there is so much to do that you could get your money's worth as long as you have the time. LOTS of hands-on activities and even quite a few make-and-take projects. We were there for just over 2 hours and didn't get to half the stuff they offer. Plenty of opportunities to run off some energy and still be inside on a super hot day.

Crowded and overpriced

By jean |

Overpriced and incredibly crowded to the point of feeling unsafe. We took our 4 grandchildren on a rainy day knowing that this would potentially cause more crowding, but what we found was awful.
*I’d like to see a response here from the owners about whether they are required by law/the fire department to limit the number of people who can be in the building at one time. This just can’t be right.
Also a few of the exhibits were broken, and it was stuffy and sometimes a little smelly.
For the most part Iur 2 younger grandchildren (5 and 8) did enjoy the exhibits/activities that they were able to get to, but there weren’t many things that were interesting for the 10 and 13 year old.
We were there years ago and enjoyed it but I won’t go back and wouldn’t recommend it.
We left and spent the rest of the rainy afternoon at the zoo. Everyone, kids included, felt a huge sense of relief to be out of the Magic House.

So much to do!

By Imaprize |

Absolutely loved this museum. I'm not sure if I had more fun or if my daughter did. The place never ends. At every turn there is something to do. This is a wonderful museum with hands-on activities for adults and children. The grounds are beautiful and there is a really cute cafe. Great job Magic House. Keep up the good work in providing wonderful opportunities for imaginative play, education and fun!

Such fun!!

By Pam B |

We took our 5 granddaughters who range in age from 2-8. There was plenty for every age to enjoy. Great educational fun and lots of opportunity for imaginative play. Such a clean kid-friendly place to visit.

OMG, take the grandkids!

By Cwattsks |

1. So fun. Can’t get to it all.2. REMEMBER WHAT THEY WERE WEARING because they’re off like a shot! 3. Thanks to management for those benches to sit on hitter and yon 4. Three-story slide happily has elevator adjacent to it. Up down up down for old grandma. Kids, take the stairs, I want you in bed at 8!

Great children's activity!

By Carrie N |

We visited with a 1, 5, and 11 year old. Every single one of them loved it! There is so much to do here! They always have a special exhibit room that is usually linked to a popular tv show or character and many, many other rooms that are constant. The upstairs also has exhibits that change sometimes. When we were there they had s great exhibit on China!

First Time

By jab891 |

Great place for kids. So many different things for the kids to ex[erience. It was very loud and a little hectic.

Smells like pee

By Ashley R |

This was a fun place for the kids to play. Lots to see and do. A bit pricey. The top floor smelled so bad that we could not play up there. It was hard not to gag at the intense smell of urine throughout the top floor.

Lazy Covid “protocols”

By Cara |

They advertise on their website that capacity is limited to help with Covid 19 and that masks are required for those who aren’t vaccinated. The day we went, hardly no one was wearing masks. I asked the worker how they were verifying that people were vaccinated and she said they weren’t. That’s great... especially since most of the kids that are there aren’t going to wear masks because they are too young. Also they were at full capacity. There weren’t any workers trying to make sure spaces weren’t too full. They weren’t offering masks to anyone either.

Very unimpressed with the steps this facility was taking to ensure the safety of others and especially the children. If you want to go somewhere that’s actually following CDC guidelines go to the zoo.

Something Fun for Everyone!

By Cassie W |

The Magic House is an amazing children's museum located just outside of St. Louis. I had the pleasure of visiting with a friend and the young girl she was babysitting. You could spend hours and still not see everything this children's museum has to offer. They have a neat "town" area on one level, a giant beanstalk you can climb from one level to the next, a huge science area, an Oval Office replica, and so much more! We only had a few hours to spend there, but even I as an adult wish I had had more time. Someday when I have kids I would definitely return here with them and even get a membership if I lived in the area.

Heaven for kids!

By N B |

Although the place seems small but there is SO much to do and see. My son had a lot of time in the Wonder Works as well as role-playing.

Our Kids Love It....

By KCL78 |

Took a visit to The Magic House during a spring break road trip. We haven't been for several years, but it was nice to see that improvements to the property are being made and the old standbys are still there.

My kids never get tired of The Magic House, they love the interactive nature of the 'house,' and the love running from room to room, checking out new things and trying new things. As parents, we love seeing them explore and act like kids.

Neatest thing about our most recent visit...lots of kids there, and not one of them looked bored or were staring at cell phone. It was nice to be surrounded by kids who weren't stuck on their phones and parents who were engaged with their kids when they were playing.

An amazing Place

By Drew K |

This is a wonderful attraction for toddlers through middle school children. It's full of fun and educational activities that keep the kids endlessly fascinated and engaged. If you're in the Saint Louis area with kids. make at least one half a day available for a visit.

Great place for kids

By Cliff T |

We took the grand kids to this very nice children's museum on a rainy day, The place was packed probably because of the rain discouraged outdoor attractions . It really has it all, a maze, STEM labs, art area, sports and fitness, history museum, world village, and just about everything you can think of. If you are visiting St. Louis with kids 5-12, I strongly suggest a trip to the Magic House.

Best if you're 7yo or younger

By Seth R |

I always knew the time was coming when my son ( going on 10) would outgrow the children's museum and tire of pretending to check out groceries, pretend to be in school, etc. The Magic House was very clean and well maintained. Saying that, I think any age above 7 will be bored very quickly.

NOT JUST FOR KIDS

By Robert E |

On a recent visit since my childhood and yes that has been a while I took some younger family members. Thinking I would be bored I left happily surprised and in shock I think the adults loved it and had just as much fun as the kids.

Fun place! So much to do!

By Carrie N |

The Magic House is so fun! The 4 year old that I was with loves it and it's fun for adults too! There are many different exhibits. So many different things it seems like a maze at times! There is always one traveling exhibit and many regular exhibits. All rooms are hands on and engaging. Parking is free and admission is $11. Passes are a great deal and there is a certain time of year where membership is half off.

Torah

By 96terrig |

Took my granddaughter and daughter there. We had so much fun. It was my granddaughters first time. I foresee many more visits in the future.

Great for the kids-but I need liquor to survive all the screeching!

By susie k |

My 4 year old LOVED this place! My 11 year old was bored and hated it. I was on sensory overload with how CROWDED and LOUD this place was! I was hoping on a Saturday afternoon (around 1) it wouldn't be as bad, I thought kids would be home napping or something. It was just awful to me! LOL. I went several years ago, and it wasn't crowded, so I enjoyed myself. I would definitely never come back on a Saturday afternoon. There were so many children that we couldn't actually play with any of the activities or experience a lot of the exhibits. The climbing tree was a disaster with children stepping on other kids and getting stuck. I'm pretty sure every parent there had the "what was I thinking" look on their face! If I had known how crazy it would be, I would have brought in a Starbucks cup of wine!

Great Experience

By Gary C |

Wonderful time with our son, DIL and two granddaughter's at The Magic House. Last time there was 30 years ago and WOW what a difference. Keep up the great work of helping children, and adults for that matter, find enjoyable activities.

Very good for kids

By KindPathFinder |

Great indoor playground for both our 1 and 8 year old. Worth a 2 hour stop easily. Lots of learning opportunities and hands on tactile play. The one year liked the gravel pit but it did get a little dangerous for him there around the others kids operating the digging equipment.

Can get chaotic

By Helen Y |

We took our 4 year old grandson to Magic House and he enjoyed it very much. To me it seemed chaotic at times, with children running around unsupervised and always in a hurry. My grandson's favorite part was the long twisted slide where the kids went upstairs to slide down. The bubble room was fun for him also, but the floor was quite slippery. Overall, I would recommend the Magic House for children 4 to 10.

Fun time for kids!

By samduncan2017 |

First time here and we will come back! There is so much to do for little kids. My 4 year old and 1 year old had a blast.

Overwhelmingly busy fun

By ILimplant |

There are so many great things to see, the LEGO building area was a big hit with my littles. I found it very difficult to keep track of my 3 kids with all the little places they could get in and disappear quickly. Staff was very friendly and quite helpful. It got extremely crowded around 2pm. I think if I go back I’ll make sure I have an adult for each child with me.

Grwat for kids but anlittle bit dirty

By Evan |

A very great place for kids but a little crowded and activities are a bit dirty and run down and alot of stuff is out of order. The prices are a little bit expensive but not too much.

A Truly Magical Place!

By Kelly H. |

We spent the better part of a day here while on a long roadtrip from Wisconsin to Kansas. It was a much needed diversion after days of sightseeing! The kids loved all the great open ended play, and the adults appreciated having places to sit down and rest while the kids were occupied. We ordered food ahead of time for the cafe using the QR code on the back of the museum map, which made lunch seamless. There’s a really nice outdoor seating area for meals, which we took advantage of on a nice afternoon. Be sure not to miss the big slide that starts at the top floor!

All hands on fun place for kids!

By travelswithmanykids |

Lots of fun things to do here. All ages will enjoy it. My 2 year old was amazed at some of the things here and my 12 year old still loves it here however is figuring out she is a little old for most things. There are however different rooms for different ages. $33 for three of us to get in. Love the traveling exhibit that changes frequently.

so much to touch and explore!!!! but missing one important thing

By tiffy56 |

We took a very excited trip to the Magic House! My daughter explored a lot of different exhibits while at the Magic house. It is a very beautiful and different museum. The one thing that bothered me while there was the presidential exhibit. Included were the executive, judicial, and legislative branch "offices". Various presidents were displayed but recent President Barrack Obama was not. I didn't think anything about it, until I saw current president Donald Trump displayed. I'm just wondering what message the museum is trying to convey to children.

Must do with young kids

By Shannon M |

This is on my top 5 places to do when in STL with my kids, ages 13, 9 and 5! We go every year and will keep up the tradition. So many interactive things to do with kids of all ages

Amazing

By Jacquelinecay |

This place is great. I recommend only doing this as the only activity for the day. You really need a full day here to enjoy it. With that being said pace yourself and your littles as you will get tired! Once you pay. You can leave and come back within the same day.

Not worth what you pay for

By Nancy W |

I know it was Friday, the last day of spring break for most schools in the area, son I wasn't surprised the place was packed. But, so packed kids couldn't sit down for long to do anything. At a $12 each admission, definitely not enjoyable. A few displays or items were missing pieces; one of the pedals for the electricity bike wouldn't stay on and saw a couple of displays with an "out of order" sign attached. Had been awhile since I had taken the kids as I remembered the last visit was much the same. Perhaps if the Magic House would consider refurbishing/relocating or limit the amount of people it allows in, it could really make a difference for those considering a return visit.

Fun for the Whole Family

By trtzw |

My recent visit to The Magic House was delightful. While the focus is toward the young, don't think this place is just for kids. I found myself just as involved with the hands-on displays and demonstrations. Even more enjoyable was watching the expressions of joy, determination and wonder from my grandkids as they moved to each exhibit.
This magical place might be the the spark that encourages the next generation of scientists, artists, engineers, entrepreneurs and more. Plan to spend hours with your family in this magical place.

Learning and interactive fun

By westsidedk |

We have been going to the Magic House for years. We love visiting with the kids, even though one has outgrown it! Now that they have a food available its very convenient!

One of the Best Children's Museums I ever been too!

By Lori K |

This is hands down one of the best children's museums we've been to. We spent 5 hours here and didn't even come close to doing evertything. So much to do!
I highly recommend this place. My children's ages are 7 and 10 and both were busy here!

Good Time!

By Nick W |

The time spent here was great! There was so much to do for our three year old. The only negative was the price; anyone one or older costs $11. If the cost was lower, this would be a five star attraction.

So fun and entertaining

By Cassandra@m |

There is so much to explore at the magic house. It's a great place to take the kids! Chances are if you visit once you'll plan to go back.

Nice place for kids

By Abed M |

We visited this place for kids and they enjoyed it very much. We have a 9 year and 3 year old. It is similar to Children's Museum in Memphis, TN. It has also outdoor activities for kids.

WONDERFUL!!

By Gwen R |

My kids could've stayed here ALL day long if we'd have had the time. The exhibits were great. My boys really loved the air exhibit downstairs. They enjoyed pretty much everything they did, but that was by far their favorite. Great place and not out of control expensive!

Great for active kids.

By TN-Scoutmom |

Wonderful experience again. Even older kids like to see all they have. You can make this an all day trip if your kids do everything.

Fun for all ages

By marlindrak |

We have watched as the Magic House has entertained our Grandkids for years. The static electricity ball is a favorite.

GREAT PLACE TO VISIT WITH KIDDOS!

By Ekekla08 |

I have been here as a teen, as a college student and as a parent! I had a blast each time! What a gem in St. Louis! Make sure you go!

Fun but can be crowded

By Jessica G |

We took our children (9 & 2) on a little day trip to the magic house and they both seemed to enjoy it very much. Yes it can get crowded at times and there are parents who let their children do whatever they want while the parent plays on their phones but that is the world we live in today and you will get that anywhere. I would recommend the magic house to anyone whose children have wild imaginations because that is part of what this place is about, they can learn and have fun and the price isn't bad considering all that they have to offer.

Amazing place for young kids to explore, play and learn!

By Karen E |

This place is amazing for young kids. They even have a separate area for really young kids. There is a construction themed area with a bobcat to climb on/sit in. Wheel barrows and scoops to moved gravel around. Hardhats and aprons and tool belts to wear. Framed out rooms to explore. And that is just in one area! There is a government themed area. You can sit behind the desk "at the oval office" and pretend you are the president. There is a fully stocked pretend grocery store so you can shop and check out your "purchases". Another cool area is the fishing. The stream runs under the floor and the pond is stocked with magnetized fish to catch. You can release your catch down stream and watch them make their way back to the pond. Plan to spend several hours here.

Neat Place, But Many Other St. Louis Attractions Are Better

By stdogg |

First, it is about $12 a person to get in, even for a 3 year old which we have. The place has some neat exhibits on their 3 floors, but it is way too crowded to really enjoy most of them. The café is small with limited seating, though it does offer some decent choices. My kids liked it, but after 2 hours, they were bored and tired of dodging so many people.

Great place for kids!

By Heather H |

Such a fun place to take the kids! We have 4 kids under 8, 1 is a baby but our 3 walking had the best time! So much to do for little ones. You could spend the whole day!

Had a great time!

By rannydef |

We were here 2 weeks ago & the kids are still talking about it. We arrived about 1:00 & closed it down at 5:30 & the kids still weren't ready to go. There are so many different stations in this place, some a huge hit & others a miss, but there are lots of things for everyone. All ages would like this place. Although the kids had lots of fun throughout the whole house, we didn't visit the children's village until last & that's the part that was the biggest hit. It's a little town for kids, run by kids. The market groceries were so realistic, the vet clinic, everything was so cool. They would have spent the whole day in the village if allowed.

So much fun!

By sunnysunfish |

My kids had a blast here! I just followed them to wherever they wanted to play. They were in the play area with the grocery store and vet clinic for two hours I bet. They absolutely loved that area. My 6 year old loved watching the model trains. The bubble area was a hit for them as well. We went back for a second round in there. Very reasonable and you don’t have to pay for parking.

Something Different with Every Turn!

By Kieran1515 |

While "The Magic House" was crowded, we would not have missed this fun-filled 'house' which we thoroughly enjoyed. For the kids, this was pure fun. To watch their faces with each discovery in each room was pure 'parent-fun'. Will certainly return to this house, again, when in St. Louis with the family.

AMAZING

By Casey C |

It would take me too long to write enough things about this place. It was a dream come true! The ONLY criticism I even have is maybe having more things in the gift shop with the name on it, I really wanted something more than a measuring tape with the name.

funfunfun!!!!

By Anaiya W |

this is a super fun place the kids will love. we have gotten sick a few times after going, but its only minor colds of course because of the kids everywhere. there are a variety of things to do and its honestly so awesome.

A great place for small kids!

By Preuettb |

A fun way to spend a few hours, although I feel this is a place for younger kids. The line was pretty long but the wait wasn't so bad when we went. Definitely worth a stop!

Fun way to learn

By mommytoo |

My 7- and 4-year-olds had a great time. Even the dramatic play areas incorporated basic math (bank, market) and health concepts (baby hospital, vet). There were some exhibits that were truly STEAM, like the Musical Slope that plays a famous composition when you drop balls down it. There is a lot to do here! Without coupons, it is pricey for a family, but there are ways to get discounts.

The best

By Shesha K |

It was an unplanned trip but after seeing many children's museums, I think this is unique in the amount of interactive activities that this place has. Technology is adequately utilized. Parking is easy and highway access is good.

Had a great time

By David B |

It was our first time at The Magic House and our kids had a blast. So much stuff do do only problem is we ran out of time. We still could have spent another few hours there. Recommend for all kids even my 10 year old had fun.

Far and away the best place in STL for kids

By JSD47630 |

Amazing, inventive and just plain fun. The Magic House has been making kids smile for decades. Plan on spending a long time here but try to avoid weekends when it can be full and crowded. Highly recommended

The most fun my kids have had. Their favorite place to go.

By Carolyn J |

This is the number one place to take your young children when you come to St. Louis. It is fun plus it is a great learning environment. There is a grocery store where your kids can practice shopping and also banking, order food and prepare it at the "restaurant." You can fish in a pond that runs across the floor, play in the water, slide down slides, learn math, play dress up, learn about Lewis and Clark, learn history, paint, solve a mystery. It was the regular place to go when my kids wanted a day off to play-they always wanted to go to the magic house. Don't miss this one or you will regret it!

Will go again!

By hildee34 |

Our girls are 3.5 & 2 and had a blast for over 3 hours. They would've stayed longer, but we had other plans. Even after 3 hours we still didn't get to everything. It's true it can get a little chaotic in some places, but what do you expect at a children's venue? The worst part for us was the rude children barely supervised by their cell phone faced parents who were also rude both to adults and other kids. There weren't too many of those though to keep us from enjoying it. If we lived in the area we would most likely have a membership- would be great in the winter, but was also nice to get out of the heat too.

Lots to do for kids!

By STLSoccerFamily |

We are Members of the Magic House Children's Museum. There are so many different and unique activities for all ages. Our five kids grew up going there for school field trips, birthday parties or just an afternoon.

Awesome

By agX7606PG |

I remembered the fun I had as a child going to this cool place so I decided to take my kid. Wow has it grown. With all the classics of the pizza parlor where they can cook it and serve plastic pizza to ya, to bubbles, water, trains, construction, history and more. Kids become part of the experience by interacting at every level. Lots to experiment on and never a dull second. I would want to go back because it was under construction still growing. I also loved the price!!!! So doable for any family.

Fabulous children's museum!

By cheerfultraveler41 |

We had such a fun time here! Cost to enter is per person, but parking is free. In a traveler's guide, I did find a half off coupon. There are two sides to the museum and an outdoor area. Food options are good, and healthy. We had such a fun time there and spent several hours. Near a cute town, too!

Overwhelming

By Cello12345 |

We were there all day, and didn't have time to do everything. Our 6 year old was fascinated! This is a children's museum on steroids. A good mix of action, creative play, and intellectual exercise. When it became obvious that we'd be there until closing time, we ordered some lunch from the onsite Picnic Basket Cafe. They did a great job, and the choices of food satisfied our entire party, including vegetarian and low inflammation diets.

Grandparents good young grandkids

By LDHtraveler |

We had 2 grandkids visiting for NM and 2 that live here so we took them to the Magic House. Reservations were easy to get online with 3 hour visits 9-11, 12-3 and 4-7 available. We went at the 9-11 time. They are very aware of the post COVID requirements and actually due to the numbers restrictions the kids didn’t have to wait to see most exhibits which was nice. The kids all had a good time. Negative comments would be there were a number of exhibits that were closed (coronavirus reasons I guess) but also exhibits that were broken or not working properly. When I made a comment to one of the staff, they said they had been broken for a while. All in all we enjoyed the visit and would recommend it.

Big Fun For All

By jaykE7478KI |

Three generations all had a great time. Spent approximately 6.5 hours there (with a lunch break) and didn't do everything. Only thing I can add is consider an annual membership vs. the single entry. I purchased 7 single tickets (4 adults & 3 kids - all $12) for $84. An "economy" 1 year membership is $100 and a regular is $150. Fortunately, the staff was willing/able to apply the $84 toward a membership for our daughter's family. Check it out if there's any chance of coming back within a year.

Great place for kids

By LindaH343 |

We have bought yearly passes for the brand it’s for three years. This is my first time visiting The Magic House with them. I can understand why my daughter says “yes” every year. The boys had a ball. Even the youngest (under 2 years) had fun. Definitely would recommend this place.

Great place for kids of all ages

By robertrY9975XF |

All family members had a great time seeing all the exhibits and trying the well designed displays. climbing the bean stalk makes for interesting video if you can climb the circular stairs as fast as your kids can climb the large leaves of the beanstalk from the lower level to the tip level.

So much fun!

By Taji B |

I thought we would be in and out of here and there wouldn't be tons for an 8 and 9 year old but we were pleasantly surprised! After 6 hours we still hadn't done everything but my husband was pooped! If I lived close by, I would definitely buy a season pass because there are so many activities and my granddaughters interacted fully with just about everything. It's the nicest children's museum we have visited and we'd definitely go back.

Kids Enjoyed!

By Candhyheart14 |

Took the grandkids to the Magic House and it was a fun experience! There is so much to see and and do! My goodness the kids were worn out from all the activities! Well worth the time, would come back again!!!

Adults Will Love It, Too!

By SRiese |

I went with another adult and I'm pretty sure we had as much fun as the kids around us. This house-turned-museum is four floors of awesome learning adventures. My favorite part was the multi-story slide!

Amazing!!

By April E |

Our family just went today and we have three kiddos (age 5, 3 and 1) and we all had a fantastic time! There we so many interesting exhibits and we leaned quite a lot as well. We were there for over 3 hours and probably only saw 1/4 of the exhibits. Can’t wait to go back in our next trip!

Great family time

By phoyle18 |

My husband and I met our daughter, son in law and 2 grandkids there...ages 9 and 3. We had a blast as always! A must if you are in the area! The kids learn and have fun at the same time!

Fun stop

We stopped by the Magic House on our way to St. Louis. Kids are 7 and almost 9 and had a good time. They were too big for a few of the exhibits, but did enjoy the bubble exhibit and spent quite a bit of time in the Star-Spangled exhibit, and climbed up and down the Jack and the Beanstalk. We were short on time and actually missed a few of the exhibits, but overall, a neat stop with a lot to do for a reasonable price.

Fun Day

This is a great place to let the kids burn some energy!! Fun items for them to play with, explore, and experience. Has educational value but also some good family fun!

Fun!

By Katye |

We enjoyed our time here. But weren’t upset when it was time to go. There are more entertaining things to do in St. Louis that cost less. Very crabby staff who obviously don’t want to be at work. There were 3 different daycare groups that were poorly supervised so they were rowdy and rude. That didn’t help either. We would have rather been at the science museum which is FREE or paid $3 more per person to be at the City Museum.

Ehh...overpriced for what you get.

By Erica C |

For $11/person, a bit overpriced the coolest thing was the room where you color a picture and then scan it and it goes on an interactive wall and then you can scan your picture and it prints out a 3D cut out so u can build your drawing, so that was the part my kids really liked and the bubble room also. From what I understand the 3rd Fridays are free after 5pm. We got there at 2, so we had to pay.

Amazing place for toddlers and young kids

By Jerry E |

We took our almost 2 year old and man did he have a great time! We spent over 3 hours here before he wore himself out. There us so much to do here if we lived her we would definitely be members. This place is huge and has so many cool things to do everywhere you turn highly recommend.

Great place for young childrenon a weekday adventure!

By apkh0828 |

My daughter is in the Air Force...on a recent visit to the Magic House was honored for her service with free admission to the place. With our two grandchildren and map in hand spent the morning exploring this wonderful house. Two large buildings with three floor plan would take two full days to see everything here so pick your favorite areas first. We started with the Dinosaur Train exhibit. Moving on into many other good for young children exhibits. The giant slide from third floor to first floor is a fun for young children. A special hall with a lady singer playing guitar for kids to dance & play was great. The static ball which makes your hair stand up the kids kept wanting to go back & see! Learned to change a tire with an exhibit for kids, a mini grocery store for kids to shop & ring up their own food for check out, vet office with stuffed dogs & cats to give check-ups to & set up individual cages for each animal. Cool. So many great things to see here. Food on the site for a good lunch...and a PBS room with Curious George, Super Why, Clifford the Big Red Dog, we had our pictures taken with for photo opt. Plan a whole day or two here to enjoy the place in full. The Magic House is just what it says...Magic!

So much to see and do!

By Maui4Me2 |

What a wonderful place for kids. So many activities for fun learning. The climbing pod tree at the start to the "making tents and forts" activity exhibit. The shadow exhibit, bubble room, balls in motion and of course the big slide and electric room are hits for all! So much to see and do but never enough time.

Not as magical

By Travelinforme |

I used to think this was awesome but it seemed lacking this time. At least parking was easy but the things to do seemed all for smaller kids and pretty basic--they did love getting static through their hair! Sand castle was cool. $11 admission

Awesome

By jrimel |

Wonderful time! My 8 and 11 year old had a blast! We spent hours here. Between the "solve a mystery" for my daughter and the construction site, which was enjoyed by both. We had a great time!

Perfect for families

By Rob f |

Excellent place for families with kids. If you can walk or move around this is the place to be, lots of hands on fun things to do for kids of all ages. Take them here and they will be ready to pass out when you leave.

Could Spend All Day At The Magic House

By Supersecdd |

We visited St. Louis many times but just went to The Magic House for the very first time on Saturday. It was decorated for Halloween and there were characters dressed up and giving out treats and water bottles all over the building. We ate lunch in the cafe and it was quick, tasty and not expensive. There were 16 of us and the children's ages ranged from 10 to 3. We stayed for hours and could have stayed longer. It is a wonderful place for children. As a Granny, I would have liked a few more chairs placed along the way. We would all definitely go there again.

St. Louis- an Amazing Family Destination- Don’t miss it!

By E W |

Why you have to take your kids to St Louis: 1) the Magic House in Kirkwood, 2) the Museum of Transport in Kirkwood followed by the Frisco train store just down the road in Fenton (that combo=little boy heaven!) 3) the City Museum (also heaven). 4) see the riverfront & Gateway Arch (a paddle wheel boat trip is an option) and then the - Spaghetti Factory anyone? 6). City Park next door followed by 7). Union Station for the aquarium & Ferris wheel, 8). And the St. Louis Zoo, and 9). all of Forest Park- paddle around the waterway- and check out the playground— we used to ice skate on the waterway after a freeze- but then there is also 10) Steinberg Skating Rink, and 11). hike the prairie area to see the birds & wildlife, 12). the Science Center with the Planetarium are terrific lanother great space museum in town is the McDonnel- Douglas at Boeing- definitely worth a visit- remember they built the first manned spacecraft, Gemini— before computers- Yes, the engineers used slide rules, all the controls were dials.) 13). The Missouri History museum is amazing for kids, and maybe the 14) Art museum to see the Egyptian mummy, (face it- that will all take several days just in Forest Park, then there are 15). the Cardinals and the Blues and the Battlehawks sports teams, and all surrounded by 14). the amazing parks managed by the incomparable Missouri Conservation Department (check out the photography in their monthly magazines) - maybe see the 16) Confluence of the Missouri & Mississippi Rivers and watch the eagles- or the old Chain of Rocks bridge for even better eagles! , then see the birds at the Audobon center, 17) Or, a biting a drive, hike to the top of Hughes Mountain for the view, or 18) Elephant Rocks Park, & then closer in there is 19) hiking thru Shaw Arboretum ( part of our World Class Missouri Botanical Garden - lots of great kids programs, and not far from and 20). the Wild Bird Sanctuary, and the Wolf Sanctuary and Lone Elk Park with its herd of buffalo. And I didn’t even mention 21) Laumier Sculpture Park for the giant sculptures, or 22) the awesome canoeing on Missouri’s other rivers, like h the Meramec and Black, etc etc. Did I forget 23). the caves, like Meramec Caverns? St. Louis is just an awesome place for the whole family to enjoy- And how could I fail to mention 24) Our World Heritage Sight, Cahokia Mounds- I challenge you to hike up Monks Mound, and imagine you are the great leader who lives on this man-made pinnacle- look out at the scenery around you- don’t you really feel like a king? And our Universities- close by the citizens of St. Louis rose up to protect the Armory- and I would argue saved the Civil War. And I didn’t even start on the music and Symphony or the Cathedrals- (how about a very special Roman Catholic service at the historic Black church, the Rock? ). There is so much more and so much good food- make sure you get to “the Hill” for dinner! —— Because this city has been around for a very long time! Bottom line- St. Louis is an awesome place for kids and their families to explore— and the bonus is, much of it is free.)

Brilliant Place for the Kids

By PapaYM |

Can be a little expensive for a family but I would say worth it. There is so much to see & do both inside & outside. It beat our little ones as they got tired before seeing & doing all that there was to do. Almost all is hands on, interactive & also very educational, we went on a busy day as school was out, so maybe try to find a quieter time. They have a covered picnic area & if visiting regularly a pass for multiple visits can be bought & it is place that you can return to again & again.

A Blast

By Nichole G |

We went for father's day with our 16 month old. She had a blast, and pasted out before we saw it all. They also had an awesome nursing room. They have something for every age range.

Great Children's Museum

By carrie3412 |

This is a top-notch children's museum. It is a great place to bring the family. The staff are friendly, the exhibits, are great, and adults like it as much as the kids!

Great Place For Kids

By Danielle W |

I haven't been to the Magic House for years. I enjoyed my trips as a young child. There is so much to do and see there. I was never bored. I found that I could have stayed all day and not seen everything. If you are a local, I would recommend coming often. The price was very reasonable when I went.

It's Magic, watch what happens to your children!

By socogirl2015 |

We took our children, and then our grandchildren to the magic house. Quite a metamorphosis... Our children, usually more shy and reserved instantly launched into this "hidden" foreign entity. They wanted to try everything at rocket speed never mind that we were left in their dust. Returning years later with our grandchildren was unimaginable. Not shy and certainly not reserved (like their parents) these kids were in their element! They took off like ballistic missiles. The magic house had increased in size from a "house" to a chateau from our previous visit with our children. So many more rooms and areas to loose your children and in our case grandchildren. Watch out for the enormous beanstalk. Our grandson was climbing at lightening speed, and never looked back. He was laughing so hard at us climbing the stairs chasing after him. Meanwhile grandpa lost our grand daughter in another room that had multi-levels
trying to keep up with her. The kids had a blast. Me, not so much.

One of our favorites!

By Shan s |

I must be a kid at heart because I absolutely adore The Magic House! What a wonderful place. There are SO MANY cool exhibits here. If you have children you have to check it out. Tip: There are often coupons floating around.

Great for Toddlers and under 1 babies

By Compass14883343445 |

Went with my 2 year old and under 1 year old. Both enjoyed it. 2 year old could've lived there forever. And the under 1 loved the baby area. It was perfect and gave me ideas of what to do at home. There is so much to do that if I lived here I would have a membership. I wish we could've spent more time in every area especially the arts and crafts area. Also free parking and you can bring your own stroller just about everywhere. There are stroller parking when the space is limited.

Unique gem great for rainy days.

By Shari M |

Sometimes on vacation there is a rainy day. This is a great way to spend it if you have children and young teenagers. It's busy in April because the local schools use it as a field trip. It has been so successful that it has expanded several times. The price is reasonable, the parking is free.Lots of hands on activities; the kids are learning without realizing it.

Great Place for Little Kids

By Greg H |

Perfect for kids under 6 but my 8 year old is no longer into the Magic House. Can be really crowded when schools and camp groups show up by the 100s. Always keep a close eye on your kids as they can get lost quickly.

80's Fieldtrips to now my my Grandkids

By Bill S |

I've been going to the Magic House since the early 1980's on field trips when I was a child. Now, I go with my Grandchildren. Every time I go there seems to always be a new adventure. From the time it was just the old house with the electrically charged ball as it's crown jewel to now with the Children's Village, Wonder Works, Star-Spangled Center (Court room and a facsimile of the "Oval Office"), this is a place where kids can be kids and adults can be kids, too!

Magic House

By bckmn1 |

This place was amazing the kids loved it. Fun for parents also. The price was reasonable. Tons of things to explore and investigate.

We had a blast!

By TME45 |

We have been to several Children's Museums across the Midwest, and this is our favorite. My 5 and 2 year old boys loved it! There is so much to do! We went on a Friday evening near closing time and it wasn't that crowded. We live five hours away, but would visit again in a heartbeat!

Fun experience!

By Nicole2017 |

We took our 3 year old for a day of fun here. He absolutely loved it. There was a lot to do for younger kids. We spent 5 hours here!!! Well worth the money. The Magic House had a lot of different types of pretend play. The only downfall is that is gets very crowded and the kids kept bumping into each other.

Amazing place with tons to do

By maddie021 |

# very good cafe with good and healthy food choices

# big and spacious . Has two levels

# reasonable tickets and ample parking

# special areas for younger children

# massive large exhibits so there is no over crowding

# can easily spend an entire day. We could not cover the entire museum even though we tried to see every exhibit !!!!

# can easily entertain a 6 month old to a teenager

# unbelievable art room . Simply stunning.

Just Ok

By pdgymanwife |

I took my 3 and 5 year old grandsons to the place where they had been wanting to go...not at all what we expected. Way to crowded and not as much fun as they were expecting. Maybe it would be more enjoyable if it wasn't so crowded.

Lots of things to enjoy

By Agot76 |

Kids and adults love coming to the Magic house and I can see why. There's a lot of things that you can enjoy for the kids and the kids at heart!

Great for the whole family

By Nat.Sd |

It is a great attraction for kids and parents, we keep going back because there is always something to do, its better every time, they always keep it updated and they have many things to play and have fun with kids of all ages. I totally recommend it!

Right in charming downtown Kirkwood and next to lots of history

By Patrick R |

This place has everything from A to Z in there. For those who likes elevators, there is where you can ride them, film them and not get in trouble for it. Kids can test their reaction time on a car simulator. Plus they can get a feel of grocery shopping. Having children get a feel of grocery shopping helps them make healthy choices so that they don't end up making the same mistakes seniors made when they were children. With me born in 1961, I could remember the Magic House wasn't as big as it is now. Also for elevators, just up the road at 325 N. Kirkwood Road is a small town like doctor's office building. That building was opened in 1958. And it has an elevator that is gated.

Fun stop

By K_brinko |

Fun stop on a road trip to Chicago. My daughter (2) was able to get out some energy while learning and having fun. I'm so glad we chose to stop here. Staff was friendly and all the kids were having fun.

Great Museum for Children

By mama841 |

We love visiting the Magic House in the summer months and utilizing their outdoor areas. My children have so much fun splashing in the water exhibits, and building in the sand. The indoor areas can be overwhelmingly crowded at times, but the crowd is better dispersed outdoors.

Amazing place

By Jim723 |

This is a fantastic children's museum. There are two things that kept me from giving it 5 stars though. First is the cost. It's not terribly expensive but given the quantity of great free attractions in St Louis the price is a little hard to swallow. Second is that it is too crowded. We went on a Monday so I'd hate to see it on the weekends. Otherwise it really is a great place to visit. They have tons of great things to keep your kids entertained.

A great time for the whole family

By Katrina O |

All of the exhibits are interactive and hands on. The quality of exhibits was amazing as well. We could have spent all day there.

Excellent

By AngK |

There is plenty for the entire family here. 3 different levels of fun indoors and some outdoors. Definitely great for younger children 3-9

Good luck getting in!

By Dream604352 |

We got there shortly after they on and there was absolutely no parking. Had to leave (went to Myseum) and come back after 2pm and barely found parking space.
Would be very hard to see this place in 1 day! So much to do, such a variety no matter what your kid likes!
It was very crowded but we still managed to enjoy it. My child didn't get to do everything we wanted because there was so many kids doing the same things. Would love to go back with half the crowd. But we will definitely attempt it next time we're in town.

There are Two- attend the one in Kirkwood

By Christine F |

Two things: FIRST, there are TWO sites. The Magic House pictured here, in the gorgeous old house, is the one on Kirkwood - full of fun. There is another branch on Delmar: it may be fun but this is NOT the hours of adventure you anticipated.

Second: the Magic House is magical for kids at least up to 13. We attended with the 14 yo grand that remembered it from when she was 9 and we all, she and adults, had a blast! We spent a good 2-3 hours playing with Legos, bubbles, various activities AND the very cool musical chairs! There is a lot to do and unless your pre-teen/early teen is very jaded, they, too, will have a good time.

Fun time with the kids

By siue300 |

Our kids are 2 and 6 and they both had a great time at the Magic House, and it was enjoyable for us as well. They were fully entertained for the 3 hours that we spent there, even though the little one got a little rough at the end as we were approaching a needed nap. The art studio was our 6 year old's favorite part and the kids area was the 2 year old's favorite (the sand, slide, market, bank, library, etc.).

Very fun place for the entire family and the pricing is very reasonable with FREE PARKING!

Great value

By Barb H |

Love this place. Something for every age. No one even knows they’re getting science and civics lessons!

Great indoor activity for kids, can be crowded though!

By staycationdirtyword |

The Magic House is always a favorite of my son and his friends, and we've found different areas of the facility to be of interest as he grows. When he was little, the tiny kiddo play area was one of the first indoor activities I felt safe letting him play in (12-18months) with a ball pit, soft climbers, low/small climbing toys and restricted area away from bigger kids. At 3, the construction area and slides were a huge hit. Now braver at four, he loves climbing the center "leaf" jungle gym and the outdoor/covered construction area which is newer.
I've always felt like the Magic House is clean and well cared for, and we've appreciated their frequent exhibits and events like Big Truck Day, The Daniel tiger exhibit, etc.
I avoid going on the weekends whenever possible, because it's so popular and I personally don't love crowds. Early mornings and weekdays have always been fine though. Parking is free!

Extraordinary Place for Children

By debmink |

We went to St. Louis this week and took our 20 month old granddaughter. We were looking for something that she would enjoy doing before we went to the ball game. We found the Magic House chikdten’s Museum while looking online. How lucky we were! We could’ve spent all day there. They have a whole children’s village that included a hospital, a veterinary clinic, a pizza parlor, a fishing pond amongst other places. It was super hot that day so we were unable to go to the beach outback. That looks like an incredible amount of fun too for children of all ages. If you have children and you are traveling to St. Louis, this place is a must!

Every Kids Dream

By TravelTime |

Another place I never tire of. The kids love it. Great place for a day of fun with your family or a large group. So much to see and do, very interactive. Another place kids love and look forward to experiencing. It is absolutely worth every minute.

Great place for kids

Went to the Magic House with family and the grand daughters had a great time. Lots of hands on things for kids to do.

A piece of history preserved

By Julie B |

I had the pleasure of meeting Shellie the owner of this wonderful home. The house can be toured by appointment and it does cost to tour. The grounds are nice. This is Shellies home but it has been lovingly been restored. Some of the furnishings are original. The tour takes about an hour and half. Very nice and very informative about the Magic Chef history.

Kids had a great time.

By Jason C |

Lots of fun for the kids. Very clean facility. Well staffed. A must if you have little kids who want something interactive to do in the winter time especially

Always Fun

By Belen A |

We all had a great time, just is was too many people in our Covid safety sense period. Kids enjoy it anyway

Kids Musuem

By chibex32 |

This is a cute kids museum geared towards younger kids. My kids loved the exhibit that was like a real detective game. You had to use clues to solve a mystery. There is also an exhibit that is about the different branches of government. They enjoyed sitting in the oval office and pretending like they were a judge. No a huge place but worth a trip with younger kids. Mine were 5,6, and 8 at the time.

They just get it.

By Amy K |

Listen. Parenting is hard. Public places like this can be overstimulating and overwhelming. This place has all sorts of nooks and crannies for kids to explore. And every single one of them has multiple books. If your kids are like mine, books are safe spaces and are so regulating. So to see so ma y options is amazing.

That said, meltdowns still happen. I sat in the cafe while one kid smashed a delicious grilled cheese and apples, when my husband brought over our potty training toddler who decided mixing his yogurt with applesauce and chocolate milk was the best idea ever. Hubs went to take our older kiddo to explore while I sat with meltdown Magee. The kitchen staff—friendly and fun—sensed my deteriorating spirits and brought me churros. I legit cried. This simple act of kindness just helped me feel seen in a place where it would be hard to be seen as a parent, because there are so many.

Thank you to the Magic House for making Magic not just for my kids, but for my tired parent soul.

All Around Enjoyable Place

By Bpowderton |

I take my 4 and 2 year old here periodically. It is always an enjoyable trip. Below are common scenes:

1. You kid will have information overload, but be hooked on one thing (at least mine are) for far to long.
2. There is always a clean bathroom nearby.
3. The cafeteria is small, but it never seems to be overly crowded.
4. Crowded... Yes, overly, no. Speaking of which, if you are from the Greater St. Louis, you will see someone you know.
5. Bring your kids, bring grandparents, bring water/juice for the kids!
6. Some places are extremely hot (jungle/play areas), and some are extremely cold (pending on the outside weather - "Construction Zone."
7. It's a very interactive area, all areas, and there is something (SOMETHING) your child(ren) will enjoy.
8. Parking - There is a smaller lot 'up top entrance,' but I have to park there (and I get there by 10AM). The 'lower lot' will be busy, but there will be spots.
9. The employees are nice, and will embrace any race/holiday/event/month/etc. For instance, the last time we went, it was Chinese New Year, and they had a nice little 15 minute 'party' with a dragon, some traditional music, and chants to celebrate.
10. It is reasonably priced. I believe we paid around 24 dollars for 2 kids/adults last time. Website has the prices listed. Also there is a membership option as well.

Overall, from a child perspective, it is very difficult to not have a great time, or find something interesting (building, historical, play areas, park-like-playgrounds, IT/technological areas, etc.).

Great time

By Alan A |

We came here with my granddaughter after a soccer game. We stayed for over 3 hours, it was a great time. There is a lot of interactive exhibits and a wide variety of things to do. They happened to be be doing Halloween costumes for the workers. She really liked getting autographs from all the different characters. The best part is they offer a military discount.

Awesome attractions for small families

By John |

We were looking for something to do with the kids to burn some energy before another few hours in the car and this place was AWESOME! There was so much to do and the kids are still taking about it. We spent hours here and it was worth the cost. If we are back in the area we will certainly be making this another pit stop. The staff was also very helpful at all the little “stations” for the kids. Thanks for the good memories.

Always a great experience!!!

By Dan D |

Wonderful place to visit! Older kids such as teenagers won’t enjoy as much but a must for someone with smaller kids! A definite visit especially on those hot summer days!

Was Worth The Entire Trip

By mjashaw |

We frequently meet our 6 year old granddaughter and her parents in St Louis. They fly in from BOS, thus our daughter I/L's comment, "The Magic House was worth the whole trip," is meaningful. They've often commented that St Louis has experiences to match Milwaukee. Zoo, Science Center, out door historical sites, natural history museum, parks .... and the magic house had always been on the "to do list" but we never got around to it ... 'till this time. Grand parents got worn out and went back to the hotel. Granddaughter and parents stayed an additional 1.5 hours. More experiential in nature as opposed to explanatory, it was a wonderful time for us all. We highly recommend it for the youth up to high school in your life. This can be an all day site.

The inexpensive lunches on site give exceptional value!

Great for young kids!

By laewagne |

Cool place! Great for younger kids (ours were 6 and 4). Entrance fee is $11 per person but it was worth it. The highlights were the electrostatic ball (makes your hair stand up!), wonderworks, construction zone, the bubble exhibit, and the 3 story slide.

Magically Entertaining

By Bill K |

Great place to take toddlers or ten year old's. A great mixture of science and magic all wrapped in a "fun" shell!

Very Nice for Tiny Tots

By Laurel B |

My husband and I went here to check out the children's museum for our grandkids. We felt like it was a wonderful museum for children 1-8 or so, but our grandkiddos are a bit older and we don't feel they would enjoy this as much as they have enjoyed the science museum downtown. We have 4 museum memberships in other cities--COSI and Ohio Village in Columbus, Ohio; Cincinnati History and Science Center Museum in Cincinnati, and Carrillon Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio. Our grandkids--ages 7 to teens love these museums and we often frequent them.

Highlight of our trip

By Mallory Smith |

We took our children thinking it was just a regular Children’s museum. We’ve been to many all over the South and Midwest and this is our favorite. My 9 year old said this is the most fun thing she’s ever done. It is huge. Unfortunately, we did this on our last day of our trip and had a long drive back home and couldn’t stay for as long as we wanted. We were there over 3 hours, but could have been another hour or two more. It’s a blast! The highlight of our vacation to St. Louis!

First time visit

By Jessica P |

I have been so exited to visit this place since I found it for my son's weekend birthday trip. He just turned 5 and loved this place! There was so many little activities. By the time we left I didn't realize how long we was there, time just flew on by with how much fun we was having. We will definitely visit again!

Just wanted to do a quick visit

By blade2dabone |

My wife had an idea to check this place out and it wasnon a day where it was free for a time. It was fun and there were a lot for the kids to do. Despite there being so many kids they loved it. The staff was great and friendly even tough I bet it was tough. Loved it and the kids did too , there is something for everyone . Multiple floors and math science chemistry Architecture fun for those who did n it like to think. All hands on so perfect for kids to make them think . I love this place and the name does not do it justice. A must see. I would recommend hand sanitizer when u come.

Busy and Fun

By austin_autumn |

We took our two year old here to visit on a Saturday morning. We arrived right at 9:30 when they opened and there was already a long line to get in. It moved quickly, though! Our daughter enjoyed most of the exhibits. She loved the sand and water play areas the most, though! As it got more crowded, it did become more difficult for us to move and play with her in some of the more popular areas. We kept exploring and were able to find places that weren't as busy, like the art studio area, where she enjoyed getting to paint her very own masterpiece! We would likely visit again, maybe when she is a little older.

Amazing fun

By TaraMcConkey |

Our son is 7. Be prepared to spend the day here. We were here for 5 hours, skipping 2 of the larger exhibits. They have the best mix of exhibits for different story ages that I have ever seen in a children's museum. For those of you with school aged children, the mystery exhibit is awesome! You do have to do it on order. That exhibit took an hour, but this was spring break. The near future exhibit is great for all ages and so is the bubble room.

I like they know their limitations, their food area is small. So they allow you to leave and comeback as long as the museum is open that day. We went to lunch and came back. The ticket prices are reasonable as well.

$55 for family of 5-lots of ‘under construction’ and non working things

By PersianPitBull |

We did the Science Museum in the morning and it was free, which was nice. We have a 5, 3 and 1 year old and everyone pays here. We are from Memphis and it reminded me of CMOM. Dinosaur Train (PBS) was the traveling exhibit which was nice. I feel like a lot of the kids stuff had ‘parts’ that were broken or a pieces of it were. The bubble room that was talked about was not that great, a lot of non working items there. The train didn’t work, lots of other things were under construction. It for sure was a lot of fun, but $55 was a little pricey. Seems like they could do some sort of family price, but nope. I would suggest that to them and get everything working, not under construction too. My kids did love it, and everyone was friendly but... need that elevator working for handicap and strollers, was exclusionary.

Amazing

By Corey O |

We went with our five year old and we're amazed by the sheer quantity of amazing things to do. This place has all the standard types of exhibits (e.g. groceries, construction, music, water table), but every one of them is the best quality version of that exhibit I've seen. I'd recommend anyone with preschool or early elementary aged kids dedicate at least 4 hours here on your first visit.

Loved the Magic House.

By kghowlett |

The Magic House has many many great attractions for any age child. The entry fee is reasonable which allows the whole family to enjoy the trip.

Loved every minute

Super fun time for my 10, 6 and 3 year olds. They loved it! Lots of hands-on exhibits. Very well done. Bonus: foster families get free entrance w/license. What a nice practice.

Family fun

By TheJulie |

We brought our 4 kids here ages 2-9. They absolutely loved this place and said it was their favorite out of all the places we visited. Lots of activities for all our ages and even us parents had fun. Nice outdoor area. Everything is kept clean by very efficient staff. Nice little cafe area selling health friendly food.

Lots of things to do. Lots of helpful staff.

By Clara E |

Possibly the best children's museum I have been to, including the Pittsburgh Children's Museum. This children's museum is particularly targeted to children 1-8ish, with it still being at least semiapplicable to children up to age 11. We were there 2.5 hours and didnt even see everything... because my kids had fun at all of it. I think their favorite places were in che childrens village, which is where a kid can pretend grocery shop and be a vet, etc.

One key feature that made this place great was that there is staff EVERYWHERE. They helped do the "your kid is too big for this section," "can i help you?" And helped keep things clean and tidy.

If you are around the area and you have small kids and need something to do, I recommend it.

Kids love it

By Sarah S |

I take me 3 & 5 year old many times a year. They love to explore it all! Pack a lunch, because you can be there alllll day. They have special holiday events throughout the year.

Too much fun

By Matt E |

We took my two boys ages 3 and 2, my goodness did they have fun exploring! There were activities for them both to enjoy. My youngest enjoyed the Clifford exhibit while my oldest loved the bubble room! My wife doesn't especially like crowds so if that's you the earlier you can go the better. It seemed like the closer to lunch we got the fuller it got. The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because the day we went the air conditioner was out on the top floor and the weather was very warm and humid which made the attraction where you touch an electrified orb which makes your hair stand on end impossible to do and we were quite looking forward to that.

Fun

By Jackie H |

This is a super fun museum for children. We had a solid two hours of fun. It was worth making the drive to visit. I think the museum is a big house with a building added on. Our favorite exhibit is the one in the basement that shows children the three branches of government. The climbing treehouse that goes three stories high is fun.

Full of Fun

By TheBennyStyles |

The Magic House is full of cool and adventerous ways to entertain your kids. The Magic House has a bunch of differnt rooms so that ypur kid can have fun learnign and playing at the same time. There is also life scenario rooms like a court room and a grocery store. It is fun and kids really enjoy it. Kids of young age and older kids can also enjoy this attraction. Very much recommended by me!

Great Place

By Chad H |

This place is well worth it. We go to a lot of children museum with our 3 kids 8, 4, and 2 and i thought we have seen most things. I was wrong this place has some amazing experiences we have not seen before. I would love to list all of them but there is too many you really have to just go and experience it yourself. Some highlights for my kids were the 3D images they created, the oval office and court room, the detective area, the bean stalk, clifford, and the children area where they went fishing. Highly highly recommend it.

Can't say enough good things

By Sue-from-Saint-Lou |

We thought a three-year-old would enjoy the museum, but the big surprise was how much fun the Magic House is for adults. The interactive areas are just so well done!

Fun but hectic

By devalera01 |

This is another great kids attraction in the area. It costs money to get in (very expensive compared to the free zoo, science center etc.!), but they obviously put the money into the exhibits and fun stuff to do. It can be very busy and it can be exhausting trying to keep track of a toddler in a place like this, but overall would recommend.

Kids had fun

By car t |

The kids had a great time but honestly I did not find anything to be that special. Also we sure did find a way to lose everyone at different points throughout the visit, and the teenage staff members were not overly helpful. I am sure we will return, but I still prefer the zoo or science center.

Lots of entertainment for the kids

By zomzie |

It really is a great place for entertaining young kids. Lots of kids and parents there early. We hadn't been there for twenty years, it was good then and it's even better now

Very good. You can spend all afternoon in the house.

By PlinioGalhardo |

Even when you reach and see the parking lot full, inside the house is very comfortable. The place can hold many people. You receive a map when you come, but it's unnecessary.
The volunteers are very pleasant and the attractions are well made. Excellent for the young ones. They should pay more attention at the exits signs because it was a bit confusing to find out the right exit who leads to the parking lot.

We had a great time at The Magic House

By Anne J |

My niece and I took our great niece, and two great nephews and they had a wonderful time. The little one was just over a year, but with his big cousin at 8, he was able to participate in a lot of the tunnels and climbing areas.

Best children's museum we've ever been to!

By swimmer79 |

We have been to several children's museums throughout the country, and this one takes the cake! It's all hands-on with simple things to experiment with like magnets and sand, to awesome technology like coloring a fish and having it show up on a projected aquarium or printing out a 3D design of your colored car. My 4 & 7 year old LOVED it! My only wish was that we could have stayed longer!

Fun kid learning and play activity

It was a great day for our 3 year old daughter. She played and learned for over 5 hours. It’s well worth the cost and time.

A GREAT Place for children!!!

Little kids, old kids (99) come and see the wonders this place has for you. So many fun experiements and projects your mid will spin but they sure make it a blast for everyone.

Educational Fun!

By Vicki1020 |

A great place for our grandsons, 5, 7 and 8 years old. There was something for everyone with the mystery room a highlight as we spent an hour there. They all loved the math area. If we lived in St. Luis I can see frequent visits. A real treasure!

Fun, interactive experience for kids

By Mary M |

The Magic House is so much fun for kids ages 2-12! So many fun and interactive activities that you can easily spend hours there! There is something for kids of all ages and I highly recommend it for families looking for a fun day activity.

Awesome !

Traveling with a 4 year old can be challenging. This children's museum kept him fully engaged for the 5 hours we were there. And best of all: healthy food/snacks to purchase!

Spent hours of fun there. Enjoyable for the 12-year-old and even for the 16-year-old. Always a good time!

Fun for Kids

By Gurnee_Sam |

My 5 years old son and 10 years old daughter had lots of fun. My son enjoyed the construction zone, fishing, and supermarket.
My daughter enjoyed the static ball (makes your hair straight - in a funky way). They have a very cool bubble zone and a mystery corner (you have a solve a crime).

Recommended for kids.

I have a 4 yr old granddaughter and she loved the Magic House. It was so much fun and educational. I bought her a year membership.

It's a Magical Place for Fun and Discovery

By RareGem |

The boys are excited to visit this place again! This was our last stop on our road trip before hitting back home. This place offers a ton of opportunities for your family to enjoy. From building, STEAM projects, role-playing, problem-solving, experiment, hands-on activities, painting, creativity, etc! They enjoy exploring every room and floor of this house. We've been here several times and it never gets old. When I asked them what’s their most favorite, they said, “Everything!” As much as we want them to enjoy, as adults, we didn't hesitate to not too as well. I think we spent more time playing in one area before finally leaving! This month they feature the Indian culture on the 2nd floor! We enjoyed checking the TukTuk and the Bollywood area! I took more photos via my Canon and only captured a photo from one room! Will update the photos 😂!

A lot of fun

By Chris K |

About $10 a person, my 18 month old loved it. We will definitely come back again. There are a lot of different things to do.

Fun for kids

By Priscilla V |

This was our first visit to the Magic House. We took our 6 and 4 year old. It was the last day of Easter break in town (which we didn’t know prior to arrival) so it was quite busy. The traveling dinosaur train exhibit was pretty boring and we didn’t spend any time in there at all. There’s a lot of hands on stuff here and it was perfect for my kids. They loved the little town, especially the fishing corner. They also enjoyed the area for smaller kids with the water and sand areas. We all thought it was cool to color our own sea animal, scan it in and see it swim across the screen! We found the first floor and the basement in I believe it was the north building to be the most fun for us. They enjoyed the space area and the art studio in there basement. There were a lot of staff walking around and cleaning things up so when kids arrived at a play station they could actually play and not have to clean up before they played. The little cafe was pretty decent but overpriced as all cafes in museums are. We had a really good time, even with the crowd. The only struggle we really had was with our stroller. While there are elevators, most of the play spaces don’t really have a lot of room to bring in a stroller, park it/turn it around, etc. It was a great source of irritation and given the chance to do it again I wouldn’t have taken the stroller at all!

A must in St. Louis if you have kids!

By Heather R |

This place is amazing. Our son had a blast here. It seemed like the place had a 100 different rooms to play in. Just when you thought you had made it to all the cool rooms, you turn the corner and there is more. we will be back!

Lots of fun for little kids!

By Katie P |

We were supposed to go to the Cardinals game yesterday, but it got rained out, so we took our 17 month old to The Magic House instead. This place is a blast for young kids! They even have a dedicated area for children under 24 months. My son loved just climbing up and down the stairs! There is also a room where you can blow huge bubbles. That was a hit with him. In addition, he liked catching a fish in the fishing pond and looking at the model train. I look forward to taking him back when he is older and more into the puzzles and imagination/pretend areas they have. I highly, highly recommend this place for any families with young kids.

Fantastic

By NerualAit |

It was a fantastic experience for my kids ages 2 and 4. There were so many things for them to explore and enjoy. I highly recommend this for young kids. We spent over 3 hours here and could have been there longer but it was going to close. The food at the cafe was tasty too.

Short family get-a-way

By Havana1974 |

We had to change vacation plans at last minute so we decided on St. Louis. First stop Magic House. 9 of us, with 3 being under 39 months, all charged as adults. Enjoyed it but a lot of the exhibits were not functioning. Granddaughters love trains and only function working was the horn sound. Trains stayed idle. Clifford the Dog was not working as well.

What an experience!!!

By morganarnold2 |

What an experience! Holy cow! This place is SOOOO cool for all ages. I'm 28 and even thoroughly enjoyed it. We had such a blast and hope to go back in a year or two. Thankfully, we had two BOGO coupons that brought our total to $36. We definitely got 36 dollars worth of fun this past weekend. I highly recommend taking your children here!

Loud and chaotic

By AbbyStLouis |

Took our almost-10 and almost-12 year old nieces on a crowded day. They were too old for some of the exhibits. They did enjoy the 3-story slide, the beanstalk climb, the air puff tubes (not sure what they were called, located by the kids construction zone), the mock government rooms, and the light-brite-style thing.

They also enjoyed the art studio on the lower level. We spent close to an hour in there just doing art projects. The art materials were free to use and it was much quieter than the rest of the museum. I definitely recommend it if you need a break from the chaos in the rest of the building.

The cafe had good kid-friendly options.

My chief complaint is how loud and cacophonous the place is. It needs sound dampening materials. Loud exhibits, loud competing sounds from adjacent exhibits, echoey lobbies, and lots of people in close quarters all created a chaotic atmosphere. I wonder how many of the kids’ meltdowns we witnessed were due to sensory overload. (Disclaimer: I’m the aunt not the parent so maybe I’m less acclimated to kid chaos.)

Fun, fun, fun!

By froberts1024 |

This place is a good time for kids of all ages.
It can be a bit pricey for a large family but it is FUN!

“ Excellent”

By ccmom7781 |

What a wonderful place to take children. Loved it and so did my granddaughter. So many fun and educational areas to explore. Thank you.

Fun for the whole family

By Colport |

I took my kids to visit The Magic House while we were in St. Louis visiting friends and family. We had a great afternoon exploring all of the exhibits. I hadn't been since I was 18 years old (quite a few years ago), so it was cool to see all of the additions. My kids loved the three-story slide....I can't even begin to count how many times they went down it while we were there. We had snacks at the Picnic Basket Cafe....there was a nice selection of snacks and the prices were good.

Educational

By travelingthrough707 |

Great museum with lots to do and see. More educational than most children’s museums. This is our second favorite one we’ve been to. Phoenixs children’s museum being our favorite. Need at least 3-4 hours to see, learn and play with everything. We did notice some of the children there were not as well behaved as others we’ve visited around the country. That was the only negative. Not the museums fault. More geared towards younger children 2-7. Not much for the 8-12 year old to do here.

Fun for kids

By Deb L |

I took two of my grandchildren (ages 4 and 22 months). They had been before and knew where to guide me to their favorite activities. They have plenty of staff to help you when needed especially in the area for the younger children. We took along a picnic lunch to eat under the large gazebo. It was near the parking lot and had several large tables.

A nice museum for kids.

By Mike H |

We took our kids here to play for an afternoon. There are lots of different areas and activities. Our kids really enjoyed the art areas where there could scan their pictures and have them rendered in 3D on video displays.

There were a number of places where they could climb and play as well.

Something for everyone

By billbX7811YK |

Our two grandchildren were not excited to go. Once there, they did not want to leave. There are several really cool activities that draw your attention.

Magic and Imagination

By Jim S |

The Magic House is just that, magic. It's a place built for families and children. It might best be described as a House of all things STEM. Overflowing with hands-on exhibits, the Magic House engages, interacts with and fires the imagination of children of all ages.

As you wander from room to room, it will be hard to decide who is smiling more, parents or kids. Almost every room has several STEM related exhibits or games or situations which welcome exploration and learning. The learning comes from the play, not from "teaching", so anyone can play...at whatever level they are.

Create learning.

By Danielle M |

Our kids love the magic house and ask to visit. Every year they have a different favorite. This year our girl was all about the court room. Our son about making bubbles. Last year he loved the fishing and she loved being in the baby hospital.

Great Children's Museum

By Jamie J |

My kids have a blast here. We come for the day or just a few hours. There is so much to do here. My kids have enjoyed having birthday parties here as well.

Great Family Attraction

By Ann T |

A good place to take the family! From the very little ones to teenager and beyond, you will find lots to do. Experience the hair raising (sticking out of your hair). With a picture , of course, and feel every hair on your stand up straight. Each child will make memories in a different way. See your face in nails.....no, doesn't hurt, and push them back in and make your hand! Lots of different things to do, for all ages. SEE you there!

Great place to take the kids

By KenFromIllinois |

Our group included twins ( 1.6 years old), a 2.3 year old, a 4.5 year old, and a 6.3 year old. For the 4 & 6 this place is a 5 star visit. For the 2, a 4 star visit, for the under twos only 2 stars. There are a ton of activities for kids under 8. Older - forget it! Lots of interactive devices and some climbing apparati. The 4 & 6 didn't want to leave. Younger than that faced the need for a nap. They serve lunch (we elected to leave). I would say that is a goto place for 4-7 year olds anytime. Under that age makes this a candidate destination. 3s would probably love it. Under 3 and you might be taxed.

Covid Palace

By Angela H |

The Magic House is not currently following Covid related protocols to keep visitors safe. There are no apparent capacity restrictions and the rooms are teeming with unmasked unvaccinated children. Stunningly irresponsible. Visit at your own risk.

Great Children's Museum! Fun for all ages.

By BWT |

This attraction is consistantly rated one of the top 2 children's museums in the country. It is really fun for all ages. Lots of creativity and accidental learning goes on here. Great location near a neighborhood area in a St. Louis suburb. About 20 minutes from downtown St. Louis. You can spend several hours here "fishing", building, sliding, playing with water, rubber bands, electricity-stand your hair on end, endless activities.

child's play

By billbX7811YK |

We took two grandchildren here in March 2018. They had to be pushed to go. We could not get them to believe. So many things to do and they are interactive so they keep the kids busy. Very clean and well run. Certainly worth the cost.

must do

By Sharon A |

This is a must do if you are visiting St. Louis. We recently visited there with 3 year olds and a 7 year old. A lot of interactive activities for all ages and I think the adults had as much fun as the kids. Other cities should use this as an example of what outstanding looks like for kids activities. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

A kids place with lots of variety

By lreutter |

Spent several hours here with an 8 yr-old girl. She enjoyed several areas, especially the "village" area with grocery store, bank, vet, & more. A fun & educational experience.

Perfect for kids!!

By Katie K |

What a cool place!! Went with a 6, 4, and 18 month old. So much to do!! And the cafe was great too, inexpensive and pretty tasty. Loved the mini city and wonderworks area. The Molly of Denali exhibit was also a big hit!

A must for a trip with kids

By gram07_10 |

This is an amazing children's adventure. My grandkids absolutely loved this place. They didn't want to leave when the place closed.

I had questions about the house. A young man who is apparently some kind of a manager came out to tell me the history of the museum

It is an amazing hands on museum. It is well managed and things are put back in place and not scattered all over the museum like it is in other chidren's museums I have visited.

Grand kids visiting

By xam9119 |

This place has something for all aged children, probably most for ages 2 to 14. It is very interesting and very well organized. It is pretty crowded at times and fairly noisy. Really a lot of fun for my 4 year old granddaughter.

Off the Beaten Path

By Marguerite D |

I love the use of magic with scientific technology. I think it will be a great pathway to new discovery.

AMAZING!!!

By Andrea B |

A full day of fun! Every exhibit was engaging and hands on. One of the best children’s museums we’ve ever visit!

Fun day for young kids

By rickbrennanrn |

Went there with our son and his family to let the grandkids run around. A little pricey when you pay the same price for everyone, one year and older. Four adults in our group with a two and four year old made the total close to $100. A decent chunk given the entire experience is for very young kids. That being said, my grandkids had a very good time. There were a ton of interactive activities for them to do. There is a mock grocery store set up, a bank, a veterinary clinic, auto shop, kitchen, and many more areas. Gives a chance for some real world teaching opportunities. Two is on the too young to really enjoy it side. Four to eight seems to be a more appropriate age range. Could see this be a place to go to routinely if you lived in the area. They do offer a membership pass. A fun day for the grandkids that gave us a chance to hang out with them for the day.

Pricey but fun!

By DuneBug2 |

Having to pay two adult admissions to bring one child always makes an outing to The Magic House feel expensive to me. Sure there are discounts out there but it still makes for an expensive afternoon, especially considering the number of free attractions the St. Louis area has to offer.

But once the price is paid, we have always enjoyed our time here. There is so much to do and my daughter loves every minute of it! It's often crowded but going to another area usually helps. It's clear a lot of care and attention is given to the layout and setup of the exhibits. Most of them are great, we especially enjoy checking out new traveling exhibits, but sometimes we have encountered things not working properly. It's a bummer but with so many children (and their grown-ups!) going through here I guess it's bound to happen.

Staff always seems friendly, alert, and helpful. Many areas are gated off with a staff member attending, so children cannot wander off to another area on their own. It's really a nice touch because in a place like this even the most attentive parent can easily lose sight of little ones.

The grounds are nice and they have an area for picnicking. My biggest piece of advice would be to bring aspirin! It can be very loud and chaotic in some of the areas but the kids will love it.

Fun for younger kids

By CJTD_CloverLeaf4 |

This place is more manageable for parents with young kids. It’s not as large or as fun as the City Museum, but better for little kids (3-5). It probably ideal for kids 5-10. There are activities and civics lesson (faux courtroom). Kids older than 10 would probably prefer the City Museum downtown.

Kids fun!

By hoss4twa |

Haven't been in years- but when we did go- the place was a blast for little kids- a lot for them to do- a real learning, hands on museum! I think you can get coupons to get a discount on fee.

The kids loved it

By Ray C Z |

Went twice because the kids loved it so much. So many things for them to do at the Magic House. They enjoyed themselves tremendously and this in a stimulating, educational environment.

Wonderful place for kids

By Sarah G |

I took my four year old here for the afternoon. She had a blast. There are learning opportunities of all kinds- STEAM, pretend play, cultural, you name it. I highly recommend visiting the magic house if you’re in St Louis.

Wonderful family day

By Seiggy17 |

We took our 7 year-old daughter last weekend and I'm not sure who had more fun....her or us!! There was so much to do, it's definitely an all day adventure! Everything is interactive and educational at the same time. We can't wait to go back soon.

Truly a Magic Family Experience

By hitman2013 |

Our family visits the Magic House annually, often at the wishes of out-of-town relatives and guests. This facility is an absolute must for the kids, with a wide range of educational and fun activities.

If you are able to visit during summer vacation it won’t be so crowded. During the school year, don’t be surprised to find several school busses that contain students on a field trip, which further attests to the quality offerings of the Magic House.

As a parent or grandparent, you may be surprised at how involved you become with the kids in the various activities. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend some real ‘quality time’ with youngsters as you learn together.

The Magic House is INCREDIBLE!!

By Lilbree |

Let me start my review by saying The Magic House is a 10 out of 10! I heard so much about it before coming that it was a must when we came to St. Louis. So many activites (educational) for kids and that my son didn't want to leave. I would definitely recommend for anyone to visit. As an adult, I had a great time! Food was organized and ordered before I got there. Cimone was so helpful. Great job!

Amazing!

By n2quiltingorders |

If you're looking for something to do with young children that is in an air-conditioned building, this is it! I went with grandchildren several times over the past few years, and there is always something new to see and do. However, if noise bothers you, this is certainly not a quiet place to reflect!

A great time for kids and adults!

By Rachel Clary |

We recently took our six year old to the Magic House on a Saturday and had an absolute blast. He enjoyed the climbing and physical activity as well as the exhibits that let him use his imagination. I think our favorite room is the one where you color an object and it's scanned and transformed into 3D and goes up on the wall (ours were cars, trucks, planes, and houses but friends have said that the room also has had underwater items too). It's a great experience that encourages exploration, investigation, and creativity while engaging the senses.

It’s so crazy.

By Megan G |

When I was younger, probably 12 and below I liked this place. But after the third time I was sick of it. They haven’t changed anything except for one room in at least eight years. It is a good place to go to once but after that it won’t be near as fun. If you have young children it may be nice for you to go. But keep in mind the magic house is always packed, it’s loud and always crazy. Kids run around everywhere, pushing into you or other kids. There’s screaming as well as crying. It’s good to visit once but keep in mind it’s insane there.

Great for creative, imaginative kids

By Tiffany N |

I'm impressed at the number of stations for the cost. And because not many people know about it yet, there wasn't a crowd (but I did go on a weekday).

My daughter is 3 and she enjoyed it very much. She was able to mold with clay and build with large blocks. There's a reuse and recycle station where you can make whatever your heart's desire. Digital easel for painting and paper for creating with paint or makers.

It's free on family night which is from 5-8 on the third Friday of each month. And teachers are free with proof of employment until September 2. But I’d pay $5 for my daughter to go back. It’s worth that.

Prioritize Profit Over People

By Fisher M |

When we heard that Magic House was reopening and had strict safety measures in place, we purchased tickets and drove cross-state to take our 7-year-old granddaughter. Our visit lasted approximately 30 minutes. Not only were people bumping into each other, but we were among the few wearing masks. We've visited the Magic House before and understand how excited children can become, but it was absolutely out of control. Many of the displays were closed due to safety concerns, but that just meant more people crowded near the displays and activities that were available. Magic House management disrespected the public in three ways: By exaggerating how safe it would be, not enforcing the wearing of masks, and having no plan in place to direct traffic. They are clearly more interested in profit than people. There is zero chance we would ever visit again.

Great place to take kids, that parents will enjoy as well

By David B |

Great exhibits and activities for all age groups. Very friendly staff on hand to assist or answer any questions. Some weekends can get pretty busy, but there is never a feeling of being overcrowded.

Kids enjoy it.

By Mark H |

A variety of activities, not just spectating, for kids; a nice level of supervision with the attendants actually paying attention. The best assessment: the kids wanted to go back.

FUN!

By jlw2018 |

This is a great place for the kids! It's enjoyable for the parents as well. It's size is big enough to have lots to offer, but not so large as to where you worry about losing your kids. Enjoy!

Fun for the kids

By Heather H |

The kids always love going to the magic house. It is such a fun place where their brains get simulated and they can touch EVERYTHING< Loads of fun, plan on spending a couple hours here to really see everything.

Wonderful place for kids!!

By cardnut23 |

The Magic House is a great for kids for 2 to 12. My grandkids, (4 and 3) just loved it. Very organized. Loads of stuff for the kids to do. It can get crowded and noisy. The parking is not the best, but they are working on it. If you are visiting St Louis with young kids, this is a great place.

Visited several times over the years

By gina r |

This is a great place to visit with young children and teenagers.
There are many exhibits that will entertain them for hours.
It is a good place to go on rainy day or on a very hot St. Louis day.
The magic house does birthday parties for the young and old. They seem to be expanding all the time.
The original house was actually the Kirkwood school district administration offices and before that someone's home.
It's a piece of Kirkwood's history that has been preserved!!

Your kids will spend hours here!

By Justin R |

My 4 year old daughter and I went here while stopping in St Louis. We were there for 3 hours but could have easily been there longer. There is so much to see and do. We were there on a Wednesday morning and there were quite a few kids there. When you walk in you can go left or right. To the left are the exhibits that can change and to the right are the permanent ones that are more interactive. My daughter definitely had more fun with the permanent exhibits. I think she would have needed to be a little older for the exhibits on the left side. There is lots of learning and playing to be done here!

Great Day with the Grandson and wife

By sgisme |

Took my grandson to the Magic House and we had a great time! He had a ball, loved playing with digging equipment, playing in the bubble room, putting on the Blues gear and well he loved everything. Can’t wait to go back, we purchased a yearly pass and he now asks his parents to go all the time. Great time for kids and family.

Simplistic fun

By ABSeymou |

This place was nothing extraordinary but it was still a lot of fun for kids. Our little ones are 2 and under and there was plenty for them to safely play with for 3+ hours. Lots of different areas and there looked like stuff for the bigger lids too we just didn't explore those areas. It's a laid back fun place for kids to explore and have fun. I definitely recommend it for a family with younger kids, it's worth the $11 admission price.

Fantastic magic house

By Ingela61 |

It’s really a fantastic magic house for children in all ages. We were there with our granddaughter and we had a really good time.

Not enough staff

By mandiemo81 |

Now of course this was during the hottest day of the year. There were a ton of school groups and parents with multiple children that were unable to keep an eye on everyone. The layout is a bit confusing especially since I had not been there since I was a young child. Most of the exhibits were great but there was not enough staff for that amount of visitors. When we came to the static ball, there were 3 staff members. One was kicked back with his feet up when the rest of the place was crazy.

Wonderful Family Activity

By AriS938 |

This is a hands-on experience for children. Take your kids/grandkids/nieces/nephews/cousins, etc. You will not be disappointed.

Great for young children

We took our kids (5 and 1) here on a really hot day, too much to be out and about in St. Louis.

The kids loved it and didn't want to leave anymore! :-) we spent a good couple of hours there and in spite of the fact that activities are not that many compared to other places we've been to, they are very diverse and should help keep most kids entertained for at least a couple of hours.

A MUST DO IF YOU HAVE KIDDOS

By Ekekla08 |

A great way to see science in action in a fun way with your kiddos. Adults love it too. I went on dates here in college, because it is so fun!

A Truly Magical Place

By Jane S |

Although my middle daughter and her three children stayed in St Louis two nights, there was still not enough time to do the Magic House justice. Each room and hands on activity held us mesmerized to a point that we could barely leave one room to go to another. And the Magic House is deservingly large...it just goes on and on because of an addition to the main building. It was difficult for the children (all under 7) to choose a “favorite” room or activity. The very last thing we did there was play with computer images in the “future” room, as I dubbed it. Images that the children drew and colored were cast up onto a large screen that looked like a village or city that we could add an building or an airplane or car to by uploading the drawing. There was also a 3 D printer, and we each could take a flat image from the computer and fold it into a three dimensional object. Pretty cool! And there is a small cafeteria/restaurant in the House that serves fresh and delicious food...very health conscious. This place brings the child out of adults and tickles the brains of children of every age.

Magic

By Niamh o |

Great place for the kids. 15-20 different rooms. Easily could spend a whole day here. Suitable for children of all ages

Crowded but so fun!

By nannyheadie |

Being spring break it was VERY busy. There were also school groups there. We still had fun. My kids enjoyed every minute of their time there. We have SO much left to explore next time we visit St.Louis! My kids loved exploring and being immersed in kid sized real world living areas. My big kiddos favorite part was coloring / designing types of transportation and then they make it 3D and it gets scanned onto a screen! My little one who is 2.5 loved everything she did. It was a great experience despite the craziness of spring break. It just left more for us to do next time!!

Superb—highly recommend!!

By TheFamFive |

Came on vacation with our family—I had been here as a kid and remembered having fun but couldn’t remember specifics. Everything about this place is excellent—from the staff to the exhibits to the cleanliness and relevance of the museum. We got there at opening time and while it was crowded, it is spacious enough to not feel like you are constantly in someone’s way or waiting your long periods of time to use an exhibit. We went on a rainy Friday and the attendance was pretty constant throughout the day. We stayed until 4:00 and two of our 3 kids did not want to leave (7 yo boy, 8 & 10 yo girls). We brought our own lunch and would have sat outside to eat had it been a nice day but sat on the floor outside the little cafe instead. One thing I was really impressed with was that I saw signs that encouraged parents to alert staff if there was an exhibit that needed attention and apparently they aren’t joking. One of the exhibits at the beginning of he day was out of commission but when we checked on the exhibit later on it had been fixed. Staff were very visible and willing to help all day and could be seen throughout the day tidying up, trying to get exhibits (and technology especially) back on track.
Not one negative thing to say about the magic house—definitely worth a stop when you come to St. Louis!

Bubble room

By Rhonda B |

The kids love the bubble room! They always see who can make the biggest bubbles. The construction site is also a favorite.

I had to pry my 10 year old out when they were closing.

By nannymomma |

My 10 year old granddaughter originally didn't want to go. She thought it looked like it was for younger kids. When we still had an afternoon left on our trip with nothing to do, she agreed to go to the Magic House. She had a blast. So much fun. She was beyond happy that she had decided to give it a try. Every floor was filled with new adventures.

Has more than expected

By tommissimo |

Took 4 kids (3-11) and stayed about 4.5 hrs. You are able to leave and come back as well. Theres a lot of different areas. Kids can climb a 2 story enclosed bean stalk, go down a huge slide, arts, construction. It got full in the afternoon but it's a big place spread out. If you have kids and never been I recommend for 3-12 yes olds.

Fun for all ages

By SAS0828 |

One of our family favorites - fun for all ages. Very educational and tons of opportunities for hands on experience. They often have special events that are worth planning the timing of your visit around.

Good but questions

By MK1861 |

Lots of really nice STEM activities set up for children, and really perfect for school groups that are prepared by teachers for the visit. Unfortunately, few parents were directing their children and simply let them play, resulting in minimal, if any learning for the children. Plenty of staff to keep things picked up and to supervise, but directed learning was not occurring.

Excellent

By fullmoon2008 |

Our one year old absolutely loved It! I would recommend it to any parent who has an inquisitive child and enjoys hands on play.

Great place for kids

By Anne S |

This is a great place for kids. They have a static electricity ball you can put your hand on and your hair will stand up . I did this with long and the picture wasn't that great.

2nd Visit Did Not Disappoint

By Desmond574 |

This was our second trip to "The Magic House" and it didn't disappoint. We actually chose it over the more famous "City Museum" in St. Louis but primarily because this place caters to young children (which we have). Lots of hands on activities and imagination play for our 3 and 5 year old. They loved it. We spent 3 hours here and that seemed like an adequate amount of time.

Amazing place for kids,of all ages

By aporch |

Aimed at the younger set. SO much fun! I love going to the Magic house with my grandkids, it is huge! There is one area just for 8 and under. The creative area downstairs is great for older kids. In between there are special exhibits, a village, three story slide and many other things to do. When you get there you and pre-order a reasonably priced basket lunch and it will be ready at the time you asked for it. We always to that. Stollers are a pain so try not to bring them in unless you have to. It is worth the money to get in.

Educational and lots of activities

By Danielle M |

This is a wonderful educational stuff for a family with children. There are four floors of activities. We spent the whole day climbing and playing and learning, which can be a rarity for small children.

Best children's attraction in St. Louis

By Kayla B |

The Magic House is an amazing collection of science experiments, history and activities for children of all ages. Some notable favorites are: The veterinary hospital where kids can be vets, the pizza parlor and library where kids can role play. The huge glow ball room where the balls make music as they are pushed around. Kids can design their own cars and then see them come to life on the floor to ceiling screens surrounding 3 walls. There is always an exhibit that will knock your socks off. I could go on and on. We always discover a new area each time we go. Buy a membership, it's totally worth it!

Fun for all ages!

By williamsS6923MM |

Fun for all ages of kids. A bit loud & crowded, but so much to do that you can just move to another area. Allow at least half a day to experience most of it.

Great children's Museum

By Jeremey W |

The magic house is a pretty standard children's museum, but it did have a few special touches. The presidential area was very fun and unique. The construction area was a big hit, but the sand box area was a little to exposed for our group on an almost 100 degree day. There was one area where the smells from an exhibit were a little intense, but do not let that deter you!

Kid Heaven

By Mary L |

Took all the grandkids there before Christmas and have recently purchased a grandparent membership so we can go back when ever we want...There is so many choices no child could be bored

Fun Rainy Day

By FoodieSports |

We took our 3 year old son, and he had a great time. We went on a rainy Saturday, and it was pretty crowded. This meant that there were some lines for certain activities. It also meant there were some rude kids who would butt through and not wait their turn. But, overall, there are lots of different activities to do and to try. It is very hands on. We were there for 3 hours, and we did not have time to go through the entire place. The main negative is that it is pretty costly. We brought the grandparents with us, and it cost everyone $12 to get in. They do have a senior discount which allowed the grandparents to get in for $11. So, it cost us $58 for our family to get in and watch our 3 year old play. He had a blast, and I am glad we went. But, it is a one time trip, unless you have a membership.

Magic in St. Louis

By glenn f |

Great place to take the kids, hands on activities, lots to see and do. You will want to be sure this is a must if in St. Louis. Located close to good food and shopping.

Visit!

By Nick W |

We had a great time here! Our kids (4 & 7) enjoyed all the House had to offer. For $12 each, it was reasonably priced. We enjoyed the India and Dinosaur Train exhibits as well as all the other, more permanent exhibits. It was a little crowded but that didn’t detract from our fun. It’s definitely worth a visit!

Great for all ages!

By jgardner33 |

We took our 10 month old and he had a blast. He is visually impaired and all the color and textures and movement and sounds was very stimulating and he had a great time. Staff is kind and helpful. If we lived in St Louis we would definitely get a membership. My husband and I had fun also. It's such a cool place. One day is not enough to really be able to do everything.

The kids had a blast.

By m a |

Our 11 and 6 year olds had a blast all day. Lots of hands on things to do. Easily available discount coupons made it a good value. While they were all over the building over and over again, the bubble room was their favorite. The first hour or so we had to pry them away from activities so they could see more. Once they had covered the entire house the race was on to see how much they could pack into one day. There is a sandwich shop and returning after lunch was a breeze. Get there early and have your mind set to stay until close.

Family Visit

By John S |

Your young children will not get bored during their visit as there are activities and learning centers for all interests

A Must-Do

By wampus89 |

We spent SIX HOURS with our 5-year-old at Magic House and did not do everything there was to do here (did her favorite things more than once). If you have young children there is nothing better to do in St. Louis. Even as a parent I was rarely bored. I would say there were a couple more broken activities than I would have expected but this is probably due to it peaking the peak of summer.

I don’t know why Magic House- MADE doesn’t have their own separate TripAdvisor page but Google it, it is unreal!!!

One note: The electrostatic ball is loud AF and scared our girl too much to use it. The guy working that area was the only unfriendly worker we ran into.

For Younger Kids

By traveler99992017 |

Absolutely terrific for younger kids but not so much for older ones. Parents may expand their perspectives also on a couple of exhibits. Attend on one of their reduced cost days because it can be expensive.

Better than expected

By cynthia s |

It’s an old, large house converted into a children’s play place with math, art, science, make-believe and a little history. It’s similar to other children’s museums but is the largest we’ve visited.

What an awesome place!!

By SDOriginal78 |

We were looking to burn a few hours before our flight home. And I wish we had had more time. So much hands on excitement. The Childrens museum in San Diego has nothing on this place. Multiple interactive rooms, a grocery store with check out stands and a fully stocked store, a veterinary office, with kennels, hair dryers and operating tables, a pond to fish in, you catch it and release up stream, and then follow it back down, at rooms, where you can scan your masterpiece in and see it in 3d on a big screen. I highly recommend a visit here.

Fun for all ages!

By Steffie303 |

This was the best idea for a hot summer day with my gradchildren. Even their Dad loved the place, so much to learn and do, we could have stayed all day!

Still a great place to take kids.

By PBSpeakeasy |

Visited here with our 12 and 9 year old grandkids friday and had a great time. Even the 12 year old forgot for a while that he was supposed to be cool rather than have a good time. He was soon running around playing with all the stuff, too. This is a very "hands on" experience, and that's just what they did. Great way to spend 3 to 4 hours seeing cool stuff and playing raucously Oh, yeah, being packed with kids, it is NOISY. Be prepared for that, old folks!.

Great for kids

By R_Chapman |

My husband and I took our youngsters to the Magic House and loved it. There is so much to do here, kids can play for hours without getting bored. We would happily recommend the Magic House to anyone. They do a great job of catering to all ages - there is even an infants’ area and a special play area for younger kids - although kids of all ages can enjoy most of the displays. The only downside is that it can get very crowded depending on the day (and time) that you visit. When there are a lot of kids it can become a bit of a madhouse – particularly with children who aren’t being properly supervised by their parents.

Child Heaven

By Holly |

My children absolutely love this place. They could spend all day here if you let them. It's well worth the money! They are also very strict with their COVID rules.

Probably best for 2 or over...

By ibrittney |

Recently visited with my 18 month old. Don’t get me wrong, she had a great time BUT many (most?) of the exhibits are geared for children much older. A 5 year old would be able to do/understand 95% of the exhibits. Our daughter, could not.

We were recommended the Magic House because she loves pretend shopping and they have a grocery store, bank, gas station, etc. Unfortunately, these areas were very small and, while adorable, are still geared toward much older children. She could do the grocery store except that there are full size carry baskets instead of small carts so she couldn’t hold it and the place was EXTREMELY busy.

I was obviously disappointed but am still giving 4 stars. Here’s why-

Excellent interactive activities - most related to STEM. 👍🏻

Attentive staff - we were very impressed with their commitment to security. Employees are posted at gates throughout making sure that parents and children don’t get separated. We saw one family of 3 kids/1 parent get split at a gate and the employee was quicker than the parent to realize it had happened and begin to correct the problem. 👍🏻❤️👍🏻

We will definitely be back when our little one is a bit older.

Kids loved it!

By Autumn P |

We only were able to spend about 1.5 hrs here due to closing but all my kids loved it! It's a little crazy and kids are everywhere and not all have a responsible adult watching them or with them. Take Germ-X. There's a few places with it and there's restrooms but you'll want to use it often. So many cool, hands on activities for toddles all the way up to teenagers. Sad we didn't have more time. Will definitely come back if in the STL area again. Parking is free and it's $11 for anyone over the age of 1 to get in.

Family of five - Busy full half-day!

By Karen N |

We visited at opening time in the morning with our three kids ages 11, 5, and 2. We met some friends there with Theo three little ones and it got crowded fast! Parking is free, but be sure to printout a coupon for each person- it adds up quickly at $11 per person. There is something for all ages and everything is hands-on, jump-on- no worries about them breaking anything! My oldest spent the most time in the LEGO room, but we visited the water room, art room, village of shops and fishing for magnetic fish in a real stream under the floor. It was a ton of fun- just a bit of a maze to keep track of everyone. We left for a late lunch and the kids were wiped out! They have a cafe with all kinds of snacks, beverages, and light lunch fare- we brought our own things and the bathrooms were clean and family friendly.

PERFECT rainy day activity

By Lisa B |

You can spend a full day here with all of the activities, we actually enjoyed this more than the Indianapolis Children's Museum. Spent the day here, and ballgame in the evening. Kids were happy and slightly worn out!

Fabulous for All My Kids

By Amy B |

This place was absolutely amazing! The activities that interested our kids (ages 8 months to 11 years) were endless. They had pretend play, tunnels, bubble rooms, stem and steam play, art rooms, cultural rooms and more! Everything was very well maintained and curated. They even had info on the walls to help parents/guardians know how to use these play set-ups as teaching moments. We were there for 2 hours before getting lunch in their super-kid-friendly cafe, and we stayed a few more hours after. We really could have stayed all day. Parking was free. Even with a full parking lot, it wasn’t too crowded inside. Highly, highly recommend!

Fantastic Place for Families

Hands on activities for kids of all ages from infants to older elementary. Well worth the trip and the entrance fees.

Magic House

By Joan N |

Went with out of town relatives with children about 8 years old. Everyone had a great time and even though they all have different interest this was one of the best places to go because they could all do their own thing.

Great but still a children's museum

By J Harden |

Check it out... This was a great visit for myself, wife and girls (6 and 9). End of day, it is a fantastic children's museum but still a children's museum. The Magic House does everything well. Cafe, bathrooms throughout, enough space to enjoy activities, and a diverse selection of areas from 3D art and an actual painting room to an old attic with turn of the century clothes/toys and an outside area that included a sandcastle. It took us 3 hours to make our way through most of the areas. It was worth the $40 for the 4 of us. We combined this St Louis visit with Grant's Farm. It was a nice blend of indoor and outdoor activities. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed the facility and activities. Asking the girls, they loved it but enjoyed the animals, carousel, tram ride and Clydesdales of Grant's Farm a bit more. You can't go wrong doing both in same weekend and it wouldn't be too much to do.

A must for kids

By nataliey604 |

This was our 2nd time visiting the Magic House and the kids had just as much fun as the last time! This is one of their favorite places, we spend all day there. Highly recommend. If we lived closer, we would get a membership. Something for all ages.

Kids love this place.

By Brian |

Every time we come to the St. Louis area, this is one of the places we have to visit during the trip.

Always a fun stop

By Mark Barnes |

We have been here 2 or 3 times. Seeing the building i wasn't expecting a lot but it was so worth the stop. My kids love this place. From little kids to about 12 this is a very fun place.

Even older kids (9,11,13) enjoyed this!

By EllaPaige |

I have fond memories of this place from when I was a kid ... when I lived in Kirkwood years and years and years ago. We were here visiting family so I insisted my kids go.

My kids thought it was going to be a “lame kids museum that catered to toddlers.” It definitely had a younger kid demographic. However while I was paying the entrance fees — my kids were immediately engrossed in the “music instruments” they had in the adjoining room. They were trying to play sings and harmonizing (little success) but still fun!

My youngest has been creating things from packing tape for years! She had me take detailed pictures of the TapeScape slide (see image) ... I fear I am going to have a TaleScape slide if my own.

We went into the 3 branches of government ... they loved playing judge and jury etc.

The Math Path was a huge hit! All challenges were set up for younger kids, but they made them more complicated; weaving patterns, creating artistic patterns, trying to overcome the inherent perils of the LEGO racetrack, etc.

The bubble room was an experiment Room for them ... there were nonstop giggles while problem solving.

The list goes on and on but no visit to The Magic House would be complete without a hair raising experience at the magic ball (Van De Graaff Generator).

I said that we would only be there for an hour or two .. I had to ask the girls after 4 hours if they were ready to leave. We had to do one more run through to make sure we had done everything :-).

Fun, but overpriced.

By KcG1292HU |

We were told to come here by some friends of ours, but it really wasn't worth the money. We came with our one year old and four year old. It seemed a little outrageous to pay $11 for a one year old that couldn't do 90% of the things in the house. We arrived early, hoping to avoid a mad rush of kids. It was fine for about an hour. Then all the field trip children arrived and the "Magic House" quickly became a "Mad House". We are used to kids running around, making a mess, making noise, etc. But this was too much. Eventually, everything is so packed that there is not much to do. Everything just becomes chaos.

Amazing Children's Museum

By WeLovePrinting |

We came here to view the great American Eclipse of 2017. It was very busy but it kept our 18 month old toddler entertained. She loved the bubble room. So much to do and explore. We were there for a good 5 hours and we still didn't feel like we saw everything. We will definitely come back again. Highly recommend for families.

Magic House(TMH) - great for kids and adults

By mjashaw |

The family meets in St. Louis ance a year for an extended week end. Last year visited TMH for the first time, and loved it. The second visit was even better, 'cause we knew our way around. It doesn't matter the age of the children in your life, it doesn/t matter how old you are .... all will love TMH! Multiple rooms in a couple structures, elevator access to all areas, but quite a bit of walking around ... usually following a super enthusiastic kid, What Fun! It's really poolular so pretty crowded \, on week ends (any way). I spoke with several of the MANY guests with "Member" entrance stickers. Theie enthusisam, and the great proportion of Members vs. Visitors also speaks to the quality of excerience people have there. It's my #1 spot to visit with our granddaughter. It's an all day event, for us. Parking can be a chalenge after they've been open a couple hours.

Broken

By Chris J |

Unfortunately after being at the magic house for about three minutes. The window to the dinosaur train fell in and landed on my son's face. Definitely going to have a black eye and brushed cheekbone.

Lovely day with the kids

By ustravelermom |

We all played here, kids and adults included! What a lovely place. What a fun memory. There were so many museums to choose from in our limited time passing through St. Louis, we chose this one and so glad we did. We had construction adventures, storybook play, courtroom appearances, Presidential roleplaying, climbed a beanstalk and played with boats on the outdoor water area!

Rainy day fun!

By sbspradling |

We recently visited the Magic House with 5 children (ages 4-12). They all had a wonderful time. There was a nice mix of activities and exhibits geared for both older and younger children. My 12 yo daughter was afraid she would be bored, but she loved it. We stayed 4 hours and did not see everything the museum offered.

Absolutely amazing children's museum

By meowsers |

We took our 3.5 year old daughter here and she had such a blast! This place is huge and we spent the entire day there. Her favorite area was painting the ice at the St. Louis Blues hockey section. Other areas she particularly enjoyed were the kids town (grocery store, pizza parlor, car repair, ice cream cart), the building/construction area, magnets and on and on. We also ate lunch there. The food was good, healthy and quick. It was also a decent price. There is something to see everywhere you turn! It was like 6 solid hours of uninhibited play. My daughter also liked the bathroom had everything just her size, from a child size toilet, to a low sink to a soap dispenser she could reach on her own and that the cleansers used didn't "stink" but smelled like vanilla. Everything was very clean. There were lots of people working to ensure safety and orderly exhibits. There's more here than you can do in a day. A true gem!

Kids Love It!

By kelseyfunk2 |

I hadn't been to the magic house in years and was pleasantly surprised to see all the new displays and interactive activities for the kids.

Wish every state has this type of entertainment for kids

By evelynamahar |

My grandkids loved the place, really makes the kids think,be it math, science or just plain tinkering with toys or doing arts and crafts.
Adults didn’t want to leave the place either. So much to see and do.
It’s more than worth the entrance fee for what you get out of exploring the place.
Definitely would come back here again.

Cool place

This place was very fun for the kids. There were tons of people. I recommend a 1:1 ratio if you want to be able to keep an eye on your kids. The kids definitely want to go back.

Wonderful for 1 yo

We took my 1 year old niece here and we loved it. Niece had been pretty fussy with us all day before our visit, but came alive at magic house with everything to see, do, climb on, and chew on. Made our whole vacation .

Fun Fun Fun

By Aryn Z |

This place was so much fun! My 5 and 2 year old grandsons enjoyed each and every inch of it. Reasonably priced. A perfect way to spend the day!

The Mucus House - be careful

By JilKey |

Fantastic hands-on 'science' center for kids, but the place is crawling with microbes and viruses. My son gets cold-flu after every visit. Enjoy, but wash hands/face after your child touches anything in the building. Expensive way to get your child exposed to every infectious agent in St. Louis.

For Young children

By redheaddragon |

Came on Sun of Memorial Day weekend with a 2.5 year old and 1 year old and stayed from 10 am - 4 pm. This place is huge and there was lots to do. Our 2.5 yr old was busy the entire time. However, I feel like most activities are best for 3-7 year olds.

Pros:
Many different areas and variety of activities, both inside and outside
Disinfecting wipes provided in multiple places

Cons:
Cafe could use more food options
No high chairs?!
Needs longer hours on Sun
Covid safety not great - too many people and lots of closed/small areas
Baby area is tiny and could be expanded

Fun day with young kida

By AK912 |

We visited the Magic House after visiting the City Museum on the same day. Although for my children (ages 3 & 6) it was a toss up which museum they preferred, I preferred the Magic House for this age group (probably would be best for ages 8-9 and under). The museum is huge with many different interactive areas. We spent a ton of time in the Children’s Village area, so we didn’t make it through the whole museum. We will definitely visit again, though. The rooms did feel crowded in some areas, but I attributed it to the fact that we visited on a Saturday during winter when other outdoor activities weren’t available. I’d suggest going on a weekday, or arriving early or late for lowest crowds. There’s definitely enough here to keep children occupied for the entire day.

full of hands-on activities

By mrsdrj |

We are always on the look out for activities in St. Louis to break up our annual road trip, and we've enjoyed the Magic House twice now. We are traveling with a five-year-old, so I love this place! Everything is hands-on, educational, and meant to be played with. We only intended to stop for a couple of hours, but were there for 4.5, and still didn't do everything! It is a wonderful place for kids to be able to climb, crawl, and play.

Fantastic Children's Musuem!

By Adam B |

My family love visiting children's museums in any town we visit. My wife has visited The Magic House since she was a kid, and this was the first Children's museum we brought our son to when he was an infant. It really has it all, STEM labs, art area, sports and fitness, history museum, small town village, and just about everything you can think of. If you are visiting St. Louis with kids 1-12, I strongly suggest a trip to the Magic House.

kids of all ages

By Rhonda P |

I have been here twice and both times it was wonderful, the staff were very friendly and the kids only cried when it was time to leave. I would defin. advise taking your kids here. it was both educational and fun for all of us.

Amazing! Could spend all day!

By freiburg97 |

The website doesn’t do it justice. I wasn’t excited to come here with my kiddos (5 and 9). But, wow! We spent about 4 hours here and could have spent more. There is something for all ages. Kids especially loved the bubble room, make believe area (hospital, vet, pizza party) and the arts and crafts area. We didn’t even make it through the whole museum. You are able to leave and come back and if I were to go again, I would get there early, head up the street for lunch and come back! You could probably spend the entire day just in the arts and crafts area! Highly recommend!

Poorly behaved children

This place is chaos. There are children running around like wild animals with no supervision. I will not be taking my kids back here.

Kid time

By Aswathi Warrier |

1. The Magic House St Louis Children’s Museum: It is overpriced for tourists (14 dollars per ticket), for the St Louis residents there is a 3 dollar after 3 pm offer. So definitely a great activity for the locals with kids! My 4 year old did find some stuff to do. Lot of interactive areas for children essentially, and there is also a small area for babies under 2 y. There are three levels, enjoyed the lower level the most. Found the construction area, where kids can use shovels, dump truck and excavator etc, and do some steps of building a house, pretty cool; in fact have not seen this in other children’s museums we have been to. There is a science lab and also an area where you can draw and make it come out of a 3 D printer.
He also seemed to enjoy the super service center, wearing a mechanic’s cap and fixing the wheel of a car. There are some slides here and there that he enjoyed doing. Bubble section really can do with more options and maintenance.
Apparently they also hold cultural events by groups from across the world.. for instance around Nov there is some Indian cultural events for Diwali (festival of lights). Overall an average experience for that price.

My Grandson Loves This Place

By Gwen D |

My daughter enjoys taking my grandson here so much that we bought them an annual membership for Christmas. We had so much fun watching our one-year-old grandson enjoy the toddler play area and the climbing areas. I especially loved the India exhibit. We have a wonderful time playing in the sand and the water outside when we were through inside. Great fun for grandmas too!

Great place for kids of all ages

I took my youngest grandaughter here for a day trip for just the two of us. She was only 4 years old and had a great time. Myself, I found it interesting but from a childs point of view it must be amazing.

Amazing- we spent 6.5 hours here and didn’t see everything. My 4 year old loved it and they even had a small play area for the baby!

Best kids museum

One of the coolest places for kids. Our kids didn’t want to leave. Well worth the cost of admission. We are thinking about extending our vacation to go back!!

BEST Family Fun!

We went on a short vacation with our adult kids and grandkids (ages 2.5, 1, and 7 months) and this was the BEST part of our trip. The littles LOVED every bit of it. It was very hands on and was so well done. If we lived in St. Louis, we would definitely buy a membership.

Dependably awesome!

The MAGIC HOUSE hosted a wonderful Fairy Tale Tea a couple of weeks ago that was a true delight to princes and princesses of all ages. Decor was incredible!

Great place to spend the afternoon with grandkids.

Even though there is construction going on all the areas are open. We arrived after 1:00 pm in order for most of the school field trips were gone. Great place to interact with your children or play by themselves. Had a super afternoon.

Huge museum full of fun!

My kids loved coming here. Make sure you arrive first thing in the morning because it gets very busy! Every room was full of engaging activities. I would say this museum caters best to age 3 to 10.
