Great circular trail!

By Mike Rizzitiello |

Went here to hike on the circular path around the park that is in the AllTrails app. Its a well maintained park. It feels like you are in nature, while surrounded by the City of Beaverton. Would highly recommend!

Lovely walk

By tiredandtravelled |

They have done a remarkable job with making this 600? acres ready to share with the public. This time of year there are lots of waterfowl, ducks and geese. And the path is totally covered with trees so even if it rains you can walk there. They have a fascinating array of events like bees and brew. Where you can learn about Mason Bees and have a glass of beer. They also have night events to see owls and coyotes. So great for adults and children. Good interpretive center and gift and book shop. Great bathrooms and parking.

Get place to enjoy the woods and a walk

By VICTeri97204 |

Nice outdoor experience to share with others. I love the paths through the woods. You never know what critter you might meet. I enjoyed seeing a doe and fawn at the edge of the woods. What a "Nature" surprise as it is so close to the city. This is a great place on a warm day to cool off. Great information center too.

great summer walk

By Roam555710 |

a walk there is 10 to 15 degrees cooler and plenty of birds and small animals to look at. going with a friend or family members makes a long walk go fast

Easy, Relaxing, Family Friendly

By LaurenandEmily |

Walking trails surrounded by mature trees in the heart of Beaverton. Easy to get to via Car or the Max line. There is free parking, as well as a small learning center, bathrooms, and water fountain. The trails are easily walkable and strollers would do okay. The paths are clearly marked and there are a couple of benches you can sit at along the paths. We have always felt safe here, even when we come solo.

The real thing: nature

By Erica K |

The best thing about this park is that it's mostly just nature. The trails are clearly marked and go through a lot of terrain, including boardwalks through wetlands, and paved and unpaved trail through woods. I've been there with school field trips for preschoolers, second graders and sixth graders, but most times it's pretty quiet and peaceful. Great for walking or biking. One caveat: it's naturally pretty dark in there even on sunny days because of the maturity of the trees.

Great Nature Walking Area

By LisaT503 |

This is a nice neighborhood park, easy to access, with walking trails. You can combine loops and get in as many miles as you need. There is ample parking, restrooms, and a small children's play area.

A place of peaceful walking

By Sandi B |

This is a very quiet, cool place to walk, and you may be treated by the visit of deer if you are lucky. Many kids visit this park in the summer to explore the natural surprises that await them on the trails. During the winter months, the rain and run off make for a wet environment, so watch your steps if walking at this time.

always a nice walk through

By mynameisD |

love to walk through here and see the nature, good for bird watching as well, many deer live in here as well.

Great walks!

By kateeT63 |

This park has clean, easy to walk paths among great trees and plants. It is safe as well. It is close to homes and businesses, but you feel like you are out in the country.

Birding

By cathy m |

Stumbled on this small park by accident. We walked along a nice paved path looking for birds and found quite a few. Lots of large trees provide shade most of the way. It's free to enter with several parking spaces. There are benches along the paths.

Tualatin Rec trails

By Mischristina |

Miles of trails to get lost in. Scenic views bridges over water ways, nutria and beaver playing in the creek beds. An Owl perched in the canopy above watching over us. Lots of birds fluttering about calling each other in the branches. I notice one thing no dogs on the trail. Stay on the path as you might disturb a natural habitat, ecosystem of the wildlife there.

wonderful place for nature walks

By 1Teapot |

I love wandering in this park. The trails are well marked, and it's quiet and beautiful. I get lost in thought here regularly. It's one of the parks that doesn't allow dogs, however, which is the only down side for those of us with fur babies. Be careful in the winter as some of the planked walkways can get really slippery!

Easy walking among beautiful trees.

By Sher i |

Great walk among the trees. Easy walking on nicely maintained trails. There's a nice meeting room to rent just outside the entrance to the park.

Great walking place!

By sexybaby7399 |

There are lots of walking paths through a beautiful wooded environment and benches to stop and rest on. The paths cross watered areas and feature lily pads and wide flat wooden walkways over the water. A perfect place for a picnic or bike ride also! A must see and repeat visit special place in this area which we are happy to have discovered and will visit often! Highly recommended!

Great Little Nature Park!

By Nowzar A |

Tucked in between Beaverton's busy roads and general suburban life is this little gem of a park. It has a paved path that goes through the whole park in addition to a lot of shorter dirt/gravel trails. It's a great place to get away from all the noises of civilization and go for a run or an easy walk/hike. This is also a great place to take young children so they can explore its many different plants, birds or bugs. It's actually quite a cool place for the old "kids" as well! Beware that you can't take your beloved dog or other pet as this is a protected wildlife preserve.

Very nice...

By Liz Dennis |

This is a great time of year in the park. We did see a pilated woodpecker and its 3 babies, very exciting.

Great place to walk

By Jennc04 |

It's amazing how when you enter you don't even know you are in the middle of the "city" or maybe better word suburbs. Multiple trails to choose from. Easy walk. Nothing strenuous.

Very nice and relaxing

By Mark G |

This is a very nice place for a walk in nature. I would recommend it for all ages as it's flag and shaded.

Good for small children to safely wander the maze of trails. Dogs no longer allowed.

By MrCustoms |

This is a nice park where you can wander a maze of pathways through a green forest. All the paths are circular so there is no concern about getting lost. It's a good place to bring young children and let them choose the path! Because, regardless of which path you choose you will always circle back around to the parking lot.

Unfortunately (for me) the park no longer allows dogs because they designated it a nature preserve. I used to enjoy walking my dog here many years ago. There are still some bike paths outside the park that are good for walking your dog, but stay off the surrounding Nike properties (even the Nike parking lots). There is a good chance they dispatch a security guard to you if they see you walking a dog across the Nike properties.

Peaceful

By cbogansr |

This is my favorite place to relax and decompress. The trails are easy and the birds send me over the top. This is an Inner city park that makes you feel you are not.

Great, all weather park

By Janet_Hillsboro |

I visit this park a lot. It is a great place to walk even in questionable weather, the trails are flat and well maintained. I have seen a variety of wildlife, owls, bald eagles, deer, Douglas Squirrel and of course many song birds. You can vary how you loop around, so your walk can be 1 mile or 4. The best feature is you can reach this park easily from anywhere in the Portland area, the Max train has a stop here! One caution though, dogs are not allowed.

Tranquil Trails

By Lindsay L |

This place is perfect for a long walk to clear your head. Paved paths are surrounded by tall, green trees and overall the setting is quiet and tranquil. While this place is also fun for families with kids because there are always squirrels, birds or bugs to see, many like to go here for a walk or jog. This place is one of those "hidden gems" in my opinion.

Hiking

By Stella J |

This place is beautiful! I like to hike at Tualatin Nature Park because it’s mostly flat, and it’s not too hard on my plantar fasciitis. It’s generally clean including the toilets. I believe they have classes there too, including summer camps.

Great trails and unfriendly, aloof people

By Gunter Singer |

It is a nice place to get away during the day. Downside would be that most people one meets there are rather unfriendly and aloof which affects the atmosphere.

Oasis In the Suburbs

By SassyGirlJenna729 |

I am venturing out into the West-side of Portland more and figured I would go check out Tualitin Hills Nature Park. Absolutely gorgeous. You have the option of taking a paved trail, or you can go off-road on some of the less-traveled routes. The forest is majestic. I ventured over to the pond area and was rewarded with an unobstructed view of a Great Blue Heron fishing in the pond. And then he took flight and was off. I felt safe traveling solo, there were always people within shouting range if need be. And I felt I could walk for miles, though I was never really that far from the Interpretive center. A great, easy urban hike. I say go.

Forest in the city

By Philentheos |

I love walking the trails here. On a hot summer day the paths are shady and cool. And you never know you who might run into.....I've met a beaver, nutria, deer, newts, pretty snakes, woodpeckers, owls, hummingbirds and many other residents of the park. The people in the visitor center are friendly and knowledgeable. And there's something new every season. A great place for a peaceful break from city noise and stress.

A favorite place for a forest walk

By WonderingGrandparent |

The Nature Park is a peaceful retreat with a variety of habitats from Oaks, Cedars, and Firs to ponds and wetlands. There is a with a dense understory of native species including Trilliums and other wildflowers. This is a gem in the midst of a busy suburban area. Most of the trails are accessible all year and the main trail is paved so it is stroller, bike and wheelchair accessible.

Wonderful and Relaxing

By Realitywoman |

My daily go-to trail. For the most part, people on bikes are courtesy. The trails are well maintained. The only disappointing issue is dogs are allowed and fully understood. If people would be responsible dog owners more places would open up to animals. However, the vegetation is so special for educational and enjoyment this why animals are not allowed. There is a trail close by for dogs; however, some dog owners do not pick up Fido's stuff even on the sidewalks. The THPRD even provides doggie-do bags! However, I think some of the bicyclist should be a little more courtesy especially to the elderly-this doesn't apply to all of bicyclist. And parents should make sure their kids obey the signs. A place for all to truly enjoy if we ALL following the policies/rules. A place to visit come rain or shine-so many different things to see.

Whodathink it: winding network of trails in the middle of the city!

By Jerry F |

Paved & unpaved trails.
And the long tunnel of vine maples can be simply stunning.
Leave your doggies at home!

You can count on Tualatin Hills and all their trails

By Judith A |

Take a brief walk during your day into nature. Centrally located, easily walked, enjoy a brief hiatus from your busy day by walking the Nature Park trail. Warning: No dogs allowed.

Nice walk in the park

By Kimberly B |

Went on a walk here with my mom. We had a great time. Nice big area and comfortable to walk. The walkways were paved. So easy for walking. There was even a. Area that you can sit and bring a book and relax infront a pond area.

Good place to recharge

By jofspa |

Busy and quiet all in one. Good mix of joggers and walkers, can take an hour to circle leisurely. You might see wildlife if you walk quiet.

Great quite place near the city

By sunaloha |

This is a wonderful place to go on an easy, cool, quiet hike not far from the hustle and bustle of Beaverton, There is plenty of parking at the entrance and several trails you can take through the park. You will usually see some type of interesting thing on your walk. I have seen deer, owls, turtles, and of course, ducks and geese. Trails are almost all pretty flat and just a few spots where they get muddy as we have had rain.

Nature walk in the city.

By D D |

Trails and privacy and peace await you . Especially nice on a hot day as it is mostly shaded. Go at your own pace and enjoy the scenery.

A walk with nature in the city.

By PDXHomebrewer |

This is a great place to bring little kids or anyone for that matter to get away from the city for a nice nature walk without having to drive outside of the city.

Great walk, beautiful grounds, but bring your boots!

By KenBobPDX |

We visited on one of the only dry days in March. The walks are beautiful but a bit eerie with all the moss hanging on the trees.

If you visit in the month of March, be sure to bring your boots and a light jacket. It gets a bit cool on the trails and they can be a bit muddy. There is a paved walkway, but most of the trails are gravel and subject to becoming quite muddy during the wet season.

The nature center is open on the weekends and have folks there to answer questions about the local flora and fauna.

Beautiful Park

By Liz B |

We rented a room in this park for a Celebration of Life. The staff was outstanding. The room was gorgeous, and equipped with everything we needed.

Easy forest hike, close to home

By Lacey C |

When you need a hike, but can't travel far or are short on time, the Nature Park is the perfect solution. The park is heavily forested (it stays cool even when it's hot out) and is home to a variety of plant-life as well as some wildlife. Sightings of chipmunks, squirrels, garter snakes, frogs, newts, and ducks are common. There are many inter-connecting unpaved trails stemming from the main, paved trail so the amount of time it would take to hike the park can vary greatly. I've been taking my 1 year old daughter here almost weekly since she was just a couple months old and have no trouble spending an hour or more on the trails. The paved trail is great for strollers and now that my baby is walking, we're able to explore more of the park. I highly recommend this park to parents of young kids as well as to anyone who needs a little forest time close to home.

Get there early and bring mosquito spray.

By Jowhite2222 |

Parking lot is limited so get there early. Since most of the path is in the shade, the mosquitoes are out most of the day. There are two paved pathways, but they don't connect. There are many dirt pathways that will connect the 2 paved paths, but are not passable with a stroller.

There are many animals there...frogs, birds, hawks, & snakes to mention a few. A great place to keep cool! Just bring insect spray.

Nice network of walking trails in the area

By Gerard J |

My wife and I like to come to the Nature Park and walk when we are feeling down. A little piece of quiet just a few blocks away makes for a quick pick-me-up, and we always leave feeling better than before.

Great forest area in rural neighborhood.

By June W |

We regularly stop by this park to get exercise and see nature. We have spotted deer, rabbits, squirrels and many birds. We also enjoy the variety of vegetation and mushrooms. The staff is informative. We often pass groups of children on tours given by the staff.

Tualatin Hills Nature Park

By R3652FPjohnm |

Wonderful paths. Beautifully natural landscape. Very clean and well-maintained. Very kid-friendly and handicapped accessible.

Nature walk

By William M |

Very nice nature walk in suburban setting. Lots of choices for length of walk and very easy with little elevation change. Nature center very nice also and friendly staff.

Great trails...NO dogs YAY!!

By DaMacAttack |

In a city that is over populated with dogs...I'm SO thankful to find a peaceful place that doesn't allow pets!! It's wonderful to be able to enjoy the outdoors & not have to worry about being cornered by someone else's pet while you are out for a walk! This is a beautiful, well cared for park with many trails to walk or bike on. The scenery is amazing! Although, it's right in the middle of the city, you feel like you're out in the wilderness with all the trees. A great find!

A respite, patch of nature and a satisfying slice of silence

By David S |

I regular respite and break from a hectic unnatural day, this is a place to slow down, stop — and breathe again. I mean, not just in but out too. Be natural — is there really any other way?

WOW!

By dreamofengland |

This place is very unexpected.....in the middle of busy Beaverton, is this oasis. Walking into the park you so find yourself in a beautiful wooded area and the noise of the streets disappear. The paths are not very well marked, you really need to watch for signs, if you care about staying on one path that is, the park is not so large that you can get terribly lost. some paths are paved some are not. The walking is easy and flat....very important to know.

Quick day trip

By jillr3148 |

Beautiful, peaceful walk. Makes an easy walk for all ages. Makes a nice day trip. Pack a picnic lunch. Although we opted for the food truck rodeo downtown!

Get out of the City, within the City

By mynameisD |

This is a lovely place to walk within the city limits, you feel like you are completely out of the city. Popular for runners as well and families. Great place for bird watchers. Saw a red-breasted sapsucker and a falcon. Didn't want to see the gardener snakes ! Came across two within 30 feet of each other on the pathway during July outing.

There are many trails and it can be easy to lose your way, pick up a map at the front entrance and restroom area.

Walking to get in shape

By Chrystalle H |

A wonderful park with trails for all levels. The trees are amazing and the paths easy to find and walk on.

A good park and nature center

By DavidROregon |

This is probably the largest park in THPRD. It has nice paved trails which is great for strollers and those who use walkers or wheelchairs. It has restrooms and nature center near parking lot.

Great place

By skierjenn |

We love going for walks here. So many options and directions, lots of paved paths but also some unpaved paths. Nature center is also fun.

A great place to get away

By Udoggie |

In the middle of the city, but once you're there you don't realize that.

A great place to get away for a while, and actually be in nature.

Just be warned, no dogs allowed. (and at least on their signs and website, no exceptions for service animals either...)

The Newt Festival is the Best

By Todd B |

Pleasant park to wander through, although the trails can be quite muddy during winter. Watch for the "Newt Festival" that occurs in late fall. Great for kids to learn about the natural world right at their feet.

Quaint trails for shot walks

By kdnopera |

There are 2 trails to choose from on this little walk. You literally feel like you are in this ginormous forest once you get past the information center. It envelops you in all of it's smells, sounds, and greenery. If you are needing to take a short walk to contemplate anything or just get some fresh air, I highly recommend this nature park.

By 줄리 이 |

I did not know this place before my dad was coming.
He searched this place to take a walk.
We had great time and felt more fresh than ever.
It's safe place.

Wonderful park!

By Johnsons |

Great place to go for a nice walk in the woods but right in the city. Beautiful nature park! We saw lots of critters and really enjoyed the quiet.

Beautiful and secluded in the middle of Beaverton

By Britt P |

Always clean, not too busy, lots of well maintained trails for running or walking. You might even run into wildlife, I've seen owl and a small deer

Very nice park

By MHegazy08 |

This is an excellent park for not hardcore hikers. We enjoyed walking and enjoying the nature. You don't have to drive far if you live in Portland or Beaverton

Looks like an a beautiful place

By Greg D |

I started to enjoy the park but I was interrupted by rain so did not get too far but what I did see was very nice!

Nature at your fingertips

By massoud s |

A very nice place to visit. It will take you away from the busy urban life to a nicely built nature park. You will enjoy it.

nice walk

By hannah4266 |

It was a nice walk, path was clear. Didnt take very long to complete it. Coming from the desert I thought it was really pretty with all the trees and greenery.

Anyone Can Enjoy Outdoors

By SeniorTravelerTF |

Level hard packed or paved trails that are appropriate for any age or ability. Also including non paved paths as well for more exploration and nature viewpoints. Facilitates, restrooms, fountains, are all open. Summer Nature Camps are provided for youth. Many trails and nature exhibits/ museums are closed currently for water main work, but there is a posted completion date. Easy to find and plenty of parking spots available. All free.

Serene

By Teri H |

Great trails, several loops of different lengths for variety. Lake side trails with views of Herons, many different ducks, hawks, and others. Wonderful green island in a busy suburb west of Portland. Community building available for functions (we attended a friend's wedding there; the rear is a wall of windows that open to the forest, with an outdoor patio area), and abundant parking. The length of the visit depends on how much you want to see. An hour minimum, up to several hours if you birdwatch or just stroll. Rest rooms, trail map and Information boards at trailhead. Watch for bicyclists and runners, wear footwear that can get muddy on the trails, bring binoculars, but mostly enjoy the soaring greenery and peacefulness.

Great place to hike and explore!

By Cathy P |

Beautiful smallish park. Not really good for handicapped, nor if you want to eat. We did not see places to eat, where we walked...

A nice strool in the park

By skyloo442 |

For the west side of the Portland Metro area this is a great place to just have a little walk and unwind.

Hide away

By April |

Great place for short walks with lots of shade. Paths are kept up well and you feel safe. Good seating area for meditation.

Best Place in Beaverton!

By Mary C |

This is truly one of the best places in Beaverton. You can walk for an hour without duplicating your path. No matter how many cars are in the parking lot, it always feels deserted. In a good way, though! You will pass through many different biomes -- pond, cedar, hardwood, wetland, etc. I wish the bike path didn't go through here, but you can't have everything. It's beautiful and after an hour strolling through this park you will feel calm and refreshed. A must if you are visiting!

Beautiful Woods, Wildlife and Walking Trails

By Rose G |

A combination of asphalt, woodchip and plank trails make this Nature Park both pleasant and accesible. Birds, furry critters, different natural habitats, wilflowers and little friends from the amphibian world make every walk a fun adventure. A great sanctuary in the middle of Beaverton. Great for photography and quiet walks. Well worth a visit. Plenty of parking and a nature center to help you identify plants, trees and wildlife.

What a great park

By Clare P |

Spent a wonderful morning, about 2.5 hours, walking as much of this park as possible, just kept going left at every juncture. On a day that promised to reach into the nineties, my goal was more relaxation than exercise, so I took the time to read every interpretive plaque and to stop frequently and observe the area around me. Birds, bunnies, squirrels, slugs (a gorgeous 6-inch banana), ducks, and more - I could hear bullfrogs but not see them - and if I am not mistaken, evidence of coyote on the trail. If I lived here, this park would be a frequent destination, especially on the crazy hot days.

TPHRD Nature Preserve

By oregonfenix |

I love this park, so many ways to do the trails, lots of wildlife, never crowded. Mostly natural paths but quit a bit of paved paths as well.

Great hiking for young families and others!

By 5nn |

The trails in the park are in the trees, so perfect for these warm summer days. Restrooms are near the parking lot, and the visitor center is open on weekends! You can view exhibits of wildlife and plants in the area. And, choose a short or long hike.

Great walking path

By jaelise |

We have enjoyed the walking paths at this nature center for a long time. Cool, shady, and you can walk at your own pace and as long/far as you want. Many benches along the way.

Great place to take a casual walk.

By diana802015 |

This is a very nice place to take a leisurely walk. The paths are mostly paved and flat. Unfortunately, you can not take your dogs as they would disrupt the wildlife.

Another awesome day walk

By 338jacquelynk |

One of the many great offerings in the Portland Oregon area. Peaceful and educational. What an opportunity to see wetlands, forests and streams that are habitat to insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. It has about 5 miles of different trails that make for a great hike/walk. It is a wildlife preserve so you can not bring any type of pets. They do have a visitors center where you can check out exhibits, learn about events, and get questions answered. Not all the paths are paved so using a stroller might be a challenge

Relaxing and quiet

By Dave B |

Our first time here and weather was perfect. There's nice and quiet trails that winds through this location nestled in the city. Paths are half paved and half rocked. Paths were wide and easy to walk. There's a nice gift center.

Very peaceful and full of wildlife.

By Dora S |

As my granddaughter goes to preschool here in the spring , we took a great trail and she was able to identify plants, wildlife and the main center was very informative. The trails are mostly easy for anyone to travel.

Nice park with some decent photography opportunities.

By KweqSmanit |

A nice enough park with some relaxing areas to rest and read a book or just take a nap.

There are some good photo taking opportunities here (crazy squirrels, ducks, egret, heron, turtles etc.)

There is also a little exhibit area there.

Worth an hour or two getaway if you are in Portland and want a break from the city.

Great Place for a Lunchtime Walk

By Tawnie B |

This is a great place to go for a walk anytime. Walkers and runners on the paths. Paths are clean and clear of tree leaves and branches. Its a great place for families and kids to nature.

A must urban get away place.

By CPG3 |

Ninety percent or more of the trails are paved making walking easy, and is almost completely wheel chair accessible. Most of the trails are shaded, so it is a nice respite at all times including warmer days.

Nice little walk in the park

By CoupleOfNuts2 |

We spent a morning hiking the trails here, and enjoyed reading the signs and learning about the climate/conservation efforts of the Portland area. Folks like this for jogging, as we had several runners pass us along the way (but it was otherwise fairly uncrowded on a Sunday morning). Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing walk.

Are kids electric scooters allowed?

By R N |

Was just curious about electric kick style scooters are allowed in the park. As also are adult electric kick scooters allowed.

Peaceful hiking

By Mary A |

There are miles of hiking trails here to be explored and mostly in the shade so it would be great for a hot summer day. For people who play Pokemon Go, there are several poke stops, gyms and pokemon to catch!

beautiful park

By Yvonne W |

Informative park guides, lovely party or meeting room. Location ideal in Beaverton & nice for any age group.

Oasis near town

By Jarno M |

There is a wonderful park for walking and taking in nature just near beaverton. There are several miles of trails through several types of biomes including a pond, swamp, and several types of forests. The park is also interconnected with the continuing to grow powerline trail system which goes north and south from the park. They have adequate parking, an interpretative center, public flush toilets and even a couple of picnic tables if you want to bring your lunch. It's a great place to spend an hour or two and take in all that NW Oregon nature has to offer so close to town.

Enjoyment and Exercise

By Susan O |

This is one of the best places in Beaverton to go for a nature walk with the family, a quiet moment alone or a healthful trail run. If one place can have it all, this would be it. There is a well paved path through the woods and wetlands that is nearly flat and accessible for young and old. It is a wonderful place to take the children to see firsthand a variety of local plant, animal and insect life. There are benches placed periodically if one in your group needs a rest or just to sit for a moment of quiet contemplation.

If you wish something more vigorous, dirt trails diverge from the paved trail that provide even more opportunities to enjoy the natural habitat. These dirt trails are not suitable for strollers or wheel chairs so reasonable mobility is required. Joggers make frequent use of these for cross country type runs and walkers can wander peacefully for extended distances. By exploring the entire maze it is possible to walk or job for several miles without backtracking.

This location also has an information center that is staffed during business hours. Books are available for sale and the staff is a font of information for questions about the wildlife, park district and facility. Meeting rooms are available here and programs are held regularly for pre-school and older children.

There is a reasonable amount of parking available but expect to find is nearly full on weekends and lunch hours.

An Oasis in the City

By Randi |

Serenity ... We went on a family walk in the late Spring and were surprised to see deer in the middle of town. They didn't seem

Beautiful, easy walk

By Duckydi |

This is an easy walk through a beautiful forest amongst a neighborhood. It is very convenient to Hillsboro and Beaverton.

Nice in town walk.

By LizzyinOR |

Had some time to kill and looked up parks in the area. This is a great little park with a paved nature trails for those muddy, light showers type of day. The woods are beautiful and they have a nature center as well. I would recommend this Park.

Great place to walk and enjoy nature

By Dan D |

There are 5 miles of trails through this park; all loop around to it's easy to enjoy a hike of any length. 1.5 miles are paved. The rest can sometimes be muddy, but they've done a good job of putting stones on the trails to cut down the mud.
My wife and I have seen deer, beavers, nutria, herons, owls, woodpeckers, and, of course, the more common ducks, squirrels and bunnies. We enjoy walking through the lush forest at different times of the years. And it's only minutes from our home in Aloha. It's a wildlife preserve, so no dogs allowed, which is a plus for us, but I realize not all people think that.

Peaceful

By Food Trekker - Sam Bass |

It's a really nice park to run in. Great sounds of nature. The tress are gorgeous and people are nice on the paths. Great place to take a walk.

Love this beautiful nature Park!

By oregonfenix |

I walked through this nature Park for several years before I realized there's a "back country". If I walk all the trails I can get in five miles, more often than not passing just a few people during a weekday hike. It's a beautiful preserve, lots of parking . . . No dogs allowed though.

Great place to get out and stretch and feel safe.

By mookyhikers |

Great place to enjoy nature in the big city. You can almost forget where you are. Be sure to visit when you are nearby.

Good walk through the woods.

By Adam A |

One of my favorite things to do is to walk through the woods of the state, you know the green areas that aren't being needlessly developed into more apartment complexes and homes that will sit empty, or more business centers that, again, will sit empty. The nature parks in the area are nice, although I wish they were a bit longer. This is a good area to walk and view some nature.

Love the trails.

By Joy O |

Love the paved paths in winter. Love the trails off the pavement in the summer out of the blazing sun.

A beautiful zen walk through an enchanted forest

By U8923CWlisah |

LOVE this place! So beautiful and peaceful especially during the weekdays. Great place for a run or a walk, do yourself a favor and head off the asphalt path and take the dirt trails through the woods. You will not regret it, beautiful moss everywhere and stunning trees. The dirt trails are less crowded too. No dogs allowed at this park so leave the pups home. Noble Woods in Hillsboro is dog friendly and our dogs love it there. This is one of our favorite spots since moving to Oregon.

Right in the suburbs, you can get back to nature. Excellent birding in spring. Restrooms and visitors center. About 4 miles of trails. Grab a map at the entrance.

Beautiful in Beaverton

By BrewNman |

I’ve been to the nature park for several occasions and it never disappoints. I took my kids there when they were little. We did some “mud walking” in the spring when it was wet and nature visiting in the summer.
I’ve gone for runs through the park and for some quiet meditation walks throughout the year. The forest canopy will keep you cool in the summer and dry when it rains.

There’s plenty of parking and it’s rarely crowded. Take the kids for a fun walk of discovery or just enjoy the peacefulness. Don’t mind the runners, they’re curious and will not disturb you or your kids.

Garden of Eden Experience

By RvnLinda |

This community-supported park is amazing! It is LARGE, and the trails are well-maintained. I use a scooter for mobility, and the hard-pack dirt and boardwalks were perfect for me. It was 100° when we visited, but the shady walk was perfect temperature. I would not have changed it by even 1°. It is multiple-use park, with runners, walkers, and bird-watchers. We will definitely return.

Great walking trails

By David M |

Great trails, many are handicap accessable. Very flat, but very quiet. Bikes are supposed to yeild to walkers (and do, for the most part). The good news/bad news is no pets. It has been my experience that most people in this area are pet responsible, so not really sure why they are excluded from this park. Signage for this park is very good, so you can walk for a few minutes, or lots of time, depending on your desire. Added bonus, restrooms are available, and most of the time, pretty clean!

Good for short get away

By James G |

Nice well maintained trails. You can lose yourself in this urban nature park. Great for young children and adults as well.

Just walking around

By JulieMac M |

My husband & I are staying with a relative whose backyard backs to the park. We walked around with our dog & it is very pleasant and well kept.

Great nature trails

By MontyAndJune |

Easy walking down level paved paths, unpaved paths too. Saw deer, woodpeckers, and other wildlife. Tall trees, ferns, mushrooms. A quiet place in an otherwise urban setting. Close to downtown Beaverton.

Wonderful park for any activity

By sunaloha |

This park has it all, swimming pool, basketball courts, (indoor and outdoor), tennis courts, soccer fields, softball fields, skateboard park, and lots of walking trails.

Dangerous bikers warning

By Bananaljr |

I've gone on several early morning walks at the nature park as it's right down the street from my house. Seen tons of wildlife, even baby deer, it's a wonderful place early. Unfortunately every time I've tried to take my kids in the middle of the day we're always chased to the side of the paths by bicyclists. Last time I took my four year old daughter she was almost ran over. I wish they would make it a walking/ jogging pedestrian path only. There's lots of dangerous corners where it's not possible for cyclists to see pedestrians, and the majority of
Them have headphones in. I won't be taking my small children back.

lovely walking trails, lots of options

By LaurettaYoung |

The bird watching here is delightful. Many species of birds and it's quiet enough to hear the bird songs. Going here for a shaded walk in nature is also lovely but the main attraction is the abundant plant and bird life.
They do have a nature store with wonderful books. Often the Tualatin Park rangers are out and answer questions or lead specific tours. Lovely to have such green space in this area.

Let's talk nature...

By Mary |

Another beautiful park in this area. Easy access parking. It was rainy the day we were there but lots of hiking/walking trails. Wonderful place for children 😊.

A pleasant, shady stroll

By cdth |

Several miles of nearly level, winding trails, some paved, through typical NW forest: mixed evergreens and deciduous and lots of ferns. In the midst of suburban Beaverton, its 200+ acres (about .7 mile from east to west), this park is a quiet refuge. With adequate parking and a nice visitor center, this a good place to take kids (as long as they don't try to plunge through the underbrush), or simply find some (relative) solitude. Two creeks and a couple of ponds add interest. And, it is, of course, free.

Natural experience

By PattyR203 |

Something for everyone at this Nature Park. Ever changing vegetation, blooming Water Lilies in the spring, croaking frogs, newts. Heavy vegetation and trees make you forget you are in a city, particularly if you are off the asphalt and on one of the dirt paths.

Runners and bicyclists mostly very courteous. And old and young alike can enjoy portions of this trail.

Best place to walk on a hot day

By Pierre-Andre L |

This week is gonna be hot in Beaverton. You can easily walk for hours on the lovely trails in this park and it will be relatively cool, green, and beautiful. Our favorite place in the summer.

Peaceful Natural Preserve in Beaverton

By SasPDX |

Lots of mini and moderate trails in the approachable quiet SW Millikan Way. Very peaceful area, have been there several times for walks. Winters can get very dark very quickly, but you are not far from well travelled roads.

Great Walking Trails

By Clarissa S |

Such a lovely pleasant place to take a leisurely stroll or a brisk walk. Well-maintained trails. Unfortunately, the trails are shared with bicyclists who are not always polite. Otherwise, the woods are especially nice in the Spring & Fall when it is cool & shady down among the trees. Summer can be a bit oppressive and humid in among the greenery, but it's still very pretty. There are a few picnic spots near the visitor center; they could stand to set up a few more, with an eye to putting them in shady spots.

Magical forest inside the city

By Shaymae L |

The nature Park is hidden inside the City of Beaverton it has several entrances some of which are not well marked like that on 170th avenue. There are pads for bikes and for walkers there are signs explaining the history of the trees there is a pond that is sometimes full and sometimes not but always beautiful there are bridges and all types of tall trees and birds it is truly a magical forest what

Easy trail

By Mandi K |

Pretty trail in the suburbs, not challenging but fairly easy way to get to nature for a quick moment.

Take a quiet walk

By Curious728728 |

This is a good place for youth groups to visit, or anyone who wants to get closer to nature. Lovely nature trails.

Beautiful nature park within Beaverton Area.

By Hai N |

Beautiful park for walking and running. Well kept by city of beaverton. Very popular during hot summer due to lots of shade. Awesome place for running around the trails ..

Good place to learn to bike

By The_HHH |

Both my kids worked through some training wheel stages here. Depending on route you can have perfectly flat or hills. Great place for a walk in the woods.

Easy Trails and Instagram Worthy!

By Elsa Faith |

Trails are easy and on a nice day, the park has several spots that will be Instagram worthy. Although it's close to the city, you will not even notice the hustle and bustle of it when you're on your adventure. Ample parking space.

delightful trails, helpful staff

By YanBoq |

Wonderful place. Delightful nature trails. We even saw a deer! Signs along the way gave good clues as to what we were looking at. Free maps made it possible to plan the walk with our little grandchildren.

Beautiful walk right in the city

By CarolRororo |

What a pleasant surprise to find this oasis right in town. Four of us walked for maybe and hour and then took in the Visitor Center. Well done all around!

what a wonderful wildlife walk even for the handicapped

By Kirk L |

I was injured in a car accident and walk with the aid of a walker but that doesn't slow you down here if you are bold.. there are miles of paved, boarded, and dirt trails to follow and I have ... walker and all... there are all sorts of ground animal here as well as a number of species of birds.. the people you meet on the trails are friendly for the most part and the area is fairly safe for the solo walker

Great place to go for a walk by yourself or with a group.

By Laura B |

Great place to go for a walk by yourself or with a group. People ride bikes, jog, walk and the main trails are wide enough to handle all types. They have nature camps in the summer, and educational programs as well.

Curiosity is around every corner

By Sunnysnow |

This place is incredibly wonderful to walk alone or with others. We saw 2 deer and in the spring a duck and her babies.

A great place to get away close to home

By Helen S |

This lovely little nature park offers both lovely walks through forested spaces and benches and overlooks to pause in relative quiet contemplation. the wetlands area is filled with birds and places to sit quietly . Parking is available along with a nature guide to what you might see at the entrance. Access by MAX (light rail) at the northwest side of the park makes this a convenient place to take a break and a breath.

Tranquil, natural setting for a short walk

By InlovewithOregon |

Located A short distance from a very busy street, but you'd never know it! This is the place to take a walk if you're seeking a lovely and quiet natural setting of tall trees, native shrubs and ponds. The paths are paved and wide, so easy for most to enjoy. You will encounter wildlife, including deer, depending on when you are there. It is very shady, so a wonderful place to visit on a hot day. The Nature Center at the entry to the park is definitely worth a visit with a wealth of information and interactive exhibits for both adults and kids to enjoy. No dogs allowed, however.

Amazing Trails and Hike!

By enbunny007 |

I stayed in Beaverton for several weeks, googled all the trails in the area, and this one is Superb....a pathway that is elevated and you walk on a bridge, mind you...its very secluded, but I felt quite safe, since I had 2 dogs walking with me....very forest like and among nature itself.

Truly beautiful to have such a nice park located in a residential neighborhood!

Great for city strolls!!

By Katya H |

If you would like to take a walk in the city and enjoy nature, Tualatin Hlls Nature Park is the place. The park's location makes it easy to get to it, and there is always a place to park since it is never too crowded. Also, if it is a hot day, the temperature there is always 10 or more degrees cooler, so you can hike the many trails that you will find in the park.

Serene, lush, in -town 220 acre forest

By Beth P |

I feel very fortunate to live within a mile of this forest. There are paved walking paths for bikes and strollers as well as unpaved paths which are less used and offer serene moments with deer, owls, bunnies and squirrels. I agree with another person's comment "An oasis in the middle of Beaverton." Once you visit and experience the natural beauty, you will most likely return many times.

Nature in Suburbia

By sally572014 |

Easy to pop in for a quick restore and appreciation of the things we sometimes take for granted here in the beautiful lush green N.W. The Nature center is a fun browse and nice that their are benches along the way to sit for a moment and take it all in. So nice to have this spot close to home. Enjoy!

Great walk through the woods

By TiffanyVDC |

I love walking through here. It's a nice walk through the woods in the middle of a neighborhood. You can't hear the traffic around the area and it is nice.

loved it

By Michelle M |

My family went to this park while we was visiting my daughter. she doesn't live very far from it. What a great place right in the middle of Beaverton. You would never known you was in the city while walking the trails. Had lots of trails and things to see. I could have spent all day there just looking at the trees and the birds. Great place for kids. Even has a natural center for the kids to learn about the park.

A Beautiful Place to Hike, Right on the MAX Blue Line.

By ChicagoMike97 |

When I ride the MAX light rail blue line out to Hillsboro from my home in Downtown Portland, I always pass Tualatin Hills Nature Park. It is right at the Merlo Rd./SW 158 Ave. station. I researched this nature park and saw that it received good reviews. I am a big hiker, and I frequently hike at Mt. Tabor park in SE Portland and Washington Park in SW Portland. I decided to give Tualatin Hills a try. I was very impressed with the massive fir trees, tadpole pools, lily ponds, and creeks. The wooded trails reminded me of Muir Woods near San Francisco. The forest at this park is absolutely outstanding, and the park is actually quite large. I was able to hike a 3-mile loop on the trails, which was great exercise and a beautiful walk in a natural area, right in the Portland Metro Area.

Forrest in the city

By 19Happycamper58 |

This place is so awesome. You would never guess you were in the middle of the city. Beautiful scenery!

Hike and informative

By claudia b |

Very comfortable trail to walk . It pretty ,quite, and restful. Family friendly. The gift shop has good information. There are great classes for the kids. My Grandkids have gone for day camp in the summer and for winter break. The have great plant sales .

Wonderful place to reconnect to nature and eliminate stress…

By Daniel C |

This is a truly well-maintained nature center with awesome trails and plenty of nature to enhance your experience. There are trails ranging from a quick walk to a couple hour hike. There is also an interesting nature center building to explore, plenty of parking and clean restroom facilities. This is well suited for a solo adventure or the entire family.

Great place to visit

By Coolhand12 |

I loved this place, nice, easy walks. The animals aren't shy. Only in a couple of hours I spotted beavers, red & grey squirrels, a couple of deer, a chipmunk and many more. Apparently there are Pokemon here, whatever they are, and I guess you can't get rabies from a Pokemon!

Sanctuary In The City

By Rick H |

Great respite from the busy world. Within just a few feet from the parking lot, it's a completely different environment. Secluded, peaceful and serene. One edge of the park is easily accessible from the MAX.

A great walk in the city but feels in the woods.

By Ilse K |

We often walk here. It's good for hot weather because it's nearly all in the shade.Sometimes trails are blocked because of the weather (flooded). Sometimes there are sales of native plants.

Sanctuary in the woods

By Kim S |

Here we are in Beaverton, with the bustle of cars and other noises; and you walk into the woods at the nature park and it feels like you've been transported to another world, so quiet and peaceful. Lots of wildlife live there, some critters you don't see every day; it is a sanctuary for them as well. The woods can be a little cool, so on certain times of the year, you might want to take a light coat. There are paved trails that are wheelchair accessible. If you're not a woods person, there is another part of the trail that goes through fields out under the open sky.

Easy trail in a preserved nature setting

By MeeMawPaPa |

We love this nature preserve and the work going on there. I just wish I could ride my bike around the trail.

Great get-away!

By Fondue55 |

Walking here is a great way to get away from the business of day-to-day life without having to go away. We love strolling through the natural landscape at dusk.

Great place for a short hike.

By Maryellen F |

Well preserved and interesting place to have a short hike while visiting. Well labeled plants and a good discovery center for children.

Nice little walk close in Beaverton

By labklb |

Made a quick little stop here before we headed into Portland that evening for dinner while staying in Beaverton. It's a nice little nature walk that one can walk a mile or two on nice trails in the woods.

Nature In The City

By eddiepix |

Get outdoors in the forest without driving for hours...well maintained nature park, good trails, easy hikes/walks. Big trees, wildlife, just a neat place to walk around and enjoy nature.

Hidden Jewel in Beaverton

By Bev |

Families can enjoy a peaceful walk through the woods and learn about the local plants and wildlife at the Nature Center and Gift shop. Quiet times of meditation and listening to the birds will fill your hours here. At dusk the beavers can sometimes be seen emerging from their abodes near the pond at the end of the trail. This is a hidden jewel in the midst of Beaverton... be sure to search this one out!

Great Beaverton Walking Paths

By acnona |

THNP is a wonderful natural forest area with great walking paths that are mostly paved so it can be a wet day and you can still have a great walk. There's a Nature Center with good information, clean bathrooms and plenty of parking. Hurray for our excellent Tualatin Valley Recreation Department!

Great Park!

By dre6742 |

This is a great park for walking, jogging, running. The variety of trails within and around the park allow for any number of distances for your activity and the different scenery keep me coming back often. Considering this is right in the middle of Beaverton, you would never realize it, spotting deer, coyotes, rabbits, birds, and many other creatures is almost expected. The size of the park is impressive and limits the number of times you encounter people even when the parking lot seems full.

Lush Area for Some Easy Hiking

By DonnaPortlandOR |

We went here for an hour long leisurely Sunday afternoon stroll and found the trails easy and attractively bordered with lush native vegetation. Spring has just sprung, and the new growth of numerous plants and trees made for continual enjoyment. Terran is flat so accessible by almost anyone and there are a number of inter-connecting trails for a range of hikes. Dogs are not allowed, which for us is a negative and will limit our desire to come here. This time we walked our dogs beforehand closer to home and left them to nap which exploring the nature park with friends.

Place for a great and short hike

By btreid |

I come here once a week. Its my favorite place to hike in Beaverton.
It's quiet and not many people use the unpaved trails. The paved trails are very good too but more people are using it. This nature park is kids friendly.
Lots of birds singing, owls can easily be spotted, squirrels, snakes, chipmunks and deer!
Enjoy!

Beautiful!

By Sandra L |

Love this, hidden away gem. Breath of fresh air to step into the natural setting away from the hustle and bustle. My daughter spotted wildlife and enjoyed myself.

Easy Trails, Beautiful Visitor Center

By Lawonridge |

This park has wide easy to walk paths among great trees and plants. It is not overly long, but you can extend your walk by branching onto the adjacent Bikeway, which was quiet on a week day. Visitor Center is very inviting.

A Hidden Gem to walk and enjoy the beauty of Nature

By Stan K |

We wanted to enjoy nature so we went
to Tualatan Hills Nature Park. Lots of trails to view various elements of the beauty looking left, right and up.

Great Walk In The Park!

By Gilbert Gil M |

An interesting and informative walk that tells about our Northwest natural habitat. Great place to go for a walk by you, friends and family. If it's been raining - when doesn't it in the Northwest? Stay on the paved paths! If you’re more adventurous and it's been or is raining take shoes or boots you don't mind getting muddy, it is worth it.

Peaceful and enjoysble

By Deanne A |

Well maintained super easy trails make for a nice little escape within this urban area. Was very quiet mid week afternoon though can imagine gets busy at other times. Thick woods, so be prepared for bugs.

Nice walking place

By Shelly E |

This is a nice oasis in the suburbs. I used to walk there a lot with a friend. The only problem we had was that she was afraid of snakes and we saw several on and near the path, but they were harmless. There are both paved and rough paths.

Beautiful Nature Park

By Sue H |

We saw this park while driviing to our hotel. Good thing we returned later and discovered a wonderful area to explore. We were too late to visit nature center building but the park is open until dusk, so we had plenty of time for our walk. There are maps to follow the numerous paths through the wooded area with ponds and steams along the way. You forget that you are actually in an urban area. Only one problem -- bicyclists do travel on some of the trails so while most of them would announce that they were coming, be aware and walk to the right.

Beat the Heat!!

By Elbecko45 |

Great place to cool down in the shade and enjoy a nice stroll. This is one of my favorite parks in the area.

Lovely afternoon

By MichelleMcCullough |

We spent a couple of hours in the park enjoying nature. It is a lovely park with wide defined paths and plenty of wildlife and nature to see.

Great Nature Park

By Jules |

This is my next review for all the great outdoor activities that Portland has to offer. I walked along the beautiful shrubs and trees and wonderful river or spring flowing alongside the trail. The the pretty colorful autumn leaves .Magnificent
! It was like being transported to another previous lifetime.Very energizing and wonderful. Would re commend .Julie B

Hidden Gem

By Lynn C |

This is my favorite park in all of SW Portland! We have walked the paths here many times and it never disappoints. We have seen beautiful snakes (lots of them when it's warm), newts, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, deer (quite a few), frogs, an owl and many other birds. As you walk the different paths you will see many different types of forests, all amazingly beautiful. Both paved and dirt paths lead in many directions so you can choose the type and length of your walk. Absolutely cannot say enough good about this beautiful west side gem. Let's keep it beautiful and serene please.

Nature walk

By Renemac |

Very nice quiet uncrowded walk/hike. A couple of different trails that loop back to the parking lot. Very scenic.

Beautiful hike!

By Karen Z |

Well kept trails! Beautiful scenery ! Lovely day! A day away that gives you that vacation feeling! Dogs on leashs are welcome! Trails are mapped out!

Occasional visit

By patrickator |

Nature is always attractive to pay attention to the little details. Plants and their different lives combined with the birds, squirrels and other animals living with wild environments somehow manage to be amazingly successful in their lives. When the varied environments occur throughout the course of a year and the animals and plants manage to survive....WOW! Thank you for all your gifts to us dear Lord in heaven!

Peaceful quiet, Paths shared with walkers, strollers and bikers.

By RubyDuo |

You can still find times where there are fewer people there. Staffed office is open till 5pm. They have a gift store and small reference library. You can get your nature questions answered. It's quiet --only hearing cars near the outer borders. The paths meander so you can get your steps in between the trees. Wheelchair accessible for getting your oxygen on some paved walkways. Although some asphalts have steep downhills.

Beautiful landscape and staff

By GAmbridge |

Take your time. Allow at least 3 hours. Take snack's and plenty of water and don't forget the camera. What you pack in, pack out. Lots of poison oak so keep children on a short leash.

Great place to get in touch with native plants by bike or on foot.

By Donald B |

Convenient to both work and home in the Beaverton and east Hillsboro area. Excellent green area with both paved and unpaved trails affording views of native flora and fauna. Paved trails are great for biking and the unpaved trails are exclusively for hiking and walking. Classes in the visitor center are worth it too.

Good paths, great location

By Michele M |

Portland is a metro area filled with walking/hiking paths of all styles and fitness levels. It's fairly easy to find a new place to walk and get some exercise while enjoying nature. The thing that makes places like Tualitin Hills Nature Park stand out is that the paths are named and mapped out at the park entrance, and there are markers along the way to let you know how long each segment is. Plus the markers show you the way back to the entrance (the paths are rather circuitous!) Overall, the park is a great natural place to walk.... lots of foliage and flowers, plus the usual critters seen in theses environs. I prefer doing my visits during the week because it's less crowded and makes for a very peaceful walk. On the weekends you'll encounter families, strollers, and dogs... so if solitude and communing with nature is your goal you might want to avoid the busy times!

The only thing that I'd like to see added is a connected path that goes completely around the perimeter or the park, or maybe a color-coded path system for differing lengths of total mileage.

Mature Forest

By Darrel K |

Fairly good sized park with a few miles of trails . Nice variety of trees and undergrowth . Can get very crowded on weekends and you can often hear the road noise in the distance . Good place for a hour or so but dont build your vacation around it .

Peaceful Oaisis

By Leon T |

This is one of my favorite hiking spots. You can string together a several mile hike by walking the various trails. Very peaceful even though it is in the middle of the suburbs. Only thing missing is it is all level so if you want a cardio workout head to Cooper Mountain. In the winter when all the leaves have dropped you can hear a fair amount of traffic. A great variety of ecosystems within one park. Lots of wildlife especially if you go early in the morning.

Nice place for a walk (or a Pokemon Go! Expedition)

By RoadtripMom |

I enjoyed the lovely walking trails. My husband and kids enjoyed the many Pokemon Go! attractions. We will definitely return.

Great walking trail

By lynn c |

This nature park has everything. Great walking/biking trails, natural surroundings with bugs and flora for all.

A walk in the park

By Carolrn69 |

Great place to get out of the heat and enjoy the quiet. Parking lot may be full and there may even be a school bus sitting there but this park is so large you may never meet a soul. Several benches to rest on and enjoy the quiet. This spring we watched woodpecker parents care for their eggs and then their young for several weeks. Great place to take young children. Clean washrooms.

Awesome park with great walking trails

By Sandra Ortiz Yang |

We went to this park to walk around when we were visiting family in Beaverton. It is a great and beautiful park with nice trails and amazing areas to take pictures. You could have a nice exercise walking some of the trails and enjoy the area while walking.

A breath of literal fresh air

By anonymousduck725 |

We made a quick stop here to stretch our legs and to enjoy the scenery on a recent visit to the Portland area. Lovely greenery everywhere and it smells fantastic. Would love to explore further one day! Only down side was that we felt nervous leaving anything in our car because there were multiple signs warning you not to leave anything of value there. Makes me wonder how often cars get broken into here.

Nature Park Volunteer - Love this place

By NWNITTANY |

I have worked here as a Nature Park Volunteer almost since the park opened. This is my quiet place to get away from work at lunch time and be with the flora and fauna. There are quite a number of trails to follow and things to see in every season. One of my favorites, is in the middle of the winter sometime between December and January on days when we get heavy rains, the newts will come out on the trails in large numbers. I have also see nesting flickers, garter snakes, owls, hawks, herons, and other wildlife. Sometimes you can even catch (well maybe see in a blur not catch) some world class runners coming here from the Nike Campus.

Great Place to Walk or Jog

By Lynn5450 |

Beautiful place to walk and renew, groomed trails, very cool in the hot summer days. So many beautiful, tall trees. Very close to Beaverton, ample parking and free!

Good place to take a walk in a nature park

By Eric L |

Paved paths, wooden walkways, clean restrooms, nice bookstore and educational center. Plenty of parking unless an organized event is scheduled.

Wonderful Nature Park

By EMK60 |

Beautiful trails that are not heavy hiking. Perfect for the family with different levels of ability. The nature house is a wonderful resource for learning about the plants and animals of the area. The summer camps are fantastic too!
A wonderful get-away without driving miles!

Great place to let the kids explore

By Dana D |

We live in Beaverton and enjoy taking the kids here regularly. The very small little museum seems to always draw their attention. A walk around the trails is a great way to get in a little movement. We often take umbrellas and go for a "rain walk". I have taken binoculars to "spot" wildlife which the kids promptly used to study a big slug up close :-) We have seen deer, one even with a large rack, slugs, snails, newts, and squirrels. As an adult, we sometimes forget how these "normal" things excite the kids.

We have also participated in some of the programs they offer from a night hike to hear the owls and coyotes, to the kids attending a week long summer camp sort of program. All have been very interesting and have gotten the kids excited about their natural surroundings.

Outstanding and Peaceful

By Steve G |

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the folks who set aside this wonderful park. What a treasure. Right in the middle of the city there are walking and biking trails where you feel like you are 100 miles from Beaverton. Check it out.

great place for a long or short walk

By Steve A |

can't go wrong getting out into this little preserve in the middle of Beaverton. The trails are well cared for, the fauna is beautiful, and if you stay still you'll seem some cool critters like deer, newts, birds, and such.

Relax in all weather

By John L |

Great place to run, think cry, read a book, listen to the rain, enjoy the trees, the birds, meet new friends, and so on. I live 1000 miles away now but my mind is still there when i miss oregon

Tualatin Hills Nature Park: a good place for a short hike

By Kent O |

Tualatin Hills Nature Park: a good place for a short hike. Several trails in a wood area with a lake.

A walk in the woods

By DewPortland |

The trails through the woods are paved and mostly flat which makes it good for seniors and children.
It is cooler on a hot day with the leaves as shade.
While various animals make their home here, I have never seen any on my four trips. Well worth a visit.

A local favorite!

By Julie L |

This nature park is one of a few little oases in the Beaverton area. Even though it is surrounded by suburban traffic, when you’re inside it is so peaceful and idyllic.

THPRD often hosts children’s camps as well as seasonal events here. My son and I have enjoyed family nights out here to watch for bats, and I often take leisurely strolls here mid day to beat the summer here.

A great place to escape the heat that is easy to access.

A breath of fresh air

By JANE R |

Any time of the year, this park is nice for a quick stroll, or a long walk. Lots of love from the park volunteers, and it shows. Even use it as a cut through on my bike. Love the smells, and they are always free.

Beautiful Park!

By jmonacelli |

An amazing tranquil spot in Beaverton. We went there 3 mornings to hike/walk - the 2 mile outer path. It is certainly worth a visit!

Beautiful little walk

By Jack B |

This is an oasis in an otherwise crowded area. We were instantly refreshed from the heat by the cooling canopy of trees. Despite the threat of poison oak, we all came out clean so all good on that front. Tons of birds. We saw a little deer to boot.

Beautiful

By The Outsider |

This park is beautiful and pretty much an all natural sanctuary. There are some paved trails but most are dirt/gravel. The grounds are kept up by park employees but also by volunteers. There is a gift shop inside the information center as well as restrooms. Because the reserve is a natural environment and has wet lands you may encounter mosquitos so be prepared and enjoy!

Great place to be surrounded by nature

By Becky L |

So close in but you are surrounded by nature and beauty. Changes all the time so it's important to go several times a year. The visitor center is excellent!!

Lots to love

By pyrofemme |

This is a great place for a walk, jog or just to take in some nature. There are paved and unpaved trails, mostly flat. Lots of trees, ground cover and the occasional rabbit or squirrel will cross your path. There are bathrooms, parking, a information center and meeting rooms available as well. I really enjoy coming here after work to unwind from the day. It's always relaxing and refreshing.

Lovely sanctuary right in town

By Greg W |

We walked, hiked and ran the trails of this Nature Center and had a great time on a beautiful day. It's a tranquil slice of Oregon forest and wildlife right in the middle of the suburbs. Definitely worth a visit.

Pleasant Oasis

By Sue F |

For a small area it's possible to rack up 3-4 miles. While there is a reasonable amount of foot traffic, as a lone female walker I feel safe there and it is possible to have some solitude. There are well placed benches throughout and plenty of useful information about the flora & fauna. The signage could be improved, but it's difficult to get lost.

Great little park

By Leslie K |

This is a great little park for a nice walk. There are several different trails to follow along with a Nature Center too.

Very nice, but we cannot bring our dog.

Very well maintained, quiet trails. Interesting variety of native plant life. A relaxing walk with a variety of trails.

Pleasant outing in suburban setting

Love the paths that are much like forest trails. So many native plants and a store/nature museum to learn more about backyard success using northwest plants. Lots more as well.

Great Urban Oasis - Best Parking off Millikan Way

By Steve A |

This park is very large, treed, with a lot of paved trails throughout. I enjoy walking with my family and grandchild in a stroller or running to and through the park. There is also a nice welcome center with a rent-able teaching room where we have attended birthday parties and wedding receptions.

Safe kid friendly.

The place is really nice and is child friendly. There a couple different trails to choose from. It feels calm even with kids.. from time to time we have seen deers.

Lovely short hike in the city

This is a nicely kept up walk through the woods but close to public transportation, Costco, Nike and off Jenkins. There is a nature center and restrooms. Only wish it was bigger.

Stunning, Peaceful, Healing

By Scott N |

The beauty and peace of this place was trumped only by Multnomah Falls. We were on our way back from Washington and chose to stay a night in Beaverton. When we woke I googled places to hike and this place came up first so, we went. There are numerous trails and none are better than the rest. This place is beautiful. We had a close encounter with a large owl and snapped many wonderful pictures. I love this place and the natural beauty has been basically untouched in spite of the presence of a couple of developed trails. Plan to spend at least a couple of hours here. If you love nature and you like to walk, this is for you.

Kayaking the Tualatin River

Excellent place to get out on the river with a kayak, canoe or paddle board. There are a few tricky areas with rocks to navigate depending on what stretch of the river you paddle.

An oasis in the middle of Beaverton

By Moe C |

It's surprising how quiet and serene it can be on these trails, so close to the hustle and bustle of industry. Joggers and leisurely walkers share the paths through beautiful trees and a few ponds. Wildlife sightings aren't too unusual, although you'll probably hear more than you'll actually see. If you pay taxes in Beaverton, it would be a shame not to explore the nature park and enjoy what you pay for.

Relaxing Location

By subeenorfy |

A wonderful place to walk, run or just have meditative moments.. I would suggest spraying on mosquito repellent before you head into the forest. Many trails are wheelchair accessible. The Max train tracks borders the property and so at times you will hear it go by.

Beautiful and relaxing

The location is great. It is close to major roads , but you feel like you are walking through a forest. I always challenge myself to find wildlife. I have seen deer, rabbits, turtles, frogs, newts and small snakes. If you want to get away from the city and take a walk in nature this is the ideal place. Whether you want paths that are paved or are natural you have either option at this park.
