Beautiful view of the ocean!

By Debra C |

This is a really nice pier to walk out on that also sells beverages. You can also fish off this pier.

Tybee Pier

By Confettyhouse |

The Tybee Pier is always great to go to. It is free, but parking on the island is a bit high. (2hr min=$7). Sometimes there are many fishing from it and can get crowded, but a great place to visit while on the island.

A NICE WALK

By jetmann1959 |

Lots of fun just walking around, weather was cold but it was nice to see the ocean. Its open all day long

Happy experience

By LSUGLIA |

Super clean, beautiful views. We really enjoyed ourselves. Great tourist shops nearby. Great food as well

nice

By bandckey |

visited in the evening and there was a nice view and not too crowded. if you like piers you will like it

Not the nicest of piers.

By Karen F |

We went to the pier several times. It had very limited attractions and only a couple of fast food choices. Not someplace special.

Tybee Island Pier

By LAShorty10 |

It was a nice walk out on the pier..beautiful views! I think it’s great that there are fishing pole rentals....it’s nice for people who might not ever fish to give it a try!!

Nice pier!

By JANIEandKEN |

We walked out on the Tybee Pier, such lovely views of the beach in both directions, white sands, so pretty!

Live music!

By albjess |

Great place to get ice cream and listen to live music. We saw a few small sharks and some Jelly fish from the pier. Great for an evening walk. Closes early but can understand why.

Swinging on Labor Day weekend

By jennjenn316 |

Go to Tybee Pier Labor Day weekend! The Swinging Medallions were playing music and the fireworks were amazing!! A must do!
Felt clean and sad!

A pier is a pier...

By saorisenyl |

Its a pier... but its a nice stroll when your already on the beach! Lots of fisherman pulling up sharks and varied fish, was fun for kids to watch.

Tybee Pier

By Don S |

Not much to say, unless you like to fish from a pier. It's long...with a lot of birds flying around, and does in fact offer some nice views of the coastline (north and south) on a clear day

Tybee Pier

By Beth B |

We love the Pier! We watched fisherman reel in sharks, white fish and stingray. The views were fantastic of the ocean and the shore.

Nice pier

By tangojohnDallas |

Cold on a winter windy day. I went a couple of days. Be sure to pay for parking as we watched the city parking attendants eagerly looking for violators.

loud music, obnoxious hooligans

By Cookevillelocal |

rude guy in the booth giving out 'information'. More like a retired New Yorker on a bad day. Annoying music was blasting loud. Only junk food to buy. The other end is much nicer.

A classic pier

By Lottelli |

Parking near by. There is a section with some food stalls playing music. Walk up the pier for some lovely views of the beach and sea. At the top of the pier there were people fishing which was great!

Luv piers

By Jennifer S |

We went there for the day. You have to pay to park, we went to the beach and then the pier. The have picnic tables so you can bring a cooler and eat there for lunch or they have sum
Things there you can buy food. It’s a little run down but it’s an older pier but still loved it.

Very long pier but the views are breathtaking and extremely relaxing

By Wagon Wheel |

After a light lunch down the street, we decided to walk along the beach and onto this very long pier. View was fantastic and relaxing once you arrived at the very end

Awesome fishing pier! Great centerpiece of the town

By Jim A3Mermaid T... S |

What a great spot to fish, ocean watch, people watch, just a wonderful giant pier with a rotonda beach side. Truly enjoyable spot on the Atlantic Ocean on wonderful Tybee Island.

Beautiful Pier on a beautiful beach

By welikepalms |

We spent some time in Savannah and before leaving we wanted to see the ocean. Tybee Beach was a great choice. We drove out in the morning, parked and walked out on the Tybee Pier. What a wonderful venue at the beach. It was early so not much open but could see lots of things for people to do. During the season I would imagine this is a popular place. We were impressed enough next year we plan to spend a night or 2 in Tybee Beach during our March trip south.

Great Views

By John379 |

The pier offered some great views during our trip to Tybee Island. It was winter and empty and very nice for a stroll out to the end for the great views. If you are in the area of Tybee Island it is well worth the stop.

Entertaining even if you don't get to fish.

By 2017art |

Got up early and walked down to pier. One gal (Penny) was fishing. she was well experienced ans friendly. Easy to talk to and added to the pleasure of the trip. tells visitors about what is caught there and what you can't fish for and why. interesting, as NO Rangers bother to educate of even acknowledge you. Saw stingrays caught and others up and down the pier that was a mystery to all but heading for the supper table anyway. Saw some large Reds as they were referred to, and headed off down the beach with them..must be good eating, The guys were anxious to get them cleaned. Explained how stingray steaks were punched out..I was focused on the stinger in his hand.

FREE!

By Johanna C |

Was surprised that such a nice pier did not charge to walk on. There are concessions sold in a covered area with plenty of picnic table seating when you first walk onto the pier. The views here are great! My husband also enjoyed fishing here. He didn't catch as much as he has at other piers but mentioned (on the last day of our stay) that others had caught sharks as big as 4-6 feet! The pier is well lit and to my surprise, the hangout of a large flock of pigeons.

great pier

By Pam I |

A must to visit when you are in the area. Even though, the season is over, many of the bars and shops remain open.

Kids loved walking out onto it

By DWC |

Visited in Late May. Beach area had a lot of visitors and was crowded. We had 6 adults and enjoyed the walk out onto he pier and back. Could see all the jelly fish in the water. We walked the beach in the mornings and saw several jelly fish as well on the beach. Nice experience.

WonderfulAlways is to be someone super friendly there to chat with

By S M |

Great views, clean, wonderful place to fish from or just sit and relax and people watch. Always is to be someone super friendly there to chat with. We did not let our children run free and wild but we did feel very safe and comfortable

Very dirty

By Mbjboyd4ever |

Just visited Tybee for 4 days. The pier and the beach around it was very dirty. Trash laying on the beach at the end of the beach access areas and in the dunes. It really made me sad to think that there are so many irresponsible people in one place. Early in the morning we watched public workers driving dump trucks and bulldozers picking up trash along the beach. My husband spoke to one of them and he said they had picked up 62 tents that had been left - this morning:(. We can’t figure out why so many people are that careless with such a beautiful place.

Tybee Pier

By NicChick84 |

I really like going to the beach by the Pier. There are public bathrooms and a snack hut. Important for beach goers! I'm not a fisherperson, but there was always someone fishing off the pier, so it looks like it's a good place for that too!

Nice pier

By Marywallace12345 |

Nice place to walk. Very accessible for wheel chairs. A very. Nice place to sit an look at the view.

Totally free and super fun place!

By WanderingQMS |

Totally free and super fun place to go deeper "into" the ocean to see ocean life and birds, etc. It was interesting. There were restrooms, picnic tables, and vending machines available. We were there in December, so the concession stands were closed.

great place to grab a beer , love the atmosphere

By kimfht52 |

sand ,crowds and shade . what a fun place to hang out, speakers blasting Bob Marley, you can grab lunch ,grab a beer or a margarita, just a lot of fun!

Nice spacious pier to fish and sightsee from

By matt d |

This pier is pretty wide which is nice considering fishermen and sightseers have to coexist! The fishermen have the room they need to cast while others can look around with out worrying about getting hooked.

Vacation!

By Jennifer Z |

We had a blast in this area! Spent several days at the beach in this area! We also walked it at night and the waves were beautiful!

Worth a visit even in the "cold" months

By William McC |

I have visited Tybee Pier and Pavilion many times during the sultry summer months, and you cannot beat it for people watching, coastal sightseeing, fresh ice cream, and other ready walk-away treats. But on a late November visit during a gale, the nearly deserted pier provided an entirely different kind of enchantment, with views of raging seas and dancing curtains of windswept sand. If you are in the area in the fall and winter months, treat yourself to a visit to uncrowded, off-season Tybee Island, when the Atlantic Ocean reminds the Georgia coast who's the boss.

Highlight of Tybee Beach

By lpdutil |

Having not been impressed with the beach experience overall, the pier is very nice. It extends well into the water. At the end there's a lot of people fishing usually and quite a bit of drinking as well.

Fun little visit to with shops and restaurants

By Lynne M |

Fun little spot. Very very busy but for good reason. It’s a great place to fish or have some pictures! Lots of fun!

It Is A Pier

By OBX717 |

Clean bathrooms, food and drink are available and it is a good place to go fishing and watch the people on the beach.

Great Place to Visit at Tybee

By randyaero |

Pier is n great shape and in a perfect place for TYBEE island, very calm nice place to walk out over the waves, Very enjoyable

Right in the middle of Tybee the pier is great.

By jphillips157 |

Several places to get a sandwich and cold brews. Clean rest rooms and a great beach atmosphere. Walk off the pier on the town side and there are several shops and ample parking. Walk out on the sea side and watch the anglers catching their dinner.

Great Pier

By Heather B |

This pier is beautiful and spacious. We enjoyed seeing what the fisherman caught and watching the heat lighting off in the distance.

Nice pier

By Erv1981 |

It is free to walk out on this pier. Cost money to park, we paid 1.50 for the hour. Nice covered area with drink and food choices as you enter the pier. Surprised people were walking on the pier smoking and drinking alcohol. Good views from the pier. Didn't witness anyone catching any fish on our visit.

Great views

By TNMelissa |

The pier is a cool place to visit and take a walk. It is pretty crowded around it, but not so much that you can't enjoy it. It's not possible to look out at the very end of the pier because of people fishing.

Nice views of the island

By bmandrellfan |

Nicely maintained pier that does NOT charge admission to walk out on it. The pavilion has restrooms, snacks and drinks available for purchase. It is nice to walk out to the end of the pier and enjoy the views of the island and beaches.

DISAPPOINTED

By jack M |

Maybe it was the season but there was nothing on the pier. NOTHING! So we just walked to the end after paying for an expensive parking and drove back out.
Would not do it again. Better piers everywhere on the coasts.

Live music on special occasions and great fishing

By charberryTEXASnTYBEE |

The Tybee Pier is very large and a fun walk over the ocean. The rotunda is giant. They have live music and great bands. If you like to fish, you can catch good fish from this pier.

Fun

By mhull3786 |

It’s always fun to go out on the pier and watch people fish. It’s really exciting for the kids when a shark is caught. At first my granddaughter was really upset (she’s an animal lover….sharks included) until she realized they throw them back in. We love when they have music at the pavilion and we get ice cream and enjoy the music.

Love visiting here!

By JollyCruise |

I love visiting the pier here. The beach is great, people watching is always fun and the area is nice and clean. If you enjoy looking for shells, this is a great place!

Unique experience at the Pier

By burney-jones |

Best Free thing to do on the island. It is Always a must see when we visit Tybee. Non Alcohol frozen drinks are the best and Fanny’s is close by if you want a snack. Watching the Kite surfers is also a treat.

At least no smoking, but rough!

By Wiscofamily |

This is the best part of southern part of island. No smoking on the pier thank god, because when you step off you will think it's 1970 with all the smokers. Cute ice cream and sandwich shop but also a cocktail stand and plenty of drinkers too.

It was average

By Kim B |

It was like any other pier with the exception of a bar. Great to go and see one time but not something I would return to see.

nice walk on the pier

By Michael J |

a bit cool and windy, but friendly folks fishing so it was fun to visit with them. no one caught anything while we were there-buthope springs eternal

Clean and in order

By Freddie S |

We walked the pier and watched a few fisherman pish! The water looked clean and the beach was beautiful. He had a drink at the bar that was there also.

Beautiful

By Kelly M |

It was spring break and it wasn't too crowded... beautiful!! Great place to go, if you do not like HUGE crowds.

Food, drinks and bathroom at Pavilion

By Zeb |

Loved the pavilion area where you can get food, drinks, beer, and use bathroom for free. shopping right down the street and pay-parking.

A Tybee must see!

By Lizwphillips |

Such a cute pier. Great spot for pictures and to grab a drink and watch the sunset! Love that you can get snacks during the day. Restrooms are clean and love the music!

"Pierless"

By Brimsmith |

One of the finest piers on the East Coast. You can fish from the pier and if you didn't bring your gear, you can rent it. There are also snack bars, bars, and live music on the pier.

Cool pier

By shawn |

We strolled this pier during a recent Oct visit. Tybee was having a warmer than usual spell so we didn't linger long, except in the shade! Nice views of the beach.

Great pier

By vjmsuma |

To me This pier is the center piece of the village on Tybee Island.
It is a very good picnic spot. The covered pavilion has tables, snack bar and bathrooms. The pier seem strong and safe. If you walk to the end you can rent
fishing equipment and buy bait. There are a few benches to relax and just enjoy.

Beautiful veiws

By Melissa French |

They have vending machines, an atm and several different vendors. The food vendors are decently priced but they only take cash. The bar that is inside is pretty expensive on drink prices.

A pier

By ROSEBUDSAC |

Sort of a let down. A pier that has seen more robust days.
Would be so great if the town made some attraction at the pier.
The pier did offer fishing although did not see anything caught the morning my granddaughter and I were there.

Great pier

By MrDonSchaffer |

Went to see how the beach rejuvenates going. Looking good, can’t wait for spring to start enjoying the beach.

The best view of the ocean

By daeva1 |

We had a wonderful time, very clean place, good food, very beautiful place, the best sunrise. The best place for Family vacation......

Much to do about nothing

By HospitalityPros |

If your already in the area maybe it's worth a walk on the pier. Otherwise not much to do there. Bring cash as credit cards not accepted at the concessions. Rent a fishing pole for $8 plus weights $1 plus bait $7 plus other fishing needs.

Great for a long walk with family

By Mike |

Walked the local shops and went out to the pier for a long relax full walk. Nice to see all the oceanfront locations. Food and drink available too.

Neat part of Tybee Beach

By brandio1029 |

Walked to the end of the pier where many were fishing; you are able to rent fishing rods and such to fish off the pier. There is also a ice cream shop and another little snack place inside the pier.

Disconnect with target audience with New Year’s Eve fireworks

By Chris H |

We loved loved loved the fireworks on New Year’s Eve. It was a great show to ring in 2019. But we hated the pier pavilion that night. Loud music that was inappropriate to the event along with a bunch of wild juvenile delinquents made it feel risky to head to bathroom with kids while waiting for fireworks. Could easily have been planned as a family friendly area for all the people waiting on beach.

Wonderful place

By MorganSmith2014 |

We spend a lot of time on the pier, watching fishermen, talking to mother viistors and just enjoying the ocean and the breeze. This was a highlight.

Cute!

By Kimberly B |

We watched the sunrise on a swinging bench right by the pier and then explored a bit. Great place for fishing (or watching people fish), has large bathrooms and looks like there’s places to get some food too

Do on full moon night

By Vagabond2be |

The view of the moonlight across the water on a full moon night is really nice. Would be a very romantic thing to do although I was there with family. Parking in the adjacent public lots isn't an issue, providing another reason for going at night. We did so about ten pm and didn't feel unsafe at all. Even in November, there were many other people there.

During the day, I'm sure there are lots of people fishing from the pier. So kids might enjoy watching that. It also offers great views the length of the beach and of the boats at sea.

Nothing to do on the pier like in the northeast or on the west coast though

Pier

By dixieshreves |

Ive been to the pier twice now, both times it was really nice! Its large, well ventilated, easy access to the beach as well! Takes cash only, but has a snack stand and a bar!

Wonderful!

By Patricia S |

A wonderful place to fish, bird watch, and people watch. Great view, of course, of the ocean. It is very well kept and handy to get down to the beach. There is a swing next to the pier, but it was occupied! Parking can be a problem, but it was easy to unload my husband's fishing gear, let him out at the street level, then park.

Peer pier review.

By mikenorris2 |

A good pier when it has entertainment on certain holidays but not really much. Nothing but a pier over water and a beach.

Must see beach

By sheried2017 |

We had fun walking out to the pier. We watched people fishing . Then we walked the beach. There are several shops near by. Parents need to be with your children here. I was able to walk my dogs around the area just not at the beach or pier.

Down time

By nelsongassman |

Always great too get out here no matter what part of the beach you come to it’s great always fun and relaxing plus it’s your place for peace and quiet

Vey pretty

By teresa b |

We enjoyed walking on it very much. We did not fish from it. Vey nice place to sit and eat or relax.

Pier

By Rose B |

Very nice and clean. We were there during the day and at night both. Music was great and was a great group of people enjoying the view and watching the sun rise and set.

Free pier visit in Tybee

By Sydmo8299 |

This was our first visit to Tybee so we were trying to get as much in as we could. Our first stop was the pier. I was shocked that it was free. The pavilion has a nice sitting area with food and drink to purchase.

decent pier

By crystalhelton11678 |

We only went up the pier to look for bathrooms, which they did have but they were very dirty and crowded. which i guess is expected for a beach. they had a good amount of food to choose from and it was very roomy and shaded

Better food selections

By ThereseImperiale |

Part of the Pier was closed for repair.(Understandable) No much to choose from in the food/Snack department we got the kids hotdogs and a burger. Just OK at best Burger tasted fake or full of soy. Icecream was good.. Sis had a few drinks from the bar which was nice. Did like that they had Music playing.

Windy Pier

By gatorbaby718 |

When we went it was very windy. The food shops were closed but there were table to sit and eat if you brought something with you. There was a bar per say but it only took cash. The walk on the pier was beautiful with the waves coming in. There were people fishing. It was a really nice walk.

Great area with music, food and bathrooms

By Mary L |

The pier is full of people, enjoying the music and hanging around in the pier. Bathrooms are available as well as some food. Fun atmosphere if you want a break from the beach.

Relax with beautiful views.

By Amelia S |

My husband and I strolled the main street and pier before dinner. Fishing is popular and I believe no charge. The views of the surrounding islands are beautiful, and there is a large covered area with picnic tables and a few food stands.

Nice beach

By Nikki S |

This place is nice. Really surprised me! I can see that this would be a huge family destination but me being single didn't utilize as much of that stuff. The beach was very clean the water was awesome. Definitely worth the two trips from pooler!

Beautiful

By Jennifer S |

Very nice and well kept pier. Nice spot to swim and relax. Right by the marine center which is a neat little place to see.

Nice pier!

By Stephanie E |

The pier itself is kind of short, but it has a huge covered area with tables, a snack bar, an ice cream shop, clean restrooms and a to-go bar. We loved it!

FINE ME ! BEACH that’s it is !!!

By Glaucia Betesh |

Tybee Island or Fine Me Island as many tourists will call it, is located 20 minutes from Historic Savannah. This barrier island boasts five miles of dredged sand to allure tourist to support their economy. Tybee is a “Pay to Park Community” in order to keep critical island services available for visitors and residents. “We take in a lot of revenue in different ways like visitors with parking and hotel motel. These costs are always growing because the sheer amount of people that come to visit requires us to keep and maintain a certain number of police officers,” said City Manager Shawn Gillen

Note that Tybee Island generate close to 5 Millon dollars in parking and another million in fines. Ah yes, the fines, pull up a chair with a beverage this is what Tybee doesn't want you to know about. There are 21 on the books and more to come! I am sharing all this information because I was a victim of one of these rules and charged $1100 in fines! This is a nothing special about this place that only wants your money and not you. The police, parking and code enforcement are lying in wait for the opportunity to pounce and write a citation. Code enforcement will also be out making their rounds looking for all sorts of beach violations. He says they’ve been really cracking down on one violation in particular. “Make sure that your litter is contained at all times in a bag or container. If you bring it on the beach, take it off the beach. We don’t give warnings; we just give a ticket.

If you have a pet leave them home or go to another beach as they are not welcome on Tybee's Beach! More summer visitors are flocking to Georgia’s largest public beach, and that means local officials are writing more tickets for rule violations. Police on Tybee Island in recent months have been reporting high numbers of citations for beach rule violations such as littering, having glass containers on the beach, and climbing on sandbars.

City Manager Shawn Gillen said one particular violation has shown a huge increase — people bringing dogs onto the beach, which the city doesn’t allow.

“We’ve written more dog tickets in the last year than we have in the last four years combined,” Gillen said. “It’s one of those things where we’re getting more and more signage to let people know about the rules and we ask people to go to our website, look at the beach rules and understand them because the code enforcement will be writing a ticket if they see the violation.” Let's talk about the signage, they have been busy this fall upping the signs after they got called out on the lack of. They are not illuminated and only at the "Public" accesses to the beach. If you're renting a residence you might have a private entrance to the beach and never see them. It is no excuse and your responsibility to know the rules of the beach!

Gillen says it’s not just more people coming to the beach that’s driving up citations after the coronavirus pandemic slowed tourism last year. He says the island also has a full staff of code enforcement officers patrolling the beach, which wasn’t the case during the height of the pandemic. That adds up to a cool million in the cities pocket folks! Code enforcement on Tybee Island will be keeping a closer eye on beach violations, like littering and dogs on the beach, with a new beach surveillance system. “Code enforcement is going to be up there dispatching code enforcement personnel. They will be able to monitor the entire beach all the way from the river on the north end to ally 3 on the south end,” SAID Shawn Gillen, Tybee Island City Manager.

The food available at the local eateries is subpar and small potions, at a 5-star cost. Oh, when they are even open. Traffic will drive any normal person crazy as 10,000 plus vehicles visit on a busy day. This is a seasonal town that again only wants your money and not you. Don't give them the pleasure of supporting the locals who could care less.

Nice pier

By Traveling couple |

This pier does not reach a long way out into the ocean, but it is sufficient. Fishing is offered at the end of the pier. In between, the path is well lit for evening strolls and star gazing. And it's free!

watch for sunrise

By bigpittstop |

It was a nice place to walk out for a beautiful sunrise view. Gets a little crazy as the night goes on, but there are CASH Only snacks and vending areas, covered picnic table areas. In the summer lots of youth just hangining out and fishing off the end of the pier.

It's a pier......

By Eswau |

Nice place for a walk to be able to look at the beach. Several snack shops on it. Basically, the hub of Tybee Island.

Beautiful vistas!

By Retiredonce |

Located near the Hotel Tybee and close to local shopping and restaurants, the pier is a delightful place to take photos, watch container ships leave the Port of Savannah, or just enjoy the view.

Pier for a price.

By Steven S |

A few years ago, one could visit this area for free, but since then, it is pay for parking there and everywhere there is an open space on the island. It is $3.50 per hour in all available spaces. Only free parking is at the hotels.

Fun Place

By blkr k |

No live music due to covid, but they were still playing some greet music to dance to. Grab a bite to eat and a cold drink and enjoy. Lots of fishing going on at the end of the pier too!

Seems like a great pier

By Itraveldou |

Looks like you can order food here, but when we were there, the food shops were closed. Not sure if that is a temporary issue or what. I visited around dinner time, but it was fun to walk out, see what people were catching off of the pier and get neat views of the ocean and Tybee Island.

Loved this pier!

By Sheilabd2016 |

We enjoyed spending time on the pier in addition to the beach. It gave us a different view, and we enjoyed watching others fish and a little break from the sand.

Nice big pier on Tybee Beach!

By Kevin V |

Really "roomy" pier on Tybee beach. PLenty of walking room and piped in music make it fun. A definite must see at Tybee beach.

Its a Pier

By Kenneth G |

This is a simple pier and pavilion. I guess it is good for fishing, and probably a nice view. The attached pavilion has a small cash only bar and there are some vending machines and picnic tables.

Loved it!

By Janet P |

We stayed at Hotel Tybee and loved being so close to the pier! Nothing like a walk on the pier at sunset or after dark!

Nice little Bar and Grill here

By SteveArn |

Great food and drinks. Friendly staff. A must stop on your way to the beach. Inside and outside dining. Clean restrooms.

Very Nice

By Michael M |

Our evening walk took us to the pier - which is quite short, but well built. Standing at the end of the pier from just before sundown until dark we saw at least 500 brown pelicans in flight formations headed north to roost. Some of them came very near where we were standing. It was one of those never before or after experiences that I will always cherish.

Typical pier

By EagleTravel29 |

The pier is located in the main part of Tybee with all the typical seaside stores that one sees in a situation such as this. It was a nice place to walk out and look around, but nothing beyond that.

Great People Watching!

By Amy B |

Great place!!! Large covered arena with picnic tables. Also have an ice cream shop and a small hot dog/sandwich stand. And a bar!!! Great people watching and you are able to get a drink!!! Drinks are kind of expensive but the bartenders don't skimp on ingredients so worth it in my opinion!!! Fun place to also watch the people fishing, they pulled in several nice size sharks (one a hammerhead shark) while we were out there watching!!

Windy

By travel_eat_drink |

We had hoped to end the day on the beach at sunset but it was so windy and chilly it was a very quick trip out to the pier and back to the car!

Nice Pier

By BubbleMarker |

The Pier is nice but I recommend that they hire a few more people to keep the bathrooms clean - DISGUSTING!

Beware of parking tickets

By Jason S |

We stopped for a late lunch, and walk on the pier only to find a $47 parking ticket upon our return. There was no sign that it was pay to park. What a trap City if Tybee. Not cool!

nightly walk

By Brooke Davis |

Amazing walk along with pier with my family! The nightly walk was amazing as well, seeing the fish being caught was alot of fun!

Favorite Part of our Vacay!

By Chanelle B |

My son and I loved Tybee! We took a day trip over from Savannah and am so glad we did because it ended up being our favorite part of the vacation. The ocean was beautiful and warm and we even saw dolphins swimming very close to us! Concessions were great and the people were friendly. We went on a Saturday, so it was much more crowded than I would have liked, but that's to be expected on the weekend, I imagine. The pavilion and restrooms were kinda gross, so I would recommend changing before you come and maybe bringing a tablecloth of some sort if you plan to eat at the picnic tables.

Great pier

By cmaine6 |

Very nice spot. Enjoyed sitting and watching people fish from the pier. Brought a lunch and ate at the picnic tables.

Fun pier, no admission charge

By GeorgiaTravelers51 |

The Tybee pier offers a snack bar area with music, food and drinks. At the end of the pier are many fishermen. There's no charge to walk out on the pier. Parking at the pier parking lot is $7 for two hours.

Excellent

By Michelle S |

Very nice pier. Our entire family enjoyed walking on it and the views. The entire area is beautiful and extremely nice to visit. I highly recommend it.

Surprisingly Nice

By Der |

Great place for a walk and some food. The food was surprisingly tasty and oddly the pier wasn't nearly as crowded as the beach. Bathrooms were large and clean. Always a plus.

Construction

By GireRVadventure |

It was a beautiful day and the pier was lovely, however there was construction going on on the beach. Although I understand why it is better to have construction work done during the winter, it made it impossible for me to give it all 5 stars.

Wild wild east

By Craig M |

Walk the peer. It’s a cool way to see Tybee. Windy on the day I was there..and cold but probably not an unusual occurrence. Apparently Will Smith was filming near to us, never saw him but ran into some production crew and had a security guard make us move. So that happened. Place is cool, with bathrooms easily accessible.

Great pier

By garyhas |

We visited the Tybee pier while we were at Tybee and its one of the great piers of all time. They have a great center gathering section before walking out on the pier. Restrooms were very clean and well taken care of. The pier itself was high and built to last, it also gave a great view. The very front had a nice covered seating area. We will return to Tybee next year!!

Nice fishing spot

By Rhonda G |

Saw a man catch a stingray while walking on the pier. Very clean considering all the people fishing. The bar at the pier was good.

Excellent for sunset photos

By Dog_Trainer24-7 |

If you are looking for a place to get stunning sunset photos, this is it! The colors are so rich and vibrant they don't seem real and photos don't do it justice. It's beautiful even before sunset too. The amount the water level changes between high and low tide is amazing! Don't get caught having to climb over or crawl under a private pier if the water comes up while you are away from the parking area!

Tybee Island Pier

By Sandi C |

My favorite time on Tybee consisted of visiting the pier just before sunset. We met some very interesting people from all over and watched some young boys fishing off the pier who were nice enough to let us snap some pictures of their catches before they were released back into the ocean. Every color of the rainbow were displayed in the evening sky and it's very peaceful watching dolphin surface nearby.

Great area for beach access bathrooms are horrible

By Tiffany R |

Parked at the Tybee pier to access the beach at Tybee island. The pier itself is nice and there are different shops and restaurants. Parking was easy and was priced like any other parking. Beach access was easy but I’m giving this a lower rating because of the bathrooms. They were so gross. They were dirty and weren’t well stocked. I understand it’s a beach bathroom but you shouldn’t be getting bit by mosquitoes while changing and the smell of pee was so strong. Not sure when they were cleaned last. Would return here to park but would change prior to going.

Great Pier

By Coleen S |

Very impressed with this pier...lots of things to do eating, fishing, music...or just sitting and enjoying the view

We love this Pier!

By amynoelle76 |

This was our third visit to this island. The pier was right down from our hotel & well within walking distance. We walked on the pier many times during the week. The sunrise and sunset from the pier is breathtaking!

Great view!

By Rae C |

Great place to get a view of the ocean. You can even see dolphins if they're out there playing. There were family reunions when we there so you might be able to rent part? Not sure.

Nice Facility

By robertmaster123 |

Pretty pier and very nice place to take a stroll. You get a nice view of the beach and ocean. The pavilion has facilities like snack bars and rest rooms.

It was a beautiful view

By 96dixieb |

That was very nice reset up there and ate lunch with our Girl Scout troop And we enjoyed nice bowls of ice cream with our girls

Fishing, food, and beers

By Jmuracn |

Tybee and Savannah are open container cities... this might make the tybee pier the best place to go fishing. there is a CASH ONLY food and beverage stand under the main section... and great fishing on the end of the pier. the little fishing shack was only manned on the weekends when we went (OCT) so be prepared... TS Chus has some gear if you get stuck, not too far from the pier.

Pretty quiet spot

By Megan L |

We came here to watch the sunrise on Christmas Eve and it was super quiet, there was only 2 other people on the pier the whole time we were there and it was a beautiful with all the birds and the calm ocean. Would love to come back in the summer to see this place during the peak season. We usually go to Myrtle beach SC or Ocean City, MD for vacation so for what I’m used to it seemed pretty nice.

Wonderful View

By 197stevee |

We visited in April during our honeymoon. It was a great view but rather cold. It's still worth a stop if you have time and want to see the ocean. Safe travels!

Nice Pier

By Kimberly A |

A Nice roomy pier that offers food and drinks. It was a nice asset to have on a hot day at the beach.

Breezy Bliss

By banzal |

Very relaxing cool breezy day. Great spot to relax, people watch, and enjoy ocean views as the tide recedes and rises.

Neat, fun place to walk

By cemelaugh |

My husband and I visited Tybee Island for the day. Due to the Beach Bum Parade later that afternoon, the street parking was closed. We were fortunate to find a parking space by the beach Pavillion area. The pier is short but cute. As you walk up on the pier, you enter through a covered Pavillion with music playing, lots of picnic tables, food options, and restrooms. The walk on the pier gave you a great view of the beach.

Super Chill!

By Susan W |

What a great seashore town. Everyone going and coming from the beach. The shops a quaint and full of beach items!

Permanent vacation

By Brian N |

Excellent fishing pier ,beech views, huge pavilion, close to shopping ,parking and food, Tybee hotel. Marine science museum.

Tybee Island and North Beach

By Nora H |

If you are in Savannah, rent a car and head to Tyber Island. You will find good food, the lighthouses and the North Beach. It's a must stop.

Stopped by to check out the view at pier

By Michelle V |

My husband and I stopped by the pier to check out the beach at Tybee. I liked the shade as it was very hot. There were vendors with food and drink sales. All of Tybee has paid parking so be sure you have some coins.

Great place!

By jonilynn86 |

Really enjoyed the pier and everything it had to offer. We spent a lot of time here on our trip. Can't wait to go back!

Awesome beach

By TiffanyMcClellan |

Very family friendly beach. You can get under the pier if you don't want all the sun but still want to enjoy the sand and water. My husband and I loved it there. My kind of beach day.

Nice view

By Rick C |

Great to walk out on the pier for a nice view. Restrooms, food and benches. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby.

A relaxing Ace

By Joseph H |

A fun place. They have a food stand and a bar. Plenty of vending and places to sit. A great place to relax or fish.

Don't forget to always pay for parking!

By MominOC |

Nice pier and pavilion that is clean and fun to go down to the end. Windy on this visit so didn't stay long. Pay for parking 8AM-8PM 365 days a year.

BEWARE

By VABeerTraveler |

Visited the pier on a recent trip. Parked on the road leading to the pier and received a $47 parking ticket. I have no problem paying for parking but the requirement was VERY POORLY marked. Looks like the city installed a central payment location to replace individual meters but didn’t bother to pay for signs. It will be a cold day in you know where before I return.

Pier

By James S |

Too much smoke inside from the restaurants and my son's asthma flaired. Half the area inside was also roped off.

Must see!

By Stephanie B |

Gorgeous views and lots to do! Food, shops, family fun, beautiful and easy walk - will always come back any time I visit!

nostalgic visit

By keenerkrew |

Old pier with a pavilion type area at the beginning. Several small areas selling snacks. seemed to be fairly clean.

Neat Pier

By angels2mom |

We walked the pier on our last day. The structure is amazing! Has snacks to eat and plenty of room for everyone.

Party Pier

By Jason D |

The South Beach pier and pavilion offers snacks, drinks, music, an fishing for those on South Beach. It felt dingy, though, and a little rowdy. This whole area felt like a party beach, while the North Beach areas felt like a family beach.

Nice Pier, food and drinks available

By Todd S |

Nice Pier, food and drinks available. Easy walk to the Business district with great stores and restaurants, also great views of the Beach.

Nice Beach Area

By 550aileenb |

We enjoyed the nice clean beach area but there were so many teens/young people present with less than attractive behavior. Don't really need to visit again unfortunately.

Another Pretty Coastal Pier

By Hannah R |

I’ve been to a lot of piers during my travels and this one offers a perk or two. I like how wide it is and well constructed. I also adore that the beginning has a covered area with tables and little burger shacks/bars right on the pier! It’s a nice place to just hang and take a break from the sun. Overall a decent pier!

Quick visit, but good

By NicoleGJones |

The pavilion at the pier is massive! We just couldn't get over the size. There are a few food places and people fishing. If you're in the area, take a quick stroll to the end and grab a snow cone.

Good hike and great views

By Gail O |

It's a good place to see it all. Great views of beach, surfers, ships. There are picnic tables and "carts" for ice cream, drinks and food. Ramps make it accessible for all. Benches along the way.

Great View of the Beach

By Nancy S |

The pier is quite expansive, offering a great view of the beach in both directions. In addition, there are spots for fisherman, picnic tables under the pavilion, music, and a refreshment stand, making this a good spot to enjoy the other beach goers or take a stroll. Nearby parking lots, maritime center, souvenir shops, and beach bars, make this a good location to spend some time.

Great walks

By scharpm |

Love walking the pier! We did it multiple times daily. Food, ice cream, bar, music in the pavilion area. Loved to watch the fishermen/women catch fish on and off all day.

great place to walk or fish

By Andrew K |

The pier is wonderful with shade, vending and snacks along with music. Great area to have a picnic with clean restrooms.

Great location & views!

By Tara F |

Great views, can get snacks & drinks on pier and they have a nice big seating area with picnic tables. Easy access to beach from pier and its located right next to the Marine Science Center. Walking distance to many local shops & restaurants and public parking is all around it.

Pier fun

By grits_are_good |

We love the shade it offers and the bustle of activity. There are restrooms if needed. The kids love to take pics under it. Some cool photos.

Pier is small.

By LeighanO91 |

Was disappointed. We had just been to St Simon's and Jekyll Island. We went to both piers they were much bigger plenty of room for fishing and those visiting. Tybee Pier is very small compared to those. Did like the area you can sit and eat. That was nice.

Great pier!

By Laura |

Fun pier that offers shade and food/drink when you need a break from the beach. They play a really nice mix of music and there are bathrooms too.

STUNNING

By P J |

Very clean restrooms. Nice for fishing. Good to see the sunrise and sunset or to get out of the hot sun.

Must stop when you go to the Beach

By K. Ely |

We spent almost 1/2 hour at the pier. Great views of the beach, clean restrooms and could get ice cream and drinks here. A lot of people were fishing, but a lot more just people watching.

Tuber island pier

By Gail L |

Just beautiful

By Dodgegirl33 |

Ive never seen a prier so beautifully built. Theres a whole fishing area at the end with everything you need. Even with all the people it was still a calming place for me.

A structure that juts into the ocean

By landonjohnr |

Did not fish off of the pier although some were-there is a bait shop at the end that rents gear-seemed pricey, and sells supplies-pricey also. The pavilion at the shore has consession stands and restrooms-they did not take credit cards when we were there.Sun intolerant people set up under the pier in the shade.Fairly new construction, free to walk on,closes at dark+/-

Solid pier

By aspoe093 |

Cool pier and nice little walk. Really liked to watch the kids swim and surfers try there hand. The pier gave good views of that. Also, saw a lot of fisherman.

Great day!

By TroynJeanne |

We spent one whole HOT Georgia morning at the beach. We saw the sunrise right next to the pier. Then we came back after breakfast and spent the morning swimming and sunning. The pier was a welcome relief for some shade (temps reached 90+). It was nice to walk and see the coastline. The place was clean and well maintained.

There for the plunges

By nelsongassman |

What a great day this is we’re the plunge started on the beach. Great place great staff friendly and helpful

Lot of fun fishermen

By Tommy599 |

Tybee Island is literally at lands’ end (end of the island chain) and that one block away a walk from the condo takes you to a gigantic free boardwalk out over the ocean (other locations we have visited over the last week charge you to go out on the pier and a separate charge to fish), and some beautiful wide white sand beach. The outside temp was 82 F.

We headed to the pier and watched fisherman pull in small fish, a 4 ft shark, a skate, as we enjoyed a sandwich and drinks we picked up at the IGA. Wow a lot of surfers are out here with those sharks and CANNON BALL jellyfish in the water.

your basic pier at the beach

By Ron T |

Several people were fishing, otherwise it was pretty deserted on a mid-afternoon. It does have bathrooms. You can get "ballpark" food (hot dogs, hamburgers, sodas, etc.) - cash only.

Watch the fishermen, use the restrooms....

By RBonTheLake |

When you're at the beach, this is a nice place to get away a bit, watch the fishermen (we saw one catch a small shark - he released it after showing it to us), and the gazebo area gets you out of the sun for a bit (as well as have restrooms). The restrooms were not very clean, but for a public beach restroom, it's not bad.

Ladies restroom was awful

By MissySearson |

The HVAC vent on the ceiling above the toilet stalls is so filthy that dust and dirt hangs out of it about 3 feet long. Hasn’t been cleaned in forever. Also, not one single soap dispenser had any soap. This was at 1:30pm on Monday. When we paid $3.00 per hour to park, we surely thought that cost could pay someone to clean the bathroom occasionally. Very bad impression at the height of tourist season!

Fun landmark, nice placement on the beach

By captjacksprrw |

There is no charge to walk out and enjoy. Large area with food and vending under the pavilion. Pier closes at 11

very nice

By chris b |

If you go you have to go out on the pier very clean. free . very spaceiouse. If you go out at night you can see so many stars

A Beautiful site .

By Marcus B |

A very enjoyable walk to the end .This is a must if your on Tybee Island . Stop by the ice cream bar and enjoy a treat very reasonable price on their item's . Family friendly and the view is amazing .

Worth visiting once quickly

By Traveller |

I visited Tybee Island during my visit to Savannah in June 2021. I parked on a street near the Tybee Pier with several souvenir shops and restaurants. You have to pay for parking (you can use a credit card to pay on the parking meter). I was a bit taken aback by the fact that nobody was wearing a mask despite the fact that it was very crowded. I chose to wear a mask. It was nice to walk out on the Tybee Pier and look at the beach and the ocean. I wanted to see Tybee Island once and I doubt that I would return there. If you are visiting Savannah and have the time then it is worth a quick visit. I recommend going in the morning when it is a little less crowded. I arrived there at 11 am on a Thursday and left at 1 pm.

not enough room

By Megan C |

You have to pay a lot of money to park unless you want to run back to the car every hour and pay another 3.50. If you are paying with card it starts at 7.00 and adds 3.50 every hr. This is insane to me. They have music playing which is ok but the pier for fishing is SO SMALL. We got about 10 pieces of shrimp in the smallest container they had and it was 10 freaking dollars! We spent 30 bucks to park and fish and caught nothing as there was no room and left within the first hour.

Great place to have a walk

By Mike |

My wife and I very much enjoy walking the pier. Always get ice cream and just stroll out to the end. You can watch the fishing going on, look back at the beach village, and just catch up on your talking. Great place to visit.

Beautiful & Relaxing

By william s |

Beautiful views and a relaxing walk. From fishing to weddings.
It is a great place to watch the birds and sunsets. Do not forget to pay parking.

Relaxing In The Evening

By Elizabeth |

Relaxing in the evening during the week, otherwise there is a large crowd gathered to fish. Getting onto the pier is free & it’s free to fish, they have gutting & cleaning stations as well. Beautiful view from everywhere on the pier as well as food & drink readily available.

Great atmoshhere

By Mystee J |

This is our must go to spot every time we are in Savannah, GA. The atmosphere is great, whether we are alone or take the kids. The pier has people fishing off of it, a few little shack stores on it as well. Stores are lining the beach for all your beach essentials (and not too expensive). Only downfall was we found out an Uber may drop you off there, but good luck finding one back to Savannah. Luckily we found a good local who helped up out.

Nice views

By Daisy C |

We came here around mid-day last weekend and there were plenty of people out, but not crowed. The stands inside were not open. Bet it is lots of fun in summer. Would be a good place to take a break from the sun. Good place for pictures. It was still closed off at the end. Repairs?

Nice pier

By tat19952017 |

We spent about an hour at the pier . There is plenty do around the pier as well. The only down side is there are no stores on the pier open at dark.

Nice pier

By 963melissan |

As first-time visitors and it being wintertime, it was really nice. Not many people so the visit was more enjoyable. The pier is well maintained. The beach around the pier was very clean. The one drawback to Tybee Island is the $3 an hour parking fee.

Great views

By Explorer732829 |

We spent several days on the pier just watching the sunrise. A few days we watched people fishing and surfing and that was enjoyable. We sat on the benches and just enjoyed the many great views and passing ships.

Tybee Pier

By Susan B |

Certainly a must see when on Tybee Island. Not much to it but it serves the purpose of a pier. Worth the walk out on it and the view is amazing!

Spacious, Rent Fishing Equipment, Picnic Area, Great Beach

By MariefromGeorgia |

This place is great for a family gathering, it also rents out space for weddings I am told. There are lots of tables for a picnic, vending machines for sodas and lots of bathrooms! Walk farther on down the pier and there is a place that you can rent fishing equipment if you want to fish spur of the moment, people were fishing and just relaxing with the sea breeze and watching people playing volleyball and swimming down below the pier. This Pier and beach is located near restaurants & shops.

Fun atmosphere under pavilion

By rg3766 |

At first glance I did not think this pier looked great because of how short it is. I have seen people swimming out about as far as it goes into the water. However the atmosphere of the pavilion part at the front makes up for it. There is usually music and bars open along with ice cream and some food stands. There are always people there and it makes for a lively feeling.

Tried to go here but couldnt find any PARKING SPACES!

By d0minic3 |

Wanted to go here but there was NO PARKING SPACES! Drove by it and it looked good but was unable to experience it.

A Long Walk On A Short Pier!

By Fred |

This pier does not reach a long way out into the ocean, but it spans an area that is sufficient to get it away from the crowd of the beach. Fishing is offered at the end of the pier. In between, the path is well lit for evening strolls and star gazing. The center of the pier is covered and there is often an event or live music there to be enjoyed during the summer. It's free, so why not???

Gotta do it, if in Tybee

By Marjorie P |

There's not a whole lot to do in Tybee, but you have to walk down the long pier and do the sites around it.

Interesting to visit and watch some fishing.

By Amy T |

Interesting to visit and watch some fishing. A few food and drink vendors near by. Parking near by as well.

Great view

By fyrlady98 |

The view from the pier is amazing. You can see both sides of the beach and out into the ocean to see the shipping lane. Lots of people were fishing off the pier. We walked out both during the day and in the evening. The pier was well made and in good condition. There was a fishing bait and rental shop at the end, but we didnt utilize it.

Fun spot to fish

By Crystal |

My husband and son fished from pier. They had fun and even caught a small stingray. Experience my son will not forget.

Beautiful

By Erika S |

Seemed like it’s kept very clean. Beautiful location and view. You can tell they keep up with replacing boards if necessary.

Good, clean fun

By terridp3 |

Very clean and LOVED the fact it was kid friendly! The kids enjoyed looking over the end and walking under the pier too! Caught a very big crab one night close to it also!

Cool Vibe

By DLP |

The pier is an ideal place to spend your time at the beach. The pier offers food, drinks, bathrooms and music. It also provide a nice shelter from the sun. It has a low key, laid back beach vibe which enhances the experience of hanging out there. Very enjoyable place to be....

Nice pier, Beautiful View, Bring Cash

By Sandra D |

Over the weekend, we decided to walk down the pier. The first time we walked down it was late at night. There were several couples sitting on benches. One couple was playing some music that I didn’t feel was appropriate. Several people were fishing off the pier.

The next day, we returned to the pier to buy some ice cream and a couple drinks. Just a heads up, the pier only accepts cash. There is an atm on the pier, but it wasn’t working properly when we tried to get cash out of it.

Day trip to Tybee

By Andrew F |

My wife, 24 year old daughter and I went to Tybee Island for a day. We bought a cold beer, and walked the pier, nice experience.

Pier????? The end is barely in water at low tide

By Elizabeth |

Not really even a pier. More like a porch and fishing is not that great. It’s more of a love bird hangout. Forget the pole rentals or bait shop. It closes at early evening as in 5pm.

Nice place to take a stroll

By Gary T |

They like their music here and they like it loud. Two small places to eat and a bar. Lots of people fishing on the pier. There was a small rental at the end that offered poles and bait. Think it was mainly used for shade for the people on the beach.

Many activities available.

By Robyn J |

Fort Pulaski is closed for repairs. Lighthouse visit is very informative with a video to view about the lighthouse history. Sundae Cafe is a hidden gem with terrific seafood and steaks. Closed Sundays and reservations a must.

Watched people fish

By Ellesbells742 |

We enjoyed the view, the walk and watching others fish. It is a great pier with food, drink and restrooms.

Pier At Night

By Katherine Powell |

We walked along the pier in the evening. It was well lit for us to see. It was wheelchair accessible, so I was happy to see others who needed this service, enjoy the views as well. It seemed very family-friendly. The only thing is I feel there probably needed to be an officer encourage young teenagers who were sitting inappropriately to gather other places that where families were walking through and enjoying their visit. We hope to visit again soon.

Goodness! The best place in the state!

By Dana S |

Oh my goodness! If you are looking for the most beautiful beach....Tybee Island Georgia is the most perfect place. Maybe crowded at times but no one bothers anyone! This is a must see. It is a little expensive, but we'll worth the money. I also recommend Sting Ray's seafood!!! Mouth watering deliciousness....I couldn't do it justice trying to explain just how delicious it is. You gotta try this food. Especially if you like a plethora of Seafood! Oh my goodness!

Neat Pier and Fishing

By PaulyPauly2014 |

While on Tybee Island we visited the pier! Snack Bar and Full Bar in the Pavilion Area. Bait was available also on the end of the pier....
Very calming and not crowded on this Monday! My wife and I enjoyed ourselves and this was a good part of the day here on Tybee~

Great Place to Get Right Over the Ocean

By LonestarSpartan |

The Tybee Pier is a great place to visit. There are always a lot of people fishing at the end of the pier. You don't have to wait long before you see someone pulling in a big fish. There is an attendant at the end of the pier that rents poles and sells tackle.

There is a pavilion at the first part of the pier which is quite large with a bunch of picnic tables. There are also restrooms there, along with some vending machines and some food/drink stores.

If you are on Tybee, you should pay the Pier a visit. There are several large pay for parking lots very close by.

A Good Access Area

By loves2travelandmore |

The Tybee Pier had no entry fee, but a sign indicated that groups of twelve or more might be charged. It is fairly long and wide and has a pavilion with bathrooms at its start. Fishing is done from the pier, but today's fishermen said things were slow. The Pier offers nice views down the beach in both directions.

Beautiful and peaceful

By Laura |

We went in January so it was low season. Actually enjoyed that it was not crowded. Beautiful to walk along the shore but my favorite was sitting on the pier benches and just looking out into the water. Loved it!!

Beware!!! new parking system is a trap.

By melvin b |

Beware new parking system is a trap. Came to Tybee Island for a quick visit. Paid to park and got a parking ticket for 80.00 dollars upon leaving. only stayed 45 minutes.

A Definite Stop if You are in Tybee

By Anthony P |

We decided to give this a shot after our huge lunch. The pier is quite large with a couple of waiting areas complete with seating, food stands, and bathrooms. The stands were not open while we were there, so cannot comment on those; however, they also had several vending machines in the first pavilion. The pier provides a great view of the beach and the surrounding area, and is stunning during sunset. Something you definitely do not want to miss.

Nice break from a busy day

By Joyce S |

Sit and relax, let the wind cool you down and the sun warm your back. Great place to sit and rest. Concessions sold but everything was closed when we were there, vending machines but didnt try them.

Tybee Island

By Shannon S |

We loved the island! The pier was awesome and the beaches have swings! We just sat on the beach in the swings and enjoyed the waves. Savannah is so close so we drove in there all the time. It was a great trip! We would love to live on Tybee Island!

Very nice

By c5mjb |

This is on the beautiful Tybee beach. It has a pavilion on the shore-side end, with concession stands (closed for winter). It also has a small outbuilding on the seaward end. There are fish cleaning stations, and it looks like a good place to fish. Tybee Island Marine Science Center is right next door.

Fun, Family Friendly, Good Eats

By CindyMcN |

Stopped by the pier to see the ocean and rest. Got a hot dog and some ice cream. Saw 3 small sharks get caught. Was very fun and relaxing.

Beautiful Beach

By Bill F |

We arrived early to view a spectacular sunrise and stayed to enjoy the beach for several hours of people watching and relaxing. The parking is free until 8AM. Thene it is $2/hr until 8PM.

Lots to offer...food, fun, sightseeing and fishing...

By David D |

The Tybee Island Pier Complex has lots to offer. It has a large pavilion area that offers food, drinks, public restrooms...as well as a large seating for parties, small concerts and events. The long end of the pier offers great views back at the island, dolphin watching as well as fishing. While were there, we saw a couple fish being reeled-in, and everybody really seemed to enjoy their time at the complex.

Sadly, nothing to write back home about.

By Ms. Salsa |

I decided to use the bathroom facility located on the pier. That was actually the only reason why I got to explore the pier. Unfortunately, it barely made it as half/decent to use the bathroom. Overall, the venue was not that clean and they had this hard core rock music blasting from one of their speakers, that all it did was encourage you to leave as quickly as possible. Sad, 'cause it does have the potential in being something great to spent time at, if the city would only take a bit more interest on it.

Cool Pier

By cheryl n |

We enjoyed walking out on the pier. Got very nice views from here. The pier was neat and clean. A must do if your on the island

Pier out over the ocean

By Tricia E |

Walked the Pier and took some pics. Fun place to hang out and people watch too. We also enjoyed sitting on our balcony with a view of the Pier.

Always fun

By Rachel W |

So perfect to sit and watch the water. Love to get the kiddos an ice cream and look for dolphins and its always beautiful.

LOVE THE MUSIC

By Cherokeerebel |

The music on the pier is always good. My favorite is the beach music. I love to walk on the pier....sometimes there are weddings, other parties, family reunions. Nice place to take the kids for a walk.

Nice stroll

By mtngal2 |

This is a nice pier with no fee charged to walk on it. We saw many people fishing. There are concessions and restrooms, too.

Nice stable pair with good space.

By Edsalldw |

patrolled by rangers so have a license if fishing. Saw rays an djely fish from pier. despite birds the deck was clean.

Great Ocean and beach views. VERY BUSY area of Beach, South end. LOUD Music from Speakers. Fish off Pier-Rent Poles etc.

By ccrook1974 |

Snacks sold on Pier. VERY LOUD music. LOTS of people visiting. Can fish off pier, rent poles etc. Areas to sit enjoy under shade or stand enjoy ocean/beach views. High Traffic area lots of restaurants, bars, beach shops etc.

Just a pier

By Anthony R |

Me and the kids visited the pier just for the experience. There was nothing special about the pier and it is not super long. It was a good way to burn about 15 minutes if you are just looking for something to do.

Just a pier

By Reina G |

Our thoughts were a pier with activity, the local area has some shops and eateries. Beach was inviting and there are beach umbrellas and chairs you may rent. Enjoyable walk through the area. Other locations are off the beaten path like restaurants and of course the lighthouse which is close by. It is. Short drive from Savannah and I would recommend it.

Great spot!

By Ditcha1 |

This is a great little hangout/ chillout spot for just watching the world go by.
The first large section has plenty of seats along with a few beach bars for drinks and snacks (note: they are cash only). The restrooms are also located here. It's under shade so a good hideout when the sun is intense.
There's then a wide boardwalk linking up to the end of the pier which is where the fishing takes place. This is also shaded but most seats and standing areas are taken up by people fishing. There's a shack here where you can rent any and all fishing gear incase you feel the urge for a spot of fishing.
All in all a great little place to hang out if you want to chill for an hour or two.

Tybee Pier - One & Done

By Jeramie |

Tybee Pier is very bland and average in my opinion. It has some dark history that was interesting to learn but as piers go, nothing sets it apart as a “Must See”.

Beautiful view of the beach and ocean.

By welltraveled_9 |

It was nice to be able to walk out onto the pier and enjoy the view of both the beach and the ocean. Walking out to the end provided some very good pictures.

Nice break from sunbathing.

By low-maintenance-57 |

I saw a picture of the pier on a tour guide book and it piqued my curiosity, It was interesting to watch the guys fishing. One guy actually caught a baby hammerhead shark! It had to be 3 - 4 feet long. The pier is located on Middle Beach. There is an outdoor shower as well as dressing rooms off to the side on the beach.

Very convenient!

By 825gmec |

We enjoyed lunch and drinks in the pavilion, which was super convenient to our place on the beach. There was plenty of seating, and everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. The pier offers wonderful views as it extends into the ocean. We didn't fish, but we enjoyed watching those who did.

Perfect spot for a day trip.

We went out to Tybee for a few hours during a stay in Savannah. We spent the day near the Pier. There were shops and restaurants near by and in the afternoon there was a bar on the pier that had great frozen drinks that you could take on the beach!

nice beach pier area

By jwmcrazynurse |

I have been to this pier many times over the years since I was a child with my family growing up, and I have been now with my children. This is still a decent pier area but Tybee has gone downhill over the years. We like St. Simons and other areas better. Bathrooms are nearby and typical beach bathrooms (meaning they are not perfect and spotless) good walking area that has good parking and close to other things to see and do and places to eat. Just like with any beach, the pier at a beach is always worth a stop even for a little while.

Parking is a nightmare

By atg0dfrey |

We rode around for about 45 minutes without finding a parking space. We even went to streets further out. It is a Saturday. I can understand busy - but clearly not enough parking. We eventually just left without seeing the pier or ocean.

If you decide to go, go early or hope you are lucky enough to find someone leaving a spot just as you come near it. One guy was standing in a spot holding it for someone he was talking to on the phone. It’s unfortunate that there is no one patrolling to stop holding on to parking spaces.

I will not come to this place again.

Love the shady pier

By S P |

This is a great pier especially for anyone who wants to see a great view and not be in full sun. If you have mobility issues no worries its very wide and has a ramp. It is also free. There is a shaded pavilion with picnic tables, music, snacks, and drinks.

Fishing a must

By todd c |

Our grandson loved watching people fish and catching sharks, he had to try he fished and caught 5 fish in a hour. Renting the gear on the pier was inexpensive and the guides there are very friendly.

Nice pier

By mxlpilot |

The pier is a neat place to visit. Watching people fish to getting a drink at the bar. Rest rooms, music and seating.

Huge, well-kept Pier

By soulsisters |

Tybee Pier was very nice. There was a covered area with picnic tables, a bar and restrooms. You walk further out the pier, to the end, and their is another covered area where there were lots of people fishing. It was fun talking with the fishermen and looking at their catch. Beautiful view at the end of the pier. Well worth the stroll out.

We waited at the pier for the ending of my husbands cross country bike ride!!!

By janaugherton |

Great place, you can fish, get a cold drink and food, or people watch. Restrooms are available. Parking in the area can be tricky. When it is really busy there won't be enough parking. The beach is beautiful and be sure to visit the Georgia Sea Turtle museum.

Nice little pier with drinks, food and music

By Carol G |

After walking the beach I was exhausted. I came up to the Pier and got a drink and listened to the music. It wasn't very crowded and was relaxing

Great atmosphere!

By Katie N |

Such a great atmosphere! The beach was clean and the pier had music playing. Very family friendly! They are very aware of marine life and the dunes are protected!

Never a bad idea

By nelsongassman |

Even if you are going to tybee late it’s still a great way to unwind after a long week, everyone wins

Nice pier

By Lori B |

Nice pier in good shape! Free to walk out onto. Has a covered area for shade. My daughter liked looking out into the ocean and watching people fish!

Has Potential

By JRSandlin1 |

I visited this new restaurant tonight with a group of friends. The staff from beginning to end were kind and that makes up for a lot : ). Being a new restaurant on a busy Saturday is a challenge even without virus issues. It has a very good location for visitors to the island, and many choices on the menu. The inside was a bit noisy for me. The plates are melamine....I prefer china. The food on a scale of 10: chicken marsala 8.5, garlic mashed potatos 8.5, green beans 8, chowder 6, fried shrimp 7, low country boil 8, strawberry pecan salad 9, red snapper 8.5. I will probably go try it again next year.

Great Pier!

By Suzann47 |

This is the best Pier ever! You can fish off of this pier. A large part of the pier is covered & you can get something to drink & eat. There are picnic table to sit at & look out at the ocean. We walked to the end of the pier & there are benches you can sit on. There is a restroom too. I really enjoyed this pier.

Very Well Kept

By Kelly |

Clean and nice area to view the beach. My parents are not beach people but this provided a nice shaded area to sit down and take in the view. A few places to grab food/drink and bathrooms were a bonus. I also liked the music playing.

Fun place!

By Terese B |

Nice place to visit at the beach. Music, refreshments and tons of photo ops! Would definitely go back.

Savannah Tybee

By Michael H |

Wonderful area to visit. So much going on in Savannah you can't do it all in 3 days. Tybee quiet and beautiful. So much history and great food experiences everywhere.

nice pier

By WilliamDeetz |

very nice pier, clean bath rooms, good food, a bar and music all in one central location. also has a long fishing pier. it is also right next door to the marine center. you may get lucky and see a turtle release

A free Pier to visit

By PhatPatW |

Best part is this pier is free as some around the country charge. Nice big area to eat or grab some ice cream. Lots of area at the end to fish.

Well built .

By Hershel B |

We walked out on the pier and visited with people fishing there. We observed several smallish Whiting being caught and one large Sting Ray. It was a pleasant hour. There is no charge to use the pier.

Dolphin viewing from end of pier

By 31HomeGames |

Tybee Pier is definitely worth a stroll to the end if you are on or walking along the beach. There are restrooms and a snack bar at the beach end. The pier is well maintained and stretches a fair way into the ocean. Thankfully there is no charge to access the pier (there is a fee for fishing). Nice views of the beach and ocean from the end of the pier. When looking out at the ocean at the very end of the pier, we saw quite a few dolphins swimming not far from our location. Quite a treat!

Nice Pier

By Rhonda M |

Very nice spacious Pier. Bathrooms, snack bar and places to sit. Be prepared to see woman scanty dressed though. I don't think this beach has a dress code.

Large pier with public restrooms & a bar

By Homeschool_Mom_Patti |

Fishermen line the end of the pier, but families and couples fill up the rest of it. There's an open bar where a cocktail costs $10 and 80's music blares out in all directions while you can view amazing sunsets over the island. The pubic restrooms are at the bottom of the stairs.

High Energy

By BonnieRN |

Lots of music, snacks, young crowd. Public restrooms located here. Close proximity to restaurants and souvenir shopping. Bach gear rentals close by also.

Favorite relaxing place

By IowaGirl@MO |

Walk along the Pier, watch people fish, buy some food and drinks, sit and listen to 60's & 70's music. Lay out in the sun at the water's edge and then return to the Pier to cool off and enjoy the ocean breezes. Perfect beach bum vacation!

Side trip

By Michelle N |

We didn't have plans to come here but Fort Pulaski was unexpectedly closed for the day. We had a great walk on the beach and look some pretty cool photos of the pier. Nice and relaxing. There are a lot of cute shops nearby. We picked up numerous things for gifts. The staff at each store were super friendly. Worth a day trip to visit out here.

Very nice pier.

By Lisa W |

One of the nicest piers that I have ever been on. Nice clean restrooms. No fee to walk out and even though it isn't very long it was great.

A fun central place to enjoy the beach

By Blair K |

Now, if it's in the height of the season, and you want a quiet beach, don't go here. This pier is centrally located on Tybee's south beach, close to many bars, restaurants, and gift shops, so there is usually a crowd, but... The pier has rest rooms, a nice little walk up bar, ice cream, and burgers and hot dogs, all right on the beach. The covered pavilion gives you a little break from the sun, and most of the time they have some nice music playing. A fun place to be for locals and visitors.

Lots of Fishing Going On

By gayle f |

Large pier which offers food/concession stands open during prime time season. Watched a few surfers and many people strolling along and also fishing.

Amazing views!

By K P |

Walking out the pier is an experience! You can watch people fishing, swimming, singing and waves! They are always having some type of event, and the Jazz festival was in full swing when we were there. I want to fish from this place next time, and I high recommend you visit.

big

By ctshopper |

nice pier, very large covered area with several picnic taples and places to eat. or watch people fish.

Free and well kept

By mykrtek |

I have been to a lot of piers and most charge for entry but this post was free and well maintained. They had shops and the bathroom was clean. The pair is clean and has benches and a pavilion. Very beautiful place

Active Pier

By luggageboston |

Lots of fun going on at the Pier - beautiful art work, large pavillion, food, drinks, music, contests, water murky green but lots of people on the beach.

Don’t go to this town.. all they want to do is give out ridiculous Citations

By gigigolf |

We drove through town and parked to walk our dog.. went on the beach about 100 yards and did not see a no pet sign.. it was raining and windy and I was given a $300 citation for the mistake .. all the citations are $300 in this town.. why because they want to treat tourists badly. Who ever heard of a $300 fine for taking your dog on the beach in the off season when no one is there?.. the town is a ripoff and not that nice anyway.. don’t go

Smells like beer and fish! Yuck!

By Rebecca G |

It was probably because we were here during the forth of July but it was so crowded. the bathrooms were nasty and the bar is kind of pricey. I love coming to the pier at night to get a drink and fish!

Reminds me of Myrtle Beach Pavillion

By dustmon |

Very nice spot to cool off from the sun and get a drink---milkshake, soda or frozen dacquiri, you can get your choice here---pizza, dogs and ice cream are also available---walk out to the end for a chat with the local fisherfolk.

A Must-See when on Tybee

By danipbt |

Beach was nice. Fairly clean. Pier is pretty. Bathrooms at pier need a little more attention. My girls enjoyed the beach, especially the seining that they did with the Marine Science Center for a Girl Scout Program.

nice pier with restrooms

By sc40sumthin |

nice pier with restrooms in the pavilion, nice walk for a great view of the beach and water and fishing if that's your thing, a cash only bar is also in the pavilion.

Tourist Trap

By Efi G |

Nothing much to see or do. Lot's of tourist traps and mediocre food. We rode our bikes there (the best part of the trip). The nearby beach was busy (seems nice).

Nice place

By Jmitchell9372 |

The end of the pier is for fishing. The beginning has music, tables, and a few vendors with food, snacks, beverages. It's covered so it's a nice place to take a break from the sun.

Grab a drink and people watch

By nanb820 |

Really nice pier with no charge to walk to the end with great views of the beach and ocean. Fishing from the pier is allowed is that is your thing. There is a large covered pavilion with restrooms and a snack stand; so, whether you want to grab a pina colada and people watch or grab a pole and find the catch of the day, this is a great place to be.

Pier Peace!

By Traveler |

We didn’t fish kind of got ran over by a tropical storm toward the end of our visit, but we very much enjoyed walking on it and grabbing a hotdog there ($3.00) cheap for a vacation destination and quite tasty too. It offered public restrooms which were very clean. Great place to start your trip.

Great fun at Tybee Island Pier

By Eileen915 |

We walked from the town hall down to the pier on the beach for the Mardi Gras celebration. It was a gorgeous walk along the water ending at Tybee Pier. We got drinks from the bar and sat for a while enjoying the music and the people watching before venturing out to find Mardi Gras festivities. A beautiful area with lots to do right off the pier area. Great time!

Living on "Tybee time"

By GirlTurtle |

The pier is beautiful for pictures. I liked the paintings on it and the hurricane stick at the bottom showing levels for cat 1-5. However, be aware that all of the businesses on the pier close early.

Loved this Pier

By rarmst8544 |

Tybee Pier is very large. There are places to eat and restrooms on the pier. The pier is a great place to fish. There is fishing tackle store at the end of the pier. The pier is free to go on.

Great place to get a simple, quick lunch and a cold beverage.

By wingnut614 |

Nothing fancy but who needs that when you are feet from the ocean. They have hamburgers and hotdogs cooked fresh. Their are soft drinks and a little tiki hut that serves adult beverages. 60-70's music played on their sound system. Easy and breezy.

The pier!

By RLLCG |

If u go to tybee u gotta go to the pier. The music in the background at the pavilion while the ocean breeze blows your hair and your looking out on the ocean must be done. The fishing is cool to watch and they are always catching sharks! Food is mediocre but frozen pinatas coladas are delicious. Go and take an hour visiting the pier.

Chilly January Day

By Jennifer J |

We stopped at the pier on a chilly and windy day in January. We had to pay to park. The parking meter would only take credit cards and charged you for a minimum of two hours so it ended up costing us $6 to walk out on the pier. The pier was well maintained but since it was January none of the food vendors were open. There is a maritime museum at the pier but it has an additional fee to tour the tanks. Overall I would say it would be worth revisiting in the warmer months.

Weekend Getaway

By Jackie C |

This was an amazing trip and the pier and beach side are incredible here, can't wait to go back! The Pier was nice there are a few tables under the pavilion and a few benches along the sides of the pier very nice atmosphere to just go sit and do some surf and people watching!

visit to pier

By pcwizardsonline |

the pier is a dock, nothing really special. you do get to see a lot of the locals on the beach and there is a bar. nice place to just go hang out. there are lots of really cool shops on the way to the pier as well as a bar on the pier itself. night visit is recommended or sunrise is really cool!

Walk to the water...without getting sand in your shoes.

By Michele P |

Nice place to take a short walk and watch the waves. You could grab a snack or refreshing drink. There were places to sit and eat as well as restrooms. Lots of people fishing off the end of the pier.

Over priced parking not great atmosphere

By Bear B |

Overall the people aren’t great around tybee. They are a bit rude and there seems to be a decent amount of crime. Parking is expensive and difficult to find. Not a recommended place for family vacations.

Amazing view!!

By Paula E |

Nice place to take pictures and view the sunset and sunrise!! You may also get lucky and see the fishermen catch baby sharks, but they do throw them back.

We we here in the off season, but it was still a nice walk to the end.

By YotaPower |

We visited in the off season so all the vendors were closed on the pier, but you could still venture out and see the sights. I can only imagine the hustle and bustle when it is in full swing. It gives us a good reason to come back.

Good pier but not much to see

By Edward O |

I suppose it would be a place to see but not much going on, I think it would be more active on the weekend.

Nice, but mostly for the Kids

By Tony B |

This was a nice pier, but we felt outta place because of our age. Lots of youth here, and there's nothing wrong with that, but we were more comfortable at North Beach- 3 miles away! The pavilion here is huge!

Great place to visit

By Jamie D |

The pier was clean and the people were friendly. There is live music during the summer. Take the time to drop by for a stroll. The music is usually around 7pm, but it varies. There is a sign near the bar with info.

Fishing and food

By ExploringontheRoad |

Busy place on the weekend in the afternoon. There are two docks. One has food, drinks, ice cream, and music. People were fishing from the one further out. You will need to pay to park or have a permit.

Relax

By mario v |

beautiful place to relax, the sand is mostly wet because the water can reach pretty far, it is amazing place to be when it gets foggy. The pier is great for fishing

Great place to walk, see the beach, etc.

By aronc67 |

Like the pier. Also there is a huge sitting area and a bar if you would like to get a drink. Fishing didn't seem to be as good as other areas, but great pier for walking.

Coolest pier I've ever been to - I've been to a lot of piers

By Dara K |

This pier has it all, bathrooms, places to grab a bite to eat and drink, sights, fishing. I've never seen a pier quite like it. I could spend all afternoon here.

Nice for Fishing plus Covered Pavilion for Group Events

By pjgorzsas |

Very nice pier for fishing with bait shop and rental equipment if you didn't bring your own. Pavilion has several food options plus a bar. A nice area with tables, that can be reserved for large groups. Very clean and well maintained.

Nice starting point for Tybee.

By SLeighanne |

Visited the pier while walking around downtown. Great views of the dunes and the ocean. You can also fish right off the end of the pier. There is a covered area at the start with a couple of little snack type shops and tons of picnic tables and a speaker playing music. Would be a good spot to get out of the sun and eat some lunch of you're on the beach for the day.

Nice views and convenience all in one

By Lori E |

A lovely pier. They have music, restrooms, concession stands and picnic tables. When you walk to the end of the pier there are several folks fishing. If you're lucky you can catch a view of dolphins swimming nearby.

Tybee Pier; one of the few things to do there

By lacepoint |

It's free; accessible by bike; adult beverages (bar) available, and restrooms too! Just watch-out for people fishing from the pier (hooks, sinkers, etc.)

Nice pier!

By huntjump |

Well built pier with lots of fisherman. Music at the base with a few quick food items and a bar. Great place to get out of the sun. They have lots of picnic tables if you wasn’t to picnic there.

Ok pier

By trayjr |

First time to tybee I really enjoy myself this the first Pier I have ever been on and they sell alcohol on the pier that was different it was a few folks out there fishing and it was a few just enjoying the breeze I must visit pier if your in town cant wait to go back

parking trap

By Kathy V |

we drove over to Tybee for just under one hour. stopped at the beach and a shop. ticket 55 dollars. there were no signs visible for the need to buy a parking pass. that should be on a large sign as you enter the island. will never go again . bad publicity for a place that looks like it needs people to visit. Nothing special and now a bad taste for ever returning.

Beautiful

By Stephanie D |

Came here for the week of the 4th of July. The pier has food, drinks, restrooms. Super crowded during the 4th of July celebrations, but we expected that. Beautiful views from the pier.

Neat pier during DAYLIGHT

By ambervause79 |

This pier is really nice. It has a picnic area and a couple little eating places, also has a bar but I wouldn't recommend trying it if you are within 20 minutes of closing time as the bartender was extremely rude. When walking out of the pavilion area towards the end of the pier where people fish the lighting is very poor. you can't look over and see the water because it's so dark. I would recommend visiting during daylight hours.

Beautiful view

By kkm68 |

Liked walking down the pier. Lots of people fishing here. Lots of seats, food available, restrooms also.

Beautiful Pier

By Moved2Texas |

I loved the Tybee Pier. It is a landmark for the Southern Tybee Beach area and a great place to walk out beyond the surf line. We did not fish, but would like to come back someday and give it a try. It is a great spot!

Tybee island is not worth the trip

By luvmy32000 |

If you look at my review history, you will see I am used to hanging out on carribean beached like Cancun or Cozumel. That being said, this place is for people who are desperate to see the beach apparently. The parking situation is ludicrous on Tybee island. I spent an hour driving around looking for parking. Overcharging hourly or daily, simply to make a buck. I finally shelled out $20.00 for an all day spot, when I was only going to be there for a couple of hours to look around. Keep in mind, I am from Texas, and you can still drive on the beach in Texas, camp for free, and park for free, etc. So this profit grab by the Tybee island city government is ridiculous.
It's a sham profit grab. IF you can go to other coastal areas on your visit to Savannah, go elsewhere, not Tybee Island. Stay away from this place.
