2 of 4 Best Attractions in Notre Dame

Stayed across the street at the Embassy Suites, since we had a great view we decided to wander over and get a better look at campus. Nice and clean campus.

Have visited Notre Dame many times the last being in Sept 2019. Many things to see and do especially the Stadium and Joyce Center, Pavillion, Main Administration Building, Ice Arena, The Library etc. and Notre Dame Book Store. Friendly staff to answer any and all questions one may have. Restaurants at the Morris Inn on Campus are also very good. Campus is second to none for beauty. Many activities on Football weekends to partake in also.

I truly enjoy walking a college campus! Like most of us, we didn't appreciate the history, art and architecture on the campus of the schools we attended, so now make it a point to visit and appreciate campuses that we encounter while traveling. Of course, Notre Dame is so well known that it is a must-see campus. We were there on a Saturday evening in June. So it was very quiet. And some buildings not open. But we were able to walk it from the main entrance through the middle of the campus and around the stadium. Loved seeing Touchdown Jesus and learning about the artist. The library was open so we were able to see a bit of it. Beautiful status of Fr. Hesburgh. And all the sports history in and around the stadium. Loved the peaceful gardens. All made for a wonderful couple of hours.

Attended Sunday Mass; a heavenly experience! Be sure to park in the lot near the stadium and take the time to walk through the quad to the church.

I visit ND annually, but most recently to attend a football game. For these events, the entire Notre Dame community comes alive and goes into overdrive. Fans, students, administration and employees are incredibly friendly, outgoing and want everyone to enjoy the event. This relatively small university turns into a small city when close to 100,000 come in for these weekends. People are genuinely proud of their university and it's history and want you to know that. Ushers even thank you for coming as you enter and leave the football stadium. Take the guided tour, it's well worth it. No charge, just 1 1/2 hours of your time. If it's open, tour the small museum in the wings of the Basilica. Also, the second floor of the Joyce Centre traces the history of athletics through the years. Home football games are a huge event, so finding accommodation can be a challenge. It's wise to start looking 6 months in advance and make sure you have cancellation coverage in case the tickets don't come through. (some places require full payment in advance, no refund, minimum 2 nights). Hotels in South Bend and Mishiwaka can potentially triple regular prices. Looking at outlying towns can reduce those costs dramatically and still make the ride to campus pretty easy via the toll road. If you go for football check on the "game day" itinerary because it can be non-stop go starting Friday morning. Also, check out other sporting events as well if available, not as many people but still exciting.

Always good to go back to revisit old haunts and discover new venues. Met 3 other alumni for the weekend and the football game. The campus continues to expand but the architecture remains faithful to the original buildings. Always best to visit in September or October while the weather is still mild.

Impressive looking campus. A bit too uniform looking (the brick) for my taste, but the buildings are lovely. The stadium is a sight to behold as well. Incredible! We went for a conference and the food we were served was very good. The risotto was super yummy. Clean bathrooms. Great facilities. We enjoyed our time on campus. There are very few visitor parking spots - at least where we were.

Fascinating campus. So much to see here. The buildings are unique and the campus is so clean. The chapel in the Basilica is a-must see. The architecture is astounding.

Beautiful university. Friendly people. Buildings are gorgeous and the grounds are so inviting. I recommend just laying in the grass and taking it all in!

Beautiful! We rented the “lime bikes” around South Bend and explored during our bike ride. Took a ride around the lake and stopped to see some of the pretty buildings!

What an enchanting atmosphere. Go on a tour! Worth your time. A walk around the campus and most especially around the lakes will show you what a special place this truly is.

Every season, yes, even winter, is a great time to walk the hallowed grounds of the University of Notre Dame. The winter white lawns are viewed from the cleared walk paths that are constantly maintained by the grounds crew with their motorized sweepers. In the Spring the lawns become green, the trees gain their new leaves, and many flowers bloom. Summer season shows off the well-manicured landscapes. And the beauty of Autumn is unsurpassed. There are so many must-see places. The Basilica is one of the most beautiful churches in the world. The Grotto behind the Basilica is a great place to light a candle, spend a moment or more to reflect, and a great background for a photo. The Administration building (under the Golden Dome) has many interesting and historical artifacts and paintings. As you are drawn to the center of the building to look at a book, don't forget to look up! Harry Potter fans are drawn to dine at the South Dining Hall. You must see it to understand. And take a tour of the football stadium where volunteer guides present an informative tour. Even if you are not much of a football fan you will come to realize why so many people are. Go Irish!

We took a leisurely around campus on a day when there were few students in attendance. What a peaceful and beautiful place to visit. The architecture is unique, the trees mature and stately, and the traditions deep through with every step youtake. Well worth a stop.

The campus is great. I don't know much about the University but I just heard is one of the bests, I went on a trip and used to go for a walk every afternoon, I visited the church, the stadium, the library and the lake.

Golden Dome, Basilica, Grotto, Stadium, Touchdown Jesus mural on the library, rub the nose of Knute Rockne in the Rockne Memorial, walk around the lakes. And this place is also a world-class university! If you are driving on the toll road, do yourself a favor and stop by.

What a tour we had. The bad news is that we had our tour during a total downpour of rain; however, our tour guide, Drew, was totally the perfect gentleman and gave us a wonderful tour with many stories about the buildings, statues, and grounds, and we have to give him huge kudos as he volunteered and pushed my husband in his wheelchair for the entire tour. That helped me out tremendously! He did such a fantastic job taking us thru the campus and buildings. We have been to Yale & Harvard which are also pretty, but Notre Dame is at the top of the list based on beauty and architecture. Highly recommend taking a tour here and also requesting Drew as your guide!

What a great and beautiful campus... This is our second time to visit the university since the National Competitions my kids participate on are held there during the summer. The university surroundings are clean, and landscape is very well maintained. The sports arena where we spend the most time is just gorgeous... how I would have love to play in that environment. The seats on the main basketball arena are very comfortable.
Walking around the campus brings a very welcoming feeling. The people have been very nice and quite hospitable--including the students. Highly recommend to passby by the "Touchdown Jesus", the Grotto with the Virgin Mary, and of course the Basilica of the Sacred Heart church... no words to describe how stunning the church is especially from the inside. it was definitely breath taking.
There are campus tours going on all the time, and I would suggest if time permits to sign in on one of these tours. With so much history the University has, I think it will definitely be worth your while.

We visited the university and were totally impressed with not just the architecture and grounds but especially the people. The video shown in the visitor center was great and followed up by a thorough tour by a friendly, well informed tour guide.

Went for the Bowling green game. The campus is breathtaking. The alumni, students and families generate an aura of fun, friendly with great values and morality. It exceeded my expectations and will always be a great memory. God Bless Notre Dame!

This is a beautiful campus and well worth your time to see. You can drive around the campus and you can park and walk. I recommend doing some of each. The lawns are beautifully landscaped and there are flowers everywhere. The buildings themselves are beautiful. I was amazed at the size of the campus and the number of buildings. Everyone was very courteous from the employees, volunteers and the students themselves. Everyone was willing to help you find what you were looking for. There is no cost at all to tour the campus.

Was visiting south bend for work and wanted to check out the campus. Very beautiful campus. Well manicured and clean. Looks like those tithings are being put to good work!

Wonderful campus, great staff to organize the tours (helen) and nice bookstore. A bit too much junk in the bookstore and a bit overpriced, but I guess that's the way it is.

I live Notre Dame a beautiful campus to walk around on a fall day. It is a lot of fun to Tailgate on a Saturday football game bring food and drinks before hand and enjoy have a fun day with friends before the game.

We are big fans of wandering around university campuses and Notre Dame's is beautiful. The grounds are nice for walking and be sure to see the Basilica and Golden Dome. Of course, Notre Dame is a storied and iconic football school, so check out the stadium.

Beautiful campus with a long history of tradition. Every building is beautiful! Great campus to take a nice walk around. Recommended places to stop while on tour is the grotto, the dome, the bookstore, and if you’re hungry check out the student cafeteria. Lots of different food to choose from ranging from make your own stir fry, salad bar, hamburger bar, etc. They also fashioned Hogwarts after the building!

My first time here and I spent a brief Hour just driving in, and walking around. This is a calming place to just enjoy a walk around the grounds especially in the evenings when student attendance is low. Beautiful campus

That trip was by far one of the best college trips I have ever taken! It is a beautiful campus with a variety of tradition. We went to the football game, but we also explored around the rest of campus and visited the Grotto, the Golden Dome (main building), and Touchdown Jesus. Everyone is very friendly to visitors and we felt comfortable. If you go during the winter, please make sure to pack an extra pair of shoes and thick clothing because it gets quite cold!

We stopped to visit the campus on a very quiet Saturday morning. It was early fall and the trees were beautiful.

We visited on an ordinary week day and took a student led tour, which was wonderful. Besides the skill of walking backwards the whole time, our guide impressed us with her knowledge and enthusiasm. Even if you have no connections to the university I highly recommend the tour.

The campus of the University of Notre Dame is one of the most beautiful campuses. When visiting, be sure to take a walk around the lakes, stop to light a candle at the grotto and visit both the administration building and the Basilica. When you're done, grab a bite to eat at Legends Restaurant. It's a great way to spend a day relaxing and rejuvinating!

Visited for the first time for a football game. Notre Dame has a lovely campus -- great architecture, friendly people, and very walkable. Enjoyed the Main Building, Basilica, and tree of life mural on the side of the library. Enjoyed experiencing gamely traditions including trumpets under the dome and buying a steak sandwich form the Knights of Columbus.

Beautiful even in the cold of February. One of the college campuses to visit any time of the year. Pedestrian campus is great so you do not have to dodge traffic. Food and coffee options are now available at multiple locations. Easy to get in touch with spiritual side with visit to grotto and the minor basilica.

Beautiful campus, but the basilica was locked up during the time frame we were there and several of the staff were unaware that it was not viewable when it was normally open....

In town for the Stanford game. Spent the day wondering campus, Eddy street area, tailgates, etc. we are here often and it always amazes me how everyone is so helpful and friendly. Lots of pride. We went through administration building, basilica, Joyce, grotto, watched band concert and the to the stadium for the game. I love that you can actually go through many buildings and see more then just parking lots on game day. Can’t wait to get back. GO IRISH!!🍀🍀

The second one arrives on Notre Dame's campus, one will be awed by the amazing gothic architecture that dot this extremely large university. While visiting during Covid, the university was quiet which allowed for a nice walk through the campus without the usual bustle of students that one would expect to see in late August. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, I was unable to visit the campus store or the stadium. However, this did not prevent the viewing of the most famous part of the University, the Word of Life mural (AKA Touchdown Jesus) which can be found on the wall of the Hesburgh Library. Overall a beautiful campus that should not be missed.

What an incredible campus. My wife and I were in the area and stopped for a visit. Walked the incredible grounds and saw all the attractions. What we were struck by was how friendly the students were. Had some great conversations with very kind students. There is something about that midwestern friendliness.
Definitely a different feel than some other major universities that we have visited. I can only imagine what the experience is of attending Notre Dame.
Well worth it to stop and walk the grounds. Even if you just need to stretch your legs. Might as well do it at Notre Dame

Our review is strictly as a tourist with no interest in the school itself academic wise. Find a legal parking space and walk this absolutely beautiful campus- everyone is friendly and happy to point out key spots. If you are an ND fan or aficionado, the campus has the best , largest, college book and fandomstore I’ve ever seen- a must stop if in the area

If you are in the Chicago area its only a one and a half hour drive to South Bend, well worth the drive. The grounds are impeccable, The Basilica is a must as is the Main Building. My husband's bucket list was to see Touchdown Jesus and it did not disappoint. I have never been to any American University I am so glad to say that Notre Dame was my first.

I attend grad school at a small university in Michigan and I stay close to Notre Dame’s campus. Grounds are beautiful. I can walk the campus. Go to library. Visit the Grotto. Only challenge is the Basilica is often closed. Love the bookstore.

This one of those things every sports fan needs to attend. Pep rally, walk the campus game day. Very special. Even if you're not a ND fan.

Took the free tour of the campus and what a wonderful and remarkable place. Historical place and obviously and outstanding place to get an education.

We were here for a football weekend so the campus was a zoo, but a fun time and very nice people, even to opposing fans. The uniformity of the buildings and the expanses of gardens is enjoyable.

Everything this school does is above and beyond exquisite.
Everything from the bookstore, to the stadium, to the stay at the Morris Inn, is top notch, and well worth the price.
When we arrived we were treated like family, and that is why this is a hidden gem. Top notch education, top notch treatment, deserves a top notch fee.
Well worth it....this place knows what service truly means and will make sure it is delivered. Which I could live here in Southbend. Keeping an eye out for any potential danger is the wonderful SBPD.
Southbend Police Department. Top notch professionals who really care.
Great job guys !!!
Mayor Pete needs you on watch.

previous visits to South Bend had not allowed time to see anything significant at Notre Dame; however, over a period of 2 - plus days I was able to see interiors of several buildings. So much great history there--academic and athletic.

My Dad and I were in town on business and had some extra time to walk around Campus. We were free to stroll around campus without being harrassed or asked for our student IDs (yes, this has happened on other campuses). It was cool to see the historical buildings, football stadium, statues, and just be in such a cool place.

Took the guided (free) tour on Friday before the football game. Very good tour. About 1.5 hours long. Very interesting, with student tour guides. Takes you to all the must see things on campus. Lots of walking, so if you have an issue with that, skip the tour.

Something free and beautiful to look at.To look at everything it would probally be best to arrive early. They have guided tours, but we did not check into this. The football field seemed heavily guarded so you probally want to check for details in advance if you want to see this.

We have toured numerous campuses, but Notre Dame was truly incredible. The entire campus feels very cohesive and well laid-out. The students all seem not just happy, but enthusiastic to be here and very proud of their school. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Their school values, ethics and school spirit were evident throughout. The almost endless list of programs and opportunities were unlike anything else we have see. It is obvious the school truly cares about the well-being, happiness and eventual success of every single student. Any student accepted here should consider themselves incredibly fortunate..

Wonderful place to wonder and admire the beautiful landscape and architecture of this sanctuary for academics. Wide, open and inviting atmosphere for a nice log walk around campus. Must see the Basilica, visitor center, dorms and library.

I had the honor to visit a friend in the area and visit the college. I learned a ton while visiting for 2 days - such as there is a minor named, Compassionate Care in Medicine. While it seems a bit redundant, we can all use a proven method for compassionate caregiving. Lovely campus filled with students eager to enhance life on this planet.

I have been to Notre Dame many times. My husband went to school here. The campus has changed over the years and the school has added numerous gorgeous brick buildings with slate roofs. The Grotto and lakes enhance the atmosphere. It’s very peaceful walking around. Lots of places for people to hang out. Many places to eat on campus. The Morris Inn has been redone and is lovely. The cemetery is a cool place to visit. The stadium is redone and amazing. Check it out. Go ☘️ Irish!

What a beautiful campus to explore - all ages
If in the area please go and visit , so much to see and do
From basketball , 🏆 trophy display, court, football arena, the Golden dome ...and of Course Touch Down Jesus !

The beauty and tradition that surrounds this school is the best in the Midwest. It reminds me of an Ivy league school but in northern Indiana. The Catholic ideals are still driving this University and they have done much to protect tradition and keep up with modern technological advances. Nice job ND.

We live near the University of Notre Dame and it's one of the most beautiful campuses around. There are many beautiful buildings, both old and new); a huge library, and the most breathtaking church, Basilica of Sacred Heart, and the Grotto of Our Lady Lourdes. In addition, they have an awesome football stadium, baseball stadium, and ice skating stadium for hockey. They have the BEST football tailgating parties too!!! Come visit!

We were just tourists in So Bend but wanted to see ND. It is an amazing campus and the Basilica is not to be missed. The architecture is uniform and impressive, the landscaping is serene and obviously carefully designed and the sports facilities on campus will blow your mind. It was a very relaxing and accessible campus.

There are so many spots where you will want to take pictures. The people are so friendly. One of the highlights of my life. Soak it all in.

History and architecture are abundant here. The grotto is a must see. You might even get goosebumps if you're a sports fan.

The grounds throughout the University were much like a manicured estate. The Basilica was world class, lucky are those students who have the opportunity to spend four years at this magnificent college. My wife and I have toured many of the nation's foremost colleges, Prinston, Harvard, UC Berkeley, University of Virginia just to name a few. We both thought this University was the most appealing of them all. We spent about one hour in the college museum. Also, a must see if you are an art fan, they have some very nice pieces. A sculpture by Remington, a painting by Georga Okeefe, and John Singer Sargent, plus the Mexican painter, Siqueiros. Great way to spend the day. The grounds are full of little surprises, lots of statues throughout, small intimate gardens, fountains, and breathtaking architecture. If I were in town, I would not miss the chance to take a tour of Notre Dame University.

We were catching the Lake Shore Limited to New York, and had six hours to spare - we were recommended to visit the university and it was well worthwhile. Free tours are available, led by a student, lasting about an hour and a half. These give a good flavour of the university and certainly give an excellent chance to appreciate its buildings and facilities

This is a beautiful place with lots of traditional architecture and green space. It has to be a great location for students.

Though we were there to attend a wedding, we took the opportunity to walk around the campus since we stayed at the Morris Inn located within the campus. We saw the touchdown Jesus that is on the wall facing their stadium. Beautiful mosaic work, different stones from different states of the USA. Also saw the large Moses sculpture in front of the library. Lots of areas for walking amongst the greenery, trees and hibiscus flowers.

The history and beauty of this campus is breathtaking!! It is very moving, especially on a game day.

Always wanted to tour the campus. We so enjoyed the time walking around. We had downloaded the app and it was so rich with information. We missed the chapel as they were preparing for a wedding, but enjoyed the hallowed halls we did get to see. Of course do not miss the bookstore!! So much to see and buy there.

Love strolling the beautiful campus in the Fall. Bought some necessities at the bookstore, overall a great experience.

Such a stunning campus. Visited numerous time of the year. All seasons are beautiful. Especially peaceful in the snow.

Went on the campus tour. Gabby was our tour guide. Very informative great must see tour. Building daing back to 1860. Beautiful lake, chapel breathtaking.

A wonderful campus to take a walk, see, and read about the rich long history of the school. This campus is a must see!

Walking around the beautiful campus was great! (Our daughter graduated from ND, so we have been there often.) The main hall with the golden statue of Mary on top is lovely inside with beautiful paintings. On football game days Trumpets under the Dome (the trumpet corps plays inside) to beautiful echoes is FANTATIC. The Basilica is also really beautiful inside. Touchdown Jesus on the library wall is famous and visible from the football stadium. The campus grounds are beautifully manicured. The architecture of the buildings is amazing. One of the great universities of the United States.

The Notre Dame campus is awesome! Toured most of the day , had football tickets.
The people were very friendly and welcoming.
The cathedral, grotto, chapel and touchdown Jesus are amazing!
If you can visit Notre Dame!!

Even those who don't plan to attend this university will enjoy a visit. We stopped at the information center and asked for recommendations on what to see, picked up and map and set off. The campus is beautiful, everyone we encountered was friendly and we enjoyed our visit.

Wonderful time visiting campus. This is our second visit but first for football. Lucked out getting good seats for Sat. Game

You have to visit this legendary place...at least once. I did the Football Stadium Tour and it was so cool to see all the nostalgic stuff.

I love visiting ND! This is truly a beautiful campus. From the grotto to the basilica. The golden dome to the stadium. The quads to the bookstore. Beautiful statues, nature, historic gothic buildings. Visit on a Fall day for a game and you will never want to leave. Everyone is so nice and helpful. If yes, don't forget about Touchdown Jesus!! See you again next year.

I visited here as a prospective student in 2005 and came back to watch my favorite club, Liverpool FC play a friendly. We took a stroll through the beautiful campus late at night. Well kept, historic, and safe grounds. Thanks for hosting ND!

The start of THE BEST OF OUR LIFES was here. OUR WEDDING DAY. Go back most every Sunday. What a great blessing. Soon to be a year.

Anna, our tour guide, was terrific. She was a senior and very knowledgable about the school, its history, and its folklore. The campus was exceptionally clean and beautifully landscaped. The tour of the Basilica of Sacred Heart was the highlight of the visit.

We were in the area and decided to take the walking tour, so glad we did. The campus is beautiful and full of history. The Basilica is the highlight of the tour.

Go see the Basilica - it’s really special. A walk around the campus is a real treat too. Beautiful peaceful space.

We stayed four nights at the University of Notre Dame while attending a professional conference. The campus grounds are immaculately manicured: beautiful lawns, trees, shrubs, lawns. Buildings mostly of brick and limestone with slate roofs; very stately. The campus has 2 golf courses, 2 well kept and interesting cemeteries, a first class art museum, and more. One of the finest campus I have ever visited.

Notre Dame is absolutely amazing. The grounds are well kept and you really have to see the beautiful buildings!

Being an avid Notre Dame football fan, I try to come to South Bend football games as well as in the off-season. My fiance and I were traveling across the northern part of the United States took a right turn to get to South Bend where we stay two nights in the Airbnb. Was quite hot during the month of August, but we ended up visiting to the bookstore which is quite extensive. They were still working on of the stadium, and I'm not sure I really like the addition because I'm a old-timer in terms of what they had in the past. The local area was very nice. Some great airbnb's in the general area, and some very good restaurants. Getting back to the campus, it's always beautiful as always something going on there. A definite stop if you're traveling through the state of Indiana. You won't be disappointed. Pick up a Notre Dame football game, and for the most part you can always get tickets for reasonable prices just before the game starts.

Awesome university. Great old buildings beautiful cathedral. The boathouse for the rowing team right on the river. Dorms and the library. Beautiful campus and easy for students to get around.

As we were in the area we decided to drive through the campus to see the "famous" University of Notre Dame. The bookstore is huge and well stocked with "Irish paraphernalia". Be sure to wear your walking shoes as there are some buildings only accessible by foot. The only free parking is near the bookstore as the other lots require payment or parking passes. It was a beautiful campus and well worth a drive through if you are in the area.

I went for a three day conference which was quite intensive so didn`t get too much chance to explore. But I was impressed with the spaciousness and tidiness of this campus.

There is so much to see here and we went to the Winter Classic Hockey game on day one so we saw the stadium which was immaculate and a great place for any event. The Campus Buildings, statues and athletic facilities are also just spectacular to see. Havent loaded all the pictures on my computer yet but we too a lot. great place to visit

Beside the 80,000 plus football stadium, the campus is very walkable. Lots of tradition and history at the Catholic founded University. Only 90 miles east from Chicago, the winter time is cold.

My daughter. Her friends & I took our own self lead tour. The grounds are beautiful and each building has it's own uniqueness. Lots of art, stain glass windows, trees, statues, beautiful architecture of each building. Even a place called the Grotto where you can light a candle & a prayer for someone. It's also a great place to meditate, relax, & or reflect. Very quiet & peaceful. When college is getting out or going back into session, you can sit back & watch all the hustle & bustle. Lots of great things, along with sports occur here. Over all a nice walk around with the sunshine on our face. Nice experience. I understand you can get a tour, we just chose to tour all the buildings & property ourselves. Well worth the visit, at least once, especially with young people. Oh happy day. 😊😊

Giant campus with breathtaking architecture. So much to see and do with bikes available almost everywhere. Many open food shops available for a quick bite. Bring an umbrella for rain, very little cover to hide under.

Beautiful place to spend an hour or two to stretch your legs on the trip through South Bend. I recommend a walk on campus or a run around the lakes. Restaurants nearby are pretty standard, and predictable fare (it is a college campus after all).

What a gorgeous college campus! The plants, the flowers, the buildings and the grotto are all so beautifully laid out. It has a peaceful feel to the whole area. The campus is very clean, and it looks like you took a trip back in time. Stunning!

The buildings are pretty. The people are friendly. It's very walkable and very pretty. We stopped in the visitors center. They gave us a map and pointed out the "must sees." We spent a lovely day exploring.

What a beautiful campus. The setting is like no college campus that I have been to before. Parking is at a premium but can be found on large lots near the football stadium. The Parking fee is paid on line and is nominal. Football weekends come with lots of perks. Bag pipe bands, Drum corps, glee club and much more. The Basilica is magnificent. The grotto comforting. The layout is easy to navigate and very walkable. If you do get tired a courtesy cart and its friendly driver is always available. Friendly volunteers in there green jackets are stationed all around campus to get you going in the right direction. It a must do experience if you're in the area.

We visited Notre Dame Campus in April, 2018 and found the campus to be just amazing, from the buildings and the grounds to the Basilica and the Grotto and the Stadium were just wonderful. We stayed at the Morris Inn which is right on Campus and the location made getting around very easy as most everything we wanted to see was within walking distance of the Hotel. I would recommend visiting this great Campus and staying at the Morris

What is there to say? It is Notre Dame and it is Impressive! The grounds are beautiful and the people are lovely. Spent the entire day on this campus and thought it was just amazing.

Hard to believe that a university campus could blow your mind, but Notre Dame did just that.
Even if you are not Catholic, you will be amazed at the architecture and grounds.
If you are Catholic, you will be awestruck by the grotto and the basilica.
Simply stunning.
Highly recommended.

My senior high school daughter and I have been on MANY college tours and have never been so moved as when we were on campus at Notre Dame. Notre Dame is a place where our Catholic hearts felt at home! A beautiful campus and friendly students. Our first evening we happened on the grotto where a rosary service was being held. It was a miniature of Lourdes grotto that we had been to in France in 2013. We said the rosary with a small group and I couldn’t help but feel this is were my daughter needs to be! The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is impressive and has mass daily. We laughed when we saw a sign “no confessions on football Saturdays” because football is a big here. Beyond the spiritual impact there is a genuine sense of community and sincerity. I hope to be back as a future Domer parent!

First off I tell you that visiting ND has been on my bucket list for a very long time. I was almost afraid it wouldn't live up to my expectations. I was wrong because it exceeded them. It's a beautiful campus with a rich and storied history and many WOW sights to take in. My friend and I took the free campus tour (with only 3 others) which was led by a student well versed in the history and traditions of ND...can't beat an Insiders knowledge and better than just a self guided walk around. Since school wasn't in session there was no hustle and bustle as we ambled along. Got to see inside the Golden Dome and Basilica and visited The Grotto and Touchdown Jesus up close. I highly recommend visiting ND if you're a fan or just in the area. I can't imagine a prospective student visiting and NOT wanting to enroll. GO IRISH!!!

What a beautiful campus this is. In addition, there are multiple special arrangements where a group or couple can recieve accompanied visits to art, historical artifacts, and archaelogical displatys. Of course, Notre Dames athletic venues are first class and eclectic.

My wife and I spent several hours wandering the campus. It was beautiful. The security, ushers, were more than helpful. We had an enlightening trip

I have been going to Notre Dame football weekends for the past 35 years. Each time I arrive I am more taken in by the beauty of the campus. There is so much to see and do. On Friday evenings my wife and I walk to the grotto of Our Lady of Lords. After some time for personal reflection we go on to the main bookstore to check out the new merchandise. We finish by attending the football pep rally and having dinner at Legend's a restaurant on campus.
Saturday afternoon we attend the outdoor band concert before the game. About 45 minutes before kickoff we follow along with the band as it marches to the stadium. After enjoying the football game we attend Mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart before heading off to dinner. There are also many other activities to attend and see. A football weekend at Notre Dame is very exciting. It is something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. That being said after you go once you will want to come back again.

If you are a college football fan, you have to visit this place. Touchdown Jesus was bigger than I expected. The folks on the campus are extremely friendly. The gold Dome is beautiful as is the whole campus. You will be taking a lot of pictures!

Drove through campus at night and loved the quiet beauty of the area. Paths were well-lit and views of the Old Done were lovely.

Was on campus for daughter's lacrosse game. Campus is beautiful to walk around and see. If you have time, took us about an hour to see most of the campus.

A beautiful campus, worth taking the time to walk. It looks like what you expect a college to look like. The walk from the Basilica to the main entrance is a good quick walk.

It is a very friendly and clean campus. There is a Starbucks and McAllister's right across from the hockey arena.

My husband and I visited the campus after the students left for the summer. An AMAZING campus down to the smallest detail. Went into Basilica of Sacred Heart, Breath taking to say the least. The weather, minimal traffic and campus beauty made for an excellent trip. We aren't ND fans, but still worth a visit and so we are glad we.did.

My first time on campus and football game and the experience was pretty good. Yes, it was balmy and rainy however this did not seem to dampen the spirits of the students and the fans. Plenty of parking (varies from $25 - $45) around campus and the local police seem to be pretty active in assisting with traffic flow. Beautiful campus and all the staff there was really nice. The stadium was clean and the concession was a lot cheaper than I thought (ok, $3 for a cup of coffee). We ate at The Huddle where there's a Taco Bell, Subway, and Smash Burger and the price is not so bad. If you don't want to pay the stadium concession price, eat at one of the student centers open to the public. They will check bags before you enter the stadium (expected) so if you're visiting there for the first time go on their website.

It’s all beautiful. We just did a little loop around the picturesque campus. We walked through the Quad, tulips everywhere, saw the iconic Golden Dome, the remarkable Basilica of the Sacred Heart, lit a candle and said a prayer at the serene Grotto, walked by Hesburgh Library with the Touchdown Jesus mural, the beautifully renovated Notre Dame Stadium and of course stopped at the Hammes Bookstore.

Take your time and walk around. Go to the bookstore, the admin building, the Basilica, the library, the Grotto, the ACC building, Trumpets in the Dome, the Ice area and the Stadium if you come for ND game day. Walk to Eddy Commons for a bite to eat or check out that bookstore. The entire University is beautiful. You can walk around the lake and feed the ducks(bring bread). Beautiful day spend on the campus.

What an experience, driving and walking around you could spend a couple of days here and not seeing everything I stayed at St Mary’s Inn so it was close by but there is a Fairfield Inn here also you. You park or walk I did a little bit of both ( 2 hour time limit on some parking spots). Remember to hit the quaint little shops on 1234 Eddy Street and a great place to grab a bite to eat. Visit the stadium and enjoy it all

An absolute beautiful walk. We went in July and the campus was quite. We walked the area and took in all the beautiful architecture.

Great great campus. Everything is so clean and easy to get around. So many things to do. You can eat in the student halls with the students for a small fee. The food is good and different things to eat. You can visit the cathedral, bookstore( a must), the huge which has all the trophies, the ice hockey arena, and many many more attractions. A great experience to see it all.

We are here for a week for National Baton and Drum Corps competition. The campus is beautiful with a lot of green space to set our chairs to watch practice. The grounds are well maintained. With the campus being the home of the fighting Irish, you can see all things Irish. Up and down the tunnels and hallways are signs and statues of Irish. And many photo spots. We have plans to see the grotto and Basilica later this week.

We drove thru the campus just looking at it. It is a nice large campus which is easy to get around. I'm sure it would be a lot prettier in the summer instead of winter.

We had an overnight stay in South Bend and decided to stroll through the campus. We were both gobsmacked by the beauty of the buildings and the architecture. Even the trees and bushes seemed to be planted with great care to show off colors and textures. We absolutely loved walking for two hours around the empty campus on a late May day.
Sadly, the basilica was closed to visitors. Maybe next time.

What an amazingly beautiful campus! We drove around both ways and saw most of the campus and it was so nice. Must see the Basilica and Grotto. Super nice and helpful kids everywhere!

I recently had an evening with nothing to do while in South Bend, so I visited the university campus. It was a beautiful place with a nice balance of green space and buildings. All the buildings were beautifully coordinated in color and style and the grounds were impeccably kept. It is not hard to see many of the famous sites with very little walking. You can drive from site to site and park nearby and walk a short distance to see what you want. That is important to me because I have a hard time walking great distances. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to kill and hour or two while in South Bend.

It's a must see and do experience to walk the Notre Dame campus when in South bend. The lawns are picture perfect green and coifed to perfection, there are numerous statues to take pics with, fountains and a wonderful walkway to talk you along the buildings. Don't miss Touchdown Jesus, the Basilica, the Golden Dome and Notre Dame Bookstore/Gift shop for specialty items you can't find anywhere else.

The guide was knowledgeable in all aspects of the tour. She was able to answer most questions. The tour highlighted the main points. The grotto, basilica of the sacred heart, main building (golden dome), and Hesburgh Library (touchdown Jesus). It took around 2 hours. Check in at Eck Visitors Center.

It took some time to find the right parking area to gain access to the University grounds close to the Cathedral and pond but it was worth the walk.

What a truly beautiful campus. Every direction is filled with beautiful architecture and amazing sculptures. It was an amazing time just to visit this special place.

A beautiful serine setting, nice and quiet. A great place to think and pray.
A lot of prayers have been answered here. So much to see when coming to the grotto.

The University of Notre Dame is a magical place!
Places and things to do/see.
The Grotto, The Basilca of the Sacred Heart (make sure to attend Sunday Mass), Notre Dame Stadium, Pep Rally, Legends Pub, Hamnes Bookstore

and the stadium is "a cathedral to college football". We thoroughly enjoyed wandering this gorgeous campus. I wish I had arranged a tour but we were too pressed for time to do so.

Beautiful well-maintained campus with gothic-esque architecture and mature landscaping. My family enjoyed admiring the buildings as we walked around. A nice break on a road trip not far from the interstate.

This is the cleanest college campus I have ever seen. The landscaping, buildings, and the friendly students are what makes this place magical. It is large and has many places to explore. Be prepared for a long walk if you want to explore everything.

Beautiful buildings, exquisitely maintained areas, huge campus. Went in mid-winter so it was very cold...

While volunteering at the US Seniors Open golf tournament, we had the opportunity to walk around the campus (without having to worry about vehicular traffic). Such a beautiful campus with many areas of interest, such as the Golden Dome, the Basilica, the Grotto, the Hesburgh library, the art gallery, and the list goes on and on. The students that were on campus during the summer were enjoyable and informative.

Enjoy the campus and all the activity. The lakes and grotto is a must for first timers.
Summers are park like and great place to exercise, beach to swim and great for pets.
Fall is awesome with the football season and the buzz of game day

We visited at a time when the campus was really closed and many buildings including the basilica were not open...check the times closely!

Campus was beautiful! Spent about an hour on self guided walking tour. Everything is close together and landscape is very well kept! And even for an Auburn tiger enjoyed it very much!

Just walking the campus on a fall day and the beauty of the buildings makes this a special place. Old and new buildings blend so well everything the University does is well thought out. The Eddy Street Commons phase 2 is linking the University to down town South Bend.

What more can you say, the history, the campus, the education, the prestige. So happy to be able to visit often!

The University of Notre Dame founded in 1842 is a private Catholic research university. It's buildings include the Golden Dome, Sacred Heart Basilica, the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Word of Life mosaic mural, and Notre Dame Stadium where it's famous football team plays.
The university is organized into seven schools and colleges: Arts & Letters, Science, Engineering, Business, plus Schools of Law, Architecture and Global Affairs. Visitor paid parking is on site albeit some way from the main buildings. The grounds are lovely and enjoyable to walk around. Worth a visit.

We spent a short time at Notre Dame and left with a sense of its beauty and peace. We saw the stadium, the auditorium and "touchdown Jesus".

What a lovely campus this university has! There is a lovely lake to walk around and some really gorgeous buildings and basilicas to explore. It's a delightful way to pass an afternoon in a tranquil setting!

Notre Dame has to be one of the most beautiful Universities in the World. I am not religious, but the history and the architecture are astounding. The athletic facilities are incredible, with the exception of the pool, which is more than adequate. The ratios for the teacher to student are great for any University and excellent for the cost of this one. Hopefully, my son chooses Notre Dame so we can become Fighting Irish.

My first trip to the University of Notre Dame was simply breathtaking and majestic! A beautiful campus.

There are so many gems on the ND campus that it would be easy to miss so many of them, but here are a few of my favorite things:
1. The ND Band!
2. Basilica of the Sacred Heart / Including visiting the Priceless Museum
3. The Grotto
4. Hesburgh Library Touchdown Jesus Mural
5. The Beautiful Golden Dome/Main Building
6. The Football Stadium
I have been coming to ND for a long time since my older brother went to Notre Dame and also was in the band. The family would come over, spend the weekend enjoying all of the sights, sounds, and enjoyment from this beautiful campus then attending the Saturday football game. My very best memories are of spending time on this campus and another reason for such great interest in the NDU band.
I was here September 8, 2018 for the ND / Ball State football game which turned out to be a real nail biter, but ND did make it for the win. GO IRISH!!
30 minutes after the game, there is a vigil mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Whether you are a Catholic or not, the service is so beautiful and worth an hour of your time and all are welcomed to attend.
The day starts early with parking in the Library area with tailgating which is a definite tradition in the ND parking lots. We are there early enough to get to see the Band head off to practice at 9:00am from the Band Building which is close to our parking. The Band knows how to get the adrenaline moving! We always end up taking a walking tour of the campus.
On the tour we head to the Main Building with the Golden Dome which houses the administration offices. Going into the main building and looking up into the Golden Dome is a “heavenly” experience for sure. It is a Do Not Miss experience. Pictures do not do it justice whatsoever.
The main building is next to the Basilica which we visit as there are some wonderful surprises to be found within. In the Basilica itself along the sides of the main altar are various Saints’ relics. This area is available to walk through and take photos. Be sure to look at the beautiful mosaic windows and the ceiling of the Basilica. The west side of the Basilica houses an amazing museum which is also a “do not miss” with many priceless items of interest throughout the years of Notre Dame. The museum is only open for a few hours before a home game on Saturday, so don’t let this gem pass you by.
Heading west from the Basilica and down the steps is the beautiful Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes which is a lovely and serene area to light a candle, touch an original stone from Lourdes, or just sit on the benches provided. If we have time, we often take a walk along the lake or have gone to the log cabin chapel.
The time flies by and at 2:00 pm the Band performs the Concert on the Steps at Bond Hall. They play their half-time songs and also get the crowd totally pumped up for the coming game. Forty-five minutes later the Band Steps Off from the Main Building giving the cheering crowd an amazing ND experience on the way to the ND Stadium. Whether you are an ND fan or not, you will not want to miss this experience.
The south side of the Hesburgh Library has the Touchdown Jesus mural that is often photographed.
The Notre Dame web site always gives times and places for the game day schedule.
All in all, the experience of being on this campus whether on a game day or otherwise is one that everyone should experience. The game day enthusiasm can’t be beat!
Note: Depending on whether your state has Daylight Savings Time or not, you will want to check on what time it is at Notre Dame University.
GO IRISH.......

Comparing this magnificent facility to Disneyland is not done out of respect. It is truly a fabulous place and the reference to Disney is done to reflect the perfection you see everywhere with nothing out of place. The buildings all reflect the same architecture and are all in perfect condition, the grounds are all magnificently landscaped, and there are "ambassadors" everywhere to make your visit memorable.

“Those who know Notre Dame, no explanation’s necessary. Those who don’t, no explanation will suffice"

If your in South Bend Indiana or any where near, this is a must stop. The campus covers almost 1200 acres. Some of the buildings date back to the beginning of the University. The Basilica is a must see. Trying to describe it would never do it justice. The hand painted ceiling is magnificent. The new organ is huge but unfortunately we did not get to hear it. The Main Building is another must see place. Looking up at the rotunda is another ceiling mural. But to get the full experience of Notre Dame, take a guided tour of the campus. Our tour guide, though just finishing her freshman year, was a wealth of knowledge. Minor detail she is the fourth person in her family to attend the University. Tours start from the Visitor center which near the Book store in the Eck center.

We toured the campus before the football game and what a great time we all had. Probably the best looking campus we have seen with a ton of history.

We were able to walk around a bit before a football game. Lots to see and the campus is fairly spread out. It was spitting rain and cold so we didn't get to see as much as we wanted to. The dorms all have grills out front on game day. they cook and sell food to support their activities. We went into the basketball arena to warm up and watched while the court was changed from basketball to volleyball. Complete new court laid on top.

This is a beautiful campus to visit whether you’re going to a game, headed to mass in the basilica, or visiting a family member or friend who attends the university. ND has the physical charm of an older New England college with the flat landscape of the Midwest. Popular spots on campus for visitors include the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, and Notre Dame Stadium. School pride seemed to be especially strong when I visited – so many students were sporting ND hoodies and other gear. The atmosphere is fun, inviting, and community oriented. If you have a chance to see ND, do it.

Coming from a beautiful campus myself, I was prepared to be disappointed by Notre Dame. However, the architecture, grounds, and maintenance combine to make the ND campus a gem worth seeing and, if one is of the correct age, attending.

Went to football game and tour the campus of Notre Dame!
What an experience, family enjoyed touring the stadium and campus, everyone was so very nice!!!
All the things to do around the campus was so much fun!!!
The Campus was unbelievable!!!!!
Book store is amazing!!!!

A definite must for amazing views of the campus. We took a tour while on vacay and was pleasantly pleased. Lots of walking, dress comfortably.

Wanted to take a campus tour, simple enough.
Weather was cold, damp and quite uncomfortable. It was winter.
We were told we had to park in the visitor lot (you have to pay for) which was quite a ways away from where the daily tours begin. There were various signs about NOT PARKING in areas close to the visitor center.
We were not looking to get our vehicle towed while on the ND campus or cause any issue.
As seniors we refused to walk that far, both ways, just to tour the campus. No way.
There were plenty of empty spots in the bookstore parking lot but we were led to believe that was not for short term visitors like us.

We spent the Friday before a Notre Dame game exploring the campus. First we stopped by the stadium where they had the stadium open. Fans could come in, walk down the tunnel, and see the field. There were many ushers who were more than happy to talk with you and take your picture. We even got to hold a helmet and see the championship banners! We then saw Touchdown Jesus and went to the Guglielmino Athletic Complex where we saw all of the awards, trophies, statues, weight room, etc. It was very neat that it was all free and open to fans! We then just casually walked around and explored the beautiful University including the Grotto and the Basilica. The whole area was well maintained and just gorgeous! We had a great day!

Beautiful campus! You have to walk the campus - driving will not show you the entire campus. We took the college tour - did not get to see inside the dorms or the classrooms which was disappointing. But overall loved the campus. The grotto was under construction. If you stay at the Inn at Saint Mary’s there is a nice walking path to the main campus.

Didn’t get a tour, just walked about the campus for 90 minutes or so. Fascinating place that is a temple to the American sports experience. Impressive facilities. And some neat other buildings too that seem connected to learning. Worth a walk about

There is something very special and welcoming about this place no matter what time of year it is. It feels like home!

Amazing campus and buildings. Highly recommend for family in the weekend. We really enjoyed our visit and had a lot of fun

My son loves visiting Notre Dame. We frequent this location for football and other sports. It is also good for walking around and site seeing, which is free if you are looking for a family activity to do without spending money. You also can learn a lot of the local history walking around campus.

The tours are throughout the day and take you through on on the field of one of the most iconic and newly redone football stadiums in college football. This is a place that Knute built and the history and notable names on the plaques are the best of the best. The campus that you see from the top of the stadium will make you want to see more so don't hesitate to visit the amazing campus.

A long time coming but got to experience the Irish way! The campus was beautiful and many new structures enlarged the campus. Must do .. Notre Dame game....game day is unbelievable. The rituals date back over 130 years....and so worth following. Make sure to take it all in....

I have followed Notre Dame football for many years and we were going to be in the area so I wanted to visit the stadium and see where "Rudy" had managed and played.
We arrived on campus and found our way to the visitor center.
We found a young man behind a desk inside the center and told him we would like to see the Basilica, the grotto, and the stadium. He map out a self guided waking tour for us that included those three locations as well as a few others including "Touchdown Jesus". The campus is one of cleanest and most beautiful campus' we have visited.. We ended our visit with lunch at The Legend.

The Notre Dame Campus is beautiful with its old buildings, lush trees and foliage and of course “the golden dome” with Our Lady on top. It reeks of tradition, spirituality and great football!

What a beautiful campus. Drive around and see the buildings, all constructed like the original buildings so you cannot tell if they are new. Park and visit the Grotto, Basilica and Main Hall.

I love this place with a burning passion. I come here twice a year in the hopes of one day going to college here, but in the mean time taking in the fun, angelic, holy atmosphere. The Church, the Golden Dome, the stadium, the Grotto, and everything else are awesome.
Tip: if on game day you need to find a restroom, there are some in the Joyce Center, and some in the Golden Dome building.

Great visit. You can book a tour especially if you have a group. I’m not usually into these types of sightseeing things but this was beyond impressive.

Beautiful campus. The grandeur of the golden dome as you look down the road. The touchdown Jesus mural is impressive on the largest library. Just a beautiful campus.

The Notre Dame campus is electric on game weekends. Whether or not you are a fan it is an experience you will not forget. There are tons of activities but my favorite of them all was the Run Club. For $15 there was a guided campus tour, Einstein’s Bagels, and a dated personalized Under Armor shirt. It was the best deal I have ever seen in running. All levels of runners were accommodated.

A great mix of the old and new. The architecture is captivating. Sorin’s restaurant is great. Must see the basilica.

The weather was perfect, great for walking and learning the history of this legend of education. Probably one of the most beautiful campus i have visited.

We stopped here on a non-football Saturday in early October. We were with a group and had a guide take us around campus. It was a beautiful day and there were a couple weddings in the chapel, so we could not go inside, but the history and architecture of this historic campus makes a stop here time well spent.

The campus has a lot of famous spots. It’s a nice place to walk around and get some photos. Currently a lot of construction, which made it hard to find a few spots. Go during school breaks to park wherever you want (okay per security guard).

Literally stunning. The campus is so cohesive and beautiful I can't get over it. And all the students are so happy. Check out the grotto, basilica, Golden Dome, and touchdown Jesus.

The school has so much history from the education these student get, to the Tradition that follows in the school grounds and the care of the school. The prayer that goes from the Church to the staduim. A well done job in keeping all the 3 alive. I went to go get my bucket list done. The most i can say is do research due to GPS will get you lost. The Vibe thought the campus is awesome. When walking though the areas pay attention cause you can get lost.. The Morris Inn is on campus so game day that would be the perfect place to stay, cause parking alone for a game can cost about 50 to 30 depending on the distance.

great game and experience for our family. Book store was vacant vs football weekends and parking was great!!!

We had a couple of hours to wander around, duck in and out of some buildings, and just enjoy an absolutely gorgeous campus. With students returning, there was action everywhere. Parking rules were suspended so we drove right to the heart of campus. We love the university atmosphere and have visited most of the major ones in the US. This was among the finest. Somehow we managed to visit the gift shop and walk out empty-handed.

The tour guide was very informative and knew a lot of the ND history. He was very nice and answered all our questions. The tour was about 90 minutes.

The campus is almost 175 years old.
This is very big and famous university with various courses. There are so many students from all over the world.
There is big stadium and huge library with ultramodern facilities. Really wonderful library and campus.
One could feel pain in legs as it is difficult to walk so much.

if you're a Fighting Irish fan or maybe just a college football fan, this is a must see location. from the stadium to "Downtown" Jesus to the "Golden dome" this place is loaded with history that many of us have only read about.

We enjoyed walking around taking photos. In May the trees are in bloom and temperatures are pleasant.

Would recommend a walk around the lake and around the gardens. Beware of students and let them go on with their busy lives.

I was here for four days, but even if you can only stop in for an hour, DO IT! Lovely campus with beautiful paths, buildings, trees and statues. And I’m certain it is amazing during any season. Hammes Book Store is loaded with souvenirs, T-shirts and just about anything with the ND logo.

We just walked around late one afternoon on our own. Such a beautiful campus! We had access to all sites (except the stadium) and could spend whatever time we wanted. The following morning, we returned for a free student guided walking tour. I'm so glad we did! The tour gave us so many insights into the history & traditions of the campus. The cathedral is an absolutely jaw dropping experience (even for this Protestant). We're not Notre Dame sports fans, but we found our visit to be totally worth it!! If you are in the area, don't miss it! Check the internet for the walking tours address which gets you free parking close to the starting point.

What an impressive university with manicured lawns and all the facilities. A place of learning with a history. A lot of old trees and this old university is well known. It was founder in1842 and has an old traditions, a famous football team and stadium.

We started out in the large bookstore with everything Notre Dame. A great place to get a souvenir. We wandered around the campus to the football stadium and were able to go out onto the field. We also went into the basketball arena and inside the beautiful Basilica of the Sacred Heart. We visited with a few students and felt very welcome. This is a beautiful campus with large grassy areas and beautiful architecture. Well worth a visit if you are in South Bend.

We visit at least once a year for a football game. My favorite time of the weekend is the Friday evenings on campus. It is so serene. People are about and students walking around, but the overall experience is uplifting. Some stunning views: Touchdown Jesus, The Dome, the Basilica, the Grotto and the bookstore. The student union does have a Starbucks, and a few fast food pubs. We have walked the path by the lake and enjoyed drinks at the Morris Inn on the University campus.

We attended my niece’s graduation a couple of days ago. Despite the rainstorm and the relocation of the main ceremony we did get to attend the Bachelor of Arts and letters ceremony.
Beautiful arena setting and the campus is absolutely a must see! The cathedral is amazing as well as grotto which is serene.
Visit this campus!

The campus is gorgeous. It is very well laid out. The buildings are all stone. My son is thinking of going to Notre Dame. He has 3 years to make that decision!

Planned on a walking tour, but it was pouring rain. What we could see from the car was beautiful. We would have like to go into the cathedral, but couldn't find a place to park.

Once you get past the fact that the only visitor lots are either A) 2 miles from the center of campus or B) have 20 spaces, visiting iconic and famous Notre Dame is a real treat. The grounds are a beautiful and quiet place to stroll, we particularly enjoyed seeing the admissions building and touchdown Jesus. The bookstore should really be named a blingstore, since books take up about 10% of the floor and Irish memorabilia takes up the other 90%. Prices quite reasonable. We found it a very pleasant mid-trip stop to stretch our legs.

Drove from Grand Rapids to check out the bookstore. It was huge! Everything for a student, alumnus, fan, or just a curious visitor like me. The bookstore is housed in a huge, beautiful building by itself, I was amazed that the entire building was just for the bookstore.
Two stories of stuff for all price points and all tastes, from basic mugs to jewelry. The selection astounded me!

In my series of travels I ended up in South Bend for a relatives graduation from the University of Notre Dame. With some time to kill, I took a stroll around campus. I found the old, brick structured buildings blended well with newer construction projects. The stadium was fairly bland but Touchdown Jesus was impressive. The campus has gorgeous scenery and plenty of green space to relax in. There is lots of parking but be careful as certain lots are for certain groups. Across the street there is plenty of places to eat, grab a beer, etc. Lastly, there are legit dozens of places to get a room near campus though I stayed in Elkhart.

The Notre Dame campus is the most beautiful college campus in the country. There are no streets or roads, just magnificent buildings and carefully landscaped and maintained grounds.

This was a multi benefit weekend:
- My wife returning home, who was born & raised in South Bend.
- The magnificent campus to walk around, with the lakes.
- Seeing the "Golden Dome", the administration building.
- On "Football Friday" you can get a reservation to walk down the tunnel where the
players enter. And you get access to the end zone.
- The game day is full with the band, and the players' walk to the stadium.
- Go to the game in one of the most historical stadiums.
- We sat in section 1, over the tunnel, and next to the Student Section. It was great
seeing the team enter the field below us. The students almost never sit during the
game. Then after the game, the team comes to the Student Section, and joins
singing the Alma Mater.
- Then dinner at Tippecanoe Place, the former home of the Studebaker Automobile
family. A magnificent stone house, with fabulous wood paneling inside.

One of the most amazing college campus in the US. They have so many beautiful
Buildings that look a lot a like. They have a lake, golf course, sports and so much more and they have an amazing traditions as well.

There is not much I can say, it’s Notre Dame. Campus is spectacular ! Tons of tradition and history to see .

If you ever have a chance to visit Notre Dame in South Bend Indiana, I would recommend it highly. The campus is absolutely gorgeous. The buildings are beautiful. The students give to worse and they are very knowledgeable about all aspects of the campus. Worth your while!

A last minute side trip to the university was a life moment.
Wow.
You have to see it up close and personal to appreciate its history and beauty.
I’ve been to other nice campuses before, but this one is truly a serene and beautiful place.
You can feel the presence in the grotto.
And the rest of the campus.
If you’re ever in South Bend and have the time, go see this place.

We stopped here on a trip from NJ to Evanston and decided to use the facilities in South Bend. Notre Dame is a world unto itself. The stadium is huge and there are countless practice fields. The architecture is interesting. We stopped into the book store, which rivaled an upscale hotel lobby. You can buy anything and everything with a ND on it, including a fooseball table or a Swavorski crystal studded football helmet.

Such a beautiful and peaceful campus. A visit to the Grotto is a must, I only wish that I could have gone into the Basilica, there was a wedding going on at the time of my visit.

As a fan of the opposition, we were concerned our trip would be miserable. Quite the opposite. South Bend was exactly what I hoped for in a Fall football experience

Both our daughters attend this spectacular university. We couldn’t be happier. Notre Dame is truly special!

The excitement is palpable on a Notre Dame football weekend! celebrations start on the Friday night before a game. Checking the Nd.edu website ahead of your arrival will let you know what’s happening on campus. Many free events and food options for fans and families are available. The university has gone out of its way to provide all gameday Saturdays include options for those who don’t have tickets to the game. Close in parking for tailgates require an expensive and difficult to find parking pass, especially for important games.People without tickets to the game can wander off campus to eddy street to watch at one of the pubs showing the game and have dinner there.
merchandise is available to purchase at venues around the stadium so you don’t have to go to the bookstore on campus which has long lines.

Beautiful campus!! We stopped as we were just passing thru. The architecture and landscaping is gorgeous. But be aware, when they tell you that to visit you can park in the bookstore lot for one hour, they aren’t messing around! We saw a parking attendant going thru and chalking tires.

A beautiful day exploring fantastic architecture. Everyone was so polite and friendly, esp. parking lot attendant at bookstore. Definitely recommend for all ages.

So beautiful it’s hard to put into words. The sense of community was very strong there. The Golden Dome with Mary at the top magnificent. If the dome was to fall straight down Mary would land in the arms of her son Jesus statue. Amazing place. The Basilica and the grotto gave you a peaceful feeling. The marching band practicing on a late Monday night was also so nice to hear. We will be back.

if you want to encounter the most egotistical, rude, mindset of entitlement people on the planet...... visit Notre Dame. the mentality of these people - mainly the students themselves, is just downright disgusting.

Notre Dame is to be experienced, writing about it can not convey what it is like. There is an expression that says "there is magic in the name" and once you walk on campus you too will feel that magic. It it hard to describe.
If you are visiting, I would recommend"
1. The Grotto. Regardless of your religious background, it is truly amazing in today's secular world to see young students kneeling in pray - whether at 6:00 am or at midnight. This is an area of quiet mediation and beauty.
2. The Basilica. The largest collection of French stain glass outside of France. It is a very beautiful church. There are very knowledgeable and helpful ushers on hand at all times to give you some of the history and background of the church.
3. The Quad. Wonder, old, tall trees and walkways with students traversing the campus.
4. The House the Rockne built. The stadium if you are a football fan.
5. Snite Museum. If you have one to two hours to spend here, this art museum is highly recommended.
Our family toured more than twenty college campuses during the hunt for that right college for our daughter. We saw many impressive schools but once we stepped on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, we all knew that this was the one. It may sound silly but there is a certain 'magic' that strikes into your very soul - at least for us. This place is special.

ND is a great place to visit. Particular April-October. It’s a beautiful campus. Great architecture. Entertainment and sports options abound. Food options are mostly fast food and pub type
Food. Cocktails at Morris Inn is a good
Idea. Overall great place to visit.

Unless you have a heart of stone you cannot help but be moved by this stunning campus. The spirit is EVERYWHERE. Highlights-Game day: the Grotto, Player walk, Trumpets, fans, the stadium walk, the fans.

Beautiful fund raising event with traditional Latino music and entertainment. Dinner served was a seafood paella and flan. Venue is new and inviting!

Campus is absolutely breathtaking! I grew up near here and had the chance to visit during home football games at least once a year. Everything about the campus is not only beautiful but has so much history behind it. Football tailgating is like a huge family reunion, everyone there is so kind even if you just met them five minutes ago. So much fun and worth the trip.

We visited the campus for the first time before a game. It was a beautiful, sprawling campus and had some special sites to see. We visited the Grotto where there’s a statue of the Virgin Mary overlooking a sanctuary of votive candles. Then, we went to an area where the bagpipers performed before the game. It was a beautiful, warm day and we enjoyed the pregame experience!

Enjoyed an extraordinary weekend at Notre Dame for the USC game in October. The amenities on campus were terrific and the upgrades to the stadium we're spectacular. Hope to return soon.

We were here for a hockey tournament and had a great time. Toured the campus and enjoyed every minute we were here. Will return again in the future.

One of the nicest college campuses there is. Beautifully landscaped, beautiful architecture, lots to see, nice people.

Even after having been on campus a number of times, it is still impressive. The atmosphere on a game weekend is something else all together. A bucket list item for any College football fan.

I have wanted to visit this particular college campus since I was a young child. I was finally able to walk and soak in the history and beauty of the campus this last weekend. My dreams were not an illusion to the actual beauty of the campus.
Take the time to stop by!

It was our first visit to Notre Dame. Was able to drive around a lot on Sunday but was told that the rest of the week the campus was closed to most car traffic. This makes it a bit difficult for folks with movement issues. However, we were able to visit Purcell Pavilion and actually stand on the basketball court. We are HUGE college basketball fans so this was a bucket list check. Overall, the campus is beautiful and is definitely worth seeing.

What's not to love about Notre Dame? If you're lucky enough to visit on a football weekend, you'll be immersed in all sorts of activities from concerts, to tailgating, to trumpet under the dome, to stadium tours. It's alive and buzzing. But even on a week day, when students are doing their thing, it's still a beautiful place to visit. And use one of the Lime Green bikes to ride all around. Best way to see the campus, in my opinion.

Well worth the trip. Beautiful grounds and architectures! We loved the cathedral and the fountain and lake!

Regardless of your religious preference, Norte Dame is a beautiful campus. The buildings and landscaping are pristine. Even the squirrels and wildlife are gorgeous. See the football stadium and the basilica. If your in South Bend you have to at least go take a few pictures and learn a little bit of Irish history.

Beautiful campus with beautiful architecture and buildings. I took a quite drive-thru down Notre Dame Blvd and was impressed with the architecture and how all of the buildings whether new or old all fit in with the "same look and feel". You can stop at the end of the drive and get a great view of the "golden dome" on the administration building. There were some public parking places where you can park and walk around, but I did not have time for that.

This campus is beautiful! We spent several hours here and enjoyed it. The Basilica was beautiful and we attended mass. The grotto was under construction but very nice. Could not get into the football stadium unfortunately. Worth a stop for sure. Be aware that it is not a very drivable campus, you will park and walk which is hard on some.

free tour of the grounds which are very impressive and contain numerous buildings of interest. useful if you are thinking of attending or for general interest

The views around campus are simply breathtaking! The bookstore is fully stocked with apparel and anything else you could possibly think of. Go visit anything on campus and be prepared to be wowed. They are true to the original architecture when adding to their campus. All the buildings match and until you step inside, it is hard to destinguish between brand new and old or original buildings.

A very nice place where to spend part of holiday or to visit for work.
Great campus in a green area, with many services and locations to visit, like sport facilities, stadium, bookstore, cathedral, lakes, etc.
Good to breath this healthy air.

Just take a quick stroll and you can see why people love this place. We find something new every time we visit

Beautiful campus and amazing architecture. There is a self guided tour app that you can follow on your phone. Easily walkable to most parts of campus. The student book store is huge and well stocked. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful.

The people were so nice and helpful. We went there the day before the USC versus Notre Dame game and what an experience! The campus tour was excellent and our guide, Sydney, was very knowledgeable. The night of the game it was so easy to get in and get to our seats.

Recently attended the Pitt football game with 3 friends. We walked the campus and visited the bookstore on Friday afternoon and again on Saturday. The experience was great. Campus was clean, people were friendly and things were well-marked.

This University is unlike any other place! People are so helpful and friendly. Sacred Heart Basilica and the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes are not be missed. These are the spiritual heart of the campus. The campus is like small town and includes the famous Notre Dame bookstore where all kinds of memorabilia can be purchased.

The buildings are so beautiful! We only had a small amount of time there (maybe one half hour to an hour) but what we saw we admired. We could have stayed and walked around for much more time.

So now I know Just how beautiful the campus of Notre Dame is there in South Bend Indiana we were lucky enough to be able to drive around the campus and also tour the sports complex. Got to see touchdown Jesus in person. What a lovely campus recommend a tour.

Whether it's casual, attending a sporting event, or just in the area...you can't help bit getting your adrenalin flowing with the history oozing from this campus! Check out the extensive Hammes Notre Dame bookstore for any souvenirs as well. Highly recommend...ENJOY!

A beautiful campus that we were glad we visited. We have family who attend ND and / or are alum and easily understood why they love it so.

We had so much fun, waiting for the unveiling of the new t-shirt. The stage was set up with the Irish step dancers, choir and speakers. Fun event with friendly fans. This is the most beautiful University. New construction, but we hold on to the "old" feel.

It only took us a couple of hours to walk around the campus. The main building was beautiful. The Basilica next door was locked but nice from outside. Drop by the outdoor grotto to light a candle for a loved one. And of course the stadium is an impressive size.

We were heading to Shipshewana, Indiana, and decided to spend a couple of days in South Bend, Indiana to see what was there, including the University of Notre Dame. We took a tour from the alumni association on campus, and they sent us with a student. She was very good and informed us about the lifestyle and many other things about Notre Dame. They don't require any money for the tour, but it is very nice to tip the students when you finish.

While visiting South Bend, we decided to check on a free tour of the Notre Dame campus. Anyone can check in for a tour (call or check the campus website for tour days) about 30 minutes prior. Our tour left from the Eck Visitor Center and parking was easy, even on the day before a football game. Our guide was a senior student from Brazil, who deftly led our group of about 25 to all the highlights of the campus. We started with a film in the Eck Center, attached to the bookstore. We walked past dorms and buildings, the Grotti, lakes, the Basilica, the Touchdown Jesus mural, and were permitted through the tunnel to the football stadium. Big you are a football fan, you will enjoy it--even as OSU Buckeye fans, we did!

A return trip brought memories of how beautiful maintained this campus is. The lawns perfectly manicured, the tour guide well versed in the history, the atmosphere very special for students and visitors alike.

Beautiful campus, just like I thought it would be. Very helpful tour student guide who was knowledgeable and friendly. Food at the Duncan student union is so good and offers GF substitutions for breads and pizza. We traveled with our small dog and enjoyed walking around the campus.

The campus has a certain air about it…beautiful, nothing out of place and yet teaming with activity. I think they call that Pride. Students, alum and the families who surround them know how special this place is. Def worth a visit

The entire trip was great. Got to see the stadium, field, campus, cathedral, golden dome, etc. All of the staff at the campus couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. they have carts to help get around the huge campus, and the drivers strive to help everyone they can with a ride. Our visit couldn't have been better. And "The Irish" won! Bonus!

Just toured with my daughter. Of the 20+ colleges we have visited this year, ND was the friendliest, most encouraging campus by far. The tour groups are small. The guides know and love their school. Simply an amazing day.

Stopped by on way to Indiana Dunes just to see Notre Dame in person. One of the most beautiful campuses I've ever visited.

The Grotto, Sacred Heart Basilica, the stadium, Legends restaurant to the immediate south of the stadium, the Morris Inn and Sorin's restaurant are all a must go to. The Hammes Bookstore is also worth the visit.

I love visiting this campus. It will suprise you on the small campus feel it gives out. Gamedays are awesome. We even visit sometimes just to go to the bookstore
it is huge. a two story building that you must visit. As a notre dame fan you will get chills walking around.

Notre Dame football fans are wonderful and welcoming! I was cheering for the Boilermakers but that didn’t matter. Beautiful campus and wonderful tradition and pageantry leading up to the game. Fun to watch the student section too. I liked it so much I wouldn’t even be upset if my daughter wants to apply there! Great time.

Every year we get tickets to at least one football game. My husband is a Law school graduate from ND.
We love going to see the campus grow and change, but the spirit of Notre Dame remains.

I ran from my hotel all the way to Notre Dame and it was a such a nice quick run inside the campus. Unfortunately this was the only moment I had to go there and didn’t do the whole tour. Definitely a must!

Such a beautiful campus. Virtually everyone greets you "Welcome to Notre Dame". Some of the oldest and richest traditions in education and sports, a must see

I have been a ND fan since my Dad took me to see Knute Rockne All American, and now I have married into a ND family, my wife graduated from St. Marys her son and daughter-in- law from ND, her brother from ND, 3 cousins and their offsprings, and now we have a Granddaughter entering her Sr. Year at our Lady's School, and the one time great football coach Frank Leahy refered to ND, was with them in the glory years of the 40's the downfall of the 50's the upswing of the 60's etc. I attended the ND vs Miami in 1988 called the greatest game ever played at ND stadium.

Just had to include a campus tour on our visit to take in a Notre Dame/Navy Football game. What a great experience! So much history and legacy of the school and the campus. Don't miss it if you have the opportunity.

ND greets its guests warmly! Golf carts zipping around taking friends and alumni anywhere they want to go ! Special opening of the tunnel , go on the field, see the new ARA helmets , tap “play like a champion today “ it was great ! So fun to reunite with roommates and friends !

The campus is well laid out and picturesque. We were there on a non-football weekend so it was low key. Very pretty and well maintained. Students were friendly.

Classes are hard but people are cool. Einstein bagels delivers, which makes me happy. I wish there was a chick-fil-a. SDH has mints!!!

We came for a campus tour and we were very impressed with Notre Dame.
The campus is very easy to navigate and our tour guide took us all over the campus from the Basilica and Grotto to the Football Stadium. We spent over an hour with her and got a lot of cool insights into student life at Notre Dame. We also found it was a Holy Cross school.
At the football stadium entrance, there was a gate for each class level from Freshmen to Grad Students (the center gate). I thought that was unique not having seen anything like this during our other tours.
A number of the buildings were modern on the inside and we saw lots of students hanging out studying. Since the weather was in the thirties that day the only time we saw students walking around outside was during the class breaks. I understood from our guide that when the weather warmed up (was unusually cold this April) that the students have lots to do including activities on the nearby lake.
Food wise the Student Center had a nice variety to choose from the new Smash Burger, Subway and Starbucks to an on-site convenience store. Other places were scattered throughout the campus.
Overall we spent about three hours here touring the campus, the Basilica and Grotto.
One last item to note. We were trying to find the main visitor parking but ended up entering the East gate and got directed to the nearby Grace Lot. We got a pass stuck to the car’s windshield and was able to park for free! Normally visitor parking costs a few dollars.

Having visited many college campuses as an undergrad and now the parent of two undergrads - I must say, this is one of the prettiest campuses in the U.S. Beautifully landscaped, well maintained, very walk-able, extremely friendly - loved everything about our weekend visit - including the UGA Bulldogs win!! Thank you South Bend and ND for your mid-West hospitality!

The campus is stunning, the tour to see and hear how the university will reveal how it is beautiful on the inside as well. Even in the rain I would recommend the tour

This is one of the most enjoyable campus settings I've ever had the privilege of spending time on and I'd highly recommend visiting. Highlights included staying at the Morris Inn, having dinner at the Legends of Notre Dame, visiting the Basilica of the Sacred Heart (the church), the Grotto and of course seeing "Touchdown Jesus". I also found the Cancer Survivors Tree which is powerful if you or a loved one are a cancer survivor too. A beautiful campus with wonderful staff and students who all make you feel welcome.

We went to the University to see the chapel that was locked. The rest of the place that we saw was very nice. The central grounds are beautiful and well kept.

We visiting campus while attending a football game and I fell in love. There was a dusting of snow in the midst of yellow leaves on the ground. Beautiful, classic, alive. Wonderful campus.

The Notre Dame campus is the most beautiful place in South Bend by architecture and natural setting. Definitely go there for at least 30 min visit (you can freely enter most of the buildings); plenty of free parking. Now, there are several restaurants on the property including new eateries in a modern Duncan student center.

Gorgeous campus. Great place to walk around and take in the sights and history. Was there before classes began and was super quiet. Which was nice.

If you are fortunate enough to visit this beautiful campus, sign up for the free 1.5 hour campus tour. Tours are led by students which provides perspective on campus life. Campus is breathtaking. Tours start at the Eck center by the campus bookstore. You start by watching a short film about the history of Notre Dame. The Student guide takes you on a walk around campus where you see campus buildings including the Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Touchdown Jesus and view the stadium from the outside. Our guide was Anna from Brazil and she was an excellent guide. If you want to see the stadium you need to go to a game or sign up for a stadium tour. A beautiful campus to visit!

An incredible college campus - designed for maximum success by the students! Visited the library, stadium and had an event on campus that gave us a great feel of the community. Wow, wow, wow

I wanted to stop at Notre Dame to see the football stadium and "Touchdown Jesus". I didn't expect to be captivated by the whole place! What a beautiful campus, complete with a pond with swans. I got lost a couple times and people were openly happy to help, happy to show off their school. The Basilica is sacred, as is the cave like grotto. The Bookstore is impressive as well! And TDJ is larger than I imagined and just fantastic in real life.

The exceptional original architecture blended with recent additions give this campus a level of charm & impressive effect.

There used to be a great retreat house on the grounds where friends and I would go yearly. It is no longer open but the grounds of this university are a must see.

Very well manicured campus adorned with plenty of green and flowers and with giant quads of buildings at its core.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! My aunt was alumni so we have always LOVED NOTRE DAME but the campus is more than a campus ! It’s a spiritual experience , a nature walk , a zoo of wonderful animals and a botanist ‘s dream ! They offer tours and I want to thank Ms Jackson and Ms Carly for making our tour fantastic ! These young people and a University that encourages service to underserved is where you should put your money ! Invest in these kids !!!

Such a gorgeous campus and historic buildings. Enjoy a beautiful day of walking, learning and experiencing culture and history. Faculty, staff and students are so friendly and helpful. Be sure to pick up a souvenir!

We took the 10:00 AM tour at the University
Luckily for us our tour guide was Julia.
She was excellent!
She was conversant with all the facts about the beautiful campus and related them in a easy to listen fashion.
The campus is a thing to behold as is the traditions that have evolved over the years.
A overall wonderful experience!

My alma mater-- still the best college experience in the world. Best 4 years of my life. Campus still most beautiful ever. Clean and vibrant

Spent 3-days at Notre Dame at a conference. The staff here is outstanding and the McKenna conference center was a perfect spot to conduct the meetings. We were lucky enough to receive a private tour of the stadium and the staff conducting the tour was awesome. What a great place, it just is so powering. Grounds are perfect and we stayed at St. Mary’s hotel which was close by.

We had a walk around the grounds it was pleasant. Very quiet for summer break so plenty of freedom to wander about. Enjoyed seeing the squirrels and even a cardinal.

6th time here and it never gets old. Beautiful campus with an energy like no other. The blue and gold scrimmage in the spring is a must see too! Spring colors are breathtaking. Make a point to walk around the lake and see the grotto. The golden dome with the bagpipes and the player walk are all a necessity to witness. Stay until the game is over to watch the team sing. The ONLY place to sit is behind the student section! Best show all night!

We were fortunate enough to go to the ND campus for a football game. The school spirit is obvious and you feel caught up in it. Be sure to visit the golden Dome, the grotto and the library with “Touchdown Jesus”. The campus is expanding exponentially since our son graduated there in 2010.

Notre Dame has a long and interesting history that visit reveals. Take a tour of the Basilica and learn about the founding of the University by French priests. Discover how it became associated with “Fighting Irish”. See the contributions to the world and the country by its many alumni and professors.
Stroll the campus and go to the library to see the mural of Jesus. Visit the Grotto.
Go by the football stadium for tour or a quick peek. And stop by the Notre Dame bookstore for gifts and souvenirs.
It’s worth a visit. I was indifferent regarding Notre Dame until I toured and learned about their history, traditions and values. Now, I have the utmost respect for ND!

We went to visit Notre Dame as a college visit. The campus is beautiful and flat. There is so much history in the origins of the school. Be sure to see if you can get a guided tour of the school. The book store also has many books describing some of the history.

Yeah, my kid goes here so I'm a teensy bit biased......but if you venture around,
I'd highly recommend taking a self tour of the basilica. Gorgeous art and a lot of history
within those walls, and you can ask the docent any questions you may have!
We always end up staying and enjoying the simple peace it offers.

We wanted to visit the Notre Dame campus to see some of the Architecture. We were not disappointed. Between the golden dome and the Basilica we were really impressed with the beauty. The thing that is really nice about this campus is that every where you want to stop there is supporting parking space. We parked in the Grotto lot and got to see the main areas we planned. Great campus that is well kept.

Father in law 1955, wife 1982, daughter 2019. Wow pretty good for Canadians graduating from ND. Walking the campus there is an amazing experience that shows off 175 of learning. Also who knew Dulake and Prince Farquad from the Shrek movie were named as one of the writers was an ND grad. If you can eve fit in a tail gater and a football game it is a bucket list experience for you and 120,000 close friends before the game.

This campus is just so beautiful and the history of it is amazing. So much too see, Even if you are not a Notre Dame fan you should visit this campus if you are in the area. We are very glad that we did.

Went here solely for a football game and it was one of the best run sporting events we have been to. Helpful folks with maps and a list of events were everywhere. Golf carts cruised around asking visitors if they needed info or just a ride across campus. Had a Chicago dog at the Eck visitors center where they also had free coffee! Beautiful campus with great staff!

A walk around the Notre Dame campus is a must. Absolutely beautiful, especially at dusk. Has to be the nicest college campus ever

Brought the kids here as part of the Vision Program. It was impressive visiting the campus. It becomes more impressive if you are religious or a fan of college football and take the tour.

We had briefly visited Notre Dame last year but I wanted to see some other sites on campus. Glad we did.
It's a beautiful campus with lots to see. It is very well maintained.
Souvenirs are plentiful but expensive.

We made a quick stop in South Bend to see the campus. It is absolutely stunning! Highlights included the Golden Dome, the Basilica, the Grotto and Touchdown Jesus. Don’t miss this stop!

Don’t drive through South Bend and not stop at Notre Dame. This is a historic and beautiful campus. Rich in sports history and private college tradition.

We were passing through the area and were hoping for a stadium tour. The tours didn’t start until noon. Since we wouldn’t be in the area long enough/on that timeframe, I inquired if there was any possibility for an exception to pop in briefly to see the stadium then leave. This was not allowed. Asked several staff. Disappointing. We checked out the rest of the campus, still worth the quick visit.

Enjoyed 2 wondeful dinners at recommended restaurants. Your suggestions were great. Thank you.The campus is beautiful.

I confess I'm slightly biased having gone to school here and now having children who attend the University. However, I also have some insights into making your visit the the Notre Dame campus special. Although football weekends are an experience, if you really want to see the campus at it's best, visit on a non football weekend when classes are in session ideally in the late summer/fall or spring. I would make sure to take a student guided tour to get a general overview of the campus. Not to be missed-walk through the Main Quad("God Quad") with views of the Golden Dome and residence halls which hasn't changed in appearance since the days of Knute Rockne. Visit the Grotto, a recreation of Lourdes, and take a walk around St Mary's Lake for amazing views. Go into the Basilica and try to attend Mass if able. Walk across South Quad and grab lunch in the historic South Dining Hall(some of the best food you will find on a college campus). Take photos in front of Touchdown Jesus. Visit the Gug football facility to see the trophy case including 7 Heismans. Try to schedule a tour of Notre Dame stadium. See the new Duncan Student Center attached to the stadium. Visit the Sports Heritage Hall in the Joyce Center. Don't miss the University Bookstore for shopping and souvenirs. Visit the cemetery and find the grave of Rockne. Depending on the time of year try to watch other sporting events such as ice hockey in Compton, basketball in the Purcell Pavilion or soccer at Alumni Stadium or Lacrosse at Arlotta Stadium. If here at night, watch a performance in Washington Hall or DeBartolo.

The Notre Dame campus has lots of green and amazing buildings and especially the Miain building with the Golden Dome.
Stop in the store for Notre Dame merchandise is a must, as is visiting the stadium that is bigger than most proffesional stadiums.
Basilica of the Sacred Heart is another good visit.

Was working in South Bend-stayed across the street at the Embassy Suites so one early evening decided to drive over to campus to see the Golden dome! Unbelievable beautiful campus! Cathedral was very spiritual. So glad we took the time to see everything include football stadium!! Photos don’t show true beauty! Sorry

The University of Notre Dame has captured the immigration of millions of Americans, and now by several million people overseas. Built by Irish Immigrant workers who help build the Mid-West Canals, and Rail Roads, housed by Fr. Sorin, in a Irish Catholic Community of Sorinsville near the main campus, Built by the sons and daughters of these men and woman, and lets not forget the Poles, and German workers who built the buildings there as well. An outstanding School of learning, and world known for its Football Legends continue to this day to allow dreams to be made, challenged, and come to fortition that has a magical hold over those peoples who both visit there, and have studied there. A Wonderful place to visit and learn about American at its best!!!

Lou Holtz said it well, "For those who know Notre Dame, no explanation is needed. For those who don't, no explanation will suffice."

Any visit to South Bend would not be complete without a tour of the University of Notre Dame. This education and sports icon will impress any guest and forever leave you rooting for the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame has a magical quality that one feels the moment they step on it's grounds. Notre Dame is steeped in history. It is well known for its incredible sports teams, especially the football team. The library has a stunning mosaic covering an entire outside wall. It is affectionately referred to as, "Touchdown Jesus!" You will see why when you arrive on campus. The Grotto and Sacred Heart church are beautiful spots to visit. It is in the Grotto where one really feels Notre Dame's magic. If you are not fortunate enough to obtain tickets to one of the school's famous football games, just head over to the Morris Inn. You can view it here as well as have a wonderful meal. If you are tired after your long day, there are beautiful rooms that can be reserved here as well. Be aware that you must make reservations well ahead of time because everyone wants to visit Notre Dame!!!

This was by far the most beautiful and best college visit we have had! Immaculate grounds, very safe, and employees friendly. Large enough yet very homey. Campus was bustling with camps for kids. Wished we could have visited during the school year, but amazing regardless. Grotto was under construction but the basilica is breathtaking.

Bucket list first time visit. Here for the Navy - Notre Dame football game tomorrow. Did a campus tour and went inside the stadium tunnel. Everyone so friendly here.

What is not to like. Football and Notre Dame. Everything is spotless. Staff is friendly and helpful. People come to party. And then they watch football. Touchdown Jesus. The Basilica. The Grotto. The Admin. The band. The guard. The pipes.
Everyone should go here at least once.
I grew up in South Bend only a short way from campus so coming back this weekend for a wedding rehearsal dinner at the new South End facilities of the football stadium was pretty cool to see all of the changes. The campus is really pretty to walk around on a nice day, especially the lakes. The grotto is also a neat place to see. I would recommend going in the summer when the students are gone. It's more relaxed and feels more welcoming.
