My family of 5 (ages 7, 13, 17, 37, & 38) visited the area for a few days before our trip to Universal. The accommodations in the area were not terribly expensive (we paid $100/night) and the beach was within 5 min walking distance. Parking was by the hour, unsure of the date. Our accommodation included parking so we did not have to worry about that. The public access for Upham beach was clean and not crowded in comparison to places like Destin, Pensacola, or Myrtle Beach. There is a little restaurant/shop which serves breakfast, lunch, and drinks. Pricey, but convenient. There are ice cream parlors and many restaurants within walking distance, also. Restrooms are on site. No life guards. Apparently this is an alcohol free beach, but we didn’t know that. The hubs and I had a few beers each day on the beach with no trouble.
The beach itself has pretty, white sands, but also lots of shelly areas. Great for finding beautiful shells!! Not very crowded. The water is pretty clear and blue/green. There is an inlet area with big rocks, kind of the ‘end’ of the beach. This spot is great for watching sunsets. We saw many birds, dolphins, fish, and even a shark! The shark was about 5 feet and it swam right past from ocean swimmers only about 10-15 yards off shore.

We took a few months off from the beaches just because the weather has been a little chilly so we could not wait for a good excuse to head out. What better way than the first day of the new year. We stopped this time just to watch the sunset, it has been a while since we were out here just for that. This beach is a favorite. Sometimes busy, just depends but we normally are out here when its not too bad. Always clean and maintained and always always a great view of the sun.

Great public beach access with ample parking out front and access to a great little snack shop and clean bathrooms within easy walking distance.

Convenient for beach goers. Line is a bit long at lunch crunch. Burgers were good. Fries...so so. Good for a quick soda or beer. Great view and like the live band at sunset at sunset

The beach went from washed away to about a football field wide. The sand that was put in is a little Shelly yet, but it is a 250% improved beach.

Beautifully kept natural beach where you can hear yourself think, feel the warm sun on you and clear you mind. Nice, quite place for those that are true beach combers.

It's pretty much indistinguishable from St Pete Beach except for the big yellow tubes. it occupies the northern part of St Pete Beach up until Blind Pass. Nice beach with volleyball courts and parking.

There could be no better beach experience. Clean, fine, white sand for miles of walking pleasure. It doesn't get better than this!

It was a very windy day, but still enjoyable at this beach. There was plenty of parking and very easy to get to. They offer a cute food hut with food and drinks, even cold beer. There is a bathroom to change into swimwear if needed. The bathrooms were pretty dirty, but it's to be expected at a public beach. Clean beach area, inexpensive chairs and umbrellas available. Glad we came there.

If you can find parking, this is a great beach to visit. If you can't find parking, the secret is plenty of parking on the weekends at the Bank of America at the corner of 75th, less than half a mile away. The beach and sand are clean, there is a snack vendor close by, and the people are nice. It was a surprisingly nice beach, and we would go again.

We visit Upham beach twice a year (actually stay four and a half months, snow birds and then again in September and October) We stay at Gulf Winds which is just steps from the Beach. If the waves are high the surfers come out in droves and they are fun to watch. The beach is wide and the sand wonderful. Great place for kids to play. The area has tons of great restaurants from the Beach hut as casual as you can go to the upper class Fetishes (try the $20 early bird with lots of choices and a complementary glass of good wine) You can walk to anything in between and love it.
Come down and visit it's a fun or quiet place to be. Good for kids, couples and seniors.

We were able to walk here easily from our accommodation. Parking gets really busy very early on the weekends. The beach is really clean and there is a beach bar that serves food and drinks. Toilets there are also very clean.
The beac itself had the option of hiring cabanas, parasols and sun beds and there was plenty of space to bring your own and set it up.
There were also 2 volleyball courses for the more active beach goers.
No alcohol is permitted on the beach and we saw the local sheriff stop to remove alcohol from some people on the beach, whilst others seemed to flaunt this rule without being challenged ... odd ...
The sand here is fairly coarse, compared to some of the other beaches but the sea, for the most part is clear and warm. There is some boat and jet ski passing activity but it didn’t appear to cause any risk to the bathers.
Sunset bell was a nice touch and sunset itself was beautiful

Upham beach is less crowded as other people have said, but it also has those giant sand-erosion barriers to obstruct a clear view/access to the water. You're also farther away from most of the beach bars which may contribute to the decrease in crowds. The cafe here is a nice place for breakfast if you're taking a walk on the beach!

There’s no better beach in the St. Pete area than Upham. It Probably is the quietest and smallest among all the St. Pete area beaches. Nestled between two condominium complexes to its north and south, Upham does not get the heavy visitors similar to being located near a hotel. The hotels are a bit further down to the south. There is also a snack bar on premises and paid parking is not plentiful so get there early. If you happen to be staying on the St. Pete Beach strip, you could also wal to Upham by just walking North from any point on St. Pete Beach. If you would consider the Don Cesar the most Northern part of St. Pete Beach, Upham is the most Northern part. a MUST SEE when visiting SPB.

The only downside is the huge yellow sandbags on the beach to help with the erosion problem on this end of the beach. What can you do, they are there for a reason. We loved the little Paradise Grill on the beach, which was reasonably priced for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There are volleyball nets on the wide, white sandy beach which is great.

the ocean and beach was just perfect. the golf is what many couples need for a vacation together.many other people on the beach are happy and friendly to each other. the sunsets are the best in the world

Enjoyed it one day very nice no red tide beautiful beach. Not to crowded, beautiful day at the beach.

We came to Upham Beach for a day with family. We arrived at about 9 am, so parking was readily available. We walked past public bathrooms and a great beachside restaurant on our way to the beach. Once at the beach,, we had many options for beach covers and beach chairs and we were greeted by a gentleman who allowed us to pay for the cabanas. The water was beautiful with lots of shells to inspect and collect. Lots of area for walks along the beach and just a beautiful, clean beach!

Very beautiful sand and water here! It was so warm and nice to swim in! Not very crowded like Clearwater beach with a little beach bar not far

Because it has these rubber type structures on the sand, which I am guessing help with sand erosion, it's not the nicest looking beach. It does have a snack bar and rest rooms and you can walk easily to Gulf Blvd. it doesn't have a lot of parking spaces, either. It does have volley ball nets and the white sand is soft and the sunsets wonderful.

Beautiful beach and kept up very well. Never seems to be over crowded. The beach is always kept very clean.

White sand and gulf views that's all there is. Spoiled by a couple of apartment blocks that might not have got permission to be built in the UK(!), there's a nice little cafe as you go onto the beach and plenty of walking with sea birds for company. The pelicans, especially, amused us with their routines and rituals.

Not the beach's fault... Sand was nice, view was great, but there was Red Tide and it was awful. I didn't get in the ocean and that bummed me out. Dead fish everywhere. And something I didn't know, Red Tide can give you respiratory issues. Everyone in my group was coughing and we couldn't figure out why until we Googled it. Within minutes of leaving after our couple day stay, the cough was gone.

We stayed at a motel within walking distance of Upham Beach. We spotted dolphins close to the shore at sunset and then again in the morning. Great beach for shelling. I tried getting up early to find even more shells but families were already out with pails at 8:00am. Lol. Guess the word is out that an especially beautiful variety of shells will be delivered by the tide each day. White sands and not too crowded. Ice Cream and bar/grill all within a short walking distance. Great beach to visit in St. Pete.

beach was very shelly and hard to walk with barefeet I was concerned about getting cut by shells I walked south 2 miles aday the sand is nicer farther south

A lovely beach a short walk from our motel. Families were the bulk of the people there. It was not crowded and the major activity was sun bathing. It was quite relaxing and peaceful

Upham beach has huge sandbags on both sides, this creates a stagnated beach area and can smell fishy at times. The sand is nice. Didnt find and bigger shells. This was the closest beach to our hotel, we walked here a couple of times.

Travel to St Pete beach twice a year, like to walk along to Upham beach and have a coffee at the cafe there, this time was disappointed to see the beach was blocked off by cranes and excavating work to replace the groins to stop beach erosion so the only way to get to the cafe was come off the beach at the Postcard Inn, walk along the street and take a left at 67th St, it would have been better to have a cordoned off walkway along the beach away from the construction works which supposedly will go on for 6 months or so. Hopefully work will be completed before my next trip.

Beautiful beach to stroll on, search for shells and get your feet wet in the Gulf. Volleyball nets, a cafe/bar, restrooms, and several places to access the beach. Paid parking and a few great restaurants very close if you need a break.
Beach continues on to St Pete Beach after a bit.
No matter what weather, or what time of day, it's always beautiful.

I an a local and spend every Saturday afternoon at Upham Beach because we play on a volleyball league there. Upham is a great place to take the family. It is a beautiful, large, white beach. There is a snack shack that serves pretty decent food and drinks (alcohol too) on the beach. There are 4 volleyball courts and often there is a court open for pick-up play. Parking is $1.50 and hour.

Nice beach to go to that is not overly crowded. Beautiful sand and is very cleanly. Not as much to do as pass-a-grille but a nice little place to catch the beach life effect.

Love it. Grew up here. Not as crowded as some of the bigger beaches, but just as pretty. Lots of bars & restaraunts in the area. Great sunsets. Do not try to swim in the pass near Woody's bar, as there is a serious undertow. (It is marked & obvious.)

This is a nice beach to take a long walk on but the sand is awfully rough on the feet. There is such a wide variety of places to stay on this beach but the many different looks bring a sort of tackiness to the view.

I first arrived at Upham Beach in 2009, the beautiful beach, the proximity to restaurants, bars and other amenities left me no choice but to purchase a place. I now come here every year. The beach is a site to behold.

Upton Neach ash been one of my favorites when I vist St. Pete Beach. The beach has such white sof sand and extremyl wide so you are not on top of each other. Parking can be tricky so go early.

We have friends in from out of town staying at Tradewinds so we invited them out with us yesterday to Upham Beach. Much more quiet and secluded, no kids running around screaming. Very peaceful and serene. This is our favorite beach to go to down here now.

this is located at the end of St Pete beach & usually referred to as one & the same. It has everything you require from a beach, especially when the sun is shining.

Upham Beach is great for families. The beach has good parking close by. The beach is very wide and not crowded at all. Go and spend the there is even a snack bar with rest rooms.

Great day in st Pete beach. Beautiful powder sand, not crowded, calm gulf sea—paradise. Go have a drink and some fish tacos at JimmyBs On the beach.

Love going to this beach. It's more of a family beach, not a lot of drinking and seldom full of rowdies. You can rent chaise lounges for $5.00 each and beach umbrella for $10.00. Since the nourishment last year the beach there's a lot of room to move as there's more beach.

The beach was great but obstructed by construction which was an eye sore but we managed to get a great view of the sunset despite it. Other than that the water was great and the kids loved it!

This stunning beach is a gem! It's clean and the days we went, not crowded. Plenty of showers to wash the sand of your feet.

Great to sunbathe and relax all day long the sand is soft and it's not to crowded great beach in st Petes

Great beach for locals and tourists hang out here and enjoy the beach, water, sun and relaxing walks on the beach. Small lodging hotels and great local restaurants within walking distance. Parking on the street and in city area lots. Nice and clean, beautiful shells and don't forget the sunset!

....during the week. Also a great place to play volleyball, as 4 nets are permanent. Nice little bar/light fare restaurant right on the beach.

Upham beach as a kid was all but deserted. Many years later it is nice to see that people have taken notice to the Upham Beach experience. The snack shack is reasonably priced and a good place to have food and a beer. You can't bring said beer on the beach but if you feel like taking a break from the sun, the benches at the shack have umbrellas to shade you. The food is good as well. From Upham beach you can see miles of beachline with the Don Cesar in the distance. Its a clean beach with wave breaks that they've built over the years. A lot of interesting shells and fish to be seen, fished, or otherwise obtained. It gets a bit busy so I encourage people to arrive early for your choice spot. Metered parking is a bit expensive. Bring some flip flops or shoes as the ground gets hot under your feet.

If you are looking for a stretch of beach that is calming to the spirit...look no more! Takes a bit of of effort to walk to the shore from the parking area, but well worth it! Family friendly, couples friendly, singles friendly...lovely place to photograph and enjoy the Gulf of Mexico. Bring a beach chair and prepare to relax!

Those who visit Upham Beach usually love it - it has the spirit, on bright, sunny days it is relaxing, and in bad weather it is dark and moody.
Spacious, rather quiet, with beautiful dunes, it is great to spend a day on this beach - swimming, picking up shells, playing volleyball, walking north up to the Blind Pass, dining in the nearby restaurants and bars. Parking is available on site.
I always love to take photos of Upham Beach. They can say a lot and more about this lovely place.

My wife and I went to this beach over the Labor Day weekend and we had a blast. The beach is very nice and pretty.

This beach is very wide, long, and away from all the big resorts. If you like activities only on land this is still a great beach. If you like activities in the water you will be disappointed. This used to be the best surfing and skimboarding beach on the entire west coast of Florida until the local government decided to put giant rock "groins" in to prevent sand from being washed away every 5 years. The sand still washed away between the groins and the beach still has to have sand pumped on it just less often, so a success??? Either way make sure to watch your children as the rocks are razor sharp underwater. I miss being able to visit this beach and surfing. It does have excellent parking, probably the best of all the public beaches in the area, multiple showers and dune cross overs, enjoy.

Hadn't been here since it went through the re-nourishing project; all new sand but still very shelly as opposed to regular sand.
But they do have a recent addition, the Paradise Grill, same owners as the one on Pass a Grille, again, very convenient.

As a resident of St. Pete Beach, Upham Beach is fabulous. Not crowded with plenty of resorts and restaurants nearby. Great beach for kids! I see dolphins everyday from my balcony! Great sunsets and great fishing for Dad!

After the beach renourishment, this has become an excellent beach area. It's clean and not normally very crowded

End of the beach corner.lived by here for yrs.great beach snack shop.excellent breakfast too.bathrooms.showers.nice rentals across the street. Lived there 11 yrs.n only needed a bicycle.great for retireing there.

I love this spot!, roam lush Gardens, view dolphins playing, pelicans diving for dinner and the Mullets jumping out of the water ...oh yeah and AMAZING SUNSSET. Dont miss Woodies for eats, Yum!

This is a beautiful beach in St Pete- parking is easy. Showers and bathrooms are close by, my 80 year old parents go to this beach, so I knew the walking was easy. The water was very warm this time of year 89 degrees, like way too warm- but I’m sure it feels great in the spring. No real undertow or riptides that we could see, the sand like most gulf side beaches is like flour, white and silky. The ease of parking and having amenities was great. We did get to the beach between 10-10:30am, most likely after that parking could be a challenge.

Public restrooms available. Metered parking. A nice beach, walking distance to restaurants, bars, and hotels.

we like it here because it's away from all the big hotels thus less people and noise in addition the area is bigger so you don't feel like you are on top of each other there is a Paradise Grill reasonable prices we like the chicken fingers - there are also bathrooms that can be used

Beautiful sandy beach in quiet, tidy neighbourhood with many places to stay with ample parking. Great sunsets.

Went there for over 25 years before first wife passed away. It was OUR place to go every year. All I can say is that it was a glorious place to enjoy and relax!

Great public beach. We LOVED this beach. I can't imagine a beach any better anywhere. Cute snack shack, awesome Gulf Views, walking distance to beach bars and restaurants. Plenty of locals to get recommendation from. St. Pete Beach is permanently on my #1 vacation spot.

On this section of the beach there is lot's of construction with huge stones being set as breakers to save the beach from erosion. there is a large fenced in area containing more of the huge stones, that block views and access at one point. Wait til it's all done.

I stumbled upon this beach after renting a condo nearby. I had no problem finding a piece of sand to claim for the day. Parking can be an issue.

This is one of the nicest public beaches in Pinellas county. Easy free parking and lots of restaurants within walking distance. Excellent for families with children.

Walked from my hotel and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the beach. Nice that there was a place to buy food and drinks and rent lounge chairs and canopies.

What more can I say? Pure white sand, blue ocean, nearby food and drink all with a perfect climate! Perfection!

A great spot to get away from the "Spring Break" crowd. Not as rowdy but equally as beautiful. Take a stroll to the end and watch the tide roll in!

This beach is nice and quiet. Away from the busyness of the hotels further down the way. The big yellow the ruins in the water were a little unappealing but they say that rocks are going to be replacing them soon. Look forward to coming back

This is our go to for a good sunset and sometimes you just need a good sunset.
St Pete Beach or Upham Beach is a great spot to get great views of the sunsets.
Very clean and well maintained parking lot, restrooms, and beach areas.
Not crowded at all during the weekdays, when we normally go. Weekends can be busier but that is to be expected.
You can easily spend a whole day here. The waves can be challenging for the younger kids but they love the water.

This beach is clean, not as busy as some of the other ones near by and we went several times as it appealed. Will continue to return.

Beach I'm told is going to be closed October thru December for regeneration work.
Have always enjoyed this beach,as quiter than st pete beach.

So so peaceful! We came around 630 in he morning, had coffee and donuts on the beach and then walked it a bit to look for shells. We really enjoyed our morning there.

Situated on the north end of St Pete Beach, Upham Beach is covered with the famous Gulf Coast white sand. Because of the nearby jetty there are a couple of smaller lagoons where kids can play, out of the surf. Not that there is ever much surf here, per se. Most days, the Gulf is calm. There is a snack bar/restaurant at the beach called the Paradise Grill. Don't let its looks decieve you, the food is quite good here and priced right, and they sell beer. There are also bathrooms and a shower if needed. Parking can be a bit challenging, especially on weekends or holidays, beware. You also have to use a parking app, which some older vistors may struggle with. Great beach witha mixture oflocals and tourists alike.

Love this beach, great sand, not too crowded yet something cool is always going on! Plenty of restaurants and bars in walking distance many offer great prices!!

Nicely located in St. Pete this beach is large, but not too large as it sits in an area where the you can enjoy a the calming waves and yet a great sunset as well. There is also a snack bar located here, too.

The red tide has finally gone, city did a great job cleaning the beach.Plans to refurbish the beach start in The New Year.

Beautiful beach with soft sand and seashells, cute little stand for food and drinks. Lots of parking with easy beach access.Great views from sunrise to sunset. Grab a beach blanket, some sunscreen, pack a cooler and enjoy the beach!

ive staqyed away from this part of the beach on my visits because the only part id seen of the corey avenue area was on the trolley.. (the area where mermaids gentlemns club and some adult store are.. so i thought it might be sketchy. but the area of the beach directly behind the upham beach area condos is awesome ..not for swimming but for catching a close look at pelicans on the retaining walls and rocks.. saw a bunch of kids boogie boarding in this area too..i guess the current rips funkier here because of the ripshaw. the area is actually pretty nice, with some good restaurants, etc..i shouldnt have been so hasty to judge it

Visited this beach with a family of four, under 8yo, decent bathrooms, foot/ body wash up area, made to order food and drinks for all ages(very affordable), pay for parking via app or coins, and the ability to rent , clam shell cabanas, lounge chairs and umbrellas for reasonable prices! Water is beautiful also the beach, and not to deep for the little kids!

We absolutely loved this beach and had so much fun. Parking is limited so get there early. Restaurant and restrooms are available. We saw so many schools of fish and snorkeled with them. The garden next to the beach is awesome. We sat for hours and watched probably close to 15 dolphins feeding. I have never saw so many dolphins in one area. The sunset is also amazing

Upham Beach is located on the north side of St. Petersburg Beach, convenient to the shops and restaurants of Corey Avenue. It is a great public spot donated by the Upham family, the original developers and pioneers of much of the Beach.
The beach is good for families and sunbathing, but it is undergoing restoration after losing much of its sand. Environmental geotubes were placed to build up the beach to its original wide width. Looking northward the beach may seem uninviting. Looking southward, you realize you are part of the same beach where people are spending good bucks for a waterfront hotel.
If the main public beach at St. Pete Beach is overcrowded and the parking lot is filled, Upham Beach provides a good alternative if you just want a piece of white sand and some clear water to swim.

Logistically easy for our family which is why I'm reviewing. We picked it specifically for easy parking and walkable to food. There is a Pavillion but we chose to walk 8 minutes
to Woody's for better food (not great food other than the clam strips and very $$ for what we got) I did however use the Pavillion bathroom which was better than other beach bathrooms, no wet sandy floor or humid warm odor. We parked easily at 1030 but by 11 all spots were gone. $16 for 4 hours. Super affordable compared to siseta key ($45) . Easy beach access. We left tent and towels/toys/boogie boards but took purses for the hour lunch we were gone. There are lots of rocks on the beach but spots in between had great waves which is what we were hoping for. From palmetto 30 min drive. Our usual bradenton beach tho closer in mileage takes longer and you just SIT in traffic. Cute areas to walk and shop (Corey st, John's pass, gulf drive) so you "could" make a full day of it. We won't go again, bc we prefer siesta key village and sand but it was a good day for the waves so that made it worth it

This is a very nice beach. Upham Beach is located off Gulf Blvd at 68th Avenue. Drive west to Beach Plaza Road. Upham Beach stretches from about 67th Avenue to 71st Avenue. There is metered parking, $1.25 per hour or $5.00 per day. Enforced from 8am to 8pm every day. So, if you come after 8pm, parking is FREE. The beach doesn't close. Upham has four wooden dune walkovers that lead from the long, narrow, pay and park lot, across the dunes to a very wide, white sandy beach. A short walk north takes you to Blind Pass, which has a rock jetty. This is a great place to watch the sunset. Dolphins often make an appearance close to the shore. September is the slowest month of the year for St. Pete Beach.

White sand, snack bar, weekend music, umbrella and chair rental, public benches, a place to rinse the sand off your feet. It is all there. Metered parking. Highly recommend

We come to Upham Beach when we visit St. Petes Beach! The location is perfect- plenty of public parking, not crowded, chair/umbrella rentals, and an easy walk to local restaurants and bars. It also has a cute little beach place to get sandwiches/beverages AND has a public restrooms ❤️ It is also close to one of our favorite places- Rick’s Reef!!

Never knew this was here. The rock walls have been added to prevent erosion. Some adults fishing off of them and kids playing. No lifeguard so be advised to watch and little ones. Also check out the secret garden at the north end. Great place to watch the sunset.
No a lot of tourists. Lots of dolphins!

This is a little beach at the north end of the main St. Pete Beach. They have a little shack where you can get breakfast or lunch, good beach food and a nice spot to lie in the sunshine!!

Easy to get to. Nice food stand. Volleyball nets, sand, water, not crowded. Pay for your parking and have a great time at this beautiful location! Great location for sunset!

Upham Beach is pretty much St. Pete Beach, just a stones throw up the coast. It's very pretty. I've heard they have done some serious undertaking to restore the sand on the beach. I don't know what it looked like previously, but I can tell you it is a very wide beach now, almost like Clearwater. The beach seems to be clean and well maintained.
Close to the parking area there are restrooms, outdoors showers to rinse the sand off and concessions. The only real downside is you do pay for parking by the hour which is common up and down the coast. Also, keep in mind there are no lifeguards. They also have some volleyball courts set up as well.
I've included several pictures from our visit including the parking area, beach, view, etc.
If you found this review helpful, please let me know by clicking the button below! I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

Sunsets , great place to pick up a quick dinner at the snack bar , and watch the Sunset , it is a spectacular show. No red tide ,, or dead fish , storms cleaned things up . Great beach

It is a beautiful white soft sand beach that never seems crowded. They will be refurbishing the protective loins in the fall and replacing them with a new permanent jetty to protect the sand.
There is a walk up volleyball game usually going on. Sometimes it's a league.

Beautiful, white smooth beach with volleyball courts, cabanas, chairs and the Paradise Grill with awesome food!

Absolutely stunning. Very pedestrian location. Restaurants, stores and more very accessible. But you can find a little hideaway and be very private.

We stayed at Saint Pete Beach Suites a short walk away from this beach. This was our go to beach and it was great. First day water was a little rough but everyday after that was fabulous.
You can rent a cabana or Umbrella here or just bring your own chairs and umbrella. We did both and the cabana was very convenient on a windy day(that claimed many umbrella casualties). There is also a place to get a quick meal here at this beach.
The water is wonderful here and the beach is very clean. It is a LITTLE rougher on the feet then Clearwater or PCB as there are more mashed up shells in the sand but nothing too crazy.
Wish we were still there.

This is a beautiful beach, with gentle waves and some really gorgeous views. Lots of room for kids, friends and family. We love it here.

I call this the quiet end of St Pete Beach. There are a lot less people. There is a little sandwich shop that also serves beer. If you want a little more peace and quiet this is where to go.

I recently returned from my 3rd visit to Upham Beach. Nice area- beach area is nice and wide, soft sand, nice water. Umbrellas and chair rentals available. Not too crowded.

Quite, Clean Not overly crowded
*BIG YELLOW SAND BAGS are an eyesore*
But Sunset view is amazing. This beach is along Dolphins feeding path you'll see them early mornings or late evening around sunset.
*July-August a school of black drum lingered around the beach hundreds of them.
Fishing and overall wildlife experience is one to remember never know what to expect. Alot of Sea shells everywhere
*Clear calm days in summer is EXCELLENT for snorkeling
4th of July Fireworks are cool cause you can see other beaches
Overall Beach is Quite ,Beautiful, relaxing
I'm a resident of Friendly Native so this is home

We had our wonderful but warm wedding here through Gulf Beach weddings. It was so fun and perfect for pictures. It was not crowded and the beach is huge. Bring shoes or flip flops though because the shells are sharp.

This is one of the prettiest beaches we have been to! The beach is painstakingly groomed every morning. The sand is finely grained sand and crushed shell and does not seem to get hot under foot as some other beaches do. The beach is wide and there are plenty of vendors offering cabanas and lounges for rent. The north end has a very pretty garden by the Blind Pass waterway. There are several beach bars offering music, food, and beverages as well although there doesn’t appear to be many happy hour offerings. Jimmy B’s is the largest and most well known and the music was great. Twisted Monkey is more intimate (read crowded). Music on weekends starts around 1p but on weekdays you need to wait until 6p.
The Gulf water was calm but a little chilly in February. There were still people in but I preferred to wade.
We would definitely return.

Easy to get to. Super soft white sand Bathrooms and little grille eating stand with outside patio tables. Serves beer. Cheap prices. 1.50 an hour to park. Awesome little beach.

Very wide beach with sugar white sands but very small waves if any and the ocean breeze is also small (at least when we were there) and the beach is a long way from the hotels once you add the ugly weeded area beyond the wide beach. Looked like a big lake rather than an ocean. Not impressed!

My daughter and I along with 2 grandchildren stayed at the Gulf Winds Condos which is at Upham Beach in Dec.2013.The beach was beautiful and not at all crowded. We loved having the Paradise Grill right there on the beach. No need to walk back to the room for food, drinks or restroom! There are also beach chairs and umbrellas to rent.We will definately return here on our next beach vacation.Very quiet area yet walkable to numerous restaurants, shops, ice cream parlors.

A lot of taxpayers' money has been spent to "save" the beach. Expenditure would not be necessary if "environmentalists" were reasonable in their demands. The beach is large so lots of room. The March break students are well behaved and courteous. It is a safe beach with the correct number of man-made activities. A great place to walk, relax on a towel, swim fish and join appropriate offered activities

Nice little beach area with a great food/beer stand...volleyball courts. A lot less busy that further down St Pete beach. Great relaxing area.

Upham beach is in a great location. And it us absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend spending a say here.

Beautiful, clean, wide beach. We lived on Isla Verde Beach in Puerto Rico and this beach is just as pretty. I was pleasantly surprised.

The Upham beach area, of St. Pete beach, has been written up in some national articles as being one of the best beaches in Florida

This is a small beach near many off the beach condos and rentals so it's perfect for them. It is one of the 1st public beach accesses in St Pete Beach to the north end because many can be blocked by private condo communities. This is the start of the walkable part of St Pete Beach to the south however limited on street parking

I live around the corner so come here on scooter and bicycle. It's easy to get around, safe and secure, plus the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has deputies patrolling here all the time! They're cool, but please obey ALL traffic laws or you WILL get a ticket!
Best way to park is to sign up for Parkmobile, a cool app that lets you pay via smart phone. I load up $$$, then park my SUV at the beach, pay via the app, and don't have to worry about carrying cash or coin! Very convenient!

Having stayed in St. Pete Beach years earlier, we were eager to return to its white, sandy shores again. This year, we stayed in Tampa so accessing the beach required a place to park. We tried the public beach lot first and found ourselves among several other cars hunting for an elusive spot. A quick web search later, we stumbled upon Upham Beach and were grateful to find a parking spot right away. At the time of this review, the cost for parking is $1.50 per hour and the machine takes coins or credit (no bills).
Upham Beach was somewhat busy when we arrived but there was still ample space to settle in for some fun and sun. It's at the north end of the beachhead so it was likely quieter than further south. There tended to be more families and older folks here. My boy and I enjoyed the rolling waves and mild water temperature while my wife stretched out and absorbed the sunshine. You'll find plenty of sea shells along the shore and, if you venture out further, you might score something larger if you dig around. I stumbled upon a decaying shell about the size of a mini-football but it took some effort to dig it out of the sand.
I didn't see much in the way of commercial business in the area but there seemed to be plenty down the beach to the south. There was a bar and grill close by but I didn't visit it to comment. All in all, Upham is a good place for a Florida beach experience. We'll definitely go back when in the area again.

Upham beach is a small area in St Pete and seemed to be popular either local surfers. We stayed in a condo right on the beach and got to see the surfers daily which was a bonus! Paradise Grille is right on the beach and has amazing food got your beach day! Chairs are available to rent and it is a great beach for walks and sunsets! Lots of other restaurants within walking distance.

A nice beach to walk, or lay in the sun. Volleyball nets were up. Good for shelling after a storm. Restroom and food available.

Very nice beach with rental chairs and umbrellas available. Public restrooms and a restaurant on site. Had a great week visiting.

This was the first beach we came upon in St. Pete and I'm glad we stopped. This beach is absolutely wonderful with white sand and clear water. I liked it because there is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the beach. There is plenty of parking spots available along with a tiki hut serving food and drinks. There are beach volleyball courts and plenty of chairs and umbrellas as well (for a charge). This end of the beach seemed relatively quiet and that's exactly how I like it. I felt like we had the beach to ourselves.

One of the most beautiful beaches I've seen at least in Florida. Paid parking adjacent to the beach entrance. Bar nearby with public restrooms, friendly service. Possibility to rent cabanas, in short, everything perfect for a very enjoyable beach experience. We would definitely stay again.

I know why they call this the sunset capital of Florida.... absolutely amazing sunsets.... look at the pictures.....

Love the this beach, great place to just relax and watch the sunsets! Water is nice and usually calm.

A municipal beach access to the Gulf of Mexico.. Clean beaches, plenty of parking (free after 5 pm).

Upham Beach is the closest public beach to the downtown area of Saint Pete Beach. One of the key factors to its popularity is its adjacent large, safe parking lot. It also an easy short walk to beach food and beach beverages. There is no charge for public Beaches in Saint Pete Beach. The beach sand is smooth and the waves are gentle. Come in the evening and enjoy a beautiful sunset.

My wife and I always head to this beach for our daily walk. Great sand, fun people watching and often very spectacular sunsets. Parking is NOT $40/3hours as one review stated-it is 2.25/hour.
My grandkids especially like playing on the sand.

Lots of tiki-hut bars and hotel restaurants along the beach. Walk to Bongo's at the beach in front of the round hotel (Clarion) to toast one of the famous sunsets that beach is known for. Rent water toys or para sail for water fun.

Upham is a great little public beach. My girls loved collecting shells, playing in the sand, and swimming in the surf. The beach does have colossal yellow sand bags that help to keep the beach there. Rent a cabana and chairs for the day. Paradise Grille is steps away with good food and great beer specials. WATCH OUT for the brazen seagulls. A gal in the cabana ext to ours had a seagull snatch a chicken nugget out of her hand while she wasn't looking!

This is a nice beach. Cabanas available, food on property.
Great place to go if you are into beach volleyball. Although there are a lot of people playing from club’s in organized competitions.
Still a cool place to go even if you only watch!

Upham beach is a lovely wide stretch of beach now that groynes have been buried in sand. There is shallow warm water for children to play and wonderful stretch of beach to walk. Restaurants and bars are within easy reach to round out your visit.

Located at the north end of the beach, its has great swimming, a concession facility with great beer prices and just around the corner is Woody's ...best wings anywhere.
The beach is wide and has no hotels in the back of it and ample paid parking.

This part of St Pete is great to start and finish a long beachwalk. I walked 3-8 miles a day. You can finish with a cold drink when your done right on the beach.

The beach was great! It has a beach bar with good food and drinks. It also has cabanas and umbrellas and chair available to rent. There does seem to be some construction going on but no noise the days we were there.

Great beach where the locals go. Worth heading here to get away from the main beach crowd. Easy place to hang out all day. They also have a company on the beach that rents out beach chairs, cabanas and umbrellas. There is also a restaurant on the beach that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Unfortunately, because it is a public beach, you still have the trashy folks who insist on bringing their radios and their entire living room set out to the beach to ruin the actually beach experience - so beware. Other than that, it is generally quite peaceful.

We stayed within walking distance to Upham Beach. It's a large beautiful beach with volleyball courts and bars and restaurants within close walking distance. Paradise Grill is right there with $2 beers and surprisingly very good food. They have live music on the weekends on the patio.

We have visited most beachs in this area but always prefer coming back here. The big plus is I like to walk the beach and I find the beach is easy to walk. The water is usually clear with little or no sea weed. Nice bars along the way if you need a refreshment. We gave been going here for about six years.

I live locally, and love this beach. - Recently they reclaimed a large portion of the beach (pumping sand from the gulf) making it a much wider, which has increased the amount of people on it. Beautiful sunsets

Great beach for those not staying in beachfront motel. Showers and bathrooms on site, close to restaurants, stores and bars on the Gulf Blvd strip.

There is a snack stand, picnic tables and restrooms... right off the parking area. 7 miles of beach to walk, you can bring your own beach chair or rent a cabbana/chairs. You can bring your own food/beverages if you like. Volleyball is set up and the the sand is perfect for making sand castles!

This beach was so clean and quiet. It is very well taken care of. They have construction currently going on to prevent beach erosion but it wasn't too much of an eye sore or too loud. You can rent umbrellas and chairs if you want. They have a concession stand and although we didn't try the food there we heard it was good from other people at the beach. It's not too far from St. Pete Beach but if you want somewhere a little more quiet than that one Upham would be the best. It is also a great place to watch the sunset at night over the Gulf. 100% would recommend going to this beach, we loved it!

The entire shoreline in St Pete Beach is spectacular. and it goes on forever. It's a great place to walk or stroll as the water laps the shore. There are tons of Beach bars to stop for a refreshing drink and snack. I love the whole place! I live there during the winter.

Nice gulf beach. White sand. Calm water. Great swimming for kids. The beach is very crowded and there are limited parking spots. We ended up paying a motel a block off beach, $20 to park in one of their spots. Better than St Pete beach a very miles south with 25 cars circling parking lot of 100 spots.

We have been to this beach several different times on vacaions and love how easily accessible it is. The rentals are great, sand is soft, and food stand is also quite good!!

I met my husband on this beach and we have gone back every year since 2004. His family has been going to this beach for years before that. The kids love that the t groins make a little calm swimming area. Fishing off the jettis is risky but has great rewards. The parking is INSANE but we always rent from Capris or Gulf Winds Resort so we have a spot. The firework show is the best! At least 30 minutes and if you get a good spot you can see Trade Winds Resort and Don Cesars firework show as well.

In theory the very ugly, yellow plastic bags of sand that act as groins are being replaced b stone ones. The work is partly done, and the stone ones do look better. However the work stopped months ago, there is an area of the beach covered with rocks and other stuff in a fenced off area. No evidence the work will be restarted, or finished! any time soon.
The yellow bags are still there.
It is all very unsightly, just a mess. Avoid.

We loved this beach. We were staying in-between Tampa and Orlando and we went to Disney, universal and sea world. We went to all the tourists traps. But one of the days we decided to hit the beach, And I’m so glad we went to St. Pete’s Beach and upham beach. If your looking for a quiet relaxing beach with white sand and beautiful sunsets this is it! The water was chilly in the middle of February, but it was awesome. We ate dinner at paradise grill and watched the sunset. Best part of our trip!

Great white sandy beaches with gorgeous clear water! Check out Upham Beach - and Paradise Grille. So relaxing!!!

Such a shame and so sad. Just miles of dead fish and birds all the way to the Pink Hotel. Water down to Pass-a-Grille is brown and filled with bloated rotting dead things. Not a place to pay for a vacation to get sick.

This has to be one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to. You have to catch a sunset here!!

I always thought that it is just the north end of St. Pete Beach. But it has its own name!
It is a picturesque beach, ending up with huge black rocks on the border of the Blind Pass -- a favorite place of fishermen , pelicans and egrets, waiting for food (from fishermen). Facing the beach are some rental properties, beach bars. Sleeping dunes are captivating: it's very peaceful and very quiet there. Popular with locals, tourists, volleyball players, walkers and true nature lovers.

TEENAGERS EVERYWHERE smoking cigarettes and other things. Sand is hard, flies are everywhere and seagulls will steal food literally out of your mouth. Overcrowded and parking is a nightmare-$40 for 3 hours!!!

Upham is the beach I frequent the most. I like Upham because there are typically less people at this one. This beach offers chairs, umbrellas, beach volleyball and beautiful sunset views. There is also a little cove that I've seen some surfers in. Overall, this beach tends to be a little more quiet than St. Pete Beach.

The day we arrived at our condo, people were setting up chairs and canopies for two weddings to be held that evening on the beach. It was a beautiful evening with a beautiful sunset!

We will return to Upham Beach. Very nice. Only drawback was the horrible odor from the T-groins. We had to stay far away from them.

Best beach ever!!! We have a Condo across the street!! I love this beach!! Morning and evening walks are the best!! So quiet and relaxing!!!

This beach located on St Pete Beach is a nice spot to swim and lay on the beach. Its at the north end of the whole Beach and has meter parking close to it. There aren't a lot of hotels or beach bars right near it, nor any restaurants. Its mainly for enjoying the water and sand. Its family friendly and there is a small outdoor Tiki Hut lunch place to grab a bite and a bottled water. Its not cheap though and closes at 3:00pm. Overall nice place to go Tanning.

Upham beach is beautiful beach - there is some remediation planned but at the moment the beach is wide and clean and soft.

They've been building a rock jetty for months, so there's lots of fences and construction as obstacles. The beach is crowded. There are much nicer beaches nearby.

Nice clean beach with a lot of nice places to walk. Many hotels and bars along the beach for maximum entertainment.

This shack has good prices, bathrooms, showers all the beach amenities except a shopping store, which you can find elsewhere across the street

Was there a few years ago and there were large yellow, sand filled tubes on the beach to help stop erosion I believe. They must have trucked in a bunch of sand and removed the tubes, Looks really nice and also a lot bigger. Has a little beachside grill there also. Very nice!!

Firstly there are HUGE, ugly yellow things all over the beach called "Tee Groins". Total eyesore. The sand is hard and uncomfortable to walk on. Homeless people were sleeping on the beach during the day. There are a LOT of cigarette smokers there which I don't want my children around. Also, some of the homeless people were looking at my 12 year old daughter in a disgusting way. Go to Treasure Island!!!!

Bit quieterr than St Pete's beach because in area of condos and vacation rentals but still has the awesome sand and good swimming Also has 3 places to eat near the mouth of the pass which were good

I really like this beach, it's one of my favorites in St. Pete. It isn't quite as busy and crowded as further down the beach where all the hotels and restaurants are located. The water is nice for swimming and I found some nice sea shells. There are also a lot of skimmers that fly along the shore here and I love to seeing them fishing. Get there early since parking is rather minimal. It is just $5 to park for the day (beach is free, parking isn't)

This is my favorite beach in St Pete. Plenty of parking and lots of space to spread out on the sand. I just wish it would become a non-smoking beach.

When you want to get out of the crowd then stop here. Quaint little snack bar with beach toys etc. Easy parking and a short walk to the beach.

We have lived in St.Petersburg for 10 years. We always thought Pass A Grille was our favorite beach. We now discovered this beautiful clean beach with white sand , lounge chairs for rent, and a Paradise Grill to purchase variety of food and beer. The Grill has several picnic tables with umbrellas to relax out of direct sun. Plenty of paid metered parking .The area honors your yearly St. Pete beach car decal parking permit as well. Great beach for good relaxation.

Nice clean beach with bathroom nearby. Plus the cafe is open for breakfast and lunch. Great for families. Several restaurants within walking distance.

White sand and lovely beach. There are also great sunsets. This is a long beach to take a stroll on at any time of day

Upham Beach is less crowded than other parts of St. Pete Beach. There are plenty of cabanas, lounge chairs and umbrellas available. Paradise Grille is here for great food, drinks, and rest rooms.

This beach is tucked back off of Gulf Blvd, so some might miss it. We really enjoy going here because there is a snack bar. The parking is metered, like most beaches, and on some days parking can be tricky.

The beach was so clean not crowded. We had a great visit will go back again. The water was so clear... with dolphins in the background!

The beach is roomy, beautiful sand and beach. Kids can look for shells, Bathroom facilities close by and it's a great place to watch the sunsets and get up close to pelicans.

Nice beach to take a walk or watch the sunset
The sand is quite rough on your feet
This is the only inconvenient
Just consider to take some flip flop with you
The overall is good

Terrible beach!! No room to sit unless you want to pay $$$$$ for chairs! Thought this was a public beach?!!

This used to be a great beach but recent storms have removed a lot of the sand that was once there. Another major problem is the giant yellow sand bags that the city put into place to hold back the sand from washing away. This failed and now they are just ugly eyesores all along the beach. There are much better beaches to spend the day just a short ride south (St Pete Beach, Pass a Grille Beach. They are both worth the short drive.

An extremely good place to enjoy the sun and sand. We walked the beach each of the last three days.Had no issues with anything on any of these three trips.

this public beach is a gem! located in st pete beach, it's in a pretty much residential area of condos and apartments. one of the things I love about it, is the fact that it's located at the "end" of the beach. its spotlessly clean and a very large beach area. I have literally been in the water with manatees and dolphins. the picture of it that you see on trip advisor says it all. AND there is a café/grill right there. inexpensive beer and really good food! there is also beach chair/ umbrella rental that is the most reasonably priced anywhere on the beach. and the attendant is so very friendly, makes you feel very welcome and genuinely glad that you have come to his beach!

Where else would you want to spend an afternoon, great place with a great view! Love to watch the boats go through the area and fisherman on the banks.
This beach was such a beauty. It was clean and tidy. I went fairly early so it was very calming and quiet. Easily accessible.
