After a moderately steep climb on a good path, you will find yourself at the bottom of this waterfall that pours over a cliff. We didn't have the appropriate footwear to clamber up to the bowl, but it is doable it you are agile. There is a nice footbridge over the stream as it cascades down the slope below the falls. The falls are visible from the parking lot, but the view is not satisfactory...you want to take the hike if at all possible

the falls is beautiful and the trail is really lovely as well. It is mostly uphill but all of the lush vegetation helps distract you.

Awesome water fall, nice little hike but steep at times.
If your taking a trip to Diamond or Crater lakes don"t
miss this little treasure

The parking is kind of limited if a lot of other vehicles are there. The trail is strictly all up hill, so be prepared. But it's a nice little jaunt and once you get to the end where the falls are, it is worth it. Really neat to see. I imagine in spring and early summer there is more water coming over. We were there on July 24th and the amount of water coming over was less. The one negative thing I have to say is that at the end of the trail, the trail has not been maintained very well and you have to climb up and among some rocks to get to the viewing area. But if you want a nice little outing with a little bit of a work out, then go there.

This is an easy stop on the way home from Crater Lake. Nice, easy(ish) hike up to the falls from the trail head. About 20 min. walk or so. Interesting foliage along the way. Many types of moss and fern.

The hike is only 0.4 mile, but it's uphill and uneven, but completely manageable even for us in our 70s. We loved the views along the trail and the falls was an excellent destination. We felt very good about ourselves for making this hike and I came away with some excellent photographs.

Beutifull must see! The falls are great. If you love fishing, hunting and hiking this would be a great place to start.

Even for youngsters! We use to live at Toketee and always took visitors there as easy access and a do-able hike for even two yr olds!

Both Tokeete and Watson Falls are situated along hwy 138 and within minutes of each other. We saw them on our way to Crater Lake (from Roseburg). In our opinion Tokeete Waterfall, though not nearly as high as Watson is prettier, but see them both. If you look closely, Tokeete appears to be tri level. Tokeete Falls is approx 15 min walk from the parking lot. Watson Falls is approx 25 min walk from parking lot. The hike to Watson is probably more difficult than Tokeete, but still not really difficult unless you have issues.

My mom took my and my siblings here about 12 years ago for a hike/picnic and it's still burnt into my memory. One of the most beautiful waterfalls I've seen in Oregon. Still visit from time to time. Definitely worth seeing.

We enjoy the short hike through the woods to the bottom of the falls. My brother & I hiked to the narrow trail towards the top. On one of the landings you can look out for miles and never see any sign of civilization. Coming from So. Calif. he was amazed.

My wife and I have been a couple times with our two year old. Great short hike to do with kids. Lots of big trees, easy hike, and very scenic waterfall and stream.

This is the third tallest falls in Oregon, I believe. It is a little hike among the flora and fauna. Not strenuous and the trees make it coler on a warm day. Close to main road.

It is a climb and decend trail and simply stunning landscape. The falls are nice, but not the highlight of the trail.

Not for the easy to tire set - this requires quite an uphill hike over rocks to get there. Waterfall is impressive - don't bother climbing to the very top of the trail unless you want to get wet. There is a loop trail to take down which puts you almost in the same spot as you started with different views.

The hike is so beautiful and the falls are breathtaking. You must scamper right to the bottom of the falls to get the full mist effect - but SO worth it!

A helpful individual answering the phone at Lithia Park (Ashland) told us Watson Falls was his favorite waterfall in the region. So we skipped Rogue River Gorge Falls & Toketee and headed to Watson.
It was a Monday, and there were only a handful of visitors. We shared conversations and took one another's photos.
Unless you have serious knee or foot issues, you should be able to make the ascent. Most folks stayed 5 minutes at the end, but we sat on a bench ...
... and savored the views.

This was #3 on our tour out of Medford. We were there around 1pm, not too hot. Didn't see any mosquitoes, which was great, because I forgot the spray. Easy uphill trail. Very scenic along the way. There is a return trail so your don't have to share the trail in two different directions. Very impressive. Don't pass it by if you get a chance to stop.

We drove down from Crater lake to Coos Bay though the Umpqua Valley and stopped here - the hike up is moderate, but you are soon in among the trees and the stream - photographers dream

Pretty crazy to see such a tall waterfall in the Oregon area. This one is huge. The hike in is pretty steep at times, but the trail is worn and easily traveled. The huge trees in the area are breathtaking. Even the ones that have already fallen and busted up on the forest floor provide a sight. Parking is limited, 10-15 stalls. There are bathrooms at the parking lot. The cliff walls surrounding the falls are huge and seem to even angle in, providing a feeling that you are underneath them. No picture can do these justice. Its a must see in person. Don't stop at the viewing bridge, though the hike is hard to that point and doesn't get easier, the walk to the top is well worth it. Note: you do not walk to the top of the falls, but the trail ends much closer than the bridge area, and is well worth it to get all the way to the end of the trail.

There are so many waterfalls in the North Umpqua area. This is one of the great hikes in the area! The waterfall is pretty high!

We were told by a couple of locals about this place so on our way out of Crater lake we stopped and made the easy hike to the base of the falls. Amazing views of a spectacular fall. The hike goes through lush forests that reminded me of the Ho rainforest. The hike ends with a landing overlooking the pool the falls lands in after its decent.. Great photo ops!

This looks like a great waterfall and nice short hike, BUT... while Roseburg may be the closest town it is misleading a 120 out and back to the Falls to be the top rated thing to do here. We suggest updating the location.
We’ll have to try another time when we’re headed toward Crater or Diamond Lake instead of along the I-5 corridor.

Watson Falls is a delightful stop along Scenic Byway Route 138 between Roseburg and Crater Lake National Park. With its 293-foot drop, it is the highest waterfall in southwestern Oregon. The steadily uphill packed-dirt trail is gorgeous with fir and hemlock trees, with ferns and mossy rocks that parallel the creek. There are two good viewpoints of the falls along the 20-minute-long hike: the first from a wooden bridge after 10 minutes of walking, and the second from the upper viewpoint at the end of the trail next to the base of the falls. The lush vegetation makes this trail spectacular, and the mist from the base of the falls is a pleasure on a hot summer day. If you have time to explore only one of several waterfall trails along Route 138, make Watson Falls your priority. Parking is at the well-signed Watson Falls picnic grounds just off the highway. The trail begins at the south end of the parking area, crosses a forest service road and then continues uphill. The picnic area features informative signs about the falls and basic his & her non-flushing “pit” toilets. I was here about 10:30am on a weekday in mid-July and there were no crowds. Watson Falls provides excellent photographic opportunities

What a wonderful place to visit. I met a friend that took me to these falls! They are breath taking! Well worth the drive

Just off the highway, park the car in the lot and take the quick path up to the falls. Will do it again when company comes to visit.

We stopped at WAtson Falls on our way back from Crater Lake. There is a small parking area. The hike begins once you cross the street. We only made it to the lower falls, but it was a very nice hike on a very warm day.

This has a great waterfall view. Great trail to the waterfall. Easy access. Family and pet friendly area.

A place to walk in the woods up a path, make sure you stop & smell the flowers & watch all the greeny that is growing plus when you get to the end of the path enjoy the water falling down. Beautiful!

Watson Falls is the highest falls in southwest Oregon at 293 feet and the third highest in the state. By walking . 3 miles you reach a wooden bridge which provides aan excellent view and a bench; however, by walking the extra .1 mile there is a view of the upper portion of the falls at the end of the trail. The level of difficulty is considered to be moderate so there is some climbing involved, but the falls are well worth the trip.
The falls are located near milepost 60.5 on Hwy 138. At that point turn south on Rd. 37 and see parking on the right.

Good signage from HWY 138. Parking lot is really big! Pit toilets. There's some information boards as well. You can actually SEE the falls from the parking lot!
Moderately strenuous IMO. Trail is rocky & on a constant incline until you get to the bridge. The upside is you're hiking alongside a swift running creek.
Low flow waterfall in August & I wasn't really impressed. Probably looks better in Spring with better flow & less foliage. Cross the bridge & turn left to go up closer to the falls or go right to the parking lot.
One of four waterfalls we visited that morning & the one I liked the least.

This short - maybe 1/4 mile hike is definitely uphill going towards the falls, but its well worth it. The waterfall is huge and the basin is covered in lush ferns. There's no swimming around the falls but you can stand under it when the water is low and get soaked.
Beautiful Area.

Enjoyed our hike to these beautiful waterfalls. They are located about an hour to an hour an a half from Florence. Recommended!

Hidden gem, Must visit waterfall i southern Oregon.
The hike was easy and did with our kid.
There is very spotty network, so make sure you have GPS.

Did the short hike (about 1 mile rt) with my kids. Definitely worth it. We were on our way out from two nights at Crater a Lake. Original plan was to drive Rte 138 from Roseburg to Crater Lake, but the north entrance to the park was closed due to forest fires. We ended up driving it on the tail end of our trip instead. We stopped at four falls: Clearwater, Watson, Whitehorse and Toketee. All different; all amazing.

It is the one we stop at most often as it is only about 40 miles from our home, but all of them are beautiful. You can see a little bit of Watson Falls from the parking lot at the bottom in the summer and all of it in the winter without climbing to the top. A great day trip would be to visit all of the falls.

short easy trail to a nice waterfall around an hour from Crater Lake. Combined with Toketee Fall hike made it worth while. We went on a Sunday evening and had both trails to ourselves. Well worth it.

This waterfall requires about a ten minute meandering hike through beautiful lush forest. You can choose to hike just to the first viewpoint, or continue on for a different view. I recommend all views as each is different and beautiful. There are several waterfalls in this part of Oregon and everyone I spoke with agreed that this one was the most beautiful.

We always stop here on our way to visit Crater Lake. It is a notable waterfall as the highest in SW Oregon and third in the state plunging 293 ft over the edge of a basalt lava flow. A moderate hike allows access to the base of the falls to experience a misted fern arena. Beautiful.

Stunning waterfall definitely worth the hike! You can hike up to the falls and then take the loop trail back.

Really nice maintained trail of moderate difficulty. A little tough on little ones, but a spectacular view once you make the 20-30 minute trek.

The drive up highway 38 is one of the most scenic drives in Douglas County. You follow the North Umpqua River which is beautiful drive. If you're hot and want to stop to get wet you can. Just remember this is a cold and beautiful river

High Value reward: Short loop trail, dense green forest, highest falls in Southern OR. TIP: Frames great pictures at base stream rocks or at the wooded bridge. So many falls nearby but save 20 minutes for this one!

It was a short hike up the hill but not too steep. The waterfall was beautiful and it was interesting how it plunges into the snow. We went in early Jan and there were absolutely no one on the trail. It is pretty far from Roseburg though (like an hr). It is almost to Crater Lake. If we have known the distance, we may not have driven out that far. Since we were all the way there, we drove to Crater Lake also.

One of many nice, scenic waterfalls along the North Umpqua River Highway. this one is just off the highway at milepost 61. Signs lead you to the parking area a short distance off Highway 138. Spring time is the best time to visit, but a early fall trip up here is also a must do to take in the scenery.

Very beautiful waterfall nice and cool on a hot day definitely worth seeing! It's a moderate walk about a quarter mile in and 1/4 Mile out.

Hike to falls is pretty much all uphill, but beautiful, mostly shadded, and not too strenuous -- maybe 20 minutes. Enough to work up an appreciation for the cool spray when you arrive and see the falls!

Watson Falls is just off of Hwy 138 witi a parking area and a picnic area. It is a nice place to rest, walk your dog or have a picnic. Also water and bathrooms. The hike is pretty easy for most people and easy for those who are fit or children. The trail is easy and well maintained. At the end of the trip you can go through the bolders to get up close to the pool or even hike to the top (not quite as easy.) In any case it is a real hit for kids and a good place to stretch your legs. We live in the area and have been there many times!

Visited in October and the water flow was not impressive. Looked more like a bridal veil than a plunge ... but, with water flow, could be impressive. The hike to the falls was really pretty. The hike is listed as moderate 0.4 hike with the falls being about 280 ft tall. You can approach this falls at the base.

As one who enjoys viewing and experiencing natural waterfalls, I have managed to visit quite a few in the area. The hike to these falls is still an easy stroll for me at 73. The last scramble to get near the base of the falls is somewhat difficult as the trail seems to disappear into a jumble of rocks. And those rocks can be slick from spray from the falls so care is needed if you choose to proceed. It is one of the taller and therefore impressive falls. Well worth the short day hike.
As I write this much of the Umpqua forest is ablaze. This watershed does not appear to be affected as yet. Hopefully it will not be. Unfortunately another favorite Fall Creek falls is likely impacted, according to the latest fire maps. Highway 138 is currently closed due to these fires.

It is a bit of a climb to see the waterfall but it is well worth the effort! Nature is so beautiful!

I can't limit this review to only Watson falls. There are 4 or 5 others that were simply outstanding. Watson is very easy - you needn't hike at all to see the falls, but the setting is very nice. Other falls along the Umpqua River highway had hikes from anywhere from a quarter mile to 2 miles. This is a wonderland of experiences in a truly exceptional place. Anyone visiting Oregon and particularly those heading for Crater Lake from Roseburg, should make it a point to visit the falls.

This is a short up hill hike to a sheer Basalt cliff water fall. The trail is well maintained and you can get to the bas of the falls walking over some rocks. Great hike to combine with Steamboat falls about three miles away. There are picnic tables along the creek to enjoy a lunch or a snack.

Nice walk up hill about 1/2 mile round trip or 3/4 to the upper viewing... Nice water i Late winter, early Spring... no real veiw from a distance, but truly a great walk for kids or nature lovers. WATCH for truck traffic!!!!!!!! The trail crosses a logging road just out of the parking area... frequent log and gravel truck traffic that just did 1 mile of 10% Grade THEY CAN NOT STOP, value your kids and dogs WATCH THEM!!!!! But then the trail is very very nice as it leaves the parking and roadways

There's a moderately difficult 20 minute, 400 vertical foot hike to the top. It doesn't lead to behind or underneath the Falls, but you get pretty darn close and very wet.

Gorgeous Waterfall and beautiful short hike to get there. There are lots of other waterfalls to see in this same area of Rt 138. This is the largest of all of them, and actually the largest in So. OR at 272 ft. Highly recommended!

This is a beautiful falls right off hwy 138. Its an easy walk from the parking lot to get to the falls for viewing. If you are adventureous enough you can get close enough to the falls to stand in its spray. I recommend going to the Toketee Ranger Station and obtaining a brochure of all the local falls. Several are right in the same vicinity.

Watson Falls is worth the short walk up from the parking lot. Watson Falls is one of many on Hwy 138. I believe that there are 7 or so.
Watson Falls is the tallest fall on Hwy 138.
Considering the paucity of snow this year I would recommend viewing no later that July at the latest.
Love it up there.

This is one of my favorite stops in S.OR if visiting Steamboat Inn. In the spring there are hardly ever others visiting the falls, which are a couple hundred feet tall. I call it the mini Multnomah Falls, which is Oregon's largest falls near Portland and always swarming with visitors. The short 1/4 mile trail to Watson Falls reminds me of a Japanese garden. Just love this place! Parking/trail well marked and there is a restroom at the parking lot.

Nice enjoyable hike to the falls. Don't forget to pack a lunch. The picnic area next to the water is very nice and cool on a warm day. Rest room has no running water.

Worth the walk to see these breathtaking falls. Just have to be careful not to slip on the damp moss if you are old and crippled up like me, lololol.

My 11 year old granddaughter ranked this is one of her favorite places in Oregon (behind the dune buggy ride at Oregon Dunes National Rec Area). The climb looked to be steep enough that I opted out, but the kids and my husband made it and said it was awesome!! I could see the top of the falls from the parking lot. This was the most crowded of all of the places we stopped at in Oregon--early Friday afternoon.

Not an easy access for some, but worth the effort. There is a first viewing area but you can keep going to get closer - great photo place.

A good hike navigating some stones, a bridge that crosses the stream, makes the destination well worth the stroll. There's always water here and the height of the waterfall makes a cooling spray year round. The upper path is available for the nimble, and the trail on the opposite side of the stream leads back to the road. A bit steeper, good shoes are highly recommended.

You can reaxh the waterfall with a moderate hike. If you are willing to do some rock scrambling, you can ecen reach the base pool. A nice break in our drive fron Crater Lake to Roseburg.

Easy hike to the falls and beautiful. Plenty of photo ops on the way to the falls. Interesting moss and lichens.

We stopped at Watson Falls on our drive from Crater Lake National Park to stay in Roseburg. It was a fairly easy hike in the woods and along the river to see a beautiful waterfall. Very green, lush landscape and huge trees!

Like walking through a scene of the Lord of the Rings, this place is enchanting. We had gone up earlier in the day to another falls and we enjoyed it but there is no comparison to this falls. The hike up to Watson falls was in itself amazing. We had a 6, 10, and 12 year old. The hike was moderate to difficult for them. There were some areas that were a bit narrow to walk through but other than that it is doable and so worth the views. I am surprised this falls does not have more reviews...it is so worth the time to visit and see this beauty.

We visited late August 2016, but we could still see the water falls. Not only that, but the trail to the falls was just magical.

Watson Falls is a great waterfall that is easily accessible. It is located just off of Hwy 138 on the way to Diamond Lake. The trail is a nice easy walk, with a slight incline to view the falls. For the slightly more active, you can continue up the trail to the top of the falls.

Watson Falls are breathtaking, especially if you can get up close enough to feel the spray (safely, of course). Walking to the waterfall is a dramatic experience in itself, past massive boulders that may have been hurled from Mount Mazama 7,700 years ago when it erupted to create Crater Lake. Luminous green woods line the winding pathway leading to the waterfall. A memorable experience.

Wear shoes for walking as we noticed people struggling with flip flops and sandals. Taking a bottle of water might no be a bad idea either. The trail is narrow and steep in parts and it is not an easy walk for some to the top of the trail for a great view. There are spots along the way to catch a glimpse of the cascading waters. The downed trees, ferns, rocks, and plant life are part of the walking experience. On the way down we ran across a red fern and an unusual find for us. We enjoyed a picnic in a quiet area where the tables are located.

This is a very impressive tall falls, but it is a good hike 370 feet up to get the best view. There is a spot about halfway up that you can scramble over large rocks to see the bottom, but the best view is from the top. The trail is narrow in places, but doable.

Young and old alike have enjoyed this natural wonder in our beautiful Umpqua National Forest. Great in all four seasons.

Great hike, beautiful plant life & landscape, medium to above medium trail, and relaxing. You can even get wet.

Watson Falls is one of many beautiful waterfalls here in our Umpqua National Forest. It is by far, the tallest among them. Watson Falls drops 272 feet and is the 3rd tallest waterfall in Oregon. To get to Watson Falls, you must drive over 60 miles East of the city of Roseburg. The hike is fairly short (About 1/2 mile) but is straight up the mountain. Definitely not a top choice hike for a person who is not in at least fairly good physical shape. That said, there are benches along the incline to sit and rest if you need to and the hike is a beautiful one. When I'm on a waterfall hike, I find it equally rewarding to stop and enjoy the surrounding environment, which is always quite breathtaking. I give this a 4 out of 5 because I disagree with certain reviews that call this the best waterfall in the Umpqua National Forest; it isn't. I think some of the lesser known waterfalls take that distinction. And, the lower rating also for the steep grade, simply because if you're out to enjoy nature, to meander along a bubbling creek side, and your mission is not to go for a full workout, but to commune with the moss and the trees, or to wet your toes in a silver pool at the base of a waterfall, I would recommend Grotto Falls, Susan Creek Falls, Fall Creek Falls, or "Little Falls" on Steamboat Creek.

The view is amazing! There is a lot of great things to see if you like the outdoors. The waterfalls are amazing!

Well marked trail, and a wonderful waterfall at the end. Kinda strenuous, but doable. The forest was beautiful and people on the trail were very friendly!

By all means you need to go to this falls. Very strenuous hike to the top, but well worth it. The view is awesome. Douglas county in Oregon has the best waterfalls in the country.

The hike up to Watson Falls is relatively short and not very strenuous. There's no need to climb all the way up to the upper viewing platform rather stay below the falls for the most impressive views. We walked slightly off the path as it emerged into the clearing beneath the falls and were stunned at their height and how the falls were framed by the impressive amphitheater-like setting. If you're looking for pictures this is a great spot as you can frame the falls with moss covered boulders and a small stream with tumbling water. There's plenty of parking with washrooms at the foot of the trail.
One note - I have no clue as to why Watson Falls is listed as a Roseburg attraction - it's more than an hour's drive east!

Day trip to see surrounding area, led us to Watson Falls. Beautiful green woods, ferns, flowing water from the falls running through the trails. Peaceful, serene, eye candy! The tall falls are a sight to see, mist, rocks, greenery all around. There are benches provided for you to sit and enjoy!

This trail is moderate but the top part is pretty steep. Fortunately it's not very long, maybe 1/3 mile or less one way. It's uphill all the way.
There is a cool wooden viewing platform that sits right out over the rushing creek. That alone is [almost] worth the hike! You can walk further but I did not.
The waterfall itself is impressive and tall. BUT . . . in summer, some of the view will be blocked by vegetation. I was there in mid May, and you can see in one of my photos that the trees are leafing out and already partially blocking the view.
That's a shame :-(
But it's a very pretty area and the day I was there I was the only person.
The parking area has a few picnic tables alongside the creek - very pleasant.

This waterfall is beautiful and is very easy to get to. You can take beautiful pictures of this waterfall and you can stand very close in the summer season.

The view of the forest and waterfall is worth the hike. We viewed late afternoon and the way the light played in the forest was glorious.

The Rogue Umpqua Scenic Byway tour book says this is a moderate hike, don't believe them! It's a tough and treacherous climb. Plenty of shade and places to rest on rocks and tree stumps. If you love Oregon forests, you'll love this trail. I made it to the point where there's a nice set of stepped falls and my husband went further up the trail to get the sheer drop view. We met lots of people climbing, at least 2 in their 80s. Bring water. Look for all the birds, fungus and lichen along the edge of this beautiful path.

Nice waterfall visit along the Rogue Umpqua Scenic Byway. There are a lot of waterfalls and places to stop along the way. This is the 3rd highest waterfall in Oregon and the highest in southern Oregon so worth a look. Park at the Watson Falls picnic area and then walk up the stairs to the road -- cross the road and then the trail begins. At the bottom you have green, moss-covered boulders with water rushing down and around them. Look up and you will see the main waterfall above. If you are pressed for time (lots to see on this byway!) go up to the footbridge that allows you to walk over boulders with rushing water, it's a lot of fun. nice waterfall and worth a visit.

This hike was amazing, very accessible hike. You start off from the parking lot and have to cross the highway to access the actual hike. The hike its self was spectacular! If you are adventures and like to get to the bottom of the hike, you have that ability to get down the fall!

Great short hike for the family, bathrooms and picnicking area as well. One of many along the beautiful north Umpqua highway. Often times crowded because of the easy access.

One of several relatively accessible waterfalls along the N Umpqua Highway. Restrooms at parking lot. Also check out Clearwater and Whitehorse and Toketee falls.

A little more strenuous than some might say, but lovely. Loop, or stair-free route available up the road about 50 yards.

This was a good stop along the scenic byway. We did not go to the upper lookout as we were pressed for time. Uphill trail to intermediate viewpoint. Nice falls though certainly not the most spectacular in the state. Worth a stop if you have time.

There are many beautiful falls off the North Umpqua highway. We stopped at the trail for Watson Falls because we thought it would be a quick hike at only a half-mile. We could hear the falls from the parking lot, so we figured it couldn't be far. We missed the sign telling us about the 370 foot climb. If we hadn't, we could have looked just above the sign and seen the falls, way above us. You don't actually need to take the last series of switchbacks that end at a viewpoint about halfway up the falls. There is a point about two-thirds of the way that actually gives you the best view of the entire falls. At 272 feet, the falls are spectacular even in August. They must be unbelievable in the spring. Overall, as good as Multnomah Falls in the Columbia Gorge, but make sure you're up for a steep and rocky trail.

This impressive tall waterfall is a great stop for all ages and fitness levels. Those who do not wish to tackle the short but steep hike up to get closer can enjoy the view from the parking lot.

We went here in April, not all the snow was gone but this waterfall had a clear path. Hike isn't bad if you go slow. The falls were full since the snow melt had started. Makes a nice photo.

This was one of the greenest places I have ever seen on earth. With falling water, rocks, ferns and moss. There was a short hike uphill to the falls from the parking lot. There were so many great shots along the way as the streams below, that are generated by the falls, were so serene and peaceful.
The giant boulders full of ferns and moss were beautiful. We did this on the way to Crater Lake National Park. Our drive on this road (HWY 138) from the coast to Watson Falls was lovely.

Beautiful falls, nice easy hike. There are numerous falls on the North Umpqua River to combine into a full day of easy hikes and great scenery. Toketee Falls, Watson Falls, Clearwater Falls to name a few. The drive up the river from Roseburg is worth it by itself.

My wife and I found this water fall off of Oregon 138. This road is beautiful, we were heading east from Roseburg Oregon. This road travels along the Umpqua River. There are many beautiful stops along the way. Watson Fall is a short hike along a very scenic stream. The trail is well maintained. The Waterfall is tucked into a giant hillside, very cool.

it's an uphill climb, but not too long and it's the second tallest waterfall in Oregon, so you really should go see it.

Went to the top. Gradual incline. Worth every step. After we got down to the parking lot realized we could see the top from the parking lot.

I am 57 and have lived here all of my life. I have visited Watson and other waterfalls in the area off and on over all of my life. They are spectacular. As a young girl I remember thinking "this should be in National Geographic." If you want a really uplifting experience, go to the chamber of commerce in Roseburg, pick up a pamphlet on local waterfalls, and prepare to be transported to a breathtaking world of nature's wonders as you visit these places.

Beautiful view . Recommend! Family hike with 2 yr old. Worth coming here. Mid April family trip 2025. Would come again for sure.

If I could see only one of the three (Susan, Toketee or Watson), this is the one. Just incredible bang for the buck altho you have to earn it with some elevation. It is just so lush and green and you get to see/hear running water for much of this joy ride.
When you get to the mini rapid area where the water cascades all over the place in mini channels, it's just fabulous. Take a moment to soak it all in. Next up is the bridge area, take your time walking across and don't forget to look up. I almost didn't. Of course I filmed the entire thing so sometimes my eye doesn't see it all.
And then there's that one long but fun switchback before you finally head to just below the falls. It was a bit windy that day so I was getting a little bit of the spray. And there certainly wasn't any sitting down on the bench as it and the ground were soaked. What a beauty this falls is; makes an interesting sound when it hits bottom too.
The hike down takes no time at all and I was sad for it to come to an end. Almost worth doing it again right then and there. All I can say is "ENJOY!"

A short hike from the parking lot to an amazing fall. If you plan to visit this fall, make sure to pay attention to the highway signs for the three other nearby falls. You could find information on all of these falls on the map from the Watson Falls parking lot. enjoy! worth doing it!

It is a nice easy hike with a few uphill climbs. The trail is very nice and maintained. The waterfall was awesome and there is a nice place to view the falls from.

Super fun! This was a bit of a hike but it was fun and not too hard. Just remember to wear hiking shoes or tennis shoes. It's refreshing on a hot day!

Located on the North Umpqua Highway, one of the prettiest drives in Oregon. Clean restroom, nice picnic tables some right next to Watson Creek, and ample parking. Falls can be seen from the parking area. A 1/4 mile walk takes you to the falls but it is steep. Well maintained though with no troublesome spots, just very steep. The drive from Glide to Crater Lake is very scenic with many pull outs and stop points. Be sure to visit Clearwater Falls a short distance up the road.

There is a nice picnic area to eat at. Has adequate parking. The trail has quite a few stairs but is well worth the beauty of the waterfall. The waterfall also has a great spot to have your family stand in front to get a photo. Go if you have a chance you won't regret it.

We did not stop this trip but have been here before, it is a beautifull area. We decided to expend our energy at Toketee Falls instead since it is quite a trek to see the falls.

Truly did not think I'd be that impressed, however, the hike though short was beautiful. The wooden bridge made a great group picture with the falls in the far background. I was amazed how tall the falls was. The water seemed to fall forever and it was quite beautiful!

beautiful hike after a lovely drive. not for the faint of heart as it is fairly steep going. i highly recommend planning on seeing a couple of other falls to make the drive worth it. im not in great shape but can easily hike watson and toketee in a day. clearwater and whitehorse are out that way as well and are super easy access (no hiking) so make a day of it. best flow in spring time which is less hot and crowded also our favorite is april/may.
as a side note, you can view the falls in the distance from the parking lot. something we totally missed on our first few visits.

These falls are worth the short hike up the hill. We were lucky to be there on a day when few others were around. So when we got to the falls we had them to ourselves.

beautiful waterfall, especially in the spring with the large amount of water coming down. Make sure you take a camera and hiking shoes

Beautiful falls, easy hike up the hill, about a mile. Wonderful views from the top. We stop here every time we go to Crater Lake.. Great place for a picnic. Not recommended for handicap person to go up the trail, it is a little steep, the parking area is quite pretty. Good place to stop for lunch. Parts of the falls can be seen from the side road

What do I mean by wet? When you get to the top of the hike, you get to cool off from the spray of the waterfall hitting your face! It is a hike mostly up hill to get to the fall, so the water spray is very refreshing. Easy hike to see the falls, definitely a good hike to do the same day as Toketee Falls.

Well worth the hike on a steep 0.5 mile trail to the base of the falls, the third highest in Oregon and the highest in southwest Oregon.

This is a spectacular waterfall with a nice viewing point. The walk is beautiful and a little long but you will be rewarded.

Nice rugged hike up to the falls. Not for the faint of heart, but well worth it. Amazing view from all around doesn't even look like it's real it so beautiful.

I have been visiting Watson Falls for 40+ years and recently paid a visit which prompted me to urge any and all who enjoy a very moderate, forgiving "hike" {more of a walk...} and wish to enjoy an amazing waterfall in impressive geologic surroundings to put this place on your "must see" list!

Short 0.4 mile hike through lush forest. We went in November which was great, but my oh my, lotsa water in May after the wet wet winter

It's beautiful along with Clearwater Falls and /Whitehorse /falls in Hwy 138 between Diamond Lake and
Roseburg.

little known, fun hike and unbelievably clear water in the streams by the picnic area. not such a fabulous outhouse, but it's keeping in with the pristine location. take your hiking stick and camera.

It's a bit of a hike up to the base of the falls but definitely worth the effort. I wouldn't recommend it to some of our seniors.

This is a short easy hike to see some beautiful sites. When I got home & shared my pictures, my family said this looked just like a postcard.

This was the third falls to see on our trip home from Crater Lake. I've had 2 knee replacements in the past year with the right being just 6 weeks prior. If you have walking problems this is not the falls to go see because it's over a 1/2 mile up hill. Even when we got to view area we couldn't see it all without having to climb rocks for better viewing.

Its a long drive from Roseburg. Kids got frustrated but its worth it when particularly you hike to the fall. We as a family loved hike and enjoyed the path to reach there.

There is a large parking lot at the start of the hike to the falls. The hike goes through a wonderfull forest with lots of mosses, large trees and flowers. The falls are very nice.

A few nice look out spots after a short hike. Great stop-in parking with low traffic. Little rock scramble for a more adventurous hiker at last vantage point.

Beautiful and located right off the highway. Always take out of town guests here on our way to Crater Lake. The hike is not strenuous, but is it a trail that is not always groomed. Not recommended for those mobility issues (for them I would recommend Susan Creek Falls)

Watson Falls is a great place to have a picnic lunch and take a few photographs as you travel up the scenic Umpqua Highway. At the end of the trip you arrive at Crater Lake National Park. The lake is one of the most unique bodies of water in the world. Take time to do a trolley ride around the entire rim of the lake.

This was by far the best out of the 4 falls we vistied. Natural Falls was the next best. The walk to Watson Falls was a climb but just being able to view so close spectacular! Well worth it.....

We love this short but steep hike. It is not only good exercise, the scenery is always lovely. We like to pack a picnic lunch to relax over after the short workout.
Watson Falls water full
The best time of year to visit Watson Falls is the spring time when the snowmelt fills the waterfall. Most of the wildflowers were finished when we visited. Our friends loved getting wet at the overlook.
