MRLS (Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca) is my home track and I could not be happier with it. Legendary turns like the corkscrew and turn 9 make it both technically challenging and a great course to go 10/10ths on as it's much safer than it was back in the 70s and 80s. The one enormous downside (which generally doesn't effect me) is locals have decided to encroach on the track and enact overly restrictive decibel limits (90 dB). So, if you're looking to do an HPDE or competition here, in your straight-piped race car, you're gonna have a bad time.

I came to California for the Concours D' Elegance. I thought the best way to start was to go to the pre-reunion race. There is also a race at the other end of the week-the reunion. This is the best way to go. First, costs were $25.00 for pit passes, which you MUST have so that you can see the exotica before it goes out on the track. Although I was told on the phone that it would be $25.00 a ticket for general entry, they waived that, and it was free to watch! Take comfortable clothes, good hiking shoes, hat, shades, liquids, and a smile as you would to any road racetrack. This one has some significant hiking around, which is the only way to appreciate the racing. It is important to view the cars during different aspects of the course. Take some singles,as there are little jitneys which will take you from place to place if you get tired-free,but there is a donation cup for the Veteran groups that provide the drivers. The people were friendly, but not nearly as party oriented as I have seen at other tracks. The views are spectacular, and so are the cars. Make sure you bring your own liquids and food, as the general track food quality is "eh",though to be fair,I didn't partake.

If you have never watched a race at Laguna Seca you are really missing out. We won some tickets at a silent auction and had a great time at the ALMS race. They race all kinds of vehicles there from classics to motorcycles.

A Great Experience, Great Opportunity. All Things Racing, various schedule of events thru out the year to satisfy all Racing enthusiasts. Food , Drink , souvenirs, Location. Worth the Stop

As long as the weather is good and the wind stays calm you will have a great day. Great viewing everywhere and some spots are practically touching the track. Top of the hill above turn one has the best views. Love this place. It's worth the 750 mile drive.

We have been coming here for years. It was disappointing this year that the event program wasn't included in the ticket price and cost an extra $15. We always come early to avoid the late morning/early afternoon crowds in the paddock area.

By Jlhavlin |

This was our first year here and it took us a good 30 min to find where we needed to go to just get in. Once your in it easy to just walk around and find your way but it would be nice to have more seating areas and bathrooms (not Porta potties.) We did have to ask one person where to go once inside because the maps given didn't show everything very well.

We have been attending various races at the Laguna Seca tract since 1970.

Something for everyone, one can sit in bleachers or bring your lawn chair and awnings or umbrella and sit at various sections of the raceway.

Free activities, a selection of food, games and a mini tract for kids to ride on.

Long fun filled afternoons at the park.

Just spent the weekend at the MotoGP race and .......WOW what a track. Any motorsport event would be worth seeing here, but if you are into bikes this is a must. Booked into the VIP Village through Pole Position Travel and was not disappointed. Cannot thank Gordon Howell enough for a really great weekend.

I've tracked at Buttonwillow and willow springs...Laguna Seca is so so so much more.

Iconic and historical for a reason. More speed, as well as technical. Incredible scenery, although I really didn't notice background till the afternoon!

Not any facilities open on this slow day with only alan berg club car/ formula cars tracking. Alan berg racing school does a terrific job for streetcar track time.

I ran low on gas, pumps onsite weren't working. Fuel is 10 minutes away...no worry. Next time I'll refuel at lunch.
Yes yes yes

We went to see the track but were more entertained by the literally hundred squirrels running everywhere.

I visited Laguna Seca for the 2018 Spring Classic. Standard parking was close to the track. There are walking tracks around most of the circuit allowing you to take in each corner. The grand stands are opposite the pit building and at turn 4 with plenty of seats and admission included in your ticket price. This circuit is a must for fans of motorsport.

I've been privileged to live on the Monterey Peninsula since 1990 and I always take the time to try and make at least 1 race a year to this amazing track. You can walk the entire track and see the races from many different vantage points either inside or outside of the track. Start at the grandstands and walk up to the famous Corkscrew to get spectacular views and feel like you're a part of the action! There are different types of racing most of the year from high tech fast cars to historics, to Indycars and everything in between. You can also attend special race days and bring your own car and drive this amazing track. Not to be missed for true race fans or someone just curious and looking to add to their bucket list to try new things.

Parked our RV trailer here for the weekend. Place is quiet with bathrooms and showers. It has water and electric hookups, and nearby dumping station. Beautiful place to camp, yet gives you access to the Monterey Bay!

By Willem 🇳🇱 |

Laguna Seca, for car and bikerace fans ...... this is such a nice place to visit, a race fans heaven, close to Monterey, hour and a half from San Fransisco, walk to the Corkscrew and see moves that you thought a bike or a car couldn't do ..... i have seen Inycar, AMA Superbike and World Superbike .... and had the time of my life, be sure to get a paddock pass, to see and talk to all your heros !!

By 1alwaystraveling |

So much history and it was just a pure pleasure to see this historic and still prominent raceway first hand. Beautiful location and the track really is quite larger than it looks on TVs and video games. Gives you a true perspective of the place and how truly fast the vehicles must be traveling to make up such distances in such minimal time. If you are a race person, this is a must see place once in your life. If you a nature lover, you will also have jaw dropping views of the valley area and forest. Completely understand why RVs were created now, as this raceway is the perfect way to use one! Took a friend's new vehicle to break in (driving there, track was closed for maintenance for upcoming event) and route there (from LA) was an excellent way to do so.

By Ppatb67 |

Great venue, has a more intimate feel than a lot of the big international race tracks. Plenty of good places to watch the racing.

By Anna R |

Came here for the classic car show and the cars were beautiful and the food and atmosphere were great also

By Keith G |

Iconic and legendary race track. Take the family for a great time. We went for Monterey Historic week and it was incredible. Nuff said!

By LeoTheGreyCat |

When they run a professional race, it gets expensive (approximately $40 to park, ~$80 entry fee) and very crowded. We have friends who do SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) amateur racing. It's very expensive for them - to own or rent the race cars with the safety equipment, the fire retardant suits, entry fees. However, for us pit crew members, we don't have to buy a ticket, and without the crowds, we can view the races from any stands or hilltops. Whether it's a professional or amateur race, it's a great course with some outstanding viewing locations.

By 05Crew78 |

Paddock close to pits ... like the track elevation changes (at the corkscrew)! Close to senic area of Big Sur.

By Linda I |

You love races, come here. Great races, beautiful surrounding areas to view and visit.

By Jessgreen |

My husband and I visited the track from Monterey Bay and was delighted to be able to drive around most of the track from the outside. We are both big motorbike fans and have watched many MotoGP and WSB races at Laguna Seca on the TV. We were disappointed that we couldn't see the corkscrew but still enjoyed every minute and it was free! We only wish that MotoGP could return to Laguna....what a race track!

By James S |

We bought an auction lot that included a weekend at Laguna Seca with a personalized tour with Chris Cook, a professional driver extraordinaire. He was not driving on that weekend so he had an entire day to show us around and introduce us to a handful of the drivers. Everything is open here, it felt like we had full access to the whole experience. The track is amazing, the corkscrew turns being our favorite. Even for non-race fans, it was an amazing weekend and a whole lot of fun.

And one thing; PLEASE DON'T BRING SMALL CHILDREN OR INFANTS. What are people thinking? The ear damage? Like taking kids to a Who concert back in the day. Just don't do it.

By FADuenas |

It was once called Mazda Raceway and now it's called Weathertech Raceway. Either way this place does have some great events. During large events be prepared for heavy traffic. And like most other places with this type of venue, food and drink will be expensive. Another nice feature if there are campsites on premises available for a reasonable fee with facilities to include restrooms and showers.

By Al S |

Always has been a dream to watch a race here, walk down the corkscrew and see it in real life, not just the video game! Almost had the chance to ride the track, but that plan fell through. Still an amazing track and can't wait to get back there! Bucket list!

This is one of the most Historic & Beautiful Motorsports Road Course Racetracks still in operation today.

By MalCribb |

The race track has been around since the 50's and it never fails to produce some of the best racing world wide, So many places to watch the races from and a great selection of corporate viewing areas as well. Access to view the race cars up close and a great selection of memorabilia.

By uli1 |

Great spot loved the set paddock setup and the casual atmosphere went to the Rolex historic races . lots to see

By Rod |

Laguna Seca Raceway is a great racing venue, the various types of racing divisions that come to the track, make it exciting venue for many different types of racing. Good overall racing, of course some a bit better then others, but exciting to watch the passing or attempts, as there are different areas to accomplish the pass. Also this is an excellent venue for the fans to watch a race, due to the layout of the track, and the accessibility for the fans to pretty much watch the race from any part of the outside of the track, as well as the inside, makes it a great place for the fan's. They have grandstands of course, but Laguna Seca is best experienced walking around the track during the race(s) to see from many different vantage points. The access to food and drink depends on the type of racing series that is there, but for example the Indy Car races has great availability to many vendors for a large selection of items for food, drink, and souvenirs. There are also a number of parking lots, and entrances to the track, so you can usually park pretty close to the track, the best entrance to use is from Seaside and come over the top of the hills, that will put you closest to the main starting line and pits. Overall a great venue, and if you have not seen a race there, worth the trek to experience ....

By Maca |

I’ve always wanted to go to Laguna Seca, and it was sheer coincidence that we drove past it. It cost $5 and we had a good wonder while the cars practised, it was awesome to watch them negotiate the corkscrew!

By Marshalsw007 |

Great circuit, plenty of undulations! Paddock was level so wheelchairing around was relatively easy.

By tttno1 |

I have been coming back to this track for years. It is probably one of the nicest road courses in the country. Ranks up there with Road America, Lime Rock..... The management has added small improvements for the fans just about every year. It is far different from my first visit in 1975. When coming to this track, be sure to bring a full range of clothes. There are days when it is hot, then there are days when it is cold and overcast. Sometimes you get that full range of weather in one day.

By Adam S |

Before our arrival I found on the web the Grand Prix of Monterey scheduled with high entrance fee. The plan was to omit the fee and only stick the nose through the fence anywhere to see few pieces of the track. luckily the gates were open, the payment was necessary only on the tribune entrance so we could ride along the track and have a view on 5-6 corners. Really satisfying to see and hear those racecars in their natural habitat. Shame there was no "The corkscrew" in sight though.

By shanec |

My friends and I stopped in to see the famous Laguna Seca Raceway and were quite surprised to be able to drive right into the facility. You had to pay about $8 entry but we had much more access than we thought we would have. Of course you could not get on the actual track but you could drive all around it and get up close to the famous Corkscrew. There is also a very nice gift shop with friendly staff in the in field. Great visit and much better than expected.

By caAGguy |

Takes a long time to get in and out with traffic. Place is massive and you can explore all day. If you can get into pits do it, lots of cool cars to see.

By hokiejoint |

We went on the final day of the racing week, really enjoyable to see all the classic cars from years gone by still being used competitively. Good venue for spectators with excellent views of most of the circuit from the beer tent adjacent to the world famous corkscrew. Access to all of the paddock to see up close the classic's of yesteryear, a good venue and great event.

By FoodieCrew |

Awesome event for all bike aficionados... bicyclists and vendors from all over the world come to join this great event... special kids play and skills area... fun for all ages

By MonocleTraveler |

We just got back from the American LeMans Series - zoom, zoom baby! We've gone 2 years in a row, and are planning on being a regular! Plan your trip early - hotels in the Monterey/Salinas area are booked solid for the event. The weather is unpredictable - hard to tell if if's going to be cold and foggy or sunny and hot - bring changes of clothes, comfortable walking shoes, sunblock and earplugs - don't forget your camera. Spent 4 days taking in as many events as possible. Porsche, Alpha, Corvette, CTS, BMW, Ferrari, Mazda, Jaguar, Volvo and more. It's the rush of adrenaline when the cars race past - the smell of the fuel and hot tires on the track and the roar of 500 hp. Can't seem to get it all out of my mind ...

By Bob H |

Went very smoothly this time. Parking was straight forward. There were plenty of porta-potties in all areas.
I was here for the MotoAmerica Superbike race. The event was well organized. I was lucky on Saturday as it did not get hot like usual. The Corkscrew had the only shaded areas where the rest of the track is open to the Sun.

A Great Day for Automobile Enthusiasts, Great Races, Sights, Sounds, Food & Pro Shop , Excellent Location, on the Monterey Peninsula

By Rich V |

We stopped in coming from Monterey since that was rained out. Easy to come in, no fee. Has plenty of viewpoints to check out and sits on a national forest for a nice view. There was an AMG workshop day so the Mercedez were learning autocross and running the track.

Laguna Seca hosts a variety of events from the recent Posche Reunion to the Sea Otter Classic (bicycles) to Motocycle Grand Prix. It is central to the Monterey Penn. and has a great location. It offers campgrounds and picnic day use for the RV travelers, nearby Golf opportunities and the beautiful Central Coast. Monterey Bay activities are just minutes away as well as the River Road wine trail.

By Sandinmytoes60 |

We went to the American Le Mans Series race in September and had a fantastic time. There was a 6 hour enduro on Saturday and it was great! The staff at Laguna Seca is outstanding. We needed assitance getting around and they were there with a cart any time you needed them. This made our two trips very enjoyable and while we go to Infineon for NASCAR and he NHRA we found the staff at Laguna Seca more helpful.

We went back for the Rennsport Porsche Reunion IV in October and it was the event of a lifetime. 350 racing Porsches spanning the racing history. They brought museum cars out for this one! There were 1100 Porsches in the various corrals and I'm sure I will never see anything like this again.

By Derekh1 |

When driving down to LA I drove over to Mazda raceway the drive to the track was great through really nice country side.
On the day we went there was motor bikes on track and that made the morning spent even better, what a fantastic track and location will be back for some on track action in the future as looked fantastic.
THis is a must for any petrol head in the area for sure as me and my son loved it

By Vicky Silve |

Motorsport is my favourite sport, so when I happen to be near a circuit I like to visit it. And how couldn’t I visit Laguna Seca, with its legendary Corkscrew? It’s possible to walk on the whole perimeter of the circuit. A little tip for future visitors: this area is very hot, so bring water with you and wear a hat!

By Sheri R |

We have been going to the motorcycle races at Laguna Seca since 2003. If you love racing this place is for you!! It has good facilities, track viewing, vendors and many different events going on the entire weekend. The best way to go is to pony up the extra cash for a suite or the famed Premier Pit Row Suites. You get gourmet breakfast and lunch, all the snacks and beverages (including beer, wine & of course Red Bull) you want, reserved seating, private bathrooms, closed-circuit flat screen TVs so you don't miss any of the action plus free souvinours. AND if you purchase the Premier Pit Row Suite tickets you are sure to get autographs from your favorite riders or race car drivers and teams. Last July, during MotoGP I got to meet Valentino Rossi!!!! It's the only way to go!!! If the smell of racing fuel and revving motors doesn't get you pumped up then the paddock girls surely will!!! Tons of fun for everybody!!!!!! DON'T MISS IT!!! =)

By Mark W |

This is the greatest race track in the best area of California! A must visit location. The world famous “ Corkscrew “ is a great place to watch from. The paddock access is also great being so close to all the teams.

By HospitalityPros |

So many options for viewing you're favorite race cars along this well thought out track it's a no brainer. With a little bit of advance planning, grab a campsite and stay the weekend. Food concessions are plentiful, bathrooms convenient, a pit pass gains insight into the race teams and up close and personal with the mechanics and drivers. My family loves this place even during the off race season as a place to escape the city and enjoy the distant views, weekend race clubs, abundant wildlife and quiet evenings by the fire.

By sharkyboy111 |

Wonderful weekend at Weather Tech Championship with Wayne Taylor Racing, as always an honour to be a guess Wayne Taylor and his family at my favourite U.S race track in this absolutely stunning track with the world famous corkscrew corner and beautiful Californian weather!!

Always leave here with desire to return again next year for my sixth consecutive visit!!

So thus review is for both hooked on driving and Mazda Laguna Seca raceway. First of all I would like to say I love doing track days with hooked on driving. Hooked on driving is a little more expensive than other track days but the schedule and the other drivers are second to none. It was my first time at mazda lagunaseca raceway I was really nervous at first but the instructors from the bong driving really helped me overcome my fears. The track feels really safe because there is a bunch of gravel in the runoff. The facility was clean but a little out dated. Another good thing about Laguna Seca is that there is plenty of camping. If you're going to Laguna Seca don't worry if it's foggy and wet in the morning the fog will burn off quick and the track will dry up by 930 10 o'clock.

By Chiefly1 |

I'm actually in an RV campsite overlooking the racetrack across from the bleachers and the views are superb. Take a Mazda for a spin on the racetrack or just visit the gift shop.

By John P |

This is more of an events center than what the title suggests. There are a variety of attractions throughout the year here but it is a historic icon raceway for auto racing events as the name implies.

By MGCPH |

If you are interested in motorsport, you must drop by when you are in the neighborhood! The Corkscrew is just amazing!

By ryanpeg |

We spent the weekend at Laguna Seca for the World Superbike and Motoamerica races. Everyone was great. Thank you for hosting such a fun event and making it easy to be there!

By TravelAttorney |

The Corkscrew is the most renowned segment of any race track in America. Whether you go for IndyCar, Vintage races, or motorcycle races, it provides great spectator views and exciting racing for the competitors.

By Shalom C |

Nice facility! Very organized on the parking and good food! Wish the seating had backs. The shop is very diverse and people working were friendly. You can move from seating area to area so if you want to see a certain view you can find it!

By Pam K |

Best bike show in the US with amazing racing and booths for all! This is my 5th year and it never fails to impress. There are displays, wonderful food and demonstrations to keep you entertained.

By Terrence T |

This racetrack is still one of the finest road courses in the nation. With a new commitment from the management and new sponsorship of the track there seems to be some movement in the improvement area. I see a lot more maintenance of the infrastructure of the track and some basic improvements for the comfort of the attendees. The racing is always great so there is no need for improvement there. I have been going to this track since 1979 and it is refreshing to see the changes being made today. The racing has always been great but the comfort of the fans seemed to be a distant second. That is slowly changing. Looking forward to next year!

By granpaganks |

Me My wife and granddaughter were staying in Montery and with being so close to Laguna Seca raceway just had to pay a visit. On arrival there was a hive of activity with workers preparing the track for a big event in a weeks time, never the less we enjoyed just being there having watched many races on television of the track with the corkscrew and reminders of Rossi and Stoner fighting for position on the corkscrew. it was awesome being there with so many memories. Just wish more races were there today.

By patricia b |

You do not have to attend any specific race to enjoy the track. There are always something going on there. Been racing there myself, but this time it was for visit, and the corkscrew is giving you a quick, even just only watching. The blind curv also. Go there just to enjoy. This time the Porche club was racing. You get in for free and can walk around when its private arrangements.

By Marie F |

We called by having no idea if we would even be able to get in, not knowing it is much more than just a racetrack. We were on our honeymoon for 3 weeks in California touring and my husband wanted to see what we could see. He was not disappointed. For $8 at a gate we got to enter the area and drove up winding roads before turning up at the paddock. We were allowed in after signing a waiver. There was a driving club here using the track so the hubby got to wander round looking at awesome privately owned cars, they didn't mind at all and some were happy to talk about their pride and joy. The cars went off to race around and we watched them having fun before we went off to explore a bit. We went to the fast food station to get some lunch and it was really good. We had seen someone cooking food on a proper barbecue when we passed before so we knew they meant it when they said BBQ food. Not too badly priced either. We visited the gift shop and there was a huge array of clothing and gifts to buy, we picked up some gifts for the other petrol-heads in the family. We wanted to get up to the corkscrew if we could so we drove around until we found a service road up to it. No one minded as we parked the car up and walked up behind the fences to the famous corner. My hubby walked off to the marshals post to have a chat and I wandered up the hill for the views. When I got back I was greeted by a very excited husband who told me the Director of the track was at the marshals post and let him on the track and up the tower to see the views while cars were on a break. He was so happy, it was a huge moment for him and made his holiday. Not bad for a quick flyby with no expectations at all of what we would see.

By deepdiver52 |

Visit to World Superbikes. A great circuit where you have a number of good free vantage points. Don't pay for a grandstand seat as they are not worth it - loads to see from all parts of the public arenas.

By mini |

We were there on a non race day, but enjoyed seeing the amazing car race track area. We also purchased some T-shirts at the store, which is open, even on non race days. It was a very fun experience to see. It would be even more fun of course on a car race day.

By SuzC |

Whether you are a race enthusiast or not, this one needs to be on your bucket list. In addition to being a beautiful setting, there are tons of things to do besides watching the races while you're at Mazda Raceway. Lots of choices for food and beverage, even a wine bar and places to shop. What's really great about the course is that you can walk around -- see the cars and drivers up close in the Paddock, walk up the hill and look down at the whole race, or just enjoy a finish line grandstand seat. This is a kid friendly place for sure. The staff are all very professional and friendly and since most of them are volunteers, you get the feeling that they are just as happy as you are to be there.

By John M |

Supervised track days are available with serious instructional programs, but even the local public has a few chances a year to take laps around the track after contributing to a charity, which today was the Santa Cruz Symphony. After a brief instructional meeting, cars are grouped behind a guide car and negotiate the track at modest speeds, but you soon learn that driving this track is more difficult than it looks!

By Bhamill2 |

Stayed in the Chaparel campground. It doesn't have full hook ups. Just water and electricity. But you can dump at the dump station.

By Evilynn |

Great experience to watch races at this fantastic racetrack, good action at legendary corkscrew for both motorcycles and cars. If you get a chance join for a track walk, elevation change is crazy. Would love to come here for a motorcycle track day

By traveldentist74 |

This was my first time here. Came with my dad for Porsche Rennsport Reunion VI. Fantastic! Easy to find great viewing areas! the Corkscrew complex is very accessible. The Flagroom is worth the extra cost due to the food, view and restrooms!

By GP1357 |

We watched the practice for the Moto GP and really enjoyed the whole raceway experience. Everyone was so friendly and the track is a must see, great views, great location, great staff. All round great value especially compared to tracks in Europe, certainly in the UK you would not have had the experience we had. Food and gifts etc are expensive as you would expect at these venues.

By Flowerdog |

As a event laguna seca delivers. Great atmosphere, lots of extra stuff to do and see. Facilities are great, I'd like to camp there one day. Could use some big screens and abit more on track racing

By 3000calories |

The a gorgeous track with incredible views. You can see most of the track from numerous vantage points. Some of paths up the hill are dusty and it is easy to slip. Would like to see the track pave these and create steps. Also bathrooms could use modernizing. Speaker system is good and you can generally hear the announcers.

By James H |

Best international races in California. You can camp there and drive to the best viewing spots. You are allowed to walk into the paddock and often see top ranked drivers up close. I went to the IROC day and it was a blast for people who love auto racing.

By Jeff C |

Access to the paddock and ease of movement around the track. Food vendors are reasonably priced for the venue, and the beer garden was well priced with an excellent selection. Track announcers very informative about current events around the track.

By Linda R |

It was great. Visited the pits, got autographs and our picture with the Ferrari drivers. Had to go to the Corkscrew. The drivers are very friendly. Want to attend again.

By David OConnor |

Good family fun events can be found here. Motor GP to AMA Supercross to open wheel sports car racing. Favorite event is Sea Otter Classic in the spring. All ages and people from around the world attend and compete in various formats of racing or if you want casual riding, often with a pro. Inexpensive for all attending. Camping arrangements must be made months in advance. Traffic in and out of venue is lengthy and time consuming. Plan accordingly.

By Cyndrz |

This is such a fun event. Kids are welcome and get lots of swag, which they love. They have bike to try/demo or just look at the cool new stuff. Tto walk the bike parking lot and see everyone's bike is a show of itself. Ducati island is fab too... (big frogs in the water) grandkids loved seeing them. Camping there is sweet, they have electrical and water (no sewer) and nice areas. Folks are just friendly and happy. If you dry camp, there are almost no trees and it just looks hot up on the hill. This year is was beautiful, no issues, the fog burned off by 11 and it was great fun for everyone. The staff there is also great. They drive around and will sell firewood - so you don't have to haul it in...

By Marko H |

You can easily come to the track as a quest. The are some view points for taking some pictures. In the center of the track there is a store to buy some nice suveniers for the motor enthousiastics back home.

By Jcalzetta |

The raceway is in a natural setting with beautifulviews through out.
Car and motorcycle and bicycle racing and concerts are held there.
Camping sites accomodate large vehicles but no hookup services but nice clean bathrooms and picnic tables
Reservations recommended. Run by the Monterey County Parks Service.

By R E K |

This is one of the best places in America to watch cars and motorcycles go 200+ miles per hour...the track is very visible from most of the area and the track itself is challenging and well designed...you can go fast, but you need to know how to do well at Laguna Seca..... There is a racing school on the site, so if you really want to ...you can try for yourself....

By PeterAZ |

This three day event held in conjunction with the myriad of other events during Monterey's world famous car week in late August is not to be missed for anyone with even the most remote interest in motor sport. Hundreds of racing cars in dozens of different classes come from not just all over North America but as far away as Australia. You can see the entire history of car racing in one weekend or just one day if you are pressed for time. Even if you're not a racing aficionado this is a very entertaining event. The racers and teams in the pits are open to everyone and all are very friendly and happy to talk to you and pose for pictures. The track itself is both picturesque and challenging especially it's famed "Corkscrew" series of reverse camber downhill S-bends.

By Jim M |

Friendly staff at this fantastic track. It really feels like a small town track and a step back into time. I was very happy with the charm. The antiquated restrooms are in need of an update to say the least

By Charleygirl76 |

Staying in nearby Monterey and hubby had to see this place in the flesh. As a speedway and race fan it's a must. We arrived a Saturday morning just as classic cars were leaving. Allowed to park up and walk the track . Got as far as the famous corkscrew bend. Took a lot of pictures. He showed me you tube footage so I could share in his excitement.

By TravlinWoman |

They have handicap parking
There are trolleys that will pick you up in the parking lot and bring you down to the entrance(not required, but a donation is appreciated).
It is loud and crowded, my kind of place!
The only thing that is lacking is shade, any shade, because there isn't any.
It wouldn't stop me from going, but some shade would be really nice.
Hint, Hint
Have fun!

This amazing track bring so many memories from cars to motorcycle racing history ! now called WeatherTech reaceway.
I never missed a WSBK or MotoGP weekend since 2007 !
the camping environment is above awesome !

We went too wsbk during our honeymoon road trip ,and had a great day it cost us 75 dollars each for free parking ,entrance ,pit pass and seating ,British events take note. Compared to a lot of the tracks in the Uk Laguna is kinda basic but I liked this .Fortunately we like a walk which is just as well as its a good hike up to the corkscrew but amazing to watch the bikes there. We took our seats for the main event and end up sitting infront of a British couple lol. We then went to a talk show and got to see Kenny Roberts sr and jr as well as the great Wayne Rainey who were very entertaining ,all in all a very good day

Went to see the spring classic, fantastic day wandering round the pits and free courtesy ride to the top of the corkscrew. Great pub at the top of the corkscrew selling local craft ales.

One on the key factors in differentiating good venues from not-so-good ones is the manner (and manners) with which the crowd is accommodated. MRLS does this with aplomb, and with some of the nicest folks in the business.

As race tracks go, this one is exceptionally well organized, with perhaps the greatest array of viewing spots.

Perfectly situated near Monterrey and not too far from Salinas (the nearest In and Out Burger), this track offers far more to do and choices for restaurants than any other among the classic tracks here in the U.S.

By EdWhitby8981 |

Awesome classic race cars, super pit access combined with an exciting road race track - it just doesn't get any better. I recommend you spend a little more for the preferred parking pass. It allows you to park right next to the track, near the Andretti Hairpin Turn. Well worth the expense. I have already set aside the dates for 2016!!!

The track is first class-
It is one of the most legendary places in motor sports.
The lay out is great, the camping spots are nice and clean and well kept.
I cant wait to be back soon

Have watched the LeMans Series, Moto GP cycles & have always had a great time.

By Blondedawg |

This is a very up close and personal race track that never disappoints. We recommend buying a pass into one of the car corrals in order to have better seating. The hike to the Corkscrew should be done but it's very steep so not easy for those who have difficulty with uphill hiking.

Lots of people go to Laguna Seca to watch the racing. Been there. Done that. You probably didn't know that you can push your sporty sedan, or little Miata, or your expensive Porsche around the course. How's that? Look for the Hooked on Driving program at Laguna Seca...or any other race track where you want to unleash your Lewis Hamilton alter-ego. With guidance and coaching from staff, you can learn how to clip apexes, enter and exit turns, and floor the gas. Oh, and break hard, too! The purpose is to learn how to drive assertively using the car and the road without crumpling the sheet metal. At speed! It improves your driving skills while you are having a ball behind the wheel. Who needs driverless cars when you can have this much fun in your little pocket rocket? Remember: it's about driving safely, not racing. It's your ticket to making our highways and bi-ways more safe. Look for Hooked on Driving at a track near you.

Pay a lot of money to visit this track and area with overnight stays, visit to eateries, fuel stations, auto parts stores etc. Support the area business but this track visit rewards you with poor maintenance, toiletries not kept up, garbage cans overflow, poorly kept up for the greatest potential. Worst is their sound management, with periodic check for DB ratings that may or may not be accurate, our car was flagged several times with high DB and it does not exceed 84 db. They are not accountable for their actions and we will not return!

By lompicojoe |

Great attraction with plenty of fan interaction. Saturday and Sunday are the main events where you can meet drivérs, walk around the paddocks and voew the racing action of a number of great locations including " the Corkscrew" evening is time to relax in Monterey which is minutes away.

By Michael L |

Came upon this place by chance when heading to Carmel-by-the-sea, and as fans of motor sport had to have a bit of a sticky beak.

It was a non-competition day so admission was very reasonable at 5 or 10 bucks for the car, which gave us access to any of the public areas on the site.

The track is quite spectacular and visiting the famous 'corkscrew' was a highlight.

The facility is being renamed to the 'Weather Tech Raceway Laguna Seca' so any items in the gift shop which bore the 'mazda' brand name were going for a song. We picked up a couple of nice pieces like jackets and there may still be some bargains to be had.

The facility isn't hugely developed so if you were going for a raceday you want to be sure that you take everything with you that you'll need, from seating to suitable clothing.

After having seen this circuit on the tele for many years it was a thrill for us to stumble across it on our holiday and would say it's worth having a look at.

By tiedrose |

The facility is massive which is great to have lots of vantage points of different parts of the track. The garages can barely fit 2 cars with not much room to walk in, but it was nice to have cover for all of the cars.
The track itself is a bucket list track- a must drive for anyone into road racing. The flagging was great, track personnel seemed helpful.
The BBQ lunch at Crusin cafe was great. Reasonable prices for a pulled pork sandwich or platter that came with rice and a salad. Everything we had was very hot and fresh. For track food, it was above average.

I volunteer at the Pebble Beach Concours every year so can not attend the Historic races at the same time, however the weekend before the drivers are on the track for practice. very little crowd, time to talk with the drivers. Easy access and parking. Veterans operate shuttle to and from parking.

By 283JAMES444 |

So many facilities, almost all it seems these days, are so decorated with someone's idea of 'nice' that the core values are long gone. Those who idealize fancy grounds and in your face cosmetics might make them feel accomplishment but the core value becomes mute as the core people move in to more simple venues.

Real auto racing people know KISS, keep it simple stupid, and that it contributes to more successful racing. They also know hard work and getting dirty is a big part of it and are much more content at comfortable venues such as Mazda Raceway. The fancy gussied up facilities have no soul, no fan loyalty, just regiment and high prices driven by" make as much money as possible".

Those operating and the volunteers are absolutely to be commended. Surrounded by an area that is unique in the country, possibly the world, Mazda Raceway is a jewel, even visually as it displays the "as it was intended" better than any raceway in the country. The effects of modern 'gingerbread' is, thank goodness, missing.

Visiting Mazda Raceway for a true automobile racer is a step back in time, an up close and personal experience, one can mingle with hero's and winners as casually as at a fast food outlet, not possible at most facilities. Food outlets are 'Mazda Raceway specialties' and the lack of consumer labels totally delightful! For those visiting often, remembering the face of a vendor and striking up conversation is common. not an exception.

The excitement of driving for 8 hours to arrive at Mazda Raceway alone is enough, the excitement after arriving cannot be topped! Where can one wrap their fingers around the wire of a chain link fence and experience the thrill of race cars passing under full power, or maybe the best place in the world, the fence at the Cork Screw?

The short video of my 74 yellow roadster running' the Screw' during the track laps sent to me by one of the actual racers is priceless. Where do racers send fans video they can cherish? Mazda Raceway, Laguna Seca, is where this does happen.

From the heart and enough I hope?

If not I can say more, much more. LOL

Attended the MotoGP professional motorcycle races last year for the first time. I have been coming to motorcycle and car races at Laguna since the early 80's but this world class event is special. Motorcycled down the coast from Seattle and had a great time in Monterrey. The action on Cannery Row was almost as entertaining as the races. But the races.............ah, there is nothing like being there.

By Spartan58 |

My son-in-law and grandson invited me to attend this event - it was my first visit. The raceway event was very well-organized and the weather was perfect. We parked in the "Corral" zone and, to gain a better close-up view of the cars and their drivers, stationed ourselves at a vantage point on the "corkscrew" portion of the raceway. The paddock was easily accessible to the Information Booth, cars in categories, exhibits, drivers, and transport vehicles. Only one race was beset with spinouts, but the final race of the day was a nail-biter to the end. All in all, my first visit was a resounding success!

By Jeff J |

Much delays getting in and out of race track. Neighbors are ruining the race track. They make it difficult for specators to get in/out of in an efficient manner.

Great event! Lots of great spots to watch it from. Great directions, traffic and parking control. Getting out was also as smooth....

By Dave N |

MRLS, in cooperation with PORCHE NORTH AMERICA, did a wonderful job with hosting this important event. RENNESPORT V was a great celebration of PORCHE'S history. It was, for automobile enthusiasts, a wonderful weekend of people, racing, auto history, and appreciation of one of the World's great automobiles.

MRLS staff and facilities were at their best. Any person interested in automobiles, motorcycles, racing, and engine technology, should put an event at MRLS on their "to do" list. I am lucky enough to have visited the raceway for multiple events. Get there and have yourself a great experience.

Spectacular track and very technical. The cockscrew will take the wind out of you, and rewards when you get it right.

By Lornab73 |

We built the Laguna Seca WSB round into our road trip June 2018.

Expecting the traffic and queues to be like they are at the UK, we were pleasantly surprised no queues driving in or out.
Laguna Secs whilst a relatively short race track covers an immense area and has stunning views there are many places where you can see multiple.parts of the race track.
The Corkscrew is a sight to behold as the bikes come through, whilst we are so glad we came to this track and the people there were great. There was a distinct lack.of actual racing. Unlike the UK where your get about 6 or 7 races throughout the day here there was 1 on the nor ing then 3 in the afternoon... and whilst the racing we saw was excellent there just wasn't enough co.pared to home.
We took a survey during our visit as apparently there are some local areas thatvqish to close the track due to noise, air pollution and traffic. Think this would be a huge loss to both the racing communities that use it and to the local economy.
My only other comment would be the need for better directions esp if your gps does not work off latitude and longitude numbers.

My nephew and I went to the Porsche Rennsport Reunion VI at Laguna Seca. This was our third Rennsport event. Laguna Seca is an outstanding track with elevations, outstanding curves, like the fabled Corkscrew, and is surrounded by the beauty of Central California. It is one of my favorite racetracks, along with Circuit of the Americas and Spa Francorchamps.

By SeaCay62 |

Top notch facility, have been here 6 times now. Hosts great events.

Veterans shuttle for Rennsport Reunion V was fantastic. Thanks to all volunteers!

My fiance is an avid racing enthusiast and Laguna Seca was on his bucket list. So on our trip to Monterey, this was an absolutely must-see. The SCCA championship was there the weekend we were in town and we went on Friday. The entry fee was a steal, the parking was easy, and prices inside the gates were surprisingly reasonable. The best part though was that we had free range of the entire track and we walked up, down, and all over the grounds. It was astonishing how close we felt to the races. It was a true adrenaline rush even for a non-car person like myself. I had a great time! Everything there felt easy and fun, unlike a lot of sporting venues and events where you get frisked at the entrance and fleeced at the concessions stands. Everyone at Laguna Seca seemed in great spirits and it didn't feel at all crowded though the parking lot was certainly full.

By MCB |

Simply the most beautiful racetrack in the world. Probably the first track I have ever need to that had enough staffing, parking and food options. Top notch

By JRG |

Was here for AMG Academy. Track and surrounding area was beautiful. Good to get some speed and take on the corkscrew.

Known to many in the auto world, Laguna is an awesome historical place to watch see world class racing. Couple that with being in gorgeous Monterey County where there is so much to see and do when not at the raceway and the trip becomes much more than just a race weekend.

Laguna Seca Raceway is a World famous race track, known by enthusiasts around the world. Lack of investment by the charity group who owns it has relegated it to hosting increasingly less important events, but it is a great resource for us locals. I have been going since 1957.

What a weekend! Great track. Iconic. Sitting on the cork screw watching the riders flick-flack round the top and drop six storeys in a second was incredible. Had to stop at The Corkscrew Inn at the top of the hill. Great view and craft beer.

Can't fault the organisers. Traffic flow in and out of the circuit was a breeze.

Attended World SBK, Motoamerica event 7/8, 9 2017. Food was ok at best, the live feed monitor in our section was not working part of the time so hard to keep track of the race.

Don't know if it's how it supposed to be but to make it even harder to keep track of the race, the P.A. system was not operable in the outdoor reserved seating area.

To make things even worse, there were two track workers in our suite talking loudly during the races. Obnoxious, know it all types that couldn't stop talking.

At $599.00 a ticket, I'm sick I wasted $1200.00 for my girlfriend and I last weekend

A very nice track, very popular with both spectators & drivers alike. I competed there myself many years ago; lots of fun! Home of the famous "corkscrew"- now turn 8A- at the top of the hill, it's a very nice place to visit during one of the many events, both amateur & pro alike. Most events have lots of features- food/bar facilities, a paddock area generally open to visitors (but the racing pits are only open to competitors), a large VIP center, and plenty of trackside amenities as one might expect, and lots of parking; for some events camping facilities as well; RV's included. The Park Service runs the park facility but for track events SCRAMP is the organizer (Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula). Nearby towns include the Monterey Peninsula (Carmel, Monterey, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, Seaside & Marina. To the east is Salinas California. The track itself is located on Highway 68, but for some events there's a back entrance for which a map would be a good idea. There's also a public shooting range, but it's closed during track events. Dislikes? None that I can think of.

By Carl W |

We are race officials, and need to park about a 10 min walk from the paddock. And, that is getting there at 6am, if later, would have been more. They should have a shuttle service for early people. Track is exciting.

By Dave F |

We recently crewed for a team during the Monterrey Historics races during Monterrey Car Week. This place, loaded with history, is a wonderful setting that is great for spectators. The Monterrey Veterans provide taxi service in golf carts. They are all over. Hop on board and they will take you wherever you want to go at the track. Head up to the Corkscrew for some great viewing. Can't wait to race here myself.

By Justinthai |

I dropped by on a non-race day just for a look and had a look around - wonderful circuit with friendly staff. That corkscrew turn is awesome!

By Jilliangio |

Large racetrack that offers everything you could ever dream of. Lots of vendors and seating areas. Great views of the landscape too.

By Phil K |

This was my first trip to the raceway and I can say I was not disappointed. I am returning again in September and again next year for MotoGP. The GP may not be back again after 2014 so I am taking advantage now.

By Ossenfogva |

I've been around road racing most of my life but have never been here or Sonoma....until this week. Tv and photos don't do it justice. The racing history that was made on these hills and turns boggles the mind. I had to watch the AMG group circle the track, lap after lap, and after 15 minutes I was greener with envy than the grass on the hills, drought notwithstanding. Beautiful track and, much like Indianapolis, every gearhead worth his toolbox should see it at least once.

By David T |

Great track.

Best viewing vantage point end of start finish straight on outside of track near toilet block (which was locked when it definitely should not have been). No shade but good elevated viewing. Probably can see 50% of track here.

Parking poorly organised for general parking. A non sensical parking colour coding system used with no guidance as you drive in.

Exiting the track also is confusing as their direction arrows all easily blow over and chaos results.

Pit access reasonable.

Track is interesting layout. The famous "corkscrew" corner would be intimidating for a driver. Worth the walk to view it but not the best vantage point.

The historic meeting always attracts excellent cars. The driving is not quite as forceful as the English Goodwood Revival. But still very entertaining.

Monterey is severely overloaded during this race weekend. Expect heavy traffic and no vacancy signs.

It's a must do event for dedicated "Petrol heads".

4 days of Porsche at Rennsport Reunion VI hosted at Laguna Seca Raceway near Monterey.

This is a historic and wonderful track for spectators and participants. 2.4 miles, 11 turns and the famous 5 story downhill through the corkscrew turns.

There is overnight camping at the track and lots of nearby attractions if you need more. Lots of races and other events here. I keep coming back.

By Bill W |

I was there for the Reunion, as I have been many times before. I love the track especially at the top of the hill near the Corkscrew. the racing was great and the access to the paddock is unbelievable, where you get to stand next to the cars and talk to the owners and drivers. The facilities are pretty good. If you like sports car racing this is the place!

Spent the weekend at Laguna seca for the Porsche Rennesport event .It was an amazing event well staffed and the announcer said it was the biggest amount of collectable and vintage Porsche's ever In one place. Gorgeous weather fascinating cars.

By ID_Richeys |

The raceway needs more food & souvenir vendors for an event as big as this. Even with the huge crowds, the event was awesome.

By Bob H |

I spent two days( Friday and Saturday) last week for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports reunion. I had a great time photographing the vintage race cars at the Corkscrew(turn 8) and at the grandstand at turn 5. Plus, you get to walk through the pit area. Except for this year, I am able to photograph the Superbike races every year. It has been three year absence; but I did Moto GP when they came here.

By AJAhearn |

I am finally getting around to all the tracks I have been to over the last few years. So apologies for not writing earlier. This is such a famous and fun track. The proximity to Monterey coast line just makes it that much better. I have been to this track many, many times over the last 3 years. It is a challenging track but my Boxster S loves it. Traffic in and out of the track can be a bit difficult depending on the beach traffic but still well worth it. They do have a campsite but I have never availed myself of that option. Instead I stay in Monterey or some of the surrounding cities and enjoy the ocean.

By Keith S |

We attended the IMSA races here in April. This is a fascinating, technical road course- wonderful for drivers but just ok for fans. It can be challenging for fans to move to different parts of the track, however there are lots of shuttles to help. Lots of hills, and it can be hot and dry, and cold and windy all
At the same time, depending where you are at the facility. Getting in and out can be challenging as the circuit is served by only a tow lane road, and you have typical California traffic, which is astonishing to those of us from the Midwest. Everyone at the track- SCRAMP officials and fans where helpful and welcoming. A nice visit.

By user69 |

A great place for the race. While not nearly as long as the Nordschleife the Laguna seca offers simmilar excitement when it comes to adrenalin. I would suggest to rent an american car ( i rented a corvette zr1 for about 1000$ per day) to make the event trully magical. The corvette prooved to be a much better car than I thought, although still not comparable to lets say an sls amg, which feels much more "mature" on the same track.

By Michelle N |

Was able to start and finish my bike race on the raceway, just knowing of all the race cars that have driven over the same road makes you ride even faster. I am so excited to be able to be a part of this event, Sea Otter Classic and will continue to participate every year!

By Beemer54 |

MotoGP was awesome. They ran the event like a fine swiss watch. 62,000 people attended the main race on Sunday and everything ran smooth without any problems from the spectators. They knew how to run this event correctly without incident. I can hardly wait to go back next year!!!

By DS9MW |

I was at this track for the AMG Driving Academy. I will say watching it on TV, playing this track on a video game does not prepare you for actually taking a vehicle at high speed on this track.

Not only is the track a joy to drive, its intense yet provides such great scenery making it somewhat relaxing and less stressful. You're actually able to concentrate on what you need to do.

The track is nestled well thus just the right amount of breeze goes through.

The track is also huge providing enough space for multi driving events going on. One area was track, another area was skidpad driving, another area was braking, another area timed slalom, etc.

The track has clear and visible signs to get in, funny thing is getting out, there were no exit signs, I found myself riding around in circles when leaving, but taking in all the lovely views. They should put exit signs with arrows to visitors can find their way out. Navigation proved useless when trying to exit.

Great event and a great track.

We heard about rv camping at Laguna seca through someone we met. We just got back from staying 3 nights and it was great. We were in site 78 in the chaparral campground. The only draw back to the site was it was above the gun range and there is no sewer or cable at the sites. But for 37.00 per night and a 20 minute drive to Monterey and Carmel we were good! As you enter this campground the sites at the beginning are near to the showers. The restrooms are clean as is the grounds. Our site was shaded. The raceway was viewable at the rear of our trailer. My husband was in heaven as there was racing going on during the day. I think it was from the skip barber racing school. They were racing motorcycles. Anyways go during the week for less of a crowd. There is also another campground acrossed from chaparral that offers hookups too. It is situated farther from the gun range. All in all a great place to stay and it is quiet at night. The only noise I experienced was Friday night trailers coming in until 10:30 pm. But I think there was an event going on the next day.

A great location, great weather, and the beautiful Monterey Bay minutes away. What more could you ask for in a race venue. A bucket list location for a racing enthusiast.

By Uphilldeb |

We have stayed here on 3 separate occasions and have always enjoyed it. Good size spaces for o.k. rates; $37 per night as of this writing. They offer only water and electric, but they do have a free dump station. My only complaint is the push button showers. Last time I was here they had two good showers. But now those are marked for only handicapped.

By spacepam |

My husband loves his motor sport & as we were in the vicinity whilst a race was on I arranged for us to go & I also had a great time, we managed to get seats under a tree in the shade for the penultimate race of the season sat by the cork screw turn on the track & it was fantastic. Before the race we were able to walk along the pit where all the drivers were standing by their cars, there wasn't any hiding away like Formula 1 do, they were chatting & having pictures taken with the fans & although I didn't have a clue who anyone was I was very impressed with this set up, the whole atmosphere & cost of going was well worth it & I would happily go again.

By Sid k |

We came here on midweek and there was a motorcycle riding school going on. I was able to go everywhere (except the track) and really take it all in! I've never been here but have watched televised races from here. It was really amazing to see it firsthand!

We went for the July 2014 AMA Superbike races and had a blast. The workers there are quite rude and couldn't answer a question without much attitude. Everything else was great! Good food selections, tons of facilities and plenty of parking - slow to enter (those pesky workers), quick to exit.

By Jordan G |

Ok this review is a little late but I am headed to Misano for the Motogp this September and it brought me back to the last race that Motogp had at the Laguna Seca Circuit just outside of Monterey, Ca.. WSBK now goes there which is great but just something about a 270 BHP motorcycle screaming around the undulating, earthquake formed hills. The atmosphere is second to none at the circuit no matter which event is being put on. The circuit organizers need to be commended on parking thousands of crazy fans, feeding them traditional BBQ fare and having enough bathroom facilities(unlike the stories out of Misano) to drain the copious amounts of beer that the fans consume.
The good: 1.Great seating...turn 4 is my favorite grandstand with great views of turn 1 through 5, looking over the lake and Ducati Island.
2. Easy access to everywhere around the track, including the pits.
3. Americans love to eat and drink, copiously, and there are a multitude of options to satisfy every desire.
4. Friendly; I took my then 8 year old son and he was treated well and loved the family friendly atmosphere.
The not as good;
1. Hotels are extremely expensive during and around the time of any event.......best option is either book further away or look on AirBnB or the like.
Just go you'll love it if you love the smell of fuel, foggy mornings and scorching afternoons. I know I do!
BTW.....I didn't go in 2015 it was the only option to choose for when I visited.

By NerdyGreasemonkey |

My first time coming to the track and it did not fail to exceed everyone of my expectations. A true icon in the Motorsports world.

By James M |

Have never been much of a gear-head, but was invited to Porsche Rennsport by friends who definitely are. Accepted the invitation, but didn't have very high expectations.
Wow was I wrong! We had a camp site front row right above the track at the famous corkscrew hill/turns. Was able to watch every race from the comfort of our own tents, with our own coolers, refreshments, etc... If it got too hot we could start the car and crank the A/C for a few minutes until we cooled off, then back to the amazing races.
Being that it was the Porsche Rennsport event the races included incredible cars that were priceless and belonged in museums. When I made that statement to one of the fellow attendees they quickly said back to me "they don't belong in museums, they belong on the race track!!!" I happily stood corrected.
With our ticket we were also allowed to wander through the infield where hundreds and hundreds of vintage Porsche's were on display. Employees were there to provide water and answer questions. That was all part of the price of admission. There was food available for purchase, however we had plenty of provisions in our camp-site that far exceeded the quality of the concessions. Still it was nice that it was available and folks seemed to be pleased with the selections.
The evenings were filled with meeting our neighbors, talking about Porsche's, and talking about non-Porsche related stuff with old and now new friends.
Laguna Seca is a world class track and the Porsche Rennsport is a world class event. See you next time as I'm coming back for sure!!!!

Great day at the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway.

Super easy to find by car, quick efficient parking and so many great viewing points all over the circuit as well as shaded areas if you get too hot.

A mix of portaloos and building toilets around the circuit which were probably the cleanest public toilets I've used in the USA!

Loads of sponsor stalls and food outlets if you wanted to shop or eat and a really strong race programme with no big gaps between races.

We were also treated to an F18 fly by after the National Anthem 👌🏼

Honestly can't fault it. We read some reviews complaining there was a lot of walking but maybe those people have never been to a UK race circuit!

Tickets were very reasonable at about $40 each with grandstand access. Just remember to take some ear plugs as he cars are super loud or buy some there for $3.

By Cupcardriver |

This is my 5th trip to Laguna Seca, and worth every second. However having the opportunity to watch the historic races during the Concours weekend is even more special. Being a race car driver-enthusiast makes me a bit jaded however having traveled here with my spouse who could normally care less, even she was in aw. So worth the trip for enthusiasts and non alike.

By Barbara S |

Aside from grandstand viewing at drag races I'd never been to a track in person before. Wow! Gosh! Wow! Watching cars go fast and make loud noises is a rush. You just can't capture it on your cellphone video.

Writing this review, I struggle to separate my personal experience from what experience you might get, and rate accordingly. I was allowed a Paddock Pass since my three members of my family were racing their own Porsches at the POC (Porsche Owners' Club) event in August 2012. Since it was family, I was really focused on what was going on, and learned a lot about how Laguna Seca is run (it seems to be VERY WELL organized). I do not own a Porsche or race any vehicles, so this was all new to me.

Since I had a Paddock Pass, I got to see the garage area where you can view the cars up close--plus you can see the Corkscrew, Straightaway, and certain other places from vantage points that you would not have unless you manage to find a friend who gets to race there. I recommend getting such a friend, if you don't have one already.

This track is not like a crowded, smelly dragrace track. It is not an oval track. The racecourse is renowned for its setting--just inland from the often-fog-bound Monterey peninsula. Oak trees and brown grass (the "Green" and "Gold" making up California's state colors) cover rolling hills. The course snakes through this terrain, and you cannot see the whole course from one spot--this fact adds to the excitement of watching. I think the Straightaway--where cars can pass, and where the finish line is--is one good place to view the action, and this is where the main grandstands are. However, if you can walk to the top of the hill to view the Corkscrew you will see the gnarliest turns, and from atop the hill under an oak tree you can picnic and gaze over miles of lovely California land (in the quiet lulls between cars).

If you are vacationing in the Monterey area, it would be worth your time to visit the track and see what's going on. I believe teens would enjoy it too.

Practical advice for visitors = Highway 68 entrance has better access to areas, compared to rear entrance on Reservation Road towards Marina. Book any camping well in advance, as it sells out. food services are reasonable, but picnics are welcome. Some premier parking areas sell out long in advance. General parking is in the sandy areas on the side of the hills, and motorcycles frequently fall over, and there is not ground clearance for exotic cars. Without special parking, drive something old that will not mind a thick coating of dust. WEAR GOOD WALKING SHOES, as you will trek for miles a day. Dress in layers for the famous fog.

Living nearby, my family took me to the first car race in 1958, and I have gone most every year since to some event. The facility was donated by the US Army to a local charity group, who have sucked out almost one billion dollars for local charities, but the facility has not kept pace with world standards, and those important events can no longer be held at this venue, for safety and marketing reasons. All things go full circle with time, and now the track hosts more local events. This is nice for local people, but the days of big crowds that bring big dollars to the charities are gone. Biggest event is now the mid- August historic car demonstration races.

If you never get to drive any other road course, drive this one. Check out the on-site racing school: look at the list of champions that went thru there. Personal best: in a Barber event, I got to within 110% of the best lap in my event.

Being motorsports fans from UK it was worth a quick visit to take a look at the track whilst in the area. The guy on the gate allowed us in for 15 mins to take some photographs. Lucky to see a car on the track. Pity we were not there when racing was taking place but enjoyed it nevertheless. Sadly we could get a good view of the fires in the area which were done mikes away so thoughts with all those involved.

If you are into racing and or road course driving...find a way to drive this track...WOW...
I have done it now twice with Skip Barber driving course's and with a friend in her Ferrari during the Ferrari Club Annual get together 2 years ago....
I can't wait to find the time to do it again soon....and now I want to hit other tracks across the U. S.

Its a great place to go for the Le Mans races or the F1. There is a real good BBQ place by the paddocks. I love the view from the top of the corkscrew.

By Si405 |

Laguna Seca has an excellent campground with hookup sites and separate bathroom/shower facilities. The campsites have great views over the valley and over the track itself and the paths leading through the campground make it a fun experience for kids.

It's a short drive to downtown Monterey (7 miles) and there's RV parking at the entrance to Fisherman's Wharf.

I attended the Rolex Monterey Reunion, a moving car museum, with historic cars. The track is scenic, generally well-maintained, and offers multiple locations to watch the vintage/historic car "races."

Great place to watch racing. Bring your RV and settle in for the show. Easily reachable by vehicle from the 101 or 1 freeways.

By Terry G |

We love the SBK races. Had a great weekend at Laguna Seca. The races are exciting and the corkscrew one of my favorite places to watch the races. Although, turn #2 is my new choice to watch the races.

We like going to the special events like historic cars & Cherries Jubilee. Well designed, and with some changes to the layout in the works, we find that food, restrooms, and drinks are accessible, also the souvenier shops - a little bit small. Usually find the food quality to be okay with prices quite high for a captive group so look around. English Ales Brewery from Marina has been at a couple events and that was a nice treat. Looking forward to some future improvements around the track itself, and will continue to smack there, but eat main meal away except for rare occasions.

By Jananah |

This is a wold class raceway...auto, bike nationals take place here. Besides that, however their are antique car races, some music events and other types of auto related events. There is also a nice ca,ping facility on the property. And it's conveniently located between Salinas and Montered.

Held at the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway, Hooked on Driving (HOD) teaches high performance driving techniques to novices and more experienced amateurs. What a great, exhilarating day of classroom and track driving time. Safety is stressed at all times. Classroom, skid pad, and track instruction all in one fabulous day. A BLAST!! HOD numerous other events at other venues.

It was the 30th anniversary of the Mazda Miata celebration, approximately 1500 Miatas were in attendence.
Great facility, camping on site.
Incredible race track.

I had a terrific time at an HPDE organized by Hooked on Driving. I have been a spectator here many times but this is my first time on track. What fun.

By MarthaBellaVistaAR |

Facilities are very nice.

Food vendors had everything you needed and the food was delicious.

Now let's get to the track and the wonderful people who make it all happen WOW HATS OFF TO YOU ALL!!!

Even during someone's off track excursion, the corner workers got the flags out; drivers off the track and wreckers and emergency crews out PDQ - then all drivers were back on the track with plenty of time left in the session. Great job crew!

The track is pristine and exceptionally well maintained.

Well worth the money spent and 3600 mile round trip

Whether it be auto or motorcycle racing or if I'm a volunteer or paying customer, it is always an exciting good time

Laguna Seca Raceway is a large venue that hosts a variety of events from motorsports, concerts to camping offering both RV or primitive campsites. There is also a public gun range available.

By Jackie M |

Stopped off here as we are huge motorsports fans and it was on our way. Entered the raceway and managed to park right by the corkscrew bends to watch some club car racing. There didn't seem to be anyone about except people taking photos. It was great to actually be there and appreciate the way the track falls away on these bends. We then went to the shop and the things were reasonably priced so spent quite a bit on caps and tee shirts for us and friends. A really good visit, very glad we went.

We took a little drive from Monterey up to the racetrack on a Thursday afternoon. I am sure that the race is awesome, but we circled up to the campgrounds (where you can camp almost all year) to look around. In the quiet and the clear afternoon air, you could see for miles; from the mountains down to the bay. Got some of the nicest and best photos of our vacation from up here.

One caution - the traffic in the afternoon is pretty bad, so if you go, visit before 3 PM or so when 68 backs up.

By Vegas |

Staff in our chalet was terrific. Food was OK. Location has a good view. Lots of restrooms close by as well. Could use fans or portable AC as it can get very hot. Overall facility is very nice. Good venue to watch a race

By PGNevis |

Drove the track at Laguna. What a treat! Participated in the track school event through Hooked-On-Driving, which is an excellent program to learn to drive a race track. The track is spirited and offers continuous challenges regardless of your experience. I've come to appreciate all the turns on the course, but the Corkscrew (turns 8 and 8a) is always a favorite. I keep working to improve each time I have a track day.

So many people visit the Monterey Peninsular for a variety of reason, mostly golf and tourist related events. I have been to the area many times and on several occasions I have heard racing cars in the distance. For those of you that do not know, there is the best road racing venue in the US just inland from Monterey. Laguna-Seca has been hosting spectacular racing events for a very long time. It is a wonderful track with several spots that provide great views of the cars as they fly around the track. It's most famous feature is a complicated turn that dives nearly 5 stories as it turns from left to right, called the corkscrew. Climb the hill if you want a little workout and watch the cars dive through this wonderful turn. Laguna-Seca is the best!

By bill B |

way overpriced for such little infrastructure. people dont come back unless you have some capital improvements such as covered seating area with protection for bad weather. Also food and beverages are way to expensive during events.

By DanielWMonterey |

World famous, unique raceway. Year-round races that aren't too crowded or pricey. Motto GP weekend is huge! Biggest event and arguably, party of the year!

By Richard F |

Great event, actually the whole week is the event with the races being at the end of the week. If you are in Monterey in August, this is the place to be... assuming you like classic cars. Between Pebble Beach concourse, auctions, and the race events its a car lover's dream.

By Castillo Z |

We are visiting from Colorado and decided to go to the Continental Monterey Grand Prix here and boy was it amazing. The track is set up very nicely so you can view multiple multiple spots of the track, you can sit in the stands in a few spots or bring your own chair and kick it where ever you want to. It's all spread out so you don't feel overwhelmed with people. The staff was great and the weather was better couldn't have asked for a better day to go. Awesome experience overall we would definitely go again.

By Robert R |

As pretty a racetrack as you will ever see. Even if you are not a race fan, spent some time at this track. Beautiful Central California scenery, and a classic racetrack.

By jstanh |

What an experience that was, I have never seen so many bike in one place. My grandson was doing a road race.

The Annual Sea Otter Classic is held each April at Laguna Seca Raceway. This is an amazing venue for events of any kind. I love to watch the road races, just as much as I haves loved watching the cars zoom around the track. It's definitely worth checking out the schedule of events if you are in the area.

Went to the Golden Gate Lotus Club racing event. FANTASTIC! Great fun and friendly environment. Superb organization and attention to detail .
Highly recommended , the track is is excellent condition, and a must have experience!

By MostlyMikeJones |

I have seen this race track many times on TV and thought it looked great. Today I got to visit it and now I know it is awesome. The TV does not do the Corkscrew justice. I would love to come back one day and drive this track.

Having enjoyed over twenty driving schools in the past nine years...I have some "track-time" and an opinion on what works etc... This school, while not as "polished" or flashy as some of the others I have been to (BMW Hi Performance, M5, Audi S-Series & Audi R8 Schools, Porsche @ Barber Motorsports)...was by far the most enjoyable for me. The Instructors, Pit crews and Facility Organizers were all first rate in their attitudes and concerns for our safety and enjoyment of the event.
Laguna Seca is an ICONIC track (corkscrew) and as such - a joy to drive! This by far was my most "technically" challenging and therefore most enjoyable. The amenities within in the compound/track are sparse...but then again, you are here to drive!

By travelswithbob21 |

They had a live go-kart race track in the infield that was quite reasonably priced ($20 for 12 laps). I lapped everyone in our race grouping (except for instructors who lapped me...they are very good at finding and exploiting miniscule passing windows! Porsche GT3 Cup simulator (free) was well worth the hour wait in line...this is not a video game, it is like a flight simulator that pilots train on: When I got hard on brakes at going into turn 8 on last lap I locked up, went straight off the road, and came to a very abrupt stop in the tire barrier.

By milenah33 |

We came for the Rolex Union Car Week. There are great events there but the parking is not good. The parking is on the dirt hill and there are gopher holes everywhere ! Some can swallow your car. Think twice if you want to bring a nice car, which we had considered going to a "Car Week:, glad we brought a car with more clearance.

By Paul H |

I went to the MOTO GP here and had a great time.
the facilities are great and the corkscrew corner is something to be seen
Would recommend anyone to go there for the MOTO GP

By Tamara C |

My husband and I went there for a track event this last Monday. Very fun! The only thing that was frustrating was that the bathrooms by the restaurant were closed and we had to use the ones by the garage. Not that big of a deal though. The food was great! We had the Teriyaki Chicken Plate and it was delicious and a great value! Highly recommend it! We can't wait to go back!!!

By MadDog25 |

Great racing. Great time. Go Nicky. Go Ben. Better luck next year. The souvenier shops could learn to accommodate a few more people though.

We love Laguna Seca. Have been here a couple times for IMSA Racing to watch the MINI Cooper JCW Race Team. There is nothing like the noise, the smells, the race cars! It’s an easy location to get to from Monterey, where we like to stay. There is plenty of parking, although we’ve parked in the BMW corral. There are many places to watch the racing, of course including the legendary Corkscrew. The view of the coast up there is fantastic if there’s not much fog on the bay. We love visiting the paddock and the fan walk of the pits before the race. There are a number of places to eat with a variety of choices. There’s also a margarita bar. I love this race track. Definitely worth a visit if you like cars.

By cgknabe |

I have been attending races at the tragk since, have alot of upgrades and improvements.
The racing is always great. You will walk alot but you must visit the Corkscrew, racing action is Very good.
Cars and motorcycles us the track for racing
Camped there many times, Updated restrooms that include showers in the camp grounds

By CJones91 |

My brother was super excited that this was close to our hotel and so we drove up, the man on the gate let us in for free as we only wanted a quick look for 20 minutes. There was a race on which was really exciting to see. We parked in a high up area for a good look at the track.

By Deborah B |

This is a historic race track. Watched Indy Lights and Pirelli World Challenge races. Staff very friendly and helpful. Able to walk around easily, sit at any grandstand. Good junk food choices, no lines for bathroom. Great weekend for a race fan.

By Jason P |

We where they for the spring classic, great day wandering round the pit lanes looking at the cars and then courtesy shuttle up to the corkscrew. Great bar up there where u can watch all the action. The food and drink prices are very responsible and it's a local brewery to make the day even better.

This campground is not well known, but off-season, it is a good place to stay in the Monterey Area for only $35.00 a night! Of course, during race season, it is over crowded and noisy.
We made reservations a month in advance, yet when we arrived, a big RV was parked in our place, and we had been assigned a less desirable space nearby. No one was around to field our complaint, so we called the reservation office. They told us, "We don't promise a space...it's first come, first serve" They never said that when we made the reservation. They finally said to pick any spot we wanted that didn't have a current reservation tag (?) on it. We found an acceptable space nearby. Usually at this time of the year, the campground is nearly empty, but this time, the place packed in for the week-end. We think it's due to Obama's shut-down of Federal campgrounds that did this.
The camp has water and electricity, but no sewer hook-up. A dump station is available. Showers are free. The electrical hook-ups (My favorite gripe) were modern and in excellent condition. Water was excellent with high pressure. Some of the sites have great views.
Bathrooms could be cleaner. Garbage cans were overflowing. A rifle and pistol range is down below the site, but isn't that bad. Few trees, dusty camp sites.
All-in-all a good place to use as a base camp while visiting the Monterey Area.

Visited for Pre Reunion at Monterey Historical Races. Entrance was free except pits area. My kids and I enjoyed it a lot. We had good teriyaki chicken plates for lunch. You may consider to bring ear plug for kids. The car racing was real loud.

By twinklynana |

If your a race enthusiasts you will love coming here! Every kind of race is run here and if you can be at at the top of the track you can enjoy the best view ever!

By fgwbita |

I've been attending races here since it opened and took over for the legendary Pebble Beach road course. in 1957. A number of years ago they made an infield loop to lengthen the layout (Used to be a large circular loop) which increases the amount of track you see from most vantages. A great venue which is well managed with parking that is excellent. I only attend the Rolex Reunion in August, and they have an excellent free shuttle service from the more remote lots. Lots of souvenir and food places and Bathrooms(!). Do NOT miss the signature corkscrew turn. It is out of sight fun. I'll be going until they bury me.

By 415tedn |

Loved everything about LaGuna Seca outside of the fact that they need to get a ride share lot on the premises for events. Trying to get a Lyft or Uber in to pick you up proved to be quite difficult as there is no designated spot and the venue is very large. We were able to get it done a couple times but both were an adventure!

By Jeff W |

If you enjoy motorsports it's a must do for at least 1 day. Come early and stay all day. The weather is unpredictable so plan accordingly. Also by prepared to do a lot of walking as there is so much to see and enjoy.

By Tricia2070 |

I was never at any kind of car or bike racing before and we went to the Motor GP for the first time last year...wow. I couldnt believe the noise, the fun and how friendly everyone was. I wasnt expecting this to be as family family orientated as it was but it was fantastic. From the people working there, competing there and just hanging out..everyone was great! It was wonderful and I cant wait to go again.

Laguna Seca is an iconic raceway. I'm most familiar with motorcycle racing - and this is a great world class track and facility. The area is large and attractive, multi-purpose, with some attractive views across the hills and valleys.

I've done some track days and autocrosses in my Lotus Europa, but given the age of these cars and my limited mechanical ability, I find that it is a lot more fun to go racing in someone else's car. Skip Barber offers a solution for guys like me. So far, I have done two of his programs: 1) the 1/2 day Introduction to Racing, and 2) the 1 day High Performance Driving School.
The Intro to Racing uses Mazda MX5 roadsters that have been setup for track use. The session starts out with a short chalkboard talk on racing basics, then it is out to the track. Participants are outfitted with racing suits and helmets then assigned to a car. We go onto the track in groups of four, each group follows and instructor. On the straightaway after each lap, the car immediately behind the instruction drops to the back of the group while the other close up. You get a lot of laps and it is a lot of fun to note how your technique improves. In car video and still pictures at various points along the track are offered at additional cost.
The High Performance Driving School is more focused on teaching driving skills. Participants are divided into groups of 3 and rotated through various stations. Also, this program offers the opportunity to drive some very cool automobiles. There are three stations in the morning, and another three in the afternoon. After the station work is over, everyone has a chance to sit with an instructor as he moves through the autocross course, then finally about 45 minutes of track time in the car of your choice (provided that someone else hasn't already grabbed it).
The morning stations are as follows: 1) a 45 minute classroom session on driving techniques; 2) a "Lane Toss" exercise using Lotus Evoras - The course is divided into 3 lanes using cones and has a light board at the back of the course. The object is to accelerate as fast as possible to the 1st cone then turn into the lane indicated by the green light on the board, which comes on as you approach the cone; 3) a skid pad using Mazda 3's that are setup to oversteer. Here you practice slide recovery techniques.
After lunch (which is provided), the stations are as follows: 1) a braking exercise using either Lotus Evoras or Porsche Boxters; 2) another skid pad with Mazda 3's where you practice controlled drifts through corners; and 3) an autocross course using BMW M5 and Lexus ISF.
These programs aren't cheap. If you go to their website, you will see that the Intro to Racing is listed at $800; and the High Performance Driving School is $2100 (they recently raised their prices). However, if you check their website frequently or get on their mailing list, you will find that they offer substantial discounts periodically. Again, video and still pictures are offered at additional cost.
The only disappointment came at the end of the day, when it was time to do some laps on the track. Everyone wanted to drive the Lotus Evora, and since there were only 3, I had to settle for a Porsche Boxter

First of all this is motorsports paradise with a full schedule during the summer months. The viewing from anywhere on the circuit is second to none and this is one of the few tracks you can camp trackside. The pit suites are fabulous and the catering pretty good. The paddock is a great place to get up close to the drivers and teams. The best viewing spot is right under the corkscrew turn or is it..... The viewing is much better than most tracks and if you walk up the hill you can see 70% of the track at the same time. Parking is excellent for smaller events and for the largest they bus you in right to the front door. Ticket prices are always reasonable and the food/drinks are normal for an event location.

By Jammerdog |

The races always are lots of fun to watch. I did not camp but have heard that the sites are nice and it is a quiet setting with lots of oak trees.

By BIGcat1977 |

beautiful place, fun races...be sure to explore...there are a lot of views to get of the race. corkscrew area was awesome

By Tamarisk59 |

A great weekend. Fantastic access to the pits and a petrol heads must do event.

In my opinion it needs more big screens around the track. Radio earpieces so you can hear the commentary over the noise and more seating to rest and eat.

Otherwise a well organised event.

By Wanda C |

A totally different track and surroundings from what we have in the Southeast. The track was challenging for the drivers. The views were awesome.

By Andria R |

Fun day at world superbike races! Great food and services here. Lots of restrooms. Best thing for us were the little golf cart taxis, some driven by local veterans. My partner had really sore foot and these folks made it possible for him to get around with less pain!

By TallSH |

loved the 'high spots' overlooking the valley, easy to get our 25' motor home in... killer views to the west, fairly well worn campground. although is is not city camping, this is definitely NOT camping in the forest. it is conveniently located to town with nice fire pits, nice picnic tables, great hook ups, good dump station. Unlike other reviews we have very good service for park staff. I highly recommend this place, the only down side is traffic during rush hour getting in and out of the park, but the park itself is GREAT!!! i think it is a great value for the money... we paid $37 a night.... not sure if that is $35 plus taxes and fees, but another review says $35... but our receipt says $37.

By Steve S |

Really nice RV spots with some space between then, water and electric, no sewer, but a dump station. Be careful with heavy rigs, the entryway has a 16% grade, had to use low transfer with our 42ft 5th wheel/ toyhauler

By Jeff J |

Traffic getting in and out of race is ridiculous. Takes too long and does not make sense. Track not very crowded. Perhaps because it is difficult to get inside. Ticket price too high. If lower,,,,,you might have more people attend.
