I enjoy riding the West Orange Trail. It is one mile from my house, and has a nice smooth surface. There is no food available for purchase on the Trail itself, but it passes several good places for a snack, such a Rita's Water Ice, and for a meal, such as The Catfish Place.

The trail is well-maintained and goes through a variety of areas - Center of towns to wooded areas. The trail is almost all flat that makes for an easy ride. There are water colers with ice cold water along the trail. At mile 0 and 5.5 there are bicycle shops that rent bikes. We rented a tandem from the shop at Killarney Station and the young man was extremely helpful. our only complaint about the trail was lack of mile markers.

West Orange Trail is a great place to run, bike, and walk. Trail is well marker with markers every .1 of a mile. If you’re doing a workout and want to know your pace the mile markings come in very handy. I saw lots of families with their children biking. Trail is very wide so passing people is not a problem. Even of a busy day the trail is great.

love this trail..part goes through historical Winter Garden with quaint shops and lots to eat...highly recommend biking this one!

We stopped in beautiful Winter Garden Florida for a bike ride on the West Orange Trail, we rented our bikes at Winter Garden Wheel Works Rentals at 455 E. Plant St. Winter Garden, FL 34787, great bikes and great service, we selected to bike west on West Orange Trail that first took us thru Winter Garden, the trail is very nice with beautiful scenery, don't miss this Central Florida gem

Lot's to see and explore - zebra, peacocks and bald eagles nest!
Crowded on a Saturday afternoon, and farmer market is close by.
Best to get there early and ride from Winter Garden towards Apopka.

I have been riding and walking this trail for years. it provides a fun and safe way to go thru some of the West Orange community's and see great historical sites

Nice and scenic . Trails have lots of canopy and the pavement is very smooth. We ride from apopka to winter garden , had lunch and ride back .

Rent bikes at Bikes and Blades and take a leisurely ride up the trail with your family to Winter Garden, a charming town with plenty of coffee, ice cream, and scenery to make you happy. The trail is safe, wide, partially shady, and mostly flat, making it an easy ride even on hot days. This is a great (and very affordable) alternative to the theme parks.

This bike trail is well-maintained, flat and has varied scenery - some wetlands and trees, some small town and commercial. We rented bikes at West Orange Trail Bikes and Blades and started our ride at Mile 0. The trail is marked with permanent distance markers laid into the path. At 5 Miles is the town of Winter Garden and just past the town is a bike station with restrooms, shaded picnic tables and kids play equipment.
The town of Winter Garden has several restaurants and plenty of shopping. On our way out we rested at the town fountain on swinging benches. We continued on to Mile 10 and turned around. The trail actually goes 22 miles. On our way back we stopped for food and a beer at Moon Cricket Grill, which has tasty food and 100 beers available.
The bike trail has a lot of foliage covering the path to provide shade for probably 50% of the ride. There is a nature preserve at Mile 1.5 or so that looked interesting, although we didn't stop to hike.
Even during this busy vacation week we never felt crowded or rushed on the trail. Most users we passed looked like locals using the trail regularly. There are several street crossings and we found most drivers very aware of bikers and happy to wave us on our way.
This trail could be accessed by children, adults and seniors - it's that flat and well-maintained.

Most of the trail is on concrete, and the West Orange Trail can be used for a full marathon/ ultra as it's 35km one way....One could do jogging or do biking by your own bike or rental from Bikes & Blades...(not sure whether there are any bike rental at Winter Gardens or Apopka area)
A nicely paved safe path throughout; do watch out for the cars or heavy vehicles at crossings though they are very nice to let us go first. When we were there, it was very quiet....maybe cause it was weekday? There was one stretch that was just next to the highway, but still safe...Signage was clear most of the way, but we did not managed to do the full distance due to lack of time.
One go through the Winter Garden town and Lake Apopka area but did not have much chance to explore them this time. Though did break for lunch at Apopka town for lunch lol
Highly recommended for a break from all the parks and shopping in town, though it was a little distance away.

My favorite place to exercise. Rent or bring your bicycle. Bike rentals are $7 per hour. The best route for average riders is to start from the Station located next to Hwy 50 in Clermont. Ample parking. Ride relatively level terrain from Oakland/Clermont the roughly 5 miles to Winter Garden Station and return if you're wanting to get a nice hour of cardio workout.
For experienced, hardcore riders, the Oakland/Clermont Station traveling west, away from Winter Garden towards Clermont, can be absolutely brutal to the uninitiated, as it features the rolling hills of Clermont, some as high as 200-300 ft. (I ended up walking my bike a good portion of that route!)
So, as a word of advice, the Oakland/Clermont to Winter Garden and back again route is maybe around 10 miles of relatively level terrain riding, about a solid hour of cardio workout and nice woodsy and quiet residential areas. Strongly suggest to ask another rider or the Bikes and Blades Staff to make sure you don't take the much more difficult leg from Oakland/Clermont towards Clermont (!) unless you're a seasoned rider and/or very fit...
"Bikes and Blades" store offers regular bikes ($7 per hour) and also more advanced bikes at $10 per hour. Blade rentals apparently not available, despite the title!

We took the trail from Killarney Station to Winter Garden Station (a round trip of about 10 miles) and were suitably impressed. We hired bikes at Killarney Station which was easy to do and reasonably priced, something I would definitely recommend doing if you're visiting the area and don't have your own bikes with you.
The Orange County Parks & Recreation division (the department responsible for the maintenance and development of the trail) have clearly thought things through, with a multi-purpose trail suitable for walkers, cyclists, joggers and skaters taking visitors through wooded, green-space and residential areas. There are mile markers along the way, so you know how far you've gone (maps are also available at most of the stations) and information boards along the trail provide useful information about the flora and fauna you might see along the way.
Most of the trail is flat which is preferable given the high temperatures this region is known for. There are large sections of the trail which are shaded by overhead tree canopy, but I would recommend a visit earlier in the morning before it gets too hot if you don't like the idea of cycling/walking in the heat! It can also get pretty busy, especially at the weekends, so I would recommend going during the week if you're looking to avoid heavy traffic.
Most of the stations along the trail have amenities (restrooms, vending machines, etc) although we found some of them were closed on the day we went (Sunday). There's lots to see along the way, including some lovely houses, wildlife and quirky commercial buildings featuring some very interesting decorations!
All in all this is a great way to see Florida in a different and unique way and makes a welcome change from the busy theme parks and outlet malls. Well worth a visit if you're looking to take a break from the usual attractions and want something different to do.

Tree-lined and quiet. Plenty of bikers, runners and walkers, but plenty of room for all. Everyone I come across is friendly and in the outdoor feeling good zone.

You will cross several busy streets of starting at Apopka station. At several points in South Apopka you will see signs to beware of dogs that are not fenced in. When nearing the water treatment plant it will smell terrible. Areas of the neighborhood are in rough parts of Apopka and police were active with situations with residents.

My husband and I stayed in Orlando for a week and were hopeful that we could bike at least a day or two. We rented bikes from West Orange Trail Bikes and Blades since we didn't want to haul our bikes all the way from IN.
We started at mile marked zero and rode all the way to Chapin station. It was a beautiful and easy ride for us. The trail starts out in a rural setting, runs along a nature preserve, and into an urban area, with the trail running right down the middle of the street in Winter Garden. The trail is not totally flat, but it's not very steep either like our home course -- Pumpkinvine Trail. It is a great trail -- 14 foot wide, asphalt paved and nicely marked with public parking and restrooms available in several locations, not to mention the downtown area of Winter Garden. We also saw at least two parks with playgrounds and picnic tables.
We definitely would have liked to see more of the trail but we didn't have enough time or nice weather.

The nice thing about the West Orange Trail is that there is bike riding for every level. If you are looking for a relatively easy, leisurely ride, I suggest you park in downtown Winter Garden and rent a bike from one of the cycle shops. It is 5.2 miles to the beginning of the trail and a flat ride that is shaded about 60% of the way. Nice homes and greenery and a no-vehicle trail. You can turn around at the station, use the restroom and get something to drink before heading back. Drop off your bike and then relax over lunch in one of the restaurants. If you go the other way on the trail you can experience a more challenging ride with hills.

We were delighted to discover this network of trails in the middle of Florida's urban sprawl. It's a great route for cyclists, skaters, and all walkers who prefer an even paved surface.

I ride this trail at least twice a week. You can go for many miles or do shorter trips. I usually go out about 7 miles to do a 14 mile round trip. Starting in downtown Winter Garden I like to head towards Oakland. You do cross streets but with some caution it doesn’t have to slow you down. Really fun ride and when you’re done you can grab lunch in Winter Garden.

We love rail to trail bike rides. this one was GREAT ! we were in orlando to do the mickey thing and wanted to get away from the crowds and go for a ride. we rented bikes and hopped on this trail. the surface was smooth and the scenery can't be beat. if we are ever back in this area we would ride this trail again. we had ice cream at a great little shop in one of the towns, sorry i don't remember but you will see it when you go by.

The West Orange Trail extends for miles. It is great for walking and biking. If you are into exercise choose an area of the trail with long uninterrupted stretches. If you want casual walking, choose the Winter Garden area. You can stroll out of town for your exercise and then back into town where you can stop at the shade parking area. Try the downtown food places in Winter Garden.

I have been here several times. Be prepared to see many critters along the way. You'll bike past a pretty butterfly garden and I've always seen a wandering peacock on the path. Be sure to stop in Winter Garden for a quick lunch or a shot of espresso.

I have found this to be a very pleasant route to ride my bicycle while it's located some distance from my house j just look at it as extra exercise. When I do ride I take it all the way to winter garden where I can relax end enjoy what that quaint town has to offer
I certainly recommend this trail to newcomers as well as seasoned patrons. You enjoy it.

The trail is paved, two lane and easy for the basic beginner biker. Orange Bike rental has good comfort bikes (as well as more elaborate models) for reasonable prices: 7 speed Raleigh with comfortable padded seat. Hours 11am to 5 PM, sometimes longer, check in advance for most accurate info. Full day max cost = $30, less for an hour or two.
Trail has a gentle slope down a lot of the way into Winter Garden. It is not too challenging though and the round trip rental to Winter Garden and back is 10 miles.
We felt like athletes instead of couch potatoes at the end of a relaxing afternoon.

I rode 8 miles from Winter Garden to a mile or so past Oakland and back. I had a lot of fun. The trail was pretty cool although it did have some stop signs but the traffic was fine. This one actually had some gentle hills which was a pleasant change from Tampa where everything is flat.
I want to come back with a bike and do the whole distance.

If you need a little exercise it's a great place to get your walk, ride, or skate on. Weekdays of course are best since most people aren't off and don't have the time to go but off times on the weekends can be great. They have water fountains and bathrooms placed in different spots for the trail. You can even rent bikes if you don't have one.

We visit Florida most years, and have never had an experience like this one. The trial is situated away from the hustle and bustle of Orlando, and offers quaint surroundings as you cycle through.
The trial is 22 miles long in total, and a smooth ride. The trial is very well maintained, and offers places to stop for food and drink along the way. The majority of the trial is flat, although there are a few ups and downs after a while.
The bike rental stores are all reasonably priced, it was around $55 in total for 5 of us to rent the bikes for a few hours, and it was undoubtedly worth it.
I would like to say that if you are planning on doing this, and not used to hot weather, to make sure you chose a slightly cooler day. We went along the trial on a very warm day, and there is nowhere to hide from the stifling heat!
Overall, we hope to do this again next year when visiting Florida, as it was certainly a highlight of the holiday.

The West Orange is a great place for getting out and enjoying a safe walk or ride. The south end of the trail is the better end. Located at the Orange/Lake County line on Oakland, there is good parking with facilities. The path is divided and two way over train tressels (rails to trails) with numerous small towns and stops (with facilities) along the way. The north end is about a block east of 441 in Apopka. Decent start but overall not as nice with facilities along the way and partially on road right of way.

Very well maintained Bicycle Off-Road Trail, centered about Winter Garden (the trail runs right down the middle of a landscaped median thru the center of Historic Winter Garden, but it connects seamlessly to the Apopka Trail to the north-east, and the Lake County Trail to the west going all the way to Lake Miniola and Claremont. It is about 60 miles in total, with lots of options, bathrooms, water, bicycle shops and repair facilities, and Bicycle friendly Restaurants. Many Trail Head parking lots, parks, picnic tables, etc. It doesn't get much better than this ! Florida size Big Hills 6 miles south of Winter Garden. Mostly flat north and east of Winter Garden. Plan to eat and catch a beer in Winter Garden.

You can BYOBike or rent one at various stops along the trail. Good signage, facilities and parking. Winter Garden was a nice community on the trail. It has an appealing restaurant scene.

This is an easy cycling ride which can either be done as a whole, or if a shorter ride is desired, there are several parks along the way where you can park. We will generally only ride to Winter Garden and the either have breakfast or lunch depending on the time of day before returning to our car.

Take your time and your camera. You will not see it all in 1 trip. The best no cost nature drive in Central Florida. Need at least 2 trips to see all trails. Take your time and enjoy Nature

Stroll or bike through the neighborhood seeing lovely homes, orange groves, nature spots, happy walkers, and shady lanes.

Wide, asphalt-paved bike path. Lots of bikers, runners, etc near Winter Garden but more secluded as you get farther away. Very nice, recommended.

When we were visiting Orlando, we drove down to Apopka and explored the West Orange trail. We had a blast!

The West Orange Trail is a sweet find for those who enjoy Central Florida's natural beauty. We biked from Killarney Station to downtown Winter Garden and back, about a 10.5 mile ride. The trail is relatively flat and includes a variety of rural, suburban and small-town urban scenery. It's great the way the trail is incorporated into the heart of historic Winter Garden, where the bike-friendly downtown district offers a fine selection of restaurants and shops. We went on a weekday and traffic on the trail was steady but never a problem; I hear this section can get busy on nice weekends. We are eager to try the rest of the trail, from Winter Garden north to Apopka, on future outings.

We have a nice trail near where we live, but thought we'd try the West Orange Trail, while visiting Winter Garden for a few days. We were not disappointed. We left from the center of town, and went West. There were not many people on the trail at all between about 10:30 and 1:30 on a Friday. The trail is nice and wide, with plenty of shade, benches, and water stations along the way. There are lovely views, and interesting places to explore off the trail as well. We rode to the end of the trail, where there is a large building and bike shop with supplies, restrooms, and cold drinks for sale. The trail continues from there, into another county, but that was far enough for me. We ended up riding about 12 miles, which was just about right for me, a casual bike rider, usually riding 2-3 miles at the most. After we returned, my husband decided he'd like to explore the other end of the trail, going East from Winter Garden. He reports that it wasn't very scenic, or as nice at first, but if you ride far enough, it becomes more remote and serene.

We started our bike ride at Killarney Station, which had a nice parking lot and a playground. The trail is well paved and nice and wide. There are maps along the way and rest stops. The scenery is very beautiful and a change of place from the hustle and bustle of Orlando. We are novice riders and did a 30 mile ride which was a great work out and lots of fun. Looking forward to riding the trail again.

Drove to Winter Gardens, rented bikes and headed west. Very easy and pleasant ride. Interesting greenery along the way. If you have a bike lock, suggest stopping at Oakland Nature Preserve and hike. Very interesting and fairly easy trails.
We stopped at West Orange Trail Bikes and Blades and turned back (approximately 5 miles each way). On the way back we made a left on N Tubb street and took it all the way down to the lake. They built a wonderfull wooden deck with benches to enjoy the quite meditating stop.
We were there on Saturday and enjoyed the farmers market in Winter Gardens when we returned the bike.
We rented the bike at West Orange Bike in Winter Gardens. If you are a professional cyclist, look for another shop with better equipment and more professional staff.
Will try heading the opposite direction next time

Truly enjoyed the scenery and view of this bike trail. Felt completely safe at all times, visited several communities. Wonderful bike shops in town and lots of places to eat.

nice path to walk or bike ride, we did it all the way from Apopka to winter garden had dinner and biked back home

Great cycling, jogging, walking paved trail. great tree coverage on hot sunny days. There are business near by who offer bike rentals for people visiting the area.

The trail is good and has places that you can rest in the way and portion goes through Downtown Apopka which gives you a variety of options.

This trail is for bikes, skates and feet. Safe along the way, although some areas look a little rough. People using trail are friendly

Over 26 miles of clean and wide space for biking, running, skating, or just strolling. There is some sun and shade. It is not lit at night, so make sure you go before the sun goes down.

My husband, my son and I hired cycles and cycled for 10 miles out and back along this trail, heading through Winter Garden on the way. It’s a flat, very safe route. Winter Garden is a pretty town which has been well maintained and is clean. The cycle route takes you past some amazing houses as well as through the countryside. We particularly enjoyed hunting for geocaches along the way!

Enough said?
Rails to Trails. Mostly wooded and away from roads. No major road crossings. Trail goes right down the street median of Winter Garden where there are bike shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and a Farmer's Market on Saturday.
What's not to like?

My husband and I stayed in Clermont specifically knowing it was close to a running trail! We seek them out when we travel. We ran on the apopka Vineland portion of the trail. It is very nicely paved and has a good sized parking area with clean bathrooms. There is also a kids play area. One negative to the trail is it is not marked for miles if you are looking for that. If you use a running watch or a running app not a problem. We ran towards winter garden and found there are several stop signs and intersections. We ran 5 miles towards winter garden. You run through the center of town which is adorable. I cannot wait to go shop there. It is a very flat trail. Everyone on the trail is friendly and waves!

We began our ride at Killarney Station (has bike rentals, restrooms, playground, picnic tables). Passed over restored railroad bridge, traveled through some nice neighborhoods, old and new (kind of sad, seems they're tearing down/clearing a lot of the land to put up MORE housing developments). Trail is smooth and paved, some hills but not bad, some parts were shaded, trail well marked. We rode to the 4 mile mark (7 year old daughter was tired) but would have loved to go further.

My husband and I are frequent visitors to central Florida. We finally decided to rent road bikes and bike the West Orange Trail and the Lake Trail. Wow! I was very impressed with this trail system. Unfortunately a small section of the West Orange Trail was still closed from the hurricane when we visited in October. Despite that, we managed to get around the obstructed area and really enjoy the trail. My favorite trail was actually the lake trail which started about 5 miles outside of Winter Garden and headed to Clermont. When the bike shop owner told us there would be hills on the trail, I secretly chuckled to myself thinking he had to be crazy. But guess what - there were hills on the lake trail. Not steep hills, but just some gradual rollers. It was so scenic and I couldn't believe I was actually in Florida. If I lived in the area I would be on that trail every day. I highly recommend using this trail if you are a local or a visitor. We road on a Monday and a Wednesday, so there was very little bike or pedestrian traffic. It was wonderful. I would go back in a heart beat.

I took my granddaughter to the playground and the trail. She enjoyed the playground. Not busy and the equipment was in great condition. We then walked the peaceful trail. Very relaxing afternoon.

If you're an avid runner or cyclist, this trail is tops. It has a few depots where you can stop and rest, use the bathroom and refill your water bottles. The whole trail is paved, and wide enough for 3 cyclists to ride side by side.

I'm sure there are parts of this trail that are nice, but unfortunately, the 11-mile section we did from Apopka Station to Chapin Station was not very scenic, had no places for water along the route, and much of it is exposed to the hot sun! Also, it is very sad that the Apopka Station has many homeless living in the shelter and laying around the park where there are children playing at the playground. To make things worse, they were arguing loudly and using the "F" word very freely well within ear shot of anyone nearby, including the children. Not a pleasant experience! I would suggest starting at the southern end and heading north but going no further than the Chapin Station!

We enjoy walking on this trail and it has an entrance across the street from Lost Lake RV park where we park for the winter.

Great jogging and cycling trail. Beautiful scenery, peaceful and serene. A good bit of shade provided by the over hanging trees.

We parked at Kilarney Station, rented a bike, and cycled this paved trail through lovely residential areas, scenic Winter Garden, and on to the Luca Trail that brings you to Newton Park at Lake Apopka where you can walk the pier and, if lucky, watch the crafty alligator stalk birds. There are washrooms there, and lovely restaurants of all kinds in Winter Garden. Visit the Train Museum.

This is a great trail that is safe and is a long enough distance to be good exercise. It also goes through the town of the Winter Garden which is a lot of fun. Highly recommend it if you’re into cycling.

Rented a bike from Winter Garden Wheel Works, once on the trail it was great to be able to stop along the way as I hadn't done much biking over the past years. Plenty of places to stop and see along the trail, nicely paved and for the most part very flat. The parks along the trail were beautiful and rode out to the lake. Very active community and very clean.

Well maintained bike trail. Felt very safe on the trail. I would highly recommend it for walking or riding.

I found out about this trail when I started looking for a home and Winter Garden was one of the areas I was looking in. I rode it on a weekend and just fell in love with it so much so I moved where I had easy access to ride it. I like to ride it from Winter Garden to Lake Minneola in Clermont and back. Great way to get wome exercise and you can take in some great views along the way.

Perfect for our family while we stayed at the Edgewater Hotel. We were able to take our bikes out for rides, and walk our dogs. The trail made it easy to walk right down to restaurants neighboring the hotel.

Biking, walking and roller-blading are common activities on this famous trail once used as a railway line. It is not very far from Orlando. The trail goes about twenty miles. You can enter the trail in numerous places. Our favorite is at the western end known as the Killarney Station not far from the Florida Turnpike and Route 50. There are bathrooms along this trail and even reputable bicycle places to rent bikes.
We have bicycled this trail several times. We travel about 10 miles out going through the historic city of Winter Haven. It is just a delightful quaint old time Florida town waiting for your exploration. There is even a small museum along the route.
Our most recent find is the Quercus Quesinberry Oak tree, a magnificent old oak along the trail. There are sections of the trail canopied by trees, particularly by these oak trees.
One the weekends and holidays you will find more visitors on the trail. The trail is a good twelve feet or more wide, plenty of room for everyone. It is well marked with stop signs at all the intersections. If you have time and transportation, this experience would be delightful for your Florida experience.

Now that I am back from my vacation it is time to get serious about all the goodies I ate while gone. So, I hit our favorite trail with my husband today. Going from the parking lot at the Budda Temple to Clark Rd. is about 3 miles round-trip and that is our usual. Although this time of day 2:00 pm is very hot in Florida the trees shade the trail on that section and is highly recommend.
We usually see some kind of wildlife such as a snake, turtle or sand hill cranes.
There is a water fountain at the parking lot and an igloo cooler with water near Clark Road but suggest you bring your own whenever you walk/hike.

Great place to enjoy a good rollerblade or biking experience; well maintained; great people you’re bound to encounter; pet friendly too.

We took the West Orange Trail from the Plant Street Trail Head near the Market Building and rode towards Claremont. There is parking available and the market was a nice place for something to eat, however, seating areas are prime. The trail is safe and had lots of hills which made it challenging. We rode on the weekend and there were lots of folks on the trail. However, on Sunday morning we went early and it wasn't as crowded. The trail is mostly shady all the way and very picturesque. There are rest areas along the way and nice road bikes can be rented at Killarney Station Trail Head.

Nice quiet place to get some exercise while giving your mind a place to rest. Plenty of trees for a nice shade along the walk

Nice trail meandering through several small towns and subdivisions. Nice little nature walk near 1st mile on western side. Winter Garden is kind of neat. Lots of shops and restaurants. Bike rentals at various stops along the way.

We were looking for a place where we could ride and walk.
This trail was awesome. Long intervals before crosswalks.
Very enjoyable. Nice riding thru downtown.

A great trail for a family with mixed level of biking experience. Paved, wide, well-marked, and just a touch hilly. Interesting for experienced bikers, but also very doable for beginners including children.
The trail traverses a combination of suburban backyards, forests of Spanish moss-covered trees, as well as quaint villages that look like they were built on the back-lot of Universal studios. Except here they are real. Stop for lunch, or just to relax and take in the serenity of it all.
We had a technical problem with a bike we rented about 7-8 miles in, we called the rental office, I was able to tell them EXACTLY where we were based on the well-marked mile markers clearly seen set in the pavement every few feet. We were picked up within twenty minutes.
VERY well done, Orlando.

this has to be one of the best trails for walking, running or biking in Florida. It recently opened in Groveland, Fl. and goes past Apopka. You pass through Groveland, Clermont, Winter Garden and Apopka. Each city has places to stop and eat. Also, Clermont, Winter Garden and Apopka have comfort stations with rest rooms and water. Winter Garden has a station on Hwy 50 where you can rent bikes, get parts for you bikes and any other help that you might need. There are a couple of bike shops in Clermont and Winter Garden if you should need them.
This trail is a lot of fun and is enjoyed by a lot of people so you ever feel isolated.

This is a hilly trail that makes it nice. Just be ready to shift quickly.
Many of the bikers, especially racing types, don’t seem to know how to voice their behind you. There seems to be a lack of training. A simple on your left would be nice. Signage stating such would be nice.
There are some critical turns not marked with a turn. Many continue on and get stuck miles out of the way.
We enjoy the trail. Just needs improvement. Please remember a 90 degree turn is difficult for a bike.

Living only 20 miles from this trail, after renting bikes at mile marker 1 and biking to Winter Garden and back, I am tempted to buy new bicycles.
We f
Didn't bring money, but we would have loved to stop and check out one of the many options.
Will do again!

We rode our bikes from Killarney Station to Winter garden and back, about 10 miles. Nicely paved with an old railroad bridge going over the interstate. Mile markers begin at Killarney and are posted every 10th of a mile in the asphalt. In addition to restrooms, playground and picnic areas, there’s a bike shop with rental bikes at Killarney Station. Winter Garden was a nice stop for lunch as the trail goes right through the center of town accessing lots of restaurants. This section of the trail was relatively flat with some gradual grades and rolled thru residential areas and past a nature preserve. We rode on a Sunday and the parking lot was full and trail very busy.
Note: there is also a second trail that heads west from Killarney Station, the South Lake Trail which I think is more difficult.

I've ridden this trail twice during our visit to Winter Garden. The trail is nice and wide and very safe. It's almost totally off-road and would be great for families with kids. For the most part, the trail is pretty flat, with only a few small hills. Starting at the Kilarney Station, it's a nice five-mile ride into Winter Garden, where one can get cold drinks or stop for lunch. I have my own bike and equipment, so did not need to rent anything, but the bike rental shop at Kilarney looked to be well-equipped and staffed by friendly personnel. The trail travels through some nice neighborhood, past a nature park and hiking trail. One can ride much further, up to 22 miles, I believe.

This is a fantastic trail! So well maintained and supported. Completely paved. It is urban for the most part, but provisions have been made for safe crossings of most roads. Winter Garden is a perfect place for a break and lunch. We ate at Harry & Larry's BBQ which was amazing! Greatest beef brisket I have ever had. We started in Apopka and rented bikes at Spin City Cycles which is right on the trail. Very convenient. This is a great option if you are tired of the parks!

The West Orange Trail is a great trail for bikers. You can customize what type of ride you want and how long you want to ride. There are sections with some hills and other areas where it's a bit flatter. Since I'm not much on inclines, I created a trip that started just to the east of the largest hills. I got the benefit of the trail without having to worry about the hills. There are quite a few people on the trail on the weekend, but it's not so crowded that people are in your way. I'm looking forward to my next trip on the trail.

I absolutely love this trail. In the middle of all the city hustle and bustle, a place to enjoy nature while secretly working out. I've walked, roller bladed, and biked the trail. It's all paved and has lots to see and do. Beautiful scenery that changes every mile. Even has rest stops with bathroom facilities. My favorite area is Winter Garden. What a charming little town. The trail is safe with police on bikes patrolling. If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking it out. You won't be disappointed.

We live in Clermont and ride bikes from the Killarney Station (free parking) into Winter Garden (about 2.5 miles one way). Winter Garden has really developed into a great family place over the past few years, with a splash park, a community theatre, and lots of great restaurants and stores....we ride into town and have a picnic in the park, let the kids play, and then head home. Makes for a great Sunday!

Great bike trail. Passes through wetlands, small communities. Can stop for lunch at good restaurants in Winter Garden or get a snack in Apopka. Most of the trail is level and easy. Photos ops along the way.

Highly recommend using the Trail to get in shape. 1/10 mile markers help gage how far you go. Watch our for the hills!

Several stations along the way where you can park your car, go to the restroom, get your bike repaired or rent one if needed. This is one of my favorite bike trails in central florida. "Old Florida" feeling created by the old homes and all the landscapes sights, trees/hanging moss etc..Love it!

There is parking at the Killarney Station stop as well as restrooms. The trail, does have some stop signs because there are housing development entrances along the trail. It is not flat like a rail trail but the gentle hills are a nice change. We did about one third.

West Orange trail is a great place for a bike ride or walk. The path is paved, wide, and in great condition. There are really only a couple places where you need to cross a road of any size and the crossing are really well marked. You feel like you are miles away from the busy city life.

Looking for something to do that is away from all the tourists and crowds of Orlando, drive 30mins west to Winter Garden and rent bikes. Ride/run/walk the West Orange Trail, super pleasant, shaded, flat for novice riders. The town of Winter Garden is very nice. Great restaurants and coffee shops. Nice place to stroll and spend the afternoon.

We rented some bikes with some friends, and did about an 11 mile ride along the orange trail. Very nice, easy ride, with really no hills or steep grades. Lots of people seem to use the trail for biking, walking, or jogging, but we had no problems with any of them. The trail seems to be well taken care of, and we really enjoyed being on it. Great little thing to do to wind down.

We visited Killarney Station and hired bikes for an afternoon, this was an amazing way to experience Florida and I would highly recommend it. The trails are well maintained and going through the city of Winter Gardens was a lovely surprise. We're definitely going to make a second visit during our stay in Florida.

This is a popular trail but even so it is quiet during the week. Pets are allowed and doggie bag stands can be found.

I use this Trail all the time. I feel it is safe. It is a good Trail to walk, jog and ride a bike. You can go a short or long distance. It connects to the Trail in Lake County which makes it nice. The West Orange Trail goes right through downtown Winter Garden so you can eat, shop and if you have bike problems, there are two bike shops.

Very impressed overall with the West Orange Trail. We biked from the Killarney station (the start point in Orange County) to the Chapin station, about 7 miles, then back.
The trail is well maintained and mostly free of dangerous intersection crossings. The busiest area is navigating downtown Winter Garden, but there were more pedestrians than cars. I like that there are several bike shops literally on the trail, and rental rates are reasonable. The only improvement I'd like to see are mile markers every half mile.
Looking forward to visiting again soon and doing the whole trail. There's so much to see and do, allow at least four hours, especially if you stop downtown for lunch and shopping.

This 'rails to trails' facility will become the Coast to Coast Trail. It now extends through western Orange County to central Lake County. in Orange County the 'count' is 26,000 people per month. Plenty of Trailhead facilities and it goes thru downtown Winter Garden.

We rode 27 miles from Winter Garden and down to Lake Apopka and enjoyed every minute of it. The trail is in great shape, the people on it were friendly and on just about anything you can think of - from joggers to skaters to bike and trikes and some weird hand-controlled skateboard! What a great great way to spend the day on a weekend to unwind from the week. Loved it.

My wife and I were looking for a paved bicycle trail in Orlando that would afford us a comfortable, safe, semi-shady ride in 87 degree weather. The West Orange Trail fit the bill. We rented our first tandem bike at West Orange Trail Bikes and Blades and off we went towards Winter Garden. The Trail has a few rolling slopes which surprised me for Florida but we didn't have to do much shifting. Winter Garden is probably the best place to stop for refreshments at its various restaurants and ice cream shops. Cute town. We were provided with a Trail map showing all the stations along the way. I believe the Trail is just over 20 miles each way but we only tackled 13 each way. We'll do the entire Trail on our next visit. The Trail crosses several roads but most are side streets with limited traffic. The Trail wasn't crowded on a Wednesday but I suspect otherwise on the weekends.

I often ride on the West Orange Trail with friends. The many trail heads give you plenty of options for where to start and how long you want to ride. The fact that water fountains and bathrooms are available at trail heads and "comfort stations" can be fount at many outposts is an added bonus.
A couple of years ago, the South Apopka section got a bad reputation for being dangerous. I have not found that to be true. Caution is always recommended no matter where you park your car or where you ride.
I have walked the trail with my husband many times and enjoy the opportunities offered by the shade trees.
Whether you ride or walk, you will enjoy the West Orange Trail.

Always well kept and maintained trail. They provide restrooms and air pumps and in some ares refreshments for the many people using the trail. One of the nicest bike trails I've ever seen. When it goes thru winter garden you will feel as if you stepped back in time. Awesome!! Many little restaurants and little ice cream shops etc...in winter garden.

Looked up this trail before our March break vacation in Florida. It was EXCELLENT!
We brought all 5 bikes for our family - everybody loved it. Trails are smoothly paved and no big hills. Goes through little historic towns which allow for breaks to purchase ice cream, etc.
Loved it!

This paved trail winds through western Orange County from Lake Co. to Apopka. It's amazing going through downtown Winter Garden; stop at the French bakery!

Looking forward to this trail given all of the positive reviews. Our experience was decidedly less positive. Starting out from Killarney Station the first couple of miles were promising. The trail weaved through the woods with a two lane back road intermittently alongside. Then, we hit the explosion of subdivisions in Lake County. The trail was bisected continuously by subdivision roads and we were now riding directly alongside a divided four lane highway. Given all this newly generated traffic, it was not a complete surprise that we witnessed a over the top speed trap by Lake County sheriff deputies. So much for bucolic.

This is a very nice, well maintained trail in central Florida. Although it has a lot of at-grade crossings most of the crossings are low volume so it's not a problem. Also, it's nice how the trail was incorporated through the center of the Winter Garden historic district. Other nice features include the old train stations have been renovated to include restrooms and bicycle service stations. A favorite stop is a short detour from the trail to a winery that is only .7 miles from the trail.

Difficult to follow the trail on a bicycle without getting lost of off course. Needs clearly visible signs on which way to go to remain on the trail. Otherwise it is a nice trail and a very enjoyable ride.

What a beautiful trail. Winding down this trail you forget you are in Florida. The canopied sections are just beautiful, peaceful and calm. Part of the trail runs through downtown historic Winter Garden, and even over the Florida turnpike via a re-purposed railway trestle - very cool by the way. The people are generally curteous and nice, but when crowded you can get a bunch of people who are rude, arrogant and sometimes dangerous, as you do anywhere - sad about that. It is one of the most beautiful trails in Central Florida. Beginning cyclists would find the trail very challanging in spots. There are some street crossings along the way and they require caution, but much of the trail is hidden in the woods and just wonderful to experience.

This was a really fun trail! We rented bikes for two hours and rode from Killarney to past Winter Garden. Lots of pretty trees and cute towns and neighborhoods. Nice way to see the area!

I have watched the West Orange Trail develop from it's inception and think it is a great attribute to the West Orange Community---as well as the Apopka Community. I like walking my dog on the trail and entering off of Clarcona-Ocoee just behind the Buddist Temple. This area is shady for about a mile and a half and you can turn around and return, cross over Clarcona, head toward Apopka and still be under a canopy of trees for awhile. There are benches along the way and the trailhead in Apopka and Winter Garden and Oakland area have restrooms. It is paved and very safe. You will see people walking, biking, jogging, skating and roller blading. Travel all the way into Winter Garden for lunch, a charming Florida town with lots to offer---need a bike? Rent one in town . Do you like to geocache? There are a few hidden along the way! The trail is 22 miles in length running from Killarney Station (old state road 50) to Apopka, ending at Welch Road where the Publix is located. From the Killarney Station there is now a spur trial link on the South Lake/Lake Minneola scenic trail to Clermont. Future plans are to include the trail as part of a Central Florida 200 mile Loop! Get out and enjoy this free West Orange Florida gem!

Wide, well-kept, shelters, markers, water jugs, bathrooms, bike shops, Florida hills, eateries along the way, and lots else to do.

This trail goes from Clermont to Apopka about 25 miles through towns and. citrus groves. The best place to stop is in Winter Garden where you can have lunch and a nice break. There are comfort stations alone the way. Most of the trail has shade trees and there are enough hills to make the trail interesting. You will not be disappointed if you are an outdoors person.

If your looking for something to take up a day the west orange day is a lovely day out. You can start at Killarney station and it finishes 22 miles later up past the last station Apopka station. It’s a lovely cycle path mostly flat, with lots of beautiful scenery to take in along the way. You pass through Winter Garden and you can stop for lunch. It’s cheaper to hire bike for full day rather that by the hour.

This has been indeed a very wonderful experience to be able to ride off road on my 1951 Fleet Wing Bicycle. The rest stops are first rate and this trail should be the model for all of them. Bravo Orange County

We did the West Orange Trail as a group and really loved it. A nice mix of flat, roll, urban, and natural. The trail through Winter Garden has lots of places to stop and get a bite or just watch people. There are several parks/rest areas along the way including a few with bike shops. We took a short break at one to wait out a quick rain squall! The ride natural areas are very pretty and the shade of live oak tunnels is always welcome.
The long version get hilly at the end and is a bit confusing. Saw snapping turtle and a soft shell in the trail for the wildlife experience.

This is a very well maintained bicycle trail. Actually it is a multi use trail. You will see people hiking running and biking this trail. Some areas are shady and wooded other areas go past residential neighborhoods. Nice destination on the trail is the town of Winter Garden for morning coffee and pastry breakfast or lunch.

The map of the trail (on the the board outside the bike rental in Killarney Station) is misleading. The arrow on the top of the sign points north, but you are facing south. When we came out of the bike rental we went to the right and ended up on South Lake Trail. After going up a number of steep hills we realized we were going the wrong way.

We rode the whole trail both ways, it was a nice mix of new and old Florida. It goes through Winter Garden where you can eat or shop. There are a few other places along the way where you could get a bite to eat. There are bike shops at the 3 stations. It is largely flat with a few hills. It was a little cold for Florida the day we did it so it was not crowded at all. I expect it could get crowded on nice weekends.

I'm a Brit, and a proud one, but I have to bow to the USA when it comes to public recreation. WoT is part of the US Rails to Trails program: 22 miles of asphalted trail, around 10ft wide. You can cycle (we have), walk (we have), Nordic Walk (we have, and we even teach it), and roller blade (Susan has). It would also be an excellent place to go if you're in a wheelchair and want some fresh air, or if you have kids in strollers.
The trail is well maintained, the restrooms are as clean as you have at home. The scenery is great, there are places to sit, places to picnic, places to park. And down at Killarney Station there is "Bikes and Blades" where the friendly man fixed Susan's wobbly handlebars and wouldn't take payment.
My only criticism is that the maps are rubbish, but I'm fixing that by visiting all of the stations and outposts, fixing the locations using my GPS, and plotting them all on Google Earth and Google Maps, and I'll publish the results, with pictures, on Every Trail as soon as I've finished.

This trail is a super find ..... We started at Killarney Station and went all the way up to Apopka and back. There are many stops / restrooms (stations) along the way .. One of which provided tools if needed :)
It was a Sunday morning and it is clearly very popular with locals.

The whole trail from Killarney to Apopka is well maintained and a nice flat, easy ride. There are numerous places to park and start your ride. The Apopka end of the trail is less travelled, which can be good on weekends when usage is heavy at the other end of the trail. Try starting at Apopka Station or Spin City Cycles (2 blocks from the trail and offers rentals). Mileage markers are yellow oval signs on the trail, and are located every 1/10th of a mile, starting at the Killarney Station and ending at mile 19.2 in Apopka.

The western portion through Oakland, Tildenville, and Winter Garden are my favorite part because it has a variety of neighborhoods, a lot of shade since much of it is tree lined but it gets busy on weekends with pedestrians and roller blazers. The trail is wide, well paved, and smooth. My favorite trailhead is Chaplin Station east of Winter Park. It has all you need plus a beautifully maintained memorial garden for resting if you decide to ride the full length of the trail. The Oakland Trailhead just received a huge upgrade: a brand new visitor center with very clean bathrooms!

This is a fantastic trail and stretches for several miles through Apopka, Winter Garden and beyond. We biked 26 miles of it last month and enjoyed every minute of it. It's completely paved for bikes, strollers, walkers and runners to enjoy, with plenty of shady areas and benches along the way. A stop in Winter Garden's downtown for lunch, coffee or a cold drink is a plus. Winter Garden is such a lovely town and very 'strollable' and 'bikable'. Be extremely careful if you enter the Apopka area. The trail takes you through a very neglected area of town with many scary characters loitering along the trail, drug activitiy in the open. People have been attacked and robbed a lot in that area, even mid day. We do not enter that area without carrying a weapon (and permit) to be quite frank. Apopka needs to do a better job of guarding the safety of the public or shut down that part of the trail to unsuspecting individuals.

I ride this trail twice a week, and have for the last 10 years. It is one of the main reasons I started riding after I retired.
It is a safe, car free, well paved trail through many beautiful sections of trees and country side. Very relaxing and theroputic even at 15 mph with a heart rate of 130 bpm.
There are many Trailheads with parking and bathrooms and water.
One of the most unique parts of the trail is that goes literally right down the middle of the Main Street of Winter Garden with all the Reataurents, shops, bike stores (Winter Garden Wheel Works is the best in the state), coffee shops, ice cream stores, etc.on either side of the brick paved streets. What a great place to stop for a break, or, end up for lunch or dinner or happy hour.
Obviously the bike trail is a little busy thru Town, but it thins out fast on either side. Saturday is a big Green Market in town, and weekend running/jogging events are common on the trail. They do a good job keeping everyone separated and safe. Even car drivers are so accustomed to bicyclist that the give us space and keep us safe (mostly).
So Ride and Enjoy. I'm the guy on a yellow Bacchetta recumbent.

We're regular visitors to Florida but this was our first time riding the West Orange Trail and we loved it. We rented bikes from 'Bikes and Blades' and set off through pretty neighbourhoods, which turned into beautiful wooded areas and about five miles later arrived in Winter Garden which is a small scenic town. We cycled about ten miles before turning back to return the bikes, and every single mile was well maintained and immaculate. The part we did was fairly flat and easy going so great for all abilities. Next time we're going to set off at the other end and see what surprises Lake Apopka has to offer. Highly recommended.

Relatively flat with nice scenery. Wide path, well maintained. Great for biking, running, walking and anything else on wheels!

I live in winter garden and i am a local rider. I feel the trail is very safe and there are plenty of resting places. The trip through Oakland is is nice with the nature trail to get off and rest. It is nice a flat and you come across joggers, roller bladders and walkers, so share the trail!!!!

The West Orange Trail is a fantastic trail on which to bike, run, walk, etc. Every weekend you'll see folks of all ages and fitness levels taking advantage of the nicely paved walkways. It's also nice because depending on where you start and which direction you go - it can be a completely different experience. Go towards Clermont, and there are hills galore; through small town America in Winter Garden; even a temple if you go far enough. It's a great thing in the community, and I am glad for it.

I love riding this trail! My wife and I started at Apopka-Vineland outpost and headed west to Winter Garden. This outpost is nice with ample parking, picnic pavilion, and it's in the backyard of Chua Bao An Buddhist Temple. Beautiful and photogenic. This area is very hilly and starts out wooded, goes around a golf course, and then through Winter Garden. Amazing ride with lots to see and do. Stopped at Breakfast Club for a great meal along the way. West Orange Trail is highly recommended!

Get trail to get some exercise. Florida is of course mostly flat but a couple of hills to work you out and geocaches.

My 14 year old and I rode this trail and had a lovely day. We started at the Killarney station and rode to just past the Chaplin Station and back. The weather was perfect and the trail is beautifully maintained. There are plenty of stops with restrooms and water. We biked through downtown Winter Garden. It was decorated for Christmas and absolutely charming.
I would highly recommend spending a day riding this trail, taking in the sights and grabbing some lunch along the way in one of the restaurants.

The West Orange trail ride is as long as you want it to be. We started at Clarcona rd up to winter garden. Very nice trail.

We rode from Killarney Station to Buddhist Temple and back. (Approx 28 mi round trip) Kyle's Bike Shop gave us very nice rental bikes (although one had tire that punctured twice, luckily they included tubes & inflator cartridges and my son was a pro at repairs) and were SO helpful & friendly guiding us to this beautiful, varied, fun trail. The town of Winter Garden was a perfect place to stop on way back to eat lunch, dessert, visit cute shops and if your timing is right (ours wasn't), visit a railroad museum....Free! If weather is good when you ride, leave time to hang in this town. FYI: Local cyclists told us NOT to ride to Apopka, saying it was not safe.

The bike and roller blading system is well maintained. It is paved and also has numerous rest stops along the trail with rest rooms and water. I live in the area and ride the trail every weekend. It is one of the best biking trails I have used myself.

I adore the West Orange Trail. If you start at Killarney Station you have the option to rent road bikes or cruisers as well as grab some bottled water. My fiancé and I always take visiting guests as a fun brunch activity. From Killarney Station to the quaint town of Winter Garden it is about 5 miles. Along the way you will see Florida wildlife along with some not so indigenous mammals at a sanctuary 1 ml in. Once you have pedaled your way to Winter Garden its time for BRUNCH! There are a multitude of local eateries offering everything from deli food to upscale tapas. My favorite place is the Chefs Table. It is a little higher end but offers a fantastic small plate menu along with tasty mimosas. If your looking for a pick me up after stuffing you face, the local coffee shop, Axum, makes some of the best specialty drinks around. The honey chai tea is to die for! After lunch has settled and the coffee has kicked in you can enjoy a leisurely 5 mile pedal back to Killarney station.

My son enjoys riding his bike there with friends. Has many access points and it is always well kept.

Recently rode this Bike Trail from the Buddhist Temple in Orlando to downtown Winter Garden. For serious Bike Riders, easy going. For the occasional ride, many low grade but steady climbing hills that are quite long, a few fairly steep as you get close to Winter Garden. Can get a good work out, but not a lot of scenery and long stretches that can be a bit boring and hot as only a few section have tree covering.

Wonderful trail that connects to the Lake Minneola trail. From the Winter Garden Station, you wind your way through 13 beautiful miles to Lake Minneola....take a break and enjoy the beauty of the lake! The return trip for us always ends at the Winter Garden Pizza Company! Newly repaved and remarked with position finders.

One of the nicest, well maintained Bicycle Trails in Central Florida. It connects north east to the Apopka Trail, and south west to the Lake County Trail. It right through the center of Winter Garden's restored downtown, with restaurants and bike stores. It is very family friendly, and very safe.
I typically ride from the north Buddha Temple trailhead, to Winter Garden, and on to Lake Miniola at Claremont, and back.
Toilet facilities and drinking water are available at multiple Trail Heads along the trail.

We started at the Chapin Station and rode down through Winter Gardens - all the way down to the southern terminus of the trail, which was about 18 miles round trip. The section through Winter Gardens is nice. There are plenty of shops and places to eat. We stopped and enjoyed lunch on our return back to Chapin. There are restroom at each station, along with a bike shop at a couple of them. I would highly recommend riding this trial if you are in central Florida.

This is the third time we have used this trail and I can not say enough positive about this great and inexpensive way to entertain yourself for the day. Ride at your own pace and their are plenty of places to stop and look around or even if you need to stop and take a rest. If your family is looking for a great way to spend a day this is the place to do it. Bike, Run, Walk, Spending time with friends, family and more!

peace and quiet. I Like The Safety I felt While Walking by Myself . The Other Walkers Were Very Friendly. I Enjoyed Watching The Squirrels Run Up And Down The Trees As I Went by.

Whether you bike, roller blade or walk / jog - this is the ultimate place to spend the day. Miles and miles of paved, user friendly trails that extend to Apopka to the North and Cleremont to the South. Restrooms, drinks, playground at the beginning of the trail. Approx. 2 blocks from downtown Winter Garden with loads of restaurnats for lunch, pizza, ice cream and frozen yogurt. Winter Garden also has a new "splash pad" where kids can cool off afterwards. Why not plan a nice family day?

My boyfriend and I,accompanied by my trusty dog Vici, started out on the trail at Magnolia Park Trailhead on a lazy Sunday morning. We planned to walk to the Pumphouse, eat a picnic lunch and rest a while before heading back. The trail starts on the west side of Magnolia Park, near Lake Apopka and you walk North-ish a on a paved path next to a busy road before entering the 'wild' part of trail which takes you alongside a swamp to your right and a canal on your left before coming to the lake. Trail continues along the lakeside and swamp continues on right. There were two resting areas with a picnic table at each. We made it to the second rest area...my boyfriend guesstimates we walked 2 miles and being that I am a bad judge of distance, I'll have to take his word for it. It turns out that the pumphouse isn't 2 miles down Trail, it's 4 miles!! 😮 Never would have made it walking. Next time I'll bring a bicycle.
The trail itself was okay but the scenery was boring until we got to the lake..even though we saw an alligator in the canal. At the first rest stop there's an old bare cypress tree that was being used by a variety of water birds...couldn't tell you what kind. There were very few people on the trail also..only about 4 cyclists and one other walker.
I'll admit I was thinking of all kinds of terrible scenarios that could befall me if I ever went walking there alone...with the canals and lake on one side ( gators) and swamp on the other( snakes, coyote, bear)...there's not a lot of places to run to if you need help and are alone.
All in all it's okay, but bring water( none available between Trailhead and pumphouse), snacks, a buddy and a bicycle unless you're up to a 4 mile hike one-way. Would be better if drinking water was available.

Too bad we chose such a hot day to bike this trail; it started out being shaded by jungle-like trees, but eventually opened up to sun, sun, and more sun. Not great for a 90 degree bike ride. Nevertheless, it's a great workout, lots of hills (who knew there are so many hills in Florida?!), good views of lakes, lots of home developments, well maintained and well marked and offers good side trips to Winter Garden. West Orange Trail Bikes & Blades is a good start point, both because of its equipment rental, advice, and rest room facilities. Oh, and the rocking chairs on its porch!

We drove from Orlando to Winter Garden (the West Orange Trail) to do some biking. It was a perfect day - 80's but not humid and lots of sun. We rented bikes at Bikes and Blades (don't forget to ask for a bike lock!). The guy that rented them didn't know much about the trail since he had never ridden it (doesn't ride bikes) - found that odd. The map is detailed and it is basically a straight 22 mile trail then you turn around and bike back (it does not loop around). The first 5.5 miles takes you into Winter Garden. Since the bike rental does not open until 11am we stopped for lunch at Moon Cricket and were able to eat outside. Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos were awesome. The bike rentals are $6 an hour or $30 a day but they don't calculate the cost until you return which I thought was very nice. The bikes were also in very good shape. We noticed a lot of people with their own bikes of course and walkers as well. There are long stretches of sun so walking for some might not be a great option if it is a very warm day. Don't forget sunblock. My husbands arms were beat red after only an hour of biking.

Great day out on a bike.
Good for a casual family day out, or a fast pace training ride on a race bikes. Some stuff to see as well.. a few shops, some casual foody joints and the odd bar. Worth stopping at the animal sanctuary. Also worth pulling off the trail to see the lake at various points along the way. Very safe and easy. Completely flat, good surface and no motor vehicles.
Excellent rental store at the head of the trail.

Highly recommended. Excellent service. Excellent everything in fact. Got in touch with them before I left the UK. They were extremely helpful (above and beyond) at every step of the process. Pre-booked the bike, and then had a great all day 's ride ( the trail leaves from right outside the shop).
Search is over
While staying in Kissimmee we searched for a long, paved and a bit shaded bike trail with restrooms and water at frequent intervals. We finally came across this one, picking it up on at a park with bike shop at 455 W Plant St , Winter Garden, Fla. It was the best we've encountered anywhere. It is 5 miles from Winter Garden, a charming town with a great BBQ restaurant, Harry and Larry's, among others. In the other direction, we biked abt 10 miles before turning back for lack of energy, not trail!
