In town for a motorcycle rally and it was a must to visit the museum. Definitely give yourself a couple hours to wander around. There is LOTS to see!!!!

This is a great place!

Loved seeing all the vintage motorcyles. Matt, the owner was great, he took my 79 year old mother on a ride around the parking lot and building in the side car of one of the vintage motorcycles!!! She LOVED it!!!

Unbelievable collection

By Michelle P |

I mainly went for my husband, but I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed it too. Our 8 year old daughter was well occupied as well.

I have never seen a collection like this. Well worth the time and visit.

Motorcycle museum

By Paddy S |

We went through the museum it was a great place we were there for 3hr.i would have stayed longer if we were by ourselves .we had 3 more couples they said that they really had a great time. The employees were so nice. If you wanted to hear a bike run they would start it for you.took a chance on a1936 Harley Davidson EL Knucklehead. I hope I win!!

What a fun time with history!

By snidley |

I was there opening day, and had a blast. So many motorcycles were fired up and the people there are just the best. This has to be the coolest thing seeing a 104 year old motorcycle not only start up, but be driven!

Great museum visit for motorcycle enthusiasts!

By luvs2BB4fun |

This Museum is a must see for anyone who is a motorcycle enthusiast. My husband and I planned our visit to the Maggie Valley area on the recommendation of a friend who had previously visited there. His recommendation did not disappoint! We really enjoyed the museum. Make sure you allow plenty of time to enjoy this museum as it truly has much to see!

WOW FACTOR

By RMeads |

The visit here was just outstanding. So much to see. Also the staff was very friendly and presented a lot of history and information on different cycles on hand. I think the most interesting is the whole story on probably one of the the rairest motorcycles in the world. I will be back again.

Awesome place for motorcycle fans

By bikerbabe77 |

This is a really awesome place. We visited in September and the weather was rainy but not too cold. It is a really cool motorcycle museum that takes you back through time with motorcycles from older years. The place is huge and lots of stuff to take in. Plan for a full day. They also auction off a motorcycle each year.

Wow...what an interesting look back into the past!

By Butterflydays |

This was a second tour of this museum. (Saw it earlier this year, but a time factor didn't allow for a complete tour of this awesome place). If you are in Maggie Valley, NC this is a must see destination. Just down the strip is a neat little motel called Cardinal Inn. Excellent place to stay near Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum.

Amazing! A must for anyone who rides!

By Tina D |

The entire staff is fantastic! Lots of knowledgeable people giving you history on the every bike in the museum. They even run some of the bikes while you are there. Worth every bit of the 1300 miles my wife and I rode to see it.

Wow! Well worth the trip. Best Attraction in the Gatlinburg area.

By paid4c4 |

Dale, the owner greeted us at the door and made himself available for questions and commentaries. He started a number of motorcycles and cars telling about them as he started them. Two floors of old motorcycles, cars, machinery and just about anything Harley! A nice selection of T's and ball caps. If you are into motorcycles this is a have to see destination. Thanks Dale for a great visit.

Wheels through time

This place was great. I would have never thought it would be so interesting. My husband wanted to go, we tagged along at it was well worth the time and money. Amazing place to visit.

A complete museum of motorcycles from day one

By Bill H |

This is the most complete collection of motorcycles I have ever seen. They have bikes from the early 1900's to some custom Harley's of today. Well worth the price of admission.

Highlight of our trip!

By awsm302 |

What a collection of vintage American motorcycles. Was a treat to get to see all of those bikes in one place. Enjoyed it very much. Worth the price of admission.

A must see for anyone

By Audioman150 |

This is an incredible museum to visit. Dale has done an awesome job showing the history of the American motorcycles for genterations to come. You do not have to like motorcycles to come to this place, its an amazing place and the staff in very friendly.

Very interesting!

By holmz |

This was a pretty cool stop on our journey. What I like about it is that there is a lot of history here, and the bikes are not all in pristine, showroom floor condition. You can see where they've been used and loved (and sometimes abused!). The staff was very friendly and roamed around telling you interesting things or answering questions. We went at the beginning of September, and it was pretty warm in the building which meant we didn't stay as long as we would have (especially upstairs), but it was still worth the stop. There's more than just Harleys here, a few special cars, etc., but it's mostly Harley Davidsons.

This place was packed full of awesomeness!!!!

By 281calvins |

I did not expect this museum to be that good, but wanted to see a few things I knew were there. I was so pleasantly surprised by ow great this place is. Do not miss this place if you are in the area.

Great Experience!

By Debbie C |

This was our second visit to Wheels Through Time, so much to see! We really enjoy looking at all the motorcycles & the history of them all. There is so much to see in the museum, you see something new every time you go!

Best......bikes............ever

By Doctor C |

A good first stop to Maggie Valley. Wasn't disappointed whatsoever. Bikes bikes everywhere. As a biker, i appreciated this place immensely.

The aura was a little not inviting for me but that a personal quirk.

We were greeted without any issues.

Walked through and the history of the bikes was phenomenal. I highly recommend going here.

An Awesome Collection of Wheels of All Kinds

By Moose1956 |

Anyone who enjoys history and motor bikes and antique cars will love this place. I spent an hour plus strolling through this vast collection and enjoyed every minute. It’s amazing to see how far technology has advanced. It’s especially nice to see them offer a discount to military veterans.

Amazing place! R.I.P. Dale - We miss you.

By StreetGlide S |

I LOVE this place. In fact I like it SO much that when I am out riding, if I meet another rider while I'm out I almost always ask if they have been to Wheels Through Time -- whenever the answer is "Nope" I make sure that we schedule a ride! Great way to meet new friends and turn them on to one of the most incredible places on the PLANET! Every time I go I see something that I have missed in the past. It is a BARGAIN at $15 and I swear you could spend days there and not see everything.

Interesting Harley Museum

By lorab108 |

If you are a Harley fan, you will enjoy this museum. You can spend as much time as desired here. We walked it at a comfortable pace in an hour and a half.

Finest Collection Of Running Bikes

By straman |

The main focus of the collection is Harley Davidson, but............. there are also some other rare beautiful machines. I am not necessarily a big H-D, but rather am just a passionate motorcycle enthusiast. This is one of the finest and largest displays I have ever experienced. Besure and find tour guide Andy Norris, his bubbling personality, enthusiasm and knowledge of the entire collection will take your experience to whole new level.

Elite collection of motorcycles - must see to believe

By retiredJB |

This contains two stories of motorcycles, some cars, and an airplane. Beautifully displayed. So many rare motorcycles and interesting stories about them. I had to rush to get out of there in an hour. Also have custom jewelry made from motorcycle parts. Staff enjoys interacting with visitors.
They do have military and senior admission price discounts.

Great place for wheel / bike enthusiast.

By Pamela K |

All kinds of bikes, engines, cars. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Even saw Dale walking around. His son, Matt, started a bike and car while we were there. You could spend a week there and not see everything!

Family vacation

By NewWife2019 |

Whole family loved it! Worth the money and everyone so friendly and informative! Spent several hours there! Lots of history

wonderful experience

By medeacorp m |

We spent virtually the whole day there - 10.30 am - 4.00 pm and enjoyed it immensely,
The staff were fantastic and very helpful , we had museum staff coming up to us and wanting to know if we had any questions , plus they were constantly holding talks around the machines plus starting the bikes and cars , it was a fantastic day , if you have any interest in motorcycles , machinery of different kinds ,you will be in your element here ,

Get on your bike and ride to Wheels Through Time!

By Kenneth L |

I can't say enough good about this place. It is definitely a trip back in time from the display arrangements to the actual cars, motorcycles and memorabilia. I could spend all day here but they do have a closing time! LOL. So much to see and the stories of some of the bikes is amazing. Take all the photos you like. This is a family friendly living museum. EVERTHING in the museum RUNS! And the entry fee is wonderful as it actually funds the museum.

Tour

By John G |

Wheels Through Time is very worthwhile to take time and visit. Unique museum that starts several bikes and cars during your visit. They have some very rare items. Friendly knowledgeable folks are in the museum to answer any questions. Highly recommend taking time to walk through the exhibition.

Every motorcyclist should make a pilgrimage here

By Craig O |

Although it caters to vintage American bikes, any biker will have a great experience. It's a bit overwhelming to take in in one visit so I'll have to get back!

Plan on spending 2 hours or more in this premier motorcycle shrine

By James S |

Anyone who rides, or has ever ridden, a motorcycle must make the pilgrimage to Maggie Valley, NC to experience this enchanting and extensive collection of motorcycle history. Displays range from meticulous recreations to honest-to-goodness unrestored bikes in their original surroundings. Wheels Through Time is not a sideshow, it's a destination worthy of your time.

INCREDIBLE

By Hendo1cote |

We thoroughly enjoyed this walk through history!! I recommend everyone who luvs motorcycles and vintage cars to definitely not miss this one! So glad we went!!

Must see for motorcyclist!

Favorite place in Maggie Valley

By Pbm686 |

My husband is a huge fan of Dale's show in TV and this museum is the entire reason we planned our trip to Maggie Valley. It did not disappoint! Huge collection of bikes and they even started some for us. Awesome way to spend several hours! Just make sure to check the days you are traveling against the days it is open! We would have been very disappointed to have missed this place and it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays!

Cageless Ridings MECCA

By Motorcycle Mike |

The 11 year old in you will come pouring out and the placement of the historic Motors will have you wanting to become cageless if you aren't

Very interesting. Worth stopping in Maggie Valley.

By ronjo81 |

Drove through Maggie Valley on the way to Harrah’s to see this place. Had no idea the collection would be so extensive. Wonderful experience. Staff were eager to answer questions. Very nice and helpful. We spent just over 2 hours here. Hand stamp after admission so you can take a break outside and go back in. Bargain in the gift shop… buy raffle tickets for a Harley and get a free t-shirt and dvd.

The museum that runs!

By Anne L |

Wonderful collection of old motorcycles, and they all run! They are artfully displayed so you feel like you have stepped back in time.

Cool place whether you are into motorcycles or not!

By scottybread |

This has to be one of the largest, most valuable collections of motorcycles in the world! We spent two hours going through and really enjoyed the displays, even though we are not motorcycle enthusiasts.

Motorcycle Mania and other motorized vehicles

By Joni M F |

Allow a few hours to see it all from the historic motorized cycles to Indians, Harleys, racing bikes and memorabilia from decades of traveling by motorcycle. Biker haven.

Wonderful visit!

By MSRcpa |

Excellent place to view the history of motorcycles and see vintage motorcycles and motorcycle memorabilia. Not a motorcycle buff, but had a great time!

Motorcycle Heaven

By Gjr47 |

In this 38,000 square foot building are more motorcycles and motorcycle parts than you can imagine. Many of the bikes have been restored, but many are original and all are American. There are areas of interest such as hill climbers, choppers, racing bikes and a few of the first motorcycles that look like bicycles with little motors. Just when you think you have seen them all, you turn a corner and there are even more. There are tons of motorcycle memorabilia in display cases as well. And, if antique bikes isn't your thing, there are several restored automobiles of various eras to enjoy. The staff was very friendly and answered our questions without rushing. There is also a small gift shop. Do check their website, however, because they are opened seasonally (between April and November) and closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you have an interest in motorcycles and are traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway, stop off and enjoy a few hours here.

Fantastic display like no other!

By Jr H |

If you are into motorcycles, go there! You will see some of the most awesome vehicles in the world! From the earliest to the latest. Plenty of room and hundreds of motorcycles on display along with accessories. If I understood the guide correctly, the reason that there are pans under each motorcycle is because every one of them will start and run!

Really cool if you’re into bikes and their history.

By Michelle N |

This was our first time visiting the museum. There are a ton of bikes inside. The owner has really found a way to make a business out of his hobby and done a spectacular job of doing so. It isn’t just a bunch of bikes etc thrown into a building. He has designed it so that is displayed in a setting from the era it is from. There is a lot of history and documents supporting the items(s) on display. They also have a nice gift shop. The owner and/or employees come around a start several of the items on display and are very knowledgeable. They tell stories and answer any questions you have. I’m sure the guys have a much better understanding but being a female I also found it very interesting. Wheels Through Time is definitely worth a visit. The $15 admission is reasonable as well.

great place

By Patrick R |

I can`t imagine a better place to show the history all the way back to the 1800`s of the history of early motorized transportation. Much more than just a motorcycle museum !

WOW Motorcyle heaven

By Butch R |

Having been to Maggie Valley several times throughout the years, and seeing but not really paying attention to this place. But after having watched the TV shows that feature this and the owner, of course we had to return and pay a visit. First let me explain, I am not a motorcycle kind of person. I don't ride, but do appreciate the ingenuity and notoriety of the motorcycle culture. I'm also a mechanic by trade and am an avid car nut, so Wheels Through Time is a must stop. This place is unbelievable. I was expecting motorcycles, but this place is exploding with the history of the motorcycle and anything to do with motorcycles, period. There are of course several cars and trucks here as well as a small homebuilt airplane. But the most amazing things are the number of parts and relics that are a part of this working museum, All motorcycles run in here from the very early Indians, Harleys, Excelsior's, Henderson's, to even a Sears and Roebuck or two. The staff here is really knowledgeable and friendly, and we were very impressed with our entire experience. This is a must see, must stop for any gearhead when in the Smokey Mountains. I'd say well over 200 motorcycles alone.
Oh, we missed Dale Walksler, but a very friendly Aussie was willing to answer and explain everything in the museum. Betty was very friendly, and we enjoyed our conversation with her about her part in this museum. They do have a show production ongoing here, and the studio is on premises, so there may be some interruption during your trip as with any reality show filming. still, worth the stop. Keep up the fantastic work, very heart warming to see this type of display.

A MUST SEE

By christine c |

Great museum so much to see, so much history! What a great place Dale built and son is carrying on. The volunteers recounting all the history and answering questions is priceless. Thank you to everyone carrying on Dale's legacy. God bless.

Enjoyable even for a non motorcycle person

By Cynde A |

The whole reason for coming to Maggie Valley was because my husband wanted to see this museum. Not something I would have done on my own, but I really enjoyed it! I'm sure my husband enjoyed it on a totally different level and he seemed really happy! Staff was super sweet and very helpful.

Must go

By Roxanne W |

This was a great experience they have motorcycles from as far back as 1903 and they all run Dale the founder and curator walks around and st arts some of them up Ev3n if you are not a motorcycle enthusiast you need to go

Lots to See

By catstolove |

A lot of History!!! Enjoyed our Visit, they offer some History of some of their Inventory, very interesting learning about the about the Cycles & how they were used during the era of their time. A must Stop while visiting the area for sure!!

Why one star?

By David C |

Why 1 star? This is a wonderful museum, but the exhaust and gas fumes were so bad we had to leave after 15 minutes. All 4 of us felt ill. 2 of us were motorcycle enthusiasts and had worked in many garages, none with fumes like this.

We commented to the person behind the front counter & the response was, “It’s always like this.” I had visited a couple of years ago with our grandchildren and spent a hour in the museum & there were no fumes. They have ventilation fans, but none were turned on.

This place is under new management and sadly it shows. This place is a health risk.

How have I missed this place

By surfgermany |

Great place so much to see and talk to the owners/workers about the bikes and yes they mostly all run he cranked up at least 6 while we where there. 15 bucks but a good 2-3 hours if Early American Iron is your thing.

Most impressive!

By David B |

I was amazed at the number of bikes and especially the rarity of some. Wasn't really expecting much when I got there but was blown away after the first five minutes.

So much to look at, Wow!

By Joan M |

I really enjoyed seeing the old and new bikes, I loved it that some are in the same condition as when they were found; dirt and all. There are many antique items on the walls to keep your attention as well as a few old cars in the building. Maggie Valley is very pretty and a great place to ride. We also got to see Matt (owners son) start one of his old bikes in the museum, that was a highlight of our visit, loud! They do offer a Military and Senior discount.

Fantastic!

By RitaB1240000 |

Great museum. So many bikes and a few other vehicles. All in running condition. Lots of information. Friendly and informed staff. Highly recommend!

An enormous collection of bikes!

By InspiredAspirations |

I brought my family and friends here and we stayed in the museum for something like 4 hours! We just didn't want to leave. The bikes in the collection are fantastic! Indians and Harleys galore with lots of great memorabilia. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and will talk with you at great lengths about the history of the bikes. Amazing place to visit when you are here in biker heaven, aka, Maggie Valley! Don't miss it!

Museum will NOT disappoint

By beachcomber36 |

Stopped here around 1pm to check this place out after reading all the good reviews were intrigued. WOW!!!! It was worth the $15 and we could have stayed for hours but we had to rush thru it and see it in an hour. You need to allow 2 hours there is so much to see. An amazing collection Dale has and some automobiles too. A couple of places to stop and watch videos that Dale himself puts on. They had 2 demonstrations while there where they actually start the motorcycles and then a rep talks about it. That made it really exciting. This is a very popular attraction and well worth the stop.

Best museum ever!!!

By Skeeter D |

The collection and the art of display was absolutely amazing. They started a few bikes while we were there including a very rare 1909 HD. Got to meet Dale and his son along with other top builders. This place shows true passion.

Must see

By BAMAs_InTheHouse |

Hundreds of running and restored motorcycles rare models, World War II current and husbands favorite with purple seat about 12 antique cars. Had cable show whats in your barn.
It is hot in museum on hot humid July day.

Super Cool Amazing Museum

By Ambulldog10 |

What an absolutely magnificent museum of motorcycle history. The staff are friendly and super knowledgeable. We even got to speak Matt and see him ride a vintage bike through his museum, I mean how cool is that. This place is a don't miss if you're in the area.

Lots of History

By bluemoonyogaharmony |

Wonderful display of motorcycles & the history. Staff was fabulous when my husband & I were there! Plan for n staying there several hours to truly enjoy.

Motorcycles galore!

By Rae1 |

Motorcycle enthusiasts everywhere will enjoy this walk thru time. The museum houses bikes from the early beginnings of the industry to present day. Knowledgeable staff is on site to answer questions, offer historical stories, and even start some of the machines. Two levels to explore including police bikes, stunt bikes, military bikes and a section on the original Motor Maids women’s biker group. Handful of mint vintage autos also on display. Definitely worth the trip.

By Dale K |

Men’s Happy Place

By wright d |

Okay, so I suggested stopping here as we were traveling, my husband had mentioned it a few times over the last few years. He really liked it, enjoyed looking at the antique motorcycles and talking with the staff who were very friendly and informative. It was ok for me, you know we have give and take in a relationship, so if you are interested in motorcycles, stop by.

Very Disappointed

By Butch |

Drove 480 miles one way to find out it was closed for the season. They were opening the next day, they wanted me to change my travel plans to accomidate there schedule. I asked if I could view the muesuem that day, they refused and were rude. I was willing to pay 4 times admission, but they refused. I was not able to change my plans and drove home 480 miles the next day. What a big disappointment. I informed them that I was not going to be able to visit this area at any other time, they did not care and were very rude about it. What a big waist of time and money. Never again and not recomended.

Spectacular selection of vintage bikes

By Bill C |

This was a destination stop for us on a recent cross country motorcycle trip. We had visited the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum earlier in the trip so our expectations were somewhat reserved since this is a smaller collection (300 bikes vs. 1600 bikes). Boy were we wrong! Wheels Through Time is a totally different experience. While Barber has immaculately restored bikes displayed in an art museum setting Wheels Through Time displays their bikes in well preserved condition as originally received. The bikes are arrayed in period vignettes as they might have appeared in daily use...garages, shops, cafes, tracks, hillclimbs, etc. While Barber presents the “art” of the motorcycle Wheels Through Time is more of a gear head facility. All of the staff (mostly family) are riders and mechanics, and they know the history and details of every bike
Intimately. Every bike is in running condition (even those over 100 years old) and the staff started several of them during our visit (usually on the first kick!). This is a place that should be on every biker’s bucket list. Plus the area is surrounded by incredible riding routes.

Amazing collection for enthusiasts

By SereneBlue |

This museum has an amazing collection of motorcycles, cars and other vehicles that cross a long span of history. Many items are displayed in historical context. It seemed that most visitors where motorcycle enthusiasts, our family was not but still enjoyed spending an hour walking around. The fumes and off gassing was a bit overpowering which shortened our visit.

Old bikes

By larry |

Many, many old motorcycles all types in various states of repair, with lots of information concerning them.

Harley heaven

By hwjones41 |

If you love motorcycles than this is the holy grail of honey holes. The Harley heaven. You won’t be disappointed even if you don’t like motorcycles. I took my wife and her friend and they had a blast.

Harley Heaven!

By Cyndy F |

If you like Harley Davidson motorcycles then you’ll love this place. It is organized and full of Harleys from every era. There are a few Indians and others but mainly Harleys. It is located about 45 minutes from Asheville NC.

Amazing place!

By Amanda H |

Oh my God, this place is amazing! We had so much fun, saw so many cool motorcycles and vintage ones too. We specifically came to Maggie Valley to visit Wheels Through Time and we were very impressed. We highly recommend you visit this very cool place, and take a trip back in time with Wheels though Time!

Vintage motorcycles, Cars, and very interesting exhibits!!

By Julie N |

First my husband and I went to the Wonderful Maggie Valley Restaurant (great Southern Food!), then we toured this wonderful museum. John and I have a 2016 Honda Gold Wing and we ride with a group based out of Peoria IL. We had ridden to Knoxville TN for the annual Wing Ding which was held in Knoxville.

John learned about this museum and it was on our way to Sevierville NC so we stopped to visit. We got there about 3 PM and spent about 1 1/2 hours there, but could have spent more time there. LOTS of vintage bikes, cars, photos and videos there. We spoke to some of the volunteers at this lovely museum (very knowledgeable) and they were able to answer any of the questions we had.

Wonderful facility!!! Highly recommend this place. For motorcycle riders, those who love motorcycles or vintage cars or bicycles. This out of the way place is a hidden gem to be sure and well worth a visit.

Awesome motorcycle history

By Rich H |

Awesome motorcycle museum! Be sure and ask for Veteran’s discount, she never asked me and I am a vet! A ton of older Harley stuff and a ton of stuff I guarantee you have never seen before. I’ll be back!

Worth Every Penny

By Fe_is_Me |

Very nice museum and we really loved how close up you could get to every bike. Employees were super knowledgeable. Fantastic experience

Absolutely amazing!

By Charlotte N |

We visited the museum this past week - while not easy to find, it was worth the effort. The museum is packed with incredible items to view and learn about. The staff is friendly and the most knowledgable folks you could ever meet. They ooze motorcycle experience & information. Even a motorcycle novice (like me) would be amazed at the contents of the museum. You can feel the pride in the atmosphere, we were totally blown away. Fun and interesting. Great admission price too.

Very cool!

By Tonya R |

So many interesting things to see and learn about! We have visited the museum twice now and still haven't seen everything!

Interesting and very well displayed!

By bigthicket |

Loved our visit here! Too us it was very worth the $15 admission. We also gave $100 for the raffle and that got us 16 tickets entered, two t- shirts, and two DVD's. Thought that was a great deal!! Will be even better if we win! We spent a little over 2 hrs here enjoying the great stories, pictures and of course the collection of motorcycles. Loved seeing the finds that Dave found through the American Pickers guy. My husband knew the whole story behind them since he'd seen the shows. He watches some of Daves shows too so we enjoyed seeing some of the stand outs from those shows in the museum as well. If in the area we would recommend stopping here.

This museum attracts from all over the world

By lakeman51 |

My wife and I were here 3 years ago. We met Dale Walksler, had our picture taken with him, and he was very kind with his time -talking with us for quite a while. We wanted to come back and see this awesome motorcycle museum again as we are big fans of the TV shows What’s in the Barn and American Restoration.
My cousin joined us this time and was totally amazed. Dale was in and out at times with his dad visiting. Matt, Dale’s son, was starting antique motorcycles and explaining the history of each one. We met so many fantastic employees including Cindy who was able to get Dale’s autograph on my cap. We also talked with Bob White as well. I should have bought 2 caps as I was able to get Dale, Matt, and Bob’s autographs on this cap. This museum and these people are incredible and you don’t need to own a motorcycle to appreciate it.

American bike history in person

By buckeyefan1316 |

If you love American motorcycles, this is a must go! The fact that every one of them will start, is remarkable. There are bikes everywhere in this museum. It’s so comfortable walking through too. You are encouraged to ask questions and enjoy at your own pace. They started up 2 bikes while we were there, just so you could fully enjoy the sounds and smells of history. We met one of Dale’s sons as we were leaving. He couldn’t have been any nicer to talk with and was so genuine (shaking all of our hands) when he asked us to come back and visit. Our son, that is 17, rides and had a great time hearing the history of the 4 cylinder engine on the Indian and why it ended being used. Very knowledgeable staff! Definitely will go back.

Interesting

By beatdrum |

Interesting, especially for motorcyclists. Little bit pricey, for me, for the admission. Worthwhile to kill some time.

Best Ever - American Motorcycles

By Joseph O |

As seen on TV, History Channel, American Archaeoligy- Pickers. Visiting this museum was the primary focus of our Vacation. I just had to come .
The museum is unbelievable, soooo much more than expected. More than bikes, the place is enormous, it goes on and, like one pick, one barn fined after another. They say every bike turns over, most start and run. The wandering employee/guides are great. They fired up bike after bike and drove them around the museum. Bring ear plugs, mufflers came on later bikes. Some bike one of a kind, probably worth millions. They showed us many unique inventions and devices from 1900.
THIS PLACE IS A MUST SEE.

Just WoW!

By Jeannine |

With some time to spare and restless kids in tow, my family and I decided to visit the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum. What a treasure trove of endless wonders! The extensive collection of motorcycles, advertisements, and memorabilia truly made us feel like we were traveling through time. There’s so much to see and absorb that it’s best to spread the visit over a couple of days to fully appreciate everything.

This place is the best. I stop in every chance I get. It doesn't matter if you are a motorcyclist, or a history buff, or an engineer, or simply want to hear some amazing stories...this museum is worth a few hours of your time. You will not leave without being amazed at the quantity and quality of the exhibits. But the real find here are the guides who will start machines that are rare, historical, and valuable inches from you. They aren't behind glass, or ropes. Almost all the pieces are right there in front of you. There is something special about hearing the sound of the bikes that rode through the second world war, or seeing the engineering involved in bringing a bicycle to form of transportation reliable for business, and travel across continents.
Each time I have to leave I feel as if there is so much more to discover within the walls. Thank you to all the people involved bringing this labor of love to life for everyone.

WOW Factor

By RMeads |

This place is truly amazing! To have such "working" history in one place. Yes, it is by far a motorcyclist dream world but any vehicle enthusiast will enjoy the visit here. The work that has gone into the restoration of some of these bikes is unbelievable.

Must See

By Brenda G |

Great motorcycle museum with live demos and info, a must see. This place is big with lots to see, displays are amazing. The building is 2 stories worth of tons of motorcycles and the story behind Dale is amazing.

Motorcycle Tour

By Chuck Garfield |

We are on a motorcycle ride and stayed in Maggie Valley just so we could go to the Museum.
What a treat!!
Bought some raffle tickets and had a great time there.
I spent about 3 hours in the building and on the grounds.
Wow isn’t the word for it.
They have really done an excellent job in putting this together.
Highly Recommend!!
Great job guys!!

Fabulous

It was Memorial Day and pouring down rain but this little gem sure did brighten our day. What a fabulous collection of bikes ! Well over 400! The wall of death was awesome!

Never expected this!

By Baefer |

A pleasant surprise! You don't have to be a biker to enjoy this museum. There are tons of bikes but other things too. Ask questions! There is an English fellow with lots of stories to tell. Made it so much more interesting. Very clean for a bike place!!

'Murican Motorcycle Museum!

By SPW777 |

Dale runs what is probably the most eclectic, entertaining and enjoyable museum for motorheads imaginable. Watch out, he might fire up an antique bike at any time!

Interesting Museum

Even if you are not a fan of
motorcycles or motorcycle history, you will enjoy this stop in Maggie Valley NC. I did!!!

Amazing History

By sippers |

My husband and I had friends visit from the Pacific Northwest, visiting this museum was on the list of things to do. We were blown away by the variety of motorcycles from very early manufacturing, to classic the cars. Plus the knowledge the gentlemen were eager to share..a definite must see. well worth your time.

Love this place.

By Angie G |

Third time we have been. Absolutely a dreamland for motorcycle lovers. It's the most amazing collection of motorcycle inspired items you will ever see. Beautiful facility and employees are super, super nice.

Impressive collection of vintage motorcycles with friendly staff.

By Geo R |

Impressive collection of vintage motorcycles. Very friendly staff. The shear enormity of vintage motorcycles in various stages from complete restorations to basket cases is a bit overwhelming. The staff is friendly, informative and eager to answer questions.

Never open !

By Hardrock H |

We have been here multiple times to visit, and always closed! I know they are going to say,we just came at the wrong time, but maybe one day we will find them open! Lol

Good for the motor cycle enthusiast

By Miriam C |

Cool place to see the history of motorcycles. It had lots of old cycles and a few screens showing TV shows that was interesting.

Great displays of American motorcycle history.

By David H |

If you are into the history of Harley Davidson motorcycles put a visit to this fine museum on your "bucket-list". Many other American manufactured marques also represented among literally piles of biker gear and paraphernalia. Some unique cars displayed as well.

Awesome

By Hans |

As if it was meant to be, today was a demonstration of the “wall of death” team, see my pictures. The museum itself is so great, and has so many motorcycles and memorabilia, that it is overwhelming. Great!

Eclectic collection with a very friendly staff

By GeorgiaGal09 |

I recently re-visited this museum, and it is an interesting spot. Since my last visit, however, many restored bikes have been added, which shows that the collection is growing and improving. Unlike most such museums, individual items are by and large not labeled. That's both good and bad, I suppose. Most of the bikes and memorabilia are grouped by category, such as "board racing" or (my favorite) "women in motorcycling." There is plenty to read, either on posters or on iPad style interactive stations. There are a few videos looping, with seating available, which I liked. Many of the motorcycles are unrestored, but most of them seem functional, as there is visible oil in spots where one would expect to see it. The collection is mostly American made motorcycles, but there are lots of tools and apparel, as well as trophies, magazine content, and other items in this collection. There are also a few antique cars. There is even a section of items made from donor motorcycles, such as an "ice saw."

There are several volunteers available to interact with patrons, who offered to answer any questions we had. They also offered maps and insights into local rides, which we found most helpful, as we were riding our own bikes during this trip.

It takes over two hours to begin to do justice to this massive collection. Those into detail could spend a day, I suppose.

Since this area in North Carolina attracts many motorcyclists, this museum in just the right place.

Always worth a visit

By Gelysemoore |

If you come to Maggie Valley, don't miss this fantastic non-profit transportation museum specializing in motorcycles. We planned to spend an hour there but wound up staying for most of the day. The motorcycles are incredible. So many unique and historic bikes...and they all run! And there are more than a few great cars as well.
If you get the chance, have a chat with Dale and his team. The whole crew there are friendly and knowledgeable.
Don't miss it.

Great Collection

By Stephen H |

The collection of history is second to none, but the people make the experience great. The staff roams around to assist with questions and they have a great working knowledge of the history, significance & status of the pieces. Lots to see, especially motorcycle related.

Super interesting museum!

By MountainMama7777 |

I went with my husband, the motorcycle fan of America,, to this place. Other museums have been just "ho-hum" to me, but this one was actually very educational, interesting, and I loved it. It has such cool memorabilia in addition to the bikes. The man coming around and answering questions was so helpful and knowledgeable as well. They had ALL KINDS of stuff in there! We even got to hear a motorcycle start up and idle for a few minutes. We highly recommend this museum!

Amazing Collection if American Motorcycles

By tom38547 |

Stopped by the Museum while in Maggie Valley. Have not been in a few years and was rewarded with viewing many new attractions along with getting the chance to admire some old friends. The people are most friendly and you won’t find a better way to spend a few hours or an entire day.

Wonderful collection

By Q9619CRfrankb |

The vehicles on display are amazing! And they all run, too! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! A must-see!

A step back in time

By jdan53 |

Always enjoy walking through history at this huge working museum. I am not a biker, but enjoy the old bikes and cars.

Just stopped to check it out

By weavertk1 |

On our way home we stopped here. Wow it was awesome. The people who work there are a wealth of information on all the different bikes there. More than happy to tell you stories and history. Asked where we were from ,Dayton Ohio and they made sure we saw the Dayton bikes and the bicycle from Orville and Wilbur Wright. Took s ton of pictures of old Harley’s. Highly recommend

Great for motorcycle enthusiasts!

We stopped in on our trip to Maggie valley this year I was surprised by all the bikes that they have and old transportation very interesting place... We didn't have enough time to get to see everything... Which is fine as we plan on coming back again...

Interesting

By Gail |

We went through this museum in a couple of hours. The curator was very nice and knowledgeable. He started some of the older motorcycles and they ran like new.

Awesome

By Michael |

Great bucket list trip that I took with my two brothers. Museum was better than I thought it would be by watching videos. Must visit.

Excellent

By DavJuan14 |

Our second time visiting the museum! The employees are AWESOME! They educate you on the history of the motorcycles and even start some of the “classics”! Highly recommend!

One of my All-Time FAVORITE places to visit!

By RoadQueenAtlanta |

Dale is the most personable host you'd ever want to meet. How often do you even see the curator of a museum? The displays may be different from visit to visit, so you will never be bored. Motorcycles, cars, and even bicycles are displayed in authentic scenes from their time. I still have not forgotten the 2007 ~ centralized tribute to women motorcyclists; all kinds of historical documentation from magazines, vintage clothing, photos, etc, particularly featuring women in the military, the first time a lady on a bike did not raise eyebrows, were on display. For those of you who like to wrench on their own bikes, be assured that Dale really CAN start and ride any bike on the floor. Non-bikers can learn, and show their children and grandchildren, a lot of transportation history at Wheels Through Time. I'm looking forward to my next visit scheduled for June of 2018.

Wheels Through Time, Great Place

By Bradykids |

This museum is a collection of mostly Harley and other brands of motorcycles from the early 1900's to the most recent. There is also old bicycles and some cars. The art work in the museum is great and the displays are well organized. i have never seen this many motorcycles in one place. If you go you will not be disappointed. We spent 4 hours in the museum and still think we missed something.

Great place with a great collection of motorcycles.

By Robert F |

The museum is set up nicely with a wide variety of vintage motorcycles. The staff is very friendly and informative. Had a great time while I was there. Dale was moving about through the place starting different bikes and giving a little history about them.

A time capsule that needs to be preserved and beautiful place to spend an afternoon.

By Thomas J |

It's a beautiful tribute to early 20th century engineering and creativity.
If you can find a docent or if there is anyone guiding a tour or answering questions, I suggest you tag along. There's so much to see, you might be overwhelmed and miss a lot due to the lack of context or simply not knowing what you're looking at.

The building smells like every old mechanics shop you may remember visiting in the past, not a sterile display. Grease, oil, exhaust fumes, this is an active building with old machines. The smell is authentic.

Great fun and well worth a visit

By foxtail1 |

We spent quite a while wandering through this large building filled with American made motorcycles (and a few cars and other vehicles thrown in). It is a well done exhibit, and there are volunteers wandering the floor who are happy to answer questions.

Take your time

By carolpW4452HC |

This is a fabulous place to spend time. A wonderful nostalgic walk around. You would have to go several times and still you will see something you missed the last time. Excellent place and would highly recommend!

Harley’s Harley’s and Harley’s

By Honestyrule1 |

Very interesting if you are into motorcycles. There are some automobiles with history but very few. It will definitely fill a few hours in a day. I really enjoyed.

UNINTERESTING

By SUNILDASWANEY |

In all fairness to this particular museum,it was of no interest to me as i am not a motor cycle enthusiast in any way and so i had no interest in what i saw.Perhaps a motor cycle enthusiast would have found it extremely exciting and interesting to see sich a wide variety of motor cycles on display

Go and see!

By tammy d |

stopped by for a look,,amazing. Lots of motorcycle history and the people working were so friendly. they answered questions even walked around to people to see if they had questions. alot to see here, motorcyles, cars, bikes, most of the items had the history about them. had 2 floors of items to stroll around and read about. if you are in maggie valley this is a definite stop.

Great museum

By Paul M |

What a great museum I really enjoyed seeing all of the cars and motorcycles. We were lucky today because they had a free stunt riding show while I was there they start it up at least three or four different motorcycles.

Must see!

By Mary M |

They were stilled closed from Covid when we first arrived in Maggie Valley, late September, but opened up on October 1st so we were able to get it!
So glad we did. Amazing, friendly people and they made us feel right at home. Answered continuous questions and even told us stories from the past.

We spent over 3 hours there and would have liked to go back.
Unique experience and a must see!

Journey through time

By DNDSZ06 |

The museum is awesome and is something to see. They have a great collection of motorcycles and even a few cars. The history here is incredible. The staff is very passionate and knowledgeable about everything there. You will need to allow a couple of hours of see everything.

Motorcycle Trip

By 1Macaw |

What an awesome place. Lots of history and neat things to see. Be prepared to stay awhile, however I think it will take several trips to see everything. This is one museum that my husband and I will be happy to visit again and again!!

This is a GREAT roadside attraction museum!

By TLinATL |

This is kind of an oddity and off the beaten path in Maggie Valley NC, so I was very hesitant to spend the $15 admission expecting a simple small bubba's oddity collection, but I'm really glad I decided to go in. The displays are awesome! It is much more than a collection of motorcycles and has all sorts of very creative recreations of scenes of the past. I really enjoyed all the tools, shop set-ups, and unique artifacts. The lighting is fantastic, it is not just a warehouse with horrid florescent ceiling lights, they really have put thought into the way everything is illuminated, making for some great photo opportunities.

Even if you aren't a fan of the show, this is a must see!

By BeachMom17 |

Who knew you could fit so many motorcycles into one building? This is a fascinating place to visit. So many motorcycles, old and new. Several cars, antique furniture and signs. So much to see! The staff are so very nice and personable. We love this place!

Every bit worth the trip

By Anthony D |

We have been wanting to visit Wheels Through Time for a couple years. When we were driving back from a long drive, we decided to visit WTT. This place is awesome. The staff was all very friendly and the collection of motorcycles, cars and lots of other neat things was really great.

In fact, I got my photo taken with the Rarest Motorcycle on Earth. The staff member (British guy who told a GREAT story about the bike) asked if we wanted our photo with it and a bunch of people just stood around. I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity and got the photo done. I since posted it on the WTT Instagram page.

Visiting WTT was a real highlight after a long drive for family health stuff. I recommend the visit. If you’re in the area (or could be), just do it. You’ll be glad you did.

Absolutely fantastic walk through history!

By rmvanhoy |

Every machine in this museum is OPERATIONAL! But be aware; if they start one of the motorcycles (and for that to happen, all you have to do is ask) and you aren't expecting it, it will be LOUD!

Best collection of privately held motorcycles bar none!

Must see

By GregoryT3037 |

This was an awesome museum with the most friendly staff I have ever encountered. This museum has a great mix of restored and unrestored motorcycles and other items. I am not a motorcyclist but could really appreciate the variety of bike especially the older bikes. They have some one of a kind and some of the only one known to exist. This museum is worth the trip. It does get busy fast as we were the first ones there and the lot was full when we left.

Wow, worth a visit!

By Handsome Dan |

Excellent place to visit and a must if you are within 100 miles of this place. Huge selection (biggest I’ve ever seen) of the oldest, coolest and interesting place in the state.

I will return!

so much to see!

By Skysmom68 |

Very amazing collection, you could come here numerous times and not see all there is. The staff is very knowledgable of all that is there and will be happy to tell you about whatever you want to know. awesome!

Summer trip

By Cindy S |

This is an excellent place to go and see rare one of a kind American made motorcycles. The owner Dale is very nice and friendly and will take time to talk to you.

Truly amazing place!

By Amy G |

My Husband and I were traveling, in the area on vacation, and found this place. It is worth the drive, even if you are staying in Asheville. We have never seen such history, in regards to motorcycles, in one place, ever! They also have vintage automobiles, gorgeous antiques, lots of wonderful old pictures, etc. A must see place!

Learning isn’t only in a book

By Michael R |

If you ride or just interested in motorcycles or the history of motorcycles, this place is a must to see. The staff is amazing! Matt and Andy took timeout to visit with as many people as they could. The knowledge they have is fantastic and I learned so much. I love to ride but I leaned a new respect for what makes them run. This place is for the entire family to enjoy.

Amazing museum

By Terri A |

Amazing collection of motorcycles and Harley Daividsom memerobilia! Well worth the trip! Something for everyone to enjoy.

Gas smell

By Jason Bulsa |

I went here some years ago. It was not well lit. Smelled like old oil more than a garage. I haven’t recommended it.

Glad I visited

By Tom Hunsaker |

This is a great museum if you like anything mechanical. Most of the bikes are unrestored and have tremendous history. The employees are very knowledgeable and willing to tell you the story on any bike or car. Plan at least 2 hours or more. Well worth the $15.

Nice museum

By Donny W |

A friend and I toured the Weals through time museum and found it to be very interesting. I am not a motorcycle guy but I enjoyed the displays and people. One of the employees even started one of the bikes for us. Definitely worth a visit.

Not impressed

By Shirra H |

I had high expectations but found thinks to be lacking. “Junky” is the word that comes to mind. I didn’t mind paying the admission (live and learn), but I found it in poor taste to put out a tip jar isn’t that what admission is for?

Hidden Gem

By Alissa S |

More motorcycles than you can imagine. Not only is it a collection of one-of a kinds, its a walk through memorabilia, history and a feeling of love for bikes here. Staff on hand was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The museum is easy to get to. If you are anywhere near Maggie Valley stop you will not be disappointed.

Awesome place to visit!!

By NiniKat16 |

My husband and I had a great time! Whether you love motorcycles or history, or both, you will learn a lot. Andy was great, he definitely knows his history. We could listen to his stories anytime. We would highly recommend stopping by this place if you’re in the area.

An unparalleled collection with great motorcycle guides

By worldsmymuse |

This place is absolutely amazing! And the guides are also devoted and informative in the most delightful way. So if you're a motorcycle fan or diehard, you can't help but being impressed by the stellar collection!

Motorcycles I had never heard of

By tdsa72 |

I enjoyed seeing all the different motocycles and learning how the development of todays modern cycles has progressed. I also enjoyed viewing the different types of signs and memorabilia they had on display. The staff was very courteous and answered any questions we had.

Live free or die

By cam50cam |

This is the best smelling place I have ever been.
All I could do was imagine riding those motorcycles. Lost my sense of time in this museum. Look forward to going again. Take you kids and grandkids.

Amazing step back in time!

By KY-2-AL |

Highly recommend anyone with a love for motorcycles if your in the area stop buy & check this place out! It went well above & beyond my expectations! Outside Shows & Stunts were great to watch as well! Stop in & check this place out beautiful bikes from floor to ceiling inside!

Incredible

By JoePennington |

Everything's groovy at Wheels Through Time. Met Dale at the door and visited for a bit. I'm a docent at Evel Knievel Museum in Kansas, and enjoyed talking shop with my counterparts there. Snapped photos of the daredevil bike, spotted another that belonged to my friend, started to discuss that...and then they pulled it out and let me sit on it. The place is phenomenal. Wall of Death is the coup de gras. They fired up the show just for us. Such hospitality! Thank you for such a splendid experience!

Amazing!

By Dmbran211 |

So much history under one roof! The homemade mods exhibit is great. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are a valuable asset and the stories and history documenting some of the collection is mesmerizing!

Motorcycle Trip to Maggie Valley

By Chris J |

My wife and I an another couple rode to Maggie Valley from Taylorsville, NC for a couple days ride in the mountains. We decided to stop and visit Wheels Through Time. Some of us had visited previously and others had not. It’s always a great place to visit to learn about the history and to just be amazed how they have collected and retained such a great inventory of bikes. Amazingly, their always so knowledgeable about each one and willing to discuss where it came from and to also crank it for you. I had the pleasure to meet Dale, the founder a couple times before his passing, and I’m thankful for what he created and the legacy he has built. Thankfully he passed that knowledge on and this is something that can be here for future generations. Well worth the time to visit. Chris Jolly

Very cool & interesting collection

By She-Ra |

We took a big detour to visit this great attraction. If you have an interest in bikes, then you can't miss it! Coming from the UK we don't have this calibre of amazing old vehicles and it was so interesting. Well worth a visit!

WAS INTERESTING

By dfromano |

We went in here, but please be advised that is is $15 a person. Didn't thrill me at all, but the guys seemed interested.

A Must See

By Rene G |

This museum is great! It was larger than we expected! LOTS of exhibits! A definite must if you are in the area!

Worth the time.

By Kenney30132 |

This is a absolutely must see if you have any interest in motorcycle history. Mostly American,British and all older bikes. Very interesting. Most all the bikes will start and run. You can spend a day easily! Staff were great!

Biker's Heaven!

By drftr09 |

What can I say about this place that hasn't already been said? It's pure Heaven for both motorcycle and motorhead enthusiast alike!
The only thing I can add to the already excellent reviews is that I got a chance to meet the great granddaughter of George Wagner, the owner of The Wagner Motorcycle Company (1901-1914). Clara Wagner, George's daughter and this woman's grandmother was a pioneer in women's motorcycling. She was the first documented woman motorcyclist. Certainly meeting a descendant of this family was a highlight of my trip.
Truth is.... I can't wait to go back to see the many things I'm sure I missed the first time through this trip back in time.

Superb small motor museum

By pavakeal |

The museum has numerous exhibits mainly linked to motorcycles but there are a few cars to view. The collection must have taken many years to obtain and nearly all vehicles are in running order. The attendants were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and it was a pleasure discussing basics and detail with them. Well worth a visit for and hour or two when in the area.

Super Cool!

By awsm302 |

If you are into the history of the American motorcycle, this is your place. Will never see a collection like this anywhere else. Well worth the time to stop in. We really enjoyed it.

A 'must see' if you are in the area.

By Elaine M |

A wonderful place to visit. Wear your walking shoes and bring your camera. We spent a couple of hours there and I think we could have spent a couple more.

Old folks get away

By wvsjr |

My wife and I love the show what’s in the barn so we decided to visit this museum of old motorcycles it is very interesting and a lot of history and old bikes to see it was awesome

Return visit.

By Leigh Ann O |

We probably haven’t been here in at least ten years. It is a wonderful place for people who like motorcycles or just old stuff in general. The staff if very personable and will answer any questions. The star of the show has been on various television shows such as American Restoration and is considered an expert. Great price comparable to other attractions. You can spend as much time as you want there.

Lots to See

By JRaeJ |

Americana at its finest. Felt like someone finally found a good use for all the "stuff" in my grandpa's garage. Cool tidbits of American industrial history. More Harleys than you can imagine. Favorite section was military corner and wall of women on motorcycles.

Amazing trip through Indian and Harley Davidson motorcycle history

By ylre600 |

This place is amazing. They have so many motorcycles on display one could easliy spend many hours walking through and seeing everything. It even smells like a motorcycle shop with oil and gas smells. If you're luckey, like we were, they may even actually fire up one of the historic bikes. Awesome noise.

Some Interesting Items But Almost All H-D

By bamarider |

This museum is probably the holy grail some but was a bit to Harley Davidson focused for my tastes. It is one an done for me. I would prefer more variety. I should be advertised as a H-D museum. Also it was quite warm inside the museum. No A/C?

Pleasure

By Deb318830 |

Very interesting, you can spend a whole day just browsing around. The owner cranked one of the old bikes and rode it around the museum.

Excellent

By JanuaryCS |

Absolutely fantastic museum. Must see for motorcycle lovers. My husband spent 2 and a half hours inside. There are demonstrations and very knowledgeable people that work there.

Greatest motorcycle museum ever.

By GlobeTrotting83087 |

We have here 3 times and it only gets better. Dale is a real humble man. The staff is super knowledgeable. I would suggest to visit every time you visit Maggie Valley or drive through.

All motorcyle rider will enjoy this place

This place is so enjoyable that you will not want to leave it. You definitely will come back at a later time. It also has older cars as well as all kinds of transportation iteems

Amazing Motorcycle History

By Scenic757105 |

If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, this is a must see! Loved that the employees where right there to give you a history lesson on the bikes and answer any questions you had. Amazing RARE & Vintage bikes that run!!! They will start them while you’re there!!

Historical Motorcycle Museum

By Aerowing |

This is one of the best motorcycle museums in the country. The museum consists of all American made motorcycles from mostly the early years. There’s a whole days worth of bikes to see and hear. There’s guides walking around the museum that will answer any of your questions and on occasion they’ll even start some of the bikes as this is a museum in which almost every bike is still in running condition which is great. I brought in a picture from my grandfathers old Indian motorcycle not knowing what year it was and they were able to tell me it was a 1931 Indian V4 which was amazing. So many beautiful, historic and rare bikes that you’d have to see it to believe it. If you love motorcycles or just transportation just history for that matter then I highly recommend coming here for a visit.

A must see

By Y7212YCmikea |

I am a biker and a history nut and WTT hit all my buttons. I've honestly never seen a museum so well staged and with such a knowledgeable staff. Dale and his family obviously love vintage bikes and are eager to answer questions and fire one up for you (they all run).

Frankly, WTT was overwhelming for me and I have to go back again to take in more. You don't have to be a biker to appreciate what this family has done to preserve our heritage because the overriding message of this museum is the spirit of inventiveness and creativity that these early builders had -- some of the stories leave you wondering if we have people like that today.

MUST SEE!!!!!! INCREDIBLE!

By Gene H |

WOW!!!!!! If you are interested in history, or motorcycles, this is the place to be!!! Excellent cannot appropriately describe this world class museum. The staff is so knowledgeable and helpful, and Dale is absolutely a charm. He has spent a majority of his life collecting and restoring vintage American history. You can tell he has poured his heart and soul into this one of a kind collection. North Carolina has a diamond tucked away in Maggie Valley. This place is a MUST!

Rainy day activity

By Debbie O |

Very enjoyable museum; lots of treasures to see. Great place to visit on a rainy cool day in Maggie.

Visiting the Museum is incredible!

By GibsonRocker1951 |

My wife and I along with our friends were staying in the Ashville area for week in late September, early October, 2018. Several of us are avidly mechanically inclined, riders, bike fans, combo of all those. My grandfather rode both Pope and HD in his time more than 100 years ago. My wife's great-grandfather was one of the first motorcycle mechanics in Greenfield, MA, I had to give up riding, having too many artificial joints. Still, am a mechanic and engineer as are two of my buds. We ended up stayng for over 3 hours and we still did not get to savor everything. The displays took us back but are also timely and relevant to today. A real treat are the cars that have inifltrated the exhibits, including one of the most pristinely original first generation Vettes I've ever run across in my 67 years. I cannot recommend this museum enough. It's also decent to see the stuff in the garages being worked on and restored. Some were going on in the exhibits, many of which are set up as bike garages, even was a military motorpool all in the large building. Some of my biker buds who do go to NC have never been but after I put in my 2 cents, they're sure to pay a visit.

Wonderful Collection

By kppeebles |

My husband and I recently visited this wonderful museum. Hundreds of bikes, cars and vehicles are beautifully displayed and several friendly staff members circulate answering questions and telling stories about the vintage and antique rarities. You don't have to be a bike enthusiast to thoroughly enjoy this museum. A must see while in the Maggie Valley.
.

Good museum

By Meagan B |

We came the last weekend of the season. There were SO many people at the museum. We were still able to see everything though. If you like motorcycle history and appreciate when not all the things are shiny and restored to perfection then this museum is worth the visit. There is a lot of see and a small gift shop. Ventilation was fine for us and the temperature was comfortable.

Never gets old, 2nd time around.

By TarteGirl50 |

My husband is a huge fan of Dale and Harley Davidson, Indian and antique motorcycles. We stopped in on our way back home to Michigan. They had the wall of death attraction that was absolutely fantastic. My husband even said hello to Dale. I think he was star struck, lol. We had another good time, bought more T shirts and went on our way. Stop in and tour it. Worth the money, time and history☺

Very complete.

By sanddollarjane |

So much more than just cycles. Excellent and thorough history. Many exhibits of anything to do with wheels.

Great motorcycle museum

By scanogram |

I've been here twice now, the people are nice and the exhibits are great. There is a lot to see and I'm glad I went back.

Really cool, somehting for everyone

By Connie B |

This is a really cool museum, sure mostly motorcycles but there is something for everyone to see and learn. So much history, American History. Staff and other knowledgeable folks can be found throughout, If you have a question, just ask--they love to share information and the history with visitors.

Truly a walk through my time and beyond! WOW!

By Suzanne S |

I could not believe the history that rolls like thunder through that place. The employees were wonderful and knowledgeable about the content. A MUST SEE if you are in the area. To truly enjoy it ,set aside a minimum of two hours. The first toboggan sled, jet ski, tiller, ice cutter, and much more was exciting to see as much as the motorcycles! Cars, bicycles, wheelchairs, memorabilia and SO MUCH MORE!!!

A Must See!!

By Joann C |

We visited Wheels Through Time on our recent visit to Waynesville. A fantastic exhibit of antique motorcycles! We saw our first wall of death show live and in person. It was brought in for the holiday weekend. It was incredible! We are looking forward to visiting again later this year when we are in the area.

"The Museum That Runs!"

By RTEjr |

It says it on the t-shirts, & it's true! This is a living, breathing, kick-start into American motorcycle history. No pristine prototypes under plexiglass here; they'll start'm up, & maybe even ride the kids around in a vintage sidecar. Family owned & operated, the guides are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, & entertaining, with a very hands-on, up close & personal approach. Vintage parts, accessories, & gear too. Plan on a minimum of 2 hours, & 3-4 wouldn't hurt. Nice gift shop too!

It was great!

By Kathy J |

It was a great experience. The employees there explain so many things to us. It is an awesome museum.

Great!

By Zara R |

Hidden gem! Worth going! Very good aray of cars to see! Go if you have a chance! We love car museums and this was a good one!

Regulars from Fort Wayne Ind.

By JANewmam |

We go at least once a year. Never disappoints!! The best collection of motorcycles, gear, memorabilia I've seen. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable & always present. Worth the drive no matter where you are coming from.

Pretty excellent

By GingerGoodness |

Must see if you’re into vintage motorcycles. The Walksler family is beyond friendly and nice! My husband was awestruck when he met Matt. We spent about three hours here on a rainy Monday. If you’re in a RV, park near the road in the overflow lot. The museum is clean and easy to navigate.

Memory Lane

Husband and I love to ride. We enjoyed this museum with it's bike of all different eras. If you love motorcycles, you'll love this place.

Wheels

By JohnBCowgill |

I had some free time so I took a drive to here. The staff here is completely amazing. Most of the display is motorcycles, and they have a great many of them. They do have a few antique cars. If you are a fan of motorcycles, you must visit this place.

Polished Niche Museum

By tumbleweedchris |

While I know nothing about motorcycles or their history, I do like niche museums. So I drove out to Wheels Through Time to check out this well-reviewed attraction. The entry fee is $15 with enough to keep you busy for an hour or two. The museum is pretty large and contains mostly older model motorcycles, but they also have a few newer ones and wheeled conveyances that are not motorcycles. The presentation of the collection is pretty polished and the displays looked well cared for. There were some signs that made sense to me and some that meant nothing to me. None of the signs are overly dense like some museums. Wheels Through Time also has employees walking around that will answer questions and tell stories. It's worth finding one of these people when they are telling a story to illustrate the history a little better. I heard/read they occasionally fire up a motorcycle or take someone for a spin. This didn't happen while I was there, but it definitely would've added to the visit. The museum requires masks but no one in the museum, employees included, wear them. I would recommend this for motorcycle lovers or curious people passing through.

Best employees ever

By alex |

Honestly I don’t care about motorcycles at all but I had an amazing time here. Every single employee was so kind and helpful and excited about their specialties. Their passion was enough to get me excited, too. There’s so much more to look at than I was expecting—you’re bound to find something interesting and learn a little. Will return!

This place is closed during the winter.

By Kim T |

We really wanted to visit here, but they are closed in the winter. I can't comment about this museum, but wanted everyone to know that you can not visit until the spring 2018.

Drive out of your way to see to see the treasures of this museum.

By SailawaySeattle |

We very much enjoyed our visit to Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum. This unique display of motorcycle history exceeds what you might find in a Smithsonian museum. In a sense, my first impression was like walking back in time into my great grandfather's turn of the 20th century garage, but better. In addition to offering the visitors the opportunity to see many vehicles, we were privileged to connect with "Andy" who is a well-spoken and extremely knowledgeable motorcycle historian whose explanations and stories brought the artifacts to life for us. Also, the docents start some of the vehicles for the visitors so we can hear the sounds of the engines. Each staff member was extremely helpful and friendly.

No A/C- very uncomfortable inside

By firefly1111 |

There was quite a nice collection of bikes to look at, but the heat inside the building made it difficult to enjoy. For $15 a ticket, they could at least have central air conditioning. We drove 2 hours and left disappointed.

Very interesting.

By DeniseSWFL |

We had a great time and learned so much. This place is huge so plan to go early and stay a few hours.

Awesome !

By Chad V |

love “motor”cycles? feeling of a cool old garage, sights & smells that go w/ motorcycling, American motorcycle history? this place is for you!
been going over 21 years, before they officially opened, in 2010 when Dale came rolling in from Kitty Hawk, & for some of the bike raffles. 1st time there Dale told me I could ride any motorcycle, except for evil Knievel‘s XR750 💗
Like nothing else!

Awesome collection ! More than worth the time and admission

By LCMSus |

This museum is a real gem. What a fantastic collection of bikes, recording the history of motorcycling. The facility is very well organized, and there are good, simple descriptions of each section that even a non-motorcycle person can well appreciate. Very worth it!

Great place to visit!

By Jim F |

If you love motorcycles add this to your bucket list. Absolutely amazing staff, displays are beautiful, board track bikes were better than any I've ever seen.

Great stop on our Vacay

Last minute decision to stop by, we are so glad we did!! Lots to see! Staff is so friendly and answered tons of questions. They even started up some of the older bikes!!!

American Bikes,Bikes and more Bikes!!!

By barharborone |

This is a must go,while visiting Maggie Valley...History of Motorcycles...We couldn't walk slow enough to see it all..Words can't describe it,just go....

A must see if you love Motorcycles!

By Leeann B |

The Wheels Through Time Museum is a very impressive collection of motorcycles. The staff is very knowledgeable and it was really cool seeing bikes from the early 1900's start up and run like new ones! Be sure to give yourself a couple hours to tour it. It isn't too impressive from the outside, and I was honestly just going because some friends wanted to see it, but I loved it from the second we stepped in there. The history, the bikes, the way they have it set up....all excellent. My favorite part was the extensive ART that was scattered throughout the museum. It is such a cool place!

Absolute Gem

By Nicky L |

Wow ! What a fab place to visit...it's huge...packed full of bikes and memorabilia, just make sure you give yourself time to do it justice. All the members of staff we encountered were terrific, Cindy on the desk, Andy the guide, Nikki in the gift shop and Dale himself made our visit so special and even if you don't have a passion for motorcycles you can't fail to be impressed by this collection and the stories surrounding them....don't miss it !!

Interesting Museum

By doc s |

Well worth a visit to those interested in vintage/classic motorcycles. Quite a wide variety with numerous bikes(and some cars). For those who might expect machines that are spit and polished....this is not the place. These machines are, for the most part, unrestored, which adds to their charm, I feel. I understand that all machines RUN, which is remarkable. If time permits, give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Amazing collection of bikes and motorcycles

By LuckyRusty |

Enjoyed our visit to this museum in Maggie Valley. You could spend hours in there if you were a motorcycle person. The people that work there will gladly tell you about a bike and we’re starting up random bikes in the museum.

Hidden gem!

By Urooj Z |

Wonderful museum. True hidden gem! We stopped here by chance on the drive down from visiting Soco Falls and Mingo Falls, and were so grateful that we did! A must see for enthusiasts and novices both! Andy, one of the people who works there was so kind and helpful! He is a walking encyclopedia of motorcycles. We loved every moment we spent here ❤️

An incredible collection and wonderful staff!

By sj-jj-houston |

WOW, is all I can say about this place! This has got to be one of the best transportation museums I have ever been to! Even if you are not into motorcycles, you will like this place if you have any type of interest in anything with an engine. Along with motorcycles, there are also a few cars and other vehicles. I loved how well the place was laid out and the displays and motorcycles were exhibited. The fact that the motorcycles are very accessible is really cool. This is not the type of museum where everything is behind ropes and glass. You can get right up next to 90% of the vehicles here. They even started a few up while we were there, which was really cool. There is lots of helpful info with many of the cycles, and many helpful displays. If you have any questions, the staff is more than willing to happily answer your questions. They will actually tell you more than you wanted to know! We spent about 3 hours here, but I would like to come back again. This is a do-not-miss place if you are in the area!

Even if your not a biker , you will like this

By mamashuz |

Great history all over this vast museum of motorcycle things also some cars and bikes. Really interesting can't believe the things they had some were one of 12 made that kind of thing. People working there know everything you can ever think to ask.

Worth the stop!

By klynn1973 |

My husband and I were vacationing in the Maggie Valley area. We had some time to kill before dinner and decided to pop in. We aren't motorcycle enthusiasts but found the museum interesting! One of the guides (I believe his name was Andy) did a nice job walking us through the history of the Indian motorcycle. He was knowledgeable and entertaining.

Third visit, and just as amazed as my first visit.

By Bill M |

I will never grow bored of this amazing place. So much history and such amazing and friendly people. If you are a fan of motorcycles or automobiles, you will not want to miss this place. Thank you Dale for sharing your life's work with us!! God bless!

A short drive from Asheville

By 2Birdsfishnfrogs |

There is no doubt that this is a museum of operational motor vehicles. 95% of the many 2, 3 and 4-wheeled vehicles are operational. There was a heavy smell of gas and oil in the building on the rainy day we visited. My wife sat outside after a while because she couldn't handle the smell. I was happy when a service door was opened and the ventilation improved.

We came in a small camper van which we parked in the lot before the bridge that leads to the museum. Another RV was there, a pick-up and teardrop trailer.

If you are a (gas) motor vehicle enthusiast, this should be on your radar. There are quite a few restored and unrestored historical motorcycles here.

Take your time and enjoy the history

By eyelive2travel |

This is a very unique and interesting museum. We took our time and really enjoyed the variety of historically significant displays throughout. If you are into the history of the motorbike antique cars and racing, this is a must see. They had so much it's hard to describe it all and they claim they all start. It is not lit for photos but we had no problem getting some good shots. Be aware of the operating hours before you go. We thought the price of admission was a little high, but worth it in the end. I personally wouldn't recommend it for little kids but adults and teens would like it. We spent 3 hours here and took a little picnic break outside in the parking area which is a park like setting.

FANTASTIC MUSEUM

By Barbara L |

This museum is awesome!! The displays are as cool as the bikes. Very informative, excellent job. They started some of the bikes when we were there. Not many, but old cars on display also. Restored bikes and unrestored bikes. Nice gift shop.

Awesome stop

By Amy cervantez |

What a great stop I have never been to such an amazing historical museum. They have some amazing bikes and cars. With two that’s right two Evil bikes his last jump and one of his older jump bikes. So cool worth trip.

Great way to view the history of the motorcycle and other modes of transportation.

By Tern3 |

My husband visited this museum while we were on vacation once year and I went with him later on... very interesting tour guide who knew it all! Was featured on The Pickers show... these people know their motorcycles! We were then in 2017 but it won't let me select the month and year correctly.

Motorcycle ❤️

By Susan W |

My husband has always wanted to come here so we met up with some friends and there we were! It is an absolutely awesome museum steeped in motorcycle history and a tribute to the founder and his family. We spent several hours there and my husband went back again the next day.

Motorcycle museum.

By Paul |

Wheels through time is mainly a motorcycle museum but there are a few cars in the museum. This museum is by far the best museum of its kind that I have ever visited. The museum has motorcycles from 1910 until present. All the vehicles in the museum will run and they will crank up any one of them, all you have to do is ask. There are dozens of vehicles and also engines, racing gear and all kinds of motorcycle paraphernalia. All motorcycles are American, no rice burners. I think that anyone who likes motorcycles will thoroughly appreciate this museum. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about all the motorcycles and are eager to talk with you about anything in there. I highly recommend you visit the wheels through time museum in maggie valley nc

Living History!

By Kitty |

This is a living legacy of a man who had a dream! He fulfilled the dream and built this amazing museum for all ages to experience! Living History at it's best! Everything runs, and so many stories from all the wonderful people the items came from. He was a Visionary for sure! Sadly he is gone, but the good news is his sons have taken up the challenge and are carrying it forward in a new and improved way! Dad would be proud no doubt!

We go several times a year and are lifetime members! I love to see Passion & History come together to tell the stories of the people before us, because then we can truly understand and appreciate all we have now!

Good Job Matt Walksler!

A Lot to see....

By Hdsteve2013 |

Very interesting collection of antique motorcycles and many Great other Collectables. Lots to see and explained very well also. Talk with the owner who seems to have time to talk with many of the visitors there, definitely worth going to.

Old folks get away

By wvsjr |

My wife and I have been thinking about going here for a while now so this trip we decided to go tru the museum we have seen a show that Dale was part of about what’s in the barn and we liked it the old motorcycles in this place is amazing did not have much time so we will hopefully get back again if you like history and motorcycles you need to go you will not be disappointed

History with a personal touch

By Stephen B |

I love museums, especially if they involve motorcycles or airplanes. A trip to Maggie Valley without a visit to Wheels Through Time means you missed a fantastic place to visit.
Our first visit several years ago, we didn't know the background of the museum or it's owner, Dale. We were standing looking at a 1939 EL, which I had years ago, as was a Dad and his 7 or 8 year old son. A fellow stepped up and asked the young man if he would like to hear what that motorcycle sounds like. The boy said yes, and this fellow stepped over the velvet rope, got on the bike, kicked it 2 or 3 times and it roared to life. I said to my wife, "this will bring the cops", when this guy gets off the bike, it was still running, lets down the rope and backs the old EL into the aisle and starts to ride off! I figured this will really get exciting now, but no one seemed surprised except me. OF course, this fellow was Dale W, owner of WTT.
Our many visits we have found that Dale, his son Matt, as well as all the folks at WTT are interested in you having a good time, answering all your questions and even starting up and maybe riding a selected bike!
Go see WTT.

The Best Motorcycle Experience Without Even Riding!

By 41Buick19 |

Every motorcycle (American) ever made. Shown in various stages of assembly to completed. Even a few cars thrown in for good measure. Not only is the museum AMAZING, his TV show is awesome. Ask and they will even crank up some of the vintage bikes. Don't forget to buy raffle tickets for a chance to win a vintage bike. Awesome experience for anyone who loves motors on wheels!

Amazing

By lori h |

This was so much fun. The variety of things were amazing. Will go back sometime to
take in the things we missed. This a must see for anybody. There is a lot of detail and work that went into this museum.

Shocked. Matt is a disgrace to the Walksler name and ruining the wonderful establishment Dale created.

By Erik L |

Dale would be mortified at how awful his son is. I watched him publicly scream at an employee and belittle him, which apparently he does often. Matt and Hailey are ruining the museum. Somebody should get them out. What a shame. Not the same museum. Was much better when Matt was not apart of it.

Excellent museum and well worth the visit.

By Harley7dog |

Amazing museum! Have been wanting to go here for a while. We were not disappointed. They have a beautiful collection. They walk around casually starting bikes up while you are there. The ride through the parkway to get there from Gatlinburg is also awesome.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOVE MOTORCYCLES...

By eatbread |

To appreciate the stunning collection of transportation that Dale has collected and preserved. I cant imagine a better collection. Awesome team of people can spend hours talking about the bikes and the collection. They are so knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to see Dale and his son starting up an old Indian motorcycle. This place is really something special and is worth the trip to see.

Excellent Museum

By Cheryl M |

This museum is awesome! There are mostly motorcycles, but there are a few cars, and lots of memorabilia. History from all eras and many countries! Well worth the time to visit.

annual motorcycle raffle

By Jeanadair C |

We were there for the annual raffle. The staff was really great considering it had to be one of their busiest weekends. The facility is wonderful and the museum is larger than expected and very interesting. If bike(not just Harley's) are your thing you have to visit.

So worth the visit!

By maureen1304 |

We loved this museum in Maggie Valley! Lots of various motorcyclists (driving Harleys, mostly!) were visiting there on the day we were there, although there were plenty of people in cars as well! While viewing the exhibits, the staff would kindly mosey on over to those who were interested and tell a bit more information about the vehicle, or perhaps even would start up an engine for us. They would then almost magically disappear until they reappeared at some other time or place within the huge building. We do not own a motorcycle, but our son does who works in NYC, so we immediately would send him photos of what we were looking at (he was one jealous guy, but a happy one!). We did not even do the museum justice and had to give up finally, but we'd go back in a flash! Such a great place...the people who work here are the best!

Worth the Drive/Ride

By Ratboy859 |

As a lover of motorcycles, this road trip for me via my motorcycle was worth every mile. Coming out of Charlotte , North Carolina, I made that road trip to spend quality time with historical motorcycles.

I received the veterans discount on a mission. The staff was super friendly and very cooperative and helpful throughout the entire museum. Tons of Harleys, Indians and older motorcycles (Ace, Henderson, etc) to view. Worth the trip and worth the price.

Mega-interesting museum of motorcycles!!!

By Dmitry P |

The best museum of motorcycles I've ever visited! More than 350 assembled bikes and a lot of not assembled yet! If you're a motorcycle rider - this is the must to see it yourself - I felt as if I am in Heaven! Most of the models could be ridden! And I feel proud to be the first who visited this museum from my country Ukraine! Thank you, founders, for such an amazing museum!

Excellent

By Expattraveler100 |

It’s not just about Harley’s - you have old cars, an airplane, Indian bikes and all sorts of posters and memorabilia - take my advise and rather than wandering around aimlessly on both floors, go straight to the back in the main level and sit in the chairs and watch the video - then walk around this awesome museum - well done Dale - and gods speed to get well soon!

Do you like 2 wheels? 4 wheels? Then this is the place for you!

By MS&CS |

We have been to this Museum several times, we see different items each time. There is such an amazing collection of Vintage Autos and Cycles. When you plan your trip, try to come at 12 or 2pm Thursday through Monday and you will get to see the Rare Machines come to life. If you like anything with a motor than you will enjoy the museum. We like anything with wheels and motors, just topping on the cake to have them all so greatly displayed. I have never seen a collection this big. The museum is a great place to visit and take the young folks and show them some of our history. There are items in this museum that they will never get to see any place else or see in their life time. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. You can also become a lifetime donor to the museum.

For Harley Fans!

By Jessie H |

The best thing about the museum are the volunteers. They are super knowledgeable and helpful. But being devoted to American bikes it can get boring. Piles and piles of rusty H-D parts and, yes, after the first 100 Harleys I could hope for a Vincent, Brough, or MV Agusta. (Admittedly there are some beautiful Hendersons, Indians, and vintage bikes like the Thor, etc.) Don't expect the Dale you see on TV because the real one is a miniature, with matching charisma.

Great!

By Jennifer W |

We attended the 2017 motorcycle giveaway. I had not been there before. We traveled from Gatlinburg by 441 and it was the most beautiful drive. Then we got to the museum and it was only $15 to enter. Maggie Valley was not very impressive. The museum though was VERY nice. It takes awhile to get around if you read about all the bikes. It's the most "nonmuseum" museum I have ever been in. Nothing is roped off or in glass cases. They have tons of different American made motorcycles. Most there are older motorcycles. There is even a few cars and an airplane. They have a few bicycles and Harley Davidson equipment (saws, railroad equipment, till). There are well educated workers that will answer any questions you have about anything bike related or anything about the exhibits there. I am not a huge motorcycle fan but it was still a wonderful trip with the scenery and the museum.

Worth It!

By Carolina Girl |

Well worth the $15 admission! Loads to see at your own pace! A must-see for motorcycles lovers of any age! Also includes some old cars and other historical items.

This is a "must see" if in Maggie Valley, NC.

By Butterflydays |

So worth the stop...could spend hours here. There's so much history to see in this museum. Admission prices are worth every penny, because you will leave here amazed! This collection is rare and one of a kind. Very interesting place! Will stop here again, when in this area. The museum is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Neat facility

By LancerP |

My wife, Pat, and I had the pleasure of visiting the museum for the first time.
What an awesome setting to house the many styles and sizes of motorcycles that were popular in their day. While strolling through the museum, we felt as if we were walking back “in time”.
Our 2+ hours spent there were amazing.
Seeing Steve McQueen’s famous motorcycle and other bikes and autos was really special. We would definitely recommend putting the “Wheels Through Time Museum” in Maggie Valley, NC on your list of things to do when visiting western North Carolina.

LOTS of motorcycles!

By mtsomerville |

I'm not a big motorcycle fan but I did enjoy the history of some of these older bikes! Well run establishment and tons of motorcycles! Pictures are very interesting. They also started up some of the older bikes while we were there and this is a real crowd-pleaser.

FUN PLACE FOR MOTORCYCLE FANS ALIKE

By Kevin W |

I had a nice time walking through with brother and his girl friend. A lot of very nice motorcycles and a lot of very old motorcycles. Great displays well worth the visit.

Worth the Trip

By lkj0525 |

What a great place. My husband and I enjoyed our visit here. I was in awe of all the museum had to offer. Definitely worth our trip to the area, you get your money's worth. I would recommend this stop for any Harley enthusiast. It took us about 3 hours to walk through.

Don't miss this tribute to motorcycle history

By mgirka |

Museum exceeded expectation. Professional presentation of hundreds vintage motorcycles and an interesting, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum brings the history of motorcycles to life. Give yourself at least three hours to explore this roadside gem.

Best tourist dollar value ever!!!

By Ken L |

Amazing place! Best tourist dollars I’ve ever spent and totally worth the price of admission. Really enjoyed it. Every person we interacted with was nice and friendly. A few of the ones on the museum floor made themselves available and offered to provide additional information on the displays. I intend to visit again the next time I’m in Maggie Valley. It was sad to learn that the founder, Dale Walksler, passed away a few years ago. His legacy is still living and it’s fantastic.

Husband's obsession

By Biker201950 |

This was a must stop while visiting Maggie Valley. Husband thoroughly enjoyed viewing vintage motorcycles, especially those that were featured on "American Pickers".

Awesome place

By JEHAKL |

Group of us rode to Maggie valley for weekend and toured the museum. We were lucky the curator of the place was there and gave us a tour. He cranked several of the old bikes from the early part of the century so we could see them run. This was one the best place to visit in the mountains.

great museum

By Kathy K |

this is not our first trip, but will always stop in and review the new findings. great history of motorcycles and cars and odds and ends that involve motorcycle motors. a trip down history lane. lots of memorabilia. actually like it better than Milwaukee and its closer. very nice people own the museum.

Great and informative

By Kenneth T |

Been here before, but more has been added. Enjoyed the walk around. Recommended for a real motorcycle fein. Interesting items andvery informative.

OMG ! - Plan on spending several hours here!

By CoachMike |

I have been wanting to visit the museum for years, and finally made it happen. This is truly an amazing collection of motorcycles and cars - and just about everything in the museum actually runs! In fact, about once an hour, the staff actually fires up and runs something somewhere in the facility. With 38,000 square feet, you will need HOURS to appreciate it completely. The staff is amazing, they are enthusiastic, and very willing to offer what ever guidance that you may want or need. They noticed that my brother was using a cane, and carrying oxygen, they offered the use of an elevator if needed, and checked on him several times.
We spent four hours there and saw a good deal, we will be back soon and spend a full day!

Livin' to ride

By happykamper2023 |

LOVED EVERYTHING!!!! Wonderful experience! Well worth the 1700 mile trip!!! We will be back someday! Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. Admission was very reasonable.

First time at the museum and loved it.

By Rich Martin |

My wife & I have been trying to get to the museum for sometime. It seems like every time we go on vacation, or return home from vacation, the museum is closed. Well this year we left Ft. Lauderdale a day early so we could stop in on a Monday.

We were on our way to the 50th Anniversary of the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, KY. We were traveling in our 1958 Edsel 2-door station wagon, and were joined by our good friend who was following us to Louisville. All of us were very excited to see the museum.

After spending several hours in the museum, we were all in agreement that this was one of the highlights of our vacation. We bought tickets on the raffle bike, as well as t-shirts and videos. We are going to make a point to visit the museum as often as possible. Dale was not present at the museum this day, but his son Matt was and he too was extremely nice, talking to everyone. Also everyone who works here is extremely pleasant and very informative regarding everything inside the museum.

I couldn't help but notice the collection of Police memorabilia in the museum. I am going to send you a patch from the Police Department where I was a Police Officer for 30 years. The last 15 years a motor officer riding Harley Davidsons.

While not a motorcycle person

By Vernon R |

The trip through history was worth the price of admission.
Andy, a guide, was very helpful.
Ask him how he came to Maggie Valley
They give tours featuring actually starting antique bikes. There were two school groups there the day of my visit.
They have a shop where they work on old bikes.
Don't miss Wheels Through History

Unbelievable Museum

By Earl G |

A must see for bike and car enthusiasts. Something for everybody. Lots of associates on the floor to explain everything, very knowledgeable. The most fun we have had in years. Even had preserved bike workshops, I could and did sped hours here. I will go back many times.

A must see

By tawny1956 |

This is a must see if you are in the area. The museum has an impressive collection of motorcycles, cars, memorabilia, pictures and posters, and beautiful antique furniture throughout, used as displays. Even those who are not “gear heads” will be in awe of the extensiveness of the collection, which is clearly well cared for.

A must see whether you are a motorcycle enthusiast or not

By Lori A |

This is definitely a must see when you are here in Maggie valley. As long as it is during the right season that they are open. I know it opened April 6th this year there is so much to see and learn. They are all very informed. Dales son and all other employees where very helpful and answered all of Our questions. If we wanted to hear something run they would turn it on for us.

You have to love motorcycle

By sandy12018 |

Have been here a couple of times and they are always trying to change things up so your not seeing the same things each time you go. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about all that's there. More motorcycles than cars but lots of transportation history. Good place to visit if you love history of old motorcycles.

Truly Wheels Through Time to see!

By Denise S |

We were going through Maggie Valley on the way to a business trip and seen the sign for Museum. We made a point to come back the same way to visit on our return.

It is amazing ….for any motorcycle enthusiast or history buff to see the huge selection of exhibits. It is truly “wheels through time” well worth the visit!

A special “gem” found along our drive!!

BEST stop ever! A must-see.

By sjsh1959 |

If you are a motor-head -- or just think it's fun to look at 100-year old motorcycles, cars, and the history that surrounds them -- then this is a MUST-SEE for you! On our 10-day vacation in the Smokey Mountains this was without-a-doubt my favorite thing. There 's a fee to get in but it's well worth it. They have vintage Harley's and Indians as well as some one-off's including the world's rarest one of a kind motorcycle found inside a wall during WWI. Just go see this! It's amazing.

Very nice museum with great hosts

By Andrew J |

It was a cold day in November and instead of going for a hike, decided to go to Wheels Through Time. It was a great idea and we had an exceptional time. The folks working there were very nice and Andy was an excellent host.

Highly recommended.

Great museum! Will bring family next trip!

Great time. So many bikes, so little time! Lots of information on many of the displays and the young man ( I’m sorry I’m blanking on his name - young man with blond hair who is EXCEPTIONALLY knowledgeable) was a fountain of information. So much fun to see how passionate he is about what he’s doing. Not just Harley-Davidson bikes-several others and novelty bikes too. Definitely worth 2-3 hours. Learned a lot. Will be bringing family here next trip.

Unexpected fun visit

By happy2review |

We took a trip for the weekend to the Asheville area. We decided we wanted to take a ride to Cherokee and on the way, we passed a sign for this museum. My husband noticed it and said that he used to watch the show (What's in the Barn) and would love to see the museum. Naturally, we had to stop and visit.

I have to be honest. I am not a motorcycle buff by any means and neither is my husband. However, he was a fan of the show, seemed to know a lot about it and about the owner and kept saying how he appreciates what he does. Even though this is not really "my thing" I had a good time. The place is well laid out and there was so much to see. As others have said, even if you are not really into motorcycles, there is a lot of history going on here. There were so many great photos and artifacts from the past to browse through. They even had some old cars and that was a plus because my husband IS a huge car buff.

We had to the chance to enter a raffle, for a fee, and place our ticket in their "wishing well". I thought that was cute. The admission was $15 each. Everyone was friendly. They had a nice little gift shop too. There are other things to see in the area as well so it is worth a visit if you ever find yourself near here.

Overwhelming!

We we’re heading back to Ohio from a family visit when I saw the sign for Maggie Valley, when it finally dawned on me why that name was familiar, I just about passed the get off ramp. I’m so glad that I stopped.
My first impression was absolutely astonishment! Everywhere you look there’s something amazing, even when you look at the same place again, there’s something you’ve missed. I got to meet Dale Walksler, what a very nice person. Thank you to him and his staff for putting together such a collection of history! Wow!
I will return, with more allotted time.

Excellent in everyway

Well worth the stop. If someone in the museum ask you if you have a question have one ready because his stories of the bikes in there are so interesting and informative. Could of spent hours in there and we are not museum people. Well displayed and laid out.

Must See for Motorcycle Enthusiast

By Istager |

It will take some time to go through this museum, it is jam full of memories. My husband enjoyed it more than I did, but this trip was all about him and what he wanted to do. This was the reason we visited Maggie Valley. If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, this is a must visit if in the area.

A Must See Museum for any gear head!

By jt11818 |

An amazing collection of bikes and unique automotive history. And they run! Heard and saw 4-5 bikes fired up. The smell of combustion and oil was awesome! The burnout marks on the floor are amazing! Be respectful and don’t touch everything; just ask the staff and they are very willing to let you look at anything.

Matt and the crew worked on a bike right in the isle, oil dripping into a drain pan, tools and shop rags on the floor. A real working-man’s museum; any gearheads dream garage! It is authentic.

This museum is a more than once-in-a-lifetime visit. I will be back!

Lots to look at

By james6764 |

This is a must see for anyone into motorcycles or anyone that enjoys going back through history. This is an actual running museum. The day we were there Dale was in the museum talking to some people and would fire up some of the pieces in the collection. To have the owner actually spend time with people and answer questions is a great thing that many businesses do not do. To bring able to listen to him about the different bikes was amazing.

Truly a treasure chest

So much to see, so take your time, relax and enjoy. This place is fabulous if you love motorcycles and even if you don't you will be amazed..

"Amazing Love For Motorcycles"

By tomvh54 |

First my Wife and I went to the Wonderful Maggie Valley then we toured this wonderful museum.

I learned about this museum from a good friend of mine ,so we stopped to visit.

Amazing Museum

By Theresa G |

This museum has so much history to see. Thoroughly amazing. I would highly recommend visiting if you are in the area. So many different types of motorcycles, memorabilia and artwork. I was in awe.

Awesome

By Cassie4d4 |

Everything here is American made which is kind of cool. Most of the things are HD & Indian but they do have a few rarer bikes/cars. There is a TON in this museum and it's a lot to take in. You could easily spend all day here and still not see everything. They have a wall of death show throughout the day as well which is cool. The staff is very friendly, informative and willing to answer any questions you may have. Would definitely stop by again.

Great place to visit...

By minivandivia71 |

My family and I visted the museum today. It was awesome! Got to see things we watching on American Pickers episodes and much much more! You get to walk at your own pace. I like to Look at everything! So it took us awhile to go through. The Staff was very informative and super nice! I would recommend going to the museum and taking your time just to take on all the nostalgia of everything in there.

Great place to visit

By Monique E |

What an amazing collection! We’ve seen the museum on tv, but to be there is quite something else. There are mostly motorcycles, but also some bycicles and cars.
Even for non-bikers like us it was a great experience.

Fabulous Time with Motorcycles

By Courtenay O |

I'm not a motorcycle fan, but for my hubby and girlfriend's SO, I went. Throughout our ninety minute visit, we saw more motorcycles than I knew existed. We walked and looked at our own pace & stopped to read and see the iPad information at staged areas. The iPads had background information and videos. Employees with vast knowledge answered questions and stopped to talk in-depth about solitary exhibits to anyone who listened, and we listened.

When you enter the museum, you are actually in the gift shop. This is also where you pay admission ($15 adults & $12 senior citizens). Walk into the museum, and you see the evolution of motorcycles from inception to modern times. We all liked the history - war years, racing, television shows, women’s roles, and so much more.

We liked best the 23 year old guide who started up Dale’s first motorcycle for us & also talked in depth about the rarest motorcycle in the world made by Richard Traub & found behind a brick wall in Chicago. We didn’t see & read everything, but what we saw was educational, impressive, and fun.

Amazing

By tshm2017 |

We had a great guide that led us through the museum. I saw so many motorcycles that I never knew existed. In addition the collection had cars, bicycles and so much more. I would suggest stopping at this attraction if you are an avid motorcycle fan.

Worth a look

By Christina C |

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this museum. We drove to Maggie Valley just for this and it didn’t disappoint. You could easily spend two hours or more especially if you soak in every vehicle and read the info. The exhibits are grouped well and the atmosphere was pleasant. Recommended.

Off the beaten path and worth the trip!!

By Sandi T. |

This is one awesome museum. There is something here for any/ all motorcycle enthusiasts. We spent an entire day here and still came back the next day to finish. Andy, Tony, and Matt are incredibly knowledgeable and answered every question that we and other visitors around us had. They gave history on museum items and Andy went above and beyond finding answers to my question in a book they have for purchase. This is a must see place if you love motorcycles and you might learn a few things in the process. I know I did.

Potato Potato !

We planned on going and Mother N provided us with a nice rainy day for an inside museum to see ! It was a Treat for an old rider ! Staff was outgoing and started up bikes at random ! My honey and I really enjoyed the day the worst part was having to drive across the Great Smokey Mountain Park and up the Plue Ridge Parkway to get there !

Unbelievable!! Don’t miss.

Amazing display of vintage 100 plus, year old and newer American motorcycles etc. something for everyone but bikes rule here. Plus they all run! Well laid out displays but open,on floor displays . Also , the best collection of guides I’ve ever encountered. They all are smart, funny and love their work. The best $12 I ever spent.

Husband went and loved it!

My husband really enjoyed the Wheels Through Time museum. He said he would definitely return- which says a lot for him!

Great Museum as shown on Discovery channel

Spent hours viewing all the motorcycle items. We are not motorcycle or history buffs but it sire was interesting. Well laid out and information available for each display on this self guided tour. Staff was very helpful and availaable for questions.

Complete!

If you're an enthusiast, This is a place or you. Especially for Harley. The museum s nicely laid out with period correct themes. It's complete from one end of the spectrum to the other. You will see an old cycle run while your there! Defiantly worth a visit.

Love this place.

By Tracey M |

This is one of my husband and I favorite museum. We stopped on our way to gatlinburg. We love looking at the bikes and cars they have and all the workers are friendly and helpful. Most of the bikes run and we saw a few of them started and run for few minutes. We will return.

A must place to see !

By Dale W |

It was closed this trip, but I have been there two trips before. Our wife's even enjoyed it. Dale and his family and staff are wonderful to talk with.

The best motorcycle museum

By ioram |

Indescribable is that for me it is the best motorcycle museum in the world.
All the machines in here work.
Once a year they make a raffle so you can win an old motorcycle.
I really like that the managers of the place recognize me to come so many times and be bringing tourism to the place.
Arrive early as this place merits it and if you're lucky you can ask Matt to take you for a ride in a Sidecar.
Ticket cost is only $15 per person and I think we owe them every time we go.

Great collection, friendly staff

By John S |

Awesome collection of old American transport - mainly motorcycles

The museum where everything runs...pioneer vehicles are regularly started and run.

Very informal setting, where you can get VERY close to most of the exhibits.

Amazing

By Betty G |

From bicycles to classic cars to Traub, Indian and Harleys, what a great place to see nostalgia and lots and lots of history. Andy was great when talking about a particular car or motorcycle. So knowledgable and a great speaker. He definitely holds your attention.

Just stopped in

By Mimi R |

If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, this place is a must see. We had no idea the number of motorcycles they would have. The displays and exhibits were very nice.

Great collection of vintage cycles and memories from era's past.

By mopluv |

Lots of cycles from every sport, biker event, 1900 to date. Military, hill climbing, drag racing, land speed, clothing, helmets, you name it, and Through Time has a piece of every era. Very informative.

Motorcycle heaven!!!!!

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. One of these visits I'd like to meet Dale and thank him for all of the hardy work he's done to establish and maintain this beautiful facility.

If you are a motorcyclist, this is a must see.

By John K |

Great collection of all manner and make of motorcycles. The staff was friendly, and gladly answered questions about the various exhibits. I would go again.
