This was a nice place to visit and there was a speaker walking around, telling about plants and answering questions. Several people around the pond, working on paintings. Very pretty and it was amazing how many different plants/flowers they had there!

A nice easily accessed area with shade and many nice gardens to look at. Immediately off the core trail and on the free bus line as well.

Beautiful 6-acre park with over 60 themed mini gardens that you can explore on walking trails. There is a pond, wildlife, and various types of plants to take in. Our kids were interested and enjoyed the live music as part of a summer concert series. Highly recommend for a free activity.

The Yampa River Botanic Park is free and well worth your time. It is located a few blocks from downtown Steamboat Springs. Park your car at the far end of the parking lot from where you enter. The same parking lot is also used by those on the grass playing fields next to the Botanic Park. The Botanic Park itself is a very easy walk and is wheelchair accessible. Although modest in size, the Botanic Park is interesting and very well maintained and has a small pond. Enjoy.

The Yampa River Botanic Park is a botanical garden located on Pamela Lane, off U.S. Highway 40, outside Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It is open dawn to dusk from spring until the first heavy snow in the winter. The park has easy access and is simply beautiful to walk. The paths are level and can be accessed by wheelchairs or strollers. There are many benches to use to sit and reflect on the gardens, lake, flowers or simply to be still and quiet. After walking the grounds I sat and read from a novel I recently purchased. There are restrooms to use. This is a definite place to visit.

Whether you are a visitor or a local, this is a a place to visit in spring, summer, or fall. Donated by a generous local family, this is a beautiful, quiet garden in the midst of a busy town, but it also hosts performances, out door yoga, and children's activities. Go see the variety of plants that lives in this challenging environment. Great for adults and children.

This is a smaller botanic gardens but very nice and incredible that it is free. There is a donation box at the entrance. I was there is July when lots of flowers were in bloom. It was laid out very nice with different types of gardens. I'd recommend checking it out.

We had read the reviews concerning mosquitoes and encountered a few near the pond in the middle. Other than that area it was not bad. It is so nice to have so many volunteers taking care of these gardens. In a June there are a lot of flowers blooming with a few not yet started. It was not a bad walk from the center of town if you are up to it. It was 1.6 miles each way along the river trail. The gardens are well worth a visit.

Beautiful, well kept park
We loved the plants, ponds and trees!
It was a lovely place to walk while on a trip to Steamboat Springs.
Recommend a visit!

They offer tours on Wednesdays and Sundays at 10 and we were grateful to happen upon a tour. This park is donation-only. Parking is near the soccer fields. This is an absolutely gorgeous botanic park well cared-for by volunteers and with a variety of plants, flowers, and trees. We were delighted to see multiple hummingbirds! We were happy to meet a primary gardener, Jeff, who has been a key driver for this wonderful community project. You can see the local osprey nest with a well-positioned telescope. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and our tour!

This is such a special place. We have stopped in on our walk along the river each morning of our visit to Steamboat. The volunteers do a fantastic job.

To start off, I have to say we were rushing through the park due to approaching rain. That said, there are very interesting displays of flowers, plants and rock formations. I wished we could have spent more time reviewing all the plant types and names but weren't able to.
My SO and her daughter loved the flowers and spent much time reviewing each display we were able to visit.
I would recommend this stop on any summer visit for a slower paced activity.

With only 59 days a year without a killing frost in this region, this garden is indeed an oasis. A must see in the heart of Steamboat Springs!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit in this Park; it was during sunset and that set beautiful shadows and emphasized different colors.

We attended a wedding and reception. Breathtaking gardens and really nice facility. Enjoyed self-guided tour and walked along river back to our hotel.

Our daughter loved the fairy garden and friendly staff. We also enjoyed the updated white board telling us which flowers and gardens had seasonal highlights.

Wonderful place, so well tended by the locals. AND FREE! Can't say enough good about this place. beautiful!

I've been to few garden around the world, most in larger cities. This one surprised me a bit, mostly since Steamboat Springs is a high mountain town. There were many great displays of what's possible at this elevation.

Tuesday morning yoga in the park was transcendent. Around 75 of us gathered around the instructor to greet the day with an all-level yoga class. How lovely to do the sun salutation to the actual sun. This was one of the highlights of the trip and well worth the $10 suggested donation—after all, the money supports the gardens.
While rather compact, the gardens are lovely. Do make the effort to find this hidden gem just West of Lincoln Ave. You end up parking at the end of Pamela Lane and crossing the soccer field to get into the park. You can also access it from the Core Trail.

Beautiful gardens well maintained but bring your mosquito repellent. No fee free parking donations appreciated. 11 paid horticulturists on staff.

My mother and I came here in the summer and just fell in love with the colorful array of flowers, the fairy-feature for kiddos to enjoy and all the little tucked-away areas to picnic or daydream at : ) It's a great place for children to explore and there are many artists sculptures, areas to sit back and relax, along with yoga classes there too. Definitely recommend coming here! ( Then grab some lunch at Freshies or Mamba's) .
Follow me @restless_roamer_ for some more snaps! Enjoy!

The Botanic Park is tucked behind the city sports fields and shielded from the parking lot by mature trees, but don't be deterred -- this is definitely worth a visit, especially for gardeners and nature lovers. The grounds are organized into themed garden "neighborhoods" that have matching colors or habitats. All the plants are pretty clearly labelled too, so you can learn something as you walk around. We saw lots of kids enjoying the secret trails and fairy garden areas, and there are so many birds that visit the garden. And it's free!

Beautiful self guided tour through the flower gardens or they also have guided tours at certain times. Many different plants and the garden is highly maintained.

We had ridden our bikes past the park a number of times and finally stopped in. The park is laid out beautifully and shows the local botanic diversity. We also had one of the park's staff point out the Osprey nest and watched the Osprey. Great place.

The plantings, organization, volunteer love of the space are in plain view with beautiful thriving flowering plants-trees-shrubs assembled to the purpose of delighting your senses and attracting wild life. Hummingbirds love this garden!

We enjoy botanic gardens wherever we go and the Yampa River Botanic Park was a real surprise. It has all the plants and trees of the area. It is well layed out. The trails are easy to walk. And just about all the plants are labeled. Plus it shows the care and concern of dedicated volunteers in its upkeep.
Well worth the 2 or 3 hours spent in its peaceful surrounds.

In early September, many of the flowers aren't in bloom, but the Park is still beautiful, with many walks off the main trail. Benches are everywhere and it was very peaceful this time of year. It is away from the hustle and bustle of town - an easy walk along the river from Steamboat. I enjoy coming here every time I visit 'the Boat'!

Lovely garden and very informative and passionate people. We caught the nature walk at 10am and it was nice to have someone show is around. We ended up taking off on our own. It is an easy park to get around. Nice morning walk.

My family really enjoyed walking through the floral plantings at theses wonderful gardens. They are fastidiously maintained and they held the attention of our young children due to the variety and color. The only downside was that the labeling of many of the plants was not in their common English name but in Latin or not at all. Easily visited in an hour. Plenty of parking.

My wife and I were only expecting a small flower garden, but this is so much better! The park is filled with beautifully designed gardens with various themes reflecting plants from different ecosystems and biomes. We loved exploring the garden's picturesque walkways and chatting with one of the local volunteers who gave us some really unique insights. While easy to miss from the outside, this is a definite must-see in Steamboat.

This is a nice park just on the Yampa River Core Trail. In September many of the flowers have gone by, but there were still fall blooming flowers, and other plants. There are lots of paths, and frequent benches to sit on. It is free, run by volunteers, with donation box available.

I loved this garden! It wasn't busy at all when we went in the later afternoon. It was beautiful and we all enjoyed it, even my 10 and 12 year old boys! Additional bonus that is was FREE! My 12yr old wanted to go a second time and we definitely go again when we visit.

What a gorgeous gem of a botanical garden! and its free! Highly recommend this stop on the river trail

This is a lovely garden with so many different varieties of flowers. It is well laid out and there is nice signage so that you know what you are looking at. Bathrooms there are also great!

Created and maintained by volunteers, this 5-acre garden on the shores of the Yampa River is a wonderful place to spend an hour or so in the summer months. The garden is segmented into a number of thematic sections artfully laid out and connected by a broad walk that meanders from one to the next. In the summer, the garden is home to free Thursday noon concerts and evening plays put on by the local theater group. The noon concert we attended featured a very professional male guitar duet singing popular music mostly of the 60s & 70s. There was probably an audience of 150+ spread out over the lawn on a bright and sunny afternoon. A great experience.

We visited this botanic park in August 2017 and found this to be a very nice park area. There was a free yoga class occurring at the park in the morning. It is a fenced area, but accessible from some biking trails, and there is a nice parking lot. It has some very nice restrooms in the park. There are wide and easy trails throughout the park, and there also some stepping stone trails up through the plants. It was a very peaceful walk through the park, and you could see workers throughout the park, tending to the plants.

My wife and I have visited several botanical gardens. This one is the most colorful of those we have visited. It is a good size -- easy for walking, and dense with plants. The free concert was a nice option. We appreciate the many volunteers who make this all possible for visitors.

This is such a beautiful botanical garden! We happened to visit during a free concert on Thursday afternoon and it was so nice to walk through the garden while listening to music. Our kids like the Children’s Garden. There’s an area where they can build a fairy garden out of wooden blocks. You can park and enter the garden or come by bike and enter directly from the bike trail. The garden is free and there are restrooms. Relaxing way to spend the afternoon!

We were here in July 2025 but just now writing the review. It is small compared to big city botanical gardens but totally perfect. It is right off the bike path so easily accessible for car, bike, or walker. The volunteers and staff take great care and show their pride in this gem. The various hidden path and benches make it fun to explore and the different features/plant types of divided areas is very nice too. I made a point of coming back on my own, setting out a blanket and enjoying hours of reading and writing in the big lawn area. We loved Steamboat Springs and this botanical garden was a big part of that love.

Lovely park! The attention to detail was evident. Lots of colorful varieties of vegetation! It wasn't crowded, not a very large park, but definitely worth the time.

This Botanical Garden contains a diverse collection of landscapes, lovingly created by different contributors. The plants are well marked as well as the stories of the " neighborhoods".

What an amazing garden!! Spring has just come to Steamboat--so quite a few people were working on the garden. Some looked like employees--but there were a large group of volunteers also. The gardens were amazing. The assortment of Tulips was incredible. The gardens are colorful and very easy to navigate. The signage is very clear and helpful to read about local plants. The landscape design is facinating--as many areas are multi-tiered. there is a very nice lake in the center. We really enjoyed our visit.

The scale of this gem lends itself to exploration and imagination. No straight lines, and gardens are three dimensional.

We enjoyed the peace and quiet of these beautiful gardens. We walked to it on a very pleasant riverside path from town. However, don’t forget the insect repellent! We got very badly bitten on our visit!

Today I walked thru this fantastic botanical park. There is so much to see and it is well taken care of. I loved the water lilies and so many beautiful and unusual plants. There are many benches to sit and enjoy the beauty. It is a wonderful park and it is free.

We didn't get a chance to go through the whole garden but we did see some terrific gardens: butterfly garden, humming bird, garden, crevice garden, wind garden, and the pond. We do have to go back to fully enjoy all this park has to offer.
Word of warning... be very careful if the parking lot is full. Many parking tickets on Pamela Lane.

Nice little spot to take a walk and see the flowers. Plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the views including the Yampa which runs along the side. They have concerts on the green which draws a crowd. Definitely worth taking the time to see.

Had a nice afternoon wedding by the pond. The grounds are well kept with lots of variation of plants. Good for a stroll around the gardens and watching the hummingbirds and butterfly.

My guide was so knowledgeable and gave an excellent tour of the Botanic Park. Most of the flowers were in full bloom. After getting a lot of snow during the winter, the flowers were huge and beautiful.

We absolutely loved this place. It was such a beautiful place well done and no charge! There was so much to look at. I loved it!!

My 10 year old son and I along with some other friends went tubing on the Yampa River one afternoon. It was great fun! Definitely add this to your "to do" list as well! We rented tubes to float on and the company that rented them to us had a van that picked us up at the end and brought us back to the shop. It was easy, enjoyable, and memorable!
We saw many fishermen on the Yampa in the mornings so if fishing is more your speed, please keep it in mind and add it to your list of things to do.

As we were inquiring about local things to do, the woman behind the counter at the Chamber of Commerce suggested that we visit the Botanical Gardens, so we used the walkway to get there and followed various trails throughout the park. I was amazed to learn that there are only 60 days a year that don't have a killing frost there! That's basically July and August.
We took some pictures and decided to book a white water rafting trip since it was a beautiful day.

Not a big park but worth seeing. It's quite lovely. Lots of colors and lots of attention to detail.
They do have donation yoga in the park 3 mornings per week. Was wishing I got there a little earlier

Just a very different little park, with a range of species. Had an osprey and young nesting outside. U feel u are supporting the community by going.

The is a donation exhibit. They put alot of time and money into the gardens. Very nicely done. Want to thank the owners for a nice place to visit.

Beautiful variety of plants, trees, and flowers. Lots of little trails off the main trail to explore. Kids loved it!

We came here for a concert of Steamboat Strings Festival but stayed afterward and checked out all the flowers. There is enough ground to provide space for a nice little walk and different sections for different landscapes. It's incredibly beautiful. We were lucky enough to run into a man who lived right on the border and he told us a lot about the park's history and other details. The park is right on the Yampa Trail so it's easy to take a lovely bike ride and then a lovely walk.

What a beautiful summertime Steamboat treasure! Yoga in the Park is very nice. We had the treat of meeting Jeff (and his cat, Trip) and received a personal tour of his part of the garden.

A group of 6 us went to the Botanic Park to look around. We were pleasantly surprised. What a pretty relaxing place. I took about 30 pictures of plants we might consider planting at home. We wondered for about 60 to 90 minutes. Lots of places to sit and relax. Lots of very pretty colors. There are a bunch of statues, the resting bear was my favorite. Go and enjoy. The sound of the water running in the river is a great backdrop to the wondering.
The only negative was the mosquitoes in one particular area.Four mosquitoes did not survive the encounter, and I wound up with on bite on the arm.

If you like flowers ... This is for you. A little hard to find, but well worth it. Not too big but for an hour plus this is a wonderful place to spend part of you day.
Areas were you can picnic or just relax and enjoy a sunny day.
Be sure to leave a donation to help keep this great addition to Steamboat Springs going.

We stopped there on way to airport and VERY glad we did. A wonderfull botanical garden with a variety of examples of local flora. Be sure to watch for the resident Osprey couple living in a nest site near the river.

this park is one of the best kept and most interesting parks we have visited.
a small lake awaits you as well as numerous plants and trees.
There were quite a few volunteers working this large park and they keep it immaculate.
we wish we had such a park near our home.
thanks to all the people who work this park, we appreciate your dedication.

Wonderful garden with a lily pond. During the summer there are performances at the gazebo in the center.

Visited in early-May so much working going on to get ready from the winter months -- free to enter and it is quite nice; can only imagine view when everything is in bloom. Recommend going to see while on the Yampa River Trail Hike.

Yampa River Botanic Park is stunning! Lush and well kept... even in this unseasonable heat. All the flowers are labeled so it makes for a fun educational outdoor walk too :) There are many hidden little areas to discover and benches throughout the park to sit back and enjoy the beautiful gardens. Well done!

We were there on a perfect day -- bright sunny skies and a cool breeze. The gardens were quite lovely and we enjoyed a picnic lunch on one of the benches overlooking the giant pond in the middle of the garden. Lots of nice exhibits and quiet garden spots for reading, reflecting, visiting, or just taking in the sights.

The botanic park was beautiful and peaceful on an early Sunday morning; recommend getting there before crowds.

Great place to visit alone or with family and friends. Butterflies, hummingbirds, flowers and small pond.

We loved the variety in this botanic park, which features not only information on the flora there, but also, sections which are dedicated to different people. It's evident that this park was built by and sustained by community. A wonderful place to wander on a summer or autumn day!

Excellent mission of celebrating serenity of trees shrubs..plants and birds of Yampa valley.
The Yampa river botanical park has more than 500 trees and 63 gardens. It's really commendable that in mountainous region to make the soil fertile and ensure very exclusive and unique coloured and variety of flowers can be seen by one. And all visiting the park There is ample parking and well-manicured pathways, leading to a very nice thrill with beautiful rock gardens, children's park, a small lake and a very interesting spread, pine trees. It is a free entry. I am commendable that the park works on donations, which are having different levels. Starting from $100 at entry level, we laughed every bit of creation as the spark is an Oasis, the design avoids straight lines. The pathways are twisted and turned, and the gardens give 3D. Effects The youths to be seen with a cluster of trees surrounding the lakes. Very interesting visit apple parking and restrooms available in the park must visit when visiting steamboard springs, very beautiful visit

We loved this park. It had so many different varieties of gardens, from red rock crevice gardens, to the foliage gardens, to a serene pond surround by trees and lush perennials and annuals . So different than the usual rose garden, tulips, and perennials. There were cultivars of local plants that I had never seen before. I liked the penstemon garden, the rainbow gardens and the hidden garden. My husband enjoyed the crevice garden, the fair gardens and the medicinal herb garden. All in all, every garden was special. I highly recommend going if you are looking for something that is a resite from all of the other activity in boat, as the locals call it.

I love riding my bike to the Botanic Park at different times of the summer to see the flowers and plants. There is so much diversity and variety, something is blooming and growing at all times.

Located adjacent to the Yampa River, it is a most beautiful garden to satisfy every one of your senses. Kept by local volunteers, you can feel the love.

Located next to a large field for soccer, etc., don't be fooled by its location. Signage is not great. Parking in the lot next to the field, you follow a path into the Botanical Park. Mostly flat, many paths lead you to wonderful plantings naming the plants and the sponsors of that area. We were lucky to see an osprey nest, barely making out the mother of one young chick. A great way to spend one or two hours.

I visited this beautiful garden and thoroughly enjoyed the diversity of flowers and plants!
There were several paths through out and benches to sit and quietly reflect. The garden was free to visit, and well worth the visit! There is also an Osprey nesting area close by
and I saw the fledglings learning to catch fish.

Little did we know that the thick trees we could see from our room held this beautiful gem. We packed up our breakfast and coffee and walked down to this free botanical garden. We found a beautiful shady spot, which we shared wilh the hummingbirds, to sit and eat our breakfast. While we were gazing at the beautiful reflection on the pond, we were treated to an aerial bird fight between an osprey and a turkey vulture.
As we were walking around, I heard some baby birds. My husband spotted them. 5 baby cedar waxwings sitting in a row on a branch in the thick of a tree. This is an fantastic place to connect with nature and refuel your soul. Thank you Steamboat for providing this peaceful, beautiful paradise.

Visiting the botanic garden is free to the public1 There is a donation box but not required. The gardens are maintained by local volunteers who were working there when we were there. They will happily answer any questions about the gardens. There is a small pond to view. There are benches where a person can sit and admire the grounds. The paths around the gardens are handicapped accessible (I am handicapped so I know!). Very peaceful. Lots of different varieties of flowers. Very beautiful. Worth a quick visit!

This is a small park, with a wide variety of plants in a lovely setting. Parking is convenient, and there is no charge. It should be part of anyone's visit to Steamboat Springs. It is also adjacent to the Yampa River Core Trail, which makes it a convenient place to pause for a while if you are walking the river trail.

Great little botanical garden. Different flower beds and great place to chill during the hot summer day. Very serine and beautiful. And it's totally free!

They have yoga 3 times a week on the lawn in the middle of the gardens. Talk about peaceful! The Botanical Garden is a very special place for Steamboat.

What a lovely experience we had here! The park is beautiful with a large parking lot for easy access. We did an enjoyable self guided tour (followed the brochure) around the garden. We were there at the end of September so there was not many flowers/plants in bloom. I imagined the spring and summer times would be an explosion of blooming. The pond was stunning as it reflected the fall colors. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience. And, the park is FREE!

Moving around at this Botanic park lets you explore different plants, trees and vegetation. Clean air and peaceful place.

Really nice and enjoyable walk. Had fun seeing the different gardens and river. Easy and short trail. My favorite was the fairy garden.

We couldn’t figure out where to go..but park at the soccer fields and walk the gravel path from there to the park entrance.

Really lovely botanic garden, well worth making a stop. An hour will do. Nice paths take you to different parts. Trees were just turning colors, so it was beautiful.

We didn't expect as much color this time of year with it being early September, but it was quite nice. I'm sure it is truly stunning late spring and early summer. Great for a short stroll midday. I'm sure after the first freeze, it will look very different. Allow 1-1.5 hours for your stroll.

Wonderful garden with many varieties and all are well marked. Ample parking. Had a luminary one night that was great.

Really beautiful garden area outside of town. Very quiet and peaceful, and best of all, completely free! Nice place to sit and read and also a great place just to walk through. Highly recommend!

What a neat, free experience tucked off the Yampa river! Even in fall, there was a lot to see. My kids LOVED all the paths to explore! We were here for 2 hours wandering...

Great place to spend an hour or two. There is some shade but if its sunny and hot, take a hat. Plenty of places to sit, gardens are well marked and plants have tags.

Went to the botanical park with our children plus nieces and nephew; 9 kids in total ranging in age from 3-15. All of them loved the park. Tons of little paths everywhere and "secret" trails that kept them all amused (and adults happy) for several hours.

An early morning walk through this small, well designed botanic garden was something I could do again and again. Native flowers nicely displayed in several different gardens, good walking paths and a lake that provides marvelous reflections for a photographer all make for a wonderful way to start the day

We had a lovely breakfast again. We eat there when we visit the family frequently. Everything on the menu has been terrific and the staff is always friendly. Do arrive early on the weekend as they do get busy. If you have to wait it’s worth it. The patio is awesome!

When we got to the park we found out there was going to be a free musical performance that day. We stayed for the music (guitar band) and it was great. The park is well maintained and is picture postcard beautiful.

Great place for a relaxing walk. Well kept and manicured. So many themes and plant types to get your own garden imagination going.

If you enjoy plants, flowers, etc., you've gotta take this place in. 6 acre gem is exactly right. The planning, planting and maintenance of this beautiful area is obvious though it's whereabouts can be somewhat hard to find. We spent a couple hours looking at all the different areas; hummingbird section, community garden plots, Jeff's garden (a must see, especially if he's there to personally give you the history behind his part and the entire garden as a whole), the osprey nest, etc. Absolutely beautiful, thank you to all who spend time/finances to make this what it is!

Went to the Botanic Park to watch a free Shakespeare in the Park performance that we saw in the local paper while we were in town. Decided to go back to the park again the following day to experience the park itself. It's a lovely walk, well maintained, and we learned a little about Colorado vegetation. Best of all, in an expensive resort town, this is a lovely (and rare) free activity

If you want an easy stroll through a beautiful garden, this is the place to go. There are benches scattered throughout so you can sit and take in the scenery and just relax. The best part- it's free.

If you are looking for great scenery and a place to relax in the morning or afternoon I would say this is a great spot. A lot to take in and look at. The osprey nest is especially cool. Great photo opps!

Beautiful, peaceful, so much love and work has gone into this area. Very relaxing and educational as well.
I had a spur of a moment on visiting Walden and I figured to go to Steamboat springs, as I had never been to the city. I did a "things to see" search while in the area, and the Yampa River Botanical Park came up.
I am so glad I did not skip this over. The garden park was absolutely stunning to me and I would recommend any plant lover. Gardener. Nature lover or any visitor to do a walk through.

This is a great garden! Well maintained. Beautiful colors. Very family friendly. And FREE
Just remember to bring bug spray and sunscreen

I am not much for botanical visits but this was a great park. My daughter and I took the Core trail to the side entrance and saw an osprey on the way. Very peaceful, I strongly recommend.

Smaller botanic garden but very well thought out. Especially enjoyed the fairy garden area. Only downside was mosquitos so spray if you need to, still worth it.

Loved walking through this oasis of beauty two days in a row. The flowers are gorgeous and the pond is serene. I loved the sculpture that depicts a person lifting their hands in praise alongside the pond.

The lovely Botanic Gardens sits beside the Yampa River, and is a quiet place to see many rightly colored flowers. There are free concerts at noon on Thursdays. Bring a lawn chair. Often yoga is also offered-watch the calendar in the local newspaper. Bring insect repellent, as sometimes there are mosquitoes.

I'm a local, and I often bring visitors here. It's an oasis of calm in any season. There's a pretty pond and many varied garden areas. Gardening is not easy in an alpine environment with a short growing season. The staff and volunteers do a wonderful job.

If you like flowers and gardens, then this is the place for you! It is a well planned botanical garden with wide trails and smaller 'hidden' paths that take you from garden to garden. You'll find everything from whimsical statues to a Buddhist Zen garden to native high altitutude plants. The staff was engaging and informative. Every plant had a label. There is also access from the Yampa core trail for bike riders. At the far end from the parking lot is a nice rest room with a water fountain in the sink. Also at the far end are two picnic tables with views of the Yampa river. We had a picnic lunch at a bench under some huge pine trees. Evidently there is also live music on Thursdays. This is the type of place that if I lived nearby then I would visit once a week. While there is no fee to enjoy this area, a donation box is set up to help keep it going. I hope that was helpful!

Very nice place for a walk. Beautiful gardens and a small pond. It’s very well kept and free. Benches to sit and chat or just enjoy the beautiful flowers and plants.

For some reason when we walked in the entry the mosquitoes just swarmed us. It was noon and we had not seen any bugs until then. All week there were no bug problems. Remember to bring repellent and don’t wear dark clothing. Aside from that it is a very nice place. Just wish we could have stayed to enjoy it.

This park is top notch and maintained very well, right along the yampa river. Would recommend walking through several times a year!

I didn't expect this place to be as amazing as it was. The fact that it was adjacent to a public park in a small mountain town fooled us into thinking it would be less impressive than it was and we had only planned an hour for our visit. Well, we ended up staying for over two hours and could have stayed longer. There are so many plants, flowers, and trees to look at. Beautiful water features and sculptures are scattered throughout. This is an absolute must visit place if you are in Steamboat.

Free, real bathrooms, good sculptures, ...
The gardens are well tended, with many of the plants labeled. Keep an eye out for hummingbirds and butterflies in/around their specified gardens. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing many varieties of flowers that I can't see at home. Also, the many little paths through the various gardens allow you to get 'up-close-and-personal' with many blossoms - something the photographer in me totally loved!
If you're the sister of a photographer there's not much to do, but there is a nice paved trail just outside the boundaries of the garden

If your looking for a slow pace activity to recharge your batteries, a leisure stroll through the park is what you need. There is no charge and the atmosphere is relaxing. Bring a book and sit at the reflection pond or just sit and watch the birds and butterflies. We were there in June and the garden was just starting to grow for summer, I wish I could have seen it in full bloom.

A beautiful park that you can meander through. We went in October so it didn't have your typical flowers blooming but there was still plenty of greenery, beautiful aspens turning yellow and several flower plants still in bloom. We went during a rainstorm and it gave it a beautiful, idyllic atmosphere where we watched the raindrops make ripples on the ponds. All the trails are paved and there are opportunities to climb up little rock stairs to view other areas of the garden. Best of all, it's free!

Fabulous garden treasure. Breath taking displays of flowers and trees and everything is labeled. It’s an example of the labor of loving people and a banner for the community of art in flowers and nature. Refreshing place of beauty.

Peaceful and lovely botanic garden. A great place to stroll and enjoy the flowers or sit and read, write or meditate. It is free so definitely check it out. You can then go out the gate and do a lovely river walk. You could spend an hour or more depending on what you want to do.

Who would have thought there was an excellent botanical garden right in the middle of Steamboat Springs? Admission is free and walk about at your own pace. There are hundreds of plants, trees, flowers, herbs and the occasional lichen.
A really fun way to spend an hour or two. Walk to it on the Tampa Core Trail.

Very well designed and maintained. A Children’s garden, also.
Free, fun, educational family activity.
Beautiful plants, flowers, trees and pond.
Some days there are free concerts. Bring your own chairs.

What a wonderful place; beautiful gardens with superb labeling. Peaceful and a great venue in which to slow down, take some deep breaths and revel in the beauty of creation.
The gardens have been kept up well and creatively. There is ample opportunity to sit and relax and listen to the birds and wind in the trees. Most of the park is shaded. It is right off the bike path, so you can access it from there as well.
Clean bathrooms available.

cool to the max= quiet, pleasant, warm, friendly, happy, smiling, life moving up, special displays, neat statues,

We were here in May so the garden was in full bloom. Great added surprise in Steamboat. All the gardens are well cared for abs many places to relax and meditate.
Search for elf fairyland. Cool exhibit!
Will I Go Back? Yes. Go here and walk along the Tampa trail.

Park is well-maintained and flowers beautifully in May! Also offers easy parking and access to a couple good fishing spots on the Yampa.

If you love gardens and flowers then make sure you stop here. The park is run by volunteers who maintain the grounds. It is just a delight and I got loads of inspiration for my own garden. There are lots of places to just sit and take in the views. A must see!

My husband and I both loved the gardens. We saw lots of plants that we have in our own gardens and many that we would add. Beautiful setting, well maintained and FREE!!!

Nice easy walk among the different areas. Each labeled with Sponsors and the types of flowers in the garden. Multiple volunteers tending to the grounds even though flowers not in bloom. Shows how much pride they take in the gardens. I can imagine how beautiful it is in the Spring and Summer months.

Our friends and I stopped here to catch a break after biking all day. It’s such a beautiful place to visit. The park is very well maintained. It’s very peaceful. All the plants and flowers are so lush! No dogs allowed though, understandably so.

This was a great find. Beautiful even on a cool drizzly Saturday in late September. There is ample parking, since the garden is adjacent to a youth soccer field. It is a slight walk from the parking lot to the garden, but over a level path.
This is a wonderful gift to the city and its visitors. They have a great variety of plants. The grounds are well maintained by a group of volunteers. Most of the plants are tagged for easy identification. Although the space it compact, the various paths lead to multiple quiet areas, it you just want to sit and relax.
There is a special children’s garden and it looked like that had education programs for kids.
There are some very nice, clean rest rooms near the back of the garden. There is also a separate entrance from the Yampa River Core Trail. I was intrigued by their rock garden installation. Lots of unique small plants separated by flat sandstone rocks stood on end.
Admission to the garden is FREE!! Donations are accepted. I would love to return on a sunny summer day with more flowers in bloom.

Beautiful and relaxing. We stopped here when we took a break from bike riding. We were amazed. You don’t want to miss this. A hidden gem.

Be sure to visit the park and easy walk around the lake and plants...fun little paths throughout...several different areas.

Went here with wife to get a quiet retreat for an hour and found just that. The garden is very nice and included lots of blooming flowers and hummingbirds in the middle of summer. While not huge, you can spend a while here taking your time and enjoying the flora and fauna. They also have an on-site osprey nest! It connects to a walking trail that can take you into town. Worth you time.

This little park is amazing. You won't believe how beautiful it is. We attended a wedding there--the perfect idyllic setting.

Spent a couple of hours exploring the park and had a great time. There was a soccer tournament going on at the same time so we thought parking would be impossible, but 2 different city workers went out of their way to get us a spot. A great (and free) time was had by all.

Great experience! Conveniently located close to restaurants and shopping. Place was tired but provides all that you need and is well equipped. I would certainly returned.

What a lovely two hours! We wandered through gardens of such variety and beauty and enjoyed amazing water features, all in the midst of beautiful, mature trees. This park certainly is the gem of Steamboat Springs!

Much nicer than we expected. Great variety of plants, well taken care of and nicely planned out. We stayed much longer than expected and will return in the future.

This was a beautiful Park - for this time of year. Earlier would have been spectacular. Lots of tings to see.

It was smaller than we expected but very pretty and a great place for a picnic, a nap, reading and even yoga. The wide variety of plants and treed makes for an interesting stroll discovering new plants and taking pictures. It connects to the Yampa River trail to which you can walk or bike, and will take you into downtown Steamboat Springs.

You get a very relaxed feeling when you stroll through the park. It provides a certain quiet calm feeling. The wild flowers and cultivated flowers are arranged in pleasant clusters that draws you to different areas of the park. And it's free! Just respect and enjoy the space.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the breathtaking gardens while you listen to the sounds of the nearby river. Not stodgy and over-manicured, the flower gardens boast a huge variety of flowers and trees. I had never seen so many different types of Columbines before! The whole visit can be done in an hour or so, and is FREE and located very close to town. I would recommend it to everyone!

What a beautiful garden in the middle of town. It has many interesting areas that are clearly outlined on the map. We took a leisurely morning stroll through the garden and stopped to rest in the shady places. You have the option of staying on the level or climbing to some of the areas for a different view. Someone pointed out an osprey nest, which reminded us of the ones we see in Florida.

This is a lovely place, that functions with so much volunteer help. A great spot for a quiet hour of reflection and enjoyment.

A friend and I walked through in about an hour. It was quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed all the wild flowers we saw on hikes, then seeing them here and learning the names.

It's small, but a lovely stroll thru the flowers. There are lots of happy volunteers working at the park who are happy to answer your questions about native and non-native plants. There are also concerts on the lawn.

Flowers were blooming! This was a very nice medium-sized botanical garden. Plants were clearly labeled, and early June is a great time to go.

The botanical garden is a hidden gem. What a great value, There was no admission fee. We wondered through garden after garden of beautiful gardens. As we left, they were setting up for a free concert. It was a lovely place to spend some time.

I LOVE botanical gardens, and this one was no exception! There are many individual plots, each one themed and tended by a particular person or group. There are ones that are color themed, variety themed and others like a fairy garden. Most trees and plants are tagged so it was easy to garner knowledge. There are lots of workers available to offer assistance. We found Audrey just delightful as she took the time to answer some questions for us and chat about gardening.

Saw Midsummer Night's Dream from lawn chairs - charming and thoroughly enjoyable. This event made us feel like townies!

Nice walk and they have quiet walking path. You can get to the Yampa Core Trail from the park. There was a wedding ceremony when we were ther. Nice park!

I went during fall, so most of the flowering plants had already died off for the winter, but seeing the shrubs and trees whit their leaves changing colors was still beautiful.

Volunteers from the Steamboat Springs community have done a fantastic job creating and maintaining an amazing botanical garden. Well worth the visit.

The botanic garden is a pleasant place to go in the summer. Lots of pretty flowers, but don't go near sun down as the mosquitos are out.

The garden is beautiful. I loved the intimacy of it. It is 6 acres with individual garden areas and several ponds. Very diverse plantings. Beautifully maintained.
Even though it was free, the ideas I got from it will cost me quite a bit to implement in my own yard.

What a lovely garden for the size of this city. Well maintained. Many different types of display gardens. Every plant is labeled so you know what you are looking at. Easy access from the river path or the street.

Very scenic park, watched locals doing yoga on the grass. Many small families walking with their children. Nice place to visit.

This is a must see in Steamboat - gorgeous flowers, trees, water features, pathways in an easy to navigate setting.

What beautiful gardens! With all of Steamboat's snowfall, gorgeous plants can grow here. The gardens were stunning! And, we saw a hummingbird on a branch and it did not fit away.

This is a pretty park on the edge of town. It’s not that large, only takes a few minutes to walk around it. Drop by if you are in the area but unless you are big into Flora and Fauna, it’s not a must see in the town

On this trip we visited the Yampa River Botanic Park three different times, once with just my husband and I, then with the grandkids, then the whole family. It is such a beautiful and peaceful place. Each time I saw something new. There are so many inspiring ideas I can't wait to try at home. Our favorite section was the Jeff Morehead garden. We met Jeff working in his garden and he took the time to give us the grand tour. He shared his knowledge of the many imported plants he had incorporated into the landscape, many I had never seen before. The miniature plants growing in the lava rock were my very favorites.
The other gardens were beautiful as well, from the color-themed to the crevice gardens to the secret pathways in the shade, there was something for all tastes. To me, this is an absolute must-see in Steamboat Springs.

Loved the Botanic Park. The flowers were so beautiful, just a wonderful place and it's free to enter. There was a wedding taking place while we were there.

This botanic park is easy to walk around! There are many well-landscaped sections that were full of colorful wild flowers when we visited in May. We were able to view an osprey nest from the park! Close to the river.

We loved this beautiful little garden. It’s such a peaceful and well maintained garden, full of benches to sit and reflect. It was one of our favorite discoveries in Steamboat Springs.

I was not expecting much from the free botanic gardens, but we had a wonderful time there. It is extremely well designed and maintained and was in lush bloom. Enjoy a beautiful walk near the river. Just watch out for mosquitos. There are birds to view too, so keep your eyes open.

These free gardens were a nice little diversion during our stay in Steamboat. Not everything was blooming but the layout of the gardens are excellent with many winding paths and sculptures and other odd attractions. Its an easy walk for those not ready for long hikes or the entire river walk.

Weird that you have to drive through a residential area to get here, but worth the trip. This is a nice 45-60 minute walk through, very well done and maintained. It would be nice if they had some additional bench's/ tables around to picnic. Right next to the Yampa river and soccer/baseball park.
If you are in Steamboat you need to visit

We visited the Gardens with a group and just had to return several days later alone early in the morning for a peaceful time. The gardens have varied planting beds and numerous opportunities for inspiration for home gardens. Light on formal gardens, which is good, and plentiful nooks that display plantings that would be ideal for a home garden. The plants are well marked so you do not have to wonder what you are looking at and the staff, particularly Sonia Franzel, are helpful and informative. This is a must see if you love gardens. Best of all it is a free visit, just contributions appreciated.

Lovely way to spend an hour or two! Individual gardens spotlight various themes such as a fairy garden or all purple garden. A friendly worker pointed out an I sorry nest. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

This beautiful and compact botanical garden is a splendid oasis in Steamboat. Located on the Yampa River, it has running water features throughout, a clever use of space and trail to make it seem much larger, quiet spaces where one can find solitude, and open areas where kids can run. The quality and variety of the plantings is impressive, with desert gardens, rock gardens, gardens for germinators, etc. The tulips were blooming at our visit, and the variety of blooms was stunning! Oh, and it's free! And uncrowded! Lots of benches to sit on. Lovely statuary throughout. This garden is a labor of love, and wonderful reflection on the Steamboat community.

Two adults spent about three hours at this botanical park on a hot July afternoon. It was great. Beautiful gardens with many/most of the plants labeled. Lots of kids there with parents.
Wonderfully laid out. About half of the park has shade so come prepared if the day is hot like on our visit. Restrooms and water are available but no food.
Note the park is located about 100 yards from the soccer field parking lot down a gravel path. There are signs.
Well worth visiting. No dogs are allowed :(
Went back on a Sunday for their free tour. We were the only ones with the guide who was one of the Botanic Park founders. What a delightful tour! So much information and we even got to see the resident osprey nest with mama tending the chicks.

Discovered this gem while walking near our hotel. It is well worth the visit and larger than expected. A lot of plants and a beautiful small lake to walk around.

Was ok. It’s free so nice little walk around. I’d imagine it would be a lot prettier in the summer months!

My wife and I stopped for a (too short) visit in Steamboat last weekend. I had read about the botanic park online so visiting this was one of are priorities. We oohed and aahed our way through the lower park, then walked up to the top of the park to use the restrooms. Following this we had the great fortune to run into Jeff Morehead who was out tending his garden. What a great guy! He spent quite a bit of time talking to us about his plantings, showed us photos of how the land looked before the park was started, introduced us to his cat, and talked to us some more about how he developed Jeff's Garden, where/how he gets his plantings, and much more.
Visiting with Jeff was one of the highlights of our 3-week trip through Colorado and Wyoming. Keep up the great work, Jeff! If we get back to Steamboat again, we plan to spend even more time in the garden, and hope to chat with you again.

A variety of gardens can be found here in this one garden facility. It appears that each garden was personally donated with love. And it’s free, and although donations are accepted they aren’t solicited.
The place is well kept and offers some shady places and numerous benches to sit and view or meditate.

Rode our bikes along the river and stopped to take a look. Nice gardens with some great picnic spots if wanted

If you like flowers, this free walk through several different types of gardens is wonderful. Easy walking paths. Take your camera!

We got to the park by riding electric bikes. Upon arrival to the botanic park, the flowers and birds were beautiful. There are staff and volunteers at the park that share their knowledge and are eager help you get the most from your visit.

We were walking "up the hill" from town on The Trail and saw this place. So great! We loved walking around and through the different gardens, all of native plants. And it is FREE. While the acreage is modest, it is so well organized that it feels to be much more. We would recommend it absolutely.

I love going here when they offer free musical entertainment. Its a lovely place you can reach by bicycle if you like. The scenery is not only relaxing and quiet, but the occasional music venue is entertaining. Something nice to do once and a while.

This all-volunteer community garden has everything from rock gardens to flowers. Exquisite details by Steamboat’s master gardeners. Free entry!
Patty

Let’s be clear, it’s a bunch of plants, trees and flowers, very nicely done in a beautiful setting. It’s a very serene place where you can spend an hour or two.

I enjoyed walking around the botanic park and checking out the signs on all the plants. It was also nice that they have a lot of benches and a map of the park. The flowers were okay, nothing like the one in Denver, but much better than not having a relaxing area like this in town.

My husband and I biked the Yampa river trail and threw in this park as a stop for that day. It is small, but pretty and relaxing.

We didn't tell our kids where we were going, because they would have refused to go to a garden. We just told them we were going on a hike. They had a number of gardens which my wife loved. The staff was incredible, especially considering this is a free activity. The gave us a tour, let the kids use binoculars to look at the Osprey next and even showed them berries that were safe to eat.

A bit hidden off the beaten track but a wonderful garden Divided by color or soil or season. A must see in Steamboat in the Spring, Summer or Fall. Its free but they do take donations

Both Fish Creek Falls and Yampa River Botanic Gardens are must-sees in Steamboat. Beautiful in different ways, but well-worth your time.

The park is hidden at the back of a neighborhood and baseball/soccer field. We couldn't believe this place was free. So many sections and beautiful plants. Make sure to grab a map at the entrance. We spent a good 3 hours here. During the summer there are lunch time concerts (12-1:30) in the middle of the park. Go early if you want a spot in the shade. The kids had a blast taking pictures of all the flowers and playing in the kid area towards the front. Definitely must go see.

Since I'm a master gardener, I always like visiting botanic gardens. This is a small community supported botanic garden that is really lovely. Each garden is well maintained and marked. Two ponds in the center provide some picnic areas. It only takes about half an hour to walk through the gardens, but it is worth the time.

We went there this morning. When we checked in to our condo a couple of days ago we asked about hikes and mentioned liking to see wildflowers. The person suggested that we visit the gardens. So we had a little time to kill and walked to the gardens. It was a nice little garden. I think we were a little early in the season for a lot of the flowers. My favorite part was the rock garden with a lot of pretty ground cover.

My family and I love the great outdoors. This garden is not that big. But, what it lacks in size, it makes up for in beauty, peace, and solitude, when we were there. Be sure you take bug repellent, there is quite a few mosquitos due to the proximity to the Yampa river. Matter of fact, you can ride your bikes here. There is bike racks next to the bike trail.

Yampa river botanic park is a Beautiful place, small but clean and very nice. Autumn view was amazing.

An extraordinary botanic garden for such a small town. During the summer on Thursdays...bring a lunch and enjoy Music on the Green there. Fabulous artists perform. Take a stroll through all the gardens...the brillant colors change almost on a daily basis. And don't miss Jeff's garden hidden in the far back of the park. Wow! Just WOW!!!

This is a beautiful area, prepared by volunteers and donations, with a tremendous variety of native and other plants. Beautiful walk, quiet area, nice and relaxing.

A beautiful walk enjoying different areas of plants. Spent the afternoon walking around area, would love to come back and visit in the Spring and Summer months. That is the great time about Gardens they are always changing.

My niece had her wedding at the Yampa River Botanic Park and it was just magical. While it was a bit difficult to get to for my elderly parents, for the rest of the family, it was no issue.

Wow! I'm happy I made this unplanned, free, stop along the bike route path.
Peaceful, serene, beautiful, relaxing are some adjectives to describe the park. There are benches throughout where you can sit. This is a great place for meditation! I spent about 1.5 hours strolling and enjoying.

What a beautiful place to stroll around and relax. The flowers were well maintained and organized well. There were so many different places to look. One of the volunteers even explained some of the history to us. Donation is the way to go as everyone can choose what they feel is appropriate.

The local SBS folks have done a beautiful job creating this botanical garden. It was peaceful and quiet and th flowers, trees and scrub were gorgeous.

What a lovely spot. Beautiful flowers, interesting landscapes. Nice walk along the river. A worthwhile experience.

It is a great place to stop and relax as you hike the Yampa River Trail. The plants and flowers are beautiful and all are labeled.

My husband and I took a bike trip and happened upon this beautiful Park! Such gorgeous flowers and the design of the park was lovely. You could tell that great passion goes into taking care of this treasure

Even though it wasn't prime time, it was still very enjoyable seeing the imaginative gardens built from a former pasture.

A lot of yoga choices in Steamboat. This is one of the best! Wide open, clean, and yoga exercises for all. Views are beautiful and calming.

Which botanic garden is extremely well maintained the layout is terrific it's a very excellent place to be outdoors it does get warm in the hot summer sun but there are shady walks with puns Japanese garden meditation and places to sit and read good books
Good place to see what plants would survive in an area like this

A trip to Steamboat Springs would not be complete w/o visiting this beautiful park. Free admission. Open dawn to dusk. Many fun activities like Yoga on the lawn and lunchtime concerts. If you have elderly or are in a wheelchair, call ahead of time and they will arrange a golf cart tour for you. The park is outstanding!

As an enthusiastic gardener, this was a lovely surprise. What a lovely place - I am glad we got to see it.

We came cross these gardens by accident whilst walking along the river. But what a pleasure! The layout provided an ideal way to navigate the various planting. For us, as strangers to the region, it was an interesting introduction to the various native and other plants that thrive in Steamboat. Definitely worth a visit

The Botanic Park not only offers perfect mountain gardens, but lots of activities such as yoga in the park, strings concerts, and more.

Worth walking around, really well done gardens. A bit of an oasis. You need to walk across the soccer field to find it.

The Yampa River Botanical Park is near the trail along the Yampa River, close to the city center. Twenty -five years ago it was a field. Now it has berms, pathways, a pond, a venue for outdoor performance and yoga, a whimsical garden for chidren, a crevice garden, and many native plantings and trees. In June it was in full bloom. It is also a habitat for birds. Many of the garden areas are dedicated to the memory of a loved one. A row of cottonwood trees was planted by schoolchildren. Definitely a place to enjoy and learn about the Rocky Mountain flora.

This has become not just a must-see in Steamboat, but a destination! We drove from Granby for the day just to see the gardens. It was great to see Jeff Morehead again; he has one of the largest gardens in the park, and was the first volunteer when they opened. All of the gardens there are well maintained and full of bees, butterflies and other wildlife. The varieties of flora are vast, and every individual's garden is unique, most with some sort of theme, like color, rose or fairy garden. The pond in the center is a great place to bring a picnic. Restrooms are clean and accessible.

We'd rate this a 5. Brad was our guide, former science teacher and very knowledgeable about the park. We also got to meet Jeff, of Jeff's garden on the site map. The wealth of knowledge that was imparted was so worth our time. What an awesome place to spend an hour and a half. What a beautiful, community park! This park runs on donations and there are a few community/school and partnership programs run here.

This little garden is lovely. Very walkable and each plant and tree is meticulously labeled. We thoroughly enjoyed our time.

The Park is open from May 1st - October 31st. It
is a bit tucked away from the Emerald Park and the
Soccer Field. So if you make it to the lot: look
to left. There are parking spots just for the Botanical
Gardens. It is a magical place.

This an extremely well maintained park in the middle of Steamboat. Perfect for a family visit. The volunteers take such good care of all the gardens and areas of the park and have great pride in he work they do. It's worth a visit if you are visiting Steamboat Springs!! If you have small children, the paths are packed rock so not great for a stroller, also no dogs allowed in this park.

I really enjoyed visiting these botanical gardens. I was really amazed at the variety of plants and the beauty of the setting. There were several water features and a little pond which provided an amazing backdrop for the plants and flowers. The location is extremely peaceful, with benches tucked away and in full sight. The flowers attracted lots of butterflies and they were lots of birds around. I was amazed to find out that there was no entry fee. This location is also adjacent to a walking trail along the river, so it provides a great place to get some exercise. I highly recommend a visit to this peaceful haven.

If you like flowers or gardens at all, the Yampa River Botanic Park is a must-see stop in Steamboat. The gardens are beautiful and many are dedicated to loved ones who have passed. If you are lucky, you will get to meet Jeff, who lives in one of the trailer homes adjacent to the Garden and maintains a beautiful garden in the Park just behind his home.

The garden is awesome! Don"t worry about parking a parking fairy on a bike will find a parking spot for you. You walk a short walk from the lot to the gardens. The gardens are worth it spent about two hours. Lots of trails and places to relax. Lots of mosquito's so come prepared. I hung out at the Budist reflection pool and played Budist Monk chant on my phone while contemplating the universe. Later I laid under a lodgepole pine and took a nap. The weeping birch is really cool. Something weird happen when I was sitting at the pond. I got light headed and started to sneeze. When people talked to me sounded like Charlie Brown. I then felt like I was underwater. Not sure what's growing near the pond but I was out of it for about 30 minutes. All and all great experience.

This was a 20 minutes walk to see everything, but simply gorgeous!! Worth taking an afternoon to observe the beauty!

A great little spot to relax in Steamboat. We’ve visited in the spring and fall and the gardens are well maintained. It never seems to crowded and there are a variety of paths/sitting areas to enjoy. Parking lot and bike trail are both very convenient. Definitely worth a stop!

Learn about some of the native vegetation. Take a book and read in a restful spot! Close to the bike trail and a nice spot to take a break!

Went here with my family and we all enjoyed walking around and seeing all the pretty gardens. We ended up spending quite a bit more time then I had expected to. I could see going there often just to sit and enjoy the view if we lived local. It was really lovely and a great place to snap a few photos during our family trip.

A quiet restbit filled with botanical treats. It is a good place for a stroll before sunday brunch or after lunch. Just minutes away from town, a level and flat walk for young and old.

This was a nice after dinner walk . Lots of plants of all kinds and very private. The mosquitoes were bad so go prepared!

So, we were walking the core trail and decided to stop to use the restroom...leading to a walk around the gardens. It’s just gorgeous this time of year. Very well maintained, worth the relaxing trip to get there.

Unusual range of high range, low water plants. Delicately presented but remarkably durable and beautiful.

Visited in mid September and the gardens and blooms were amazing. I wasn't expecting much in the way of blooms as fall was already here, but the gardens were full of blooms and very impressive and beautiful. Easy walk and good tree and plant identifications.

This is right on the river. Beautiful walk right in downtown. A great stroll. Stunning little gardens within. A beautiful pond. Spacious. Great for kids too... make them a scavenger hunt. Lots of options. Take a picnic and sit in the gazebo or shade of the trees... A ten minute walk or 3 minute bike ride. Also, has yoga classes a few days a week... can't beat that locale for yoga. Free!

My husband and I visited in Aug. 2019 and it is beautiful. There is no admission, and there are several areas to see. I highly recommend visiting here.

For those that love flowers, plants and gardening, don’t miss this site. A vast Assortment of flowers and plants arranged in unique individual displays. Came awY with several ideas for our home garden.

Beautiful surroundings and back toi nature scene. Nice toi just sit and contemplate the day. You are in the mountains, but the late fall flowers are spectacular

While this park might not be huge or spectacular, we enjoyed or visit very much. Plan about 20-40 minutes for your visit. - No entrance fee -

We spent a delightful afternoon strolling around this gorgeous botanical garden. It is calming and inspiring.

I always enjoy local botanical gardens when I travel. This one definitely offers the serenity that a couple locals mentioned when I expressed interest.

A hike from a local motel to this place in a mile and over 40 gardens plus the osprey nest! Beautiful! How many plants to you recognize? A definite must see!

This is a lovely place to spend an hour or so wandering about. My husband was impressed with the design and layout of the garden. There were plenty of flowers in bloom, there was a fairy garden, some interesting sculptures and shaded areas to provide relief from the heat. We enjoyed our visit.

It was so very peaceful and beautiful. We loved the little hidden trails off the main walk way. Plus chilling in the green grass and relaxing. Very peaceful. Very well taken care of and it is no cost to the public. Not a lot of tourist either so we felt comfortable could easily social distance.

Right in the middle of town, the Botanic Park is a refreshing spot to wander. It is level -- which is a nice break from much of the rest of your Steamboat experience. The plantings are well described and a great place for photographers

Beautiful variety of plants and flowers. So many seating areas and paths. Will definitely be back during another visit to Steamboat.

By far, the most beautiful and interesting botanical gardens I have been to. We were able to join in on a tour and learn about the beginnings of the flat piece of ground and how it evolved into what it is today.

Beautiful park with a lot of flowers blooming at their peak when we were there. The park is free, so when a storm chased us out, we didn't feel cheated out of an entrance fee. We quickly went through the areas, but could have stayed much longer if the rain had held off.

A must see! In the summer they offer yoga on their lush green grass several times a week. A beautiful way to start your day. It's on the bike path too so if you are riding by be sure to check it out, it never disappoints.

Delightfully pleasant walk through well tended gardens and reflecting pools. Pleasant way to spend our early morning in steamboat springs!

Amazing and beautiful!!! Everything is at full bloom in August.
Peaceful and tranquil...Nice getaway from the crowds.

We visited this park at the beginning of August and it still looked nice. There is an amazing amount of flora here and it is obvious that the volunteers really care. I actually went twice, once alone and once with my wife. My first visit was in the early afternoon and it was very hot (90+). Our second visit was in the morning and much more pleasant (around 75). My only complaint was that we didn't get to see the Osprey.

I didn’t expect much out of this garden and was I surprised. It was beautiful and so well maintained. We visited at a perfect time to see so much in bloom. If you happen to visit Steamboat Springs during the summer, don’t miss it.

This free park is located right along the Yampa trail. A definite must-see. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Watching the humming birds is really fun.

This place is so beautiful! Great, no cost way to spend quality family time. There were tons of opportunities to take family and floral pictures. I loved the different sections of the garden and all the different walkways. Such an amazing opportunity to spend time together. Bring your bugspray; the mosquitoes are bad!

This park is amazing! Still absolutely beautiful in mid Sep. It is well maintained. If I had not had so few days in Steamboat, I would have loved to have walked through again. The butterfly garden and adjacent gardens were my favorite. There is something for everyone. Beautiful flowers, succulents, herbs, aspens, reflection ponds, benches to sit, a small picnic area. I spent about two hours viewing and another 30 minutes sitting in contemplation.

This is a lovely garden that emphasizes horticultural plantings for the most part but an excellent place to discover plants you'd like to have in your own yard. There are also native plantings and herb plantings, and a nice little pond. Great afternoon stroll and very informative. Great color!

The wife and I visited this past Wednesday around 4 PM. The Park was pretty quiet and there might have been only another 12 or 15 people in the whole place. It was a nice relaxing stroll. The main walkways were sidewalks, but you can walk through some of the planting areas on flagstone paths; watch you footing.
Beautifully maintained, excellent variety of plants and trees, and I really appreciated that most were labeled as to the species. It appeared that many of the planting areas were maintained by groups of people and my hat's off to them for their dedication. We spent about an hour here, but after talking to one of the groundskeepers, I got the impression that during busy times of the year, the park can get pretty busy and crowded.
Free parking is available in the soccer field lot about 200 yards north of the park entrance.

We parked by the entrance to the Botanic Garden and walked all around the garden on the gravel paths. There were all kinds of plants and trees and a small pond. There was even a friendly black cat. I asked one of the volunteers if they have to replant everything every year in the spring. She told us that the snow insulates the plants in the winter and they survive the cold.

Beautiful space right in town, easy access and interesting walking paths and shady benches. Gardens are divided with different themes.

This is a very nice, very well maintained Botanic park. It is right in town and easy to get to. The walking paths are clear and the flowers and vegetation are beautiful. We were there in early fall so we had flowers and the changing colors of the leaves. I would recommend a visit here.

The city of Steamboat Springs has done a marvelous job in this park, absoutley beautiful - we saw the osprey in its nest by the water

This botanic park is off the main road a few blocks but you would never know it was there. Kinda hard to find, and hidden back beyond a public recreation area with playing fields. Also accessible from the Yampa River Core Trail along the River. I wish we had found it sooner since it became the highlight of our stay in Steamboat Springs. The gardens are broken down into sections and there is a map at the entrance. Make sure you pick up the map. This is a self guided tour and LOTS of walking. Most trails are wheel chair accessible but not all. You can easily spend several hours walking thru all sections. There are many benches to sit and rest or just enjoy the beauty of nature. Altho this attraction is free, donations are welcome and needed to maintain the gardens. We found that quite a few plants were not labeled and of course they were they ones we wanted to know more about. We left for lunch and then came back to see the rest of the park. Great ideas for groupings, rock walls, planters, ponds, etc.

While riding bikes we decided to stop here for a look around. What a lovely surprise! The gardens were gorgeous and well maintained. It was not crowded and we could just enjoy a quiet stroll with no pressure to 'see it all' since it was free to get in. Highly recommend.

We are so glad we took the time to find this little gem. Absolutely beautiful! So many flowers and each one is labeled. Caretakers of this property are always happy to help with questions and stopping to take a group shot for us. We expected this to be a quick stop, but we ended up really leaning in and taking our time to enjoy the quiet beauty this park had to offer. Loved our time here.

The gardens were beautiful and well maintained. It is amazing that there is no admission charge. The garden borders on the bike/walking trail along the Yampa River and can be accessed from the trail.

I'm usually not much of a fan of botanical gardens but this place is beautifully situated and one can see the maintenance behind it.
The stuff must really love their job. In the middle of the garden you get to see a little pond they make this place very peaceful.
Enjoyed being here (0h, and it's free, as in no fee).

Not much blooming in mid-October, but a calm, serene, level, pretty walk in a sunny afternoon. Enjoyed the labels for plants (even though mist were done for the season) and well-placed benches for viewing.

Wasn’t sure what to expect but was impressed by this park. Lots of time, planning, and hard work by various groups and individuals in creating this beautiful botanical garden. Ponds, paths, landscape features, creatures and plants, plants, plants! Ran into Jeff, who was friendly and informative—he has created a stunning garden toward the back of the park. My husband and I talked to him extensively and now have many ideas to add to and improve our rock garden at home, especially crevice gardening. Great way to spend a relaxing afternoon...and it’s free.

A little bit hard to find. Street signs led to a large parking lot and athletic field. I drove the circumference of the lot and found signs and a path that led down the side of the field and to the gardens.
The park is free and run by volunteers, sponsors and donors. It is just beautiful and so colorful. Except for the path along the athletic field there are no straight lines. All the path curve and circle and add to the effect. The gardens are divided into “Neighborhoods” and a free guide makes these easy to navigate. There are ponds and places to sit and enjoy.
In the corner opposite the entry there is a small house with restrooms and educational materials.
In addition to the flowers the park was buzzing with birds and pollinating moths and bees. There is an Osprey nest near the river.

Don’t miss this little gem if you want to learn about local flora. The grounds are well kept with many places to stroll, sit and view. Look for the hidden paths through the trees and flowers. The 1-acre pond is a highlight with sculptures, benches and plenty of shade. Don’t forget to pack a picnic and water, as there aren’t any on-site food facilities. The hummingbirds and moths (that looked like hummingbirds) were plentiful. If you arrive by bike (a hike and bike trail runs along the riverside of the property) please park or walk it with you. No riding inside.

Small but well done gardens. Only complaint is dogs weren't allowed! Not crowded and makes for a nice walk. Free admission and free parking.

Morning visit. Area is quiet, multiple trials through the garden areas. Beautiful variety of plants, trees and flowers. The right size for a short or longer visit. Many plants and trees had identifying titles. Fenced to keep wildlife out. Sun and shaded areas. Nice for quiet, peaceful walks and enjoyment.

Well worth our time. It was extremely well taken care of. It was one of the most beautiful gardens we have ever been to

What a lovely way to spend a couple hours! The botanical park is free and we were there at the beginning of June. So much was in bloom and the park smelled amazing.
If you are a gardener, plant person or just nature lover, I would highly recommend taking a pit stop here.
It is also very kid friendly!
No dogs are allowed so just an fyi on that.

Aside from being beautiful, the various little areas which are "adopted" by local groups are carefully tended. A good blend with areas often looking natural rather than planned. Watch out for mosquitoes! (suggest bug-off type wipes)

Nice area with park, trails and kids play area. On weekends and afternoons, full of kids. Little difficult to find, but worth the trek.

First place we went to because it was FREE. We went late afternoon in July. I wished we had gone early morning. Pretty flowers and lots of photo opportunities.

I walked through the park this week and it was such a beautiful day! The weather was perfect and the garden was gorgeous! A ton of work has been put into creating this garden and to maintain it. It is free so it should not be missed!

We happened upon this place by chance. You drive thru a little neighborhood to get to it.
The setup is perfect. Plenty of park benches should you want to sit and enjoy. All of the plants are identified by plaques. Very well maintained. Great side step during your vacay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the botanical gardens. Logan was our tour guide, we learned several interesting things while touring the beautiful gardens. We even saw a wedding there, during our visit. We highly recommend, if you have some extra time in Steamboat.

It's a small place, but it's also free. If one enjoys plants and flowers, this is a definite must see.

Taking the Yampa Core Trail you can access this garden, or come directly to it. This garden is beautiful, with colourful plants, some from other countries. The best is that this garden is free for viewing for all to enjoy, and children even found it interesting.

On the walk up we were a bit skeptical since it didn't appear to be much. Once we entered we realized we were definitely wrong; the garden was huge! They have maps to do a self guided tour through the gardens and different sections too. We spent probably an hour walking around looking at all the beautiful flowers and plants. It rained a little before we went, so there was nobody there. Absolutely beautiful!

I was walking the bike trail and happened upon one of the entries to this gem! I wondered around the paths and sat upon a sunny bench and just thoroughly enjoyed the peace and beauty - so much so that I went and got my friend and went back. Almost all plants and trees are noted on little tags placed at the base, the fairy garden was adorable. Plenty of seating areas for people who want to just absorb the sunshine (or shade) and let nature have a calming effect. The grassy area is a great little place to play with children or do yoga or picnic. The park is free so don't forget to leave a little donation so this perfect little place can continue to exist for other visitors.

This was a great place to just kick back relax and enjoy nature. Recommend going in the late spring.

You can tell there is a great deal of work put into keeping the location beautiful. Our visit was shortly after a major wind storm and their staff was hard at work cleaning everything up.

The Botanic Park is such a gem. We love going there and wandering around for a couple hours. Morning and late afternoon are our favorites as the sun is very intense. There are gardens of all types with fun trails that meander throughout making it fun for all ages.

In the heat of summer, try an early morning or early evening in this lovely and surprising botanical garden. Gorgeous pond that reminds one of Giverny..... but in Colorado! Hidden paths and surprises! J.Jackson

I toured this garden with my husband and 3 year old. It was a beautiful escape from the town life. The free admission was also a perk. My little boy loved taking pictures of all the pretty flowers and landscape. I would have loved to visit it alone and taken a book, finding refuge on one of the many benches places throughout the park.

Nice to stroll and view the flowers. It's nicely kept with a wide array of flowers. Very pretty inside.

We were on a bike ride and noticed this park rather hidden behind a black fence with a gate that said visitors welcome.
So much to explore and it was all free with donations accepted.
The flowers and landscaping were beautiful along with a pond. Little trails to walk around the park. There was a gazebo in which concerts can be enjoyed.
There was a painting club when we visited. Fun to look at the artists in action.
Public bathrooms also very accessible.

On each of our two trips to Steamboat Springs we have made it a point to visit the park. It is gorgeous, with a nice variety of plants and sculptures surrounding a peaceful pond. On our recent visit on a September morning we were the only ones there and it was a peaceful way to start the day--and take some nice photos.

This is a hidden gem that I would strongly recommend a visit to in the spring or summer. Unfortunately we visited in October after several heavy frosts and most of the flowers were dead or dormant. I hope we get to go back someday in a better season. It is a great place off the beaten path, use GPS, nice walks, gardens water features.

Enjoyed this botanic park. Need to be there when things are blooming, duh. Great place to just walk around or sit and contemplate.

A tranquil lovely place to stroll and see the bountiful specimens of flora and Cain in Steamboat Springs. Quiet nooks and trails wind around personal and delicately designed specialty gardens. Benches placed strategically to be enjoyed with conversation, silence or a good book. Convenient and easy to reach, easy to enjoy. Donations accepted as opposed to a fee.

Stopped here on our bike ride for a quick break, was pleasantly surprised absolutely beautiful grounds stunning flowers and gardens. Super peacefully quiet even right off the road. Best place for a picnic while you’re enjoying the Core trail on the Yampa River!

What a treat, go for a bike ride and stop to enjoy or walk the broad trails and see native Coloradan plants and trees identified. Meditation spots, broad lawns, ponds, rocks, and 'secret' trails tucked in among the trees. Beautiful and well maintained.

The Yampa River Botanic Park is laid out so nicely and this time of year the Park is filled with so many different kinds of flowers. Yoga is offered on the green every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The cost is your donation.

Really nice gardens. We enjoyed our walk here, can imagine how beautiful it would be later in the season. Well worth the visit!

My wife and i did a walking tour through the Yama River Botanic Park. We were underwhelmed. Perhaps that isn't fair because we have been to some beautiful gardens. And, it was free so I will give them a pass. They probably rely on donations.

Enjoyed time taking the guided tour with my family. The paths are clearly marked, and there is information about the plants everywhere. Very peaceful pond in the middle as well. Bring your bug spray as the mosquitoes are thick. They have a children’s area, but be aware it’s not a playground.

What a beautiful garden. The parking was easy, the volunteer/staff were all so helpful and friendly. A wonderful place to walk around, sit and read, get some ideas of things to plant in Colorado area homes.

I can see why this is the number one place to spend time in Steamboat Springs. It was very nice to wander the gardens and experience all the little spaces which have been created. Well worth a visit if you have an hour. The highlight for me was having the Osprey parents flying around to catch food for the chicks in the nest.

Very pretty garden that seems huge, but it perfectly proportioned. Loved the hummingbird garden and watched them duke it out and chase each other around. Did not get to see the Sphinx moth. Takes about a hour - well worth it and easy to get to if you’re riding the yampa core bike trail.

Small, but diverse, with flowers year-round as well as water features and sculptures. Opens onto the Yampa river.

We really enjoyed this peaceful garden. The map is helpful but it’s fun to just explore and try out different paths. Our kids loved the Children’s Garden and the Fairy garden.

We can across this Botanic Park whilst walking along the river trail, it was a great surprise & very interesting.
My family and I were walking the Yampa River trail and came across this wonderful little botanical gardens. What a great surprise with fauna from all over Colorado with great descriptions of the fauna and wildlife in the area. The garden is free with a donation box that is very low key.
Really worth a stop if you are in the area.
