Hongcun - Nanhu

Nanhu Lake is located at the southern end of Hongcun. It was built in the Ming Dynasty. The open water surface is arched. The painted bridge across the lake is where Li Mubai walked with his horse in the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".
The morning mist and summer lotus add to the charm of Nanhu Lake, and the photos taken here are very beautiful.
There is Nanhu Academy on the north bank of Nanhu Lake. In the Qing Dynasty, six private schools on the lakeside were merged into one academy, so the academy looks very spacious.

Nanhu Park has nice scenery, especially in spring, but it was crowded during the May Day holiday, so you need to frame your photos. There is also a playground in the whole park, and you can bargain and sit a few more times, which is quite worth it.

It’s also nice to have many people camping with tents. The lake surface in the spring is still extremely beautiful under the sun!

There is also a blind date corner, which is very big! Unexpectedly lively! I hope everyone can say goodbye to being single, hahaha. But a few people even posted photos. If I knew about it, I would probably be very depressed!

Nanhu Lake is located at the south of Hongcun Village. It was built in the Dingwei Year of the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty (1607). From the Yongle Period to the Wanli Period, Hongcun Village had buildings with different heights and population. The Moon Pond was not enough to store water. In the Dingwei Year of the Wanli Period, the hundred mu of fertile land in the south of the village was dug several feet deep, and stone banks were built around it. The South Lake was built in the style of the West Lake Pinghu Qiuyue. The lake is in the shape of a big bow. The lake embankment is divided into upper and lower layers. The upper layer is 4 meters wide. The green lotus sways on the lake surface and the ducks play in the water, which is a different scene. The entire lake surface reflects the floating light, the water and the sky are the same color, the distant peaks and the nearby houses fall into the lake, and the interaction of the shade of the trees, the depth of the water and the sunlight, the light and dark are coordinated, the movement and stillness are appropriate, and it looks deep, elegant, fresh and bright. Nanhu Lake has been renovated three times in history. In 1986, the middle embankment was rebuilt and the "Painting Bridge" was built for boating from east to west, which is very interesting.

Originally, there were towering ancient trees, lush and green, with green vines winding around the trunks, birds singing, and weeping willows with graceful branches and leaves, like people dressing in front of the mirror. Many poets and painters in ancient and modern times have written many poems and paintings after visiting Nanhu Lake.

"Boundless drizzle wets the spring mud, and birds are heard singing through the fog; willow trees are frowning and peach trees are smiling, while chanting as they pass the painted bridge to the west." The great praise of the poem adds to the atmosphere of the blending of Nanhu scenery and scenes.

The water surface outside Hongcun was built in the Dingwei year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1607). From the Yongle period to the Wanli period, Hongcun had buildings in succession, with different heights and a large population. The water storage of Yuetang was not enough, so in the Dingwei year of the Wanli period, a hundred acres of fertile land in the south of the village was dug several feet deep, and stone banks were built on all sides to imitate the style of the West Lake Pinghu Qiuyue, and the South Lake was built.

Nanhu Lake is the first scenic spot after entering Hongcun. It is also the most open scenic spot in Hongcun and the most spiritual scenic spot. On rainy days, the mountains are in front of the water and the humidity is surrounded. The Hongcun is particularly delicate. I want to sit in the pavilion and stay there for a day. There is a very arched arch bridge. There are too many people in the peak tourist season. When there are fewer people, it is very suitable for couples to play, just like the feeling of borrowing an umbrella when traveling on the lake in the Legend of the White Snake. The scenic spot is included in the package. Because Hongcun and Huangshan are a one-day tour route, there will be more people in the holiday tour group.

By Star Ocean |

Hongcun is not big. While strolling around, you will arrive at Nanhu Lake at the entrance of the village, which is the "belly" of the ox-shaped village. A stone arch bridge across the lake divides Nanhu Lake into two lakes, east and west, and also connects the village with the outside world.

Hongcun is blessed by water, and it stands out among the ancient villages of all sizes in Huizhou, thanks to Yuezhao and Nanhu Lake. As the sun rises during the day, the green mountains, blue sky, white clouds, and black and white buildings on the opposite bank are reflected in the clear lake. Facing the scenery in front of me, only eight words popped into my mind at this moment: picturesque scenery. The lakeside is full of students sketching and painting. In such a beautiful place, there must be more room for creative inspiration.

Nanhu Lake, "Boundless drizzle wets the spring mud, and birds are heard through the fog. Willows are smiling, and I chant to the west of the painted bridge." This place is called "Niu Du". There is a stone arch bridge on the lake, named Huaqiao, which is built in imitation of the autumn moon on Pinghu Lake in Hangzhou. At a glance, the horse-head wall with blue bricks and black tiles is reflected in the clear lake water, as if you are in a paradise. On the edge of Nanhu Lake, there are people sketching. Strolling along the bank of Nanhu Lake in the drizzle, the white walls, green willows, and red lanterns are very pleasant.

The tickets are really expensive, there are only two ponds... The Hui-style buildings don't look good... There are quite a lot of people... It is very commercialized and the prices are very expensive... I stayed there for one night, it's really not worth it...

Hongcun is still very beautiful overall, and the photos taken at Nanhu Lake have a feeling of ink painting. The most regrettable thing is that the water is muddy due to the construction work upstream.

Nanhu Lake is located at the entrance of Hongcun Village. It was built in the Dingwei Year of Wanli Period of Ming Dynasty (1607), and has a history of more than 400 years. It is one of the two cow stomachs of the Feng Shui architecture in the ancient village of Hongcun. From the Yongle period to the Wanli period, Hongcun Village had buildings with different heights and populations. The water storage of Yuetang was not enough. In the last year of the Dingwei Year of the Wanli Period, the hundred acres of fertile land in the south of the village were dug several feet deep, and stone banks were built around it. The South Lake was built in the style of Pinghu Qiuyue in West Lake. The lake is in the shape of a big bow, and the lake embankment is divided into upper and lower layers. The upper layer is 4 meters wide. Originally, the ancient trees were towering and lush, with green vines winding around the trunks, birds singing, and weeping willows with graceful branches and leaves, like a girl combing her hair in front of the mirror, spreading her hair on the lake. The green lotus swaying on the lake and the ducks playing in the water are another scene. The entire lake reflects the floating light, the water and the sky are one color, the distant peaks and nearby houses fall into the lake, and the interaction of the shade of the trees, the depth of the water and the sunlight, the coordination of light and dark, the appropriate movement and stillness, appears deep, elegant, quiet, fresh and bright. Nanhu has been renovated three times in history. In 1986, the middle embankment was rebuilt and the "Painting Bridge" was built for boating from east to west, which is endless fun.

I believe that during the season when "the lotus leaves are endless and green, and the lotus flowers are red in the sun", Nanhu Lake must be as beautiful as a painting, but I didn't expect that a piece of withered lotus leaves is even more charming!

After the rain, the surface of Nanhu Lake is shrouded in mist, which is beautiful.

The representative of Hongcun, this place is so beautiful. The bridge in the middle is the one where Li Mubai led his horse.

By Stars and Silent Night |

With Yue Marsh inside and Nanhu outside, Hongcun is the place with the most tourists, mainly because these two waterscapes echo with the mountains in the distance. Add to that the blessing of clouds and mist. The white walls and black tiles, the ancient style and charm of Huizhou landscapes are so inadvertently in front of you and remain in your memory.

By Phony Chef Jia |

A pool of clear water in the south of Hongcun Village. The ancients were very smart in choosing the location of the village, with a shelter in front and a back. . . . Haha, but you must live near water, because water not only meets the needs of daily drinking, but also can be used for washing clothes and vegetables and regulating the air. If there is no water, dig a groove to divert water. With water, the village has aura and soul.

By Rise from Fire |

The entire surface of Nanhu Lake reflects the floating light, the water and the sky are one color, there are distant peaks and nearby houses, and the painted bridge in the lake is exactly where Li Mubai, played by Chow Yun-fat, walked with his white horse in the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon".

If you want to take pictures of less crowded scenery in Hongcun, please stay in the inn in the scenic area for one night, get up around 6 o'clock the next day, go to Yuezhao and Nanhu to take pictures, you can take beautiful scenery photos. I got up around 6:30, and when I walked to Nanhu, there were already tour groups entering the village, but I still took a few photos I liked.

Hongcun's representative Hui-style architecture, the high-rise horse-head walls, the clear lotus in the lake, and the rainbow-like arch bridge are like an ink painting that has walked into my heart 😍👍These pictures were taken with my mobile phone, and it really feels like being in an ink painting.

There were many tourists in Hongcun during the National Day holiday. The navigation led to the Nanhu (South Gate) parking lot. However, there were no vacancies in the parking lot entering the village. We had to drive further in to the private restaurant parking lot and finally found an empty space. It cost 30 yuan to park the car. The original price of the ticket was 104 yuan/person. I bought the ticket on the app for 94 yuan/person. The ticket was a real-name system. On the left side of the ticket office door was the self-service ticket machine. You could scan your ID card on the machine to get the ticket. It was very smooth to enter the village. The hotel we booked was at the Chujian Hongcun Impression B&B near Nanhu. The proprietress came out to the village to pick us up. We lived on the second floor. The room was very clean. There was a small tatami to rest and drink tea. There were two beds, a 1.8m double bed and a 1.5m single bed, which was suitable for a family of three. We had lunch and dinner directly in the B&B. The owner cooked his own dishes. We ordered fried eggs with stone fungus, fried meat with wild rice stem, stir-fried wild amaranth, and fried eggs with acanthopanax peel. They were all good. We were not used to eating Wucheng dried tofu, so we don't recommend it. The owner's homemade wine was also quite good, with an average consumption of about 35 yuan per person. It's not far from the hotel to the Yuezhao Lake in the center of the village. You can get there by walking and following the signs.

Nanhu Lake is the belly of the cow-style building in Hongcun. There are many lotus leaves and lotus flowers planted in Nanhu Lake, and the photos taken there are also very beautiful.

By Wandering Mr. Connor. |

In the early morning, the surface of the South Lake sparkles, and the first ray of hot sunlight has not yet penetrated from the east side of the mountain. At this time, the coolness has not yet dissipated, and the breeze is just right. Many travelers have come to the bridge to stroll. We have all been brought back to a place in the past by time. When the sun rises in late summer, the sunlight is still golden. The light gradually covers the houses from the ridge, to the main wall, and then to the wooden door. The reflection of the house solidifies on the water surface, and the occasional ripples on the water surface reflect the light on the wall. The Moon Marsh, which has been quiet all night, is gradually waking up at this moment.

On the stone roads and in the alleys, beautiful and peaceful pictures gradually unfold before our eyes as the sun shines. Perhaps, this is how it has been for centuries. This village, which looks like an ink painting, has inspired many artists. Before eight o'clock, the Nanhu Lake is already full of young painters who come to practice oil painting, sketching, and watercolor painting.

When you step into Hongcun from the tourist center, you will see the famous water source of Hongcun, Nanhu Lake. The white walls, green tiles, horse head walls, brick, wood and stone carvings, and layered courtyards of the Hui-style buildings are all reflected in the green canvas of Nanhu Lake.

After walking aimlessly in the village, I turned back to the South Lake at the entrance of the village. God blesses me. Near dusk, the thick clouds opened a crack and the sun shone down instantly. Seeing the scene in front of me, the ink in my stomach has long been used up. Perhaps only three words can describe it. It is so beautiful. This beautiful scenery in the lake is formed by a ray of sunlight reflected into the water thanks to the good weather. It is said that every holiday, many students from the art department will come here because of the reputation. This "village in the painting" is really worthy of its reputation. It is just like the poem describes - green mountains and green waters lead to poetry, and black tiles and white walls lead to the soul of painting.

After looking around, I think the most beautiful is Nanhu Lake. At first glance, it looks like a natural ink painting, so beautiful!

South Lake was built in the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty (1607). From the Yongle Period to the Wanli Period, Hongcun Village had many buildings with different heights and population. The Moon Pond was not enough to store water, so during the Wanli Period, a hundred mu of fertile land in the south of the village was dug several feet deep, and stone banks were built around it to imitate the style of the West Lake in the autumn moon. The lake was built into a large bow shape.

When I returned to the inn to have breakfast, I heard Chinese music from the opposite side of the South Lake, and saw many women in cheongsam walking along the South Lake to the north bank. Later I learned that they were some aunts from the Ningbo Cheongsam Association.

The cheongsam on the lake is swaying, creating a different kind of scenery. The entire lake reflects the floating light, the water and sky are one color, the distant peaks and nearby houses fall into the lake, and the interaction of the tree shadows, the water depth and the clouds and mist, the light and dark are coordinated, the movement and stillness are appropriate, and it looks deep, elegant, fresh and bright.

Those ancient houses that are still sleeping in the morning mist have not been disturbed by the people who get up early. Their hazy sleeping posture looks like rich ink, lingering in the wind and smoke and cannot be dissolved.

The beauty of Hongcun lies in its two lakes. Water brings life.

By friendtian |

We first came to South Lake, where the buildings on the other side of the lake were reflected on the calm lake. We met a mother and daughter sketching by the lake. After breakfast, we came out again and saw that there were obviously more tourists. We went back to the hotel to rest for a while, and then came to South Lake. It was a completely different scene. The three layers inside and outside the lake were full of students sketching.

By Dream Kite 1968 |

This place is very beautiful. Many art students come here to sketch, and some photography students come here to collect inspiration, which shows how beautiful it is!

By Yu Lei |

There are many people painting on the bank of South Lake just after entering the village, and they have become a beautiful scenery of Hongcun.

By White Space |

When I first saw Nanhu Lake, I was a little disappointed! The water was not very clean and had a lot of impurities, but the photos I took were pretty good because the weather was good, there was no wind, it was very transparent, and the water surface was very calm. Look at the reflection, it's like a mirror, and it can be completely indistinguishable from the real thing when it's reversed. I took a reflection and posted it on WeChat Moments. Many friends were "cheated" by the photo! Nanhu Lake becomes more gentle after dusk. When I woke up the next day, I finally encountered the thing I feared the most, a rainy day! When I opened the door in the morning, the drizzle broke the tranquility of Nanhu Lake and also broke the tranquility of my heart.

By gxp823 |

After entering the scenic area, there is a lotus pond with a wide surface. The houses and small bridges in the distance are reflected in the water. The nearby shore is crowded with tourists and children drawing like weaving nets. There is no place to step at all!

The lotus flowers in Nanhu Lake are in full bloom, and many students from the Academy of Fine Arts are sketching here. Time is peaceful and quiet.

By Maika_Syou |

Nanhu Lake is located in the south of Hongcun. It is built in the style of the West Lake Pinghu Qiuyue. In summer, the green lotus sways on the lake, which is a different scene.

This is also the focus of sketching. When I got closer, I found that the students were working together to complete a long panoramic view of Nanhu Lake. Each student was responsible for a part. It was very interesting.

Although the weather is hot, the sky is clear and bright. The entire lake is reflecting the light, the water and sky are one color, the distant peaks and nearby houses fall into the lake, the shade of the trees, the deep water and the sunlight interact with each other, complementing each other.

By Sugar Soda |

In winter, Nanhu Lake lacks the hustle and bustle of tourists, leaving only tranquility. I found a good-looking place for shooting, which is by the long bridge of Nanhu Lake. One person walks on the bridge, and the other person captures the photo on the shore. You can also shoot continuously and choose the most suitable one. It is particularly effective. Believe me! There are also many buildings on the edge of Nanhu Lake, and you can pose in some martial arts poses and pretend to fight, which can also produce effects. You can intercept the shore on the right, and it feels like a panoramic view swimming in the water. The most satisfying thing is the framing here, which has the artistic conception of people in the painting. You can also interact with your friends. Taking pictures should always be lively and lively, not lifeless. Free your limbs and move! Get up! Come on! Use oblique composition to lengthen the distant view, and the mountains and rivers in the distance are close at hand. I have to say that traveling in the off-season is to book the whole place, and you can see beautiful scenery instead of all people.

[Excerpt from my travel notes: http://www.mafengwo.cn/i/9988290.html]

When I arrived at Hongcun, the first and most intuitive feeling was that most of the beauty of Hongcun lies in its two iconic attractions, Yuezhao and Nanhu. The presence of water adds thousands of styles and atmospheres to the ancient village. The beautiful figures of Hui-style buildings are projected on the lively lake surface, forming a natural Chinese landscape painting.

By Chen Ying |

Walking by the South Lake, it is windier and cooler than other places. Give me a chair and I can sit by the South Lake for a long time.

By Jingen 520 |

As we walked, we arrived at Hongcun’s famous scenic spot - Nanhu Lake. The light was too strong and it was quite noisy in the afternoon, so I decided to get up early the next day to take pictures. Nanhu Lake in the morning is what it should look like, but I still went a little late. If the sun had just risen and the mountains behind were surrounded by clouds and mist, the pictures would definitely look more like a fairyland.

By Bamboo Sauce |

As we walked, we arrived at the South Lake at the entrance of Hongcun. The calm lake reflected the blue sky and white clouds, green trees and white houses, the graceful stone bridge, and the hills in the distance shrouded by mist. It was so beautiful that it looked like a painting. I just wanted to sit quietly by the lake and think about nothing.

By Bai Xiaoyun |

The lotus flowers in July bloom with their beauty.

The art academy students who are sketching also add a unique touch to the scenery.

The cats in the shade of the trees are lying lazily and wantonly. Walking along the South Lake, I feel as relaxed as the cats.

Nanhu Lake is right after entering the parking lot of Hongcun Village. Nanhu Lake is one of the two cow stomachs in the ancient village of Hongcun, which is a Feng Shui building imitating the shape of a cow. The calm lake reflects the green mountains, white clouds, green trees, rows of Hui-style buildings, and the painted bridge in the distance. The picture is so beautiful that I just want to sit quietly by the lake and think about nothing. A scene in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" where Li Mubai, played by Chow Yun-fat, leads his horse across the bridge to the escort agency was filmed here.

By Fingertip Time |

The South Lake is called "stomach" by Hongcun people because it is shaped like a stomach. In summer, there are many lotus flowers.

By Side bangs, white shirt |

Nanhu Lake is the southern end of Hongcun. It was built in the Ming Dynasty. The embankment is divided into upper and lower layers. There are towering ancient trees on the embankment. There are many sketches scattered in every corner. After careful observation, it is really gathered here from all over the country. Although it rained, it did not affect their enthusiasm at all. Look~ the best camera positions are occupied by their large group, which is very depressing.

The South Lake reflects the hills and houses. It is so nice to just sit there and enjoy the breeze. Many students do sketching here, and of course some take photos.

As soon as I entered Hongcun, I was attracted by the beauty of Nanhu Lake. It is really not enough to see it a thousand times and take ten thousand photos. The beauty is different in the morning, noon and evening. The Nanhu Lake in the morning is gently bathed in sunlight, and the Nanhu Lake in the evening is like an ink painting.

The blue sky and white clouds, the water and the sky are one color, and the horse-head walls with green bricks and black tiles are reflected in the lake. It can be called a painting, which attracts many students to sketch here. Even if you just sit by the lake and look at the old house with black tiles and white walls reflected on the lake, you will be immersed in this poetic beauty and forget the hustle and bustle and troubles of life.

The open water surface is arched, and the painted bridge across the lake is where Li Mubai walked with his horse in the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". Nanhu Lake is so beautiful that I almost walked around the periphery of Hongcun and walked along Nanhu Lake for most of the day, from dawn to sunset.

It had just rained and the lake was misty. The lake was as clear as a mirror, and the pink walls and black tiles were reflected in the lake. The whole picture was like an ink painting full of life. I don't know what the small plants in the lake are, but I think they are very cute with small water droplets on them.

There were huge crowds of people, all for this bridge. Because there is only one bridge! The scenery is still very good, but the environment, sanitation and humanities are hard to describe!

Leaving Yuezhao Lake, following the signs at the entrance of the alley, walking through the winding alleys, it is not far to Nanhu Lake. The familiar scenes in other people's travel notes were finally recorded by me personally. Although I have seen them, they are not as moving and surprising as this time, and the beauty is beyond words!

The first thing I saw when I entered Hongcun was the South Lake. Due to the season, the big trees by the lake were already lush and green, seriously blocking my view. It was difficult for me to find a good angle to take pictures of the house across the lake and the bridge on the lake, so I had to give up and go sightseeing in the village first. At noon, the village was full of tourists. I wanted to cross the lake by the small bridge, but I was ruthlessly stopped, saying that the bridge was narrow and two-way traffic was not allowed. . . As expected, the large number of people is a huge factor that ruins the mood of the journey. There are a lot of passers-by A, B, and C wherever you stand, so that when you want to take a pure landscape photo, there are always a bunch of colorful mosaics. . . The bus left Hongcun at 10:30 the next day. We didn't have much time to visit, so we hurried to the South Lake at the entrance of the village, hoping to take a satisfactory photo. Fortunately, God will not disappoint those who work hard. At this point, tourists are concentrated in the village, and there are not many people at the entrance of the village. Not only that, but we were lucky to find a good shooting angle.

There are many students sketching by the lake. You paint landscapes and I take pictures of you in the paintings. I wish you all the best in your studies!

The next morning, Hongcun Nanhu Lake was less noisy and more peaceful!

Entering Hongcun from the South Parking Lot, the first thing that comes into view is the South Lake, the blue sky and white clouds, the Horse Head Wall reflected in the water, and the many students sketching on the shore, which have become part of the scenery!

Nanhu Lake is located at the southern end of Hongcun. It was built in the Ming Dynasty. The open water surface is arched. The morning mist and summer lotus add to the charm of Nanhu Lake. The photos taken here are very beautiful. We got up early to watch the sunrise here. In about an hour, we saw the different colors of Nanhu Lake. It was really wonderful.

In Hongcun, across a bridge, many lotus flowers are planted in summer.

Nanhu Lake is much larger than Yuezhao Lake, and it fully displays the grandeur of Hongcun.

This kind of momentum is very beautiful. It is more like calming the heart and enjoying the beauty of the moment. It fits the description of the countryside in the painting very well.

Along the way, I saw many students sketching. I admired their paintings, and I admired even more that I could walk into the Hongcun in the paintings.

TIPS: As the rainy season approaches, the temperature difference between morning and evening is quite large, so long clothes and long pants are essential, as well as rain boots.
