Once upon a time, the famous saying of Jixi people was "thirteen or fourteen, just throw it out". For example, Hu Xueyan walked out of Jixi and went to Hangzhou through the Huihang Ancient Road, and was given the title of "Red-topped Merchant". Today, the 18-kilometer-long Huihang Ancient Road is no longer a channel for Jixi people to go out for business, but the third famous outdoor hiking route in China after the Silk Road and the Ancient Tea-Horse Road. During the Qingming Festival this year, I walked this ancient road in two and a half days.

I walked through it in 2 times! I walked in from two entrances~ Although it was tiring, the scenery was really good! There were not many people, it was very quiet, and the wind in the mountains was very refreshing.

During the 2019 Spring Festival holiday, I hiked the Huihang Ancient Road. Starting from Jiangnan First Village, I walked to Xiaxuetang and returned along the same route, which was about 15km round trip. After arriving at Huangmaopei Village, the road was much flatter and easier to walk, and the scenery was also more ordinary. The most beautiful part was the Xiaoyao Valley. Next time, I plan to go in the opposite direction, east in and west out, to Lantianao.

During the Qingming Festival, we went back through the Huixing Ancient Road. The first half was the Lantianao and the second half was the Xiaoyao Valley. The road was easy to walk on, and there were few climbs and many downhills, so the overall trip was very relaxing.

I was recommended to Mount Lushan four years ago, but I couldn't make it happen after making several plans. April should be the best time for hiking, but it rains a lot in the south and it's hard to have good weather on weekends. I set out on Friday in late April to Hangzhou, and took a car to Jixi on Saturday, then took a bus to the entrance. After entering the ticket gate from Jixi, there was a continuous uphill staircase, which was very challenging for me who hadn't exercised for a long time. After 2.5 kilometers, there was a gentle dirt road and a car. The whole 18 kilometers took five hours, which was a normal speed. The end of April was not the peak flowering period of rhododendrons, but it was still very beautiful. The mountains and rivers on both sides of the road merged into streams, which were very clear and you could see small fish. There were accommodations, food and water supplies in the scenic area, which were convenient and depended on personal needs; the Xuancheng section came out of a small village, and there was no public transportation after four o'clock. There were local vans, but the charges were really expensive. If you leave on the same day, you must pay attention to the time. It's also good to stay in a small village for one night. It's very quiet after the sun sets. Breathing the air in the mountains and listening to the chirping of insects and birds is also an experience of traveling.

I was at home during the National Day holiday, so I decided to join the tour group. The two-day trip was quite relaxing. We even brought a tent with us, but we ended up setting up the tent on the roof of someone's building. It was freezing cold in the mountains at night. Haha

The truly unique place is the stone road near the first pass of Jiangnan near the Jixi side. Then the several small villages and towns below Jixi are also good. It is good to see rape flowers in spring. You will pass Qingliang Peak along the way, but it is another route.

There weren't many people during the National Day holiday, but the traffic was a little inconvenient, so we decided to charter a car from the school. The hiking experience was still very good. On the first day, we walked from the entrance of Jixi to Lantian'ao. Due to the traffic jam in the morning, we lost a lot of time. It took us 3 and a half hours to reach Lantian'ao. We camped in Lantian'ao at night. On the second day, it took another hour to walk out of Zhejiang. Although it was raining, the scenery was very beautiful. Unfortunately, the distance was too short and I didn't feel satisfied.

This is a classic route for beginners. You can try it.

However, I found several problems when I walked down the road all the way, and I hope that later generations can refer to it. 1) The tickets to the scenic area are too expensive, which is also criticized by many people. This road has been walked for hundreds of years without charging. Now there are legal toll booths holding toll certificates. It is really a road tyrant bandit. Not only does it charge, but it also charges high. Even insurance is 70 yuan. It is said that they will increase to 108 yuan next year. Local villagers said that there are about 280,000 to 350,000 tourists each year. Let's do the math! Moreover, the local villagers did not share the dividends, and they were all swallowed up by them. There are no trash cans, no cleaners to collect garbage, and no street lights in the scenic area. Garbage is everywhere, on the hillside, in the river, on the road, and you can see piles of black ash from burning garbage everywhere! 2) The local people selling things are so annoying. You are the production area of pecans, and the price is cheap, but they still use some old and bad walnut kernels to cheat tourists, causing everyone to avoid walnut kernels. It's really self-destructive! The quality of the things you buy is good, and the reputation is outside. Everyone should take some back. The price in the production area is much cheaper than outside, and everyone is happy. Why bother? Why bother? You really don't know how to do business! I asked the local tour guide, good walnut kernels are 70-80 yuan per catty, and the color is bright yellow and delicious! You can buy according to this standard! Don't be greedy! 3) The scenic area has no planning at all. The white 7-8-story houses stand abruptly among the green mountains and waters. The scenic area needs accommodation and hotels to facilitate tourists. Yes, do you understand harmony? Do you understand coordination? It's very strange, either the house is across the road, if you don't know, you might think you are going in the wrong direction and end up in the hotel. It's really ridiculous!

The air was very good, and the streams were gurgling along the way, winding down, and extremely clear. There was almost no signal in the mountains, so you should immediately turn your phone to flight mode. I had no experience, and it didn't take long for my phone to run out of battery. The end point of the first day was Lantianao. Near here, the mountain road narrowed and became steeper, and the steps seemed endless. We were camping, not staying in a hotel, but we had to make a reservation, because the space in Lantianao was only so big, and there were very limited tents that could be placed. On weekends, although it was not very popular, there would probably be no space if you didn't make a reservation. In the evening, we participated in a local bonfire party, where a large group of people gathered around the bonfire, singing and dancing, playing games, or chatting, and watching the stars. There was a roasted whole lamb on the bonfire in the center, which made people salivate. On the second day, we went down the mountain all the way. Except for a few dangerous slopes that needed to be walked carefully, the rest was much easier than the previous day. There was a flat road behind us. We could reach the end at noon.

As a well-known hiking route in China, the Huihang Ancient Road has quite complete facilities. There are not only vendors selling all kinds of equipment at the entrance, but also many local residents along the way who provide services ranging from accommodation to instant noodles and drinking water. You can travel light, or even take nothing with you. The entire route has stone steps, gravel roads, and mud roads. The section from "Jiangnan First Pass" to "Xuetang Courtyard" is relatively easy to walk. It is worth noting that the 3 kilometers to "Blue Sky Concave" is really a test of physical strength and willpower. Everyone should reasonably allocate physical strength. Come on! The scenery along the way is not bad, but I spent most of the time looking down at the road, and I also remind many hikers not to forget to stop and enjoy the scenery while running wildly!

The Huihang Ancient Road starts from Fuling Town, Jixi County, Huizhou, Anhui Province, and ends at Maxiao Township, Lin'an City, Zhejiang Province. It is 20 kilometers long. Before the opening of the Hangzhou-Anhui Highway, it was a shortcut for Huizhou people to Shanghai and Hangzhou, more than 100 miles shorter than the detour through Yuling Pass. The route of the Huihang Ancient Road is generally about 20 kilometers from Huizhou to Zhejiang. I chose to enter from Anhui, stay at Lantianao, the highest point of the ancient road, walk through the Zhanshan Grand Canyon on the second day, and then return to Jixi. Due to a navigation error, we went up the mountain from the back mountain of the Huihang Ancient Road, and turned back when we reached the top. It's nice to buy some cucumbers to quench your thirst while hiking, but don't buy the small walnuts, the kind that cost ten yuan for two or three bags. I heard that they are all walnut kernels that have been stored for several years. This is a bit of a rip-off!

This ancient trail is definitely worth visiting. When you are exhausted and successfully reach the top, you will see the beautiful scenery and prove that you can do it!

For a lazy person like me, I will definitely not go there a second time.

This is the least visited attraction I have ever been to. Hiking is very tiring but fun. The section in Anhui is well developed, but the Hangzhou section is not so good. The stream is full of garbage. My friend even took a bath in the horse drinking pool. Seeing the garbage in the mountains made him unhappy.

My first choice was the road that the red-top businessman Hu Xueyan had walked, the Huihang Ancient Road, which connected Jicheng, Anhui and Lin'an, Hangzhou. The weather was very good along the way, the scenery was beautiful, the water was blue, and I occasionally met many backpackers.

It feels like it has become a tourist attraction. There are houses along the way and the stream is full of bottles. Environmental management should keep up and over-development should be avoided!
