798 Art District is located on Jiuxianqiao Road, Chaoyang District, 16km away from the Capital Airport. 798 Art District was originally a factory area in the 1950s. It was favored by many artists for its Bauhaus-style factory buildings. Since then, there has been a combination of idle factories and modern art, gradually forming a multicultural space integrating galleries, art offices, cultural companies, bars, and shops.

The most famous contemporary art district in Beijing. I went there for the first time in the early 2000s. Various workshops and shops have changed one after another, but I can always find something interesting every time I go there. The special exhibitions of Ullens Art Museum are also very interesting. Later, there was a very trendy exhibition held by Fangcaodi Gallery. In general, if I were closer, I would like to visit it more often.
I went there after the college entrance examination in 2011, and the pictures were taken at that time. There are blocks inside, with different stores: some are exhibitions, some are shops; there are graffiti and sculptures on the roadside, and some of the ground is decorated with broken pieces of ceramic tiles embedded in cement, and there are small flowers by the windows of the shops.
There are two things in the store that left a deep impression on me (maybe they don’t exist now because it’s been so long): one was the exhibition related to Sun Wukong and Tao, the paintings were very vivid, but mobile phones were not very good in that era, and strong light couldn’t bring out the effect; the other was the feeling of the 60s and 70s, with big factory buildings with brick walls and various revolutionary calls.
There are several interesting things in the store. One is a musical instrument, a minority instrument, I forgot what it is called, it is round. If you buy it, you can learn to play simple songs. The other is a music box store. I just learned that the inside of a music box is like this. Different tones are generated by the collision and rotation of the small dots on the cylinder with the comb and ruler.
798 Art District (ArtDist) is located in Dashanzi area, Jiuxianqiao Street, Chaoyang District, Beijing, so it is also called Dashanzi Art District (DAD-Dashanzi Art District). It was originally the location of the old factory area of the state-owned 798 factory and other electronic industries. Now 798 has attracted widespread attention from domestic and foreign media and the public, and has become a new landmark of Beijing's urban culture.
This area stretches from Jiuxianqiao Road in the west to Jiuxianqiao East Road in the east, from Jiuxianqiao North Road in the north to Jiangtai Road in the south, with an area of more than 600,000 square meters. It is famous for its contemporary art and 798 lifestyle. The name of the art district is derived from the name of the old state-owned electronic industry factory in Beijing. During the development of the 798 Art District, the 798 consensus was formed. Therefore, 798 also refers to a cultural concept derived from this art district, as well as the fashionable living and working style of LOFT, referred to as the 798 lifestyle or 798 way.
The 798 Art District, known as "the most artistic attraction in Beijing", is a tourist attraction that is extremely suitable for taking photos and checking in. Especially for young ladies who like to post on WeChat Moments and Douyin, this place is definitely a place that cannot be missed~
If you travel often, you will find that big cities have more or less one or two cultural and creative parks, such as the well-known Shanghai Old Factory and Chengdu East Suburb Memory, as well as niche attractions such as the unknown old factories in second- and third-tier cities that have been transformed into attractions.
But if we trace its origin, Beijing's 798 Art District can be said to be the originator of cultural and creative districts across the country. It is the first place to redevelop and utilize old factories. For example, this mud wall, after being covered with graffiti, instantly regained its vitality. It went from being ignored to being the favorite of everyone scrambling to queue up to check in.
798 Art District covers a very large area, and with the newly developed ***, it is difficult to walk through it all without more than three hours. Of course, it is another matter for those who just want to check in and pass by quickly, so the speed is relatively fast.
The 798 Art District has preserved many old factory machines. There is no need to deliberately set up the scene. These steel bars and iron frames are the best tools for taking photos.
798 Art District is a very suitable place for taking literary photos. In addition to many graffiti walls, literary shops, and old factory machinery that can be used as props for shooting, the biggest prop is the locomotive head located in the center of the park.
The only drawback is that 798 Art District is too far from the city center and there is no direct subway access. You need to walk 1.8 kilometers to get there after getting off the subway, which is also one of the factors that currently restrict its development. I wonder if there will be a subway built into the park in the future?
Today I finally saw 798, the most famous art district in Beijing. After seeing it, I felt that Guangzhou's Redtory was really weak. The factory is very large, with four areas, ABCD, and each area has many exhibition halls.
Zhu Bingren's copper melting art is breathtaking.
Israeli artist David Gerstein's metal-cut paintings are bold in their use of color and are timeless.
The Children's Art Museum is holding a "Zero Hunger" exhibition, hoping that there will be no more hunger in the world. Children's creativity is endless and their paintings touch people's hearts.
And the creative graffiti everywhere😍
What a pity, we only have a few hours. We should set aside a whole day to slowly explore the place.
Well, the holiday is over, I am going back to Guangzhou to work...
The reason for choosing 798 is a military-industrial complex. The electronic industrial enterprises of the former Fourth Ministry of Machine Building, and at the same time, a third-line electronic military factory were born in the eastern suburbs of Chengdu, Sichuan. The biggest attraction of 798 is the Bauhaus Square of the 718 Factory, which represents the East German Bauhaus-style architecture of 798. The classic Bauhaus-style industrial factory has a semi-circular roof that can accommodate a large indoor space with a wide span of the factory. The large area of floor-to-ceiling glass is slightly tilted to prevent the accumulation of snow in the north. At the same time, you will notice that the glass windows are all facing north, which in the northern hemisphere avoids direct sunlight and makes the indoor lighting soft. On the whole, this connected shape brings visual beauty. If you come in the afternoon, the setting sun shining on the red-walled factory will add to the beauty.
I have heard that there is a "798 Art District" in Beijing. Chengdu's "Eastern Suburbs Memory" was inspired by it. They were all old factories of state-owned electronic industry, but Chengdu did not use the old factory name "773". These key industrial buildings built with Soviet aid in the early 1950s have experienced countless vicissitudes. Today, the factories are "dilapidated". Seeing them gives me a sense of déjà vu. When I first started working more than 30 years ago, I was assigned to work in a state-owned electronic industrial enterprise in the eastern suburbs of Chengdu.
It is a bit similar to the Dahua 1935 Art District and the Textile City Art District in Xi'an. It feels like they are all converted from former factories, but they are much larger than those in Xi'an. When I went there, it was already past six in the afternoon and many exhibitions had already closed. It is divided into several areas, which is very suitable for literary and artistic young people to take pictures. There are also some bars, cafes and the like. It is a good choice for young people.
The old factory area, which is mainly composed of 798 Factory, has a huge cast-in-place structure and bright skylights, and integrates modern artistic atmosphere and petty bourgeoisie sentiment. There are various art galleries, coffee shops, and literary and handicraft shops. It is a first-class place for taking photos. At least it is a place where you can have fun without spending money.
It is also the largest gathering place for Japanese and Korean people in Beijing, especially Koreans. It is close to the famous 798 Art District, where Metro Line 13 and Line 15 intersect, and the transportation is convenient. The community has Asia's largest furniture mall IKEA, Shuangye Home Furnishing and various large chain stores. For example, Huatang, Walmart, Hualian, etc. are all in this area, making shopping convenient.
This was originally the base of the national electronic industry, but now it has been transformed into a cultural and creative base. Some Bauhaus buildings have been well preserved. The old factory has been revitalized. In addition to the cultural and creative workshop, many cafes, bars, and Western restaurants have been rebuilt, making it a popular place for tourists and artists and creative people.
Those who are interested in literature and art must go, but those who are not interested in literature and art have no need to go
A unique little shop with restaurants, bars, and art galleries. It's just too big and very tiring to walk around.
A super artistic place where you can take many blockbuster films.
The old environment is very good, there are many delicious and fun things, and the artistic atmosphere is strong
The breath of art is overwhelming, I really want to visit more
It's worth coming again. There are many art exhibitions inside. Unfortunately, it was late and it was raining that day so I didn't visit many places.
Very good, I like the artistic atmosphere here, there are often many exhibitions
Like like ...
可能我是男生所以並沒太大感受,喜歡的是踢毽子的人們以及追逐足球的大孩子~
There is a very artistic atmosphere, and traces of art can be seen everywhere
A place for literary and artistic check-in, an art park that is constantly being updated, but a little far from the city center and other scenic spots
The best graffiti center, you can see art exhibitions. But there are few small shops, and few basic specialty shops
There weren't many people going there during the National Day holiday. The place is big and any small corner is very unique for taking photos.
The former site of Factory 798 is now the most artistic industrial design center in Beijing. Among them, the Bauhaus factory design represented by Pace Beijing is unique and distinctive.
It's very big. You can ask for directions from the volunteers on the roadside. This is where you can take photos.
798 is a good place for a stroll at noon. Some exhibitions require payment to enter, while others do not.
The very popular 798 Art District is an art area that integrates galleries, art centers, artist studios, design companies, restaurants and bars. I went there during the Spring Festival holiday, and many stores were closed, so it was a bit deserted.
This place is far from other attractions, but it is worth the trip once you get there.
There are many exhibitions inside that are worth seeing, but we went there before the Chinese New Year and many of them were not open.
The graffiti everywhere adds a strong artistic atmosphere, and every shot looks good.
Various art studios and small exhibition halls, various graffiti, various original shops... well, that's it.
It is a large park that integrates specialty hotels, various creative shops, and various exhibitions. It is really interesting and very suitable for taking photos. You can buy tickets to watch various interesting exhibitions.
It seems that everyone who comes to Beijing will visit 798 once. The 798 I saw this time was like seeing a miniature punk city.
It was transformed from an abandoned factory, so you can come if the weather is good.
There are often exhibitions to see. Find out about the exhibitions you want to see through relevant channels in advance and mark the locations.
A must-go place for those who love art, there will always be something you like.
798 has a strong artistic atmosphere. Some places are great for taking photos. There are also many delicious foods.
Check in ~ I just happened to come across some exhibitions where young artists gather
I'll go again in the summer...
It is a must-go for young people who love art and photography. If you like this kind of place, it is a good idea to go there on a sunny day.
It was already evening when I went there. I had high expectations, so I was a little disappointed. I don't understand art, but it's a good place for taking pictures. It looks good in any pose.
It's a very artistic place, worth a visit.
I have lived in this city for more than ten years. Although I cannot say that I belong to it 100%, I have left behind many footprints and photos. I post them one by one.
This set of photos of 798 was taken in April 2011. It must have changed a lot now.
Tickets are 80 yuan, the first floor is open until 7:00, the second floor is open until 7:30
798 covers a large area and is quite far from the subway, so people usually take the bus.
It is really a great place for taking photos, with beautiful natural light. But there were too many people and the place was too big. We didn’t see any of the exhibitions and we ran out of time. If you really want to visit and take photos, you should reserve more time, and it’s best to go there in the morning.
I came here seven years ago and it was full of artistic atmosphere and rich contents. I missed it very much. When I came here again seven years later, it was completely commercialized... Cafes, restaurants, and small shops accounted for more than half of the space. There were more and more commercial exhibitions. Tourists were swarming and people had to line up everywhere to take street photos. It has become a tourist attraction... There is a 751 block in the east, which is mainly the R&D center of Volkswagen and Audi... I will not come here again unless there is something special...
798 Art District, where literary young people and internet celebrities gather.
When artists and cultural institutions move into 798 Art District, it is filled with the active atmosphere of the art circle, gathering the personal collections of several generations of artists. It is also a place that countless art lovers must visit when they come to Beijing. It is not too much to come here for a day!
It has basically become one of the check-in spots for young people in Beijing, but in fact, the 751 next to it is more distinctive. Here are some pictures of 751.
798 was originally a factory area, and you can see that it still retains many of the characteristics of a factory area!
Graffiti has become the hallmark of 798, so it’s OK to just take a picture of the graffiti wall
A great place for photography~~ Any photo you take is an artistic photo~~
fenchanghaoooooo
I came to Beijing for the National Day holiday and all the scenic spots were crowded. I happened to live near 798 Art District and took a free trip on the morning of the last day. I walked around 798 Art District for 2 hours. There were not many people there. It is really a good place to take pictures. The scenery is beautiful anytime and anywhere. It is a must-go place for young literary people.
798 Art District, this is the place I'm talking about. There are often exhibitions, including painting exhibitions and some strange art exhibitions, which are very exciting.
There are many coffee shops and restaurants now, all of which are very unique and not crowded, making them suitable for young people to visit.
Yes, the trend of young people is full of art
When I went to 798, I saw a bar with two foreigners playing and singing.
It was a special feeling. Many people took out their mobile phones to take pictures. Of course, there were also many onlookers.
Although 798 is free, some of the exhibition halls inside require payment.
Some of the exhibition halls are really empty. Famous artists must be rich.
There are also exhibition halls that require WeChat reservations, and you will not be allowed to enter without a reservation
Some exhibition halls have many artists' works~ Actually they are quite beautiful
There are also some shops that sell interesting things, places to eat, bookstores, etc.
I feel that 798 is still visited by locals, especially art students.
A bit similar to Kaohsiung Pier-2 Art District
To be honest, many exhibition halls have signs prohibiting taking photos, but basically no one cares.
But let's be honest!! Art exhibits are not all for people to take pictures of! Basically, there is no art exhibit that does not allow taking pictures.
Only some historical relics or the bodies of celebrities are not allowed to be photographed.
I've been working here for four years but I've barely visited...
798 is a very suitable place for photography. It is not a place with mountains and rivers nor famous scenic spots, but it is a place with very artistic details.
A holy place for taking photos, every place is a place for taking photos, and the artistic atmosphere is strong. You can see exhibitions in any art area.
798 Art District, an art district transformed from old factory buildings in an industrial area, feels very familiar to me as a science and engineering guy.
It is very large, with various graffiti walls, artistic buildings, and many leisurely cafes.
It is impossible to appreciate art
Impossible in this life
I can only take pictures and walk around the scenic area.
Let's take some random photos together and pose together
Taking photos with my sisters is the most fun...
There are many boutiques in the art district, and it has a commercial atmosphere. If you have time, you can see some art exhibitions, which is pretty good. It is also interesting to walk around the art district, and you can inadvertently discover many surprises. But don't have too high expectations for it, because it is easy to be disappointed. We only spent less than two hours there. 😁
I'm sorry. I have to wait for half a day to use the restroom. There is basically no humanized design. There are small shops selling art works one by one. The better exhibitions are charged, and there is not even a place to shade the sun. It's very painful. I will basically not go there a second time. One star for the Zhu Bingren Master Museum and one star for the photos.
The environment is a bit worse, there are a lot of art and less graffiti. It feels a bit like American street culture. I can't finish it in one morning! It's quite interesting! There are more cultural museums inside! Beijing is worth a visit!
An art district that is popular all over the world. I used to work here, but I didn’t think it was very artistic at that time. Only in recent years did I realize how artistic it is. . .
There are many small art exhibitions in the 798 Art District, including a very interesting insect specimen exhibition, which is very beautiful and creative.
There are many exhibitions throughout the year, which is a window to the world. There are also many places to take photos.
I made a travel guide in advance and chose the stores I wanted to visit. I spent about four hours in 798 because there were so many stores I wanted to visit!
There are many galleries here, all with great styles, you can take your time to browse around.
I heard that art and red wine go better together on rainy days, Slovenia
A super cool art district with many beautiful wall paintings and great food. I strongly recommend the frozen yogurt!!!
An art district transformed from an abandoned factory building near Wangjing, with many young artists and pseudo-artists. It is recommended for couples to take photos here. It is a bit far if you come alone, and girls should like this place more. Corresponding to this are Shenyang Tiexi 1905 and Chengdu Dongjiao Memory.
It's worth a visit. The park is very large and consists of various pavilions and small shops. Because it is near the hotel, I couldn't wait to go there on the first day. Every city has an art district. Because I arrived late, most of the pavilions were closed. In the summer evening in Beijing, the breeze was blowing, so I could only walk on the road and enjoy the street scenery. The wind in the evening was very comfortable. There was an uncle playing American country music in the square. I just sat on a bench and ate ice cream and felt it slowly. The next day, I came here to make up for the unfinished exhibition halls. There were mostly painting exhibitions, but for a painting blind like me, basically no one could resonate with the author. Just think of it as bringing a different feeling to the senses. There is a place in the park that retains many traces of the original factory, and the protection is also very good. It feels very special. The park is much more lively during the day. There are handsome men and beautiful women taking pictures together, a family of four strolling, foreign handsome men shooting outdoor scenes, and foreign friends who came in groups. I don't know if this is a place for appreciating art. There are so many beautiful women and handsome men I met, which is pleasing to the eye.
I went there once in 2013 and liked it very much. I went there alone with my kids. The transportation was not very convenient, and there was no direct subway, but the streets and atmosphere inside were very comfortable. I happened to meet the Taste of Success Person of the Year walking on the red carpet that year...
798 Art District is a paradise for "street graffiti" lovers.
798 Art District is located in Chaoyang District, Beijing. The preferred transportation is the subway. Although you can't get there right after exiting the subway, it is also the most convenient. If you drive a car from other places, you still need to apply for a Beijing Entry Permit. It is better to park your car outside the Fifth Ring Road and take the subway. The parking fee in 798 is charged by the hour. If you calculate it as a half-day tour, I don't know which is more appropriate, the parking fee or the subway fee! 798 Art District was originally the location of the old factory area of the state-owned 798 Factory and other electronic industries. Now it has become a place with a very artistic atmosphere. It is very enjoyable to walk around here slowly for a day. Some exhibition halls require tickets, and some exhibition halls have some special exhibitions from time to time. In addition to the extremely artistic exhibits, the graffiti everywhere is also a highlight here. When you are tired, go to a special coffee shop to take a rest. It is warm and romantic.
798 is located in Jiuxianqiao, Chaoyang District. It was a state-owned industrial zone in the 1950s. With the development of society, it gradually declined.
Many artists gathered here to pursue their dreams, and gradually formed the current 798 Art District. The old factory area has a kind of decadent beauty, and after transformation, there are many unique art stores. After entering, you will find a different world, which is very interesting, and there are many art walls.
798 is a good place to check in and take beautiful photos in all seasons. You can play as long as you want💃
