Badaling Great Wall

八达岭长城

Badaling is located in the south of Yanqing County, northwest of Beijing, about 80km from the city. Badaling Great Wall is the best preserved section of the Ming Great Wall and the most visited section by tourists in Beijing. The wall is 3741m long and 1015m above sea level. The terrain is strategic and has always been a battleground for military strategists. In addition to the two natural scenic spots of the Remaining Great Wall and the Chadao Ancient City, the Badaling Scenic Area also has the China Great Wall Museum and the Great Wall Full-circle Cinema. The China Great Wall Museum is a thematic museum with the Great Wall as its theme, which comprehensively reflects the history, military, architecture, economy, culture, art and current situation of the Great Wall. The adjacent full-circle cinema plays the 17-minute documentary "The Great Wall" in a loop.

Time reference: 1 day

After climbing the city, there are two routes, north and south. The north route is a circular route with eleven platforms. First, go uphill to the highest point of the eighth floor in the north, then go downhill to the exit of the bear park. It takes about 2 hours. The south route is a round trip route, which is slightly flatter and has a total of 7 platforms. If you have good leg strength, you can go south first and then north (the south route has fewer tourists and better scenery). If you have average leg strength, you can only take the north route. If you want to go on both the north and south routes and visit the museum, it is better to prepare a day.

The S2 train to Yanqing is a new model, clean and tidy, with complete facilities. The crew is enthusiastic, professional and considerate. The speed is not high and the noise is low. You can choose to catch up on sleep or enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. It is recommended to use the train as a means of transportation to the Badaling Great Wall. You can also get a simple guide map of the Badaling Great Wall for free at the station. It takes about 4 hours to climb all the parts of the Great Wall that tourists can reach (without taking the cable car), and it does not include the time for rest and stopping to watch. If you travel in a group, it is difficult to complete the climb within the time given by the travel agency.

[Transportation] Exit from Jishuitan Subway Station B, and there will be a sign. Follow the arrow to the 877 bus terminal. The real 877 can be paid by bus card, 6 yuan by bus card, 12 yuan in cash. Before coming, you must confirm whether your bus card has enough for the round-trip fare. There is no recharge booth at the Great Wall. Fortunately, mobile payment is also available (EasyPass is not available), otherwise you will have to pay 12 yuan in cash. If you pay in cash, it is best to prepare change, as some may not give change.
If there is no traffic jam, it will take more than an hour to reach Badaling.
The return trip should be as early as possible. The last bus of bus 877 is at 5 o'clock. If you catch the last bus at 5 o'clock, you will most likely have to stand back. In addition, there will be traffic jams on the road, which will make it hopeless. You can choose to return at 1:30. The return trip of bus 877 is at the [Qianshan Bear Park Parking Lot]. Now that I think about it, I forgot to see the free bear pavilion.
[Tickets] There are guides on the bus who will tell you that there are three ways to reach the summit: hiking, cable car, and cable car.
I am the kind of person who doesn’t like sports, so I chose to hike up the mountain. It took a total of one and a half hours from North 1 to North 8, so I don’t think the intensity is very high. Young people can climb up by themselves.
At first, we chose to buy tickets online for 43 yuan, because I remembered that the ticket was 50 yuan. But when we got to the site, we found that the ticket was only 40 yuan, so we decisively refunded the online ticket. But you must successfully refund online, otherwise the window will show that you have already bought the ticket and cannot buy it on the spot.
[ID] You must bring it! You need it to buy tickets.
[Route] The first time I came, I mostly climbed North 1 to North 8. Because the Hero Stone, Haohao Po, and Hero Monument are all here. Although the North Great Wall goes to 12, the top is at 8, and the rest feels like a downhill road, and you have to go back the same way, so I didn't go there.
When I was climbing the North Great Wall, I saw that there were very few people on the South Great Wall opposite. So if you have the energy, you can choose to climb the South Great Wall next time.
[Nearby Attractions] Generally, guided tours will watch the flag-raising ceremony in the morning, climb the Great Wall in the morning, go to the Ming Tombs early in the morning, return to the city from the Ming Tombs, and go to the Bird's Nest to see the night view in the evening.

Although it is not a holiday, there are still many people at the Badaling Great Wall on weekends! Maybe everyone still wants to be a hero, after all, it is a 5A scenic spot with a long history! But for me, although I climbed the Hero's Slope, I am still not a hero, because I am a fairy 😜
Regarding transportation, I recommend taking the S2 special line, because the bus is really congested! Very congested!!! But it is true that taking the bus can reduce the walking distance~ I recommend everyone to use Gaode Map, the navigation is generally very good! The departure time of S2 is generally not fixed, so you must check it in advance. The fairy went there by bus, so she took the train back! I was deeply touched! But when you return, after checking your ticket, you must run forward, the farther in front the better, because this Harmony No. 1 has no seat number and the seats are first come first served, so you will see people running forward to occupy a seat in front of the platform!
Regarding the cable car, I personally think that if there are elderly people or children, they can take it. It all depends on their own wishes.
I think since I'm here, I have to experience the classic route. I climbed from Beiyi to Beiba, then went down to Beiyi, then to Bear Park, and finally to the place where I climbed the Great Wall. It took me two hours in total. I didn't hear that the whole journey took five or six hours. However, this was also related to the flow of people on that day, because some sections of the road were really impossible to walk, and I could only move step by step. On the one hand, there were too many tourists taking photos and resting, and mainly because the door through the enemy building was too narrow, and two people walking side by side would be squeezed, not to mention such a flow of people! Haohanpo, almost all the sections that tourists must check in, the flow of people is really never empty, there are always so many people! Look at the picture 😂
However, the downhill route chosen by the little fairy was relatively less crowded, so the speed was increased! However, the steps and the slope were really steep! For the first time, I felt that it was easier to go up the mountain than to go down. My knees really hurt when I went down! Then I walked all the way down the slope to the S2 express station.
As for the scenery, after all, it is so old, but it is still so spectacular. I have to sigh at the wisdom of the ancient working people! The mountains are layered and the Great Wall stretches and undulates. It’s just that the weather today is a little worse than the previous two days, so I can’t see too far. As for the maple leaves, only the most beautiful red wall is a little red, and the rest are yellow and green, with some red dots.
That's all I have to say, just for reference for those who haven't been to Badaling yet~

I was very satisfied with this chartered tour. The customer service took the initiative to help us design the route and how to play, which saved me a lot of worries. It was professional and enthusiastic. The service was very good. The driver contacted me one night when he proposed marriage. He picked me up at the time I set. The car was clean and there was no odor. He introduced us to the attractions along the way, so we were not lonely. The driving skills were great and the road conditions were familiar. When we arrived at the Great Wall, he took the initiative to help us get the tickets, which saved us a lot of trouble and we didn't have to wait in a long line. In short, we had a lot of fun, but there were more people on holidays. Next time, we must avoid traveling on holidays! When we came back, we temporarily changed the delivery location and consulted the customer service. The customer service quickly arranged for the driver to take us there. I was very satisfied and must give a 5-point praise! Will come again!

There weren't many people on May 1st, but I got up late in the morning. I took the 877 bus and it broke down just after it started at about 9 o'clock. I waited for an hour and changed buses. It started again. Children were supposed to be free, but the second bus was charged. It's not a big deal. It's 12 yuan for adults with credit cards and 6 yuan for adults without credit cards and 12 yuan.
Remember to swipe your card when you get off the bus, or you will be fined more than 15 yuan
The second car drove by at 10 o'clock. It was jammed all the way and we arrived at the Great Wall at about 12 o'clock.
Everyone remember to go inside. The ticket is at the innermost part. There are 2 tickets inside and at the innermost part. It is not expensive except for the 40 yuan ticket.

I came back at 4 o'clock and the ride was smooth.

This May Day, I took my mother and daughter to Beijing for a trip. Although I have been to Beijing several times, this was my first time to the Great Wall. I signed up for a tour on China-TravelNote and met a super good tour guide. I felt really lucky. The tour guide Jiang Li was kind and beautiful. She explained everything in detail and in an orderly manner. There was also roast duck for lunch. It was definitely a pure play without shopping. The driver, Master Ma, drove very well. In short, it was worth the trip and I was very happy! It left a good impression on our family. Thank you, tour guide Jiang Li, and driver Master Ma! Thumbs up for you

It is magnificent and a must-visit for Beijing, but the guide on bus No. 877 that goes directly to Badaling is really a rip-off! It is recommended that as long as you are not over 60 years old or you have a little physical strength, you can choose to hike. The front mountain slide is about 150 yuan, and the slide takes 5 minutes to the North Fourth Floor. The back mountain is a long way to climb the Great Wall. There is a distance in the middle. I asked several times how far it is. They changed the topic and asked you to take the slide. In fact, it is only 50 to 100 meters, which is to walk to the entrance of the Great Wall! Damn, I thought it would take a long time to climb the Great Wall. It took less than 1 hour from the entrance to the North Eighth Floor Hero Slope! The Great Wall is really worth going...

If you haven't been to the Great Wall, you are not a true man! ! When I was walking on Qianmen Street that day, I happened to see that there was a tourist line 1 that could go directly to the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs. It was very convenient. There will be a sign telling tourists which direction to go when you come out of Exit C of Qianmen Station on Metro Line 2. We went to Badaling Great Wall first, and the fare was 20 yuan. There was no interval between the buses. They were one after another and left when they were full. There were many tourists queuing up to get on the bus, so there was absolutely no problem with full seats. We got on the bus before 8 o'clock that day, and it left at 04. After climbing the Great Wall, we went to the Ming Tombs and took the tourist line directly to Changling. The fare was 10 yuan. The departure time was 11 o'clock, 12 o'clock, and 13 o'clock. Then after the Ming Tombs, we took the tourist line back to Qianmen, and the fare was 10 yuan. The direct bus departs at Changling at 2 o'clock, 3 o'clock, and 4 o'clock in the afternoon. The departure time at Dingling is around 2:05, 3:05, and 4:05, because it takes about 5 minutes to drive from Changling. Very convenient. The fare for the through train can only be paid in cash. You must get on the bus first and buy the ticket later. The attendant will come to sell tickets on the bus. We took the cable car up, which reached the 6th slope, and then climbed 2 more slopes to the Haohan Slope on the 8th floor of the north building. However, I don’t know if I took the wrong route. I never saw the three words "Haohan Slope". In addition, I heard that there are 12 slopes to climb, but why was there no road when I reached the 8th slope? I thought I climbed the wrong way, so I got off and returned to the cable car station, and took another route and climbed again, but I still returned to the 8th floor of the north building. I booked the ticket on a travel website. Half-price tickets for the elderly and children can also be booked online, and then I went to the ticket hall (where you queue up for the cable car, you can directly pick up the ticket)

Although things in scenic spots are generally expensive, the ones at the Great Wall are too outrageous. A cup of soy milk costs 10 yuan, and breakfast costs 20 yuan per person. When queuing to get in, you can be squeezed into a meat pie. There are many people who cut in line, and their quality is worrying. It was still very shocking when I climbed the Great Wall for the first time. The Great Wall itself is a miracle and looks magnificent. Unfortunately, only a small section is open, which is disappointing. There is a very steep section in the middle. If you don't hold the handrail on the side, the consequences will be disastrous if your shoes slip.

Transportation: I personally recommend taking subway line 13 to S2 to go to the Great Wall, and then taking the bus to Deshengmen. Equipment: Wear walking shoes, hats and masks. The wind on the Great Wall in winter is huge, which makes us doubt our lives. Be sure to wear gloves. Don't believe that your legs can finish the walk in front of the 90-degree rounding. You have to rely on your hands to get rich! ! It's best to bring some dry food with you. Process: As someone who has walked the northern Great Wall, I just want to say that God knows how we survived. The Great Wall is divided into the southern section and the northern section. The northern Great Wall is divided into two sections, North 1 to North 8 and North 8 to North 12. The first section is the road that normal tourists will take. There are slides (kindergarten colored slides extended version, to the fourth floor of the north) and cable cars (to the eighth floor of the north). The prices are not cheap. If you want to take it, it is more cost-effective to take it back and forth. Beiba is the highest building. You don't need to know which section is the most difficult, the longest, and the steepest, because you can only climb forward after you climb up. If you continue to walk backward, you can walk to Beitwelve and then go out, but! ! But! ! After finally reaching Beiba, the remaining physical strength is too much for the road behind, which is even more difficult. We didn't know that if we walked down, we could only walk one way to the end and couldn't turn back. It was too difficult. Because not many people would walk the road behind Beiba, there is no cable car or other methods to go down directly, and there is no management. The road is more difficult than the front. It is a slope of nearly 90 degrees. You climb up and climb down. Some steps feel like 30cm each. You hold on to the horizontal bar next to you the whole time, using all four limbs. You fully understand why it is called "climbing" the Great Wall. It was particularly desperate to walk. You couldn't go back or go down. Your whole leg was shaking when you went downhill. Don't think I'm exaggerating. How should I put it? I've seen many people say that it's OK for normal young adults to walk to Beiba. In fact, for people like us who don't do much exercise and have strong winds in winter (blowing us into autism), it's too uncomfortable to walk. What's the point of spending so much energy and time to walk up alone? If you try to walk, you might even lose your kneecap. The scenery you see when you try to reach the top will be similar. Maybe you can enjoy the scenery better by taking a cable car. Although I've said some toxic chicken soup here, I sincerely remind people with average physical strength that they don't have to lose their bodies. It's unnecessary to accidentally strain or wear and tear. You come out to enjoy and experience it. Of course, we deserve to be autistic because we were stingy and took the wrong road, poor and stupid. It took less than 4 hours to climb in total, which was actually OK.

2019/2/1, sunny day, the weather at the Great Wall was 3 degrees to minus 10 degrees, my daughter and I decided to hike the Great Wall. As southerners, we didn’t know how cold minus 10 degrees was. My daughter wore a long down jacket, and I wore a windbreaker. I also carried two thin down jackets in my bag. It turned out that it was not necessary to bring them. It was very hot to climb the Great Wall. Moreover, the dry cold in the north is really not cold compared to the wet cold in our Jiangnan area.
Let's get to the point. We climbed and stopped, ate, and took photos during the whole process. It took 2.5 hours to climb from the North 1st Floor to the North 11th Floor. It was not too tiring. If there were no elderly people, there was no need to take the cable car and the trolley. The cable car went down from the North 7th Floor to the North 8th Floor, and then went back to the North 7th Floor to take the cable car. The trolley was from the North 4th Floor. After climbing the North 8th Floor, you had to go back to the North 4th Floor to take the trolley. It was better to climb by yourself, climb down from the North 8th Floor, and go to the 11th Floor to reach the Bear Park, and then go to the parking lot to take bus 877 back.
ps: I don’t exercise every day. I only do 7,000 to 8,000 steps a day on WeChat Sports. My daughter is 9 years old. Before we climbed the mountain, I thought we might not be able to finish it. But it turned out that we could finish it. We also went to Qianmen Dashilan for a walk after returning.

The weather was bad on the day we went there, and everything was white. However, the Great Wall in the fog felt more like a giant dragon flying in the clouds.
There are many tourists visiting the Great Wall, so be prepared for overcrowding.
The Badaling Great Wall area for tourists to visit is from the first floor in the south to the twelfth floor in the north. It takes about two or three hours to walk the whole way. You must pay attention to safety when climbing the Great Wall. Some places are quite steep (especially when coming down from the beacon tower). You must hold the handrail when walking. Poor old comrade Fang almost fell. Let's take this as a warning~

Since we are in the off-season and it was only about 7:30 in the morning, there were few people on the bus, so we set off as soon as we got on the bus. The fare is 12 yuan per person, and the bus card is 50% off (I wrote the bus card at the beginning, it’s important, right?) 877. There is a tour guide on each bus, who briefly introduces the Great Wall and how to climb the city. When we are about to reach Juyongguan, he will give us a brief introduction, which is good. There are beautiful scenery everywhere on the Great Wall, and you don’t have to go to North 8 to see the effect.
We reached the city gate before 9 o'clock. There were very few tourists and the Great Wall was not as cold as we imagined, but masks were a must.

I went there in winter. It was quite remote. I rented a car with two other friends and went up there. After walking for a while, I found that the wind was very strong. There were still many people, but the surrounding environment was a bit depressed. The leaves had basically fallen off and there was no life. I went up to the eighth floor of the north building and came back. The scenery along the way was basically the same, and my friend seemed too tired and kept urging me to go down. It is not recommended to go to the Great Wall in winter. It is quite good to go in spring and summer.

By Nana |

After going up to the city, I found that the wind was even stronger, and the lightweight girls would be blown away. So after coming down from the south, I just left and didn't stay for long. In general, it is a place you will regret not going to. So I still recommend it. Another point is this "If you haven't been to the Great Wall, you are not a true man" monument. There are really several monuments, so don't waste too much time in crowded places. Walk forward and you will find a new monument, and there are not many people.

First of all, I want to tell you that tourism chaos exists everywhere, and our capital Beijing is no exception. So if you choose to climb the Badaling section of the Great Wall, the most convenient route is: exit from the southwest exit C of Qianmen subway station. For outsiders traveling to Beijing, you must not be familiar with various places, so you exit the subway station on your left rear, go to the main road where there are many parked cars, so you must identify them clearly. There is a row of red buses parked on the right side of the traffic light, and there is also a bus stop sign next to it: Qianmen-Badaling. The front windshield of the bus also has the logo of Qianmen-Badaling Great Wall. If you really can't find it, you can look for the traffic coordinator wearing yellow clothes on the side of the road (almost all of them are Beijingers who work there all year round) They will hardly fool you, so you must see clearly what kind of car you are taking. Please remember: it is Beijing Tourism Line 1, the full fare is 20 yuan, there is no additional charge, the end point is the foot of the Badaling Great Wall, get off the car is the cable car ticket office, the whole journey is about 1.5 hours without traffic jams, please bring your own hat and other warm items in winter, and finally remind: there are many ways to get from Beijing indoors to the Badaling Great Wall, but Beijing Tourism Line 1 is really very convenient and more formal. They will not sell you back and forth to other small travel agencies, nor will they force you to do anything else, so when you go out to play, remember to read more guides to avoid being cheated and affecting your mood! Finally, I wish you all a happy trip!

Perhaps every Chinese person has such a wish in his or her heart. When you go to Beijing, have you visited the Great Wall?
The first time I went to Beijing, I was on a solo trip, so I naturally gave up the Great Wall, which was far away in the suburbs. The transportation was inconvenient, I was lonely, my friends were busy, and I didn't have the mood to appreciate the magnificent world in the north, so I didn't go. As a result, when I came back, my friends asked me, "Have you been to the Great Wall?" I silently answered, "No."
The second time I went to Beijing, I decided to spend some time with my partner. Besides the ice skating I mentioned before, the Great Wall was the only place I could not avoid. Fortunately, Mr. Chen had been there before and had experience. The travel notes shared detailed driving routes. If you follow the steps one by one, you will definitely find the 877 bus, which is specially prepared for friends who go to the Great Wall for sightseeing.
As a lazy comrade who lacks exercise, "crying out in pain" is not enough to express my feelings at the time. Ignorance is fearless. I was so happy as soon as I got on the Great Wall. Mr. Chen said, should we go to the North Tower or the South Tower? I said, it's not easy to come here once, whichever tower has more towers will go to which one, how can I come here in vain! God knows what I went through later. There are twelve towers. I was out of breath and tired when I climbed to the fifth and sixth towers. I was slapped in the face every minute. After that, it was almost Mr. Chen dragging, pulling, and pulling. Every step was torture, and my legs kept shaking. The Great Wall really makes people admire the wisdom of the predecessors. The heavy stones are not only neatly stacked, but also dangerous and steep, standing in the mountains. Climbing the Great Wall is a thing that requires perseverance. Sometimes I really feel that I can't hold on. Mr. Chen said, it's almost there! Just a few more! Just three! Two! One! The last one! There are still a few steps! I remember clearly that Mr. Chen pulled me up the last few steps. He was exhausted and couldn't move. Fortunately, he was there, so we have the check-in pictures of each tower!
For those who are going later, if you are in good physical condition and have companions, you can try your limits. Avoid heat stroke in summer and avoid falling in winter, it is really slippery! I met a few guys along the way, running desperately, but I still didn't dare to do it. The impact was too great, so be careful. Travel is for fun, pay attention to safety! If there are children or the elderly, I don't recommend climbing the whole way. You can go down the mountain directly in the middle of the North Tower. It is recommended to climb to the middle and take the cable car down the mountain. The first half is relatively flat, just feel it! We can find that there are more people from the beginning to the middle, and there are only a few young people in the second half.
After going down the mountain, there is a big bear zoo with several black bears. They are huge. I am so small that I dare not go forward. Mr. Chen is very brave. My instinctive reaction is to hold him. I am afraid that if he comes up, I will be finished! Okay, I admit my fear!
If you haven't been to the Great Wall, you are not a true man! Don't leave any regrets! No matter what, it's good to have been there!
I am also a tomboy who has been to the Great Wall!

Since the bus time is from 11:00 to 16:30, and I asked the driver on the bus how long it would take, he said he would hike up alone and it would take about three hours round trip. I was afraid that the three of us would not have enough time, so I chose to take the cable car to the fourth floor of the north building and then climb up.
It's very cold at the foot of the Great Wall, and the wind is a bit strong. Just walk straight ahead after buying the ticket. There are many small shops selling food on both sides.
After arriving at the cable car entrance, you will be arranged to sit down, and then, remember to fasten the safety buckle on the lower left corner. The staff did not tell us... What an oversight. I thought it would be fast, but it was actually quite slow. I was also worried about whether the safety buckle of the mother in front of me was fastened tightly... Fortunately, the cable car slowly went up and arrived at the fourth floor of the north building in a short while.
When I was a child, I always heard that if you haven’t been to the Great Wall, you are not a true man. Now, I have really become a tomboy.
My mother said that in the past, bricks were so big that they had to be carried up there by manpower, and it was really hard to carry people to death.
People at that time were so great and tragic.
This is a world cultural heritage and a wonder of the world!
I don’t think it’s that difficult to climb from the fourth floor of the North to the eighth floor of the North. If I started from the first floor, it would probably be different.
There are many cats on the Great Wall, and each of them is fat. They are probably fattened by tourists... They don’t let others touch them and are very vigilant. Even if there are crowds of people around them, they are calm and relaxed, enjoying their own time.
The place where the cable car goes down the mountain is just ahead of where the photographer takes photos. Don't go down. There are restrooms below. Oh, by the way, there are restrooms on the fourth and seventh floors of the north building. I heard from the flight attendant that there are many people queuing and it will probably take half an hour. Well, maybe that's during the peak season when there are many people. When we went to the restroom at that time, there weren't many people and we didn't have to queue.
Because we took the cable car up, we had plenty of time, so after we came down, we bought some small specialty products and accessories from the shops on both sides, and also engraved words here. The ones on the Great Wall cost 40 yuan each, but here they only cost 5 yuan each, which scared me...
Later I bought the roasted sweet potatoes I had been craving for on the roadside, but haha, the stall owner said they were closing up at around three or four o'clock.

The cheapest and most convenient way to get to the Badaling Great Wall is to take a direct bus, 877, with a fare of only 13 yuan, and it departs at a fixed point. Everyone has a seat and it takes about 1 and a half hours to arrive. Tickets can be purchased online. There is a window where you can exchange physical tickets. You don't need to follow some scalpers at the scenic spot. I feel that if you travel freely, you can buy a ticket and a bus ticket for 60 yuan. Remember to prepare dry food in advance, plenty of water. We brought 5 bottles, drank 3 and a half bottles, and brought half a roast duck rack for lunch. It can be regarded as an experience of eating Beijing roast duck at the Great Wall. Hahaha, although it is cold, it is a different experience.
It took us about 5 hours to climb both the North and South Great Walls, including rest and meals. There are many sections of the Great Wall that are very shaky, and you can say it's straight up and down, so please save your energy. There are not many toilets on the Great Wall. I only encountered a toilet once in 5 hours. Painful! ! ! ! ! ! The last bus seems to end at 5:30, remember to arrange your time reasonably. We missed the last bus 877, and we need to walk several kilometers to take other buses. You know, after climbing the Great Wall, walking a few kilometers is really torture every step!

Although it has been criticized for being crowded during the peak season, it was able to be developed earlier. In addition to the regional factor of being located on the Beijing-Zhangjiakou transportation line, it still has other unique features. First of all, Badaling is located on the outermost side of the mountain barrier between Beijing and Zhangjiakou. Going northwest from Badaling, it is the open and flat valley of Yanqing and Huailai. Standing on the height of Badaling, you can overlook the plain of Yanqing from a high position if the weather is good. Even better, looking from the height of the south wall to the city, you can even see the Chinese wine jar 60 kilometers away. This is compared with Mutianyu, which I have been to, which the latter does not have. In addition, the mountains in the Badaling area are indeed good, with ups and downs, winding and twists, and a sense of layering. It was past the beginning of winter when I went to Badaling this time, so I didn't see the autumn leaves. But during the Qingming Festival and May Day, the mountain flowers were in full bloom, which was very beautiful, so choosing a better season to come can also have the bonus of other natural plants.
Finally, let's talk about the route. It can be divided into two routes, north and south, starting from the Guancheng in the middle. There are 12 watchtowers in the open area of the north line and only 7 in the south line, so first of all, you can make a choice based on your own time and physical strength. There is an inscription on the south line with the words "If you haven't been to the Great Wall, you are not a hero", but I don't think this is too important, because these inscriptions are also on the small square outside the south gate of the Guancheng below. In addition, you have to return to the original route when going up and down the south line. But one advantage of the south line is that most of the time, when you stand on the south line and look back to take a full view of the north line, it is in the right light. In addition, at the height of the south line, you can look out to the Yanqing urban area and Guanting Reservoir, and look inward to the urban area and Zhongguo Zun, and the viewing angle is better than that of the north line.
The North Line is longer and has more content. The biggest advantage is that you can go up from the Guancheng side, reach the high point of the North Seventh Floor, and then go down from the North Twelfth Floor, and get off the city next to the Bear Park. The North Twelfth Floor is blocked, and if you continue in that direction, you can go all the way to the top of Qinglongqiao Railway Station.

There is a cableway. Tourists who don't want to walk can take the cableway directly to the enemy tower. After the tour, they can take the cableway back, which can save energy and relax. In addition, there are the Zhan Tianyou Memorial Hall and the China Great Wall Museum. Start climbing from the North Tower. Most tourists choose this route, so there are many people. It takes about two hours to climb to the eighth floor of the North Tower. There are very few tourists in the South Tower, but the Great Wall feels very deserted. I feel that they are all the same, and I am a little tired of the aesthetics, so I only climbed to the fourth floor of the South Tower and returned.

Because most people who traveled with a group chose to take the cable car to the Great Wall, my friends and I, believing that we are not true climbers if we haven't climbed the Great Wall, decided to climb up by ourselves. After all, we had plenty of time, so when we arrived at the Great Wall, we left the group and walked all the way from the North First Floor to the North Twelfth Floor. Except for the large crowds, everything else was a great experience.
This is the real hero who has reached the Great Wall and walked through the Hero's Slope!
There are many people climbing the Great Wall, and there should be many stories. There are people of all colors here, including foreign old ladies who stubbornly refuse help from anyone, international friends who take photos with you very friendly, fellow villagers who recognize each other because of their casual dialects, white-haired old men, and toddlers.

There are quite a lot of food to eat below the Great Wall, including noodles with soybean paste 🍜, dumplings 🥟, and KFC 🍟. The prices are relatively expensive 💰, but acceptable.
The Great Wall in winter is much colder than the city, and the wind is particularly strong, so be sure to keep warm.
Badaling is divided into the south line and the north line. The south line is less crowded and relatively flat.
There are many people on the north line. Haohanpo is on the eighth floor of the north line. Basically, you can return to the original route after reaching the eighth floor of the north line. The section from the north 9 to the north 12 is very steep and windy in winter. 📣 It is really not recommended to go there.
Because we were bringing our elders with us, we took the cable car to and from North 4, and started climbing the city from North 4, which saved us some distance and made it easier.
Friends who are interested can hike the whole way, it’s not very tiring 😊.

There is a cableway at the foot of Badaling Mountain that goes directly to the seventh level. It is said that the hero stone with the words "If you haven't been to the Great Wall, you are not a hero" is at the eighth level. Taking the cableway up can save a lot of energy. But!! There are so many people queuing up that if they had waited in line, they would have already climbed up. Therefore, you must be very careful when choosing the cableway to go up the mountain!
The scenery on the Great Wall is magnificent. Although it is cloudy and visibility is low, it still retains its charming charm.
As a 5A-level scenic spot, forest fire prevention is very important. There are also signs saying "No Smoking" all over the mountain, but many people just ignore it and continue to smoke. Some people even smoke under the no-smoking signs. They don't listen after being reminded. There are still a few staff members in the scenic spot.

Take the subway line 2, exit at Jishuitan Station, follow the signs to find bus 877, take bus 877 (12 yuan for the ticket, 6 yuan with a card) directly to Badaling, it takes about 1 hour (normally). After getting off the bus, keep walking forward, ignore the entrance to the scenic spot and continue walking, go through the security check at the Bear Park, I used the map navigation on my phone to find the entrance to the North 11th floor, there are few people there, you can take a few photos like me, it feels pretty good. Walk from North 11 to North 1, then South 1 to South 4 to see the Han Dynasty Monument (a total of 2 hours). (This is a pure hike. It is recommended to enter from North 11. If you are not physically fit, choose a cable car or a pulley)

The guide I found online told me that to go to the Great Wall:
Method 1: Take the subway to Xizhimen, and then take the suburban railway S2 line to Badaling.
Method 2: Go to Deshengmen first, then take bus No. 877 to Badaling
These are all very troublesome methods!
We had no choice but to follow the guide and go out early, planning to queue up at S2, but it was better to arrive by chance than to arrive by chance.
There is an official direct bus to and from Badaling at the [Beijing Tourist Service Center] right in front of the front gate.
The one-way fare is 20 yuan. Badaling is about 85 kilometers away from the city center and can be reached in 1 hour and 20 minutes if there is no traffic jam.
This bus does not require reservation, you can buy it on time and it will depart when it is full. The first bus to Badaling is at 8:00 in the morning, and the return trip ranges from 12:00 to 16:00.
We can take a bus directly to our doorstep, and it’s such a comfortable air-conditioned bus. We all think it’s very convenient. Let’s buy tickets and get on the bus quickly!
At first I didn't know whether to climb the north slope or the south slope. The south side seemed to have fewer people, so I climbed the south side first.
It is a good choice to choose the south slope. There are really few people and you can often see an empty background.

On the last day, we finally arrived at the Great Wall. Now we have to queue up early to buy tickets and take the train. We need to wear shoes that are easy to walk in. We have to climb the Great Wall, not take the cable car. The young man climbed up slowly, and didn't feel anything.

The Badaling Great Wall is located at the north entrance of the Guangou Ancient Road in Jundu Mountain, Yanqing District, Beijing. It is an important part of the Great Wall, a great defense project in ancient China, and a pass of the Ming Great Wall. The Badaling section of the Ming Great Wall is called "Yuguan Natural Moat" and is one of the eight scenic spots of Juyongguan in the Ming Dynasty. It was foggy that day, and the Great Wall in the distance was even more hazy. The Great Wall "Hero Monument", a monument with the words "If you haven't been to the Great Wall, you are not a hero", is located at the highest point of the "Hero Slope" of the Badaling Great Wall.

By Junnuo Xingbiguo|

According to the latest estimates, the total length of the Great Wall is 21,196.18 kilometers. The Badaling section should be the most crowded section, and the North Eighth Tower section is the most crowded section in Badaling. It is truly one in a million and the most adored of all.

Today we had a very enjoyable day trip to the Great Wall and Ming Tombs. Our tour guide, Zhang Hui, was very nice, patient, humorous, and explained things in detail. The roast duck dinner, which cost only RMB 30 per person, was delicious and not expensive. I also want to thank the driver for his hard work throughout the day.

If you live near Qianmen Street, you can take the tourist bus directly from Qianmen Street, which costs 20 yuan and takes one and a half hours to get to the back mountain. If you have average physical strength, it is recommended to take the cable car to North Sixth, and then climb to the highest North Eighth by yourself. If you still have physical strength, you can continue to climb North Nine, Ten, Eleven, and Twelve. Many tourists stay at North Eighth. North Nine is a bit steep at the beginning, but it has fewer tourists, better scenery, and a better experience.

By China-TravelNote user|

I suggest you don't go to Qianmen Distribution Center to take the tourist bus. It's too rip-off. The 20-yuan bus runs every half an hour, and you have to queue for two hours. It's not because there are too many people, but because there are too few buses. There is also a kind of bus that you pay 150 yuan and you can leave immediately, but it's really not worth it. It includes a meal, but can you eat what you feed pigs? There are buses but they won't let you leave, forcing you to buy expensive ones to leave immediately. Beijingers are like this, you only come once anyway.
It is better to go to Deshengmen and leave when the bus is full.
Just look at the photos and you will know that on the 150 per person side, all the cars are empty. They can’t be sold out, and there are no cars here.

Because my friend stored food downstairs, we didn't go to the south city. It took an hour and a half from North 1 to North 12. The tour groups are usually from North 1 to North 8. Brothers and sisters who want to take pictures can rush to North 12. On the way down, I seemed to see Philippine VIPs visiting, so the road was closed for a while.

Badaling Great Wall
We stayed in Beijing at night and the tour guide urged us to go out early in the morning.
I went to visit the ancient city wall today, but it was late and the traffic was long and congested.
We drove all the way and stopped in the suburbs, where a biting cold wind blew in our faces.
If you haven’t climbed the Great Wall, you are not a true man. Start the journey and take it seriously.
Build high walls outside and repair battlements, and lay low bricks inside to stabilize the foundation.
A two-story enemy tower was built on the top, with soldiers guarding the upper floors.
The lower room provides food and accommodation, and sufficient logistical support and supplies.
When encountering a crisis, use the tower, it is useless to set off smoke signals at night.
The passage is wide and ten people can be lined up in a row, with five horses riding together to provide quick reinforcements.
The ancient people were amazing, with towering mountains and steep cliffs connected as one.
One of the ten wonders of the world, guests from all over the world gathered here.

Queue up at the bus stop at Deshengmen Arrow Tower to take the 877 Badaling Great Wall tourist bus🚌
Note: The journey takes about 70 minutes without traffic jam. It costs 12 yuan in cash and 6 yuan with a bus card. There is a tour guide on the bus who will explain the relevant situation of the Great Wall. Young people can walk up and down the whole journey without any pressure. Cable car and zipline are not recommended.
Don't be fooled by other illegal black cars! They may not take you to the Badaling Great Wall!
【Important Information】:
🍞Breakfast: I remind you again, don’t buy breakfast as soon as you arrive at the Great Wall. There are many more to choose from later.
👎Pitfall: I bought a facial mask (pure flour) for 10 yuan, a pancake (just a piece of ham) for 15 yuan, and two eggs for 8 yuan (those super cheap yellow-shell eggs).
🧗‍Hiking: The Great Wall is divided into the front mountain and the back mountain. Hiking in the back mountain, follow the signs and walk a section of the road to reach the entrance of the back mountain.
The ticket was purchased on a minibus. I thought it was an unreliable scalper when I bought the ticket on the bus. I thought he was not that bold.
Generally, people climb the North Great Wall. It is recommended not to go back the whole way. After reaching the North Eighth Floor, go down to the North Nine, North Ten, and North Eleven.
👉It is recommended to continue climbing after reaching Beiba. There will be fewer people there, and you can do whatever you want and take pictures to your heart’s content.
🚗On the way back: There was a loudspeaker announcing that you can get a free hero certificate with your Great Wall ticket. After you go in, they will take a photo of you📷, and then print a commemorative photo for 30 yuan/photo. I asked if I could do without the photo, and she said, "Then go ahead~!"
After strolling through this section, you will reach the exit. After coming out, you can visit Badaling Bear Park and see the stinky bears.
After watching the bear go down, you can see the sign for bus 877, line up to get on the bus and retreat 🚶.
The Great Wall is like a giant dragon with no end in sight. The mountains are even more precipitous because of the Great Wall, like a giant dragon dancing among the mountains. It is majestic, magnificent, winding and tortuous. It has been around for thousands of years and spans thousands of miles.

Let me tell you about my feelings. On the morning of the fourth day of the Chinese New Year, I took the Beijing Bus Tourism Line 1 behind the Qianmen Arrow Tower. The ticket price was 20 yuan. When there were enough people, one bus would go, and one seat per person. In the middle of the bus, someone explained the precautions for climbing the mountain. Some of the words are just for listening and you can handle them yourself. For example, there are too many people climbing the mountain. If there are elderly people and children, it is best to take a cable car or a trolley to go up. It is safer to sit on the eighth floor of the north to take pictures. If you believe these words, you will miss the fun of climbing. In addition, as long as you are not an elderly person with inconvenient legs and feet, you can generally climb to the eighth floor of the north. Many children aged five or six climb the mountain by themselves. I climbed from the first floor of the north to the eleventh floor of the north with my six-year-old daughter, and we climbed slowly.
The drop-off point for tourist line 1 is near the mountain cable car, while the drop-off point for line 887 is on the other side of the slide. The two lines are just to the left and right of the mountain entrance. The queue for buying tickets is very fast. You still need to wear a hat or something when you go there in winter. The wind is quite strong at the battlement. It feels cold when you just get off the bus, but it will not be cold when you climb the mountain. The slope from the first floor of the north to the fourth floor of the north is relatively gentle, and it is relatively steep from the fifth floor of the north to the eighth floor of the north, but it does not feel as tiring as climbing other mountains. Just follow others and hold the handrails on both sides to go up in steep places. It is estimated that it will take two hours to reach the eighth floor of the north. The eighth floor of the north is the highest. You can go down the mountain along the up and down mountain trails along the Great Wall, or take the cable car down the mountain. My daughter and I set off for the eleventh floor of the north. The slope from the eighth floor of the north to the eleventh floor is steeper and the steps are higher. At this time, the taste of climbing comes out. My daughter often slides down by holding the handrail, and I hold the handrail to control her speed. Only then do I feel sweaty and tired. The steeper the slope, the higher the steps. One arm holds the handrail, and the other arm supports my daughter. The little girl also holds the handrail. There are more bears in the bear park when you get off from North 11th. There is bus No. 877 a little bit below the exit. There are many people and cars, so you can get on the bus quickly. If you still take the tourist line 1, you have to walk more than one kilometer to get to the boarding point, so you can take bus No. 877 from North 11th. The speed of the two buses is about the same. It is recommended to climb the Great Wall in the morning in winter. If you don’t bring children or the elderly, you can play both the North Great Wall and the South Great Wall. The elderly should do what they can.

We took S2 to Badaling. It was terrible that you had to fight for seats. There were tickets for sale on the train, but you had to buy it together with the spherical movie for 170. The tickets to the city were not sold separately. The staff kept misleading everyone that they would have to queue for an hour or two to buy tickets. We mainly wanted to experience the Great Wall and resolutely did not buy tickets. When we arrived at the ticket purchase point, we scanned the QR code and successfully bought tickets in less than a minute. The ticket price was 35. It was off-season, so don't listen to any lies. We climbed with our seven-year-old daughter, who climbed from one o'clock to four-thirty. We did not take the cable car, but walked to North 11th. There is also a bear park at the bottom of North 11th, with many bears, which the children loved.

The cable car ticket is 100 yuan, so I suggest you not take it. The whole journey is only about 500 meters, and it takes about 1.30 hours to walk the entire Great Wall.

The entrances to the Great Wall are not far away, and you can find them on the map.

Take bus 877 to the scenic spot for 12 yuan, walk to the No. 1 exit and then Exit 12, which is equivalent to climbing a small hill.

Take bus No. 877 at Deshengmen, 12 yuan in cash and 6 yuan by card. If you are in good physical condition and not afraid of heights, it is recommended not to take the cable car and the pulley!!! The most difficult part to climb is between Beiba and Beijiu, which is the part in the picture. The distance from Beisi to Beiba is not long. Beijiu has a lower city entrance, and the place to take the pulley is after you get off. I feel that the 120 yuan round trip pulley is like paying tuition!!! A 78-year-old grandmother can do it without taking the cable car. You should be able to do it too.
