Tibetan Lama Tower: A Great Integration of Nationalities

The Beihai White Pagoda, a Tibetan Lama Pagoda on the site of the Guanghan Palace on Qionghua Island, is made entirely of bricks and is white in color. It is 35.9 meters high. In the early Qing Dynasty, Tibetan Buddhism flourished. The stele on which the pagoda was built recorded: "There are lamas from the Western Regions who want to secretly support the emperor's plan with Buddhism and request to build a pagoda and temple to prolong the country and bless the people." In the eighth year of the Shunzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1651), at the request of the Tibetan lama Naomukhan, a Tibetan-style white pagoda was built, a temple was built in front of the pagoda, and the mountain was renamed Baita Mountain.

The tower body is in the shape of a treasure bottle, and the base is a square-shaped Sumeru pedestal with an angled corner. The upper part has two layers of copper umbrella covers, and the top of the tower is equipped with a treasure cover and a treasure top, decorated with sun, moon and flame patterns to show that the Dharma is as radiant as the sun and the moon, forever shining on the earth; the lower part is covered like an ancient bronze bell, with fourteen small bronze bells hanging on the edge that ring in the wind. On the top is a gilded precious stone pagoda top, and inside the tower are Lama scriptures, robes and two relics.

Let's row the oars

The boat pushes away the waves

The beautiful white tower is reflected on the sea

Surrounded by green trees and red walls

The boat floats gently in the water

A cool breeze blew towards me

Red scarf facing the sun

Sunshine on the sea

The fish in the water are looking at us

Listen quietly to our happy singing

The boat floats gently in the water

A cool breeze blew towards me

Finished a day's homework

Let's have fun

I ask you dear friend

Who will arrange a happy life for us?

The boat floats gently in the water

A cool breeze blew towards me

When I see this white tower, I think of this song!

The most eye-catching scenery in Houhai Park, the view from the top is excellent.

The White Pagoda in Beihai Park is famous throughout the country because of the song "Let's Row the Boat Together". When I was a child, I only heard the song but never saw the scenery. This time when I came to Beijing, I specially took time out to come and see it. I felt that the song matched the scenery and it was really beautifully and appropriately sung.

Although the White Pagoda looks close, it is actually quite difficult to walk there because it is very steep.

But the buildings and scenery near the White Pagoda are very unique.

Standing at the highest point of the White Pagoda, you can also see Wanchun Pavilion.

The White Pagoda is the symbol of Beihai Park. The weather is very good today. Looking around from the White Pagoda, you can clearly see Zhongnanhai in the south.

The steps here were very steep, so everyone walked slowly. Finally, after walking up countless steps, we reached the top of the White Tower.
