Treasured with a long history, Cuandixia Village has gone through more than 400 years of time and has completely preserved 74 sets of courtyard houses from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The original ecological ancient village culture, unique feng shui layout, and mountain city form that follows the terrain of the mountain, the Cuan culture is like a pearl shining on the land of western Beijing. There is a Niangniang Temple on the hillside of Cuandixia Village, where you can experience the momentum of the "Little Potala Palace" in the suburbs of Beijing. Cuandixia Village and Cuanbai Scenic Area are on the same road and less than two kilometers apart. People come to travel mainly to see Cuandixia Village. Cuandixia Village. Cuandixia Village is located in Zhaitang Town, Mentougou District, western suburbs of Beijing. It is a village in Chuandixia, and its real name is Cuandixia. It got its name because it was located below the "Cuanli Ankou" (locally known as Cuanditou) in the Ming Dynasty. It is 90 kilometers away from Beijing, 650 meters above sea level, with an average annual temperature of 10.1℃. It has good natural vegetation and is suitable for raising sheep and bees. Cuandixia is one of the ten most beautiful villages in Beijing. The whole village is located on the mountainside, built on the mountain, with different heights, and a river surrounds it. Looking at Cuandixia Village from the opposite side of the mountain, it is like a gold ingot, which can be said to be a Feng Shui treasure land. There is water on the left and right of the village, and the two ancient wells in the village are like longan. All the people in Cuandixia Village are surnamed Han. It is said that they immigrated from Dahuaishuxia, Hongdong County, Shanxi Province in the Ming Dynasty. There are many ancient houses in the village, well-preserved quadrangles, screen walls, gatehouses, etc. There are often students sketching in the village, and the villagers make a living from tourism, leading a rich and comfortable life. After sunset, the moon rises, and the village is so quiet that you can hear the frogs croaking. Bring your children here to experience rural life.

When entering the scenic spot, you have to drive forward after collecting the entrance fee, because the shops at the entrance are full and it is not the village of Cuandixia. There are four villages in the whole scenic spot. I got up early to wander around the village. My mistake was to wear slippers to climb the mountain. It was very cool in the morning, and the sun was blocked by the mountain. It took a while for the sun to shine through. The scenery where the light shines through the top of the mountain is very beautiful. Wandering around the village, the ancient village built in the Ming Dynasty is incredibly beautiful, especially suitable for sketching and summer vacation. Every place is a scenery, and the whole village is very clean.

Last weekend, I checked in at Luanzhou Ancient Town, but I don’t recommend it because it has a strong commercial atmosphere. Looking through the recent special features on ancient towns and villages around Beijing, I found a familiar word - Cuandixia Village.



The last time I went to Cuan Dixia Village was three years ago. At that time, I drove to Mentougou with my parents and passed by this "most beautiful village in Beijing".



I remember that we wandered around in the mountains for several times before we found it. You may not feel the difference when you enter the village, but when you walk into the village, touch the stone walls, and go up to a high place in the streets to overlook the panoramic view of the village, you can really feel the charm of this place - why it is praised as the "Cultural Pearl of Ancient Village" hidden in the deep mountains and valleys in western Beijing



The village is well preserved. Three years ago, there was almost no trace of commerce here, but it was full of historical traces. You may not know the history and culture here, but you can feel the heritage here when you are here.

Transportation: Located in Mentougou District, self-driving is recommended. There are buses that go directly to Cuandixia Village at Pingguoyuan Station. If there are many people, you can also charter a car.

Tickets: 35 yuan/person (I went there three years ago and don’t remember if there was an entrance fee. I checked online and it was 35 yuan)

Accommodation: The village is not big, so you can decide whether to stay here. We stayed in a homestay in Lingshan and did not stay here for long.

Cuandixia Village is worth a visit, a place with a completely preserved history of 6-7 decades. It is a beautiful place with old village ruins from the Ming Dynasty, murals from the Qing Dynasty, reports of meritorious service in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, ruins of houses burned down by the Japanese army during World War II, ruins of anti-Japanese outposts, slogans from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, ancient roads, ancient wells, ancient temples, and ancient theaters, which make people feel the history. It is a village with cultural heritage.

At night, the lights in Cuandixia are very gentle, which makes me feel like I am in a dream. At night, the gentle lights in Cuandixia are looming, which makes people feel as if they are in another world. It is very suitable for a family to come out for a stroll. There is a not very high hillside. Children can also climb to the top with the help of adults, and they can see the whole village. It is also suitable for literary young men and women to come here to experience the unique Chinese courtyard culture.

From Beijing's West Sixth Ring Road, take National Highway 109, and you will reach Cuandixia Village in more than 60 kilometers. The road conditions are good. You can enter the Cuandixia Scenic Area by purchasing a 35-yuan ticket. Eleven years ago, I came to Cuandixia. I was in a hurry and just took a quick look. I saw the buildings and learned how to write the word "Cuan". This year, I came to Cuandixia again and found that the ancient buildings here are cleaner, even newer, there are more parking lots, and more tourists from other places.

Cuandixia is a village sandwiched in the mountain crevices. The terrain is relatively low in the southeast and high in the northwest. A stone road runs through the whole village. The road is curved in the village. The northeast of the arc is relatively wide. The traditional northern dwellings with stone walls and gray tiles are built along the hillside. Several courtyards are built on stone platforms, which are quite spectacular. The effect is better when viewed from the opposite mountain. "Curved road, curved stone platform, and stone dwellings" has become the image of Cuandixia. Because it has produced many officials and scholars, it is quite famous.

According to legend, this village is above this village (there is a Cuanli'ankou outside the north entrance of the village), and this village is below Cuanli'ankou, so it is called "Cuandixia". This time I came here specifically to look for Cuanli'ankou, but I couldn't find it.

I stayed in a homestay in the village for one night. The accommodation conditions were pretty good. The sun was shining brightly in the morning. I visited the whole village again and walked along the scenic trail on the opposite mountain.



The thin line of sky at Cuandixia is the thin line of sky that I remember least. Other scenic spots occasionally have thin line of sky, but the cracks in the rocks are usually straight up and down, while the thin line of sky here is big up and small, and has several turns. What's more special is that this is the only way to Baiyu Village. Due to the unique geographical conditions, several movies have been filmed here. It is said that there was originally an asphalt road under the thin line of sky here, but as more movies were filmed, the dirt road has become the signature of this place, and everyone prefers the thin line of sky on the ground.

The second time we visited the One Line Sky on this trip was on Sunday morning. As expected, the scenery here is very different on sunny, cloudy, windy or rainy days. From time to time, there are vehicles passing through the One Line Sky. Watching the vehicles here is like a time travel between ancient and modern times, and a collision between humanity and nature.

My car passed through the narrow gap in the sky above Cuandixia. The yellow soil raised by the wheels became the dragon's shell. The car was like the dragon's head, and the headlights were the dragon's eyes. The dragon's shell stayed with the car for a long time until it drove out of the narrow gap in the sky.



When you live in a place for a long time, you will find that there are many magical things in this place, which are as magical as poetry. I went to Cuandixia in a hurry last month, and the guide I made was not detailed enough. Although I was satisfied with the combination of meat and vegetables, I made another guide and found that there are waterfalls, small trains, hanging temples, and cliff roads around Cuandixia. An ancient village with good feng shui, but it is a bit troublesome to go there once, it is worth a visit

Before I went there, I imagined Cuandixia to be too beautiful. Although I was not disappointed, the commercial atmosphere has made it no longer a village. Take bus 892 near Pingguoyuan subway station, swipe the card for 7.5 yuan for the whole journey, the terminal station is Zhaitang Town, take a taxi to Cuandixia, and the whole journey only takes 2 hours (7:30-9:30 on Saturday). Too many people have introduced the beauty of Cuandixia, so here I will write something more practical. The price of farm dishes is similar in each family. Home-cooked meat dishes are between 35-55 yuan, vegetarian dishes are about 20 yuan, and special farm dishes are usually 60+. Grilled lamb chops are 200 yuan, a can of Coke is 5 yuan, a bottle of Arctic Ocean is 6 yuan, accommodation is 150 yuan (four-person kang), and breakfast is 10 yuan per person. The overall price is not expensive compared to the city, but it is definitely not cheap, but this place has been commercialized, there is no way. Recommendation: The scallion pancakes in the village are amazing, you must eat them. I have eaten at two of them, and they are both very good.

Cuan Di Xia, this character is similar to the biang (second tone) in the Shaanxi specialty biangbiang noodles in the picture below. Both of them did not exist originally, but were created by humans later. This character Cuan (fourth tone) also has a jingle: Xing (Xing) is the head, Lin (Lin) is the waist, and Da (Da) is under the fire~

Then all the villagers have the surname Han. Can you guess why? Because the fire burned the forest, the more it burned, the hotter it was. The surname Han in Cuandixia Village is homophonic to (Han), which means cold, so it complements the five elements. In the past, you could come in and play without tickets. Now, it is estimated that there are more people coming here and they have started to sell tickets for special rural tours. You can drive in only if you buy a ticket. Then there are several small villages, which can be visited in succession.

As long as you pursue what you want to do, you will succeed. The place I went to this time was a green valley, a place full of wildness. It is very beautiful and its name is Cuandixia. The public service facilities are very complete and there are sufficient parking lots. Private cars can drive into the scenic area, but there are often traffic jams, so it is recommended to park the car outside the scenic area for your convenience. This village group is very local. The residential courtyards are built on the mountain and concentrated in this fan shape. You can climb to the hillside south of the village to enjoy the panoramic view. It is recommended that you can go back after climbing halfway up the hillside. In fact, the scenery is the same if you climb higher. You can consider going to the back of the village for mountaineering. You can visit the residential courtyards in Cuandixia. The higher you go, the longer the history of the houses. You can find a clean farmhouse at noon and rest and play cards here in the afternoon. Other attractions include a line of sky, etc. You need to walk a few kilometers through the village into the mountains.

On a whim, I drove for 3 hours to Cuandixia Village. It is said that the village has a history of more than 400 years. It was already 3 pm when I arrived. I walked around the village along the alley. It felt great. The high stone walls looked very old. I really like the simple feeling of the village, but unfortunately, I heard from the villagers that the government will renovate the village this year. Maybe after the renovation, I will no longer have this feeling... I didn't want to leave at night, so I found a family to stay. It was a little scary at night. Anyway, it is still a place worth visiting! Feel the simplicity before the renovation!

The ticket to Cuanbai Scenic Area is 35 yuan, including Cuandixia Village and Baiyu Village. No parking ticket is required in the off-season. Personally, I think Baiyu is useless. You can drive to Yixiantian to take pictures and then return.

I thought there would be a lot of people when I came here, but I didn't expect there would be so many people! The car was parked far away from the entrance of the village. Tourists leaving the village told me not to drive in, but to find a place to park and walk in. There is an observation deck on the mountain opposite the village, where you can overlook the entire village. Climb up step by step along the climbing steps. The outline of the village becomes clearer with each step you climb. It's really a great view from a high place. From the observation deck, the whole village is fan-shaped, and it really looks like a "yuanbao". Although it is very compact, it is well-arranged, with blue bricks, gray tiles, yellow mud walls, and bustling crowds. If the tourists all change into clothes from the Ming and Qing dynasties, this is the reproduction of the prosperous market town of that time.

The road to the viewing platform is a circular road. We went down the mountain from the top of the village. There is an ancient well at the exit. There are many photos on the wall next to it. After seeing it, I realized that this well is also a "star well". Many movies such as The Warlords have been filmed here. Walking into the village and visiting several courtyards, the impact of the simplicity and heaviness became stronger. We originally planned to stay in Shuanglongxia at night, but we were impressed by the ancient flavor here, so we decided to change our plan and stay here tonight.

The first time I went to Cuandixia was more than 10 years ago, organized by my company. But strangely, I didn't even take a photo to review it! I remember that there was an older villager who gave explanations along the way. Maybe he was the village chief? Or a tour guide trained by the village? I don't remember anything else, but I remember one sentence: Why did women in ancient times "never leave the front door or the back door" and so on.

I tried to remember the writing formula of the word "爨" for several years but couldn't, so I gave up.

When I drove here again, I no longer recognized the main road outside the village, and all the road signs pointed to the "Cuanbai Scenic Area". It was getting bigger and cleaner.

The entrance fee to Cuandixia Village is 35 yuan per person, which is a bit expensive. However, you can still see many tourists in the off-season, so I guess it will be crowded during the peak tourist season, right?

As soon as I entered the village, I saw a bright red paper lantern hanging on a tree. It is not uncommon to hang red lanterns in rural areas, but the place where this lantern was hung always reminded me of the feeling of a "message tree".

The weather on that day was unusually good, with a deep blue sky. The photos I took with my camera without any filters had a greater contrast than what we see with our naked eyes, and the blue was often "scary".

In the dead of winter, the surrounding mountains and fields are a little desolate. Of course, I chose to visit Cuandixia, and it was definitely not for taking pictures of the mountain scenery.

The advantage of coming in winter is that there are fewer tourists, fewer vendors, less noise and noise and it is very quiet; the disadvantage of coming in winter is that there are locks everywhere (probably 90% of commercial facilities are closed), it is less prosperous and more bleak and depressed.

However, there was an open lock hanging on a dilapidated fence gate, which looked quite interesting.

Judging from the layout of the entire Cuandixia Village, the entire village is built in a circular shape with its back against the mountain, so there should be a small ancestral hall-like building on the mountain on one side of the village, perhaps a mountain god temple or a Guandi temple. The color is relatively bright, which is obviously different from the color tone of the entire village.

I went to the Guandi Temple and the small pavilion in front of the temple because it was a commanding point and I wanted to overlook the whole view of Cuandixia Village from there. The weather was good and I felt good to hike up the mountain and walk.

The route to Cuandixia Village from the city: Take Fucheng Road in the city - Fushi Road, go west - turn right at Shuangyu Bridge - Shuangyu Road - Binhe Road - Chengzi Street - Shidan Road - G109, and walk along G109 for a long distance - Zhaibai Road - Cuandixia Village. The road conditions are very good throughout the journey, and there is no need to take the highway.

Accommodation: There are many accommodation options in Cuandixia, all of which are family hotels renovated by villagers. The price of a standard room is 100 yuan. There is also a kang, plus electric heater, 80 yuan for a small room and 120 yuan for a large room. There is also a bathroom in the house, which is not cold at all and quite convenient.

Catering: The eating problem in Cuandixia is basically solved in the hostel where you stay. The general farm meals are moderately priced, and you can eat comfortably for 20-30 yuan per person. In winter, there are few tourists, and you can only see special cars delivering fish, meat and vegetables to each household during the day.

Cuandixia was very popular in the past few years. In fact, it is just a relatively primitive village, but you can indeed see traces of people’s previous lives here.

It is more convenient to drive there by yourself, but taking a car is a little more troublesome.

The whole village is quite big, but there is no tourist route. You can just walk around and see which family was a wealthy family back then. It's very interesting.

Baiyu has no special features, so it just built a big theater. Yixiantian is mainly due to the influence of "The Tou Ming Zhuang". You can drive into the scenic area, and every village has a parking lot. You can go around in half a day. The only one worth staying for a while is Cuandixia, which has mountains, temples, scenery, and culture. In short, you can go and see it when you have time. Living in the city for a long time, it is rare to see such distinctive villages.
