The Forbidden City is located in the center of Beijing, 1km north of Tiananmen Square, and opposite the South Gate of Jingshan. The Forbidden City is surrounded by a moat, and inside the moat is a 3km-long, nearly 10-meter-high city wall. There are gates on all four sides of the wall, including Wumen in the south, Shenwumen in the north, Donghuamen in the east, and Xihuamen in the west. There are also four corner towers at the four corners of the wall, with unique shapes and exquisite details.
The Forbidden City can be roughly divided into two parts: the south is the working area, namely the outer court; the north is the living area, namely the inner court. All its buildings are arranged on the central axis, symmetrical from east to west. There is also a small and unique imperial garden to the north of the living area, which is the place for royal family members to play.
Some palaces in the Forbidden City now house comprehensive exhibitions and house a large number of ancient art treasures. It is the museum with the richest collection of Chinese cultural relics.

I am a history lover who has been to the Forbidden City many times. I found a less crowded route: from the Meridian Gate wall → through the Donghua Gate → down the Shenwu Gate wall. [This route is recommended to friends who have been to the Forbidden City].
This route allows you to overlook the Forbidden City and enjoy the feeling of being high above. The yellow glazed tiles are gleaming in the sun, and are arranged in rows.
If the weather is particularly good, you can also see the West Mountain in the distance and feel a sense of penetration.
Most importantly, there aren’t too many people on this route right now!
The Forbidden City is a popular tourist attraction. The Forbidden City is also very popular recently. Tickets: 60, you need to make an online reservation, it is almost impossible to buy tickets on the spot! You can make a reservation by searching for Forbidden City tickets on WeChat! There are morning sessions and afternoon sessions. Note: You must enter the morning session before 12 o'clock! Otherwise, it will be invalid~ The ticket collection location is on the east side of Yanque Gate! Ask the staff and you will find it~ If you want to see it well, do your homework in advance, it will take at least half a day. If you are in a hurry, take the central axis~~ Then go to Jingshan, you can see the panoramic view! Recently, the city wall climbing has been opened! Go up too!
The Forbidden City in Beijing is the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties in China. It was formerly known as the Forbidden City. It is located at the center of Beijing's central axis and is the essence of ancient Chinese palace architecture. The Forbidden City in Beijing is centered on the three main halls, covers an area of 720,000 square meters, and has a construction area of about 150,000 square meters. There are more than 70 palaces of various sizes and more than 9,000 houses. It is one of the largest and most intact ancient wooden structures in the world.
After waiting in line for half a day, I passed the security check and entered the Forbidden City. After visiting the Forbidden City, I found that the architecture of the Forbidden City is better than any other place. The Forbidden City covers a total area of 720,000 square meters, and the total construction area is about 150,000 square meters. It is magnificent and magnificent. According to traditional Chinese culture, it is located at the center of the central axis of Beijing. It can be said to be the essence of ancient Chinese palace architecture.

It is one of the largest and most well-preserved ancient wooden structures in the world. The Forbidden City in Beijing is known as the first of the five largest palaces in the world and is listed as a "World Cultural Heritage" by UNESCO. The size of the Forbidden City is hard to describe. I have not been able to walk through it all the way through the Forbidden City several times.
To buy tickets to enter the Forbidden City from the Meridian Gate, it is recommended that you make an appointment online one day in advance, and then bring your ID card to swipe through security check to enter.
The peak season starts on April 1st, and the period before that is the off-season. Tickets can be purchased on the off-season day.
The main attractions are the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Preserving Harmony, the Hall of Earthly Tranquility, the Palace of Compassion and Tranquility. If you are interested, you can go to the Palace of Prosperity [smile][smile][smile][smile]
The key chains and bookmarks in the souvenir shop are quite interesting [smile][smile][smile]
Most tourists who come to Beijing for the first time will consider the Forbidden City as a must-see place. The Forbidden City, also known as the Forbidden City, was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and is also the symbol and symbol of ancient China. When you are in the majestic and orderly high walls and deep courtyards, you can truly feel its former glory. The long history has left behind large-scale precious buildings and countless cultural relics here, which has also become the main attraction of visiting the Forbidden City today. Visit the ancient building complex The Forbidden City is a very well-preserved and large-scale ancient wooden structure complex in China and even in the world. These magnificent buildings can be divided into two major parts: the "outer court" and the "inner court". With Qianqing Gate as the boundary, the outer court to the south of Qianqing Gate is where the emperor handles government affairs, and the inner court to the north is where the harem concubines live and where the emperor's family lives. Walking through the Golden Palace, the Qianqing Palace, and the Kunning Palace, and admiring the flowers and plants in the emperor's imperial garden, it feels like traveling through a costume drama. Appreciating a large number of precious cultural relics There are a large number of precious cultural relics in the Forbidden City, according to statistics, there are millions of them. There are several exhibition halls according to the types of cultural relics. Among them, the Treasure Hall and the Clock Hall are very eye-catching. The Clock Hall has clock demonstrations at 11:00 and 14:00 every day. You can see various strange mechanical clocks collected by the Qing Dynasty, which will definitely open your eyes. Tour route The Forbidden City covers a large area, with more than 70 palaces of various sizes, and many tour routes. If you want to take a good tour, you need to arrange a day. If you just want to take a quick look at the main palaces, you can finish the tour in two hours.
On the afternoon of Women's Day, I went to the Forbidden City with my female compatriots. We ran into the security check for an hour during the two sessions, and finally caught up with the afterglow of the Forbidden City at sunset. The pigeons circling in front of the Meridian Gate told us about the desolation of the Forbidden City. The concave city foundation was as majestic as a rainbow, which was amazing. Passing through layers of red doors, I stood on the white marble steps of the Hall of Supreme Harmony. An inexplicable shock stirred in my heart. The supreme imperial power of the feudal dynasty was in front of me. This place carried the glory of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and also experienced those bloody storms. Behind the Hall of Central Harmony and the Hall of Preserving Harmony are the three palaces where the emperor and empress lived, the Palace of Heavenly Purity, the Hall of Union and Peace, and the Palace of Earthly Tranquility. The architectural form of the Forbidden City is majestic and solemn, with a rigorous layout, reflecting the pattern of the front court and the back bedroom. It is no exaggeration to say that the greatest contribution of the Ming and Qing dynasties, especially the Qing dynasty, to us is these great buildings.
The Forbidden City, also known as the Imperial Palace, was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is also the symbol and emblem of ancient China and the largest and most intact ancient wooden structure in the world. Probably the most attractive place in China for me is the Forbidden City.
I went there for two days in a row. It was Chinese New Year and there were exhibitions to see in the Forbidden City.
It's a very festive exhibition. Once you enter the Shenwu Gate, walk to the right and you'll see the entrance to the exhibition. The exhibition mainly features themes related to the Chinese New Year. I think it's very good.
The number of people on weekends and weekdays cannot be compared. There are really a lot of people on weekends. I personally think that the least people enter the Forbidden City around 2 pm. Otherwise, you should arrive early in the morning and rush to the front to enter the park. You may even be able to take pictures of the Hall of Supreme Harmony without anyone there.
After entering, you can avoid the crowds and take photos of the Six Palaces and the Treasure House. There are still very few people in the Treasure House on weekends. Most people are concentrated in the three main halls.
With the popularity of "Story of Yanxi Palace", Yanxi Palace has also become a popular place. But what I want to say is that Yanxi Palace has been burned down before. What has been built now is the most special palace in the Forbidden City - Crystal Palace. It is a Western-style palace and very special.
The Forbidden City celebrates Chinese New Year ~ We went there on the 12th day of the first lunar month. It snowed in Tianjin and Beijing the day before. Although it was very cold, there were still a lot of people 🙈 We had student tickets so it was 20 yuan (the Forbidden City regular ticket is 40 yuan per person in the off-season and 60 yuan per person in the peak season. Make an appointment in advance and buy tickets online). It’s really a good deal!!!
The order of the tour was Duanmen, Wumen, the front three halls and the back three halls, then the East Six Palaces, and then through the back of the Imperial Garden to the Cining Palace and the West Six Palaces. In between, we visited the New Year theme exhibition in front of the Qianqing Palace and various Forbidden City cultural and creative stores 😆 (ps: I was so happy to find a bracelet that had been out of stock online for a long time in a cultural and creative store in the Imperial Garden!) The line to see the Yanxi Palace was so long that we gave up. In fact, the Jingren Palace and the Cining Palace are both worth seeing, especially the Cining Palace and the Cining Palace Garden, which are newly opened.
When taking photos, I saw many young ladies wearing Hanfu. In fact, if we take photos, we can find a red wall and shoot from bottom to top, or in the corners of the side halls next to the first three halls to take beautiful photos.
(Sun) I recommend the small square in front of the Cining Palace Sculpture Museum. The place in the first picture has relatively few people, many seats for rest, and the red wall opposite the seats is very good for taking pictures. I strongly recommend it! I took a nap here at noon. I was a little nervous about sleeping in the Forbidden City. I was afraid that I would travel through time when I woke up. (Grimace)
The Forbidden City has been really popular in the past two years, with its red walls, snow scenes, cats, cultural creations, palace fighting dramas... Last year, the Palace of Imperial Concubine Yan became popular again after the Shufangzhai, but in my heart, the high and low red walls of the Forbidden City are the most charming. (Sexy)
For this reason, I researched what to wear that day before I set out. I personally recommend white, blue, and yellow dresses. Pure colors are more colorful. In the end, I chose yellow. After all, red and yellow are the main colors of the Forbidden City, and it feels more harmonious. (Although it looks like scrambled eggs with tomatoes)
(Charming) The filming locations are basically (thumbnail) the high red wall outside the Cining Palace, (thumbnail) the low red wall in the Imperial Garden, (thumbnail) the red wall of the tree shadows in the harem near the Yanxi Palace. (If there are too many people to take photos, you can choose to go to the high wall outside the Cining Palace, where the flow of people is relatively small. There are more people in the harem and the Imperial Garden near the Yanxi Palace, but you don’t need to queue up. After all, there are too many red walls in the Forbidden City, and there is always a section for you!)
Most of the shooting compositions refer to the generous sharing of experts on China-TravelNote and Xiaohongshu. If you are interested, you can do your homework in advance~~~
Forbidden City:
Entering from Duanmen, you will soon reach Wumen. I have the impression that Wumen is used for beheading. This is a sequelae of watching too many ancient dramas. Wumen is really tall. Look at the foreigners next to it, and then look at the comparison between it and the city wall. It is hard to imagine how the army used their lives to break through such a magnificent Chinese castle when there were no siege machines! In addition to the ladder and wooden pillars to attack the main gate, this city wall is much taller and more powerful than the ancient city wall of Xi'an!
Entering the Meridian Gate is like entering the scenic area! The most obvious feeling is that it is really wide. Walking from one corner of the city wall to the other corner of the city wall is longer than running a full circle of a standard playground. The walls here are basically red and yellow tiles, the colors of the emperor.
There are many white marble railings inside, and most of the railing pillars are carved with coiled dragons! Continue forward and you will reach the Taihe Gate. This kind of gate and palace usually has stairs that need to be climbed up, but the part facing the main gate usually does not have stairs, but a large piece of white marble with dragons carved on it.
Go forward through the Qianqing Gate and you will reach the Qianqing Palace, where the emperor handles daily affairs and sleeps. To the back is the Kunning Palace, where the empress lives. Behind it is the Imperial Garden, which has everything from rockery to running water and green plants.
Today, let's talk about time and money.
Please see the picture: sundial. A sundial consists of an inclined dial face and a gnomon perpendicular to the dial face. It is a timer used by our ancestors, that is, a clock. The shadow of the gnomon points to the scale on the dial face, which is the time at that time. For example, 3:45 p.m., is it familiar?
A sundial is placed on the east side of the steps of the Hall of Supreme Harmony in the Forbidden City, implying that the time is divinely appointed.
The saying “time is money” comes from this. Time passes by in the conversion between “light” and “darkness”, so cherish it!
When looking at the top of the sundial from the vernal equinox to the autumnal equinox, and when looking at the bottom of the sundial from the autumnal equinox to the vernal equinox of the following year, the sum of the inclination angle between the sundial face and the horizontal plane and the local latitude is 90 degrees!
If you are interested in traditional culture, please continue to pay attention. Next time I will share the noon time, it will make you jump with fear, haha
One of the ancient capitals of the Six Dynasties, it was the capital of the Ming and Qing dynasties!
The Forbidden City, also known as the Forbidden City, is now the Palace Museum. It is solemn and sacred, magnificent and time-honored. Walking into the Forbidden City is like walking into half of Chinese history, with red walls and green tiles!
Tips
Make an appointment online in advance at the Forbidden City. The number of places open each day is limited. It is currently the off-season, so it is basically not full. Make an appointment in advance during the peak season. You can enter by swiping your ID card on site. Most museums in China are closed on Mondays, so please note!
〖route〗
Entering the Meridian Gate and the three main halls on the central axis, the flow of people is the most dense, but if you want to climb up and look far into the distance and feel the magnificent momentum, it is recommended that you find a tour guide to learn about the history!
If you don’t want to squeeze in with the crowds, you can bypass the three main halls and enter the six east and west palaces. There are very few people there and you can take all kinds of great photos by just finding a wall!
〖Match〗
To match the colors of the Forbidden City, you can wear colorful clothes and blend in!
When traveling to Beijing, the most interesting place is the Forbidden City.
It is not very cold in Beijing at the end of February. I went to visit the Forbidden City the day after the Lantern Festival.
The Forbidden City is best viewed when it is snowy or blue. Although I didn’t see snow, I happened to see a sunny day.
Entering the Forbidden City, ah, no, I prefer to call it the Forbidden City; I really fell in love with this place with red walls, yellow tiles and green bricks. It seems that I can see the emperor attending court, the concubines paying respects to the queen, and the maids and eunuchs busy at work.
The places that left the deepest impression on me were the Imperial Garden and the Yanxi Palace.
While strolling in the Imperial Garden, the scene of "Little Swallow" from Princess Huanzhu climbing trees and catching birds appeared in front of my eyes, and the lyrics - "There was a girl, she was a little naughty and a little willful"; "You are the wind, I am the sand~" echoed in my ears.
I wanted to visit the Yanxi Palace just because I had watched Story of Yanxi Palace. It turns out that the Yanxi Palace was the "Crystal Palace", but it was abandoned before it was completed. It has a European-style architecture and does not match the style of the entire Forbidden City.
If I come to Beijing again, I hope it will be a snowy day and I can wander around the Forbidden City again.
When it was time to open, I followed the crowd into the Meridian Gate to see the special exhibition "Celebrating the Chinese New Year in the Forbidden City" that I had been looking forward to. There were a lot of people today, so I didn't have time to look carefully. Basically, I lined up in front of the display case, took a lot of effort to take pictures, and then left.
There were too many people, I couldn't take a full picture, and finally I was pushed to the front by the crowd behind me. This is my favorite palace lantern, it's so exquisite!
After seeing this exhibition, I realized that there are many kinds of door gods, and different door gods are posted in different places.
The door gods of the Qing Palace would be taken down after being hung during the Spring Festival and stored in the door god library in the palace to be used again next year. The Qing Palace stipulated that if a door god was broken, it had to be repaired and used again. I am a little greedy, it would be nice if I could hear the palace music;
It is very interesting to use small animations to show ice skating, a bit like figure skating + acrobatics, which is very interesting.
The ice skates of the Qing Dynasty were truly amazing. Even with such simple shoes one could perform such difficult moves.
The auspicious candles are so exquisite, they are simply works of art. I guess no one would be willing to light them.
I finally saw the style lightning-style building mentioned in "National Treasure 2". Thanks to the craftsmen of the Forbidden City for years of research, they equipped the Forbidden City with a talisman - the lightning rod.
A few regrets about this trip to the Forbidden City.
1. As the Art Gallery was currently exhibiting the "Han Meilin's Twelve Zodiac Art Exhibition", I did not see the "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" and Li Bai's cursive script "Shangyangtaitie" mentioned in "National Treasure".
2. There were too many people and I couldn’t squeeze in, so I didn’t see the “large vases with various glaze colors” mentioned in “National Treasure”.
It snowed in Beijing on March 14th, so I did not choose to go to Beijing, thinking that I would not have to brave the snow if I went on the 15th, and I should be able to see the encounter between the Forbidden City and the snow. The ideal is beautiful, but the reality is cruel, the snow melted.
I had originally planned to see the Forbidden City cleared, but there were too many people and my phone ran out of battery.
Remember the Lantern Festival Night in the Forbidden City.
January fifteenth.
I love the Forbidden City more and more.
✔First of all, if you don't have a ticket and want to go, you must arrive at Wumen before 6 o'clock, that is, arrive at Donghuamen or Xihuamen at 5:45, which is the time on the 19th. I don't know if it will be earlier today, the 20th. Of course, it's a separate story for those who have tickets.
✔The overall effect and the feeling of the scene are far beyond the realm of friends circle and photos. A 5-meter LED light source illuminates the Meridian Gate, Taihe Gate, Corner Tower, Shenwu Gate and the connected city walls. Everyone is crowded on the central axis road, and every change of the light beam attracts people to record or take pictures happily.
✔Time: 6:30pm to 9:30pm, so if you didn’t get a good spot, just wait a little bit, there will always be those who have enjoyed taking photos and leave first.
✔I went there again today and it made me happy. Really happy.
The roads around the Forbidden City are all controlled. I wanted to take West Street but found that it was not allowed, so I had to ask the driver to recalculate the price. After passing the north gate of the Forbidden City, I went around to the east gate and got off to walk. When I arrived at the east gate, I saw a notice. I could only follow the crowd and enter from the south gate. It was about 8:30, and there were already a lot of people. There were already many tourists gathered at the south gate of the Forbidden City. There was also the frozen Tongzi River. After swiping their ID cards to enter, everyone started taking pictures. After ticket inspection, I saw that the square outside was still crowded with people. In the past, when I traveled to various places, every time I went to temples and the like, I would always compare the number of door nails with those of the Forbidden City. Now that I have come to the Forbidden City, I have finally seen the largest number of door nails. After passing the first gatehouse, there were still a lot of people. But the Forbidden City is really big, so there is no pressure to accommodate them. There are many people on the central axis of the Forbidden City, but very few people on the side.
This time the activity was to take my parents on a check-in tour. I didn’t have much knowledge about the culture beforehand, so I just took pictures of whatever I could see.
This is where the emperor held court. There are really few people on the non-main roads.
Various sculptures on the roof. A closer look revealed that the windows here are all carved with very delicate dragons. I thought the Forbidden City was very large and there shouldn't be many places to rest, so I brought a folding chair. However, the facilities here are not bad. There are many seats on both sides of each hall for tourists to rest. We came to the harem, where there are toilets and various shops. The most famous one is the Nine Dragon Wall. Then I walked into the museum and met a tourist wearing a dragon robe, which was not good-looking at all. The pine trees here are very short and very distinctive.
Without looking at the treasure house or the clock house, we continued to walk towards the north gate. There was an endless stream of tourists.
The Forbidden City is a city that requires angles. The magnificent palace requires gorgeous angles, the exquisite design requires delicate angles, and also, we need to avoid the angles of tourists.
The Forbidden City is a city that needs to be visited repeatedly, once to remember, once to understand, once to feel...
Recommended route: If you want to take photos or experience it, it is recommended not to walk along the central axis in the morning. You can start from the left side of the Hall of Supreme Harmony and visit the central axis last, which can avoid a large number of tour groups.
Recommended shooting angles: shoot the side profile and details of the scenery, and shoot the portraits in blind spots (choose a road with few people, with the city wall as the background; or shoot from above)
I bought a power bank on the east side of the east entrance of the Forbidden City (next to the grilled sausages on the right) for 140 yuan. The seller said it could charge 4 mobile phones and was 20,000 amps. But it couldn't even be used for a third of a charge. There were only 4 batteries in it. It was a complete scam. My son and I got separated today. He called me but couldn't get through. The most frightening thing happened. I went to two police stations from 2:30 to 6:00 today to call the police to find him! Fortunately, I found him in the end, but I was so upset that I can't describe it. After finding my child, I immediately threw the damn power bank away, for fear that I would be unhappy if I saw it in the future.
There are such unscrupulous merchants in this 5A tourist attraction right under the feet of the emperor. Let us all take warning.
The day before New Year's Eve, my boss gave me a day off in advance, so I went to the Forbidden City, which I had been longing to visit. I thought that since it was the end of the year, there would be fewer people on the buses and subways, so this attraction would definitely have fewer people. As a result, everyone came to the Forbidden City.
After getting off the subway, I queued up for security check. I thought I'd take a detour and go through Xihuamen. I ended up going to Wumen. After about an hour, I finally got into Wumen. However, there were queues at the cultural and creative shops for souvenirs, the coffee shops, the clock museum, and the treasure museum. Not only were there queues, but you had to squeeze into any of the palace gates. I gave up and went to Di'anmen for lunch, planning to wait until the Forbidden City cooled down before going there.
Friendly Tips:
The off-season ticket price for the Forbidden City is 40 yuan, the Treasure House is 10 yuan, and the Clock House is 10 yuan. To see the Nine Dragon Wall and Zhenfei Well, you have to go into the Ningshou Palace from the Treasure House.
Tickets must be purchased online in advance and can be refunded or changed if not consumed before 8pm on the day of the visit.
When we went there, it was very quick. We were in the Forbidden City in just five minutes. There were not many tourists coming to Beijing before the New Year, so everything went smoothly.
The first thing we did when entering the Forbidden City was to rent an automatic tour guide. This tour guide will sense the location of the tourists and then play the explanation. It is available at almost every point and is quite practical.
We toured according to this route, and it took about half a day to complete the tour, but it is a rare visit to the Forbidden City, so half a day is definitely necessary. If you have enough time, you can stay in the Forbidden City for a whole day for a better tour.
If you want to have a deeper understanding of the Forbidden City, it is far from enough to rely on explanations. I recommend that you watch a documentary about the Forbidden City before coming to the Forbidden City in Beijing, so that you can first understand the relevant history and cultural relics, so as to have a better experience. I love history, especially the history of the Kangxi and Qianlong prosperity, so I have a different feeling for the Forbidden City. Walking through the palaces where the people I love have lived, I seem to be a little closer to their lives and have a more intuitive understanding.
It should be noted that you need to make an appointment in advance or buy tickets online for the Forbidden City. I walked around the key areas of the Forbidden City in 5 hours. In addition, many friends asked how to take good photos of tourist attractions such as the Forbidden City. My experience is: avoid peak hours, leave the central axis, look for side halls, take various upward shots (the kind that look up to the sky), zoom in on the people in the scenery, and try to capture details.
There were so many people and a lot of security guards.
There are four security checks in total.
The first one is at an intersection 200 meters away from Donghuamen. Security guards block it with railings and someone uses a loudspeaker to shout at people with tickets to line up. You have to say you have a ticket before the guards will let you line up.
The second step was to queue up and show the appointment text message. There were too many people around and it was too chaotic. Some people were secretly transferring text messages to each other. The checker took a quick look and let the person in.
The third checkpoint is at Donghuamen, where there are people checking text messages at the door. The previous two security checks were crowded and messy, so it was easy to get in, but there were also fewer spectators who came to join in the fun, so the check at this checkpoint is stricter and the appointment text messages will be carefully checked.
After entering, I saw the Forbidden City Lantern Festival, which was so shocking.
Only the square and the city wall are open for night activities. When you enter the square, the lights are so dazzling and look really nice.
I spent Chinese New Year in the Forbidden City. I had never seen this exhibition. I had been planning to pick a date to see it before the exhibition ended, but this time the city walls were open at night, and naturally these exhibition halls on the walls were also open. What a surprise!
Red lanterns, festive exhibition hall, and particularly exquisite palace lanterns.
Walk along the city wall until you reach Shenwu Gate, where red lanterns are hung all over the city wall.
Standing on the city wall, you can see unopened areas that are not visible on weekdays. The Forbidden City at night is brightly lit and bustling with people, but the depths are still solemn and dignified, or even desolate.
There are different scenery on both sides of the city wall.
A city wall separates more than just a hundred years of time.
After passing the corner tower, we are almost at the Shenwu Gate. On the roof of this building, a picture of a thousand miles of rivers and mountains is projected.
This night tour of the Forbidden City is over!
The Forbidden City only accepts online bookings, which can be found on the official website. Enter the Forbidden City from the Meridian Gate. There are audio guides available at the entrance for 20/person, in multiple languages. The whole process is to listen to teacher Wang Gang telling stories. It took about 4 hours to walk around. I must say that there are many physical stores in the Forbidden City, but they are very messy, the display effect is not good, there is no sense of luxury, the product pictures in the online store do not make you want to buy, and the products are not very complete. Maybe the online store is a real store. (I heard about the Forbidden City online store after I came back, and it has opened in Shanghai. I will go there tomorrow...)
The Forbidden City is the essence of ancient Chinese palace architecture! Every time you go there, you will have a different feeling. Spring, summer and autumn show different beautiful scenery. Every time you go there, you will have a different feeling. It is a place worth visiting many times! Feel the magnificent momentum of the three main halls, feel the joys and sorrows of the six palaces in the east and west, and feel the cultural heritage. The Forbidden City is crowded with tourists most of the time. This is a problem that people cannot solve, but in such an environment, you will still feel that this trip is worth it, and you will also feel that one trip is not enough. Especially after seeing a lot of Forbidden City culture, you will want to explore more! The Forbidden City is a good place for you to visit!
I heard that you have to buy tickets online in advance to enter the Forbidden City, so I booked the morning session tickets online early. After arriving at the site, I saw that you can also buy the same-day admission tickets by scanning the QR code at the entrance, maybe because winter is the off-season for tourism in Beijing. Anyway, it is better to book in advance to be more assured!
We chose to visit the central axis and part of the route on the right. Walking through the entire Forbidden City is too big, and I am afraid it will be a bit tiring. There are always some trade-offs. There were not many people in the attractions we visited a few days ago, and there were no tourists at Mutianyu Great Wall. Today, when we came to the Forbidden City, we finally felt the feeling of a crowded attraction. However, there are ways to take photos with fewer people. It is still okay to take photos not on the central axis.
The Forbidden City is full of group tourists and tour guides. We can walk around and ask for a tour guide whenever we want. It is more meaningful to listen to the simple explanations of other group tourists' tour guides and then appreciate these palaces.
I know that the Forbidden City has its own merits in each season. You can enjoy flowers in spring, deer in summer, ginkgo in autumn, and snow in winter. The Forbidden City in autumn is stunningly beautiful, with carved beams and painted buildings, and every brick and tile is dyed with autumn colors.
Walking casually in any corner of the Forbidden City, you can feel the gentleness of autumn. The sun likes to cast the shadows of the trees on the red walls, the breeze likes to carry the fallen leaves on the ground, and occasionally the Forbidden City cats walk leisurely over the eaves. Everything in the Forbidden City is infected by autumn.
As the crowd was pushed forward step by step, although the Forbidden City was large, it was occupied from all sides by the numerous tourist groups.
If you are short on time, you might as well choose to visit the highlights. This time I took the west route because I felt that the east route at the Palace of Imperial Concubine Zhenhua would be very crowded. As it turned out, the west route was indeed relatively quieter.
Every little corner has a feeling of peaceful time. When touring the Forbidden City, one will unconsciously slow down his pace. Even the most ordinary bricks, tiles and stones seem to be given new life in the Forbidden City. Their existence is value.
This is my second time visiting the Forbidden City, and this time I feel like I've finally seen it all. Tickets for the Forbidden City are now purchased online with an ID card. It's necessary to rent an audio guide at the entrance, 20 yuan each, and no deposit is required. The explanations are very detailed, and there is a map at the back, so it's very convenient to visit by following the map. Because it's the off-season, the entrance stops at 3:30 p.m., so there are very few tourists, and it's great to be able to take pictures of the Forbidden City when there's no one there.
Ticket purchase channel: China-TravelNote 50.5 (including Treasure Hall + Watch Hall)
No need to pick up tickets, just swipe your ID card to enter the park quickly. You can also swipe your ID card to enter the Treasure Hall and the Clock Hall later.
The architectural details and tree planting in the Forbidden City are very particular, and the aesthetics are pleasing to the eye.
Passing through one palace gate after another, how deep is the courtyard?
There are two different worlds inside and outside the city walls. One can’t help but wonder if the people living here must be very lonely.
How desolate would this Forbidden City be without love, pursuit and hope?
Some tips for visiting the Forbidden City:
Ticket purchase: You need to book tickets in advance on the official WeChat account of the Palace Museum. You can choose a date up to 10 days in advance and enter the museum on the day by swiping your ID card.
If you want to take photos of a relatively empty Forbidden City, it is recommended to avoid weekends and holidays, and arrive before 8 o'clock to queue up and be the first to enter for a visit.
When I came to the Forbidden City again, I had to make an appointment. This was the most important stop of my trip to Beijing, and it was worth it. When I found the Qingming Shanghe Tu 3.0 interactive exhibition that day, when the three of us successfully grabbed the tickets at twelve o'clock in the morning, when we entered the exhibition hall and saw the Qingming Shanghe Tu scroll, when we sat in a small boat and swam in the painting. After a thousand years, we are still drifting on the river, and I want to bend down and hold a cup of clear water to keep the past years.
"If you were given a chance to travel through time, would you go to the palace?" My friend said after visiting the Forbidden City that she would not. Rent an automatic guide, travel around the Forbidden City, stop at every Forbidden City cultural and creative store, and let the cultural relics come alive. This place welcomes guests from all over the world every day. Whether you are interested in it or not, it will always be a stop for people to check in. I hope that one day, it will no longer be midsummer, and there will no longer be so many people, and I can have a quiet conversation with the Forbidden City.
For kids from the south, seeing the river frozen is a very exciting thing.
The scenery outside the Forbidden City walls is also very beautiful.
This year, the Palace Museum wishes everyone a happy New Year! Go up the right-hand staircase of the Noon Gate, and you will see all the tools used in the Palace to celebrate the New Year. You can take your time to look at them.
There are many visitors, and you can get free Bluetooth earphones for explanation. We arrived early, so we got Bluetooth earphones easily. If you come later, you may not get them...
We entered the scenic area at 8:30, and when we finished visiting the exhibition, it was almost 11 o'clock in the afternoon. Time flies so fast, and the crowds are constantly surging. It is not easy to take some photos with fewer people.
When visiting the Forbidden City, I think you must buy a combined ticket for the Treasure House and the Clock House. It is very valuable, especially the Treasure House, which covers such a large area.
Qianlong's stage is really amazing. You have to go into the ticket counter of the Treasure House to see it.
Dongtongzi - various places with concave shapes. There are many such places with concave shapes in Beijing. If you travel during the peak season, the Forbidden City is definitely not a good place.
After posing, I continued to stroll around your Yeongee Palace. Isn't it a big difference?
I walked around the Forbidden City for 8 hours, stopping here and there to stroll around.
The Forbidden City is very big, and the palaces and gates inside are all very big and magnificent, but some palaces are not allowed to enter, which is a bit disappointing. There are also many exhibits in the museum, and it is really worth the trip. The Emperor's Hall of Mental Cultivation is under renovation and cannot be seen. By the way, it is easy to get lost in the Forbidden City. If you can visit it, it is recommended to reserve about two and a half hours to visit it. Try to rent an automatic guide, which is not expensive for 20 yuan, and there is a map on it, so it is more interesting to visit it.
Although we visited the Forbidden City on a weekday and not a holiday, we were still shocked by the crowds of tourists the moment we entered. Colorful flags of various tour groups were fluttering. Mijiu and I were the kind of people who had no interest in sightseeing because of the huge crowds. In addition, we were both directionally challenged and had trouble finding locations even when looking at the map. Most of the palaces were surrounded by railings and we could only view them from a distance from the outside. So we were listless in the first few hours, wandering around aimlessly like headless flies, taking a look around.
It was already sunset when we left the Treasure House. The number of tourists in the Forbidden City had become sparse. We were followed by two staff members who urged us to leave. Although it was a little cramped, the empty and solemn Forbidden City at this moment was enough to make up for the little embarrassment. We shamelessly walked towards the Hall of Supreme Harmony under the urging of the staff, and took pictures with our cameras whenever we had the chance.
The Forbidden City at this time is really charming. In the evening, flocks of crows fly by from time to time, and rows of crows land on the eaves, like a silhouette painting. It is said that crows are sacred birds of the Manchu people. With their cries, this scene is enough to make people feel solemn.
The surrounding white stone railings were coated with a thick layer of golden light by the setting sun.
After the tourists dispersed, the spaciousness of Taihe Square and the majesty of the Hall of Supreme Harmony finally stood out, which was completely different from the huge crowds in the morning. At this time, you would rather call the "Forbidden City" the "Forbidden City".
I think people who have a rich understanding of the cultural heritage of the Forbidden City will definitely feel more touched when they come here. After all, every brick, tile, flower and tree here carries the depth of history and has endless allusions.
When you come to Beijing, you must visit the Forbidden City! I booked the tickets online the night before.
As the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Forbidden City has more than 70 palaces of various sizes and more than 9,000 houses. When I watched harem dramas before, I thought it was really hypocritical that the concubines had to sit in sedan chairs at every turn. After I went there, I found that if you walk back to the palace on the bottom of the flower pots, it would take two or three hours. Interestingly, although the Forbidden City is large, in fact, except for the "three major halls" used for government affairs and some large palaces in the inner court, the locations of the various palaces are not particularly spacious.
Moreover, in these palaces, concubines lived in the main hall, and noble ladies lived in the side halls. A bunch of women crowded together, let alone serving a man, even if they were simply neighbors, they would quarrel every few days.
I have been to the Forbidden City as early as 2016, but at that time the Forbidden City was not as popular as it is today. It can be said that 2018 is a year of rapid development for the Forbidden City, especially the broadcast of rare museum documentaries in China such as "National Treasure" and "I Repair Cultural Relics in the Forbidden City", which made the Forbidden City, the last imperial inner city in China, very popular. In addition, documentaries and variety shows about the Forbidden City have used the short video dissemination method that young people like and invited celebrities to give lectures, attracting countless fans to come.
In addition, Qing Dynasty dramas such as "Story of Yanxi Palace" and "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace" were released one after another. Although they were not filmed in the Forbidden City, they also promoted the beauty of the Forbidden City. So this time I came here and obviously felt that the flow of people was a lot larger.
Although the Forbidden City opens 80,000 tickets every day, it is still hard to get a ticket on weekends and holidays. Fortunately, the Forbidden City keeps pace with the times and has opened the WeChat [Forbidden City Ticketing System]. We booked today's tickets online yesterday. After arriving at the Forbidden City, there is no need to pick up the ticket. You can enter directly by swiping your ID card. The Forbidden City tickets can be pre-sold up to ten days in advance. It is better to book as early as possible during holidays.
The Forbidden City is so large that it is not easy to walk through it all, so we only visited a small part of it.
The Forbidden City, as a witness of Chinese history and one of the cultural treasures, is well worth a visit. During the summer vacation, the TV series "Story of Yanxi Palace" was very popular, so the Yanxi Palace was also a popular place that everyone was scrambling to find. Although I was not interested in the TV series, I focused on "Along the River During the Qingming Festival".
Beijing in August is still hot, but the crowds of people remind us that summer vacation is coming. Because I went to the palace during the break of Mayday's concert, I ran into many Mayday fans. Although I didn't know them, I could tell their characteristics at a glance.
I was very satisfied to see the magnificent history of our great China, experience the customs of the people during the Qingming Festival, send blessings back to myself in another continent, and buy the small gifts I liked.
The Forbidden City is very large and it takes at least half a day to a whole day to visit it. If possible, it is recommended to take a tour guide, which is also sold on China-TravelNote. You can hear a lot of unofficial history there. After all, the Forbidden City is so large and it carries the rise and fall of the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are so many stories worth remembering.
As a cat lover, I came here to look for the royal cat, but it was too cold and I didn’t even see any cat hair. . .
When you come to Beijing, you must not miss the Forbidden City. The mystery and antiquity of the Forbidden City are like a storybook that you can never finish reading.
Every brick and tile is telling you that the glorious past has never passed. Mottled red paint, I know what you are saying, you came from afar, holding your ground on the pillar, showing the world that tearful story.
Qianqian raises her hands~~
As soon as I arrived at the East and West Six Palaces, I really wanted to sing this song
Length of the wall
It is a height that you can never jump out of in your lifetime.
The Forbidden City is so beautiful that a casual glance may be the next scenery you choose to capture in your camera. The beauty of the Forbidden City can be seen everywhere, but my favorite is the three-dimensional carvings of various shapes on the wall. The color combination is simply too beautiful.
I entered the park at 9 o'clock in the morning, walked all the way down along the central axis, then went to the six east and west palaces, and passed the Imperial Garden three times. It was already 4:30 in the afternoon. Although I was not able to listen carefully to the sound of every tile, I could still understand the layout of the Forbidden City.
TIPs
Book tickets in advance, China-TravelNote combined ticket: Main Gate + Treasure Hall + Clock Hall = 52 (you can enter the Treasure Hall and Clock Hall repeatedly)
Electronic Explanation 20, many versions, hehe, you can actually change the version at will
The tour time is more than 5 hours. If you go in winter, bring some hot water. Of course, there are also tourist service facilities for simple food. The price is average and not expensive. You can also prepare some chocolate and biscuits.
Photography enthusiasts must remember to bring their SLR cameras and charge their batteries.
You can store your luggage for free when you enter the park through the Meridian Gate, but only large bags are allowed. When you pick up your bag at the exit, remember to keep your key tag.
If you come early, you can go to Jingshan Park to have a bird's eye view of the Forbidden City. The ticket is 2 yuan per park, and you can't enter the park after 4 o'clock. So if you want to have a bird's eye view, you have to hurry up.
I suggest you follow "Weigugong" on WeChat in advance, which is the Forbidden City's own public account, which contains panoramic views of the Forbidden City, introductions to scenic spots, etc. You must do your homework in advance because the Forbidden City is really huge.
It is one of the largest and most well-preserved ancient wooden structures in the world, and is known as the "first of the five palaces in the world" (Beijing Forbidden City, Versailles Palace in France, Buckingham Palace in the UK, White House in the US, and Kremlin in Russia).
The Beijing Palace Museum began to be built in the fourth year of Yongle (1406) during the reign of Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty. It was modeled after the Nanjing Palace Museum and was completed in the eighteenth year of Yongle (1420). It is a rectangular city, 961 meters long from north to south and 753 meters wide from east to west. It is surrounded by 10-meter-high walls on all sides and a 52-meter-wide moat outside the city. The buildings in the Forbidden City are divided into two parts: the outer court and the inner court. The center of the outer court is the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Central Harmony, and the Hall of Preserving Harmony, collectively known as the Three Great Halls, which are where the country holds grand ceremonies. The center of the inner court is the Palace of Heavenly Purity, the Hall of Union and Peace, and the Palace of Earthly Tranquility, collectively known as the Three Palaces, which are the main palaces where the emperor and empress live.
In order to avoid the crowds and take pictures of the empty Forbidden City, I didn’t even go for breakfast and just queued outside the Meridian Gate waiting for it to open.
As soon as the gate opened at 7:30, I ran to the security checkpoint and passed the check as quickly as possible. I successfully became the first tourist to rush into the Forbidden City today. Facing the empty Hall of Supreme Harmony Square, it felt so good.
Our plan today is to quickly take photos of the other two halls on the central axis while there are fewer people, then go back to the Meridian Gate to rent an audio guide, and follow the guide to slowly visit the central axis and the six east and west palaces.
As for the Forbidden City, I think I will definitely choose a snowy day to come again in the future, to see the green tiles and red walls, carved beams and painted buildings in the snow, and feel the heaviness and quiet beauty of hundreds of years ago!

The Forbidden City in Beijing is centered on the three main halls, covers an area of 720,000 square meters, and has a construction area of about 150,000 square meters. I didn't make it on my first business trip, but I finally had time to go this time. I booked the ticket on the official website in advance, 40/person in the off-season, and I could get a refund if I didn't go, which was great service. It's freezing in Beijing these days, especially during this season. The gates open at 8:30, and we arrived at 9, and entered by swiping our ID cards. There weren't too many people, probably only a dozen or so in one palace, so it was suitable for taking pictures. Walking on the corridor, I really felt like I was walking into the era of the TV series. I turned on the tour guide mode for individual tourists, but I still recommend that you check out the self-guided tours at the ticket gate, because you go in to learn about history after all.
I have always been full of curiosity and interest in the Forbidden City. It feels like a place that is both familiar and unfamiliar, so I specially arranged a whole day for the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City now implements online ticketing. There is no ticket sales point on site. Visitors can log in to the Forbidden City Museum's online ticketing website, or follow the WeChat public account "Forbidden City Ticketing Center" to purchase tickets for the Forbidden City. Because it is not a holiday, we only bought tickets on WeChat the night before. It is recommended to buy tickets earlier on holidays. After breakfast, it was not yet the opening time of the Forbidden City (opening at 8:30), and people came to line up and wait. It was probably because it was November 1st that day, and the tickets started to be 20 yuan cheaper, and there were a lot of people. The security check was opened at around 8:20, and you can enter directly by swiping your ID card. Lighters and matches are not allowed to be brought in. After passing the security check, I rented an interpreter on both sides of the Meridian Gate entrance, 20 yuan each, no deposit required, and returned it at the Shenwu Gate when I went out. Each interpreter is equipped with story version, essence version, dialogue version, Cantonese version and other explanations, and you can choose freely.
Tips: 1. The Forbidden City needs to be visited from south to north. The Meridian Gate is the only entrance, and the exits are the Donghua Gate and the Shenwu Gate.
2. The Forbidden City provides free baggage storage services. Packages can be deposited at the Meridian Gate and picked up at the Shenwu Gate exit.
3. The Forbidden City's interpreter is automatically positioned and will give explanations at each scenic spot, but sometimes the response is very slow. You can also download apps such as Himalaya, which also provide explanations of each palace.
I had heard about the Forbidden City a long time ago, so I bought the morning session online and rented an electronic guide. Since I haven't seen many Qing Dynasty palace dramas, there are not many places that I can resonate with. I can only walk around alone while listening to the guide, wandering aimlessly, pretending to be in the situation. This is also the most tiring thing in the many days of the trip. The Forbidden City is really huge and inhumane. I bought a combined ticket to enter the Treasure House and the Clock House, which are also worth going. I checked in at the plaque every time I arrived at a palace, so that I couldn't get excited about the palace from the beginning of the day. It is worthy of being the largest palace complex.
During the Spring Festival, the Forbidden City is really crowded. If you don't buy tickets online in advance, you won't be able to buy tickets on site. If you are unlucky enough to choose a peak day like me, I suggest you abandon the three official recommended tour routes and go to a place with fewer people first. I won't tell you that there is no one in the Treasure House and the Clock House early in the morning! !
The Forbidden City has electronic interpreters, 20 yuan each, with no deposit required (which is quite conscientious). There are rental points inside and outside the Meridian Gate. You can rent one after your ticket is checked, and you can return it at the Donghua Gate/Shenwu Gate exits. It only comes with one earphone, which automatically positions. The same scenic spot will only be played once at the same time, so it is unrealistic for two people to take turns listening.
A very unique thing about the Forbidden City is that the people in the Forbidden City did not let the palaces lie dormant, or display them to tourists in a dull form, but made each ancient and majestic palace shine with new splendor in various forms.
The persimmon tree at the entrance of the Forbidden City is full of persimmons. It makes me drool.
I parted ways with my mother at the Qianqing Palace. She followed the tour group to visit the Kunning Palace and the Imperial Garden. I couldn't walk anymore, so I went to wait for the Qingming Shanghe Tu that I had grabbed in the middle of the night. Yay.
Speaking of Along the River During the Qingming Festival 3.0, I saw that everyone gave it very high reviews. It happened to be within my travel time, so I bought two-day tickets with the idea of "if I can get one, I'll go and see it. If I can't get one, I'll just arrange a day to visit the Forbidden City."
I was satisfied with the Qingming Shanghe Tu, but I couldn't get enough of visiting the Forbidden City. I just walked around wherever I wanted...
Passing by the internet-famous palace, Yanxi Palace.
The cultural and creative store of the Forbidden City has cute things inside. I chose the gifts for my trip to Beijing here. I like to take my time to choose.
The only imperial cat I encountered in the Forbidden City~~~
When we were almost at the Shenwu Gate (exit), I was a little reluctant to leave. My old mother felt that I had not visited enough, so she acted as a tour guide and took me to visit the Imperial Garden.
TIPS: If you have enough time, you should spend a whole day to visit the Forbidden City slowly. Half a day is a bit of a rush, so give yourself a reason to visit the Forbidden City a second time.
Prepare some change, as the buses at the North Gate do not support electronic payment.
There is a word that can describe my impression of the Forbidden City, "If you keep thinking about it, there will be an echo." Red walls and green tiles, glazed luster, majestic and solemn, yet exquisite and unique. Looking forward or looking back, there is no place that does not attract your eyes. History has endowed the Forbidden City with a strong color, but the Qing Dynasty palace drama has added a lot of cuteness. Standing where Ruoxi once stood, looking at the background of the fourth master going away like Ruoxi, the loneliness and the inner pain. Time stands still, letting the sun shine on the face, a pair of people love and sigh. The branches and vines in the back garden are scorching. In winter, I always miss that warm sun, lazy, and from time to time there are a few cats running around and tourists rustling. The ever-changing historical trend makes me think deeply about where I will be in the next moment and what I will be doing. If I travel through time in the next second, what kind of world will it be. When I have some free time, I always say, when will I go to the Forbidden City! I once spoke to him, and now he witnesses this time with me.
There is a guide outside the door for 20 yuan, with earplugs, no deposit required, and it will be returned when you leave. After passing the three palaces, if you want to go to the Clock and Watch Museum and the Treasure House, walk to the right. There happened to be an event that morning, and the road to the three palaces behind was blocked, so you can only go to the East Six Palaces and walk straight ahead until you reach the Imperial Garden. Because the event ended at 11:30, the blockade was lifted, so we turned back from the Imperial Garden to Kunning Palace-Jiaotai Hall-Qianqing Palace, and then walked back to the Imperial Garden from the West Six Palaces and exited from the Shenwu Gate. The map can be viewed in the mini program [Play around the Forbidden City].
I bought the tickets online and then swiped my ID card to enter (including the Treasure House and the Watch House). After entering, I rented three interpreters nearby. Just a reminder, in addition to Mandarin, there are also Cantonese ones. I regret not telling her to ask for the Cantonese one. Fortunately, my mother has some basic knowledge. The interpreter is 20 yuan per person. After you get it, you don't need to press any buttons. After you put it on, it will automatically explain wherever you go and sense the place. The return is at the exit Shenwu Gate.
My mother said that the chairs in the Forbidden City are very beautiful.
I really like the feeling of the midday sun shining gently. Would people at that time secretly enjoy this leisure time or secretly sigh at the tranquility?
The Forbidden City needs to be visited from south to north. The Meridian Gate is the only entrance, and the exits are the Donghua Gate and the Shenwu Gate.
The Forbidden City's electronic tour guide costs 20 yuan per unit and can be rented next to the Meridian Gate. It will give explanations wherever you go, without the need for manual operation.
It was almost 12 o'clock when I entered the Forbidden City. I walked along the central axis and the left side. There were fewer people on the left side, which was suitable for taking photos and sitting for a while. There were more people on the central axis.
They sell the five-star red flag there for 15 yuan.
Tickets can be bought in advance, and you can enter by swiping your ID card. But you have to rent the guide separately, and many people rent it, so you need to queue up. There is no WeChat to explain these. Otherwise, how can people who sell guides make money? In addition, even if you have WeChat, there is no signal in the mobile phone. Because the population is too dense...
Most tourists walk along the central axis, but the side halls are much less crowded.
It was almost 12:00 when we left. We took the half-day route. If we visited all the open attractions, it would take a whole day. We were already very tired after walking for 4 hours.
(Book in advance, spent 2 hours): The Forbidden City is really big. After booking the tickets one day in advance, I could enter by swiping my ID card. There were a lot of people. I walked around for a long time. The Cining Hall was open, so I also went to Cixi Garden. I bought a package ticket, so I also visited the Treasure House and the Clock House. The Forbidden City is more about architecture, gardens and souvenirs. There are relatively few treasures in the collection, that is, there are some collections in the Treasure House and the Clock House. The Forbidden City has fixed entrances and exits, so pay attention when visiting. Overall, the price of the souvenirs in the Forbidden City is not too high, and it is quite interesting. I bought a cold palace refrigerator magnet.
The Beijing Palace Museum was established in 1925. It is a comprehensive museum in China built on the basis of the imperial palaces and collections of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is also the largest ancient culture and art museum in China. It was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties and is the largest and most intact wooden palace-style building in the world. The Palace Museum has been selected as a World Cultural Heritage, a national key cultural relic protection unit, and a national 5A-level tourist attraction. There is a China Museum in the Palace Museum. It is recommended to visit it for 4 hours. The Palace Museum has exquisite architecture and magnificent decoration.
Old dreams are vague and the past is hazy
Spring Flowers and Autumn Moon
Like looking at flowers in the fog and the moon in the water
Floating here and there
After watching "Legend of Zhen Huan" so many times, I finally came to the Forbidden City.
While imagining the scenes in the TV series, you can feel the grandeur of the Forbidden City.
I took a lot of photos the first time I came, and it took a long time to repair it.
The Forbidden City is a place you can visit many times, and you can capture different feelings in photos at different seasons and times.
The last time I visited the Forbidden City was in May. The weather was very hot. There was not a single tree in the entire Forbidden City except for the Imperial Garden. We could only visit the main structure of the central axis under the scorching sun.
This time I wanted to learn more about the Forbidden City and the stories that happened in it. At this time, I would be very confused if I visited the Forbidden City by myself, and I had no idea what the focus was. But if someone led me into this palace-like wooden building complex and shared with me the interesting stories that happened in the dream city from ancient times, such a trip to the Forbidden City would be very interesting. So I looked up many Forbidden City tourism products and finally chose a product on the Internet.
The price is more than 200 yuan, not including the entrance fee and the treasure house fee, but I think it is worth it. The tickets and treasure house of the Forbidden City need to be purchased in advance on the official website. This time, we will visit the Forbidden City with Qianlong as the main line. For the first time, I have a different feeling about the Forbidden City. It is no longer a cold palace, but a living story. It is a pity that the Forbidden City is too big. We can't walk through the whole Forbidden City from the opening to the closing of the Forbidden City all day, including Yongzheng's bedroom, the Hall of Mental Cultivation, which is still under maintenance and not open to the public.
At the same time, he also regretted not being able to visit the "Yanxi Palace". With the popularity of "Story of Yanxi Raiders", the "Yanxi Palace" has become a new popular attraction. The commentator said that he has been to the Forbidden City dozens of times, but he has not walked through the entire Forbidden City.
Fortunately, part of the palace wall of the Forbidden City was opened to the public after National Day, and we finally have the opportunity to stand on the wall and overlook the scenery inside.
The bronze lion's ears are drooped and its eyes are covered, which represents the entry into the harem of the Forbidden City, and it means neither hearing nor seeing.
The weather was very good on the day we went to the Forbidden City. We rented a guide, avoided the large group of group tours, and walked slowly. All the palace dramas I had watched seemed to appear in front of me. When I walked to the Meridian Gate, I thought of the beheading at the Meridian Gate and the saying "Once you leave the Meridian Gate, the people's affairs will follow you"; when I walked to the Hall of Supreme Harmony, I thought of the emperor in the Golden Palace; the Cining Palace, Kunning Palace, Imperial Study, Military Affairs Office, Imperial Garden, Qianqing Palace, etc., all the familiar places in those dramas and books appeared before my eyes.
Fortunately, I booked the tickets online in advance, so I didn’t have to queue up to buy tickets. I could just enter the Forbidden City through the exclusive channel with my ID card.
Today, the Forbidden City is still majestic, but with a little more tenderness, allowing ordinary people like us to feel its majesty up close. It is like an old man who has experienced vicissitudes of life, standing there solemnly and majestically, but with a smile on his face.
The Furniture Museum of the Forbidden City was officially opened to the public on September 19 this year. It is located in the Nan Daku on the west side after entering the Meridian Gate. It is relatively remote and people who are not familiar with it rarely go there, so there are very few people.
The furniture museum is well worth a visit, because ancient Chinese woodworking furniture itself is a perfect combination of philosophy and craftsmanship, and as it was used by the royal family, it has a very high artistic value.
We are very, very lucky! We tried to get tickets for two days in a row and finally got them! It takes patience to get tickets. We started at 8pm 7 days in advance and kept swiping until 9pm. Tickets will be released one after another. It was very hot when we went there, and there were so many people that we really couldn't walk properly. But the moment we walked into the Forbidden City, we were still shocked by its momentum! It was so spectacular! Every palace was worth seeing. We walked along the central axis and it took us 2 or 3 hours to walk around.
The place is very large and requires an appointment. It is recommended to go to the Tiananmen Tower first and then arrange the Forbidden City. It is efficient and avoids unnecessary detours.
The Forbidden City is a place with stories, so it is impossible to understand it without explanation. Fortunately, I bought a "travel walkman" and listened to it while visiting.
By the way, it is best to buy the Treasure House ticket at the same time
Tips for Photography at the Forbidden City
Although the exhibition was not as good as I expected, I got a lot of good photos in the Forbidden City in the golden autumn. The blue sky, red walls and glazed tiles are particularly beautiful in photos.
🌟Photography location
1. Treasure House. You need to pay extra, there are relatively few people, and you can easily find a suitable place to take pictures.
2. Cining Palace Garden. There are several large ginkgo trees with beautiful yellow leaves. There was almost no one there before closing time.
3. Jinshui Bridge. If you walk to the very side, you can take photos of the scene without people.
🌟Photo time
After 2 pm, the sunlight is oblique, making it easier to take photos.
🌟Equipment selection
You must have a medium to long focal length lens of 50mm or more, otherwise you will capture everyone.
🌟Tickets and routes
Book your tickets on the official website 10 days in advance. You cannot buy tickets on site. There are a lot of people on weekends and tickets are hard to get.
We lived in Wangfujing, so there weren't many people when we walked from Donghuamen to Wumen.
If you have been to the Forbidden City, try to avoid the central axis.
I went to college in Tianjin for a few years and went to the Forbidden City three times in total, once by myself, once with my college classmates, and once with my bestie. Although there were a lot of people each time, I was still very happy every time I went there. Because I didn't hire a tour guide, I may have only seen the surface of some things, but I was always shocked by the Forbidden City and sighed at the wisdom and greatness of our ancestors. However, we need to do better in protecting our culture and cultural relics.
The first time I visited the Forbidden City, I was exhausted. I walked all day and was tired but happy. The palace is so big that my feet were almost broken after visiting the "Three Palaces and Six Courtyards". I have to say that the buildings in the Forbidden City are majestic and large in size! You can't just take a quick tour of the Forbidden City. Even if you visit it in a hurry, it will take most of the day. There are three points that cannot be ignored when visiting the Forbidden City: one is the route of the Forbidden City, the second is the details of the Forbidden City's buildings, such as the ridge beasts on the roof, and the third is the precious cultural relics of the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City is so big that it can make you lose your way, but you can observe every brick and tile of your current situation, and you will be surprised that they are also beautiful.
[Travel route] If you want to avoid the crowds and slowly feel the charm of the entire Forbidden City, and want to take beautiful photos on the red walls, you can start from the East and West Six Courtyards, that is, enter from the Taihe Gate, and when you reach the Taihe Hall, you can go to the East and West Six Courtyards from the doors on both sides. If it is your first time to visit the Forbidden City, it is recommended to go from the central axis first and then to the East and West Six Courtyards, and first take a look at the magnificent palaces on the central axis.
Central axis: Meridian Gate - Gate of Supreme Harmony - Hall of Supreme Harmony - Hall of Central Harmony - Hall of Preserving Harmony - Gate of Heavenly Purity - Palace of Heavenly Purity - Hall of Jiaotai - Palace of Earthly Tranquility
[Preparation before the tour] Tickets, ID cards, dry food and sunscreen. The ticket to the Forbidden City is 60 yuan, which must be purchased in advance. The tickets to the Forbidden City are divided into morning and afternoon sessions. You need to read them carefully when buying tickets. We bought them on China-TravelNote two days in advance. We bought tickets for the full day, and the price is the same, 60 yuan per person, and it is a real-name system. You can only enter by swiping your ID card.
By the way, remember the best sun protection measures, sunscreen, big hat or umbrella. There are few trees in the whole Forbidden City. The central axis is bare without shade, which is the most likely to cause sunburn. The sun radiation is very strong. We were all darker when we came back. And you must prepare bread and water, especially water. You need to replenish energy when visiting the Forbidden City. There are some places selling water in the East and West Six Courtyards. A bottle of mineral water costs 10 yuan, and a piece of bread is also 10 yuan, which is a bit expensive. It is better to bring your own.

The Forbidden City has been around for 600 years. The Forbidden City is definitely one of the most worthwhile attractions in Beijing. The rich collections inside and the architecture and historical culture it covers are definitely worth a visit.
According to previous guides, when the Forbidden City just opens, rush to the three main halls before the crowds of people rush out the front door, then there will be fewer people.
So the door opened at 8:30, and we arrived at 8:20, but there were still a lot of people!
I think the safest approach would be to come and guard it an hour earlier.
After the Qianqing Palace is the legendary harem. The building structure here is profound and compact. The six palaces in the east and west are independent, each with its own palace gate and palace wall, arranged in an orderly manner, and equipped with palace lanterns, embroidered couches and beds, all of which reflect the arrangement of meeting the needs of luxurious life.
In addition to the paid Treasure House and Clock House, there are many cultural relics exhibitions with different themes in the Forbidden City.
The Forbidden City in Beijing, formerly known as the Forbidden City, is located at the center of Beijing's central axis. It was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties and is also the largest and most intact wooden palace building in the world.
The Forbidden City is a place worth visiting again and again. If you want to take pictures of unmanned scenes in the Forbidden City, it is necessary to go early, and then choose the route is also very important. If you want to take pictures of unmanned scenes, you can go to the East Six Palaces or the West Six Palaces after entering the Forbidden City. I personally recommend the Treasure House, where you can see the treasure exhibition and take beautiful photos. If you walk along the central axis first, you will be crowded and look at the heads of people. If you walk to the side halls to take pictures first, you can take some good photos after walking along the central axis at 3 o'clock. The Forbidden City is worth a day trip.
The Forbidden City is definitely a must-visit attraction. When I came, I could buy tickets on site, but now I need to make an appointment online. I rented an electronic browser, which automatically plays every time I visit a scenic spot, which is very convenient. I like the Palace Museum the most. Every collection is fascinating. I can stand in front of it and look at it for a long time. It is a royal treasure house. It is the world's largest, unique, best-preserved, most royal, and precious cultural heritage of the Chinese nation.
The buildings in the Forbidden City in Beijing are divided into two parts: the outer court and the inner court. The center of the outer court is the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Central Harmony, and the Hall of Preserving Harmony, collectively known as the Three Great Halls, where the country holds grand ceremonies. The center of the inner court is the Palace of Heavenly Purity, the Hall of Union and Peace, and the Palace of Earthly Tranquility, collectively known as the Three Palaces, where the emperor and empress live. If conditions permit, avoid visiting during summer and winter vacations, as there are too many people, but it is also a must-see place
The Forbidden City has become a popular tourist attraction in recent years. The Forbidden City in Morandi's style often brings people into the scenes of "Story of Yanxi Palace". The tickets for the Forbidden City are also very affordable. I think the Forbidden City is the most worthwhile attraction in Beijing.
I took my kids to visit the Forbidden City on the hottest day of the summer vacation. Since I didn't know much about history, I booked a tour guide named Li Jiaxuan from City Travel. It was not easy on such a hot day and there were a lot of people. It was much more interesting to have a tour guide. He explained a lot of architectural knowledge and interesting stories about the Forbidden City. Fortunately, the tour guide reminded us to get up early so that we could pass the security check in the first wave. When we stood on the city wall, we could see the dense queues of people below. Be sure to pay attention to sun protection in summer. There is really no grass on the central axis. Generally speaking, it is worth a visit.
I bought a ticket online and walked out of a gate by mistake. Now the staff and the obvious sign did not tell me that I could not go back in once I came out. A security guard told me to go around and enter from the main gate. After going around and finally getting to the main gate, he told me that I could not go in again! One ticket can only enter once? I don't understand. For such a big attraction, can't they tell me when buying the ticket or when you come out to play?
I visited the Palace Museum around 2pm on April 27th. I spent more than two hours there. I visited several halls. This is my second time here. The first time was in 1988. The Palace Museum opens at 8:30am and closes at 5pm. We had a lot of fun because I brought my mother with me👩. But there was one thing. Fifteen minutes before closing, the restroom was closed and the door next to it was locked🔒 to prevent people from going back. It was really inconvenient for me to bring my old mother with me. I could only take a detour to the Donghuamen exit. It was a bit of a pity.
