Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall

May 3, 2019. I just came back from a trip today. Starting from Tangshan, my husband and I drove to Huairou Water Great Wall with our dog. We went there on the 2nd. We strolled around the 798 Art District. There were too many people, so we left disappointed. We went to a hotel near the Water Great Wall. We booked a homestay outside the scenic area. We can bring dogs, which is very convenient. The first half of the journey was very ordinary. There was some traffic jam near the scenic area. At night, we arrived at the homestay and had local specialties grilled fish and barbecue. The taste was quite satisfactory. The next morning, we started to visit the scenic area at around 8 o'clock. The ticket was bought online one day in advance, 49, and it seemed to be 60 in the local area. However, including the round-trip ticket for the boat, it was about the same as buying a ticket on site. It is recommended to stay one day in advance and go early in the morning. You can finish the tour at about 12 o'clock. You belong to the first group and don't have to queue at all. Have some food and start the return journey at 1 o'clock. There is no traffic jam. Generally, after 3 o'clock, the return journey will be very congested. There will be a long queue for boats and so on. Of course, I am talking about this kind of short holiday. Compared with Badaling and other scenic spots, there are really few people here. It's really nice. You can bring your dog here, take a boat, or a speedboat.

If you make a plan in advance, you can bring your two dogs with you. You can set off from Tianjin at 5 o'clock and arrive at the P3 parking lot at 8:25 at 3.5 hours.



The water level is low on the left side of the dam at the entrance, and high on the right side. After the dam, there is a small section of the Great Wall on the left side. You can choose to raft or walk downhill to cross the bridge when you get off the Great Wall. You can buy a ticket to take a speedboat on the right side. The speedboat goes directly to the Kuaku Bridge covered with windmills.



Then there is a Peach Blossom Island, which has relatively complete and clean facilities. You can go boating and eat. Then there is the beach 🏖️. In front of it is the Liziyuan of the Ming Dynasty. There is another section of the Great Wall in the garden. There is a pavilion on the way. After coming out of the Liziyuan, there is a flat road and plank road similar to the canyon. There are many small goldfish in the Jade Pond. In front is the Black Tiger Pond.

The two sections of the underwater Great Wall are worth seeing. The Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall is particularly well-maintained, and convenient facilities such as handrails have been added. However, because it is too neat, it looks more like an ordinary city wall, rather than a Great Wall that has been guarding for hundreds of years. In addition, there are a lot of amusement facilities, glass bridges, windmills, etc. that have nothing to do with the ancient monuments in the park, making it more like an amusement park. In fact, there is nothing wrong with it. Isn’t the Osaka Castle also following this route?



After talking about the Great Wall, let’s talk about transportation (this is also the reason why the service score is low, not because of the Great Wall itself, but because the supporting transportation service is too poor!):

Although it is said online that there is a direct express bus from Dongzhimen Transportation Hub/Qianmen Distribution Center to Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall, in fact, both sides will tell you: this bus may not be available! So, it is very likely that the final compromise is: take the bus!

Look at the four hits we suffered:

1. Window of Qianmen Tourist Distribution Center: "That route (through train) is not open, don't buy it, you should go to Badaling or Juyongguan"......

2. Dongzhimen Transportation Hub Information Desk: "Come back on the weekend." "The bus may not be running"...

3. As for the bus, haha, the map won't tell you that there is a stop called Goguryeo on the 916 route, and it will not tell you that there will be a market there on Saturdays! Just when we were just relaxing on the bus, a group of healthy aunts and uncles squeezed in, and the bus turned into a can in an instant!

4. The final critical hit: the locals at Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall said, "The through train came here empty this morning" and "I don't know where it stops at Dongzhimen"...



I took the bus for more than 7 hours and climbed the Great Wall for less than 4 hours...

I have hiked the Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall dozens of times, and each time I have a different feeling. I was amazed the first time I came. Hiking on the thousand-year-old Great Wall, the vicissitudes of time have created a sense of heaviness about this Great Wall.

I recommend staying at the Guhuai Restaurant near the ticket office of the Water Great Wall. Their beef brisket, grilled fish and pancakes are especially delicious!

Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall is located in Xishuiyu Village, Jiuduhe Town, Huairou District, Beijing. There is a reservoir here, called Xishuiyu Reservoir. Due to the construction of the reservoir, the water flooded a section of the Great Wall built in the gully, so this section of the Great Wall became the Water Great Wall.

After Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty established Beijing as the capital, he located his mausoleum on the south side of Tianshou Mountain in Changping. Huanghua Town is located to the north of Tianshou Mountain. This section of the Great Wall not only guards the north gate of the capital, but is also an important gateway to the "Thirteen Tombs" of the Ming Emperors. Before the holiday, I came to the Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall, where the mountain flowers are in full bloom. The peach blossoms all over the mountain set off the ancient Great Wall, the leisurely clear water, and the spring lights! There are almost no tourists on the mountain trails, which are extremely quiet. It is a rare place to enjoy the spring flowers!

I was looking for the same location as in the TV series, but when I walked all the way back, I found that it was at the first beacon tower, but I was shooting from inside. A new glass suspension bridge has been built here, but it is not open yet. The Great Wall is not open for a long time and the intensity is not high. There are few people in winter, few staff, and the signboards are not very good.

The Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall that TB visited is in Huairou. The Great Wall was built artificially later. It is more suitable for taking pictures when the weather is good. The scenery is good and unique.

Huanghua Great Wall The Great Wall is connected with mountains and rivers, which is unique to Huanghua Great Wall. It retains the original style of the Great Wall. Some places have been repaired, but you can still appreciate the original beauty of the Great Wall. In many places, villagers charge 5 yuan or 10 yuan per person for the so-called tolls to pass through their manor fees.

The Water Great Wall is definitely worth visiting and is very spectacular.

Suitable for a 2-day or 1-day weekend trip in Beijing. We departed from Haidian and arrived in 1.5 hours. Bring the elderly and children. If you are physically fit, you can park the car below the reservoir and walk and climb the whole factory. If you are not physically fit, you can drive the car directly to the P3 parking lot, the east gate of the Water Great Wall, so you don't have to climb the dam, saving a lot of energy.

The "Three Wonders" lake naturally separates the Great Wall, forming a unique landscape of the Great Wall playing in the water and the water submerging the Great Wall.

The first time I visited the Great Wall, an old lady seemed to stop everyone and collected 2 yuan.

The east gate of the Water Great Wall and the parking lot are close to the scenic area. If you want to take a boat or go around the lake, you can go through the east gate. If you don’t want to spend money on a boat or don’t want to be too tired, you can go through the west gate to climb the mountain directly, and you can also cross the Great Wall.

The Great Wall is built on the cliffs on the top of the mountain, blending with the scenery of lakes and mountains, forming a vigorous, beautiful and profound picture.

The Great Wall is like a giant dragon dancing in the sky, dancing gracefully between the green carpet-like mountains and the clear blue sky, stretching to places far away. Usually tourists who come here will be in a daze and then feel excited.

In Huairou, the Great Wall is more spiritual than other places because it is surrounded by water. The dam and chestnut garden are also good. There are many large tree trunks with different branches in the chestnut garden. It should be beautiful to take pictures of the snow in winter. Tickets are 60/person.

It's a nice place with the Great Wall ruins and lakes and mountains. Some parts of the scenic area are still under construction, and it is estimated that there will be more people in the future.

I still remember the grandeur of the Shanhaiguan Laolongtou connecting the sky and the sea, and the grandeur of the Jiayuguan Great Wall in Gansu; the star-studded night scene of the Simatai Great Wall is still vivid in my mind, and the grandeur of the Juyongguan Great Wall Gorge in the valley is still lingering in my heart. Because I had something to do in the evening, I was a little disappointed that I couldn't taste the farmhouse dishes!

In Beijing, it is very relaxing to go to such a suburban attraction on weekends. The peach blossoms are all over the mountains and the green trees are reflected. Except for the air pollution, everything else is good.

The basic tour route is as follows: enter from the west gate, visit the Ming Great Wall, the peninsula, the beach, the chestnut garden, the Jade Pool, the Black Dragon Pool, and then return to the peninsula and go out from the east gate. You can see the dam when you come out of the east gate, which is very beautiful. The entrance to the Ming Great Wall is generally not very intense, and it is a place for leisure travel. It can be regarded as the first stop in 2018. First exercise, and then slowly climb a few high places.

Black Dragon Pond is three feet deep and doesn’t even have a sign. I walked four kilometers just to see it?

April 2017, peach blossoms and the Great Wall of Water.

There are cruise ships or speedboats in the scenic area to travel between the entrance and the depths of the scenic area, and there are also pedal boats to play. In short, it is still worth coming in summer.

I went there with a friend on April 8, 2017. It was very windy and I caught a cold when I came back, but it was still fun!

The Water Great Wall, the name sounds interesting, the scenery is nice, a good place to visit in the suburbs of Beijing

The Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall has beautiful scenery. Climb up the Great Wall and you can see the undulating mountains in the distance. The Great Wall is cut off by the dam water, and it seems that the Great Wall extends into the water, forming a unique scenery. There is also a chestnut garden from the Ming Dynasty. The trees are hundreds of years old and full of fruits. You can see them. In autumn, you can pick chestnuts and taste fresh sugar-roasted chestnuts.

The mountains are high and the water is beautiful. Walking along the lakeside trail around the lake, you can enjoy the lake view. The Great Wall and the lake are integrated into a whole, like a giant dragon tumbling in the mountains and beautiful water.

Transportation: Self-driving, nice scenery along the way, plenty of parking spaces

Food: There are many farmhouses between the parking lot and the scenic area gate, with barbecue and home-cooked dishes.

Accommodation: Round trip on the same day, the conditions of the farmhouses are generally average

Scenery: It is quite beautiful, with a high vegetation coverage rate and a small lake. The direction of Heilongtan is relatively quiet, but don’t have too high expectations for Heilongtan.

Play: The boat trip cost 20 yuan and was over in 2 minutes; there was mountain rafting, but I didn’t try it; there was also a so-called beach, the water was a bit dirty, and there were a few children’s play facilities around it.

Generally speaking, there are not as many activities as in Qinglong Gorge, the scenery is similar to that of Qinglong Gorge, but the transportation is not as convenient as that of Qinglong Gorge.

The environment is very good, the air is good, there is always smog in the city, but once you get here, it is a big blue sky

There are many recently maintained sections of the Great Wall, making it easier to walk.

But if you want to see the Great Wall, I don't recommend it.

This is another water Great Wall after the Xifengkou Underwater Great Wall. It has pleasant scenery and is worth a visit.

The second time I went there, I chose to enter from the west gate, walk along the winding plank road to the beach, then go deep into the Black Dragon Pool, and then walk along the small road until the stone bridge, turn back to the beach, cross the bridge and exit the west gate. This is not the time to climb the Great Wall. The scenery in the Black Dragon Pool is very good for the north. The stream water is clear and the roadside vegetation is dense! It’s just that the road after the Black Dragon Pool is very difficult to walk, not suitable for children. I will go there again when I have time!

Half-day tour of the Great Wall of Water

There are buses to the scenic area in Huairou City, but it takes a longer route, so it is recommended to drive there.

If you drive from the city, you can stop by Xingshou to pick strawberries, which will make for a perfect day activity at the Water Great Wall.

There are no highways in the city, and the roads to and from the city are not easy to travel, mostly mountain roads, so please drive carefully.

I can't seem to describe the beauty of the scenic spot in words. I want to emphasize that the photos taken with a mobile phone are only one tenth of the beauty seen with the eyes! It is really beautiful! One day is not too long to visit the scenic spot.

Therefore, if you are traveling by car, it is recommended to stay in a farmhouse at the entrance of the scenic area one day in advance and enter the scenic area early the next morning.

The scenic area recommends walking according to the signs, first towards the Ming Great Wall, passing the Broken Bridge and the peninsula, which are so beautiful. The section of the Water Great Wall is broken, so we just looked at it, and then went to climb the Ming Great Wall. It is recommended to climb it, the view is super good.

After coming down from the Ming Great Wall, we went to Jade Lake and Black Dragon Lake. There is nothing much to say about Jade Lake, but Black Dragon Lake is a bit far away. After visiting it, you have to go back the same way. It looks like a cliff. It is suitable for summer vacation, but if you are short of time, you can skip it. It is quite far.

After coming back, we took the winding mountain plank road, which was a good way to make a circle. The scenery on the winding mountain plank road was also beautiful.

There is no need to climb mountains when visiting here. It is one of the few scenic spots in the suburbs of Beijing where you can enjoy the scenery without getting tired. You can buy a one-way boat ticket, take a boat to the island, and walk back. The surrounding farmhouses are in quite good condition in Huairou area, and the price is between 100-150.

Just after Double 11, I went there with my friend as a driver. Maybe it was winter, it felt a bit bleak, plus it was foggy. It was OK, but I found that the English on the LoGo of the Water Great Wall was wrong. Foreign tourists would probably laugh and cry when they see it 😂

We went there on November 5th. It got cold early this year and many leaves had fallen. I felt the scenic spot was very nice and it should be very cool if we went there in the summer.

There are mountains, water and houses, which are rare in Beijing. There are few people at the Great Wall, and you can see the water, which I personally like.

Located in Huairou, about 2 hours' drive from the city. Different from Badaling, the scenery is very good. If you don't climb the Great Wall, you can go all the way inside. The Black Dragon Pool section has a unique tranquility. It is a place worth visiting in the suburbs of Beijing.

Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall is not as famous as Badaling, so it is less developed and more original. The scenery is beautiful, but the road conditions are poor and it is not suitable for the elderly and children. Young people can challenge it.

Not bad, a hundred times better than Shidu, and there is a good place to play in the water

I climbed the water Great Wall during the Dragon Boat Festival. It was not tiring overall. There were a lot of shade trees, which was suitable for children. The Black Dragon Pool was very quiet and cool in summer. There were little squirrels jumping around. I found a 620-year-old chestnut tree in the Ming Dynasty chestnut garden.

It's a place I personally like quite a lot.

From my home, I drove into the Third Ring Road and headed straight for the Beijing-Xinjiang Expressway. The toll was 15 yuan. In fact, this road was not long, but after exiting the Xiaotangshan toll station, the road I took was either a small road in the village or a winding mountain road. The speed was about 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, and it took about an hour and a half to reach the Water Great Wall.

The original ticket price is 45 yuan/person, and group purchase is 40 yuan/person. It is best to make an appointment 24 hours in advance.

The entire route is mainly flat land, so hiking is effortless. There are several entrances to the Great Wall. We walked straight into the innermost Ming Dynasty chestnut garden and climbed the last section of the Great Wall. After returning to the original route, we went deeper inside and walked to the Black Dragon Pond.



The scenery along the way was very nice. It was not too hot because it was near the water. There was a small beach next to a children's playground where a few children were playing in the mud. The Ming Dynasty Chestnut Garden was my favorite garden. There were chestnut trees over a hundred years old, and the oldest chestnut tree was 788 years old. There were several swings in the garden, and the winding paths were quiet and cool.



The Great Wall is not difficult to climb, it is not very high, the only problem is that some of the steps are super high, equivalent to two sections. The Huanghua Water Great Wall, as the name suggests, has a number of yellow flowers, which may be out of season and lack of yellow flowers.



After returning along the original route, we insisted on going to Heilongtan. We didn't really see the significance of Biyutan when we passed by it, and we just checked in and took a look at Heilongtan. The whole trip, including taking photos, took 4 hours, which was quite fulfilling. It is better to come early to avoid the hot afternoon.



It takes a short walk from the parking lot to the entrance of the scenic spot, and there are several shops.
