One day wandering the streets of Beijing, I chose to go to the magnificent Lama Temple in the morning to experience the noble and majestic palace of Emperor Kangxi.
The first thing that came into my sight after entering the gate was this archway, standing next to the ticket gate, which looked even more spectacular under the blue sky.
After checking the ticket and entering the gate🎫, you will see a long passage leading to the Lama Temple. There are ginkgo trees on both sides. I heard that in autumn, this place is golden🍂, becoming one of the most beautiful landscapes in Beijing. But in winter, the leaves of the ginkgo trees fall off, leaving only bare trees, which inevitably looks a bit depressed, but at a glance, it adds a lot of vitality under the blue sky.
The Lama Temple is now the most popular place for praying in Beijing, so there are many people who come here to pray. There is a free incense collection area at the entrance of the Lama Temple. By the way, tourists are not allowed to bring their own incense in.
Everyone who comes here, whether they believe in Buddhism or not, will take a stick of incense and pray for themselves, their family, and their friends🙏~
Walking around inside the Lama Temple, you will stop and go, and you will see many people praying devoutly at the door of each temple.
There are many exquisite little corners in the Lama Temple. Walking around slowly alone is a different kind of relaxing experience. And the weather is good, so it is especially nice to take photos of such a magnificent building. However, out of respect for the temple, I did not take photos of the objects inside the temple. I only took photos of some of the buildings outside.
The scenery inside the Lama Temple is very peaceful and beautiful, and the various objects in the temple are also very exquisite, it is worth a visit.

After arriving here, I found that everyone, young or old, male or female, was holding a few bunches of incense sticks and worshiping the Buddha statue devoutly.
In short, Lama Temple is a place to burn incense and worship Buddha. People who believe in Buddhism strongly recommend you to come here, and people who do not believe in Buddhism,
For example, I can also choose to visit Buddhist statues and Sanskrit and other Buddhist relics here, and see with my own eyes the giant Maitreya Buddha statue that has been certified by the Guinness World Records. Since it is expressly forbidden to take photos of the Buddha statues inside, there are no pictures of the solemn and sacred Buddha statues.
When you enter Lama Temple, there is a small window next to the door distributing free incense sticks. Each person can receive three bundles for free, because Lama Temple has a rule that does not allow people to bring their own incense sticks!
The largest Maitreya Buddha statue is in the last temple of the Lama Temple. I heard a tour guide say that the statue was built first and then the temple. It is estimated to be several stories high, which is amazing.

My parents bought half-price tickets, and I bought a full ticket. After passing the ticket gate, there is a road. After walking along the road, we are ready to enter the palace. Environmentally friendly incense and candles are distributed at the door for everyone to pray for blessings. Today is the fifth day of the first lunar month, but there are still many tourists who come here to burn incense and pray for blessings. The incense is very strong. As we go forward, there are fewer and fewer tourists burning incense. Lama Temple is the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple. I thought I could see some Buddhist culture here, but all I saw along the way were tourists from all walks of life. I took some photos and went out directly from another door. My mother also burned incense and prayed here, so it can be said that she achieved her goal~

Lama Temple is the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Beijing. It was the residence of Emperor Yongzheng and the birthplace of Emperor Qianlong. It is one of the most important temples of the Gelugpa sect (also known as the Yellow Sect). It is quite far to go to Tibet. There is a Buddhist temple with the highest specifications in the country in the middle and late Qing Dynasty in the urban area of Beijing. It is definitely worth a visit. In fact, it also proves that our choice this time was wise.

When we entered the Lama Temple early in the morning, we found that the temple was very popular, with pilgrims coming to burn incense everywhere. Outside the gate of the Lama Temple, there was a Tibetan lama who kowtowed devoutly. Every time he kowtowed, a machine would click once. Out of curiosity, we went up to him and asked him why he kowtowed here. The lama was not very old. When he saw us coming around, he smiled shyly, blew hot air on his hands, rubbed his hands, and told us that in a few days a master from the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet would come here, so he wanted to kowtow here to welcome the master's arrival.

He said he was from the Sichuan-Tibet region, and some people there would kowtow as they walked towards the sacred place in their hearts: the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. Hearing this, I couldn't help but marvel at the unimaginable perseverance of the lamas. As long as people have faith in their hearts and work hard for this faith unswervingly, no matter what kind of difficulties they have, they will not be defeated.

The incense in Lama Temple is distributed free of charge, three sticks per person, and pilgrims are not encouraged to bring incense into the palace. It is not allowed to take photos of the Buddha statues in the temple, so everyone needs to pay attention to this. When visiting tourist attractions, you must abide by the rules there.

I have been to many temples, but this temple is different from the others. There are two aspects. On the one hand, the gods and Buddhas and their appearances. Some Buddhas have not been seen in other temples. Maybe it is because of Tibetan Buddhism? The appearance of the Buddha is more delicate, for example, the pupils are painted in circles. I also remember that the lion ears at the door of the first hall after entering the door are also very strange, a bit like dog ears, very cute. I have been to Nanjing, Hangzhou, Jilin and other places before, but I have not seen such. The color of the Buddha is also very good, very pleasing to the eye. Unlike the ordinary watercolors in other places.
On the other hand, it is well decorated. You can see the heart-shaped auspicious cloud decorations "pasted" on the beams of the hall. I watched a variety show about the Forbidden City before and saw a large round copper ball on the top of the Queen Mother's bedroom. I can't remember what it means. There is also such a copper ball on the top of a hall here. The Buddha statue in the innermost hall is very tall, and there is a Guinness World Record written on the outside. The reason is that the Buddha statue is made of a whole tree (I thought it was a copper statue at first, but it turned out to be wood).
The ticket price is very affordable, 25 yuan, and the half-price ticket is 12 yuan. Among the scenic spots in Beijing, this price is really conscientious.
The time for worshipping Buddha is about 1.5 hours. It is next to the Confucius Temple of the Imperial College, so you can take a look.

When traveling to Beijing, exploring the ancient sites, the Lama Temple is a must-see attraction. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi, this was the residence of Prince Yong. When Emperor Yongzheng became emperor, it was converted into a temporary palace. When Emperor Qianlong was in power, he liked Tibetan Buddhism and built a Lamaist temple here. The royal style and Buddhist art formed a unique style that was unparalleled in the imperial capital. The temple is large in scale, with nearly a thousand halls and monks' rooms, all with yellow tiles and red walls, five-step brackets, and Hexi colored paintings, which are exquisite and delicate. It not only has the "Seven Halls of the Han Buddhism" but also the "Four Major Zhacang" of the Tantric Buddhism.

I saw the three Buddhas of the past, present, and future enshrined in the Lama Temple, such as Dipamkara Buddha, Sakyamuni Buddha, and Maitreya Buddha. This is the emphasis of Chinese Buddhism. The master Tsongkhapa enshrined in the Falun Hall is the main deity of Lamaism. In fact, Tibetan Buddhism attaches great importance to Avalokitesvara, but the name is different. It is called Kangri Gongbu, which means the protector of the snowy land. The soul of Tibetan Buddhism is the heart language of Avalokitesvara. In Tashilhunpo Monastery, Manjusri and Samantabhadra must be on its side. But there seems to be no special Avalokitesvara Hall in Lama Temple. You may not recognize it even if you see it, because the Tibetan Avalokitesvara is a man, which is completely different from the image of Avalokitesvara in Chinese Buddhism.

There are many other attractions in the Lama Temple, such as the three unique wood carvings, one is the 26-meter-high Maitreya statue carved from a whole piece of white sandalwood; the second is the Five Hundred Arhats Mountain with a golden body of red sandalwood; and the third is the Buddha niche made of golden nanmu. It is very shocking to look at, and they are all priceless authentic works of handed down art. Another example is the corridor murals of the story of Sakyamuni Buddha in the Falun Hall, which are rich in color and in the style of thangka, and are very valuable for appreciation. There is also a small museum in the garden, with many bronze Buddha statues from the Qianlong period, almost all of which are the images of the original Buddha of Lamaism, and you can make up for it here. The most impressive is the double-body statue of Vajra holding Vajrayogini, with twelve arms for the male body and eight arms for the female body, one foot stepping on a terrifying man and one foot stepping on a naked woman, with an extremely complex shape. It is said that this is the Happy Buddha, which I have seen in the Tantric Hall. It has a blue body and four faces, and looks very strange. In fact, although the Happy Buddha means sexual intercourse between men and women, his greatest symbolic meaning is power and bravery, which is a great experience.

In the 13th year of Emperor Yongzheng's reign (1735), Emperor Yongzheng passed away and his coffin was placed here. Therefore, the original green glazed tiles of the main halls of the Lama Temple were changed to yellow glazed tiles. Because Emperor Qianlong was born here, the Lama Temple produced two emperors, and became a "dragon's hidden blessed land", so the palaces are yellow tiles and red walls, the same specifications as the Forbidden City. In the 9th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1744), the Lama Temple was changed into a Lama Temple, and the Minister of General Affairs was specially appointed to manage the affairs of the palace, with no fixed number of people. It can be said that the Lama Temple was the highest-standard Buddhist temple in the country in the middle and late Qing Dynasty. The temple is mainly composed of three exquisite memorial archways and five magnificent halls. From the east and west archways with flying eaves and brackets to the quaint east and west Shunshan towers, it covers a total area of 66,400 square meters and has more than a thousand halls.

Lama Temple is mainly a place to burn incense and pray for blessings. On the first day of the Lunar New Year and the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, many people will rush to be the first to burn incense to pray for the safety of their families!

You can get a bunch of incense for free when you enter the door, which is enough for one round of worship without having to buy any more. The incense is very popular and is said to be very effective.
It seems that you are not allowed to take photos inside the temple. I don’t understand this, but I still avoided it and only took a photo of the entrance gate.

(It took 30 minutes): Lama Temple is not a museum but a temple (?) In short, it is a place for people to worship. After buying the ticket and entering the gate, you will see the incense gift place, where you can get a box of incense. Based on my experience of watching my mother worship gods for many years, I lit three incense sticks in each of the four places, so there are still more incense gifts. The incense gifts are a bit brittle, so be careful when lighting incense. (Lama Temple is very close to Wudaoying Hutong, and you can actually go together, but I didn’t plan to come to Lama Temple on this day. I just came to Lama Temple because I suddenly had more time.) There will be some aunties around Lama Temple who will grab you and tell your fortune, but the first thing she says is that I fell in love with someone I shouldn’t have fallen in love with. I? ? ? I haven’t liked another boy for four years.

I suggest you don't rent an audio guide when you go to Lama Temple. First of all, the guide and the lanyard are very dirty. The earphones are reusable, and they cut one off for you. The inside of the earphones is really dirty and disgusting. Secondly, I don't know if I'm unlucky or what, it's said to automatically sense the location for explanation, but the guide I was given didn't sense anything except the Zhaotai Gate at the main entrance! From beginning to end, I could only listen to the explanation at the main entrance! Isn't it annoying! I really regretted buying the ticket and renting such a thing in the small shabby house next to it.

By the perennially lazy young man |

A whole box of incense was given at the entrance, which was very generous. In southern temples, people usually only give three sticks of incense. Inside, there was a pattern of colorful piles. I saw this when I was watching House of Cards before. At that time, I thought that if there was an earthquake halfway through, it would be a waste of time.

By Joy |

The ticket to Lama Temple is 25 yuan, and 12 yuan for seniors. There are incense sticks for free on the right side of the first door after entering the ticket gate. Our route is to worship in each hall along the central axis first, and then walk around the central axis in a big circle to worship the Bodhisattvas in each hall. There is basically one worship point for each hall along the central axis, and there are basically three worship points for each hall on the sides.

Lama Temple is a Tibetan Buddhist temple, but after all, it was a royal palace in the past, so it is more magnificent and majestic than other ordinary temples, especially the Falun Hall and Wanfu Pavilion. The architecture is gorgeous, and statues of Master Tsongkhapa and Maitreya Bodhisattva are enshrined inside respectively. The statues are tall and majestic, which makes people feel awe.

The Lama Temple was the residence of Emperor Yongzheng before he ascended the throne. It is a famous Tibetan Buddhist Lama Temple. The long chariot road is lined with green trees, with shadows of trees dancing. In front of the main hall, incense smoke is curling and smoke is rising. Good men and women worship devoutly and pray for the protection of the Buddha.

The Lama Temple was originally the residence of Emperor Kangxi's fourth son Yinzhen. It was later converted into a Tibetan Buddhist temple and was also a place for Qing emperors to worship. Walk into the long chariot road from the archway. According to records, the emperor usually rode on a golden-topped yellow bridge carried by 32 lieutenants in flowery clothes to pass through the chariot road. The Hutuktu, Kanbu, Zasak Lama, and princes and ministers who greeted him on both sides of the chariot road had to kneel on the ground to welcome him. The scene was very grand. Now the trees on both sides of the chariot road are lush and green. Once you enter, you can feel the peace of mind.

It was the palace where Yongzheng lived when he was a prince, and it became a Lamaist temple during the Qianlong period. You can get incense for free, and there are many places to insert incense. It is recommended to insert three incense sticks each time!
There are three unique things in the Lama Temple: the three-basin basin used by Emperor Qianlong, a 28-meter-high Buddha statue, and a priceless piece of wood with 99 dragons carved on it. It's even more interesting to ask the tour guide for help!

This is a place I go to every two months. It is a large Tibetan Buddhist temple. I heard that it is very effective, especially for studying. I wanted to go there once a month and record my state of mind for four years to see how my state of mind changes. I hope to understand the religious spirit. In short, whether it is for studying or to see the magnificent scenery of the Lama Temple, Lama Temple is a good place to go. The nearby Beijing-style hutongs are also a good place to discover food, take photos, and experience hutong culture.

The Lama Temple is located in the downtown area, but when you step into the gate of the Lama Temple, it seems that all the hustle and bustle is isolated outside the red wall, leaving only the chirping of birds and cicadas. Taking the subway to the Lama Temple is the best way to get there. You need to go through a security check before entering the temple. After the security check, you can walk along the avenue inside. After passing a memorial archway, you can see the main hall of the Lama Temple. Although you cannot bring incense from outside into the Lama Temple, you can get a bunch of incense for free at the gate with your ticket, and the quantity is sufficient.
Because we went to Lama Temple on a whim, it was already past 4pm when we arrived here and it was about to close. However, for this reason, there were very few tourists in Lama Temple and no tour groups, so the visiting experience was very good. Friends who have the right time can adopt this method.

It is hard to imagine that there is such a temple, whose architectural style is the Han style of the mainland, and inside which Tibetan Buddhist statues are enshrined. It was built by order of the Manchu emperor, and the plaque on it is written in four languages: Manchu, Mongolian, Chinese, and Tibetan, which is also a testimony to the glory of an empire.

I went out early in the morning and came to Lama Temple. You can get incense for free in Lama Temple. Before going to Lama Temple, I thought Lama Temple would at least be an ancient park or museum. However, I was a little disappointed after entering. It was just like a temple, but it might be more prosperous than the temple. In fact, my family also believes in Buddhism and Taoism, so I still inherited the blessings for my family, lit incense and worshiped several times, and of course added some incense money. I think this is a procedure, but I still hope that I can be sincere. People always need some faith. My little disappointment is just that I think this Lama Temple should be a very beautiful and pleasing place. It has very high walls and very classic ancient buildings. However, if it is a place for people to burn incense and worship Buddha, the buildings and trees here will be weakened. However, after entering, as a family of Buddhists and Taoists, I will still observe the scenery here and the people passing by while worshiping. I think everyone who passes by you is very interesting and unique. They have different wishes for worshiping Buddha, which are expressed in roughly the same way but still in some different forms. For foreigners who believe in Jesus, they will definitely be able to see the different customs of the people praying here.

The Lama Temple was home to two emperors, and became known as a "dragon's hidden place", so the temples have yellow tiles and red walls, the same specifications as the Forbidden City. There are some prayer wheels in the Lama Temple, and children also go to pray for peace.
When we went there, the lamas in the temple were chanting. As the saying goes, you can disbelieve, but you can't disrespect. When they are chanting, keep quiet and don't take pictures. There is another interesting thing about Lama Temple, which is the place with the most foreigners in Beijing. There are Oriental people from Korea, Japan, Thailand, etc., and there are also blond and blue-eyed Westerners who are hard to tell which country they are from.

The Lama Temple is the first residence visited during the Forbidden City tour. It was also the palace of Emperor Yongzheng before he ascended the throne. Naturally, expectations for it were extremely high. However, in fact, the Lama Temple is slightly more plain than the later Lama Temples. It has become a place for storing Buddha statues. It has more solemnity of a Buddhist temple and less noble air. There is a huge Lama Buddha statue in the Lama Temple that broke the Guinness World Record. It is magnificent. I don't know what the origin of the Lama Temple is and the spread of Tibetan Buddhism. Interested travelers can pay attention to it. If you are like us, you can finish the tour in an hour.

In the 9th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1744), the Lama Temple was changed into a Lama Temple. It can be said that the Lama Temple was the highest-specification Buddhist temple in the country in the middle and late Qing Dynasty.

There were many pilgrims in the temple, and there was a place to receive incense next to Zhaotai Gate. However, because the air quality in Beijing was bad that day, the temple also suspended the collection and burning of incense.
Special reminder: It is disrespectful to take photos of Buddha statues, so please remember not to take photos of Buddha statues. There are several places in Lama Temple that are open to learn about history, but they will be closed at around 3 o'clock on the day, so you should go early if you want to visit.

As the inland center of Tibetan Buddhism, it is very distinctive, and the architecture is quite unique. You can go and have a look even if you don't have any religious beliefs. It's quite good. The explanation device is a pitfall, with few explanation points and little content. I couldn't sense the last few points at all, and the experience was too bad.

Located in the northeast corner of Beijing's Second Ring Road, Lama Temple is the highest-standard Tibetan Buddhist temple in the country (formerly the Prince's Palace, it was converted into a Lama Temple in the ninth year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1744 AD)).

The temple is mainly composed of three exquisite memorial archways and five magnificent halls. From the east and west memorial archways with flying eaves and brackets to the ancient and fragrant east and west Shunshan buildings, it covers a total area of 66,400 square meters and has more than a thousand halls.

The Lama Temple is located in the northeast corner of Beijing. In the 33rd year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1694), Emperor Kangxi built a mansion here and gave it to his fourth son, Prince Yong, which was called Prince Yong's Mansion. In the 3rd year of Emperor Yongzheng's reign (1725), the mansion was changed to a temporary palace, called the Lama Temple. In the 13th year of Emperor Yongzheng's reign (1735), Emperor Yongzheng passed away and his coffin was placed here. Therefore, the original green glazed tiles of the main halls of the Lama Temple were changed to yellow glazed tiles. Because Emperor Qianlong was born here, the Lama Temple produced two emperors, and became a "dragon's hidden blessed land", so the palaces are yellow tiles and red walls, with the same specifications as the Forbidden City.

It is said that the Lama Temple is very popular, and people pray and worship devoutly for health and wealth. The ticket is only 25 yuan, which is much more cost-effective than the Changling and Dingling of the Ming Tombs. The Buddha statue is very spectacular and it is worth recommending. There are incense sticks at the entrance. It is a small box but a lot of incense. Please note that only three sticks are enough. There are many places to go later.

Lama Temple is a national key temple. You can receive incense and kowtow when you enter.
There are bells hung under the eaves of the Lama Temple. A search on Baidu shows that they are used for praying, warding off evil spirits, preventing birds, measuring wind and providing warnings.

Lama Temple is now a popular temple. If you buy a ticket, you will get free incense and you can go there to pray.

The Lama Temple in winter is a beautiful sight in any photo. It is generally the off-season for tourism in Beijing now, so there are not too many tourists and it is very comfortable to walk around.
I went to the incense-giving area to collect incense. I was originally worried about how wasteful it would be to give out so many incense sticks to each person. Later I found out that it had already been arranged to ensure that you could use them in every hall.
A patch of ginkgo trees will surely present a different kind of golden beauty in autumn.

Pray for blessings at Lama Temple. I have never been there in summer, only in winter and early spring. It is very cold, but the sky is very blue!
Finally came to Lama Temple in summer, and there were obviously many more people

The incense in Lama Temple is still so prosperous, but it is a pity that it did not bless my wish to come true. I don't know whether it is effective or not?

Lama Temple is the former residence of Emperor Yongzheng, and the Forbidden City is where the emperor lives. The two places are of the same architectural level, both of the highest level, so the level of the lions at the door is the same as that of the Forbidden City, and therefore the form of the carving should be the same.

Ginkgo Avenue is amazing. Free incense is distributed at the door. I went in and burned all the incense, praying for the health of my family.

This is the fourth and fifth time I have been to Lama Temple. I like it very much. It purifies my soul, but there are too many tourists...

This Tibetan Buddhist temple was built by Emperor Qianlong. The buildings in the courtyard have royal style. The most shocking thing is the 18-meter Buddha statue carved from sandalwood, which is the largest wooden Buddha statue in China. There are also ancient trees, persimmon trees and other big trees in the courtyard. The scenery is beautiful. I happened to encounter a lama chanting and performing a ritual. I listened for a while and found that they were chanting in Tibetan.

The Lama Temple opens at nine o'clock. It was probably the place with the longest queue on our trip to the imperial capital. Even though we arrived very early, we still waited in line outside for nearly half an hour.
The middle road of the temple was blocked and it was impossible to get close to see it.
The center of the hall is dark, and the Buddha statues are not clearly visible, which makes people feel awe. The sunlight captured by the camera is very sacred and full of hope. The incense of Lama Temple has always been very popular, and it deserves to be the only temple called "Palace".
Yongzheng once lived here, and Qianlong was born here. As the highest-standard Tibetan Buddhist temple in the country and one of the important temples of the Gelug sect, Lama Temple is well worth a visit even if you are not a disciple of Tantric Buddhism.

The 22nd stop of the 2017 Spring Festival Beijing Free Tour is on February 3 (the seventh day of the first lunar month). Those who have time can go and have a look, but those who are short on time should not go. The Lama Temple was originally the bedroom of Emperor Yongzheng when he was a prince. It feels like it is now just a temple with a lot of incense, nothing more.
