If you go to Beijing for the first time, Qianmen Street is of course a must-visit place, but that's all. The whole street is basically prepared for outsiders who come here to travel. The prices are expensive, the goods are low-quality, there are street stalls everywhere, and there are so many "old brands" everywhere that you doubt your life. Well, so... friends, just go shopping... Don't buy anything. If you don't buy cheap ones for more than ten yuan, you won't suffer a loss, but if you don't buy them, it doesn't matter. I wanted to eat Qianmen Tanghulu, but it was sold for 20 yuan each. If it was clean and hygienic, it would be fine, but there was not even a package to cover it. It was just placed on the street like this. How can people swallow it... There are many people traveling, but if you can improve it, can't you make more money? That's all~

The most famous place in the Qianmen area is Dashilan. The Beijingfang that evolved from it is not so famous. Many Beijingers may not know this place. The eight fangs in the outer city, which are now commonly known as the "front three gates" (referring to Zhengyangmen, Chongwenmen, and Xuanwumen) to the south to Yongdingmen, are all the outer city of old Beijing, also known as the "outer Luocheng", and old Beijingers also call it the "hat city". The characteristics of the outer city fang are: concentrated in the main gate "Yongdingmen" in the south of the outer city and Zuoanmen and Youanmen on the east and west sides, there are eight fangs: Zhengdongfang, Zhengxifang, Zhengnanfang, Zhengbeifang, Chongnanfang, Xuanbeifang, Xuannanfang, and Baizhifang.

A pedestrian commercial street south of Qianmenlouzi was renovated and reopened in the 2000s. It is very antique and old-fashioned. The cable car only goes to Zhushikou for 50 yuan one way. Various shops are decorated in a very formal manner. The entrance to Dashilan is on this street. There are many other nearby attractions. It is recommended to stroll around casually, but generally speaking, it is not recommended to come here to experience the customs and culture of old Beijing.

Walking slowly towards Qianmen Street, I realized that I should have come to Qianmen Street earlier, because there is a huge tourist gathering place here, and most importantly, there are a lot of food. Compared with Wangfujing and Guijie, I like this place more, even though it is morning. In addition, this place is more retro, with all kinds of snacks, Madame Tussauds, the main store of Beijing Roast Duck, etc.

Qianmen Street is home to many time-honored shops, and it can definitely be called the most Beijing-style commercial street on the central axis of Beijing. This is also my favorite street, so let’s get straight to the guide:
1. Speaking of transportation, you must take Metro Line 2 and exit at Qianmen Station Exit B or C, bypass the Zhengyangmen Arrow Tower, and you will see Qianmen Street directly opposite.
2. Qianmen Street is completely open. Although there is no access control, the shops are basically open from 8:00 to 22:00. If you choose to take an in-depth tour, you can definitely spend a whole day there.
3. Time-honored shops include: Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant, Duyichu Shaomai Restaurant, Yueshengzhai Sauce Meat Restaurant, China Bookstore, Yitiaolong Mutton Restaurant, Zhang Yiyuan Tea House, Qinglinchun Tea House, Changchuntang Pharmacy, Yizhao Department Store, Dabei Photo Studio, etc.
4. Must-visit places on Qianmen Street: There is the time-honored Xianyukou Food Street in the east and Beijing Dashilan in the west. You can visit Madame Tussauds to feast your eyes, take a walk in the emerging landmark Beijing Wang for a fresh style, check out the Railway Museum and the historical chronicles of the Railway Museum, listen to crosstalk in Deyun Club in Guangde Building, enjoy Errenzhuan in Liu Laogen Grand Stage, watch a movie in Daguan Building, and if you want to go further, you can visit the Eight Great Hutongs, Liulichang, and the Temple of Heaven Park!

Qianmen Street is a very famous commercial street in Beijing. It is located on the central axis of Beijing, starting from Qianmen Moon Bay in the north and ending at Tianqiao intersection in the south, where it is connected to Tianqiao South Street. Before the outer city was built in the 29th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1550), it was the imperial road for the emperor to go out of the city to the Temple of Heaven and the Temple of Mountains and Rivers. After the outer city was built, it became the main north-south street of the outer city. People call it Qianmen Street. The street is 845 meters long and the carriageway is 20 meters wide. It was called Zhengyangmen Street from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the Republic of China. It was officially named Qianmen Street in 1965.

Qianmen Street was once the most popular commercial street in Beijing. It supported the hutongs such as Langfang Toutiao, Zhubaoshi Street, Xiheyan, Dashilan, Meishi Street, and Xianyukou. Like gold beads, it supported the commercial atmosphere and became the favorite place for Beijingers to visit. Later, it was kidnapped by capital, and this famous commercial street was rebuilt and renovated. It is a street that makes people feel uncomfortable. It should be said that its renovation has completely failed! Look at the black mouth of Quanjude, the iron signs of Dashilan and Xianyukou, what are they called?

Since our hotel was chosen in Zhushikou, not far from Qianmen Street, we could see that the construction of Qianmen was becoming more and more standardized and tidy during the walk, but I always felt that something was missing. Nowadays, Beijing always promotes the old Beijing culture and the canal culture. Maybe the little bit missing is the old feeling because everything here feels new. When I saw the tram, I knew that Qianmen Street was not far away. Walking on Qianmen Street, there were many forks leading to various alleys. Many time-honored Beijing brands gathered here. It is one of the must-see attractions when visiting Beijing.

It is an old street. Now it is a renovated new street. When I was young, I liked to eat Du Yi Chu Shao Mai here! Friends can come and taste it! There is a Ding Ding car in Qianmen now! 15 yuan per ticket, driving from one end of the street to the other end of the street! It is still very interesting! This is also a landmark street, it is worth a visit!

The commercial street is a bit like Chunxi Road in Chengdu. It is nice to walk around. There are many Daoxiangcun shops selling

By Kankan|

There are so many people. There are many shops and specialty shops nearby. There are so many kinds of roast duck shops. After entering this archway, you will reach Qianmen Dashilan and Xianyukou. There are no fish in Xianyukou and no fence in Dashilan. If you are interested, you can go in and take a look. I heard that it is very good and there is a lot to eat.

By Xiaocheng|

It’s Chinese New Year, and Qianmen Street is filled with lanterns. There are a lot of people, and it’s very lively.

By 土拔🐭 |

It's different from the desolate feeling I had when I came here before. There are a lot of businesses and food. The only problem is that there are fewer toilets. I searched for them for a long time. I was so anxious.

By Trembling Little Hands |

There are many food stores on Qianmen Street, as well as some Beijing local specialty pastry shops. It's nice to go there and eat. But I personally feel that those food stores are a little expensive. Fortunately, I went there with friends, so it didn't cost much. In addition, when eating there, try to choose big and famous stores with a little history. Don't think that big stores will be expensive. In fact, the prices are not much different. Even if the consumption is higher, the prices are clearly marked and meet local standards. If you want to save money, go to those small stores. The prices will be more expensive in minutes and you may be cheated in some inconspicuous places.

By Cream Puff |

There are many time-honored shops or snack bars along the main road. You can try them. If you are careful, you will see many surprises.

You can take a sightseeing bus in front of the Forbidden City to Qianmen Street. Dashilan/Dongjiaominxiang are all in that area. There are many old shops here. It is a more retro street. There is also a lane in the middle. Dingding cars like those on Hong Kong Road pass by. The ones here are a little cuter. The buildings on Dashilan Commercial Street are very magnificent. When you look at the shops, they are all time-honored brands, such as Tongrentang/Ruifuxiang. Dongjiaominxiang is a street I want to go to but don’t have time to go. These three places can be arranged to visit in one afternoon.

It feels like many buildings have just been built and look very new. Some have not yet opened for business. It is a commercial street. I saw many foreigners and many Koreans hanging out here. The buildings are quite modern, just covered with antique clothes.

There are many places in Beijing that are well-known even if you have never been there. Qianmen is one of them. You can only imagine what Qianmen was like in stories or in movies and TV series. Qianmen has not changed much since ten years ago. It still looks the same and is still bustling with people. As soon as we got off the bus, the children were attracted by the old Beijing candied haws. Although we often eat candied haws in Huangshi, changing the place and changing the mood makes the taste different.
The children were not interested in shopping at all. Looking at the dazzling array of goods on Qianmen Street, they could not muster any interest at all.

It is a good place to go shopping and eating. Foodies like us can really shop for a long time. Old Beijing snacks are not available in Jiangnan, so no matter how delicious they are, we want to try them all, which leads to eating all the way.
I don’t know if it’s because of the New Year, but Qianmen Street is decorated with lights and red lanterns are hung all over the roadside.
The most impressive thing is the Hermès of steamed buns, the Goubuli steamed buns that cost 25 yuan each.

After finishing our tidying up, we went out for a walk. As mentioned above, the location is great, so as soon as we went out, we went to Dashilan, Xianyukou, and Qianmen for a walk.
However, this is a tourist street that exists in every city. There are many time-honored shops in Dashilan, and the buildings on both sides of the street are quite interesting.

I heard from a friend that Qianmen used to sell some small gadgets worth tens or even twenty bucks. But when I turned into the main street of Qianmen from the side alley, what caught my eye were big shops like HM. The ancient flavor of old Beijing is gradually disappearing, and the Grand View Garden has become a movie theater in the appearance of a garden.

It looks bigger and more prosperous than we imagined, especially the Qianmen subway station is really crowded. You can spend a long time walking around there. It is actually just a commercial street, but the architecture is quite nice. It looks a bit like the style of the Republic of China architecture. In fact, what is sold inside is nothing more than the uniform supplies of the commercial street.

By Weird Witch |

I can no longer see the old Qianmen Street. I heard from the Didi driver that the current Qianmen Street is no longer what it used to be. It is just an antique street now. But it is still a good place to find some snacks or old brands. If you decide to come here, it is better to come when night falls. After dinner, you can also see the night view of Qianmen Street and the neon lights. This is a good choice. If you want to buy souvenirs, this is also a good choice.

At the end of the west entrance of Xianyukou is Qianmen Street, which has a long history with Beijing. It dates back to the Yuan Dynasty when Beijing was the capital. By the middle of the Ming Dynasty, this busy main road gradually became a commercial street with many shops and many time-honored shops. With the tide of reform and opening up, the commercial status of Qianmen Street in Beijing fluctuated somewhat. With the advent of the 21st century, Qianmen Street has also been completely renewed.
As the jingling "ding-dang cars" slowly approached from the Qianmen Arrow Tower, the new Qianmen Street, with its themes of tourism, commerce, culture and food, opened a new chapter in the new century and was coming towards us.
Qianmen Street is not only a commercial street. Behind every time-honored brand is a story, a memory, and a history of Beijing. Apart from the commercial atmosphere, one can feel from the bottom of one's heart the precious wealth left by our ancestors, which is a wealth that cannot be measured or replicated with money - culture.
