I took a photo of the Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge in the morning. It was drizzling and foggy.

Chaotianmen Bridge connects the two sides of Changjiang Road. Looking at Chaotianmen from afar, the majestic mountain city is in full view.

The Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge is located in the main urban area of Chongqing in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. It connects Wulidian on the north bank of the river to the west and Danzishi on the south bank to the east. The main span is 552 meters long and the total length is 1,741 meters. If the front and rear approach bridge sections are included, the length is 4,881 meters. The main span is the largest arch bridge in the world, surpassing the Lupu Bridge in Shanghai.

The bridge is the eighth cross-river bridge in Chongqing's main urban area. Construction began in March 2006 and it was opened to traffic on April 29, 2009.

In January 2019, it was announced by the China Construction Industry Association as one of the "100 Classic Projects in 40 Years of Reform and Opening Up".

The first highway bridge across the Yangtze River

What I want to talk about here is the night view. It is so beautiful that I can’t bear to delete a single picture.

By Zhang Laoyuan |

In my personal opinion, Chaotianmen Bridge is the most beautiful bridge in Chongqing. It is bright red, like a rainbow spanning the sky and the earth; it is magnificent, like a giant steel dragon, guarding the main road leading to the center of Chongqing.

A bridge over the Yangtze River, just passing by to see it, not worth a special trip

By Lift the corners of your mouth |

The Chongqing Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge, located downstream of the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, approximately 1.7 kilometers from Chaotianmen, is currently the world's largest arch bridge. The bridge, approximately 4.8 kilometers long, comprises the Jiangbei Interchange, the Yangtze River Bridge, the Danzishi Interchange, the Huangjuewan Interchange, and connecting roads. It is one of the east-west expressways in Chongqing's urban master plan. The bridge's main deck consists of two levels: the upper deck is a six-lane, 31-meter-wide, two-way bridge. The lower deck houses a two-way light rail track in the middle, flanked by motorways. The bridge boasts a main span of 552 meters, the longest in the world. Located in Chongqing's main urban area on the upper Yangtze River, the Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge connects Wulidian on the west bank of the Yangtze River to Danzishi on the south bank to the east. With a main span of 552 meters, the total length is 1,741 meters. Including the front and rear approach spans, the total length reaches 4,881 meters, making it the world's longest arch bridge, surpassing the Lupu Bridge in Shanghai.

One of Chongqing's landmarks, Chaotianmen...

By Sun Tree |

The Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge, formerly known as the Wangjiatuo Yangtze River Bridge and later renamed the Hongyan Yangtze River Bridge, is a product of political ideologies. Spanning the Yangtze River in Chongqing, the Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge began construction in December 2004 and opened to traffic in April 2009. Costing over 1.3 billion RMB, the project's sheer scale is undeniable. Spanning east and west, it seamlessly connects the three central business districts of Jiefangbei, Jiangbeicheng, and Danzishi in Chongqing's main urban area with the surrounding areas. In the afternoon, the bridge, as captured by my camera, was primarily red, in keeping with the vibrant color palette of Chongqing's mountainous landscape. The alternating red and white colors create a striking archway, spanning both banks. Traffic flows endlessly across the bridge.

On the way back from Ordovician, the bus drove on the Yangtze River Bridge. The photo was taken at the third trail of the mountain city.

By ~Cloudy and Green~ |

The Chaotianmen Bridge is beautiful both from a distance and up close. Its main span is very long, but appears shorter up close, and its colors are bright. The Chaotianmen Bridge is a grand structure with wide, comfortable sidewalks.

The Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge connects the two banks, like a rainbow in the sky, bringing blessings to the people of Chongqing.

By Li Suda |

You can see the Qiansimen Bridge from the opposite exit by cable car, and the night view will be even more beautiful.

By Liang Pang Pang |

Around the bridge, you can explore Chaotianmen Wharf (under reconstruction) (8 km) or visit Yangren Street in Danzishi (planned for relocation) (5 km) to experience China's first open-air toilet. The Chongqing Science and Technology Museum (free and open to the public) (3 km) and the Chongqing Grand Theatre (3 km) are also within walking distance.

The famous "Sydney Bridge" was once the "World's First Arch Bridge", but the title has been changed to the Chongqing Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge. Its steel arch bridge has a main span of 552 meters, which is nearly 50 meters longer than the "Sydney Bridge".

By Huang Daxia |

Chaotianmen Bridge is one of the most eye-catching bridges among the dozens of bridges over the Yangtze River and Jialing River in Chongqing. The scenery is beautiful and the bridge is spacious and bright, which makes people feel relaxed and happy every time they look at it!

By Heheheha begs for flowers |

We took bus 163 to Yangren Street. When the bus was about to pass the Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge, I couldn't help but want to get off to take a look at the bridge. When I got off the bus to look at the bridge, I didn't expect the bridge to be so long that it took me more than 20 minutes to walk across it. I was so tired 🤣.

Chaotianmen is the business card of Chongqing. You must visit Chaotianmen when you come to Chongqing. Take the light rail line 1 to Xiaoshizi and walk north for 20 minutes. Chaotianmen is actually a wharf on the riverside, and now it has become a landmark building in Chongqing. The area around Chaotianmen has been under road construction for nearly a year, and it looks a bit messy. There is a Chaotianmen Square here, which is free to visit. From here you can see the confluence of the Jialing River and the Yangtze River. There is also a sign of Chongqing's "Zero Kilometer" Highway in the square, which is worth a look. The night view of Chaotianmen Wharf is superb, and it is known as Little Hong Kong. It is recommended to come here at night to enjoy the night view. At the wharf, you can take a ferry to the other side to Yangren Street. There is one ferry every hour, and the ticket is 10 yuan. Note that there are people selling tickets along the way. Be sure to go to the regular ticket office at the wharf to avoid being ripped off. South of Chaotianmen is Jiefangbei, which is not far from Hongyadong, Huguang Guild Hall, and the Yangtze River Cableway. They are usually arranged to be visited together.

The Chaotianmen Bridge is an arch bridge, known as the "World's Longest Arch Bridge." Located downstream of the Chaotianmen Wharf, it is a double-deck structure with six lanes in both directions on the upper deck and two reserved lanes for light rail traffic on the lower deck. From afar, the Chaotianmen Bridge resembles a beautiful rainbow on the rolling eastward Yangtze River—truly majestic and spectacular!

Chongqing's bridges are either built over the Jialing River or the Yangtze River. Although they are not in a variety of shapes, the momentum is... well, those in a variety of shapes are nothing compared to them.

The Chaotianmen Bridge officially opened to traffic on April 29, 2009. It connects the three central business districts of Jiefangbei, Jiangbei City, and Danzishi. The bridge is located on the green lawn of the Gailan River, 1.7 kilometers from Chaotianmen. It serves as Chongqing's gateway to the river. The design ultimately selected a simple and elegant steel truss arch bridge. The bridge has only two main piers and a main span of 552 meters, exceeding the main span of the world-renowned Sydney Bridge in Australia, making it the "world's longest arch bridge." The bridge consists of two levels. The upper level has six lanes in both directions, with pedestrians accessed via sidewalks on both sides. The lower level houses the subway tracks in both directions, with two lanes reserved on both sides to accommodate future traffic increases. The bridge connects to the Wulidian Interchange in Jiangbei District to the west and the Huangjuewan Interchange on the Chongqing-Guizhou Expressway in Nan'an District to the east. With a total length of 1,741 meters, it serves as an east-west expressway in the main urban area. ② The story of Dayu's flood control states that Dayu married the daughter of Tushan and left home three days after their marriage to control the flood. Dayu spent thirteen years controlling the flood, "passing by his home three times without entering." His pregnant wife waited for him, eventually transforming into a huge rock. Upon Dayu's return, he passed by this rock, which suddenly collapsed, and a baby was born: Dayu's son, Qi. This rock became known as the "Qi Mother Stone" or the "Child Birth Stone." Later, "Child Birth Stone" was corrupted to "Danzi Stone." This "Danzi Stone" is located not far from Chaotianmen. This story is widely circulated among the people. ③ Since the reform and opening up of Chongqing, the new urban area has continued to expand, becoming several times, or even ten times, the size of the old city. This has led to the emergence of many new commercial and community centers. The term "Twelve Cities" refers to the sheer number of these new central areas.

The main thing is to take a cruise and see the river view. You can get off at the last stop of bus 401 and walk. Take the light rail to Linjiangmen and get off. I went there at night. There were many boat tickets sold along the way. The price was the same. It was just that the luxury of the boat was different. The price was close to 200.

By Noisy! ~ |

It's just a pier with a bridge next to it, hahahaha nothing else. You can listen to the wandering singers singing by the river and feel the river breeze. If you don't want to take a boat ride, don't waste your time coming here! Want to see a bridge? There's one next to the cable car. The most common thing about the Yangtze River is a bridge. You can even call it the Yangtze River Bridge~

By To the Faraway Place |

The scenery found on Hongyadong Road from the Jiefangbei Pedestrian Trail is very beautiful, and it is even more beautiful when the lights are on at night.

By Xiaomu |

The Two Parallel Rivers is worth seeing. The road is under construction and it takes a long walk to reach Chaotianmen.

I went to Chaotianmen to see the night view at night. I had previously booked a tanker ticket on Meituan.com. It was said that Chongqing's night view could rival that of Hong Kong. It was true, it was indeed good.

By kingde |

For nothing else, simply to witness the grandeur of two rivers flowing together. When the jade-like Jialing River merges into the murky, yellow Yangtze River, the two merge with such tranquility and stillness, silently blending together. Perhaps this is the tolerance of the father river (I missed my father a little). And then there's the dilapidated and desolate Chongqing Port (the starting point for the Three Gorges tour, which continues to Yichang). The sunset, the faint glow of the sunset, also signaled that my day in Chongqing was drawing to a close.

By Qingye Jushi |

The scenery is pretty good. I recommend going to see the night view at night. During the day, you can see the confluence of the two rivers and the mixture of clear and turbid water.

There are many bridges in Chongqing, with different shapes and tolerances. Chaotianmen Bridge was built in 2009. Its lines are still very beautiful. The key is that it has improved traffic.

By Dasong is an unlucky guy |

It is indeed spectacular when viewed from a distance, and the red color adds to its brightness.

By There is a small butterfly on the stamen |

It was under construction when I went there, but it didn't affect its beauty at all.

The cruise ship passed by Chaotianmen Bridge. Although it is called "Chaotianmen Bridge", it is actually quite far from Chaotianmen. Together with the Liangjiang Tunnel, it connects the three major central business districts of Jiefangbei, Jiangbei, and Danzishi. Known as the world's first arch bridge, it is indeed very important!

By Camels on the beach |

If it were a sunny day, it would be much better, but the river view here is indeed unique.
