Chongqing Graffiti Street

This short street is covered with graffiti, from buildings and walls to schoolyards and storefronts, creating a giant 3D graffiti painting.
Although the graffiti is quite old, it is a quiet place with few people and you can pose and take photos as you like.
Near Graffiti Street is the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. There are two places in the school that you cannot miss: one is the art gallery and the other is the tank depot.
There are many delicious restaurants on Tuya Street, such as Tikan Douhua, Erwa Xiaomian, and Huji Pig's Hoof Soup, which are cheap and delicious.

Graffiti Street, not far from the Huangping campus of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, is a must-see destination in Chongqing. The graffiti here stretches all the way up the street, creating a unique and artistic atmosphere. I wonder if it gets fresh paint every year. Some buildings may be old and closed to the public, so whether they'll be demolished and rebuilt soon is unknown, but I hope there's a good plan.

Beyond the Jiaotong Teahouse, the world is dominated by Graffiti Street. A few hundred meters up, and a few hundred meters down, it feels like the entire Sichuan Fine Arts Institute is in its own right. From residential buildings to old factories, and even the art sculptures at the Academy, all are the product of unbridled imagination. While the graffiti in the Old Sichuan Fine Arts District is rather dated, this area remains a popular online destination for young people. Enjoy this vibrant world at every turn! Graffiti Street stretches 1.25 kilometers from the Huangjueping Railway Hospital to the 501 Art Gallery. The vibrant street corners evoke a sense of transition between the old and the new in Chongqing. Had the weather not been so bad, we'd have loved to linger longer, to explore the art world of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, or to wander among the graffiti-filled buildings and immerse ourselves in the artist's passion.

Huangjueping Graffiti Art Street, located in Huangjueping, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing, stretches 1.25 kilometers from the Huangjueping Railway Hospital to the 501 Art Gallery. Covering approximately 50,000 square meters, it is the largest graffiti art complex in China, and perhaps even the world. The entire graffiti project involved over 800 workers, students, and artists, consuming 12,500 kilograms of various paints and nearly 30,000 brushes. Over 150 days of meticulous work, the street graffitied 37 buildings, renovated and widened 1.25 kilometers of roads, laid approximately 9,000 meters of pipelines, demolished and rebuilt 2,700 square meters of dangerous buildings, and installed 20 sculptures, significantly transforming the entire streetscape. The completion of Huangjueping Graffiti Art Street has profoundly transformed the dilapidated urban landscape of Huangjueping, Chongqing, creating a favorable environment for the development of cultural and creative industries, primarily those at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.

Graffiti Street is next to the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. This short street is covered with graffiti from buildings and walls to campuses and store exteriors, which is equivalent to a giant 3D graffiti painting.

By crystal_8 |

Take the bus to the old campus of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (Huangjueping Campus). The most distinctive feature is the graffiti street opposite the school.

The streets are full of attractions, as long as you have an eye for discovery. You can walk and take pictures along the way.

By Summer |

The graffiti street is located on the old campus of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Most of the works are works by students of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. They make the originally dilapidated old street look very youthful and vibrant. It is also a place where many foreign tourists check in. It has to be said that because of the existence of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Chongqing's graffiti culture can be regarded as unique in the country.

By Want to eat clay pot rice |

Outside the gates of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, there's a graffiti street, with every house painted in a vibrant array of colors. I wonder if living in a house like this makes you feel like a work of art yourself?

Graffiti Street is located in Huangjueping, Jiulongpo District. It's close to the Academy of Fine Arts, and Jiaotong Teahouse and Huji Pig's Hoof Flower are both excellent.

By nine o'clock |

The graffiti street is suitable for careful appreciation and is also a must-see for young artists.

By Li Xiaobai |

It's pretty good. The old building has been given a new lease of life after being repainted.

By Cheu Chen Rourou |

The walls of the entire street are covered with interesting graffiti. It is said that n buckets of paint and n pens were used up in that year... It's really cool.

Many famous snacks, such as Hu Ji Pig Trotter Soup, are on this street, and of course there is also the Jiaotong Teahouse which we are going to next.

By Mei Baolian |

This is the most disappointing and heartbreaking place to check in! Just a tip for anyone else fantasizing about a graffiti street: I don't recommend going here, unless it's on your way. The reason is clear from the pictures I took. Much of the roadside graffiti is covered in layers of random graffiti, a mess I'd say is unrecognizable. Yet, beneath the scrawl, you can still see a sliver of the original artist's work. I traveled all the way here today, full of anticipation, but left feeling so disappointed, so sad, and so tangled. This graffiti is supposed to be a place where individuality and art can flow freely, but without constraints and oversight, it's no longer an outlet for art; it's more like an outlet for the artist's emotions, good and bad, all jumbled and twisted onto a small wall. Of course, I have no reason to deny or criticize other people's graffiti, whether good or bad. I just want to say that if a graffiti artist paints a good piece of art on a wall, please don't write your ugly, large words: "I wish so-and-so a lot of money this year! So-and-so loves so-and-so!" It's like you wouldn't let someone draw on your girlfriend's face. I applaud the original, most dedicated graffiti artists, but at the same time, I feel bad for the disappearance of this art form!

By Not far |

It not only changed the old appearance of the city, but also created an environment for the mountain city's cultural and creative industries, thus becoming another business card of Chongqing, the fashion capital.

By Buzz buzz sir |

There's a popular graffiti street in front of Sichuan Fine Arts Museum. As we passed by, many people were writing and leaving their mark. Dance to your heart's content, because dancing like that is absolutely forbidden on the plateau. A dog was sleeping comfortably in front of the art supply store.

By Gloria_tz |

As soon as you get off the car, what comes into view is the largest graffiti art street in China and even in the world. Do the people living here also have new expectations for life?

By YUN-Cloud |

Tikan tofu pudding tastes okay, but the steamed pork basket hasn't been cleaned in 20 years. I regretted it after eating it. It's a fly shop, the hygiene is so dirty that I want to vomit.

Hu Ji Pig's Hoof Flower: I feel like vomiting after eating it. It's too oily, too greasy and too salty. The kimchi and seasoning bowl are also salty.

I don't want to come again a second time

By Yvonne |

Maybe it's because I've seen too many graffiti streets, so I think this one is really ordinary, but everyone's opinion on art varies.

By Pretty Candice |

The walls of buildings along an entire street are covered with various graffiti, which is the largest graffiti art work in China and even the world today.

By I can't figure it out |

Unlike the graffiti on the walls I've seen before, the entire building here is covered in graffiti. It's quite shocking at first glance, but due to its age and disrepair, a lot of the paint has fallen off, and for those of us who are not art majors, we can't make out what it is. Check in, check in.

By Chen Jiamao |

Compared to four years ago, the colors have faded a lot, and some buildings are even deserted, and demolition has begun...

I just hope it can be preserved well

By quesooo |

The graffiti on Graffiti Street is really cool, harmoniously arranged on the buildings. I'm curious how they were painted there. Many of them are giant anime characters, spanning several houses. I imagine the artist must be quite skilled...

By Going🐶 |

The graffiti street is very famous, with all kinds of graffiti. You can see people "creating" with correction fluid and spray paint everywhere. I don't know whether they are tourists or students of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Although it is called a graffiti wall, can you really paint on it at will?

By Sun Xingzhe |

It’s not as shocking as I imagined!!!

By Young Master Yang |

The school teachers and students organized workers to graffiti together. It was a big project. It formed such a famous graffiti street. The artistic heart is really great.

It's worth the trip to come here.

By Enjoy the scenery along the way |

The graffiti street in front of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute is also full of artistic atmosphere. This short street is covered with graffiti, from buildings and walls to schoolyards and storefronts, creating a giant 3D graffiti painting. Although the graffiti is quite old, it is quiet and sparsely populated, making it a great place for posing and taking photos.

By Saramande |

Before I even went, I was drawn to the graffiti walls at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. The buildings covered in graffiti felt like cartoons. And indeed, that's exactly what happened. The graffiti blanketed the entire building, making the dilapidated structure seem charmingly casual and the entire street vibrant.

By Shanchuanke |

It's OK. I took the bus for half an hour and only walked around for more than ten minutes.

By Zhang Laoyuan |

When I came to Huangjueping and saw graffiti all over the streets, I thought I was in a neighborhood abroad. However, these were not created by street artists, but by teachers, students and artists from the nearby Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.

By Let me take a look |

There are many graffiti works on the facades of buildings in the street outside Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, but they are not so amazing.

By Rabbit Queen |

Next to the bus stop is a graffiti street. It's said that students from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute used tens of thousands of brushes to create these graffiti. It's truly incredible. In short, this street blends art and life.

By Qian's mother |

The key points are highlighted on the blackboard. This is suitable for young ladies. For example, I have to take care of my mother-in-law and children. Forget it. It doesn't make much sense and they are not interested.

The Graffiti Art Street in Huangjueping starts from Huangjueping Railway Hospital and ends at 501 Art Gallery. It is 1.25 kilometers long and covers a total area of about 50,000 square meters. It is the largest group of graffiti art works in China and even in the world today.

By malmsy |

At the end of the graffiti street is the old campus of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, a very distinctive street; you can also see the Jiaotong Teahouse on the road

By China-TravelNote users |

For someone like me who doesn't understand art, it's nothing! Nothing!

It took us two hours to get there, where we encountered confused tourists holding their phones. We all had the same question: is this a graffiti street???

It feels like some places are about to have old buildings demolished, and it looks like no one lives there...

I felt that I couldn't come here for nothing, so I stopped by to visit the nearby Sichuan Fine Arts Institute campus. I took photos of the sculptures there, and then I saw the students' art exhibition. If locals have nothing to do, it's fine to go there for fun, and literary youths may feel happy there, but for me, it's a waste of time and a waste of room fees.

By Zhang Wenxuan |

A place for literary and artistic check-in, next to Sichuan Fine Arts Institute,

Although a bit shabby, it is still quite interesting.

Suitable for slow strolling!

By Haikou Food Recommendations |

Most of the buildings are painted with vibrant cartoon-inspired designs, and the main streets are lined with artistically vibrant graffiti. Against the backdrop of avant-garde art, this old street, built in the 1960s and 1970s, has been transformed into a work of art. The shops along Sichuan Fine Arts Museum Street primarily sell tools like paints and brushes, as well as various small art pieces. Art lovers can come here to find treasures. They can also pose for photos, a popular spot for young people.

By Polar bears in Antarctica |

The residential buildings, covered in a riot of graffiti, carry the stories and dreams of countless people. Seeing so many "Kaiyuan" (Kaiyuan) names initially puzzled me. Then I realized Wang Junkai and Wang Yuan are from Chongqing. And what's a graffiti wall without posing for photos? Honestly, some of this graffiti art is truly incomprehensible.

By Li Sir |

Huangjueping Graffiti Art Street is located in Huangjueping, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. It starts from Huangjueping Railway Hospital and ends at 501 Art Gallery. It is 1.25 kilometers long and covers a total area of about 50,000 square meters. It is the largest graffiti art group in China and even in the world. Maybe it is because of the weather? Or because the graffiti has been there for a long time, I don’t feel surprised at first glance.

By Go far away |

It is the largest graffiti art work in China and even in the world. Local people believe that graffiti is a symbol of art and life, rather than just scribbles on the wall, so all works are reviewed by citizens, revised repeatedly, and nine drafts are made before the final appearance of Graffiti Street is formed. It is not as difficult to understand as Italian abstract paintings. Many works are derived from life and are higher than life.

I think the people who live here every day should be happy. Are the children here exposed to art since childhood?

By Yu Zongzheng |

The graffiti street is very short. It is just a row of dormitory buildings with graffiti, and there are a few walls in front of it with graffiti. If you love taking pictures, you can go there to take more pictures. If you are not interested in taking pictures, I don’t recommend going there. Because there is nothing except a few walls. There is also a pig flower shop that is delicious, but the shop is a bit dirty.

By Aurevoir |

When I passed by Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, I saw a lot of graffiti.

By VIVI |

The graffiti street didn’t impress me too much. It looked a lot like the Guangzhou Red Brick Factory. I’ve seen too many buildings similar to the Graffiti Creative Park and I’m numb to it.

By Cute Wonderland |

As soon as you leave the gates of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, you'll find a graffiti street. (It's said to be the largest graffiti art work in China and even the world today, but I've only heard about it...)

I just can’t appreciate it…

It felt old, the colors dull, and there was nothing surprising about it. I didn't even want to believe that this was the beautiful graffiti street in the photos online. I took a few symbolic photos and went to the Traffic Teahouse.

By Take a break, Huang Xiaopang |

The actual scene is older and dirtier than the photos of tourists, which is quite disappointing. If you don't have a lot of time or are not very dedicated to art, I think you don't need to come here specifically to see it.

By 🍀Wang Xiaotian |

To the left of the gate of the Academy of Fine Arts is a graffiti street, which is known as the largest art district in China. Generally, graffiti is painted on the walls facing the street, but the graffiti on this street is painted on the exterior walls of buildings. The old streets immediately look brand new and youthful. It is said that this graffiti street is applying for the Guinness World Record and is expected to become the longest graffiti street in the world. The visual effect is greatly reduced on rainy days.

By Girl in bright clothes and riding a horse |

The surrounding art scene is quite rich. Checking in at the internet-famous graffiti building under the blue sky is a unique experience. I truly admire the people who created these works back then. I bow down to them.

By Geng Zhilu |

There are big graffiti on many houses. The awkward part is that all the shops are on the first floor. You can only take pictures of the houses, not of yourself and the houses.

By Peggy |

The buildings on both sides of the road are all covered in graffiti. The artistic atmosphere is really strong. Although the buildings are a bit old, it does not affect their artistic style. It is the first time to see buildings covered with graffiti, and it is still amazing!

By Two meow meow meow |

While graffiti artists elsewhere can only release their creative urges late at night, an entire street in Huangjueping is dedicated to art, with a myriad of bizarre graffiti covering every wall. This exuberant spirit has transformed the once dilapidated street into the world's largest collection of graffiti.

Graffiti is a common sight in Huangjueping, where avant-garde artists and ordinary residents coexist harmoniously on the same street, creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflects the underworld spirit of Chongqing. This area was once a favorite living area for Chongqing artists.

By China-TravelNote users |

I have to admire Chongqing's online publicity. The so-called famous graffiti street is just a street with many dilapidated buildings on the roadside that are about to be demolished. The patterns on the outer edges make it look more beautiful and can also serve as a scene.

By Stars Sinking into the Blue Sky 110 |

Very nice, very suitable for taking pictures. We hurried around...

By Oo槑小雅oO |

Originally this was a dirty and messy street that needed to be demolished. Thanks to the students of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute who gave it new life with paint, it has become another popular tourist attraction in Chongqing.

By Dragon Soars, Tiger Leaps, Monkey Treasures |

I am deeply impressed by the tolerance of the society, the understanding of the people and the support of the school, which allowed the students to turn the walls and buildings along the street into canvases, using bold colors and exaggerated style.

By Stay at ease |

I passed by this place on my way to Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. It was really nice. The outside of the residential buildings were all covered in graffiti, which was really interesting.

By Maple Travel World |

The streets, transformed by graffiti, have gotten rid of their shabby appearance, making it a free tourist attraction for young people to check in.

This graffiti street is filled with artistic atmosphere. Every building has graffiti on its exterior wall.

By cerber |

Before I saw the main entrance of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, I first saw the legendary graffiti street. I wonder how art students can be so creative? Many of the graffiti pieces are quite creative, even though the graffiti these days looks so thick, you can't tell how many layers have been applied. It's also become a holy place for fans to express their love for their idols.

I'm in awe of the graffiti painted on buildings. The whole building has a single style, and different buildings have different styles. It's dazzling and truly beautiful. As staid liberal arts students, we don't have such wild imaginations, so I can only admire them.

By Lift the corners of your mouth |

The graffiti street has given new life to the old street.

By Small town |

Huangjueping Graffiti Street is actually a street just outside Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. The buildings and walls along both sides of the street are covered in graffiti. Everyone in our group thought this popular check-in spot was just average; in person, it was just a dingy, messy old town, uninspiring. However, the photos turned out quite well, making it a popular check-in spot for those with a fresh, artistic flair.

By Looking forward to Andy |

The whole building is covered with graffiti, which is very beautiful.

By Choco🐨 |

It was quite shocking to see the entire building covered in graffiti.

By Happy boy |

Get off at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute or Huangjueping Station. As soon as you step off the train, you'll be greeted by vibrant graffiti adorning the buildings on both sides of the road, a reminder that you're nearing Sichuan Fine Arts Institute's Graffiti Street. It feels a bit like the "introduction" we use in our classrooms: it's unobtrusive and naturally guides you to your destination. Sichuan Fine Arts Institute's Graffiti Street isn't very long, so you can explore it quickly. If you have time, you can also explore the nearby old campus of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.

By Wang Liangji |

You can see it at the entrance of the Huangjueping campus of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. There are graffiti on the surrounding buildings, but because it has been there for a long time, the colors are not conspicuous, and some of them can no longer be seen clearly.

By 💭 |

Graffiti Street is right outside the main entrance of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. The entire street is covered in graffiti. But perhaps because I had high expectations, I wasn't impressed when I saw it in person, and was a bit disappointed.

By Year 18 |

The street is not long, and the walls of the houses are covered with graffiti. It is right in front of the old Sichuan Fine Arts Museum.

By jovial starry sky |

In order to see the graffiti street, I went to Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. As soon as I got off the car, I could feel the artistic atmosphere. There were paintings on the walls of the houses.

There's a glass graffiti wall outside Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. It's a mix of various elements, a collection of various paintings. From a distance, the colorful wall looks pretty nice, but a bit messy.

By shen |

It's very artistic, but it's not all over the street, it's scattered

By Go play |

The residential buildings seem to perform magic tricks, displaying lively and vivid graffiti that makes people smile unconsciously and feel the freedom and liveliness of this city.

The graffiti has various signatures, proving that people from all over the world have passed through Chongqing.

By Chili Pepper |

Outside the school is the famous Graffiti Street, where the walls of the buildings along the street are covered in all kinds of graffiti. It is full of beauty. I see it while waiting for the bus, while buying a drink, while taking a walk, and the graffiti fills every brick.

By Xiao U's mysterious guest |

The Sichuan Fine Arts Institute campus is still very artistic, but a lot of the graffiti on the street has been removed, which is a bit disappointing.

By Xiaolongbao's mother |

I was really looking forward to the graffiti street, as it was said to be great for taking photos. However, it wasn't, as it was full of storefronts. I could only take photos of the scenery, not the perfect combination of people and scenery. However, I still admire the graffiti artists!

By Little cute doudou TT |

I went there during the Dragon Boat Festival. There were a lot of people and cars. The graffiti on the house has faded. I just took a quick look.
