Chongqing People's Grand Hall

Chongqing People's Grand Auditorium is located on Renmin Road. Built in the 1950s, it is an imitation of ancient ethnic buildings and one of Chongqing's unique landmark buildings.
The Great Hall adopts the architectural features of the Ming and Qing dynasties, with traditional central axis symmetry, and its appearance is modeled after the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.
Chongqing is the center for large-scale gatherings and performances. Important meetings and international conferences such as the Chongqing Party Congress, the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, the Chongqing CPPCC, and the unveiling ceremony of the Chongqing Municipal Government's direct-controlled listing have all been held here.
At night, the auditorium is very beautiful under the lights, and there are many local aunts dancing in the square in front of the auditorium.

Located in Xuetianwan, Renmin Road, Yuzhong District, the building, completed in April 1954, is a complex of imitation ancient ethnic buildings. It is one of Chongqing's ten cultural symbols and a unique landmark. Its majestic and magnificent architecture is a masterpiece that skillfully blends traditional Chinese palace architecture with the wide-span structures of Western architecture. Its extraordinary architectural artistry is renowned both domestically and internationally. In September 2016, the Chongqing People's Great Hall was selected as one of the first batch of China's 20th-century architectural heritage sites.

By Walking on the snow |

Transportation: Take Line 2 and get off at Zengjiayan. Go through the long tunnel to Chongqing People's Square, where you can see the Great Hall.

The tunnel is really long, and it takes about 15 minutes to walk through it. In the tunnel, you can see aunties dancing in the square during the day. It must be quite cold outside in the winter. You can also see small vendors doing business in the tunnel, which is enough to show how long the tunnel is. The Great Hall is not free to visit, and it costs 10 yuan to enter. After reading the online reviews, I didn’t think it was necessary, so I didn’t go in. Chongqing people should all know that it was here when Chongqing was declared a municipality directly under the central government. From the outside, I think the appearance of the Great Hall is quite similar to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. If you want to take a panoramic view of the Great Hall, you can go to the Three Gorges Museum, which is located opposite the Great Hall. Standing on the platform of the Three Gorges Museum, you can overlook the Great Hall and take a panoramic view.

The Chongqing People's Auditorium is quite large. Going up the stairs, there is a ticket shop on the right, which costs ten yuan per person. After entering, I immediately felt that it was not worth the money. It was just the auditorium, really just the auditorium. There was a unit rehearsing for an evening party inside. I didn't give up and walked around for a while, hahahaha, I came to the art exhibition we wanted to see, which was inside the auditorium. I instantly felt that it was worth the money. Although I don't understand painting, I really like to look at the mountain city in the painting. The terrain, buildings, and trails of the mountain city are all painted very well (I don't have such an opportunity myself, and I don't know where to see this kind of scene. I think it's very interesting and novel. I still want to see such a real thing if I have the chance, although the chance is slim).

Whether it's night or day, the exterior or interior of this 1950s building is incredibly beautiful, with a subtle hint of Beijing's Great Hall of the People, truly worthy of being the "temporary capital." If you have time when visiting Chongqing, be sure to stop by and take a look.

The Chongqing People's Grand Auditorium is a replica of an ancient ethnic building complex and one of Chongqing's unique landmarks. The building is majestic and magnificent, a masterpiece that cleverly combines traditional Chinese palace architecture with the wide-span structures of Western architecture. It is renowned both domestically and internationally for its extraordinary architectural artistry. This stunning building is a must-see:

1. Take Metro Line 2, Daxigou Station, Exit A. It takes more than 10 minutes to find the Great Hall, which is quite confusing. The best way to get to the Great Hall is to take bus No. 112 Inner Ring, 145, 152, 181, 262, or 322 and get off at the Great Hall Station. Then, go past the Antique City and you will reach the People's Square next to the Great Hall.

2. The ticket is only 10 yuan, which is good value for money. The opening hours are from 8:30 to 17:00, and the visit takes about an hour. The interior is still very interesting. Take pictures from various angles from the first to the third floor, and you will have a different aesthetic feeling.

3. The Great Hall will hold parties, concerts and other activities from time to time. Interested parties please pay attention to the announcement;

4. Pets are not allowed in People's Square. There will be fountains and music at night, making it the best place for a stroll.

How should I put it? The exterior of this place is the same as the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. You can go inside, but I didn't go in.

It's very majestic. Although I just checked in by the way, I gave it a good review overall.

By Kanye on the road |

The appearance of the auditorium is very magnificent and the color matching is very appropriate.

The Chongqing Grand Auditorium is magnificent. The long walk under the scorching sun of this mountain city finally brought Monkey to tears.

By sansa |

This is actually the first time I've been there since I was a kid.

It's very beautiful and close to the Three Gorges Museum

By Far network short, flat and fast |

Many large-scale events and performances are held here, and concerts have also been held here.

By Little Titi's old father |

Since I booked a hotel here, I went for a stroll right after getting up that morning. It's very close to Zhongshan 4th Road, which is best visited in the morning. So, if you're visiting Chongqing, I recommend staying near the Great Hall and then heading out to Zhongshan 4th Road the next day. It's a great idea. The Great Hall and the Three Gorges Museum face each other, with a large square in between. It's packed with elderly people exercising and joggers, giving you a taste of everyday life in the city.

By Fan Jiavi |

It's just a small Temple of Heaven. The exterior is very spectacular, with a square in front, the Three Gorges Museum directly opposite, and the city government diagonally opposite. I didn't go inside because there are too many steps.

By Pig 0 jogging |

Opposite the Three Gorges Museum is the Chongqing Grand Auditorium, so you can take a look at it [proud]. But the line dancing in the square is a bit too exciting 😎

By Old Horse |

The classical beauty of Chongqing Grand Theater's exterior and the structural beauty of its interior complement each other, attracting countless fans.

By Lonely old soul |

There is a large square in front of the auditorium. Every evening, many people come here to exercise and dance square dances. It is a good place to relax.

By Cheu Chen Rourou |

The museum opens at 8:30 AM. We arrived around 9:00 AM and spent about an hour exploring.

The classic camera position is on the opposite Three Gorges Museum, shooting in a symmetrical form. The night view is even more beautiful~

The Chongqing People's Grand Hall is located on Renmin Road. It was built in the 1950s and its appearance is modeled after the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.

There is a square in front of the auditorium where many middle-aged women are dancing.

If you want to take a panoramic photo of the Great Hall, you can go to the platform of the Three Gorges Museum opposite the Great Hall and look out over the Great Hall.

The building looks nice, and I like the color scheme. It's a new building, built in 1993. It looks like it has been renovated since then. When I got there, I suddenly felt like I had a small Forbidden City. Haha

By Chen Jiamao |

There are few people and the decoration is original enough, so it is easy to take pictures. It is suitable for photography enthusiasts, as well as old uncles and aunts. If you are traveling with your elders, it is a must-see attraction.

By Strawberry Summer |

It feels like the Temple of Heaven, and I can't help but want to burn incense.

Across from the Great Hall of the People is the Three Gorges Museum. Isn't that great? It's great to visit both attractions together.

By Old pomegranate |

The auditorium is a magnificent building. It feels very similar to the Temple of Heaven. It is a similar Ming and Qing architectural complex. The traditional colors of red and green are very impressive. It is a meeting place when you go in, so you didn't go in to see it. The ticket is 10 yuan. Sisters who are interested can go in and take a look.

By Wisdom |

The shape is similar to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. It is quite spectacular. I visited it when I went to the Three Gorges Museum.

By jine1120 |

The Great Hall of the People is even more distinctive, incorporating Ming and Qing architectural features and modeled after the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. I sat on the steps in front of the Great Hall for a long time, watching the sky gradually darken in the evening, and watching local residents playing with their children and elderly people strolling after dinner. It was a vibrant place filled with the atmosphere of life.

By No ideal sheep |

You only need to look at the exterior of the Great Hall of the People. Inside is just a conference hall with no elevator or air conditioning. After spending 10 yuan on the ticket, I still recommend that you don't go in. Just look at the outside.

By Little Creek |

I walked around the periphery, took in the night view, and felt the humidity and heat of Chongqing in summer.

Walking out of the museum and crossing the People's Square, you will see the Great Hall of the People. The exterior is very spectacular, but the inside is just a place that looks like a theater. It costs 10 yuan per person, which I personally don't think is worth it. However, a few days after our visit, Joe Hisaishi held a concert for "Castle in the Sky" in this auditorium, so we were able to see the busy figures of the staff.

By Cao Wenhan |

The exterior is beautiful, but the interior is average. You don't have to spend money to get in.

The ticket price is 10 yuan. It is just opposite the Three Gorges Museum and is one of the must-visit places for group tours by foreign tourists.

Apart from Beijing, it is estimated that only Chongqing, the red base, has such a magnificent building. The dome is similar to the Temple of Heaven, and you can also go in and visit it.

Get off at Daxigou Light Rail Station

Walk about 900 meters to reach the destination

The Great Hall of the People is very similar to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing

Ticket price: 10 yuan per person

The auditorium is located at the entrance and up the stairs.

Four floors in total

If you like ancient buildings, you can go and see it.

There's nothing to see except the auditorium.

Walk around for about half an hour

Personally, I think it’s a good choice to take photos if there aren’t too many people.

Does the Great Hall of the People require a ticket? The Three Gorges Museum across the street is so huge, has amazing air conditioning, and it's free!!! Why don't you get air conditioning if you pay? Forget it, forget it. I chose the spots myself, and I'll see them all even if I get a heat stroke.

By Uzimi |

The Chongqing People's Grand Hall is opposite the Chongqing Three Gorges Museum. It is very magnificent. It is recommended that you go and see it and visit the museum at the same time.

By cerber |

At first glance, it feels magnificent, the colors are so bright, and it looks so grand and solemn.

I walked up a very long and tall staircase, but there was nothing upstairs and I had to pay extra money to go in. I gave up and walked down the very long and tall staircase again, feeling a little overwhelmed.

By TiAmo |

The Great Hall of the People is just across from the Three Gorges Museum. Students can get half-price tickets with their student ID (I used my college entrance exam admission ticket). There are art exhibitions in the corridors on both sides, and the auditorium is just ahead. I personally don't think it's a good deal.

By Zuo Zuo |

It looked quite spectacular from the outside when I first visited. My first thought was the Temple of Heaven, right?! It's quite nice to have the Three Gorges Museum across the street. The old alleys behind it have a very Chongqing feel!

By Walking on the road |

Across from the Three Gorges Museum, where Chongqing leaders hold meetings, I was surprised to find that you could actually go inside and visit. Tickets are 10 yuan per person. It's a good thing that you can visit a place like this, so who cares what there is to see inside?

It's a large auditorium, so you can take a nap in any seat. The only downside is that there's no air conditioning. I fell asleep in the sweltering heat, then woke up hot again. It was much cooler in the shade of the trees outside in the square, where there was still some breeze.

By ONE Piece |

This auditorium is located opposite the Three Gorges Museum and next to the city government. At first glance, it looks very similar to the Temple of Heaven and has a very ancient style.

By kittyrain |

The main structure of the auditorium resembles the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, while the decorative patterns within its interior are imbued with a sense of ethnic culture. Its stepped, magnificent structure is even more impressive than the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Guangzhou. Interested parties may wish to visit this Chongqing landmark.

By Wandering around the world |

Chongqing People's Hall is very grand, with a large square in front and good greenery. However, the surrounding terrain is complex. Apart from the square, there is little to do and shop. Fortunately, the Three Gorges Museum opposite is OK.

By Auspicious wind from the south |

The exterior is nice, you can just take pictures at the entrance of the Three Gorges Museum, no need to go in and waste 10 yuan.

By Round apples |

The exterior is somewhat similar to buildings in Beijing. The steps are so high, much higher than those in Beijing. I wondered how the veteran party members in Chongqing could manage to climb so many steps during meetings. They must be in great shape! Maybe they're just used to climbing mountains.

By Douyang |

The first time I saw it, I felt it was very majestic, almost as majestic as the buildings in the imperial capital. The ticket price is 10 yuan per person, and half price with a student ID. The red chairs inside always make me feel a very serious atmosphere. In fact, there is nothing to visit in the auditorium. You can just visit the magnificent architecture inside and take a photo.

By 📷 Mon. ♏ |

One of Chongqing's characteristic attractions, the entrance fee is 10 yuan per person. It is very comfortable with air conditioning. If you don't take pictures, there is actually nothing to see inside (covering your face like a bee), and the night view is average.

One of Chongqing's iconic landmarks, the Great Hall of the People has graced the walls of major events, including the National People's Congress, the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Awards ceremony. From a distance, it exudes elegance, stability, and grace. It's a well-deserved symbol of Chongqing.

By China-TravelNote users |

You really don't need to buy a ticket to go in and visit, there is nothing inside. We bought tickets and went in to sit for a while.

It's great to take photos and check in outside and post them on social media. The interior is very simple. There is basically nothing to see in the whole meeting place except for the tables and chairs. It is recommended to just appreciate it from outside. Tickets are 10 yuan per person at the entrance to the auditorium. Inside, on the third floor, there are diagrams showing the history of Chongqing and the atmosphere. It's said to be the venue for the annual Chongqing Spring Festival Gala and various congresses. The four-story building, while a bit dated, is quite impressive, especially the dome. The entire auditorium resembles the Temple of Heaven.

The grandeur of the imperial capital is unparalleled, and the ancient architectural style is very distinctive.

The auditorium is actually just an auditorium, resembling the Temple of Heaven's Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. Inside, there are four tiers of seating. Tickets are 10 yuan, with student IDs giving you half price. The stage is cordoned off, so you can take photos if it's quiet.
