Chongqing Zoo, located in the western suburbs of Chongqing, was founded in 1954 and covers 45 hectares. It's one of the largest zoos in China, regularly exhibiting over 230 species and 4,000 animals. It's one of the largest urban zoos in China. It's a favorite place for children, but I haven't been back since my children grew up.

By Young lemon |

My first review after years of lurking on China-TravelNote is dedicated to the Chongqing Zoo. Today I saw mainland China's only remaining clouded leopard in a zoo, and also a golden cat. They were both asleep, but that was good luck, considering they're both nocturnal cats! The zoo overall was very pleasant, with many enclosures meticulously designed to reflect both aesthetics and the animals' natural habits. There were plenty of monkeys. Perhaps because I'm from the north, I always felt their living quarters were a bit dark and damp, not as comfortable as the big cats in the wild animal enclosures. Also, the puma is lame in its left front paw, and I'm not sure what's wrong. I couldn't find a staff member to report the situation, but otherwise, it was fine. Overall, I was satisfied.

The ticket is 25 yuan, and it’s quite big inside, a conscience of the industry!

By When will we meet again? |

Unexpectedly, I decided to go to the zoo on a whim. The tickets were not expensive. There were many pandas, big and small, super cute. I could watch them sleep for a whole day.

It is indeed worth a visit. The animal species, park scenery, and infrastructure construction are all first-class.

The original intention of going to Chongqing Zoo was because you don’t have to buy separate tickets to see the giant pandas. The zoo ticket is 30 for adults and 15 for students.

Later, I thought about it carefully. The ticket for Beijing Zoo is 15 yuan, and the ticket for Panda House is 5 yuan. So it is cheaper than Chongqing Zoo.

Although the zoo closes at 6 p.m., many animals were sent back into the house by their keepers around 5 p.m.

I quickened my pace to see the penguins, but when I arrived I walked around the museum twice before I saw the penguins swimming behind a glass wall at the back.

The zoo is very big. Although it is summer vacation, there are not many tourists. However, I still recommend that you come in the morning. First, there are more animals, and second, you can take your time to see them without rushing.

Our destination was clear: the panda enclosure. Chongqing Zoo supposedly has 17 pandas, but only five or six were out to greet visitors that day. These national treasures, true to their name, were adorable, sprawled out, chewing on bamboo. Their adorable behavior made me want to rub their ears. We also spotted a baby giraffe, perched at the entrance, peering out from time to time. Its cautious expression was truly adorable. The supposed dinosaur enclosure opened right after us, but we were startled. The simulated dinosaur roars had several children crying. The exhibits were quite informative, including dinosaur fossils.

Overall, the Chongqing Zoo isn't very large, and a leisurely stroll with a child should take about an hour. The animals live in a comfortable environment, with ample space for activities, plenty of food and water, and plenty of recreational facilities. The gardens are lush with greenery, and the air is moist, making walking through them a very pleasant experience.

Chongqing Zoo is built in the urban area. What impressed me most was that there was a residential building next to the giraffe house. Residents living nearby can appreciate the animals quietly every day. There are also penguins, and it is outdoors. Maybe even the penguins have become accustomed to the hot and humid weather in Chongqing.

By China-TravelNote users |

The animals are pretty good, but it was crowded when we went there and it was hard to park.

By Strange corner stopped |

The ticket price is very cheap, only 30 yuan for the whole ticket. There are many animals inside. It is recommended to go in the morning. We went in the afternoon, so we didn't see some. There is a bird show in the morning, and if you go too late, you won't be able to see it. The place is very big, and it will take several hours to visit all of it.

Where to go? There are zoos in almost every city, but why do we recommend the Chongqing Zoo in Jiulongpo District? The mountainous terrain makes this zoo particularly pristine. Many of the zoos are built against the mountain, giving the animals ample space to roam. Just inside the main gate are the Red Panda and Giant Panda Pavilions, both of which are outdoors.

By Not in vain |

Chongqing Zoo is right next to the subway station and easy to find. I went during peak season, and the price was 30 yuan for adults and 15 yuan for students. You can use a public transportation card to enter, which is a 9.5% discount. Once inside, there are roughly three sections: dinosaur area, raptor area, water park area, amphibian area, bird area, and herbivore area. The food inside is okay and not particularly expensive. Cold noodles are 8 yuan, and hot and sour noodles are 12 yuan. Feeding is prohibited in the zoo, but of course many people still do it. I would like to remind all visitors to be civilized when watching.

I went to the Chongqing Zoo with my friends. I was surprised by the diverse animal species there: adorable giant pandas, kind and docile elephants, kangaroos, cute alpacas, goats, short-legged horses, huge rhinos, white tigers, and majestic black bears, lions, and giraffes.

By oppps |

Chongqing Zoo: ¥30 per person, half price with student ID. Maybe the weather was not good that day, so the animals were not very impressive. However, many parents brought their children to play and took it as a walk.

I went to the Chongqing Zoo. The scenery was beautiful. I wonder what kind of plants there were! The pandas were so cute!

By 🎇🌠🎆 |

I also want to say that Chongqing Zoo is very cost-effective. The ticket price is 20 yuan. You can see different things all afternoon! Recommended!

By Ma Douzi |

I went to the Chongqing Zoo just for the pandas. While it's not as good as the Chengdu Panda Base, I still saw plenty of giant pandas, which made up for not going to Chengdu. I rushed to the zoo early in the morning. Since it wasn't a weekend, most of the people in the zoo were foreigners (I don't know why there were so many foreigners), families with very young children 👪! There were also a lot of grandparents with their grandchildren, which was so heartwarming!

By Small point |

Chongqing Zoo is still worth a visit. The whole zoo is like a forest park, comparable to many wildlife parks. There are many animals, including 7 or 8 giant pandas.

By bicycle chain drop |

There are two places to see pandas. The one next to the East Second Gate is the Panda Cub Pavilion, and the Panda House inside has adult pandas. Personally, I think the Panda Cub Pavilion is clearer and it's more fun to see them playing together.

By VI_TUTU |

The Chongqing Zoo feels like it's also built on a mountain. We hiked up to see the giant pandas first. My son was a bit confused at first, but then he got interested and started laughing. So many people were watching, and it's clear everyone loves pandas! Chongqing Zoo, probably because it's not far from Chengdu, has so many pandas. In Shanghai, you'd only have two or three! There were so many animals, and we spent the whole day there!

Chongqing Zoo is located in Jiulongpo District. Take Light Rail Line 2 and get off at the zoo. There are about six large and small pandas in the zoo. Crowds flock to see them feed every day; they're natural foodies, delighted by the sight of fresh bamboo. Pandas happily feast on bamboo, as if bamboo is the only delicious food in the world. Panda Lingling lives alone in a luxurious villa, enjoying exclusive luxury. The hippopotamus is adorable, enjoying a bath every day. The lonely giraffe gazes out the window; besides grazing, it finds poetry and distant horizons. The tiger, the king of beasts, strolls through the garden every day, pondering his life. The raccoon, like the raccoon in Master Kong instant noodles. The cormorant, with its enormous mouth, waits to be fed. Goats, waiting to be fed by tourists, can see penguins here without even going to Antarctica. 🐧

By Aspirations soar high |

The weather was nice, so I took the kids to the Chongqing Zoo. Built into the mountainside, it's huge and packed with animals. The kids had a blast wandering around for the entire morning, and it's definitely worth a visit. Perhaps because it's so close to Sichuan, there are so many adorable giant pandas, the national treasure.

By Sister Duole |

We went to the Chongqing Zoo. Tickets cost 30 yuan, and students 15 yuan. You need to provide your student ID; they'll check your registration stamp and date to determine if you're a current student. There's a map printed on the back of your ticket. We looked at the many animals, and we estimated it would take about three hours to see them all. As soon as we entered, we saw red pandas. They looked exactly like the little raccoon noodles we used to eat as children. They stood up when someone fed them, which was so adorable. Next to the red pandas were the giant pandas I'd been longing for. There were three of them playing around. These national treasures are so cute, so adorable, climbing up and down, falling down, and then continuing again. Some say they're just agile and fat.

By Wisdom_Not_Wisdom_ |

I saw pandas! I was so happy. I spent 30 yuan to see pandas, which was very satisfying. There were also many other animals to see, such as elephants, zebras, antelopes, and alpacas... It's a very large zoo, and those who don't like to see many animals should go there.

The Chongqing Olympic Sports Center, mentioned earlier, is located in Jiulongpo District, and the Chongqing Zoo is also in the same district. I've only been to the Chongqing Zoo once, but it left a deep impression. About ten years ago, the ostriches at the zoo were free-range, and they were allowed to walk alongside visitors. However, after some online research, I don't think this is the case anymore. Back then, I felt incredibly close to the ostriches, who walked their own paths and showed no signs of shyness when encountering visitors. This alone made the experience far superior to that at the Chengdu Zoo.

I vaguely recall that the birds were free-range ostriches back then, but unfortunately, due to the long time since then, I can't find any photos from that period. Even if I did, the quality would be quite poor. After all, the cameras back then didn't have the same resolution as today's phones, and the photos taken by those phones look like they've been blurred.

Tickets to the Taipei Zoo are quite reasonable, costing 30 yuan per person during peak season. The panda enclosure is right inside, and next to the giant pandas are the red pandas. Oh, and please, stop calling the red pandas raccoons; they're two different animals! Watching the giant pandas eat bamboo is truly fascinating. They're incredibly energetic, scraping the bamboo and peeling off the skin with their mouths, only eating the tenderest parts. They're truly picky eaters. The little pandas are so adorable; one kept sticking its tongue out at us, and it practically melted my heart!

Although Chongqing is a mountain city, there is no need to climb mountains to go to the zoo, right? As a result, the zoo is also three-dimensional and I had to climb countless stairs. In the end, I was too tired to walk and wanted to sit down. After entering the park, the first thing I saw was the dinosaur area, which attracted many children. The second level of stairs was for giant pandas. Then I went up. There were only a few of each kind of animal in the zoo, but there were quite a few species. After walking around them all, my feet were exhausted.

I went to see the pandas and bought a 30-yuan ticket. The park's facilities were excellent, and the statues lining the road were incredibly lifelike. There were two large areas, and when I walked in, I saw my favorite red pandas. I initially thought there were only two, but I discovered a whole bunch of them in a hut in the distance—at least five or six. It was the first time I'd seen so many red pandas, and I couldn't stop taking photos.

There are so many pandas at the Chongqing Zoo. At first, I saw three areas and thought there were only three. But wouldn't it be embarrassing for a panda breeding facility to have only three? Later, I discovered there were seven in total, four of which were from the same family. This was the first time I'd seen so many pandas in a single zoo, and of such diverse age groups. It more or less made up for my regret of not visiting the Chengdu Panda Breeding Base.

I went there with my friends on the weekend. It was pretty good. I spent a morning there. After watching and walking, I was tired. The only difference was that the fences for rhinos and camels were under repair. I didn't see them. The animals were so lazy. They were all lying down and sleeping, or sitting still.

Before I went, many people told me, "Don't go, Siyi, it's stinky," or "It's too crowded and not fun at all!" But after I went, I realized it's actually quite amazing! Aside from some areas where sheep and cattle are raised, which can have a slight odor (but there are sweet osmanthus trees planted nearby), everything else is wonderful, odorless! And, ever the curious kid in me, I found the zoo truly worth exploring. Oh, and adults can definitely bring their kids along! It's quite fun!

Chongqing Zoo: Admission is 30 yuan, with student tickets half-price. The recommended visit time is 3 hours. My visit coincided with the animals' nap time, and the heat kept them from coming out, so I didn't see many. Chongqing is quite hot, so be sure to bring water during summer travel to avoid heatstroke.

It rained in Chongqing yesterday, so I took some flower tea, picked up my baby, and headed straight to the zoo early this morning. Fortunately, there were many trees in the zoo, so it didn’t feel particularly hot!

The baby likes this place very much. There are many small animals. Although he is only 2 years old, he can name many of them. It’s really great!

It was too sunny at noon, so we went to the CapitaLand Plaza across the street to eat Country Style Chicken. We had a chicken chop, my baby ate the meal, and I ate the chicken chop. Haha, we were very happy. After eating, we walked around for a while and then went home!

By The moon is everywhere |

Chongqing Zoo, also known as the Western Suburbs Zoo, is incredibly large and filled with countless animals. However, I don't know if it's due to overcrowding or oversight, but when I visited, many of the animals' feces were piled up and no one was cleaning them up. The rhinoceros and horse feces were quite smelly. I didn't see any pythons during the winter, and the amphibians were all hibernating, but it was still quite scary to see them. Forgive my timidity. If you have a weekend free time, take the kids there; they'll definitely be delighted.

By Xiwei |

I went twice with my family and it was okay. We just walked around the entire zoo, and seeing all the animals was a bit tiring. I've wanted to see pandas for a long time. I love pandas, too. I finally got to see one. But after seeing it, I felt like I'd been cheated. Why are all the pandas on TV white and black? But the pandas there are all black and yellow? Maybe they haven't showered in ages? 😔 This made me a little depressed. Other than that, everything else was great. I recommend taking your kids. The animals are quite diverse and really informative.

Located in Yangjiaping, Jiulongpo, you can reach it directly by light rail.

The ticket price is 20 yuan per person in the off-season and 30 yuan per person in the peak season. It is a must-visit place for Chongqing parents to take their children for the first time.

There are many people selling food for the animals at the entrance. If you want to interact with the animals, you can buy some.

I came here just to see the pandas and peacocks. Especially the pandas, they are so cute.

On the back of the ticket, there is a guide map of the zoo. In fact, the Chongqing Zoo is not small, and it still takes some time to visit. You can use the guide map to select the animals you want to see.

My favorite is the panda. They're a little dirty, with yellow fur. One of them is called Yaya. She's super cute when she eats.

Another thing I want to recommend is the cute monkeys.

But it would be better if there is a tour guide.

Chongqing Zoo, located in Yangjiaping, Jiulongpo District, across from Kowloon Plaza, is the largest zoo in downtown Chongqing. Take Light Rail Line 2 (bound for Yudong) and get off at Zoo Station. The zoo boasts mountains and lakes, lush green trees, verdant grass, and vibrant flowers. The lake is connected by islands, curved bridges, and pavilions. The lake is home to schools of ornamental fish, which are often fed by children, creating a lively atmosphere. The zoo boasts Tiger Hill, Bear Hill, an Orangutan House, a Panda House, an Elephant House, a Giraffe House, an Antelope House, a Rhino and Hippo House, a Goldfish House, and a Bird's Singing Forest. When I visited at noon, most of the giant pandas were soundly asleep, with only one still playing and climbing a tree, attracting crowds of visitors. The zoo also boasts adorable alpacas, ostriches that leisurely stroll among visitors, and monkeys enclosed behind glass, rather than iron bars, allowing visitors to observe them up close. It's a great place to bring children to play and learn about animals.

By Ty Dillon talking to himself |

I never expected that the first request of my child when he arrived in Chongqing was to go to the zoo. Well, fortunately it is not far away, so going to see the animals first is also a good choice.

Environment: The ticket price for the zoo is okay, free for children and 30 yuan for adults. You have to pay for the rides yourself, but compared with the theme park, it is still much more economical.

Service: There is nothing beyond expectations in the zoo, whether in terms of animals or rides, but the service is definitely beyond expectations. There is a service hall a hundred meters away for eating, which provides special snacks. It is clean, hygienic and affordable. Although it is not a big meal, you will not be hungry after a day of strolling around. This shows the shrewdness of Chongqing people. In addition, the workmanship of the themed doll souvenirs is also good, and the price is moderate, which is very impressive.

Theme: The park is not big, but it has all the animals and the rides are also acceptable. The dinosaur park is really good. It is built and displayed according to the evolution period of dinosaurs. You can walk along the terrain, and the dinosaurs are very realistic. It really left a deep impression on a 10-year-old child. The child not only took many photos of dinosaurs, but also took many group photos. She also used a lot of her own works in the picture book for her summer homework. This should be a good result for her age.

Transportation: We took a bus that was wobbly all the way. As it is a bit far from the city center, there were fewer and fewer people on the bus, so taking a taxi should not be too expensive.

Others: Sometimes when parents take their children out, most of them actually respect the children's wishes and let the children choose. This adds more meaning to the play itself.

The zoo is easily accessible by bus and is easily accessible via Line 2.

Do you find my pictures interesting? If so, give it a thumbs up! You can imagine what a zoo is like, but I have to admit the Chongqing Zoo isn't very good. Some of the animals don't look very good. However, long-term Chongqing residents should definitely take their children there to learn about the animals. The fake dinosaurs in the dinosaur hall actually move, which is quite interesting for children. There are also plenty of shopping spots for souvenirs, though they're a bit pricey.

It still takes most of the day to play around. You can bring your own dry food or eat the hot and sour noodles inside. It is recommended to bring your own because the food inside is expensive and not tasty.

By The highest good is like water |

Chongqing Zoo is big, but it is very tiring to climb up the mountain. However, I used my connections to avoid paying for the entrance fee.

By Heavy rain, huh? |

Although I graduated from university at the age of 23, I still keep a childlike heart, and the zoo is a must-visit place every time I go to a city.

To visit the Chongqing Zoo, take Metro Line 2 and get off at Chongqing Zoo Station. Exit B, turn right, and walk about 100 meters until you see the zoo gate. Admission is 30 yuan, with discounted tickets costing 15 yuan. Students are advised to bring their student ID to save half the price.

Entering from the main entrance is a square with a map. You can choose to tour the area clockwise or counterclockwise. Walking through the square, the first exhibit features giant and red pandas, but they're all asleep and not very lively at all (see Figure 2). We toured the area counterclockwise. On the right, we first arrived at the Bird's Singing Forest. I'm a bird lover, so this place is a paradise for me. There are cormorants, swans, red-crowned cranes, peacocks, and ostriches. I was incredibly lucky to see a peacock spread its feathers—it was stunning (see Figure 1). Funny, the ostriches weren't in their enclosures; they were running around the mountain. Their large, sharp glasses looked a bit scary. The Bird's Singing Forest is a beautiful place with lots of trees.

Further in, the fish and reptiles are home. Seeing a giant python was terrifying. Continuing forward, we reached our favorite area: the wild animals. The tigers are my favorite, both the golden and white tigers—they're incredibly beautiful. There are also lions, leopards, and bears. In the innermost area is Monkey Mountain, where people tease the monkeys with their own food, which isn't a good idea. The monkey family is enormous: gorillas, baboons, gibbons, and so on. Continuing counterclockwise, we reached the areas with sika deer, rhinos, and hippos—all adorable. There are also rare animals like giraffes and elephants.

On the afternoon we went to the zoo, there were also groups of children from cram schools. Although the Chongqing Zoo isn't large and doesn't have a wide variety of animals, it's quite popular. Highly recommended.

Chongqing Zoo is also pretty good. At least the animals don't look shabby. The zoo is quite large and I spent almost a whole day there. I've selected some of the more funny photos I took, haha~

Chongqing's oldest zoo is very conveniently located just off Zoo Station on Metro Line 2. The zoo holds a special place in the hearts of Chongqing residents, becoming a must-see for almost every school's spring and autumn outings. While it was once quite run-down, it has been renovated in recent years and is now in excellent condition. The 30 yuan ticket price isn't as impressive as a large safari park, but it's well worth the price. The zoo boasts a wide variety of animals, including lions, tigers, giraffes, elephants, and pandas. A full visit takes about half a day, and with the many routes available, it's recommended to plan your itinerary beforehand to avoid unnecessary detours.

I saw many animals here for the first time. The panda impressed me the most. I kept taking pictures with my camera!

It was so hot in Chongqing. I went to see the giant pandas that day but unexpectedly I didn’t see any of them because they were too hot and didn’t come out. Haha, it didn’t matter. I saw many other animals, especially the fox, who was busy running in circles the whole time.

The panda is so black.

It's time to take a bath.

The funniest thing today is that the panda actually went to the toilet.

That was the first time I saw that.

One kid was still yelling:

Come and see, this is the panda’s nest~~~

sweat! ! !
