Boundless forests and grasslands form the southernmost pastures. In summer, the scenery is breathtakingly lush, with a horse racing track, while in winter, the area is blanketed in snow, transforming it into a natural ski resort. A snowstorm fell on New Year's Day, and the subsequent drop in temperature resulted in thick snow clinging to the branches, blanketing the roads in white. This created a spectacular spectacle of rime and icicles, making me wonder if I'd ever been to Northeast China. I felt a slight chill from time to time, and my hand warmer came in handy. The actual temperature was only -1°C, which was quite comfortable.
The snow on the ground was frozen, and many people rented skis and skied down the slope from a high point, accelerating continuously. Starting from the same point, they skied further and further, which was quite interesting. Not wearing snow boots was really a pain. Walking was difficult, and we had to support each other. Only then did we realize the importance of snow boots, so we had to move slowly.
The pure white snow makes me want to take a bite. The cabins in Santa Claus Village are beautiful for taking photos. The green pines and cypresses are set against the white snow. The whole world is quiet. If I had known about Wulong, why would I have gone to the Northeast Scenic Area? The commuter transportation is a small train with several stops, and you can get on and off at any time. The first stop is the prairie, the second stop is the racecourse, and the place after that is very cold and remote. There is nothing to see in winter, so I didn't go there.
The air after the snow is unusually fresh. Perhaps the cold was cured here. The pace of the vacation, with stops and walks, is very pleasant. The colorful magpies in the snow, the black goats, and the ponies on the racecourse all make me happy. I have forgotten the busy life.
The night before New Year's Day, I drove to Xiannvshan Town for a night's stay. Halfway up the mountain, it snowed heavily, and the roads were completely covered in ice. I decided to spend 350 yuan on a set of snow chains and then drove at a snail's pace of 10 km/h. I planned to arrive at 11 a.m., but I finally arrived at 1 a.m. The next day, I headed up the mountain to play in the snow at 9 a.m. I rented a sled for 30 yuan at the prairie parking lot. It was so much fun! (I absolutely had to take the train, or my feet would have worn out from walking.) Remember to wait until you're back down the mountain to remove the snow chains, making sure the roadside is clear of snow. Otherwise, installation is a real hassle.
We went to Fairy Mountain because the name "Fairy" evokes a certain allure. The day before, when we were visiting Tiankeng Difeng (a cenote in the Tiankeng and Difeng), we passed by Fairy Mountain Town (halfway up the mountain) and were already shrouded in thick fog. I'd seen some netizens say that people and animals couldn't be distinguished on Fairy Mountain, so I was torn about whether to go. Finally, I made up my mind and left Wulong Bus Station at 9:00 AM. There's a bus directly to Fairy Mountain for 18 yuan per person. This bus goes through Fairy Mountain Town before heading up the mountain, but it's less frequent than the one to Fairy Mountain Town. Our departure was on the hour, and our return trip was also on the hour. We were lucky today. Despite the overcast weather, we arrived at the Fairy Mountain train station at 10:00 AM. The fog had cleared, and the winding road, lined with pine forests and grasslands, dotted with European-style buildings, had a fairy-like feel. It felt like Switzerland, perfect for photos with women. Tickets were purchased and exchanged at the mountain entrance. The train ticket was an additional 15 yuan per person. We got off the train at the Grand Prairie Station and took a lot of photos. It was already 12 noon when we got on the train again to the end point. Since we had to catch the train in the afternoon and wanted to go back to Guiyuan Xingwang Mutton Soup in Wulong Town to taste the clear soup mutton hotpot, we didn’t get off the train at any of the stations we passed along the way. It was already noon when we returned, and the fog on Fairy Mountain began to gather again. I felt that I was very lucky. The temperature on Fairy Mountain is much lower than that in Wulong County. It is 8 degrees at the foot of the mountain and -2.8 degrees on the mountain, but there is no ice and no snow. Be sure to wear more clothes and keep warm. The indoor and outdoor ice rinks on the mountain are separate. The outdoor rink is in the same place as the Impression Wulong Theater. There are many beautiful hotels in the Fairy Mountain Town halfway up the mountain. I feel that you can see beautiful scenery on a cloudy day on Fairy Mountain, but the fog may be too heavy when it rains.
The first place we arrived at was the glass observation deck, a fully glass platform perched on a precipice. It offered a breathtaking view of Wulong's landscape, but it's a nightmare for those with acrophobia. Being afraid of heights, I couldn't look down, so I could only gaze at the scenery. We then took a bus to the summit of Fairy Mountain, where we took a small train to the grasslands and racecourse. The grasslands in the south are completely different from those in the north, with their undulating terrain. While they lack the vast expanses of the northern grasslands, the surrounding forests are equally beautiful. The racecourse here was a bit ordinary, but the scenery along the way was worth the train ride. The cattle, horses, and sheep here are free-range, allowing us to see them grazing freely on the pastures.
Fairy Mountain National Forest Park is truly a beautiful place in autumn. The leaves are already turning yellow, and the mountains are ablaze with vibrant colors. The sky is clear, and the golden autumn sunlight makes the colors even more vibrant. The vibrant colors of the trees, the blue sky, the mountains, the meadows—the purest scene—makes it feel like being transported to New Zealand. Before setting off, I had no idea Fairy Mountain would be so beautiful in this season. Besides the vibrant colors, the forest park is also home to vast expanses of forest. The bright sunlight filtered through the trees, casting dappled shadows on the ground. As we drove along the forest path, the gentle breeze whipped up leaves piled on the roadside. The leaves flew into the air, dancing in the breeze. The hallmarks of late autumn were clearly visible here. The vast expanses of colorful trees, set against the blue sky, looked even more beautiful. Escape the stress of work and the hustle and bustle of the city to this pure place, free from the polluted air. Coming here is truly a wonderful experience. Before arriving here, I hadn't imagined such vast alpine meadows existed here. It seemed a stark contrast to my image of the rugged, rugged West. The green grass carried a uniquely fragrant aroma of earth. Such vast meadows would be perfect for camping. In winter, if it snowed, this place would likely become a ski resort. As the sun gradually set, the shadows of the mountains and trees grew longer and longer. As it gradually set, the sun's color gradually transformed into a brilliant golden hue, painting the entire landscape a golden hue. I stumbled upon a small pond, which, in the absence of wind, was like a mirror. Lying on the grass beside it, I watched the wisps of white clouds dancing in the breeze, closed my eyes, and let the golden sunlight bathe my face. Basking in this rare autumn sun, my breath was filled with the fragrance of green grass. In the sunlight, the tender green grass seemed to hint at a place brimming with life. Although the yellow leaves will eventually fall from the tree trunks in a few days, the vibrant green of the grass seems to indicate that winter will soon be over, and the entire mountain will be filled with vibrant green again. The large meadow on Fairy Mountain is a truly ideal place for camping. Imagine lying at the door of your tent under the stars, gazing up at the Milky Way, with the occasional shooting star streaking across the sky. It's as if the entire night sky is a giant blanket enveloping us. However, be aware that the mountain is very humid, and the meadow is wet at night. If you plan to camp, be sure to take precautions against moisture.
It's a perfect place for a leisurely stroll. If I lived in Chongqing, I'd spend a whole weekend here. It feels like a paradise. It's a welcome relief for eyes weary of skyscrapers and lungs choked by smog.
Fairy Mountain National Forest Park, boasting breathtaking scenery encompassing forests, grasslands, stunning peaks, and snowfields, is known as the "Little Switzerland of the East." With 330,000 mu of forest and hundreds of thousands of mu of natural lawn, it serves as a natural oxygen bar. As a 5A-rated scenic spot, its supporting facilities are up to standard, including four- and five-star hotels, various villa complexes, and charming wooden cabins. The park also offers a variety of recreational activities, including horseback riding, skiing, grass skiing, car racing, paintballing, paragliding, barbecues, and outdoor activities. It is a popular destination for Chongqing locals seeking a relaxing getaway, a place to escape the summer heat, and skiing in the winter.
If you want to see the grassland in Chongqing, go here. Hahaha, it's cool and has good scenery. It's suitable for taking pictures and a family outing.
It is suitable for locals to visit on weekends, and foreign friends can appreciate the different geological features.
Chongqing Fairy Mountain National Forest Park is located on the north bank of the Wujiang River in Wulong County, Chongqing City. It belongs to the Wuling Mountain Range, covers an area of 5,070 hectares, with an average altitude of 1,850 meters and a maximum altitude of 2,033 meters. The park has tourist resources such as grasslands, forests, wetlands, and lakes. It is the largest alpine grassland around Chongqing.
Chongqing Fairy Mountain National Forest Park is named for a peak resembling a dancing fairy. Together with the Thousand Mile Wujiang River Gallery, the magical Furong Cave, the beautiful Furong River, and the world's largest natural bridge complex, it has become a popular tourist destination in Chongqing. It is a National AAAAA-level tourist attraction and one of China's "Most Influential Forest Parks."
What's commonly referred to as "Fairy Mountain" is more accurately called "Fairy Mountain National Forest Park." The forest park is a vast area, reaching an altitude of 2,000 meters. With its cool summers, it's known as the "Summer Palace of the Mountain City." The map I took on-site shows the main locations. To get there from Fairy Mountain Town, follow the direction in the lower left corner of the map. Purchase your ticket at the park entrance and follow the thick green line to the parking lot at the "Sightseeing Train Station." The journey is 30 kilometers, about an hour. From there, take the train to the "Grassland" and then back again (the train route is the yellow loop). You can also hike from the train station to the "Grassland" along the dotted red line. Due to the sheer volume of traffic, we had to stop and start along the way until we finally reached the Sightseeing Train Station, leaving us with no choice but to park there. Although the parking lot is large, it's still very limited! Get off the train at the "Grassland" station. The grassland is the core area of the Fairy Mountain Scenic Area. Bring a mat and play on the grass—it's fun! It's a great place to relax and unwind, highly recommended!
Fairy Mountain has beautiful scenery. If you have enough time, you can stay there for a day, set up a tent, eat, play, and walk around. It is the most pleasant!
With the vast green alpine grasslands and herds of cattle and sheep strolling freely on the road, it is no wonder that it enjoys the reputation of "Switzerland of the East".
Compared with other scenic spots in Wulong, I prefer Fairy Mountain. There are some entertainment facilities on the mountain, but my favorite is the grassland. There are 🐑咩咩, 🐎儿 on the grassland. The staff of the scenic spot scan the code to distribute kites. It is really comfortable when the weather is good. I want to relax and relax on vacation. I don’t like to follow too many people to visit the scenic area.
The air is fresh, the grass is green, and you can get close to small animals.
The scenery is nice, but the grassland is actually a bit small. Suitable for taking photos.
Visited in April 2015. Apart from a large lawn, the rest...
Fairy Mountain is a rare alpine grassland scenery in the south. It is the highest place in the Wulong Scenic Area, so it is also the lowest and coldest place. Be sure to keep warm.
However, the unfortunate thing was that although it did not rain, there was heavy fog in Fairy Mountain and visibility was very low.
The Fairy Mountain Grassland is vast, and I can imagine how beautiful it must be on a sunny day. There are sheep and horses roaming freely. After just ten minutes of strolling, my shoes were soaked, and the grass was covered in mist.
Tips: If you're traveling independently, it's recommended to arrive in Wulong at noon to visit Fairy Mountain. You'll have half a day to wander the prairie. Be sure to bring rain boots, not mesh sneakers.
Chongqing is often foggy and overcast year-round, so the grasslands don't appear as boundless and lush as they would against a backdrop of blue skies and white clouds. However, riding an electric car through the mountains and meadows, watching the horses trotting by the roadside, still offers a wonderful feeling of seeing cattle and sheep in the wind-blown grass.
Fairy Mountain National Forest Park is known as the Eastern Switzerland. I saw photos posted by others online, with blue sky and white clouds or snow-capped mountains, but it was a foggy day that day, so I could only enjoy the foggy scenery. I was looking forward to the horseback riding, grass skiing, and go-karting here, but unfortunately they were all closed because of the rain.
You can enjoy the scenery along the way by taking a small train. The scenery on a sunny day should be invincible. There are pigeons, horses, sheep, etc. on the prairie. Fried potatoes are very common in the scenic area. They are mixed with peppers and taste quite good. Grilled corn is more recommended.
There's a small train that takes you to the grasslands after entering the scenic area, but we opted to walk in instead. This allowed us to encounter the deserted, "wild" grasslands. It felt like Switzerland 🇨🇭. The sun was shining, a stark contrast to the windy and rainy days of the previous two days. It was as beautiful as an oil painting. The grasslands are truly a place of tranquility and joy. The few groups of people on the grasslands were a stark contrast to the crowds of the previous few days. Many children were blowing bubbles on the grasslands.
Clouds are fog, and fog is also clouds. The biggest feature of Fairy Mountain is the clouds and mist. The alpine grassland is boundless, and horses are grazing on it. We feel embarrassed to disturb them and can only watch quietly from a distance.
Chongqing Fairy Mountain National Forest Park, natural grassland, a unique park.
The viewing platform is only a few dozen square meters, not big. The scenery is unique. I like this kind of deep mountain canyon, accompanied by some thriller, suspense and reasoning themes. No wonder many movies choose to shoot here.
The prairie and the horse racing track are the more fun places. There is a small train to ride throughout the whole journey, so you don’t feel tired. In the summer, there are barbecues, camping, beer festivals, and many other things to do. In the winter, you can see the snow scenery. It is indeed a great place for vacation and leisure!
The service attitude is too bad and it is not fun. The staff are of low quality.
The most important attraction at Fairy Mountain is the vast grassland. It's truly vast and I really wanted to ride a horse. Every man dreams of conquering the world on horseback. The sight is a vast expanse of grassland. There are also adorable and docile sheep of various breeds, as well as the "Forest Love" and a dragon throne made of straw.
It took about an hour to get to the racecourse by train. There's a fenced-in racecourse there, but I've ridden horses before and didn't go. It's a small, fenced-in area, so it wasn't very interesting. There's also an archery range, lawn scooters, and, of course, shopping.
It was really beautiful and vast, and I could hear the horses neighing. Remember to sit by the window on the train so you can video chat along the way.
The scenery is worth seeing. If the weather is clear, the blue sky and white clouds will be a plus. Unfortunately, it was cloudy when we went there, and it even rained sporadically, so it looked a bit gray and unhappy.
Fairy Mountain covers a large area. If you want to explore it quickly, you can take a sightseeing train for 100 yuan per person.
The scenery along the walking path is something you can't see from the train. It's filled with vibrant greenery, making it a perfect spot for wedding photos.

There are several gates to the forest park. The nearest south gate is 17km away. We chose to go to the back gate, which is 28km away. It takes more than an hour, which is better than being stuck in traffic. There was a traffic jam a while after passing the Shuanghe gas station on Provincial Highway 203. Many cars were not aware of it and drove in the wrong direction and cut in. Fortunately, there were traffic police to guide us. We split the road at 035 Township Road and got stuck again at the back gate of Fairy Mountain. It turned out that there was a music festival at Fairy Mountain tonight, and one-way circulation control was implemented at the back gate. Tickets were purchased here to enter. This section of the road is a gravel road. We followed the car in front and moved forward slowly. Finally, we saw a lawn and the road was better, but there were many people and cars. Due to time constraints, we went directly to the prairie, parked the car in the parking lot, and spent 25 yuan per person to buy a locomotive sightseeing bus around the prairie. The Fairy Mountain prairie is quite beautiful. We chose to come after five in the afternoon because the prairie is more beautiful in the setting sun.
It is the largest grassland currently developed in Fairy Mountain and is known as the "No. 1 Pasture in the South".
The scenery is beautiful, and the air is incredibly fresh. The scenic area is vast, requiring a sightseeing train ride. The main attraction is the grasslands. Herds of cattle and sheep create a Mongolian feel. Many Chongqing residents visit with their families, hammocks, kites, and camping gear, apparently intending to stay overnight. I've heard the starry sky at Fairy Mountain is particularly stunning at night.
It is just a vast grassland. Of course, if you have been to Inner Mongolia or Xinjiang, you will not be impressed by this place. You need to buy tickets for various recreational activities in the scenic area, such as motorcycles, horseback riding, archery, etc. The cost of playing is more expensive than the cenotes.
The grasslands in the mountains and the flat land on the top of the mountain are quite beautiful. The main activities are horseback riding, golf, and kite flying.
It’s so refreshing to see the temperature in Chongqing city drop from 40 degrees to around 25 degrees!
Reaching Fairy Mountain, I discovered a truly unique experience. The first thing I noticed was the sudden drop in temperature, reaching only 18 degrees Celsius in the evening. Even more breathtaking was the drive up to the summit, where the alpine meadows offered breathtaking scenery. I occasionally encountered grazing horses along the way, and it felt as if I had been transported to Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia. The journey was filled with surprises! The unique topography of the alpine meadows creates the unique scenery of Fairy Mountain, reminiscent of Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and even Switzerland. The scenery along the grassland train was idyllic. Pedestrians were few and far between, mostly flocks of sheep, horses, and cattle leisurely strolling and grazing. If time could stand still, this is what a peaceful and tranquil life would look like! As the sun shone in the evening, I tried to capture the slanting rays from a distance, but instead, I captured a father and daughter, shrouded in a halo of slanting sunlight. They were angelic in their beauty. Love is like sunshine, and the afterglow of sunset is so soft and warm. The vast grasslands are like a broad, tolerant heart. Fairy Mountain offers picturesque scenery, and any photo you take is a true masterpiece. The temperature, around 20 degrees Celsius, is cool and comfortable, but UV rays are still strong, so wear ample sunscreen. If you can manage, it's best to take the Grassland Train in the afternoon. For the best views, get off at the horse riding track and walk back. Horseback riding is available at the track, but the horses aren't particularly handsome and the ride isn't particularly comfortable. However, the price is reasonable. The afternoon sun shines through, creating a blue sky and lush green grass, creating stunning photo opportunities. Crowds are also rare, making it a great spot for both photography and hiking. The direct sunlight in the morning and midday makes hiking too intense, so it's best to visit in the afternoon.
Wulong Fairy Mountain is truly beautiful. Although the temperature was high that day, the clouds in the sky were stunningly beautiful. It truly deserves to be called the Little Switzerland of the East, and the animals were delighted too.
It's quite far from the city; the round-trip car ride took six hours, with only two hours spent exploring. However, if you haven't seen the prairie before, it's still worth a visit. You can camp there. The temperature is lower than in the city, and the cool breeze is quite comfortable. And there are horses, cattle, sheep, and their feces everywhere. 😅
It's raining, it's a different prairie, the Fairy Mountain in the rain
The sky is clear and the grass and sky are connected. Come and take pictures, dears.
The weather in the mountains is very changeable. Sometimes it rains, sometimes it rains. The grassland is relatively small, and the air is very fresh. It is a good place to relax. The sheep, cows, and horses there are not afraid of people, so you can get close to them. There is also a pigeon house where you can feed the pigeons.
It is not recommended to come here by bus alone. If you are a foreign tourist who wants to play, it is recommended to join a tour group.
This kind of forest-grassland scenery is unique in Chongqing. The scenic area is very cool, completely away from the humidity and heat of Chongqing city. The ticket price is only 60, which is very cost-effective.
It's like the name suggests, a truly fairy-like prairie! I love this place, but we took a tour bus from downtown Chongqing that we found on Ctrip. The journey took about eight hours, which was a bit long. But the view was worth it! The temperature in the mountains is about 15 degrees cooler than in the city, so be sure to dress warmly.
It was foggy when I visited Fairy Mountain, adding a touch of mystery to the mountain, like a shy girl dancing with her skirt. I chose a hotel on the top of a mountain. When I woke up in the morning, I heard birdsong and the air was incredibly fresh. If you visit Fairy Mountain, you absolutely have to stay overnight to truly experience it. A morning walk on the prairie opened my mind to a new world of peace and tranquility.
It should be noted here that Fairy Mountain, Wulong Tiankeng, Longshuixia Ground Fissure and other scenic spots are located in different directions around the visitor center, as shown in the figure below. Therefore, friends who decide to watch Wulong Impression that night are not recommended to stay at Fairy Mountain. It is at least 40 minutes' drive from the mountain to the theater, which is a bit tiring to go back and forth. But if you have plenty of time, it is another matter, because the prairie is really beautiful and capricious.
Perhaps because it had just rained in the morning, Fairy Mountain was shrouded in mist in the afternoon, like a dream. It was like a sentimental fairy covering her graceful figure with a veil, but the more she covered up, the more obvious it was. When the wind blew, the mist swayed with the wind, making her look graceful and charming, with a unique charm.
About a hundred meters along the exit of Huabang Hotel, there will be a small door separated by barbed wire on the left. Pass through the small door and you will enter the prairie. This is simply a cheat. It feels so good to take a shortcut. There is no need to take a train to get to the main gate.
Because of the fog, there were not many tourists on the grassland. I stepped on the crystal dewdrops on the grass, which were wet and astringent, and slid down gracefully one by one. I walked aimlessly, the sky was high and the land was vast, and my mood suddenly became brighter.
It seemed like the Kite Festival had just passed. A grassy slope was filled with all kinds of kites. In the misty fog, butterflies with their wings folded were about to fly... Cows and sheep were either eating grass or lazily lying on the grass to rest. There was also a shiny black calf, which tilted its head back and greedily sucked its mother's milk. It was so focused that it was not affected by the tourists around it. The mother cow calmly took photos with the tourists. People and nature lived in harmony, peaceful and beautiful. Only the cowbells would ring once or twice, and the picture suddenly became lively.
There were grasslands to the east, south, west and north, stretching as far as the eye could see. After a while, a thick fog rose, and we walked farther and farther away. It was as if we were in a dream, making us linger.
Fairy Mountain is part of the Wulong Scenic Area. It snows in winter and is a popular summer retreat for Chongqing residents. My tour guide explained that before the 2003 development of the Tiankeng and Difeng (sinkholes and fissures) in Wulong, the primary impression of Fairy Mountain was that it was the largest grassland in southern China. Our visit coincided with the scenic area's Windmill Festival. I think it's a great place for a family picnic.
The weather was bad when we arrived at Fairy Mountain, with drizzle and fog. It seemed that there were not many attractions, just a large grassland and a horse farm. It is usually a place where Chongqing citizens come to escape the heat in the summer. It is quite big inside. It takes 40 minutes for the small train to go around a circle, and it costs 25 yuan per person. We walked for a while but it was too cold so we gave up. The altitude here is about one or two thousand meters, at least 7 or 8 degrees lower than Chongqing.
The beautiful alpine grassland is very vast. Walking on the grassland with friends, the green scenery makes you feel relaxed and comfortable.
Fairy Mountain is known as the Little Switzerland of the East. It is a large resort area where you can spend three or four days.
The scenic area is very clean and basically there are trees. It is relatively primitive and gives people a very pure feeling.
We mainly went to the prairie inside
The grassland is not endless, but it is very large. Many people fly kites there. It's a pity that you can't ski on the grass.
The weather was particularly good that day. The sun was pouring down, just the right amount, neither too hot nor too cold. The sky was cloudless and surprisingly blue. There were colorful kites flying high in the sky.
Just like the sea, like the mountains and forests, things that stretch as far as the eye can see always give people a sense of spaciousness. Forget about past troubles and just want to lie down comfortably and have a good sleep.
(Renting a tent here for the night is 100 per night. I really regret booking a room at the foot of the mountain.)
It was really comfortable in the mountains. Unfortunately, the sun set so quickly that it was dark in a short while. The mountain forest was particularly cool in the evening, and the breeze reminded me of those autumn evenings when I ate dinner at the school gate in the cold wind.
There is a bus on the mountain that can go directly back to the tourist distribution center
At 2,000 meters above sea level, the temperature dropped by at least 5 degrees Celsius, so it's worth bringing a thick jacket! Of course, this is also a great place to escape the summer heat—it's beautiful and cool!
We took a small train to travel, which saved us a lot of energy! There was actually a large grassland deep in the mountains. Although this grassland was different from the Hulunbuir we had visited before, I still couldn't control my enthusiasm and jumped high.
My colleagues said that this place still has a little Swiss style. I strongly recommend bringing your kids to roll on the grass.
However, the innermost attractions of Lover's Valley and the Grand Canyon are a bit of a rip-off. Access is limited to horse-drawn carriages, or bus 11. We didn't have time, so we took bus 11 on foot. We originally thought we could enter on horseback for 60 yuan round trip, but Lao Song strongly disagreed. After returning, we learned that our group's horseback riders had been tricked into entering Lover's Valley and the Grand Canyon, demanding ever-increasing amounts of money. So, we decided to spend more time exploring the grasslands.
After reading the introduction to Fairy Mountain, we knew our next destination, Fairy Mountain Park, would be ours. However, that wasn't until the next day. We set off for Fairy Mountain early in the morning, a little after 8:00 AM. Due to the snow, the temperature felt like -10 degrees Celsius. As we left Fairy Mountain Town and began our ascent, the snow-covered landscape was breathtaking. When we reached the prairie, we were stunned: it had transformed into a natural ski resort. Most tourists rented skis, climbed to the top, and slid down the slopes to fully enjoy the snow. We'd thought we'd come south for warmth, but we'd ended up in a much colder place.
The train in Fairy Mountain Forest Park has a distance of 10 kilometers. I personally recommend spending 25 yuan for a more comfortable ride. You can get off and play at the intermediate stations and then get on the train again, so you must keep the tickets. The racecourse is not worth going to. You can spend more time on the prairie. There are sheep, horses, and pigeons on the prairie. It is okay to take some photos.
This lawn was the only thing that was amazing. It took over half an hour to get to Fairy Mountain from the visitor center. It was cloudy and cold, so I rented a down jacket at the drop-off point. It was pretty good... I thought it was a great place for photos. Then we took a small train to the next horseback riding and archery area. Coming from Inner Mongolia, I didn't experience any of these activities and just headed straight back down the mountain. Maybe the best time to come here is the next day, when the temperature is lower up there, perfect for a summer getaway. Overall, it was pretty good. I loved it.
Since we were short on time, we only planned to experience the train, which costs 25 yuan per person. It stops at several stations along the way, where you can get off to enjoy the scenery and then take the next train to continue your journey.
This mountain must exist in heaven, and fairies from heaven must have come down to earth.
I went there with some classmates in mid-December last year. It was still a bit cold when we arrived, but it happened to snow, so the scenery was quite nice. I'm from the south, so I was quite happy to see the snow, though it wasn't very thick. The air conditioning at the hotel seemed to be broken, but the owner said it was fine. I recommend checking before you stay. Oh, and a word of warning, if it's snowing, don't buy raincoats! All five of us bought them! We didn't wear them! We also bought waterproof boots. One of my female classmates put them on, but when we got there, we realized they were too inconvenient to walk in, so we didn't wear them anymore. (Sneakers are recommended.) We went on a budget trip, so we didn't ski or anything like that, but we did save a lot on food.
I originally wanted to go up there to fly a drone, but it was so foggy that I couldn't see anything. It was pitch black. There was no one in sight for miles. What a waste of money! The entrance fee was completely wasted, especially because there was nothing to see except the fog.
There are too many artificial things. The original green feeling all over the mountain is good, but they have to add some big logos and artificial scenery everywhere, which greatly reduces the quality.
It was off-season when we went there, and it was still drizzling and quite cold. The prairie was basically a dry yellow color, which was quite disappointing. There was a barbecue at the horse farm, as well as shooting and horseback riding (it was said to be a bit of a rip-off, so we tried it together). The barbecue at the horse farm tasted pretty good.
It was foggy when we went there, and we were not far from the Tiansheng Difeng Difeng. However, as a 5A scenic spot, it is a bit unworthy of its name.
The mountains are covered with fog. I am walking from afar, feeling lonely and dreamy. If there is an afterlife, I would like to be a particle in the fog, waiting for a vague figure in the distance to come in and give me support.
I went there in mid-November and only saw three or five tourists. The weather was very cold and the hotels on the mountain did not have air conditioning. When checking in, you must ask whether there is floor heating!
Detailed guide available for viewing!
It's really fairy-like when you go there in winter... I rented a car and drove from Chongqing to Fairy Mountain. It happened to be a rainy day, and the visibility on the mountain road was one meter... Fortunately, there were few cars and people, and it had a unique Silent Hill flavor~~ Because it was not the peak season and it was winter, there were relatively few projects and service personnel~~
Can't see anything, not very nice, skiing on artificial snow
Don't go to Wulong in the winter! Especially on rainy days! The mountains are covered in fog! Driving there feels dangerous! Fortunately, the sun came out the next day! There was no fog on the top of the mountain! The sky was incredibly blue!
If you're in Wulong, I highly recommend staying overnight. Spend one day at Fairy Mountain and the other at the Tiankeng and Difeng. The winter snowy scenery at Fairy Mountain is breathtaking! It's like a fairytale! It's worth traveling all the way from the capital to see the snow in the foggy city!
In winter, Fairy Mountain is covered in snow, and the scenery is beyond your expectation. You can also ski. The only drawback is that there is not much snow on the ground, so you can't make snowmen⛄, you can only take pictures. There is only one attraction in the mountain - a snow-covered grassland. You can take a small train to the mountain. Here are a few photos 👇
Ticket price: 60 yuan
Sightseeing train: 25 yuan/person
The train departs every 20 minutes and stops when it is full. It passes through the grassland and the horse riding field, and finally arrives at the wooden ladder station.
Actually, I was misled by the guide map and thought the wooden ladder was the third scenic spot. After rushing there, I found that the wooden ladder was the exit...
If you have enough time, you don't have to take the train. There are wooden plank roads along the way, which is about 10 kilometers in total. If you have enough time and energy, you can also consider walking. It's good to breathe in the fresh mountain air.
Tickets for Fairy Mountain cannot be purchased at the Fairy Mountain Town Visitor Center; you must go to the Fairy Mountain Visitor Center. The Fairy Mountain Scenic Area has no operating hours, but if you follow a local driver, you can enter and exit at any time. This time, we chartered a car from Fairy Mountain Town to Fairy Mountain, and a local driver drove us in. We didn't buy tickets at the gate; we gave the guide the entrance fee. They said they primarily make money from the few dozen yuan ticket fees.
Charter price details:
Fairy Mountain Town - Fairy Mountain: 10 yuan/person (we were 4 people in one car, so if there are fewer people, we will probably have to negotiate a different price)
Fairy Mountain-Wulong Railway Station: 30 yuan/person
You need to reserve at least 1 hour to charter a car from Fairy Mountain to Wulong Railway Station. If you take the Fairy Mountain Scenic Area bus directly to Wulong County, you need to reserve at least 1.5 hours. The entire road is mountainous, and although it is only forty or fifty kilometers, it is rugged and difficult to travel.
I inquired and found out that the bus from the Fairy Mountain Scenic Area exit to the Wulong County Bus Station costs 18 yuan per person. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the bus station to the train station. Please calculate your itinerary and reserve time accordingly.
The tourist center and the train ticket office have business hours, and tickets are only sold after 9 a.m. We arrived at the train station at 8:55 and became the first tourists of the day.
The alpine grasslands of Fairy Mountain aren't particularly green in winter. At around 2,000 meters above sea level, the temperature is relatively low, and there are very few people. This is recommended for those who want to experience the spaciousness and tranquility of the southern alpine meadows, but not for those who simply want to take selfies in winter. Due to the low temperature and high humidity, some areas of the grasslands are frosted, making them very hard to walk on. Strong winds make it even colder. You'll definitely find a lot of grimace in your photos.
We were incredibly lucky to have a rare, clear, sunny day with a gentle breeze. Although we were shivering with cold when we boarded the train at 9 a.m., the sun came out and a short walk on the grasslands made us feel much better. Especially when we reached the plank path leading back from the horse-riding field, the bright sunshine, the vast grassland, the deserted plank path, and the horses grazing leisurely, it felt like we were alone with nature. The feeling of relief is indescribable. This kind of untouched, refreshing experience is something you can't expect during peak season.
Fairy Mountain, with an average elevation of 1,900 meters, boasts 330,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) of forest and 100,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) of natural grassland. With its tranquil and beautiful jungle and verdant landscapes, cool summers and snow-capped winters, it's known as the "First Pastureland of the South" and the "Switzerland of the East." Despite the bright sunshine, the temperature is significantly lower than in town! There are also karst landforms such as the Stone Forest to explore.
The sightseeing train (a sightseeing bus that looks like a train) is 10 kilometers long and circles the prairie. It costs 25 yuan per person and has 4 stops. You can get on and off at the stops along the way.
In order to take care of the old lady, we decided to walk along the trail from the train station to the prairie (2 kilometers) first. After playing, we would take the small train around the prairie and return to the starting train station. This way we could slowly see the scenery and not be too tired.
On the afternoon of June 16, 2016, I went to Fairy Mountain. It was a beautiful grassland. Although it was the hottest time of June, there was no heat at all. After all, it was more than 2,000 meters above sea level. It was a good holiday destination.
A good place to escape the heat. It's cool in the summer but can be very cold in the winter, so hurry down the mountain after escaping the heat to avoid the cold in autumn.
If you're visiting Fairy Mountain, we recommend hiring a car. Our driver accompanied us throughout the entire trip. Fairy Mountain is at a high altitude, so the temperature is quite low, and it's quite cold. There were signs of snow, so we recommend dressing warmly. There's a large grassland there, where we had a blast posing and taking photos. There are also some other recreational activities at Fairy Mountain. We went horseback riding, led by locals. Along the way, they kept urging us to spend money—to go for a ride on the racecourse, but we politely declined. I imagine they were offering a reward for going. When they heard we didn't want to go, they became discouraged. At first, they were chatting and laughing with us, but then they fell silent. As for horseback riding, I don't think it's necessary. First, it's expensive, and second, you can ride it anywhere, so it doesn't have much to offer. However, if you're curious, it's definitely worth a try.
This is a big pit, with thick fog and nothing to see except a few sheep and horses.
The so-called "prairie" is just a slightly larger piece of grass on the top of the mountain, and it is surrounded by wire fences. If you want to go directly to other attractions, you can't do it unless you take the "small train" in the scenic area. You can go there to take a look if you have nothing to do. The entire Fairy Mountain is quite large and should be part of the Wuling Mountains.
In 2008, I bought a 56-square-meter summer vacation home in Xiannvshan Town, Wulong. Even on the hottest days of the year, the room temperature never exceeds 25 degrees Celsius! At 1,200 meters above sea level, the air quality is unparalleled. Every year during public holidays, my family and I head up the mountain to escape the insane heat in Chongqing's main city! We also enjoy the pleasant climate on weekends. I'm retiring this year, and next year's hot weather will mark the beginning of my most delightful summer escape...
Really beautiful little animals are so cute~💚
It's a pity that we came on a foggy day and didn't see the whole ranch.
But the fog is also a special kind of hazy beauty ^ ^ Haha, I almost feel like a fairy 🤣
"You absolutely must bring warm clothes! It's super cold, and if you want to see the entire ranch, you must check the weather forecast in advance ☁️~"
