Yangtze River Cableway

Chongqing's second cross-river cableway is known as the "first aerial corridor across the Yangtze River" and the "mountain city's aerial bus."
The glass around the car is fully transparent, so you can see the natural scenery on both sides during the day. It is particularly spectacular when the lights are bright at night.
·It is the filming location for many film and television works such as "Crazy Stone" and "A Bite of China".

This is a must-do in Chongqing. Apparently, it's so cheap for locals, it's become a must-do for tourists. The line wasn't as long as you'd expect. There's a tent overhead, and they spray mist to keep everyone cool. Chongqing is incredibly hot. The bus can accommodate many people, and the river view is stunning. I don't know why some of the photos I uploaded are flipped.

To avoid the heavy traffic in Yuzhong District, I recommend the Longmen Road Cable Car Station. Take the subway to Shangxin Street, then walk for about ten minutes. You must bring your original ID card for ticket registration. A one-way ticket costs 20 yuan per person. It's said that before the Chongqing subway opened, the Yangtze River Cable Car fare was 2 yuan per person. The price has increased so much now, but after all, it's a tourist attraction now.

When it comes to grabbing a seat, we'll never be able to compete with the elderly. Each elevator can hold 50 people. I just took a quick ride, and it took three minutes, which wasn't a big deal. I recommend taking the Xinlu (South Station) train; you can get on without waiting after buying a ticket. Xinhua Road (North Station) is incredibly crowded, and the wait is excruciating. A one-way ticket is 20 yuan, so I recommend buying a round-trip ticket for 30 yuan, which is 10 yuan more expensive.

Yangtze River Cableway

We only bought a one-way ticket, round trip would be cheaper.

You can also choose to buy it together with the sightseeing bus ticket, but if there are many people, it is cheaper to take a taxi, as the sightseeing bus does not go to some places.

You need your ID card to purchase the Yangtze River Cableway, so be sure to bring your ID card with you.

The Yangtze River Cableway is like a small bus compartment with handrails, but the distance is very short and the speed is not fast. It is a very different experience.

Unlike traditional ticket-buying and queuing systems, the Yangtze River Cableway's queues are structured in intervals. Only when your number falls within this interval can you enter the gate queue. This means that if your number doesn't fall within the interval, you can wander around freely. The interval is 300. This significantly reduces the likelihood of unexpected queueing incidents.

The best viewing spot for the cable car is of course right in front, but unfortunately we didn’t get a turn. Looking at the people in front of us…

The entire cable car journey is very short, and the total time is about 3.5 minutes (because I took a short video hahahaha) ~

You can enjoy the river view during the day, and it will be even more beautiful with the night view at night!

It's very close to Jiefangbei on Bayi Road where I live, so I walked there in about 15 minutes. The cable car has two stations: Xinhua Road Station and Shangxin Street Station. Most tourists stay on Xinhua Road, taking Metro Lines 1 and 6 to Xiaoshizi Station, so this station is often crowded. That's where I started my journey today. Around 7:30 a.m. on a weekday, the Yangtze River Cable Car was no longer bustling. Perhaps to Chongqing locals, it was just another common way to commute across the river. But for a first-time visitor to this mountain city, like me, it was a complete novelty.

A one-way trip costs 20 yuan (18 yuan with a Chongqing Transportation Card, one card per person), and a round-trip trip costs 30 yuan. Weekday commuting times cost 1.8 yuan per trip with a Chongqing Transportation Card (starting September 1, 2017, only passengers who have completed identity verification can use the 1.8 yuan card during commuting times). After nearly 30 years of ups and downs, the cable car still operates just as it did before, though the crowds are no longer the hurried locals of the past. Instead, they're more tourists, backpacks and cameras slung over their shoulders. Chongqing is truly a foggy city, with a gray sky that makes it difficult to take good photos. It's said that the scenery along the cable car is beautiful at night, so be sure to experience it if you have the chance.

We were lucky enough to be in the front row. There were no windows. The Yangtze River breeze was refreshing. We chose to zipline from the South Bank area to the north, and our accommodation was right where we got off, making it convenient for finding food. The line took about 30 minutes, and the night view was even more crowded. The large box can hold 50 people and is much more stable than the cable cars in other scenic areas. We could see both the river and the street. Perfect. The entire ride took 4 minutes.

In this mountain city surrounded by rivers, the Yangtze River Cableway was once a major means of transport across the river, though it now serves more as a tourist attraction. Our journey today begins on the Yangtze River Cableway. Since the South Bank area is relatively less visited, we recommend taking the cableway from there to Yuzhong District, saving time. The South Bank cableway departs near Shangxinjie Metro Station, making it very convenient. We found the cableway entrance, bought our tickets, and went upstairs. A long line was already forming in the lobby, waiting to board. Staff maintained order, allowing passengers in and out, and the process was relatively orderly. Despite its small size, the cable car can accommodate dozens of people per trip. We waited for a bus, and it took about ten minutes for our turn to arrive. The view from the window is naturally the best, but the crowds were so overwhelming that we didn't have a good seat. The cable car ride takes about four minutes, and once on board, we realized how fast it moves. Beneath the vast expanse of the Yangtze River, the majestic Dongshuimen Bridge towers over us. The short trip was truly captivating.

By Pretty Candice |

We happened to be on the Nanshan side, so we took a taxi directly to the entrance of the South Bank. There were fewer people here, so we recommended taking this route. The one-way cable car cost ¥20/person. The other side was Jiefangbei, and we could just walk to Hongyadong to see the night view of Hongyadong. It was perfect~

In the packed cable car, it's best to grab a window seat as you ascend for easy photo opportunities. The most dramatic moment is when the cable car passes over the old buildings on the shore. Once it's completely dark, the buildings and riverside scenery become difficult to see clearly. Therefore, the best time to go is in the evening, when it's still light enough to clearly see the streets and buildings, and the lights are even more striking.

We departed from North Station. I'd read numerous travel guides suggesting South Station was less crowded and recommended taking the bus there. However, a map showed that Jiefangbei, where we were, was closer to North Station, while South Station was across the river. It was impossible to get there.

Now you can purchase through a public account. There is a display board at the import section. You can scan it, follow it, and fill in the information.

The strange thing is that there are many people waiting in line to buy tickets at the self-service machine. Isn't it faster to scan it? So after I scanned and bought the ticket, I walked through the queue with confidence. Hahahaha. Round trip ticket 30 yuan

By mvm |

A one-way ticket costs 20 yuan, and a round-trip ticket costs 30 yuan. You can only buy a one-way ticket during weekends. After exiting the station for a one-way trip, take Line 6 to Xiaoshizi subway station for the return trip, exit at Jiaochangkou station, and you will be near Jiefangbei.

We waited in line on Xinhua Road for an hour before we could buy tickets. (I recommend taking the subway across the river first, then taking the Yangtze River Cableway from the opposite side to avoid the crowds.)

The cable car is very stable and it takes about 5 minutes to reach the other side of the river.

By ME_TOO_nana |

We really underestimated the popularity of the cable car. We arrived around 5:00 am and there were over 4,000 self-service tickets. They sell an estimated 5,000 tickets per day, with a train every 6 minutes and 50 passengers per trip. We had originally planned to see the scenery during the day and at night, but ended up seeing the night view both ways. It took an hour after buying the ticket to get into the queue area and continue waiting. It took another 30 minutes to take the elevator upstairs. During peak season, it's possible to queue for two or three hours, and they even say it stretches out onto the street outside. This used to be a means of transportation for people commuting across the river, but now it's become a tourist experience. Become a mountain city dweller and ride an old cable car.

While waiting in line, you can learn about film and television works related to the Yangtze River Cableway. There will also be a theme promotional video played in a loop on the big screen, showing a little boy's lifelong love affair with the cableway until old age... As dusk falls, people in line are still coming in an endless stream. Fortunately, there is hope, and it is getting colder and colder~

The moment we stepped into the giant iron box, the wait was worth it. The train moved quickly and steadily across the Yangtze River. I don't know if it was for ventilation, but the lack of glass made the wind feel a bit chilly, but the photos were beautiful and glare-free. We were treated to breathtaking night views of both banks. We spotted the Dongshuimen Bridge, the twin of the famous Qiansimen Bridge, which is a bit further across the Jialing River. We immediately headed back to the other side, but the ticket machine wasn't working, so we queued directly, saving time—it took about 20 minutes. We were thrilled to get back to our destination. This was the most tourist-like attraction of the trip. We were freezing in the queue, and I regretted not bringing a scarf. My advice: avoid weekends when there are more people going and fewer returning.

By quesooo |

I can only say that the Yangtze River Cableway is not a place I would recommend. It's quite boring. We went to the Yangtze River Cableway on the Jiefangbei side, which is the most crowded side. There were so many people... It might take 2 or 3 hours to queue...

We took a taxi to the other side to take the cable car which was less crowded. We waited in line for less than an hour and got up, which was several times faster than the other side.

But the night view was just so-so. The carriage was packed with people, and even if I managed to get a window seat, none of the photos I took were good... because of the reflections from the glass in the carriage.

By Strawberry Summer |

The North Station of the cable car was packed, and the line took about an hour and a half. You can take the No. 6 Kuajiang cable car from Xiaoshizi Station to Shangxinjie Station, then walk about 10 minutes to the South Station, where you can basically skip the line. However, since we needed to go to Nanshan Yikeshu, we decided to queue up for the North Station cable car. You can get a number via WeChat (there's a QR code at the station; just scan it and enter your ID card), then wait in line to enter. After buying our tickets (20 yuan per one-way) via WeChat, we went to a nearby Yogurt Cow to buy some yogurt to help with our digestion. When we returned, we were almost ready to queue.

When your number segment is displayed on the screen, go in and scan the QR code to continue queuing. There are really a lot of people, but many people can enter at a time.

Friendly reminder to everyone that you must stand by the window when entering the cable car, otherwise you can only take pictures of other people's heads. The cable car may reach the other side in less than 3 minutes, so it's actually a bit of a scam~

After getting off the cable car, there is a viewing area where you can take a photo of the cable car as a souvenir, but that's all.

By Little Demon |

The Yangtze River Cableway has two stations. We arrived at the North Station, which is very close to Xiaoshizi Subway Station, but it might be more crowded than the South Station. Fortunately, it wasn't a weekend, so it wasn't too crowded. If you're visiting on a weekend, I recommend taking the South Station to the North Station.

When you enter the North Station, some people will say to you, "Do you want to skip the queue? There are too many people inside now, and you will have to queue for a long time..." We ignored them. We have experienced similar situations before, so we just walked straight in. It turned out that we didn't have to queue for long.

We chose to buy tickets using the QR code. A round trip ticket alone is 30 yuan, and there are also some packages of the Yangtze River Cableway + other attractions that are quite affordable. You can buy them as needed.

While you are waiting in line, the TV will also play introductory videos of the Yangtze River Cableway and other popular tourist attractions in a loop, you can take a look.

Then we could go inside and take the cable car. Have you seen the Chongqing episode of Go Fighting? They seem to ride from North Station to South Station and back, so it felt familiar the moment we got on. We initially thought we'd be afraid of heights, but the cable car was packed, and that fear of heights instantly faded. Window seats are very popular and sold out quickly. I found a relatively close window seat and took in the river and city views. As the returning car approached ours, everyone in both cars was snapping photos of each other on their phones, haha.

It takes about 20 minutes to walk from Jiefangbei to the Yangtze River Cableway.

While riding the cable car across the Yangtze River, two elderly people on board chatted with us and said, "You are tourists. We are locals and can ride the cable car for free with our senior citizen cards. You still have to pay a fee."

Many tourists feel that there is no need to take the Yangtze River Cableway as the waiting time is so long and the price is a bit expensive.

But aren't we in Chongqing to experience the old Chongqing lifestyle? Perhaps Chongqing residents don't often ride the cable car anymore, and those two elderly people might just be killing time. However, this way of crossing the river by cable car is probably unavailable anywhere else.

For me, the Yangtze River Cableway is an indispensable experience in my search for the impression of old Chongqing.

Back at the hostel, we saw the line for the Yangtze River Cable Car. I thought, "If we can't be on the same page, we have to sit opposite each other, or we'll regret it forever." The line was incredibly long, and I couldn't even see the end. It turned out the line had already reached the inner part of the residential complex. Now I think about it, we three were such idiots. It wasn't that we waited for hours just to ride the cable car for five minutes, but because we passed by the entrance every day and could tell if it was crowded. So why didn't we take it when it was less crowded? I rolled my eyes at myself... There was another, potentially quicker way. There were a lot of private car drivers in the line, offering to take us to the South Bank cable car. The line at the South Bank was shorter, so it was definitely smaller than here, but the price was ridiculous, so we decided to wait in line. The whole process of waiting was excruciating, excruciating, excruciating, excruciating. We stood in line from dawn to dusk. Time was meaningless to us, and the head of the line was our only salvation. In this way, the line stretched from the community to the subway entrance, from the subway entrance to the cable car gate, and finally from the cable car gate to the ticket office.

The cable car price isn't as affordable for us as it is for Chongqing residents. Who would dare to wait in line for the round trip? It's like waiting in line for hours for a four-minute tour. But once you board the cable car, soaring over the Yangtze River, squeezing into a window seat, enjoying the alluring river breeze and the captivating night view, and finally gazing back at the dazzling lights of Yuzhong District on the other side, you'll realize you didn't regret waiting in line at all. It's all worth it.

Four minutes went by so quickly. Thankfully, the beautiful journey didn't end with the arrival of the cable car. Its beauty can only be fully captured after disembarking. After exiting the station, you can lie on the platforms on either side to take photos. Don't linger too long, or you'll be chased away by security. Don't ask me how I know. You can also take some photos from downstairs without leaving the house, but the quality won't be as good as above. As expected, I saw quite a few people waiting in line for the cable car, but far fewer than on the other side. After exiting, I took the cable car on a whim and didn't know how to get back. After asking around, I found a very helpful young woman who gave very clear directions.

By I have the qualifications to be so arrogant |

The most unique way to cross the river is by scanning a QR code on WeChat to purchase tickets. The cable car crosses the river to Nan'an District. After exiting the cable car, you can take a taxi to the Nanshan Yikeshu Scenic Area for a panoramic view of the Chongqing river. Because it was foggy and drizzling that day, I decided to take the cable car for a round trip and skipped the Nanshan Yikeshu. It was hot and not crowded that day, so the round trip took about 30-40 minutes. Crowds might be higher on holidays.

I suggest that you must go to Nanshan Yikeshu Viewing Garden when the weather is good. I heard that it is the platform with the best view in the whole Chongqing, and the most beautiful night view in Chongqing is its night view!

By swenty |

Buy your ticket and follow the crowd inside. Ride the Yangtze River Cableway straight ahead and experience the magnificent scenery spanning the two rivers. The glass on all sides of the cabin allows you to see the natural scenery on both sides during the day. On weekdays, there are many people riding the cable car, chatting and laughing together, chatting with the old Chongqing accent. For a moment, you might even think you are one of them.

Perfect for enjoying the night view from the observation deck after crossing the river. Tickets can be purchased online, eliminating the need to queue on site. We purchased our tickets on site by scanning a QR code, eliminating the need to exchange them for paper tickets. We used the QR code we received on our phone to pass through the gate, which was very convenient. The line wasn't as long as we'd imagined; it took just over 30 minutes. The cable car ride took only a minute, reaching the other side of the river.

There are two cable cars in total, which depart from both sides at the same time. Each car can accommodate 50 people. If you want to see a good view, you have to squeeze to the head and tail, where there is a small window.

We'd read in travel guides that there was a different spot on the Yangtze River Cableway where we could board without waiting in line, so we decided to go there. However, since we weren't familiar with the area, we ended up going back to the more crowded side! It was incredibly crowded, and we waited in line for over an hour! There are several ways to buy tickets, but they all require queuing. In the internet age, everyone loves buying tickets online, forgetting that cash purchases can completely skip the line. Another option is to use a transportation card, get a number, and wait in line, then swipe the card when you get on the cable car. We were incredibly lucky; our family was first in line, giving us the best view. To avoid the line, take Line 6, which is a seven or eight-minute walk from the outside.

The Yangtze River Cableway is a must-try attraction in Chongqing. A one-way ticket costs 20, and a round-trip ticket is 30. I strongly recommend buying the one-way ticket, as the lines are so long. Just take one ride to get a feel for it. We waited in line for two hours. There were so many people... and people on both sides were taking photos of each other. When we got out of the cable car, I felt really bummed. Waiting two hours in line for five minutes to take photos is really absurd.

By Xiao Yingying's Leisure Travel |

The Yangtze River Cableway is another fragmentary memory of Chongqing. An old photo of it, stained with age, evokes a sense of time. I recommend exploring Yuzhong District during the day, then flying across the river to Nan'an District for a stroll. Returning at night, you'll enjoy the famous Chongqing nightscape from above – a refreshing, time-traveling experience.

As one of Chongqing's historical landmarks, it's a must-see for any visitor to the city. Of course, with such a popular attraction, there are bound to be long queues, typical of China. We recommend avoiding peak travel times. I won't tell you that the line stretched two blocks that day.

By Allen in the distance |

The Yangtze River Cableway is one of the most popular means of transportation in the mountain city, as it is indeed a special feature of Chongqing's aerial tour of the Yangtze River.

Fortunately, the Yangtze River Cableway has been preserved as a tourist transportation tool, but whether you can get a ride depends on luck. It is said that during the peak tourist season, it is normal to queue for 1-3 hours, but a one-way trip actually only takes 3-4 minutes.

By Red Sleeves and Purple Moon |

Next stop was the Yangtze River Cableway. This was once a popular means of transportation for Chongqing residents. When it was nearly demolished, it was used as a film location and has since become a Chongqing landmark. During peak tourist season, you often have to queue for hours to get a ride! This National Day holiday, online booking for the Yangtze River Cableway just launched, and you can book via WeChat. During peak season, you need to book four hours in advance. We made our reservation at 12:00 PM, and were given a queue number at 4:20 PM.

We arrived at the Yangtze River Cableway South Station at 4:00 AM. The separate line for online bookings was indeed much faster. The staff even taught everyone how to book online. Overall, booking tickets is incredibly convenient and time-saving! We waited in line for about 20 minutes before boarding the cable car, arriving near Jiefangbei on the other side of the river.

Actually, the cable car itself isn't very interesting. It's just a normal means of transportation, and it only takes 5 minutes. Maybe the real feeling is a sense of nostalgia! It's better to take pictures from below!

By Backpacker nic |

The old Chongqing residents who lived on both sides of the river probably never thought that this cableway would become so popular today. In the eyes of Chongqing people, it is not just a convenient means of transportation for people to go to get off work and cross the Yangtze River.

Many people choose to take the cable car to explore the area near Jiefangbei; it's truly convenient. The Yangtze River Cableway is a must-see location for film and television dramas shot in Chongqing. Whenever a domestic film or TV series features a cable car scene, audiences know it's Chongqing. Representative films include "Zhou Yu's Train," "Crazy Stone," and "Curiosity Kills the Cat." This demonstrates the popularity of the Chongqing Yangtze River Cableway. Those who have seen "Crazy Stone" will undoubtedly remember the opening scene where Mr. Xie Xiaomeng, standing in the cable car box, flirts with a beautiful woman. On the other side of the river, Chongqing's tallest buildings stand side by side, juxtaposed against the ancient guild halls (the largest cluster of guild halls in China). If you have friends visiting from afar, be sure to choose a clear day and buy round-trip tickets so you can experience together the dual worldliness and otherworldliness of Chongqing. The Yangtze River Cableway carries the memories of generations of Chongqing residents. Reportedly, plans are underway to restore the Jialing River cableway, giving Chongqing two cableway options. However, I suspect the old cableway will still be popular. After all, anything can be replicated. Only history and culture are accumulated, requiring time to savor and truly appreciate. If you're visiting Chongqing during peak season, consider starting at the Shangxinjie Cableway Station, where it's less crowded and offers a better chance of securing a good seat. If you have more time, consider visiting once during the day and again at night to enjoy the night view.

The Chongqing Yangtze River Cableway, a line that combines transportation and tourism, is a must-see when visiting Chongqing. The best time to visit is in the afternoon when the weather is clear and when the city lights come on at night.

By Take a break |

The Yangtze River Cableway used to be a means for locals to cross the river, and in their eyes, it was no different from a bus. Now it's been turned into a tourist attraction. Don't go during holidays; the lines are so long you'll question your life. For a better experience, go around 8 a.m. when there aren't many people. After 8:30 a.m., tour groups start arriving, and the experience won't be as good. White Elephant Residence is nearby, so you can stop by on your way there.

Walk from Jiefangbei to the Yangtze River Cableway North Station (Xinhua Road Station). The Yangtze River Cableway, once a means of transportation for Chongqing residents to travel across the Yangtze River, has been in operation for over 30 years and was known as the "Sky Bus of the Mountain City." With the city's development, numerous bridges have been built across the Yangtze River, and a light rail system now allows passengers to cross the river. As Chongqing residents rarely use the cableway anymore, the Yangtze River Cableway has become a popular online attraction. Once you reach the Yangtze River Cableway South Station (Shangxinjie Station), don't rush to leave; there's an observation deck right next to the station for great photos.

Cable car ticket: 20 yuan for one way and 30 yuan for round trip.

One of the must-try projects in Chongqing, it crosses the Yangtze River from Yuzhong District to the foot of Nanshan Mountain. Before the opening of the subway, this was a very important daily transportation method. Now it is almost entirely used by passengers to check in.

The Yangtze River Cableway, Chongqing's second cross-river cableway, has been in operation for over 30 years and is known as "the Yangtze River's first aerial corridor" and "the mountain city's aerial bus." Designed and manufactured in China, this large-scale, cross-river passenger cableway stretches 1,166 meters, connecting Chongqing's Yuzhong District and Nan'an District. The journey takes four minutes, running between Xinhua Road in Yuzhong District and Shangxin Street in Nan'an District. Climbing the Yangtze River Cableway offers an authentic Chongqing experience. The cableway has become a city icon and a favorite of numerous filmmakers.

Hailed as "the first aerial corridor of the Yangtze River" and the "mountain city's sky bus," the 1,166-meter Yangtze River Cableway connects Chongqing's Yuzhong and Nan'an districts. The ride takes less than four minutes and costs 30 yuan for a round-trip or 20 yuan for a one-way trip. Most people board the cableway from Yuzhong, so queues there can be long, while the Nan'an area is less crowded. Evening travel is recommended, despite the high crowds and one-hour wait times for a three-minute ride. However, the scenery along the two sides of the cableway at night is stunning, offering a more visually appealing experience than during the day.

Nothing better embodies the city of Chongqing's appearance than the cross-river cableway. The Chongqing Yangtze River Cableway is the first large-scale cross-river passenger cableway designed and manufactured in my country. It is known as the first "sky corridor" of the Yangtze River and the city's "Airbus".

The cable car starts from Xinhua Road (Chang'an Temple) in Yuzhong District in the north and ends at Shangxin Street (Longmenhao) in Nan'an District in the south, connecting the bustling business district of Yuzhong District and the scenic and urban Nan'an District. It was once an important means of transportation for residents.

With more bridges and faster light rail, the Yangtze River Cableway is now more about providing a tourist experience. This iron box, dropped onto several steel cables as thick as my forearm, drifted back and forth over the Yangtze River. My first ride, I forced myself to remain calm, knowing the surging river was just a dozen meters below. An accident would have been a sure death. Gazing at the nightscape not far away, the lights of the mountains and rivers crisscrossing the city as the cableway traveled, my fear faded. I recommend boarding the Yangtze River Cableway from Shangxinjie Station, heading in the opposite direction; you'll find that waiting times are cut in half.

Taking the Yangtze River Cableway from Nanshan District will save you a lot of queuing time compared to taking it from the North Shore District.

It is recommended to experience a one-way trip. After all, the queue time is quite long. It would be much faster to take the subway. It is recommended to take the subway to Nanshan District first, and take the Yangtze River Cableway on the return trip. You can buy tickets on site.

By Small fish sauce |

Although there is a subway, it is also very quick to take the cable car to the Nanshan Yikeshu Scenic Area. In fact, it is a slow cable car and it doesn't get close to residential buildings, but since I'm here, I might as well experience it.

The Yangtze River Cableway was once just a common means of transportation for locals, but with its use as a filming location for various movies, TV shows, and variety shows, it's become a popular destination for everyone. It's said that during holidays, the cableway is packed with people (as seen in this photo), becoming a tourist attraction with three- or four-hour lines for a six-minute ride. We were lucky to arrive on a Monday, a non-holiday day, so the crowds were minimal. We quickly bought our tickets, cleared security, and got into the elevator line. After waiting for a while, our turn finally arrived.

Purchase your ticket in advance on the Chongqing Cableway Company official account. Simply enter your ID number and use the QR code to board the cable car. It's recommended to take the route from Shangxin Street to Xiaoshizi (South Station), where it's much less crowded. A one-way trip costs 20 yuan per person, while a round trip costs 30 yuan. I personally don't think the round trip is necessary.

A cable car can seat 50 people. If you can't get a window seat at the front, you might as well be the last one to get on. You can also stand by the window after the door closes. I happened to be standing near the other cable car and took some great photos.

We bought round-trip tickets, going from the North Bank to the South Bank and back again. The North Bank is usually more crowded. You can also follow the "Chongqing Cableway Company" WeChat official account and make reservations there. This way, you don't have to queue on site during busy times; just wait for the time indicated on WeChat and go. You need your ID card to buy your cableway ticket at the self-service ticket machine. Don't worry if you don't have it with you; just fill out the form and buy the ticket via WeChat.

From Zengjiayan, take the Light Rail Line 2 to Jiaochangkou and transfer to Line 1 directly to Xiaoshizi. After exiting the station, you will see the ticket office for the Yangtze River Cableway. I can only say that there are too many people at Jiefangbei!!! The line lasted from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM. I was so happy to see so few people in line when I first exited the station... At the cable car ticket counter, we ran into a bunch of junior students and juniors volunteering there. We chatted for a while, and seeing them constantly calling us "seniors" was so heartwarming. College students are so much more innocent and adorable, after all. We were tactful enough to give up and reluctantly headed to our next destination. (On the way, we learned that Lao Ba and his group were also going to try the cable car, and were heading to Shangxin Street. I heard there were fewer people there. Oh, I regret it! This experience is a lesson for you all. So next time you go, remember to avoid Jiefangbei and go to Shangxin Street instead. Lao Ba and his group came down from Nanshan Yikeshu, but we didn't go because I think the night view there is better. There's not much to see during the day. I guess they wanted to go at night, but evenings are usually packed with dinner and drinking parties, and by the end it would be late, so how would they have the time?)

I went to Chongqing during the National Day holiday and it was so crowded I couldn't believe it... It's really a city that has become popular because of Douyin and movies. The Yangtze River Cableway needs to be booked in advance, which can be done on the official account. The price is a bit expensive. The scenery is best at night.

It is recommended to take a round trip because it is not convenient to return to the other end of the island

By linkway |

The Yangtze River Cableway is now a AAA scenic spot.

The ticket price for the scenic spot is 20 yuan for a one-way trip and 30 yuan for a round trip.

Although it's not easy to get a front-row view, it's still worth a visit.

The Yangtze River Cableway (Xinhua Road, Cableway North Station - Shangxin Station, Cableway South Station) Xinhua Road is located near Bayi Road... There was a long line of people waiting to take the Yangtze River Cableway... I followed the online advice and took the cableway from Shangxin Station. I skipped the line and got on directly... I took a one-way trip and went straight to the Bayi Road snack street. A great itinerary

The Yangtze River Cableway, located in Chongqing, China, is the city's second cross-river cableway (the first being the Jialing River Cableway (now demolished)). With a 30-year history, it's been hailed as the "first aerial corridor of the Yangtze River" and the "Mountain City's aerial bus." Designed and manufactured in China, the Yangtze River Cableway is a large-scale, cross-river passenger cableway. It stretches 1,166 meters, connecting Chongqing's Yuzhong District and Nan'an District, running between Xinhua Road (Xiaoshizi Metro Station) in Yuzhong District and Shangxin Street in Nan'an District. It travels at a speed of 6 meters per second, takes four minutes, and carries 10,500 passengers daily (according to Baidu Encyclopedia). The Yangtze River Cableway is a must-see attraction in Chongqing. However, it seems that Chongqing locals pay a few yuan for a bus pass, while tourists pay dozens. The fact that the show "Go Fighting!" was once filmed here further boosted its popularity. Chongqing is a wonderful place. It's recommended to change your mindset when visiting and slow down to immerse yourself in this magical city!

The Yangtze River Cableway, one of Chongqing's oldest modes of transportation, is often called the "Skycar." It has been in operation for over 30 years, embracing generations and now a nationally renowned attraction. Being a Chongqing native makes me incredibly proud and moved! Riding this vintage cableway and gazing at the captivating three-dimensional scenery on both sides of the river, I feel that Chongqing, a mountain city, truly lives up to its reputation as a place where "mountains lie within a city," and "a city lies within a mountain." Tickets have gone from 2 yuan to 20 yuan, which I personally find quite affordable. With the passage of time, rising prices, and improved living standards, I think this experience is a must-try for travelers to Chongqing. Tickets are also convenient, available online or in cash. However, be mindful of holidays. I personally recommend riding at South Station, where the crowds are smaller, but the scenery remains the same. After arriving at the North Station, you can also take a walk on the Baixiang Street next to it. It is our Chongqing historical old street and an important cultural base. There is also a popular old street on the South Station side, Longmenhao Old Street, which is excellent no matter day or night and is worth a visit. As for the others, I will tell you next time. Just look at the pictures. Hehe

Most people will choose to go to Xiaoshizi Station because it is close to Jiefangbei, so it is best to go to Shangxin Street. There are indeed not many people there and the queue is about 20 minutes.

The Yangtze River Cableway is 1,166 meters long and connects Chongqing's Yuzhong District and Nan'an District. It is the second cross-river cableway in Chongqing. The first is the Jialing River Cableway. Its original purpose was to facilitate people to cross the river quickly, but now it has become a tourist project. One carriage can accommodate about 40 people and it takes only a few minutes to reach the other side of the river. The one-way fare is 20 yuan and the round-trip fare is 30 yuan. You can overlook the scenery on the river from above.

Although I was standing in the front row of the cable car

But the rain blurred everything

Xiaoshizi is the North Station

Shangxin Street is the South Station

The latter has fewer people queuing

The whole process is about 6 minutes in the air.

It ended so quickly that I even forgot the excitement I imagined.

But I still like it

By DC |

It feels a bit disappointing. Although there is not much queue, there are too many people in one car. If you queue up and get in, it is just like taking a bus. You can't see the beautiful scenery outside the window at all. You can only squeeze to the circle near the window to take pictures of the scenery. It is also difficult to wait for the opposite cable car to pass by. I am a bit disappointed 😞

Construction on the Chongqing Yangtze River Cableway began on March 20, 1986, and was completed and put into operation on October 24, 1987. As my country's first large-scale cross-river passenger cableway designed and manufactured, it is known as the Yangtze River's first "Skywalk" and "City Skybus." The cableway runs from Xinhua Road (Chang'an Temple) in Yuzhong District in the north to Shangxin Street (Longmenhao) in Nan'an District in the south, connecting the bustling commercial district of Yuzhong with the scenic and cosmopolitan Nan'an District. It is a crucial component of Chongqing's unique three-dimensional transportation network, a city icon that complements Chongqing's natural beauty and culture, and complements the city's mountain scenery.

You can now buy tickets online and enter the station using a QR code. This wasn't the case a few years ago. There are still a lot of people queuing up... I was lucky this time and found a seat near the side with a view of the river.

It's truly worth checking out, but be sure to read the guide. It's much, much faster to get there from the South Bank side! Just take Line 6 to Shangxinjie, walk about 300 to 500 meters to the cable car entrance, queue for a few minutes, and you can get on. It takes less than 10 minutes to get to the Jiefangbei end.

Mainly to see the night view, there are more people on the cable car in the evening.

The weather was bad. It started with heavy rain⛈️. Finally, the rain stopped. I took a cable car. The scenery was average. It was like taking a small car from one end to the other end of the river. When buying a ticket, you can buy a one-way ticket. Don't buy a round trip. You will regret it because the queue takes 1-2 hours each time. It's very annoying to stand and wait.

By Old Horse |

It's a great choice to watch Chaotianmen, but there are too many queues.

By Lonely old soul |

It is one of the most popular check-in spots in Chongqing. It is a means of transportation for locals to cross the river. There are still a lot of people queuing up during festivals. Looking at the buildings on both sides of the river from the surface, the scenery is still quite good.

By Flower Season |

The Yangtze River Cableway requires a two-hour queue and only takes five minutes to pass. It's really ridiculous. It used to be a means of transportation for people, but now it has become a tourist attraction. The scenery seen from the cable car is still good.

The Yangtze River Cableway is an attraction that I must experience during my visit to Chongqing.

I bought a ticket early in the morning and finally boarded the Yangtze River Cableway, which I had always wanted to ride. As I rode, I could feel the magnificent scenery and beautiful views across the two rivers.

Looking down from the window eaves, the Qiansimen Jialing River Bridge in the distance forms a sharp contrast with the buildings surrounded by fog, as if this majestic bridge is the only entrance to the fairyland ahead.

This Yangtze River Cableway, spanning Chongqing's two rivers and traversing the Yangtze River, is now 30 years old. I am deeply impressed by the wisdom of the locals. It has made me appreciate the uniqueness and wonder of this mountain city, its unique scenery, and its unique transportation.

We first rushed to the Yangtze River Cableway, which was under maintenance and not open to the public. A warning: the line was incredibly long. The one-way trip took about 4 minutes, but the wait was over an hour. I'm a complete geek, especially since I don't know how long the wait would be. We even bought round-trip tickets. We went there at daybreak, but it ended at dusk.

By Yvonne |

Looking back now, the Yangtze River Cableway was quite expensive, 20 yuan for a one-way trip of 4 minutes, and there were a lot of people riding it, but it was okay to experience it for the first time.

By The youngest member of the family - JIN Xiaoer |

In the South Bank area, you need to walk for a while to reach the cable car. You can buy tickets with your ID card, which costs 20 yuan each. After checking the ticket, you have to queue up to get on the bus. You must find a seat by the window, otherwise you can't see anything. The speed is quite fast and stable. It feels like you reach the other side in less than 5 minutes.

By Monster Old Aunt |

The guide said that there were a lot of people at Jiefangbei Station, but there were few people taking the Yangtze River Cableway from Shangxin Street. As a result, we took the subway from Exit A of Xiaoshizi Subway Station, made a big circle to Shangxin Street, and took the Yangtze River Cableway to Jiefangbei. We found that there were not many people. It was the off-season, so there were few people and there was no need to make such a big circle.

Key points: 1. The Jiefangbei Station of the Yangtze River Cableway is at Exit B of Xiaoshizi Station. You can go there first. If there are too many people, you can also go to Shangxinjie Station.

2. Just take a ride and experience it, no need to buy a round trip

There are very few people at Shangxinjie Station, so you don't have to queue up at all and can easily grab the best spot to take photos on the cable car.

By I can't figure it out |

We had planned to go to the cable car the day before, but when we arrived around 5:00 PM, the line had already reached 2,000 people. 2,000 people! We expected the line to be over two hours long, so we gave up. This morning, we rushed to the line, skipping even breakfast. We only just discovered this morning that you can buy tickets by scanning a QR code, so the effort of queuing wasted. It was almost 10 PM when we arrived, and there were only a few hundred people in line. We waited just over ten minutes before we got on.

I was lucky enough to get up early and grab the best spot. Standing in the corner, I could see straight ahead and also see the side of the river. The view was very complete.

There is an observation deck on the way back where you can take photos. There was no one queuing up to buy tickets on the way back. Most of the people were tourists who bought round-trip tickets. The return ropeway was very easy.

By Heroes Don't Ask |

This view is really suitable with the super low ticket price of the cable car.

When I opened the window on the cable car, the wind was very strong and refreshing. Looking across the river, I could see tall buildings standing in rows, and the scenery was unobstructed.

We shuttled up and down between the old buildings and felt the integration of the cable car and the locals. The corridors were interconnected, and the old Chongqing people were too lazy to pay attention to us even though they were playing mahjong. It couldn't be more local~ [The most Chongqing] The residential area under the Yangtze River Cableway is the best

It was late in the evening and not crowded, so we waited in line for a while. We sat across from the train station, but when we realized there wasn't anything interesting to see, we returned. It's definitely worth the experience! Sitting there, I automatically recalled the plots of movies like "Zhou Yu's Train" and "Crazy Stone," as if I were actually experiencing them myself. My favorite variety show, "Go Fighting," was also recorded here.
