Dahongpao Scenic Area (Wuyishan Scenic Area)

The Dahongpao Scenic Area is named after the production of the most famous Dahongpao tea in Wuyi Mountain. One of the scenic spots in the scenic area is the Dahongpao tea tree, which is located in a pot-shaped tea garden on the waist of the rock. There are 6 trees in total, and they are protected by stone weirs outside, which makes them very precious; the three characters "Dahongpao" are engraved on the rock wall. There is a pavilion under the pot-shaped tea garden, called Jiulong Tea House, where you can taste the famous tea while enjoying the beautiful scenery. The tea garden landscape of the Dahongpao Scenic Area also includes the Jiulongke Tea Garden, which is green, fragrant and beautiful.
The Dahongpao Scenic Area also houses the largest Buddhist temple in Wuyi Mountain, the Tianxin Yongle Temple, which has magnificent architecture and towering pavilions. In addition, there are also scenic spots such as Niulankeng and Sanhua Peak.

After leaving the Shuiliandong Scenic Area, we continued to take the shuttle bus to the Dahongpao Scenic Area. This is really a place where you feel you have missed something if you don't come here, and you really regret it after coming here. You have to walk a long way from the entrance of the scenic area to reach the mother tree of Dahongpao. The so-called mother tree of Dahongpao is just six small shrubs. The trees next to the carved red characters are the mother trees of Dahongpao. Tea eggs are said to be made with Dahongpao tea. This is probably what Taiwanese people call tea eggs that they can't afford.

We hiked from Huxiaoyan to Dahongpao. Although it was a long way and took a long time to walk, the scenery along the way gave us a big surprise.

At the foot of the mountain, I saw many people leaning against tree trunks of different sizes. I thought they were praying for blessings.

Entering the Dahongpao scenic area, you will see various varieties of tea along the way. I didn’t expect that the mother tree of Dahongpao, which is said to be worth tens of millions, is on the cliff??? Tourists can only stand at the foot of the mountain and watch from a distance. People with poor eyesight probably can’t see it clearly.

Dahongpao Scenic Area is one of the must-see attractions in Wuyi Mountain. Leaders who come to inspect and exchange ideas usually arrange this spot. I think it is probably the same as Longjing Eighteen Royal Tea.

After getting off the scenic bus, you still need to walk a long way and climb a few steps. There are some tea gardens on this road, and the varieties of Wuyi rock tea grown include cinnamon, narcissus, etc.

There is a trickling stream beside the mountain road leading up the steps, and from time to time a small waterfall is formed due to the drop in height.

Keep going up to the place where there is a canteen and rest room, and you can see the mother tree of Dahongpao. It is said that they grow on the cliffs, but it is not so exaggerated.

These six Dahongpao mother trees have a history of more than 360 years and are listed as world natural and cultural heritage as ancient and famous trees.

The tea produced by this mother tree is particularly precious and was once auctioned for a high price. However, the country has now banned the picking of tea. There are also professional technicians responsible for the maintenance of these six trees.

The main purpose of this attraction is to experience the tea culture of Wuyi Mountain, and the scenery is very ordinary.

Dahongpao Scenic Area is the best place to produce rock tea in Wuyi Mountain. It is rich in resources, with clear water and red mountains. For thousands of years, it has created a paradise for tea trees. Dahongpao is the most famous tea in the area and is known as the "king of tea".

By Still wanting more |

See the mother tree of Dahongpao in Dahongpao Scenic Area. Take the bus from the South Gate Scenic Bus South Entrance Station to Wuyi Palace Station, then transfer to the scenic bus to Dahongpao Scenic Area and get off at Dahongpao Station.

As one of the four famous tea bushes in Wuyi, the Dahongpao tea tree in Wuyi Mountain is listed as the first of the four famous bushes in Wuyi Mountain due to its excellent tea-making quality, and is known as the king of tea. Wuyi Mountain has 36 peaks and 99 famous rocks in a radius of 60 kilometers. Tea grows on every rock, hence the name rock tea. Among them, the six Dahongpao mother trees growing on the high cliffs of Jiulongke in Wuyi Mountain are more than 340 years old. Today, the Dahongpao mother trees have been recorded as ancient trees in the Wuyi Mountain World Natural Heritage. Since 2006, the Dahongpao mother trees have stopped being picked.

By Lin Guaiguai Rabbit |

Two suggestions. First, you must come to this place, but if you are just here to check in and enjoy the beautiful scenery, you need to lower your expectations; second, don’t believe too much in the various wonderful stories about Dahongpao you see from tour guides, staff, vendors, and guides during your trip, otherwise it will lower your IQ.

The whole journey of playing in Dahongpao Scenic Area is very relaxing. The end point is called Jiulongke. There are six tea trees on the cliff, which are the mother trees of the famous Dahongpao. The Dahongpao all over Wuyi Mountain is grafted from these six trees. At present, these mother trees are more than 360 years old. They are too old, and the leaves are old and no longer fresh. They can no longer be used to make tea. Picking has stopped since 2006. Looking up from below, the six trees are surrounded by red ropes, which is very plain. The meaning of checking in at this scenic spot lies in the heart, not in the eyes.

The stories about Dahongpao are actually all false. For example, Dahongpao cured the illness of the top scholar. It is said that during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, a scholar passed by this place on his way to Beijing for an imperial examination. He got a serious illness and was taken care of by a local monk. Then he became the top scholar. Then he came back here and covered the tea trees with the Dahongpao he was wearing. Since then, these trees got their name. However, the official said that they are only more than 360 years old, and at most appeared in the early Qing Dynasty. This incident during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty can be traced back to the period of Zhu Yuanzhang.

Even more bizarre is the Nixon story. When Nixon visited China in 1972, Mao Zedong gave him 4 liang of Dahongpao. Nixon thought it was too stingy, so Zhou Enlai immediately explained: Dahongpao produces 8 liang a year, and the Chairman gave you 4 liang, which means he has already given you half of China! The fact that such a brainless story can be widely circulated is itself a legend. When it was given to Nixon, there was also a pair of giant pandas! Nixon was angry about 4 liang of tea. Did he visit China to discuss human relations with China? Moreover, how could Zhou Enlai say such a cheap diplomatic rhetoric as "giving away half of China"? If such a thing really happened, this episode that insults the national prestige would have been banned long ago. How can it still be talked about in society?

There are also rumors that Dahongpao can help with bowel movements, cure stomach problems, cure bloating, and even cure cancer. What can I say? I'm not a doctor and I don't know whether it works or not. I can't refute it. Whoever wants to believe it can believe it!

The Dahongpao Scenic Area is located in the Jiulongke Grand Canyon, a deep and long valley controlled by an east-west fault structure, with nine jagged rock peaks like nine swimming dragons. The world-famous Wuyi rock tea Dahongpao grows on the cliffs on the north side of the Jiulongke Valley bottom, and has a history of 350 years.

Wuyishan Dahongpao is the most famous tea in Wuyishan, known as the "king of teas", and grows on a steep rock wall in Jiulongke. Follow the path in the mountains to find the mother tree of Wuyishan Dahongpao. Along the way are tea fields, between the high mountains of Wuyishan, nourished by the clouds and mist, green and lush.

One of the four major scenic spots in Wuyi Mountain, the scenery is not as good as Tianyou Peak, but you can see Danxia and there is a tea garden. If you are interested, you can climb the tea garden to enjoy the scenery. It is recommended to arrange a 2-day tour of the four major scenic spots in Wuyi Mountain.

I don't like drinking tea, so I can't give any advice on this. But it's good to see the process of picking and making tea, and it's good to increase the cheese.

It's not interesting. Just look at the mother plants of Da Hong Pao. You need to be very knowledgeable about tea culture to understand it.

By Mr. Octave |

You will be surprised to see the century-old mother trees in the Dahongpao scenic area. They produce only 7 taels of rice a year and are basically out of stock.

Follow the sign and keep walking towards the Water Curtain Cave. After climbing a small slope, you don’t need to climb anymore. You will basically walk through the valley and Liuxiangjian. There are several scenes from Journey to the West in Liuxiangjian.

There is a Zen temple after you pass Liuxiangjian. The tea culture here is very strong and you can see people tasting tea everywhere in the mountains.

After passing the Eagle's Beak Rock, the Water Curtain Cave is a little further ahead. You need to go uphill to climb the Water Curtain Cave. When I went there, it was the dry season and there was basically nothing to see. I heard that the water flow is very large from November to May.

I was quite disappointed to see the four ancient tea trees of Dahongpao that are said to be insured for 200 million yuan. The Dahongpao tea eggs, which cost 10 yuan for three, were really fragrant. Halfway through, they attracted three stray dogs to follow them, which made me panic. Fortunately, the tea picker in the scenic area helped me drink two of them back, and the remaining one was very persistent, so I finally gave it half.

The road to Dahongpao is full of tea leaves of all kinds. Wuyi Mountain tea is still very good! Personally, I don't recommend walking from Shuilian Cave to Dahongpao. It's too far and tiring. It's best to get to Dahongpao first, then take a sightseeing bus to Shuilian Cave, which can save a lot of walking! In addition, if you want to go directly from Dahongpao to the South Gate entrance, you need to take a sightseeing bus to Wuyi Palace first and then transfer to the South Gate.

Wuyi Mountain is one of the ten most famous mountains in China. I have admired this number one mountain in Fujian for a long time. This time I was fortunate to visit it. Zhu Yuanhui's Heavenly Questions, the steep beauty of Tianyou Peak, the elegance of Jiuqu Creek, the ruggedness of Huxiao Rock, the coolness of Yitiantian, the agility of Shuilian Cave, and the timeless beauty of Dahongpao made me feel refreshed both physically and mentally and will be unforgettable for a lifetime.

A mountain is not famous because of its height, but because of the immortals living there.

It’s not how deep the water is that matters; it’s not how magical it is if there is a dragon inside.

Confucius was born in Mount Tai, and Zhu Xi was born in Wuyi.

The two most famous peaks of Confucianism.

I hope that with the development of science and technology, one day, human beings will be able to answer the question that Zhu Xi asked in his childhood and pondered throughout his life:

"What is the sky attached to?"

Lawrence Krauss, a famous American theoretical physicist, wrote on the cover of his book A Universe from Nothing:

“Everything originates from emptiness, but where does emptiness come from?”

By Gongziqi |

This scenic spot is mainly based on tea culture. Along the way, there are tea trees besides strange peaks and rocks. The most important thing is to see the only 6 Dahongpao mother trees left in the world on the rock wall. When the output was the highest, it was only 7 taels and 2 cents per year, and in most cases only 4 taels. Now picking has long been banned, and the insurance coverage is as high as 100 million yuan per year!

By Lao Kang |

To take the scenic area shuttle bus to Dahongpao, you need to transfer at Wuyi Palace. In fact, you can also take bus No. 9 to the north entrance of the scenic area, and then go to the Water Curtain Cave Scenic Area first and then walk along the Rock Bone and Flower Fragrance to the Dahongpao Scenic Area, so there is really no need for transportation between scenic spots. However, the guides I have seen are also different. Some say that the bus ticket is bundled with the ticket, and some say that the ticket is purchased separately (after arriving at the station, "We took Wuyi No. 7 bus, which departed at 10:30 and arrived at the south gate of Wuyishan Scenic Area at 11:15. The ticket office bought a two-day ticket for the scenic area for 150/person. With the mentality of exercising, we did not buy the internal transportation ticket of the scenic area, and walked the whole way") "Because there was no travel guide mentioning the role of bus No. 9 at the time, I bought the ticket online in advance to add the sightseeing bus, but in reality, I really felt that bus No. 9 was enough.

The Dahongpao scenic area is to see six 340-year-old Dahongpao mother trees growing on the cliff in mid-air (don't have too many expectations.) But it feels good to hike to the Water Curtain Cave.

The Dahongpao scenic area is surrounded by mountains, streams and clouds. It is this unique environment that has created the best Wuyi rock tea - Dahongpao.

Walking along the stone road in the scenic area, there are tea gardens on the roadside. The leaves of the tea trees are washed green and shiny by the rain. Looking at the names of the tea varieties written in the bushes, it seems as if you can smell the fragrance of tea.

And those venerable old tea trees have become a landscape embedded in the cliff, like a medal of Wuyi Mountain.

The Dahongpao scenic area itself is just so-so, with only a few lonely treasures on the cliff, which is boring to look at. But the rock-bone and flower-scented roaming trail is nice to walk around.

Dahongpao, uh, a little small. Maybe I'm used to it in the north, where the common tourist attraction photos are small buildings in wide angles, and when I see the real thing, I always feel like I'm looking up at it. It's the opposite here. Although I know that Dahongpao should not be a tall tree species, I really didn't expect that even the signboard is so small.

The Dahongpao Scenic Area is located in the center of Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area, in the famous "Nine Dragons' Nest" canyon in the scenic area. This is a deep valley controlled by the east-west fault structure. The valley is deep, with nine long, single-sided mountains on both sides, towering and rugged peaks, facing each other from north to south, and the unique joints make the peaks undulate.

The world-famous Dahongpao grows on the cliffs on the north side of the Jiulongke Valley. There are two bonsai-style ancient tea gardens, one large and one small, with six ancient and lush tea trees with luxuriant branches and leaves. It has a history of more than 340 years.

The rock-bone and flower-fragrance slow-travel trail from Dahongpao Scenic Spot to Shuilian Cave mainly includes: Liuxiangjian, Feilai Peak, Yuzhu Peak, Huiyuan Temple, Yingzui Rock, Wuyi Ancient Cliff Dwelling Ruins, Zhangtangjian and other attractions.

As soon as you enter the Dahongpao Scenic Area, you will see a flat mountain road. On one side is a mountain wall, and on the other side is a tea garden, which is beautifully called the "Slow Tour Road". The winding path leads to a secluded place, but there are few people. Well, it feels good to walk leisurely among the mountains and tea fragrance. Of course, what makes us most happy is that this road is relatively flat, which just satisfies the two of us who have leg pain and don't want to climb the mountain. There are actually two forks in the front, and the back is still a connected ring. Because we didn't want to climb the slope, we chose a road that was flat but a little farther away for both entering and exiting. There was almost no need to climb up and down along the way. Soon, we can reach the core area of the Dahongpao Scenic Area. There are also thatched houses in the mountains, which are probably the places where tea farmers pick tea and rest.

The essence of the Dahongpao scenic area is to see these three centuries-old trees. It is said that the original "Dahongpao" refers to the three of them, so this tea is extremely precious. The Dahongpao transplanted later are all descendants of these three old trees. About the year before last, these three ancestors have been protected by the state. Picking is no longer allowed, and only viewing from a distance is allowed. They have become the spiritual symbol of Wuyi Mountain and even Fujian tea culture. Today's Dahongpao is a general term for a broad local type of oolong tea. They are no longer the same as the Dahongpao of the past in terms of variety and taste. They just continue the most honorable title in the tea industry and become the local cultural business card of Wuyi Mountain.

There are also some "Dahongpao Tea Egg" shops next to it, and some "World's No. 1 Egg". There are quite a lot of people, just take a look.

In fact, this score is all for the scenery along the way from Dahongpao Scenic Area to Shuiliandong. If you take a sightseeing bus, it would be a pity. If you don't go, you will regret it. There is a tour guide who said that these three trees are worth 100 million yuan. Well, let's take it as it is! After seeing Dahongpao, you can return to the scenic area by the same route and take the scenic area transportation bus, or you can walk along the rock bone flower fragrance slow tour path to the Water Curtain Cave Scenic Area. The air on the entire slow tour path is very fresh. The sign says 2.8 kilometers, which is definitely a deep pit. This 2.8 kilometers is definitely a straight-line distance, and the actual uphill and downhill walking must be much more than this number. We walked for two hours while playing, taking pictures, and walking.

When I walked to the Dahongpao Tea Garden, I was excited because a friend said that you can see the origin of Dahongpao there, and joked that I should bring some back. I said that it is the origin and I dare not touch it, and it grows on the mountain wall, I can't climb the wall. The facilities here in the Dahongpao Tea Garden are very complete, even the toilets make people can't help but take pictures, clean and classical, the shops are hung with red lanterns, as if waiting for you to pass by. Everyone regards this place as a rest stop. If you are tired, you can rest in the shop. There are also many foods. If you are interested, you can also visit how people here used to make tea, but you need to climb a little bit of the mountain. I really think that people in the past were very smart and hardworking, and the tea they made was also fragrant. Do you see the three big red characters of Dahongpao in the picture? This is the origin of Dahongpao. I didn't kneel down when I saw the originator. Haha, just kidding. Standing here, I can see tea everywhere at a glance, and the scenery is beautiful. Legend has it that Dahongpao grew from seeds that cranes brought from Penglai Island and left on this cliff on Mount Wuyi. Another legend says that monks at Tianxin Temple once used tea produced from these tea trees to cure an emperor's illness. The emperor draped the red robe worn by the top scholar on the tea tree to express his gratitude, so the red robe dyed the tea tree red. There are three large vermilion characters "Dahongpao" on the cliff. Dahongpao has dense branches and leaves, and the leaf tips extend upward and obliquely. The leaves are wide and oval, with the tip drooping downward and the edges curling inward. The leaves are dark green and shiny, and if they are new buds, they are purple-red. Every early spring when the tea trees sprout, the whole tree looks bright red from a distance, as if it is wearing a red robe.

In fact, the most beautiful part should be the path from Shuilian Cave to Dahongpao Scenic Area - along the bone tea fragrance. It takes us an hour and a half to walk the entire way (quite fast), but along the way there are fragrant tea gardens, green mountains and clear waters, as well as fast-flowing water and walking on wooden stakes. Very few tour groups will take tourists here, so there is a feeling of being the only one walking on this vast world.

The Dahongpao Scenic Area is full of tea trees, and the Wuyi Rock Tea is famous. Among them, there are three precious Dahongpao mother tea trees that grow on cliffs. They have a history of 300 years, absorbing rain and dew from heaven and earth every day, with sunshine time not exceeding 5 hours. Their root system is very developed and attached to the cliffs, which can fix the nutrients washed down from the top of the mountain by rainwater. The annual tea production is less than 8 taels.

I went there just to see some trees... The only thing was the tea eggs there were pretty good.

Wuyi Mountain is the most famous scenic spot, the legendary origin of the best tea. Although it looks very ordinary from a distance, it is extremely popular. Although it is impossible to drink the tea from the mother tree, the Dahongpao series of tea is very good. The terrain is flat, suitable for a slow walk, and basically anyone can visit without any obstacles.

On the way to the ancient tea tree, there is a tea garden on one side and rocks and flowing water on the other side. When I saw the tea trees growing on the cliff, I was more interested in the Dahongpao tea eggs sold in the small shop opposite. They tasted good and cost 4 yuan each.

Finally, at 16:30, we saw these six "Da Hong Pao" mother trees. There are many stories about the mother trees. This journey really exhausted my mother. We ate three tea eggs under the Da Hong Pao mother tree. It is said that they were cooked with Da Hong Pao tea leaves. There was a hole on the tea eggs, which was full of flavor and had a good effect of replenishing physical strength.

The Dahongpao scenic area is located in the north of the main scenic area of Wuyi Mountain, adjacent to the Shuiliandong scenic area. The main attraction here is the six Dahongpao mother trees that are hundreds of years old on the cliff. To be honest, there is nothing surprising from the appearance, but the value is unparalleled. In addition, there are some cliff carvings at the entrance, and there are streams and tea gardens along the way, that's all. The scenic area itself can be visited in less than half an hour. It is recommended to go up the steps inside and take the rock bone flower fragrance slow walking path to Shuiliandong. The scenery along the way is quite good!

Very unique and historical, nothing to complain about except the high price; tea boiled eggs are 4 yuan each, the taste is very special, tea is 15 yuan a cup, the taste is very ordinary rock tea, but it seems to have a touch of fairy air when drinking under Dahongpao; 2016.1.22 Tasting tea eggs and tea in the rain;

Wuyi Mountain! Wuyi Mountain! Wuyi Mountain!

We stayed in Wuyi Mountain for two days. The sun was shining brightly on the first day, but it started to rain on the second day. We couldn't change the itinerary we had already arranged, so we went in the rain.

Until now, I still remember this walk in the rain vividly, because it was so beautiful.

We passed by a tea garden on a rainy day and saw the fresh leaves. We passed by a stream and saw the misty water. Looking back, I can’t even remember my shoes getting wet. I only remember the beauty of Wuyi Mountain that day.

It’s not as beautiful as described, but I still think it’s beautiful and worth spending 2 or 3 days there.

The Dahongpao scenic area is just average, you can go or not.

Since I was a child, I imagined Da Hong Pao to be a 3-4 meter tall tea tree, with a trunk that required several people to surround it, and a red cassock covering the top of the tree... But when I arrived at the site, I only saw the three big characters "Da Hong Pao" but no trace of the tree. Finally, after being pointed out by others, I realized that the few inconspicuous small shrubs next to the characters were the famous Da Hong Pao... Disillusionment - - But the scenery was not bad

The Dahongpao scenic area has the largest temple in Wuyi Mountain, Tianxin Yongle Temple, and Dahongpao, which is said to be a magical tea. Six mother trees grow on the rocks, and it is said that there are cameras around the trees to prevent theft.

The plain area of Wuyi Mountain is especially worth visiting for an old man like me. There are many varieties of Dahongpao tea.

It is still okay to drink the local Dahongpao tea produced in Wuyi Mountain and tea eggs cooked with Dahongpao tea. However, the Dahongpao on the market are all planted from the branches cut from the mother tree in the past. The existing six mother trees of Dahongpao have stopped picking and are protected. Because of natural reasons, the Dahongpao that falls from the mother tree due to wind and rain will be collected and collected from the central high floor. But it will only be a few grams or a few taels in one year.

Countless varieties of tea trees, unknown cliff carvings, and a few precious old tea trees...
