After leaving the Shuiliandong Scenic Area, we continued to take the shuttle bus to the Dahongpao Scenic Area. You have to walk a long way from the entrance of the scenic area to reach the mother tree of Dahongpao. The so-called mother tree of Dahongpao is just six small shrubs. This is probably what Taiwanese people call tea eggs that they can't afford.

We hiked from Huxiaoyan to Dahongpao. Although it was a long way and took a long time to walk, the scenery along the way gave us a big surprise.

Entering the Dahongpao scenic area, you will see various varieties of tea along the way. I didn’t expect that the mother tree of Dahongpao, which is said to be worth tens of millions, is on the cliff??? Tourists can only stand at the foot of the mountain and watch from a distance. People with poor eyesight probably can’t see it clearly.

Dahongpao Scenic Area is one of the must-see attractions in Wuyi Mountain. Leaders who come to inspect and exchange ideas usually arrange this spot. I think it is probably the same as Longjing Eighteen Royal Tea.



After getting off the scenic bus, you still need to walk a long way and climb a few steps. There are some tea gardens on this road, and the varieties of Wuyi rock tea grown include cinnamon, narcissus, etc.

He got a serious illness and was taken care of by a local monk. Then he became the top scholar. Then he came back here and covered the tea trees with the Dahongpao he was wearing. Since then, these trees got their name. However, the official said that they are only more than 360 years old, and at most appeared in the early Qing Dynasty. This incident during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty can be traced back to the period of Zhu Yuanzhang.

Even more bizarre is the Nixon story. When Nixon visited China in 1972, Mao Zedong gave him 4 liang of Dahongpao. Nixon thought it was too stingy, so Zhou Enlai immediately explained: Dahongpao produces 8 liang a year, and the Chairman gave you 4 liang, which means he has already given you half of China! The fact that such a brainless story can be widely circulated is itself a legend. When it was given to Nixon, there was also a pair of giant pandas! Nixon was angry about 4 liang of tea. Did he visit China to discuss human relations with China? Moreover, how could Zhou Enlai say such a cheap diplomatic rhetoric as "giving away half of China"? If such a thing really happened, this episode that insults the national prestige would have been banned long ago. How can it still be talked about in society?

There are also rumors that Dahongpao can help with bowel movements, cure stomach problems, cure bloating, and even cure cancer. What can I say? I'm not a doctor and I don't know whether it works or not. I can't refute it. Whoever wants to believe it can believe it!

The Dahongpao Scenic Area is located in the Jiulongke Grand Canyon, a deep and long valley controlled by an east-west fault structure, with nine jagged rock peaks like nine swimming dragons. The world-famous Wuyi rock tea Dahongpao grows on the cliffs on the north side of the Jiulongke Valley bottom, and has a history of 350 years.

Wuyishan Dahongpao is the most famous tea in Wuyishan, known as the "king of teas", and grows on a steep rock wall in Jiulongke. Follow the path in the mountains to find the mother tree of Wuyishan Dahongpao. There is a Zen temple after you pass Liuxiangjian. The tea culture here is very strong and you can see people tasting tea everywhere in the mountains.

After passing the Eagle's Beak Rock, the Water Curtain Cave is a little further ahead. You need to go uphill to climb the Water Curtain Cave. When I went there, it was the dry season and there was basically nothing to see. I heard that the water flow is very large from November to May.

I was quite disappointed to see the four ancient tea trees of Dahongpao that are said to be insured for 200 million yuan. The Dahongpao tea eggs, which cost 10 yuan for three, were really fragrant. Halfway through, they attracted three stray dogs to follow them, which made me panic. Fortunately, the tea picker in the scenic area helped me drink two of them back, and the remaining one was very persistent, so I finally gave it half.

The road to Dahongpao is full of tea leaves of all kinds. Wuyi Mountain tea is still very good! Personally, I don't recommend walking from Shuilian Cave to Dahongpao. It's too far and tiring. It's best to get to Dahongpao first, then take a sightseeing bus to Shuilian Cave, which can save a lot of walking! In addition, if you want to go directly from Dahongpao to the South Gate entrance, you need to take a sightseeing bus to Wuyi Palace first and then transfer to the South Gate.

People say that the purpose of coming to Dahongpao is to see the six Dahongpao mother trees on the Jiulongke cliff, but the scenery along the way is also quite good. From the cliff to the Jiulongjian scenery, you can't miss it.

The essence of the Dahongpao scenic area is to see these three centuries-old trees. It is said that the original "Dahongpao" refers to the three of them, so this tea is extremely precious. The Dahongpao transplanted later are all descendants of these three old trees. About the year before last, these three ancestors have been protected by the state. Picking is no longer allowed, and only viewing from a distance is allowed. They have become the spiritual symbol of Wuyi Mountain and even Fujian tea culture. Today's Dahongpao is a general term for a broad local type of oolong tea. They are no longer the same as the Dahongpao of the past in terms of variety and taste. After seeing Dahongpao, you can return to the scenic area by the same route and take the scenic area transportation bus, or you can walk along the rock bone flower fragrance slow tour path to the Water Curtain Cave Scenic Area. This 2.8 kilometers is definitely a straight-line distance, and the actual uphill and downhill walking must be much more than this number. They are all tea gardens. The furnace is too long. It takes an hour and a half to walk from Dahongpao to Shuiliandong. It's exhausting. But this place does have beautiful scenery.

This is the origin of Dahongpao. I didn't kneel down when I saw the originator. Haha, just kidding. Standing here, I can see tea everywhere at a glance, and the scenery is beautiful. It's really a blessing.

Legend has it that Dahongpao grew from seeds that cranes brought from Penglai Island and left on this cliff on Mount Wuyi. The emperor draped the red robe worn by the top scholar on the tea tree to express his gratitude, so the red robe dyed the tea tree red. There are three large vermilion characters "Dahongpao" on the cliff. Dahongpao has dense branches and leaves, and the leaf tips extend upward and obliquely. The leaves are wide and oval, with the tip drooping downward and the edges curling inward. The leaves are dark green and shiny, and if they are new buds, they are purple-red. Every early spring when the tea trees sprout, the whole tree looks bright red from a distance, as if it is wearing a red robe.

The least tiring attraction in Wuyi Mountain, it feels like walking in a primeval forest! The oxygen content is off the charts!

How can I put it? I can only say that I went there for the fame of Dahongpao. I just wanted to visit and see it.

In fact, the most beautiful part should be the path from Shuilian Cave to Dahongpao Scenic Area - along the bone tea fragrance. It takes us an hour and a half to walk the entire way (quite fast), but along the way there are fragrant tea gardens, green mountains and clear waters, as well as fast-flowing water and walking on wooden stakes. Very few tour groups will take tourists here, so there is a feeling of being the only one walking on this vast world.

The Dahongpao Scenic Area is full of tea trees, and the Wuyi Rock Tea is famous. Among them, there are three precious Dahongpao mother tea trees that grow on cliffs. They have a history of 300 years, absorbing rain and dew from heaven and earth every day, with sunshine time not exceeding 5 hours. Wuyi Mountain is the most famous scenic spot, the legendary origin of the best tea. Although it looks very ordinary from a distance, it is extremely popular. Although it is impossible to drink the tea from the mother tree, the Dahongpao series of tea is very good. The terrain is flat, suitable for a slow walk, and basically anyone can visit without any obstacles.

On the way to the ancient tea tree, there is a tea garden on one side and rocks and flowing water on the other side. When I saw the tea trees growing on the cliff, I was more interested in the Dahongpao tea eggs sold in the small shop opposite. They tasted good and cost 4 yuan each.

We ate three tea eggs under the Da Hong Pao mother tree. It is said that they were cooked with Da Hong Pao tea leaves. There was a hole on the tea eggs, which was full of flavor and had a good effect of replenishing physical strength.

The Dahongpao scenic area is located in the north of the main scenic area of ​​Wuyi Mountain, adjacent to the Shuiliandong scenic area. The main attraction here is the six Dahongpao mother trees that are hundreds of years old on the cliff. To be honest, there is nothing surprising from the appearance, but the value is unparalleled. In addition, there are some cliff carvings at the entrance, and there are streams and tea gardens along the way, that's all. The scenic area itself can be visited in less than half an hour. It is recommended to go up the steps inside and take the rock bone flower fragrance slow walking path to Shuiliandong. The scenery along the way is quite good!
