Dongshan Island

Dongshan Island is located in the south of Zhangzhou, Fujian. It is an Instagram-style island with beautiful scenery and simple folk customs. The scene of Little Ear crying to the sea in the movie "Left Ear" was filmed in Nanmen Bay on the island. Due to the popularity of the movie, Nanmen Bay has become one of the popular tourist attractions in Dongshan Island.

In addition, other scenic spots here also have their own characteristics. The iconic Wind-Moving Stone is also a place where you must take photos when you come to Dongshan Island. It is said that the Wind-Moving Stone will shake as long as the wind blows, as if it will fall down if you are not careful, which is very magical. Not far from the Wind-Moving Stone is a widow village, which is actually a museum. When the army withdrew from Dongshan Island, they took away the young and middle-aged people on the island, so the remaining women in the village became "widows". This museum shows the whole story of the incident, and some historical photos and reliefs also restore the history of that year in detail.

When you come to Dongshan Island, you can stay for a day or two, taste the local fresh seafood, experience the fun of fishermen catching fish and scooping nets, then go to the fine-sand beach to sunbathe, play in the water and waves in the sea breeze, and enjoy your seaside vacation.

“Wake up to the sound of the whistle, sleep with the waves as your pillow; sing with the sunrise, rest with the sunset.” This is exactly the portrayal of the daily life on Dongshan Island in my mind; perhaps it is also the slow life on the island that everyone yearns for!

Dongshan Island, which belongs to Dongshan County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, is the second largest island in Fujian. When I shared photos of Dongshan Island in my circle of friends, many people were not familiar with it and asked why it was different from the Zhangzhou, Fujian we knew. In fact, Dongshan Island is the border between Fujian and Guangdong. You can reach Dongshan Island after Shantou. We set off from Guangzhou, Guangdong, and drove on the highway for about 600 kilometers. The road conditions were excellent along the way, with little traffic, which was perfect for self-driving tours!

How many days does it take to visit Dongshan Island? You can visit all the attractions in two or three days, and it would not be too much to visit for a week or even a month. If you want to have a relaxing and comfortable time and the itinerary is just right, a week is just right! We stayed near the Fengdongshi Scenic Area and never changed our accommodation. The attractions near Fengdongshi can be reached on foot, and you can take an electric car to visit Tongling Town. As for Jinluan Bay, Maluan Bay, Sufeng Mountain and other attractions, although they cannot be reached on foot, it only takes about ten minutes to get there by car. I can even go back to the B&B wrapped in a towel to take a hot bath after soaking in the sea water in Jinluan Bay, and you will know how close and convenient it is.

Dongshan Island is the second largest island in Fujian Province, and belongs to Dongshan County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. It is suitable for people who yearn for the sea, because life on the island is very simple. It is very healing to watch the sea, eat seafood and drink wine with good friends every day. Live slowly and feel it carefully.

Went to Jinluan Bay, how should I describe it, the supporting facilities are the same as most low-end beaches, surrounded by some rip-offs, had a meal by the beach, a braised pomfret for 78 (see Figure 1), and a scallop soup with basically boiled water (too lazy to take pictures), a bowl of vegetables and oyster omelette, cost 170, and then a foot bath at the beach cost 2 yuan, there were too many people on the beach in August, and later we walked far away from the crowd. In fact, apart from the profiteers on the beach, the beach is still pretty.

I went to Dongshan Island again during the Dragon Boat Festival and spent a few days there. It was still as beautiful as before. I like the sea, any kind of sea. I feel it is so beautiful to go to the beach twice when I have nothing to do. Dongshan Island is really a place worth visiting. Some say it is a place more worth visiting than Gulangyu Island in Xiamen. The attractions here are pristine and naturally beautiful. It is not commercialized. The people on the island are simple and warm ❤️The accommodation is also beautiful. Like

Nanmen Bay on Dongshan Island is still worth a visit. The scenery is beautiful and the mood is pleasant. Don't rush and enjoy the slow time.

By Jiao Youyou |

At the end of Nanmen Bay is the Fengdongshi Scenic Area. After purchasing a ticket for 45 yuan, everyone can enter the scenic area for a tour.

By Bullfrog |

The most beautiful sea in Fujian, must recommend! Dongshan Island has simple folk customs, electric vehicles do not need to be locked, and the food is cheap and good!

By joy |

The filming location of the movie "Left Ear", macaron-colored bungalows, clean and gentle pristine beaches, and a refreshing breath... I fell in love with it💙

By .. |

The sea is very clean and emerald green. If you don't go there on holidays, there won't be many people. It's still suitable for a trip around the area.

To see the sea in Zhangzhou, you have to go to Dongshan Island. To get to Dongshan Island, you have to go to Sufengshan Ring Road to see the most beautiful sea view. Go to Maluan Bay for swimming in the afternoon, go to Nanmen Bay to watch the sunset in the evening, and go to Jinluan Bay to attend the bonfire party at night. In the early morning, go to the Manor Royal Sea in Jinluan Bay to watch the sunrise, and then go to Tongling Town to eat the local specialty "rice balls". There is also a seafood meal that cannot be missed, but eating seafood in Dongshan is not cheap. There are also 2 paid attractions: Fengdong Stone and Dongmen Island. There is also the newly developed Fishbone Sandbar. Have you been to them?

The sea water is so clear that it makes people excited. I love it~~

It's very interesting. The sunrise in Nanmen Bay is very beautiful. Maluan Bay is very lively in the afternoon, suitable for playing in the water, watching the sunset and barbecue. If you like tranquility, you must go to Jinluan Bay. In addition, Tongling Town, Maluan Bay, and Jinluan Bay all have shared electric vehicles, with a deposit of 199 and 5 yuan/half hour, which is very convenient and easy to refund the deposit.

Two days and three nights trip to Dongshan Island✈️The most beautiful sea, the most beautiful beach. The most unforgettable cultural interaction, thanks to the B&B landlord, I will come to Dongshan again when I have time. I love you Dongshan

By Photographer Peanut |

When you come to Dongshan Island, you can try to watch the sunrise, which can be seen on the main road under Sufeng Mountain. It is really a paradise for foodies, with all kinds of seafood to eat, and the price is really cheap. The people are simple and honest, and all kinds of seafood and dried goods are worth tasting. What is valuable is that it is located on the seaside, and the commercial atmosphere is not as heavy as Xiamen, and the scenery is also beautiful.

By What is sweet |

A place suitable for leisure and relaxation. The town is not big and the pace of life is slow, but the prices are high.

By Spring in Summer |

Dongshan Island is really beautiful, the sea water is very clear, the sky is very blue, the sea and sky are one color, it has a natural swimming pool, and there are various sea erosion wonders.

Oriental Maldives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By 李玲兒 |

Because it is close to home, I take my children there during the summer vacation. The scenery is very good and the sea water is very clear and clean when the tide is not high.

By Atang |

People on Zhihu read the introduction of the place, then excitedly went there for their honeymoon... and then nothing happened. There was a big difference between the buyer's show and the seller's show. To be honest, it was much inferior to the Goji Island in Zhejiang where I had been before. I brought my wedding dress with me and took a few photos.

In addition to visiting scenic spots and the beach, you can't miss the marine entertainment activities when you come to Dongshan Island. Diving, fishing, motorboats, and speedboats are all good. I especially recommend a famous local diving club - Haihai Diving Club

The customer service staff is very patient. The coach provides one-on-one guidance throughout the diving process. The diving coach is super nice.

It is famous for being the filming location of the movie "Left Ear". The sea is very blue and the sky is very beautiful. For those who have never seen the sea, it is recommended to go there in July and August. Best season: May to October is the best time to travel to Dongshan Island. August is the best because the fishing ban period is from late May to August 1. However, there are seafood to eat during the fishing ban period because there will be small fishing activities such as pulling mountain nets. There are all kinds of fresh seafood and southern Fujian specialties here, and the key is that they are cheap and large.

By The era of walking |

I know Dongshan Island mainly because of the movie "Left Ear". Dongshan Island, also known as Lingdao Island, is located in the southeast of Fujian Province, China. It belongs to Dongshan County under the jurisdiction of Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. It is the second largest island in Fujian Province. Dongshan Island is one of the famous scenic spots in Fujian Province. It has a vast bay, a flat beach, shady trees, and many scenic spots. It has the characteristics of southern coastal scenery. Dongshan Island was formerly known as Tongshan. The Tongshan Ancient City built in the Ming Dynasty still exists. It is located on the coast of Tongling Town. It was built to defend against Japanese pirates and its glory still exists today.

By Tiantian mango |

It is separated from Taiwan by a sea. The locals speak Minnan dialect. The sea is beautiful, comparable to the sea water in foreign countries, and the beach is also nice.

By Old wood ephedra |

A peaceful island. It seems that people here are still living a leisurely life watching the clock from 20 years ago.

By Hao Ming Hai |

The vast bay, gentle beach and shady trees here are full of southern coastal scenery. The sea, sky and mountains here add a bit of magical color to Dongshan Island.

By ying |

The water on the Dongshan side is really much clearer than that on Gulangyu Island.

By Alone with the wind |

I got to Dongshan Island because of the movie "Left Ear". To get to Dongshan Island from Beijing, you need to fly to Xiamen, take a train to Yunxiao, and take a bus to Tongling. The journey is a little bit of a hassle, but it's worth it! Very beautiful scenery, simple islanders, leisurely life, comfortable sea-view hotel, inexpensive consumption (there are seafood stalls everywhere), suitable for a family to stay for a few days. Recommended attractions: Nanming Academy, Ding Street, Nanmen Bay, Fengdong Stone, etc. (The ticket for Fengdong Stone Scenic Area is 60 yuan). I haven't been abroad much, and I think the beautiful scenery of Fengdong Stone Scenic Area is similar to that of Southeast Asia!

By Now |

The water of Dongshan Island is very clear, clearer than the sea in Xiamen, and there is not much garbage on the sea. From a distance, it looks a bit green and a bit blue, which reminds me of Phuket, an island with only blue. It’s just that the weather is too cold, so I can’t go into the water to play. Maybe it would be nice to come back in the summer with some regrets.

By Panda Brother |

Overall it was pretty good. I went there in the off-season. The small boutique hotel was a 1-minute walk from the beach. There were only two or three groups of guests, and it was very quiet.

Dongshan Island is a mature tourist area. You can easily find the famous seafood stalls in Nanmen Bay by navigating. Just a reminder, if you have been to Huangsha in Guangzhou, Shuitou in Shenzhen, Yantian and other places to eat seafood, don't be disappointed when you come here: because the scale is much smaller, and the price is not affordable, it can only be considered a little bit satisfying. Take my partner and I as an example, a crab, a plate of clams and a plate of vegetables, the bill is 225, I really don't recommend it, it's purely because I don't mind the price because I'm on vacation.

By Eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs 🐣 |

It's a beautiful place. The sea is very clean and you can eat big crabs in the food stalls around. The cat porridge and balanggan are both very good.

By Cat Xiaoke |

It was my first time to go to a hot spring, a seawater hot spring, but I forgot what it was called. I only remember that my classmates said that many people came from Xiamen specifically to take a hot spring bath. I didn’t want to leave after soaking in it for a night. . . .

Dongshan Island is the southernmost island in Fujian Province. It is only 110 nautical miles away from Taiwan. The two islands are closely connected and share a common belief - Guandi (General Guan Yu). This is also the main base for famous generals such as Qi Jiguang to fight against the Japanese pirates. The men here are brave and good at fighting, and they all have the fearless spirit of sacrificing their lives for the country. Therefore, there is a famous "Widow Village" here... and now, it is a national 4A-level scenic spot integrating tourism and marine aquaculture. However, I personally feel that it has not been developed well, and it should be better in the future!

A self-driving tour around Dongshan Island is like appreciating a long landscape composed of lake light, mountain shadows and clouds.

This road should have been newly built in the past one or two years. The original road was narrow and bumpy, and was only used by villagers in the mountains. Occasionally driving around the mountains was always dangerous. Although the current road is a two-lane road and not wide, the road surface is flat and follows the mountain terrain. The Taihu Lake is in full view.

Dongshan Island is a beautiful island. The sea water is not as blue as that of Maldives, but it is very pure. The waves are not so gentle, but you can still feel its restraint. It is not as good as watching the sunset on the plane, but it is still unforgettable. The seafood is cheap and you can eat it in two portions. I believe you will like it.

By Lemon |

Doesn't it look a bit small, similar to the Potala Palace, without the red and white walls, and without the grand temperament, haha.

By Water leaves no trace |

Sunshine, beach, waves... (this is one of the dirtiest beaches I've ever been to)

By Shirley |

As it gradually darkened in the evening, the colors of the sky and the sea were not so bright, but fortunately there was the sunset.

By All-in-one ink |

The fishermen catch and dry their own squid, cuttlefish, fish and other dried fish!!!

Especially the kelp, so crispy

I think one of the main features of Dongshan Island is the wavy seashore with these houses, which are crowded, high and low, densely packed, and each has its own characteristics. I call it the "Chinese version of the Love Coast" ~~

By winniesan |

Dongshan is a good place to go in the summer. This is the Royal Sea Manor, but there are not many water sports and it is too expensive.

By Wind |

Because I was in a hurry, I didn't bring a camera, so I took some photos with my phone. They were basically all scenery. Unfortunately, I'm not photogenic so there's no absolutely good-looking ones. There was only one photo that was actually badly taken, but it definitely felt pretty good.

The fishy smell is everywhere, the same smell as when you go to a seafood market. The houses on this island are rich, and they are built like small villas. There are cars parked in front of every house, reflecting the busy figures of fishermen.
