The scenic area is mainly composed of Hongkeng Tulou Group, Gaobei Tulou Group, Chuxi Tulou Group, Nanxi Tulou Group, Zhongchuan Ancient Village, etc.
There are various types of earth buildings, such as round buildings, square buildings, etc. There are more than 4,000 existing earth buildings, which are known as "a Chinese Hakka Earth Building Museum without a gate".
Yongding Tulou has various forms and a long history. The mountain dwelling architecture is unique, highlighting the ancient tradition of Hakka people living together in clans.

During the Lantern Festival, we went to Tulouwang. The most rustic 5A-level scenic spot. It is rustic because it is a Tulou. It is very unique. The present of history. The reenactment of Big Fish and Begonia. The ticket is 50 yuan. You must ask a local tour guide to explain or you will not understand it in a whole day. And you can beg the tour guide to take you to visit the upper floors. It was a good experience. The accommodation near the Tulou is very ordinary. But the Hakka beef ball soup with beef lung and mixed beef skin are super delicious! It is really good to embrace nature occasionally. It is recommended to arrive in the afternoon, visit first, have dinner and then take pictures of the night view. Find a hotel to stay in the local area and take a panoramic view from the observation deck early the next morning.
Yongding Tulou is located in Yongding District, Longyan City, Fujian Province. The oldest one is Fuxinlou, located in Xiazhai Village, Hulei Town, which is the earliest existing Tulou in Fujian. It was built in 769 AD and has a history of more than 1,200 years. Among the many Tulou, the most representative ones are Wufenglou, the large square building and the round building. Listening to the explanation of the Hakka people, I felt the wisdom of the Hakka people. The layout of the Tulou is reasonable and is the product of the perfect combination of man and nature.
Because of Big Fish and Begonia, I was particularly curious about this kind of circular building and wanted to see it with my own eyes, so I signed up for a one-day tour, and I felt it was worth seeing. At 9:30 pm the night before, the tour guide would call to inform the waiting location, time and license plate number. At 7:30 in the morning, we waited for the bus at Zengcuo'an at the scheduled time and started to set off. The bus was very spacious, but it was introduced that it would arrive in two hours, but for some reason it took three and a half hours to reach the destination. The female tour guide who introduced the scenic spot said that her family lived in Tulou No. 2 and married to another village. First look at No. 1 and No. 3, and finally refer to No. 2, and then you can go to her house to sit. Finally, I arrived at her house, which was a shop selling tea with an area of less than 20 square meters. Everyone was called in to sit and rest, eat ginger candy, and make some black tea and green tea for you to drink. The man asked you to smoke what was said to be local tobacco, saying that the boss was her husband and the tea was produced by himself. It was already past 12 noon and I was starving. The tour guide showed no intention of leaving, so I left on the pretext of going to the bathroom. Regardless of whether his excuse was true or not, it was good that there was no forced consumption.
The food in the scenic spot is very cheap, which is a great price for the Spring Festival. A big grapefruit is only 10 yuan. The appearance of the earth building is still very spectacular.
No one lives in the earth building anymore. The first floor is full of shops, many selling tea. We were not allowed to go upstairs. I took a panoramic photo for 10 yuan. I saw the square earth building and the round earth building.
I don’t remember in which earthen building I saw those little ceramic things, but I thought they were very interesting and adorable, and I liked them very much.
There was nothing interesting to see in the afternoon. After the group meal, we basically visited some places in a hurry.
Yongding Tulou is located in Yongding District, Longyan City, Fujian Province, on the southeast coast of China. Yongding is a pure Hakka county and the county with the most Tulou in Fujian, with a total of more than 23,000. It is a unique and magical mountain residential building in the world and a wonder of ancient Chinese architecture. In July 2008, it was successfully listed as a World Heritage Site. It has a long history, unique style, large scale and exquisite structure. Tulou is divided into square, round, pentagonal, octagonal, sun-shaped, Hui-shaped, stilted buildings and other internal shapes. There are 360 famous round buildings and more than 10,000 square buildings in Yongding District. Among them, the most famous Tulou are Chengqi Tower, the king of Fujian Tulou, Zhencheng Tower, the prince of Tulou, and Zhenfu Tower, the princess of Tulou. Among them, Chengqi Tower is the largest building among Fujian Tulou, and it entered the Guinness World Record of the Largest Tulou in 2010.
We went to the Tulou on our own. We took a minibus from Longyan to the Tulou. There was a small shop after we got off the bus. We could store our bags and buy return tickets there. Then the lady in the shop took many of us to the house next door. There was a map inside. She explained the route of the Tulou tour like a tour guide. Then the routine began. After explaining the strategy, she said that the scenic spots were far apart and could be taken for sightseeing by car. We were asked to choose the route. As a result, the five of us took the bus and only took two Tulou. He asked for 150 yuan each for two combined tickets of 50 yuan. He explained a few words at first, but then stopped explaining. He found out that we had seen through the scam and asked for paper tickets but he refused to give them to us. Then he turned his face away and gave us a fierce look. I still remember that the male driver was about 25 years old with a middle-parted hair and a handsome face. I didn't expect him to cheat outsiders like this. Don't be fooled. Pictures speak the truth.
Night tour of Tulou, 50/person. Including tour guide. You can also go upstairs (daytime ticket 50/person, without tour guide, you can't go upstairs). In fact, the tour guide is the owner of the building. Since you are in the Tulou, it is better to ask a tour guide to explain, so that you can better understand the profoundness of Hakka culture and Tulou history. Regarding Yongding Tulou, night tour of 2 Tulou, one Tulou King and one Qiaofulu (this is the one that Lin Zhiying went to in "Where Are We Going, Dad?") seems to be very cost-effective. The main thing is that you can go upstairs. During the day, there is a mountain road next to it where you can have a panoramic view of the Tulou King.
The combined ticket for the Tulou Prince scenic area is 90/person.
The battery car costs 6 yuan per trip, but it only runs 1 kilometer.
Just to the village entrance.
There will be many local villagers along the way who claim to be tour guides.
We can take you to visit the whole scenic area and give you explanations, the price range is from
20--60, but we finally chose to
I watch and take pictures slowly, I don't like others to wait by my side
Our feelings.
The earthen buildings are of square and round types, which are of course the most distinctive and worth visiting.
The most important thing to see is the circular earth building.
There are hundreds of earth buildings in the district, and most of them are still
Maintaining their original appearance and living function
Of course, some earth buildings are not open to the public.
Zhencheng Building is one of the representative earth buildings in Yongding. Aerial photography of Zhencheng Building shows that the building is commonly known as "Bagua Building" and is considered a fine Hakka round building. There is a two-story side room on each side of the building, which is half-moon-shaped and surrounded by a brick wall to form a courtyard. Looking at the side room from a high altitude, the side room and the round building are like a black gauze hat.
When I came to Fujian to check out scenic spots, I paid special attention to Tulou. I had seen the introduction of Tulou in many video promotional videos before. It was listed as a world cultural heritage. This time, I specially arranged a half-day visit here. I couldn't miss it. Fortunately, I caught up with good weather. Against the backdrop of blue sky and white clouds, the photos of Tulou were particularly spectacular. Yongding Tulou is located in Yongding District, Longyan City, southwest of Fujian Province. It is a wonderful piece of ancient Chinese architecture. The layout of Yongding Tulou's facilities has both the imprint of Suzhou gardens and the characteristics of ancient Greek architecture. It is a model of architecture that combines Chinese and Western styles.
The Yongding Tulou Group mainly includes Hongkeng Tulou Group, Gaobei Tulou Group, Chuxi Tulou Group, Nanxi Tulou Group, Zhongchuan Ancient Village, etc.
The most frequently visited are the Gaobei Tulou Group and the Hongkeng Tulou Group, mainly because these two were developed early, have complete facilities and convenient transportation, which also means they are more commercialized.
However, due to the epidemic, many shops are closed and there are few tourists. The commercial atmosphere of the Gaobei Tulou group has been greatly reduced. This is a happy thing for us ordinary tourists, but it is a heavy blow to the scenic spot.
There are four main earth buildings in Gaobei Tulou complex: Qiaofulu, Chengqiu, Shizeu and Wuyunu.
Among them, Wuyun Tower is a dangerous building and is no longer allowed to enter.
In addition to these four earth buildings, there is also an observation deck from which you can see the entire earth building complex from a high altitude.
Unfortunately, the tour guide said that we didn’t have enough time and didn’t let us go to the observation deck. In fact, I think the time was more than enough.
Writer Xu Huaizhong said: "Yongding Tulou is a period, but it leads to countless question marks and exclamation marks."
This is probably because the round building is the most distinctive building among the Yongding Tulou. Generally, it starts from a center of a circle and expands outward layer by layer according to different radii, like a period.
In ancient times, faced with the invasion of Japanese pirates from outside and years of civil war at home, the Han people from the Central Plains migrated with their entire families and traveled thousands of miles to a foreign land to build these earthen buildings. The architectural form of the earthen buildings is conducive to family reunions and can also defend against wars. One cannot help but admire the wisdom and courage of our ancestors!
The full name of Hongkeng Tulou Group is: Fujian Tulou Hakka Folk Culture Village. There are more than 30 Tulou of various types, including the most magnificent "Tulou Prince" Zhencheng Tower, the smallest "Mini Garden Tower" Rusheng Tower, the "Palace-style Square Tower" Kuiju Tower, the "Five-Phoenix Square Tower" Fuyu Tower, etc. It is a concentrated Hakka Tulou Museum.
I went to the Yongding Tulou, located in Longyan City, Fujian Province[2] on the southeast coast of China. It is a unique and magical mountain dwelling building in the world and a rare gem of Chinese ancient architecture. In July 2008, it was successfully listed as a World Heritage Site. It has a long history, unique style, large scale and exquisite structure. Tulou is divided into square and round types. There are 360 famous round buildings and more than 4,000 famous square buildings in Longyan area. In 1995, its architectural model and the Temple of Heaven in Beijing participated in the Los Angeles World Architecture Exhibition as a representative of China's northern and southern round buildings, causing a sensation and being hailed as the "Oriental Architecture Pearl". Hakka Tulou architecture shines with the wisdom of the Hakka people. It has multiple functions such as earthquake resistance, fire resistance and defense, good ventilation and lighting, and is warm in winter and cool in summer. Its structure also reflects the tradition of unity and friendship passed down from generation to generation by the Hakka people. Imagine hundreds of people living together in the same big house day and night. Living in harmony is of course very important. The simple and honest character of the Hakka people can also be seen here. As soon as you enter the earth building, you can immediately feel the deep sense of history and the gentle atmosphere. The layout of the facilities in the whole building has both the imprint of Suzhou gardens and the characteristics of ancient Greek architecture. It can be called a wonderful combination of Chinese and Western architecture. I still feel it afterwards. I will post photos and details when I have time.

Yongding Tulou is actually in Longyan. It takes more than 2 hours to drive from Xiamen. It is an important part, even the core part, of the World Heritage - Fujian Tulou.
A building, a city.
——Fujian Tulou. Known as the pearl of oriental architecture, Fujian Tulou is a wonder.
I know there will be a lot of fans of Big Fish and Begonia coming here specially, you will definitely not be disappointed
As a World Cultural Heritage project, the Yongding Tulou complex is not only scientific in architecture, but also rich in cultural heritage.
When traveling with a group, time is a bit tight, and the key is to see the buildings.
The Tulou complex is very spectacular. The scenic area charges are normal and is very suitable for self-driving tours. Because the scenic area is in the mountains, it is not very convenient to go from one scenic area to another. There are local motorcycles or black cars to go there. Personally, I feel that the charges for black cars are a bit expensive.
A very nice scenic spot, aerial photography is recommended for those interested in photography.
A Tulou carries an entire family! I feel that the people in the past were so great. Don't wear high heels when you go to the Tulou, the road is all cobblestones and it's not easy to walk.
There are four round and one square earthen buildings, which are jokingly called the Four Dishes and One Soup. I tasted the health-preserving tea here, and the black tea that Dong Qing named "Red Beauty", the sugarcane juice, red bananas, small pineapples, and super cheap passion fruit!
The main attraction is the four dishes and one soup of the Tulou, and those who like to see ancient buildings can go there.
I didn’t know about Tulou until I saw Big Fish and Begonia.
For those who have watched this movie, they are all looking for the shadow of the big fish...
The scale and grandeur are beyond imagination. It is a 5A scenic spot and is definitely worth a visit, although there are no other facilities around the earth building.
The earth building is very big, and the aerial photography of the roof is very good. If you like it, you can buy a photo as a souvenir.
I took a panoramic photo on the Tulou, which was great! Although I was very small, the whole Tulou was right behind me, which was very shocking.
The unique architectural style of the earth building has amazed the world's architectural community. Generations of Hakka people have lived and multiplied in this unique building. The first time I came into contact with earth buildings was a set of stamps of residential buildings a long time ago. One of the stamps was an earth building. At that time, I was wondering how there could be a round open-air house. After coming here and seeing it up close, I was really shocked.
When entering the scenic area, people usually go to the observation deck first, where you can watch the most famous "four dishes and one soup".
A lot of historical feeling can be seen in the earth building. Whether it is the peeling of the outer wall or the traces of disrepair, they all indicate the long history of the earth building. The beauty of the earth building lies in its depth and connotation. Tourists passing by can't help but sigh, and some local residents look at these excited tourists with strange eyes.
I went there as part of a one-day tour. Tulou is a family-style residence and defense building for the Hakka people. There are two types, square and round. The first is square and the second is round. I personally think Huaiyuan Tower is the most beautiful, but it's a pity that you can't go upstairs.
Gaobei Tulou Cluster, with Chengqi Tower, the "King of Tulou"
I signed up for the Tulou tour online one day in advance. I went to the Tulou for two reasons. First, I wanted to see the Hakka culture. Second, Big Fish and Begonia. The King of Tulou in Yongding – Chengqi Tower. The prototype of Big Fish and Begonia was for it. Because I couldn’t go upstairs, I couldn’t take panoramic photos.
The Tulou is far from downtown Xiamen, so I booked a small group tour to the Tulou on China-TravelNote. It was quite convenient. There are many stories about the Tulou. The tour guide gave us a brief introduction, but there was one thing that was quite surprising. I had always thought that Tulou was built and lived in casually, but the tour guide told us that the cost of building Tulou was very high, and ordinary people could not afford to live in it. Only the local tycoons had the financial resources to build it. Since the successful application of the Yongding Tulou for World Heritage, the local government has decided that all those who enter the Tulou with a group must follow the local tour guide in order to help local residents solve the employment problem. I personally feel that it is just so-so. They took us to the end of the Tulou and took us to a place to drink tea, which was actually selling tea. It took about 30 minutes to drink. I think it is better to stroll around the Tulou.
When I went there, two of the four earth buildings were under repair. Chengqi Tower is very big, but don't take photos and don't hire a tour guide, it's a rip-off. The viewing platform is not suitable for the elderly, you have to go up the mountain, which takes about ten minutes. If you are interested, you can try the grass jelly honey, it's quite delicious!
The Yongding Tulou combo ticket is 95 for adults and 70 for children, and includes Hongkeng (Zhencheng Building), Gaobei Tulou Group and Zhenfulou in Nanxi.
If you are not coming with a tour group, but like us, if you come here by yourself, it is best to hire a local's car. Not only can it take you directly to the entrance of each classic earth building, but it also saves you the unnecessary walking back and forth, because many of the earth buildings here are difficult for us to find. Only with the guidance of a local can it be more efficient and convenient.
I signed up for a one-day tour. There was a tour guide explaining the construction and structure of the earth building, but the guide's Mandarin was very poor and it sounded tiring. If you go to this scenic spot alone, it's not big. You need to pay the local elderly to go upstairs. It's very cheap. Some are 10 yuan, and some are 5 yuan. I spent 5 yuan to go upstairs for 3 people 😄. Find a place with fewer tourists to take pictures, and you can have some feelings. The small pineapple is very cheap, buy a little to try, and buy more if you like it. Every store sells Shaoxiancao water, 3 yuan a cup, I didn't drink it. The tour guide takes you to her house for tea, probably to sell tea, but it doesn't matter if you don't buy it.
Stop 128: Yongding Tulou, AAAAA. Ticket price is 90, no inspection required. Yongding Tulou is said to be a miracle hidden in the mountains of Fujian Province, and is passed down from generation to generation by the Hakka people. Nicknamed "Four Dishes and One Soup", it is divided into Tulou Prince, Tulou Princess, and Tulou King. Standing inside and looking up, it is like sitting in a well. Looking up, you can see a round sky, and the patio in the middle is like a basin. To be honest, Tulou is good in every way, but there are many mosquitoes, no toilets, and you have to walk a long way to urinate and defecate. I don’t know how the Hakka people solved diarrhea in those days. But overall, coming here, I feel its charm and the wisdom of the Chinese working people. It is worth the trip. [strong][strong][strong]
Yongding Tulou and Nanjing Tulou each have their own characteristics, and it is not enough to visit only one place.
After a long ride, the place was full of vendors and we were not allowed to go upstairs.
It's worth a visit. Although the mountain road is tortuous, you will be amazed by such a magnificent building.
Tulou has only one door for entering and exiting. Tulou with windows on the third floor or above is an ancient building. It is an architectural style formed by bandits at that time. It has very traditional characteristics.
The earthen buildings are very distinctive. It is rare for our country's architecture to be preserved for so long. It's just that there are too many people, too many, too many...
At that time, I lived near Xiamen University. I searched for a one-day tour online and contacted it one day in advance. The tour was picked up at the gate of Xiamen University. It took about 3 hours one way. On the way, I passed a shopping spot. The fruits and dried bananas sold there were pretty good. It is recommended to buy more food. You know the group lunch at noon. First, we visited the four dishes and one soup, which should be the most famous here. Then we went to the East and West Buildings. The supporting structure inside really lives up to its name, crooked. You can take pictures of the earth buildings during free time. As a foreigner, it is still worth a visit.
I went there originally for Xiamen, but was deeply impressed by the Tulou
The photo of Jimmy Lin taking a group photo with the crowd during the show "Where Are We Going, Dad?" is now hanging in the earthen building.
As for the Tulou, it is still worth a visit. After all, it is a world cultural heritage, so if time permits, it is recommended to take a day to come here and have a look.
Really, I was full of longing before entering.
It was a mess.
The first floor of Yongding is a storage room, the second floor is for the elderly and children, and the third floor is for young and middle-aged people.
If it is an inheritance, it is not divided into houses one by one.
It's divided from top to bottom.
Atmosphere~
The Yongding Tulou is very charming in the rain and fog, and the panoramic view from the top floor reminds me of Big Fish and Begonia.
It's nice to stand outside and walk around. There are too many people inside. You can go in and ask a tour guide to talk to you, and then take a look by yourself.
I really like this place. We stayed in the Four Dishes and One Soup Building that night. In fact, the conditions are average. We walked around the village during the day. I like it.
Tulou Folk Village, there are many people from the original village serving as tour guides at the entrance, ranging from 80 to 100 yuan, they will introduce the Tulou and recommend buying some tea, etc., but I don't recommend buying. There is a scenic bus after entering, about 2 kilometers to the Tulou, there is a larger round Tulou to see, and there are several square ones. Overall it is okay, but not as good as the largest Gaobei Tulou.
There are four buildings, one is the largest round earth building, one is square, one is a dangerous building, and one building that has produced many doctors is used for filming TV. It is very unique and worth the money to go upstairs to see~
Compared with Nanjing, I prefer the grandeur, diversity and standardization of Yongding Tulou. There is nothing wrong with commercialization itself, it just depends on how it is implemented.
It takes 3 hours to drive from downtown Xiamen. There is a unique residential building with a long history and unique style, but the commercial atmosphere is too strong...
You can't go upstairs in the earthen building, you can only walk around. If you are traveling independently, you can just eat whatever you want. It takes two hours to visit a scenic spot. The earthen building of Big Fish and Begonia is just on the side of the road. The Rusheng Building is not too big.
I heard that the building is built on the swamp, so if you jump on the ground, you can feel the ground shaking. I saw some tourists really jump hard, but there is no shaking, and of course it does not sink. The meaning of the distant building is to miss the relatives far away. In ancient times, there were lookout towers in the east, south, west and north of the top floor for guarding. In large earth buildings, there are often public places such as ancestral halls in the middle. The earthen buildings that are open to tourists now (from the perspective of the Huaiyuan Building) have rooms on the ground floor that are used for commercial transactions, the second floor is used as a warehouse and for storing sundries, and the rooms on the third and fourth floors are for residents. The rooms inside only have a bed, a cupboard, and a TV (the one I visited). The rooms are only for sleeping, and there are no toilets or kitchens. You have to go to the toilet and cook on the ground floor, and you can't All stoves are induction stoves. The main reason is that except for the outer wall of the earth building, the rest of the materials are all wood. In order to ensure that there are no candles, no fire can be made. In addition, there is no sewage system upstairs, so there can be no toilets or showers. These are all solved on the ground floor. Most of the uninhabited earth buildings will be ruined because no one lives there and no one will bury and repair them. The current owners of Qiaofu Building are four brothers. Two brothers are still abroad, and another is not in Fujian. Only one has returned to guard the earth building. Qiaofu Building means that they are all overseas Chinese. You may meet the big brother in the light-colored suit in the photo when you visit.
It takes 3 hours to drive from Xiamen. You can see many earth buildings along the way, some are square, some are round, and most of them are square. The scenic area is not big. A local guide took us into the scenic area and told us the history of earth buildings. There are Chengqi Building, which is known as the "King of Round Buildings", and Wuyun Building and Shize Building with a long history in the scenic area. The small pineapples sold in the scenic area are particularly sweet.
The Hongkeng Tulou Group is located in Hongkeng Village, Hukeng Town, Yongding District. This village is home to dozens of Tulou from various eras, dating back to the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty. The Lin family built a village here, and later dozens of Tulou were built one after another. The Tulou that are well preserved are mainly from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Among them, the representative works include Kuiju Building, Zhencheng Building, Rusheng Building, Fuyu Building, etc. At present, Hongkeng Tulou has more than 600 households and more than 2,000 residents. It is the largest Tulou group in Fujian. The Tulou has a long history and diverse styles, so it has become the epitome of Fujian Tulou. Fujian Tulou is mainly concentrated in Nanping and Yongding. The distance between the Tulou groups is far and the transportation is not convenient. We hitchhiked on the roadside of the Gaobei Tulou Group to no avail, and finally found a local motorcycle to Hongkeng. Hongkeng Village is located in a valley. Hakka earth buildings of different shapes and sizes built in different eras, as well as Lin's ancestral halls, temples, and schools are built along the stream. They are well-arranged and reasonably laid out, perfectly integrated with green mountains, green waters, village roads, small bridges, and countryside. The earth buildings in Hongkeng Village are Lin's residences. There are dozens of earth buildings of various types, including round earth buildings, square earth buildings, palace-style earth buildings, Wufeng-style earth buildings, and mansion-style earth buildings, built from the mid-16th century (Ming Dynasty) to the present. Walk slowly into Hongkeng Village along the winding stream and the tree-lined stone road. There are earth buildings of various shapes on both sides of the stream, many of which are still inhabited and used. Fujian earth buildings are large in scale, some of which are as high as more than ten meters, and it is difficult to shoot them at close range. The interior of the earth building is a messy place where groups live, and it is difficult to take satisfactory photos. In the process of touring Fujian Tulou, we also gradually found the way out, and tried to find the nearest earth slope or hilltop, so that the beauty of the earth building can be better reflected by shooting from a bird's-eye view. We found a dirt road going up the mountain on the innermost left side of Hongkeng Village. There was a sign on it saying that it was a private contract to open the road and had nothing to do with the scenic spot. There was a basket next to it and voluntarily gave some hard work fees. No one was watching, so we walked along the dirt road to the hillside. Looking around, the whole Hongkeng Village was along the stream. Square buildings and garden buildings were distributed along the stream. Trees were all over the village and the stream was winding. It was a pastoral landscape painting. After going down the mountain, we first went to Kuiju Building, the innermost part of the col. Kuiju Building is a very distinctive palace-style earth building. It was built in the 14th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty and has a three-hall and two-entry corridor structure. The entire earth building increases in sequence along the mountain. The inner courtyard is a small quadrangle composed of the ancestral hall corridor. The front hall is a double-story pavilion with a double-eaved hip roof, which is connected to the second-story waist of the back building. The entire roof rises in sequence and echoes back and forth.
It's a mature scenic spot, but the environment in the village seems messy, with many things for sale, so just take a quick look.
Blue sky, white clouds, fresh air, average public services
You can see 4 earth buildings in this place, and the best are in the king building. If you want to take popular photos, you need to spend 10 yuan to go to the second floor.
Just look at the largest one and appreciate the earth building culture. The other earth buildings are similar. The small pineapples in the scenic area are very sweet and worth trying.
The sky is round and the earth is square. I am impressed by such buildings.
The Fujian Tulou Yongding Scenic Area is one of the three world heritage sites and seven national 5A-level scenic spots in Fujian Province. The three groups and two buildings, namely Chuxi Tulou Group, Hongkeng Tulou Group, Gaobei Tulou Group, Yanxiang Tower and Zhenfulou, were included in the World Heritage List in July 2008.
I didn't feel particularly shocked when I watched it from the outside, but from the exterior to the inner circle, I was more amazed by the wisdom of the Hakka people at that time. There are 402 rooms in Chengqi Building, and people still live there. Tourists are not allowed to go upstairs, but the tour guide said that if you stay there for a two-day tour, you can still go upstairs, but it's not very convenient to live in the building. The one-day tour of the earth building really gave us a surprise. It's just that the time on the road is too long, and the Gaobei Yongding earth building we walked is only a part of the earth building complex. Nanjing Earth Building, Yunshui Yao, and Tasha Village are also popular routes for earth building tours. We also met tourists who took a two-day tour of the earth building during our trip. The two-day tour allows you to carefully watch and fully experience the earth building.
It takes 4 hours to get from Xiamen, and it is also the main attraction for one-day tours for tour groups.
Yongding Tulou is distributed in the southern part of Longyan. It is a rare gem of ancient Chinese architecture. It stands tall in the world of residential architecture with its long history, unique style, large scale and exquisite structure. Among them, the best preserved and most representative one is Zhencheng Building, which is located in Hongkeng Village, Hukeng Township. It was built in 1912 and covers an area of 5,000 square meters. It is a circular earth building. On the lintel of the hall is the inscription of President Li Yuanhong in the early years of the Republic of China. In April 1986, at the World Architecture Model Exhibition held in Los Angeles, the United States, Zhencheng Building was exhibited side by side with Lama Temple and the Great Wall. It attracted attention and caused a sensation. Yongding Tulou is a pearl of oriental civilization and a unique mythical mountain village residential building in the world.
On June 14, 2011, I visited the Gaobei Tulou in Yongding, Fujian, including Chengqi Tower, Qiaofulu, Shize Tower, Wuyun Tower, etc.
The scenic area is well preserved and the architecture is unique. It is worthy of being a world cultural heritage and is worth a visit.
Fujian Tulou Yongding Scenic Area, June 5, 2011, Yongding.
There are tourist attractions with Fujian local characteristics. I went with a one-day tour group, which was very convenient. There were appropriate and reasonable shopping arrangements, but no compulsory purchases. If you go by yourself, you may need to stay overnight due to transportation.
The ticket price for Yongding Tulou is 50 yuan, and it is free at night. Don’t believe the local elders who say there is a fee, they are all scammers. Be sure to find a regular ticket seller and explanation center.
Yongding Hakka culture must be recommended and must go
There are three routes to visit Tulou from Xiamen, one is Yongding Gaobei Scenic Area, one is Zhangzhou Yunshuiyao Scenic Area, and one is Tianluokeng Scenic Area. Among them, Gaobei is famous for the Tulou King, and it is also the filming location of Big Fish and Begonia.
[Location] It should be in Yongding, Longyan, Fujian. It takes about two hours to drive from Xiamen on the highway, or you have to take a train and then charter a car. The tour guide said that there are buses between scenic spots, but you still need to transfer, so it doesn’t feel very convenient to come here to play by yourself.
[Ticket] Full price is 50 yuan, and students and seniors can get half price of 25 yuan.
[Scenery] Following the tour guide, we saw three buildings, Qiaofu Building, Wangchengqi Building, the prototype of Big Fish and Begonia, and the square Shize Building. There is also a Wuyun Building on the side of the road, but the tour guide said it is not open now. It was a fresh experience for me to visit a Tulou for the first time, but basically all Tulou are similar. I can see the largest and square one here, which is still okay. It's a pity that I can't go up_(:з」∠)_
When talking about Fujian Tulou, many people may think of the following scene: four circular buildings surrounding a square building - this is the Tianluokeng Tulou group in Nanjing. Its unique shape is nicknamed "four dishes and one soup" by people, and it is often used as the image of Fujian's classic Tulou. A famous Chinese architect even wrote a poem to describe it: "Looking down, it looks like a flower, and looking from the side, it looks like the Potala Palace."
There are many ways to play in Tianluokeng. You can look down, look straight, or look up. Each angle has its own merits, and it can be said to be 360 degrees without blind spots. The most classic viewing point should be the viewing platform on the mountain. Standing there, you can overlook the whole picture of "four dishes and one soup". There are signs for the viewing platform along the road in the scenic area, just follow them.
However, the interior of the earthen buildings is basically commercialized, with stalls selling things on the first floor and some upstairs providing accommodation.
Fujian Tulou is a world heritage site, so it's worth a visit if you haven't seen it. I personally think leaving early and returning late is enough for one day.
We booked a local tour on a travel website: 238/person, round trip from Xiamen, visiting Yongding and Yunshuiyao. The tour guides were all local Hakkas, the service was good, and it was pure fun without shopping. However, it is inevitable that individual tourists will have to change cars and wait for people when joining a group.
In this scenic area, there are Chengqi Building, known as the "King of Earth Buildings", Wuyun Building, Shize Building, and Qiaofu Building, known as the "Doctor's Building", and other earth buildings. The earth buildings are integrated with nature, presenting a wonderful pastoral scenery. Chengqi Building was built by Jiang Jicheng, the 15th ancestor of the Jiang family. It took 81 years to complete in the 47th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1708). It has more than 400 rooms and is the round building with the most circles and rooms. There are 4 rings inside and outside, which are high outside and low inside, and the rings are nested. There are many passages inside. Entering the building is like entering a maze, making it difficult to tell the directions. At its peak, more than 80 households and more than 600 people lived here, all of whom were from the same clan.
