Haitan Island, also known as Pingtan Island, is the largest island in Fujian and the sixth largest island in my country. It is known as the "County of Thousand Reef Islands".
The island has a winding coastline of about 408 kilometers, of which more than 100 kilometers are high-quality sandy beaches.
The main attractions on the island include Sanshiliujiao Lake, Shipaiyang Reef, Xianrenjing and Haitan Tianshen, as well as Longfengtou Resort and Tannan Bay Beach.
In addition, the stone houses on the island are also a major feature. They show a unique flavor and are a must-see for tourists.

Pingtan is a popular tourist island, with Blue Tears and 68 Nautical Miles as its main attractions. But after visiting, I felt that it was not that worth looking forward to. The popular Beigang Village is full of homestays and travel groups, and I don’t want to join in the fun during the Blue Tears season. Most importantly, when I went there, the sea water was yellow, and I was not in a happy and relaxing mood for a vacation. So, it’s okay to visit Xianrenjing and 68 Nautical Miles if you have the chance.
A very nice island, the fifth largest island in China, with convenient public transportation, moderately priced food and beverages, and staying at Zhongtian Hotel. My travel notes have detailed introduction.
The reason why the service rating is not five stars is that there are more self-service parts on the island, and almost all the attractions are free. Although the yellow danger line is clearly drawn, our scenic area security personnel just quietly watch you enjoy taking pictures and will not drive you away. Tourists are naturally very conscious. Although they cross the yellow line, they will not take half a step too much and are very careful to ensure their own safety. Some people may think that the security personnel are irresponsible, but I think it gives tourists more room for self-management. After all, they are all adults. Being reminded by others to pay attention to safety and be careful of falling into the water is for children.
On the first day, we went directly from Fuzhou to Pingtan Island, thinking of enjoying the sea breeze and eating seafood. Fortunately, after a series of rainy days, the weather was very good and warm. Pingtan County belongs to Fuzhou and is known as the "County of Thousand Reef Islands". It is a famous fishing base. Pingtan Island is located in Pingtan County. It is the fifth largest island in China, the largest island in Fujian Province, and the closest place to Taiwan on the mainland. It was my first time here. I felt that the island was not overly commercialized. Many places still retain their original flavor. The biggest impression was that the beach was fine and clean. If it was not winter, I really had to go into the water to step on it.
Pingtan Island has endless scenery and is worth a visit. The sea water is pure and blue, and the beach is wide. There is a glass plank road. The big windmill and stamp photo frame can take beautiful photos. There are also many homestays here that are stone houses. Come here in summer to enjoy the blue tears.
[Highlights]
1. On the ring road of Pingtan, there is a big sign that says "Build Taiwan's Second Living Circle". There are many volunteers and shop owners on the island from Taiwan. I haven't heard the word volunteer for many years. I didn't expect to experience the volunteer atmosphere in Pingtan all of a sudden. The "Windy" convenience store downstairs of the homestay, there is always only the cat "Kelp" guarding the door during the day. When you push the door in, you either concentrate on eating McDonald's or just raise your eyes and glance at you, and then continue to doze off. In the middle of the night, the gatekeeper of the convenience store finally came. He caught us and said, "Please help look at the kelp", and then the person disappeared again. As a result, we didn't keep the kelp, and ran to the homestay on the mountain to catch frogs. It turned out to be a night owl. Only in the early morning, the convenience store will be lively. The volunteers guarded the convenience store and waited for the blue tears, and chatted by the way. When they were happy, they directly recognized their ancestral home and gave us two postcards. By the way, they also taught us how to use the payment machine and planned to let us buy it by ourselves in the future.
2. Pingtan's Ring Road is really like a TV drama. It is backed by mountains on one side and faces the sea on the other. You can travel freely as you like with a small electric donkey. Seafood barbecue can be seen everywhere. The smell of the sea lingers from the moment you enter the village. The best means of transportation on the Ring Road is a small electric donkey, which can be seen everywhere, and you can go wherever you want. There are many wild beauties on Pingtan Island. If you drive by yourself, you will definitely not be able to do whatever you want. However, the small electric donkey is different. When you see any beautiful scenery you want, you can go up the mountain and down the sea as soon as the car stops. It is really convenient.
3. Many people come to Pingtan to chase tears. I heard that blue tears usually appear continuously. The day before we arrived, Pingtan had an outbreak of blue tears. I also heard that the pinker the sea water is during the day, the stronger the fishy smell, and the greater the chance of seeing blue tears at night. I think it's true. When we arrived, the sea water was really pink, visible to the naked eye, which made us very excited and felt that we would definitely succeed. Of course, blue tears really broke out at night. The crappy Apple phone can't take pictures of the night scene. The blue tears downstairs of the homestay are very large. They are the kind that will stick to your legs and shine. They will glow when you kick up water, and there will be dots of blue light when you step on the beach. Apple can't take pictures of the night scene, so I can only leave it to you to experience it for yourself.
[Accommodation recommendation]
Living in Tanshui Village is better than Beigang Village and Jingsha Village. In Tanshui Village, you can go downstairs to Guanlei Point, Black Sand Beach, sunset, and windmills. You don’t have to worry about being remote at night. There are seafood barbecue stalls. Although Beigang Village was developed the earliest and most complete, it lacks some charm. Jingsha Village is far from the sea and not lively enough.
[Tips]
1. The temperature difference at the seaside is huge, especially in the middle of the night. It is really cold, so bring a coat to block the sun and wind.
2. Slippers are a must, as they are very convenient for going into the water and on the beach.
3. You can rely on electric scooters for travel, and the "Minyun Yixing" mini program for long-distance travel. This government project is safe and reliable. You can book a car directly on the mini program, and you don’t have to wait for people for point-to-point pick-up. It is especially convenient to go to the high-speed railway station.
Fujian's largest island is very suitable for everyone to visit
The scenery is beautiful, but the service facilities are not up to par
Pingtan Island has a beach, a windmill, and a nice beach. But it was raining when I went there, so I didn't have a good time.
It is recommended to rent a donkey for cycling in Pingtan. It is convenient and there are beautiful scenery wherever you go.
Pingtan Island is the name of an archipelago. The most developed one is Haitan Island, which looks like a jar from a bird's eye view. The cost of development is not small, but it has developed well because of Taiwan. There are beaches and old towns.
There were not many people at Pingtan Longfengtou Beach when we went there, but there was indeed a problem of garbage on the beach. Waves washed the garbage onto the distant beach, and it was usually not captured in photos, which was quite heartbreaking. Then there was Beigang Village, a very literary photo spot, where you can see many islands and beautiful scenery. It is not very commercial, and there are not many specialty shops.
The sea water is quite clear, the sand is very fine, the children have a lot of fun playing
Pingtan Island is full of stone houses, which are not easily eroded by sea breeze and seawater. Now these stone houses are also a landscape feature. Pingtan Island is not big. Driving a small electric motorcycle along the beach and feeling the sea breeze makes you feel very happy.
Want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city? Get away from the crowds? Enjoy a wonderful world for two? Come to Pingtan Island in Fujian. Make a good plan and make a date with your loved one. It will be worth the trip! Must-bring items!!! To make it easier for everyone to make a plan, I have written down all the things you need to pay attention to here. Must-bring items! Sunscreen spf50+ waterproof and sweat-proof (tanning is certain, but sunburn is too uncomfortable), thin and breathable jacket (mainly for sun protection and temperature difference) rubber band for tying hair, pay attention! (A must for girls with long hair. If it’s windy, you must tie your hair up, unless you want your beautiful and lovely girlfriend to experience what it means to be messy in the wind. It’s best to have a few strands of hair to prevent them from being lost, because it looks good to take pictures with your hair down (▔,▔)) A hat with a strap, or a hat that won’t be blown off by the wind when worn on the head (first, you need to ride an electric bike, and second, the seaside is windy) Sunglasses (to improve the quality of photos, sun protection, and the old-fashioned wind protection) A waterproof bag for your phone (not because you’re afraid that your phone will drop into the water, but just so you can raise your phone to take pictures when you see the beautiful scenery) Food (buy some portable and filling food before playing, this is only for those cute girls who don’t want to go to tourist attractions or the city) Tips: When we went out, we bought food in town and brought it with us. My brother disliked the small cake I bought and insisted on eating seafood. Later he said that the best food was the melon seeds in that restaurant, em… Rent an electric bike (it’s very convenient to stop and go, and when the temperature is high, you will thank yourself for being smart) Mosquito repellent (written in other people’s guides, mainly for those who want to camp and sleep in tents)
The area of Pingtan Island in Fuzhou is much larger than I thought (it is said to be as big as Xiamen)
In the evening, the mist unfolds a blue ink painting... Pingtan, which became popular because of the movie "Where Are We Going, Dad?", is more beautiful than expected...
The beach of Haitan Island is very white and fine. The wind brings the white and fine sand, and the waves also bring bottles and cans and other household garbage. #Traveling is to feel everything that is different from me.
Pingtan County, commonly known as Haitan, is located in the eastern part of Fujian Province. It is the closest place to Taiwan Island from the mainland. It consists of 126 islands, mainly Haitan Island. The main island, Haitan Island, is also a famous fishing base.
Most of the houses in the village are still stone houses. Stone houses are a feature of Pingtan. The whole village is quite different in height, and the houses are not high, so basically every household can see the sea at home. "Facing the sea, spring flowers blooming" is probably like this! I heard from my grandfather that the island has developed a tourism industry, and the villagers have outsourced their homestays to an outside team for management, so if you come to play, you don’t have to worry about food and accommodation. There is also a famous attraction on the island, Baijiao Bay. If you are interested, it is recommended that you can play on the island for two days. If you have time, you can stay for a few more days to experience a pastoral life without car exhaust, bright lights, and industrial noise.
In summary, Pingtan Island is a place I would like to visit a second time. The pace of life there is very slow, and I also like the stop-and-go travel style. It is suitable for a leisurely vacation there.
Now there are more people who come here because of its reputation. At present, the development of tourism facilities is not very perfect. It is recommended to stay for two or three days to watch the sunrise in the morning and the sunset in the evening to experience the rhythm of slow life. It is strongly recommended to rent a car in Fuzhou to go to Pingtan Island. If you drive by yourself, it takes about 15 minutes from Pingtan city to the scenic spot, and parking is free in the scenic spot. The scenic spots in the north of Pingtan Island are really scattered. If you want to play here and you don’t have a car, you can sign up for a group in the city. If you go there by yourself, it really takes time and money. If you can’t come back, you are afraid of black car extortion. From Fuzhou city to Pingtan Island, you can take a direct bus at the bus station in Taijiang District, Fuzhou City, 53 yuan/person, the journey is about one and a half hours, and the last bus is at 19:30. If you go directly to Pingtan from other provinces and cities, you can take the high-speed rail to [Fuqing Station]. After exiting the station, there is a bus to Pingtan on the left hand side, 23 yuan/person, about 50 minutes of driving, and the last bus is at 18:05. If you come by flight, there is a bus from Changle Airport to Pingtan, 50 yuan per person, the journey takes about two hours, and the last bus is at 22:30. Emphasize the key points: 1. It is recommended to rent a car in Fuzhou or Fuqing to go to Pingtan Island. 2. Didi taxi app is very convenient on the island, but it is recommended to leave the driver's phone number to avoid the embarrassment of not being able to get a car when you come back. 3. There are no shared bicycles on the island. 4. If you take a boat, just get on the boat first and buy the ticket later.
The benefit of this trip is that I know Pingtan Island is a good choice if I want to go to the beach next time. But one thing must be noted, there are many typhoons in summer. According to the description of the B&B owner, "three of the eight weeks of the tourist season last year were affected by typhoons."
The biggest feature of the beach on Pingtan Island is that the sand is very fine, and you can lie on it without any discomfort. The sand is also very white. The sand on the shore that has been dried by the sun is almost milky white, which is very beautiful. In addition, the beach on Pingtan Island is very flat and very open, which is also suitable for beach volleyball, frisbee throwing and other entertainment activities.
In general, Pingtan Island is not very popular, perhaps because it is the off-season now, but the urban area is still quite lively, with motorcycles being the most common things, and it really feels like a small Taiwan.
When we arrived at Pingtan Island, the weather was really good and the scenery was beautiful. People say that Pingtan Island is the Mediterranean Sea of China, and it really looks like it from some angles. The stones on the island can produce different melodies when played, and many musicians use them as instruments to play beautiful melodies. Pingtan Island also has another most famous landscape: blue tears, which only appear in summer, so I'll keep it in mind and find a chance to go there again.
Is anyone going there during the Spring Festival? It would be convenient if we rent a car together.
Pingtan's cold winds raged along the coast in winter, and there was no one around. The beach was occupied by strong winds and big waves, which was Pingtan's first greeting to us. As soon as we got off the car, my companions got back into the car in the blink of an eye, took out their scarves and put them on their heads, and then dared to run towards the beach. The tent restaurants, stalls, tables and chairs on the beach were all there, but no one was there. We vaguely felt the hustle and bustle of the peak season. After staying there for more than ten minutes, we had a headache from the sea breeze.
Pingtan has developed very fast in recent years. The transportation is much more convenient than before, but the public service is still lacking. It is very hot at noon in summer, but it is better in the evening. It is not too cold in winter. The typhoon season is relatively long. The island is windy all year round. It is beautiful to take pictures on sunny days without wind! Of course, you must take good sunscreen, and you will get tanned on cloudy days. There are a lot of seafood, but there are few hotels that cook delicious seafood. It is recommended to buy it and cook it yourself. The county town is small, but it has everything. Now because of the popularity of "Where Are We Going, Dad", the number of tourists coming to play has increased, and the accommodation fee in the county town has risen sharply. Many small islands have not been developed. Generally speaking, it is a livable city.
Pingtan Island is large in area, with many scenic spots and a long coastline. It is recommended to travel by car. There are also several small islands around Pingtan, such as Dongxiang Island, Dongjia Island, Tangyu Island, etc., which are all good places with few people and beautiful scenery. The best travel season: May-October, the weather is relatively hot, suitable for playing in the sea.
If you go there at this time, you will really be blown silly by the wind... I rented a small electric bike last night and planned to ride it to watch the sunrise today... I had to return it in less than half an hour... The wind was so strong that I couldn't stand it. When I went to wait for the bus today... I felt like the door was going to be blown away when I opened it. In fact, the scenery on the road is still good~ If the sun is shining and the breeze is not dry... If it is windy and cloudy like today, I suggest not going
Pingtan Island has the most beautiful beaches and the most fun rocky beaches I have ever seen.
The sea in Pingtan is very beautiful and the water is very clear, but the rest of the scenery is average.
The wind is strong at the beach. There are scenic spots everywhere, so you don't have to squeeze in with everyone to take pictures.
There are fewer people and cars, so you must go on a sunny day. You won’t be able to see the beautiful scenery if you go on a cloudy day.
Located in Pingtan County, Fujian Province, it is the main island of Pingtan County, 128 kilometers away from Fuzhou. It is only 68 nautical miles away from Hsinchu Port in Taiwan Province to the east, making it the closest point to Taiwan from the Chinese mainland.
Pingtan is really super beautiful. It may be a bit tiring to ride a bike, so motorbike or self-driving are both good choices. Even the locals think it is super beautiful in summer, but Chinese people still think it is windy in winter. It depends on where you compare it with. Fortunately, if you go there wearing light clothes, you have to wait until spring for the water to be not really cold.
Haitan Island is also known as Pingtan Island
Known as the Santorini of the East
It is the closest place to Taiwan in mainland China.
Possessing beautiful ocean "blue tears"
We are now working hard to build an international tourist island.
While many places are shrouded in smog, Pingtan Island always maintains its unique fresh air and beautiful scenery.
The stone houses here are the crystallization of the wisdom of the islanders coexisting with nature.
Living in a seaside inn on the island, the first ray of sunlight from the sunrise shines into the room through the window. The plants on the windowsill are unrestrainedly enjoying the warmth brought by the sun. The trees are swaying with the sea breeze. The birds on the sea level fly over the sea, leaving a beautiful arc.
Listening to the sea breeze at night is like a lullaby and I slowly fall asleep
In Pingtan, you can enjoy the fresh air and the warmth of the sun on your shoulders.
The people in the village work hard and make a living by fishing. Besides going out to sea to fish, they have to clean the fishing nets. They sit on both sides of the road and sort them carefully over and over again. There are also cats and dogs around them to keep them company.
Work from sunrise to sunset, day after day, always the same
There are also flowers on Pingtan Island. Although no flower lasts forever, the flowers here seem to have absorbed the holy water sprinkled by God and become everlasting flowers that never wither.
Pingtan and Taiwan are across the sea. You can reach the beautiful island of Taiwan by taking a ferry at the pier. In order to bring people on both sides of the strait closer and strengthen cooperation, the government has specially established the Taiwan Entrepreneurship Park in Pingtan. There are many supporting policies to support the development of Taiwan.
Pingtan’s food and the legends behind it also made me linger.
The fresh and delicious seafood on the island is so tender that it melts in your mouth. It does not require any complicated processing steps. You only need to blanch it in water and eat it directly. It is so fresh that it is beyond words.
There are also the "Good Luck Eight Treasures Fried Cake" and other dishes that I will never forget.
Pingtan Island is really a treasure land. It has rich natural resources, fine sand that can make fine glass, and a blue sea where you can enjoy marine activities in summer.
Pingtan is an important participant in the Silk Road, but due to the large number of reefs, many merchant ships have run aground again. Going deep into the seabed, you can also explore the secrets of the seabed here.
I look forward to Pingtan completing the construction of an international tourist island and setting foot on this beautiful island again (click here to view my travel notes on Pingtan Island~)
Most of the island still retains the original ecological environment of the island, with fresh air mixed with bursts of sea smell; the sea water is clear and blue; the people are simple and warm. The most impressive thing is the island's unique snack---xian fang (pronounced in Pingtan local dialect: gīan fī), which is filled with shrimp, crab meat, clam meat, cabbage, and local pickles, seasoned with fish sauce, soy sauce, etc., and then wrapped in batter made of sweet potato flour and steamed. Take a bite, the chewy and soft skin with the salty and fresh filling is endless aftertaste...
It is also called Pingtan Island and Lan Island. It is the largest island in Fujian and the fifth largest island in China. There are many scenic spots on the island, and there are also many small islands. The main scenic spots include Tannan Bay, Jiangjun Mountain (ticket 10 yuan), Xianrenjing (ticket 15 yuan), shipbreaking yard, Haiyu Square, sand sculpture park (ticket 50 yuan), Haitan Ancient City, Shipaiyang (boat ticket 25 + ticket 20 yuan), big windmill, Nanzhai Mountain (10 yuan), Sanshiliujiao Lake, Tangyu Island-see Haitan Tianshen (ticket 20 yuan), Dongxiang Island, Dalian Island, and of course the uninhabited island Dongjia Island.
Pingtan Island is full of rocks and surrounded by the sea, with strong winds and waves all year round. Ordinary building materials simply cannot withstand the "torsion". Therefore, the people of Pingtan used local materials and the abundant granite on the island as building materials.
Pingtan Island. The island is 29 kilometers long from north to south and 19 kilometers wide from east to west. Known as the "County of Thousand Reef Islands", the county consists of 126 islands and 702 reefs. It is the sixth largest island in China and the largest island in Fujian. The island is often "filled with mist from the east", referred to as "Lan", also known as "Donglan", and formerly known as "Haishan".
Take photos of Pingtan Island's broken boats and rotten wood, then visit the distinctive stone houses in Pingtan, Fujian.
I have been to Pingtan quite often because I have another island owner’s wife, the beautiful lady Shazi. It was another refreshing trip to Pingtan.
This fine sand beach is blown by the sea breeze like waves.
Looking out into the distance, the entire beach is crescent-shaped, but there are no tourists except me.
The waves hit the beach, creating waves.
The wind on the island was very strong. The people on the island told us that the wind started to blow today, so we couldn't use the tent we brought with us, so we rented a cabin for 200 yuan per room during non-weekends and non-peak seasons. It was a very unique and clean small building, just like a seaside holiday home.
We walked along the beach, the strong winds whipped up waves hitting the beach, one wave after another, and a fierce sonata sounded. It turned out that this was the sound of the waves...
The three major seaside beaches of Changjiangao, Haitan Bay and Tannan Bay on the north, east and south sides of Pingtan Island have fine white sand and clear blue water, which meet the regulations and requirements for seaside tourist beaches. They are also large in area and interconnected, with lush protective forest belts behind them and islands and reefs on the sea, with good combination conditions and good bay orientation.
A small pirate with nice scenery, but it seems that it has not been developed much, and the supporting facilities are really not up to date. . It is still okay to just go there to see the scenery and blow the sea breeze.
Haitan Island is also called Pingtan Island. The main purpose of coming to Pingtan Island is to see the stone houses. "Pingtan Island only grows stones but no grass, sand and dust are everywhere, and the houses are like bunkers." Pingtan residents use local materials to build houses with stones. They are stable and wind-resistant, but I don't know how it feels to live in them! Walk along the path beside the village to the high ground on the east side of the village, overlooking the entire Baisha Village. The clustered stone houses will give people more beauty. The branches are sprouting new buds, which make this heavy and stable stone castle look more vibrant. The smoke from cooking rises, and in the drizzle and stone-covered Baisha Village, the breath of life is highlighted.
