Hanging Wall Great Wall

The Hanging Wall Great Wall is located on the northern slope of Heishan Mountain on the north side of Shiguan Gorge, 8 kilometers north of Jiayuguan Pass. It was built in the Ming Dynasty.
The theme here is the ancient Silk Road culture and the Great Wall culture, and the Ancient Silk Road Cultural Corridor runs through the entire scenic area.
The scenic area is divided into four functional areas, namely the Shiguanxia Ancient Silk Road Cultural Corridor Area, the Hanging Wall Great Wall Military Defense System Area, the Leisure and Resort Area, and the Management Area.
The flat parts of the Great Wall are like walking on flat ground, and the steep parts are like climbing a cliff, which is quite similar to the Badaling Great Wall. From the Great Wall, you can see the vast scenery outside the Great Wall.

I don't know why we have to climb the Great Wall in the middle of the day and get hit on the head by a mound. You can come to Jiayuguan and charter a car. It feels cheaper than online. Although it's called a charter car, our driver hired two groups of people in one day and talked about his personal affairs all the way. The experience was average. My first impression is that the comfort of traveling in the Northwest is still related to the charter driver. It's fate to meet a good charter driver. My second impression is that the Northwest is still suitable for chartering a large loop tour without being restricted by the time of high-speed rail and plane.

The most famous attractions of Jiayuguan are the Guancheng and the Ming Great Wall and its westernmost starting point. Visit Guancheng in the off-season and take a slow walk. The buildings in the city are exquisite and majestic. Outside the city, there is a vast Gobi Desert and a barren land, which immediately shows the desolate feeling of "no friends after leaving Yangguan to the west". After visiting the first pier of the Great Wall and the ruins of the hanging wall Great Wall, return to Guancheng and look at the tall and mighty sculptures of generals. When you savor them carefully, the images of iron horses and business camel caravans will naturally appear in your mind alternately. The prosperous business and trade must be guaranteed by a strong military force to escort it, which has been the case from ancient times to the present.

I rented a mountain bike from the youth hostel and set off happily. I rode for about half an hour. I started from the youth hostel at the north gate of the Guancheng Scenic Area. It was quite shocking. It is the crystallization of the wisdom of the ancient working people. Although it has been restored now, it is basically invisible to the ancient appearance. By the way, if you buy tickets for the Jiayuguan Guancheng Scenic Area, there will be a combined ticket including the cantilever Great Wall

Since we are already in Jiayuguan, the city of Jiayuguan is very small, so you can just take a taxi to the Jiayuguan scenic area, which is also very cheap. The taxi driver took me around and introduced me along the way. The ancients were very powerful. The end of the Great Wall. Slowly shocking. Standing under the Great Wall, thinking about the scene of the ancients building the Great Wall, I was moved. When I went there, there were only me and the driver in the huge scenic area, and it was very quiet.

The cantilevered Great Wall is located in the north of Jiayuguan City. It and the Broken Wall Great Wall opposite it jointly guard the Shiguan Gorge and jointly control this important passage to the Western Regions.

Standing at the highest point of the cantilevered Great Wall and looking into the distance, I suddenly heard the sound of gunfire. Looking into the distance at the wasteland, I saw a guard troop stationed there, conducting target practice.

At the foot of the cantilevered Great Wall stands a group of sculptures, which are carved with the statues of seven major historical figures: Zhang Qian, Huo Qubing, Ban Chao, Xuanzang, Marco Polo, Lin Zexu, and Zuo Zongtang. The sculptures depict their missions or expeditions to the Western Regions through Shiguan Gorge. They have made outstanding contributions to the integration and development of the Chinese nation and the exchange of Eastern and Western civilizations. They are the backbone of the Chinese nation.

We climbed up the steps, the flat part was like walking on flat ground, and the steep part was like climbing a cliff. I couldn't help but think of the sentence "The Great Wall is a long pass, with layers of barriers and dark cliffs hanging on the black mountains". After climbing up the Great Wall, you can see the Jiugang Factory from a distance. The chimney is also a major feature of Jiayuguan City. It should be noted that there are "real" and "fake" hanging wall Great Walls. That is, there is a "hanging wall Great Wall" built by the people next to the real Great Wall. The ticket price is different, so you must distinguish them clearly.

This attraction and Jiayuguan Pass are combined with a ticket. When you buy a ticket for Jiayuguan Pass, this attraction is included, but generally no one tells you this, so I will tell you today.

The theme of the Shiguanxia Hanging Wall Great Wall is the ancient Silk Road culture and the Great Wall culture. The main contents of the visit in the scenic area include the Hanging Wall Great Wall, the "Silk Road" sculpture group, and the Jiayuguan ancient weapons exhibition.

The scenic area is divided into four functional areas, namely the Shiguanxia Ancient Silk Road Cultural Corridor Area, the Hanging Wall Great Wall Military Defense System Area, the Leisure and Resort Area, and the Management Area. The Shiguanxia Ancient Silk Road Cultural Corridor Area runs through the entire scenic area and has a group of "Silk Road" sculptures. The Hanging Wall Great Wall Military Defense System Area includes the Hanging Wall Great Wall, Water Gates, and Ancient Weapons Exhibitions. The Leisure and Resort Area is the green area on the north side of the Great Wall and the small square at the entrance of the scenic area, which provides tourists with barbecue, tea, chess and card entertainment, and the sale of tourist souvenirs and other leisure services. The Management Area mainly refers to the tourist service facilities on the south side of the Great Wall, including the management center, public toilets, squares, parking lots, etc.

The "Ancient Silk Road" sculpture group consists of statues of seven major historical figures in ancient China who were recorded in the Jiayuguan area, including Zhang Qian, Huo Qubing, Ban Chao, Xuanzang, Marco Polo, Lin Zexu and Zuo Zongtang, as well as five followers, two horses, two camels and a carriage, to showcase the long history and profound cultural connotations of Shiguanxia.

The Jiayuguan "Cantilever Great Wall" is about 11 kilometers away from the urban area of Jiayuguan and about 7 kilometers north of Jiayuguan Pass. The Great Wall was built along a ridge with a slope of about 45 degrees. It looks like it is hanging upside down in the air, as if an iron arm is suspended in the air, so it is called the "Cantilever Great Wall".

By Magic City Real Detective Flower Cat |

Since there were four of us, we naturally chose to charter a car. Since it was the off-season, the price of the charter car was relatively cheaper. It cost about 100 yuan to visit all three attractions. The first place we went to was the Cantilever Great Wall. The Cantilever Great Wall is located on the northern slope of Heishan Mountain on the north side of Shiguan Gorge, 8 kilometers north of Jiayuguan Pass. It was built in the Ming Dynasty. The flat part of the Great Wall is like walking on flat ground, and the steep part is like climbing a cliff, which is quite similar to the Badaling Great Wall. From the Great Wall, you can see the vast scenery outside the pass.

It should be noted that, probably because it is a small attraction, there are electric bikes for rent at the entrance, the price is 50 yuan per bike, with no time limit, so I borrowed an electric bike and took my wife in. I originally thought that I could ride the electric bike all the way to the Great Wall, but it only took 5 minutes to reach the temporary parking spot for the electric bikes, and then everyone had to walk to the Great Wall... If you walk, it is only about 10 minutes from the entrance of the scenic area to the foot of the cantilever Great Wall, which is really not cost-effective.

The cantilever Great Wall may not look high, but it is actually quite tiring to climb, especially when you climb it around noon. It is not much easier than the Badaling Great Wall, but the sense of accomplishment is still very strong when you reach the top.

It is particularly important to note that if you buy tickets online, you cannot pick them up here. My wife and I encountered such an embarrassing situation. As a result, we could only refund the tickets we bought online and buy them on the spot. If you buy tickets online, you must pick up the tickets at Jiayuguan Pass before coming to this scenic spot.

I went to Dandong two years ago and had the honor to climb the eastern starting point of the Great Wall. Although the Great Wall stretches to Xinjiang, the main area guarded by it is the westernmost pass at Jiayuguan. To this day, Jiayuguan still has a section of the Great Wall built in the Ming Dynasty. It is very majestic, built against the mountain, and occupies a natural barrier. In that era of cold weapons, even with thousands of troops, it was difficult to cross the city. Touching the mottled wall with my hand, I recalled the scene of the war drums like thunder and the arrows like rain. How many soldiers sacrificed their lives and shed their blood. Even the songs after the truce are tragic and majestic, "Don't laugh at me sleeping drunk on the battlefield. How many people have ever returned from the battles in ancient times?"

By Soledad |

This attraction is not very big. I was already at Jiayuguan before. I was afraid that he would scan my face when checking tickets. This time, I just went in and scanned my face. I didn’t need to take out the ticket. But for safety, it’s better to keep the ticket. When I went up, I saw the Great Wall hanging on the cliff. When I searched online at first, I saw that the b was the b of hand b. Later, I saw that it was written as the wall of the wall. Then I asked the driver of the chartered car. He himself couldn’t figure it out, but I felt that there must be something wrong with the word "arm" on the Internet. It was not the arm of the arm. At first, I felt strange. How is the cantilever hanging? How is the arm hanging? Then I followed the introduction of the sign at the entrance of the scenic spot. It should mean a cliff. But I feel that the Great Wall looks like an arm, so it seems to be right to say it is the arm of the arm. I saw a Thai tour group there. They took a photo on it and then left. Then I was left alone to climb there. I was really the only one who was scared. It was quite tiring to climb to the top in one breath, but the scenery was quite nice, and it felt quite comfortable to listen to music while on top. After coming down, I saw an ancient road of the ancient Silk Road, on which there were some sculptures on the Silk Road. There was an introduction to the characters in front of each statue, and you can learn a lot of knowledge about the Silk Road.

The Hanging Wall Great Wall is located in the north of Guancheng. It was built to improve the entire defense line. The early wall no longer exists. The current scenic area is newly built. It is not long, but it is not easy to climb, especially under the hot sun.

By Floating Years |

A part of the Jiayuguan Great Wall, not far from the city, surrounded by desolate mountains and wilderness, but the scenery is very beautiful, I recommend a visit.

By Watcher |

Because the area where this section of the Great Wall was built is relatively high and steep, and the surrounding mountains are lower than it, from a distance it looks like the Great Wall is suspended in the air, hence the name "Hanging Wall Great Wall". However, this section of the Great Wall was newly built on the original site, imitating the ancient style.

By Mammoth |

Jiayuguan doesn’t have any special highlights, but compared to the pass, I find the hanging wall Great Wall more interesting. What I like is not the Great Wall itself (this was a replica built later), but the environment and landforms around the Great Wall. The overall feeling is desolate, empty and imposing.

By Paramecium |

The existing Great Wall was rebuilt in 1987, and the surface is covered with crude new paint. The two old disabled legs stood under the newly repaired hanging wall of the Great Wall, with little interest.

By inspiration |

The Hanging Wall Great Wall is also written as "Cantilever Great Wall" when searching online. The stone tablet in the scenic area uses a homophone, "Hanging Great Wall". This section of the Great Wall is not long, but after climbing all the way, I looked back and realized that my legs were shaking - it felt like the road behind was hanging on the mountain. Fortunately, we didn't need to go back, and a plank road was opened for tourists to come down, so we finally came down.

Climb quickly. It takes more than an hour to climb up the hanging wall of the Great Wall and then come down to the square at the entrance of the scenic area. I promise that as of October 2018, there is no cableway here, unlike Mutianyu Great Wall and Badaling Great Wall. However, this section of the Great Wall is not long, but it is very difficult to turn back if you are halfway up. The design of the scenic area is a one-way street. As long as you are determined to start climbing, it will be difficult to give up halfway. So in the square, please think twice before you climb up.

By Ant Ant |

It looks nice, but it's too high. In fact, more than 90% of tourists don't climb it after seeing the momentum. I walked around for an hour and didn't meet many people. It's much more comfortable than the crowded Badaling Great Wall in Beijing. In fact, it looks difficult to climb, but after you actually climb it, you will find that it is indeed difficult to climb, even more difficult than you imagined. Because this is a plateau, with an altitude of 1,700, which is completely different from Badaling.

By Andy.Bohu.Tang |

You can only go to the Hanging Wall Great Wall if you buy a pass. It is not very long and there are not many things to see.

By psyluo |

The Great Wall is very steep and is built on a cliff at a 45-degree angle. It is very strenuous to climb, but the scenery at the top is beautiful.

By Devin^ _ ^ |

Compared with the Great Wall in Hebei and Beijing, this section of the hanging wall is a bit crude... After all, Jiayuguan has been built to be as solid as a rock.

The Hanging Wall Great Wall extends northwards to Heishan Mountain, but ends at Heishan Mountain. Why? Because there are mountains to the north of Heishan Mountain....one after another (one mountain is higher than another one)...I climbed two small hills to the north of Heishan Mountain and couldn't climb anymore. And the reason why Heishan Mountain is called Heishan Mountain is because it is all black iron ore. Yes, you heard it right, all of it! The iron ore is on the surface of the mountain, and the sizes are uneven. I even picked up two small pieces of ore (also as a souvenir). Because there are so many iron ore, there are basically no plants on the mountain. Not to mention animals....it's so desolate! To the south of the Hanging Wall Great Wall is the main city of Jiayuguan, and the main city of Jiayuguan extends southwards to the "No. 1 Mound in the World".

In order to facilitate the climbing of tourists, a stepped path was built on the first pier and the ridge wall during the reconstruction in 1987. Although there are only more than 400 steps along the path, it is enough to make people hesitate. However, as long as you reach the top of the mountain and look around, you can see the desolate desert outside the Great Wall, with only a few patches of oases dotted in it, showing that there is still life here struggling tenaciously against the harsh natural environment.

The military defense system area of the Hanging Wall Great Wall includes the Hanging Wall Great Wall, Water Gate and ancient weapons exhibition. The leisure resort area is the green area on the north side of the Great Wall and the small square at the entrance of the scenic area, which provides tourists with barbecue, tea, chess and card entertainment and souvenir sales. The management area mainly refers to the tourist service facilities on the south side of the Great Wall, including the management center, public toilets, squares, parking lots, etc.

The steps are still a bit steep, but fortunately there are not many people, and it is not as crowded and steep as Badaling. Just crawl slowly. This scenery is very easy to enjoy. The main thing is that you are afraid of this section of steps leading to the top of the mountain, so you can enjoy the scenery.

The cantilevered Great Wall shocked me, probably because I had never been to the Great Wall. Climbing to the top of the Great Wall and looking out over the vast expanse of space was very refreshing. The road we chose to go down the mountain was surrounded by rocky mountains and the scenery was also very charming.

By The Dark King |

After climbing a short distance, I found the road ahead was steep, so I gave up. And they were very considerate, knowing that you would give up, and arranged stairs for you to go down to the city halfway.

By Happy walking |

The two wing walls of Jiayuguan, also known as the "cantilevered Great Wall", cross the desert Gobi and are tightly connected to the mountains on both sides, like the arms of a giant stretching out, tightly locking this territory and not allowing outsiders to invade!

By There is no silver here |

It looks high and steep, but it is actually not that difficult to walk on. It only takes an hour to complete the whole walk.

By Alfalfa |

There is not much scenery worth appreciating. There is the artificially repaired Ming Great Wall, and it seems that there is a suspended wall Great Wall scenic area that was privately built and charged, and another one built by the state. The two are close to each other and easy to confuse.

By coffee |

As the starting point of the Ming Great Wall that spans thousands of miles over mountains and ridges, it is actually worth visiting, and the ticket price is originally included in the ticket to Jiayuguan. However, it is a long way from Jiayuguan, and the speed limit is very strict along the way. The only option in the scenic area is to walk along the Great Wall. The Great Wall looks newly restored, so there is no sense of history as a whole. The wild parking lot at the main entrance is 10 yuan per car, and the official parking lot is free, but it takes about 10 minutes to walk back to the main entrance.

By Swing Leaves |

Coincidentally, at the foot of the Great Wall, there is a tank battalion of our army training, accompanied by the roar of tanks and armored vehicles all the way. Climbing to the top, you can overlook the scenery of Jiayuguan. On one side is the earthen Great Wall built thousands of years ago to resist foreign invaders, and on the other side is a modern and powerful army defending national sovereignty. The changes of history are condensed in the same picture at this moment.

Just as we were driving away from the cantilevered Great Wall, the armored troops happened to be returning to the camp after training. All vehicles hurriedly pulled over to show respect, and the armored convoy whizzed past.

By Sirius.L |

The Great Wall, as the northern extension of the ancient Jiayuguan Pass, is connected to it. It is about 15 kilometers long and is about 7 kilometers away from Jiayuguan Pass. Today, there are very few intact parts and discontinuous remains of the wall. Because it hangs upside down on the ridge, it looks like a hanging arm, so it is named "cantilever".

By Lin Feikai |

The Hanging Wall Great Wall scenic area is mainly a section of the Great Wall, which is built on the ridge and is very steep, so it is called the Hanging Wall Great Wall. When we climbed halfway, it started to rain, but we thought it was still early, so we continued to climb up, which took a long time and we regretted it later. However, it must be said that the higher you go, the better the scenery. This attraction doesn't have any special features.

The Hanging Wall Great Wall Scenic Area is located 14 kilometers northwest of Jiayuguan City. It is 8 kilometers away from Jiayuguan Pass. There are two sections of the Great Wall in the scenic area. The South Mountain Great Wall is the Shiguanyu Great Wall. The North Mountain is the Hanging Wall Great Wall. They are both important parts of the Jiayuguan West Great Wall. The Great Wall winds on the top of the Black Mountain, steep and precipitous. Zhang Qian went on a diplomatic mission to the Western Regions, Huo Qubing led troops to the expedition, Xuanzang went to India to seek Buddhist scriptures, and Marco Polo left his footprints here.

The walls of the Great Wall are not high and are in the shape of a saw ruler. You can walk up the mountain along the Great Wall.

Not far from Jiayuguan Pass, there are steep stairs. When you climb to the highest point, you can see the snow-capped mountains not far away. It is very beautiful, but due to the steep slope, it is not recommended for the elderly to climb. The current scenic spot was repaired later, and the original appearance is no longer there.

In the hot weather, looking at such a big slope, I no longer have the energy to go up. It costs 20 yuan to go up. It is estimated that it will take about 1 hour to climb.

Because the wall falls steeply from the mountain, it hangs upside down on the ridge like the Great Wall, with an iron wall hanging in the air, blocking the Shiguan Gorge, and is commonly known as the "Hanging Wall Great Wall". Visitors climb up the steps, and the flat parts are like walking on flat ground, and the steep parts are like climbing a cliff. My friend and I didn't have enough physical strength to climb, so we didn't climb up to see it. I believe that climbing up will be a different view.

Friends who have never been to the Badaling Great Wall may find it very interesting.

er... In contrast... The cantilever Great Wall has too many traces of post-renovation, and you can feel the strong modern tofu dregs plastering style at a glance, and its scale is far less than that of Badaling, with only two small sections. But don't underestimate it because it is a short section, but it is really steep. We climbed and "wanted to bask in the air", and the sense of frustration rose sharply. .

Man-made attractions, not cost-effective. But there are fewer people

By youth |

I think this is not very good. First, all of them were rebuilt later, and those who pursue the original will find it a rip-off. Second, the scenery is not very interesting. To put it bluntly, it is just climbing a mountain. Third, it is related to the Silk Road culture, but it cannot be considered a relic. Fourth, even if you climb to the highest peak, the Gobi Desert you see is no different. So climb it if you have enough energy, but don't go up if you are in a hurry.

When checking in, the Cantilever Great Wall Scenic Area requires the fingerprints entered when the city was closed. I don’t know what it is for, maybe to prevent multiple people from using the same ticket!

The cantilevered Great Wall attraction is very simple. After going up, on the left is a Great Wall that spans the water, called Shuiguan, and on the other side is a Great Wall that goes up the mountain, which is very spectacular.

I went to the water gate first, which was actually a wall built on the water, which didn't mean much. I also found that in addition to the cantilevered Great Wall, there was also a Great Wall on the mountain on the left, and I didn't know what it looked like. I heard that someone built a fake tourist attraction here before, so this should be it!

Next, we climbed up the steps. We first walked a long distance on the flat road, and then climbed up the steps. The steps are very steep, so it is not easy to climb up. We must always beware of unsafe factors. The higher we go, the stronger the wind is, and it feels quite cool. The people who climbed up together were different. Some had good physical strength and basically did not stop all the way up, while those with poor physical strength had to rest after climbing a few steps. I was relatively good. I only rested once in total, but I was sweating. The cool breeze on the top of the mountain blew over and it became a little cold again. The Great Wall also has some turns with the ups and downs of the mountain, but the higher you go, the clearer the scenery of Jiayuguan City is. In fact, the scenery near the cantilevered Great Wall is quite good. There is a field on the left side of the Great Wall, and the mountains are undulating on the right side. In addition to the fake cantilevered Great Wall, there are two pavilions on the other two peaks, which are quite interesting. The bottom of the mountain is part of the scenic area, with some camels and other sculptures. And under the other mountain is a high tower, which should be a temple!

Not far from the bottom of the mountain is a field with green and yellow plots alternating. The scenery is very nice, but unfortunately there is a large industrial area in the distance, with chimneys and factories everywhere. After hard work, I finally reached the top of the mountain and could see far away. Many tourists simply climbed to the top of the mountain next to the Great Wall to take pictures, but it felt quite dangerous. I stood on the watchtower at the highest point of the Great Wall and looked at it. The scenery was very beautiful.

Then we went down the mountain. We didn't go down the original road, but opened up a mountain road to go down the mountain. There were many heart-locking locks tied to the chains at the place just after going down the mountain. There were also locks for sale on the side. The locks were hung neatly, which was nice. Although the downhill road was not as steep as the uphill road, it was also quite narrow and steep. I walked very carefully and returned to the flat ground smoothly. Below are several groups of sculptures. One group is a caravan from the Western Regions, pulling camels forward, and another group is celebrities related to Jiayuguan, such as Lin Zexu, etc. In addition, the location of the tower is really a temple, but I didn't go to see it.

A very nice view of the Great Wall

Man-made landscape, but included in the 100 package.

It's just so-so. The scenery is so-so, and there's nothing to do. It's suitable for people who like to climb high, and there are some recreational projects. It's included in the combined ticket. If you have enough time, you can go and take a look. If you don't have time, you can ignore it. There is a toilet at the end of the camel sculpture. It's dirty and smells so bad that you can smell it from outside. Bad review

It is a good pair with the first pier. It is useless. In fact, the correct operation should be to take pictures in the parking lot instead of going in to see it. But because it is a bundled sale, you can only go in to visit. And it is mainly for mountain climbing. Suitable for tourists who like mountain climbing

Construction began in the 18th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1539). It was originally 1.5 kilometers long and was a stone and earth wall. The existing Great Wall is 750 meters long, of which 231 meters is a rammed earth wall that climbs on a 150-meter-high ridge with a slope of 45 degrees. It seems to be hanging upside down in the air, hence the name "Hanging Wall Great Wall".

The Hanging Wall Great Wall was completed in the 19th year of Jiajing. It was built on the mountain and dropped steeply from the top of the mountain. It looks like the Great Wall is hanging upside down. The iron wall is suspended in the air, blocking the entrance of Shiguan Gorge. It is also called the "Broken Wall Great Wall". Located 8 kilometers north of the city, Heishan is 15 kilometers long and is an important section of the Jiayuguan West Great Wall together with the Shiguan Gorge Great Wall. It is very similar to Badaling, but relatively narrow. It is known as the "Western Badaling". Going down the mountain, you will see the Silk Road Sculpture Group. There are countless celebrities who have entered and exited the Western Regions through Shiguan Gorge, including Zhang Qian, Huo Qubing, Ban Chao, Xuanzang, Marco Polo, Lin Zexu, and Zuo Zongtang.

The last section of the Great Wall is super steep... but it is relatively short, so it is still very strenuous to climb up.

The cantilevered Great Wall is a section of the Great Wall built on the ridge. It was once a strategic location where one man could block the passage of ten thousand men. In fact, this section of the Great Wall no longer exists. It is said that only a few meters of foundation remains of the original wall. The Great Wall we see today is just a modern project. I always feel that it is not authentic, so I only choose to watch it from a distance. Otherwise, it takes 1.5-2 hours to go up and down the wall, which is very tiring.

The grandeur of the Hanging Wall Great Wall was beyond my imagination. Hanging on the steep cliff, it really lived up to the saying that it is the arm of the country. The Great Wall on the frontier is not self-proclaimed. In the distance, you can see the gray-black snow-capped mountain tops, and at your feet is the vast wilderness. When climbing up, it is like a bamboo joint that makes you look up. Every step seems to be facing a bottomless abyss. If you are not careful, you will roll down the cliff. So, all the questions fell into silence, and the Great Wall became a bridge from one shore to the other, leaving only the cool breeze.

A very spectacular Great Wall... Jiayuguan is the westernmost

By One flower, one world |

It doesn’t look high, but it’s very tiring to climb up. The clear and cool autumn weather is perfect for climbing and looking far into the distance.

It's just a small section of the Great Wall, and it looks relatively new.

It's a short section of the Great Wall, the scenery is pretty good and it's not too tiring to climb.

The Jiayuguan Great Wall is the western starting point of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall.

By Waiting for the wind |

It is only 18 kilometers away from Jiayuguan City, which is too close to the urban area. Standing on the Great Wall, all you can see are factories and modern facilities, which always feel out of place. It does not have the heroic and majestic momentum of the Badaling Great Wall at all.

The ruins of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty were rebuilt by later generations. You can go and experience it.

"The Great Wall is a thousand miles long, and the barriers are like dark mountains and cliffs."

The Hanging Wall Great Wall is part of Jiayuguan. It is located on the northern slope of Heishan Mountain on the north side of Shiguan Gorge, 8 kilometers north of Jiayuguan Pass. It was built in the 18th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1539). It was called "Broken Wall Great Wall" in ancient times and commonly known as "Hanging Wall Great Wall". At that time, this section of the Great Wall was 15 kilometers long. Later, only a section of the original wall of the Hanging Wall Great Wall remained. The existing 750-meter Great Wall was rebuilt in 1987, of which 231 meters of the wall was suspended on a ridge 150 meters high and 45' inclination. Visitors climb up the steps, and the steep part is like climbing a cliff. Go up the mountain from one side and go down the other side. At the foot of the mountain, the Silk Road Camel Caravan and the Ancient Silk Road have been newly built. The Ancient Silk Road has many sculptures composed of Chinese and foreign celebrities related to the development of the Western Regions in ancient China, including: Zhang Qian, Huo Qubing, Tang Sanzang, Zuo Zongtang, and Marco Polo. In the distance is the Huguo Temple.

Building such a narrow city wall on the mountain, like an arm standing there, does have its own characteristics.

Most of them are dilapidated and the government has not repaired them. Maybe it's because there are not as many tourists as the Great Wall of Beijing. Maybe it's to keep its original appearance. But looking through these broken walls, I am deeply moved. I have fought many battles and shed blood. My soul is still in Yumen Pass.

The wind was really strong, but it was spectacular to be on it!

The Hanging Wall Great Wall is a section left on the Black Mountain. The theme here is the ancient Silk Road culture and the Great Wall culture. The Ancient Silk Road Cultural Corridor runs through the entire scenic area.

--A 231-meter section of the Great Wall is made of rammed earth and climbs on a 150-meter-high ridge with a 45-degree inclination, as if the Great Wall falls steeply down the mountain.

--Stair-like walkways are built on the first pier and the hillside. Visitors can climb up the steps. The flat parts are like walking on flat ground, and the steep parts are like climbing a cliff, which is quite similar to the Badaling Great Wall. From the Great Wall, you can see the vast scenery outside the Great Wall.

As the saying goes, one who has not been to the Great Wall is not a true man. Have you been there?

By new |

Don't go if you are not physically fit. It's really tiring! The road is narrow.

By I gained weight again |

There is an ancient Silk Road in the scenic area that no one has ever been to, including the Yumen Pass ruins of the Jiayuguan section.
