The huge grotto temple complex and the many grotto Buddha statues carved on the stone walls are very fantastic and spectacular.
There are Han Buddhist temples and Tibetan Buddhist palaces, as well as numerous legendary historical sites such as celestial horse hoof prints, Yuan Dynasty murals, and Buddha statues.
The northern temple is now open to the public, and the main areas worth visiting include the Thousand Buddha Caves, King Gesar Hall, and the Thirty-three Heavens Cave.
The Thirty-three Heavens Cave is the most important building in Mati Temple. It is a seven-story stepped building excavated along the mountain, where you can see many ancient Buddha statues.
Here you can also stay in Yugu tents, drink highland barley wine, eat hand-grabbed meat, and experience the unique lifestyle of grassland nomads.

You need to buy two tickets to visit the Ma Ti Temple scenic area. The 39-yuan entrance ticket includes a large scenic area, but the distances between each scenic spot are very far. It seems that the only part each tour group can actually visit is the Thirty-three Days Cave, which requires a separate ticket of 35 yuan.
In fact, I have another expectation for Mati Temple, which is Qilian Mountain. Due to the temperature, there is no snow in Qilian Mountain in October. Looking at it from afar in the light haze, you can still feel the majesty of the mountain, which reminds me of the strange treasure hidden in some tomb-robbing works.
The seven-story stepped building carved along the mountain is very spectacular just from the outside. Walking into the cave, going up the dim stairs inside, you can see many ancient Buddha statues.
However, the road inside the cave is very narrow and steep, so proceed with caution.
The Mati Temple is worth a visit, but the attractions are scattered, so driving is necessary. The Thirty-three Days is the core, and if you are lucky, you can have a pleasant visit. Basically, you need to leave half a day for transportation.
It was exciting to ride up the mountain, the scenery was great, and 200 yuan was not expensive. I didn't know much about the Buddhist temple. Climbing the 33-day mountain was a bit like climbing a bell tower of a European church, but it was at the end in a short while, and there was a place for Buddha worship on the top. Don't go to the rare animal center, there is nothing there. The gate of this place is ten kilometers away from the scenic spot inside, and there is no shuttle bus. It is too tiring if you don't have a car! On the way back, someone wanted to take a ride because I was alone and I didn't dare to take him. I didn't watch the show and didn't have time. The damn navigation led me to the village, wasting more than an hour! By the way, the new road is open. In the navigation, choose highway priority, the expressway with a speed limit of 70, the road condition is very good, I have never seen such a broken county road, I feel sorry for the rental car...
We went to the Horse-Shoe Temple early in the morning, crawled around in the hanging caves on the stone walls, saw all kinds of magical statues, and saw a family of swallows building nests in the caves. It was very fun~
Buddhist caves on the cliffs. The route to the Thirty-three Days Grottoes is quite steep and it takes some effort to climb the mountain. It is worth a visit.
It was so beautiful, so beautiful! It was totally unexpected! The snowy mountains were as beautiful as the Alps!
Although it is a grotto temple, it has the characteristics of a "hanging temple". The passage is primitive and thrilling, and it is definitely recommended! However, some attractions are under repair, and some attractions, especially the Golden Pagoda Temple, are still not open to the public in the name of protection, which is a pity.
Very good, above 2500 meters above sea level
The Qilian Mountains glacier has beautiful scenery and you can come here to see it in all seasons.
I looked outside and saw that there was a long queue to enter the grottoes, so I didn't go up.
Because the light is best in the afternoon to see the Danxia landform, I might as well go to the Horse-Tied Temple in the morning. Before I went there, I only knew that it was similar to the Hanging Temple in Shanxi, with caves carved out of the cliffs, plus eaves and steps. Who knew that the navigation would actually find the foot of the snow-capped mountains! The tall, clear and very tempting snow-capped mountains came to my face, which was completely unexpected! I drove all the way into the scenic area and stopped from time to time to appreciate this rare but extremely beautiful scenery. The gurgling water was clear to the bottom, the golden meadow was dotted with snow-white sheep, and the red, orange, yellow, green and colorful colors were spread in front of the mountain! We even ignored the main purpose of this trip, and took Hu Zi to indulge in the beautiful foot of the snow-capped mountains, catching small grasshoppers, searching for beautiful small stones, and touching the cold snow-capped mountain meltwater. I just hope that time will pass slower, slower...
Mati Temple is at the foot of Qilian Mountain, ancient and full of magic. The Thirty-three Grottoes are very steep, and some places even feel like rock climbing... I recommend everyone to visit here! However, public transportation is not convenient, so you can only charter a car from Zhangye City!
In fact, it should be called the Horse-Shoe Temple Scenic Area, which consists of many temples and grotto attractions, which are scattered and widely distributed.
I have a very bad impression of Mati Temple. The scenic area is very large, with many scattered small attractions. Some are very far away and there is no convenient way to get to them.
This scenic spot is really hard to describe. I don’t even know what I saw.
Then there was the Dharma King's Palace and some waterfall (I had a really bad impression of this place, so I forgot what it was called), anyway, I didn't see them.
Very disappointed with this place.
The Mati Temple is a very small place. I don't know if there are many things to see inside.
The spring breeze is full of vigor and the horse's hooves are galloping
Ma Ti Temple is not a temple, but a grotto with a unique scenery. I just didn't expect that it is not Gannan, nor is it western Sichuan. As one of the four traditional Hexi counties, the Thirty-three Days Grottoes, which is the most beautiful part of Ma Ti Temple, are Tibetan Buddhism with flying prayer flags.
Climbing up the steep stone steps, panting, there is a viewing platform on the top of the mountain. The most beautiful Mati Temple may not be in the cave, but on the top of the mountain. Looking far away, you can see the rare dense forests in Gansu and the snow on the Qilian Mountains. The prayer flags fluttered, and I lay on the grass, imagining myself as a "Han" blood horse with Han blood flowing in my veins.
The horse gallops in the spring breeze, and the Qilian snow is as far as the eye can see. The Mati Temple is not a temple, but a place in the distance.
The legendary horse hoof prints are now preserved in the Horse Hoof Hall of Puguang Temple, becoming the temple's treasure. The Horse Hoof Temple scenic area stretches for dozens of kilometers. In addition to the grottoes, there is also the Qilianshan grassland. In October, the whole garden is full of golden colors, and the scenery is pleasant.
The internal climb is quite unique. The walking path in this place is extremely narrow, but there are many people and traffic jams often occur. The progress is slow.
The scenery of Mati Temple is nice and worth a visit. It takes basically a whole morning to visit it.
There are many scenic spots in the Mati Temple area. Don't miss the Golden Pagoda Temple and the Upper, Middle and Lower Guanyin Caves, which have the famous large-scale "Flying Apsaras" carved with flesh, which is 300 years earlier than the Flying Apsaras in the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang. You must spend more than half a day to play there to have a good time.
The Bodhi Pagoda is a great place to take photos. You can take photos of the Thirty-three Days Grottoes of the Mati Temple on one side and the snow-capped mountains of the Qilian Mountains on the other. It is particularly spectacular.
Climbing to the top of the Thirty-three Heavens, you can see the beautiful scenery below. The Buddha statues and murals in the Tibetan Buddhist Hall are particularly exquisite and shocking. The legendary horse hoof print is stored in the Horse Hoof Hall of Puguang Temple and has become the treasure of the town. The Buddha statue behind the Buddhist Hall has a story. It is forbidden to take pictures in the Buddhist Hall. If you want to look back, you can see the panoramic view on Baidu Maps
There are many local handicrafts and small souvenirs at the entrance of the scenic area, all of which are very cheap. There are shops and restaurants, where you can have a meal if you are hungry.
To go to Ma Ti Temple, those who do not charter a car can go to the South Bus Station to take a bus. The bus times are: 7:35, 8:25, and 9:15 every day. The ticket price is 11.5 yuan/person. There are two buses back to Zhangye. The time is not fixed. You need to ask when you get on the bus. It is about between 16:30 and 17:00. The ticket price is 11 yuan/person. The round trip is 21.5 yuan/person. I personally think it is better to charter a car, because the Ma Ti Temple scenic area is divided into several small spots, and there is a distance between them. It is more convenient to charter a car. Ma Ti Temple is worth a visit. You should go with the mentality of seeing customs and scenery. Don't think about the exquisite cave murals like Mogao Grottoes. Feel the natural environment and cleanse your own soul in the dilapidated caves. You will get more.
Historic cave temples
The older lamas inside
Very kind
In the early morning, the mountain breeze was cool, and there were bursts of bird calls and horse neighs along the way. We walked to the Mati Temple and waited for the sunrise. When the morning sun slowly rose, we were completely immersed in the beauty of this gift from nature, and the Mati Temple standing on the cliff was bathed in this golden light. The beauty of "a lonely city and a thousand-foot mountain" made people feel devout and worshipful...
Compared with the magnificent Mogao Grottoes, the Mati Temple Grottoes, which are inlaid on the cliffs, are steep and unique, bringing a stronger visual impact and spiritual shock to people, so many people prefer to call it the "Hanging Temple"...
The Mati Temple Grottoes are a combination of Han Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism, with many Buddha statues enshrined, and the Thirty-three Days Grottoes are its essence. When you climb the steep steps carved into the cliff with your hands and feet, you have to sincerely admire the ancient craftsmen's ingenious ideas and excellent architectural craftsmanship. In short, the green mountains, beautiful waters, strange peaks and unique caves are the four wonders, and Mati Temple is worth your visit...
At first glance, it looks a bit like the Hanging Temple, but it is far from it. The internal walls are severely damaged by human beings. No wonder it was downgraded from 5A to 4A. This is also the first time I have found a downgraded scenic spot.
The temple is built against the stone wall, and the densely packed holes are the homes of birds. There is no trail connecting the top building, but there is a vertical hole in the mountain, which people with agility can climb up.
Later I learned that the grotto was a real grotto, and the horse hoof was a horseshoe print on the ground inside the grotto. The routine was so profound.
The grottoes here are indeed very distinctive. You can climb up to each floor you see from a distance. There are different Buddha statues on each floor. The internal structure is still very complicated. I can't help but sigh at the ancient people's piety for their Buddhist beliefs.
The most surprising and favorite attraction in Zhangye! It was around 4pm when we arrived, and it was completely backlit. It is recommended to go to Ma Ti Temple in the morning, with the rock wall facing the sun, and it is just right to see the colorful Danxia in the afternoon under the sunset. Time is tight, so we did not go into the natural scenic area to play. From a distance, the sunlight on the col is also very beautiful. The temple on the rock wall is also great. I like Ma Ti Temple more than the colorful Danxia.
4A scenic spot. You can buy tickets at the parking lot and drive in. The distance between each scenic spot is very far. The Thirty-three Days Grottoes is the essence of the scenic spot. It takes half a day to fully explore it. It takes two hours to go back and forth from Zhangye city. It takes at least an hour to climb the grottoes, and there are other attractions.
If you don't have the chance to go to Mogao Grottoes, then Mati Temple is still worth a visit. It's about 60 kilometers away from Zhangye. The scenery is nice! In addition, there is a temple nearby, which may not be open to the public now, but if you really want to pray to Buddha, you should be able to go in. Although it is not as famous as Mogao Grottoes, it is also a very good attraction.
Mati Temple is really a pristine place with a different view at every step, but the transportation is inconvenient. The special bus from Zhangye South Station only runs once on weekends. Usually, you take the bus from Zhangye to Nangu, which takes you to the edge of the village. The distance is quite long. After you get to the ticket window, you still have to walk a distance to the Thirty-three Days. We happened to meet a kind bus driver who drove us all the way to the Thirty-three Days, saving us a lot of walking. In fact, chartered cars also take you to the ticket office. Self-driving is the first choice. If you want to go to Mati Temple, you can go to the South Station and ask first.
There are grassland scenery and you can ride horses (extra fee). It is very big and if you drive yourself, you can drive a few kilometers in from the gate. There is also a parking lot inside (parking fee is 10 yuan).
Tickets for the Beisi Grottoes can also be purchased at the entrance of the attraction. I personally suggest that it is not necessary, there is nothing to see, and the caves are very narrow, with a width that is almost limited to one person. When there are many people, you have to queue up, and 30 people can enter in 15 minutes. There is a particularly steep staircase.
You can go or not, Ma Ti Temple. In fact, I was struggling for a long time whether to go to Ma Ti Temple or Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon. I originally wanted to go to the Grand Canyon, but I heard that the road was opened on one side, and it was a bit tiring to climb the slope. In addition, I had to catch a plane that afternoon, so I didn't dare to try it. In the end, I chose Ma Ti Temple. Ma Ti Temple itself is actually quite good. The biggest highlight is that it was dug inside the mountain. I imagine that these monks were really great back then. Ma Ti Temple is divided into two parts. It is not tiring to visit. In addition to the ladder you need to climb to enter the interior, and the ladder is very narrow and a bit hard; but the view from the top is very beautiful, everyone can feel it by looking at the picture. If you haven't seen similar scenery, Ma Ti Temple is still worth a visit, but since I have been to many similar places before, I am not surprised. The transportation to Ma Ti Temple and Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon is not particularly convenient. It is recommended to apply for a half-day tour, which saves time and worry, and includes the ticket fee. It is very cost-effective and comes with a tour guide.
Landscape uniqueness: ★★★ Not really unique
Landscape fatigue: ★★ Mainly because you need to climb stairs inside
Time required for the tour: ★★ Two hours
Characteristic courtyard
Authentic roasted whole lamb

The driver helped me buy tickets for the North Temple of Mati Temple and the Thousand Buddha Caves (74 yuan in total including parking fees). There are singing and dancing performances at Mati Temple at 11:00 and 15:30 every day. It was very shocking, but some of it has been destroyed. The local characteristic ethnic group is the Yugu people, a relatively small ethnic group in the country.
There are many cave Buddha statues carved on it, which are very fantastic and spectacular.
Although not as famous as the Mogao Grottoes, it is shocking enough. The forest, grassland and grottoes complement each other and are really beautiful.
We rode up the mountain and saw the snow-capped mountains. It was very beautiful.
There are not many things to see in Mati Temple, and the road in the past is very bad and difficult to walk. After entering the scenic area, you still have to walk a long way. Some of my companions went up and saw that the scenic spot was very different from the real picture. I was a little disappointed. I don’t recommend it. There are few foods around and I don’t recommend them. The quantity is small and expensive.
A cave temple. Because it is a small loop and there is no Dunhuang, I recommend going there to see it. There are very few people.
The temples are all built into the rock walls, and they require a lot of climbing, but they are very unique.
Tickets are 39, +10 for those with cars, excluding the Thirty-three Days Grottoes, if you want to go up, you need +35
If you don't have enough time, don't waste time going in, so many people don't go there, which can be seen from the dilapidated simple road we drove on.
The main reason is that the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang are too famous. Although it is also a national key cultural relic protection unit, it is slightly inferior to the Thirty-three Days Grottoes in terms of momentum. However, the temple built on the cliff is still worth a visit.
The Mati Temple and Beisi Grottoes - Sanshitian Buddha Caves, you can climb up, but the stone steps are very high and steep, and very narrow. If there are tourists on both the way up and down, you need to turn sideways to pass. The grottoes and columns are very beautiful, but many Buddha statues have been destroyed.
Standing in the highest cave and looking out, the white clouds, blue sky and high mountains in the distance form a beautiful picture. One can imagine what kind of state of mind the ancients had when they sat here to meditate.
The scenery is very beautiful! You must especially visit the Thirty-three Days Grottoes, which are a different world. But don't buy anything here, it's a rip-off! A rip-off! A rip-off! It was a bit cold the day we came, so we bought a big scarf on the side stand. I didn't look carefully at the time, and only found a small hole on the scarf after walking a few steps. I went back to the merchant and asked her to change it, but she immediately turned her face and refused to admit it, saying that she would not change it no matter what... Overall, the scenery here is worth seeing, but the vendors here really make people feel uncomfortable.
The feeling of Mati Temple is similar to that of Ta'er Temple.
Currently, only the Thousand Buddha Caves and the Thirty-three Heavenly Buddha Caves are open to the public at the Horse-Shoe Temple. The rest are not open to the public as they are too badly damaged.
Mati Temple is a bit above sea level, less than 3,000 meters. Students who are sensitive to altitude can make some preparations in advance.
The natural scenery of Mati Temple is also very good. The prayer flags are particularly sacred against the backdrop of the Qilian Snow Mountain in the distance.
Mati Temple is actually a group of grottoes with many small temples. It is currently not open to the public.
The Mati Temple is worth a visit. The architectural style is mostly from the Western Xia and Yuan dynasties, which is different from the Mogao Grottoes and the Western Thousand Buddha Caves. The natural scenery of the Mati Temple is also very good.
Mati Temple is a tourist area that integrates grotto art, Qilian Mountain scenery and Yugur customs. We finally took some beautiful photos of prayer flags at Mati Temple.
The grottoes of Mati Temple are relatively scattered. They consist of seven places: Shengguo Temple, Puguang Temple, Thousand Buddha Caves, Jinta Temple, Upper, Middle and Lower Guanyin Caves, with a total of more than 70 caves and niches. They were first built in the Northern Liang Dynasty. The uniqueness of Mati Temple Grottoes lies in the fact that there are more than 500 cliff pagoda caves and niches in the Thousand Buddha Caves, which are large in scale.
People who worship or visit the Horseshoe Temple come here because there is a clear horse hoof print on the rock. The Horseshoe Hall is a must-see. On the ground of the Horseshoe Hall, there is a clear horse hoof print, which is the treasure of the Horseshoe Temple.
The Thirty-three Heavens Cave, located next to the Horse-Tied Hall, is the main building of the Horse-Tied Temple. The seven-story stepped building is carved along the mountain and is very spectacular to watch and photograph from the outside. Walking into the cave and going up the dim stairs inside, you can see many ancient Buddha statues, but most of them are ruins that have been destroyed.
There are 21 caves in total in seven floors of the Thirty-three Heavens Grottoes, which are neatly arranged on a cliff more than 100 meters high. It looks like a Buddha statue tower embedded in the center of the cliff. It is majestic and magnificent. The caves are unique in shape and the scale is the largest in the country. According to Buddhist scriptures, there is a Sakyamuni heaven in the center of the top of Mount Sumeru and eight heavens on the four sides, totaling thirty-three heavens. It is the place where the gods play.
Mati Temple has a beautiful environment with green mountains, clear waters, strange peaks and unique caves. It is backed by Qilian Mountains and is a great place to enjoy the cool air.
Love this temple!
I came to Mati Temple on the way back to Qinghai from Zhangye.
After experiencing the crowds at the Colorful Danxia and the near stampede, I realized that it’s better to have less crowded attractions!
I came to the Ma Ti Temple in the morning and almost reserved the whole place. Although I only had a quick look around, I still visited almost all of it.
Although I am not a devout believer, I can also feel the greatness of faith.
At noon, we had a big plate of chicken and set off for Zhuoer Mountain.
Ma Ti Temple is not a temple, it is a grotto. My friend arrived in Zhangye a few days earlier than us. We had to walk kilometers to Ma Ti Temple by bus. There was no sightseeing bus in the scenic area. There were several kilometers between scenic spots, so it was not very convenient to take the bus. So we chose a local guide sister [18093340864] to watch my video.
If you don't climb the Thirty-three Heavens, you haven't come to the Horse-Shoe Temple. Legend has it that when the heavenly horse picked up the Queen Mother of the West, it left a horse-shoe print, so it's called the Horse-Shoe Temple. The grottoes are full of steps that can be passed by one person. It's really not easy. In the absence of any electric buses, I was shocked.
Mati Temple is about 60 kilometers away from Zhangye city, and it takes an hour by car. In the early morning, there are only a few tourists in Mati Temple. The Qilian Snow Mountain, the old man and his dog at the foot of the snow mountain, and the white tower standing alone are in contrast. The first person who chose to carve the grotto here must have been attracted by the beautiful scenery and didn't want to leave. At this time, it must be very pleasant to face the snow mountain and stay there for a whole day.
The sand here is slightly red. The horseshoe prints of the Horseshoe Temple can be seen in the Horseshoe Hall. There is a performance hall in the scenic area where Yugu songs and dances are performed.
Mati Temple Scenic Area
The mountains in the scenic area are undulating
Flowing water
There are rich and colorful cultural landscapes
Beautiful natural scenery
Unique and rich Yugu ethnic customs
Went there on April 6-7, 2018. It's a big scenic spot. You can drive in (the farthest scenic spot is more than 20 kilometers away from the gate of the scenic spot). There are restaurants and accommodations in the scenic area. Most of the caves have no isolation and protection measures, but there are also no signs with text descriptions. When touring the scenic area, sometimes you can see the caves by looking up inadvertently. Some parts are not open, and aluminum alloy doors and windows can be seen near some caves. The horse hoof remains are in the 33-day caves. Give the highest rating.
The climb to the Thirty-three Grottoes is very interesting. The grottoes are poorly protected, with traces of carvings everywhere and have been destroyed several times. It takes about an hour to get from Zhangye to Mati Temple, and the scenery on the way is typical Qilian scenery.
[Love in the Northwest-Only Wish to Meet Once]
Encountering the vicissitudes of a thousand years,
Encountering the tranquility of the ancient temple,
When I see the big Buddha holding a flower and smiling,
Encounter the original purity and beauty of Buddhism.
Horseshoe in the snow, few people, heavy snow
A place worth visiting!
A tourist area that integrates grotto art, Qilian Mountain scenery and Yugur customs. The grottoes were first built in the Northern Liang Dynasty and consist of seven places: Shengguo Temple, Puguang Temple, Thousand Buddha Caves, Jinta Temple, Upper, Middle and Lower Guanyin Caves, with a total of more than 70 caves. Mati Temple Grottoes is a large-scale grotto group. It includes seven small grotto groups, stretching for nearly 30 kilometers, and is a national cultural relic protection unit. Folk legend: When the celestial horse descended to the earth, one of its hooves landed on a rock here and stepped on a hoof print, which is how the temple got its name. Mati Temple Grottoes include seven small grotto groups: Thousand Buddha Caves, North and South Mati Temples, Upper, Middle and Lower Guanyin Caves and Jinta Temple. Each small grotto group has more than 30 caves, and as few as two caves, with a total of more than 70 caves.
The earliest of these grottoes was built in the Jin Dynasty. It was carved by Guo Yu, a native of Dunhuang, and his disciples. It was originally a place for Guo to live in seclusion and teach. Later generations added Buddha statues. During its heyday, there were more than 300 monks.
During the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, it was renamed Puguang Temple. The golden saddle and dragon robe in the temple were imperial objects bestowed by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. The Horseshoe Grottoes are known as the three great art treasures of Hexi Buddhism along with the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang and the Yulin Grottoes in Anxi due to their long history.
Better than expected. You need to drive in. It will take at least half a day to hike. 2 hours of driving is enough.
It is quite far from several major tourist areas, suitable for driving. Private cars can enter the scenic area, and the parking fee is about 5 yuan. I vaguely remember that the ticket price is no more than 100 yuan. It is said that the ticket price is halved after 2 pm.
This is a relatively mature scenic spot in Zhangye. There are also shuttle buses, but it takes some time. It is also good to ask a tour guide to explain. The way we took was to "listen". The guides at Mati Temple were all dressed in pretty ethnic costumes, telling some history and small stories, which was quite "emotional and soulful".
From a distance, the mountain walls are covered with caves, most of which cannot be visited.
There are many attractions in Mati Temple, and you can basically visit them all if you have two days!
It is very worthwhile to go, it is best to join a tour group, or sign up for a one-day tour with a guide.
Mati Temple is a tourist area that integrates grotto art, Qilian Mountain scenery and Yugur customs. The uniqueness of Mati Temple Grottoes lies in the fact that there are more than 500 cliff pagodas and caves in the Thousand Buddha Caves, which are large in scale. Mati Temple has a beautiful environment, with green mountains, beautiful waters, strange peaks and unique caves. Tourists can also stay in Yugur tents, drink highland barley wine, eat hand-grabbed meat, and experience the unique lifestyle and cultural characteristics of the grassland nomads. Sunan's altitude is much higher than Zhangye. As long as Zhangye is windy, Mati Temple will definitely rain. So avoid visiting in the rainy season.
There are two strange things in Zhangye. The Grand Canyon has no water, and the Mati Temple is not a temple. The Thirty-three Days Grottoes in the Mati Temple are very perfect. They were built entirely by hand by ancient people. It is so spectacular. Please see the pictures. Finally, I recommend a travel service company 18093340864
Mati Temple is still worth visiting. It feels better than Danxia. Danxia is too crowded! It is relatively quiet here, and you can also appreciate the majestic Qilian scenery, especially the Thirty-three Days Grottoes. The steps are steep and long, and you can sigh at the persistence of the ancients' beliefs. The temperature difference in Qilian Mountain is large, so please keep warm
My sister said there are two strange things in Zhangye. There is no water in the Grand Canyon. The Horse-Shoe Temple is not a temple, but a grotto. It is the place where the Queen Mother of the West was born. A heavenly horse came to pick her up and left a footprint, so it is called the Horse-Shoe Temple. [The sister of the travel service company introduced by a friend took us to play. 18093340864 is recommended to everyone. She has good driving skills and treats people kindly.] The Thirty-three Days Grottoes are too spectacular.
The unique cliff temple is worth a visit, and the tunnel stairs in the cliff are also worth exploring.
Well, today our itinerary is Ma Ti Temple. In the morning, the driver took us to eat the local special breakfast beef rice. Along the way, the driver explained the local customs to us, and we listened carefully. Ma Ti Temple sounds like a temple, but it is actually a grotto. Sister, feel free to visit. Finally, I recommend the sister to everyone, 18093340864
Looking down from the Horse-Tied Mountain, the valley is lush and green, and all kinds of worldly things are in sight. We took a rest beside a stream in the valley and drank a mouthful of sweet glacier meltwater to quench our thirst. Closing our eyes, the sound of the thousand-year-old hermits reciting aloud and the clanging sound of the literati and patriots digging caves seemed to echo in our ears. This Horse-Tied Temple, accompanied by snow-capped mountains and pines and cypresses, carries the inheritance and development of Chinese civilization and is destined to go down in history.
Located in Sunan Yugur Autonomous County, it is a tourist area that integrates grotto art, Qilian Mountain scenery and Yugur customs.
There is a section of the cave that is quite difficult to climb up, and it requires some physical strength to climb up.
China-TravelNote lied about military intelligence. Where did the off-season ticket cost 55? It's a liar. Before I went there, I saw that the ticket on Taobao was 67, and Fengfeng said that the off-season ticket was 55, so I planned to buy it at the scenic spot. But after I got there, the ticket seller said that we are a grotto, so there is no off-season or peak season, and the ticket is 73 all year round. I said I'd better buy it on Taobao. The ticket seller said that you can enter the park two hours after buying the discount ticket. Then I bought a ten-yuan ticket for the car. As a result, I didn't enjoy a penny of discount. I feel a little calculated back and forth. I don't know much about grottoes and Buddha statues, so I mainly look at the scenery. There are several points where the scenery is still good, one is the entrance of the ticket office, and the other is the Thirty-three Grottoes and the prayer wheels not far away. The grottoes are really hard to climb. Some places are very narrow, and some steps are very high. When going up, the highest step can reach the knee. When coming down, the most exaggerated one can only sit on the steps and reach the next step with your feet. I am a fat woman in my thirties with a height of 160. I was exhausted when I climbed to the highest point that can be opened. This attraction is suitable for young people with strong legs. It is difficult for the old, weak, sick, disabled, pregnant and fat people to challenge it. It is recommended not to challenge it. It may also be due to lack of exercise. The next day, in addition to sore legs, even arms were sore. So if you don’t have the physical strength, don’t challenge it. Really don’t challenge it. Really don’t challenge it. There is also the toilet. I don’t know if it’s because it was the off-season when we went there, all the toilets in the scenic area were closed. All, all, all, the toilets were closed. I asked several staff members, and they all said they were closed. But I think the biggest possibility is that there are toilets, but they are not allowed to use them. Later, I went to the toilet at the ticket office when I left the gate. As a scenic spot, I think this should not happen.

To be honest, the scenery is OK, but the grottoes are not satisfactory. The Thousand Buddha Caves are under repair, and the Golden Pagoda Temple is closed.
This is a very old temple. Legend has it that Tang Monk passed by here on horseback. However, it was destroyed by humans and nature in the later period. It is a pity. Go and see it before it is completely destroyed!
Legend has it that a celestial horse landed here when it descended to earth, leaving a horse hoof print on the rock, which gave the temple its name. The misfortune of war is no longer seen, and the ruins and restoration seem to condense the history of the border town on the Silk Road. Under the peaceful mountains and ridges are the dangerous scars of blood and fire.
【transportation】
There are buses to Ma Ti Temple from Zhangye Nanguan Bus Station. The departure time and frequency are not fixed and can be adjusted at any time according to the passenger flow. When the passenger flow is high, two or three buses are dispatched a day, and when there are few people, only one bus is dispatched. The outbound fare is 13 yuan, and the return fare is 20 yuan. Because there are many passengers on the outbound bus, people keep getting off along the way, and only a dozen tourists are left at the end of the journey, Ma Ti Temple. There are only these dozen tourists on the return trip, and few people get on the bus in the middle. In order to protect his own interests, the owner of the bus increased the return fare to 20 yuan.
【Tickets】
The ticket to Mati Temple is 73 yuan. I booked it online in advance, which was 67 yuan, and it also came with a khata.
【stay】
Yesterday I stayed in a triple room at the Youyou Youth Hostel but it felt too crowded, so today I moved to Zhangye Shangmao Business Hotel, where a triple room with a bathroom costs 130 yuan.
D3 Visit Ma Ti Temple
At 7:30 am, we checked out of the Youyou Youth Hostel and stored our bags. As we were not sure what time the shuttle bus to Mati Temple would leave, we took a taxi to Nanguan Bus Station to ask about the bus schedule without having breakfast. We learned that the bus would not leave until 9:30, so we bought the tickets and went to have breakfast.
The bus actually left at about 9:40. On the way, we experienced road construction and traffic jams, which delayed us a bit, and we arrived at Mati Temple at 11:00.
After buying the tickets, we got on the bus again. The bus took us to visit the Thousand Buddha Caves and then stopped outside the Thirty-three Caves Scenic Area. The Mati Temple Scenic Area is very large, and the scenic spots are far apart. It is impossible to walk there by yourself, but fortunately there is a bus to take us there.
