The Shazhou Night Market in Dunhuang is very large. If you want to buy some local gifts and souvenirs, you can buy them here. However, the purpose of our visit to the night market is not to buy things, but to eat!

The snacks at Shazhou Night Market are all concentrated in one area. There are many shops, but they only serve a few kinds of food, such as Huyang stewed cakes, sheep's feet, and roasted lamb. However, although the signature dishes of each shop are the same, the taste is still a little different. For example, we visited the night market for two nights. The sheep's feet of the first shop on the first day were delicious, but the donkey meat fire was just so-so. The sheep's feet of another shop on the second day were super unpalatable, but the donkey meat fire was amazing. However, the roasted lamb skewers of each shop were delicious and there was no disappointment.

Maybe it was because it was the peak season for tourism, so the night market was not as crowded as expected, but there were still quite a few people. There were indeed all kinds of strange and unique regional products in the night market. The dazzling array of special products, as well as the raisins, dried fruits, black wolfberries, Cynomorium songaricum, Cistanche deserticola, etc. on the food stalls, all gave this small night market in the west a unique charm! In particular, some handicraft stalls and shops actually sold camel teeth and wolf teeth. However, I didn’t see any ethnic minority brothers and sisters wearing ethnic costumes visiting the night market, which was a lack!

Shazhou Night Market, also known as Dunhuang Night Market, is the largest and busiest night market in Dunhuang, and is known as the night view and style painting of Dunhuang. Food is the main focus of Shazhou Night Market. When you enter from the big archway, there are restaurants on both sides, and Huyang Braised Pancake is the most famous.

By Cosmic Jack |

Dunhuang Night Market. You can buy fridge magnets here, but the quality is average. For food, go to the Shazhou Food Station in the middle. The prices of restaurants on both sides of the south gate are high. Changluo Housha Scallion Beef Pie and Li Guangji Apricot Tea are popular online.

By Metasequoia |

Taking advantage of the night, I decided to go to the night market again.

The Shazhou Night Market lives up to its reputation and is extremely lively. The two long streets are filled with all kinds of Silk Road delicacies, including golden and filling naan, fragrant and tempting scallion beef patties, and tangy mutton in cans.

In addition to food, this is also a place where all kinds of skilled craftsmen gather, some make bottled sand paintings, some trace the Mogao Grottoes murals on wooden boards, and even more amazingly, some carve with iron sheets. The works they create are truly lifelike.

The night market is very large and divided into many areas, but it is mostly full of tourists. The prices of food are 30% higher. It is not recommended to eat at the night market. It is a serious rip-off. You must calculate the price yourself after eating.

We came to Dunhuang Night Market to have dinner and supper, but found it crowded and didn't find any restaurants we really wanted to eat, so the director and I opened Dianping again and started searching for good restaurants nearby. There are quite a lot of snacks in Dunhuang Night Market, but I don't know how they taste.

By Evan's Diary |

Search for Shazhou Market on the map, it's right in the city. There's nothing special about the night market, it's just for shopping and eating, but Evan felt that there wasn't much food in Dunhuang, so he bought some souvenirs with Western characteristics, but babies, remember to bargain when buying things!

By First meeting |

We just came back from Dunhuang. We stayed in Dunhuang for two days and went to Shazhou Night Market for two nights. It may be the off-season, so there are not too many people and the surrounding environment is clean and sanitary. There are food, clothes, and many small souvenirs with unique features. The apricot peel tea here is delicious, 6 yuan a cup, sour and sweet, and the Dunhuang specialties here are also delicious. There are wild vegetables sand onion, fried elm money, Huyang braised cake, and hot plate intestines, which are delicious! It is a place suitable for outsiders to check in.

I don't understand the traditions of Dunhuang people. I came at noon and found that there was no one at all. All the shops were closed. Even if there was a noodle shop open, it would be fine. I had no choice but to go to a roadside shop to solve the problem. When I came again at night, it was a completely different scene. However, the restaurants were all the same, commercialized, and pretentious. At first glance, they were ripping off foreign tourists. Haha, we were willing to be ripped off, mainly because we didn't know other good places. We just found a restaurant that was not so pretentious and ordered stuffed skin, poplar braised cakes, etc. I like apricot skin water, which is sour and sweet. The taste was okay, and the two of us basically ate it all. But I still think that the lamb mutton we had in Heimahe tasted better. It was a pity that we didn't have donkey meat yellow noodles.

By Soledad |

On one side was a place selling handicrafts, and on the other side was a place selling food. I personally have no interest in handicrafts or souvenirs, so I went straight to the food. I saw the first place selling roasted lamb and went in. I felt that a skewer of lamb cost 15 yuan, which was quite expensive. I basically didn't eat much, and I think I spent 50 yuan. When I left, a bunch of people surrounded me. On the surface, they were very polite, saying hello to me and asking if I had eaten, but in fact they were just trying to attract business. I didn't like this atmosphere. So I went there for two nights, and for the next few nights I ate at a random restaurant outside. My boyfriend said that he was not used to eating these northwest noodles, so I basically ate rice, wontons, and dumplings.

By Cherries |

There is a Zhongwang authentic donkey meat yellow noodle in Shazhou Night Market. The noodles are very chewy and very good. I saw with my own eyes that this is the real handmade noodles. The service is thoughtful. Their barbecue is also very authentic! ! It is worth ordering.

By Small D-Culture |

There are mainly snack bars, commodity shops, and specialty shops. The layout is neat, but it is crowded and noisy.

Beautiful night market!!

The only advice: don’t go to Shazhou Night Market alone. It’s too desolate!

By JOJO |

Shazhou Night Market is also called Dunhuang Night Market. It can be divided into three parts. The first part is for food, such as various preserved fruits and raisins. The second part is for handicrafts, such as wood carvings. I don’t know which one is purely handmade. If you can’t tell them apart, you may buy Yiwu products. The third part is the Ma’s barbecue area, which has various old Ma’s. It is open until very late and is quite lively. The prices are naturally higher than outside. You can go shopping, but it is recommended to go outside for shopping and eating.

By 90 See the World |

I went there during the off-season, so there were not many people and only a few shops were open. The noodles were not as delicious as I expected and were very expensive.

By sophia___Q |

Next to the downtown area of Dunhuang is the Shazhou Night Market, where restaurants, local specialties, and handicrafts are set up in separate stalls, making it very lively at night.

By ▽・x・▽ |

The Shazhou Night Market is basically a must-go for tourists. After entering, I feel like a lamb to be slaughtered. Every store wants to pull you in. After sitting down and looking at the menu, the prices are indeed high. The Dunhuang specialty donkey meat yellow noodles are 38 yuan a bowl. They are not so delicious and sour. The meat skewers are also average. The apricot peel water here is not bad. I drank a lot of it in the two days in Dunhuang.

There are small stalls on both sides of the street behind the night market, selling handicrafts, specialties, etc. There is a postal delivery point. I wrote a lot of postcards of Mogao Grottoes. I strolled around and then went back to rest.

By tsavo |

Shazhou Market is the most lively night market in the area. During the day, it mainly sells souvenirs and local specialties, and at night, various food stalls come out to set up stalls. The quality of night market food varies, so it is best to check the reviews in advance.

By CY bacteria |

I came here in winter and it was so deserted. I heard that it is always busy in summer. I bought some dried fruits and ate lamb chops from Lao Zhong's restaurant. I liked the taste.

By Runqi |

The night market service in tourist cities is first-rate, the people are very kind, the hotel service is good and will not add various items, the taxi driver will tell you where the fruit is cheap, and the waiter in the night market will say that one person can't eat much food. It was the semi-finals of the World Cup at that time.

By sealink |

It is also very lively, and it is said that it stays there until 2 a.m. Come over for dinner at night to experience it.

They are all descendants of the Ma family, haha

I went to Shazhou Night Market and ate mutton noodles. Well, I didn’t take a photo of the mutton noodles. The mutton here is really addictive. It’s completely different from where we are.

By Chirp |

In fact, it is a check-in spot for tourists. It can be found in many ancient cities. Just take a look and don’t buy anything.

By Amy |

Don't eat right after you enter the door. According to comments from netizens and local chefs, this is a street for slaughtering pigs. You can walk inside to the alleys with fewer tourists. Don't buy anything casually.

By Check_Raise |

A street of food and shopping. Because it is mostly visited by tourists, the prices are relatively high, but it is quite lively and a good place to hang out at night. It is a good choice to stroll around the Shazhou Night Market and buy some souvenirs. However, the snack square of the Dunhuang Night Market is a place where tourists from other places are obviously ripped off, and there are touts everywhere.

By Nanshan |

The Shazhou Night Market in Dunhuang is worth a visit. There are many delicious foods.

By KK |

There are food and various handicrafts for sale. The special feature is the boxwood seal carving. My friend said it is cheaper than carving in our place, but I haven't noticed it. You can visit several stores to compare prices.

Because it gets dark late and it's a tourist city, even after 11pm, there are still many people shopping and eating, and it's quite lively.

By A man |

Shazhou Night Market is the Dunhuang Night Market. It's very good and you must go.

By Get a cat |

Shazhou Night Market is really a paradise for barbecue lovers, with many barbecue restaurants.

By Qinglu |

Since it was almost 10 o'clock when we got there, many shops were closed, and only the small stalls outside were still open. The most common things along the way were gauze scarves, poplar wood products, postcards, coasters, sand paintings, and the items in the picture above. I don't know what they are called, but if your home is suitable for this style, you can still take it back as a decoration. After all, they are all handmade and the craftsmanship is very good.

By Fungloading |

Shazhou Night Market is actually a food street. When I arrived, the street was full of people. Plus I had already eaten dinner, so I just strolled around after dinner.

By Xu Xiake |

I went there expecting to eat all kinds of delicious food, but all of them were selling barbecue, and all of them were named Ma... Every shop also had a tout, and I was constantly asked about food along the way, which was very annoying... In the end, I randomly picked one to try, and ordered grilled lamb skewers, grilled lamb hearts, and grilled eggplants: the grilled eggplants were terrible, I saw many tables had leftovers, so I don't recommend them; the grilled lamb hearts were a bit fishy; the highlight, the grilled lamb skewers, were also disappointing, with little meat, and the meat was not fresh and tender, far worse than those in Xinjiang... The rest of the night market sold various similar handicrafts, so there was nothing much to see.

By Xiong Dan |

It's really a dazzling array. There is everything. You can come here to eat and buy souvenirs. It's quite concentrated.

By Fish in the Aegean Sea |

We walked around for a long time before we found the night market... I am a road idiot, so I have nothing to say... There are so many barbecues inside, but it's a pity that the guy didn't let us eat them... He was worried that we would be ripped off... I went to the Northwest and didn't have a good barbecue meal, what a loss, a loss...

By Moonlight |

We went to Shazhou Night Market in the evening, only to find that the whole street was filled with barbecue snacks, the people were all tourists, and the souvenirs were all raisins. To be honest, it was not as good as I had imagined.

By Cici |

The whole street was full of barbecues, and every store warmly invited us to come in and sit down. We first took a quick look around the entire night market, and when we got to the innermost part, we randomly found a store to sit down, ordered some skewers, and after eating, we still felt unsatisfied.

By Invincible Flame |

There is a big donkey meat and yellow noodles restaurant on the left side of the entrance. The boss looked very unhappy when he heard that we only ordered one medium donkey meat and one yellow noodles. I thought it was boring. The taste was okay. The price is not cheap.

The overall price of the night market is very expensive among domestic tourist night markets. And for southerners, each portion is very large, so you can have most specialties at one time. There are several windows selling fried cakes in the small aisle from the food area to the small commodity area, which is the most delicious thing I have eaten. If you want to eat barbecue, go to the South Gate, where there is a whole barbecue street, and the price is not cheap.

The prices in the small commodity street are not very good and there is nothing special.

It's not a place I would recommend visiting. I looked at a few restaurants on Dianping that seemed good, but I didn't have time to go. I think you can go to the restaurants on Dianping.com. It's not expensive to take a taxi in Dunhuang, but I met a driver who directly asked for the price in front of Mingsha Mountain.

The Shazhou Night Market is located on Yangguan East Road in Dunhuang City. It is a good place for eating and shopping. When night falls, the lights are bright and there are many tourists. The night market is clearly divided into areas, with food, handicrafts, dry goods...

It is similar to the night market commercial streets in other cities. There are all kinds of Northwest delicacies, snacks and handicrafts here. There are also many people. You can go shopping at night.

As a fortress on the ancient Silk Road, Dunhuang is a must-go place for people traveling from south to north. It was called Shazhou in ancient times. There is a statue of a reciprocating pipa in the city. The Shazhou night market is very lively and the snacks taste good. There are also various handicrafts for sale. The mutton here is delicious and the people are very friendly.

Shaking off the sand on our bodies, we reluctantly left Mingsha Mountain and headed straight to the Shazhou Night Market in Dunhuang City, where we started enjoying the barbecue and yak yogurt in the northwest wind.

The stalls belong to different restaurants. The waiters wear uniform clothes and use standard polite language. It is said that the main local dishes are all priced uniformly, so there is no need to worry about being ripped off.

The Shazhou Night Market in Dunhuang is very famous. It is located on Yangguan East Road. It is known as the "night view" and "custom painting" of Dunhuang because of its distinct local characteristics and rich folk customs. At night, the Shazhou Night Market is very lively. This is what it looks like at 12 o'clock in the evening! You can find all the famous snacks in Dunhuang and even the Northwest here. Of course, the most popular one is barbecue! There are all kinds of handicrafts in the Shazhou Night Market, which will dazzle you!

By Liangzi |

The Shazhou Night Market is not much different from the night markets in many domestic tourist attractions, so I just went there to have a taste of the food. The prices are actually not very affordable, but I still found a restaurant to sit down with the mentality that since I was already there, I might as well try something.

By _Heartless |

The night markets are really the same in every place, and the food doesn’t interest me much. After walking around for a while, I found a restaurant and ate some barbecue and drank the local specialty beverage, apricot peel water, which tasted okay.

By Yangyang |

A must-visit spot in Dunhuang. Although prices are high, it is not easy for us tourists to find a local store with high cost performance. So let's have our first meal at the night market. We ordered poplar braised pancakes, red willow lamb skewers, elm money, snow mountain chicken, and donkey meat yellow noodles. The local apricot peel water is delicious, similar to our sour plum soup, refreshing and thirst-quenching.

I wandered around the night market stalls and bought some black wolfberries and raisins.

By Fan Fan Fan Kaka. |

Everyone in the food court holds a sign and stops you to come in for a meal. Every store has a sign saying authentic. Apricot peel tea is a specialty of Dunhuang. I saw a store with pretty good packaging, so I bought a bottle. When I went to buy it, I met a TV station doing an undercover interview and asked tourists how they knew about this store. It seems that the store I went to is a well-known one. It is called Liu Hongxing Apricot Peel Water. It is handmade and only opens after 5pm every day. It tastes sour and sweet, a bit like sour plum soup.

By Crispy chicken in the cup lid |

I had a very bad donkey meat yellow noodle, and expensive and average kebabs. There are many restaurants next door, which provide mobile speakers and microphones for customers to sing, and occasionally I can meet a few uncles who sing very well. Although the food is bad, the atmosphere is really good, and there are many special handicrafts for sale in the night market.

By Invincible |

When the weather was hottest, I sat in the courtyard of the youth hostel, looking up at the clear blue sky in a daze. The experiences of more than ten years kept appearing in front of my eyes. Nothing could cheer me up. There are too many disasters in life. Every disaster is inevitable. People always hope that everything will last forever, but in the end it is all in vain. For example, the Mogao Grottoes, no matter how glorious it was, are now just ruins. Everything is empty in the end...

Empty, not nothing, but you are the one who has passed by thousands of ships, the setting sun is gentle and the water is leisurely and indifferent, but unfortunately, I am not...

The night in Dunhuang is a little later than in the mainland. You can still see the sunset in the sky after 9 o'clock. The baked naan is very crisp, the beer is very cold and a little expensive, and the night breeze is a little tipsy...

By Mr.Q |

Friends who go to Shazhou Night Market, please check your receipts. We were almost ripped off, but luckily I have sharp eyes and saw through the tricks of the unscrupulous merchants.

Things inside are more expensive than outside. A bowl of noodles costs thirty yuan, and four or five skewers of potatoes cost 15 yuan. You should know that outside, five skewers cost five yuan.

Then when we checked out, the waiter took the bill and said 170. I felt like I didn't order that much. There was no unit price on the receipt, only a total price of 170. I asked the waiter to write the unit price, and sure enough, after writing the unit price, it was only 130. My husband and I were dumbfounded!!! More than 30% difference in price~ Later I asked the waiter what happened, and the waiter said he had miscalculated...

Anyway, friends who are going there should be prepared. You can go shopping, but be careful when eating.

We read a lot of reviews before going, so we didn't plan to buy anything, just to take a walk. Dunhuang Night Market has local characteristics, with many sand paintings, dried fruits, fruits, specialties, etc. There are also many places to eat, it's very lively, and the atmosphere is perfect! I bought apricot peel water, which cost 5 yuan at the night market, and only 3 yuan for the hotel room. It is a good choice as a place to hang out after dinner.

By Xian Pengwan |

There are a wide variety of stalls, barbecues, accessories, wood carvings, dried fruits, etc. in Shazhou Night Market. Drink a glass of apricot peel water when you are thirsty, play with wood carvings and taste local dried fruits when you take a break, eat a few skewers of mutton and take a bite of Roujiamo when you are hungry, it is really delicious.

Shazhou Night Market is a paradise for foodies. The soliciting boys and girls are very enthusiastic. You can sit in the open square to eat local delicacies, drink some wine and chat, and ask the price before dining. Further in is the place selling handicrafts, where girls can choose scarves and earrings for taking photos of Mingsha Mountain. Of course, there are also many special delicacies at the entrance of the scenic area. Use your taste buds to explore and discover them.

By Ginger |

This is a snack street. Not only are the food expensive, but the taste is also terrible. There are many handicrafts in it, and the prices are reasonable. After all, it is a scenic spot, so it is understandable.

There are souvenirs for sale at Shazhou Night Market, as well as various barbecue restaurants. I personally think the taste is okay, but the price is a bit expensive. Many restaurants say they have been interviewed by CCTv or A Bite of China? Apricot peel water, I personally don't think it tastes good. The hand-pulled lamb is really good, eat the meat in big mouthfuls.

Shazhou Night Market is actually a small shopping mall in the city of Dunhuang that is specifically for tourists to have midnight snacks and buy local specialties. It has become quite popular recently.

In fact, the food at Shazhou Night Market is really expensive. We didn't dare to order big dishes. It was mainly some beef and mutton skewers, grilled lamb chops, and the famous donkey meat yellow noodles, but that was it. Donkey meat is super expensive, 48 yuan for a small plate. Later, a chef told us that we should buy it by kilogram, which would be cheaper. I haven't tried it yet, so I have to verify it. I was afraid that I wouldn't be full, so I ordered 2 donkey meat hot buns (a bit like roujiamo) and a plate of cold noodles. In the end, the bill was 310! ! ! ! It was just a midnight snack for four people. It was the most expensive meal in the ten days! So I don't recommend you to eat here. There's really nothing special about it. It's too expensive.

But then again, the prices of dried fruits and handicrafts at the night market are quite reasonable, and you can bargain. You can check the specialties of Dunhuang first, and check the prices of the specialties you want to buy online, so that you won’t suffer a loss when you buy them on the spot. You can also ask more about the prices. The competition for selling specialties is still very fierce. There are really many handicrafts in Dunhuang, which is worthy of being a treasure house of art, and the prices are also relatively reasonable. You can look more before buying. There are many things to choose from, all kinds of small handicrafts, and you can still take some back as souvenirs, but if you buy things, try to go inside. Merchants with less good locations will offer cheaper prices. It’s a common practice for street stall shopping~ For dried goods, you should ask what year the goods are from. Some things are not on the market yet, and you may buy last year’s old goods.

The Shazhou Night Market is actually the Dunhuang Night Market, named after the Shazhou Market. Seeing is believing. There are many shops on the street, most of which are restaurants and craft shops. It is too hot in Dunhuang during the day, so people go out after the sun sets. There are many local delicacies in Dunhuang, but the most famous ones are donkey meat yellow noodles and Huyang braised cakes. The handicrafts in Dunhuang are also good. I personally like the sand paintings and porcelain plate paintings here.

This is a paradise for barbecue lovers. There are all kinds of barbecue restaurants on both sides of the street. Tourists from all over the country and even overseas come here to feast. Friends who can't eat barbecue can go to the famous food square near another street corner, where all kinds of snacks and meals from all over the country are available. Going deeper, you will see many stalls and shops selling handicrafts. The price will be cheaper than the scenic area, but there is still a lot of room for bargaining. There are many stalls selling local specialties when you are about to reach another gate.

The Shazhou Night Market is located on Yangguan East Road, a prime location in the city center, and is the largest night market in Dunhuang. Whenever night falls and the lights are on, tourists from all over the world gather in the dimly lit Shazhou Night Market, making it extremely lively. Shazhou Night Market is equivalent to the center of Dunhuang City. It sells food, fruits, braised dishes and everything else. You can go shopping there. It is also very convenient to stay here, but I heard that the prices of food here are a bit high.

As a snack street in Dunhuang, Shazhou Night Market is actually a barbecue holy land. Friends who like barbecue must go there.

A street of late-night food, antique accessories, and souvenirs. If you come to Dunhuang and want to bring local specialties or taste local food and experience local culture, then Shazhou Night Market is a must-visit tourist attraction on the Dunhuang tourism boutique route. It is not an exaggeration to say that it is the CBD, the commercial center of Dunhuang. Compared with modern shopping malls, I prefer to deal with such a noisy night market. This street is very similar to Chunxi Road in Chengdu many years ago. Walking in Shazhou Night Market, seeing the rich and interesting small commodities and gadgets in each stall, listening to the customers' inquiries and the vendors' shouts, it seems that you can still feel the hustle and bustle of thousands of years ago. The locals are very enthusiastic. Even if you go in and don't buy, they will patiently introduce it to you~ The desolate feeling described in the travel notes before coming here forms a great contrast with the bright yellow street lights on both sides of the road at night~ After walking down the night market, I feel warm instead. What is warm is the friendliness of the locals to outsiders~ It's not the kind of warm hospitality that you come in and take care of my business, but a sincere smile from the heart to every tourist from outside.

I thought it was a snack street, but it turned out to be a place selling handicrafts. There are many places to sit and eat when you first enter the night market. It is still worth a visit to experience the night market in Northwest China.

This is a must-see, the Dunhuang Night Market. It's quite interesting here, there are so many people, and you have to fight for a spot. Basically all the tourists who come to Dunhuang squeeze in here.

Donkey meat yellow noodles are the specialty here, you must try it. There are also many special snacks, my favorite is lamb skewers.

The night market is quite large, and most of the restaurants along the street sell Dunhuang delicacies such as donkey meat and yellow noodles. Going further in, there are more and more small stalls, and their neat and uniform appearance shows the confidence of "official certification".

I bought two woodblock-printed "Flying Apsaras" prints. You can bargain for the price.

The yogurt I bought casually from "Jenny" was quite amazing.

I bought poplar wood seals at two stalls, some of which were hand-carved and some were machine-carved, for about fifteen yuan.

I went to Dunhuang last year and felt that Dunhuang was different from southern cities. The camel bells in the desert had a unique flavor. I went to Mingsha Mountain, Crescent Lake, Mogao Grottoes, saw the Yadan wind erosion landforms, and the ancient city of Dunhuang, took wedding photos, ate donkey meat and yellow noodles, drank apricot peel water, bought Lophatherum tea and Lophatherum shoes. My father-in-law has high blood pressure and high blood lipids. He drank Lophatherum tea and the effect was very good. It is indeed not in vain. I brought a lot back. The grapes here are very sweet and very cheap. I highly recommend it. It is said that Li Guang apricots are also delicious, but it was not in season when I came, so I didn’t eat them.

Very old, no special features, the things they sell are pretty much the same
