Waterwheel Expo Park

Lanzhou Waterwheel Expo Park is located on Binhe East Road on the south bank of the Yellow River, about 2.6km east of Zhongshan Bridge. Lanzhou Waterwheel has a long history and is the oldest irrigation tool along the ancient Yellow River. It is also called "sky wheel", "turning wheel", "irrigation wheel" and "tiger wheel". Lanzhou Waterwheel Expo Park consists of three parts: Waterwheel Park, Waterwheel Square and Cultural Square. It is a tourist park specially designed and built by Lanzhou Tourism Bureau to reproduce this ancient irrigation tool. The Waterwheel Expo Park, located on the south bank of the Yellow River at Binhe East Road, Chengguan District, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, is a theme park that showcases waterwheel culture and is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. The Waterwheel Expo Park was built in 2005 and is the theme park with the largest number and variety of waterwheels in the world.

The waterwheels in Lanzhou have long been replaced by motors. The waterwheels here were built in 2005 for viewing and commemoration purposes. There are a total of 6 groups of waterwheels, two in each group, equivalent to 12 waterwheels. The waterwheels here are characterized by being large, really large, with a diameter of up to 20 meters. These 12 large wheels stand there, and it is indeed spectacular to look at. However, none of these waterwheels! Will! Move! Because it is only the beginning of May, the Yellow River is not in the flood season, the water flow is not fast enough, and such a large waterwheel certainly requires a lot of thrust. The only way is to first introduce river water into the tunnel, pull up the gate, raise the water level, and then open the gate to release water, and the waterwheel will slowly move, but it will not take long. When I went there, the gate opening time had long passed, and these 12 wooden giant wheels were there, looking domineering, but they couldn't move, which was a big disappointment.

The only moving waterwheel is the miniature one at the entrance. It was actually turning, but when I asked the security guard, it turned out to be powered by electricity. Forget it, I didn't see the big waterwheel moving, so I just admired its structure carefully. It is indeed very delicate. This place is worth seeing. It could have been rated 9 points, but because it lacks dynamic beauty, I'll give it 7 points.

There are all kinds of manual water wheels in the garden, all of which can be driven by human power. You can experience them for yourself. Some can be pedaled, some can be cranked, some can be pushed with both hands, and some can be used by sitting on a frame and using both hands and feet. It's really fun. Children like it very much, and adults can also learn a lot.

By Knowing each other is as light as water |

Although it is a 4A scenic spot, I personally feel a bit boring. Waterwheels are everywhere. I don't know why they have become a feature here. Some waterwheels that can be played by hands and feet are very popular with children. I think it takes about 20-30 minutes to see them all. If you take a sheepskin raft, you can only go downstream, go in the direction of the gymnasium, and then take a speedboat back, or take a speedboat to the upstream first, and then float back. The price is at least 80 per person, and a longer distance is about 180-500 per person. You can refer to it.

Lanzhou Waterwheel Expo Park is located on Binhe South Road. Go west from the Waterwheel Expo Park Station along the Yellow River, close to the Yellow River Iron Bridge, connected to the Yellow River Mother Sculpture in the west, and facing Baita Mountain in the north. There are two-wheeled waterwheels, cofferdams, and water mills in the park. Lanzhou Waterwheel Expo Park is the oldest irrigation tool along the ancient Yellow River in Lanzhou, reflecting the wisdom of the ancient working people. The willow branches hanging down along the embankment gently brush the water surface, the red brick paved road is clean and simple, and the open space on the shore is paved with pebbles in beautiful patterns. When you are tired, you can take a rest on a chair under the shade of the willows, or drink tea under the pavilion on the shore, watching the Yellow River flowing by your side, or take a sheepskin raft to drift on the Yellow River, or take a speedboat to speed on the river...

The Waterwheel Expo Park is not very big, and there are many tools that simulate waterwheel work for you to experience. It takes about an hour to visit it! It is suitable for bringing children to experience farm work, and for adults, it is just to take pictures under the big waterwheel!

By Jin |

When I went there, the Yellow River flooded the Expo Park during the flood season, so I didn't see much of the scenery. But I heard from others that the scenery is good during normal times.

By Heavy rain causes flooding |

There is a waterwheel museum near the Yellow River, not far from the Yellow River Mother Statue. Actually, there are only two large waterwheels.

A 4A-level scenic spot with many water wheels. It is also a great choice for watching the sunset over the Yellow River.

By Smile |

It's free, located in the city, with convenient transportation, and the water truck is very large.

By Mint |

Go to Lanzhou and take a walk. You can see the Yellow River. There seems to be nothing to do in Lanzhou. We passed Lanzhou on our way to Dunhuang.

It is on the bank of the Yellow River and is worth a visit. The waterwheel is unique.

There are water wheels of all sizes. Lanzhou is known as the "Water Wheel Capital". The Water Wheel Expo Park shows the spectacular scene of water wheels standing on both sides of the Yellow River. The ticket is free when I go there. This is also one of my favorite attractions.

By Watcher |

In addition to a large number of large water wheels, there are also many other types of physical models of water wheels, which come with text explanations and can be operated by yourself, giving you a full experience.

By Little Rabbit |

Due to the heavy rain some time ago, the core landscape of the Expo Park was completely blocked and renovated, so there were not many water trucks to be seen.

By I am a warm and refreshing stream |

The Waterwheel Expo Park, as the name suggests, is a place with many waterwheels. If you walk straight ahead from the Expo Park, you will reach Zhongshan Bridge.

By chrisnow |

The Waterwheel Expo Park is very small, and the waterwheels are very old. However, my daughter saw a sheepskin raft for the first time and found it quite novel.

By Footprints of the Great Forest |

Because the Yellow River flooded during the previous flood season, some of them were not open, which was a bit disappointing

By psyluo |

Located on the south bank of the Yellow River, it is a place where the water wheels of the past are recreated. Learn about the lifestyle of the ancients. The environment is quiet and many local residents come here for a walk. However, the Yellow River was flooded, and most of the parks were closed when I went there.

By Yaoqin |

I went there for unknown reasons, the water flooded the bank, and I could only watch from a distance.

By Light blue |

The principal told us that a lot of the water in this expo park is from the Yellow River, which is introduced by waterwheels and then diverted to various water-using places through pipes. It's fun! I recommend it! Nowadays, such ancient irrigation tools are rarely seen (not the kind of waterwheels used for decoration in parks), and there is nowhere to experience what "waterwheels turn water and the water stops when the wheel stops". This waterwheel expo park consists of three parts: the waterwheel park, the waterwheel square, and the cultural square. It is also suitable for a family to relax and unwind. It feels like a good place to go. Thumbs up.

By Three Bears |

It's a free attraction. I thought a few old water wheels wouldn't be able to do much, but I didn't expect the two children to have a lot of fun playing with them. They pushed water, pumped water with their feet, pumped water with hands, etc., which really made the children happy.

By Xiaoxiuer |

The Waterwheel Expo Park is a natural park with some waterwheel models and principle introductions. It is quite interesting to take the children to experience it.

By Water spinach |

The Waterwheel Expo Park is a 4A-level scenic spot with facilities suitable for adults and children to experience waterwheels, scenery suitable for taking photos, and places for rest and dining. It is worth a visit. The water level of the Yellow River has been very high this year, and it was closed for a period of time, but this year was an accident. It seems that it has not been closed for so many years.

By Stars and Silent Night |

You can see various water wheels and you can step on them yourself, which is quite interesting. It is next to the Yellow River, which is so yellow. Rafts float by from time to time.

By Singing on the Waves |

This waterwheel expo park is mainly to commemorate Duan Xu, a historical figure who introduced Jiangnan waterwheels to Lanzhou. When we went there, the Yellow River was flooded and a cordon was set up. We could only see a waterwheel at the entrance and a large waterwheel on the square. Some waterwheels on the riverside were not visible. For us tourists in the Yangtze River Basin, it was not surprising and not very interesting.

By Anna |

The Waterwheel Expo Park located by the Yellow River displays various waterwheels of different sizes. Visitors can personally participate in the experience. The combination of strength and skill not only makes people admire the wisdom of the ancients, but also makes people sigh for the hardships of agricultural irrigation at that time!

In addition to the waterwheel display, the park also shows people the old streets of Lanzhou. Imagine the streets with carriages and people walking around, the various authentic snacks steaming, and the shouts coming one after another with the unique ruggedness of the Northwest men.

Free waterwheel park. The waterwheel inside is still in operation, it is a double waterwheel. Unfortunately, the mill is not open, so I can't see the part where water power is used to grind.

The Waterwheel Expo Park is very large, and the Yellow River is truly yellow.

The waterwheel is being repaired. It looks old and no longer turns. Perhaps in this high-tech era, its irrigation function is no longer needed. It looks like it has been abandoned.

Next to the waterwheel is the Yellow River, and there are sheepskin rafts to ride on.

By _Changsheng brother_ |

A huge waterwheel stands by the Yellow River, and you can also experience some small waterwheels here, such as waterwheel mills and so on.

Along the Yellow River scenic area, the Yellow River flows eastward with great momentum, which is very spectacular.

There is a park along the Yellow River in Lanzhou, which has a large waterwheel and sheepskin rafts. The Yellow River looks turbulent, but when you take a sheepskin raft to the center of the Yellow River, you will feel its vastness.

There are many old waterwheels on the bank of the Yellow River. It's a good place to take your children to see them, and you can also learn more about them! Walking along the way, you can visit the Yellow River. We went there during the Spring Festival, the water was not big, and the weather was good! Free attractions!

As a free attraction in Lanzhou, this is quite good. The whole park is beautifully built, much better than the Lanzhou Waterwheel Park. There are many large and small waterwheels located in the park, next to the Yellow River. There are many tourists, so you can stroll around slowly.

It's too small. There are only two water wheels that don't work, so it's not worth calling an "exposition park". The souvenir shop is bigger than the main building. It's a good thing that they don't charge admission now, otherwise it would make people feel cheated.

There is a small park on the bank of the Yellow River. The water is diverted from the Yellow River. The waterwheel is stopped during the dry season. This is also one of the docks for sheepskin rafts.

The Waterwheel Expo Park is free of charge. It is a tourist park specially designed and built by the Lanzhou Tourism Bureau to reproduce this ancient irrigation tool. It reproduces the spectacular scene of waterwheels standing on both sides of the Yellow River more than 50 years ago. The Waterwheel Park is not very big and can be visited in more than ten minutes. The waterwheels inside basically do not rotate and are only for tourists to watch. I didn't plan a trip to Lanzhou, I just took the high-speed rail the next day, so I came early. This Expo Park is quite fun. I haven't seen such a big water wheel anywhere else. Children should like it more. The speedboat on the river is also quite cheap. It depends on the distance. It costs 10 to 50 round trip.

It will be open to the public for free from October 1, 2015. It can only be said that it is okay to visit it on the way, but it is just a 2A-level tourist attraction. Lanzhou "Waterwheel Park" is located at No. 524, Nanbinhe East Road, Chengguan District, Lanzhou City. It is about 300 to 500 meters away from Binhe Road. Lanzhou is a famous "waterwheel capital". 50 years ago, waterwheels stood on both sides of the Yellow River. They were the traditional ancient irrigation tools for irrigating fertile fields along the banks. In 2005, Lanzhou built a "Waterwheel Park" with the theme of waterwheel culture. The giant double-wheeled wooden waterwheel rotates slowly, using the water flow of the Yellow River to drive the waterwheel to rotate. The water bucket scoops the river water to the top of the waterwheel and pours it into the wooden trough. It continuously draws water from the Yellow River to irrigate the fields. This most primitive irrigation tool attracts tourists to watch and stop.
