Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty

The Nanyue King's Tomb was excavated in June 1983. The museum was built on the original site of the tomb, mainly displaying the original site and its unearthed cultural relics.
Among them, the "Silk Jade Suit" of the King of Nanyue is the earliest set of complete jade suits discovered in my country so far, and it is very rare.
The museum has an ancient tomb protection area and a comprehensive exhibition building, with 10 exhibition halls. The permanent exhibitions include cultural relics exhibition and porcelain pillow exhibition, as well as other irregular exhibitions.
The cultural relics exhibition is the main part of the museum, which displays more than 10,000 cultural relics unearthed from the tomb of Zhao Tuo, the King of Nanyue. The exhibition is divided into: Emperor Wen’s Golden Seal, Treasures in the Main Chamber, etc.

It was close to the hotel where I stayed and it happened to be a free day, so I took my children to have a look.

I went there early, so there were not many people. I didn't meet any guides, so I just took a quick look at the exhibition area at the entrance and went straight to the tomb of King Zhao Mo of Yue. The tomb is not big, but it is very complete. Because it is the eternal resting place of our ancestors, there were few visitors that day, so I didn't dare to stay for long. I looked around and left quickly.

The ticket price is not expensive, it is worth a visit.

The Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty was the first attraction selected in Guangzhou. The museum offers free guided tours every once in a while, and you can check the official website in advance. I had a lot of fun visiting it by myself, but my parents felt bored and ran downstairs early to wait for me.

The museum tour lasts about an hour, and you can learn a lot of historical knowledge. I won’t spoil too much, but the most interesting part of this kind of exhibition is probably listening to the stories.

This museum is built directly on the tomb of the Nanyue King. The ticket price is 2 yuan for New Year's Day. First, I went to a hall full of pillows on the second floor. I really admire the ancients. They can use such high and hard pillows. I would rather not use pillows like this. These pillows are all one person's collection and donated to the museum. Then there is a pavilion jointly built by the Chinese Character Museum and the Nanyue King Museum. This is a tortoise shell and bone used for divination, a magical thing. There is a mirror that can not only reflect people, but also show the patterns engraved on the back under the sun or parallel light. There is also a table for tourists to experience movable type printing in the museum. Paper is provided free of charge. I couldn't help but print two sheets. I hope other museums will also have more such fun projects. I was originally complaining about how I had visited two museums, all of which were donated or exhibited in cooperation with others. Why didn't I have anything special? I thought it was like the Guangdong Provincial Museum, and then I entered the exhibition area of the collection of the Nanyue King's Tomb. These collections are really beautiful, and they smell really good instantly. . . China's lead-barium glass, not soda-lime glass, is the earliest blue flat glass discovered in China recently. Wow, it turns out that our country has had glass so early, and the composition is different from that of foreign glass. The legendary Wushisan that can make people immortal. Amethyst, turquoise, ochre, realgar, sulfur... It was not easy in ancient times, and it was not easy to eat these things and survive. The silk thread jade suit, this is the first set of complete silk thread jade suit discovered so far. After seeing the collection, I went to the tomb pit to have a look. The tomb pit is quite small and a bit stuffy. I don’t want to stay in it for too long. The place is not big but so many cultural relics have been unearthed.

This is one of the three museums that you must visit no matter what attractions you visit. There are two free tours at around 10 am and around 3 pm respectively, so you can go at the right time.

The most unique thing about this museum is that it was built on the original site of the cemetery. Visitors can visit the restored tomb and walk into it in person!

This museum is divided into two parts, the ancient tomb and the museum of unearthed funerary objects. This museum is built in the typical style of the Qin and Han dynasties, simple and majestic. The tomb is built with 750 pieces of red sandstone, so this museum also reflects it, and red sandstone is also used for the exterior wall. I thought that a small museum should be finished quickly, but I didn't expect that the tomb of a small monarch would contain such a rich collection of funerary objects. On the way, I met a Singaporean tour group, followed the tour guide all the way, and it took about two hours to listen to the explanation. Compared with the tombs in the Central Plains, the tomb of the King of Nanyue is a small witch. The tomb passage is only ten meters long. The structure is clear and clear, and the main coffin chamber is in the middle. The east and west ear chambers are used to store things, the cooks and guards are buried in the west side chamber, and the five wives of Emperor Wen are buried in the east side chamber. Because the four wives did not have jade clothes, three have disappeared, and only one has a trace of bones on the ground. It feels that the King of Nanyue is still relatively friendly, without the cold feeling of other ancient tombs. After visiting the tomb of the King of Nanyue, go to the Museum of Unearthed Cultural Relics. One of the three treasures of the Nanyue King Museum is the Emperor Wen's Golden Seal, which is made of pure gold and contains up to 90% gold. In order to show respect for the deceased, no pictures of the jade clothes were taken. There were a total of 15 people buried with the Nanyue King, including four wives. It is unknown whether they were buried voluntarily or forced. The third treasure of the museum is the rhinoceros horn jade cup. Since ancient times, the rhinoceros horn cup has been called one of the three treasures along with the luminous wall and the bright moon pearl, and is the most precious wine vessel. Both rhinoceros horn and jade have the effect of detoxification, and can be detoxified while drinking. The last treasure is the dragon and phoenix double ring jade pendant, which has dragon and phoenix carvings on it. The dragon represents the emperor and the phoenix represents the queen. The symbol of the Nanyue King Museum is the dragon and phoenix double ring jade pendant. Next to it is a porcelain pillow donated by Mr. and Mrs. Yang Yongde. This is a Ru kiln porcelain, and there are less than 100 pieces left today.

The tomb of Zhao Tuo, the second king of the Nanyue Kingdom, was discovered in 1983. It is well preserved and is the largest Han Dynasty painted stone chamber tomb discovered in Lingnan. More than 10,000 cultural relics were unearthed in the tomb, which concentratedly reflected the politics, economy and culture of Lingnan two thousand years ago. The Tomb of the Nanyue King was one of the major archaeological discoveries in China in the 1980s and was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit in 1996. Among them, "Relics of the Nanyue Kingdom" and "Maritime Silk Road" were selected into the preliminary list of China's World Cultural Heritage. It can be said that the longest-standing cultural records in Guangdong are preserved here.

Although the exhibition hall was built on the basis of the tomb of the Nanyue King, in addition to displaying the ancient tomb and the corresponding collections, the complex building also displays many other themed collections. The overall scale is larger than expected and it is worth a visit. In terms of the overall exhibition layout and display level, the museum is at the leading level in China, and people will not feel that the funerary objects are boring.

Opposite Yuexiu Park. Ticket price: 12 yuan. Half-price ticket price: 5 yuan for seniors aged 65-69 and primary and secondary school students.

This is the tomb of Zhao Tuo, the second king of Nanyue, which was discovered in 1983. It is the largest and only Han Dynasty painted stone chamber tomb discovered in Lingnan. More than 10,000 cultural relics were unearthed in the tomb, including the "Emperor Wen's Seal" gold seal, jade horn cup, inlaid gold inscribed tiger knot, printed copper plate mold, flat glass copper plaque ornaments and other cultural relics with great historical, scientific and artistic value.

The museum is centered on the ancient tomb, built against the mountain, and consists of two parts: the tomb chamber and the exhibition building.

For details, please visit the official website: ***

If you have any taboos about the tomb, it is not recommended to enter the tomb. Just take a look at the exhibition building, there are many treasures.

We did enter the tomb chamber (I didn't take photos in the tomb chamber, nor did I touch it. I didn't dare. Haha). The tomb chamber is not big, with a construction area of about 100 square meters. It is built in the style of a yang house, facing north and south, with the front hall and the back bedroom. It is divided into two parts, front and back, separated by stone doors. The front part of the tomb is the front room, the east ear room, and the west ear room; the back part is the main coffin room, the east side room, the west side room and the back storage room. The tomb owner's burial utensils are a coffin and a coffin, placed in the middle of the main room.

Thinking about the 15 human sacrifices that were once buried here, I suddenly felt creepy.

This was the first stop of our trip to Guangzhou. We went there in the afternoon. There was a free guided tour at 3 o'clock. We were lucky enough to meet a very patient and detailed young man who gave us explanations, which made this museum trip particularly enjoyable. There was another free tour at 3:30, but it ended earlier than our 3 o'clock tour. It was obvious. I give a thumbs up to this young man!

It has always been listed as a must-visit place. It is right next to the hotel, which is even more convenient. I have a lot of ideas about his golden jade clothes. I was shocked when I saw the real thing, and I forgot to take pictures. There is also a text exhibition and a pillow exhibition, as well as an exhibition of the original tomb. The ticket price is really worth it! ! After all, it is only 12 yuan per ticket.

It's worth a visit, there are many historical and special things.

By Sheep think |

There is also a restored jade burial suit worn by the tomb owner in the exhibits. It is the earliest and only silk jade suit found in China so far. Unfortunately, when I went there, the original jade suit was loaned out for exhibition, and only a replica remained in its original place. It is a small pity that I didn't see the original one.

A must-visit for museum lovers in Guangzhou. There are free explanations at regular intervals. The jadeware is a must-see. The exhibition hall is a bit old but not bad.

By Thirteen pieces of dessert |

The museum built directly on the tomb is probably the biggest gimmick. The tomb is very small and low, which is a different experience.

The collection is worth a visit. Later I found that the Nanyue Han jade was also introduced in "If National Treasures Could Talk", which is equivalent to a check-in GET√

The museum is divided into two parts, the front and the back. The front part has three floors. The first floor is the service hall, and the second and third floors are special exhibition halls. After walking up the second and third floors, go up the stairs, turn left to the tomb of the King of Nanyue, and turn right to the display of the treasures of the King of Nanyue. The layout of the tomb is relatively small compared to several large tombs in the north. Although the tomb is relatively small, when you enter the treasure exhibition hall, you will find that the richness of the burial objects is no less than any large tomb in the north. First of all, the jade wares here are dazzling, and there are also many gold and bronze wares. In addition, there are silk jade clothes and some artifacts with some Lingnan characteristics. There is also the longest iron sword unearthed so far in this museum, but most of the artifacts mainly reflect the extravagant life of the King of Nanyue during his lifetime and the paradise he yearned for after his death. It is recommended to go to the tomb first and then see the exhibits. Play time: two to three hours

The Nanyue Kingdom was an independent kingdom in the south of the Five Ridges during the Qin and Han dynasties. Since it was not a mainstream dynasty in the Central Plains, there are very few introductions to it. This time, the Nanyue King's Tomb Museum recorded this mysterious dynasty in great detail, and was also shocked by the level of development of this dynasty at that time.

By Xiao Mochen |

Bring your student ID and you can enjoy the half price of 5 yuan. The first and second floors of the museum are not the places where the Nanyue King Museum is located. It houses some utensils and their unique civilizations left by remote tribes in China. After a rough look at the first two floors, we went straight to the top of the building to observe the cultural relics unearthed from the tomb of the Nanyue King. As one of the major archaeological discoveries in China in the 1980s, the Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty was extremely novel to me. With excitement, I began to explore it. Fortunately, we met the last wave of explanation teams, and we learned a lot of historical knowledge in the team. Among them, the "silk thread jade suit" worn by the Nanyue King impressed me the most. The glass cabinets were restored. After more than two thousand years of historical changes, the real jade suit was already in pieces when it was unearthed. With the efforts of experts from the Beijing Research Institute, it was restored to its original appearance, which is the "silk thread jade suit" we see today. There are thousands of collections, and I don't know which one to continue to talk about. If you have the opportunity, you can go to the Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty to really see it. I think it is very necessary!

I arrived at 9:30, waited obediently until 10 o'clock, and followed the tour guide to listen for an hour and a half.

From the structure of the tomb to the buried companions, from the burial objects to the daily necessities, the tour guide described everything in vivid detail. Compared with the Chen Clan Academy that I had a cursory tour of, today's visit was obviously more rewarding.

My favorite is the ancient barbecue stove with wheels. China’s food culture is profound and extensive!

Absolutely five stars. People who like history can go and have a look. It is worth it. The tomb is completely preserved and there are staff leading the explanation until the end. The whole process is free. The silk jade clothing is amazing. It is not the gold jade clothing but the silk jade clothing. I absolutely recommend this attraction in Guangzhou!!!! P.S. When I went there, it happened to be free. The ticket is only about 10 yuan. It is worth seeing. There are also many jade articles, swords, gold ornaments, etc. I have to go and have a look again if I have the chance. It takes about 2-2.5 hours to see it completely. . . . Everyone, guess which one is the treasure of the town? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

It's not the silk jade dress, but the cup that looks like a rhino horn.

It takes about 25 minutes to walk from the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall to the Nanyue King Museum. This museum is the most museum I have ever seen. It looks small from the outside, but it is a different world inside. If you are serious about it, you can spend a whole afternoon here. Moreover, this is the site of the Nanyue King's Tomb, where you can visit the real Nanyue King's Tomb. That is the Nanyue King in the golden jade burial suit.

The Museum of the King of Nanyue is worth visiting, which exceeded my expectations. I am quite interested in the museum, but there are not many guides online, so I just went there with the attitude of taking a look. The full ticket of the museum is 12 yuan per person. After entering, the first floor is the lobby, and there is an exhibition hall only after walking up the stairs. The main hall is the tomb of the King of Nanyue and the unearthed cultural relics. You can go into the tomb to have a look, which is indeed easy to have a deeper feeling. The exhibition of unearthed cultural relics is also very rich, and there are video explanations. You can watch a video of about three minutes first, and then you will have a clearer understanding of the overall structure and then return to watch the unearthed exhibition. The sub-hall on both sides of the stairs is currently exhibiting African sculptures and Chinese pillows, which can also be seen. There are commemorative cards that can be stamped, or you can bring your own notebook to stamp. When we went there, we didn't have enough time, so we just had a quick look. It is recommended that if you go, you can spend a little more time, about three hours.

This is a museum built on the original site of the tomb. You can go inside the tomb and see the overall structure of the tomb. The lower floors are some unearthed cultural relics. The museum is not big, but you can get a good understanding of everything from the tomb to the burial objects. There is also an episode in Xiaoshuo that talks about this tomb, which is very interesting.

The overall scale of the tomb is not large, but it is very well preserved and you can walk into the tomb chamber to have a look.

When I went there, I happened to encounter an exchange of cultural relics of Congolese tribal statues, which was very interesting.

The Tomb of the King of Nanyue in the Western Han Dynasty is located on Xianggang Mountain on Jiefang North Road in Guangzhou. It is the tomb of Zhao Tuo, the second king of the Nanyue Kingdom in the early Western Han Dynasty. Zhao Tuo was the grandson of Zhao Tuo, known as Emperor Wen, and reigned from 137 BC to 122 BC.

The tomb was discovered in June 1983. After the excavation, the Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty was established on the original site. It is a national key cultural relic protection unit.

During the excavation in 1983, among the unearthed cultural relics were a "Gold Seal of Emperor Wen" and a "Zhao Xuan" jade seal, proving the identity of the tomb owner. The excavation of the tomb of King Wen of Nanyue is hailed as one of the five major archaeological discoveries in modern China.

Guangzhou has a history of thousands of years since the Western Han Dynasty.

Don't think this is just a royal tomb. Since it is a museum, there are many cultural relics on display. Moreover, it is different from other museums. The environment is still very elegant. There is a floor with a game area for children. I went there many years ago and I don't remember how much the ticket was. I don't know if the price has increased now, but it is worth a visit.

A very distinctive museum. You can go down to the tomb chamber to visit (although it is not big). There are many exhibits inside, including jade artifacts, gold seals, etc.

The Tomb of the King of Nanyue broke my previous concept of the priceless tombs of royal nobles. Maybe such a scale was amazing at the time, but after actually going in and seeing it, I really have to think like this...?! This is the emperor's tomb...?

It's worth going to break the old ideas. It's not gloomy inside and you don't have to worry about what will happen after you go there. However, you must pay with cash for tickets. I went there in 2016 and I don't know if it's more advanced now.

The museum is divided into two parts, the front part has three floors in total. The first floor is the service hall, and the second and third floors are special exhibition halls. When we visited, it happened to be the exhibition of ancient architectural funerary objects and porcelain pillows. The exhibits were mainly from the Han Dynasty. The ancient Chinese always paid attention to the life after death. These funerary objects mainly reflect the houses and warehouses where the tomb owners lived during their lifetime, reflecting some of the living conditions in the Han Dynasty at that time.

After visiting the second and third floors, go up the stairs and turn left to reach the tomb of the King of Nanyue, and turn right to see the treasures of the King of Nanyue. The museum recommends that you visit the tomb first and then look at the exhibits. The layout and scale of the tomb are relatively small compared to several large tombs in the north.

Although the tomb chamber is relatively small, when you enter the treasure exhibition hall you will find that the richness of the burial objects is no less than any large tomb in the north. First of all, the jade wares here are dazzling, and there are also a large number of gold and bronze wares. In addition, there are silk jade clothes and some utensils with Lingnan characteristics. The longest iron sword unearthed so far is also in this museum. However, most of the artifacts mainly reflect the luxurious life of the King of Nanyue during his lifetime and the paradise he longed for after his death. In short, it is still worth a visit.

It is worth seeing, especially the various jade artifacts unearthed from the tomb, which are exquisite and ingenious. The museum not only includes the tomb site of King Wen of Nanyue and various jade, pottery and bronze artifacts unearthed from the tomb, but also has a porcelain pillow exhibition donated by Mr. Yang Yongde on the second floor, which includes treasures from Ding kiln and Ru kiln.

Opposite Yuexiu Park is the Museum of the King of Nanyue in the Western Han Dynasty. This is also the site of the Nanyue King's Tomb. The museum introduces the history of the Nanyue period in the Western Han Dynasty. There is a screening room on the first floor, which plays documentaries in a loop, and various exhibition halls upstairs.

By Who am I? |

When we came, the museum had free guides to lead us around the museum and give detailed explanations. I remember it was about 10 o'clock at that time. It was originally scheduled for the curator to come and explain to us, but the curator had something to do, so he called a female guide to lead us. Although we were very interested in this museum, it is really not friendly to the elderly. There is no elevator, and it is all very long and high stairs.

The whole museum can actually be divided into two parts, one is the tomb chamber and the other is the exhibition hall. The tomb chamber is actually very small and it is very crowded when people walk in. This is different from some other museums in China. Here you can touch the history up close and feel the ancients' care and carefulness in preventing tomb robbery and burial objects. Of course, when the guide led us to explain, the crowd rushed into the narrow tomb chamber, and even people couldn't pass through. I was really worried that the tomb chamber would collapse. However, the tomb chamber has also been reinforced, so there should be no problem.

The most famous treasure of the museum is the famous Silk Jade Clothes (I don't know why I always think of the Golden Jade Clothes). This dress is made of silk and jade pieces. However, we came at a bad time this time. Most of the exhibits in this museum were "traveling" - in the words of the tour guide - that is, most of the authentic ones went to the Hainan Museum for "friendly exchanges". So most of the precious exhibits we saw this time were imitations. We finished visiting this museum in about an hour and a half. The interior is actually quite large, and it was quite tiring to visit.

The red brick wall outside the museum is a very obvious feature.

After entering the museum, go straight to the left side of the third floor, the original site of the tomb. The top area of the tomb is really small.

After watching for a while, we heard the broadcast saying that the free tour at 10:30 would start soon, so we went to the first floor to gather and wait for the tour. The tour started from the tomb, but the place was narrow and there were many people listening to the tour. I couldn't hear clearly until I got close, so I decided to give up and tour on my own.

A large part of the collection in the front of the museum are jade pendants and jade belt buckles worn by the King of Nanyue and his wives at that time. They are really exquisite, and the craftsmanship is not backward even in modern times.

Not long after I admired the jade pendant, the team led by the commentator caught up with me. Coincidentally, the number of people in the team had been greatly reduced, so I decisively joined and listened to the entire commentary that followed.

In general, the museum's collections are worth seeing, but of course if you want to see them interestingly, you need to listen to the explanations.

The site is open to visitors, and some traces of remains can be seen. Five people were found buried alive in the tomb. The Tomb of the King of Nanyue is the earliest, largest, and most richly endowed ancient tomb of the early Han Dynasty discovered in Lingnan as of 2017. It is also the only painted stone chamber tomb built entirely of stone and the first to feature murals.

There are actually many treasures in the museum, but my photography skills were limited, so many of my photos turned out blurry. I hope everyone has the opportunity to visit the museum themselves.

I walked around and found it was unexpectedly big. It took me more than an hour. It's free to visit, bring your ID card to get a ticket.

The environment is nice.

The ticket to the Nanyue King's Tomb Museum is 12 yuan, and the discounted ticket during the Spring Festival is 10 yuan per person. It is opposite the Five Goats Sculpture. The museum is located on the original site of the tomb. You can enter the tomb chamber to visit, and there are many exhibitions of funerary objects. In addition, there is also an exhibition of Jizhou Kiln. Generally speaking, it is worth a visit. You can learn about it before you go. There will be explanations at regular intervals. I forgot the details. There will be a free explanation at 3:30 pm. Because it was 3 o'clock when I went, I didn't want to wait so I went around by myself.

The Museum of the Tomb of the King of Nanyue is located on Xianggang Mountain in the north of Guangzhou. It is the tomb of Zhao Mei, the second king of the Nanyue Kingdom. It is one of the earliest stone chamber tombs in China. The tomb has three chambers, front, middle and back. On both sides of the front chamber are the east and west ear chambers for placing chariots and eating utensils. The coffin of the tomb owner Zhao Xun is placed in the middle chamber. The side chambers on both sides of the middle chamber are buried with the sacrificial victims, and the back chamber is also filled with burial objects. This is one of the earliest stone chamber tombs discovered in my country. The tomb structure generally imitates the structure of the tombs of princes in the early Western Han Dynasty, but it is also very different from the Lingnan characteristics of the Central Plains. For example, the coffin of the tomb owner is placed in the atrium, not in the back chamber like the Central Plains Han tombs. The atrium of the Central Plains Han tombs is generally an altar. For example, the black dragon pattern decoration on the door of the tomb is also different from the tombs of princes in the Han Dynasty at that time. There were 15 sacrificial victims buried in this tomb. Burying people with dead bodies was a barbaric and backward system that disappeared in the Central Plains, Qi and Lu, Yan and Zhao, the Three Jins, and Chu in the late Spring and Autumn Period, and in the Qin and Wuyue in the early Warring States Period. It reflects that the social development of the Nanyue Kingdom at that time still had deep remnants of slavery and was backward compared to the Central Plains. Many precious cultural relics were unearthed from the tombs. The scenic spot is free to visit with a tour guide certificate. More than 2,000 exquisite cultural relics were unearthed. Among the exhibits in the museum, there are the earliest silk jade clothes among the complete jade clothes in China, the earliest flat blue glass fired by China itself, the gold seal of the Nanyue King "Emperor Wen Xing Xi" (the earliest imperial seal in China), the world's earliest silk printing and dyeing tools, and more than 300 jade carvings and bronzes with unique local characteristics.

It is a good opportunity to learn about the history of ancient Guangzhou. The original tomb site was built and protected, and the unearthed burial objects are very exquisite. The permanent pillow exhibition is also worth a closer look. The location is also relatively easy to find, just opposite the Five Goats Sculpture. You can combine the tour. Arrange two hours to visit carefully. Volunteers will give explanations regularly in the museum.

The tomb itself is not big, with only the main tomb chamber and the east and west chambers. There is not much to see, but it is interesting to learn about the mechanism of a tomb door. The main thing is to visit the burial objects, which are very rich, covering all areas of food, clothing, housing and transportation, and you can get a glimpse of the historical knowledge and living conditions of the time.

The collection is quite interesting, and the design of the tomb tour is also quite good.

The Tomb of the King of Nanyue is better to visit with some historical knowledge, otherwise there is nothing to see.

The museum was built on the original site of the tomb of Zhao Mei, the King of Nanyue in the Western Han Dynasty. It mainly exhibits cultural relics unearthed from the tomb. It is very distinctive. It is just opposite Yuexiu Park and is worth a visit. The ticket price is 12 yuan.

By Demo on the way (BJ) |

It is located a little north of the west gate of Yuexiu Park. The ticket is 12 yuan. I walked around it for more than an hour without stopping. If I wanted to see it in detail, it would probably take more than 2 hours.

The first exhibition hall is the one that introduces ancient pillows. It is a special exhibition of ceramic pillows donated by Mr. and Mrs. Yang Yongde, with more than 400 ceramic pillows. There is a robot introducing each exhibit, which is quite funny. It can move to different exhibits and start introducing them.

There are all kinds of porcelain pillows in various shapes, including dolls and monsters. I feel that people's heads were very hard in ancient times, and the pillows were very high. Don't they get stiff necks when they sleep? After visiting the pillow language, we arrived at the tomb of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty. You can first visit the tomb chamber. The tomb chamber is actually not big, but you can go down to the bottom of the tomb chamber. There are several rooms in the tomb chamber. In fact, there is nothing left, but there are not many tomb chambers that parents and children can walk down. Another building behind the tomb chamber is his collection exhibition area. First, the jade seal is worth seeing. Although it is very small, there is an enlarged version here to see the details. The tomb owner's is a silk jade suit. Of course, this is not the real thing. The real thing is in the Provincial Museum.

By China-TravelNote users |

There is a luggage storage service and WeChat voice explanation. The appearance of the tomb is very grand, and the exhibition hall has a layered layout. It echoes the Yuexiu Park opposite. The only flaw is that while watching the exhibition, I found a problem and questioned the staff, hoping to improve it. In the preface of the first part of the second floor, the place name "Siliben" mentioned in a route should be "Lisbon". I hope that the 4a-level scenic spot can take history seriously.

It is worth a visit, but there are too many people during holidays. You can try to get tickets in the morning. Tickets are usually 10 yuan. There are two time periods for voluntary explanations in the morning and afternoon. You can also scan the WeChat number on the brochure to automatically reply to the corresponding number of the collection. The explanation is very considerate. It takes two hours to visit. The tomb is not big, but it is also a historical relic. It is also very good to be able to get so close to it.

The Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King is worth a visit. There are many cultural relics on display. After taking a look around the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King, you can gain a lot of knowledge.

The Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty is located at No. 867 Jiefang North Road, Guangzhou.

The Museum of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Dynasty, which was officially opened to the public in 1988, has a construction area of more than 17,400 square meters. It mainly displays the original site of the Nanyue King's Tomb and its unearthed cultural relics. The museum is built on the mountain with the ancient tomb as the center. It organically connects the comprehensive exhibition building, the ancient tomb protection area, and the main exhibition building with several different sequences of space, highlighting the collective style of the site museum. It is a brilliant representative of modern architecture in Lingnan and has won six domestic and international architectural awards. The museum also has a special display of ceramic pillows donated by Mr. and Mrs. Yang Yongde and irregular temporary exhibitions. The museum currently has more than 400 ceramic pillows, which were made from the Tang Dynasty to the Republic of China, mainly from the Song Dynasty and the Jin Dynasty. The large number, fine quality, and wide range of kilns are rare among similar collections in China.

It's a great and magical place. I took my children to visit. The weather was very hot, and the air conditioning in the museum was quite good. Great! I communicated with the beautiful girl from the museum and talked about the funeral regulations of the Han Dynasty and the Han Tomb in Mancheng, Hebei, which I had visited before. Seeing that my children and I were very interested, she also gave me a book printed by the museum on the history and tomb regulations of the King of Nanyue. It is a very interesting book and I recommend everyone to buy it. The book explains in detail the regulations of the Han Dynasty, the history of the separatist rule of the Nanyue Kingdom, the legend of the excavation of the tomb, and the local customs and habits of Guangzhou. The most important thing is that the tomb has not been looted for more than 2,000 years. The treasures inside are all displayed in the museum. There are a large number of treasures such as Heshi Bi, jade, gold, etc., which appear in piles, which is enough to show the high regulations of the tomb of the King of Nanyue. It is highly recommended to visit with children, especially in hot summer. The entire museum is built on a hill. You climb up the stairs to first visit the cemetery regulations, then visit the excavated treasures, and then return to the tube below to visit the porcelain pillows and the Guangzhou navigation and port history exhibition. The seal section is not to be missed, which shows the museum's intentions in cultural and creative industries. Thumbs up!

ps: The beautiful girl in the picture is a volunteer tour guide. She explained in great detail. I forgot to ask for her WeChat 😄

I would like to give the Nanyue King Tomb Museum an 85 out of 100 rating. The tomb site and the museum of funerary objects are built together and well preserved. The collection is rich, especially the Han Dynasty jades. Most of them are extremely exquisite and delicate objects, and there are several similar ones that I have never seen in any museum I have visited so far.

Although the text introduction is not long, it is practical. It introduces the various combinations and uses of funerary jade objects, and the explanation videos and pictures are relatively detailed.

At a certain time, staff members will explain one by one, which is very lively and interesting. It attracts a large number of visitors. In order to save time for taking photos, I can only avoid them, otherwise I still want to listen carefully.

The disadvantage is that the lighting is not set up well, it is too dark, and the photos are not clear. The background cloth is red and yellow, and the color is biased in the photos. Some display cabinets feel that there is a lot of white fog on the glass. I don’t know if it is because the rag is not clean. Finally, there is a problem that most museums have. The fingerprints left by the visitors on the glass are not wiped off in time... It really affects the clarity. I also hope that everyone will not put their hands on the glass when they go to the museum in the future, and don’t put their faces so close to the glass, and all the hair oil will be left on it😂😂😂

I bought a pass that allows me to visit Zhenhai Tower, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and here within half a year. It costs 25 yuan, which is 3 yuan cheaper than buying them separately.

The exterior walls of the museum are lined with red sandstone because the stone chamber of the tomb of Emperor Wen of Nanyue was mainly made of red sandstone.

On the second floor, there is an exhibition of porcelain pillows donated by Mr. and Mrs. Yang Yongde. There are many kinds of pillows, with animals, words, and many shapes. Most of them are probably folk items, so they still feel a bit rough.

Follow the sign and you will reach the Tomb of the Nanyue King. The tomb is divided into east and west side chambers, east and west side chambers, front chamber, main coffin chamber and back storage chamber. The doorway is relatively small. Of course, the unearthed cultural relics have been transferred to the exhibition room next to it. There are some cattle, sheep and pig bones in the west side chamber, and the remaining bones of Mrs. Zuo in the east side chamber. They are black and similar to the soil and gravel in the fields. No matter how beautiful Mrs. Zuo was at that time, she eventually returned to dust.

Exiting the tomb chamber, there is a fort on the right hand side, named Gongji, which was built on the top of Xianggang in the tenth year of Shunzhi. In the early 1980s, the top of Xianggang was lowered by 17 meters to build an apartment. The tomb of the King of Nanyue was accidentally discovered, and the fort is still preserved.

Walking inside is the exhibition hall of unearthed cultural relics. Because this tomb is the one with the most unearthed cultural relics and the greatest archaeological harvest among the Han tombs in Lingnan area, there are many jade articles, gold seals, blue flat glass, chime bells and chime stones, weapons, etc. Especially the jade containers, it is said that only 10 to 20 Han Dynasty jade containers have been unearthed in the country, and there are 5 of them here. Unfortunately, the silk jade clothing is a replica.

After the visit, return along the original route.

I was lucky enough to catch the 2:30 lecture, which was great. A museum is only interesting if it has a lecture, otherwise it would be just a show. With the lecture, I learned a little about the local culture and history. What is worth mentioning about this museum is that you can go down to the tomb passage to visit. This was my first time to visit the tomb passage. The tomb passage was smaller than I thought, but it should have been considered a relatively high-standard tomb during the Qin Dynasty.

It's a very attentive museum. I can't help but sigh at the completeness of the things. I think this museum is very organized and suitable for primary school students. There are many small animations that can arouse people's interest. I like it very much.

I learned about the Nanyue King's Tomb when I saw a photo of the gate of the Nanyue King's Tomb Museum on WeChat Moments, and I have been fascinated by it ever since. It is located at Exit E of Yuexiu Park Subway Station, turn right.

The ticket is 10 yuan. The museum is not big but very exquisite. On the second floor is the exhibition of Zhongshan Kingdom in Dingzhou, Hebei. The King of Yue’s surname is Zhao and his ancestral home is Dingzhou, Hebei. Both of them are kings and have inextricable connections, so they are exhibited together, which also strengthened my motivation to go to Hebei.

I arrived at the museum before 3pm. There was a free tour at 3pm. Although it was free, the quality was absolutely not compromised. The whole process took about an hour. After the tour guide finished the tour, I walked around by myself. So many cultural relics were excavated from the small tomb of the King of Nanyue. It is worthy of being a famous city with a history of 2,300 years. I did not take pictures at the cemetery. I only took pictures of the words written with the unearthed ink balls at the end. The ink color was very beautiful, as if more than 2,000 years of time and space intersected and merged on this piece of paper. It was so wonderful...

A good place to escape the heat in summer

There seems to be a large tomb next to it.

I ignored it and didn't go in.

I recommend it to friends who are visiting Guangzhou. It is unexpectedly large inside! I originally planned to visit it in 40 minutes, but it took more than two hours.

There are ruins, restored scenes, and exhibition halls. In short, it is worth going~

There will be free explanations at different times. If you want to listen to the explanations, pay attention to the broadcast announcements. You can also rent an explanation device at the door for 10 yuan per time.

In many major places, you can scan the WeChat QR code and the explanation will be sent to your mobile phone. WeChat is free.

Recommended! It's fun and informative~
