The transportation to the ancient town is quite convenient. After exiting Exit B of Shiqiao Subway Station, turn right and you will reach the Baiyue Square bus stop. Many buses pass through the ancient town. Get off at Shawan South Village or Shawan Ancient Town South Gate Station and you will reach the ancient town in a short while, which is more than 30 minutes' drive.

Shawan Ancient Town is now open to the public for free, but the three attractions in the ancient town, namely the He's Ancestral Hall, Sanmin Hall, and Academician He Binglin Memorial Hall, are charged, and the combined ticket price is 20 yuan. To go to Shawan Ancient Town, you must first take the subway to Shiqiao, Panyu District, and then transfer to Panyu City Bus. At Shiqiao, take Panyu 6, Panyu 7, Panyu 12, and Panyu 67 to the Cultural and Sports Center or Liugengtang Station, and then walk to Shawan Ancient Town. (3) There are many delicacies in the ancient town. The time-honored brands include Shawan Cow Queen, Qinfangyuan, Dandan Wonton Noodles, Zhenyi, Yuji Jun'an Fish Cake, etc. It is recommended to eat ginger milk and double skin milk at Shawan Cow Queen. Other foods are optional.

(4) The ancient town is quite large. If you don’t have enough time, you can directly visit several core attractions in the ancient town, which can be completed within 3 hours;

The most famous place in Shawan Ancient Town is the He's Ancestral Hall - Liugeng Hall. Liugeng Hall was built in 1275. It is said that it has been expanded and restored several times and is the oldest and most exquisitely crafted ancestral hall in Panyu District. It was only in the evening when I arrived at the ancient town, and it was already closing time, otherwise it would have been nice to visit it.

The outskirts of the ancient town are more commercialized, and there are some memorial halls to visit inside. If you have enough time, you can come here for a walk. If you don’t have time, there is no need to come here specifically.

The tourist map makes it easy to identify the direction. There are three east-west main streets connected by north-south alleys. You can refer to the recommended routes on the map and go shopping according to your interests.

Walking along the main street, you will reach the ancient town area. Compared with other ancient towns in Guangdong, the commercial atmosphere here is still stronger.

Since I did some research before coming here, I didn't buy tickets for the only place worth visiting, Liugengtang. I'm not an artistic person, so eating and shopping here is enough for me.

Food: If you come here, you might as well try [Shawan Milk Queen]. This store is quite famous. The store sells a variety of desserts and sweet soups. The order is placed quickly and the food is served quickly. Only cash is accepted. I immediately ordered a bowl of snowball double skin milk, but unfortunately the vanilla-flavored snowball covered the original milk flavor of the double skin milk. I also ordered a cup of chocolate stewed milk, and the milk flavor was still strong.



Comments: In fact, it is enough to just walk around and eat and feel the atmosphere of the ancient town. This place has Lingnan characteristics, not many people, not much commercial atmosphere, and it feels very simple and comfortable. It is a good place for weekend leisure and entertainment.

Generally speaking, it is a well-preserved building complex, which is definitely a must-see for those who love Hutongs! ! Just walk around, and you will see the scenery everywhere. The ancient town is not big, but there are many ancestral halls. If you are interested, there are still many things to see. You need to buy tickets for the above three museums separately (the ancient town itself does not need tickets). The online pass includes Liugeng Hall and Yanqing Hall.

How should I put it? Maybe I am not interested in ancestral hall culture. I personally don’t recommend this place. It is quite commercialized and the place is very small. If you don’t stay in Guangzhou for a long time, you can ignore this attraction.

There is nothing special about the outside, just a lot of snack shops. It is more interesting to walk into the alley.
