Zhuhai Yuanmingyuan

The New Yuanming Garden is based on the buildings of Beijing's Old Summer Palace before it was burned down. It was built in a 1:1 ratio with 18 of the 40 scenes of the Old Summer Palace. It is divided into three major scenic areas: the Royal Buildings, the Jiangnan Garden Buildings, and the Western Buildings, which reproduce the prosperity of the Qing Dynasty.
The central axis of the park is composed of the Zhengda Guangming Hall, Jiuzhou Qingyan, Pengdao Yaotai and other landscapes. There are more than ten Chinese Jiangnan garden architectural landscapes around the lake. In addition, there are theater performances such as "Dream Back to the Old Summer Palace", which combine explosions, horse racing and other elements, which are worth seeing.

The New Yuanmingyuan was built based on the old appearance of Beijing's Old Summer Palace, with a one-to-one ratio, and a dozen scenes were carefully selected to restore it. It is the style of Old Summer Palace, but it is still quite strange to see the palm trees and southern atmosphere that are common in Zhuhai in the garden, haha.

It is free to enter the park, but there are many paid performances, as well as people wearing ancient costumes to take photos, which makes it feel very commercial, not very good, as if they are enclosing a piece of land for business.

I went there specially, but it was not interesting. There were a lot of people, but there was nothing to see after walking around. If the weather is good, I can take my children there to bask in the sun and treat it as a visit to the park.

Yuanming New Garden. Maybe it's because we have all been to cities with deep historical heritage such as Beijing, Kaifeng and Xi'an. This historical palace in an open coastal city can't really give us a sense of shock. In the hall, people are either taking photos or setting up stalls to sell souvenirs. The scenery by the lake is plain, as if you are walking along the West Lake in Fuzhou. Many places have introduced this as the first attraction in Zhuhai. The tickets are also quite expensive, which should be attributed to the high prices in Zhuhai.

By Yingzi candy |

There's no need to go there if you want to see the scenery. It's actually just an amusement park with many rides. Forget about the buildings, they're shabby and have no aesthetic appeal.

By Visitors |

It is the only building in the country that imitates the Old Summer Palace. Although it is not big, the scenery is nice and it is worth a visit.

By Zhuhai Tourism |

The 4A used to cost hundreds of dollars. Now it's free. Not bad.

By Early morning peace |

It's nice to take a walk after get off work. The scenery is nice and it's a good place to take pictures of ancient costumes

It's just so-so! It's ok to see the scenery!!!

Except for the Western Building, which is worth visiting, the rest is no different from ordinary parks. It depends on your travel time.

Yuanming New Garden was built in the image of Yuanmingyuan in Beijing, but on a smaller scale.

By North Star |

Take a bus to Gongbei. From Danzhou to Gongbei, you pass by. It is quite big and does not require tickets. It is a garden.

By Old pipe |

The New Yuanming Garden is based on the architecture of the Old Summer Palace in Beijing before it was burned down. It selects 18 scenic spots from the 40 scenic spots in the Old Summer Palace and builds them at a 1:1 ratio. Although they are all imitation scenes, you can still feel the grandeur of the royal garden.

By China-TravelNote users |

I've been to Beijing, but I feel the commercial atmosphere is too strong here! There's nothing to see. If you don't pass by here and take a look, you won't come here a second time.

The peony and cherry blossom exhibition at Yuanmingyuan this year is very beautiful, and it is worth the trip! Photos are proof!

What the hell... a replica park... forget it since it's free now...

By Zheng Sanding |

The New Yuanmingyuan is built in a 1:1 ratio based on some of the scenes of China's famous Old Summer Palace. It is now one of the ten scenic spots in Zhuhai. Tickets are currently free, but normal admission fees are required after 6 pm. The performance venue is separated from the scenic area, and related programs still require a fee.

By Weekly |

There is an antique city next to it, which is ok. The New Yuanmingyuan is just a copycat. It is completely different from the Old Summer Palace in Beijing. The one in Beijing is a ruins park, while the one in Zhuhai is modeled after the Forbidden City, and there is even a palace where the emperor held court.

By Jiangzhou Sima |

Free attractions, some buildings are well restored, but it feels more like a people's park

By yichen |

No tickets are required, it's free. There are carp and lotus in the pond. I didn't see any other imitation scenic spots.

By Little Gentleman@ |

The scenery is nice. The attic and Yuanzhong Lake are beautiful. The flowers on the back mountain are particularly beautiful. You can feel the autumn here. It is suitable for walking and leisure on holidays.

By One minute |

Inside are buildings that were built to resist the Qing Dynasty. The Zhengda Guangming Hall and the Jiuzhou Qingyan Scenic Area are solemn and square in layout, reflecting the royal style or showing the otherworldly temperament of the beauties in the harem. The yellow colored glaze is majestic; the green colored glaze is full of vitality.

By Martian User |

Yuanmingyuan, one of the must-see attractions in Zhuhai. Haha!

By Scotte |

As a Cantonese who has never been out of the province, it is really nice to have a place like this, even if it is a replica.

There were quite a few tourists that day and it was quite lively.

When I came back from the trip and sorted out the photos, I found that the photos I took casually also looked beautiful. [For details of all the photos I took casually, please see my second travel note "Zhuhai | Yuanmingyuan"]

History should not be forgotten and art should be preserved.

If the Old Summer Palace had been preserved to this day, how luxurious would it be?

However, when I went out to play that day, I walked so carelessly.

Apart from these traces of the Old Summer Palace, it is just an ordinary park.

In fact, it is not difficult to find that many places in Yuanmingyuan are dilapidated and many places are also under repair.

Free admission is a very important reason for the loss of ticket revenue as funding.

After the New Yuanmingyuan has lost its former bustle, I very much hope that it will not be abandoned, and I also hope that tourists will cherish it. After all, it is now a free garden-style park.

If I lived nearby, I would still like to go there often.

By Memory¥travel? |

It's OK. I went there on November 1st. No tickets were required. The palace in front is OK.

By Come |

I came all the way from Guangxi to see the New Yuanmingyuan, but the most classic Western-style building was fenced off for a dinosaur festival, and they charged 25 yuan for tickets. Is this an infringement of the legitimate rights and interests of the people? Is this an infringement of state-owned assets? I really want to call and complain!

By Recaumi |

I feel like it's a palace and a park. There's no entrance fee, so it's nice to go there.

The New Yuanming Garden was officially completed and opened to the public on February 2, 1997. It is located at the foot of Shilin Mountain on Jiuzhou Avenue in Zhuhai, covering an area of 1.39 square kilometers. It was built based on the original of Beijing Old Summer Palace, with 18 scenes selected from the 40 scenes of the Old Summer Palace at a 1:1 ratio. It invested 600 million yuan and is one of the first AAAA-level scenic spots in China. The New Yuanming Garden integrates classical royal buildings, Jiangnan classical garden buildings and Western buildings, recreating the Old Summer Palace for tourists.

The New Yuanmingyuan integrates the classical royal buildings and the fantasy of Jiangnan classical gardens, with fairy mountains and pavilions scattered around Fuhai. According to the meaning of "Xu Fu is seeking in the sea", the East Lake was named Fuhai. It was a good place for the emperor and his concubines to swim, watch dragon boats and fireworks. It was the center of water activities in the Old Summer Palace. Fuhai in the New Yuanmingyuan reproduces this scene, plus the dragon boat parade performances of the emperors and empresses.

A large park modeled after the Old Summer Palace is now open to the public free of charge. It contains some facilities for visitors, and several Western-style buildings appear to be well-replicated and look quite realistic.

By Argentina |

[Yuanming New Garden] is more like a larger municipal park, with a playground inside. Some buildings are modeled after the Old Summer Palace, but the overall management is poor, and the majority of people there are elderly citizens walking. If you have time, you can go and take a look, but you don't have to go there deliberately.

By Yi |

Do you feel like you have traveled back to the Qing Dynasty when you see this photo?! In fact, it was already late, but the sky in the photo taken with the micro single-lens camera was more beautiful than the actual sky.

I went there on May Day. There were so many people, everyone. It was okay inside, but there weren't that many things to see.

By Hub |

It's pretty average. Although it's free, there's nothing special about it. The items are also very old. It's like an abandoned place with no one managing it. The quality of the people needs to be improved. There's a small "wishing pool" with a small card stuck in it.

Zhuhai and Macau had just been hit by strong winds and waves, so the New Yuanming Palace was still recovering at that time.

By Lady Zhou |

The New Yuanming Garden, which is themed on Qing culture and is known as "the only royal garden in southern China", is like a bright pearl inlaid in the "romantic city" - Zhuhai. It covers an area of 1.39 square kilometers, surrounded by mountains on the east, west and north, and flat and open on the south. It has convenient transportation and elegant scenery. It is a large tourist attraction in Zhuhai. It is one of the first batch of 4A tourist attractions in the country, a patriotism education base in Guangdong Province, and one of the top ten tourist attractions in Guangdong Province. With its unique cultural connotation, it has become a must-visit place in Zhuhai.

By exquisite |

You can stroll around if you have time, but it is not recommended. The commercial atmosphere is too strong and there are too many people. If you charge during the day, I guess you will be scolded.

By |

It's a place where you can take photos in ancient costumes. They first tell you a low price of 80 per person, then add false eyelashes and headdresses and you have to pay another 50. Then they slowly ask you to pay more. Finally, after you choose the photos, they tell you that the photos you paid 80 for are very small and can't be seen clearly after development. The ones that can be seen clearly cost 150. In the end, the so-called 80 becomes 200.

Then there are the boat rides, tour buses, etc. It doesn't matter if you spend money on travel, because you don't mind spending 30 or 50 bucks when you go out, but I really don't like the feeling of being cheated.

I had read the warning from a friend on China-TravelNote and avoided the traps in the Stone Museum.

The scenery itself is okay, but I was deceived and lost my mood. It is recommended to introduce more about the Old Summer Palace, so that children can learn more.

By Maoshi |

The New Yuanming Garden is very nice and does a good job of restoring history. It is a place worth visiting.

It's OK. I went there in January. It was windy and a bit cold. There were not many people and the environment was beautiful.

This place is not big and can be visited in an afternoon. If you like history and culture, you can go and have a look. Some of its projects cost money, but the entrance ticket is free. Sometimes there are activities. The Light Festival is Halloween, and there is a water park next to it.

Located at the foot of Shilin Mountain on Jiuzhou Avenue in Zhuhai, it was built in a 1:1 ratio based on the original draft of Beijing's Old Summer Palace (I have been to Beijing many times but have never been to the Old Summer Palace, so I didn't have much feeling after seeing the New Yuanming Garden, and it is very commercialized. I feel that commercialization has become a major feature of contemporary Chinese tourist attractions)

Yuanming New Garden is a modern term for "ancient costumes in new plays". It allows you to travel through time and take photos and stroll around in such a grand place for free! The air is fresh, the trees are lush, and all the antique buildings are well-arranged. They are all built according to the ancient sites of Beijing Yuanming New Garden. Although they are not antiques, you can still see the carefulness of the builders. The fine work and gorgeous color matching of the paintings on the beams are no less than other ancient sites! From the past to free, it is still worth seeing!

The New Yuanming Garden was built based on the original Beijing Old Summer Palace, with 18 of the 40 scenes of the Old Summer Palace selected at a 1:1 ratio. It integrates classical royal buildings, Jiangnan classical garden buildings and Western buildings to reproduce the Old Summer Palace. The Great Wall of the New Yuanming Garden was built at a 1:2 ratio to imitate the ancient Great Wall of Beijing, starting from Nanhai Pass and ending at the top of Guochao Mountain. There are many beacon towers along the way, offering a panoramic view of Zhuhai City and Macau.

By Donald Duck's uncle |

Free admission! It's still okay to go there to relax! Walk around the lake, the scenery is still more interesting than the general park! There is also a cafe and archery hall

By creasylai19 |

It was built to imitate the Old Summer Palace, but I personally feel that it has completely lost the flavor of the Old Summer Palace. There are Qing Palace performances inside (this is charged), and there are not many other attractions worth seeing. Many people take photos in the "Qianqing Palace". You can rent imperial costumes and sit on the dragon chair and someone will take photos for you. There are amusement facilities in the park, such as roller coasters/Ferris wheels/pirate ships, and a water play city. These entertainment facilities are more crowded. In a word, I feel that this attraction is optional when visiting Zhuhai

By loar tidal |

The park is very big, suitable for family outings. There are boats and cable cars. There are usually not many people on weekends. It is a very comfortable place!

By China-TravelNote users |

I have heard that Zhuhai has beautiful scenery, with small but rugged islands, small but steep mountains, and especially the strange sea waves and rocks. The night before, he recommended several attractions to us, and we chose the free scenic route: Yuanming New Garden (antique) - Yeli Island (trendy architecture) - Seaside Park (overlooking Zhuhai by the sea) - Zhuhai Fisher Girl, Beach, Lovers' Road (legend has it that fairies descended to the earth). Master Xu will give a humorous introduction to each scenic spot, and my colleagues are very satisfied with this trip. After the scenic spot, the master sent us back to the light rail station (they helped us arrange the free scenic spots that are more representative of Zhuhai. There are many scenic spots in Zhuhai and we can choose the tour route by ourselves)

It's not interesting at all, and it's far from the Old Summer Palace. If you've been to the Old Summer Palace, don't go there. It's not interesting at all, the buildings are not well planned, and it feels like a mess.

By Yan Yulun |

I went to the second scenic spot in Zhuhai. I was full of expectations when I went there, but I was really disappointed after I got there. There were too many people from other provinces, and the environment was too dirty, with garbage and saliva all over the floor. Not to mention other things, people littered, and spoke Mandarin or other dialects. Many entertainment places basically required money, and it was basically a rip-off after spending money to go in. The snacks we ate were mostly street snacks, which were not only expensive but also unpalatable. I personally don't recommend everyone to go there. My whole family went there and we all regretted it.

Zhuhai Yuanming New Garden is modeled after Beijing's Old Summer Palace. Although it is not small in scale, it does not have the elegance and historical vicissitudes of the Old Summer Palace.

Stop 76: Zhuhai's Yuanming New Garden. AAAA, free. Actually, I came here because I wanted to let my eldest child know about the history of the Qing Dynasty. After all, Zhuhai's Yuanming New Garden is a relatively old building with a good reputation. Second, it is close to the Oyster Pavilion [sinister] [color], oysters are prepared on order, and you can choose from pepper and salt hot pot and barbecue. In addition, the broth of the native chicken and the tenderness of the fat beef, hehe, my mouth is watering. What my eldest child likes is what I like!

By Qianqian |

The New Yuanmingyuan integrates classical royal buildings, Jiangnan classical garden buildings and Western buildings, showing visitors the prosperity of the Qing Dynasty. In the western part of the park, there are Western buildings with unique noble temperament, white marble walls and exquisite decorations inside the hall, making you feel like you are in an ancient European palace.

By Freedom to travel around the world |

Such a beautiful ancient garden is free. It's so generous. Things nearby are very cheap. After playing during the day, we stayed nearby and sang KTV nearby. It's definitely worth staying here. The garden is also very large and retro, especially the white buildings that imitate the Old Summer Palace. It's really impressive. Although it's not gorgeous, I finally felt it.

The parking lot of Yuanmingyuan is across the road from the main entrance of the garden. The fee is very high (I remember it was CNY50). Fortunately, we found a free parking lot less than 10 meters away.

Before December 2013, this was a paid scenic spot with a ticket price of CNY100 per person. Now it is open to the public for free from 10:00 to 22:00. There is a performance of Dreaming of the Old Summer Palace at night (CNY80).

By Suzie Su |

It is said that there was a fee before 2013, but now there is no need for tickets. However, if you want to watch the performance of Dream Back to Yuanmingyuan at night, you need to buy an additional ticket of CNY80. The whole garden is still very large, and you can arrange a whole day to play slowly. The lake view pavilion has a good view.

Very historical, 4 stars purely because I don't like this type of scenery, but my older sister and brother-in-law like it very much
