The mountain is made of limestone, and at the foot of the east side, there is an artesian well. Because the water flows all year round, it is also called "Dajing Mountain".
The steep Laozhai Mountain attracts many photography enthusiasts to climb it. Although the altitude is not high, it has more than a thousand steps.
Looking from the top of the mountain, the Li River turns a corner at the foot of the mountain, and cruise ships shuttle by.
In the evening, on the small alluvial plain on the opposite bank, the mountains are slightly red in the sunset, with a hint of green, which is the Xingping Sunset praised by the famous painter Xu Beihong.

The entrance to Laozhaishan is really hard to find. It is easy to miss. It is on the left side of the trail facing the Youth Hostel. The way up the mountain is also difficult to walk. The steps are uneven and crooked. In many places, there is a road made of stones. It is slippery on rainy days. Some places require all four limbs. There is another thing to note, which was not mentioned in the previous guide. There are many cemeteries when going up and down the mountain. They are probably the ancestors of the villagers. I was not allowed to pass by the cemetery, but I had already walked here. It felt a pity not to go up the mountain, so I went up. It felt like I had climbed for a long time before I realized that I had only climbed 1/3.
The way up the mountain was full of trees, so there was no scenery. As I was going up the mountain, I sighed, "Oh my god, why is it so hard to climb? It was raining, and the road was a bit slippery." I was thinking about how to get down. It's easy to go up the mountain, but it's hard to go down.
There were few people in Laozhai Mountain. I met 6 people in total, a couple, a young man, and three foreigners. Including Michaela, there were 7 people in total. It was here that I met two foreigners. They were backpackers, carrying two large backpacks. They first told me that the road ahead was not far away, and then said that there was a girl on the top of the mountain, and you could take pictures of each other. After climbing to the top of the mountain, there was indeed a girl there. I walked over and found that this place was different from what I saw in China-TravelNote, so I looked around and found that it was in a rocky place, which might be the place I wanted to take pictures.
Laozhai Mountain is right next to the dock in Xingping Town. There is a hidden path leading up the mountain. There is no entrance fee and no one is in charge, so there is no sign and it is easy to miss. The mountain road is not well maintained. It is okay at the beginning, but it becomes more and more difficult to walk as you go up. It is made of stones and is bumpy and slippery on rainy days. Elderly people should not go up. When I was in Yangshuo, it started to fog up after noon, and the visibility became worse as it approached dusk. If the visibility was good, it would be quite spectacular.
It was already 4 or 5 in the afternoon when we arrived at Xingping. It was cloudy, so we couldn't see the sunset, but we still wanted to climb to the top of the mountain to have a look. When we arrived at the starting point at the foot of the mountain, we met a few Cantonese people. Seeing that I was a woman climbing the mountain alone, they told me not to go because it was almost dark. I looked at the sunset time and thought that as long as I could go back and forth within 50 minutes (at least halfway down the mountain), I should be able to make it in time, so I continued to move forward despite the dissuasion (I am such a stubborn person)... Later, I met a few groups of foreign friends who were going down the mountain, and they all told me to be careful. Due to the continuous rain, the road was slippery and the mountain was steep. I was very tired and felt like I didn't know when I would reach the top. I wanted to give up several times, especially when there was a short section of the ladder near the top. I really wondered if I was wrong. It was already dark, and I wondered if I would not be able to go up and down the mountain before dark... When I was about to reach the top, I suddenly heard voices, looked up and saw a few photography friends on the mountain, so I quickened my pace. They were preparing to go down the mountain and told me not to stay too long. As it was dark, the scenery was not photogenic, so I quickly took a few photos and followed them down the mountain. Fortunately, I met them and we quickly reached the bottom of the mountain while chatting and laughing. Everything went smoothly.
Laozhai Mountain is over 300 meters above sea level and is the best photography spot for overlooking the Li River. Laozhai Mountain is near Xingping Wharf. There is a small path leading up the mountain, which is easy to miss. It is best to ask locals for directions. Search for "Laozhai Mountain Shanshui Xiangyi Inn" on the map and you will find the climbing stairs next to it.
More than ten years ago, an old Japanese man came to Xingping for tourism. He was amazed by the scenery of Laozhaishan Mountain. After returning to Japan, he raised donations and returned to Laozhaishan Mountain to build a road up the mountain. He laid 1,159 steps and built a "Friendship Pavilion" near the top of the mountain, hoping that the people of China and Japan would be friendly for generations.
Laozhai Mountain is steep. Although there are steps, it is still difficult to walk. Especially after Youhao Pavilion, there are no steps to the highest point. Like Bilian Peak, there are many sharp rocks, which require hands and feet to use. You must concentrate, otherwise you will slip and easily sprain your ankle or get scratched.
Remember to bring a towel, as climbing a mountain is a "sweaty experience". If you want to take photos of the sunset, be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp, as it is still a bit dangerous to go down the mountain after dark. It is best to go with a group, as the first section of the way up the mountain will pass by a cemetery, which is still a bit eerie.
From the Friendship Pavilion you can only see the Li River and Xingping Ancient Town. If you want to see the panoramic view, you must climb to the top of the mountain.
If you want to overlook the Li River, Xianggong Mountain, Damian Mountain and Laozhai Mountain are the three most famous high points in Yangshuo. Xianggong Mountain and Damian Mountain have been occupied one after another, and only Laozhai Mountain is still open and does not charge admission. We stayed at the International Youth Hostel at the foot of Laozhai Mountain at Xingping Ferry. It would be a pity not to climb the mountain or take a boat. This time, my parents chose to do what they could and acted separately from me. They took the ferry to the fishing village on the other side, and I climbed to the top of Laozhai Mountain alone. Although it takes more than half an hour to reach the top, there is almost no flat stone steps to rest and breathe. Only when you reach the top can you fully relax.
Laozhai Mountain is located near Xingping Wharf. Standing on the top of the mountain, you can overlook the entire Xingping Town. There is no special person to manage it at present. It is said that a Japanese friend funded the mountain trail. The first 1/4 of the mountain trail is a cemetery. It is still a bit creepy to climb the mountain when it is dark. This section of the road is relatively flat. The steps on the road behind are relatively narrow and arranged in a staggered manner. Be careful to prevent stepping into the air. There is a ladder at the top of the mountain, which is almost 90 degrees vertical. Pay attention to safety when climbing. Because the road is narrow, tourists going up and down the mountain should pay attention to avoid it when they meet. Based on the principle of going down first and then going up, everyone's active courtesy can speed up the climbing and descending speed. When I climbed the mountain, I basically didn't stop along the way. It took about 25 minutes to reach the top of the mountain. Generally speaking, it takes about 40 minutes to reach the top of the mountain. There are unattended drinks to buy at the Stone Gate and the Friendship Pavilion on the top of the mountain. Take the drinks and scan the QR code to pay. Everyone trusts each other. There is a pile of rocks next to the Friendship Pavilion. That is the peak of Laozhai Mountain. The view is suddenly clear after climbing over the pile of rocks. Be sure to pay attention to safety when climbing, and don't force it. The pile of rocks is not big, and it is easy to be filled with people. Be careful not to push your feet. It is recommended not to climb on rainy days. There is moss on the stone steps, which are very slippery when it rains. It was raining when I went down the mountain, and many friends slipped and fell along the way.
The scenery of Laozhaishan is really great. When I went there, it was just after the Qingming Festival in April. There were not many people. It was a bit tiring to climb up, and some places were very steep. I heard that many people would choose to watch the sunrise very early in the morning or watch the sunset at night, but I was lazy and started climbing at around nine o'clock. If I had good physical strength, I should have been up in more than an hour. My friend was a little fat and walked for about 2 hours. I don't remember the details. First of all, the plants feel very primitive, and secondly, the view. There is a pavilion in the middle, the view is okay, very cool, and the scenery on the top is very good, with a wide view, which makes me want to live there permanently and climb up from time to time to see it. The view on the way is average, but some roads are still quite interesting and need to be experienced by yourself.
1. Laozhaishan is the legendary No. 1 viewing platform for sunset in Yangshuo, with very beautiful scenery.
2. The entrance is near the ferry terminal, on the right hand side of the Xingping Ancient Town Archway. It is easy to find. Just ask the aunt who sells fruits and drinks at the Xingping Ancient Town Archway.
3. The time it takes to climb Laozhai Mountain varies from person to person, ranging from 30 minutes for the fastest to an hour for the slowest. When we went there, it was almost sunset, so we walked very fast and reached the top in only 20 minutes.
4. Laozhaishan is the place to watch the sunset, and there is another place in Yangshuo called Xianggongshan where you can watch the sunrise.
5. Laozhaishan is very close to Xingping Ancient Town, and it can be said to be right next to the ancient town. It is also not far from the 20 RMB background image, just a few hundred meters away, and it is not far away after crossing a bridge.
6. Climbing Laozhai Mountain is free.
Although the road up the mountain is not easy to walk, the scenery of mountains and rivers and the sunset are worth the trip.
The sunset is really beautiful! Much better than Xianggong Mountain! I didn't have a SLR, so I had to use my phone to take pictures. It felt like everyone was risking their lives to take pictures.
It was a pity that the Li River was like the Yellow River during the flood season. Climbing to the top of the mountain, the view was wide and the feeling of being high above was also good.
It was more dangerous than expected. I met four foreign compatriots on the way up the mountain in the rain. I was also afraid of heights and was carrying a 23-pound load. I had to take my time when I went down! It is not recommended for ordinary tourists.
Laozhaishan Mountain is made of limestone, and the water from the well at the east foot never dries up.
The altitude is not high but the road is steep, so it is often visited by photography enthusiasts.
There are about a thousand steps, and it is thrilling to climb to the top holding the railing.
Standing on the pavilion and looking into the distance, you can see the Li River winding at your feet.
Cruise ships shuttled by and the scenery was beautiful.
Laozhaishan is located near Xingping Wharf. There is a small path on the left before exiting the archway from the old street. You can ask the innkeeper at the foot of the mountain how to climb. It takes about half an hour to climb the mountain quickly. If the weather is good, you can watch the sunset. It is recommended to climb the mountain 1 hour before sunset. There is only one stone staircase on the mountain, and it is steeper in the second half. Pay attention to safety and it is best to go down the mountain before dark.
The highest point of Laozhaishan is really dangerous, climbing on exposed rocks dozens of meters high, but it is worth it because you can see the iconic sunset.
Laozhai Mountain is really steep, but the view is worth it.
It's magnificent. You have to go in from the small fork beside the Li River to enter the mountain. I almost couldn't get in when I entered from another alley. It mainly depends on the weather. It feels very suitable to watch the sunrise.
During the two-day trip to Yangshuo, I felt that this was the most beautiful place, no doubt about it.
Highly recommended! ! ! ! ! ! Personally, I think this is the highlight of Yangshuo, and even the whole Guilin! If you come to Yangshuo and Xingping and don’t come here, it’s a waste of time! But be careful when you climb to the top of the mountain! ! It still looks a bit dangerous!
Super beautiful scenery~~~~and it's free, but the climb is quite strenuous~~The infinite scenery is on the dangerous peak
The road up the mountain is quite steep, but after checking in, it was all worth it. It is the most beautiful spot I have seen in Guilin.
The scenery is beautiful, but it is too dangerous. People with poor health are not recommended to climb. The scenery is beautiful
The road to the mountain is not as difficult as you might imagine. When you reach the top of the mountain, you will have a broad view of the undulating mountains, the busy cruise ships on the river, and the quiet villages. If you want to go and see it, please do not throw away garbage at will! Please protect every piece of land in our motherland! !
We climbed to the top of the mountain before sunset, but the gravel pile was already crowded with people. We couldn't find a place to stand or an angle to take pictures, but the scenery was still beautiful.
The scenery is great, the last section is steep, please pay attention to safety
Although it is not high, it is a narrow path with more than 1,100 steps in total.
Arriving at the top of the mountain, we rested at the Friendship Pavilion. Most people stopped here. The highest point was full of rocks, and two or three tourists were taking photos. Although the scenery was beautiful at high altitudes, we still had to pay attention to safety.
Climbing Laozhai Mountain is not such an easy thing. I climbed up slowly from the road beside Xingping Wharf. It was okay at the beginning, but it became more and more difficult to climb later. I was sweating all the way. It took about 45 minutes to climb to the pavilion on the top. The last section was very difficult to climb. There was an iron ladder that was basically 90 degrees. Everyone should pay attention here. Hold on tight, otherwise it would be more dangerous to fall down. But the scenery is really good when you climb to the top. From Laozhai Mountain, you can overlook Xingping Ancient Town. A bay of black tiles is built along the river. That is Xingping Ancient Street. Standing on a high place, looking around, there are many mountains, and the rolling mountains are one after another, as if you are in a painting, and people are swimming in the painting. From Laozhai Mountain, I saw the boats at Xingping Wharf wandering in the Li River. Once upon a time, the Li River was in my dream, ethereal and beautiful.
Laozhai Mountain is the highest mountain in Xingping Ancient Town. It is located next to the Rongshutan Pier of the Li River in Xingping Ancient Town. It is known as the best place to enjoy the scenery of Xingping and the best photography spot of the Li River. The climb to Laozhai Mountain is very steep, but many Chinese and foreign tourists want to climb Laozhai Mountain at dusk to see the beautiful sunset.
Zhaishan is not high, only more than 200 meters. Looking out from the mountain, you can see the whole picture of the mountains and water and the entire Xingping Ancient Town, especially the beautiful scenery of the Li River.
At dusk, you can see the rolling mountains tinted red in the sunset, with hints of green showing through the red. This is also the "Xingping Sunset" praised by the famous painter Xu Beihong.
In fact, many tourists who come to Laozhaishan will be frightened by the rugged roads here, especially in rainy weather. The mountain roads are slippery and it is easy to fall. The scenery seen from the pavilion on the top of the mountain may not be the most beautiful in their hearts. In fact, the best place to enjoy the beautiful scenery in Laozhaishan is without a road, and you really have to climb up.
I believe that many people climb Laozhai Mountain because they want to overlook the Li River from Laozhai Mountain. In addition to physical conditions, seeing the beautiful scenery sometimes also requires some luck, such as weather. Finally, I would like to remind everyone that you must pay attention to safety when you come to Laozhai Mountain. Because there are no lights on the mountain, you must go down the mountain early before dark after watching the sunset.
We climbed up the mountain from a small opening near the pier. Although it didn’t take long, only 20 minutes, it was very steep. My back was wet after climbing up, but the scenery was worth all the fatigue. At night, the lights in the houses below were all on.
The mountain road is not easy to walk on, so it is best not to go up or down the mountain alone. Safety first! I dare not climb the pile of rocks by myself.
We went to climb Laozhai Mountain to watch the sunset. The road was made up of irregular steps and was very steep, with a vertical height of 300 meters. But we tried our best to watch the sunset. It took us 20 minutes to reach the top of the mountain, sweating profusely. The moment we saw the sunset, I felt that everything was worth it. I felt refreshed and enlightened. It was so beautiful. Even the most authentic Chinese pastoral dog was out of breath after reaching the top of the mountain. I saw many foreigners there. Everyone was like a mountaineer. I especially envied their lifestyle and attitude.
It takes about 30 minutes to climb to the top of Laozhai Mountain. The scenery is pretty good. I remind you to bring an extra piece of clothing. It's really hot to climb the mountain! It's easy to catch a cold when the wind blows after going down the mountain.
A glance at the Li River, a win-win for Yangshuo and Guilin...
Climb to the top of the Sino-Japanese Friendship Pavilion, where the scenery is truly unique. It beats the Li River rafting in seconds! There is a detailed guide in my travel notes.
Laozhai Mountain is not high, but it is very steep! And before climbing the mountain early in the morning, remember to drink water and eat something, and bring water with you. Otherwise, it will be dangerous to climb the mountain on an empty stomach early in the morning. The stairs up the mountain are very old and steep, so wear good sports shoes.
When we were almost at the top of the mountain, we heard our friends on the top calling out, "Hurry up~ Come on~..." It was very touching and very motivated. When we reached the top of the mountain, the time was just right and the sun was just beginning to smile. Because it was the off-season, there were not many people climbing the mountain, only about 6 or 7 people. It was very happy to watch the sunrise on the top of the mountain, enjoy the beautiful scenery, take photos, and chat with tourists from all over the country.
Laozhai Mountain is only about 300 meters above sea level, which is not very high, but it is a little more difficult to climb than you might imagine. The road is quite steep, sometimes wide and sometimes narrow. When it is dark, you still have to pay special attention to safety.
The weather was not very good. The clouds were a bit thick in the morning. The sunrise was not as amazing as I imagined, but fortunately, I still encountered the morning glow in the sky. I must say that the top of Laozhai Mountain is really a good place to enjoy the scenery. With just one glance, you can have a panoramic view of the entire Xingping Ancient Town. Looking from the top of the mountain, there are mountains in the distance, and white clouds floating on the hillside, like a dream. Whether you look at it from a distance or up close, every glance and every angle is a beautiful scenery.
A free scenic spot that no one maintains! The mountain trail is difficult to walk, and it is quite tiring to climb up within an hour. Some places are very steep! But I don’t think the scenery is as beautiful as Xianggong Mountain! Xianggong Mountain is on the other side of Xingping, with inconvenient transportation and a 60 yuan ticket, so not many people go there. But the distance to climb the mountain is very short, and you can reach the top in more than ten minutes. The scenery is great!
It is easier to climb the mountain than expected. There are steps all the way, and some places are a little steep. You can see beautiful scenery at the top of the mountain, but it’s a pity that there was no blue sky and white clouds when I went there.
I didn't expect that there were so many people going up the mountain to watch the sunset. It was an international team of four girls with different skin colors, climbing Laozhai Mountain together. There were many graves along the way, so you can just pass them quickly.
To be honest, Laozhai Mountain is not high. The stone steps in the front section are relatively neat, while the stone steps in the back stage are a bit shabby and the climb becomes steeper and steeper. The way up the mountain is surrounded by dense woods, and there is almost no wind. It is so hot that the clothes are completely soaked with sweat. Climbing Laozhai Mountain is not tiring, but it is hot, very hot! After climbing to the top, you have to use your hands and feet to climb a small section of the big stone road. The flexible and martial arts masters have already occupied the best viewing position. After reaching the top, the scenery is really good, and all the mountains are small. Although the clouds are very thick and the sun is hiding in it, the clouds on the horizon are gradually getting darker, yellower, and redder, and the surrounding area is also slowly getting darker. The fire clouds pulled with a telephoto lens are golden in color. Although today's sunset is not the most beautiful because of the clouds, it feels beautiful and is a feast for the eyes. It is worth the hard work and sweat to climb the mountain. But when going down the mountain, it was already dark, so you had to use a flashlight, otherwise you would easily fall. It is not recommended for single girls to go alone because the road is steep and there are many graves. It is okay for brave guys, but guys have a bad temper.
Laozhai Mountain still stood out in the indigo, but now there was no cloud or mist lingering among the mountains, only the smoke from burning straw spreading across the valley.
The rice fields in midsummer are divided into grid-like fields with occasional yellow autumn colors among the continuous green. Between each ridge, the backs of people working in the fields are depicted.
Mr. Hayashi Kezhi, a Japanese, visited Guilin in 1996 and was attracted by the beautiful scenery. He donated money to repair the trail. It is a free and excellent place to watch the sunset.
The sunset view from the top of the mountain is really beautiful. However, the mountain road is very rugged and steep. It is not very safe. Please pay attention to safety when you go there!
This is definitely a place that is worth visiting after visiting Yangshuo. Of course, it is mainly because there are not many people. Laozhaishan is right next to Xingping Ancient Town. Local people also know that the Japanese grandfather came to develop it in 1996. In addition, the scenery is so beautiful, it is amazing that the local government has not developed it for more than 20 years.
The Li River is about 180 meters above sea level, and the top of Laozhai Mountain is about 400 meters above sea level. Although it is not the highest mountain in Guilin, the difference of more than 200 meters is enough to create a beautiful scenery. Especially here is an area with dense mountains. The scenery is absolutely magnificent.
The hike up the mountain takes less than half an hour, and the hike down takes just over 20 minutes. The road is a little difficult to walk on, but at least it is not dangerous. Of course, you still have to be careful when it rains. It rained the second time I went up the mountain. I met a fat guy coming down the mountain. I don’t know if he slipped or rushed too hard, and he almost fell into the bushes. Fortunately, an uncle grabbed him at the critical moment, and the uncle was almost dragged down with him.
I went to Laozhaishan twice in Yangshuo in two days. The first time was at noon, when there was almost no one there and the sun was not shining. The scenery was very stunning (and I was sweating all the time). The second time was in the evening. Although I didn’t see the sunset because it rained, the dazzling color changes brought by the sunset through the clouds were breathtaking.
I met some foreigners these two days. After reaching the top, they just sat quietly to enjoy the scenery, without taking pictures or talking. They seemed to be communicating with their souls. They sat there until the sun went down. It felt the same as when I first saw the sea.
I heard from villagers at the foot of the mountain that sometimes foreigners would bring tents to the mountain to spend the night and watch the sunrise. But the top of the mountain is really small, with only a pavilion and a rock, and it would be quite annoying if there were a few more people.
Fortunately, I was delayed a little when I went down the mountain for the second time, and I waited until the total lunar eclipse. It was so beautiful!
The trail of Laozhaishan is next to the dock of Xingping Ancient Town. No tickets are required. It takes about 30 minutes to climb the mountain. The second half of the mountain road is a bit steep. Climbing the mountain in the evening of midsummer really feels like life is hopeless, but the scenery on the top of the mountain is still good, and the ancient town at the foot of the mountain can be seen at a glance.
It's well worth the climb to see the beautiful landscape!
Laozhai Mountain is not difficult for young people to climb. There are steps all the way. It is just that it is really difficult to climb from the pavilion to the top. But the hard work will not be in vain. The scenery above is beautiful! Extremely! Highly recommended, you will not regret it!
I give a thumbs up first. It is a must-recommendation. It's a pity that there was a heavy rain the day before the climb, which made the river water unclear. The weather was not good, and there was no chance to see the sunset.
Laozhaishan may have been named because it was once a place where bandits lived. The stone gate of the bandits' camp can still be seen on the mountain. However, it was developed and known to the world thanks to Lin Kezhi, a Japanese who visited here in the 1990s. Under his promotion, the beauty of Laozhaishan gradually became known to Chinese and foreign tourists. He stayed in Xingping to build the mountain trail and viewing pavilion free of charge and was praised by Chinese and Japanese media.
Laozhai Mountain is not very high. There are red painted arrows along the way. It takes about 40 minutes for most people to reach the top. The mountain road is shaded by trees, so you don't have to worry about the sun. However, the mountain is not high but steep enough. There is even a section that is almost straight up and down. You have to climb the man-made iron ladder, and most of the stone steps are not very regular. The shade of trees also brings the problem of humidity, especially in Laozhai Mountain where it has just rained. The road is difficult to dry, and the slippery stone steps become particularly difficult to walk on, so you must be very careful.
The viewing pavilion on the top of the mountain offers a panoramic view of the entire Xingping area. Looking east, the tributaries of the Li River are embedded in the flat Xingping. At the end of your sight, there are suddenly peaks that grow towards the center. Against the backdrop of the pale blue mountains in the distance, they stretch towards the sky as much as possible, as if they are determined to penetrate the clouds and meet somewhere in the blue sky. On a clear afternoon, the view here is excellent and the light is just right, which is very suitable for photography. Of course, if you are shooting portraits from west to east, the sunlight will be more dazzling, so please wear sunglasses.
If you go down the mountain immediately after resting in the viewing pavilion, that's fine. It's just like buying a casket and returning a pearl. The signal tower to the west of the viewing pavilion is the real destination, a secret place leading to the beauty of the Li River. There is no warrior who gets the treasure without going through trials. The road to the signal tower is extremely difficult. This road must be explored and explored by yourself on a pile of rocks. There is no flat foothold among the rocks, so you must climb with your hands and feet. When you step down a boulder with the help of the signal tower, please hold your breath and whisper in a low voice, because you have reached heaven.
The scenery is beautiful, but the clouds are too thick today, and the sky looks a bit gray. Other things are ok😊
The mountain road is rugged and steep, and the stone steps and stone railings are relatively simple. You need to pay attention to your safety along the way, but it takes about half an hour to climb down to the top. When you reach the small pavilion on the top of the mountain, the picture of Guilin's landscape has already unfolded slowly in front of you. When you climb to the top of the stone pile again, you can enjoy the landscape and wait for the sunset with friends from all over the world. It is really the most unforgettable experience of this trip to Guilin.
This is a mountain with a story. The view from the top makes you forget to pick up your camera.
It is a bit dangerous to go up and down the mountain. There are no guardrails or lights. It is recommended to go during the day.
It is still a very good spot, just next to Xingping Ancient Town. The mountain road is not easy to walk on, and there are no protective measures in some places, so you must pay attention to safety when going up and down the mountain. The big rock on the top is the highest point. Although the viewing angle is invincible, it is indeed a very unsafe place. I heard that people fall to their deaths here every year. So everyone should pay attention to safety while checking in and taking pictures!
The mountain is not high, and it is not a regular stairway. It is a stone-paved mountain road. The scenery on the top of the mountain is unique and worth the sweat you shed along the way. It should be even more beautiful if you go there at sunset. I think it is a must-see attraction when visiting Yangshuo.
The most beautiful and shocking point, the view from the flat ground is much weaker than that from the top of the mountain
After climbing Laozhai Mountain, I felt that my trip to Guilin was worthwhile! I saw everyone say that the road was difficult to walk on, but it was actually not that bad. The whole way was stairs, and there was no dirt road at all. But if it was wet, you had to walk slowly and be careful not to slip. In addition, there were some warnings along the way, saying that it was easy to get lost, but there was only one road, and you wouldn't get lost if you followed the road.
The mountain is really not high but the road is really steep
Especially when the road is still wet after rain.
Walk carefully
It is recommended to find someone to accompany you when climbing the mountain.
Because there are many tombs during the climb.
It's okay if you're not afraid
The scenery on the mountain is really beautiful and you won't be disappointed
But be careful
Laozhaishan is really beautiful, overlooking the Lijiang River bend and Xingping Ancient Town, and there is also a stunning sunset, but I didn't see it. I will go there again if I have the chance! !
It's not easy to climb. Going up the mountain is tiring, and going down the mountain is difficult and tiring. And the closer you get to the top of the mountain, the harder it is. As a result, in the second half of the climb, it was difficult to continue going up, but it was a pity to give up.
The golden viewing platform at the top is completely pristine and has no protection measures, so you should do what you can.
But once you go up there, you will never regret it, especially near sunset, when the scenery is so beautiful!
Although the road up the mountain is not easy to walk on, although it has rained and made the road slippery, although the viewing point above is rather steep, and although there are many complaints, but the moment you reach the top of the mountain and see Xingping below, everything is worth it. The only regret is that you didn’t get to see the sunset!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful~ Husband, Laozhai, the essence of Yangshuo is all here!
The road is not easy to walk on, but the scenery is the most beautiful.
The mountain is not very high, but it is difficult to climb because there is no regular mountain road. The steps are sometimes there and sometimes not, sometimes wide and sometimes narrow, sometimes slippery and sometimes not slippery. Haha, my writing is too bad, but I promise that you will never regret climbing up. Don't just take pictures in the pavilion on the top of the mountain, but also go up to the small hill. When you go up, you will find that everything is worth it. It is too beautiful to be expressed by a camera, let alone words. You can only see it with your eyes and feel it with your heart. PS: Don't be scared back by some text signs halfway up the mountain, and don't ask your friends who are going down the mountain how steep it is. Just remember that I, a four-year-old mother, who doesn't do any physical exercise, can go up. That's enough. And there were only a dozen people on the whole mountain that day. I encountered sudden lightning and thunder when taking pictures on the top of the mountain, and it was accompanied by heavy rain when I went down the mountain. I think it's worth it!
Climbing after rain is more dangerous, be careful, be honest when you reach the top of the mountain and don't go to the edge of the cliff. The scenery is good.
People must have dreams, so that life will be meaningful.
All the impossibilities are actually possible.
Live the life you like and chase the dreams you want to realize. The process may be long and difficult, but in this process you will love yourself more for your hard work.
Follow the path you want to take, and one day your dreams will come true.
Laozhai Mountain is really worth a visit, but it still takes physical strength to climb up. It normally takes 40 minutes to climb up. It was raining when we went up the mountain, and the road was slippery. It took us nearly an hour to climb the mountain. The scenery on the mountain is really great, and it feels like a bird's eye view of all the mountains. Just to the right of the archway of Xingping Ancient Town, go up the mountain. There is an arrow indicating the way, and no tickets are required.
Definitely worth the climb, bring a pot of tea and drink it slowly on the rocks at the top of the mountain
Great! Although the mountain is steep, after climbing up, the entire Li River is in sight. Watching the sunrise and sunset is a good choice!
A good place, convenient transportation, drive directly to the foot of the mountain. No entrance fee, the mountain road is rugged and bumpy. But the mountain is very beautiful, with a panoramic view of Xingping.
It is said that Laozhaishan was discovered by a Japanese friend by chance. He was saddened that no one knew about such a beautiful scenery, so he began the long process of raising funds to build a road. To this day, there is a Friendship Pavilion on Laozhaishan to commemorate him.
Laozhaishan and Yangshuo TV Tower belong to the same type of mountains, and both are difficult to climb. In some places, you will inevitably need to use your hands and feet, and always pay attention to the gravel under your feet, so it is safer to go together with a group of people.
According to the local innkeeper, the pavilion on the top of Laozhai Mountain is not actually the best viewing point. You have to climb over the pavilion and climb to the back mountain with your bare hands to see the most stunning scenery!
I have always wanted to climb Laozhai Mountain to take photos of the Li River. Laozhai Mountain is right next to the Li River. The steep and narrow mountain road was a bit beyond my imagination. I thought I could reach the top in one go. In the end, it took me more than half an hour to climb and rest twice before I reached the top.
There is a Friendship Pavilion on the top of Laozhai Mountain, but to take pictures of the open river, you have to climb to the signal tower on the top of the mountain. The peaks and forests on both sides of the Li River are as beautiful as ever. However, during the dry season, the Li River is almost dry, revealing the sandy beach in the riverbed, which looks eclipsed.
I had no choice but to go down to the Peace Pavilion on the mountainside to wait for the light. The two pavilions were built with donations from the old man Lin Kezhi, and they carry the good wish of "China and the United States are friendly and peaceful." The weather was not particularly good, and the river surface was not so transparent under the mist. But the slightly golden sunset still arrived as expected.
Laozhai Mountain is right next to Xingping Ancient Town, above the pier. The mountain is not high, but it is quite steep and suitable for watching the sunset.
Although the mountain is not very high, the scenery at the top is very beautiful. The government has not developed it, it is purely privately repaired, and the mountain road is quite steep.
Laozhaishan is the place where I went to Yangshuo, Guilin for a leisure vacation. I went to Yangshuo, Guilin many years ago. This time I was mainly in a state of mind to relax and did not make any detailed strategy. I saw the name of Laozhaishan by chance the day before departure. I happened to have some free time when I was waiting for the cruise ship at Xingping Wharf, so I decided to climb Laozhaishan on a whim, and it became my biggest unexpected gain on this trip. Many people go to Yangshuo and Guilin to take a boat to cruise the Li River, but have you ever thought about how beautiful it would be if you could climb these abrupt peaks and look down at the peaks and the Li River from a high place? Laozhaishan is located at Xingping Wharf in Yangshuo. This wharf is almost the starting point for most of the Li River cruises. Countless people pass by it, but they also miss it. Walk to the wharf and turn left for about 100 meters. There is a stone road next to a hotel. That is the entrance to Laozhaishan. The mountains in Guilin are very steep. Although the altitude is only a few hundred meters, it is very strenuous to climb. The first half is relatively flat. After passing the city gate tower, it becomes steep and difficult to walk. After climbing the iron ladder, you are close to the top of the mountain, but it is the most difficult section. In addition, the road surface is slippery due to the recent rain, so you must be especially careful when going down the mountain. It takes about half an hour to reach the pavilion on the top of the mountain, where you can overlook Xingping Town, but this is not the end of Laozhai Mountain. There is a pile of rocks behind the pavilion. You can climb there to see the most beautiful scenery: the big bend of the Li River surrounded by mountains. The real beauty cannot be described in words. Just look at the pictures yourself. I want to briefly tell the story of Laozhai Mountain. Those who are interested can search online. The simple version is: A Japanese named Lin Kezhi climbed Laozhai Mountain in 1996 and found that there was such a beautiful scenery hidden in the deep boudoir. So he spent three years building the hiking trail and viewing pavilion of Laozhai Mountain for free. In the end, his deeds were widely reported by domestic and foreign media and became a typical example of Sino-Japanese folk cultural exchanges. He also married a Chinese wife and settled in Xingping and opened a "Laozhaishan Hotel". I guess it is the one near the pier at the entrance of the mountain. If you are interested, you can stay at his hotel. Thanks to him for letting me enjoy such a beautiful scenery. He is a master who lives in seclusion in the world. He is the one who allows others to see the scenery.
There are many mountains around Xingping Ancient Town, and the directions to Laozhai Mountain are not obvious. You need to ask the locals to know that Laozhai Mountain has an altitude of more than 300 meters. Although it is not high, there are more than 1,100 steep steps. It takes half an hour to climb to the top. When you reach the top, you can see a friendship pavilion, which is the top of Laozhai Mountain.
There is a touching story about Laozhai Mountain. It is said that the mountain road to Laozhai Mountain was built by a Japanese tourist, Lin Kezhi. He climbed Laozhai Mountain by chance during a trip in 1996. He was so fascinated by the beautiful scenery that he could not bear to leave. After that, he decided to stay in Xingping. With the consent of the Xingping Town Government, he built this mountain climbing trail with more than 1,000 stone steps free of charge, and built a pavilion in the mountain and on the top of the mountain. The pavilion in the mountain is called Peace Pavilion, and the pavilion on the top of the mountain is called Friendship Pavilion. It was not until later that we know that he settled in Xingping and ran a hotel at the foot of Laozhai Mountain. Since then, many Japanese tourists and even other foreign tourists have come to climb this mountain. Because of him, Xingping quickly changed from an unknown town to a well-known tourist spot.
After climbing up Laozhai Mountain, you will be overwhelmed by the gorgeous scenery on both sides of the Li River. The best viewing point is the pile of rocks next to the Youhao Pavilion on the top of the mountain. Overlooking countless towering peaks, the Li River makes a big turn at the foot of the mountain, which looks majestic. Cruise ships shuttled across the Li River, and the mountains in the distance were particularly enchanting.
Taking photos in the rock pile is like risking your life. There are no guardrails or other safety protection measures in the rock pile, and there is a cliff under your feet, so you need to pay more attention to safety when taking photos.
Walk in from the path under the archway next to the pier. There is only one road and it is not difficult to find. There are many graves in the first half. The two girls were a little scared to walk. It is basically stairs, some are made of stone, some are made of cement. There is a very steep section. It is said that it has been raining and the road is very slippery. The two girls went up in dresses and white shoes. It was not too high and they walked slowly. They reached the top in half an hour. There was a straight staircase with a lot of people and the road was narrow. You have to be very careful when avoiding. There are also many foreign brothers who are very friendly. There is a pavilion at the top of the mountain, but there are so many people that there is no place to stand. There are pointed stones on the top, which is not easy to stand. We took a few photos and came down. We did not wait until the sunset for fear that it would be dark and we would not be able to come down. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes, socks and clothes when we go up.
